Our Kenmore Model is 79574024412, Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Refrigerator purchased from Sears in 2017. I highly recommend you do NOT purchase this appliance. First of all it has expensive air and water filters that need to be replaced every year. This is large expense and problematic to do. Secondly, the ice maker has continually caused issues for us. It leaks and this causes it to freeze up the entire ice maker. We are constantly having to chip out frozen ice to make accessory work.

Now after less than 5 years this expensive refrigerator just powered off one day without any indication that it was about to go out! We got a repair person quickly and he says it is the primary circuit board that is corroded and needs replacing. He cannot readily find ANY replacement circuit board available for purchase. This is totally unacceptable, we have an old (purchased 1989) HotPoint CTX23G refrigerator/freezer that has worked with NO issues for 33 years. By the way our repairman says that all the components in this Kenmore Refrigerator or LG in origin.

My fridge went out. $700 worth of food is tossed. They schedule me for an appt the next day. A guy comes saying he’s there to repair the stove. I laughed and said, "You're joking right." He said, "No. I don’t know anything about fridges." I call. I get transferred 5x. Now I get transferred to the supervisor after a 35! minute hold waiting for the supervisor (mind you every 2 minutes she comes on to tell me that we’re still waiting for a supervisor). Now I speak to the supervisor and she then transfers me to Kenmore warranty … Guess what Kenmore warranty is… the same number I called from the beginning and it took me nowhere back to pressing numbers for what department I wanted.

I purchased a Kenmore Elite French door refrigerator in 2016 (795.74043.412). I didn't do much research before the purchase. It recently stopped cooling. The repairman explained a design flaw common with this brand. The lines are narrow and tend to crimp, causing oil to back up into the compressor. It's repairable at a cost of over 1,500.00. It would likely happen again. He said most of the repair calls he gets are for Kenmore/LG and Samsung. I decided not to repair. For that cost I intend to purchase a Whirlpool.

Bought this fridge and matching stove 3yrs ago. I purchased this brand, as did much research on reviews of Kenmore. With that and feeling Sears had a quality product, I purchased them. Three years later, my fridge went totally out. I had no reason to think a Kenmore would crash in 3 years. Threw out hundreds of dollars in food. And this is where things go horribly wrong.

There is no longer a warranty, it’s only a year. Sears wants $1700 to repair. I don’t have a $$ tree in my yard. So then I bought a Choice Home warranty. The rep on the phone said, "No worries ma’am, this is covered." I told him it was already out. Waited my 30 days, and filed a claim. They send out the same tech as Sears. He’s in the house 3 minutes, tops. Calls me to say they won’t cover it. Pre-existing condition. I’ve now paid for 2 service calls. And no working fridge still.

I turn to Kenmore and reach out for help. I gave them 2 voices, either fix my fridge for free or replace with a comparable fridge to what I have. The man chose to repair it. Five phone calls later, "Yes it’s in your file, diagnostic fee waived, no charges on parts and labor." But, yesterday, the tech calls wanting to know if I still want him there. He has no paperwork that there’s no charge. Mind you, Kenmore set this up and supposedly wrote notes.

I called Kenmore. "Oh yes, it’s right here, no charges." He says, "I’ll send this over for your tech." Hours later, he don’t have this to come fix it. I call back. Now, this guy says he has no access to those notes and wants to transfer me to another department. I still have no working fridge. I’ve contacted 2 local tv stations to look into my story, and hopefully get it fixed. Buyer beware. Buy another brand, not a Kenmore Elite. It was priced just under $3000. Not worth it.

We bought our Kenmore Refrigerator July 2019 with a 1 year warranty. 6 months after warranty expired the refrigerator starting making a horrible noise, then stopped getting cold. I called my local repairman, he came looked at it and said even if he fixed it, it would break again in 6 months. So I called Sears to have a tech come out, he said it was the fan and would place an order for the part.

I called sears every 2 weeks for 6 months to check status of my fan. Now I get a call from sears telling me they are refunding my money for the PART as they cannot get it. Now WHAT am I to do with this $2500.00 refrigerator that does not work and is only 2 years old.. They are not refunding my $2500.00 so now I have to spend more money to buy a new Refrigerator... Won't be a KENMORE that's for sure! So disappointed with Samsung as they actually make this refrigeration, Sears for leading me on for 6 months and Kenmore for not backing what they sell. I've been a faithful and happy Kenmore appliance buyer for decades. Based on that experience, I recently bought a Kenmore Elite $1200 refrigerator. It developed freezer issues a month after the warranty expired and when I googled the issue I found that this was a common and known problem for this whole line of refrigerators. I contacted two local appliance-repair people and they both told me too bad, Kenmore used to be the reliable source of appliances, up until two or three years ago when they stopped manufacturing them in the US and started buying from the lowest bidder and just rebranding the resulting junk. I'm disappointed in yet one more company having sold out and let down the faithful customers who kept them in business all these years. I will never again buy a Kenmore appliance, unless it's an older used one in good condition.

US government allow American consumers to continually get ripped off by manufactures and retailers. LG/Samsung newer model refrigerators have 220v compressors which does not work well with US circuit standards. Repair people state compressors have known defect. It's not a defect. Those 220v compressors are intended to work for a certain duration then burn out. If you replace one then sooner or later you will replace another.

Purchase new Kenmore refrigerator from Sears 2017/2018. Stopped working Sept. 2021. Refrigerator labeled as Kenmore but model number is LG (795.72493.611). Try buying replacement parts using model no. you will never receive correct part unless you dismantle original and locate exact part number. This has been a nightmare. One repairperson refused to try and repair. We found one who educated us that replacing 220v compressor with 150v compressor would fix the problem. Additionally, he indicated 150v compressor will last for years as oppose to replacing with another 220v that would out again in about 2/3 years.

The government/retailers and manufacturers allow consumers to continuously be ripped off. It's called capitalism. Also switching tag from LG to Kenmore should be illegal similar to switching car VIN. There should be huge price paid by manufacturers and retailers with regards to selling products with known issues. LG not found in company list. Why?

Took the back off just to find out it was an LG compressor. Luckily I caught it soon enough to have not have a loss of food but now here I sit with a very expressive 4yr old non-working refrigerator. After looking up information on this compressor I saw that there was a settlement for it and I could get an extended warranty to have it replaced at no cost but of course I can't find the receipt or any proof of purchase. All I have is pictures of the fridge and compressor and LG said without a receipt they won't help me. All I wanted was the faulty compressor replaced and they know it's faulty but all I got for help was "too bad, so sad". Guess I will NEVER purchase a Kenmore or LG ANYTHING ever again.

Like thousands of others, I have trusted the Kenmore name as being a quality product for many years. My parents bought Kenmore appliances too. So when it was time to buy a new refrigerator I bought a Kenmore Elite with the bottom pull out freezer. I specifically did not want another brand like Samsung or LG because I knew they made faulty products after talking with appliance repair techs and friends who had purchased these products.

We have been happy with our Kenmore fridge for just over three years until today. It stopped cooling and I called a repair tech. It was a BIG surprise to learn our Kenmore was actually an LG product that had a known poor quality compressor. The technician told us he and his company had replaced MANY compressors on the same Kenmore refrigerator I owned. It cost me $840 to replace the compressor because of course it was no longer under warranty. It frustrates me to no end, just three years after purchasing the refrigerator at a cost of $2,500 and now an additional $840. I recommend to everyone do you own research before buying. We have a Kenmore Elite 750 Refrigerator purchased 10/2013 from Sears. It stopped working May 2021. Sears came and diagnosed the problem as the compressor, which is under a 10 year warranty (reads: "repair free of charge"). However, Sears noted the replacement compressor will need a new computer in order to function. We paid the diagnostic fee and asked him to email us a full quote, which he never did. We called Kenmore (transferred to Sears) as the price seemed high ($924) for a problem that is under warranty.

We rescheduled an appointment and the technician did not show. We called Sears who rescheduled us for the following week and assured us that the next technician would be fixing the compressor and computer for no additional charges at all. We then spoke to an additional 5 people at Sears who all gave us different stories; it seems that the next appointment would simply be another diagnostic visit/second opinion which is NOT what we need. It has been very difficult to work with Sears, and we have spent several hours on the phone getting several different stories. Though the warranty states the compressor is covered for repair free of charge for 10 years (no mention of parts or labor, just "repair"), they (Kenmore and Sears) refuse to fix the problem or send us the parts so we can fix it ourself or hire another person.

The Kenmore representative (Drew) was downright rude to me for no clear reason. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, he told me someone would call me. A person did call me, but did not leave a phone number to reach her--she gave me the generic Kenmore line again, which was not helpful. I wrote several emails to Kenmore via various avenues and received no response whatsoever.

All in all, extremely disappointing and upsetting "service" from Kenmore and Sears. To say something (an expensive fridge) is under warranty for repair but then charge $1000 to fix is not acceptable. What's more: the compressor in question underwent a class action lawsuit previously as it kept breaking and Kenmore kept having it replaced with other deficient compressors that they knew would break: obviously unacceptable. It's also unacceptable that no one will take responsibility or help; Sears traded us from department to department endlessly and Kenmore was downright rude. We will never buy from Kenmore or Sears again. User's recommendation: Do NOT Kenmore products. Do NOT buy from Sears.

It just split on the side of the hose. I spliced the line the with some new line and 2 connector. Recently it started leaking again. The original hose is so brittle that if I were to push on a connector it will most likely break again. The hose runs into the back wall so it cannot be replaced without tearing off the entire back panel which I'm not sure is even possible. I feel that a water line should last close to as long as the rest of the unit. Especially if it is not replaceable. So thanks Kenmore for saving 10 cents and using cheap materials. I bought a set of Kenmore appliances from Sears. The refrigerator was made by LG . After a year and seven months the refrigerator stopped cooling. I called up Sears and asked about the warranty. They explain to me that they would send out a repairman however I would have to pay over $200 for service call but they would take that out if in fact there was something wrong with the refrigerator. The repairman Came out and told me there was a leak in the coolant system. He then told me it was not even worth to repair. He told me the LGs have a terrible history of either compressor is going out or a leak. When I asked about the warranty he said there was a one-year warranty. I asked about fixing it. He told me he could only guarantee it for a month. His advice was to buy Whirlpool Frigidaire or GE. I called up Sears and they told me There was no warranty on the coolant system. In fact there was only one year warranty.

I looked around to other manufacturers and found out that they stand behind their cooling system. So I had a 18 month old refrigerator that did not work. I tried calling a repairman to see how much he would charge. He told me he would not even work on it. He gave me the same advice. Stick with whirlpool Frigidaire KitchenAid. The true cost of the refrigerator was over $ 3000. I know I understand wife's ears went out of business. What I would tell anybody is do not buy a Kenmore or LG as they do not stand behind their products.

I went Home Depot to buy another refrigerator and I and explained to three people that were looking at LGs what happened to me. They told me, "Thank you" because they understood that buying a product that would not stand behind its a warranty it's not a product they need in their kitchen. I would strongly suggest to anybody when you buy a new refrigerator look at the warranty On the cooling system. Interesting enough Frigidaire stands behind their cooling system.

I called the number on the manual and was told that someone could be scheduled to "diagnose" the problem for a fee of $149 and also that my refrigerator had only a one year warranty and I did not pay extra for extended service. I scheduled the appointment reluctantly. I had a local, and trusted for years, repairman come to take a look. He checked everything and related to the lights, looking at the tech sheet and online. It is determined that the part that is needed is $215 just for the part and it is on backorder with no projected date of arrival. My repairman also said that this specific refrigerator has a "Tech Service Alert" attached to it, meaning several people have had the same problem. BUT Kenmore does NOT back up their product.

What ever happened to good companies backing up what they sell? I will never purchase a Kenmore product again. My purchase from SEARS this time included this refrigerator, a flat top stove and range hood and a dishwasher. The Samsung (another review I left here) stove had issues within the first two weeks and I was told that the stovetop wearing through in two weeks is considered a blemish and isn't covered.

I ordered a shelf for my Kenmore on July 2, 2020. Sears required me to pay in full at the original time of the order. It's been seven months and not only have they not delivered my part, they have canceled my order without informing me and without refunding my money. I only found out because I remembered to go online and check the status of my order. The status is 'canceled', as of Dec. 30 (a month ago) but they never informed me and they kept my money. I have been in touch 4 times over the last 7 months and every time they have assured me the part is almost ready. Obviously, they never intended to send it and have decided to keep my money. I'm sure many people forget over time and this is probably a successful source of free income for them, even though it's quite unethical.

Updated on 01/26/2021: My first review on 1/4/2021 was about a failed compressor. Today is the 1/26/2021 and the tech finally came to fix the compressor. He advised me that there are a lot of problems with these compressors. He told me that when the compressor goes a black liquid runs through the refrigerator lines. He flushed the system but said it was not guaranteed to be fully flush. He then proceeded to tell me that if there is black fluid left and it gets into the compressor it will ruin it. He then told me that the compressor will probably fail within 2 years or less after paying $300 dollars to have it fixed. If it breaks I will need to pay again to service the refrigerator. This feels like a giant scam and Sears and Kenmore should be held accountable for the faulty parts they use on their products. Unsatisfied Customer!!!

Original Review: I purchased a Kenmore Elite refrigerator approximately 4 years ago because my last Kenmore was well made. The compressor already failed only after 4 yrs. Kenmore is using a LG compressor. If I wanted an LG I would’ve purchased LG. I am very disappointed and will never buy a Kenmore again. Putting cheaper parts to save money will only cost you customers!! Kenmore should fix every last compressor problem.

I have received no explanation as to why my appointments keep getting changed and no acknowledgment regarding a service request for a refrigerator which is an ESSENTIAL household item.

I’ve expressed that I have 3 children in my home and that I was buying ice to preserve milk and eggs in coolers. I’ve lost wages leaving work for a service that never occurred, in addition to losing all my food in the refrigerator and freezer! No coverage because I didn’t purchase an extended warranty. I paid $170 for an outside technician to come Evaluate and repair but I have to have a Sears technician inspect it. The compressor is covered under the manufacturer warranty but I’m responsible for the service visit fee- no problem, if I can only get someone out to do the service. During that 3 years we had eight service calls for the icemaker. After the fourth or fifth service call the technician told us that this model has a design flaw, and that it would keep breaking. Well guess what? They were right. Right after the warranty ran out it broke again and this time the service rep said he could not fix it. The design flaw was in the wiring at the bottom of the freezer, at the hinge where the door swings open. They could no longer splice the wiring to fix it! We paid $89.00 for this service call in which they did nothing but tell us it was unfixable!

We contact Customer Service and the BBB to file complaints. Sears refused to help us in any way, telling us we were basically out of luck. They also refuse to refund our $89.00 for the NON-service call. The Customer Service Rep who answered the BBB complaint offered to give us a 20% discount on a new refrigerator. Ridiculous! We will never buy another Sears product. A design flaw such as this should be grounds for a Class Action Law Suit.

In Dec 2015 purchased a Kenmore Elite refrigerator. A big stainless steel shiny one. It ran for almost five years. We have now had three compressors fail. The new ones and also had the software updated. Ther repair person just left saying our refrigerator is not repairable due to a Freon leak in the body of the refrigerator.

We joined with thousands of LG customers in the National class action lawsuit. I am still within the five year warranty period and will petition for a replacement. Each time a refrigerator fails hundreds of dollars of groceries are lost. My opinion is that retail stores are complicit with LG for selling a product made to fail. This should be considered fraud. Retail store owners have to be aware and should also be held accountable for the damage to consumers. We should not be importing these products from Samsung. Reading the hundreds of reviews shows that LG is not responding in good faith and are still allowed to fraudulently lie about their product to harm people.

Sears has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. We bought a refrigerator from a hometown store. It never got colder than 45 degrees. Tech came, ordered parts. Parts on back order for over 1 month. I asked for my money back. Some parts arrived. I had to call multiple times, never a call or email from Sears. Waiting to hear about refund and find out I’m not “eligible “ for refund. Won’t help me until I return the parts- which no one told me until today. Hometown store owner tried to call on my behalf and they refused to speak with her. So now I’m waiting again until they receive the parts before they will replace the unit. Who knows how long it will be before I have a working unit. Paid $1300 for a brand new appliance, it doesn’t work, they won’t give my money back and they are dragging out replacement. Let me start by stating what is good about this refrigerator. It has not killed anyone. Here is the not so good:

    1. Year one face of deli draw pull off. We are average family of four. Not abusive in any way and the fronts of the drawers began to fall off. I installed stainless screws and nuts to hold them on after year one.
    2. On year three the water line burst. Did not find this until I found a puddle of water in the basement. Ruined the new flooring, thankfully it is not noticeable unlesss you pull the fridge out.
    3. Also year three it began freezing off and on in the refrigerator.
    4. Next the water line began to freeze up, now not making ice. The temperature setting is on 45F.
    5. Now the stop on the fridge door broke. The door now slams into my hand made kitchen cabinets if you're not careful.

    6. Today the bottom door shelf cracked and fell off from the freezer.

A man can only take so much, off to buy a new freezer before the water line breaks again.

Also, the reality is that even though the compressor is free, the labor is not. It will cost us several hundred dollars to put in another one of these bum compressors. Can you imagine???

I purchased a Kenmore refrigerator, based on my past Kenmore purchases. Not only have the products deteriorated but I have not experienced such poor customer service, ever. At 9 months my refrigerator stopped working. I first emailed customer service with no response. I then called customer service and after I was basically told by the person that answered the phone, that it was my fault (6 different ways) that my refrigerator stopped working (which was after I was told that I shouldn’t email but only call customer service-complete opposition to the website and to a card left by a service tech).

One of the things I was told was that I should only be using 60%-80% of the freezer space. I asked her to tell me where that was written in the owner’s manual. She stuttered and stammered and then said (after telling me how she knew all these issues because she had worked there 11 years, and this was most likely my fault) that she got confused as to what service told her and what was in the manual. It would be false advertising to sell a 26.1 cu. ft. fridge but only be allowed to use 60%-80% of that space or it stops working, when a person actually uses the space that was purchased.

After so much time on the phone, I got put on the emergency schedule, which was 5 days out. After service checked it out, I was told a part had to be ordered and it would take 6 days. 18 days later, I called back (no one called or notified me), to be told the part was on back order until March. I asked what they were going to do until then, I got transferred two different times after the first person couldn't help. I was told that after 30 days that they would schedule a replacement. I asked that they send me documentation for that and I was put on hold (after a loud sigh and a very huffy “I will check to see if that information can be texted or faxed” after I had been told it couldn’t be emailed) and at an hour of being on-hold I hung up.

I had asked to schedule the replacement appointment since I had been told already that the part wasn't coming until March, almost another 2 months. The customer service person (supposed customer service person) got very short and said they couldn’t do that until 30 days had past. This was after I asked her to confirm that I had to wait even more days because the order for the replacement part was made 5 days after the service personnel were out (12/17/19). They stated they ordered the part at that time, but in fact did not order the part until 5 days later - per the personnel that answered the phone on 1/4/2020. I sent the original email on the 13th of Dec. which was a day after my refrigerator went out.

It is now the 5th of January 2020. So that all my food did not spoil I purchased an ice chest and after days of going back and forth to a station for ice I purchased a small refrigerator. In another week it will have been a month without the refrigerator. After spending about $2000 for a product that now doesn’t work and substitutions, so I don’t lose more, I am the one made to suffer even more and made to wait. This is in addition to receiving the worst customer service I have ever received. (I have spent time on the phone with Microsoft and Apple and in comparison, they were jewels.)

I researched this fridge thru Consumer Reports and it got a pretty good rating. But I don't know why!! I purchased this in June of 2017. THIS IS THE WORST FRIDGE I HAVE EVER OWNED!!!! There is only ONE TEMP CONTROL for the Freezer and fridge. If you want the freezer colder, then you have to make the fridge colder, too!! Plus the knob is right where you put tall items on the top shelf of the fridge. So, it was constantly being knocked out of position. I had to TAPE THE CONTROL KNOB IN PLACE!!! And, now, the freezer has a collection of frost/ice along the bottom of the freezer door!! Plus, on occasion, there is water on the floor in front of the fridge. I need to keep a thermometer in the refridge to make sure that the temperature remains accurate. And once in a while it warmer than it should be.

I will say that the space of the 21CUSF is a very nice size. The bins and shelves are fine quality and roomy. But I am greatly disappointed in the performance! I could understand these type of things happening to a 5, 8, 10 or 15 year old refrigerator. Not one that is 2-1/2 years old! My trust in KENMORE has been destroyed. It's NOT THE QUALITY PRODUCTS OF THE OLD DAYS. If I can get rid of this fridge, I'll spend the money and buy an L.G. SO LONG KENMORE....

I purchased a Kenmore Elite Refrigerator and Freezer set in August of 2013 while living in Guatemala, Central America. The units were floor models, but since Sears offered a guarantee, I was sure they would stand behind their product. After remodeling the kitchen to accommodate the side-by-side refrigerator and freezer set and a day or so after installing them, the relay of the refrigerator began making louder-than-normal clicking noises that could be heard throughout the house, but the refrigerator would not start even though the temperature had risen inside. The freezer sweat and frost formed on the inside of the door and filled the empty space within the outside and inside layers of the door.

The servicemen Sears' sent never stayed long enough to listen to the refrigerator start a cycle and, I was told later, that they never recorded their visits with Sears. Only I had records. It was all very suspect and upsetting. When the guarantee was up, all of a sudden they knew what was wrong and what needed to be replaced. I wrote to Kenmore and the CEO of Kenmore and visited Sears repeatedly, certain they would take care of the problems since they had existed from the beginning. I was given the run-around or never responded to. I had the case number #** with Sears' Customer Solutions Department and the account number ** with the Protection Agreement Group in the U.S. and was sent a $50. gift card "for any inconvenience experienced."

I have had to have servicemen out more than TWENTY times and have been without a refrigerator and or freezer for weeks at a time. On the refrigerator, I have had to pay to replace the relay twice, the compressor once, the timer twice, the thermostat at the beginning of 2019, and now it is leaking oil from the compressor from faulty soldering where the copper tube connects with the refrigerator.

I have had to send the freezer door to the shop twice. Their solution was to stuff the space within the door with styrofoam, but the frost continues to form around it, causing the door to be extra heavy. They never sealed the layers of the door so humidity wouldn't get in. And the freezer sweats on the outside between the units even though I have them separated by a few inches. I have never had such terrible service, and, had I not remodeled the kitchen for the appliances and could find a set with the same dimensions, I would get rid of the Kenmore Elites.

The refrigerator after just 11 months, before the one year warranty expired, started collecting water in the bottom floor of the refrigerator (upper unit) and did not cool anymore, lost lots of food. Called their technical repair number, they sent a “technician “ who basically told me it was my job to fix it, that the problem was that I needed to defrost the refrigerator completely, wait a couple days and plug it again in order to defrost the ice that would collect on the back wall and resulted eventually in water pooling at the bottom and not cooling; never mind that it was the middle of summer and that I owned only ONE refrigerator.

After many sour discussions with their repair service (How can a less than one year old refrigerator suddenly stops working?) and their insistence that they would NOT give me a new refrigerator, I decided to do as they said: defrost it, wait 2 days, plug it back. It worked for 4 months, after this period it starts all over again with same problems, called again, this time however, I was told it wasn’t under warranty any longer (1 yr 3 months old) so I had to pay for the repair, trip of technician and any parts.

For 2 1/2 years they would come to repair for it to only last approx. 6 months before breaking down again. After the 3rd year a tech comes and explains that the ice maker has been recalled, it's non repairable. Now year 4, the unit stopped cooling! They come and replace the control board because it was on recall too. Really???

Now I'm on technician visit number 6 within 2 weeks. Day after installation of new board... warm again!!! No freezer, no refrigerator. "Ma'am it's your compressor." Another week for compressor to arrive, installed, nothing. The thing is warmer with new compressor. Why??!! I have had 9 visits as of date, new and updated compressor, new ice maker, and new control board. Nothing is working!!! I'm sooo frustrated now that no one wants to take ownership. I was able to order and replace the Evaporator Motor in the freezer and that solved the issue. Other than that it seems that the cooling process is much worse on today's models of fridges as they both share the controls for the cooling setting.

Our warranty was one year, therefore we had no warranty left. When trying to call to talk to someone I could never get through EVER. I tried several times. I then tried the "chat" service. I made an appt (only time available was a month out). I tried several times through the chat service to complain about the fact that we have only had it a little over one year. No one could help me, they would just say "sorry, for the inconvenience". I continued to get the runaround. They would just send me to all different departments via the chat service.

I also tried four different phone numbers (that were either given to me on their online chat service or phone numbers I saw on online) however, ALL the different phone numbers linked me back to the same automated service. I was on hold for over one hour and hung up because no one answered. NO ONE helped me. I am shocked. Finally showed up and found they ordered wrong part. Gotta wait again. Thank God we could borrow my son's old old fridge otherwise we would be completely WITHOUT a fridge. Sears told us to notify our insurance company for loss of use!! Thought I was buying quality product but all we got was a high priced cheaply made refrigerator and very very poor customer service. And they are very aware of this problem but not seeing any recalls. Never again Sears! Kenmore! LG!

Bought a Kenmore Elite Fridge in December 2013, when remodeling our kitchen. The compressor went last week, June 2019, and there is no 10 year warranty on Sears LG compressors. LG Canada was useless and stated even though it is their product, they are not responsible for its compressor. It’s a $3,500 fridge and we’re out the major cost of a new compressor. A class action suit in the USA gives us food for thought. Don’t buy Kenmore Appliances and especially not LG Appliances.

I purchased a Kenmore French Door Refrigerator Model 74012. They no longer sell this model. My refrigerator ran fine for 2.5 years. Here are the events regarding my Kenmore Model 74012: 4/25/19 The refrigerator went to room temperature. Called Sears Warranty on 4/26/29. I lost over $600 in food and got reimbursed for $300 in food through Sears Master Protection Warranty. Getting food reimbursement was the easy part. Technician came 5 days later. Part came 3 days after Technician ordered it. 18 days from reporting the problem, I have a repairman replacing my compressor.

5/14/19 Technician replaced the Compressor. The refrigerator & freezer never got cold (not even a little). Another tech was sent out and parts were ordered... 20 days later... 5/24/19 Technician replaced the Condenser and Filter Dryer. The fridge & freezer worked for 2 days. I lost food ($160) & got reimbursed for all of it. On 5/26, I was calling but it was before Memorial Day. I had to wait until 5/28 to call in the repair. Really bad timing. 6/7/19 Technician replaced the evaporator, refrigerator cabinet and filter dryer. Labor was over $900 and the warranty covered parts & labor. This was the cost of another refrigerator. Refrigerator will not get colder than 50 degrees.

I was really upset. A family of 6 did not have a refrigerator for over 42 days. And we still do not have one. Sears agreed to buy me a new fridge. I am now shopping for a new one. Had I not had the extended warranty I would have had thousands of dollars into repairing this refrigerator and still had a broken refrigerator. So the warranty was worth it. Since I know that the inside of my refrigerator is LG, I will not buy LG or Kenmore as I look for another refrigerator. They lost my business. I got a Kenmore back in 1998 that lasted for 10 years. It was replaced by another Kenmore that lasted for 6 years. Followed by this one that lasted for 2.5 years. I see a trend.

I have been without a full sized refrigerator for over 6 weeks. Sears is extremely slow to book a diagnostic and repair appointment. Repairmen missed their 4 hour window 2 out of 3 times. On the last appointment repairman showed up at 3:00 when the window was 10-2:00. I had to take time off from work multiple times losing precious vacation time. AND I STILL HAVE A NON-FUNCTIONING REFRIGERATOR! Regarding the refrigerator, it worked very well for 2.5 years. I liked the slide away shelves and big open bins in the doors. I will look for these features in my next one. I didn't like the 1 Full-Width, Adjustable Temperature Drawer because it would often stick and not push in well. I always had a fear that it was going to break. As I shopped around tonight for another refrigerator, it seems that this drawer still has its issues. It is cheaply made and does not slide open/close very well.

The spill proof shelves leak. You spill something, expect to not get it cleaned very well unless you take all the shelving out. I found spills in places I did not know existed. The last repairman had to take all the shelving out to replace the refrigerator cabinet or evaporator. This exposed our spills. He did not seat the shelving and drawers back properly. None of the drawers shut very well and the drawers are crooked. Since my refrigerator is empty at the moment, I can honestly say that if I had food in there, the drawers would not open. It is running for the past week at 50 degrees. It won't get colder. So I am keeping some of my fruit and water in there. Since the shelving is not seated properly, the shelving is rubbing from the normal vibrations of the refrigerator making noise.

The french doors have their issue too on this model. The repairman came out within a week after we purchased the refrigerator to adjust the doors and mentioned that it is best to close the left door then the right. Open the right and then the left. You can see how it closes & overlaps and looks like something that could break. Poor design. In my opinion and experience, I would say that Kenmore's quality has dropped. Repair work has dropped in quality too. Sear's warranty, although expensive, is worth the money.

My final take on refrigerators is that Congress should be looking into the quality of appliances and how the consumer is being ripped off. As I read reviews of all Makes and Models it seems that Makers of refrigerators are making them disposable within a few years like our cell phones (comparison made since cell phones can cost just as much as some of the lower capacity refrigerators).

Purchased a new Kenmore Refrigerator less than a year ago and it has already stopped working. Kenmore used to have good appliance products, but not anymore. This model is actually made by LG, and had a history of compressor issues. It looks great and has nice features, but it will not last. After working fine for 10 months, I noticed the freezer defrosting and had to throw away everything in it. Also noticed the fridge getting warm. Luckily I purchased an extended warranty, so I thought.

I called Sears and they said they could not send out a technician for a week. After calling several times, I was able to get the appointment moved up a few days. The technician said the compressor had failed and it would take a couple of weeks to get the parts. He said it was common problem. You would think they would have the parts on hand if they know it happens often. I have requested a replacement, too avail. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY a Kenmore. Get Whirlpool instead.

DO NOT BUY AN APPLIANCE FROM SEARS... ESPECIALLY A KENMORE PRODUCT! We purchased a Kenmore side-by-side refrigerator MODEL 106.51335710, from Sears in Sept. 2018. The ice-maker dripped from day 1. We were told to let the ice maker fill several times and the dripping will stop. Needless to say, the dripping did not stop. In October 2018 Sears agreed to exchange the refrigerator freezer for a brand new one. Same model. Same problem happened again. From day 1 the ice maker drips. The problem is after using the indoor ice dispenser, ice gets stuck in the chute. As the ice slowly melts, it drips, fills up the tray with water. The tray eventually fills up and water overflows to the floor. In addition, the ice that is stuck in the chute, eventually melts to a small enough size, falls out of the chute, bounces on the tray and falls to the floor. We have puddles of water on the floor, in front of the fridge, on a daily basis.

We just dealt with it. A friend recently visited and convinced me we should not have to deal with a product that has not worked from day 1 and I should take care of it before the warranty expires. Here the bigger nightmare begins. We called Sears, told them the problem and they agreed to send a service tech. The tech came out the week of May 13, 2019. He told me the ice maker dripping is "not desirable", but it is not broken. It is not considered broken just because it drips water. Water on the floor in front of my fridge (on a tile floor) is not a hazard. After much back and forth, he told me "he cannot disparage the company name." HIS EXACT WORDS. He got mad as i continued to press and he left.

After many calls to Sears again and many transfers to the useless "customer service center" in The Philippines we agreed to Sears' suggestion of having another tech come out. This tech was much nicer, but basically said the same thing. Although he did tell us he would "order a part, but it was not the correct part to fix our fridge. He has to order it because that's what his department is suggesting". I promise you...I couldn't make this stuff up if I tried. Not surprising - we called the customer service number we were given and that just looped us back to the useless customer service center in the Philippines. The service center suggested we have another tech come out. That appointment is set for tomorrow. See the pattern here? My hopes are low for ever getting this resolved. DO NOT BUY AN APPLIANCE FROM SEARS... ESPECIALLY A KENMORE PRODUCT!

We bought a Kenmore refrigerator from Sears in April of 2015 and in the last few weeks it started having a problem with cooling. We called a Kenmore appliance repair 800 number and a repair person came out within 3 days. They checked it, cleaned the coils and charged us $294. The refrigerator did not improve and in fact stopped cooling at all. We called the Kenmore repair number again and this time it took them at least 10 days to come back and when they finally returned we were told that the compressor was out and that it would cost $941 to repair. That is absolutely unacceptable for an expensive refrigerator to be 4 years old and stop working when the average life expectancy should be between 14 to 17 years. This speaks volumes about the poor quality of this product.

I think that Kenmore should be embarrassed to have a product that doesn't even come close to living up to the standard that it claims. As a consumer, I have no respect for a company that only thinks of themselves with no concern for the hard earned dollars that are required to purchase their product. Consumers! The first "technician" I spoke with tried to tell me that the noise is coming from the ice maker. When I didn't agree, she said to lower the temperature in both the fridge and freezer and wait 24 hours. I did that, but the noise persists. I called again.

The second "technician" explained that the noise is likely coming from the water filter because my water pressure is too high. I disagreed, and she suggested I unplug the fridge for two minutes to "reset" the system, then wait 24 hours for the unit to stabilize. I did that, and the noise persists along with the compressor running almost constantly. I'm now told that this sort of noise is normal in today's modern refrigerators and there is no need schedule a service call. I"m about at the end of my rope. Looking to correct the issue, we set up an appointment and the technician was set to come between 1pm-5pm. We called customer service several times to get an accurate time as it was nearing 5. No show. The customer service was awful. They were very unhelpful and “had no way to find out when the technician would be there and he would be there in his very reasonable time frame”. He did not come in his anything other than reasonable time frame. We were told we will need to reschedule for the following day because missing out on income and waiting for four hours is easy to do...again.

So very disappointed in Sears and their lack of customer courtesy, the fact that there is no accountability in standing behind their products, and their complete disregard for dealing with issues. It was difficult at best to contact and talk to anyone and when we did, we were met with even more inconvenience and extremely poor customer service. I would also have to say I’m disappointed in Kenmore as well. I expected something just shy of $3,000 to work longer than two years. Although I hope it’s a simple fix, it’s really hard to tell since we can’t get someone from Sears here to fix it.
