All of the associates at KB were positive, professional, and caring. We had a wonderful first-time home-buying experience with KB. We always felt like we were treated fairly and that all our wants and needs were met throughout the entire process.

We fell in love and signed on our first visit. Things happened quickly and smoothly. We were very well informed the entire process. The house is beautiful. Everything speaks quality. We have so much value in our home.

After further working with KB Home we were able to address our issues. Despite my prior experience I am happy that they showed concern, and are coming out to repair our downstairs ceiling as well.

We really were happy with having a brand new home, and the upgrades while very costly were something we thought we were happy with. I would be singing a very different tune about them if we didn't have such a rough time with their support after though. Almost magically after 2 years their support becomes very dismissive. We had items like our AC unit go out, and had a war to get it repaired after 1 year and spent some time without AC on a 1 year old house. We also had cracks form in our bathtub on the very bottom, and I was basically called a liar when I said I didn't drop anything on it since the representative said it had a mortar bed across the whole thing. Now we had to take it out since a larger hole broke in it, and they changed their mind once it became know that the mortar barely coverage half the bottom and now claim its just been too long.
Their support doesn't care if the issues start before your two year warranty ends, and it really feels like they just try and limp you past it. I would be very careful about buying from them, and keep thorough documentation. This last event really soured my review of them, and sadly I am being pushed into a class action with several neighbors due to the most recent events.

From the time I walked in to the sales office (model home) & Pat told me they had a move in ready home available, to the day I closed it was a very easy process. Pat, Lori, Steve & Dale were all very proactive in getting me closed as quickly as possible & were very informative along the way. I cant thank them enough for all they did to get me to closing within 30 days.

This is our first time building a home but our second home we have bought. KB has been fun watching the house go up and discussing all the ideas. Our backyard has a pond and it's nice watching the geese and ducks. Very happy overall!

We had an amazing experience in this purchasing! We are in love with our new house! Since day one to the end of my closing day Pat and Lori were a blessing from heaven whom made my dream come true. I cannot be more thankful and happy because of their professional experience, knowledge, and help through the entire process I own my dream home in Florida. Every cabinet in the kitchen or bathrooms opens into something. Several doors hit walls. The attic ladder runs into the office door Jam. When I was buying my home I referred a friend who bought home as well. I was told I would receive $250 then was told, "No. It's only $50." Never was paid a cent. KB Home sent out several surveys which I completed with this information in them and have never hear back from anyone. The house is delivered all at once nailed together with Gusset plates. My issues here is KB does not want to hear about the design issues. What is the point of sending out surveys.

We are a little over 2 months into our new home purchase and everything went not only according to plan but better than in some situations. You get a great value for what you pay and they are there at every step to help you in your home buying process. I highly recommend KB Home to you and your family.

Overall, KB builds a great home. I've heard many horror stories about other builders and great things from realtors and others about KB. We recognize that nobody's perfect, but KB has taken steps to remedy anything we've been unhappy with - which isn't very much - and that's very important to us. We are also very happy with all the features of the home.

In April 2016 I purchased a new residence from KB Home (Mission Gate). Since that date I have filed multiple claims (10+) with their warranty department for construction defects and workmanship issues. KB Home has refused to address my concerns after multiple attempts to remedy many outstanding issues citing that everything was "industry standard".
Issues ranging from drywall (nails/texture/etc), plumbing (failing fixtures/shower leaks/etc), improper hood range install (including improper ventilation), exterior stucco cracks, garage/driveway concrete issues (including stains/improper movement, undersized HVAC system (including coils/ducts), improperly installed cabinets, crooked granite countertop and front yard landscaping (including no drainage/dead plants/soil issues/no weed barrier).
Exhibit A: Improperly sized HVAC system including uneven attic insulation and poor ductwork with uneven airflow. The current system does meet federal regulations. This repair item exceeds $20,000. Exhibit B: Failing garage concrete including staining/efflorescence/etc. Driveway concrete has been sliding down towards the street causing lower curb/street damage. This repair item exceeds $15,000.
KB Home has falsely advertised that this home is Energy Star Rated: There is not a single LED light in the entire house including the garage. The recessed light housing was not wrapped properly for heat leakage. There was no smart thermometer installed for efficiency. Closets/etc. have no ventilation which generates trapped heat. No indication that energy efficient wall insulation was installed.
I have not received the HERS report from KB Home. Furthermore the developer provided an unspecified energy inspector report that was both false and misleading. The windows may or not be energy efficient. The solar panels only generate about $7/month. KB Home claims that there is an energy savings factor with no evidence. There is however evidence that KB Home and their contractors cut corners in an attempt to save money. I have had multiple contractors confirm that the workmanship is the worst they have ever seen in a new home.
I decided that I would e-mail Rich Howard (Senior VP, Inland Customer Service) addressing my issues. Mr. Howard decided that I was not worth his time. As a direct result I filed a complaint against KB Home through the Contractors State License Board (http://cslb.ca.gov). Upon receiving the complaint letter KB Home offered to resolve any outstanding issues. After completing a single repair they ignored the remaining issues and made false statements in an effort to have the complaint closed.
After speaking with the agent handling my case the complaint was then sent to an enforcement specialist. KB Home demanded that an industry expert be sent to my residence in an effort to "prevent [them] from incurring a cost for [their] defense." After submitting multiple invoices and letters from licensed contractors I discovered that KB Home went on the offensive. Their attorney contacted the licensed HVAC contractor who wrote an evaluation and threatened him with a subpoena.
Then that same attorney "accepted a new position" after I reported him to the State Bar. As the arbitration date was fast approaching KB Home sent me a lowball offer and wanted me to sign their non-disclosure agreement basically waiving my legal rights. Not only did they want to protect themselves but every single subcontractor they currently use for their existing developments. I declined and the arbitrator awarded me an undisclosed amount. This entire process took nearly two years with KB Home dragging out the process. They even continue to claim that they don't owe me anything.
If you purchased from KB Home I would highly suggest that you hire an experienced home inspector. Make sure that this individual checks everything from top to bottom including your foundation (if possible). Don't forget that you have legal rights which protect you against construction defects. Make sure that you document your warranty claims. I would highly recommend that you submit your claims through e-mail for future reference. If the issue does not get resolved the first time then make sure you notify the developer. This way you are prepared for arbitration/legal issues/etc. Do not forget that you signed an arbitration clause and therefore you must attempt to resolve your complaint(s) in arbitration before taking legal action. KB Home is currently being investigated for construction defects by Milstein Jackson Fairchild and Wade LLP.

When we started the process we were not at all ready to buy a home, we just went to a seminar to have an idea how the buying process would be since it was going to be our first home. After the seminar we were sold and started the process of buying right away. We got much help from the realtor, sales associates, lender etc... to make the home buying process a reality. Overall the experience with KB Home was great and we would recommend KB Home to friends and family as well.

The home is beautiful! We love our KB Home and feel happy with our decision. Not happy with our backyard and gate. Can barely get trash cans through the door. Would love it if they built homes with more backyard room. The backyard is disappointing. Overall, the house is wonderful and well insulated with energy saving features and beautiful upgrade options. We would recommend KB Home. Make sure you ask lots of questions before purchasing.

Before buying my KB Home, I had read reviews or heard negative comments about this builder. I bought here because my good friends bought a home previous to me in this development. My entire experience was nothing but exemplary. The sales, financing/loan, design, construction, and post-sale staffs were all top-notch and I have no complaints. I'm happy with the quality, the design, the features, and the value. Overall an excellent new home-buying experience.

I would recommend KB. I read a lot of reviews prior to building with them and most of the issues I found could be resolved if the home buyer got their own inspector. I found this to be the case for me as well. My inspector found several issues during the home building process and KB responded quickly to resolve them all. At the end, everything is fine with my house one month in. I will say, the inspector commented that the house was being built well and all the issues he identified were minor.

Absolutely the worst buying experience in my adult life! The two factors centered around disrespectful conduct by sales agent and a lack of communication. As an employee on Ft. Sam Houston, I cannot say at this point that I would recommend KB as a builder to meet a home buying need.

I visited different new construction neighborhoods in the immediate area, I found the KB Home sales staff to be more personable and outgoing as I looked at the models. The model homes had good layouts and were more reasonably priced than the surrounding neighborhoods. Very happy with my decision to buy a KB Home.

KB Homes exceeded our expectations. The most surprising aspect of our experience happened after they completed that house. You would think they will just disappear after they turned over the house to us, but they did exactly the opposite. They always check up on us to make sure everything is in working order and to our satisfaction. Nothing is ever perfect and KB Homes know that. What is important to any customer is how fast issues are addressed. KB Homes not only addresses things almost instantaneously, but they also check up on you regularly to make sure everything is to our satisfaction.

I needed a house to close in 6 days. That was accomplished. The title company and the building company all worked together to get that accomplished quickly. This is a national company with experience from many state codes and restrictions. So your house gets the benefit of a national code versus a limited local code. This was especially beneficial in Bexar county where there are no building permits.

We saw the house and immediately fell in love. The outside could be a different color but we can live with it. From the time we saw the house to closing we had constant contact with Lori and Dale to make sure everything was coming along as planned and we closed on the exact date we had planned all along.

The best value in a house we’ve ever seen. They curate the product offerings based on feedback from previous homeowners--generally, we found that this means we get better quality stuff and great prices due to national-level sourcing. Great design studio to help pull it all together and upgrades are reasonable price. Only issue we had was our closing date kept getting pushed out when we were within a week of closing--this led to a lot of tense moments as we negotiated with our landlord to let us stay longer than our stated move out date (we had to give this 60-days in advance, and we even padded it with a week).
The main issue is KB wants you to be 100% happy with the house at move in, which is great, except when “perfect” becomes the enemy of “have a place to live next week”. KB needs some way to make the final weeks more predictable, either by expediting work via overtime or allowing contingent (<100% done) move-ins. For us, it was a sewer line issue that took two tries to fix (w/in a week of closing). Had to dig up yard and our sod twice to get the fix done. After two months in the house are quite happy with our purchase.

Even if I had same negative observations on the work done I still say KB HOME is the builder I would chose and recommend against every other builder from the area and for sure I talked to people about building here if they want a good house. We choose our dream house- Elevation B, $14,146 upgrade and a $2,000 fridge credit for $288,136. As soon as we gave the $5,000 down payment everything change quickly... We end up with an Elevation A, $3,878 upgrades and $0 credit= NO FRIDGE house for $286,218. Looking an estimated 5,918 dollars.

From the initial walk in of the first model home, to the sales staff I was instantly sold on what I imagined my family and I spending much of our time and lives together. The open floor plan, amazing kitchen & island, and overall practical layout of the home made it an easy decision. Compared to the competition, the price of the home along with the feature made it make sense. I checked in throughout the construction process with the proactive staff often and never had a need or question left unanswered. The process was fast, friendly and exciting. The home for us turned out even better than the model home! We are so happy overall and thank every single person who help make this a reality for our family.

We had a KB Home built Sept 2017. The home was built over 1 month past the scheduled completion date. Most things in the home look like they were just thrown together. Most of the floors feel like they have air pockets in them, the cabinets are crooked, doors don't close properly in some areas, crown molding looks like it was just thrown up there, pencil marks everywhere they installed something, paints spots all over the hardwood floors. They just put the house together like they didn't care about the homeowner would feel about the finished product. I would not recommend anyone to have their home built by KB Homes.

We have been trying to purchase a house since Oct 2017...retried again In Feb. 2018. We did everything we were told to do fixing our credit...lower our credit cards and still nothing. The only person that helped us was Alejandro ** from Las Misiones. We spoke to 2 loan people. Mr. **...I never heard from him again then we were talking to a Gloria **. We spoke to her 1 time. The rest never heard from her again. We would leave msg. and text and no reply back. Very bad experiences. Although the only person that replies back is Alejandro and I appreciate that but looks like we will be going elsewhere.

This company clearly doesn't care about their customers. They leave you high and dry when their subs use faulty products and you're forced to fend for yourself against contractors who don't care about making things right. I've reached out to my local KB office multiple times and am not getting any response about my fire sprinklers that have been proven to go off WITHOUT A FIRE, resulting in total devastation. A handful of my neighbors have had their entire homes flooded and destroyed, and now their homes have to be rebuilt.
NO ONE at KB is returning my messages or trying to help all of us in these homes built between roughly 2013-2015 which are affected. The sub KB used is grossly understaffed to deal with this issue so all contacts with that company have resulted in very lame conversations with zero answers about when our fire sprinklers will be replaced. The fire sprinkler manufacturer also will not allow any other contractors to do the replacement and will not provide replacement product for us to get this taken care of on our own. In the meantime, we just have to wait and hope our homes don't flood and destroy all of our belongings.

I purchased my home about 1.3 years ago. Several surveys have come out and some of the design issues I put on there were. Several kitchen cabinet doors open onto something like the microwave the oven and that goes for the same in the master bath. My backyard door opens into a low ceiling. My pantry door opens into the a kitchen counter. The master bath bathroom door opens into the bathroom counter. The attic stairs open into the top of my office doors and the stairs have cracked because you really have to push back on them to get them to open.
The house next to me is the same model and they built it window for window do bedrooms, living room window and dining area look right into the house next door. I asked KB to at least extend the fence down. They said no. Referred a friend. They bought a house. I was told I would receive $250 referral then they changed it to $50. Never got it. No one has contacted me about these issue. Seems like they don't care.

This company has less than zero interest in the customer. There are a few that are nice in terms of customer service, but they are hamstrung by a company policy that clearly believes in doing anything to save a buck. I have been lied to by employees (including management), they work with businesses who can't get anything done and they don't have any interest in taking responsibility for what they do. This is literally the worst experience you could have while buying a house and they have no interest in even communicating. Run screaming from this terrible company.

KB Home built defective houses all over the state of Florida. I own one. They refused to honor warranties for years. After the whole state contacted lawyers, politicians, FTC, they repaired them. MY REPAIRED HOUSE IS LEAKING LIKE A SIEVE. They fixed the house with only one coat of stucco when three are required. The windows are not installed correctly. The whole stucco system does not drain correctly and the house is leaking and full of mold. The Attorney General found them guilty of deceptive practices but that still did not get the houses fixed. I'm ruined financially. 70% of our neighborhood defaulted. There is even one wrongful death lawsuit for exposure to mold of a child. How does this company have a high rating when they used to have hundreds of complaints on your site? Shame on you Consumer Affairs. I'm a senior citizen, my husband is a disabled VET. Shame on you all!

My KB home is poorly insulated. The heater keeps coming on all night but the upstairs is overly warm. There is a noticeable difference between the upstairs and ground level (4-5 degrees.) This causes the heater to overwork. The master bath is cold in the winter so we have to use the other bath. The heater is underpowered. The unit barely puts out any air and because of the insulation in the walls on the ground floor we have to shut the vents upstairs to help heat the ground floor. Even doing this the heater has to run all night. The heater has been repaired 6 times in the first 5 years. The repair company knows our house.
The electrical is another issue. The light switches are going out so often I have to keep spares on hand. I also have found a short in the wiring found in one bedroom and until I can afford to have the walls opened to repair it I have to shut down the circuit breaker. The lights in our kitchen started to go on and off. I tried replacing the bulbs but found out it's the socket. When they installed the linoleum they did not complete the installation under the refrigerator. They left it cut at an angle and not up to the wall. Every time we need to move the refrigerator it snags going in and out.
Every house I have seen sold around me the first thing I see come out is the bathtub. When they installed them they didn't put enough cement under them to support the bottom. They all have started to rust where the bottom flexes. I thought it was me weighing 250lb but I noticed that all of them had the same issue. The front door was shimmed poorly and is pulling out. Unfortunately we had a screen door installed by a company that makes it difficult to repair. The light fixtures in the bathrooms are poor quality and the chrome is rusted through. The exhaust fans in the bathroom failed too.
I have cracks above my doors upstairs where the foundation moved and my front door has to be pushed so hard to close and open. It's painful. You have to have two hands to open the door pull real hard with one and turn the key with the other or you will break the key off. The sliding door to the back was installed wrong and the locking mechanism broke. Fortunately for us I could repair it. The carpet and insulation are the cheapest I have ever see. Together the total thickness for the carpet and insulation are almost 1/2". I have more but you get the idea. It's no wonder that they have so many consumer complaints and lawsuits. There is no telling what will happen next.

Staff was very helpful, did not try to pressure into make a purchase. Build quality of homes and communities are excellent. Definitely would recommend builder to others, will be purchasing my home from builder. Could see the care and effort they put into constructing the homes and the available options.

New Build Copper Leaf village. The builders turn around a decent product but details are sloppy. I have a job which is very inflexible and the builder threatened me with fees when their shortcomings delayed our closing date. I had to do ridiculous things to meet their timelines for closing since supposedly they lose a lot of money per day, yet the company could care less about how they affected me. They blamed my lender, even though they messed up carpet, delayed closing and failed to account for the laws around an appraisal. Overall, I would not do this again. It is easier to buy a new home without the drama of a builder! I do not recommend this route unless you have a really flexible job and care less about customer service. The design center is okay, but pretty overpriced. Like I say, in the end, I would not recommend KB to friends, unfortunately.

Be VERY careful and ask All your questions & Read the reviews. This builder agent said December and now it's Feb 15th. They don't care how inconvenient you are & if you back out they just keep your money. So Never put down more than you have to. I was told today from the KB REP, "We could be delayed a year and we still wouldn't give you any money back." I ask her to compensate us by upgrading my dishwasher from black to stainless and she said, "NO. KB will not do that." So I've had a really bad experience with KB Home Watercrest and can't say I would Ever recommend this builder.

We are the second owners of a condo by KB Home in 2009. Unbeknownst to us, there were problems with the original installation of our laminate floor, which KB attempted to repair for the original owners. The floor was improperly installed, too close to the wall and was glued down. Therefore, it cannot expand/contract as humidity dictates. Last winter in California we had heavy rain after many years of drought. Our floor began buckling. KB came out to inspect, and at that time told us of the prior repair. However, since then they have refused to remedy the situation, citing various inapplicable statutes and code sections. Every time we pointed out an error in their legal argument, they changed their theory. We are to the point of consulting with a construction defects attorney, but clearly KB is not proceeding in good faith.

My overall experience with KB Home is they are an experienced group of people that can help get you a decent house and get a deal closed. I feel overall quality is less than excellent, based on my home and neighbors', but that the price paid tends to be appropriate for the craftsmanship. I would recommend to an entry level buyer to pay on the low end of the market, but I would encourage anyone interested in an entry level home to give KB Home a look.

We had never built a home so we really didn't know what to expect, however our experience with KB Homes overall was a great one. As we lived out of state, the sales staff, design center staff and construction manager were very accommodating of our timeframes. All parties were very knowledgeable in their areas of expertise. Our house was built within the promised timeframe despite Hurricane Harvey hitting the Houston area. There were minor glitches along the way but they were always promptly addressed to our satisfaction.

I purchased my home Oct 11, 2017. There are many issues with my home that was not move in ready when KB approved the closing date. It rained through my kitchen door, ceilings cracking, lower flex wall cracking, Hearing whistling noises through the bathroom vent when it’s windy, bathroom floor not leveled, back and front doors are not closing properly, garage door falling apart, recess lights flickering. KB repairmen have informed me to leave my own home if there is a storm because of the material KB uses. The electricians that KB sends have been to my home at least 4 times and my recess lights are still flickering.
All of the electricians said KB are buying cheap products that are not compatible with the dimmer. KB repairmen do not repair anything. It’s just a temporary fix for 2 weeks then I’m calling again about the same thing. Now, KB refuses to even attempt to repair anything because I’m fed up and suggested to get an attorney in order for them to fix things correct in my home. My home is under warranty. How can KB refuse to repair this house which is falling apart?

All the KB Home employees we worked with from initial sale to closing have done an amazing job and have been a pleasure to work with. However, the people actually building and doing construction or repairs on the home do a subpar job compared to what I expected given the cost of the house. We are working with warranty service to resolve the issues, but it's still annoying to have deal with so many problems in the first place.

What to say in order to convey our utter and complete satisfaction and love of our new home from initial design, which is great, and the ability to add things like a fourth bedroom, the third bathroom, the 300 sq foot covered patio, the rock exterior and the finished garage. I don't even know where to begin... From the sales, to the construction, all of the employees, customer service follow-ups, we have not had one positive experience in purchasing this house. I have already posted one review from before we moved in (yes it was even a nightmare then) and our problem then was rectified, but that doesn't even scratch the surface for the problems we have encountered in the year we have lived here.
During the construction of the subfloor on the second floor, the workers "forgot" to leave the 1/8" gap between the boards (even leaving some boards not even screwed in) causing them to warp from our furniture being on them for an extended period of time. The longer we lived on them the worse the warping was until they were protruding through our carpet, I've attached photos. Nothing was done about the aforementioned issue in 10 months of living in our home and we finally had to circumvent Logan, the onsite construction manager, to a higher level. Not only does this hinder our resale of the home but is malpractice on the construction of the structure of the house.
When said issue was taken control from Patrick, a higher level construction manager, we negotiated that I would be staying in the home while they would fix the floors - under the caveat that I would have decent sleeping/safety arrangements for my family. This was the worst decision ever. Not only did we not have decent sleeping arrangements, the construction lasted 2 full weeks and not one single safety precaution was set in place for my family.
Tac strips on thresholds were left open for days (while we had to live here and we have two small dogs), plastic curtains with zippers were left in doorways as well as one unanchored one to go up and down the stairs (not only one but two of us tripped on this almost falling down the first flight of stairs), the subfloor or glorified plywood was exposed to walk on (for multiple days to and from my children's rooms), all the while we had to remain in my home from 8am-4pm most days to let workers in and out, supervise and clean up their mess once they left. I'm including pictures. Let me add at one point that my other available options were that we could "sleep downstairs on an air mattress" or "find a place to stay with friends or family". Note that we are military, no friends or family in sight, and that I have 4 kids with my husband out to sea (known by the construction manager) for the duration of the construction on the floors.
We had a meeting with Patrick on Halloween (2 weeks ago) to have our 10 month walk through, 1 month late. There 21+ warranty items that have yet to be fixed. 1 has been fixed in the last two weeks. I was contacted by a customer service rep 2 weeks post construction, I believe his name was Darren? He said he would send me an email with his contact info and some kind of something to rectify the construction issue. That was almost two weeks ago. No email, no returned call.
Some of the major issues included in the warranty work needed: Backsplash - was compensation for installing the wrong cabinets... The guy came twice to put the backsplash in without the backsplash. On the second time, I told him to install the one they were supposed to with my original kitchen (it was taking up 1/4 of the floor in my garage). He installed it, missing the wall by the fridge, not installing the bullnose and kindly washing his grout mess all over my landscaping without cleaning it up. This was promised to get fixed, and nothing.
Concrete - It is literally crumbling every time it rains. I pressured washed some cobwebs off my front entry and there are now ripples. Same crumbling is even happening in my garage just where we walk, not even exposed to the elements. The sides of the screened in lanai and the front porch have bigger pieces actually missing (Logan claims the skidster hit part of it, but was just going to leave it at that and not fix it). I've included pictures. This was promised to get fixed, and nothing.
Baseboards - From the completion of the floor warranty work, the carpet installers completely jacked up our baseboards. Not a single care was taken when they were cutting and installing the new carpet. They banged their carpet stretcher all up and down the staircase and didn't clean up their mess when they were finished. Also, there was a HUGE language barrier and I could not communicate these issues with them at all. Every baseboard they touched needs to be fixed. This was promised to get fixed, and nothing.
Overhead lighting - By now I'm sure it's no surprise, but even the design studio had issues. I was the first customer for Rena and not only did my appointments last longer than they should have (2 8 hour days) she completely bypassed the overhead lighting in every single bedroom of the house. If we didn't upgrade to a ceiling fan or can light, it doesn't have a light at all. Same for the coach lights at the garage. None. So the only room with overhead lighting is our master, where we put a fan. This was promised to get fixed, and shocker, nothing.
Counter - The seem keeps separating (3 times now) said it will get fixed, nothing. We have continually been disappointed by the lack in care for us as customers, and the severe negligence and oversight in the construction/sales of this home. Nothing has been done in the year we have lived here to make us happy, or fix our issues to any kind of higher standard. Seriously think twice before purchasing from KB.

BEWARE. KB Home does not care about your house once you sign the loan documents. When things break and you have proof, they play the blame game and end up doing nothing. It is always someone else's fault. Buyer beware!!! My neighbor's water lines are buried in the same trench as mine and his line is vibrating and it is resonating into my house and causing damage to my wall. I can't even get them to come and look at it. Aside from that, my foundation cracked all the way across my house, cracked tiles, cracks in walls, doors that do not sit level and open and close on their own. Not happy at all with this company!

Our experience was great. KB Homes worked with us on making changes and trying to get everything just right. We are extremely happy with our home. Kristen in the design center was extremely patient with us and so nice, and we couldnt have asked for anyone better than Johnny! He went above and beyond what we were expecting. Mark, the warranty guy, is also wonderful and so helpful. The only negative thing we have to say is that the caulking could be better. It seems that a cheap product was used because it is already separating everywhere in the house.

KB Homes was great! - Almost everyone was pleasant and knowledgeable. Had a bit of trouble with the closing and person at closing. Due to Harvey my closing date, even though on their books, apparently was NOT the closing date. They need to figure this out much better and communicate. They told both agent and construction manager that I was closing on a certain date but when I called to confirm (they hadn't told me) she said I wasn't closing on that date. It was a horrible mess.

The price range is what led us to buy a KB Home but you get what you paid for. They are the Ross of home builders. The simple things you would think comes with the home (i.e. porch light, cable/phone plugs) are all upgrades which adds up. The quality of the final product is subpar. We moved into a brand new home with the air conditioner and dishwasher broken! We couldn't move in at our final walkthrough because there were so many issues with the home we used all of the blue tape to mark everything off. But as I said, you get what you paid for. In the end, I would not do it again and pay a little more for better quality. They do have good customer service but the quality of the product needs some work.

The Stearns Lending (preferred lender of KB Home) was the worst I have ever dealt with, lack of communication, when the manager got involved (after I got mad enough to finally have the processor get me the number) she knew about as much as I did about where my loan was in process. "She wasn’t allowed in her employees files” and in the end they couldn’t tell me why my monthly payment was a $150.00 more a month.
I want to start off by saying the staff was very helpful until the week before closing. I went through the house and marked all the issues that needed to be touched up. Did they fix most of the things but just pulled the tape off on the rest. So they said they would get it fixed after closing since they need to meet their deadline. It took time to get them over to fix things and to the point that I had to constantly follow up with them and on occasion even call the contractor myself after the customer service person (not so much of a customer service rep) to get it fixed. I did fill out the customer service serve and even though I put all this in the report, no one contacted me from the corporate office. I was promised a garage door opener if foreman got high marks for his part. Not knowing that it was combined from all departments. He didn't get the highest marks and I wrote a email his boss.
So now a year later I was ask to fill out the same form again and the customer manager would use the “KB dollars” he would get to do extra things to my house. I informed him that if I would fill out the form he wouldn’t get the high marks due to anything being done since I submitted the first serve. The customer service manager said he would have someone from the corporate office contact me. I did finally get a call from someone and they listened to me and all the issues. He said that he would have the different departments contact me regards to all my challenges I had with the process. I have yet to hear from anyone from KB Home.

My house is being built and is approaching completion. It seems that KB Home didn't study the home plan before building. I wanted to extend the driveway in front of the garage for 3 feet. They did it then they said the city of Austin didn't approve it, so there's an interstice between the driveway and the extended part. I just wonder why they didn't ask for city approval before doing it? Since then, I never feel safe when it comes to their construction. I went to the house every other day to check if there's anything wrong. Sadly, more problems came. They forgot to build the arch in front of the den, I asked them and they are now fixing it. They also made TWO walk-in closets in a small bedroom while there's no closet in the master bedroom. And now they forgot to run electrical wire on the ceiling for 4 dimmable lights although I did upgrade it in the contract.
They really piss me off! Do they think I would not remember what I upgrade so they can pass it easily?? Or do they just care about money, not quality?? I'm really afraid of the quality of this house. KB does so many things wrong, but I can check them out and ask KB to fix. BUT what about something inside that unobservable?? I know they had a bad reputation in other states. I hoped they'd be better now. However they made me so disappointed! CAN I FEEL SAFE WHEN LIVING IN A HOUSE WITH A LOT OF TROUBLES LIKE THAT?? I'll cancel the purchase if they keep making mistake like this! Can't stand anymore!!

We watched KB build homes before ours and was impressed with the quality, layout and options. The home we had built is more than we imagined and we are so glad we did this. The staff at KB Home has made my home buying experience a very pleasurable one. They made sure that I understood every phase of the construction and was able to see the home being constructed as the months progressed, from beginning to end. The team has been outstanding and exceeds expectations.

Where do I start, well let's start with home design studio. They show a bunch of products that are told to be installed in your house to find that was to not be true. Like the fact they use the cheapest and lowest end products available. Just to give a quick background, I have been in construction since I was 15. I had to stop building on my house due to the poor craftsmanship and lack of quality. Spoke to the Regional boss and she laughed at me over the phone (complete disrespect). Had to replace most of the items in the house due to plugs catching on fire, cheap garage door opener, breakers undersized and too many outlets on one circuit (14) and lights on one circuit.
My roof was "repaired within the first year and was told it was (2) loose tiles". Roof has been leaking for (2) years now. When hurricane Harvey blew through the water damage ruined my little girl's bedroom. (No other damage was done, we just had a lot of rain). It was denied by my insurance company for poor craftsmanship and improper installation. The roofers came out and said it was leaking from a nail that was still in place. Guess what? It is still leaking. Oh and the insurance company I use was from KB homes. It's been over a month since the last report and they still cannot seem to get this fixed. If anyone can help, it will be greatly appreciated. I am meeting with a lawyer either tomorrow or the following day. This is just one of the issues with my house and there are countless other issues with the houses in the neighborhood.
Also after you buy your house they constantly call for you to rate them. I gave them a one across the board and every time they would fix one item they would call back and ask if I would raise my review score which never changed. If you want a lot of run around and broken promises, then this is the company for you to build your home with all your hard earned money.
If anyone wants I have tons of pictures, text messages and emails. Just take a look at the header that is partially being supported by a piece of 2X4. The damage to my cabinets from being ripped out (3) times to build my kitchen right. Also the duct for the vent hood must not be sealed right due to the stain starting to show at the top of my ceiling. Had to reset every toilet in the house due to poor installation. All the CAT5 for phones or data usage, the ends weren't installed correctly. I can keep going but it's just making me that much more upset and angry. Also mold is starting to grow in the room.

I absolutely loved my experience with KB Homes. Everyone that I came in contact with did a great job with communication and being so helpful. Steve was the best, but also when was off work Susana was amazing help too. They both would help me through my loan process by allowing me to print out or fax information to the lender. Anytime I needed anything or just to vent they were there with solutions to help resolve the problem. Because of them I will recommend and purchase again through KB.

I really like my house, which is why it is unfortunate that I was lied to when they sold me my lot as an "end lot", and now are building 3 houses right next to mine. The dishonest sales practice is disappointing, and I feel I was misled. I would have built someplace else if they had just been honest with me. I am happy with my house, though.

This is a review to share my disgust and disappointment with KB Home. I was sold my million dollar home on false pretenses by a KB representative regarding the community. I was looking to buy a nice home, particularly within a nice community. The idea of a new build with a new community sounded appealing, but it has been a nightmare so far. I assumed KB Home would strive to keep the neighborhood aesthetically appealing to help aid the value of our homes, but they clearly don't care as long as their homes are selling. For the past year and a half, 2 commercial vehicles (Budget Blinds) have been parked right at the entrance of our million dollar home community. The homeowner that lives at the entrance owns them.
When you drive in, you will see a Budget Blinds van parked on the both the left and right side of the street. When buying our homes, we specifically asked about the eye sores and our KB Home representative told us they would not be allowed to keep them there once more people move in and not to worry (untrue). We read the HOA rules and CC&R rules which clearly state no commercial vehicles allowed within community so this sounded accurate. We moved in and immediately complained to the HOA board. Unfortunately, the HOA board consists of 3 KB Home executives and they have done nothing in regards to our multiple violation complaints about the vans. We have complained about this at HOA meetings and we also held an IDR (internal dispute resolution) meeting with the homeowner in violation, but KB Home HOA board members never show up or take any action against the violation.
We have spoken to attorneys and they are appalled that something so black and white in writing on legal documents is being ignored. The KB execs on the HOA board have been emailed and cannot deny the fact that we are upset, frustrated, etc. but have done nothing to rectify the situation. They will hold their board member seat for another 2 years in my community and they don't even live here. With the 3 of them, they hold majority vote on the board and are stalling us from any further action. This is absolutely disgusting that KB would develop a community with such high priced homes and outline the rules in which the community should abide, but then prohibit any action being taken to uphold the rules. Shame on KB Home!

Being a potential home owner/buyer I would expect professionalism to be shown across all aspects of the process. When visiting the sea cliff building site and Julie being very courteous and helpful I expected that from the people running the site. I decided NOT to purchase a home from KB due to the way I saw workers being treated. Yes that's correct. When purchasing a home I truly believe quality comes from people being on a job and actually enjoying and taking pride in their work. I witnessed the superintendent named Rory (don't know last name) being rude and condescending to the men who were doing the actual work.
I felt extremely bad for the man he was yelling at simply because he had set one of his tools on the counter. I understand it's due to scratches and such but I mean to curse and be a complete ** for lack of Better terms was absolutely unacceptable. These guys are doing the actual work while you just boss them around. I was mortified. needless to say I would never purchase a home from a company that condones this type of behavior. I'd rather buy an already built home which I did! But I couldn't just let this go because the laborers etc need to be treated with more respect.

Our overall experience with KB Home was satisfactory. After looking at the models on February 12, my husband and I signed a purchase agreement for a Reggie model at Olive Lane on February 14. It didn't take us long to decide since we have been looking for homes all over Fresno and Clovis for that size and price range, but every time we came across a model we loved with another builder, we would learn that they had little to no backyard. KB Home offer great lot sizes with ample backyard space. The quality of our home is pretty good (not excellent), considering the construction team took 3.5 months to build from the ground up. There were just minor details with paint and corners that could have been handled better, not deal breakers though and they were easy fixes.
We most appreciate the construction manager, Scott, who kept us informed and allowed each visit to feel very reassuring. We liked our sales rep, Misty, who stayed honest and candid with us throughout the process. She did rush us a bit in the beginning, which we didn't feel comfortable with because this is our first home-buying experience, but as we approached closer to closing escrow, she became more accommodating and got things done and questions answered for us.
The biggest downside of our experience was dealing with the preferred lender, Stearns. As mentioned this is our first time buying a home and the loan process is the most nerve-racking part. They had one rep who we just preferred not to work with since she wasn't 100% professional and only answered our questions when it was convenient for her. Everyone else at Stearns, however, compensated for her performance and reassured us once again until the close of escrow. I would recommend KB Home to couples & families on a budget and that already have their own preferred lenders in place.

I was happy with the community, however the contract/purchase phase sucked. I signed my contract and informed the seller of the one thing I had left pending. They didn't even allow me to complete my financing period, wanted to skip straight to closing 2 wks after I signed. And after sending my lender the ratified contract. Kicking me off the contact yet they took my earnest money when I signed the contract. Total BS!
I was even foolish enough to fall for applying with their lender thinking it would help acquire the information they were adamantly requesting for no reason because he had to wait on the same thing I informed them on from the start. I signed my contract expecting to be able to close within 30 days but wasn't allowed to. They only want to move their merchandise. They are not really looking for good potential families. They are all about the money and how fast they can move their inventory. So that they're free to move on to the next project.

The most important thing is how comfortable we felt during the process. This is our second house, but the first one we've built. We were scared out of our minds having to make so many decisions and worrying about their long term ramifications. Yes I want knobs on the cabinets, but does that take away my kitchen sink in the guest bathroom? Should I extend the patio or put in wiring for a speaker system? So many decisions truly do affect your everyday life and it can be an exciting process or extremely stressful. KB did a great job in making it an enjoyable, exciting process.

I am in my 4th year of problems with KB Homes. Nearly every system in my home (Austin, TX) has had some problem. Thankfully, I haven't had the foundation problems or serious water intrusion problems that were reported in the news. I have never had to move out, just lots of visits to fix things, and you have to beg to get them to do warranty claims. Another thing... The onslaught of positive reviews that appear here starting in late 2016 for KB Home, there is no possible way that they are real. Something is going on. I live in a very small KB Home neighborhood, and I have talked to 20 of 25 neighbors about this, and not one ever said they were satisfied. KB Home is a profoundly and deeply troubled company. Just google them and you can find a trove of Federal consumer rights actions taken against them.

KB provides a lot of "house" for not too many "Benjamins"! Our KB Homebuying experience was great. It was journey that lasted 4 months. Our Construction Manager was just AWESOME. He was so actively involved with the home building process and kept in touch with us not once, not only twice but numerous times per week. He kept us fully a part of the process and was never too busy to reply with an answer to our questions. Any concerns or issues we had he took care of quickly and professionally.
Also our Studio visit was awesome due to dedicated KB warrior, Brenda **! She displayed a wealth of experience and actually seemed interested in our personal tastes so she could provide specific recommendations for our selections. Needless to say, we were in love with our new home from Day 1 of moving in as our selections blended together oh so perfectly. If you want to build your home with many options customize to your tastes and still keep the overall costs very reasonable in today's booming San Antonio housing market. We've had nothing but a fabulous experience with KB Home - from the girls in the sales office to the Superintendents in charge of our build. Everyone has been incredibly courteous, helpful, and prompt when we needed something fixed. The customer service team was on hand the day we moved in and made sure everything was fixed promptly (minor paint touch ups, drywall work). We highly recommend them as a builder - we were updated weekly and had the superintendent's phone number in case we had any questions.

Purchased a new home from KB. Moved in Oct 2015. During and after construction I have had continuing problems with the quality of construction of my KB homes. Everything from Windows/Appliances/Roof, you name it. It took almost a year to get most of the items corrected. I paid quite a bit extra for an "upgraded" front door. After a little over a year I noticed several cracks in the door and daylight coming through (middle of the door). I complained - was informed it was my fault due to "negligence" (not sure what that means). I think most people would expect a new door to last for years.

Garbage disposal never worked, can't switch utilities into my name until the builder turns in the inspection paperwork. Repeated emails and no one responds to my complaints.

****DO NOT BUY A KB HOME! **** Nine months ago, my husband and I purchased a brand new KB Home in Santa Clarita. To achieve our dream and give our children the family home we always wanted ourselves, we saved all that we could, took out from our 401K and LITERALLY invested everything we had into purchasing this KB Home. But it's been nothing but a nightmare. We have written multiple emails to customer service, division president and even the CEO of KB. And they simply reply back that it's within industry standards, and just evading our requests. Our home was built with no care. As we moved to Santa Clarita from Corona, which is a 3 hr drive one way, we were not lucky enough to see our home being built. We had trusted KB in building our home correctly and safely.
For the past nine months, we have had submitted over 600 claims in defects of this newly built KB home. They have only fixed about 15 of those claims, and some of the "fixed" claims created more damage and more claims to be open. We have even hired a third party inspector to check the structure of our home, as I will attach the report with this letter. Some of the things that were found were absolutely ridiculous. I will mention just a few:
Our attic isn't even attached correctly. (The metal plates aren't even attached.) They forgot to attach caps on our roof, which may have cause wood rot because of all the rain this past year. There are more than 10 broken tiles on our roof. The brick wall caps are not even cemented down and come right off. There is a 10 point checklist and that was not finished and signed. Missing wood beams on our stairs. The carpet was not installed correctly, every corner is not stapled to the ground and can be lifted out. We found nails, screws, staples and a 9 inch razor blade that my 4year old son found and started to play with. Just last week, I found over 20 birds living under our roof tiles because they didn't close off the corners of our roof. Our flooring downstairs has bubbling throughout the house. Our air conditioning unit had missing screws and it's not even leveled.
These problems should not be problems at all for a brand new home. Obviously, there was no quality control and their inspector did nothing but pass and sign the inspection reports. As some of the checkpoints were not even signed off, which is why there is so much debris under our floors. I am writing this because it has brought so much stress on me and my family. They treat us with no respect and express that our claims are a joke. Even to fix one claim, they come look at it and tell us to be home on a certain day from 10-3pm, and a vendor will show up and fix that ONE claim.
I would have to stay home, ask someone to pick up my daughter from 1st grade and later, without a phone call, they weren't able to make it out because the vendor is still working on another home. Another time, our flooring wasn't flushed to the kitchen island and KB sent a man to repair it. It took him 5 hours to "cover" the mistake. They did not even fix the problem but simply just put a mold to cover their mistake and told me again that it was industry standards.
Five years ago, I was diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. After the birth of my son, my body seemed to have been overstressed and I was unable to walk. With lots of testings and Dr. visits, we found the cause and treated it right away. I have been stable and healthy with the infusion I get monthly that helps with my overactive immune system. I haven't had any flare ups. However, with all the stress KB has given me, my body seems to slowly be dying. I had a seizure five months ago in our new KB home, landed right on my face in the back yard and broke three of my front teeth. I was hospitalized for 3 days.
And just last month, I was diagnosed with lupus and celiac disease. My body has exponentially deteriorated. I am a mother of two and weigh only 100 pounds. I now see a therapist two times a week to alleviate my stress. My rheumatologist said that all the stress from KB is exasperating my immune system and more diseases are arising. The infusion I took for years, is no longer working and creating antigens. I now take anti anxiety medicine 3 times a day. From all this, my husband and I pleaded and repeatedly asked them to help us fix all the mistakes. We have three months left until our 1year warranty expires and hardly anything got fixed. I'm terrified for my children's safety, this home, and my body shutting down.
One day, I was so terrified that I went to the division president's office, pleading/crying to help us out. He didn't even let me enter his office and kicked me out. He said, "I have no time for you!" He told me to leave and never come back. I drove back home crying and devastated. In that time, he had already emailed to my husband, stating that, the next time I come, I will be escorted out and have a restraining order... and a lot more. NEVER BUY A KB HOME.

My home was built in 2016 and I have had problems after problems, light fixtures not put in correctly, bad painting inside and out, problems with the tile throughout the downstairs floor. The sprinkler system wasn't working and that killed the grass because they took so long to come out and fix it and no cabinets over refrigerator it's a upgrade. No light covers on light bulbs in bathroom that's an upgrade.

I bought a KB home. A few years later I decided to paint the inside. I found that the electrical outlets were held in place by the face plate screw ONLY! The outlet was not anchored or attached to anything, just hanging loose. Also, my home is the same size as the other homes next to me and yet the other houses have 4 heat vents on the roof and my house only has one! I got an estimate from a roofer and it will cost me from $800 to $1,000 to have the other 3 vents put in. Another point, I had a lot of problems with the airflow from the air conditioner. I had the flow tested and turns out I had 5, yes that's right 5 feet of holes in my air conditioning VENTS. I was told that IF actual metal vents were used that it would NOT BE POSSIBLE to have that much holes in the vents. This is insane.

Regardless of what happened, we love our KB Home. Thank you. Maybe because it is our first time buying a house, our experience came out to be like this. We didn't always have questions when we meet up with the sale staff and when we do, he didn't always have the answer, there was many times he had to get back to us. When we met with the construction staff, we learned a lot about the house and regret a lot about certain upgrades because the sale staff didn't tell us about certain things. Seems like he was more about making a sale.
But the construction staff was great, (Scott) he told us about everything. Even things we didn't think of, so he was great. Another thing was the loan officer, she was hard to get to when we had questions. It was really hard for my husband because he didn't want me to sign anything before meeting in person, asked our questions, and clarify certain parts of the document. Because this is something very big for us and we wanted to get it right the first time and understand what we are signing for. So because reaching out to her was very hard, it made this process hard for us. We sign documents and wait until there's more things for us to sign. We just thought the loan process would have been a lot different where we are all on the same page on everything. As to everything in life, there are the ups and downs, and for KB Homes, it was an 8 overall satisfaction for us. Last of all, we want to thank KB Home, we love our new house.

My overall experience with KB so far has been excellent. Yes, there were some hiccups, but those have been resolved. I would have preferred if the home was delivered sooner than when it was. The end product is amazing. It is an absolutely beautiful home and we are truly pleased.

My overall experience with the Staff was excellent. Questions were always answered in a timely manner. The process was laid out in front of us from day one and everything went as planned. I chose magical/blessed because of the way this home has been for our family. I videotaped my kids' faces as they first walked through the door of our new home and every time I watch it, I cry happy tears. Pure joy and happiness is spread across them from ear to ear and you can just see it in their expressions they felt "they are home". Very happy I videotaped that moment for us! Thank you KB!

We purchased our home from KB Homes 9/15. The workmanship is very poor. We have had issues with our tile throughout the house. All the homes in the neighborhood come with rain gutters, except our home. KB claims due to elevation. Yet they have installed them for free on the same model we have. The response we received when we sent corporate a letter was that it was referred to regional KB Home. Everything about the manner in which this matter was treated was very poorly. Do not buy from KB, do your homework!! That are more reputable builders.

Our third party inspector was astonished by the quality of the construction and lack of issues that could be found with the home during his two walk-throughs. We have heard that other builders won't even allow third party inspectors onto their construction sites, so this speaks volumes about the quality that KB Home provides.

This was my second home I've had built with KB Home. I was excited to stay in the KB Home family, with the purchase of my new home. I always find their floor plans to be the first thing that draws me in. I have always loved the KB Home floor plans. Maybe, I'm partial, because I have owned a KB Home in the past. But there is just something that feels familiar with my new home. And when I think about my home, I always remember, it's a KB Home.

They're not pass me or other customers around like hot potatoes, that is awesome, anyway we are very happy with new home. We did our homework online prior to choosing a builder for our home. Then, we visited Falcon Landing while on our honeymoon and were impressed with the location, lots, and sales staff. From start to finish, KB Home delivered what they said they would. The sales staff and construction staff kept my husband and me up-to-date with weekly phone calls and emails, along with pictures, since we did not live locally while house was being built. Our real estate agent had not dealt with KB in the past. He was definitely impressed at each stage and with the finished product. We highly recommend KB Home.
