Great job by Dauenhauer Plumbing. At least with the second technician. The first one that was sent seemed lost and wasted a couple of days trying to diagnose the problem. He also cracked the linoleum tile around the toilet. I will request this company in the future when calling Homeserve.

Water Heater Emergency. I had surgery scheduled; my water heater died but I was required to use an antiseptic surgical scrub before surgery (and needed hot water for it to be effective) or surgery could be cancelled. Leo's Plumbing came out immediately and within 24 hours I had a new water heater (and hot water) and surgery wasn't cancelled. Highly recommended; very professional, efficient and courteous!

When you call a plumber to come to your house to do something for you, they can charge you anywhere from 200 upwards. By the time they're done with the work, you could be paying 250, 300, or more. If you don't have something like HomeServe and you have a drainage problem, unclogging the drain can cost you about 250. If you had a problem with sewage outside, it's even more than you can pay. They have to open up the ground and change the drain. It's about 2,000 or 3,000. And who has that money just lying down to pay for such an expense? Not all of us have money.
Two years ago, I did a claim with HomeServe and it was fine. I had difficulty with the plumber who came because he started doing the job then he was supposed to come back and finish up but he never came. I called him several times and he wouldn't come. I decided to just let go. On the whole, HomeServe is good. When I'm not having a great experience with a contractor, I will call HomeServe and let them know. This time, I called them to ask a few questions about the coverage and it's been okay.

Thank you for offering this insurance. Without it I wouldn't know what to do. The plumber you sent in November to set my toilet came back last week to clear the main water pipe and the stack after I experienced a raw sewage situation while doing laundry. He knew what he was doing and answered my questions both times before I could formulate any! Thank you, Todd!

1-star, only for the lack of a lower rating. I have been making payments for warranty service for the past 5-years. When I needed the service, I was denied coverage. Apparently my Water Heater is larger than what the Warranty covers. This contradicts what I was told 5-years ago, when I initially signed up for the service. They said, "Oh, you should have read the 8-pages of fine print that we sent to you". Nothing, but scam.

I purchase both interior plumbing and premium heat insurance, I can say so far so good. The company strives to meet my needs as a consumer of their products; each time I put a call across to their service line they attend to my needs with rapt attention and get me the service provider who gets back to me same day and schedule the appointment at the shortest time possible. I have enjoyed their cover mostly on plumbing servicing. The heating however is good but would have included a leaking radiator valves that I am currently experiencing. I strongly recommend them on the overall. This is because they have saved me a lot of money doing these on my own with cutthroat quotes from independent plumbers.

I called they said they are piggy backing the other exterior insurance. I said that I do not understand that. I cancelled immediately. HomeServe has a fairly easy process for the most part. I call them and their customer service is helpful. The only thing I have an issue with is the time it takes from once I call HomeServe to the time it takes to find a contractor to resolve the issue. The first time I called HomeServe was due to a hot water tank. I hadn't heard anything after about an hour or two. My uncle and I got a whole new hot water tank, got it installed, and had it going before I even heard a call back of who the contractor was going to be to come and fix my initial issue. For another claim I had, it took at least four hours before we got somebody here. The guy found out right away what the issue was and fixed it. The unit is fully functional again.

We've been fortunate with HomeServe. Cost-wise, it's minimal compared to what some of the things we've had to get fixed. I've used them on the furnace twice, on the air conditioner once and the sewer line that needed repair. We still owed some money on it but it took a big chunk of the bill out. Then they also came and did the restoration work on the yard and the little bit of work that was done in the yard and on the street. So, it has worked out. We just had the furnace people out last weekend. The igniter went on our furnace, and the guy had the part in his truck. Usually, all we do is call in and get the service provider to come out and do the work. So far, so good. The only glitch we had was back when we did have the sewer line work done and it took a little while to get the restoration people to come out because of scheduling.

We signed up for the water heater program and I got charged like $4 a month. You could use it for 30 days. About 35 days after I signed up, the pilot light on the water heater went out, and it was a connecting service. So, that's the positive thing. I didn't have to pay for the service call. When the contractor did call that day, their system was down. So, they had to do everything by hand. I told them I live in Murrieta, and they automatically thought it's Marietta, Georgia instead of Murrieta, California. They did tell me that they contacted somebody in California or in my area, and then they said they would come the same day between 3:00 and 7:00. The guy showed up at 7:15 because we were the last one on the route, and there was traffic. He fixed the thing right away. It didn’t take him very long. He was very good. He knew what he was doing.
When I did the claim, I got disconnected several times with the HomeServe number I called. The numbers that are on the paper are worthless. I got a recording, I put in my street address, and it said it didn't match. Then I tried the other number that’s on the back, and I got a recording, I got transferred, and then I got disconnected. I tried it again, and I got transferred and got disconnected. So, those phone calls never went through. So, then I went on my email and I found the number and I got through. The person I spoke with gave me another number to call so, now, I have two numbers just in case I have to call again.

A valve had to be replaced for the cold water and the second plumber got in there and did it. The plumber that came before did not do it. He just tightened it up. This latest plumber said that the first one just couldn't get in there to replace it. He was here for about an hour or so, trying to get inside the place 'cause it's a tight fit to get in there and to replace it.
I only wish that HomeServe would constantly send me the contract update each year. They take out the money and send me a piece of paper that says, "You've already paid for 2002." Usually, I have to call them to send me a newly updated contract. They said they could always send it to me by computer, and I don't use the computer all the time. I'd request them to send me a hard copy. Other than that, it's nice to have it 'cause I've got it also for electric and hot water heater and it gets expensive when having to replace a whole tank, especially with where I live. They've had a lot of problems with the water, where they put a lot of chlorine and fluoride that eats out the linings and it goes out faster.

We found water in our basement and determined it overflowed from the sink. I tried plunging and my little snake which did not work. I next called Homeserve. They contacted an area plumber who could come the next day which was good. He was a very nice young man and snaked the drain twice however two days later the same thing happened. This time on a Friday night. I called Homeserve Saturday. First thing they promised emergency service. No one called and no one came. I called later in the day and the dispatcher referred me to the plumbing company who only had an answering service. The lady said someone from their company would call. They offer 24/7 service. No one called no one came.
Repeated everything Sunday. Called morning, afternoon and evening. Each time promised a call back never got a callback. Finally on Monday a plumber was dispatched. He said we probably needed a camera but his company did not have one available so we needed to contact Homeserve again and get another plumber. New plumber came. Said our pipes were too small for his camera (1-1/2 drain pipe pretty standard in most homes). Said we might need a different plumber.

Speedy service., but didn't do anything more than I had done already. Called for service on furnace, it was making noises. I had greased and oiled bushing and checked belt tension changed air filter before he came. He basically did the same, messed with control valve loosening caps on ports and then left, said he was done. Didn't clean the burners or check what was vibrating and making the noise. After he left noticed the house was cold. checked my thermostat was 68 degrees, had it set to kick in furnace at 72 degrees. Went to furnace and noticed no pilot light burning. I light the pilot light furnace kicked on.
For several days I would have to liight the pilot light. Noticed pilot thermo coupler had fresh vice grip marks on it. I cleaned corrosion on it and valve, unhooked thermo coupler from control valve and burped gas through valve to flush debris out. Pilot light works good now but furnace still vibrating and burners not burning correctly. This service isn't worth the monthly cost they charge. I have been paying for the last 25 years. Could have bought a new furnace with fee charged.

I've had a water leak for a week and I'm wasting about 1,000 gallons a day. The contractor that HomeServe sent told me that they didn't see any water leak outside. Yet, they weren't able to check inside because at that time, I was quarantining, so they took it upon themselves to put on my diagnostics that the leak was inside, which they just assumed. They said, “The only way we could be for sure is if you get a water shutoff valve installed in your house. And we could do that for you for $350 because the insurance doesn't cover it.” I told them no. I'm going to wait. I had to get my home warranty to come out because they said it was inside. They came out and they couldn't figure it out either. I ended up getting a water shutoff valve and it was outside. If their contractor would have done a better job at figuring that out, we would have been somewhere last week.
Now I’m here stuck and we have a freeze tomorrow. I don't know what I'm going to do because I still have the leak and I’m probably at 13,000 gallons already. I called yesterday and the customer service rep said that they had already gone and made a diagnosis. Now it's going to have to be approved to get somebody else out there. I told him that I have a water leak. I'm the customer and I pay monthly. If I’m asking for a service call, there should be somebody coming out. This morning I called back because the rep never called me back and the customer service agent I got was excellent. But I would have thought that I would have had some response by 10:00, and now I’m stuck without a plumber. I would doubt they will come tomorrow because of the freeze. My situation is still not been taken care of. I also don't want the same people going again.

Home Serve's phone system needs improvement. When you call, multiple people ask you the same questions. They ask your information and what you're calling for. They transfer you to another person that does the same, and then transfer you. Last month, I submitted a claim and in the beginning, there was difficulty to get an appointment or to talk to somebody. When they sent the person, they gave me a window time, between 8:00 and 4:00. But I needed to work and I needed to know at least one hour earlier when they were coming. I hope they can send a notification letting us know when the person is on the way. Because of that, I lost the appointment as there was a lack of communication.
I called to get another appointment. They said, “Okay. We'll send an email. We will call you in 24 hours.” 24 hours passed but they never called me. When I called back, they said exactly the same thing. I had to call about six times. Finally, I talked to the supervisor, because I felt like that was not going anywhere. I just want to make sure everything is covered that wouldn't normally be covered under homeowner's insurance. The lady I spoke with at HomeServe was very nice. She told me that certain things aren't covered by the homeowner's insurance so their warranty is good to have. I wasn't too happy with the first call that I reached out to them on. I was put on hold for the longest time. Then, when I spoke the second time, the rep goes, "Well drips aren't covered." Somebody was supposed to come and the contractor never even bothered contacting me.
When I called HomeServe, I said the person didn't even bother contacting me or coming by and three weeks had passed. The weekend was coming up. And they said, “Well, there's nobody that can contact you. You have to wait till Monday.” And I said, “What do you mean Monday? What if I had a serious issue or my pipe busted? You're telling me I have to wait till Monday?” They apologized and called someone else to look at the issue.
The last contractor who came was KGH and I was showing them drips happening in the bathtub and the kitchen. The bathtub was clogging up a little bit. The plumber removed the bottom part with a drain and said, “There's some hair here. You have to make sure you take the hair out and stuff like that. And this is how you can clean the hair out. But it seems like the water is going down fine.” So, that was more the issue because the water was going down slowly. But, I mentioned the drippy pipes and he said, “Oh we don't cover that kind of stuff and you have to change the faucet. You can buy a new faucet system to have put in.” That didn't help much. I wasn't too crazy about that answer because I paid for someone to fix the drip that was happening in the bottom of the pipe and he looked and he goes, “I don't think this is the issue. I think it's more like the pipe that's inside the wall.”
I was like, “This other guy didn't do what you did and I had to pay this guy to stop the dripping, and it's still dripping a little bit. And I think there's something wrong with the pipe on the inside.” That last company that came didn't go through the whole thing other than to say, “No, it's fine. It doesn't look like there's an issue here.”
Also, I just bought my home in April and the heat is not really coming out. It's to the highest and it's still showing 70 degrees. There might have been something wrong because I kept hearing water running through the pipes, which I never heard before when I used my heat. Someone else came and he's like, “Oh, no. It's hot in here.” That was what the other guy told me. And I said, “But do you understand what I'm saying? Can you look to make sure like the heat is coming out correctly?” And he said, “This is a different contractor.” Because there were two different issues with the water dripping and the thing with the heat, Home Serve said that's another appointment. I didn't feel like the guy with the heat did enough. I could have done it myself, taken a walk downstairs and said, “Hey, everything looks fine. I don't hear any funny noises.” Why am I paying for a service when no one's really doing anything other than taking a look on the outside?
I'm not 100% happy and I'm thinking of canceling. When I call up, no one even calls to follow up to say, “Hey, okay. Did they come? Was everything fine? Were you satisfied?“ Nothing. I had to reach out to them and then call them. I'm going to look for another warranty company and I'm not going to stick with HomeServe. I don't want to have to pay out-of-pocket if I have a warranty for this kind of stuff.

They said they would call me before they came and they did promptly at 7:30 in the morning to tell me they'd be here between 10:00 and 11:00. They were here at 10:45.
I opened the main drain in the front yard for the tech and showed him where it was. They took the cover off, pressure cleaned it, and then ran the camera down. They said it's full of roots so they took the cutter and cut them all out. Then they flushed the drain again. Everything was flushing and going smoothly. I flushed the toilet and they watched it go down. Everything was fine and I haven't had a problem since. We like HomeServe. It's not a problem for me to get ahold of them. At first they thought it might be a waste line issue but it wasn't. There was a clog in the pipe that he was able to dislodge. So, I didn't have to wait. If there was a sewage issue where they had to dig up the pipes, that would be thousands of dollars that I do not have. The warranty is peace of mind. It's an affordable monthly payment. I'm not gonna be out $1,000.

A technician came out to replace a receptacle that had shorted out. He was in and out. It's easy to submit claims to HomeServe, and I like that there's no deductible. They have to get something like that in this area.

The guy who recently came here through HomeServe was kind of rude. The repair was for the plumbing. It was an emergency because the toilet was clogged and there was poop in there. He used a snake to clear it up. He was able to clear it. The snake had water in it and it was dirty. So, I told him I got a plastic garbage bag and he could put the snake on it so it would not be dripping on my carpet. I don't want poop and water to drip on my carpet. Even if he said he already drained it, it's not like he let it dry for a long time. He said, "No, I already drained it." I said, "No, if you can just put it in." He said he didn't want to. I put the plastic on the very end of the snake. He was holding the snake, but since it was long, I was able to put it in and I said, "Okay. You can just give me the snake and I'll take it down." He said, "Don't touch it. Don't touch it." He got a girl with him, too, and he said, "Let's get out of here." He was pissed.
So far, every time I get a service with HomeServe, I get headaches. Sometimes, the service people are gonna come in and if it's wet out there, I say, "Can you put something, cover on your shoes, like a shoe cover?" They said, "Oh, I don't have a shoe cover." When I told them to just remove their shoes, all of a sudden, "Oh, yeah. Let me check. Maybe I got a shoe cover." If you don't ask them, they're just gonna walk in. They don't care because it's not their house.
There was a claim before where the plumber that came here was telling me I was having a water problem and he said, "You don't have any water because you have a well problem. Your well is dried out." He was recommending and advising me to call a well company. When I called the well company, they said, "Oh, your well is dry, we're gonna fix it. We need $13,000." I called four other contractors that came here after him and they said, "It's not dried out, you just need to replace this the tank in your crawl space." I went bought a tank and I hired another plumber to replace it, and it was fixed for less than $200.

I had a problem the latest time that I did a claim to HomeServe. It took four people before the problem got fixed. The sink was clogged, so they sent the guy out here. He started running the snake. He said, “I can’t run the snake. You need a jetter.” So, a piece was broken too. The second person came out and said, “I can’t jet it because he broke a piece. And now I have to order a piece.” I was like, “Well, okay.” The next day, he kept saying, “The piece wasn’t in. The piece wasn’t in.” Then, the third guy came out.
He said he was gonna cut my cabinet. I was like, “You’re gonna cut my wall? How big is it?” “Oh, it’s gonna be a small cut.” He proceeded to cut the wall all the way down. He stood there and said, “I’ve never seen a problem like this before.” Then he was like, “I can’t fix it.” And I said, “Why?” When he opened up the wall, he said, “Your pipe is leaning, and so I can't change the whole new pipe.” I said, “Well, that's fine. Would you just snake it?” He was like, “No. Can’t snake it either.” I said, “Would you jet it?” “Nope. Can’t do that either.” I said, “So, you’re gonna just leave it like this and put the piece on?” He said, “Yeah. ‘Cause you got plumbing damaged.” He called the home structure damaged. I said, “Let me tell you something. There is four pieces up there, and one of them is damaged, one 2 x 4. So, don't tell me that.” He was like, “I can’t do it.” And he left.
So, I called HomeServe and I said, “Don't send them back at my house ever again.” They sent the fourth guy out. His name was Richard. I love him to death. He came and just looked at it. He snaked the 25 feet out through my kitchen and the bathroom. It was fixed. Somebody called me from HomeServe and checked and made sure the fourth guy did it right. They made sure everything was right. So, I would recommend HomeServe because they did everything to fix the issue.

Before I post a rating, I want to see how my issue is resolved. Let me give you a timeline. 1) Back in March of 2021 I was offered a deal, Complete Plumbing Plan, which I signed up for. 2) On 11/10/2021 or there about of this year I noticed that our water heater was leaking water. 3) I called your Service Dept and spoke to one of your agents who said they would send a person out which was Total Plumbing. I included a copy of the contract I had signed up for, see attached Doc Home Serve Coverage.
4) The Service person came out and said the unit could not be repaired but would need to be replaced but they could not do it for a week. 5) I contacted the same person at Home Serve and told them what Total Plumbing said and asked if I could use our plumber to do the work immediately. She said that would be alright and I should submit the bill to Home Serve. I did that and included pictures of the before and after with the bill for the job. 6) I then received 2 copies of contracts for Water Heater and Plumbing which were NOT what I had contracted with you, copies included. 7) At this point I was told that NO payment would be made to resolve the problem with the Water Heater. 8) I sent a copy of the original contract that I signed up for and was told that it was not valid and no payment would be made.
9) Water Heater Repair And Replacement. What’s Covered: We will arrange and pay for the repair or replacement due to normal wear and tear of Yourelectric, natural gas, or propane water heater (“Water Heater”) for which You have sole responsibility, that supports Your Residence. You must call HomeServe to arrange for service in order for repairs to be covered. See “How to Call for Repairs” Which is what I did. 11) I then contacted your representative again to try to resolve these issues but to no effect. Before I move forward, I would like to give you an opportunity to resolve this issue. PS I am not able to upload the PDI's that I referred to so please let me know how to do this.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. This company is so heartless and inhuman, they have absolutely no compassion. My boiler stopped working in 25 degree weather, I called HomeServe to have someone come fix it on the same day, they wouldn't give me an appointment until the following day, after making a fuss they agreed to send someone to fix it on the same day. I was 15 mins away from home when they called and the technician refused to wait. After calling the company again the representative was very cold hearted and dismissive. The supervisor took 4 hours to call back, and with a very nonchalant "I don't care" attitude basically said there was nothing she could do.
I am very disappointed at how inhumane these people are to leave someone in a freezing house at 25 degrees outside and refusing to wait 15 minutes when I was suppose to get a call that they were on the way. Homeserve claims to have "emergency" repair service which is a lie! All they care about is getting your money and not providing the service on their website. He couldn't tell me what the problem was, because, all of a sudden, it started working for him. After that, he snaked the toilet. He got the job done. I would recommend them for anybody. I have always had a home warranty on my home and I haven't been happy with the other two. Now, I find it quite refreshing to actually have a company that people are willing to work for. The two contractors that I talked with appreciated working for HomeServe.
I had one they sent out that was actually a scam. My shower wasn't draining and he tried to convince me that he had to break up all the cement flooring and put new pipes in and charge me above what the home warranty would charge. He had my card processed into his little laptop as if he was paying the home warranty and never paid them. He left his ladder and said he was coming back to do the work but he never did. But I appreciate the fact that I don't have to pay a copay. I pay a monthly fee. In the six years, I've only had to use the home warranty four times, so I pay a lot every month and don't use it. To have to pay a service fee and then take the chance of getting ripped off by one of their contractors makes it rough.

A small tree fell on the power line coming into my house. AEP initially removed the tree to keep the wire out of danger. I called Home Serve because there was some damage to the weather head on my house. The Home Serve attendant on the phone was strange to talk to. She was silent for long periods of time making me wonder if she was still on the line. I would get a question from her, answer her, and had no acknowledgement that she had actually heard me. However, after 17 minutes on the phone with her, my appointment with the technician was completed.
Ben, the technician, arrived on time on November 18th and inspected the damage. He said he did not have the proper weather head with him on the truck because he was not aware that that was going to be the problem. (It sounded like a miscommunication of sorts because I had told the operator on the phone what the problem was). He also asked me to remove the remaining branches from the wire before he returned.
He said he would reschedule the repair for the following week. It turns out, they contacted me that night to schedule between 3pm and 5pm the following day. I said okay, and scrambled that morning to remove the branches from the wire that Ben had requested. Ben called and asked to arrive earlier than scheduled (around 2pm), and I said I was ready.
He arrived, turned off the electricity to my house for about 40 minutes while he made his repairs, fixed the weather head and the guiline on the roof, and was done. He did high quality, professional work and was courteous and pleasant. He did say that I had to put new "Black Jack" on the guiline and on the weather head flange going into the roof. I would have thought that that was part of the repair. However, still I am satisfied with the work he did.

This is why I have complete peace of mind with HomeServe, that if something happens, my kids aren't going to be cold, we're gonna have heat and we're gonna have water. I've never had an issue. I call, the same day, they’re here. I've never gotten anything where they couldn't come for a day. I've had an issue where my heater wasn't working and they were here right away to get it started.
But I was not really happy with my recent claim experience. I was seconds away from canceling everything with Homeserve because of what they did to me. I have a sewer system and I had an issue over the weekend. They told me that I was covered. They sent a plumber to my house and he said, “You don't have an issue inside, you have an issue outside. You’re not covered.” I said that was impossible. I would never not take additional coverage for the outside of my house. I have it for everything else. He said, “They're telling me that you're not covered.”
I called HomeServe back. I said it was impossible. The rep said, “No, you opted out of it.” I said, “No, I would never opt out of anything. Just like the phone calls are recorded, every time you guys call me, you tell me the phone call is recorded. Well then pull up the recording of when I took out the policy because I'm telling you that I'm covered.” She said, “No ma'am. We can't do that. You're not covered.” So I had to pay the plumber $350. But then he returned to my house 20 minutes later to tell me that he got a phone call from HomeServe that we actually were covered. They had to refund us the money. Everything is working fine now.

This review/complaint relates to a boiler installation that was carried out by HomeServe. Part of the process that HomeServe quite rightly goes through is to conduct a video survey with their heating surveyor. Having carried this out with the heating surveyor it was established that the boiler that we had was relatively small and the new boiler that was being recommended was much larger and would potentially extend beyond the area of the cupboard that currently contained a boiler. We were encouraged to upgrade to a more expensive boiler that was about 100 mm smaller in height than the one that was being proposed and therefore would fit within the confines of the cupboard and would not extend beyond the top or the bottom of the cupboard.
The survey also explored the possibility of the flue being raised to accommodate the taller boiler. The surveyor established it was very unlikely that there would be a lintel in the way of the new flue and therefore his only fear is that a box area in the corner of the room which would have to be removed may contain a waste pipe. When I removed the boxed area I confirmed there was no waste pipe and we had already established the lintel did not extend into the area where the flue would be situated.
When the engineer arrived at the property we had a discussion regarding the heating surveyor's findings and that there would be nothing in the way of a new flue position and therefore it could be installed higher and therefore within the confines of the cupboard. The engineer said something along the lines of, "Oh I don't mean to be rude but these surveyors are not in the real world and they don't really know what they are talking about." This may have not been exactly word for word but this is what he was implying. So basically he stated there was a lintel in the way of where the new flue would be located. He did not carry out any tests or anything to confirm this he just looked into the cavity and stated, no we can't put it there as there is a lintel and therefore I had to except what the heating engineer was saying. It turns out this was a lie, he deliberately lied to us so that he did not have to drill a new hole for the flue.
The engineer installed the boiler and stated that he would have to remove some of the tiled area below the boiler in order to accommodate it. On completion of the installation I was quite surprised and shocked at the mess the engineer had made, the boiler sits about six inches below the bottom of the cupboard and he has made a mess of the tiled areas. He said I needed to sign the forms which I did because at that stage I did not know that he had mislead us into believing this was our only option. I have now had two independent engineers look at the installation and I have list of issues that have been pointed out to me about the work that has been carried out.
Hello Mr. Allan. We will look into this and try to rectify the situation. A team member will email you to discuss this soon.

Everything has been good with HomeServe, with the exception of my last call. It was horrible. I had an emergency in the house. It took three days for them to attend the emergency. I have outside water coming through my electrical box in the house. They made arrangements and they sent an electrician. When he came, he said, “Oh no. That job is not for me. That's a plumber’s job.” I had to call back and say, “You guys sent an electrician, but the electrician said that has nothing to do with him. It’s a plumber.” It took two days for the plumber to come to the house. When the plumber came, he was there for 10 minutes and glued something that he thought was the problem and left. Now, I’m gonna have to hire a plumber myself to come to fix that for me because I have the same problem. It wasn't even fixed.
I have HomeServe for over a year now. But this was the first time that I really needed them for something major. I did it for a switch at one point and they were really good. They sent it and fixed it. It was awesome. But now that I really need it for something major, they really let me down. But every time I needed them, they were there. I’m just hoping that when I call them, they can take care of the situation for me.

A couple of weeks ago, that outside drain backed up again. I called the HomeServe number and told them about the problem. They knew who I am ‘cause I call two or three times a year. Usually, Mayes Plumbing comes out that same day and the plumber came out around 2:00 in the afternoon. He does a good job. It doesn’t take him long. He cleans it all out, doesn't leave a mess and takes all equipment with him. HomeServe took care of my problem and it didn’t cost me anything.

Almost a month on I am still battling with Homeserve, we have lodged a complaint, to which we have had no response. They have had their money and now they are reluctant to finish the job!!!!

HomeServe offered $4.99 a month. I had plumbing with them then I took electrical. HomeServe only covers inside and outside plumbing and inside and outside electrical and sewer. But the warranty has saved me a lot of money over the years when I needed some service. I have told my friends about the warranty and I have been an advocate. I'm fine with their electrical service. They've sent reputable people out. I recently had an electrical claim and that was really good. A man called me and told me what day he would be coming in. He called me half an hour before he got here and he took care of the problem. He was in and out in 15 minutes.
But I have never been very excited about the plumbing people that HomeServe has sent out here. They didn't seem to really know what they were doing. I only get four times a year to call a plumber. The same company came out once before and it was an issue with the kitchen sink backing up. The guy that was here was the biggest show-off. He had a trainee with him and he was using all kinds of technical jargon, which I understood. He then said, "I can't get the sink to do this right now. So, there's nothing I can do." I was really ticked because I couldn't use the garbage disposal. I finally got underneath and took everything out from underneath the kitchen sink. I got a big wrench, a towel, and a bucket. I undid the pipe and cleaned it out. I didn't need the plumber to come and do that anymore. I know how to do that if the sink backs up.
I had another plumbing claim that I was unhappy with. I have a leak in the bathtub and the man that came out turned on the bathtub water waiting for the water to show outside the tub. That takes about 10 minutes and I told him this. He sat there texting somebody for several minutes then he told me he didn't have a scope to look down the tub to see if there was a leak. Those scopes are expensive and they are not given one. When I call for a plumber, I expect them to have equipment available to check the problem. After spending several minutes waiting, he said there was no leak. But as soon as he left, I could see water starting to appear on the grout from the tile.
Almost a year ago, my water heater went out and HomeServe sent Presidio Plumbing and it was a top-notch guy that replaced my water heater. But that guy aside, I don't want to see Presidio show up in my driveway again. The thing with HomeServe, however, is when you call for a plumber, you don't know what company is available that's going to pick up the service call.
I'm very disappointed with HomeServe's service as far as plumbing goes and I have told my friends about that. Unless it's something such as a clogged sink, I'm not going to call for a plumber. And if I need a plumber next time, I will call someone locally myself. HomeServe has three companies that work with them and they are at the bottom of the ladder as far as ratings in the city. The guys like Cummings and Silverado that are the high echelon plumbing companies don't deal with places like HomeServe.

At another time, I had a hole in my front lawn and called the techs out. They dug out the sod that was there and found an empty dry hole. There wasn't anything leaking or anything they could do, so they put it all back together for me.

We had a leak that we noticed in the garage coming down from the first floor area and we really didn't know where it was coming from. So, we called HomeServe and they got ahold of a plumber. He came the next day and he located the leak pretty rapidly. He opened up the garage ceiling area, where the leak was coming from, found where the leak was coming from, and repaired it. He had to go into our bathroom, into our whirlpool tub, and our Jacuzzi tub. And it was in the actual turn and shutoff valve that was leaking. So he replaced that, we cleaned up the mess, and away he went. Everything's working fine now and we have no more leak.
For this claim, HomeServe was on the ball. They texted me all the time what was going on and the plumber texted me where he was, what he could do, and when he could come. I would call it constant communication between HomeServe and the plumber. They did what they had to do and that was what I was paying for. Fortunately, I didn't have any other problems anywhere else. But if they're going to take care of any problems I have the way they took care of the last problem, I would highly recommend them.
