Hi my name is Sam. I live in Damascus Oregon. I have had Home Serve for many years. So I had a leak back in 2016. They came and fixed it. I’ve been paying insurance for many years. So in 2022 it leaked from the same exact place again and I tried to do a claim. We had Apollo plumbing come out and give us a bid and they told us that the waterline would need to be replaced. Once home serve heard about that they were coming up with all sorts of excuses not to pay. They will pay for a small things but when it comes to a major repair they will not pay. They were trying to tell me that my waterline is in my neighbor's property but that line is part of my easement.

Be very careful with this company. I’m going to be in the process of filing a lawsuit against this company. Meghan ** in upper management was disrespectful and did not want to pick up my calls and to mention again in 2016 they fixed a water leak in the same exact spot that I’m trying to get it fixed now and they’re telling me that it was not covered under my insurance but they gladly took money all these years so be very careful with this company. They try to come on here and answer questions and make themselves look good but they are a big scam. Be very, very careful I paid thousands of dollars into this insurance and now when it comes to pay they will not pay. Remember they will only pay very small insurance claims. Again be very very careful

I found out the hard way that there is more to my service contract that isn't covered than is covered. 1st off you don't give information about what not do or who to contact in case of a sewer emergency, then you use contractors that aren't readily recognizable in the plumbing community. Ready to terminate my contract with your company.

I called on Monday morning with a no cooling situation, and was placed on the schedule for Wednesday for the evening block. I immediately received confirmation of my appointment. On Wednesday morning, I received a text and email canceling my appointment and no additional follow up to indicate a new provider would be servicing my home. As an employee, I could see it was supposed to be sent to a new HVAC provider. If I was a regular customer, this would be extremely poor service! At 7:50 pm, I called to confirm I was still receiving service and it was apparently not dispatched to the new provider. I was told by Stanley that I would receive a call the next day. Fingers crossed, as we are heading into a holiday week end!

The next day, I did receive a call that I would receive service. However, I was not told when or by whom. Again, I was able to look in the system and could see that the provider from Kensington, PA was coming to service my home in West Chester on Saturday. No one asked if Saturday would work for us, and again it’s the holiday week end! Here I go making another phone call, and explain the situation to the very nice representative. She was the only one who communicated and understood. She had someone from Springfield, PA out to her home and fixed the problem by the end of that business day.

Our AC in PA was fixed. We were able to get in the car afterwards and head to our vacation home at the Jersey shore to enjoy the Memorial Day weekend. The same home that we had discussed purchasing a HomeServe HVAC contract for, but after last week's experience, I have second thoughts to be honest. I also out sourced my cleaning to a reputable local HVAC company and paid double the price because I didn’t want to be rescheduled and annoyed like I was with the no cooling situation. I can only hope my heat never goes out or maybe we should consider a contract with a local and reliable HVAC company! My first experience was not top notch.

I told HomeServe that the toilets were not flushing all the way and my bathroom sink was backed up. When the plumber came here, he told me, “I understand your house is backed up.” I told him no and he said, “That’s what's on the report.” Other than that, it was okay. He found out that the thing inside the tanks wasn’t set to let the water in. Once he went into the tanks and did whatever he did, the water flushed. My sink had a smell in the bathroom and he took the pipe loose and cleaned the sink to dry them out.

His & Hers Plumbing Company was hired through my warranty service company, HomeServe. His And Hers employees indicated that my hot water circulation pump was not working. They indicated that per my contract, they would provide replacement and installation with no charge. After about an hour, I received a call indicating that the replacement pump was unavailable.

I checked on Amazon and found that the part was readily available. I called the company and spoke with a partner-owner named Larry. He indicated they would provide an alternative replacement pump, but it would cost me $226 to install this pump since it was not directly compatible with mine. I indicated that I wanted exact replacements for my pump, but Larry was resistant to do that. I even offered to pay for the installation if they would send the identical part. Again, he refused. When I pressed him about his refusal to send an identical pump, he confessed that he was on a budget and the difference in costs was $19. The pump cost me $494.88.

I contacted the HomeServe office and the company that sent these other people. They denied my request for reimbursement on the basis that I used my plumber instead of their vendor, which is ludicrous because the reason I used my plumber was that their vendor was not adequate. I'm less than pleased. What I wound up paying was exactly what I would have paid if I had not had the HomeServe contract I paid my premium for all this time, and I wound up paying like I didn't have it.

They said the coverage would cover my appliances and waterline, and it turned out to be a good deal because our hot water heater went out. In contrast to what happened here, they replaced it without question. It would have cost me $1,600 to $1,800 for a new water heater. They put it in and installed it, and it was no problem. But this company that they've had as a vendor is probably the cheapest company that was why they went with them. When I went online and checked the feedback, my experience was not at all unusual. Person after person complained about of all kinds of shenanigans that they experienced.

Twice, somebody from HomeServe called, but I wasn't able to get to the phone. He and I had been trading phone calls. After the complaint was denied, I called back and spoke with the person in the complaint department and indicated that the idea that being denied because I didn't go with their vendor was ludicrous if they read my complaint. I told them that my alternative was to follow through with the Better Business Bureau and North Carolina’s Consumer Protection Agency.

The line runs under our garage, so it cannot be dug up if it collapses. The only option is preventative lining. HomeServe did not send a camera, nor will they until the line collapses. By then, it's too late.

Before I signed up for Home Serve I asked some friends what they think about signing up for such a service. Most of them told me that it's not worth it because you get charged monthly and when you have a problem and need to use the service they give you the runaround. I signed up anyways and couldn't be happier. When I had a sewer backup recently I called Home Serve and they said they'll have a sewer company reach out to me shortly. Within 10 I had an appointment set and a few hours later the tech came and fixed the issue (which was a big one - would've cost me a couple of thousand dollars to fix myself). So as I said, I couldn't be happier that I signed up and I'm a happy customer.

I called HomeServe and K Jett Servicing came out. They thought it was a valve and they replaced that. It turned out that it was the water heater so they came out and replaced it for me. I have a very expensive water heater so I had to pay about $1,400 out of pocket. But at least they paid part of it. I also love the guys they always send out. K Jett Servicing has come out a few times to either unclog or fix my water heater. They’ve been awesome.

I came out in the summertime and I checked the water outside and I heard the water flowing. The steel broke off and there was flood everywhere. The plumber that same said it was due to it getting old. But HomeServe kept saying that they could not pay for it because it was a busted pipe even when it wasn't. The plumber talked to the lady over the phone and he was trying to describe to her that over time, the pipe would get old. He cut the water on and it just broke off. It was the inside-outside plumbing. The lady still said they would not pay for it. She wanted to talk to me and I was so mad, I hung up on her. I was upset with them for what just happened. I might as well get rid of this service as I'm paying them for nothing.

When my furnace went out, HomeServe said the heating and cooling don't go together. Heating was one price and cooling was another. I ended up buying my own furnace. HomeServe asked if I still wanted to get heating. I said the furnace I got has a warranty on it. The rep kept on talking and put it on there anyway. I called this other lady again to take the heating right back out the same day. I said, “She’s pushing me to get it on. I can't do it.” I still have cooling. On the whole, HomeServe was helpful one time when a man came to fix my dishwasher. But any time I had a problem, they didn't pay for it. Don't deal with HomeServe.

I had a water leak and it turned out there was a leak in the pipe from the water main to the house. It's partially underneath my driveway. I called HomeServe and they said they had somebody out there. It took two or three days for them to get out here. They probably only have a few guys in the big area. That aside, that was acceptable. I know they just can't come out here at the last minute although I would have liked that. Because there was a delay in the time it took the techs to get here, I got to the point that I had to turn the water main off and on to get water to the house because it was leaking really profusely. Once they figured out what to do and started work, they got it done and that was great. The only problem was they had to cut a portion of my driveway. They had to tear the whole driveway down and they made a patchwork instead of making it match the other side.

Six months later, it had turned orange. It was great for Halloween but it wasn't very good for the looks of my driveway. I contacted HomeServe again and it was taking a little bit longer. They sent me the report and I sent a photograph. We went back and forth like that for a while. I thought they would just send the same people that came out that did the job to repair what they had done. But HomeServe hires the stuff out. There were a lot of things having to do with getting the right contractor. The problem I had was nobody wants to do the work. All the contractors in my area in Mission Viejo seemed to be really busy. They were all giving me really high quotes.

I thought HomeServe was going to take care of getting a contractor out here. It turned out I had to go find my own contractor and get it done. That was a negative because I figured they’re the one that's insured, they’re the one that hired the guy, they’re the one that should either have him come out and do it right or something. I finally found a guy that was working up the street and asked him if he’s a registered contractor and had a license. He did. He said, "I've got everything here I need. It's when I'm finished and you're happy with the job, then you'll pay me.” He was type of guy I wanted to do business with. These service people had a different way of doing things and they did a wonderful job.

I paid for the contractor to do the job after he left. He came back three days later to make sure the concrete had hardened and I gave him a check. I told HomeServe about it. It took about three days to get back to me. A check came last night for the reimbursement. On the whole, I would give HomeServe a C on acknowledging the work and getting somebody out here to do it. It wasn't as timely as I wanted and that would be their only negative. The people were friendly and forthright. In the end, I was persistent and everything got done and it looks really good so I'm happy now.

I have recommended HomeServe to other people, saying that our houses are reaching that 50-year age limit and there are all these pipes there that are copper and getting old. I had bids to fix that upwards of $2,000. With HomeServe, it would only cost a small amount of money. It's $100 a year. HomeServe more than pays for itself if you kept it for 10 years and didn't use it. It's well worth having.

In South Carolina, a plumber has to be licensed with the LLR. Their plumber came out days after I called and did not fix the issue properly. This resulted in my sink cabinet rotting out (the whole thing needed replaced) and two dishwashers had to be replaced due to negligence. I asked for paperwork, the name of the plumber and warranty of service. None of this occurred and it escalated to Dominion turning off my power over a simple dispute. The person was not licensed - do NOT utilize this service. The local, licensed plumber I used made a statement that these "warranty services" are notorious for not doing what they promise and causing issues. I found out too late. I kept on telling the service guy they sent, "Look it's not working," and he kept saying, "No, no, everything is fine").

As soon as the service guy leaves they close the claim and in order to get someone else to come and fix it you will have to call back to open another claim and pay yet another $75. They are a scam. They do not care about their customer as soon as you pay your premium. Out of the three service calls I did with them, they refused to do 2 of them including fixing my AC unit, and my hose pit. They would say they would give you a call back but they never do. If you want to waste your money and time go with them. If I could give them zero stars I would.

HomeServe’s services have been great. It's real easy to use. The guys that come out have been really helpful. HomeServe has been working out well. I'm glad I got it. Someone recently came out for the plumbing thing. I was notified by my water service provider that we had a leak. I didn't really know how to isolate it. So, I got in touch with HomeServe so they could come out and figure out where the leak was at. I was told that they didn't go inside to check, but they would check outside and let me know if they would see anything. When the tech looked at the meter, it wasn't continuously running. So, it didn't really show that it had a leak, but it's kind of an intermittent thing. He said, if that’s the case, it’s most likely something with the toilet leaking periodically. He explained how to check to see if my toilet flaps, and if they’re allowing water to seep through occasionally.

I watched the video on how to replace them. It does look like we do have leaks in our toilet. Now, I just had to figure out what kind of flaps I need to buy, and then try to replace them myself. The tech was pretty helpful. It would have been nice if he could have isolated it himself, but he explained how to put dye in it and then check it later, to see if the water with the dye flowed into the toilet bowl. I understand he can’t spend all day waiting for each toilet. So, it worked out. I was fine with how he explained it, and the solution for it, too. I was okay with doing that myself. Overall, HomeServe is great. The website is great. It shows all the different services they provide. I’m more of a visual person. So, it would be good if there was like a video.

Because I thought it would be necessary for me to have them. Now, HomeServe doesn't offer appliance coverage in certain areas. So that was a thumbs down for me and that was one of the reasons why I had recently canceled my hot water heater and my interior electrical.

I only submitted two claims so far. The first claim was fine. In the second one that I submitted, the only thing I didn't like was the limit of supplies that the technician had on his truck to give me the service that I really wanted. He was exchanging a certain type of plate. He couldn't really upgrade to a different one because he didn't have that particular one in his supplies on his truck. But the quality of the work of the contractors was okay.

No issues with how the immediate issue of unclogging the sewage outlet is taken care of each time. The service people have been great. HomeServe is however refuses to take care of the problem. That of the roots infesting the sewage pipe. Forcing my family to live through and clean up another raw sewage back up inside my home. It will happen again at some point, 3 months, 6 months? We won’t know until we hear it or more likely smell it. Can’t start the washing machine or dishwasher before leaving because you never know what you might come home to.

Over the years HomeServe has provided no peace of mind. We have had at least 4 service calls, each time we are told that the pipe needs further attention that it is packed full of roots. Unfortunately the nameless unaccountable folks at HomeServe knowingly choose not to resolve this recurring issue. Choosing instead to make us endure raw sewage backing up again and again. At this point I am extremely unsatisfied and would not recommend HomeServe to anyone.

I started with HomeServe many years ago. I dropped a couple of their electrical stuff because some of that seemed as though it wasn't working for me. But I kept the previous one for the outdoors and the inside. But when I needed it, it was not working for me. We had an issue with a sewage line on a neighbor. All County Mechanical Plumbing said they’d do the line, but when the guy came out, he said, "Not that." I called them and they said, “We only do the line.” I have three things - the plumbing on the inside out, exterior and interior. I have the sewage septic line plus. They didn’t tell me what the plus was, but they said they don’t do the sewage. So, I wonder why sewage is on there.

They also said I haven't been pumped so I need to be pumped out. I had it pumped out and I paid for it myself. Then I asked them again, “Would you just check this and fix it, and I will have to pay you?” But I haven’t really heard from them again. They need to tell HomeServe what needs to be fixed, so HomeServe can see whether I’m covered or not. Because if it’s not covered and I need to get this done, I will still let them do it.

If there are any issues, we just call them and their customer support people are very good. They understand the issues and then they assign the people very promptly. So it's very good. Sometimes some contractors are painful, but sometimes some contractors are very upfront and they tell everything. Most of the contractors do the work and then complete the work fine. But HomeServe gives a second opinion and tries to accommodate the issue to make sure it is getting solved. So they do help.

It's very easy to get somebody out with HomeService. In general, their services are very good. But I just finished an attempt to repair a refrigerator that HomeServe said they couldn't support anymore after two visits from a refrigerator repairman who said that the small part on my refrigerator that was having a problem was not serviceable. So I'm having to go out on my own with the Samsung refrigerator recommended technician and pay the $320 service by myself.

We've had about four uses of HomeServe that went very happy. But the claim for the air conditioner surprised me. There was an overflow tray was filling up the water and the switch shut off the unit because the pump to get the water out had failed. HomeServe told me that that pump was not covered by the warranty. I understood that the evaporator coil on that unit was not covered because it's a very expensive, $1,000 part. But I was surprised that a $300 pump for the drain pan would be excluded. So I paid for that one myself.

Evidently, my understanding of the Dominion Energy AND HomeServe policy to replace the unit in the event repairs were no longer possible was wrong. I normally call in when I have a claim and then they ask me what's going on and see what it’s covered under. Then they get ahold of whoever their people in the area are that might cover that type of service. If it’s a Sunday or it's later in the day, sometimes they might not call till the next morning. But that’s understandable because maybe that service isn’t open at the time. They do call in a reasonable amount of time and then they get there. HomeServe's customer service is not very helpful. Most of the times, there is long wait. From reaching to them to scheduling for service, it takes a lot of lot of efforts. If there's other choice, I probably would not be using them. Unfortunately, I have to work with them. From the way they allow you to report an incident that requires a repair or maintenance, all the way up to their web user interface to access the warranty you want, it's below par.

This account is registered under my wife's name and phone number. When we made the call, we requested the customer support to have the service technician to contact the tenants, and we gave them the tenant’s number and the time. But a lot of times, I don't know if they did not do it. The technicians still end up calling us and we have to let the tenants know. This is pretty much wasteful of our time in making duplicate calls. Also, the contractors just show up without even calling either us or the tenants. No one is there to wait for them, so they just leave. We call back HomeServe and we are told a technician was there.

The quality of their contractor, a lot of times, is not that great. We had couple of services by the technician and they were not able to do the job. They told us that it was beyond the scope of the coverage. They asked us to call other plumbers and HomeServe said it was not going to be covered. We called this local technician, and due to the urgency they fixed it in no time. The charge was much less than this technician sent from HomeServe. The HomeServe technician said it would cost cost us a couple of thousand dollars. But the technician we found ourselves was able to finish it in one hour and charge us $200.

We have used them for different reasons, primarily for plumbing issues, and they've been responsive. We've had a bit of hit and miss with some of the contractors that have been sent. But for the most part, we have been satisfied. We've had O'Grady Plumbing. I requested them because they've always been very thorough and responsive. They explained the problem in detail, gave us advice on how to prevent things from happening in the future. And this last time, what we were afraid was a major incident turned out to not be major and they explained everything properly. So, we're very pleased with O'Grady.

However, we had some difficulty with one of the contractors. The only reason I would give less than perfect to HomeServe is that a contractor was sent out a second time, even though I requested that they not be used. And the contractor intercepted the call. So, they showed up and I denied them access. And the contractor I requested, which was O'Grady, called immediately afterward and was unaware. We gave them access and they addressed the issue.

HomeServe sent me an invitation by mail for air conditioning preseason tune up for $89. I arranged service call and technician came and during his service call it came up in conversation during my questioning that he would expect $178 since we have 2 air conditioners. This is not mentioned in the written invitation nor during the scheduling of the service call. I called customer service and was told I should never have been sent an invitation in the first place. Customer service declined to stand by the advertised offer. I told the technician to leave. I do not do business with bait and switch companies. I was looking to establishing service contract but not with a company who does not stand by their word. Although the offer highlights our power supplier, PSEG, this is apparently a separate company. My efforts to ask who is a responsible business manager for the company was unsuccessful. Do business with this company at your own risk.

The plumber had come to look at it and give them an idea of the problem. When he came the next day, he did a wonderful job and we were able to get our water back on. I had been receiving offers to buy this service for several years and finally in January of 2021, I decided that it wasn't very much to pay if we, indeed, had a leak. Boy and I thrilled that we enrolled in your program. We never could have afforded the repair.

I had a bad experience with HomeServe. I called them up for inside wiring and they sent us an electrician the other week. I explained to him what had happened and he headed to the fuse box. He messed with that and went out on the patio. I told him that we had unplugged everything out there. He told me there wasn't anything wrong but one of the ceiling fans needed to be replaced. But he called up HomeServe and gave the rep a lot of other things that he said had to be done. I’ve had other people here, but they didn’t say that. I told the woman to have somebody in supervision to call me and they never did. I asked them to send another electrician over and they haven't even done that. That’s been three weeks ago this coming Friday. I’m trying to weigh whether I even wanna stay with HomeServe or not. This is the first time I've ever had a problem with them.

However, I’ve been having some issues with the water company because I went through HomeServe through the water company. I just had to cancel yesterday. But the lady from HomeServe told me to just give it 48 hours to 72 hours so that I could set up HomeServe directly and not through the water company, because the water company has not been paying HomeServe properly. This has been a very frustrating situation for us as twice a plumber provided by Homeserve determined we did not have a leak and twice our utility has come out after and determined we did. I have a very wet yard and it tested positive for chlorine. My meter may be the problem as it hasn’t detected a slow leak. I did test this by putting on my faucet a little and the meter did not move. I called Homeserve and they said I couldn’t do anything because of the plumber’s determination. The plumber is supposed to return this week for a leak detection but I would really like it fixed as that why we signed up for the service. I will say Homeserve was quick to respond initially but I got stuck in the middle trying to get it fixed with no help. I have attached the write up from our utility and photos of my wet yard. As noted, the utility did test the yard for chlorine to determine the leak as well.

I’m a little on the fence with HomeServe. I had them come out not too long ago. I was waiting for a follow-up but they never followed back up with me, nor did their contractor that they sent out. My basement flooded once before I got them. I told them and they said for them to send someone out, it has to have a leak twice. My basement flooded again and a plumber came out. He rodded it and put a camera there. He saw some roots growing in the piping. But the issue was never resolved. Pushing the thing down was just a Band-Aid over the big problem. For them to let someone come out and rod it, that's just a $100 service call that I could do with someone else. That's not fixing the problem. The reason that a homeowner gets these warranty companies is when things like this happen, you don't need someone to just come out and rod something. You wanna get down to the source of the problem.

What I discussed with HomeServe was that I don't want a Band-Aid solution. I wanted the problem be fixed because the technician said it might happen again in six months. When he said that to me and when he had me sign off on the paperwork, I made sure that he wrote that in the report. I visually saw him write that in there that it can happen again. The rep seemed so concerned and very sympathetic with my call. However, it goes past those people once the order is put in and there's nothing they can do or follow up. I'm not upset about their timeliness. They came out in a very appropriate amount of time. I'm just a little upset about the follow-up or their ability to fix the problem.

A sewer was backing up into the basement. It does that at times as you got leaves and grass that get in there. On top of that, it's connected to the county sewer as well. It was very easy to submit the claim with HomeServe and they responded on the same day I did it. The issue was resolved the first time the plumber came out and they were well-aware of it because we always have that same issue.

When you're a homeowner, you need this type of coverage because if you have a breakage in your sewer line, it only goes to a certain point as far as always being your responsibility versus the county's responsibility. I have two sewer lines, one that goes out in the front and that is for the bathroom on the second floor. The other one goes out in the backyard and that is for the bathroom on the first floor which is very expensive to repair. We're talking between $4,000 to $5,000 and who has that kind of money? Instead of replacing the pipe that's going to constantly be cracked or broken, something they would have to dig up, they rather just come out 10 times and snake it.

I also had to have a service call because sewage was backing up underneath the house with the crawlspace. It was a horrible odor and it was bad. At the time, I had exterior line coverage. They came out, flipped off the top of the cleanout and looked in there, and said there was nothing wrong and left. So we called, someone else came out. They had to bring the camera to put down the drain. They said that it was a crack. I said, “You got to fix it.” But they said, “We're not going to pump out the sewage. You have to pay for that.”

I had to pay someone $700 to come and pump out all the raw sewage that had accumulated under the house. They dug up about a four foot piece and replaced it with six. Then two weeks later, the basement leaked again. Because farther out towards the street, there had been another breakage, over the years. So they had to come back out and dig it up again the second time. If they would have done it right the first time, it would have cost them a lot less money. Most recently, I've had some issues with their response. When I've called, they said the order wasn’t placed. That happened twice on my most recent service call. But they always send someone out. So HomeServe is definitely worth it to have.

My washing machine wasn't draining. National Service Alliance came out and they were absolutely competent, efficient and great. It was a stackable washer. They said we had to unstack it 'cause they don't do that. I'm here alone so, that was a little bit of a problem. That was the only thing that caught me off guard with the vendor. But it turns out, I don't like them stacked anyway. So now, I got the washer and dryer next to each other. It turned out to be perfect. I would definitely use that vendor again.

When you call a plumber to come to your house to do something for you, they can charge you anywhere from 200 upwards. By the time they're done with the work, you could be paying 250, 300, or more. If you don't have something like HomeServe and you have a drainage problem, unclogging the drain can cost you about 250. If you had a problem with sewage outside, it's even more than you can pay. They have to open up the ground and change the drain. It's about 2,000 or 3,000. And who has that money just lying down to pay for such an expense? Not all of us have money.

Two years ago, I did a claim with HomeServe and it was fine. I had difficulty with the plumber who came because he started doing the job then he was supposed to come back and finish up but he never came. I called him several times and he wouldn't come. I decided to just let go. On the whole, HomeServe is good. When I'm not having a great experience with a contractor, I will call HomeServe and let them know. This time, I called them to ask a few questions about the coverage and it's been okay.

I've used them on the furnace twice, on the air conditioner once and the sewer line that needed repair. We still owed some money on it but it took a big chunk of the bill out. Then they also came and did the restoration work on the yard and the little bit of work that was done in the yard and on the street. So, it has worked out. We just had the furnace people out last weekend. The igniter went on our furnace, and the guy had the part in his truck. Usually, all we do is call in and get the service provider to come out and do the work. So far, so good. The only glitch we had was back when we did have the sewer line work done and it took a little while to get the restoration people to come out because of scheduling.

About 35 days after I signed up, the pilot light on the water heater went out, and it was a connecting service. So, that's the positive thing. I didn't have to pay for the service call. When the contractor did call that day, their system was down. So, they had to do everything by hand. I told them I live in Murrieta, and they automatically thought it's Marietta, Georgia instead of Murrieta, California. They did tell me that they contacted somebody in California or in my area, and then they said they would come the same day between 3:00 and 7:00. The guy showed up at 7:15 because we were the last one on the route, and there was traffic. He fixed the thing right away. It didn’t take him very long. He was very good. He knew what he was doing.

When I did the claim, I got disconnected several times with the HomeServe number I called. The numbers that are on the paper are worthless. I got a recording, I put in my street address, and it said it didn't match. Then I tried the other number that’s on the back, and I got a recording, I got transferred, and then I got disconnected. I tried it again, and I got transferred and got disconnected. So, those phone calls never went through. So, then I went on my email and I found the number and I got through. The person I spoke with gave me another number to call so, now, I have two numbers just in case I have to call again.

I had greased and oiled bushing and checked belt tension changed air filter before he came. He basically did the same, messed with control valve loosening caps on ports and then left, said he was done. Didn't clean the burners or check what was vibrating and making the noise. After he left noticed the house was cold. checked my thermostat was 68 degrees, had it set to kick in furnace at 72 degrees. Went to furnace and noticed no pilot light burning. I light the pilot light furnace kicked on.

For several days I would have to liight the pilot light. Noticed pilot thermo coupler had fresh vice grip marks on it. I cleaned corrosion on it and valve, unhooked thermo coupler from control valve and burped gas through valve to flush debris out. Pilot light works good now but furnace still vibrating and burners not burning correctly. This service isn't worth the monthly cost they charge. I have been paying for the last 25 years. Could have bought a new furnace with fee charged.

I've had a water leak for a week and I'm wasting about 1,000 gallons a day. The contractor that HomeServe sent told me that they didn't see any water leak outside. Yet, they weren't able to check inside because at that time, I was quarantining, so they took it upon themselves to put on my diagnostics that the leak was inside, which they just assumed. They said, “The only way we could be for sure is if you get a water shutoff valve installed in your house. And we could do that for you for $350 because the insurance doesn't cover it.” I told them no. I'm going to wait. I had to get my home warranty to come out because they said it was inside. They came out and they couldn't figure it out either. I ended up getting a water shutoff valve and it was outside. If their contractor would have done a better job at figuring that out, we would have been somewhere last week.

Now I’m here stuck and we have a freeze tomorrow. I don't know what I'm going to do because I still have the leak and I’m probably at 13,000 gallons already. I called yesterday and the customer service rep said that they had already gone and made a diagnosis. Now it's going to have to be approved to get somebody else out there. I told him that I have a water leak. I'm the customer and I pay monthly. If I’m asking for a service call, there should be somebody coming out. This morning I called back because the rep never called me back and the customer service agent I got was excellent. But I would have thought that I would have had some response by 10:00, and now I’m stuck without a plumber. I would doubt they will come tomorrow because of the freeze. My situation is still not been taken care of. I also don't want the same people going again.

But they didn't get the interior at the same time. That's why I ended up having pay $125. Other than that, the contractors have all been very good.

With HomeServe, I can get somebody out quicker than a regular plumber. I was having a major issue a few weeks ago and the guy who came out was nice but he couldn’t do it. He had to call back in to HomeServe, and they had to send out another company because it turned out that my problem was they had to go onto the roof and clean out the drain, and the guy who first came couldn't do any of that stuff. The new guys were here within a couple of hours to get it done that day. So, that was great.

Home Serve's phone system needs improvement. When you call, multiple people ask you the same questions. They ask your information and what you're calling for. They transfer you to another person that does the same, and then transfer you. Last month, I submitted a claim and in the beginning, there was difficulty to get an appointment or to talk to somebody. When they sent the person, they gave me a window time, between 8:00 and 4:00. But I needed to work and I needed to know at least one hour earlier when they were coming. I hope they can send a notification letting us know when the person is on the way. Because of that, I lost the appointment as there was a lack of communication.

I called to get another appointment. They said, “Okay. We'll send an email. We will call you in 24 hours.” 24 hours passed but they never called me. When I called back, they said exactly the same thing. I had to call about six times. Finally, I talked to the supervisor, because I felt like that was not going anywhere. The supervisor took the matter into her hands. She made sure that I was taken care of and I was able to get an appointment. They said to replace the appliance because there was no company able to come to fix it.

I just want to make sure everything is covered that wouldn't normally be covered under homeowner's insurance. The lady I spoke with at HomeServe was very nice. She told me that certain things aren't covered by the homeowner's insurance so their warranty is good to have. I wasn't too happy with the first call that I reached out to them on. I was put on hold for the longest time. Then, when I spoke the second time, the rep goes, "Well drips aren't covered." Somebody was supposed to come and the contractor never even bothered contacting me.

When I called HomeServe, I said the person didn't even bother contacting me or coming by and three weeks had passed. The weekend was coming up. And they said, “Well, there's nobody that can contact you. You have to wait till Monday.” And I said, “What do you mean Monday? What if I had a serious issue or my pipe busted? You're telling me I have to wait till Monday?” They apologized and called someone else to look at the issue.

The last contractor who came was KGH and I was showing them drips happening in the bathtub and the kitchen. The bathtub was clogging up a little bit. The plumber removed the bottom part with a drain and said, “There's some hair here. You have to make sure you take the hair out and stuff like that. And this is how you can clean the hair out. But it seems like the water is going down fine.” So, that was more the issue because the water was going down slowly. But, I mentioned the drippy pipes and he said, “Oh we don't cover that kind of stuff and you have to change the faucet. You can buy a new faucet system to have put in.” That didn't help much. I wasn't too crazy about that answer because I paid for someone to fix the drip that was happening in the bottom of the pipe and he looked and he goes, “I don't think this is the issue. I think it's more like the pipe that's inside the wall.”

I was like, “This other guy didn't do what you did and I had to pay this guy to stop the dripping, and it's still dripping a little bit. And I think there's something wrong with the pipe on the inside.” That last company that came didn't go through the whole thing other than to say, “No, it's fine. It doesn't look like there's an issue here.”

Also, I just bought my home in April and the heat is not really coming out. It's to the highest and it's still showing 70 degrees. There might have been something wrong because I kept hearing water running through the pipes, which I never heard before when I used my heat. Someone else came and he's like, “Oh, no. It's hot in here.” That was what the other guy told me. And I said, “But do you understand what I'm saying? Can you look to make sure like the heat is coming out correctly?” And he said, “This is a different contractor.” Because there were two different issues with the water dripping and the thing with the heat, Home Serve said that's another appointment. I didn't feel like the guy with the heat did enough. I could have done it myself, taken a walk downstairs and said, “Hey, everything looks fine. I don't hear any funny noises.” Why am I paying for a service when no one's really doing anything other than taking a look on the outside?

I'm not 100% happy and I'm thinking of canceling. When I call up, no one even calls to follow up to say, “Hey, okay. Did they come? Was everything fine? Were you satisfied?“ Nothing. I had to reach out to them and then call them. I'm going to look for another warranty company and I'm not going to stick with HomeServe. I don't want to have to pay out-of-pocket if I have a warranty for this kind of stuff.

My drains were backing up. HomeServe said they will get in touch with someone to snake them. They called me back an hour later and told me the name of the company that would be here and approximately what time they would be here. They said they would call me before they came and they did promptly at 7:30 in the morning to tell me they'd be here between 10:00 and 11:00. They were here at 10:45.

I opened the main drain in the front yard for the tech and showed him where it was. They took the cover off, pressure cleaned it, and then ran the camera down. They said it's full of roots so they took the cutter and cut them all out. Then they flushed the drain again. Everything was flushing and going smoothly. I flushed the toilet and they watched it go down. Everything was fine and I haven't had a problem since. We like HomeServe. It's not a problem for me to get ahold of them. Within a day, there's somebody out to snake our drain. They've been very prompt. It's a savings to me. If I had to call a plumber, it's gonna cost me the amount that I paid per year for them to come out once.

My experience was easy. Black stuff was bubbling out of the basement drain. They got somebody out within two hours which was a very pleasant surprise. The tech fixed the issue when he came. At first they thought it might be a waste line issue but it wasn't. There was a clog in the pipe that he was able to dislodge. So, I didn't have to wait. If there was a sewage issue where they had to dig up the pipes, that would be thousands of dollars that I do not have. The warranty is peace of mind. It's an affordable monthly payment. I'm not gonna be out $1,000.

The guy who recently came here through HomeServe was kind of rude. The repair was for the plumbing. It was an emergency because the toilet was clogged and there was poop in there. He used a snake to clear it up. He was able to clear it. The snake had water in it and it was dirty. So, I told him I got a plastic garbage bag and he could put the snake on it so it would not be dripping on my carpet. I don't want poop and water to drip on my carpet. Even if he said he already drained it, it's not like he let it dry for a long time. He said, "No, I already drained it." I said, "No, if you can just put it in." He said he didn't want to. I put the plastic on the very end of the snake. He was holding the snake, but since it was long, I was able to put it in and I said, "Okay. You can just give me the snake and I'll take it down." He said, "Don't touch it. Don't touch it." He got a girl with him, too, and he said, "Let's get out of here." He was pissed.

So far, every time I get a service with HomeServe, I get headaches. Sometimes, the service people are gonna come in and if it's wet out there, I say, "Can you put something, cover on your shoes, like a shoe cover?" They said, "Oh, I don't have a shoe cover." When I told them to just remove their shoes, all of a sudden, "Oh, yeah. Let me check. Maybe I got a shoe cover." If you don't ask them, they're just gonna walk in. They don't care because it's not their house.

There was a claim before where the plumber that came here was telling me I was having a water problem and he said, "You don't have any water because you have a well problem. Your well is dried out." He was recommending and advising me to call a well company. When I called the well company, they said, "Oh, your well is dry, we're gonna fix it. We need $13,000." I called four other contractors that came here after him and they said, "It's not dried out, you just need to replace this the tank in your crawl space." I went bought a tank and I hired another plumber to replace it, and it was fixed for less than $200.

I had a problem the latest time that I did a claim to HomeServe. It took four people before the problem got fixed. The sink was clogged, so they sent the guy out here. He started running the snake. He said, “I can’t run the snake. You need a jetter.” So, a piece was broken too. The second person came out and said, “I can’t jet it because he broke a piece. And now I have to order a piece.” I was like, “Well, okay.” The next day, he kept saying, “The piece wasn’t in. The piece wasn’t in.” Then, the third guy came out.

He said he was gonna cut my cabinet. I was like, “You’re gonna cut my wall? How big is it?” “Oh, it’s gonna be a small cut.” He proceeded to cut the wall all the way down. He stood there and said, “I’ve never seen a problem like this before.” Then he was like, “I can’t fix it.” And I said, “Why?” When he opened up the wall, he said, “Your pipe is leaning, and so I can't change the whole new pipe.” I said, “Well, that's fine. Would you just snake it?” He was like, “No. Can’t snake it either.” I said, “Would you jet it?” “Nope. Can’t do that either.” I said, “So, you’re gonna just leave it like this and put the piece on?” He said, “Yeah. ‘Cause you got plumbing damaged.” He called the home structure damaged. I said, “Let me tell you something. There is four pieces up there, and one of them is damaged, one 2 x 4. So, don't tell me that.” He was like, “I can’t do it.” And he left.

So, I called HomeServe and I said, “Don't send them back at my house ever again.” They sent the fourth guy out. His name was Richard. I love him to death. He came and just looked at it. He snaked the 25 feet out through my kitchen and the bathroom. It was fixed. Somebody called me from HomeServe and checked and made sure the fourth guy did it right. They made sure everything was right. So, I would recommend HomeServe because they did everything to fix the issue.
