I’m very grateful that I did get the flyer of HomeServe ‘cause they helped me out a whole lot. Sometimes, I forget I have it, and I pay people to come in and fix what messed up. So, I just decided to organize everything so that if I need them and it’s an emergency, I can call them. They helped fixed issues with the outside plumbing. I also had an issue with my hot water heater a month ago. I didn’t call Homeserve ‘cause I forgot I had them. I called a person to come out that works on my house, and he fixed it. As soon as he fixed it, I found the paper. I called Homeserve to ask them if they could reimburse, they said no.

But it’s not difficult to submit a claim to HomeServe. They only have two plumbers though. So, that was something different for me. When I asked the person who answered the phone, the customer service said they only had two plumbers that they dealt with. And one of the plumbers that he gave me the phone number of wanted to wait a week later to come. And a sewer had backed up at my home, and I couldn’t wait a week. So, they gave me a number of the other one, Hers & His Plumbing, and they came right on out. HomeServe should get some more plumbers to come out. And if I pay someone to repair something, maybe HomeServe can reimburse us back since we have the warranty. That’s the only thing I see wrong. Other than that, I like it.

All the representatives from HomeServe have been nice, and submitting a service request has been easy. It usually takes three to four days for someone to come out. When I had a plumbing issue, they sent Leo's Plumbing out. They're excellent. I would recommend them to everyone. The tech took care of some problems. He was certified under my contract to do the outside of the sewage, and I called HomeServe and they allowed him to replace the toilet that their previous plumber took out. They allowed him to do that since he was here, and he did an excellent job. He did what I wanted him to do.

I'm still dealing with the repercussions from the first plumber that came out though. He flooded my whole basement with sewer, and my homeowner's is working on correcting it. Most of their plumbers and other technicians have been wonderful and I've been very pleased. I just have this one bad experience with this one plumber. Also, I need copies of invoices to give to my homeowner's policy in order for them to cover it, showing them all what he did. I've called HomeServe three times. Until I get that paperwork, I'm not very satisfied.

Very displeased because of misleading and misinformed warranty coverage sold in 2017. The warranty company told me my heater replacement is not covered for which I have been paying since 2017 through Dominion Energy company’s monthly payment. I was told, And, I was never provided any paperwork, that my hot water heater is 75 gallons and the warranty covers hot water heaters up to 66 gallons. I was further told that market does not sell 66 gallons hot water heaters. Market sells 65 gallon, 55 gallon and 50 gallon water heaters. The company was only able to install 50 gallons water heater. The other two, 55 gallons and 65 gallons are not available right away, will need special order and it will take another visit and unspecified days to get them. My wife and I are old people. So, we were left with no choice but to pay $1,995 out of pocket to get 75 gallons water heater installed immediately.

Since this was very misleading coverage provided, I should be refunded the above mentioned amount. I hope, other people, especially senior citizens, are not sold similar misleading coverage. If I don’t receive a proper resolution, I do plan on filing a complaint with Dominion Energy and consumer service about our situation and will also request a refund our money that has been paid since 2017, for a warranty coverage that was never intended for a coverage, especially when I was never asked or told about the warranty up to non-existing 66 gallons hot water heater. That was an outrageous price and I refused service. I had just received a bill from water company for 18,000 gallons which was most likely caused by the leaking toilet plumbing. I believe the repair should have been authorized and I am very unhappy because it wasn't.

I was so leery the first time I submitted a service request, but it worked. I also had my furnace replaced, and they even told me that the thing needed to be replaced. The other day, I had a problem with my water tank and the tech came out to try to fix it. I felt they could, but they were saying that they could not. Nevertheless, overall, that was excellent.

One of my friends introduced Homeserve to me. I got it because I felt like it was needed, so it’s for safety. The experience from a company-wise is pretty good. I like it. Each time I call, I get a quick dispatch to have company showing up, and they come to my home. At least from their company perspective, they take care of me well. My complaint is their contractors. When the company goes to my place, they are not really doing the job they're supposed to do because they just wanna walk away quickly. The job I ask them to do, which is to clean the pipe, either they clean well or just clean a little bit and say, “Water is going down instead of getting stuck so you're fine now. If you have problems, just call back again.” I’m not really satisfied with the job they are doing.

I feel like my home particularly is having that drain problem because of the structure, it’s easy to get stuck. Each time the company came in, I was trying to tell them, they have to do good work. So, I don't have to call them back again for, my expectation, at least more than half a year. But the reality is the company came there just doing not very good work. I did call in only two months, then I’d have to call somebody back. So, that is really not what I wanna do because I know for the whole service, every year, there are only two covered. So, if they're doing that work to me, then my service will be quickly used up.

Some of my friends had gotten Homeserve and told me that it was a good thing to get into when you have rental properties. I now have it on my rental properties and my own home. The things that were discussed when we first got started are the things that they do when problems arise. Submitting claims is smooth. Everybody is very friendly and professional.

I have a rental property that had a problem with the sewer drain, which had a clog in it. They came out several months ago and unclogged it. And then, about four months, it did it again. They came out and resolved the issue. They called me to let me know that they were coming here, when they were on their way and when they got here. They did what they were being paid to do. I don't even think they were there an hour before they resolved it. But maybe something more permanent needs to be done to keep them from having to come out so frequently. They said that after they fixed it the last time, they wouldn't be able to do something more significant until the next time something happens.

The City of Baltimore recommended HomeServe's service because of our aging infrastructure. I have 4 accounts for 4 houses covered in 3 different jurisdictions. Basically, my experience with the claim process has been good but the last one wasn’t. What happened was I had a leak and the plumber who came out misdiagnosed it. Initially, they came out and their first inclination was that it was a drain leak in the upstairs bathroom and it was gonna be a big deal. The first thing they said was, “We’d already cut the wall out to look.” Then they backtracked on that and said, “No. We just need to replace this pipe here.” So, it was gonna be more than they could deal with in the time frame that I had an expectation they would deal with it.

They would've eventually gotten it right, but I needed a faster turnaround than they were able to provide. I ended up hiring my own plumber and ended up with a huge job. I have pictures of how it was misdiagnosed and I imagine the original company would've figured this out. I need to go back and resubmit the claim but there’s a lot of paperwork. So, except for this last contractor who got a little bit beyond what they thought they were doing in their contract and it was basically to come out and address a leak, the contractors have been fine.

For simple things, if there really is no huge problem, then the HomeServe warranty is awesome. I’ve had that done a couple times. It’s certainly good for getting the drains cleared, and the turnaround’s real quick which is typically within 24 hours. But if there is a leak and walls have to be torn out and appliances have to be replaced, I don’t feel the service is able to respond in a manner that’s prompt enough for me because my properties are rentals and I have to respond to tenants. While HomeServe doesn’t provide 360 coverage for my plumbing, they are good for what it’s good for.

It's easy to call the number to submit a claim but hard to make the person at the other end understand what you're saying. It seems like they have a certain set of repairs that they do and if it's anything outside that, they don't hear it. We've only submitted one claim and the young lady that I talked to definitely was not a plumber. She only wanted to hear that it was this or that. HomeServe said we would get a call from whoever the contractor was, and they would arrange for the times. But they did not tell us when to expect the contractors to come out. But the service done by the contractor was excellent.

The young gentleman did all of the steps needed to figure out what was wrong. We found something that was wrong, we fixed it, and two days after he left, we're getting the same leak again. I'm trying to find out where it is and what it is. So the next time we call, we can actually get it taken care of. But the tech did a good job. It's just one of those things that you don't know what it is until it comes out again.

Repair guy wanted cash under table to fix and then wouldn't put in paperwork with his company but would send bill to Home serve for just house visit and estimate and state that I was doing the work myself. I thought it would be a good idea to go with HomeServe. I had a service request and there was no problem with it. I’m kind of ancient and my eyes are bad. My daughter did most of the talking with the representative because I couldn't read. I have macular degeneration, and I have more trouble reading the information on the agreement. So, she handled that, but I was there at the time. She had it on speakerphone, and everything sounded good. Ray Hall came out and installed the water heater. They did a very good and neat job and cleaned up. I was pleased with that.

I had Dominion Products and Services and Homeserve picked up the contract for that coverage about two years ago. The calls were taken promptly and the people seemed to be knowledgeable. The follow-up, when there’s an issue, doesn't always get resolved. I’m still waiting on an issue that I elevated to Homeserve about four months ago and I haven’t heard any status yet. But recently, we had an electrical problem and Homeserve had someone out the next day. The technician was very good, professional, knowledgeable, and he listened to understand the problem. Everything is going well now.

Called Home Serve when our furnace wasn't working. The exterior temperature was in the 20's and the temperature inside our home was in the 50's. They said it would take 2 days to get a repair person to our home. I advised them of the temperature in our home and that the weather forecast was for below freezing and I needed someone sooner. Didn't matter, still took 2 days to have it repaired. Once the technician did arrive he fixed it promptly and I'm very happy with his service. I feel that home serve should be more sensitive to customer needs and have the ability to perhaps go outside of their normal list of contractors under certain circumstances, which I believe this certainly warranted.

Cancelled this service, not worth it, don't buy. They use limited companies to service and waiting 2 days for a furnace is not acceptable with low temps. On October 25, 2017 only two seasons prior to that I spent $2,400 on the issue error message 109, the boiler stopped working, the renter told me. I called HomeServe without know what it was. A guy called Roger went to 17, met with me and said he would replace it with a better boiler. I had no doubt as I thought any brand would be better than Munchkin. He said he would get a boiler installed in a week or so and I would get $2,000 of rebate for a high efficiency boiler. I signed a contract with him and paid in full. The boiler was Burnham Alpine. After paying Roger the boiler was installed a few days later.

I never saw Paul again. He did not give me any paperwork. I needed information and forms to apply for the rebate. So I called him numerous times, often unable to get in touch, only leaving messages. He never returned my call. I pass the deadline for rebate application which was 12/21/2017. I explained the situation with the rebate office. They allowed me to submit the rebate form on 1/5/2018. On 11/24/2019 the lady living in the house texted me that the heating stopped working since the night before.

I called Roger at HomeServe and left a voice message. Then I called HomeServe customer service. They said there was no record of a boiler installed in my house. As such they could not help me. I told them it was their salesman, Roger, who sold me the system two years before. I complained about not getting any paperwork after the installation. Nor did he give me any information about the warranty. I knew the system must have a warranty. I looked online and found the warranty to be 5 years on parts and labor. However the buyer must fill out a registration card. Roger did not give me the warranty card or tell me anything about it. Does that mean I have lose the warranty?

I called a plumber to fix it on 11/25. He said the main control had broken down. And he could not buy it because he was did not have a Massachusetts plumber’s licensed. I called the maker of Burnham Alpine boiler for help. Did not getting any help. Called the distributor, Portland Group in Newton, talked to Fred. He sounded willing to help. But it was near 5pm and he would be on vacation the next few days. He helped identifying the part number so that when I go to the store I would know what to ask. I went to Portland Group on 11/25 and talked to Keith. He told me that they only sell to licensed plumber who installed the boiler, or the company that installed the boiler. I was not able to buy it. However, he told me that I would still be entitled to the warranty even though I did not file the form.

Keith told me to contact Kerivan-Lane heating supply company in Needham. I did. They said that they could not come to fix the boiler until 3 weeks later. I l tried everywhere for a company or service that would do the repair. No luck. When there was nothing I could do I called a friend and asked for advice. He told me to call Grainger supplies to buy the part. I was happy and sure that I would get the part the next day. But Grainger would not sell me that part either.

During those few days I continue to try talking to HomeServe to get help. A guy named Paul called me in response to my voice message to Roger. He said Roger had left and he had taken Roger’s role. He said I should call the installation department and ask them to send a technician over. In the end, I talked with someone at customer service. They would send a technician over to check the boiler for $180. Then the technician would come on a different day to do the actual repair. I must agree to pay for the visit and the repair, and get the labor charge refunded later. A technician, Bob, came. He identified the boiler’s main control was broken and needed a replacement.

On 11/27/19 HomeServe replaced the Sage Control. I paid for the labor. They told me That the labor charge would be refunded to me by Burnham manufacturing company and that I should contact Home Serve installation department to learn how to proceed. On 12/11/19 I called HomeServeUSA asking about the labor fee refund. They told me their operation department would call me in 24-48 hours to give me the paperwork that Roger failed to give me in Oct 2017 after the installation to tell me how to get the labor coverage from the manufacturer. But I never heard from HomeServe after that.

12/2319 I Called HomeServe customer service department. They told me to call Ms.** of installation department. I tried to call but the number they gave me was wrong. I called customer service again and got the correct number. So I used the correct number to call their installation department again. After getting through I was transferred to repair department and spoke to Bryan. Bryan said there was no record showing I was a customer or any boiler that was installed in my house. He only found the record of the repair job on 11/27/19. I explained the whole situation to him and said I had talked to dozens of people at HomeServe to get the repair work done. Now I am having such difficulty getting the refund.

Bryan said the replacement of the main control was $1594. They only charged me for the labor, $265. I said the Sage Control at supply store was $599. Your company made a good profit. Do the right thing and serve your customer properly. He said they only charged me $265, not that much. Bryan didn’t seem to believe that the boiler was installed by them. He asked if I knew I was speaking with HomeServe. I said I had the invoice on HomeServe’s letter head, Roger’s HomeServe email address, HomeServe’s phone number and the check image of payment for that boiler. He asked when the system was installed and what was the invoice number and amount. I told him it was installed on 10/25/2017 how much I paid. I also reiterated that the main control was broken in November 2019; the boiler worked for less than two seasons; it was under full warranty for parts and labor for 5 years.

12/26/2019 After spending a lot of time and effort trying to find out where and how I could make me problem known to the right person and the right company I wrote an email on USboiler’s website. 12/27/19 USBoiler replied. "All warranty goes through our Distributors, we do not handle that here at the factory. You will need to contact the Portland Group with you serial number to handle all warranty claims .They can be reached at 617-527-7040. If you need further assistance you will need to have Homeserve call in here and speak with their representative."

12/31/2019 Called Home Serve customer service and spoke to Savannah at length recounting the story. She asked me to fax over the installation contract and the repair invoice. I told her that I did not have a fax machine and would like to mail the materials by regular mail. She gave me the address, my reference number, her supervisor’s name and her own name. Those should be written on the envelope. Home Serve 7134 Lee Highway Chatenouga, Tennessee 37421

Customer Reference #**. Attention: Savanannah. Attention: Supervisor Vallory. I sent the package by certified mail on 1/4/20 and waited till 1/16 to call Home Serve.

1/16/20 After waiting for 12 days I tried to get some answers from Home Serve. I called 5 times different time and spoke with 5 different reps because time I was transfer to the repair department or someone who might be able to help me. Each time after waiting for a long time the line was cut off. I was on the phone for about two hours waiting. 1st rep was Lina, 2nd rep was Trezis (man). 3rd rep was Teresa. 4th rep was Sarah. 5th rep was Alyssa. I begged Sarah to make sure that I would be actually transferred to someone instead of being cut off like the previous 3 times. She promised that she would stay on the line to make sure that I was connected to the repair department. However that did not happened. I waited for more times than the previous 3 times.

When I spoke with the 5th rep Alyssa, I asked her not to transfer me because it would only fail. She put me on hold while she spoke with different people. She reviewed my account, verified some info. Then she told me there was no indication that they had received my certified mail. This is clear that Savannah and her supervisor Valery were so irresponsible that they did not even open the certified mail or if it needed to be picked up at the post office they did not do it. What other excuse could it be?

After holding for several times Alyssa came back to talk to me. She said she found out where the problem was. She said all the reps I spoke with in the past did not do anything to help because I did not have a service contract with Home Serve and that was why I had to pay for labor. I told her the reason why I did not have a service contract was because Home Serve salesman never informed me of anything. He did not give me the warranty card or other paperwork, he did not put in Home Serve’s computer the information on the sale of the boiler to me. Consequently Home Serve refused to repair my boiler because they couldn’t find my account and did not believe they had installed the boiler.

I had to go around Boston, Newton and Brookline to find a company to do the repair because it was in the cold winter the people in the house could not go without heat. Those companies I called said I should call the company that sold me the boiler. Alyssa said the installation department already sent request for refund to Portland Group. I should go there, show them my repair invoice and tell them that Home Serve had sent them the request already. I asked for a reference number. She did not have it. She also told me Burnham Boiler company should be responsible for the warranty. Their number is 888-791-3790

Portland group said they were not authorized by USBoiler, the manufacturing company of Burham boilers, to refund any labor charge.

I wrote to USBoiler again. 2/3/2020 I emailed USBoiler and told them what had happened with Portland Group. 2/3/2020 USboiler replied: "As I stated before I do not and cannot make these decisions you must go through the Portland Group. Our warranties do not cover labor. The Portland Group will need to contact their representative to see if anything can be done. If you want to write a formal letter you can do that. We will get it to a supervisor. That is all I can do." It’s the same old story. I have been sent running in circle. I wrote back to the lady and asked what was the supervisor’s name and where I should send the formal letter as she had suggested/. She did not reply.

The city encouraged people to participate in getting a home warranty because of the age of homes. And our other neighbors have Homeserve, so it seemed like a wise decision. So far, with the claims that I’ve had to place, I’ve had to call in which has been easy. There’s just been a few little things that have come up like currently, we have a claim that is in process right now. There are just little details that have been kind of confusing that I’ve had to navigate for. But for the most part, it’s been fairly straightforward.

Their contractors have been very quick to respond, and they’ve been helpful. I’ve had a few little issues here and there, and I don’t know if it’s the contractor or more the technicians that were sent out. But we’re working through the issues and the company itself seems pretty reliable. Homeserve is a smart thing for the homes. It’s been very valuable and it offers peace of mind. And when I have had to file repairs or service claims, it’s been easy enough to do, and the response has been very quick. In that regard, I’ve been very pleased.

We had a problem with the pipe in the basement at the end of 2019 and when my husband called at that time, the guy said we only get two phone calls a year. And that was when we found out. I’ve never seen a company like that.

Lately, we’ve been having a plumbing problem. In 2019, a couple of months ago, my husband called about a leak. When we flush the toilet upstairs, it was coming downstairs to my kitchen cabinet. They came out to fix it. They made two holes, one in my bathroom and one in my kitchen. The kitchen was where the pipe with the hole was. They had to put a new pipe in my kitchen ceiling. After they finished doing that and putting a new pipe in, we found out HomeServe would not repair the hole. We had to pay someone to come out for $350 and do the hole. And we had to paint it ourselves because the guy wanted to charge more money to paint it.

This last time, we had a problem with the sink in the upstairs bathroom. Our son turned the sink on and the water started dripping in my kitchen, the same area where they put the first pipe in a couple of months ago. Different guys from last time came out and the guy said they gotta go into my ceiling in the kitchen. I started fussing. I was mad because we had our kitchen painted. And no way that that pipe could be busted. It hasn't even been six months yet when they put a new brand-new pipe in. The guy said he understood. The workers were nice. But I left the house because I couldn’t take it. I didn’t wanna have an attitude and take it out on them because it wasn’t fair to take it out on them.

I was mad with HomeServe. When I left, my husband called me and said they put two holes, the ceiling and over top of my cabinet. The pipe has no hole in it. I told them and nobody wanted to listen to me. Then, my husband said they were gonna have to go in my son’s room because the guy was saying that there’s a pipe behind the bed that leads to the sink. Now they’re gonna go busting holes all over because they don’t know where the hole is the water coming from? I understand they didn’t know where the pipe was, but what I didn’t like was that they went through my dining room because they thought maybe it was from the ceiling in the dining room. I will not recommend HomeServe to anybody.

I had to use HomeServe because of my furnace. The furnace broke and went off. They came out and when I went to see whether they could fix it or if I would have to get another one, they said the water heater was blown. I have everything in my house covered with HomeServe and I got enough to cover furnace. For the water heater, the young man came out and he said that it was gonna cost an extra 100. My son was asking why, which was a good question, but when you don't have hot water, that's nothing. The contractors were respectful, courteous, and businesslike. If you ask them a question, they could answer it. And that's what I go for. When it's business, it's about business. They're amenable, so I have no complaints. They came out and took care of what they came for.

What a great experience. We called 2 times in 2 weeks, once for our gas dryer and the 2nd time for our gas heater. Our technician Tony came out and had our dryer running within 2 hours and came back in 3 days and completed the repairs and our dryer is like new. The 2nd time for the heater we had a different tech, who told us he would try to order the parts but we needed a new system. Tony came back out 3 days later with the parts and had our heater running like new. This was an emergency as we have a newborn in the home and we desperately needed the heat. I would recommend HomeServe for all of your home repair needs, and maybe you will be lucky enough to get Tony to handle the repairs.

I have had problems with my waterline before and I had nobody to fix it except a landscape service and I'm not sure that they had much expertise. I decided to get a warranty. I had an issue with the engine in an 11-year-old water softener. It was shorting out and causing a lot of water to go down the drain. And that resulted in my water company coming out to look at the water meter and leaving me a little note saying that my water bill had increased considerably or alarmingly over the last month. I called HomeServe and somebody came out, looked at it, and said it was the water softener. I called the water softening people and they came out today. They said there's another problem and my water pressure is too high. I'm gonna have to get a new regulator first. I called my plumber and he's coming out. Everything's in the works.

I contacted HomeServe and it was a good experience. They sent someone out to my house very quickly and took care of the problem very quickly. There was a lot of follow-up and communication as far as when people were coming. Two different crews came out on different days, when they first checked to see what it was and then when they actually came to fix it. They were pleasant and polite. You are always concerned when you have people coming to your home to do a repair, especially when you don’t know what that repair is going to be and you don’t know how long it’s going to take. They were able to find the problem quickly and then get it fixed quickly even though they had to have the gas company come out and mark lines. It was all done in a very timely manner, less than a week.

I like that HomeServe started out with only having plumbing service, and now they’ve been adding different services and a lot of areas. I had American Home Shield at first and then I started using HomeServe, which is good because I don’t have to pay a deductible out of pocket -- with American Home Shield, you do. Claim submission with this warranty company is easy and quick. Whenever I submit one, I get a call within an hour or a couple of hours. It does not take long at all. Their contractors are excellent. They are very professional and the quality of their work is excellent. They always explain what they are doing and why they cannot do something. I have referred them several times, but people do not believe me when I tell them that there is no deductible. Overall, it’s a great service.

We had a leak in the front yard, so I called Homeserve, and they sent out Fletcher's Plumbing and Contracting out. However, it's still leaking. The technician that came out was responsive. I got his card, and I called him a couple more times. But he was very quick to blame the city, and he said, "You need to get the city out here and fix this." I said, "I don't think you're right. I don't think the leak is coming from the city's and of the water supply." He said, "Yes, it is" We looked around further, and I proved him wrong. And so, he had to recant, and he had to do his job a bit better in order to further deny responsibility. I understand being a contractor and issues like that, but he doesn't wanna take responsibility. He was very quick to put it into somebody else's court.

After the exterior line replacement, I have had no cold water in the master bathroom, can't flush the toilet, can't take a shower (I only have 2 bathrooms in the house). That said, I have been using the 2nd bathroom which now has a leak pipe in the wall, I called homeserve today 01-13-2019 again today @ to report the new leak. They called the leak a "critical working order" but nobody showed up to fix, I had been waiting for His and Hers Plumbing who said they would show up between 1 and 4pm. I called Home serve today 1-13-2019 @ 15:39 & spent 27min on the line with them while they were checking on His & hers plumbing company which never showed up. Finally, homeserve rep ? disconnected the call without giving me an answer.

Back in Oct 2019 I had another leak in the dinning room floor and HomeServe sent his and hers plumbing who refused to touch the line because they said they (His and Hers Plumbing) could not guarantee the work to Homeserve, and that the recommendation would be to re-pipe the house. I have been waiting for that answer for the Estimate on this re-piping of the house since October 2019. Every time you call homeserve you speak to a different Rep and you have to explain the whole ordeal again. And trying calling His and Hers Plumbing (the plumbing company Homeserve has assigned to my case) where one picks up the phone.

Can anyone tell me how these companies get away with such unprofessional behavior? His and hers plumbing sent an estimate to Homeserve months ago, and up to this point there is no resolution for my plumbing problem. I have been paying Homeserve on time, and I have every single HomeServe Plan offered by them in South Florida - Interior/ exterior plumbing, Sewage, A/C-water heater. I am very disappointed with their service. This is no joke. I feel like they are playing me for a fool. Can anyone help me with this issue?! Who can I report Homeserve to? please Help!!!

We came home from vacation to water in the basement and no hot water. Before calling a plumber I called HomeServe and the lovely operator assured me that my water heater problem would be covered and allowed me to choose from several plumbers that were available in my area. The HomeServe sanctioned plumber arrived at my home and diagnosed that the water heater would need to be replaced. He said he could not tell me how much HomeServe would cover and asked if he should move forward with the job. In need of hot water I told him to replace the water heater. When the job was over he gave me a bill for the entire $1,750 for the job telling me that HomeServe would pay nothing, not even for labor. I've since cancelled that policy and will soon cancel my other HomeServe policies. It seems HomeServe likes to receive premiums but they do not like to pay out when an event happens.

When the water line between our meter at the street and the shut-off at our house (a section apparently not covered by homeowner's insurance) ruptured and and shot water out of the ground, I called FPL Home Serve. This was on New Year's Day about 2 in the afternoon. I shut the water off at the meter, but we were now without water. At first, the woman told me that the contractor wasn't answering and I would have to try later. When I told her that was not acceptable, she tried another plumber. Next Plumbing was there by 5pm and fixed the leak. Alex from Next, determined that the entire length of pipe was bad, and got the approval to replace the whole thing. They did it the next day; got the inspection later, and filled it back in. I am very happy with their work and would recommend Next Plumbing to anyone.

She had a hard time finding an available technician, but kept me informed about it so I had no anxiety, and never wondered what was happening with my request. She actually called me twice to keep me up to date. I liked the no service fee coverage, which I didn't expect based upon previous experience with other companies.

The phone agent was sympathetic to my plight - I had two young children in the house - and promptly contacted a local heating/plumbing contractor. By 9:37PM, the local gentleman called me, stating that he was at a family member's house & could be at my location in @ 15 minutes. Not only did he arrive within the stated amount of time, but my furnace was working again (needed a thermocouple) by 10:05! HomeServe sent Total Plumbing out, and the first time they came, they didn't get it fixed. The guy tried to run the water a couple of minutes before he left. It was fine. After he left about an hour or two later, it clogged again. And I did call. He came the second time, and at the end of the following day, it was fixed. It was good for me because I've been in the system for about a year now. That was my first time using the service.

I look at the number and it says 24-hour service. I didn't know that it was just for the call, not for the service itself like to do a fix. For me, it was an emergency because that clogged up on Christmas eve. It was late in the evening. I called around 11:00 hoping that maybe the following day, they will fix it. They told me that they couldn't fix it until after the holidays, which is good, but to certain extent, it was not that helpful if we would wash on that day or throughout the holiday. The following day, we just improvised drainage and put something underneath the sink.

They were very efficient, very quick and cleaned up after themselves. I'm very pleased with the service we got from these two techs.

In the past Homeserve sent other technicians. And they left the door open. It also took seven hours for somebody to get back to me. I was at the point where if it comes time for renewal, I wouldn't renew. Now, because of the actions of these two gentlemen, I'll probably renew 'cause it's just about the same price if I went to Drain Doctor. I've been using Drain Doctor for years. And if I want somebody in a hurry, I'll call Drain Doctor and they are here within the hour. Last time, I used this particular company, they were here about eight hours later. But this time they came within the hour.

We were pleased with the first contract that we took out with Homeserve. We’ve taken two out since then and renewed. We’ve been satisfied with them up until this last episode. The guy from DrainGo was very unprofessional. He was the one sent out by Homeserve. My toilet had backed up into my shower as well as the floor on the bathroom downstairs. So, it was a mess, but I had already cleaned most of the worst of it up. He took one look at the shower and the drain. He said, “Your septic needs to be pumped” and walked away. He said, “I can’t do anything for you.” I told him, "As far as we know, we’ve not ever had a problem with our septic.”

I called Homeserve and let them know that the plumber walked away. He couldn't do a thing for us and that we need people. I called the office again and talked to one of the ladies there and she said, “We don’t deal with septic tanks. You need to call a septic service.” So that was what I did. I had Roto-Rooter come out and they worked for several hours and finally decided that it was a plug between the vent and the outlet and so all they did was roto-root, no disturbance of soil, and did the job that the plumber should have done to begin with.

I was so pleased with them that both of these workers got hugs from me with great thanks. Needless to say, I was so disappointed. I went ahead and paid them and I called back to Homeserve and let them know that I felt like since it was the same type of work that needed to be done that they’re covering me for, I needed to be reimbursed. Therefore, it’s kind of in limbo. They said it may be 30 days if it’s approved.

We have been very careful about everything that we have put in to our drain. We have a garbage disposal that we do not use, and we very seldom use our dishwasher. There’s just the two of us here most of the time, and it’s when we have company that we end up with a problem with too many people using the toilet at one time. The Roto-Rooter people came out and did the job that should have been done and it took over 24 hours for Homeserve to send the plumber to begin with. They could not find someone that they had under contract to come out here.

Here I am with a house full of company and a plugged toilet. I was thoroughly disappointed but I did talk with Homeserve four times in order to try to get things straightened out. And I’m a pretty patient person. They called me three times the day that I first called Homeserve. I called them in the morning. They called me back three times in the afternoon telling me that they were still searching for somebody that could come out. 9:00 at night comes and there was still no one there. Two of my sons left early so they would not have to contend with a backed up toilet. So it was disappointing. I don’t get to see them but three times a year and they had to leave. The reps were very polite and Homeserve did what they’re supposed to do. I have three contracts with them, and I have continued with those.

HomeServe's claims process has been good. They’ve been very accurate and their contractors come as fast as they could. One time, the electricity went at a part of my house. I checked everything and I couldn’t find from where it was coming. And the person from Rainbow Electric that came out was able to pinpoint the problem in a short time. It was one of the switch around the house that I hardly ever use and he fixed it. He was very kind and very professional.

Meanwhile, the mold started growing at door seal, reported them immediately, but no action on that part. They finished work and asked us to clean, we did but no use. I can't do anything about it, while they kept the washer open. They only say, it is not covered even it is the damage done by their contractor.

I have HomeServe for over 10 years now and submitting a claim has always been good. Recently, I submitted a claim for a leakage in one of the pipes in the basement. But I was annoyed this time because they didn’t cover the hot water pipes. So, they say they cover pipes but they don’t cover hot water pipes. I have to do it myself where I could pay a whole lot of money for someone to come and fix it. The technicians sent were okay though. They came here before. They gave me a number to call to see if I can get it done privately, and I called the number while they were here but nobody ever responded.

I've had HomeServe for about eight months. So far, their customer service has been fine whenever I submit a service request to them. Their response time has been good too when sending somebody out. However, the contractors that they use aren't the best. I've called contractors out multiple times for the same issue and they've not been able to resolve the problem. I ended up having to pay somebody outside out of pocket to get it fixed. I've only had plumbing issues. And originally, when I was calling, they only had one provider for my area. So, I was forced to deal with the same provider twice. And then, they finally got another plumber on board. So, they need more variety of contractors that they could utilize in the program.

I waited two months for a boiler tune up, which consisted of a gentlemen with a flashlight and brush. I explained that I was also experiencing a problem with my circulating pump, which, as I understood, was a covered repair. I waited for another week or so for the repairman to show up. Yes, the part was covered, but the flange was rusted and the Company didnt want to take a chance on breaking the boiler when they took it off. I assumed that the point of a warranty was to rectify the problem, assuming that it was a covered repair, which this was. I was wrong. I suggested that they simply install a new circulating pump on top of the boiler but below the circulating valves such that "dangerously" rusted flange would not be disturbed. Nope, that would be plumbing.

Now I may be a little slow, but there are a litany of covered repairs that necessarily involve some level of plumbing. What I did get however was a hard sell on a new boiler, and phone calls from Homeserve on when might be a convenient time for someone to speak to me about getting a new boiler. In sum: no repair, no satisfaction. They simply did not want to honor their contract. I am out the cost of the warranty, $300 to install a new circulating pump, and to make matters worse (if it is at all possible) the charged me, without my authorization, $335 for a warranty on a boiler which they have indicated they wont fix. My suggestion would be to seek out a more reliable and reputable firm. I would have given them 0 stars, however the stem doesn't allow me to submit without some rating.

Dear Homserve: i would just as soon that you not unduly trouble yourselves by writing me back in whatever public forum forum you choose to acknowledge my disappointment and tell me how customer satisfaction is paramount. You had your opportunity on three separate occasions. I will be happy to submit the bill which you should have covered in the first place or refund me 2019's cost of the warranty. In any event reverse out the unauthorized debit to my account.

What HomeServe had to offer made me decide to look into acquiring a service plan from them. The very first time, I had a bad experience because the job never got resolved. I had to pay out of pocket and I had canceled that service. On the second go-round, the job did not get done until two days later when it was supposed to get done that day. Nevertheless, the services were completed. The contractors were good, too.

This is long, but please read. In less than 2 weeks’ time I have had 4 service calls from HomeServe, waited at home for the 5th service call all day only to have no one show up or call to cancel, and today we still have no heat. I’ve had a HomeServe contract for years. 5 scheduled service calls later and we still have no heat. First appointment - I called them less than 2 weeks ago because my vents were only blowing cold air and not heat. The tech came and said it was because the air filter needed to be changed. We took out the filter and the heat was working, so we thought problem was solved. Second appointment - Later that night the heat stopped working again. We called and weren’t able to get anyone in for 2 days due to a backload on their end. 2 days later, with no heat in NYC, the service man comes and says we need a new control panel. New one was installed and heat was working.

Third appointment - A short while later the heat stopped turning over and blowing air all together. Another call to HomeServe brought about our 3rd service call the next day, by the same guy who installed the panel the day before. He checked the unit and apologized, saying that he “pulled too hard” on the pressure hose while changing the panel and that’s why the furnace wouldn’t heat. He changed the pressure valve, tightened the connection and the heat started working. It worked for a couple of days.

Fourth and fifth appointment - Lo and behold the heat once again stopped working altogether. Another call to HomeServe to schedule our FOURTH service call in just over a week brought another service person a day later, who after checking the unit informed us that the last guy installed the wrong pressure valve which resulted in the heater not working. He ordered a new valve and said it would be in later that night or the next morning (which would have been yesterday) and that we’d get a call to have it installed. Yesterday after multiple calls to HomeServe explaining how we’ve had multiple 20 and 30 degree days and nights with no heat, that our problem was the result of negligence on the part of HomeServe technicians, we finally got a same day repair call and they were supposed to be here between 12-8pm. No one showed. No one called to postpone.

I called and was on the phone with HomeServe last night for about an hour. Talked to the call center rep. Talked with a supervisor. No one was able to help get someone to my home and we spent another night in our home with no heat. We waited home and missed work for 5 days in barely 2 weeks and have no heat. No one from HomeServe has done anything to rectify this except to keep scheduling appointments. I have never experienced such poor service, such uncaring “professionals,” such incompetency on the part of a company that I pay a service contract for. Very disappointed and I would definitely not recommend HomeServe to anyone after my most recent experience.

It seems HomeServe never cancelled then moved policy to rental address on their own. At 11:30 the repair person called me to tell me they could not fix my heat until Wednesday which was totally unacceptable. So I called back to let HomeServe know that Wednesday was unacceptable so they started searching for another repair person.

In the meantime we called our OWN repair person and they came out within 30 minutes figured out what the problem was and was ready to fix it but they didn't have a contract with HOMESERVE. So we could have had heat around 1:30 that afternoon but NO we had to wait until one of their repair people was available which was NOT until WEDNESDAY. They had NO OTHER repair people who had supplies on hand but yet they are supposed to be the HOME WARRANTY people that fix stuff when they break! Mind you, my experience with Homeserve has been mostly good. I've had two covered plumbing repairs on my inside plumbing policy, and both times a plumber came promptly, fixed the problem, and charged me nothing for the service (I had to pay for a part, but that is fair). My issue is with my Heating System warranty - and honestly, the problem arose from me not reading the correct paragraph of fine print. I had read on their website that if a unit was deemed non-repairable, they would contribute up to the yearly repair benefit to the replacement. This turns out not to be true. That is true in their appliance policy, but not in the heating policy.

Subsequent reading of the fine print was a little ambiguous, but it does not promise anything toward full replacement. They did say they would offer me a pro-rated refund of my premium back to the time I bought the policy and this turned out not to be true. When I followed up on this offer, what they actually offered me was a portion of the current month's premium in refund - $6.99. I'm on the hook for the full replacement cost of my furnace - which if I'd read my whole policy, I would have known. So now you know.

HomeServe is the best. An excellent technician came and found that the furnace was fine, it just blew a fuse. He replaced it and I have heat! I appreciate his expertise and his honesty. The previous day I had called a local plumber who charged me $85 for a service call fee + $375 for "diagnosing the problem". He said it needed a new electrode and it would cost $1,400 (that's without pricing the part). I thought the service call fee should be part of giving me an estimate and didn't trust him. He left without reassembling the furnace, leaving the metal panels on the floor like a piece of junk. I was very glad to call HomeServe. Kenny was very professional and reliable. He found the circuit breaker had flipped. Then he found the problem and restored my heat in minutes. I would never call anyone else now. Thank you, HomeServe!

After my earlier review which was highly critical of Home Serve’s unsatisfactory response to the failure of my hot water heater, I was proactively contacted by the company and reached a satisfactory resolve of my complaint. I applaud HomeServe for their concern and action which resulted in a goodwill settlement. As a result, I reconsidered my cancellation of the coverage I held with HomeServe. I encourage readers to ensure they are familiar with the specific terms of any warranty contract they become party to.

    Original Review: Oct. 30, 2019

I had been a paying customer of Home Serve for over two years and called for service due to a leaking hot water heater. I waited two days for the service visit only to find out Home Serve only offer "repair" services for hot water heaters, not replacement. In my experience most all hot water heater problems are caused because the tank is leaking and cannot be repaired. So, I had no coverage and had to pay my plumber nearly $800 to replace the heater. Ironically, Home Serve shows a leaking hot water heater in their advertising material which is grossly misleading. When I called to cancel I was told that it was my fault that I did not fully read the coverage contract. And, while that is true, most people do not read the fine print when the pictures present a far different impression showing the prevalent problem which IS NOT COVERED. Stay away from this huckster firm.

Beware! Do not join HomeServe utility insurance in Virginia and neighboring states nor use Clean Air technologies out of Richmond, Ava. Homeserve was originally with Dominion Energy. I received excellent service from dominion energy insurance on all of my plans. Homeserve is totally different. Stay away from them. All you have to do is read the most recent reviews to see how dissatisfied the customers are.

I have low water pressure in the masterbath toilet and sink. The first 2 "Plumbers" from clean air technologies said it was debris that had built up on the pipes and it was gone after they flushed the toilet. However, the low pressure and gurgling noises remained so I called homeserve who sent a 2nd "Plumber." he was 1 1/2 hours late; double parked in the street; carried no tools; and was there for one minutes. He said something about having to check the pipes but left with the toilet still not working correctly.

When I called homeserve to complain that it was obvious he was not going to repair the low pressure issue, they said my claim was being denied because the problem was within the toilet (a valve) which was not covered by the plan. Neither of the two groups of "Plumbers" really assessed the issue and neither came up with the same resolution to the problem. Additionally, if there is low water pressure with the hot and cold water in the sink, how is this controlled by a valve in the toilet?

It is obvious from my experience as well as others this company is a scam. When I initially called homeserve to see who is on their list of plumbers, I was given two names of companies, neither of which I had ever heard. Previously when dominion had the program, the companies were well-known and reliable companies in the Richmond area. When talking to the manager of homeserve, he could not provide me with a resolution no matter how much I tried to clarify the misinformation he had. Run away from any emails you may get asking for your subscription. Right now I get a letter a week asking to join their water heater plan. Throw this junk away!!!

I have been a member of this program for at least 6 years. That's about $6,000 of payments made for the various plans I have. As someone else states, put this money in a savings account rather than wasting it with this horrible utility insurance company and pretend-to-be-plumbing company, clean air technologies of Richmond.

As soon as 811 marked the ground for digging (which took a week) the plumbers were back the next business day. Initially Homeserve was told I would owe $550 but when I told the rep no way did the plumbers need to do inside work they called the plumbers for me and cleared up the issue. Homeserve called back to confirm no out of pocket costs and told me I was good to go. The plumbers replaced my entire line that day and now we are all back to working order without one dollar out of pocket cost.

This was a very easy process with Homeserve and I do recommend them to my neighbors despite being told that normally these types of companies will only put "bandaids" on these leaks even though once a line is moved it tends to leak again and again and should just be replaced. When they arrived they were quick to assess the damage and get started on the job. It started to pour down rain on these guys and they still worked through it. They put up a brand new power pole & installed the service on our Mobile Home instead of another wood pole in the yard. They ran a new wire electrical line under our MH & grounded it to make sure it was up to code and did this all in the same day. The job was almost completed in the same day but due to the inspector not coming out that night we didn't get power until the next day.

The next day Coe Electric came back out and fixed our aeration system, it had to be re-wired. All this was done with great efficiency & great customer service! I didn't have to pay anything, it was all covered under my exterior line coverage through HomeServe! It is definitely worth the money!!
