I wouldn't recommend using HomeAdvisor for servicing properties or any other services relating to home needs. Pros: It is like a one stop shop when your information is shared to all contractors for services. Cons: Most of the contractors in HomeAdvisor are newly in business or aren't license to operate in that field. They are just marketing themselves. I was able to speak with a HomeAdvisor customer support and was advised that HomeAdvisor does not do a thorough background check on the contractors or requests proof if the contractors have licenses or certificate unless it is State require. Most contractors charge you upon the day of appointment. Which is terrible because they should have inform the customer of any related fees upfront. In the future, I prefer speaking with an actual company for my home services.

I have never worked with anything like HomeAdvisor before and found their service to be logically arranged, easy to use, and very effective. They had several vendors to select from and I chose one that turned out to be excellent.

I contacted HomeAdvisor for an electrical problem I've been having for years. Again, not a week but minimum since 2017. When the electrician came he told me right away, "You need new amperage." I was shocked because when Baldwin Electric did my wiring - they took the cheapest way out!

This vent installation was a good experience so far. Just got installed. Have not used yet. Will try use HomeAdvisor again. However easy to use. No cost. Online business communication. Will see for next project if I can use HomeAdvisor again.

The roof leaked in several places. Chose three companies from HomeAdvisor's recommended list of roof repair specialist. Ultimately decided to go with CNR Roofing who gave me an estimate that was reasonable. They performed the work in a timely manner. The team was courteous, friendly and kept me informed every step of the way.

Drywall Repair - Within a few hours of my first contact with HomeAdvisor I was contacted by three contractors. Very fast response. I will be using this service again for any future work. This was my first use of HomeAdvisor, very easy to use.

I contacted HomeAdvisor through the web and within 5 minutes was given the number of a contractor to install gutter guards. I had quotes from other contractors but the contractor through HomeAdvisor had best price and preferred material.

This was an easy and quick experience with the Home Advisor app and Ultimate Home Theater. I simply requested a quote to install two TV wall mounts and I received an email that day from Ultimate Home Theater. Email communication was thorough and efficient and my TV's were installed a week later. I'm thrilled!

Spa heater repair - Company responded to my online request immediately and scheduled the repair for the next day. Repairman was very flexible, and diagnosed the problem and replaced a part without needing to replace the entire heating element. Great service and fair price.

Home Advisor was a great assistance helping us find a competent and affordable plumber. We would highly recommend this service. We had multiple issues that needed to be solved around the house from leaking faucets to an old toilet that needed another flush kit installed, and a toilet that was rocking. All problems were solved and we found ourselves a plumber we could trust, thanks to Home Advisor.

Hello, Very rarely do I complain about anything. I have tried to speak with your customer service teams several times in order to get issues resolved and we continued to have problems. We are a new business that just started and looked to your company to provide us leads. Right now we are going to have to shut down the doors due to the excessive overcharges and misleading business practices on part of HomeAdvisor. The understanding when we signed up with your business development person was very simple. We would be sent leads that only directly relate to our product or service. If we found leads not valid that we would be credited. Our Cap was $1000 a month.

Demoed carpet, picked up vinyl planking from Lumber Liquidators and trim, installed and removed old plus clean up completely. Were on time each day, communicated throughout the day, removed demoed carpet and did a complete cleanup and walk through!

All very positive. Response and follow up was timely and allowed me to schedule and finish my project in a very short amount of time. Several selections were offered to me and I was very happy with the selection I made. I will use Home Advisor again.

I used HomeAdvisor since I bought a home for all repairs and maintenance. Good part is you get paid for using reliable workmanship info. Most of them you can ask quote. You can also find reliable contractors. I would recommend this site to find reliable contractors.

Home Advisor is a very good source for all types of vendors that homeowners sometimes require. I received the names of four vendors that were qualified to do the work I needed. Each gave me an estimate to do the work. Each vendor was polite and professional. The vendor I chose did an excellent job. In conclusion I would recommend using HomeAdvisor as source for your needs.

Called, one day and all the work was done within two days. Three jobs all completed. Chimney work, two doors (fire rated) replaced and Masonry work on stairs with railing repair. Didn't but should have had the electrical work also done (gfic plugs).

The customer service was great! And they expedited service really great! I called them out on a Sunday in desperation because of a crab apple tree in my yard that completely made a mess of my house and driveway because of its location. I would definitely use and recommend this service again.

We had 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, den, closets and Florida room cleaned. We had the rooms vacuumed and the windows washed inside, the baseboards, fans and closets were cleaned. In the kitchen, counters cleaned, as were the shelves in the bedrooms, living room and other rooms.

The agent was courteous and interested in finding a fitting business to my need. The first I chose was not taking new business in the time I needed, so she connected me with another top quality local business, making sure my criteria was met. I was impressed the business knew I was connected through Home Advisor.

Showed up when they said they would. Work quickly and did a great job. So pleased with the work done. Can't wait to have them back in the Spring. Did just clean up of the yard for winter. Feel that anyone won't go wrong with hiring Fresh Cut Mowing.

Contractors have always been fair priced and have promptly arrived at work as scheduled. The ease at which I can find a variety of contractors saves time and money. One click and I get a call.

Thanks Home Advisor for showing me different options for services. I was able to find tree services plus other types. I did ask for my number not to be sent out for roof cleaning but it was anyway. I didn't appreciate that.

Electrical/Plumbing Issues - Install ground rod and hard pipe gas line into heater in attic. They were on time and very professional. No issues to report and completed the job within one hour. I will use them in the future for all needed services.

Residential furnace duct cleaning - COIT was one of the companies recommended by HomeAdvisor and they were wonderful, responsive, fair, held to their pricing and stayed till the job was done right. HomeAdvisor contacted me to ensure some of the companies they recommended got back with me and that I was satisfied with HomeAdvisor's services so far which was yes. I have done 3 home projects using their advice.

We got a few whiffs of gas. Instead of calling the gas company, which we would have if we thought it was an emergency, we contacted Home Advisor. Within 5 minutes we had 3 contractors to choose from. Within 15 minutes we chose a contractor and within 3 hours the contractor had the problem solved for a very reasonable price.

There are a lot of emails as a result of my contacting HomeAdvisor. More than I care for. This was a positive experience as far as the work goes, and easier than having to individually contact multiple service companies.

Raffa Group came thru Home Advisor, they had the best price and the job (new fence) was completed in reasonable time and with good quality. Two small problems were corrected within two day to my satisfaction. The owner kept me informed of all updates during the period that the city was issuing the permits.

I found contractor who did a great job for us. I was very unhappy with the HomeAdvisor website because I could not see any reviews beyond the first 10. I called HomeAdvisor and was told they were working on the problem and it would be fixed soon - but it wasn't!

A large, local HVAC contractor had come by to tune-up our old furnace. We did not realize that the furnace was venting excessive amounts of CO. We had no CO in the house. The furnace was 25 years old so we decided to replace it. I went on Home Advisor to search for a contractor to do this job. We are extremely satisfed with our experience.

Alban and his worker were always polite, punctual and their work was very good. He finished on schedule and while here he addressed any concerns I had and I am very pleased with his work. His work on a difficult ceiling crack is very impressive, I would recommend him.

HomeAdvisor does NOT post every review of companies they promote. I wrote a review of a Healthy Happy Homes which was never posted. I inquired why it was not posted and they stated they have the right to not post certain reviews. My review was very fair and listed only the facts. They stated it would not be posted, but they would watch for additional reviews of the company to decide if they would continue to keep them as part of their services they promote. I just want people who use HomeAdvisor to be aware that not all NEGATIVE reviews are posted by them, which makes me inclined to not use their services. This filtering does those who trust HomeAdvisor for their honesty a real disservice.

After trying to do my OWN vetting of a contractor and eventually hiring them. We found we got severely burned by this person. Who can you trust? How do you find a professional that you know you can trust? I tried HomeAdvisor, took a chance and yes, they take 90% of the fear of finding a professional away... if you need anything done around the house, this is the place to go - period!

Very thorough. Our garbage disposal, hot water dispenser and dishwasher had stopped working. We thought we had found the correct circuit breaker. Tom and Jerry traced the electrical problem to another source and corrected it in a timely manner. All appliances are now working properly.

Happy with the speed and workmanship. The company removed and disposed my older heat pump and installed within 6 hours a brand new 4 ton split heat pump Trane. One new thermostat, great warranty parts 10 years and labor 3 years. They cosmetically repaired the access to the attic. I would recommend this company warmly.

I signed up for this. $300 just to join. They send you so many leads, all of them cost you money. Zero of these leads turned into customers. I lost almost a thousand dollars in a month with these people. The leads are so bad they even give refunds for many of these leads. Our company cleans houses. There is no way to profit from a $50 job if it cost $20-$40 just to get the lead. These sales person on the phone will lie and say the leads are cheaper than they really are. Please just research HomeAdvisor scam in google and you will see millions of complaints. Really worried about the integrity of this website and the BBB. Somehow they don't see all the 1 star reviews. If HomeAdvisor was on eBay or Amazon they would have been permanently banned a long time ago. Run and don't look back people.

Needed plumber for bathroom sink leak. Late in afternoon, it took me 3 minutes on HomeAdvisor from start of request to getting connected to Plumbing Doctors representative. I was able to schedule appt for next morning. Highly recommend HomeAdvisor.com!! Also highly impressed with Plumbing Doctors.

I paid a membership to this company: HomeAdvisor Pro. I notice that if you open a lid to see it, they charged you. I decided to call them and cancelled my membership, also I sent them an email. They keep sending email after cancellation and I open one email from them and immediately they charged $115.00 to my account. I called them again and asked them about charges after cancellation and they refused to refund my funds. Just be careful people.

Needed gutter replaced on back section of house, all gutters cleaned out, and leaf guards installed. They came out promptly, gave me a recommendation on work needed and a quote. Came back when they said and finished work in a day and a half. Very pleased with work, professional attitude, and price.

I could not find anyone to pressure wash my home within the time needed. I entered my information into HomeAdvisor and within seconds, I had a match. The company called right away, did a fantastic job. I will use Home Advisor again.

I use HomeAdvisor frequently and I think they are a great service. Easy to use and generally it allows you to find a contractor very quickly. I have used to find service pros for septic systems and other related plumbing contractors. Will use again to search for contractors.

HomeAdvisor sales bids that were already closed out by other competitors so in other words they will sell you a bid that another contractor already won a bid closed out and collected on the job. When I called them out on this they said it was a technical error in their computer system which I believe is a lie. They also pulled $287 out of my checking account for annual renewal after I already closed and cancelled my subscription with them with verified confirmation number. I plan on taking them to court and suing them for taking money out of my account after I already closed my HomeAdvisor subscription due to the unethical bids they would sell multiple times after they were closed out. Be warned. Do not mess with HomeAdvisor. They are a crooked company. They just want your money and they charge you for all kinds of ridiculous things. Sincerely ** HomeAdvisor.

I used the site to locate information/pricing on getting our hot water heater replaced quickly. The site was quite simple to use and informative though at the conclusion of entering info, it said only one company was available but I subsequently received two additional calls; one of which I hired for the job. Satisfied but a bit of communication that was unexpected.

Hakim ** is a very honest man, good at what he does. I like that about him. He is not a handyman. He will not take any other jobs even if you offer to him. For window repair or replacement he is the one.

Evaluation of performed work: Water pressure issue - The subject issue was solved in professional, effective and timely manner. However, the cost seemed a bit excessive for the complexity of the project. The technician was very knowledgeable, courteous, and kind. The workmanship was excellent. Started using HomeAdvisor for three large projects at my house. When I started They said I would get 50.00 after third project. I called after third one and they said they stopped that. I could not believe what I heard. After spending over 11000 dollars a big company like HomeAdvisor could not give me 50.00 when they charge 40% to companies that use them. I recommend that no one should use them.

They repaired 6 rusted wrought iron posts (14 yrs old) and sealed the bottom of the entire rear yard fence with 6" wide steel sheet along the bottom to keep rabbits from entering and eating my plants and chewing my rubber water lines (yes, I'm serious). They did this more than once, causing water to shoot straight up.

This company's services are really poor. ZERO quality control. As a contractor that relies on Home Advisor for leads, I watch them squeeze THOUSANDS of dollars out of our accounts every month. We provide painting services and we spend more on your "leads" than on paint! Something seems wrong with that. Home Advisor has monopolized the market, and what was once a great service, is now nothing more than a necessary evil, a means to an end. We're keeping an eye out on the class action case against Home Advisor.

Repair deck remove and replace deck posts and beams. Stucco posts and paint all repairs surfaces. Upgrade deck post bases and hold downs. Add bolts to deck ledger and tension bolts. Install new post flashings to prevent water damage forever.

Royal and his crew were really terrific. On time, efficient, careful and made sure everything was in its place including some rearranging. As furniture came in, I handed them sliders for the feet and they were patient with me and put them on everything as I requested. One snag which was front office, not the crew, was that some of my belongings were in storage (typical storage unit layout) which I told the front office multiple times. They sent a 26' truck which could not maneuver in the storage facility. Royal took care of it and came back the next day with a smaller truck for the items in storage. However, that cost me an extra day and an additional $980 (estimated). I recommend them just make sure that the front office really understands your move requirements so that they send the appropriate crew and equipment.

My co-worker has used HomeAdvisor before for other repairs and she never had any complains so I decided to use them as well for kitchen sink repair. Great choice, they found a company super fast with great service. I will use them again for sure!

As a business owner the cost of HomeAdvisor is NOT positive! Every "lead email" whether it is something you're interested in or not is being charged to your business account. My experience has been Home Advisor has charged me inappropriately with leads, and have marked leads as if I had responded to prospective clients as though I were interested. I have a number of complaints with their "customer service" AND "paused leads" and they still sent me email leads which they charged me for. Finally I sent both an email and called Customer Service to discontinue ALL leads AND Close my account. It took me five days to get anyone to respond. They still owe me money they deducted from my business account without providing one positive customer lead. Beware business owner for what you're signing up for! NOT good.

I was impressed with the quick response to my inquiry in trying to find an experienced repairman who could do a wide variety of tasks. HomeAdvisor is a wonderful resource and I will certainly use them again if needed.

I have contracted several pros for different jobs (plumbing, carpet cleaning, awning, sprinklers, etc.) They have all been punctual, reasonably priced, professional and pleasant. I will continue to use Home Advisor for all my repair and install needs. The confidence of having references verified is reassuring.

So I paid 350$ to join them as a pro roofer and immediately got 2 leads which costed over $160$. NEITHER customer even so much as acknowledged the countless phone calls, texts, and emails I sent to them. ALSO- one request was for a SLATE roof from an address where the property would more than likely be less expensive than the SLATE roof cost. Also they denied given me a refund on my initiation fee because they claimed I didn’t do it within 72 hours. But you can’t request a refund on the leads until you’ve tried to reach the customers a number of days in a row which pushed me past the refund period.

Very happy with Green Valley Carpet Cleaner referred to me through HomeAdvisor. He was professional, trustworthy, and flexible. David did a great job. I would have him back and will refer to my friends. I will use homeadvisor again to look for contractors in the future. This was my first time.

HomeAdvisor listed many professional plumbers that could accomplish our project (Water Heater Replacement). We had excellent results with the first plumber contacted and at a reasonable price. The cost of the project was far less than had been estimated by "chain" hardware stores and was very efficiently accomplished.

Broken spring - Good customer service, was on time, finish fast, showed me his work and what he did. I was all around please. He also called me soon as I put request 2-3 min tops. He scheduled me the same day was about 30 min out got here on time or maybe a little sooner which was fine with me.

Was really impressed with his friendly demeanor and taking ownership of the issue to get it fixed same day. Also no pushy sales tactics for additional services or hardware.

I had the bottom weather strip on my garage door replaced. The serviceman also adjusted the garage door and automatic door opener. I no longer see any daylight under the garage door. However until it rains, I will not be able to see how effective the repair was.

Started out ok. Told me I needed 5 gal. of paint for 2 areas. Did not use even 2 gallons. Was told they would replace furnace registers with new ones but just spray painted my old vents. These people are not honest. Did a half way job. I'M sorry I will never use HomeAdvisor again. Made a hole in my carpet the size of a quarter. Never cleaned paint off rug or fireplace bricks. Beware of these people.

I own a professional IT services company in Santa Rosa California. I was contacted by a salesperson from HomeAdvisor and was told that he had several companies in my area that were in need of service. He said that he would give me these leads once I had signed up for the service. I did sign up for the service and in 30 days I received two leads that were more than a hundred miles out of my area. I received a bill from HomeAdvisor for these leads even though I had denied them due to distance.

Used HomeAdvisor to find a glass company that offered a replacement service. They found me one and they we great. They called me a few minutes later and asked what I needed and they came right over. The other glass companies were booked and this one came right over.

My Venice, Fl. condo tested high for radon gas (22.1). I went to HomeAdvisor to find a radon mitigator. They listed 5 companies. 2 of the listed companies said there is no radon in Florida, the other 3 did nothing connected to radon gas. I could probably list myself as a radon mitigator and no one know that I was a retiree.

I was having a difficult time hiring a residential electrician, and when the visiting sister stumbled upon a HomeAdvisor website, not really know what to expect as a first time user, to my surprise, a month long problem got fixed in 1 hr. Definitely, will recommend to a friend who is looking to have his house rewiring due to a house fire.

Shutter repair - We were told about this service and decided to give it a try. We were very pleased with results. We were very happy with the company, Oasis Shutters, that they recommended. Communication was excellent. We were able to choose our date and what was convenient for us.

Another good experience using HomeAdvisor to locate a pre-screened and well-reviewed service provider. We have used Home Advisor to find providers for power washing services, brick sealing, plumbing services, and gutter installation among other things and have been happy with the quality of the providers to whom we have been referred. We will definitely continue to use Home Advisor in the future.

I hired a contractor from HomeAdvisor to repair my fence. The contractor ended up being an unlicensed, convicted criminal that was on probation. He stole my deposit and never performed any work. He used a fraudulent name and it took nine months to find him. Once law enforcement found him, we found out that he was working under several company names on HomeAdvisor committing fraud in 3 different cities. HomeAdvisor is NOT a trusted source. They do not check for proper licensing or background checks. Their ads are misleading and they are enabling and facilitating criminals on their site.

When I contacted HomeAdvisor for the first time, I wasn't aware of how their system worked. I didn't know that every company contacted had to pay a fee even if they were not chosen and that fee was passed on to the customer. So I was paying more for services than I normally would. Granted, I am paying for their experts in their fields but I would choose an alternate route next time. The company is run well and they are helpful and friendly to work with but I don't like their policies.

Some communication issues early on, and not sure how they came about. After connecting with vendor I ultimately chose to use, I got repeated calls from him, as it appeared that my ticket was still open. Technician installed recessed lighting in my kitchen. He also installed new switches so that we could dim the lights. He did make several trips to the local Home Depot to purchase additional materials to complete the work. He arrived on time and completed the work within the time frame he said he would have it done. He cleaned up well after completing the work and said if we experience any problems to contact him. He left us a copy of the receipt and his business card.

It would be better if HomeAdvisor did not act as the intermediary in setting up jobs. Give us your recommendations and let us contact the contractors directly to avoid these delays and confusions.

In this case they offered recommendations for replacement windows and skylights. We have used HomeAdvisor for locating home repair and/or installation projects and always appreciated a rated guide to professional service.

We got referrals through Angie's List/HomeAdvisor of contractors to do a bathroom addition. The contractor we hired had 4+ star ratings and reviews on HomeAdvisor. Well into the project, which was problematic because of multiple workmanship defects, we learned that the company had dissolved 4 months prior to contracting with us and, therefore, their license was invalid. The contractor never disclosed this fact to us. We also learned that the crew working on our project were unlicensed and that there was no licensed professional supervising them. When I tried to post a review on HomeAdvisor, with the hope that others would not be victim to this scam, HomeAdvisor would not post my review because their policy is not to post any reviews that refer to illegal activity. I would not trust HomeAdvisor's screening of contractors, or the ratings and reviews posted.

We are very pleased with the fast reply to hire someone. We had a company resurface our pool and they did not tell us what do after pool was finished. Gary fixed the problem today and that will be ongoing until he finishes with it. Very impressed using Home Advisor and we were able to hire right on the spot and will have him for our pool maintenance person.

HomeAdvisor is a pretty worthless resource for consumers - except maybe to read what others say about project professionals they have used. And you can find those in lots of other places too. The "matching" is rather poor. They totally dropped one of my projects from my account, which caused me to fall short of the $50 reward. When I raised the concern, they said they stopped the reward program.

Furnace repair - HomeAdvisor led me to a great HVAC company! The tech we had from Living Comfort was great. HomeAdvisor was simple to use and I received a reply from Living Comfort HVAC very quickly. I like having the email option of receiving an email response.

I would have wholeheartedly told everyone who owns a business and needs leads to use HomeAdvisor two years ago. But, unfortunately, they have lost what matters most and care more about making money than they do in actually giving good leads. Out of the last 100 leads, I have received I called 100% of them and 90% of them within the first 3 minutes of getting the lead. I only won a handful of jobs, but when I won a job other companies who were bitter to losing gave the client a bid that was unreasonable so I would then lose the job due to not wanting to take a job for such an unreasonable amount or would have to take the job and make almost nothing on it. Then there are the other leads... No one would answer after multiple phone calls, emails, messages on HomeAdvisor, etc. So I would reach out to HomeAdvisor and let them know it was a bad lead -- they would respond, "Tough luck."

I needed a new roof for my home and HomeAdvisor recommended 2 local roofing contractors. One called me the 1st day and we set an appointment. He did not show up so I called him that afternoon and he said he was up on a roof and meant to call me but forgot. He said he would call back after he finished up on the roof. He never called back. Needless to say I didn't call him either. The 2nd contractor never called at all. A friend recommended a roofer and he did a great job for me. Too bad HomeAdvisor didn't.

As a professional I must say my experience with HomeAdvisor has not been very pleasant. The most frustrating part is that the leads on my account were supposed to be turned off, then I had to contact HomeAdvisor multiple times to credit my account for bogus leads. "Bogus" I mean leads for services not in my area or for services I do not provide. I was charged just because they decided to send a so called lead just because someone is surfing the web and ask a question about a service. It does not appear these leads are screened. The charge for the lead is completely at their discretion no matter if the lead get the professional services or not.

Twice in the last week the company has called claiming that they are returning a phone call from "the business owner." As I am the one who would make such a call, I know that this is untrue. They couldn't tell me anything about the alleged message, just that they "got the number" off the message. Couldn't even say if it was a male or a female. I don't trust this company and will not have my company affiliated with people who lie.

Plumbing work was especially excellent; leak repair included replacement of valve for irrigation supply line. Old PVC piping dogleg replaced with elegant plumbing solution that minimizes piping exposed to elements.

Have used H.A. for roof repair, siding, fencing and tree service lately. Have used them before in another state for extensive remodeling of an older house. Fair estimates on all. Completely happy and will continue to use HA and will recommend.

Easier than going through the yellow pages or asking a friend of a friend without previous experience, to recommend for a project of this size. I got 2 referrals: Senor Fix It and Sears. A Sears rep came out and pretty much acted like it wasn't what he wanted to do. Don't know if he was the actual guy going to do the work, but he was in and out in less than 5 minutes. Frank, Senor Fix It, was much more friendly and listened to what I wanted done.

Home HVAC - Heat and fan was inop. Found due to improper periodic maintenance we were overheating the furnace causing it to shut itself down. I went on HomeAdvisor and completed the request online. Within 60 seconds I had a call from a qualified business ready to send a tech to my location.

I was expecting to just have air ducts cleaned and sanitized, but when they started cleaning, they found mold on some of the vents. I had to have Milicide sprayed thru the system after the cleaning to kill mold, a soot sealer, and then a fogging sprayed thru the system to kill all spores in the house.

I usually have a difficult time finding companies willing to do small jobs, but April's Gardens took the time to come and see the job, gave me an estimate. Once I decided to hire them, they follow through with the dates we had decided to do and complete the work. Nothing better than working with serious professionals that know how to complete good quality work within the time initially promised.
