Never purchase a Generac generator. They have zero oversight and will allow their dealers to steal your deposit. I hired ACH electric out of Lambertville NJ to do my job. Gave him 9k in December of 23. Kept calling every two weeks. Told I’m next in line. Family had a life changing event in March of 2024. Called to cancel job which he had dragged out. Said it would be a few weeks to get me my money back. No harm no foul. Next customer gets the generator. Reach out several more times till he tells me there is a no refund policy. He screwed me out of 9k. Reach out to generac to complain and they tell me it’s out their hands. So generac is ok with their dealers sticking customers for deposits. I’m thinking about suing federal and ACH Electric. Don't buy Generac products.

Installed in 2013. Maintenance of $160 per year. Used for a total of 130 hours since then. This includes recently, when my local utility went down for 3+ days in the heat. The unit ran fine for 15 hours, then quit. I got an emergency repair ($1000+) and it ran another 15 hours and quit. Now it needs about a $1200 repair of the generator system. So there you have it, 130 hours and the electrical l system is worn out. It is useful for some short term convenience, but never again will my family have security in owning a Generac.

New generator install by FA Electric. Dropped off and pad mounted one day, installed in one full day after propane hooked up. Competitive pricing. Very knowledgeable and detail-oriented during estimate and install. Checked heat pump specs to make sure generator model was adequate. Inside panel work, transfer box, and load sheds very neat and orderly. Highly recommend.

I have purchased and installed 3 whole house generators in 3 houses. 2 Kohlers and 1 Generac. The Kohlers were very reliable and service was excellent. The Generac is at best mediocre in reliability and local service is terrible. I called for warranty repair. The service tech came to the house, declared nothing wrong and left then they sent me a bill for $200. 2 weeks later the engine failed in the same way. I called and they said they would not fix it unless I agreed to pay for it because I installed the gas regulator too close to the engine. In reviewing the installation guidelines, there is no spec on that. Do not buy Generac!

We have purchase a whole house system because we are on oxygen and have b-paps and c-paps for sleeping. We have had it installed for over 4 years and it never has come on in emergency. It tests fine once a week. I have now felt this is one of the worst investments ever and would never do this again. We have had service, but they have yet to find a solution. They are just waiting for the warranty to run out. This is not and reputable American company. Their claims are false and need to be removed from service. Some clients need this protection to work for health reasons.

This is my 4th Generac generator I have had installed by various Generac authorized dealers. All of the installers have been knowledgeable and professional. My latest purchase showed how horrible Generac support for their dealers and customers really is. Once installed and start up took place within 3 minutes there were horrible noises coming from it and my technician shut it down immediately. After a tear down by my installer to find out the cause it became apparent that the generator had been assembled incorrectly in the magneto area. Once new parts arrived and installed it also became apparent that there was more damage done by the start up in the flywheel area.
Next Generac would not replace the unit for my dealer… He was honorable and decided to do that on his own. They insisted on keeping the start date of the faulty unit as of original start update… Also Generac makes dealers pay for their units in full on start up… You guessed it.. Now my dealer had to pay for 2 of them even though the first one was worthless. If Generac can’t supply better support for their dealers/consumers I’d consider Kohler or some other brand.

We had an authorized dealer install a Generac Solar System complete with a backup storage system less than two years ago. It has the attached remote viewing system so that Generac can check on it at any time. We built the new heated shed to house the battery backup. The installation company has gone out of business. The backup system went down last November. We have made numerous calls and emails to Generac customer service. They say they have not been able to locate any service personnel to work on it. I called the nearest company I could find which services Generac, but they don't do warranty work. We are making payments higher than any benefit we have received from the solar panel working alone without the backup system. Our Generac system has been nothing but a money pit to us.

When you purchase your Generac generator, that is just the beginning of your costs. Then it suggested you buy a maintenance contract which will cost at least $395 per year. Otherwise all warranty calls come with a diagnostic fee to get someone out to check/fix the problem. The Generators come Wi-Fi equipped, but the free Wi-Fi app from Generac does very little except receiving countless push notifications. [You can’t even crank the generator using the “free” app]. You’re invited to upgrade the app for another fee per year to make your Wi-Fi fully functional.

I have a Generac micro inverter system. My installer replaced a unit under warranty. When he contacted support to have it provisioned, they may have provisioned it incorrectly, two days later the unit was no longer showing any voltage. He opened a support ticket but no one from Generac would reply. To help get support I called the number on the case. After being transferred a few times I was unable to to get support. I asked them to formally escalate the lack of support but they refused. Despite a warranty replacement of a Generac micro inverter unit and subsequent failure, I have received no support from Generac. The installer believes the replacement unit was incorrectly provisioned, leading to a zero-voltage state. Both the installer's support ticket and my direct calls have been ignored. Generac has also refused my request for formal escalation of this issue. Terrible after sales support!

Our Generac Home Generator is 3 years old. I purchased the generator with a 7-year warranty. Two weeks ago, I noticed that the indicator light was red, so I called the dealer (after 5 PM on Friday), got a recording, and left a message to call me on Monday. I waited until noon and no call. I called the dealer, and they said that they would have a technician out the next day. The tech arrived and diagnosed the problem and was gone in less than 30 minutes.
The company tried to sell me a wi-fi system so they could diagnose the problem from the office. They wanted 49.00 per year for this service which should be included with the warranty. Today I received a bill for 230 dollars for that service call. I called the company and they told me the problem was not covered by the warranty. When you buy a total coverage warranty for your generator, it should cover everything not just specific parts. Each part of the generator and the system has a different degree of warranty, ie. 7 yrs 5 yrs, 3 yrs. When you buy the generator and system the salesperson does not tell you all the details. They just say there is a 7-year warranty. That is very misleading. I am going to pay the bill but I am not very happy with the misrepresentation by the company about their warranty.

The motor stopped working correctly on our 14KW Generac Generator. Fortunately, it was covered under warranty. MS Solar ordered the replacement motor at the end of Oct 2024. At the end of Dec 2024, we still had no probable delivery date on the motor. I had to repeatedly call MS Solar during Nov and Dec to inquire as to the status of the replacement motor. They did no follow-up on their own--my inquiries triggered their follow-up. Frustrated at going two months with no generator, I asked the owner to call me. He/she did not. Instead, I received a text message from their staff, reconfirming that they had ordered the part in late Oct. I finally bypassed MS Solar and called Generac directly. They provided me with a shipping date. Does it REALLY take two months for Generac to fulfill its warranty promises? This is NOT the service we paid for.

My XT8000E starts usually very good but I use non ethanol gas and a fuel stabilizer. The hour meter failed though at around 23 hours I believe and had to buy another and found they are rather high priced. For some reason, it wasn't designed to charge the battery when running which is a flaw. If you read the manual, you will find the valve clearance is supposed to be adjusted at 50 hours. If you want to do the valve adjustment yourself, it’s best to get a service manual. It can be challenging to get a service manual though from a dealer I found but a digital pdf version doesn't cost anything.

I deeply regret purchasing a Generac Standby Generator. It took 8 months for delivery, and now – more than 2 years later – still not totally or correctly operable. It started with the inaccurate, incomplete, and faulty initial installation by EMC, which then caused further damage during periodic operations. All of this defeats the purpose of a backup generator in the first place, right? Frustration, Disappointment are understatements… Despite multiple attempts to have them corrected and repaired, – Generac & EMC - have provided NO MEANINGFUL SUPPORT OR ASSISTANCE…We have had to engage a third-party service provider even during warranty for interim repairs in order -to protect the people and animals on the property- …all at substantial extra costs to us….
Their product, service, and Corporate Governance ALL FAIL, making them unreliable, unresponsive, and dismissive. And still at risk of violating emissions standards. We will be filing a lawsuit and complaints with YELP, Better Business Bureau, and Consumer Reports. The irony is – ^As I am also a shareholder in this public company- Generac - I should apologize to the consuming public for any same or similar unconscionable situations. ^As a very, very unhappy customer – I suggest you do not buy anything from Generac or Energy Management Corp. After calls to the contractor who installed it and a call to Generac, I was told that a replacement was approved and it would take about two weeks to get a new one. After not hearing anything from Generac after two weeks I called them back and they transferred me to James, the guy who was handling my claim. I left a voicemail to ask him about the replacement. I'm still waiting to hear back from him. The contractor even called and he has not returned his call either. We paid about $11000, installation included plus the cost of the two tanks and to have them filled. It is now November 4th and all we have is a big lawn ornament and two LP tanks. My next phone call will be to the BBB and my state Representative. This is beyond unacceptable.

Generac may be the WORST company to work with. I bought a General 15000E generator about a year ago. When I got it, I tried it out and it worked fine. I didn't use it in the year I have it. When Hurricane Irene was coming to FL, I checked the unit and it was dead. Generac told me to get a new battery, which I did & it was still completely dead. I called Generac again and they sent me a list of local dealers. Since under warranty, I figured I was going to be fine. Unfortunately, the first 2 dealers I spoke to told me that they wouldn't work under the warranty since Generac does not pay them for the work. I finally found a Generac dealer who said he would work on it and pick it up as long as Generac approves it. I have spent hours on hold and being connected to the wrong depts at Generac to get approvals. I've never seen so much figure pointing and lack of service. The unit runs five minutes once a week for about 122 hours of use and about 12 hours of actual use during outages for a total of 134 hours for its life. We purchased the 10 year warranty and maintenance package as well. Our unit was just serviced late August 2024. The status has remained green, ready to go. My family and I took great comfort knowing we would have power, comfort, and the ability to share with our neighbors if needed during any power outage. As it is well known, Florida has been on alert and experiencing the onset of Hurricane Milton. Unfortunately our power went out for about 90 minutes this morning Oct 9, 2024.
As one would expect, our home powered as it normally would. Our power restored and the unit went back to standby. About 8 PM our power went out again. The Generac System powered on again only to shut down about 30 minutes into the outage. We tried to reset/restart the unit only to find it would run but not provide power. I have had issues from the onset of purchasing this system. The one time we really needed the unit, it failed!!! When Canter installed our system, they used something called “Shedding Unit” which delay the start/usage of your bigger home appliances. Those units alone have failed under normal non-generator use.
I am very disappointed in the failures experienced, in particularly when the use they are designed for, doesn’t work! I am going to explore Solar Panels with Solar Battery Backup. I think my money will be better spent there as would yours! Better warranties, easier product. VERY disappointed! The system didn’t do what it was designed to.

But doesn't seem to be anyone from Generac that wants to own it. So if ya get generator, don't be too confident that the wifi will work. We got 18,000 wk.

Generac products are a piece of crap and their customer service is even worse. I have a new pressure washer purchased in January 2024 used only twice and the engine failed. I took it to an authorized dealer, the dealer pointed out the engine failed on the new pressure washer. Generac instead of just replacing the pressure washer they are having the dealer replace the engine, my unit has been at the dealer three weeks as of today and the replacement engine still has not been sent to the dealer yet. I’m so glad that I did not purchase a generator from this company. I will never buy another Generac product. They are not worth your hard-earned money.

We received our new Generac 4 weeks ago. When it was installed it came with no oil in it. (it should have oil in it). When we noticed there was no oil we put oil in and watched as the oil slowly leaked out into the motor. We called the company that sold us the Generac and they came out and determined they could not repair. They called Generac to start a claim for us and we followed behind them with our claim. It's been 4 weeks. We can't seem to get a returned phone call. We are in the middle of hurricane season and can't run our brand new Generac. We want a new unit.

Cost was 690.00 to repair some oil leak including a home visit 125.00 to see what happened. They quote sometimes things break down like it does with car. It is test periodically to see if it works via the company. It's expensive when something goes wrong with it. Too bad there is not a lot of competition for a home generator.

I live in Houston Texas and I bought a 24KW Generac Generator. $14,000 (Generator plus installation). I bought the generator right before Beryl (Hurricane) devastated the area. I was so relieved to have it, because I lost all my food and had to stay at an expensive hotel when we were hit with the tornado. (The price gouging was real.) Wouldn’t you guess the brand new Generac does not work. I asked for a new one and I was told that I registered the Generator to my name and address
The crazy thing is you have to register it before you can start it to see if it works, so it’s like a trap of sorts. So you would think they would come and repair it with a sense of urgency… Nope. I’m being told they can’t come until September 2024. Apparently there are so many families who own Generac’s that didn’t work that the Generac Technicians are booked out for 2 to 3 months. Keep in mind we are in the middle of hurricane season and it don’t end until November! When I tell you I regret buying a Generac and not looking into alternatives.

I bought a portable generator for 472 dollars and didn't even have 24 hours and it caught fire and burnt my shed down to the generator was totally destroyed and flames so big it caught my shed on fire. Thank God it was not near my home or that would have caught fire possibly burning up my family. But thank God it was just my shed. I contacted company next day to tell them and try to get my money back so I got told it would take 30 days for someone to contact me.
So I waited and waited and finally got someone to contact me and submit all pictures and receipts. They took another month to get back with me to tell me they would not be giving me a new generator or my money back so I just lost my money some manufacturer warranty. Yeah right. A big company like this screws me with little income and a new baby. I will never trust this company again. They are the worst. I would rate them minus 0. Normally when you purchase an item you own it outright. Not so much with a Generac, especially if your like me, a do it yourself guy. My Generac oil change requires a quart of oil and a filter. Synthetic oil and filter can be purchased for about 15.00. The cost for a certified Generac dealer is 250.00. What a ripoff. If you do this work yourself you better keep good records because there is a code you need to program your oil change service into the computer on the unit. Without the code you're screwed. Dealers won't give you the code and I was unable to get it from Generac either.
They protect the dealers profits on oil changes as well if service is performed by you and not a certified Generac dealer your Warranty is void. How about that for a slap in the face. My neighbor needed a new battery in hers after 5 years, 375.00 is what she was charged. Holy crap for a 95.00 battery? The solar panels have never worked correctly and when after almost 2 years of trying to work with them to get those to work they are at best unreliable. They sort of work now (though I have at least one bad panel according to the tech who I finally got to come out). Don't get me started on the backup battery. It has NEVER worked. It still doesn't work. I have spent over a year being told there is a single part that is messed up and has been on back order. I have had 2 major power outages since and both times caused me to throw out my entire refrigerator which is the only thing that I have tied to my backup battery.
While each time I have talked to the individuals on the phone they have been decent people but the fact of the matter is they have failed to follow up repeatedly, including just stating they closed my case on accident. I have to start over from square one each time I call them. It's frankly exhausting and infuriating to start from the beginning each time I need to ask why I cannot get my system to work correctly. It is one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had. I will say that I realize the initial install was not their fault as I purchased through PowerHome Solar-which I would leave as bad of a review there if they still existed. During a power outage in November 2023, the engine, which only had 9 hours on it, failed, producing lots of oil smoke and and engine oil in the interior of the cabinet and outside on the ground. He started and attempted to run the new engine without success. It too was defective, with no compression in either cylinder. This engine was built up new at the factory specifically at the time it was ordered. We are now to months without backup power and no timetable to resolution. I am reviewing the Generac Generator Company, and I am going to keep this review as professional as I possibly can, but at the same time, tell you the truth from my perspective, a guy that spent $10,000 buying a Generac generator. Let me start by saying, under any circumstance, DO NOT buy anything from this company. 8 long months ago, I bought a Generac generator that Generac admitted to me was defective out of the box. Here I am, 8 long months later, in the middle of hurricane season on the gulf coast, and all they have done for me is lie to me and ignore me. Did I say lie? Over and over and over. Their arrogance, once they have your money is stunning, outrageous and in-your-face.
- Generac knows they have quality problems, but they sell so many generators that they don't have to fix it. They just put their customers on their hamster-wheel of lies until they just go away.
- And all of these authorized Generac service companies will no longer sell their customers a Generac generator. How insidious is all of that?
Do yourself a huge favor. DO NOT buy a Generac generator. If you don't believe me, just read the pages of one and two star reviews that litter the in tenet. These people win the Triple Crown. Deceitful, unethical and devious! Congrats Generac. What a bunch of felons.

This company does not stand behind their warranty service AT ALL. If it breaks down under warranty, plan on calling and calling them, then waiting at least a year. This is our second warranty claim and it is now sitting at 9 month since the claim was filed and they are just talking around the issue instead of fixing it. It is not the dealer's fault or the installer's...because they are dealing with the same thing and no one has the time to sit on the phone arguing with them about service. I would only recommend buying this unit if you just want an expensive lawn ornament because you will only be waiting on service the ENTIRE time you own it.

Now that the new build is complete and we want to hook the generator back up ON THE SAME PROPERTY IT WAS ALWAYS ON, I am advised that the warranty was voided because we moved it out of the demolition zone!! This hasn't even left the property, but they will not honor any further warranty because we move it 50 feet during re construction! This is complete FRAUD!! I paid $16,000 for a generator. The first one to arrive was determined to be unrepairable. So, the local company bought a 2nd one for me. We had a power outage yesterday and the Generac did not come on. This is the only outage we have had since the generator was installed. So, it's certainly not because it is worn out. It hasn't functioned even one time. $16,000 is a lot of money to me. To think that I blew that much money on a totally useless machine is making me heart sick. The company that installed it will charge me $75 to come out and look at it. This seems so unfair.

Purchased a Generac a little more than two years ago. The company had really bad help to install, several weeks large holes (call office and lie about waiting for county inspector). They failed inspections and it just did not work, they send someone for a hour or so. Call for inspection, I called county for day of inspection, and wait outside in a chair until the inspector arrived. (And I would make notes). If this was not bad enough the generator had a oil leak, the generator was replaced, about 6month ago. (The company has been great after they fired the bad help). You would think I would be a happy camper, and I would be if it worked. It look like it has to be taken apart, and several parts need replaced. We have health issues, and need the generator. Generac is billed as the best, I do not know how another brand could be any worse. I have no issues with the company that installed it, and it still under warranty and no out of pocket money.

I have not been given a reason yet, but my extended warranty request was "denied" within a few days after installation. I purchased a Guardian Standby generator (22kw which is one of the most common sold) and have not received any warranty on the equipment, yet. If you MUST purchase the Generac brand (Kohler is actually a much better, and longer lasting residential standby generator unit - I size and place generators all over the world), I recommend getting the warranty secured BEFORE installation. I purchased the Generac brand because it allowed me to use a LOCAL electric company and because of the advertised extended warranty. I feel duped and very foolish right now.

I purchased a Generac home generator in August 2022. I paid about $10,000 for the device and installation. This generator comes with a 5-year warranty. However, this is my issue. We had a significant power outage in March 2023. We were without power for five days. Within five days, My generator stopped working around 6:15 am on the 2nd day. Then my power went out at my home. I called Generac, and they told me to check two switches, one outside in the back and one inside. The representative told me to ensure they were on the I position, meaning it's on, and they were. I followed her instructions to a tee, and they both were in the on position. The generator keeps turning off so often. So they gave me a place where it can be fixed under warranty. So they gave me CRG Electric in Willis, Michigan, 48191. Down the street from where I live, After explaining to them, they told me they would have a tech come onsite asap.
Throughout that time, my Generac generator kept shutting down until the tech came. They called at 12:15 pm. The tech arrived and started to troubleshoot the issue. He checked the on and off switches, the transfer switch box, and the battery. And he told me it was the on-and-off switch in the back. After being there for less than 1 hour, he told me the back on and off button was causing the issue and got me up and working. We did have an icy storm that caused a power outage for five days.
However, my concern is this. The Generac generator should be covered under warranty for five years. When CRG Electric fixed the problem, I received a bill two weeks later for $145.06. I called CRG, and they told me Generac doesn't cover ice or snow issues. They told me the ice MAY HAVE TURNED OFF THE SWITCH this isn’t possible. That was not the case since the switch is in the back, and how can Icy turn off the switch? I am very sorry I purchased this device. Generac doesn’t cover labor. Only charges. So unfair.

I am truly disappointed with my decision to invest in a Generac system. I wish I could replace the entire setup and opt for an alternative. Unfortunately, I am now committed to using one of the least efficient and potentially hazardous systems in the market for the next three decades. Last year, I installed 15 kW of solar panels along with the Generac 18 kW PWRcell system, which has turned out to be one of the worst-performing, least maintained, and dangerous home battery systems available.
I’ve experienced multiple catastrophic failures of SnapRS devices, which have caused significant concern for my family's safety. The solar company is no longer responsive to my calls, and Generac has refused to provide assistance or address the issue. I wish I could return this system and receive compensation for the cost of replacing my roof due to the damage caused by the SnapRS fire. If the expensive batteries drain completely you have to replace them, they cannot be recharged. Nova Source, Generac's contractors, promised a return 1 month after the batteries were delivered, which took 3 months. Generac said they needed new paperwork to install the batteries that were waiting in my basement. Once installed, we've been experiencing power outages that need reset in our unattached basement on their fuse box or glitches every hour or so that resets all electronics in my house. I had contacted Generac myself concerned that my issue wasn’t getting resolved. I spoke with Mike from the consumer experience department who was professional and he contacted the dealer for a long discussion and followed up with me the next day. It turns out the ordered parts had arrived.
The technician came and this one quickly discovered that the problem was not the starter as initially thought but simply corroded contacts on the battery. Replacing the battery and contact wires was all that was needed to restore the generator to normal.
I was content with my direct contact with customer service and my dealer/service company who apologized for the initial misdiagnosis which left me without protection for almost 3 months. Fortunately there were no power losses during the period. Accordingly I have revised my rating back to full for good response and resolution.

Forget the large investment installing this generator. Forget the 7 year warranty that my 2018 purchase has. In October 2022 my generator stopped working. “RPM Sensor Loss.” My installer came immediately to investigate to make a diagnosis. Parts were ordered but no parts received. Generac is still pumping out whole generators but Generac is not providing replacement parts to their generators. What is the point of my investment and annual servicing and paying for the Mobile Link monitoring app and my generator has been a brick for almost three months. If the power goes out, my house goes cold.
Generac should stop those lying commercials and invest in their customers. Until October 2022 I had no generator issues. I was a happy customer. But now that it’s broken with no explanation from the company, I can no longer recommend this product until they get their act together. There simply is no excuse. If there are more reliable generator companies out there I suggest using them. It’s too late for me.

Paid mega thousands (half of our retirement) to get solar panels. Just over a year later we had a cold snap and the batteries quit working. Have called Generac multiple times. They have tried to reset the batteries multiple times. It works for a minute or 2 and then stops. They have provided me with names of companies to call, which I did. They either only work on generators (yes, they're on the clean energy list, which Generac claims ONLY those on the list work ONLY on solar panels. NOT TRUE), don't answer their phone, have had at least 2 hang up before saying a word, and the one they continue to recommend has a mailbox that is full-will not answer emails-will not answer Facebook messages.
They insist I call this one company and I could not get it through her head THEY CAN'T BE REACHED. I have not been assigned to any company that has taken over for now defunct Pink Energy. They cannot tell me when I will be assigned, that they have multiple consumers with multiple issues. So this tells me that Generac batteries suck and I am advising EVERYONE I know DO NOT GET HOME SOLAR PANELS. Purchased this solar system at an obviously inflated cost from Powerhome Solar (later Pink and later bankrupt) that was made of Generac equipment except panels themselves in May 21 and finally had installed and kind of operational in October 21. Was touted as being able to power my home primarily from solar, and totally reduce my electric bill, as well as be able to operate fully in power outage when "islanded". Kind of figured that was mostly **, but needed an alternate source for power outages and preferred this to generators.
Installation was a joke to begin with, as I was providing equipment and my own expertise all three days they were here (Only supposed to be 2). Never was limitations of Pwrcell battery module discussed and since it was mounted in an outdoor cabinet and literature at the time indicated operating temperature down to around 12 degrees F. Ok, so that was like 4th or 5th blatant lie from Generac pamphlets, etc. In any case, AT MY OWN cost I will have to make the correct repairs to this POS junk system to even come close to being able to operate reasonably. Being an engineer I fully understand environmental issues for batteries, but I also source Li-on batteries for applications that operate in extreme temps, so I know they are capable and will work, and quite frankly, my RV batteries for solar (which sit in an uninsulated bay) operated quite well down to -7 degrees.
My theory is that GENERAC controls this setting to keep customers dependent, but either way after a long term outage (13 hours) my batteries were depleted and have not charged again due to low temps I am told every time I call (even though my outdoor ambient temps here have been near 60 several days in a row). I have no backup at this point if power goes out. Definitely WILL NOT recommend Generac to anyone else, and as soon as I can afford to junk the $70K system -- I will and will be investing in a true solar company that cares about customer service, has a truly tested product and cares about their name.

Call Generac so they can have someone come out and fix the generator. A guy name Jake from Generator Super Center came out and said the oil pan was leaking and generac will take care of it. Called Jake to find out about the oil pan and he said generac won't fix it. They said it's a shipping problem. So I called generac myself.
I talked to Debbie one time, talked to Nicl one time, talked to Rosetta one time, talked to Shelby one time, and talked to Angelia one time. The guy Jake at Generac Super Center and I talked to another who agreed to send the pan and fix it. Called Jake and he said the pan came, went to the wrong place, he sign the slip so they can drop it off. Tried to call Jake back about 5 times but he decided not to answer no more calls from me about the problem. So I decided to call generac super center at a different number and talked to this guy Matt. Matt talks to Jake and Matt gets the pan in. Matt calls me to let me know the pan is in and he's talking to generac to get the approval to install the pan. Matt calls me to tell me that generac says for me to go after the shipping company. After I was told by generac that they will take care of it.
So I decided to call the place I purchased the generator from. It gets better. Called Power Equipment Direct and talk to Mike. He said he was call his rep. to find out what's going on. After talking to Mike the lady from generac name Marilyn sends me an email and says she's from the resolution department and she was assigned to escalated the case. Escalate to her means no more conversation. I've tried to call her 4 times and got no answer and no call back. Sent her an email to get no response. I call the Mike guy back to let him know I want to return the generator and say he can not take it back.
So the bad service is not only generac but it's the stores that sell they product. Generac, Power Equipment Direct, and Generac Super Center. I'm surprise about the level of customer service I received. Today 12/12/2022 I'm paying Matt at generator super center to install the oil pan. I bought a General Synergy 20,000 watt whole house generator. It was supposed to be better than other Generac Generators since it had variable RPMs and ran at an RPM based on the load so it was more economical as it was not designed to run at full speed if that was not called for by the load at any given time. I had an electrician who had done over 10 Generac installs, install mine. It never worked but would run without any load as it ran weekly for 5 minutes just to keep it running (helped keep the battery charged).
I had a Generac technician come and check it out and it still didn't run. After the second time he told me the Synergy models were crap and they discontinued making them. I called the company and they said that the Synergy units were fine and they had simply discontinued them for other reasons. The tech guy was supposed to come last year but never showed so I had my installer back and he said when he tested it the unit would not carry a load. Error message was the same. Seems the armature was not working properly to carry any load. A new armature was $1200.00 but I don't want to spend the money on something that might never run anyway. As I write this review, all the PV panels on my roof are off-line. Why, because of PVRSS lock-out errors: aka, the SNAP problem. Since, March of 2022, the system has been off-line more often than not. Generac keeps resetting the system remotely, and promising a real fix. First, they blamed faulty installation, then finally admitted the RS801 SNAP units were defective. After, my system was upgraded with the "new and improved" RS802 SNAP units, then they blamed faulty software. So far, nothing they have done has fixed my system.
Generac's custom service has been a major disappointment. They alternate between blaming anyone and everyone else, or acknowledging there "might" a defect in the system with a "possible" fix in the development. On any given day, the answer you get depends on who answers call or email. They still have not issued any kind of formal statement. Bottom line, we have a >$35K solar system with battery back-up, that cannot reliably produce electrical power or perform its primary mission of providing emergency back-up power - without the PV panels on-line, it can't even attempt to keep the batteries charged after the lost of utility power.

It fails saying "use address below?" but there's no address offered. If you click "Contact Support," you get a maze of options that don't offer resolution of anything. Purchased a 15,000 watt generator about 10 yrs ago for emergency backup power. Generator was only used on rare occasions for short periods of power outages. I kept up on ALL recommendations for maintenance. Drained gas every yr, changed oil whether used or not, changed plugs, started and let warm up at least once a yr. Kept track of all maintenance records in back of manual etc.. Friends said I was borderline obsessive/compulsive with my maintenance routines for all my equipment and tools. This generator has less than 50 hrs of run time.
Well, here I am in SW Florida in the aftermath of hurricane Ian. Not to worry, I have a professionally installed standby Generac generator! I was VERY cautious of using more than one "high current " appliance at a time. Dryer, hot water, AC, etc... Generator made it ONE DAY before the engine just died. It died with a very noticeable "crunch/grinding" sound. I was standing 5 ft. from it when it happened. After that, nothing. No starter, no nothing. Knowing a bit about engines, I was interested as to whether or not this was a mechanical or electrical failure. I attempted to start the engine by bypassing the starter button and made a direct connection with the starter solenoid. The engine would turn over rather easily (ruling out a piston seizure).
But a definite grind/clunk/crunch noise was evident. Probably something in the valve train. Doesn't really matter. I called tech support and that was a joke. All they could do for me was to locate a sales office nearby with no repair expertise (admittedly) at all. So here I sit almost a week later using my 3500 watt RV generator that I had kept when selling my RV. Not big enough for hot water, AC, range, dryer, etc.. Extension cords running throughout my home (with a new puppy). I hope Generac and all of its stockholders are happy with profits from using cheap parts. Last words... DON'T DO IT! I will be doing some intensive research on diesel generators. But not ANYTHING from Generac. Oh yeah, the RV generator is performing well above expectations. It's a Coleman.

We were aggressively sold the Generac PWRcell system in 2020 and worked with Hanna Solar as the contractor/installer. The system has not performed close to what the sales contractor claimed we would see (50% less). The install experience included an excessive amount of my time in follow up calls for no-shows, surprise shows, work not complete, work done incorrectly requiring them to modify my house after the fact, etc. The contractor had a new hire showing up to lead on every visit.
Throughout that process Generac provided ZERO support. Every call to Generac has ended with the line, "we only sell the system, you have to work with contractors to deal with it". After two years of constant system issues, that can occassionally be corrected through wired support (internet), we continue to struggle with it. Most recently 25% of my PV panels will not work. After 4 months of Generac contacts telling me "we only sell the system, you have to work with contractors to deal with it" and contractors telling me they can do the work... I'm left with a $75,000 system that does not work and the seller will not do what they claimed.
My review today was prompted by a conversation I had this morning with another contractor Generac suggested... This man, very nice, told me right from the start that he would most likely not be able to help. He just this month received his certification from Generac to sell their products, but has never touched a solar system and only has online training.
This is a clear case of Generac's greed to enter the market unprepared and unconcerned with the result, as long as they pocketed the money with help from federal/state energy grants... Absolutely sickening... Solar is not a scam, but Generac is an unethical company. Avoid at all cost...

I currently have a portable generator Powermate 6000. I've had it for 2wks with 3hrs on it. It is made of cheap material and will not last. 3 hrs of run time and it thru a rod thru the block which is 1/8 of inch thick. I called warranty center and the runaround starts, couldn't answer my question. Could tell they knew nothing about generators. Also they sounding like they wasn't interested in their job. I would steer clear of Generac period. Generators are not worth your time or money. Always have problems and service sucks even on house generjunks. Walk away and find better built machines. My first generjunk and last. Goodluck on warranty work because they will not do it even if it comes with 7 or 10 yr warranty. Don't listen to their lies.

Nothing has worked. We have been waiting on new parts for 6 weeks, which are the same parts they have replaced numerous times before. We currently have a $22000 piece of yard art. I have an elderly parent that need electricity for his durable medical equipment and every time the power goes out, he can’t use the equipment. We have asked for a replacement unit since it’s obvious after a nearly a year that we got a bad unit, but they keep trying to replace the same parts.

Repeated failure of power management device (also referred to as load leveler) caused household appliances to not work. This experience began 24 months after installation when first load leveler failed taking hot water heater off line. Forty-five days later second unit failed leaving cook top without power. That is 50% failure rate in 2 years for an emergency system! The Generac generator was not providing power to the house when any of the failures occurred. All required maintenance to the system has been performed.
The power management devices have Generac name plates but are classified as "accessories" by the company. They have only 12 month warranty and are not covered under extended warranty. On-line research indicates this is common problem and customers have not been able to get Generac to acknowledge and correct a design error. I cannot recommend Generac for home emergency power back-up. The company has been aware of the power device quality problem for years and has not redesigned the unit or supported customers in taking responsibility for repair.

After thinking more about it I decided it was not for me. Amanda scheduled a day to come to my house to give me my cash refund back. She did not show, nor call or even text me that she could not make it. Hours later when she finally answered she had to do something with her son and could not come. Amanda said she would be over the day, another no show nor no call or text that she could not come. No real reason only it was not a good day for her, I had to go to her home and get my refund. I had a fellow contractor tell me about your equipment but this has been a very bad experience. First thing the more was shipped with one wheel inflated and the other wheel deflated with the air stem facing outward and on the other wheel it is facing toward the engine. What work made this experience worse, the tire had a puncture and it was deflated. If it was just an air issue that would’ve been OK but when I called and spoke with a Bryan, he was very rude and told me That he was doing me a favor by ordering me another tire. I stayed on the phone for over an hour cause I asked for a return and then they told me I would be responsible for shipping cost of $300 to return the mower.
I called back and talk with Deb who was very courteous and assisted me and getting a replacement tire expeditiously, at that time I told her I would keep the mower. After finally putting oil and gas in the mower it started up fine but then when I push the lever to operate the transmission it is not functioning. I hate that I purchase this mower and it has been nothing but a headache from day one!

Buy a Kohler if you can. Horrible customer service. It takes months to get even the simplest thing done, if you can get it done at all. In all of Las Vegas, with 2 million people, there is ONE GUY that can do warranty service! I had mine installed in June of 2021, 14 months ago. During those 14 months it has worked for 2. At first it would crank but not start. They said it was a bad control board, which was replaced. Everything was fine for one month, then it did the same thing. Generac tried to tell me after looking at photos of my install, that my gas line was installed incorrectly. They refused to tell me what was wrong, saying they "didn't know the building codes in my area". I asked how they knew it was wrong, and they said "because their experts reviewed it and noticed a problem" but they would not tell me what the "problem" was and even stopped taking my calls or responding to my emails.
I finally got the tech to come out after agreeing to pay the $250 service call fee, and he said my installation was fine and determined the stepper motor was bad. He replaced it under warranty and did not charge me the service fee because he did find a problem. It took 3 months to get the part and get him back out to replace it. It worked for another month, and then started making a loud squealing noise when it tried to start. I sent him a video, which he sent to Generac, and they said I needed a new starter motor. That was in March. It is now August and I'm still waiting for him to come back out to fix it. He won't answer calls or emails, and his voice mailbox is full so I can't leave a message. I did buy the extended warranty, so I can expect 9 more years of this kind of "customer service". Poor quality product with nonexistent customer service.

I have now bought 3 Generac Generators in the past three years. At first everything seemed great. About a year after we bought the first generator the load shedding device burned up, which was hooked up to one of our two A/Cs. Our first indication was our A/C stopped working (Generator was not running the house at this time). So, we called the A/C people to fix our problem. After $130 service charge, they said it was an electrical issue. So we call the electrician (another $125 service charge). The electrician pinpointed the problem to the Generac load shedding device. Keep in mind our generator only runs for 5 mins a week, and has luckily not been need for any extended period. So because of a faulty circuit card we are now out $255.
Just last week another one of generators did the exact same thing at my mother-in-law's house. We were out of town so my mother-in-law called both the A/C guys followed by the electrician (another $255) and guess what...yep the Generac Load shedding device and another bad circuit card. But wait it gets better, after calling the installers and Generac generators, the part is only covered for one year of the 5 year generator warranty. So now we also have to pay for the service call and the part for the load shedding device to work properly. I cannot wait to deal with this again on our third generator. Bottom line, this company has zero customer service and does not give a crap about their customers, or the problems their crappy devices cause. I will not ever be purchasing another one of these units, nor would I even consider their pathetic extended warranty.

The cheap generac unit extremely costly as we had to upgrade the service to our home. Because I wasn't looking over their shoulders every second of every day, the electricians wired in circuits that are useless on a generator (like outdoor lights, etc). Not the generator's problem but adds to a horrible set up.
The unit itself is rather cheap and the app needed to run it has never worked. So the unit is attached to my house and electrical service but has been completely un-monitored since day 1. This means it never does a test run-up, if the power goes out there's no way to control the stupid thing. I can't say enough the app to use is totally worthless. The technicians that work on this waste of space, are very expensive and the service contact has been useless (as the unit in new!), generac as been absolutely useless! The fix was a kit with gasket and 2 new bolts with thread lock on them. This problem was stated in the directions for the kit so Generac knows this is a common manufacturing problem. I think it should have been a recall. Generac’s reason for not covering it was our warranty for everything except the power part of the engine had expired. I have had 3 whole house Generac generators installed in my houses over the last 20 years. While the generators themselves are fairly reliable, I am extremely disappointed with the Generac 7000 smart management modules. These modules allow large amperage appliances like AC condensing units and ranges to be turned on sequentially (not all at the same time) - this enables generator to service a larger house than it could if everything turned on at the same time. In a word - it allows the largest air cooled Generac generator - the 22KW model to service fairly large houses.
The problem is that these modules are extremely unreliable. I have 4 at my current home; one failed after 4 months and now 2 more have failed after 2 years. They are not covered by my service contract and the cost of replacing the defective modules is about $500. I asked Generac to cover the cost in as much as they know they have a product that is at best unreliable and I have not heard back from them.
As Generac is representing that a 22KW generator can power a larger home, solely because of these modules, I suggest that any potential customer give serious thought to a larger generator from another company or using the 22 KW unit from Generac, without the modules and just accept the fact that it will only power part of the house. A generator is like an insurance policy - you only need it when something goes wrong - like when the power goes out. If you can not count on it....

Prior to my first year of using my 13KW generator (the so called warranty period), the generator failed. When I opened the unit, there was significant corrosion around the battery. When the "certified installer" came out to fix it, they wanted to do a one year service call which cost me $300. They told me the heater that is under the battery failed and blew out some fuses in the transfer panel. After leaving, within the next week the generator once again failed to start for it's weekly test run. I cleared the alarm and reset the unit, thinking everything was OK. To my surprise, the generator would not start. Another service call to the authorized dealer and I was told that the battery was faulty and needed to be replaced. Probably due to the failure of the heating element, one of the cells of the battery had lost its acid contents.
Generac says that batteries for their units are not covered under warranty. So I paid out another $125 for a new battery. If their battery heater caused the failure, why did they not pay for a new battery. If the generator cannot run without a battery, how is a battery not covered under warranty. After only one year of owning this unit, I am not confident that it will even start in the event of a power outage. Either the certified installer or Generac as a company (or both) are unreliable and I would never purchase another Generac generator. I thought they had a five year warranty and they are telling me that there is only a one year warranty. For $6000 you should expect better from a company. Definitely do not buy from Generac.

When I purchase my complete Generac Whole House system over 5 years ago I went "all-in" on the brand. 22KW generator, transfer switch and MobileLink for monitoring. Well over $10K into what I hoped was going to be a "gold standard" consumer experience. After our first power failure during the middle of the night, the generator quit working after an hour. I called in the for warranty repair, assuming this was simply a tweak that needed to be made that was missed during factory QC. A year later, we had another power failure in which the generator experienced some type of fuel throttle issue. Service came out and made necessary repair.
A year later we experienced another power failure and yet another failure with the generator. At this point, I purchased the Generac extended warranty program, knowing that I did not want to get stuck with future, likely repair bills with this under-performing lemon. Two more years, and two more failures. Just as a summary, the generator has never been able to reliably run, or provide power for any power failure that was experienced.
Most recently in February of 2021, we experienced another power outage, and unfortunately the generator lasted an hour before error-ing out and quitting. All (6) historical issues have been different and have not been due to any type of overload or external cause. Based on this, I've asked Generac to replace this unit under warranty as my confidence level in this unit is non-existent.
I am now on my 5th month without a working generator and it feels like Generac is doing everything possible to avoid making this situation right. I've worked with their customer experience group, and it's insisted upon that more people keep coming out to the house to take photographs, etc. I'm not sure if this is being done intentionally in order to avoid accountability for what has been a faulty unit, or for some other reason such as lack of personnel or replacement units. Unfortunately this has been my worst consumer product experience in being a homeowner for over 40 years. Has anyone else experienced issues with Generac similar to mine?

This generator system was installed specifically as a whole house backup. As such, it has only had to be used 3 times since our purchase (about a year ago) and for less than 2 hours each time (I believe the longest outage last year was 90 minutes). Each of the 3 times it operated flawlessly and the switchover from line to generator power was fast. Beside the outages, there is a maintenance schedule that calls for starting up the generator each month for around 30 minutes. During this 30 or so minutes specific maintenance procedures are performed.
All told, the system has around 16 hrs of run time so far and has had no issues at all. I would recommend Generac for their generators (at least the whole house ones) with one small caveat, although it may cost a small amount (all things considered) to have it professionally installed, do yourself a favor and pay for the installation. My neighbor bought his before I did and asked me to help him install the unit. Only thing I don't care for is the monthly report which states my battery needs attention. It's only nine months old and the last three months same report. Why, it's brand new. Oh well, still enjoying the feel good from having backup.

We have a Generac Guardian Series 20KW generator - permanent, in-ground, fueled by gas line. Totally satisfied with this brand. We don’t have many power outages, but recently had an outage that lasted almost 3 days in the cold of a NY winter. Generator comes on reliably within 15 or so seconds of a power outage, and provides total power to our 2800 sq. ft. house. The noise level is not annoyingly noticeable. We put it in about 6 -7 years ago and have had no service issues, and have it checked annually. After the last outage, several of our friends and neighbors are in the process of getting one. An investment, but well worth it for the peace of mind! We expect it will also provide a return on investment when we come to sell our home.

Generac does not stand behind their product .... I had a catastrophic failure with very few POH, but was given no help because it was beyond their warranty period. It was clear that the unit was practically new with hardly any wear on it.

Bought a Generac generator in 2018 and two modules already gone bad. First time HVAC went out and we called local HVAC company who charged us $95 plus tax service fee only to find out it was a bad generator module. Six months later hot water stopped working so we called plumber who charged us $90 service call only to find out it was another generator module gone bad. Generac did pay for the modules and the labor to put them in but refused to pay the $185 plus for service calls that directly resulted from their poor workmanship. I have later learned that this is a recurring problem with the modules going bad. The lesson we learned is that when anything stops working call the generator service company first. I guess the motto that the customer is always right and let's make it right to satisfy the customer does not apply to Generac.

Owner Mark contacted me and had the problem solved the next day. No place on their website has the correct info on how to download and install the mobile app so that was the problem and looks like it still is. Matt from Generac came out and went through a series of 2 apps to get it to work. Even the guys that originally installed it had no idea how to do it. Very strange that the reply was fixmygen.com is not owned by them but when you enter those exact words it takes you to the home page even with a picture of the owner Mark that I talked to. All good now and love my generator.

Unit seems to be ok but Generac has the worst customer service ever. Paid 13 grand for a generator which took months to install. Once installed and done the tech if you want to call him that tried to help me set up the phone app. Good wifi signal at unit but it would not go past receiving signal at 78%. Tech said it must be the internet. Just try it later and it will work fine. Wifi booster is 20 foot away and phone plus generator had great signal. Super tech had me convinced it was the internet. He left never to be seen again plus gave me a phone number which is disconnected.
Now I call generac. You can not talk to a human. You must go to fixmygen.com and ask for help by message. Bingo 2 hours later they call and I explain all of the above. Lady says, "Ok we will come out and fix it but it will cost 149.00." Tell her it never worked since day one. Ooh and I paid extra for a 7 year warranty. Now she tells me it will be 200 per year and they will monitor it. No Way so she transfers me to another one that has no intention of helping me other than coming out and setting up a wifi system for 600+ bucks. Worst company ever and those that know me will be hearing about it on one of my upcoming radio shows. Stay clear of this company. Check other reviews. I'm not alone on this.

Our Generac 20kw with just over 200 hours blew a hole through the engine. Our electrician contacted them (he's an authorized dealer) to get parts to fix it and was told to replace it. Supposedly replacing an engine is more expensive than buying a whole new unit?! This is our second Generac, the first one failed after a storm, to be fair it could have been a lightening hit. But this one was serviced on time and rarely used. It feels like a big waste of money.

If you buy this 8000 watt generator to power your whole house during a power outage, you will actually only have 3600 watts available from the 30A outlet which connects to the house interface. Also, you won’t be able to use the gas saving idle control feature as it will cause damage to appliances trying to start up at such a low initial voltage. The generator must be run continuously at full output.
I had an existing interface for the house from a previous generator and the Generac wouldn’t work. Every time I plugged it in, the generator’s circuit breaker would open. An electrician had to disconnect a wire in the interface because the Generac has a neutral bonded frame. When not in use, the battery must be disconnected because there is some kind of constant electrical draw. If you leave it connected like a lawnmower, the battery will be dead, dead, dead, when you go to use it next time. Either disconnect the battery or keep a charger on it.
This is very hard starting. There is no way I can start it manually. It takes so long cranking with the battery that the battery voltage drops down and needs to be recharged. If I boost the battery with a charger, I can get it started, which obviously can’t be done during a power outage. I have to jump the battery from a car battery to start it. I think the battery is undersized. Finally, it is very loud. I can’t say how it compares with other portable generators.

I purchased one of Generac's off-brand generator (Powermate) this generator was defective. The company opted not to repair the generator and gave me the purchase price money back. A refund was quickly processed. I was notified by Paypal that the refund was complete. One month later I have not received the refund. All verification indicates the payment was sent. Clearly, this issue is on Paypal. The Generac company has agreed to take a loss and are sending me out a new generator. They understand they did their part. However, they understood it was not fair to me as the consumer. This to me is integrity. It shows a concern for the consumer. Obviously, this type of resolution could not be done with everyone. I will always recommend Generac.

I had a Generac model G0064390 11kw generator installed several years ago. During a scheduled service it was pointed out to me that because of the way it was installed, the generator battery would not recharge during use, meaning that the generator would only run for a few days before the battery died. I was led to believe that the issue could be fixed but Generac support has told the installer that it isn't possible to install this model in such a way that the battery will recharge while in use. Fortunately I haven't needed to run the generator for any long periods but I'm extremely disappointed to learn that should there be a long term power outage my generator won't continue to run. I've contacted Generac customer support but no response.

August 2020 - After a derecho (straight line wind storm) knocked out power to a significant number of people in my state, I decided to bite the bullet and buy a new generator. Purchased this electric start generator from Powermate/Generac (note that Generac purchased and now owns the Powermate brand) and it would not start STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BOX!!! Hours on hold and speaking with customer reps who read out of a manual to suggest fixes and still no power, no generator and the only recourse under their 3-year warranty is to take the generator (now with a full tank of gas) to a authorized service dealer. They gave me two options, the first (and closest) no longer in existence and the second almost 40 miles away. Had to give up a day vacation from work and no resolution in sight. I can't stress enough DO NOT BUY THIS BRAND or any Generac products. Lemons lurk amongst their brand...
October 2020 - Believe it or not, still waiting on resolution of this issue. The brand new generator has been sitting at the ASD for 2 months now because they can't get an authorized warranty repair manual for this model. The ASD's distributor says they are having trouble getting a manual from Generac because the model is "too new". Waiting on hold right now with the corporate office to find out when I can expect either a full refund or new generator... AVOID ANY PRODUCTS FROM GENERAC.

After the electrician completed installation and went to test the system, high voltage came through and damaged my boiler and burned out several lights/outlets. I owned the generator one year and it had 9 operating hours on it. I overheated and melted all of the plastic components including the control panel. Generac replaces the plastic junk by refused to replace the generator. Equipment that overheats is damaged internally and for every 10 degrees C it reduces the life of the generator by 50%. Generac told me they do not believe there was any damage but they did not perform and diagnostic tests to prove their decision. The overheat damage is supported by the scientific rule known as the Arrhenius Rule. You can google it. Generac fails in every aspect of customer support. They do not honor their warranty or have the technical expertise to make the decision. Do not buy this product.

My generator isn't even a year old. It switched on once, short power outage, maybe 20 minutes. It did work. We had another power outage, it did turn on but in less than 4 hrs, it quit, this is at midnight. Called the # provided for service, no answer. The man did come out this AM, "a part is broken". I did call Generac, a lot of lip service, they did nothing. Don't even bother to call them, waste of time. I paid over $4000 (2019) for this unit, that's about $1000/hour to have power (2020). To say I am disappointed is an understatement. Would I give a recommendation to buy this? No way. If I could give them 0 stars, I would. I sold my portable generator to a friend, it worked a lot better than this. Don't believe the commercials that it worked for 24 days, mine barely made it 4 hrs.

These are the photos of the correction. Moon wobble, Buyer Beware, Adam is a fraud. I purchased one Generac off grid Eco Gen. 2 wire start. Lots of promises. Don't buy this generator. It does not come activated for too while you're start. You cannot self install it because of that and you will pay at least $1500 on top of it to have it set up for 2 wire start. Furthermore this service is terrible. I have gotten 2 of these generators in the last 3 years. You can never get a service person to fix them. I have to load them up and drive them to a service center hundreds of miles away. If you want a propane generator make darn sure you ask if the jets are included or they will not be.
Calling Generac for resolution does not help. They will simply give you the same names of the people that they have on a list. Half of them do not even service Generac anymore because they do not get paid by Generac. Big big problems with these guys. They may be big but they do not care about their customers. Don't waste your money. Buy a Champion generator. They are cheap. Run AM until they break and buy another.

It was installed by a reputable HVAC technician and electrician. Needless to say the weekly power outages stopped after I installed the generator but it did kick on a few times when we had outages. I can't complained about it, it kicks in right away I can even have my AC on it in the summer and the motor keeps its rpm doesn't even struggle. I have a 7000 50amps that's half my house on it and it supports it. The only problem I have is the app as been removed in Canada. They did refund me what I just paid. After experiencing a power outage during the height of a cold Kansas winter, I was very excited to put in an automatic generator when I moved to Georgia in 2011. I purchased the unit through our local Home Depot who used a Generac certified installer. I also signed up for a regular maintenance program with a local company. Unfortunately, two days after the installation we had a thunderstorm and lost power. To my chagrin the Generac failed and provided no power for our home. When I called up the Generac company for support I was told that the repair for this brand new Generac generator would not be covered under the warranty despite the fact that it was installed by a Generac certified installer. I told them to make a service call anyway and that we could discuss responsibility for paying for the repair later. Someone did come over, but before he would look at the unit he demanded my credit card prepayment.
The service individual ultimately explained that the thunderstorm had caused a line surge and knocked out one of the components of the unit. Generac finally ended up replacing damage circuit board and I did not pay for the repair or replacement. The whole situation, however, left me with a new understanding of this company's complete disdain for the customer. Last year we moved and built a house. As you might guess, I did not purchase another Generac. Based on the above comments I see my experience was not a one-off experience but must be part of Generac's company culture. I cannot recommend them.
