About GE Ranges

GE appliances come with a traditional warranty, but the company also offers extended coverage with Bodewell Care Protection Plans. Backed by Assurant, GE’s authorized provider of extended warranties, these plans cover parts and labor for appliance repairs after the manufacturer’s warranty expires. You can pick and choose which appliances or systems to cover.

The third party GE has come out and repair your appliance are not qualified to fix it or diagnose it right? I'm working on my fifth appointment and I still do not have a working stove. Ge solution was for me to call another service repair shop. Have them come out and diagnose. What's wrong and then order the parts through GE and then get those people to come back out to fix it and they will reimburse $250 and I don't know about y'all but I don't know anybody that's going to come out twice and fix your appliance for $250 or less. But that was their solution. They will not take the stove back. A company is only as good as who represents them and US appliance is who they use in our area to do their warranty work. I don't want an appliance that I cannot get serviced.

I bought a GE stand free Electric range with a glass cook top. After a few months while something was cooking I hear a pop. The glass top cracked. I called GE. I was told they only cover the Glass Cook Top for 90 days. Since it only a cosmetic issue I continued using it as they said it's safe to use it. A few days latter it totally shattered. Now the range is useless. I paid $1400 for the range and to replace the glass cook top GE wants $600 so don't waste your money. Don't buy anything from GE. They are not the company it used to be.

⚠️ WARNING: DO NOT BUY THIS RANGE – EXTREMELY DANGEROUS ⚠️

I cannot stress this enough: do NOT waste your money on this GE Profile 30 in. Smart Slide In Electric Range (Model PSS93BPTS). What happened to me was not only disappointing, it was terrifying and dangerous. While I was baking a simple loaf of bread, the glass panel on the control/display area suddenly exploded without warning. Shards of glass went flying across my kitchen at high speed. Thankfully, I don’t have small children at home, but one of my cats was hit and ended up with an injured paw. Imagine if a baby or child had been nearby. This is an unacceptable hazard for a household appliance that is supposed to be safe for daily use.

To make matters worse, this range wasn’t even that old, just a little over a year after purchase. I paid over $2,000 for what GE markets as a “premium” Profile product, only to have it turn into a ticking time bomb. And when I called GE to report this nightmare? Their answer: “It’s out of warranty. We can sell you another GE range with a $200 discount.” 🤯 Absolutely insulting. You expect me to spend MORE money on a brand that nearly harmed my family, just because you throw me a pity coupon?

Shame on GE. A company of this size and reputation should recall such dangerous products and take accountability instead of brushing off loyal customers. The fact that they dismiss life-threatening defects as “out of warranty” shows just how little they care about safety or customer trust.

    Bottom line:
    1.- The product is unsafe.
2.-The quality is pathetic for the price.

3.-The customer service is a complete disgrace.

Do NOT buy this range or any GE Profile product. Protect your family, your pets, and your money. I will never again purchase anything from GE, and I strongly urge you to do the same.

Purchased a GE glass top range approximately 2 years ago. The main front burner, regardless of setting, only burns as if it were set on high. The Customer service agent said it's most likely the internal switch. So nothing to do with consumer abuse of use. She then went on to inform me that they do not back that issue. She informed me that I would have to pay for the service.Call the part and the labor. On top of all of that, they only have service techs Mon-Fri from 7am-5pm. So if you work a regular day job, it's gonna cost you a minimum of half a day's earnings on top of the repair costs. In a case like that GE is definitely putting the consumer as their last priority.

I purchased a GE gas range from Lowe’s in December 2024. The stove broke down on April 5, 2025, and for most of a month, attempts to resolve the issue through GE and its contracted servicer, US Appliance, have been unsuccessful due to poor communication, unresponsiveness, and inadequate support. Despite multiple calls and interactions with GE representatives and US Appliance, the stove remains unrepaired/ replaced. US Appliance failed to follow up after an initial inspection, and GE has been unhelpful, offering minimal compensation and proposing either a partial reimbursement for a self-arranged repair or restarting the service process, which would further delay resolution. Lowe’s declined to replace the stove, offering only a $100 credit toward the purchase of a new stove. I have a non-functional appliance, additional expenses, and significant stress, particularly while caring for a sick child.

A Complete Disappointment: GE Profile 30-inch 5 Burner Smart Slide-In Electric Range. I purchased the GE Profile 30-inch 5-Burner Element Smart Slide-In Electric Range (ORDER #**) for $1,917.55 on March 16, 2024, with high expectations, given its premium price and advertised features like convection cooking and air frying. However, this stove has proven to be a complete failure in quality, durability, and customer service. As retirees who dine out frequently and travel often, my husband and I have used this stove occasionally. Despite its limited use, the oven's poor construction became evident in January 2025 when I used the steam-cleaning function for the first time.

I followed the manufacturer's instructions exactly, expecting an easy cleaning process. Instead, when I opened the oven 30 minutes later, I discovered small black particles covering the bottom, peeling from the sides and top of the oven, and even stuck to the heating element—which may now be damaged. It was as if the oven's coating was melting and flaking off, much like chipping nail polish. GE Steam Cleaning Instructions I Followed. To ensure proper use, I adhered strictly to the GE-provided steam-cleaning directions:

    1. Remove all racks and accessories from the oven.
    2. Pour 1 cup of water onto the oven bottom.
    3. Close the oven door and select the Steam Clean function.
    4. Allow the cycle to run for 30 minutes.

    5. After completion, wipe out any remaining moisture or residue with a soft cloth.

Despite following these steps strictly, the oven's protective enamel began peeling off, proving that GE's steam-cleaning feature is fundamentally flawed and damaging.

Health & Safety Concerns. Needless to say, I was fearful to use the oven after seeing what appeared to be a degraded protective coating mixed with our food. This forced us to dine out for the entire four-day visit of my grandson, who had traveled from North Carolina—an inconvenience and unnecessary expense. While GE claims the coating is "non-toxic," no consumer should be forced to ingest deteriorating oven material.

GE's Abysmal Customer Service. This range is under warranty, so on January 24, 2025, at 12:09 PM, I called GE Customer Service (1-800-386-1215) and spoke with a representative named Lauren. Despite my detailed description of the oven damage and my concerns about contaminated food, Lauren immediately dismissed my complaint as 'cosmetic' and informed me that GE would neither repair nor replace the oven. When I insisted on escalating my case, Lauren stated she had no specific supervisor and was simply reading from the GE diagnosis manual—a clear sign that she was regurgitating scripted responses rather than addressing legitimate concerns. Nonetheless, I pushed for a claim to be made (Claim #**).

Expert Inspection Confirms Manufacturing Defect. GE arranged for AI Appliance (301-533-7557) to inspect the oven. The technician arrived, took photos, and his professional remarks were:

    • The coating inside the oven was defective, and when exposed to steam, it bubbled, flaked, and peeled off.
    • The heating element was covered in residue, which could indicate potential damage.

    • The bottom of the oven had a sizeable gray discoloration where the coating had utterly melted off.

The technician sent his findings to GE. I contacted GE on January 29, 2025, for a claim update and explained the purpose of the claim again to Bethany. I was assured that the case would be reviewed by the Product Quality Engineers at the G.E. Safety Team PO 1780 Rapid City, SD 57709 and I would receive a response within 24 hours. My request to speak to a supervisor was not granted.

More Customer Service Failures. After waiting for an update that never came, I had to contact GE yet again. This time, I spoke with Makaela, who was challenging to understand due to her poor enunciation. Her response? More dismissiveness. On February 3, 2025, GE responded via email with this infuriating assessment: "The photos appear to show some kind of bake-on residue (either grease/food or aluminum foil) on the oven cavity floor. This is not a safety issue and is no reason for unit exchange. The porcelain enamel is there to provide aesthetic value and ease of cleaning to the consumer. The oven will continue to function normally over its life with any damaged or missing enamel." This response is factually incorrect and completely unacceptable. The flaking and peeling coating was NOT food residue—it was the protective oven lining disintegrating due to their defective materials.

GE's Inexcusable Warranty Refusal. This oven is still under warranty, and yet GE refuses to acknowledge the severity of the issue. Their dismissive attitude, inaccurate assessment, and complete lack of accountability have turned what should have been a simple repair or replacement into a consumer nightmare. I spent nearly $2,000 on an appliance I cannot trust to cook food safely.

In January, I received a notification from GE Appliances and Assurant, proudly announcing their partnership to offer me an appliance repair plan with "special pricing." The letter explicitly reassured me that my manufacturer's warranty remains in effect until April 23, 2025, and that this so-called Service Protection Advantage would kick in the day after my warranty expires, ensuring I wouldn't have to pay additional out-of-pocket costs for covered repairs.

How ironic—when I needed service under the existing warranty, GE refused to cover my stove repair and/or replacement. If they won't stand behind their products while they are contractually obligated to do so, why on earth would I pay them to extend the charade? This predatory attempt to squeeze more money out of customers while failing to fulfill their existing responsibilities is an insult. They are asking me to pay for future protection when they have already proven they won't provide the coverage I am entitled to. The gall, its sheer absurdity, is beyond comprehension. Naturally, I did not return the payment form with the enclosed envelope—because why would I throw good money after bad?

GE's approach here is a masterclass in corporate gaslighting. They assure me I'm covered, send me marketing materials touting their "protection," and then conveniently dodge accountability when an actual claim is made. And now, after reneging on their obligations, they have the nerve to ask me to pay them more for additional coverage. No thanks. I won't be falling for this cash grab disguised as a service plan. Perhaps they should focus on honoring their existing commitments before expecting consumers to trust them with another dime.

My Demand: A Replacement Without Steam Cleaning Feature. I demand that GE provide a comparable replacement oven WITHOUT the steam-cleaning function, which has clearly been shown to damage the oven's protective coating. Consumers should not be forced to accept a defective, deteriorating appliance under warranty while being brushed off by a corporation that refuses to stand by its product. If you are considering purchasing this stove—DON'T. GE's poor craftsmanship, faulty materials, and horrific customer service make this a product I regret ever buying. BUYER BEWARE!

Urgent Concern Regarding Quality Issues with My GE Air fryer Stove. I am reaching out with deep concern regarding ongoing quality issues with my GE Airfryer stove, which I purchased just two months ago. As a longtime supporter of GE appliances, I had high expectations, but I have been deeply disappointed by the manufacturing flaws I have encountered. Despite never being used, the middle griddle has become discolored, and the left and right grates have also shown discoloration despite only being cleaned with Dawn dishwashing liquid. Additionally, the ceramic coating has begun chipping after just a few uses, which has made me hesitant to continue normal cooking. To prevent further damage, I switched to a non-abrasive cleaner, but the problem persists.

I sincerely appreciate Rhonda’s kindness and efforts in replacing all three grates and providing a cleaning kit. However, the issue remains, and I am now noticing that one of the back burners is the wrong size—it does not fully cover the burner, creating an odd appearance that resembles food buildup from a distance.

A GE representative, Adrian, was sent to assess the situation, but unfortunately, no resolution was provided. This experience has been mentally exhausting for me, as I take great pride in maintaining a clean and welcoming home. My husband and I recently retired, and with my existing health concerns, dealing with these ongoing issues has been overwhelming. With summer approaching, we plan to host dinners. I am disheartened to think of how my brand-new stove will continue to deteriorate over time.

I truly hope GE will stand behind its reputation for quality and customer care by resolving this matter fairly. I did nothing to cause these defects, and I worry about how the stove will look and function in just a year’s time. I kindly ask for a thorough review of my concerns so that I can continue to trust and recommend GE products as I always have. Best regards, Hilda

This is the worst decision we have ever made. My husband spent weeks researching ranges and decided that this one fit our needs the best. I am a bread maker and the proofing feature was an attractive feature as well as the “True Convection” that was supposed to bake things faster. It’s been an absolute nightmare. The range arrived 2 days before we had the power installed so we were outside Home Depot’s return window when I discovered all the problems :-(

I first noticed there was a defect on the glass inside the oven door. Then when I tried the proofing feature, it wouldn’t get up to the promised 82-100°. It co distantly stops at 76°. Then when I tried to use the True Convection feature, nothing cooked any quicker. In fact EVERYTHING took at least an additional 10-20 minutes. This was similar to the issue using the bake feature. Everything takes twice as long to cook and the temperature fluctuates so if you preheat it to 350° it might get to 350° then it drops to 250° then jumps to 450° burning everything I try to bake. And trying to get service is another nightmare. They didn’t have any problem delivering it to my house but now I’m too far for service techs to come out. One actually cancelled and told customer support that I cancelled.

I’ve been wait over a month for someone to come out. Today someone finally showed up, without the necessary parts and the idiot had no idea how to use the oven. He left after 5 minutes saying he doesn’t know when they can come back because it’s so far. Does GE care? No, they do not. I don’t even want this piece of **** any longer but they won’t take it back or send me a replacement. I will NEVER buy another GE product. I would strongly suggest you look at a different company because this one does not stand behind its products.

I bought the gas combo dual oven with convection and air fryer for our kitchen remodeling. It has a center griddle which I really like. The air fryer is nice also. I have not used the convection yet. The reason for my low rating is it's hard to clean. You have to remove the griddle which is heavy and both grates to clean the cook top. The only way to clean the oven other than manually with a non-abrasive cleaner or to use the steam feature. My turkey dripped and has baked on the bottom plate. I've run the steam clean twice and even put vinegar in the water the 2nd time and it didn't clean it. It also dripped down the larger open slots to the bottom. I now have to get down on the floor, try to reach the 2 screws at the back of the oven and take out the heat shield to clean everything manually. If I'd have known this, I would have not bought this unit.

I want to express my extreme disappointment regarding my experience with the GE Profile™ Series 30" Slide-In Front Control Induction and Convection Range that I purchased on February 28th of last year. Since the purchase, the range has been turning off on its own, initially occurring occasionally, but has now escalated to happening every time I use the range. I contacted the GE appliances maintenance department in February to report the issue, and a technician was sent to inspect the range. The technician identified the electric panel needed to be replaced, which, according to the technician, is a known problem for this range since the front electric panel that controls the range is exposed to any liquid spills. I was surprised to hear about this design flaw, as it was not disclosed to me during the purchase.

After several discussions with the GE appliances maintenance department, they initially agreed to fix the issue under warranty. However, a few days later, I received a call from the department informing me that the issue is not covered under warranty, and that I would need to pay approximately $750 to resolve it. I find this extremely disappointing, considering the cost of the range and the known design flaw that GE Appliances should have addressed before releasing the product to the market.

I have made several attempts to address this issue, but I have not received any response or acknowledgment from any of the email recipients, which is even more disappointing. I am concerned that the design flaw poses a safety risk to myself and others. The area between the panel and the stovetop should be sealed to prevent any liquid from spilling into the electrical panel, and this flaw should have been addressed before releasing the product to the market.

Hi, I purchased my home in 2021 and it came with a GE range (model # JB645RK6SS, serial # LR018824Q). Within the last 3 weeks, I have been smelling a burnt plastic smell when turning on the oven. Within the last 2 weeks, I noticed that the oven started smoking when in use. I contacted GE customer support on 10/31/22, and the first available service appointment was a week out, 11/7/22. I received a call on 11/7/22 from GE customer support informing me that the technician called out sick and that I needed to move my appointment to 11/14/22. The CSR was not empathetic nor sympathetic. She was very cold and offered no apology. She made it seem as if it was a choice. She told me that there was no other technician available. I need a stove, as I have a newborn. A week without an oven was a major inconvenience, now it will be 2 weeks without one.

This is ridiculous. Of course, I told her that I would accept the new date. What else could I do? I understand that things happen that are outside of our control. But what bothers me is that this company doesn't have any other technicians on duty. Or that this company couldn't fit me in any day the week of the 7th. Or that she didn't care or show any remorse of the inconvenience that this caused to my household. I’m annoyed that no one called the night before, per the website they are supposed to contact you the day before your scheduled appointment to confirm your appointment. Today is 11/13/22 and no confirmation call. This really has me concerned about ever making a GE purchase in the future.

First burner went 3 months after purchase. Was stuck on with flames. Had to shut off gas behind the oven until it could be serviced 2 months later. 6 mos later a second burner is now broken. Do not buy.

I bought this oven as part of an upgrade kitchen package just over two years ago. The oven has an electronic control board at the front of the oven that provides for a sleek design. The control panel is also WiFi enabled so it allows you to see if your oven is on while you're away. I rarely cook so I do not have much to say about the cooking features of the oven.

The issue with this oven happened a few weeks ago after a power outage. I came home to find my townhome full of smoke along with the smell of fire. There was no active fire upon by arrival, just the smoke and smell. It was not readily apparent what caused the fire, however I was able to narrow this down based on the soot surrounding and covering the range. I also noticed the control panel was blank. When I went to check the circuit breaker, I also found that the breaker was tripped for the range. As a note, the range was not on prior to leaving the house nor had it been used in several days.

I called GE appliances up to discuss the issue. They created a case and sent a technician out to look into the issue. The technician removed the control panel and found that the circuit and wires within the control panel were melted. The technician reviewed a few other areas within the range and reported that the range was not reparable.

I am being told that since the range is out of the one-year warranty, there is nothing that can be done regarding this incident and range. The two main issues around this are regarding product quality and the potential for a house fire with this appliance. No other appliance or electrical component was damaged due to the power outage. This appears to be an isolated incident related to this range.

The first time I used my broiler on my new GE range, the element literally blew up. It was like the 4th of July in my oven. It blew a hole in the element and shot "shrapnel" that is all over the roof of the oven. I've had 2 service calls and a new element has been on order for 2 months. They never said how they were going to resolve the "shrapnel" issue. The range is under warranty. GE set up a service call and then Asurion (who administers the warranty) got involved. The two don't communicate and keep asking me to call the other. The right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing. In the meantime GE said they have someone coming out tomorrow. Asurion called and said no that's not correct and they have me set up for an appointment next week. For this reason I will never purchase another GE product.
