If you want a high maintenance dishwasher, this is the one for you. There is a filter in the bottom of the dishwasher that has to be cleaned out often or it stinks terribly. The plastic tub molds, having to be cleaned a couple times a week also. Mine won't turn off, luckily it's attached to a switch so I turn it off that way. GE appliances are no longer the quality products they used to be. I bought a GE microwave in March that's decided it's done.

This machine was decent while it worked but I won't buy a GE again. We got it because we loved the slate color...it went perfectly with our flooring and cabinets. Had one repair less than a year in for a leak that was coming from the door but it wasn't a big problem. Its cleaning was only mediocre and drying was worse. The control panel started to go a couple of months ago. After about every 2nd or 3rd wash, it goes out and we need to turn off the circuit breaker for about 5 minutes and then it works again. Now it's leaking from the center bottom. Looks like it's the diverter. It's not even six years old. I hoped to get at least 8-10 years out of a dishwasher. Our prior one lasted over 12 years (Maytag).

Had the water softener (GXSH40V01) product for less than 3 years. Started to fail, ER3 and tank would fill up with water. Flushed out tank (per GE direction), cleaned venturi filter (wasn't dirty at all). Restarted, worked for another month, back to same thing. So on 9/29/22 got a tech to look at, he & GE recommended I replace the control board (part 1039464084), which they sent free to my house ($200 for the tech though). Worked for about a month, or maybe a bit longer. Then ER3 and tank was full again (late 3/23). Had authorized repair come out. $170 said it was a o-ring. Work until about 7/23, then tank full of water again. Called GE 7/18/23, spoke with Nathan, he said I should replace the water heater and since it was out of warranty he said there is nothing he can do to help.

Bought brand new 6-2022, first one delivered, opened box (no damage) and the kick plate was smashed, the left side hoses, and water connections all broken. Store took it back. New one showed up much better condition. Installed and it's leaking from between the front stainless steel panel and the inside tub panel. Called GE 3 times they adjusted this and that... still leaks. What does a $1000 dishwasher from GE do while running the heavy cycle?? Slowly flood your kitchen... Wanting on GE rep to come out again... DO NOT EVER BUY A GE DISHWASHER. ONLY BUY: BOSCH OR BOSCH AFFILIATED BRANDS OR MIELE. I'm hoping to return this piece of garbage and get a Bosch dishwasher with the longest warranty I can buy.

We bought a brand new GE dishwasher with third rack. It never worked right from the start. It took 3 hours to wash the dishes. You could only use it on one setting and we received an email last month the warranty expired. It broke this week. Repair man said it’s the computer. Had my last Frigidaire dishwasher for 10 years no problems. I am so disappointed and would not recommend GE ever!

July 22, 2022. How Many Visits does it take for a GE Repairman to Fix a GE Dishwasher? (Hint: More than 7 & Still Waiting!)
I. The Problem: Our GE Dishwasher (Model No GDF610PSJ2SS) stopped working in February 2022. It just wouldn’t turn on. When we bought the dishwasher in March 2017, we smartly took advantage of GE’s Extended Warranty Opportunity under Service Protection Plus. We received a 6-year Extended Warranty in April 2017 from Assurant. As it says in the promo - “it is for peace of mind during the warranty.”
II. Steps Taken to Fix the Problem. Well, I am here to report that the “Extended Warranty” has turned into an “Extended Nightmare” and that “Peace of Mind” has long left the “Mind in Pieces”! Let me share what happened during the 7 Visits in Chronological Order:
1. March 2022 : Support call placed to Assurant for a technician to fix the problem. Technician from their local provider shows up. Leaves saying he “needs to order a part”. (Won’t tell us what the problem is.)
2. April 2022: The local provider calls to inform us the part has arrived and they need to set up an appointment. On the day of the appointment, he replaces the new part and announces that the Dishwasher is now working. Only problem, he hypothesizes, is there is no water flowing either way. So he leaves, telling us his job is done and we should get a Plumber.- We get a Plumber (cost:$150) to “fix” this problem. He demonstrates the water flowing into the dishwasher. No plumbing problem.
- So, we get back to Assurant and the Local Provider saying the Plumbing is fine and the dishwasher is still not fixed!
3. May 2022: The Technician comes in and tinkers around - Identical to Step 1 Above. Leaves saying he needs a part!
4. June 2022: On the day of the appointment, he replaces the new part. Dishwasher still not working. Leaves saying he needs another part! (Mind you he won’t tell us what the issue is.)
5. July 6, 2022: Same as 4. Leaves saying he needs another part!
6. July 11, 2022: Same as 4. Leaves saying he needs yet another part!
7. July 20, 2022: A slight twist. On the day of the appointment, a new technician arrives and replaces the new part. Dishwasher is still not working. Tells us he needs our wifi code. We refuse to give him. He says he cannot do this job. Puts everything back and leaves saying his boss will be in touch with us!
III. The Status. So, on Jul 21, 2022 we received an email from Assurant that due to the customer’s “non-cooperation with the technician on site” (note: this would be our refusal to give the wifi code) they are done repairing the Dishwasher and they would consider this job complete!
IV. HELP! What are we supposed to do? 7 visits and the GE Dishwasher is still not working. The GE I knew would “Bring Good Things to Life!”

My spouse and I purchased a GE Dry Boost Front Control 24-in Built-In Dishwasher (Stainless Steel) ENERGY STAR 50-Decibel 2 years ago. Recently, an internal small plastic piece broke that holds the funnel in place on the outside of the machine. The funnel allows water to drain from the hose to the inside of the dishwasher. This piece is about .1 millimeter wide and it holds a funnel in place that directs 30 + gallons of water to inside the dishwasher. The funnel came detached because the internal plastic piece broke. Water leaked behind the dishwasher and under my hardwood floors. This malfunction caused $8000+ worth of damage. I would not recommend a GE dishwasher because the parts a made cheaply and will break over time.

My brand new GE dishwasher was delivered on February 17th. That next day I ran the dishwasher and it leaks water all over the floor. I immediately contacted Lowe's that's who I bought the dishwasher from and they referred me to GE customer service since it was brand new and still under warranty. That's when the nightmare began. After contacting GE customer service I got the runaround. I was promised call backs. I was told this and told that. Anyway a month later I'm still calling GE's customer service waiting on a part or waiting on the machine to be replaced and still getting the runaround. Whatever you do don't I repeat do not buy a GE dishwasher. Their customer service if you have any problems will let you down and cause you Untold frustration.

Have used GE dishwashers before - were good. However GE no longer makes them, it's just a name - now made by MABE (part of HAIER), Mexican with Chinese ownership, and this new one arrived with a factory fault - cracked tub which leaked immediately. "Cracked tub seam" and leak found immediately by service tech "GE"s site referred. Good news is the leak detector worked! Bad news - is we didn't install it right away (old one still worked and pandemic...) so it was a year before we got to it (was partly a gift). So - now MFR Mabe is giving us the run around and so far not doing anything about the faulty dishwasher they mfd and shipped through Home Depot. Don't be fooled as we were - "GE" is not actually GE anymore and the mfr HAIER/MABE are doing nothing to correct a factory mfg fault.

I bought the dishwasher July 2020. I’ve had 9 service calls and multiple calls to GE and my dishwasher still doesn’t work correctly. It doesn’t wash or dry thoroughly. At one point it wouldn’t even turn on. They came and the wires melted together. It was installed by a professional. Now I’m worried it a fire hazard. I’ve had to leave work early each time. At times they have not shown up when they were supposed to or shown up when they are not supposed to. Every time you call you are on hold for at an hour. When you do get through they pass you on to someone else who doesn’t care or know what to do.
I've been told several times that should I get a new dishwasher after this many calls but I’m told by the service person that is not true. Also if the repair person deems it unrepairable can be replaced. The repair person said that’s not true. Now the it's out of warranty and they are trying to charge me for the service call. They offered to sell me a new dishwasher at a discounted price. Unbelievable! I’m at my wit's end and I’ve lost faith in GE

I have been trying to get this dishwasher to work since April. I have had it serviced 2x and yesterday the board was replaced. Soon after the dishwasher started to say the same thing again. Press start and the cycle is paused and will start in 3-2-1. it does not start but repeats and beeps over and over. I have done everything in my power to get this rectified. It will run out of warranty in October and I haven't been able to use it. As a consumer I am demanding a usable product that I spent my hard earned money on. Here is the model CDT875P4N2W2. I will go to any lengths to get some attention in this matter and I hope Consumer Affairs can contact GE Corporate for me.

I bought a GE dishwasher that has a plastic tub. The tub smells. I asked GE to replace it, they won't because they say it operates correctly. I cannot imagine why any manufacturer would use a product in a dishwasher that STINKS. The plastic even has a warning for California consumers, that it's a cancer-causing substance. I'm glad I don't live in California, so it will never cause cancer here....

We bought this dishwasher, with third rack and steel tub, after extensively reading reviews online. We went through Home Depot and had to wait a month for the dishwasher to be delivered. We have had it just over a month now and not only does it fail to get all of the dishes completely clean (even when run on heavy cycle) it NEVER dries even with the dry boost on. We never overload it or load it incorrectly and still there are dishes and utensils with food residue after it's done running which takes hours. I predict it will rust out in about five years (planned obsolescence). The only feature I'm happy with is that it is nearly silent. Not hearing it run helps to not remind me how much money we wasted.

We bought a new GE dishwasher 28 APR 2020. I noticed it wasn't working right about 5 months later. We are just over 1 month from the end of the warranty. The store where we bought it has been fantastic, but they've been out 5 times to try to fix this sucker and they can't. GE told ME they would replace it if the store called to say they couldn't fix it, but when the store called, they refused. They're sending the repair guy out yet again one week before the warranty expires so he can call them and they'll talk about it while he's here. I'll never buy another GE appliance again.

First, I want to acknowledge that I misplaced my receipt due to a move, 8 storage units and 4 houses. But...I did register my new, never before installed dishwasher when it was installed October 2020. After install I ran it empty to test/clean it. IT LEAKED. I called GE to schedule repair. I was told it was manufactured in 2018 (another said 2019) and it was not under warranty. I explained I purchased it only a few months before and installation was delayed due to my contractors. They said I would have to pay for labor but the parts were covered under warranty. I didn't like it but agreed because I couldn't find the receipt (from a big box store).
Local repair people came, after 2 more calls, 3 weeks later and fixed the leak. They did not run or check if anything else was wrong with the dishwasher. I began using it and quickly realized that it did not get the dishes clean. It does not heat the water, it does not dry, it can't possibly sanitize without heat and kitchen installer said it was missing the kick plate. Geez!! And this is just the things I know!! I have called 4 times now to schedule a service repair, each time having to explained the whole thing, sit on hold, ask to speak to a supervisor, be transferred to customer service and 4 times I have been DISCONNECTED!! I bought all GE appliances so they would match but I would give anything if I didn't have to deal with GE again!! Unfortunately, I will have to call again Monday or buy a different brand. Save yourself and buy another brand!!! Wish I could submit a picture.

I installed the unit approx. 4 days after receipt and dishwasher functioned well until November 10th, 2020 when the unit failed to pump out the water. I contacted GE Service (MabeService) and was advised that the unit was not under warranty and as such I should contact a GE Canada authorized service centre.
After several attempts to get someone to come to our location at Sharbot Lake we got hold of Capital Appliance Repair in Ottawa. They were not able to send a technician until November 18th. After diagnosing the problem the technician advised we needed a main control board and would have to order one and then come back to do the install of the control board. It is now February 21st 3 months after the visit and I’m being told that the part is backordered and they have no idea when it will become available. I’m extremely unhappy when you spend over $7,000.00 for a GE CAFÉ gas stove, Microwave, Refrigerator and dishwasher to find out you cannot get parts in a timely manner. Honestly, the only beef I have with this model is that plastic articles do not dry completely unless placing the controls on "Heated Dry," and leaving the dishes in the dishwasher for the entire drying cycle. I have had my kids place some dishes in the dishwasher, caked in day old food. I came into the kitchen to find my entire kitchen floor flooded in boiling hot water, ruining my cabinet baseboards. I have since had two service calls canceled at the end of the time designated and today I have no technician showing up. Customer no-service is saying technician tried to call me; I have rec'd no call and have no message left. I have taken multiple days off work to sit at home waiting, and waiting. Purchased new GE dishwasher after previous model lasted over 11 years. Family eats most meals and home and typically runs washer at least 4 times per week. New model was upgrade with stainless steel interior and all the efficiency upgrades from technology advances. Ran great for first 18 months then suddenly we opened one morning and notices water standing in bottom of machine. Emptied dishes, re-ran with same result. Technician called and spent an hour diagnosing to determine water pump, control board and wash motor would all need to be replaced at a cost of nearly $600 or 75% of what we paid for the unit new less than 2 years ago. Simply unacceptable that GE would produce such an unreliable product. We will be replacing with a different brand and would tell anyone to avoid GE dishwashers.

I've followed the instructions on loading to ensure my dishes aren't blocking the water that is supposed to spray up and help distribute soap. Even though I select the dry function, my dishes are sopping wet when the cycle is finished. We have to catch the end of cycle and crack the dishwasher open to let the steam escape in order to cut down on the wet. Even then, we still have to dry dishes to put them up. It ended up taking 3 different technicians, ordering 3 different parts, at 3 different appointments before the problem was fixed (or so I thought). By the time I was able to use my dishwasher again, it was already the end of December and my 30 day return window expired. It is now mid January and I am already having the same problem as before and having to go through the whole process again. I purchased the dishwasher in August. In September, two months later, it would not drain. GE sent a service tech out under warranty who found food particles stuck in the drain pump, removed them, put the dishwasher back together and went on his way. Since then, we have been basically rinsing the dishes clean before even putting them into the dishwasher as, obviously, this dishwasher can't handle much. I have also been keeping the drain filter screen spotless. Two months later, the drain is clogged again. GE sent a second tech out who said that the first tech should have repaired the dishwasher.
The problem is that GE knows that the drain pump screen and the filter screens are inadequate and let food to pass through and block the pump. GE has redesigned the pump and the screens and filters and even added a filter to the design and we will get all these new parts installed for free and the dishwasher will then work as it should. Tech ordered the parts on 12/21. The service call was scheduled for tomorrow, 12/27. I got a call today from GE saying the parts had not been delivered. I know this because they are being shipped to my house and they have not arrived.
GE called to reschedule the service call to January 6th, 2020--another week and a half away!!!! Clearly, this dishwasher is not working as it should and GE has a problem on their hands. I am now weighing my options as I sit on hold on GE's Customer Service line as I wait for someone to complain to. But as the dishwasher is still only a few months old, I am tempted to load it up and bring it back to the big box retailer from whom I purchased it and demand a refund. This is ridiculous!!!!

The only appliance that GE makes that hasn't broken is the stove/oven that is over 10 years old and shows no signs of weakening.
I purchased the upgraded stainless steel model that contained all the bells and whistles. It lasted 1 year and 3 months before the entire control panel stopped working. We utilized the dishwasher about once a week or once every two weeks in a two person household. Hardly a rough environment for a 700$ appliance. They offered zero help as far as troubleshooting. I called a local repairman and was told he has had many similar issues with newer GE Dishwashers. We are throwing parts at the problem now trying to get it running. He also said repair assistance or troubleshooting from GE is very poor. Really not pleased having a less than 2 yr old major appliance not working. GE means JUNK to me.

Greetings fellow GE Appliances fans! I suppose you're all wondering why I gathered you here, so let me first say this wasn't Plan "A," which was to give GE Appliances a quiet and fair opportunity to set things right. After all it is Easter and we should all be grateful for second chances or, in GE's case, fifth chances. Now about halfway through the below some of you are going to wonder why I didn't switch to another brand sooner, but I've saved that answer for the end because, quite frankly, it's the absolute best part of the story. And since most stories have a hero I'll tell you why The Home Depot, where we purchased the GE dishwasher, is the hero of this tale.
On Feb 16, 2019 I purchased a new GE Dishwasher which was installed by GE. It subsequently overflowed causing approximately $18,000 in damage to the wood floors in our kitchen and our basement ceiling. GE's technician confirmed the cause was a defective factory drain pump and documented that GE was responsible for the damage. I was instructed to contact Sedgwick, their insurance claims administrator. We'll have more on that later.
On March 9 I received a 2nd GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect and subsequently overflowed and caused additional damage to our home. I hired an independent plumber who confirmed the installation and home plumbing were fine and that it was, in fact, a defect with the dishwasher. On March 15 I received a 3rd GE dishwasher, however it was damaged during shipment so GE was unable to install. On March 22 I received a 4th GE dishwasher which also had the drain defect, but we caught it in time to prevent another overflow.
On April 3 I received a 5th (yes, 5th) dishwasher which worked once (or so we thought) but as it turned out also had the drain defect. We caught it in time to prevent another overflow. We also had an independent plumber confirm (again) there were no issues with the installation or our home plumbing. This included disconnecting the dishwasher drain hose from the garbage disposal and pointing it into a bucket. The dishwasher simply would not drain.
At this point you're probably thinking how stupid it was for me to keep requesting replacements from GE and you would be correct...which brings me to my favorite part of the story. You see, even though GE refused to switch me to an entirely different GE model dishwasher line despite multiple requests, they promised to compensate us for our inconvenience which would take into account how long we went without a dishwasher (approaching two months now), how much work I missed (numerous vacation days) due to installation and repair appointments, and warned me that if I switched to another brand that their policy was to not compensate.
I can't tell you how much they repeatedly emphasized the compensation aspect, so when we finally received what we thought was a working dishwasher I called to request compensation. Their offer was (drum roll...) $25.00. I literally laughed out loud (LLOL'd). To be fair, after expressing some slight dissatisfaction with their offer, they raised it some but it's not worthy of an additional drum roll.
Fast forward to today (Apr 21, 2019) and we still have a defective GE dishwasher in our home and are still washing dishes by hand which, for a family of four, is no small daily task. GE was actually supposed to remove the dishwasher from our home yesterday, but arrived and said they couldn't because our replacement dishwasher (a Bosch...we gave up on GE) had not arrived. They already knew this before they came because: 1. We told them and; 2...wait for it...THEY were the ones supposed to deliver and install it. We've been courteous, patient, and have done everything GE asked, but have been treated very poorly in return. I will say that most, but definitely not everyone I spoke with at GE Appliances, was polite however none of them seemed to be empowered to truly help us.
As for Sedgwick (GE's insurance claims administrator): we're still waiting for them to pay for the approximately $18,000 in damage to our home. Our wood floors are turning black and there's now a musty smell in our finished basement. It's been approximately 52 days and I'm starting to doubt they're ever going to pay for the damage to our family's home.
I'm sure some of you will say you've had GE products for years with no problems, so let me say that I'm genuinely happy for you. We were, and somewhat reluctantly still are, a GE family. The last three custom homes we've built, including our current home, all had GE appliances by choice. But in the last five years we've had the original dishwasher in our brand new home break in just three years (heating element) which is what started this replacement debacle, the fan motor on our brand new refrigerator break in just four years costing us several hundred dollars in groceries and a $200 repair bill (and it's starting to make the same loud noise again so may fail again soon), and a glass defect in the microwave within two years of purchase.
As for the hero of this story, The Home Depot, I simply can't say enough good things about the store and their management team. Even though this was not their fault they apologized, agreed to switch us to another dishwasher brand, and paid the difference in price (even though we volunteered to pay the difference ourselves). They made it clear we were valued and said "you are our customer and we are going to help you."
GE must have known The Home Depot would do this, because GE is the one who told us to call and suggested The Home Depot might do "something" for us...something GE apparently wasn't willing to do themselves. For now it seems that GE Appliances not only mistreated our family, but The Home Depot as well. I'm not suggesting that you should or should not buy GE appliances, but IF you do and IF it's defective and IF it damages your home then buckle up. It may be a long, painful, and stressful ride with no end in sight.

The dishwasher malfunctioned and flooded our home. The dishwasher continued to run even with the door open and the display showing “leak detected”. We had started it before we left the house and it had been running for about 20 minutes when we left. When we came home hours later, hot water was still being produced by the dishwasher and had flooded our kitchen and basement. We could not stop the dishwasher with buttons at that point and had turn off electrical and water supply to it. The absolute worst part is they will not replace or refund it even though it’s less than six months old. They are only offering to service it and expect me to continue using it.

Have a six-year-old GE Tall Tub "Café" dishwasher (model#GHDT168V00SS) I purchased at Home Depot in Denver. Also purchased a 5 Year Extended Warranty that I assumed was through GE's Extended Warranty Opportunity. The dishwasher suddenly began leaking and ruined our hardwood floors (I know, wood floors in kitchen not good; tell that to the builder). I called GE's customer care number and basically talked to a scripted robot. "You don't have a warranty through GE, it's a third-part insurer such as Assurant," I was told.
Not worth repairing, and the warranty expired a few months ago. I know parts wear out, but for heaven's sake, can't they build a dishwasher that doesn't leak from the bottom, underneath the unit, where water will seep unbeknownst to people, eventually destroying the floor? Guess not. So, no more GE appliances EVER. PERIOD! Switched to Samsung, LG and Maytag. Now, gotta spend a couple grand ($2K+) to repair the hardwood floor.

I purchased this dishwasher in Sept 2017. Today after normal use, the motor stopped and it leaked a full load of water into my basement. I called GE service and got no satisfaction. "It's out of warranty after 12 months". I then called their "customer care" department who really don't care very much. They wanted a GE tech to look at the dishwasher for a fee of $109. Then they offered 50% discount on parts. In the past, GE was always a reliable brand but no longer. Stay away from their dishwashers and every other appliance they make. It is not the GE of old. I just purchased a KitchenAid dishwasher and hopefully, that will work better.

Super sad about the performance of this dishwasher. This is the second leak in a year. The first time my husband fixed with new GE pump because we wanted the dishwasher up and running and the scheduled repair time was out more than a week. We were also told there would be no reimbursement to the damage to the brand new floor that was damaged. This time I REFUSE to have him fix the dishwasher even though once again the repair time is out more than a week. The cost of this dishwasher should warrant a functioning product.

So I was forewarned by my family of nightmare experiences they had with GE appliances over the course of the last 50 years of our family. I just bought a home with 2 GE dishwashers that are both under 5 years old, and both are malfunctioning terribly. The one has leaked from the bottom and created severe water damage, and the other will not drain. Just an affirmation of the bad experiences my family has had in the past. Cheaply made, and often the go to appliances installed in manufactured and new homes. Had a service technician come out after speaking with GE on the phone and they assured me it was cost free. After the technician came out and told me I was being billed $105 for the call, and it would cost an additional $255 to fix the washing machine. The tech was not very friendly or helpful, and his only concern was collecting the bill. Avoid these products!

We purchased the GE Cafe series appliances back in mid-2016 (dishwasher, dual oven gas range and microwave). Over that time period we have had at least 10 repair claims. The dishwasher front door and seal have been replaced three times, has ruined my wood floors and baseboards. The gas range has had multiple issues, including broken lights, broken fan, and a manufacturer's defect in the lower oven igniter which took our reseller and third-party warranty company three weeks to repair. The microwave oven had a plastic cover just break off one day - wasn't touched before - it just cracked off!
Fortunately we purchased the units through Home Depot and purchased their extended warranty program. Unfortunately the warranty company doesn't replace units and won't include claims during the manufacturer's 1-year warranty period in their lemon law policy. I've repeatedly tried getting touch with the manufacturer, but they appear to be staying high-and-dry away from consumer grievances.
GE doesn't stand behind their products. I don't think their resellers give a rip either. My advice - stay away from GE. If you're in the market for something I'd look at LG. I have a refrigerator, washer and dryer from LG and have had zero issues in nearly 10 years of service. I have no idea if their reliability covers dishwashers, but I'd certainly take a look.

This is occurring even with a good rinse prior to placing them into the dishwasher. I clean out the food particles filter after every two loads, makes no difference. Also the water bottle jets are a nice idea but water bottles are too tall to fit even with the third rack removed. I am very displeased with my purchase. This was not an inexpensive model.

This week we noticed a small amount of water seeping from under the cabinet. We pulled the dishwasher out and saw a very slow leak from a part of the dishwasher. Called GE and was told it was no longer under warranty. Explained leak has had to have been going on for months so should fall under warranty. Was told because we didn’t notice probably would not be. GE customer service suggested replacing hinges and brackets on the door. So I ordered the parts and changed them. It did not work. I called them back and they suggested purchasing and replacing additional parts. I called a local 3rd party and they provided the service bulletin and said that this is a problem in the design of these models. GE will not repair the problem.
The cost has been shifted to me or they suggest buying a new dishwasher for only $150 over retail. They are hiding behind a warranty that expired, but the problem started at time zero when it was made. This is garbage and I have been without a working unit and continuing to argue with them over the repair or replacement cost. Call if you have this problem because they have identified it and have a solution that they will not tell you about.

Original Review: Purchased from Home Depot. I have had it for only one month used 4 times. The water did not drain. Called GE Repair. Guy came down, couldn’t figure out what was going on, said it must be the pump or it could be blocked. He went downstairs, could not find the pipe. Been there since 69...said he is going to order part. Waited 1 week. Then he calls me an hour before he was to be here. Mind you I took off work to be there. He said, “Did you have plumber to come in to see if there is a blockage and he needs to show you where the connection is?” Are you kidding me. I told him I am handicapped and having company for Christmas and I need it. He said he can’t come until I hire a plumber as he can’t find the dishwasher connections. Are you kidding?
I said, “Can you come and install the pump and if it doesn’t drain then I will call the plumber.” He said no as he can’t find the connection...I am going to put 150 to have a plumber come when I know it’s the pump not a blockage to have the plumber show me where the dishwasher is connected because the idiot can’t figure it out. I said I need it for Christmas. Nobody working until next Wednesday. Do not get a GE. Poor customer service and to break down a few weeks after purchasing is unacceptable. I had A Bosch for 6 years, never a problem. Plus the lower rack tracks already fell apart. I live by myself and does not get much use. I read the reviews and should have known. GE factory services uses rude, discriminatory, evasive, procrastinating and unethical business practices to limit customers from claiming warranty. We have a non functioning dishwasher which is under warranty. This came as part of the appliance package given to us by the builder (Hallmark Homes) when we bought the house in December 2017. When we contacted GE customer service to let them know that the dishwasher wont work, they gave us a date after 2 weeks for sending their service professional. After 2 weeks, their service professional came in and behaved in an extremely rude and racist manner shouting at the top of his voice for the inconvenience caused to him for coming to repair the appliance.
After connecting his computer to the appliance, he said it was fixed and left without even checking if the appliance was working correctly. Even after repeated requests to check the functioning of the device before leaving, he threatened to be physically violent if we still pestered him to stay. After he left, we realized that the dishwasher wasn't fixed when we ran a wash cycle. We again contacted the customer service to let them know that the issue isn't fixed and requested them to expedite things to get it fixed.
They said that we will get the next date for a service appointment again after two weeks and there is nothing they could do. After living the nightmare of washing dishes for more than a month, the same service professional came in again and repeating his similar rude, racist, unethical and threatening behavior left without fixing the issue. He said that GE appliance is not owned by GE anymore and hence nobody cared about what happens to the customers. He again passed the buck to the customer service and said I needed to take up this issue with them. In this whole back and fort, we are left devastated without having our dishwasher and living the nightmare for more than a month.

We purchased several new GE appliances in August of 2016 as part of a kitchen renovation. We bought the GE Cafe series dishwasher CDT865SSJOSS. Within two weeks of use, the display stopped working. It took 3 weeks to get a technician out to fix display. Approximately 6 months later, we noticed the dishes were not as clean. Two months later the water stopped draining. Called a technician in, he diagnosed a broken pump. Parts would take 3 weeks and he would be out a week later. We are now over a month without a working dishwasher. He “fixes” the pump but says it isn’t draining great because your hose from your disposal is plugged (this hose drains to the same place as the dishwasher).
Hire a guy to unplug the drain ($140). It isn’t plugged. The whole house is clear. Have to Shopvac out the stagnant water from the dishwasher that smells like a corpse. Call our plumber to check the lines ($500). He discovers that the technician pushed in the washer and busted a line. We now have water damage through our floor and into a bedroom below. He confirms that the plumbing is all clear and also finds that the technician never reattached the pan to the bottom so water was hitting the sensor and activating the shut off for a leak.
Plumber fixes plumbing wrecked by technician, dries the sensor and attaches the pan. He advises that we run several cycles to flush out the stagnant water. If water still is not draining after several cycles, he advised that the new pump was faulty. Plumber leaves. We get 10 minutes into a cycle and the dishwasher stops for a leak again. I called GE hoping they would stand behind their product that we have now had for 2 years and have used less than a year. GE does not stand behind their products. The only thing they will do is send out a technician that you have to pay $100 for and they can’t guarantee that you won’t get the same technician who has come out 3 times and cost us more money due to his negligence. "We don't have an authorized service technician in your area. We will get back to you within 3-5 days." Three days later, after I had raised rain with my appliance dealer, he arranged for a local dealer to come look at the machine. Scheduled that appointment - it was Friday, and "We only come to your area on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Next Tuesday is booked, so we will try for Friday." Then, someone from an organization called Platinum Services calls and says GE has assigned the ticket to them. She's going to try to schedule a diagnostic appointment in the next 7-10 BUSINESS days. Told her to forget it (found out she was calling from Lowe's and had to find a technician before she could schedule.) End of week 1.
Following week, someone else from GE calls and asks if I was cancelling my service request. In the course of the conversation, she asks to confirm the model GE RANGE that I have. Kinda lost it on her... On Thursday serviceman from local dealer comes. Turns on the dishwasher - it leaks exactly where I had said it would. Need to order a part and GE will not expedite. End of week 2. Next week - crickets. Nothing, Nada, mushroom mode (in the dark and being fed BS). Called my appliance dealer today and told him to come pick up the dishwasher - says he cannot do that.
I explained, “I will forfeit the money I paid - I don't want a dishwasher that leaks in the first two months of use.” He tell me GE "released" the part yesterday...whatever THAT means and he HOPES repairman will come next Tuesday to repair. So, I have had a new GE dishwasher for 3 months and it has only worked for 2. Be aware! A week later the second dishwasher came, it looked fine from the outside so I signed for it. Once I opened it I saw that the top rack was missing wheels and the second shelf wasn't even connected to the dishwasher. I called and a week later they came and got it and left a new one. I asked the delivery guys to unpackage it and look inside. Immediately the top arm cycle fell off and the HE symbol at the bottom popped out. They assured me that was normal...
When the install guy arrived a week later he said he thought everything looked ok. He ran a cycle, then left. Before he was out of my driveway the cycle arm/water sprayer fell off and water sprayed everywhere... I brought the piece into Home Depot and they told me it was broken (duh) and they would order a new one. NO. This was going to be the fourth time I will be taking off work to deal with this dishwasher! GE is absolutely gone down. The products being produced are either being sabotaged by the employees from the Ohio plant, who are all losing their jobs because the plant is about to get shut down and is going to be moved to Mexico or GE is absolutely horrible at business, design and producing quality appliances.
Regardless, I will NEVER purchase a GE product again and would never recommend to anyone to purchase a GE appliance! I am going to get a refund and insist compensation and inconvenience fees! Also, a month with a broken one sitting in my living room because they wouldn't come get the 2nd and 3rd broken dishwashers until a I ordered another one and had that one delivered before they got the broke one(s) out of my house. I had broken dishwashers sitting in my living room for a month. Easter was quite embarrassing with an appliance next to the table to say the least. DO NOT PURCHASE GE APPLIANCES!!!

Bought a GE Dishwasher on March 31st 2017. Used it in April & May, left June 1st for the summer so dishwasher was not used for 2 mo. Tried to use it in August when we got back it didn't work. Would not pump water. Called GE. They sent a service tech. out, replaced the pump, still didn't work. So next week they came out again & this time ordered a Computer board. Ever since then they have came out twice a month to repair dishwasher. Always something different. I requested 3 different times to have it replaced they refused. So I straight up asked if they were just trying to run me out of warranty & then drop me. Well, guess what - they came out for the last time on 4/5/2018 to repair it for the last time out of warranty. They turned me down every time to just replace it. WORST PRODUCT EVER. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE. WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER, POOR POOR POOR.

Property 2 - Paid and confirmed with credit card, had to wait 24 hours and owner never approved the stay. Property 3 - Paid and confirmed with credit card, had to wait 24 hours and owner never approved the stay again! This is the epitome of absolute timewasting and mental frustration. SO, I use VRBO to find properties and then do a search on that particular property and book them through the property itself. It amazes me how a company like this can exist.

The dishwasher is poor quality. Top is thin, top dish rack has trouble with tall glasses. Bottom rack doesn't slide in and out well. The power cord and water cords are too short. They are 2 ft shorter than our previous model dishwasher. Top was loose when delivered and had the wrong screw in one of the holes. The hose and cords are difficult to hook up because they are so short. We can't fit as many dishes in as our previous model of the same size and the unbiased reviewers are saying its washing quality is poor. We haven't had it long and hate it. Home Depot won't take returns on portable dishwashers though. Out lots of money on this. This GE is thin plastic trash that costs lots of money with no return.

Bought at Lowe's (GE Slate GDT655SMJES Dishwasher). Even bought the extended warranty. Leaked and buckled the floor while it was under GE warranty on December 12. Had to file with our homeowner's insurance to get entire floor replaced, $1000 deductible, twice. They have been out 5 times and still not fixed. Now the new flooring is damaged from same leak. After nearly $5,000 of damages, not to mention the time we have spent you would think a new $700 dishwasher would be cheaper. We bought the refrigerator, double oven, convection stove and dishwasher, matching. At this point seriously considering buying a different brand of dishwasher even though it won't match the slate. Never will we buy GE again, they don't stand behind their product, disappointed in Lowe's as well for passing the buck.

Purchased new from Lowe's. Dishwasher leaked starting less than a month after purchase. I have had it serviced 3 times since purchase and have another appointment scheduled. (It takes 2-4 weeks to get a tech out to your house). Currently they say he is going to come by on Tues and check to see which part to order next and then they will come back and work on the dishwasher when the part comes in. (Of course the dishwasher is leaking as I wait). They give a 8-5 service window so I will just have to sit here and wait on him to come by and decide what to order. This is pathetic. When you buy a new GE appliance you need to be aware that they literally do not have any program for replacing flawed appliances.

First off: GE doesn't make some parts for this model anymore. The unit is large compared to many others; the upper tray provides adjustable height; one of the set of "spikes" in the upper tray rusted out because of inadequate plastic coating, and no replacement was available from GE; the control panel on the top edge of the door failed within warranty period and was replaced free; the holes in the rotating arms that spew water upwards onto the dishes must be cleaned with tweezers to remove bits of paper from labels. Those are all the negatives. The positives are that it is very quiet; a cycle takes about an hour; it cleans dishes well so long as they are not hidden from the water jets; pre-rinsing can help but is not necessary. I would buy it again.

A horrible rumbling sound, which they came out and repaired promptly. However, more upsetting is the constant problems we have experienced with the dishwasher. The door gasket broke, which we were informed was not covered under warranty, and most recently the dishwasher stop cleaning and will no longer dry. Each time we tried to make an appointment we were always given a date 1 week out and a 4 hour time window, but each time the technicians showed up late and once even 3 hours late despite the 4 hour window. I purchased a stainless steel GE dishwasher for $508.68 since I remodeled my kitchen October 2016, I contacted GE in March 2017 because the stainless steel on the dishwasher door started to have rust spots, they sent a technician to look at it, they told me that they cannot replace it because the aesthetic warranty is only good for 30 days. They authorized the technician to replace the door, however I have the same issue with the new door, and also the dishwasher stopped working. I contacted them again. The technician was able to fix the dishwasher, but as far as the stains on the door they told me that's an aesthetic issue. They can't do anything about it. I called the consumer relations department. I spoke with CIARA GE case # **. They offered me a small discount and I have to come up with $400.00 to buy a new dishwasher.
I feel that a good business should always stand behind its products. The dishwasher obviously is defective, they sold me an appliance that supposed to be stainless steel but it's something else, the right thing for GE to do is to exchange the defective product for the right one. I am very frustrated that in less than a year I have to spend over $900.00 for a dishwasher. I am great customer for GE, I remodeled my kitchen, I purchased a GE refrigerator, cooktop, oven, kitchen hood, microwave and dishwasher, I think I deserve better than a small discount for a defective product.

GE dishwasher GDT680SSH2SS - I don’t normally do product reviews... In this case, I am making an exception. This is without a doubt the very worst dishwasher I have EVER owned. It flooded my kitchen and ruined my floor. My homeowner's insurance sued GE. I think it worked fine for only 6 months...then it went downhill. It is extremely loud! It sounds like your dishes are being destroyed... No, I’m not exaggerating!
I have NEVER had issues like this. I bought this GE as I really like the screen bottom so that large particles didn’t get caught up inside the pump etc... As I’m typing this, I have it set for Sani wash and the water isn’t hot at all, and it had standing clean water in the bottom when I opened it up this morning. I will also note, I rinse all my dishes before putting them in. I will never buy GE anything again.

I bought a GE Adora dishwasher from Home Depot. There is nothing technically wrong with it - in other words - it is not malfunctioning. It is just that its normal operation is AWFUL, in my opinion. The PROS: it is very quiet. The CONS: it does not clean your dishes! And since this is the primary function of a dishwasher - I would say it is a complete failure. Originally, I had hard water, and I thought that was probably the issue. I purchased a whole home Kinetico system, which remove almost all particulates from the water, and makes bottled-water-quality drinking water. (On a side-note, I would TOTALLY recommend the Kinetico system!) But even after having the water issues fixed, the dishwasher has NEVER worked properly.
I have used every type of dishwasher detergent, including Cascade Complete & Platinum, Finish Ultra & Quantum Powerball... and I have also added rinse agents etc. Basically - whatever state your dishes are in when you put them IN the dishwasher, they will only be slightly improved when you remove them. Even if you SOAK the dishes first, they come out with all kinds of residue. It does an especially horrible job on glassware, but silverware is also terrible. And I have to re-wash by hand every coffee cup that comes out. I truly loathe this machine, and will replace as soon as I do enough research about a better brand & model.

I purchased this GE dishwasher May 2015 through Amazon. Immediately after installation I was having trouble where it kept beeping when I went to wash dishes. A repairman came out and said there was a recall on the control panel and he replaced - no charge. In July 2017 this dishwasher flooded onto my laminate floor. I found it in the morning when I woke up. An appliance repairman came out. Did not know why it flooded. No charge this time, but he made a few adjustments and it seemed fine. Then the bottom sprayer arm broke. The heat shields fell off and the arm melted. I had that replaced.
Then the washer would not dry - no matter what I did. Repairman came out. He did not have access to the GE computer program but made some suggestions. No charge. Dishwasher seemed to dry better for two weeks. Then in August it flooded again. A repairman came out. Ran the dishwasher, but it did not flood, so he did not know what the problem was. This time charged me $60 and said call if it floods again. Obviously I am afraid to run the dishwasher at night or when I am away in case it floods again. Plus the dishwasher is not drying completely.
I have contacted GE. Their response is: "Normally we don't do this because your warranty has expired already; however, I have a bit of a soft spot and think some extra consideration is due. I did a lot of research and came up with a couple options to help you out: I realize this is not ideal but we can extend to you our discount into any new model if you find it's not cost effective to repair. I found the 2017 comparable model for you." Really??? I don't want another GE. I want a refund as this is a piece of junk.
