Purchased these appliances when we moved to our new home in January 2008. The washer throws water on the floor if I have a very heavy load in it. The dryer kept having a noise. I had repairman here 3 times. He finally brought a Fisher & Paykel rep with him and he could not find my problem either; he replaced my dryer. That was late January 2010. In March, the new dryer started having a noise (sounds like a knock) after it heats up and now I am told there is no warranty on the new dryer. I would never buy another product from this company.

Double dish drawer dishwasher. We purchased the extended warranty (thank goodness) and have another year to go on it. When we first began to have problems with the dishwasher, we contacted the appliance store where we purchased. Since we had the extended warranty, it was processed through a different corporation. It took days for them to get anyone in our area approved to repair the dishwasher. Unfortunately, when the repairman came out the parts were computer modules on both drawers. It took weeks for the repair parts to be shipped from New Zealand. There is only one place in the US that handles all the repair parts for Fisher and Paykel. Must be a real run on repair parts if they can't keep them stocked.
Then we encountered the same problem again. The repairman came out and repaired them again. And, yes, the repairman tends to side with the company. They are the ones getting paid by the company, and since they are the store that sold it I am sure they have their reasons. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we have had to ask for the same repairs a third time. What are the odds of this happening 3 times in 9 months? This company (Fisher and Paykel) is not reputable, their products are made poorly, and I am so tired of having it down--especially tough during canning season last year.
So far every repair has been paid for under warranty. But the dishwasher has ruined my pots and pans and their finish. It has ruined our plates and glassware with the filming and ruined finish. I will have to purchase all new plates and glassware when we finally have to get a new dishwasher. I have had my Mirror pressure cooker for over 40 years. The finish on it has never had a problem until this dishwasher. It has ruined the metal. The handles on all of my pots and pans and utensils are ruined. How can one brand of dishwasher cause so many problems to items that have been useful and still have years ahead of them? It is mind boggling. You get into reading all their fine print, and sure enough they say that the dishwasher can have adverse effects on certain types of dishes. Hurray for them! (That was sarcasm.)

We bought the Fisher and Paykel washer and dryer less than two years ago. The dryer was not processing lint properly (it was storing it up in and around the lint filter box not in it). Also, there was a burning smell one day and the shiny interior of the drum was suddenly discolored. F&P covered the repair person replacing the drum and thermostats (apparently there are two of those). The new drum is a dull finish. I called to find out why it isn't shiny anymore and a very young and snotty customer service "lady" stated that she didn't see what the problem was as long as the clothes dried. I had to press her to the point of feeling exhausted to find out why the change.
Finally, a technician that I was not permitted to speak to (and I have to assume actually exits) told her there were problems with uniform drying from the shiny drum so they changed that. Also, the washing machine was always going out of balance and tossing water out onto the floor. This may help others having this problem. We found that you have to really play with the adjustable legs until you get it to the perfect set up then all that stops. Heaven forbid, you move your machine though (mark the floor). Also, try to keep the dryer hose to the outside as short as possible, as the dryer is seriously fussy about getting rid of lint.
Things seem to be working okay for now. I often run an extra rinse and spin on the clothes mainly because I have many pets but also because I didn't feel like all the detergent was coming out (I use only two tablespoons of a natural brand from the health food store which is low sudsing so I don't think it is the detergent). I usually put a little white vinegar in the extra rinse since we are not allowed to use fabric softener in these machines and I have not yet found a natural dryer sheet I like.
Seems like a lot of quirky stuff to deal with but our old set was the Neptune (also known as the moldtune), so it is still an improvement though my experience with F&P customer service is that they would test the patience of a saint. I remember my mother using a barrel-type washer and a hand ringer afterwards and she was always so relaxed and the laundry was always so clean and fresh. Makes me question technology and progress. And my folks never went into debt to buy a washer and dryer.

The first dishwasher was replaced for a faulty seal. My cost was service call and it took away $198 and $40. The second dishwasher is a nightmare. Insides fall apart and the plastic panel painted to match the stainless requires two cleaning products. I didn't know it was plastic, so now I have pitted grudge above each drawer. Customer service is snotty, defensive and doesn't give one flying rat’s ** about how anyone regards the product. Frankly, I hope I don't have a service person try and sell me one again. I have a washer dryer by them and they are great. Why they don't give more attention to customer service and the quality of the product on the dishwasher is beyond me.
This resulted to expense of service calls. I have had four. I now have a Fisher bleep that requires another service call, so I just use the other drawer. I am single and use the darn thing once every other day. God forbid I had a family. Time is money. I shouldn't have to give up my sales time to sit and wait for repair people. I paid $40.00 a service call each time someone came out plus the take away charge. We have to give them a three-hour window, so figure the loss.

We too were told that Fisher Paykel products were top of the line. So four years ago when we moved to our new home we bought all Fisher Paykel appliances - oven, stove top, double drawer dishwasher, washer and dryer (thank goodness they didn't carry the type of refrigerator we wanted). The stove top constantly clicks, the oven takes 'forever' to heat up to even 300, we've had to have our dishwasher repaired twice, the washer doesn't get our clothes clean and today the dryer went out for the fourth time.
Tomorrow, we are buying a basic American made clothes dryer that I know will last more than three years (that was when our dryer went out the first time). I am not going to sink another dime in repairs for any of this junk. Customer service is unknown to this company. Never ever will I buy or recommend Fisher Paykel to anyone. These appliances are very expensive. Parts and repair service is expensive. We are both retired on fixed, limited incomes and thought that buying what we thought were top of the line appliances would pay for themselves by their reliability. Now we are faced with repair bills or replacement bills that we struggle to meet.

I bought a Fisher and Paykel washer and dryer in August 2003 because it was recommended by Consumer Reports. By 2008, it needed a major repair costing about 50% of the original purchase price. By 2009, it needed another repair. Now, in 2010, it is leaking. This is a horrible product and the customer service is just as bad. I'll never buy another Fisher and Paykel product.

I've been horrified to read so many complaints that mirror mine regarding Fisher Paykel products. I own the double drawer dishwasher and the stovetop, both bought within the past three years. The double dishwasher is a great concept that absolutely does not deliver. From day one, the dishes have never been clean unless I scrub them before putting them in the drawer. Neither drawer reliably drains, leaving a stinking, unsanitary layer of 1" deep water in the drawer. The top drawer has broken down several times and the reason is always "operator error." Sometimes, the drawers won't unlock. Exactly the same complaints others have mentioned above. The stove top clicks endlessly. It's so annoying I can't use some of the burners. I would never buy or recommend a Fisher Paykel product again and look forward to replacing mine and having functional appliances again.

My husband and I purchased a Fisher and Paykel clothes dryer from Lowes in October 2008. On the anniversary date in October 2009, I made a call to the repairman for the third time. I also purchased the extended warranty. I was told that if a repair has to be made for the third time for the same repair, then we would be able to get another dryer, even another brand. This was basically ignored.
When this dryer is working properly it does not get things dry. The timed drying is slightly better than the censored drying cycle. If I have a lot of laundry, it is actually quicker to hang things up to dry. The sales person said that the lint was scraped into a bucket when actually it is blown into this bucket.
Our old dryer lasted for years. We had hoped that if we purchased a high end dryer that it would last us for a long time. The cost of this dryer was substantial. The loss of the money we wasted on a Fisher Paykel dryer would have purchased another brand with money to spare and would have preformed better!

Fisher Paykel is the worst dishwasher made. Because of a bad back, I needed dish drawers on each side of the sink. I was assured by the sales man that Fisher & Paykel was the best on the market. They cost a ton of money. Each year something new was wrong with them. Each year they were under warranty, the company fixed them but the minute they went out of warranty, the cost to fix exceeded the cost to purchase. Customer service representatives are totally rude. The products are nothing but garbage. Do no buy Fisher Paykel. They do not stand behind their product. You cannot get a guarantee after the original warranty period is up. I spent over $1,500 to replace the dish drawers with conventional dishwashers.

After reading all of the other postings from other unfortunate buyers of these products, I realized that my mistake was listening to the Lowe's salesperson. We were told that the DD dishwasher was top of the line. The only thing that has been top of the line is the cost. This is our second repair experience and I feel lucky after reading all of the other postings.
Since we are still under warranty for a few more months we can hang on until the warranty expires before replacing this appliance. I was sold on the "draw" concept, but reliability on this machine is terrible. The customer service representative also indicated that most problems with the machines are because of operator error. I am wondering how difficult it is to load a dishwasher and put in the powder, but apparently, they feel that this is the source of all of the "F1" difficulties. We will never buy any of these products again.

Fisher and Paykel. Nothing but Rubbish! I purchased an expensive Fisher & Paykel frig that made loud crackling noises in the casing and barely kept the food cold. I rang the company and they told me that their products never break down and if they came out and checked it and there was nothing wrong, I would be up for exorbitant costs.
I later asked my air-conditioner installer at another time to look at it. His gauges showed that the frig was warm. He refused to fix it because he told me in his opinion the Fisher and Paykel brand was the worst in the world and that they used old technology but trendy styling and expensive marketing to trick the public. He advised me to throw the frig in a ditch and buy something else.
I spoke to several second hand retailers and new appliances retailers and they also advised me to stay clear of this brand. I eventually traded it in for another brand frig that really does cool down the food, and noticed that my electricity bill also went down by half immediately. About 2 years ago, I moved into another house that came with all Fisher and Paykel appliances. Over the next 18 months, they all broke. There were: the dryer, the frig, the freezer, the bar frig, and the dishwasher. I bought a replacement Fisher and Paykel frig that had to be repaired 11 months after purchase. That is a total of 7 Fisher and Paykel appliances that broke down over a 3-year period. So what do I think of Fisher and Paykel? Stay away from them, especially now that part of the company has been sold to China. The excess electricity I paid during the use of the first frig came to about $4000 dollars plus the original cost of the frig at $1800, plus the cost of a replacement frig is another $1200. The replacements and repairs for the other 5 appliances came to another $4000. Total money wasted because of Fisher and Paykel appliances is $11,000.

I purchased for $800.00 a Fisher-Paykel top loading washer dryer set in November of 2007. The dryer has been repaired 6 times and now we are on number 7. Have been without a dryer this time for 4 weeks. The parts were ordered twice with missing pieces last week. I have had the motherboard replaced, the heating element twice, the pulley kit and now the drum bearings are out. Whoever heard of drum bearings going out in 2 years?
Speaking with their customer service people is a joke. No you can't speak to my supervisor and no you can't have his/her name. This dryer should have been replaced with the first malfunction 3 months after purchase. But no. Two years and I am still trying to get a working dryer! I will be telling everyone we know and spreading the word through as many avenues as possible that Fisher-Paykel products are not worth spending a dime on.

Bought Top load dryer. Paid over $800 and after only 6 weeks, heating element went out. Again after 3 months and it continued to happen until November of 2009. When it happened the last time, we had bought dryer in 2007 and they had extended warranty, an extra year by that time. Right after Thanksgiving, we got a 2009 model top load. Expecting to have it be problem free. No. This past week same thing happened again. They are pure junk and were even told so by service man. We will be getting money back plus some additional expenses we have now.

I have a Fisher and Paykel washer and dryer. I can't recall how many years. I just love the set. The washer does beep if I overload. I have learned to put in less items. It cleans our clothes perfectly. Also, doesn't rip or tear items like our previous Maytag set. I have washed heavy items - rugs which was a mistake. That caused some damage to the motor housing. We ordered a new motor for less than $100, my husband installed. That is the only service issue. Never called a repairman. We are starting a kitchen renovation and likely will use Fisher and Paykel appliances. We've had such a good experience with the washer/dryer set. No other brand/appliance we've had has been as trouble free as Fisher and Paykel and we love their innovative designs.

I bought the washer dryer set 5 years ago. A year ago, the control panel fried out. They very nicely replaced it at no cost. 3 months later, it fried again. They determined it was the pump causing the panel to crash. They charged me for the service call and pump. They replaced the 2nd panel for free. How lucky I am! Now, the motor on the dryer is making a horrific noise!
I will call again tomorrow to see if they'll make good and stand by their product as they did not come cheap! If not, it is going to the dump and I'm off to purchase the most inexpensive dryer I can find. Fisher Pykel is a rip off! Never again. Funny enough the Kenmore set I bought my mother 16 years ago is still going strong!

I purchased a washer and a dryer both being Fisher/Paykel products and they were heavily recommended by our local Lowe's store. Needless to say, I will not ever purchase another Fisher/Paykel. They are less than six months old and I hate them. The dryer sounds like a bomb dropping and the washer constantly beeps, does not clean the clothes, mangles/tangles all the items, water spills over the drum and they will not hold enough clothes to count as efficient. They are definitely not energy savers. You have to wash everything twice. Too many noises, beeps, alarms and buttons. Company needs to recall all their makes and settle with the consumers. This is just bad business. It's just like I threw $1200 out the window and I'm stuck and can't afford to replace. Be smart. Do not purchase this brand.

I bought a new washer and dryer from The Great Indoors. Horrendous experience with wrong order being delivered, not honoring deliver rebates, etc. But that's another story. The washer did not work out of the box, needed a replacement pump. Now 3 months later, the dryer sounds like it got rocks in it. We'll see, F&P replaced the washer pump under warranty and I'll now go through the inconvenience of waiting around the house for the technician to come back on the dryer.

My Fisher & Paykel E522B refrigerator failed in November 2009 after less than 2 years of service and still under warranty (current warranty period is 1 year). By Nov. 25, the day after the technician's visit, F&P had agreed that it would be exchanged. When I called several days later, I was told that the service company would do the exchange. That sounded odd, so I checked with them and was told they had no refrigerators and never did exchanges. I informed F&P of this and they resumed looking for a company with a fridge in stock. The store where I had bought the fridge had one, so I let F&P know. But a week later, F&P again suggested that the service company would do the exchange!
With the help of my local store, I was able to get the fridge replaced 3 weeks after F&P agreed to do it. Throughout this process, I was never able to reach the supervisor who was handling my case, but was told I would get a call in 24-48 hours. This never happened. The most generous conclusion I can make about F&P Customer Service is that they are either incompetent or completely overwhelmed.

I have read many horrible reviews of the F&P washers. I fortunately have not had the same experience and wanted to post it. I have had the GWL10 model for about 7 years. Something broke on it early on and was fixed by an authorized repairman, who did not know much about F&P at the time under warranty. I additionally have had a few interactions with the customer service in which they walked me through the steps to clean the machine. Until recently it has not had any problems in operation although I never really felt like it got our clothes truly clean. I moved to an area with very hard water a year ago. Recently it began dripping water into the wash tub. I feel that I have read enough reviews online that I will probably be able to fix it myself provided that I can find the parts. Although my story is not as bad as so many of you, the one area I agree is that I will not buy another F&P product.

4.5 years ago we bought a Fisher and Paykel washer. We have had 3 service calls on it and the mother board has gone out at least twice. My daughter also has that washer and the board has gone out once. Seems like we have an engineering problem. I am waiting patiently for Fisher and Paykel to replace the board which is under warranty. They have dropped the people who have serviced my washer, so we now have to find out their authorized service provider. I don't want to pay another $86 service charge to have the board replaced (throwing good money after bad). Don’t buy a Fisher & Paykel washer or any other product from what I see in this web page. I paid $649 for the washer and $86 so far in service in 4.5 years.

We purchased a DCS 48" Stainless Steel Range and have had repeated problems, many exactly the same as reported here and on other sites. I wish I had read these before purchasing as the dealers clearly are incentivized not to reveal about the products very spotty performance record. The range is unreliable, with several reoccurring repair issues. The most notable being, the broiler, the burners and the oven temperature control. There is always something malfunctioning or breaking all together. I have never experienced such a low quality product and want to warn others. It is not an inexpensive product and due to its poor quality, be prepared to pay regular, high repair costs as Fisher Paykel who does not back up evident quality and design flaws. Service people will confirm that DCS ranges require service often and are difficult to fix (more time and money) and expensive to fix due to poor design and unreliable construction.
The broiler is very poorly designed as are the burners. A vital operating piece (glass ignition) is not protected and breaks for normal oven use. The electric ignition of the burners often break. I've had the oven temperature regulator replaced but it still is inaccurate and inconsistent. Everything takes longer. We spent over $6500 thinking it would be a high quality, commercial grade range. The only redeeming quality is that it looks nice. Before you buy, research what other owners have said on the internet. Clearly there are many dissatisfied owners with horrible product and company complaints. The company is clearly as broken as the products. They do not recognize inherent engineering and design issues. Invest wisely and stay away from DCS! I don't think they will be in business much. That's the only bright side!

In Aug 2009, I needed a service call on my 9-year old FP washer and one of two 6-year old dish drawers. The washer was repaired and is working with no further problems. The repairman could not get the dish drawer to malfunction, so he could not fix it. He said to call him if it malfunctioned again. It did. He returned on Sept. 22, 2009, found the problem and said he would order the part (an "electric eye" in the door that allows it to turn on). Three weeks later, Oct. 22, I called to check on the status and got a recording. "We are on vacation and will return in 3 weeks". I called 3 weeks later, got a recording, "we will be in on Monday. Please leave a message". I called every Monday and heard the same message until Dec. 5, when I called and surprise, surprise, the number is temporarily disconnected!
Here I sit with one operable dish drawer. I am a widow, living alone, so it isn't a great inconvenience. Fischer Paykel have been giving me the runaround and continue to only service this dishwasher instead of replacing it. I asked how many times they have to come out before replacing. Fisher & Paykel DEGX1 dryer purchased almost 2 years ago. There is a recent post which sounded much like our experience. We have been without a dryer for over a month. They, Ed the customer service guy in the U.S., finally approved a replacement dryer over three weeks ago. Where is the new dryer? They can't tell me a delivery date, a person in the U.S. to talk to, nothing.
In the meantime, my dryer sits in my laundry room completely taken apart, the drum is on the floor outside the dryer. We are a family of 5 and needless to say a horrible experience. We purchased a $600 Fisher Paykel EcoSmart GWL11 in Dec 03. It ran great for about 4 years. Then in Apr ’08, we had a pump seal leak into the motor causing a short of the circuit board. It cost $377 to repair. Then Jul ’09, we had to have water valve replaced for $218. So, the now $1,200 investment has failed again. It looks like the circuit board again will need replacing for another $400.
We are a family of 4 with fairly normal laundry habits. So needless to say, we are very disappointed in the cost of this machine. I bought a Fisher Paykel GWL15US small washing machine 4-5 years ago as I was attracted to the direct drive motor system. Today, December 4, 2009, the unit has been making grinding/clicking noises in wash cycle and we have concerns. After reading other comments, we will probably trash this unit and spend the money on a cheap standard American made rebuilt unit, as they have always lasted 10-15 years easy. Fisher & Paykel could care less, the "authorized repair center" is getting a bad rap because they have to buy overpriced parts and spend a lot of time rebuilding a machine that shouldn't have fallen apart after such a short time. Customer service representatives are abysmal. I am a custom home builder and used to recommend Fisher & Paykel appliances to all of my customers because they seemed to be cutting edge and well made. I was terribly mistaken and will never recommend them again. Exorbitant repair bills, burned lint as a result of design flaws ruined about $500.00 worth of clothes by leaving black soot lines on the clothes.

After my own experience and reading some of these others, I see that Fisher & Paykel really do give the consumer the run around. I’m not imagining it! My $800 dryer broke after only 4 years and I used the repair shop that the F&P company recommended when I called as I live in a very rural area. The repairman told me that this model dryer (DEG-X1) has a faulty heating element and he would order an upgrade kit for it that the company had let him know was available. Sure enough, the heater element was shot when he took it out, (I took pictures of it with all its broken springs), and the bearing was worn out which is why it was so noisy. The large ring lint filter was also broken, which is why it collected so little lint, most of it flying out the vent.
This after only 4 years for laundry for a family of 4. The cost of the parts? $240.00 plus labor. So, my $800 dryer cost $500 to fix 4 years later. The repairman recommended I call the company and try to get reimbursed for parts. I was told by F&P they never reimburse a customer no matter what and I should not have paid if I did not like the price. Finally, the woman on the phone told me she would consult with managers and get back to me in 3 days - that never happened. A week and half later I called her back - same woman. It was clear she had just blown me off and had no intention of helping me and made it clear that would not change. Meanwhile, the old cheap American made dryer this one had replaced had been 12 years old when it started to go. I don't know which was worse, the unit or the customer service. Fisher & Paykel was definitely not worth the money. This is a lot of money to pay to repair a 4-year old dryer. I did it because I live in a state park area with no public laundromats.

I have had the F1 complaint numerous times. I have the double drawer dishwasher. It was replaced about two years ago because the other one had been recalled as the metal outside had been bad. Well, after a month and $250 to install, we got the new machine. I think I have done about ten loads in the thing in two years. F1 is so bad I have to cut power to it to get it to shut up. Luckily, we have an American dishwasher that just keeps on chugging along. I just left the repair person and it is another $350 to fix when the parts come in. From looking at this website, after this no more money will go into this machine. I will rip it out and landfill the thing. I have also found their customer service to be rude, short and unsympathetic about this. I, too, am up for a class action suit. Perhaps we should start with Lowe’s who tout us this is the best machine around. Why are they selling this junk anymore?

I moved into a house that had a new Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. I have had to have it repaired five times in the last two years. The pump has broken four times and the computer board on the lower unit now has to be replaced. This dishwasher is a piece of junk and is poorly engineered. My advice: don't buy a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher. It cost $300 each time it needs to be repaired.

Hi, my name is Karen. I had filed a complaint with you on Nov. 3rd, 2009 on Fisher & Paykel about my dishwasher. I am just giving you an update on my dishwasher and there isn’t one. Fisher & Paykel had told on Nov. 3rd, 2009, after I went through the complaint I had with my dishwasher, that they would have their corporate office contact me within 48 hours. It is Nov. 12th, 2009 and I have heard nothing from them. So, this just proves what a poor company this is and the products that they sell. I will be taking further action on this matter.

I bought a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher about 2 years ago from a local appliance store and it is the biggest piece of ** I have ever bought! I am 51 years old and have owned 6 homes and have had all different brands of dishwashers, but I have never had to have one serviced until I bought a Fisher & Paykel. I have had this dishwasher serviced 6-7 times in the last 2 years for pretty much the same problem (the famous F1 code). I finally called the company, who, by the way, must be all from Australia and very rude on the phone. As soon as I told the girl that I think that I got a lemon, she said she could not talk to me anymore because I said lemon, and that someone from their head office would call me.
You would think that after all the trouble I have had with the machine that they would want to replaced it knowing that there have been so many problems. Apparently, several other people that I have read about are having the same problem with the famous F1 code. They have terrible customer service and do not want to admit when there is a problem. I am still waiting for a response from them. They have 48 hours. I would not recommend anyone to buy one of these dishwashers. They are nothing but trouble.

I bought a washer/dryer pair from Lowe's in July 2005. Top of the line, great, nothing better. Nothing but garbage! It's the worst appliance purchase of my life. The washer has been worked on twice. Now the pump assembly is making terrible noises. The dryer failed 2 years into its use. The extended warranty people couldn't get the replacement / upgraded heaters and controllers.
We did without a dryer for more than 2 weeks, before I found the parts online, bought them, and repaired the unit myself. (We also spent 4 weeks of going to the laundromat to dry.) So much for Lowe's extended warranty, they were / are of no help either. Since then, the dryer has failed 4 more times. Reset this, move the drum here, etc. Last night was its final failure. I threw it outside and crushed it with my backhoe. (Yes, my wife is very mad at me today.) Too good an end for a worthless piece of equipment.
In conclusion, I called my friend to whom I gave our old GE dryer to over 4 years ago. They have 3 children. It dries at least 2 loads of clothes a day without fail. I bought it in 1992. I am going out right now to throw this Fisher Paykel junk into the dump and buy us a newer version of GE--a solid, dependable machine I am confident will last me more than 4 1/2 years at 1/2 the cost.

My Fisher Paykel two-drawer hardly ever does a clean load of dishes and occasionally will produce a clean load, maybe 20 percent of the time. It's terribly frustrating. And I find the customer complaint department sometimes rude, intimidating, and aggressive compared to the US people. I feel that I should get a new machine at the same cost, if not more. Some claim this is a good product, those that sell them.
Due to Fisher problems, I do not use bottom-drawer Fisher. I clean dishes before loading the machine. Machines that are 20 years old do better, and the Mielle, well, what can I say, superb. KitchenAid is good enough. Have fun, ladies and gents. My service person said to junk it! Model number is DD602.

Their motto: “Always blame the consumer, for you don't know how to operate our fancy machines.” Everything that any of our "authorized dealers" tell you is wrong, for they are not connected to us in anyway. It’s a third-party. They did it wrong, but you get the washer. 5 calls a year, that’s not bad enough for a $1300 machine. “All the other brands are just as bad.” This company is gone. Do not get suckered in by their looks until you read their largest market reviews. Also, they make all the dish-drawer models with other brands (KitchenAid) but are trying to hide behind other names. Don't get taken there either.
They could have fixed them, admit there was some defects, but they take the road rarely taking by smart American companies now and that is get and keep your loyalty for years, not months. In the end, they will be gone. They wrote their own obit in the last years. Too bad they will be laying all these people off, but they deserve it treating buyers of dishwashers 2 to 3 times than average like dirt.
A hunting buddy of mine is going to take his apart a double unit on YouTube--5 minutes of pure heaven, so stay tuned. He says their tubing: McDonald’s makes stronger plastic tubes (straws). Ask for the name of the customer relations manager, they won't even give it. You know it’s bad then. Do all this before you buy, if you’re still leaning that way. I am in no way a competitor, just another burned customer.
This has resulted to days of lost work, 5 between wife and I every year. Damaged parts of home and tile floor. Crude and demeaning behavior by employees that their product is actually "high end, maybe not for you.” I bought on looks. Don't do it. You will flush the cost of this and damage parts of your house. They will blame you over and over, and then they blame their authorized repair links from their site. They will never admit this product has the worst ratings for any single appliance in the world. You will never see 3-4 years service.

I purchase a Fisher Paykel DD dishwasher on June 1, 2005. Luckily, I got an extended warranty which is such ways I am told was a bad idea. From day one, we had issues with it. Installing was a pain and we had to get a technician out to assist. Within five months, the drawers were constantly flooding within themselves. I was taught how to use a vacuum to suck the water out and then let the drawers dry completely before techs would come out. Since then, I have had a minimum of 36 calls with the drawers being down more than up. This year alone, I average seeing the technicians four hours a month with then ordering parts which have rebuilt the units several times.
I called Fisher Paykel at their corporate offices and they would not talk to me, the consumer, but they would talk to the techs. I was told by corporate if the drawers broke down again, the unit would be replaced but they are refusing to do that. The newest from them is that I should have not purchased the extended warranty because that means they would continue repairs until June 1, 2010 and then they would consider a replacement (like that will happen). Wthin the month of September, the control boards were replaced, seals replaced as well as several other parts and within minutes of being installed, the F1 code started up again. New parts were again ordered and were installed last Friday, October 9th.
When the control panel did not work in one drawer but the other, I was given an option of which drawer I preferred to work while new parts came in again. I said at this point, the top would be my choice as I am getting ready to have surgery on my feet and will be in a cast for eight weeks. They actually got both drawers to work. That was at 5 pm. I left the house and returned at 10 pm. Within minutes of me walking past the thing, the F1 code was going again. Problem with turning off the dishwasher switch means have the power in my kitchen is off. There has to be a better product out there whose corporate offices support them.

It was not long before I had to place my first service call. To date, the washer has had 7 service calls and the dryer. Every time there is a service call, I am with out the washer for 2 to 4 weeks minimum. This is a huge inconvenience and the cost of having to go to a laundry mat. On one service call, the service guy told me if it were not for Fisher & Paykel, he would be with out a job.
The pump was a problem, I took it apart and found it was not assembled correctly and was missing shims on the rotor shaft. I fixed the pump and it has not been a problem. But every other board and sensor on the machine has failed. The rotor position sensor on the main motor has failed so many times, I now keep one on hand. I am amazed this company stays in business. We were sold a defective stove/oven by DCS. In the first four years we owned it, we had over six service calls for major things. One of which still plagues us today, that of the oven. From day number one, the oven heated slowly, but we thought that was just the way it was. Over the next four years, it got worse and worse until two years ago. I started calling trying to get customer support and technical support as to what might be the problem, now that it was just out of warranty.
They have continuously refused to help us out. It is now two years since we have been able to really use the oven because it takes like an hour to heat up and once it does, if you open the door to put your food in at the prescribed temperature, the ignitor glows red, but will not reheat the oven. And now, when it does try to reheat, it smells like gasoline. Because the economy has not been so kind to us, we have to do most of our own repairs and Fisher & Paykel who bought out DCS, refuses to help us. This is a $4000 oven/stove that is useless. I want my money back so we can replace the thing with one that works.

I purchased a Fisher and Paykel Gas Dryer in March of 2008 at a Sears Outlet store. After about a month, I noticed that the drum would often lock and would have to be opened manually. They give instructions on how to do this, but it seemed to be happening a lot. Then in January 2009 the drum wouldn't open at all. There were 2 companies that would service this machine and one came out. He had to order the part and 3 weeks later I had it fixed.
Then in July 2009, the heating elements went out and they had ordered me new elements. It was heating, it just took over an hour to dry a light load. The first company went out of business, so I tried the second company. Then even before the parts came in on August 3, 2009, the lid wouldn't open again. They came back out and couldn't get the drum open either. He had to order more parts. Weeks later, I was told they were on back order (they come from Australia) and they would let me know. I finally called Fisher and Paykel's number given in the back of the book, only to find out that it's a company in California who handles their service in the states.
They assured me that the parts would be there soon. She told me to have the serviceman call them directly so they can have a Fisher and Paykel tech walk them through the repair. Six weeks later I finally got the drum. The service guy came and took apart my dryer again, this time he was able to get my clothes that had been in the dryer for 6 weeks - yes they smelt and were moldy. Only this time he saw several more pieces were broken and he had to call the tech people at F & P to find out what to order and where it went since there were parts everywhere.
I then talked to the F & P service people and she assured me the parts would be sent soon. I kindly asked to speak to a supervisor to let them know I did not buy a factory refurbished machine, I certainly didn't want a basement refurbished machine done by someone who isn't even an employee of F & P. She called back to tell me that a supervisor would call me the next day, they did not. The same employee called me to tell me they would overnight the parts and have someone out there soon.
I once again asked for a supervisor, this time not so nicely. She wouldn't allow me to speak to anyone there but her. I then began calling a series of numbers at Sears, and lo and behold, the Sears outlet where I bought the machine was wonderful and had me come down and get a new machine (obviously I didn't choose this same brand). It should be delivered soon. The customer service with Fisher and Paykel was awful!

This amount could have bought a new dryer. It is now September 2009, and the dryer is not heating. So clothes are not drying again. I agreed that buying a high-end product is not worth it. This company should be sued for defective products.
I will call to see if there is a recall in effect for this dryer. If not, I will purchase another dryer and hope the washer lasts a while. I have had washers and dryers that lasted 20 years. I paid over $1800 for this washer and dryer, and it should have lasted a lot longer than 4 years.

All repairs were done over only a year's time. The washer works well now; however, the dryer continues to leave black streaks on clothing. I have had the front bearing repair kit replaced 4 times. F and P picked up the tab for parts and labor the last 2 times.
Two weeks ago, the streaks showed up again. I spoke with Steve **, the technical services rep, and he said that he would "switch out" the offending dryer for a new one. We were in need of replacing our old washer, which lasted us for over 10 years, so my husband researched the best washing machine for the money. He purchased a Fisher Paykel washing machine, the Ecosmart machine. We paid over $700.00 for it from Lowes, which the sales rep there stated that this was the best washer on the market.
After only having the machine for 4 months, it stopped working it wouldn't spin out anymore, which left us with a full machine, with clothes and water. So we contacted Fisher Paykel customer service in New Zealand. They told us that there was only one service repair company in our area. So my husband then contacted the service company and they stated that they will not be able to come look at our washer for at least a month. But then stated that they could possibly look at it sooner if we were to bring it to them. So my husband loaded up the washer and took it to them.
Unfortunately the repair company was the most unfriendly and unhelpful company we have ever had to deal with. We were told by the repair company that as soon as the washer was fixed, they would call us. We never received a call from them, instead we had to do all the calling and checking on our machine. They had my machine for almost a month. The control panel and pump went out on the machine. So my husband went into the repair company and picked it up. He brought it back home, hooked it up, and we began using it right away.
Only a short six months later, the machine did exactly the same thing. I called Fisher Paykel directly again very upset that we spent so much money on a product that keeps breaking down. They were extremely nasty on the phone and stated that we needed to contact the repair company in our area and they will look at the machine and repair it as needed. And that is all they can do for you. So I then called the repair company about coming out to service the washer, again I received the same thing, it will be at least a month before we could come and look at our machine but if we could bring it to them they may get a chance to look at it sooner.
So again my husband loaded up the machine, took it to them, and had to deal with poor customer service. Again they did not call we had to call them and after a long 3 weeks (almost 4 weeks), the machine was once again fixed. The problem was the same exact problem as the first time, the control panel and the pump. My husband brought the machine back and right away we were right back to using it. And guess what? Again, only 6 months later, it broke again exactly the same thing. So the machine was taken back to the repair company again and I made several phone calls to New Zealand. I spoke with, usually more than once with each individual, Laraine, Emily, John, Steven, and Kylee.
Along with these reps I also spoke with a few others that I did not get their names. I explained the situation several times and everytime I would get the runaround. Some of the individuals seemed as though they were trying to help but just got to the point where they wouldn't return phone calls. I have written down conversations with the individuals and requested, from Fisher & Paykel, all the information (my file), they have regarding my particular washing machine. Oh by the way, the washer needed a new control panel and also a new pump once again. We are so extremely frustrated with this machine, with Fisher & Paykel, and also with the repair company that we have to deal with.
But Kylee told my husband that she's sorry for all of our inconvenience but there's nothing she can do. The warranty states, per Kylee, that Fisher & Paykel has the right to repair their product whenever possible. Unfortunately for us, our warranty runs out January 2010 but out of courtesy from FP, they extended our warranty for 6 months longer and yet again for another 6 months. Also we have complained that because we have been without a machine for so long we have spent an overwhelming amount of money at the laundromat. Kylee stated that if we could supply her with the copies of the bills that she may be able to do something about reimburstment on the laundry services but couldn't give us a dollar amount.
At this point, I have requested all of our information from FP, the repair company, and I will be calling Lowes tomorrow to see what they can do if anything. Along with this complaint I am contacting the BBB. We feel that FP has no concern with their customers whatsoever and must really have a lot of money because they continually are throwing good money after bad, at least with our washer.

The removable filters get blocked easily and I have to clean the filth out. Scum appears in the bottom of trays. Wire trays don't fit and are badly designed to accommodate glasses etc.
The lower drawer bezel has cracked with just normal use. At least 30% of dishes need re-washing each day because they're just not clean. Their customer no-service people just refer me to local suppliers to fix (don't see what's fixable - it's just a lousy product).

In fact, I don't even know what it's like to have a double drawer dishwasher, as both drawers have worked maybe twice within the past 6 months. You name it; it's been a problem from water not draining, appliance not shutting off, running for 5 hours at a time, etc. It has been very hard to get an authorized service dealer out, as he seldom can be here after 4:00 and I work full time.
Consequently, I have had many times no working dishwasher. Supposedly, it is fixed now with this last service call, but I hold my breath every time I turn it on. I would never buy from this company again. As far as cleaning the dishes, I would never buy this product again.
My 15-year-old dishwasher did a much better job of cleaning the dishes, regardless of how you loaded it or what detergent you used. He fixed it but then a part broke off in his hands and he had to do a "McGyver" type of repair. FP said it was fine. How can it be fine? The repairman was not confident, so how can they be? We bought a Fisher Paykel washer six months or so ago to replace a washer that finally gave up the ghost. We got a matching dryer. The washcloths and towels don't get clean smelling. I've changed detergent and experimented with detergent amounts but the washcloths especially thick ones still smell bad after being washed and dried.
The smell activates when the washcloth is moistened for use. Using bleach seemed to help. Our old washer never produced smelly washcloths, or I never noticed. Also, a cleaned washcloth when wet prior to use, still smells like detergent. This occurs even on heavy duty wash cycle that has extra rinse cycles.
For some reason nothing else seems to have an unwashed smell after drying. In my opinion the agitator in the FP washer doesn't move clothing as vigorously as other washers. In fairness, our neighbor bought a FP washer right after we did and she said she's had no smell problems. (I may be extra sensitive to smell). Now my spouse says the FP dryer doesn't work on one cycle. We've called a repairman from the one merchant who sells FP. After reading comments, it will be interesting to see the outcome.

One has a failed rotor and the other a failed electronics board that filled my house with smoke. I have the lost the previous service invoices and the repair company has since gone out of business. F&P service center indicates I could be lying about previously incurred cost and will not stand behind their product for the issues it has now.

I went to superior appliance repair 212-221-9119 as per F&P website. They are listed as an authorized repair company. They have kept me hanging, saying the units and parts needed for repair are on backorder. I have been trying to get this repaired since March. The superior said they were waiting for parts to come in and reordered parts second time in April. It is now June.
I called to research the problem and the woman at F&P hung up on me. I finally called PC Richards and now they are investigating and trying to get this serviced. You should investigate this Fisher and Paykel company, there are hosts of complaints against them on the internet and this dishwasher unit per the appliance companies are lemons and break repeatedly in under a year.

I, too, purchased a Fisher Paykel washing machine two years ago. Within three months, under warranty and after several visits, a new "brain" was installed. Now the pump appears to have failed and I get a nice shower out of the lid whenever the last spin cycle comes on. I was thinking of replacing the pump until I read all the comments and I am not wasting money on something I will be having to repair again and again. I'll take it out back and teach it a lesson. It's unfortunate the company does not stand behind their products.

I bought a Fisher Paykel washer and dryer almost two years ago. Recently, it was beeping and telling me I'm not getting any water. $60 and a good service call later, I knew the problem. Fisher Paykel washer has certain awesome features. One is it won't pump out water from the bottom of the tub until you're filling it. It shuts off the machine so you don't have a flood. All it needed was the washer hose that the water drains from to be pulled out of the hose a bit. It seems when we cleaned and moved the dryer, someone had shoved the hose back in too far. Simple fix. Thank you very much, F&K!
Oh no, then something else happened. I got a message from my washer saying Error 37. I ran to Google, typed in the unit name, brand, and model number and the sentence, "Help, I'm not getting any water" and the fix instructions popped right up. It seems F&P pumps have a nifty built in protective program. I had a friend (who is a guy with a lot more muscle than me) tipped the washer over, unplugged the pump, twisted it off, and out fell a dime. He right twisted the pump back into locked, closed position, and reinstalled it. He plugged the pump in, righted and leveled the washer, and hit wash. It ran through the cycles beautifully. I love my washer and dryer!

I purchased a fisher Paykel dryer DEGX1 in 2007. This past April, I put a load of clothes to dry. I waited and waited for the signal to tell me my clothes were dry. To my shock it was not working. I contacted Fisher Paykel customer care and I was told it was the heating element and I can use an authorized dealer to repair the machine. The tech came with new heating elements, put them in nothing and told me the old ones were fine. The dryer has another problem. I was told they will order a new computer part. I have waited and am at the point of giving up. I am going back to my old faithful Maytag dryer I bought 10 years ago and it still works perfectly. So much for a so called high end expensive dryer with great reviews about this product.

I bought Fisher & Paykel washer & dryer in fall of 2007 installed in new log house that I built in January of 2008. Everything worked properly until September 28, 2008. We were leaving the house to go to a family reunion 5 miles away and just before leaving, my wife told me to put clothes in the dryer & turn it on. We left the house at 11:20 am at 12:30, we got a call from friends in the Fire dept. telling us the house was on fire. When we arrived back at the house, it was completely destroyed. We also lost 5 dogs in the fire, one of them being a golden retriever rescue dog that went into the house to rescue the other dogs, we think. We found his remains in the house & he was an outside dog. We also lost 4 vehicles & a Bobcat skid-steer loader.
Luckily, there was no loss of life. During investigation of the insurance company, they found wiring fault in the dryer that started the fire. So unless you want to lose everything, I would not recommend buying any product made by this company. I have been told that I wouldn't have much luck going after this company. That is why I'm writing this.

I bought an F&P Washer and Dryer. Within a year, I had a repair service out for the washer (the tub keeps coming off the springs). Next, starting last Sept., the dryer went out. First, it stopped heating, and the repairman said it just needed to be reset. Then, the whole thing stopped in the middle of drying, and when the repairman came, it was the LCD screen and one of the brains. Those were replaced and still wouldn't work. The other brain was replaced and still wouldn't work. One of the brains was replaced again. It worked for 3 months. It stopped drying again in Feb. The thermostats were replaced. Now, it has stopped drying again. I am at my wit’s end.

I bought a Fisher Paykel washer nearly five years ago. I’m very happy. I had an issue with water splashing out from under the lid. I looked in the instruction book and it described how to reprogram the maximum water level. We did so (lowering it slightly) and haven't ever had the problem before. I had another issue somewhat recently when the pump wouldn't drain quite all the water from the drum. I was at work and my wife went online and got some advice (including pictures). She turned the washer on its face, took the pump apart, cleaned it out, put it back together, and it worked great. I suspect that at least some of the complaints issued stem from the fact of how some people might be using their washers and putting way too much trust in the repairman who would rather sell you a new pump and charge you for that labor instead of simply cleaning it out. (This seems to be a common issue.) I have no complaint about this machine.

I bought a Fisher Paykel washer in summer of 2007. This machine does not drain the water all the way and the water that is left behind starts to smell very bad after a while. There is so much mildew on the back of the tub that it is absolutely nasty. If you don't soak the clothes for at least one hour, they don't really get washed. About a year ago, it started to really give me trouble. It will stop in the middle of the cycle. It will not spin the clothes. It will not let the water in, only few squirts at a time and when it did spin, it shakes so bad that you would think someone is tearing down the house. When it does that, I have to rearrange the clothes in the washes and try again and see if it will spin normally then.
Sometimes, I have to do it four or more times for it to work and sometimes it does not work at all. I have to get all the clothes out and unplug it for at least one hour then try again. Sometimes, I'm lucky and it will finish the cycle; sometimes, it would not. We replaced the rotor censor and it worked for about two weeks, and now I'm going through the same thing. No matter what we do, it will not work and I'm tired on going to do laundry at the laundromat for a family of six.

Three months ago I brought another repairman out and he diagnosed a bad rotor. About two months later they showed up to fix the problem with a stater, however, neither of those parts were correct. Now supposedly it's the drain pump, but those seem to be on backorder. I wish I knew someone who could build me a big slingshot because I'd aim it right at F&P windows. This is a VERY expensive machine, recommended by Consumer Reports at the time I shopped for it a few years ago. As with others, my washing machine drain pump failed. My technician ordered the part and was told he would have it in three or four days. At the end of that time, he was told the part was on back order. I called Fisher Paykel and was told the part would be in on Wednesday. I called the tech who said no, they had heard the part would be in on Friday. I called back to see what the story was and was told by someone named Francesca that the part would be in on Friday and would be distributed after that. I asked why the delay. She said, essentially, that this is an old machine (it's 3 or 4 years old, give me a break) and if it was a newer machine I wouldn't have this problem.
On Wednesday I called again hoping against hope that the part would be in since I'm sick of the laundromat. I was told THIS time that the part would be another 5 to 10 business days because the order has to clear customs. I sought clarification from a supervisor, Kiley, and it seems that this part is repeatedly on backorder. Another thing to note: I live in the Los Angeles area and it was next to impossible to find someone who works on these machines.

In October 2006, one of the lid actuator motors went out so I replaced all four and the dishwasher worked until November 7, 2008 when the unit gave me a code F1. (Is this Fisher Paykel code speak for gullible Americans?) I called Sears/DKC service and the tech came out on Nov. 10th, diagnosed the problem and took parts. I asked him if this will be working by Thanksgiving and he said sure. On Nov. 24, it still had an F1 code and tech replaced parts. On Dec. 29, it still had an F1 code and tech worked 3 hours on it. On Jan. 21, 2009, two techs came and it still had F1 code, so I ordered all new parts. On Feb. 21, still with the F1 code, I took the dishwasher to shop, maybe more techs and input.
Since all this started, I have been diagnosed with a blood clot in my aorta and it appears I should not be stressed. I think the government should step in and make this company stand behind their products. These are very expensive products. My American made 23-year old Maytag washer and dryer are still working and the tech tells me to do everything possible to keep them going. Then we needed a new pump and had to wait another 2 weeks. I called Lowe's and complained about the amount of time I would be without a washer. They sent me a loaner. Well, finally after 3 weeks, my washer was repaired and seemed fine. Six months later, it stopped in the middle of the cycle. Here we go again... another service call.
The repairmen came again. This time, he said it was due to having well water and the screens were clogged. He fixed the problem. Less than a week later, it broke again. This time, I was able to locate an email address for FP customer service. The woman named Lisette was helpful and sent an FP service rep to my house. Basically, I have too much lint?? Too much lint, I'm sure I don't have any more lint than anyone else. He also said it is not recommended that I use liquid fabric softener. I couldn't believe this. Too MUCH LINT?? FP sent me a lint filter that goes in the agitator. Why would they have an object like this? Could it be others have complained about this same problem?
Well, here we are Feb. 2009 and I am having the same problems with the washer. I had the repairman out to the house again on 2/17/09, again too much lint, clogged the pump. The machine worked for the two loads I was able to do. This morning, 2/22/09, I started laundry... guess what? The machine quit mid-wash cycle. I was able to restart the load. I sent a nasty email to Lisette the FP rep. I am done with this product. I will keep using and hope with every load that the damn thing will blow up. I'm taking the machine to the scrap yard. I wonder how much scrap is going for these days. I'm sure not enough to buy a new appliance. I will inform all my family, friends and co-workers not to purchase any FP appliance. I bought a Fisher & Paykel washer and dryer in March of 2007. My husband and I were told of the great water saving and dryer saving time of buying the washer. What a load of crap! My washer first broke down in July of 2008. I felt lucky that I was still under warranty. I then realized how unlucky I was when it took 3 months to fix my washer. First, it was a part that was back ordered. Finally after 1 month, they came to replace the part. The service guy replaced the part and then realized that there was another part that needed replacing.
After waiting another month for that back ordered part, he came back with the owner of the service store to again try to fix my washer. At that time, the owner told me they needed 1 more part but it was a small part and should be in within a week. Two weeks later, I called the service center and was told all the parts were not in; they were waiting for a back-ordered part. Imagine my surprise when the lady told me that 28 parts were ordered. I was told just 1 part was needed. Finally in October of 2008, my washer was fixed - not really as I could not use it for more than a medium size load.
Then in January of 2009, my washer broke again. This time the service center decided that they wanted to call Fisher & Paykel. Why do you ask? They apparently wanted to see if they would get paid to fix my washer (I'm guessing; what else could it be?). The service guy came out and said that a shock had come off and sprayed water in the control board which shorted out the entire control board. He also mentioned that it could have started a fire. He left without fixing the washer and referred me to Fisher & Paykel. I called the 800 number and was told the Technical Manager would be calling me. After waiting to hear from the technical manager for 2 weeks, I then called Fisher & Paykel again. They said they would email my file to him and mark it urgent. He called and said he would send another service center person out to get a second opinion.
Why do they need a second opinion? Do they not trust their authorized service centers? Anyway the second service guy decided that it wasn't the shock that sprayed the control panel but a cracked plastic part in the control board area - two different opinions. Pretty strange, right?

He said he had no time for that and left.
Well, of course, it still didn't work. I called them and they came this time in two days...fixed the same thing. But I insisted he call Fisher Paykel while here too. He did, but got no good answers to help him from them. He left. I called his boss who called Fisher Paykel and then called and told me Fisher Paykel would send a representative to look and give a second opinion. No one called. No one came. Now this year, the washing machine just died. Same circuit problem. This is the worst appliance brand I have ever experienced. I cannot believe Lowe’s sells this brand. Tomorrow, the repairman will come again and I will ask him to take this junk away. I am going back to my Whirlpool W&D. It is a shame because I paid nearly $2,000 for the set.

Do NOT ever buy Fisher & Paykel. Once out of warranty no one will repair them. Mention Fisher & Paykel and everyone will tell you they will NOT touch them. What is the point of buying them if no one thinks they are a good product. Customer service is useless and says they know about the problem and that the retailers should warn us you cannot get them repair!! As if a salesperson selling an expensive product will tell you that!

If you buy a Fisher & Paykel washer or dryer, be prepared to wait, wait, & wait on service if you ever need repairs. My washer went on the blink and living where I do, I could not get a serviceman. The closest authorized service point was 30 miles away and he would not come out this far.
Forget about calling Fisher & Paykel Customer Service, a complete joke! I finally went through a independent serviceman, who had to order the part and it took several weeks. Needless to say, never again will we purchase a Fisher & Paykel appliance.

My wife bought a Fisher-Paykel dryer 2 years ago. We've had problems in the past where it took forever for a service tech to come out. We're north of Detroit and found only 1 service parts store. (Of course it's 2 blocks from the place where my wife bought the damn thing) It went out again, heat would turn off, so I bought a $70.00 ignitor from the parts guy and decided to do it myself. The ignitor wasn't the problem, the service guy won't take the part back and scolds me for not paying him the $80.00 labor and $30.00 house call. I don't know who I'm more ****** at, Fisher-paykel for their crappy product or the parts guy on Harper Ave. for his egotestical behavior.
I'm putting the dryer out to the curb and I bought a great whirlpool dryer off craigslist.

I bought my F & P gas dryer and matching washer the first of January. Since then, I've had 11 service calls on the dryer. Since the dealer never has the parts, the service person has to come out to diagnose, we have to wait one week or more for the part to come in and then schedule a service call to get part installed. I spend more time at the laundromat than in my own laundry room! So far, no problems with the washer, but I'm just waiting on that to happen. I asked the service person about how many F & P he works on, and he alluded that he works on a LOT of them. I want my old Whirlpool set back!!!! I wouldn't be half as mad as I am if the salesperson hadn't talked me out of the set I wanted and steered me to the F & P set.
I have had to take time off work to meet the service person. I spend a lot of money and my precious weekends at the laundromat. So far, no cost to fix. My dealer (so far)has been terrific.

Had many service calls replaced many parts, botton drawer has never worked properly. So tomarrow I will be calling the repair center once again. If no avail, will have to replace with another Brand of dishwasher. A family friend was planning on buying a F&P washer and dryer. I dont think she will know.

We bought the fisher paykel washer based on it's energy efficiency rating and consumer rating at Lowes. Within one year the pump went dead due to rust and corrosion. It looked as though water spilled over and rusted the pump out. Now the electronic board seems to be going. Sometimes when we touch the power button, nothing happens and I have to keep playing with it before it finally starts. My clothes don't seem to get clean either. Not happy with this purchase.

My wife and I finally had enough money to purchase a matching set washer and dryer. We go to Lowe's and find Fisher and Paykel, who are supposed to be Consumer Products rated number 1. I am returning this set today almost one year later. The washing machine has been broken three times in eleven months. This is the worst major appliance purchase we have ever made. Fisher and Paykel refuse to stand behind their product. Lowe's will be refunding my money towards another brand today.

First of all, let me say that I can't begin to tell you how horrible the Fisher & Paykel dryer is that I bought less than two years ago. I had it only three months when it broke and it took nearly three months to get it back working again. Now here it is less than two years old and again it's broken. So I called for repair. I had a hard time finding a repair company because I work and need repairs done in the evenings or on the weekend.
Finally I get someone who says they do repair Fisher & Paykel (and that is a must to find out before allowing any repair service into your home) and they could be there on Sunday May 25. The minute he arrives and starts to take my machine apart I am wary because I have seen it repaired before and he is looking in the wrong area for the working parts. But I don't say anything because I am not a repair person and I figure he knows what he is doing. He finally gets around to taking the front of the machine off and starts testing things. He finally tells me that I need a whole new mother board. What do I know? So I say ok. Get the part and come back and repair this thing.
It is now June 7 and I have not heard a word from him. I called another repair service. And this time I was careful to make sure they were an authorized Fisher Paykel dealer. It turns out that there is nothing wrong with the mother board. The heating element is bad. But there is also some short of short in the machine and may not even be worth fixing. Thank you Fisher Paykel for making such a piece.
Fortunately I have a washer and dryer in the basement that I can use. But I have asthma and having to tote laundry up and down the stairs for the past three weeks has triggered several asthma attacks. To say nothing of what it is now going to cost me to replace this machine. And the $70.00 paid to a repair service that absolutely had no business clainimg that they could repair a Fisher Paykel dryer.

Buying the FP Dishdrawers was the worst purchase I have ever made. Normal dishes don't fit, no place for cooking utensils or large pots. Washes poorly. Noisy. Top side racks totally useless. It's fine however if you use Corel dishes, they're small enough. I'm two years out and on my 3rd service call. Water draining into the wrong tub, broken piece that the wash arm sits on, and out of sync servo units on the lid seal....couldn't open the drawer, had to force it. The repairman told me that every single one they've sold has needed to be repaired at least once. How's that for quality! As soon as Bosch goes on sale I'm buying.

My husband and I build our own home. Since my husband is a contractor, we took advantage of a promotion Fisher & Paykel had and purchased our appliances early at a contractor's price. The appliances remained at the store warehouse for approximately 6 months at the salespersons invitation. When our house was weather ready with roof and walls, we had the appliances delivered to our home, where they sat in the garage amongst the cabinets, for approximately another 6 moths. We got the final inspection in February of this year and moved in on March 28 of this year.
Approximately 4 months later, at 11:00pm the middle glass of the lower oven shattered. We were all sleeping and heard the sound of glass breaking! We thought we had an intruder, come to find out it was the oven glass breaking, with tiny bits of glass falling onto the floor from the vent at the bottom of the oven.
I called Build In Distributors, the retailer we purchased our appliances from, who told me the warranty had expired, and I could call one of their authorized repair companies. I also called Fisher and Paykel, who told me basically the same thing. I tried calling several repair stores, however, it was a Saturday and none of them were in and have not returned any of my calls.
A couple of months have gone by now and I still have only one oven in operation. However, after having thought about this more, I don't feel we should be at fault for this glass breaking. It was obviously a manufacture error! I don't feel as though any of these companies have been of any help to me at all.

Called Fisher/Paykel - used their certified repair people - They replaced, some rubber flap, and it worked fine, for 3 months - again, called and someone came out and did the same thing. Worked for 3 months - again called and this time, they sent those small flaps to my house - a box of them, so when ever they came over they would have them.

I bought a Fisher & Paykel washing machine in 06/03/04. I did research and this was suppose to be the best washing machine you could buy. On Sept 19,2005 my machine starting leaking from underneath the machine even when turned off. Also the switchboard on machine went dead. I am very upset only had machine a little over a year.
It took some research to find somebody to work on it. The company originally given to me from Fisher & paykel would take over a week to come out to look at it. Fisher & Paykel did not have the repair place on their list even though they were authorized warranty on their brand.
The second repair company came out quickly to fix the machine. It water pump and the switchboard had gone out.
I contacted Fisher & Paykel to demand a new machine. I seemed to be getting the run around. _I have never had a washing machine go out in a year.

This is a complaint about a Fisher & Paykel double drawer dishwasher.
My wife and I bought a new home in Simi Valley California in December of 1999. It came with a GE garden variety dishwasher, which my wife was not happy with from day one. She had a top of the line Kitchen Aid in our previous home and had excellent results and reliability.
In 2001, we were looking at some new model homes in the area and came across the Fisher & Paykel double drawer dishwasher. The unit looked well made and seemed to be a very efficient way of handling the dishwashing needs of our household. We explored the cost and found them to be about twice the price of a well made Kitchen Aid washer, but with the added convenience of two drawers and supposedly, high-end reliability and performance, we went ahead and paid approximately $1,300 for the unit.
I must admit that I declined the added service warranty, which I always do, because anyone who knows, knows that it is generally a waste of money unless you have a very unreliable item. Most of the electronic items, such as this dishwasher, which has a computer control system, will exhibit any problems in the first 60 to 90 days...what they call infant failure problems. After that, unless you are extremely unlucky or you've bought a piece of junk, you shouldn't have problems over a normal life of the product. My mistake.
The Fisher and Paykel dishwasher exhibited problems after about 6 months of usage. Over the next three years, long after the warranty had expired, the unit leaked, we had the repairman out a number of times. For the past year, we have only been using the top drawer because the bottom drawer leaked and caused moisture to build-up in the cabinetry where the washer was located.
This past week, August 20, 2004, the unit has completely stopped functioning. We had a repairman come out and assess the situation. He determined that both drawers had excessive leaks and that the leaking from the top drawer had soaked the electronics of the washer and that the computer system for the washer was blown. The cost of repair would be about half of what the new unit cost.
We have contacted the store that we bought the unit from, Warehouse Discount Center in Agoura Hills, California, on numerous occasions, and they basically told us that they didn't give a damn, and that, had we bought the extended warranty, that we would have been covered.
We have spent nearly $10,000 with this dealer over the past four years, but I can assure you, that will come to an end. I can't say that the dealership is the major culprit because they did not build this unreliable piece of junk, the people at Fisher and Paykel did. But since they are located in Australia, they might as well be on the other side of the moon.
We have tried to contact them, sent letters, with no response. They have been completely uncooperative.
It is also important for everyone reading this to know that we are now in the process of trying to have the mold removed from the kitchen cabinets. The cabinet where the dishwasher resides is a disaster, along with the adjoining cabinets which also have mold. I'm unsure how much will be involved in resolving this problem. We could be in for replacing that entire section of the kitchen cabinetry. That also entails the removal of the granite countertops and possibly even the sink.
I wish it were just the cost of the damn dishwasher, but this thing has really gotten out of hand.
The repairman that have come out on a half-dozen occasions to re-repair this unit have made comments about how many other Fisher & Paykel units have also experienced leaks just like ours. They said that about 4 months after we purchased our unit, Fisher and Paykel came out with a new and improved model which was suppose to address the leaking issue. I don't know how well these newer models have functioned, but I can't imagine how they could be any worse than the unit we purchased.
What upsets me most about that is, if they knew that there were problems of leaking, why didn't they retrofit the existing units for the customers who previously bought their product in good faith, and who, like ourselves, are going to eat the entire cost, not to mention the repair to the kitchen cabinets?

I purchased a Fisher & Paykel dishwasher in March of 2000. The motor rotor has been replaced three times since then. The top drawer fails to drain. The third trip out, the repairman said the motor roto which was previously installed by him was defective. He replaced the part and assured me that there would be no charge as Fisher & Paykel had a two year warranty. I advised him that my warranty expired only three months ago. He said it would not be a problem since the previous part was defective.
One week later I received a call from the repair shop that Fisher & Paykel declined the warranty extention and I would be charged for labor and service of $107.00!!! The part, however would be covered.
Why should I have to pay for labor and service to repair a part that was defective at installation while my warranty was still valid? They told me to take it up with Fisher & Paykel. I did. Fisher & Paykel said that the labor charges would be covered but that the repair company should contact them directly.
The repair company insists that Fisher & Paykel has declined to extend the warranty. I am stuck between these two entities with an outstanding charge for labor and service. I find it disapointing that after purchasing a high end product, that I am stuck fighting a battle would should be done by the company and the repair people and not me.
