Flooring and carpeting. First of all, I'm very pleased with the job. Thrilled in fact because the carpeting and flooring are great quality. But most importantly, beginning with the attentive customer care telephone reps - they were with me every step of the way! Secondly, the installers did a really precise job for me. Punctual and craftsmen... all of them! As a retired older lady, I have to really budget for something big like this and Empire did Not disappoint me!

The sales representative was very pleasant and helpful. The carpet was laid on the day they said. The carpet layers were very good, fast, efficient and neat. I had four bedrooms, hallway, stairs and front room carpeted and they finished in 4-1/2 hours. I could not believe how quickly they were finished. I especially think the stairs were done beautifully. I would recommend Empire and other family members have had work done by them and were pleased with their work as well.

I never received any sort of explanation as to why the Installation Manager did not respond to my requests for help on the day of installation, or why the installer thought it was appropriate to remain on site until 8:30pm. Nevertheless, the new floor that had to be cut to access the damaged heating pipe was satisfactorily fixed on Saturday the 20th. I provided Rick ** with a copy of my plumber's receipt for having to purge the system to get the heat running. I do not know if Empire plans to reimburse the plumber or me? For the record, I had a great experience with Empire when I had them do the flooring in my condo last summer. But this experience has given me pause about using Empire again.

My installation of LVT in two rooms occurred on Friday, the 13th of May. I now believe in bad luck days. It started off right away with the installer accidentally cutting into my baseboard heating water pipe in the dining room. This resulted in a big puddle of water on the floor and loss of water and heat in my home. I called my own plumber right away but did not want to pay for the work unless someone at Empire guaranteed to reimburse me. The installer said he would find and pay for a plumber himself. I was told a plumber could not get there until 6 pm. Shortly after, he asked me to speak with someone from Empire on his cell phone, whereby they were looking for authorization to charge me more money for some edging on the step between the dining room and kitchen.
There was an oak step edge already there but they told me they could take it off and do edging, however, when they took it off, it needed some plywood along the length of it. So I told them they should not have removed it as it was perfectly fine and they could have just brought the vinyl to put up right against it. No, I will not pay, put the oak back. The oak had been cut in half so it had a seam now showing. I called Empire, spent an incredible time on hold, talked with two people who assured me a manager would call me back. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME!
The installers were there until 8:30 pm, and oh yeah, the plumbers truck broke down so no one could come on Friday. Plumber came Saturday, repaired the pipe, but unfortunately did not purge the hot water heating system correctly, leaving air in the system and me without heat now for the 4th day today, which is Monday. My house is 55 degrees. In addition of course, the brand new floor had to be cut into to repair the pipe. Why they bothered putting the new floor in that area is a mystery to me as they knew very well it would need to be cut to repair the pipe! I called Empire this morning and someone is supposed to call me back with resolution. Maybe today, maybe not. Seriously?
We are incredibly surprised and disappointed to learn about the issues you have been experiencing. The level of installation you received is unacceptable. We will be following up you shortly to discuss this matter and start working towards a resolution.
Thank you.

Empire Today was excellent and the experience with them went very well. I had them install carpeting in three bedrooms and a hallway. The carpet looks like a waffle print with indentations and it's very nice. The installers did a very good job. We're very satisfied with Empire Today. I'm sure if we had any more work done, we'll give them a call.

Empire Today did the carpet in my whole house about 12 years ago so when I got ready for new carpet, I called them back. They installed hardwood floors and they carpeted the bedroom, the hallway, and down the steps. I love what they installed although the carpet is not as plush as the other one that I had throughout the house. It was a great experience. The sales rep was great. Their installation team came out on time and did what they had to do. They cleaned up after themselves, too. Empire Today did a good job. I just recommended them to somebody and they’re doing their floors today.

When I decided to have my whole house re-carpeted I called Empire Today. I am so happy I did. It was a wonderful experience. The salesman helped me pick out carpet that would go with my decor. The installers were great, and did a beautiful job. They were quick and professional. They had a lot of furniture to move but did it with ease. This is the nicest carpeting I have had in my home so far. I just love it! They also had to do my steps and did them different than the last company did. They look so much better than before! I am so happy with everything that I would highly recommend this company to anyone!

We had Empire Today install carpeting in the bedroom and stairs of our home. The salesman we had when we got our hardwood floors done convinced us to get Empire. He takes his time, doesn't push us, works with us so we feel like we can trust him. We liked him so we just called him back - we'll call him for the next one too. The people of Empire are consistent - they're always on time and did a great job always. Moreover, the carpet is really comfortable and soft. I'd recommend this company.

I got Empire Today to install the carpet for the bedroom, living room, dining room and family room. We had some friends who had their carpeting installed by Empire and we liked what we saw when we went over their house. Also, our friends told us that Empire had the best deal going. The guys from Empire were real professional and the installation was very well done. The only thing that I was concerned about is that they started the installation about 11 in the morning and they were still here at 9:30 that night. They had everything pretty much done except for the stairs, so they ended up coming back the next day to finish it, which was fine. But had they gotten here earlier in the morning, they probably could have got the whole thing done in a day.
Another concern is that it's been over a month since the installation and there's one place where there is the seam. And on the entire seam, you can't see it at all and you can't tell that there's even a seam there. But on about a quarter of it, you actually see the seam. But overall, we are extremely satisfied with it and would recommend Empire Today.

The cost that Empire Today gave was a lot better than what we had seen online. We didn't contact another group to come in and take measurements. Empire Today was the group we went most seriously with and had them install the carpet throughout our whole condo. Originally, we were looking at a much thicker carpet that was more expensive, but because of the price we came down a little bit. The quality's been great and other people that have come in to see it don't know that that's what we did and they thought it's great. The carpet is put together and the seams are well-hidden. It looks like it's all-in-one which is really nice. The installation crew was great as well. They came in, kept the mess to a minimum, and did a really nice job. It was a big space and they were very professional the entire time. It has met our expectations and was better than we thought it was gonna end up being. It's been really good overall.

Carpet installation - Never heard from them on day of installation. When I called, the answer was the truck broke down (typical canned answer). I will never do business with this company again. Instead of them calling to reschedule, I was told to do so. This company must rank among the worst.

I have had Empire Today install the carpet in my living and dining room. We considered other brands and the other one was cheaper and a little bit better quality, but it took a long time for them to get here but Empire was fast. The carpet of Empire was in stock and ready for next-day installation. I’d already had my house taken apart and I was going over furniture in both the bedrooms and the kitchen. And then the other company said it was gonna be another two more weeks. I couldn’t deal with it anymore so I called Empire. They were out one day and installed the next. I like the color of the carpet and the new flooring met my expectations. I'm very pleased that everything went smoothly.

I had a very small job done by Empire Today - a runner installed on the stairs going from my first floor to the second floor of my home. It cost $417.70 but they didn't make us pre-pay because they did a $6,000 job for us before. I wrote a check when the installers came. They took a picture of it and sent it to their office. Then the installers told me that I could just write "void" on it so I did and they put it with my paperwork for the job. They did the job and everything's fine. However last week, I receive a check in the mail for $852 from Empire flooring. I had no idea what that was until I took a look at my bank statement. Turns out, the day after they did the job, they took around $1,200 out of my checking account instead of $417.70. That wasn't right. I write checks out of that account and pay my residency taxes out of payroll from there as well. I base my checks on the amount of money I have in my account because I don't bounce checks.
As soon as I saw this, I run over to my bank and asked them how Empire was allowed to take that much money. I also told the bank and Empire that there's not a chance I'll be responsible for a bounced check. When I called Empire, the representative said that somebody will call me on Monday. But nobody called me on Monday, which is funny since the bank didn't call me either. They're not an easy company to call either. I was put on hold 50 times this morning and I was on hold for 20 minutes last Saturday morning. This whole process was terrible - worst customer service.
Empire took out this extra money and didn't notify us of any reason or rationale. We were very happy with them until this incident. It's the first and last incident we'll ever have with them because we won't go back since this is a huge issue. This is fraud! I don't care how great a job they did on my wood floors. They did the right thing by sending a refund, but they should've notified us immediately through email or phone call that there was a problem. Alternatively, they should've put a note in with the check saying why they're sending a check. They didn't do any of those. Hence, that money was deposited into another account, not the same account it came from because we had no idea there was a problem. God forbid, one of those checks to the government or to a friend of mine bounces. If any of it does, I'll post more negative things on Facebook and go to every social media so I can blast them - they deserve it.

By 10 after 11, I was trying to get into contact with Amy ** (customer service) and had to leave a message. I tried to contact a live person at the Chicago office but like always I had to leave a message. While I was contacting the 800 number the installers called to tell me they would be at my house in half an hour. This was at 11:15! Unacceptable considering the fact that Empire busted my appointment on Friday. It sure feels like my time means nothing to Empire.
Amy called and explained that the men were held up at the warehouse and that I was their first appointment. Seriously?! First appointment past 11:30? Or, I'm their first appointment and they can't get here BY 11. Not a good way to do business.Amy also explained that the time frame was ONLY an estimate and that things happen. That is a cop out and gives Empire a black eye.
I only wanted Empire to do what THEY (you) said you would. Once again, Empire fell short. I want to give you all a good review but can't because the customer service experience was so very poor. Yes, the problem has been resolved but I was forced to spend entirely too much time on it all. The installation (with the exception of the glue on my runner) was outstanding. We could have gotten a better price but we honestly love the carpet we now have. It is a shame that what would have otherwise been a great experience has been so marred by such poor customer service.

Empire Carpet came recommended by a coworker. Contacted the 877 number. Was put in contact with Justin Credible Flooring. Wanted the 50/50/50 "sale". It only covered the cheapest flooring so we didn't get that "deal". We were scheduled for installation for this past Tuesday. Got a call this Monday morning to be told the installers would be at my home between 9 and 11 am! I could reschedule if I wanted to. Excited to have my new carpet I said sure, come on! Two very nice gentlemen came to install the carpet. English was certainly their second language so there was quite the language barrier. We managed to get through the language difficulties. The installation took 5 hours. That's for 1 great room, a hallway and a set of stairs. Also the heavy lifting was done prior to the installers coming so they didn't have much furniture to move.
By the time they were finished (after 5 PM) I was tired and just wanted my house back. We managed to get most of the house put back together in short order. That's when I noticed the glue spot (about 2 1/2" in diameter) on a carpet runner in my entrance way. Here's where the problem comes in. I immediately called customer service, left a message and waited most of the next day to get a call back. I got the call back when I was away from my phone (of course). When I called customer service back I had to leave another message. Waiting until 1 PM the next day I decided to call them back again explaining that I would once again be unavailable after 3 PM. Nothing... I called again, mentioned my frustration and the woman scheduled an appointment without putting me through to customer service. Why couldn't that have been done in the first place?!
My appointment was scheduled at the end of the week. Now the glue has dried and sunk into my runner. Perfect... Received a call this morning (Friday) about 8 AM. They had to cancel my appointment. I rescheduled for this coming Monday. I am a seamstress and book my business appointments well in advance so having canceled my Friday appointments to make arrangements to have Empire out sometime between 9 and 6 only to be told that they were not coming really spun me up. I called Empire back to ask what happened to my Friday appointment and how can they make sure this doesn't happen this coming Monday the woman who called about the busted appointment apologized profusely and said I was "confirmed" for Monday so they would be here for sure. Well, I was confirmed for Friday, what's the difference?! She did offer me (and I took it) a $75.00 refund on the over $3000.00 I spent on my carpet.
I asked to speak with a manager only to be told there were none I could speak with! None were in but she would give one the message that I would like to speak with a manager. Yep, NO CALL. I've tried to contact my sales rep... No answer... I've tried to call Empire back about 4:30 PM only to get a "leave a message" recording... again. To say I'm frustrated is an understatement. I really wanted this to be taken care of before the weekend was out. Empire Carpet was quick enough to take my money but their customer service really needs some work. If this is resolved to my satisfaction I will be happy to amend my survey but for now I would find it difficult to recommend Empire to anyone!

About two years ago my wife and I purchased "top of the line" carpet from Empire. The sales person was nice (probably because we spent a lot of money with him) and everything seemed like we made the correct decision to go with Empire. Boy was we WRONG. From the first day of installation, the installers didn't enough carpet because they had wrote down the wrong measurements. The installers were not able to finish and another crew had to come out to complete the job. Okay, simple mistake, whatever.
Two years in with the new "top of the line" carpet we notice parts of the carpet breaking down. We had a carpet company come out and review the carpet and they said we had poor quality carpet, and that it's already breaking down and we should contact the company who we bought it from. They also showed us where the carpet was put in wrong down the hallway, causing some of the issues. So we called Empire since we had a 25 year warranty and they sent someone out to take pictures.
After about a week or so with no word from Empire or the guy who took the pictures, we called Empire in Cincinnati. We were told someone would call us the next day with an answer. Another week goes by and no answer. So we called Empire back and they said they were having issues with the Cincinnati branch and the case worker on our account quit. Awesome. So finally after a couple more days a lady said we were declined because we had a bad vacuum cleaner. Yes that is a true statement.
We asked to speak with this person's manager and she said they were having issues with turnover so someone from Cleveland office would call us. So now we're talking to someone in Cleveland about our carpet falling apart and he said out of goodwill he'll replace the carpet. All we would have to pay is $195 for installation. Okay, fine.
Then my wife and I thought, "Will the new carpet break down in two years like this one?" So we called our guy in Cleveland and asked if we could upgrade to hardwood and pay the difference, and he said it should be around $500.00 difference. Cool, let's try it. So a sales person comes out and starts off saying, "Let me go get the expense wood since this one's on Empire." Because of that statement we ask him, "Are we being charged for this?" He said Empire was covering it and that he'd work a deal if we got our kitchen done at the same time, trying to upsell us. He said everything would be okay and we'll make it work.
After he leaves we call our guy from Cleveland and he said the sales person was wrong, and we'd have to pay another $1,000 plus for the hardwood, which is higher than his initial $500.00 from earlier but now Empire has us down for a $2,700 job for our kitchen. We ask the guy in Cleveland to switch us to another manager because this is starting to get crazy. Now a guy from Chicago or Texas... I can't remember... calls us and says after reviewing everything we've been through he was going to upgrade the floor for $500.00 and work on a better deal for our kitchen. I told him, "The kitchen is not a concern and we would like to cancel our kitchen order, and focus on getting our repair done."
This new guy said he was going to be at the Dayton office later that week and he'd call us. He never called back. Instead, we get a call from an installer saying he's at our house on Saturday morning to install hardwood in our kitchen! How awesome is that?! So after we send him on his way I get another call from Empire wanting to reschedule our repair job since the kitchen was incorrect. She tells us May 14th, 2016 will be the new date for the repair with upgrade hardwood. On May 10th I get a call from the sales person who tried to upsell me a kitchen floor saying Empire told him to call us about a new room we're interested in so he could measure it. I told him we do not want anything new from Empire until our repair job was complete and he agreed and apologized for the headaches because he knew what we've been through with Empire.
After dealing with Empire now for several months I know better to trust their ability to be accurate so I called on May 12th, 2016 to ask about the 14th and the guy on the phone couldn't tell me much but said someone would call me back, and if the lady said the 14th then the 14th is when the job would be completed. Guess what? I call her today because once again I get no call back from Empire and guess whose appointment was canceled because the lady wanted the sales person to remeasure the repair area to make sure they had material. She informs me that she and the sales person must have had a miscommunication through email. Are you kidding me? He even said over the phone that this was a new work order and had nothing to do with the repair and that he was shocked we were even considering anything new through Empire.
My wife is about to explode so she calls the lady, wanting answers, and she informed my wife that she'll call her back before 5 p.m. today. She calls at 5:30 to tell me that May 14th will not happen and the new date is scheduled for May 17th but she even said, "We'll TRY and get it down on the 17th." Never again will I ever call Empire to do anything. I'm posting a blog at my place of work so no one here gets treated like my wife and I have. I will send an email to every family member I know and let them know my experience with Empire so that they don't experience what we have. Thanks for the headaches and troubles. I'm so glad we bought the "top of the line" carpet.

We had flooring put in through the majority of our house. Living, entryway, master bedroom, master bath, master closet and the hall closet. Early on we had issues with the flooring scratching really easy. They came and replaced the damaged area after some back and forth. We have been very cautious since. We paid a lot for this flooring and it was supposed to stand up to a lot. The whole reason I purchased it. Over the last couple of months I've been going back and forth with the area customer service because the flooring is gapping and in several areas, it is starting to buckle. It has been less than 3 yrs. since we had these floors put in.
Had a guy come and inspect the flooring April 5th and I've yet to hear from customer service. While speaking with the customer care person on my account, prior to the inspection, she stated that my particular flooring had been recalled. The inspector was very nice and took several pictures of where the floor is pushing up and gapping. Hello, if the product was recalled why am I having to go round and round with this company. We have the rest of the house to do but at this point it seems apparent that Empire will probably not get my return business. Also, I've since called customer service in regards to the inspection and I'm still waiting for a callback. Sincerely, a very frustrated customer.

I had carpet laid upstairs and the stairs. This was done really well, one guy did it. Because of this experience and the $250 discount, I decided to have vinyl installed downstairs. This has been a nightmare. Three different times they did not have enough material. The second time they did half the floor and I had to wait a week for the other half. Today I have discovered that when they nailed the trim, a hole was made in an air conditioning pipe, so I've been without air since they let on Wednesday. The floor is ok now, but I've spent a long time on the phone with customer service, stressed because of three different appointments and not enough material, now a costly problem with my aircon. It has been miserable and totally not worth it. I like the floor, but after all the discounts it was still expensive. I am extremely upset.

I was assured by the salesman that someone would call me the night before or by early the day of installation to make sure the installation could get done before I had to go to work at 4 p.m. I've received numerous calls from Empire, making sure I still want the installation but ZERO information on when they'll be here. Twice I've been told the installer would call at 6:30 a.m., but no call. When I called customer service today, I was told she'd left the installer a voicemail and he'd call me shortly. Two hours later, nothing. Now I'm told I have to call them at 10 a.m.
Meantime, since the installation requires something like four hours, I'm running out of time. And my tenants, who are getting the carpet, have already moved everything to accommodate the installation. Very very poor customer service. Expecting people to sit around for 10 hours, without information, despite having told the salesman that I had to go to work at 4, makes Empire even worse than the cable companies. I had planned to do three more installations with Empire, a second unit in the house and both kitchens; I can guarantee you I will not.
We have read your reviews, and we regret that you installation was not completed as planned. This is not the service we expect for our customers, and we would like to help make things right. We will follow up with you shortly.

The workers of Empire Today were super. They were efficient and very polite. They installed a new carpet in our home and the carpet is absolutely perfect. My wife has kidney dialysis and when she walks in the carpet we had, it was slippery but now it's nice and solid. The workers replaced it and glued it. Every time I go in both bathrooms and walk around, I think of the good job Empire Today did because the carpet doesn't move. Plus out in the garage, I have a ramp for wheelchair and I had a piece of carpet out there that was always moving around and I showed it to the guy. He also put a new piece of carpet down and glued it. Now it works and looks perfect. The guy went above and beyond the call of duty on that one. I am completely happy and satisfied.

I prepaid for laminate and carpet. The carpet installers was okay. The installers were quick and efficient although they marked up the walls. No worries, a little touch up painting and it was fixed. Now for the laminate. They showed up a week later than planned. When they did show up, the product had white spots on it. You could wipe it with cleaner but when it dried the spots came back. The next weekend a different color product but the same result, white spots. So, I cancelled my laminate install. I was due a refund. I put in my refund on April 11th. It is now May 10th and I have not been issued a refund. Completely incompetent customer service! If I could give this company negative stars I would.

I was very disappointed the way the Empire Rep did last week. He came to my house to measure the floor last Wed. He spent 3 hrs in my house to write the quote. The quote was extremely high that I never seen before. After he left my house, I emailed him that I need to delay the project before he could explain to me the quote clearly. There were many hiding costs that I did not know where they came from to get the grant price. He came to my house again to show me the quote (paper). I still did not agree the price from the quote. It was extremely high that I didn't accept this quote. I asked him to switch to other tiles that were reasonable. I put 10% downpayment this time 65 dollars and last time was $385. All of them were withdrawn from my account on 04/28 and on 05/02.
The same day he came to adjusted the quote that I switched to other tiles, he ripped off my carpet (it was on Sat) to prepare installing on Monday. He asked me to remove all stereo stuff on the shelves as well unplugged all tv. I had to spend whole day (Sunday) to unplug and removed everything. I had the phone line and internet set up on basement that I had to unplug per his request.
On Monday, no one showed up, and no call to let us know what happened. My parents had to stay home all day to wait for the crew without going anywhere as they used to go out every morning. I got his email that stated the installing would move to Thursday instead of Monday. At night, I received another email that he was out of work until his father recovered and told me if I had any question, please contact his boss at the number given. I called to reported the problem happened. I kept calling to complain, but no one solved the problem for me.
I got the call from Empire company that the tiles I chose was commercial tiles that were not installed for resident. They sent another Rep came to give me another quote. This Rep gave me exactly the first tiles that I denied because their highly cost. I was tired to call and spent my time to hold the phone every day. My patience was limited that I could not be patient anymore. I decided to give up my floor project with Empire Today. It is my first time to work with "Empire Today" as well my last one to deal with "Empire Today". I had bad experience with it.

Initial sales appointment was fine. When the installers came out, they took 6.5 hours to install one 23 x 19 foot bedroom of carpet. They left a long seam which was understandable and was barely visible. But then they patched a 5 x 8 piece for some reason and left a cross seam that looks horrible. They also left several damaged spots from incorrect cutting to what looks like a burn spot in one of the corners. The point where the carpet meets the tile in the bathroom looks horrible.
I called and they sent out two guys to try and repair but the two guys said they need carpet and the installers left none. The two guys said "Russ" would call me back. NO CALLS. I left a complaint on their website, NO CALLS. I called the company and spoke to a CSR, they said "Russ" would call me back. NO CALLS. I basically threw $1500 out the window on this job. The floor has been repaired. The workers who came out really worked hard to make us happy. Looks 100% better than before. Still not happy with the customer service, felt like we only got the runaround.
Original Review: May 6, 2016
On April 11, 2016 we employed Empire Today to replace the tile in our kitchen, living room, hallway, hall closet and laundry room. They worked on it for 3 days because they needed additional tile to be ordered. We were assured the furniture they removed would be replaced and floors would be cleaned of glue. They were in such a hurry to leave on the last day I had to remind them to replace the furniture. When I asked them about the glue they told me acetone would take the glue off the floor and they left.
I took inventory of what did not get done. Caulking was not put in the hall closet or laundry room. They put "white" caulking against black baseboards. Caulking was missing around some of the baseboards and uneven on much of the other. Some tiles were not staggard and pattern does not flow well. A tile piece is missing behind the window blind and a piece of the vinyl was torn off another. The rubber stripping did not get replaced in kitchen/hall doorway. They tried to use the old stripping and it is not staying. The edge of the "step down" in the closet, laundry room, and hall bathroom was left unprotected. Floors were not cleaned of glue and looks dirty. Installers broke the console off the washing machine when they moved it.
I called empire to voice my complaints and was told these things would be taken care of. A gentleman (Martin) came and inspected the work and took pictures. He said he would make a report and make sure the pictures were included and that someone would be out to make repairs. We did not hear from Empire for awhile. When they did call to set an appointment and appointment day (Saturday) came no one showed. When I called I was told that they had called earlier that morning and left a message that the tiles had not come on the truck and they had to reschedule. They lied because I was home all day waiting for them and no message was left on the phone.
On the day (Tuesday) of the reschedule they called again and said the tile was not on the truck so we rescheduled again for the Thursday same week. They called earlier that morning and said again the tile was not on the truck. I scheduled for the following Monday giving them the weekend to get the tile on the truck. On the scheduled day 2 men came with a work order to replace the tile and clean the floor. I asked about the rest of the problems and he asked me what they were. I showed him the problems and he tried to fix the rubber stripping with wood molding and I told him that would not work because it was raised higher than the floor and a tripping hazard.
He then talked on the phone with someone and said he would have to come back another time because he did not have the supplies to fix everything. I asked him if he would fix the tiles and clean the floor and he told me "if I can't do all the work, I don't do any. We would have to wait for all the supplies." I really expected a lot more from this company. When I pay for work to be done I expect it to be done, and in a timely manner. It will soon be a month since this all started. How much longer before it's finished? I feel I am getting the runaround.

Three issues with my purchase have left me with a very negative impression of Empire Today: Miscommunication between salesperson and installation team i.e. where the two halves of my manufactured home meet, there needed to be a filler material put in. Salesperson said the install crew would be able to take care of, but there was not mention of that on the order and the install crew knew nothing of it. My carpet install was delayed by 4-5 days due to the miscommunication. I was given $100 off the purchase price in an attempt to appeases me.
The promotions that Empire runs on T.V. leave the consumer with a false impression. I viewed 2 different promotions during the course of my purchase. I was told by the sales rep that they only applied to certain carpets... And of course, mine was not on the list. That is NOT made clear in the T.V. ads. The referral gift card incentive of $350 (to person receiving a referral from another person) turned out to a catch as well. Apparently your purchase price must exceed $3500 in order to qualify. Another disappointment. All in all... not impressed with how Empire Today conducts business and I definitely will not be recommending them to any of the friends/family.

My carpet was installed a month ago. The salesman from Empire was nice and I bought carpets for 2 rooms ($1,777). The installer worked hard and after he was done, he helped us put the furniture back. My housekeeper who comes every week to clean showed me a place between the kitchen vinyl and the carpet in the bedroom that was coming up. We thought if that is the way it is, it will continue to get worse and when my warranty runs out, I'll be in trouble. So I called and scheduled last week that someone would be here yesterday but nobody showed nor called. I sat all day and I could have done something else. I got on the phone again this morning and the guy said that he had turned it over to somebody and that's the last thing I've heard, still no action.
I paid what I considered to be a premium price, knowing they'd do a good job and I would never have trouble but I’m having all kinds of trouble already. My housekeeper heard me that I called Empire twice now with no action. She said she was going to get a couple of bedrooms carpeted but if this is what she's looking forward to, she won't be interested in calling now so Empire already lost two rooms of carpet already. I contracted EmpireToday to install hardwood floors in my 430sq ft bedroom and vanity area. They sent one installer who arrived around 10ish and left around 8 pm. He had to move king bed, triple dresser with mirrors attached and two nightstands and an armoire. The floor wasn't leveled before laying the slats. And he shot quarter round nails into the floor to hold down unleveled slats. He didn't have the correct color caulk to seal quarter rounds in vanity area and he didn't have correct color transition pieces. He said he would have to come back in his broken English. He spoke very little English and arrived in an unmarked truck and carried no Empire identification. I expected an Empire Today truck.
Three days later a second group showed up to complete installation of transition pieces and seal quarter rounds in vanity area. Again they were in an unmarked vehicle and no Empire identification. Again, they spoke very little English. They brought new quarter rounds and sealed the transitions only after I insisted they do so. They left a mess outside from cutting quarter rounds.
Three days later, a nail appeared from one of the slats. Rex **, our contact person, was contacted and pictures texted to him. We received no call back. We contacted Rex ** again who told us he would send a crew to replace boards damaged by nails that were not suppose to be in the boards. Two days later, I called Rex ** left a message inquiring about status of repair to the floor. Received a call from a Billy ** inquiring about our "complaint". I said, "I have no complaint, I have an issue with a nail sticking up from the floor!!"
He came out to inspect the floor. He admitted the installer did not level the floor and shot nails into it to keep slats down. Before leaving he scheduled with us a date to remove floor, level it and replace with new slats. Day before installation I called Billy ** to confirm our appointment. He confirmed. Day of installation no one showed up or called. Billy was contacted again and said he would call back. Received no call back. Instead someone came by, no Empire identification, to "inspect" our floor. We were expecting an installation not an inspection! "Gabe" inspected floor, determined it needed to be leveled and replaced. Appointment scheduled for 3 days later.
Gabe arrived 45 minutes late. Floor was removed, leveled and replaced. Quarter rounds weren't sealed nor were transitions because he didn't have the right color caulking! I accepted the color they had on hand just to get them out of my house. Gabe told me he could be with his family if he had not had to repair my floor. It wasn't my fault he had to redo the floor. Their attitude was certainly not that of wanting to make a customer happy, rather, that being inconvenienced.
They left before replacing all of the furniture. However they forgot their fan so they came back for it. I made them put the furniture back. They also left a mess, including a nail and wood fragments, on the driveway. After cleaning up the mess they left on the floor itself, I noticed they left a 1/8" gap between two slats beside the dresser. Also, one slat has been splintered on the edge. Sloppy work! Empire Today uses cheap labor, probably undocumented people, whose work is sloppy and they are uncaring of their finished product. I will never use nor recommend Empire Today to anyone.
Thank you for bringing your concerns with your installation experience to our attention. We understand this could be frustrating and we never want our customers to be disappointed in the work that is done in their homes. Flooring was installed on April 1i, 2016. Everything was going good, until it was time to install the wall base. The Waldos the installers brought was 3 1/4'. I needed 4' wall base for everything to look uniform. The installers at this time assured me that they could order the 4 inch wall base and have it installed the next week. I waited for a week with no response. At this time, I called several times to get this issue resolved. It was then explained to me that the 4 inch wall base is no longer carried by Empire. And my options are to either go with a smaller wall base or buy the larger Albanese and have Empire install it. This situation has been an inconvenience to me. I definitely want the 4 inch wall base and it has taken forever to get in contact with Empire. Unfortunately the best resolution to this situation maybe me being refunded the money associated with the Wall base and having another individual install the required wall base.
Updated on 05/12/2016: When the installers showed up, they did not have the correct size wall base. They told me they would order the correct size (never happened). Upon playing phone tag it was explained to me my options were to pay more money or have my wall base they have in stock installed around my place for no additional money. The wall base Empire now carries looks great! So it was an easy decision, but... after waiting all day on May 11, 2016, day the installers were suppose to show up. I am feeling pretty put out. Upon calling multiple times, after the installers never showed... I have been informed the installation team will show up on April 16, 2016. It is just wall base! Not easy for me to understand why it has taken a month to get this issue resolved?
We understand the inconvenience that this may have caused and regret that you installation was not completed as scheduled. We would like to learn more and will contact you shortly.
Thank you.

It's been a month since I met with the salesman. I have a section of my floor still ripped up, and it's been a NIGHTMARE since the installer first showed up. I've had water damage on my floor, taking up a small 2x2 ft section under my toilet. I determined it's not a plumbing issue. It's actually a leak in the flashing on my roof that has been dripping down through the wall when it rains, just happens to be settling between the tub and toilet. I've resolved this issue since.
I met with the salesman, who was very nice and helpful, on 4/8/2016. He gave it a look, took measurements. He noticed the subfloor was squishy so determined that would need to be replaced in a 2x2 ft. section, but assured me this could be done. Great! Put down $100 deposit, liked the price, signed the papers, ready to go. The install date came, man came out, very nice, but I could barely understand what he was saying. There was an obvious language barrier. English was so accented and broken, he would speak 5 sentences and I might make out a part of one of them. He looked at the floor, and right away, just seemed like there was no way he could work on it. He just kept saying, "Lot of water, lot of water". Yes, the floor was damp, but I'm not the expert, so I don't know what to do.
He cuts a small hole in the vinyl and shows me how the moisture is leaking out, so I ask him, "Cant you just tear this section out and replace?" He just keeps saying, "I don't know", and has this look on his face, like he's really hesitant and scared to work on it. He advised me to make sure I know where the leak is coming from and he'll come back. So the next day I call my sales guy, leave a voicemail because he was out of the country, and explain to him that I just thought this could be done based on how I was sold.
The next day, I get a voicemail back from him, explaining they, he told me there could be extra costs if a bigger section needed to be tore out due to water damage. However, that wasn't the issue. The installer wouldn't even touch the job, and I couldn't understand his full explanation. Within a day or two, I get a call from Empire asking to reschedule the job for the 29th, and have the installer come back to just do the work. I agree, and assume the installer will be there in the morning like last time.
On the 29th, around 10:30 am, I get a call from the installation manager, I believe, not sure, but he tells me something about a van being broken down, and they're a bit behind. He said he's going to have a guy come out and drop off the materials to do the work between 12 pm and 2 pm, and the installer will be out between 3 pm and 5 pm. Didn't realize they started jobs this late, but I'm hoping they'll be out earlier and just get it done. The first window passes and nobody shows up. I call Empire to check and make sure everything is still on schedule. The customer service rep tells me, "Yes, I'm set to have a guy show up between 3 pm-5 pm". She also tells me, "The window of operation for work goes until 6 pm", but I should still expect someone out there by 5 pm.
Finally, a guy comes at about 2:30 pm, drops off the materials, very nice guy. He looks at the floor, and tells me again, they should be able to just rip out the old water damaged area and replace with new baseboard. He tells me the installer is running a bit late so he'll probably be out here around the 4 pm to 5 pm time. I said, "Fine, let's just get this done". He gives me the cell number of the install manager, Robert, and says if I have any other problems, call this number, and he'll make these guys get it done. Then he says, "We don't want to inconvenience you any more than we already have". I wait and wait, 4 pm rolls around then 5 pm, nobody shows, and nobody calls. I remember the customer rep on the phone said they operate until 6 pm, so I waited, and gave them until 6 pm, nobody shows, nobody calls.
I call the number of the install manager that was left for me to make sure these guys, get the job done. I call the number,it beeps, and then says, "This number is not in service". I call Empire again, get a customer service rep, and explain to them what happened. They put me on hold and try to reach the installer by phone and the install manager, but are unable to reach them, so they apologize, put all this info in my file. I call it a day and, go to the park with my son. When I get home, I see I missed a call from the installer at 7:30 pm. Too late for excuses at this point. The next day, Saturday 5/30, I get a call from the installer at 7:30 am asking if he can come out and do the work. I had already made plans with my son later that morning/afternoon, and said it wouldn't work. He agreed to come out the following Monday the 2nd.
I call the sales rep and basically tell him, "I still want my floor done, but at this point, I don't believe I should have to pay the quoted amount". I told him the whole ordeal, and he was very understanding. He said I would need to talk to Robert to discuss any price changes or if I was going forward with the installation. Since the first number I had for Robert didn't work, he said, he'd get me the number he had for Robert. He called me back later that day with the number. I had the heavy supplies in my bathroom all weekend, and I had to move them all myself to another room so my 3-year-old son wouldn't get to them.
Monday morning before the installer came out. I tried calling Robert to discuss, just got a voicemail, but if I heard it correctly, the line was for a Dan, not a Robert. I left a voicemail anyway for this poor Dan, and just gave up. Told myself I'll deal with it after the fact, I just want my floor put in. The installer (same guy) calls me and tells me he'll be there in 30-45 minutes. An HOUR AND A HALF later he finally shows up, and the same issue as before. Just says, "Lot of water, lot of water", that's about all I can understand. What I took away from it is he just needed the subfloor to be completely dry before working on it or removing it.
He pulls some of the old vinyl back to show me, and yes, there is water damage, the old subfloor just sort of crumbles, but I was sold on that they could remove that, and replace. Again, he basically says he can't or doesn't want to work on it. He advises ME, to cut away the old vinyl, wait a couple days AGAIN to see if it dries, and he'll come back. So I'm thinking, "Okay, if I can dry this floor out, he'll come back and install", however now he tells me, he can't just remove the old stuff. He has to take out the entire bathroom floor (even the good subfloor) to fix this. I had two other people previously tell me that only the damaged area could be removed/replaced, but the installer wants to rip out my entire subfloor, even though it's in fine condition. So he leaves again.
This is my 3rd attempt come and gone with not knowing what needs to be done. So I remove the vinyl around the damaged spot like the guy told me to do. The subfloor has since dried out. It's now May 3rd, and I'm thinking it looks good and dry, this guy should be able to replace now BUT I get a call today around 4:30 pm from a Carlos. He tells me he's stopping by to pick up some of the supplies that were dropped off last Friday. He says he'll be here in 15-30 minutes. 45 minutes later he shows up, notice the only person to ever show up on time was the salesman from the beginning.
The two men show up, take the supplies, ask for the paperwork on my job. When I realize they are taking everything, I ask my installer if he was coming back in the couple days like he said because my subfloor was dry now, and he said a bunch of stuff, but all I could make out was, "I don't know, call Empire". Then they were gone, and I'm left with a month wasted, a torn up floor, and Empire still has my $100 deposit. Are they done? Is someone coming back? I have no idea. Customer service was atrocious, and I'm fearful to even go on, but my floor needs replacing as you can see how everything was left in the pictures.

I chose Empire for my living room carpet because of their price and everything that they would do. Their rep said they would take away the old rug and clean up underneath it, and they would make sure everything was good when the rug was down and clean. I like the feel of the carpet and it’s very comfortable to walk on. I don’t feel like I'm walking on a board. It’s got a nice cushion to it and it’s easy to keep clean. The installer had to do the installation himself, but he was absolutely fantastic and very courteous. He did the work in a quick and neat manner. I couldn’t ask for a better installation. Empire went above and beyond expectation.

I called Empire Today and they sent Jane out here. She was nice and polite, and everything was fine. I ordered a bedroom rug and I made sure that I stepped on the piece of rug she gave me and it didn't show prints or anything. I was satisfied. However, the rug now has footprints on it. I tried to vacuum it but the footprints won't come up so I'm not satisfied with the rug. I'm disappointed. But I have six girlfriends who came and said nothing's wrong with the rug. It's me because the rugs I have in my house, they're all no footprints.
Empire wanted to exchange it for me though. Jane came up to show up the rugs that Empire has. And I was going to suggest could I get another rug from another company and then bring it up, but then by the time they got to move out all the furniture, it's gonna be costly with the labor again. Empire did try to help me and do everything for me but I said I'll have to live with it. So I'm trying to do my best do that. Maybe if I roll the rug up, the footprints will come up. I was gonna have my stairwells done, but I'm thinking about it. I went shopping at Lowe's but I don't trust them or Home Depot. At least I know I had Empire. The rug was reasonable - it had a fair price. Additionally, the place and the workers were good. I have no complaints about them at all. I would recommend Empire.

BEWARE OF EMPIRE CARPET DEALS! First of all I'm very sad for tomorrow. Bob will be gone 3 years now and it breaks my heart that he died so young, crying all day. The Empire carpet puts the stoppers on my new replacement rug for tomorrow. I am so upset about Empire's promises. This is not the first time they have messed up the delivery of my carpet order.
Tomorrow, they were to rip up the crap rug they put down in June with a higher grade and I waited all day for them to call me and confirm it, but no one called. I called them and the young gentleman sent the higher ups an email in my words. If my rugs are not put down tomorrow, I'll obtain a lawyer, call every news station to report such abuse to me.
A woman whom I've been in touch with from Empire was to set it up for tomorrow and she has not once again. I want her job too, apparently she does not know what she's doing. She's aware of my health problems, lung problems and it's hard for me to breathe. I cleared all stuff from my furniture for tomorrow and now I get this big let down? NO, it had better be made right, my health can't take it. Either Empire gives me my money back, or I get my attorney and call Network news stations, etc. Or they come tomorrow, only tomorrow to rip up this piece of crap they put down in June and put the upgrade rug. I am sick over this.

We bought carpet while they had one of their specials. The sales lady was very nice and helpful. The installers were also super nice and did a pretty good job with the 3 rooms and stairs. Unfortunately they made a pretty big mistake in the hallway. During the day light it's not as obvious but come sundown this very clear line in the middle of the hallway is visible and very annoying. The installers put two carpets together in the middle of the hallway instead of between rooms. The carpets are turned different directions so when you vacuum half the carpet is light and the other is dark. It looks tacky, as if I added a slightly different colored carpet later. Disappointed.

We hired Empire to install carpet in September of 2015 and within weeks the seams were unraveling. They sent a specialist out to inspect it in January and then stated they would be replacing the entire carpeting in our home due to the poor job. We agreed to having it done again no matter how much this will inconvenience us again. Well what now matters is this is how it is ending as they backed out of it on the day of installation after rescheduling it twice leaving us in boxes in our home for close t a month with a newborn as well and one recovering from knee surgery. When you read the details below you see why I would never recommend Empire Today for carpeting...
Bill at Empire Today! I want you to know that I did not agree to sign a settlement agreement, nor will I. Also, after reading it, you stated that Empire is at no fault. You clearly stated that after seeing the inspection photos it was a poor installation and your company was going to redo our entire home. And, on more than one occasion you stated that the job was not done well and that you were sending your top installation team to reinstall new carpet. On Tuesday, April 5th, your team arrived and informed us that they would be unable to do the job because of the padding. On Thursday, April 7th, Kendrick in sales visited us again to show us samples and from there we selected the carpet. You placed the order for the carpet chosen and scheduled installation for Thursday, April 14th.
At 11am, Wednesday, April 13, you left me a voice message asking me to return your call and I did. The following day, April 14th, I called at 7:32am, 7:45am, and 9:57am and I finally heard back from you close to 11AM only to inform us that your company would not be installing carpet and they would agree to ripping out what we currently have, and a refund would be issued. (Bill in customer service in Chicago then brought in his legal team to try to settle a refund.)
The endless lack of consideration from the entire Empire team has left us with a very disappointing experience in regards to customer service and quality. The ongoing inconvenience to our lives and our home has put myself and my entire family on edge. The unnecessary expenses incurred due to Empire has left us no choice but to contact a lawyer in which we already have for all of the damages your company has caused. Today was the absolute finishing touch when we received a phone call shortly after you and I got off of the phone stating that the installers were on their way. (Really, this was like salt in a wound) Erin then arrived at our home to greet the installers (that never showed up) and upon arrival, I informed her that you canceled the installation. The lack of communication between your whole entire team is unbelievable.
For the record, you sent the same salesperson out to us to choose the carpet, and if you wanted control of what we chose, then you should have never given us the option of what you are declining to install. Your job as a business is to satisfy your customers in which you have not. As I stated in my review, I am not and will not be going away!
We never want our customers to be disappointed in our services or products and regret the lack of follow up you’ve received. We understand your frustration and will be contacting you shortly to discuss the situation in more detail.
Thank you.

Just got off the phone with Empire. I called because a piece of my laminate flooring has shifted and there is a gap in my flooring. I was told that I have to pay $100 for them to come out and fix the flooring. I'm sorry did I pay thousands of dollars for the floors to shift or should I as a customer and Empire know that the floors should be tight enough so they don't move!!! I was told that I am out of warranty and it had to be within a year. Once again, I don't expect for the flooring to move if done correctly. This is not the first time that I have had to call Empire. I have also had to call them back to fix my stairs and laminated to the same area I was calling about more than once.
I will be calling BBB. But would warn anyone against using Empire for their laminate needs. I can not believe that this could not be fixed by Empire even if the warranty had expired because this is certainly a bad job on the part of Empire. NEVER USE THEM. They had the nerve to ask if I want them to come out and fix it, UMMM, so you can do another bad job and I have to call you back again? No thanks.

We used to have a laminate installed in another room and I wasn’t too happy with it. So when an Empire Today salesman came, I liked the product and its price so we went ahead with them. We purchased laminate flooring and had them installed in our living room, dining room and hall area. The price was a little higher but I like the design and the color. Hopefully, it’s going to be durable. Their salesman and the men that put the flooring down were very nice. I was very pleased. It was a great experience.

Well... Before I chose to use Empire... I read the reviews on other sites and I have to say that they weren't very good. Yet I went with them anyway. My Empire representative's name was John. I'm glad that they didn't send me a newbie. He was very knowledgeable in their products and he was very personable. I am a no nonsense type of person and so is he. I haggled with him a little bit. He reluctantly gave me what I wanted, at the price I wanted and was there through the entire project til the end. I was very pleased with the floors and also the carpet. The installers did an excellent job through and through. Very detailed and clean.
I would recommend this company only if you know exactly what you want. If you don't know... I would suggest you ask for John. He had lots of pics of the recent projects that the company had worked on that he handled personally on his cell phone that gave me a better idea of what to get. He took pics of my new floors as well. The interior of my home looks totally different and modern with my new floors. I am beyond pleased with the service I received. Thanks John **!!!

I purchased a rug from Empire Today and had it installed in a bedroom. It was a good quality rug for the price. The people working there were very nice, they left the place clean and did everything accurately. They did a wonderful job. They came, gave me the estimate and two days later, they installed the rug. Compared to Lowe's, who took measurements and told me they'll get with me, which is a long ordeal type of thing, Empire has the best prices, better quality and best time. I liked everything and have in fact recommended them.

We purchased hardwood flooring from them and had them installed in our dining area, office, foyer, and main hallways. I like its color and though their quality may be equal compared to other brands, their cost was better. Everything was great and the install crew was fabulous. My wife purchased manufactured wood flooring from Empire in 10/15. This floor was installed incorrectly the first time. After repeated calls to customer service, calls not returned and workers never showing up half my floor was torn up and was supposedly fixed the second time by their Hispanic area supervisor who called me a ** in Spanish. The floor was still horrible to walk on and after repeated calls more runaround where no one is accountable at Empire, the floor was pulled up a third time by another supervisor.
I was present this time and found that they never joined the seams and placed cardboard under my $7500 dollar floor. That is why the floors felt hollow and spongy. Instead of leveling the floor properly the installers tore off pieces of the box the wood came in and put in under the wood floor. I will upload the pictures. The customer service rep from the Baltimore region stated this was not fraud, it was as a labor deficiency or a short cut. I was told by this jerk I was not allowed to quote him on any review boards so that was not a direct quote.
Now my entire floor needs torn up a fourth time and replaced. Damage was also done to my wood steps where leveling cement was slopped and I still have a closet door still laying in my living room that was never rehung 5 months ago. Empire has treated my wife and I with contempt ever since this occurred. This issue has yet to be resolved and I have already paid Empire in full. If you live in the Harrisburg, PA and Baltimore, MD area and your wood floors feel spongy you may want to have them torn up before your warranty runs out. I have asked to be called by customer service rep NOT from the Baltimore/Harrisburg area and was given times that I would receive a call. No one ever called me.
Dear Timothy,
It was extremely disappointing to hear about the multiple issues you have been experiencing, this is not the level of service we want any of our customers to experience. We take your concerns very seriously, and will follow up with you until a resolution is reached.

I took off three days from work to have laminate and carpet installed in my house. The first day no one showed up. The second day a crew showed up to install the laminate, but they did not have enough material to finish the job. The third day I had to call to find out where the carpet crew was. I was told it was rescheduled for the next day because the laminate was not done. I told the manager I could not miss another day of work. He did get a guy out that afternoon to finish the laminate and set up an appointment to put the carpet in on Saturday.
Saturday the installer called and stated he was loaded up and heading for my house but had to stop on the way and finish a small job and that they would be there in the early afternoon. By 3:30 he had not showed up so I called Empire. They said the installer was not answering his call and no one answered at the store. Trying again for this Saturday, and as of today I still have not received a call as requested from the store manager.

Empire did a really good job the first time I had installation. I also considered quality, raw deal and the price as some of the factors why I went with them again. Their salesman was very helpful when he came out and said what I needed rather than what I wanted. He was also knowledgeable about what product is the best which is a good selling point, too. Also, their installer and his helper did a very good job with the vinyl flooring in my living room and my hall. They put it down and it's staying - it's not getting bubbles. I like the wood-type flooring and its durability. So far, it seems very good quality. Empire Today was excellent and everything seemed to be very nice. As soon as they have the best deal, I want to get them back out to do the other room.

We went to a few carpeting brands and they were a little pricey and we decided to check with Empire carpeting because the original carpeting that we had first time was actually from them and we liked everything that they had done for us. We decided instead of going to somebody else we're just going to come back to Empire. We had new carpeting put in our living room hallway and stairway going up to the master bedroom. We like everything about the carpet - the padding and the quality.
The installers did a marvelous job. I don't think I've seen installed carpeting as done well as what these two guys did. They were very efficient. They weren't aware of the fact that when they did get here they were required to move a few pieces of furniture because the salesperson didn't put it on the paperwork. When I broke the news to them they said, "Okay, no problem." They did it anyways. It was above and beyond our expectations and we are deeply satisfied. If anybody asked me who would I get to put carpeting in, I would refer Empire.

I purchased some tiles and blinds from Empire Today. The tiles were installed in the guest bedroom and the blinds all through the house. I’m not 100% happy with some of my blinds because I was considering these to be custom blinds and thought they would cover the whole bottom of the top window but they don’t. They called me to tell me when the installer was coming out. The guy who came out was really good but he was supposed to be there on a Saturday and never showed up. I called him but he said they never told him anything about the job. I wasn’t happy about that because I lost a day’s work because I’m hourly. I had no problem with the flooring, just the blinds because I paid good money for it. I could’ve gone to Home Depot or Lowe’s and bought them to do what they did. On the other hand, I like the color of the tiles and they have good people that work for them. But whoever is running the show or scheduling was the problem.

Installers arrived on time. They removed my old carpet and padding. After that (which was about an 1 1/2 hrs on the job), one of them left for lunch. He was gone about 2 hrs. Then, they took about another hour for lunch. My daughter was ill so I let them know that I had to take her to the doctor. Once I returned, one of the installers was gone. He never notified me that he had to leave for anything. I tried communicating with the other gentleman but he barely spoke English. After about 3 plus hours, the other installer returned. He blamed the installation dept for not giving him enough materials to patch the floor.
Finally, around 5 pm, they began patching and leveling my floor. On the first day, they only done about 3 1/2 hrs of work. I had no flooring in most of my home. My furniture was in my garage and in the kitchen. I had to get a hotel room for my daughter and I over night. Since the job was not completed, I had to call in on Saturday and miss a day of work. On Saturday, they arrived at 9:58 am. They worked a little more. Around 1:30 pm, the installed, advised me that he couldn't complete the job because he ran out of flooring. Again, he blamed the installation department. He said that that they didn't give him enough materials for the job. He assured me that he spoke to his supervisor and that he would returning on Monday at 7 am to complete the job. So, I had to miss another day of work.
But, on Monday morning no one showed up so I called customer service to find out what was going on. I was told that my flooring had to be ordered and wouldn't be in until Tuesday. So, the installers would be picking up the product from the warehouse and coming to install it on Tuesday. Since April 22nd, 2016, I contacted Empire about 17 times. They continued to give me the runaround. I was told that a supervisor or GM would contact me. No one ever contacted me. I had to call and request to speak to a supervisor. Once I spoke to the GM, he contradicted what the installer said. He said it was enough flooring in stock to complete the job. He stated that the contractor didn't communicated what he needed so why was my flooring installation on Saturday? Why do I have to wait an additional 3 days to have my floors done?
Empire required payment upfront before any installation is scheduled. As a consumer, it is not my problem that there was no communication between the contractor and Empire Today. I requested a refund or discount for the unprofessionalism of the installers and inconvenience (time & loss of work). Of course, I'm getting the runaround. One of the installers was more worried about the use of my wifi than completing the job. They even damaged the ceiling fan in my daughter's room. I've used Empire Today in the past and didn't have a problem but this was the most horrible experience I've ever had. Honestly, I wish I never got the laminate floors. It will be a long time before I do anymore work to my home. I will NEVER use them again.

I had in my mind what I wanted to do but when he gave it a price, I was like, “Hey, this is terrific.” He wasn’t pushy but very helpful. Then when he told me I could finance it, that was the icing on the cake. I appreciated that it could be financed for a year because I’d put out so much money on that duplex. It works out for the best because I just had to pay 10 percent down.
I’m happy with the whole process. The installers were great. They were in and out and didn’t leave a big mess. Doug, the man that did the vinyl and put the base down, was absolutely excellent. He had to come back and he was so nice about coming back. I didn’t call Empire about that, he had given me his direct number. I was ready for a fight especially when I knew I needed him to come back, and Doug was just the best. My only concern is I was told that the vinyl swell with heat. Installers showed up 4/18 with less carpet than needed to complete the job including 3 rooms which seems to be cut off on the contract, it's only partly showing. No installation done in master bedroom that was on the contract. Old pad was not removed in one of the bedrooms, new carpet installed over it. Tack was glued to existing laminate FLOATING flooring in the other room. (This will damage the carpet and laminate, and more specifically it will leave my home open to mold and bacteria as the laminate cannot breathe under the pad they actually did put in if moisture becomes trapped under the floating floor.)
Carpet not measured to fit the room, quarter rounds exposed, though flooring should have been removed COMPLETELY. Carpet is thin enough to see shiny plastic backing, looks nothing like what the salespersons sample looked like. Exposed Tack, and carpet thin enough to be injured by tack. Installer informed me I was ripped off, and that this carpet is bad, but knew where I could get some nice carpet. As it turns out, he is the only honest person other than my LVP installer that I've worked with.
Received call from Xavier Tues. 4/19 regarding room transition strips and when it was mentioned we had a carpet claim from 4/18 (date of install) and wanted it gone - he insisted he is not the one that would handle this complaint. Customer service call initiated by myself later that day informed me Xavier was the guy I needed to speak with, that he was in charge.
Customer service twice escalated my complaint to the office of the president 4/19 and 4/20. As turns out is not a president but a Ms. ** who is only a retention specialist per her voicemail. I was promised repeatedly a 2-4 hour wait for a returned call from said office of the president, and never once have I heard back from THAT office.
No response from Empire despite filing a claim as requested on Monday 4/18/16 - in fact heard from no one until 4/20/16 at which time I was finally heard (thank you Ms **) and told it would be worked on, and that they needed approval from the Corporate office. Orlando office states refund is approved given the above circumstances, however no response from the Corporate office as of 1pm EST the following day as to whether or not anyone will be picking up this product and when I should expect to see my refund.
My house is a disaster and I am now going to be without flooring for weeks while waiting for the new company to be able to complete the install and I will be paying extra to rip up the glued down tack on my laminate as this has caused me to be unable to remove the flooring myself. I might look into seeking damages in this regard. Either that or a further discount on the LVP flooring to compensate for the cost of removal of what should have been removed in the first place.

Empire installed our carpet on March 23, 2016. About a week later, we contacted Rex ** to inform them the installers had damaged the tile on our bathroom floor and tub with our entertainment system. Rex ** pretty much called my husband a liar and said the only way they could've damaged the tile is by dropping something on it. They sent installation manager out to take pictures and my husband pointed out that you could see the seams in the middle of the room. He took pictures of the bathroom and left. A week later after several days of calling, we finally got in touch with Rex ** who informed us that the tiles were damaged because of structural issues, but they could replace them for a discounted rate.
We have since then had another company replace the tiles and they informed us there is no structural issues with our house. We have been speaking with Yushanda about the sloppy installation and we were given the option to have Rex ** or installation manager come out to look at our carpet. Rex ** came out and informed my husband he did not see any issues with our carpet, that every installation will have seams. I understand there will be seams because we have large rooms, but these seams should not be visible. The carpet we had before was probably 7-10 years old and you could not see the seams in the same rooms. After almost a month of dealing with these issues, we have contacted Empire since this meeting and asked them to remove the carpet and refund our money.
We understand that we have been in contact with a manager in regards to this issue and will continue to follow up until a resolution is reached.

Our experience with Empire Today wasn’t all that great. The carpet they gave me was a standard one and it’s really thin. Their dude didn’t bring it down and tell us what they charge. Also, the salesman didn’t give us and tell us everything the way he was supposed to. He should have been more upfront about the product that he was selling. Instead, he told us one thing and then everything got twisted around to something else. I know the carpet we picked has a 15-year warranty on it. If any stain gets in and we can’t get it out or they can’t get out, they'd replace the carpet. But I haven’t called and confirmed it yet. I don’t know if the guy was telling the truth.
They should have gotten my contract right too. They wrote my contract on a Wells Fargo paper and then when the other people sent me a bill, everything I got told wasn’t true. As far as the company, I would recommend Empire to somebody. They did a great job. They did come around, installed the carpet, and helped me out with about $300 on my account. Empire Today will have to reinstall my floors. The floors look good but they didn’t get installed correctly. Some of the boards were starting to come up and the floors haven’t even been down for three weeks, and they were making a lot of noise. There were creaks on the floor when I walked on them and some of the boards look like they were going to come up. So I called because it’s still under warranty. They had someone come out and they confirmed that it wasn’t correct. The floor wasn’t even level. He took out a level and it was so off that he couldn’t even lay it down flat, so they didn’t do a very good job installing the floors at all. So now I’m going back through the process of having to reschedule it and it’s not been very easy. I asked them if they could put some sort of hurry up on this because when they came out and inspect it, they pulled the trim up from the wall and the floor. And I’ve got a one-year-old son walking around on the floor.
The floors are getting significantly worse since they pulled up the trim. And it’s now been 10 days since they did that inspection. And I haven’t got anything back of what’s the next step. I keep asking them that but they keep telling me that they have to get approval from their manager or that they have to go through this inspection process. I don’t care what that process is, I just want them to do it. They keep calling me back and telling me they haven’t forgotten about me, which I greatly appreciate, but I want them to do something because I've already done my part. Therefore, I will not recommend them at all. I had nothing but all high hopes for them from the start until this issue came about. I understand they sub those things out but they should have a more in depth process.

Let me starts from saying my husband and I were first time homebuyers and one of the main reason we chose Empire was because we felt this was a well established company that would guide us better in the process of choosing our new floor. The sales part was seamless (of course) and the installation only took one day for the laminate floor we chose. After installation, we noticed the floor made a lot of noise when we walked on it and we gave it the benefit of the doubt for a couple of weeks thinking that this was normal because it was a new floor. After researching and asking around, we noticed this was an issue that needed to be addressed, so we called Empire and after explaining the situation they suggested for an inspector to check out the floor. They told us an inspector could only do site visit on Thursdays during business hours, for which my husband had to make arrangements at work.
They came on March 17th and after calling for almost two weeks for the results, we were told there had to be a second inspection because the first one wasn't done right (?). Then the second inspector came on April 9th and after this inspection, Empire suggested for a THIRD inspector to visit our home (this latter would come on behalf of the manufacturer). Then the third inspection was done on April 19th and this well experienced gentleman said to us that laminate floor should have never been installed in our home, because the base floor was completely uneven and they should've made us aware of that. Now, after almost $6,000 and two months later, we are left with a crackling floor all over the house where one can't even get up to the bathroom at night without waking up everyone else.
Needless to say, not only the service from Empire has been very undesirable but the professionalism is nowhere to be found in this company. They have no respect for people’s time nor money. Please shop local and trust your neighborhood small owners, even if they're inexperienced, they cannot be worse than the people at Empire.

July 9, 2015 had new carpet installed in new home. Moved in the following weekend and noticed that there was a bad area in the carpet. It looked as if the installer cut the carpet with the utility knife and they came out and repaired the area and it also looks as if I have 3 seams but only have one, and the entire time I was speaking to a rep. at Empire and I was told that I could have the carpet replaced for a nominal fee. It was not my fault the carpet was coming out. The carpet is literally coming out every time I vacuum and I have sent pictures of the problem and nothing. Would not recommend Empire Today!!

I accept that a 2 hour window is needed when an appointment is made. What I don't accept is that they don't meet this and do not call to let you know. 3 to 5 was my scheduled time. I took those 2 hours off of work to be at home. At approx. 4:40pm I decided to call Empire to verify that someone was on the way. They said that they were over an hour away. "How can that be? My apt was 3-5". I was very upset and told whomever I was talking to, to cancel my apt.

My carpet looks amazing in my house and it feels like I have a brand new house upstairs. My only little complaint I have is the installers did mess up some of my paint on the walls and left marks on my walls. Also, some of my baseboards were dented too. Other than that I will refer a friend to Empire. My saleslady was excellent, kind, and took time with me to select the right carpet for me. I will call her again when I'm ready to do my bathrooms, kitchen, and front doorway.

They had to move furniture for a 3500 sq ft house. They were very careful and they move everything back to where it came from. They worked tirelessly until the job was done to our satisfaction. If I ever need carpet again, I will call Empire Today. I recommend them to all our friends.

What a FANTASTIC experience! The salesperson was PHENOMENAL! I think he's the reason I chose Empire to begin with. I had a salesperson from a competitor a couple of days before and he was rude and demanding. The installers were great! They did a great job installing, and were very careful with the furniture that they had to move from one room to another. They were quick and thorough. One of them even brought in a package that was delivered by the post office. That sure wasn't a part of his job, but I thought it was very considerate of him to do it. I couldn't possibly be more happy than I am with my Empire experience. I guarantee that I will (and have) definitely recommend anyone I know to use Empire Today.

Original Review: April 18, 2016
I discovered a trim fixture for the laminate flooring was not attached during initial installation. I have contacted Empire Today and taken 3 days off of work to be available for them to correct the problem. Each time either the appointment was cancelled at the last minute or the repair person call after the appointment time. The company's warranty coverage is worthless if they cannot or will not fix installation errors. I have finally requested they either refund the cost of the flooring or remove their product and put my original floor back to its original condition. I was told I would receive a call from customer service within 35 minutes. It is now several hours later and no call. This may be a case of getting what you pay for.

I'm a regular customer at Empire Today and when I need carpets, I call them. I like it when they bring all different carpets - like the one-day service. I also like that they get it done fast and I don’t have to wait for a couple of days, like most companies. I had a carpet made for the bedroom by them and the quality of the carpet is good, cushiony and soft. I have pets, so I bought the one where if they have an accident, it just stays up. Their workers were also friendly, kind and hardworking.

I have had a laminate floor installed by Empire Today about a year-and-a-half ago. The installers and customer was initially great. Over time, I started to notice glue marks on the floor and glue marks on the trim that they installed after time wants dust collected on it. I paid for a long-term warranty on the floor and started noticing that the boards were curving up and bowing in certain areas. I thought that Empire strives on having good quality products but I was wrong.
I called the warranty department and was immediately blown off and refused service. I told them that I use a steam mop on the floor which stated was perfectly safe for laminate floors and they immediately told me it was my fault and they refuse to fix it. There was no working with me, no compromise, no friendly customer service whatsoever. I feel that they will do anything they can to get out of fixing their defective stuff. Please use caution when buying products from this company.

Had new carpet installed Nov 2015. No problems with installation. After 3 months we noticed matting. Called Empire. Reported issue. Was very unhappy with customer service and all the questions. What kind of vacuum, how often do we vacuum? How many people live in the house, how many pets, do you wear shoes in the house, etc. I understand the question to a certain degree. But honestly I was calling about carpet that was maybe 4 months old. I felt as if they were questioning my use & care of the carpet to find fault rather trying to help a customer.
I was instructed that they would have a service call to come look at the carpet. The gentlemen came out, took picture, and agreed it did look matted. I was then told I would receive a call from Empire to see what they thought. I never received a call. I called them after 2 weeks. That being said... I was then instructed to have my now 5-month-old carpets professionally cleaned at my expense. So today I am having carpets cleaned so we will see what Empire has to say after. I will keep you posted.

We had laminate flooring installed from Empire Today. A friend of mine recommended that I call them, so I did. We ordered before Christmas. Things happened and I had to keep putting the salesman off and he was very understanding about it. The company didn’t cancel me or anything and the installers were topnotch. I liked the color, it’s got the wide planks and their price was very reasonable. I didn’t want wood because I have to be way too careful with that. We have friends that have dogs and I like to move furniture around. I didn’t want to have to walk on eggshells or have anybody be afraid to walk in the room. It’s a very sustainable product and so far, so good. The experience has been very comforting.

I had recently a laminate installed on the bedroom and hallway by Empire and they did a good job. However, I had a bad experience with my first flooring with Empire four years ago. I had carpet put in the living room, hall and part of the family room. I had laminate put in the kitchen and the other half of the family room. Up against my sink is a gap that is one inch wide. There are two boards that the gap is one inch. They keep scooting back, so that I have little spaces between the boards out in the middle of the floor. It's my fault, I didn't complain about it before.
We had to put laminate in the bedroom and get rid of the carpet because of the wheelchair. My daughter has a friend whose husband is a salesman for Empire. I told my daughter her friend's husband can come out and we'll talk about it. When he came out, he gave me a decent price and he looked at the floor and said, "That is definitely shotty workmanship." After they installed, I paid to have an inspector come out. They charged me twice because I gave the man who came out to inspect a $75 check and he phoned that in and they charged it by telephone that day. Then four days later, they charged my check also. I called about that and they said it would take 15 days to get that straightened out.
Then they called and reported that the man who inspected it said that it was a maintenance issue; that I wasn't taking care of the floor properly. It was too wet. I am thinking if their flooring is going to shrink a whole inch because I mop it, then there's a problem somewhere. So I told her that she's got to be kidding me because that cannot be the problem with the flooring. She says, "Well, we can still send another inspector out." I asked if I have to pay for that one too and she said no. So there is another inspector coming out that is not with Empire. He's an outside inspector and he's coming out the 12th to look at it and give us his opinion. With my husband’s health and all this is going on, it has driven me nuts.
