    We had the bathtub-shower combination restored in January through Bath Fitter after a coworker’s recommendation and they were phenomenal.     As far as the installer, great worker, very personable. The cost is way too much for what it looks like I received; now I'm stuck with a bill that I could have gotten for 10 times less than what I am not stuck paying. As for the $100 "gift", to refer someone, (which I probably will not) this could benefit me better as a payment off of the bill. So now I'm truly stuck, just had surgery, so that's an additional bill, on top of the usual household bills. Not a happy camper right about now!

    I didn't know about any other remodeling company and have always known about Bath Fitter because their TV commercials are usually so cute. So, I had them take out my old bathtub for me and they built a completely new shower. They said it was the largest one they've ever done so, it's nice and spacious. It is a handicap shower and it's big enough for if I ever had to get a wheelchair or a really nice bath seat in there. The two fellows that came were pretty quick with installing the system. They said it would take a day and a morning, but it only took a day so I would recommend them.

    In November of 2014, I had the tub and shower in my upstairs bathroom covered. In addition, I had the tile walls in the remainder of the bathroom covered with wainscoting. The job was completed in one and a half days and updated the bathroom from its original 1962 look to a much more modern appearance. The installer was friendly and on time. He did a very good job of getting the work done and cleaned up before he left. So far, I am very pleased with the outcome.

    We purchased a home in which a Bath Fitter remodel had already been done. Soon after moving in, we started having issues with the bathroom. The Bath Fitter tub which was placed over the original tub does not fit properly so there is space between the two. When my husband and son stand in the tub it flexes down with their weight and has a bounce. The problem with this is that when the bottom goes down, it pulls away from the wall on the top edge. Water gets in where the wall and the tub meet because the caulk isn't flexible enough to be tugged on everyday. You can hear the water slosh between the two tubs.

    This same stress is also making a crack on a grout line where more water can get in and down the side of the tub. We caulked several time, but can't get the water out from between the tubs. When we called Bath Fitters they said we didn't have a lifetime guarantee because we were not the owners when it was installed. They sent someone out though who caulked it again, but didn't solve any problems. The spray on tile paint is also chipping in spots and has not held up on the grout, so some of the wall has its original grout showing and some the Bath Fitter tan enamel sprayed-on grout. I would trade my Bath Fitter bathroom for the original grey 1956 bathroom in a minute.

    From the sales through the installation we had a great experience with Bath Fitter and are super pleased with the finished product. Everyone was pleasant and friendly.     Let's be honest. This work could be done quite a bit cheaper, but it would also take a great deal more time. The work was completed on time and we have no real concerns about quality. Our chief complaints are that the used car salesman like tactics by the salesman are just plain silly. We were given the special 20% off deal, but we HAD to make a decision immediately. This was a lot of money for us to be spending. I almost put the brakes on the whole thing because of how off-putting the cheesy sales tactics were. Not to mention about two days after the salesman was at our house, we received a 20% off coupon from BATH FITTER in the mail. I guess that special deal the sales guy gave us was not so special, now was it? :-/

    The repeated solicitation calls to our home after the fact were/are also annoying. They preface the call by asking how the work was done... but that is only a ploy to hit you with a sales pitch to do the other bathrooms in your home. I also think that after spending a couple of grand a follow up phone call or letter after installation would be nice, just to see if we were pleased with the work or had any questions/concerns. In all, when people ask how our experience was I give them my thoughts as outlined above.

    I went with Bath Fitter because I wanted to get a company that's been around for a while. In January of this year, I had my shower stall redone. It was in an originally old fashioned tile, which I was tired of cleaning, and needed regrouting. Really pretty bad shape. The installation turned out pretty good. They told me exactly what to expect and what not, however, the caulking on some of the panels might have to be recaulked. But the guy said that it's a lifetime guaranty.

    I had a rental house down in South Carolina and up north and we suddenly had some plumbing issues. The word I got was the only solution to it was to take the tub out. It was my wife who actually saw the Bath fitter brochure in the mail and said, "Well, why don't we inquire with Bath Fitter?" We did. That certainly took care of the problem but that particular fix didn't work out. We had what was referred to as a floating tub. Bath Fitter sent another team in and they redid it. The second installation was fine. I thought that the first installation was fine too until it got a little squishy. When you stepped in the tub, you could feel there is water between the old tub and the new tub. They had the problem and it was a little bit of a setback but Bath Fitter had no problem with going back and redoing the job. I'm satisfied so much so that I had a second bathtub in that same house that I had them do as well.

    We had our old tub and tub walls refitted by Bath Fitter in Jan 2015, and it looks wonderful. I was concerned that I was getting mold, but my installer said it was just built up dirt. He removed all the old walls, cleaned everything and put new walls in. He re-plumbed the old pipes and hid them in the wall (they were visible in the adjoining bedroom). Then he put in the new tub-liner. It is a vast improvement to our bathroom. We have since installed a new toilet and plan on putting in a new sink, medicine cabinet and lighting to upgrade the whole bathroom.

    The sales person comes over - gets the measurements for the tub & shower. When they came to install everything, they put the shower walls up, then when it came time to put the shell over the tub it didn't fit! We had a cast iron tub and live in an older home, so they had to give me a whole new tub! Great! So they came back to install the tub & they had to redo the shower walls again!!

    About 3 weeks later my tub starts leaking into my kitchen, so I have a hole in my ceiling from the leak. Had to call a plumber and spend another $500.00! They wanted me to use a plumbing company they work with (too expensive!). So I called a local plumber which was a lot cheaper! I'm sending them that bill!! Do you think someone from management would come & look at the damage, not at all... For the money I paid I could of got my whole bathroom done for that amount!! Never again will I hire Bath Fitter, I will spread the word!!! This is the Bath Fitter in Valparaiso, Indiana!

    I was happy with the product and thinking of getting my second bathroom done, BUT suddenly noticed a black mark in the corners of my shower. Called up Bath Fitter and they asked to send pictures. They confirmed it was mold and fixing charges are $190 for minimum two hrs + $95/hr (depending on hrs needed) + tax. Nobody had initially mentioned that mold could come and it would not be covered.     There were some good and bad things but the overall experience with Bath Fitter was good. Kevin, our sales rep did a good job of explaining the product to us but he was impossible to reach when we called. We had some important questions and that became very frustrating. But the person who installed the equipment was outstanding. I want to compliment him. He did some serious work for two days and he knew what he was doing. However, Jeff, the architect was a little awkward. He parked in an area we told him not to, and he totally ignored our plea. But the final product is what's important and it's great. I just like to ask about the metal fixtures of the shower head and the controls. Those seem to get spots on it easily, making it difficult to clean. Is somebody from the company able to help us with this? Other than that, everything was great.

    The tub liner we had installed split after just a few years because it did not fit properly. Workers removed it a year ago and took new measurements several times; bringing in test liners. Nothing fit correctly. They never came back & phone calls to the Union County, NJ office have gone unanswered. The tub has been unusable now for more than 1 year. Family members have to help my daughter who is on disability with MS to the 2nd floor bathroom to shower. They damaged tiles but insisted they didn't and wanted photos of the bathroom before they did the initial work. Who has that? It looks like my next step is to contact an attorney.

    We are pretty satisfied with our new shower. However when it was installed, the worked cut one of our electrical lines and we had to call in an electrician to fix it which wasn't an easy job. So it cost us more money to have it corrected which we weren't happy about. There was an inspector who came and spoke to us about it but nothing was done to reciprocate our loss. Also, when the fiberglass tub was removed, not enough caution was used and there was fiberglass all over the place. A week later I was in the hospital bleeding from my lungs. Although we couldn't prove that the fiberglass caused it, there was a probability because I was coughing so much after the tub was removed. So even though we love our shower, the installer was not careful and expected to receive some payback for our troubles.

    This company who I wrote a review on earlier this week when after canceling the install scheduled July 9 due to a family conflict with 86 yr old mother, the company refused to give back our $1500 deposit. 3 days later, perhaps with encouragement from Home Depot, they contacted us and indicated they would return our entire deposit! A pleasant shock but it's only fair to update their reaction. It was appreciated.

    As a gift to our parents in their upper 80's, we decided to upgrade their 70-year old bathroom and replace the tub with a shower. They stopped taking showers to avoid climbing in/out of the tub. We bought a new shower curtain and drapes, plus new tile, baseboard molding, and paint at Home Depot. Our folks were pleased with the results. We saw the Bath Fitter display at HD and set up a rep visit. The $5130 cost was a surprise but the shower was in bad shape and we signed a contract. The rep from T&S Bath Improvement in Erie, PA had filled out the contract indicating we needed to put about 20% OR $1000 as a deposit. He said the piping and drain lines in the basement would need to be changed to fit the 6" basin stand-up shower and they would mold the walls when the came to install everything. We were sure of doing the work and put $1500 down.

    It was May 15 but they were so busy, they couldn't do the work until July 8. Problem is we bought our parents farm nearby but live in NV most of the year. So we booked flights to return for the install. Before leaving, we had to clear out access to basement piping and the small room behind the bathroom to the water piping. Our 86-yr. old mom is a collector and these rooms we stuffed with "junk". Dad was supportive and we cleared out some before we left intending to finish access work in July. But when we returned, mom was very upset with the cleaning we had done and basically we had to cancel just to have peace in the family.

    I called the rep we worked with, he said we would $2400 to cancel (their material costs and we assumed profit). We objected and late the following day, one owner called us and said he was wrong, but she was keeping our entire $1500 deposit saying it was their normal 33%. Of course we said your rep wrote $1000 on the contract and we made it $1500...but that didn't faze her. She said it was a custom job and we canceled too late. Our problem, besides giving all that money for nothing, is they were changing our drain and water piping to fit their pretty standard show stall. So for sure they'll sell it to someone else. We are retired on a fixed income - our worst experience ever with a contractor. Be forewarned if you work with Bath Fitters near western NY!

    We went to our local Home & Garden Show, talked with sales rep. from Bath Fitter, like the product and signed to have him come review our tub in our home. He came out, we signed a contract April 4th and was told by the sale rep. installation would be around June 1. Come June 1 office calls and stated they will need to push installation back due to an installer being injured. First date she had was in July around the 10th. After explaining to her, we are putting our house on the market and just was waiting to have the liner installed to finish paperwork for this. She all of a sudden could accommodate me and had June 25th available for install.

    Come June 25th installer shows up and ended up cracking the new tub liner. He would have manager call us, "we will work to get you taken care of". Manager never, called! Later that afternoon my husband called the office, they were working on the situation. Final call was, new liner is ordered and we will be in contact. Week later, husband calls, got told liner is ordered and might be on the truck arriving next Monday July 6th. She was waiting for email to confirm but would call us tomorrow morning. Feel like we are getting the run around. Three to four weeks fit in the plan of events, 12+ weeks does not. We have no answers for realtor or buyer. So disappointed.

    It was the second time that we've used Bath Fitter. We have used them 18 years ago when we owned an older house that needed a nasty fit for redoing the bathroom.     One of us is handicapped, so we have been thinking about having a walk-in shower.     We've wanted to redo our bathroom and we didn't know who to use. So we picked up three brochures from the fair that they had here. One of them we didn't care too much about and the other one has a sales representative who was pushy. So I just said "Let's go with Bath Fitter." Their sales rep came over and he was just the best. We have been researching and we already decided that we wanted to go with Bath Fitter.

    They were really awesome. The outcome is really nice. We're really enjoying it a lot. The installer was really good too. He was busy doing his work but in between when he'd go from the bathroom to out in the garage and do something, we ask him questions and he was really nice about it. He talked to us and wasn't stuck up or anything. We didn't have any problems with him.

    We had a few problems with the design. We did a bath tub liner and the design’s color that we picked out isn’t available for color matching. But the people at Bath Fitter here in Kent, Washington were really good. They stayed on top and they kept calling us and letting us know what the status was. And so it got to the point where it was getting delayed and stuck. They had offered us to go with the different design which was the same color and everything that we wanted. They had them in another town here. It was a little bit different design. But when she first asked me, I said, "Well let's just wait and see what happens."

    But then it just kept getting some issues like the color wasn't coming out right and it wasn't up to Bath Fitter's standards so they weren't going to send it. So it kept getting later and later. She called again and I said, "Let's just go ahead and go with that other design from the other branch." So the guy was here the next day to install it right away. It's not like we had to keep calling and asking them. They would call and tell us what's going on. I would totally recommend them.

    Nice young man as installer. HOWEVER, the shower in the master bath does not have a solid piece behind the step-over into the shower. My floor man could not lay my new floor. The shower was not caulked properly. The curtain rod is loose as is several other items. ALSO, on both bathrooms the installer caused the nails to pop out of the wall on the other side of the shower and said, "Your painter can take care of that." He tore my vinyl and said, "Well, you are getting a new floor anyway." He caused a corner of the wall to split and he said, "Your painter can take of that." We had not intended to paint or replace the floors for another few months. TOO, our toilet has been out of that bathroom for 5 days!!!

    Our floor man came yesterday to meet w/ the installer who was suppose to return and did not because the woman who books the appts. put the meeting on the WRONG date. He is now 1 hr late!!!

    While attending my dad's funeral this past weekend I visited my senior-aged aunt's home. She had asked me back a couple of months ago to price the cost of tub paint for her tub. I questioned her because I remember her being excited about getting Bath Fitter. She went on to say that the procedure never seal and there was rust forming around the seal areas. She had called Bath Fitter and someone was sent but it still did not seal not to include the rust. What type of lifetime guarantee is that? What is she to do at this point? Not to say someone call her to get her opinion of the service and would she recommend their business? Please advise. She was unable to find her paperwork before I left Goldsboro NC. I will continue to talk with her. However I did not want to press her to find the paperwork right at that time. My dad was her last living sibling.

    We went to a home show and visited the Bath Fitter booth and one of their competitors, Re-Bath. Bath Fitters was very quick to call and schedule an appointment, Re-Bath was a little longer. When the salesman from Bath Fitter came out he was very good and we decided to go with them, that was our mistake. He said that price was only good that night, 10% discount coupon from the home show. Our mistake, listening to him the price was only good that night. We should have let Re Bath come out also.

    The salesman told us that they would remove the old wall and put up new water resistant board. I made sure I got home for lunch that day, looking for our old wall that I was not seeing anywhere. I ask the installer if he removed the old wall, he said it was not necessary it was in good shape. Therefore the salesman lied to me or the installer did not do his job. I know for a fact since I had the old tub wall off myself and put up a temporary tub wall that what was behind the wall was not in good condition. Filled out the survey they leave you to send back. Expecting a phone call to address my concerns. Nope, no phone call. We feel somewhat ripped off by the whole process. The tub and surround look good enough but things were not as promised.

    I had Bath Fitter install a bathtub/shower combination and the person installing the unit didn't seal the tub to the drain properly. For two months while I took a shower the people below me could see water bubbling on the stud inside the wall. The first time I took a bath and drained the tub, the seal gave way and the water landed on their ceiling, producing a dip and water started coming out.

    I called Bath Fitter and they asked me to send a picture, which I did and they asked if they could come out and see it. I said fine, but they never followed up. I have paid over $5000 in damages to the unit below me and Bath Fitter in San Diego has avoided my calls and emails. I finally called the main office and apparently the San Diego office doesn't reply to them either. Don't ever have these people do an install, there is no follow up. For the $5000 I used to fix the problem Bath Fitter created, I could have had a reputable plumber do a great install and have nice tile. Pay more, use a reputable plumber and DON'T ever use Bath Fitter.

    I purchased the Bath Fitter to cover our old outdated blue tub and was happy with it at first. However, in a short time the tub began to look dirty and stained even though I cleaned it several times a week with the recommended cleaner. For what we paid - several $1,000 it should have stayed looking new and white longer than a year. I called to make a service order (since there's supposed to be a lifetime guarantee) and the man who came out to look at it was a total jerk - accusing me and my husband of never cleaning it.     Let me just start by saying we are completely dissatisfied with this product and service. At first, our sales rep **, was very helpful and sold us a product we really thought we would be happy with. We liked the financing plan as well as the thought that our bathtub/shower would be FINISHED in one day (this was told to us many times throughout the sales pitch). Well, the day had come to have our bathtub installed. Our contact at the San Diego office told us our team of installers would arrive between 8-9. Well, he didn't show up until 9:30. He or a representative should've called and said there was a delay and they would be there in about 30 minutes because of... I had told my work I would be in a little after 9 because I had Bath Fitter coming to my house and when I told them it would be closer to 10 now, they were pissed.

    So, once our "team" of one installer arrived, he said he would be done by the end of the day. Well at about 5 pm he had said he would have to come back the next day to finish. Once he had "finished" installing the bath, he had said a subcontractor would come by next week sometime to measure for a shower door. This really pissed us off because we were told "EVERYTHING" was done in-house and that Bath Fitter makes and installs their own shower doors. Uh, not true. They contact out to somebody to do it and upcharge the consumer.

    So the day after the bath tub was "finished", we looked over the bathtub and saw many flaws in the "finished" work. The tub was not sealed in many areas, some of the molding popped off easily and where there was caulking, there was a lot of excess caulking and it did not look very cleaned up. Not having a sealed bathtub would not be very good for preventing water leaks that could lead to mold.

    Also, as for the molding, it looked more like PVC pipe someone had cut and did a poor job of gluing in place because many parts were loose and not sealed. My wife and I went into this thinking we were going to be happy with this finished project for one, because it would be completed in one day. And two, because we were sold a product that was going to look as good as a bathtub remodel if we had contracted it out ourselves. Let me tell you, the product looks cheap, feels cheap and it is not what we expected from what our sales rep told us.

    So the day after we had it "finished" our sales rep ** told us there were some more papers we had to sign because they weren't signed during the initial sales pitch. She said she would be by sometime Saturday evening. My wife and I came home from a day with family about 4pm to expect **'s arrival. By 8pm she hadn't shown up, and she hadn't called. Well, we called her and she said she wouldn't be by this evening and she would come by the next day (no apology by the way for the inconvenience). So we told her we said 11 am would be fine for her to come by to finish the paperwork and for us to also tell her about the poor installation.

    Well, the next day came and went and she didn't show up as planned. Well, now we were really upset. Two days in a row we put plans on hold because we were expecting ** to come by and she never showed. Well, my wife called the San Diego office on Monday morning and she was told by the rep that the GM would personally would get in touch so we could tell him personally our many issues. The day came and went and no call. Today is May 19th and Bath Fitter has not finished the job and yet they want to send us the paperwork to sign so that our financing can begin. Well, nothing will be signed until the job is complete.

    Had this remodel done about 2 years ago. So far 3 times I have called to get someone out to redo the Caulking. The last guy came out said that the bathtub was cut wrong and that he didn't have enough caulk to fill in but did what he could but the caulk is peeling up again so I called again. My roommate gets off work and is home by 4:15 and a tech needs to be at the after that, I was told that service calls cannot be done after 3 pm. I told him that because this was the 4th time I am calling about this issue that Bath Fitter should be accommodating me because of this unfixed issue. I am supposed to get a phone call tomorrow but I somehow don't think I will. I want to get my other Bathroom done but if I can't get this issue resolved then I will look elsewhere for it. I want to know if this is going to be an ongoing problem, what can be done??

    I certainly would recommend Bath Fitter. We absolutely love the shower. We purchased it from Bath Fitter and they did the remodel before Christmas when the kids came, so it hasn't been a year. We had the bathtub taken out and replaced with the shower. We didn't have a door put in but we had a seat put in it. We had the things put in both corners to set things on because we had put a lot of crap in our shower.

    Their sales representative was very helpful. He came out and talked to us in the evening and explained everything. He suggested some things like not putting in a door on the shower, simply because we are getting older and that can be dangerous when you're trying to get in and out or somebody is trying to help you. I appreciated that because you can very easily just hold the doors.

    The installers were really good and they worked the whole time they were here. The only problem I had is that the plumber broke a tile on the floor as he was taking out the bathtub. It's old tile so we didn't have a piece to replace that but he put it back and pieced it together as best he could so I was kind of surprised about that. They did clean up really, really good and they were very, very careful about everything.

    We had to take the tubs out and decided to put in Bath Fitter. We made that purchase maybe ten years ago. I was disappointed when something happened to the shower knobs. In order to do the job, you had to break the wall, and that wall cost me almost $500. I don't think that's fair. I thought it was a permanent thing. And now when they put it up, they put all the mechanisms on the outside of the shower, which should have been in the first place. It cost me a lot of money that I couldn't afford, but I had to do it. There's a fault there that they should correct. When I bought it, it was behind the sheet that they gave you, the sheet that they interlock. And it cost me a fortune. Maybe they can reimburse me. That doesn't come with the contract but they don't warn you either.

    The installer had to remove my sink and when he put the sink back, he didn't put it back properly. The sink came tumbling off the wall. So I called the representative that came out and took the measurement and the payment, and informed him of what was going on and then they sent someone out to fix it. However they made me feel like they were annoyed, like I was bothering them to give me a call and let me know when the guy is coming. Because I was headed out of town actually when they sent someone over.

    I called the office and left a message that I'm calling to verify if the guy will come out to fix the sink because I left my 18 yo son there. No one returned my call, no one told me that the guy came out and fixed it, and when I did speak with someone they were very short and distant. I was satisfied with the remodeling but I did not appreciate that at all.

    My father needed a grab bar installed in his shower, the landlord insisted Bath Fitter install it since they had done the shower insert. It was $200 for one single bar to be installed. Installation was about 5 minutes. Don't feel that it was worth $200 for the one bar.

    We were made to believe that we would be financed on a DEFERRED 18 month contract. Received first bill from Synchrony Bank with a 9.9% finance fee. Called Bath Fitter regarding their mistake or their sales lady's mistake and we were put on a 2 year payoff plan. Called Bath Fitter about this mistake and have not been able to get any satisfaction about this mistake.     This is an update to my previous posting about a problem with the shower head provided by Bath Fitter and their response to my complaint. Since that time, and as a direct result of my posting on Consumer Affairs, they have fully resolved my complaint by reimbursing me for the cost of a replacement shower head of my choice. Therefore, I have revised my star rating 4.

    The handheld shower head Bath Fitter installed is unsatisfactory. The diameter of the spray at maximum setting is only about 3". It needs to be much wider. I wasn't home when the install was done. We had one day's notice and I had already committed to be elsewhere. So yes, my wife OK'd the install upon completion, but she doesn't use the shower and was only focused on making sure it worked.

    When I arrived home two days after install and turned the shower on, it was obvious I wouldn't be satisfied. I called customer service who referred me to our salesperson. Bath Fitter said that they only sell one model handheld shower head and therefore could not replace it. I asked if I could return it (it had not been used other than my checking it when I arrived home). The sales manager said I could not return it since it had been "accepted" upon install. This response is a good example of a legality or technicality taking precedence over common sense and appropriate customer service. This install cost almost $8k. Despite the salesman's telling me the shower head cost about $280, I'm confident in saying it is more like $50; perhaps Delta's MSRP is much higher. Regardless, Bath Fitter doesn't pay anywhere near the MSRP.

    Here's my point: When someone spends almost $8k for a shower install it is short sighted in the extreme to disallow the return of an unused, inexpensive part two days after install. Other than this disappointing and ill-advised decision, we are satisfied with the install and product. P.S.: The salesman may recall that when he made his initial sales pitch, I made it very clear I wanted an upscale handheld shower head. He said it would be, but in fact, it is less satisfactory than the $25 one previously installed.

    My experience with my first Bath Fitter purchase has been wonderful and I'm totally satisfied. Show dogs is what I do, and every so often, a Bath Fitter vendor would be at the dog show. I kept thinking, "What is he doing here?" And then years later, I needed Bath Fitter. Because we've been in this house now for about 15 years and it was tiled and there was mildew, and I just couldn't stand it anymore, that's why we did our purchase and also had our shower replaced. The salesperson came to the house and went through everything. There were some minor dollar changes, but they called right away and went through all of that and I didn't have a single problem at all.

    I also had no problems with the installation team. While the installed got ready to put up the shower head, I hadn't purchased a new one from Bath Fitter. And my old one looked positively awful! He said, "Run up there right now and get one". And I did. I came back with a shower head, he put it up and that was wonderful. I would recommend Bath Fitter.     Bath Fitter installed their product in two of my 3 bathrooms in 2005. Although I was satisfied overall with the work completed at the time of completion, where they failed to meet their "lifetime" guarantee has cost me dearly, convinced me to shy away from overlaying of replacement tubs and spend the extra money removing their work. Five times in 10 years I called Bath Fitter regarding a crack in the upstairs shower, the problem has yet to be repaired, not a major problem but an inconvenience. However, when I called about the leaking and mold build-up around the bathtub they were quick to clean and re-putty the first floor bathtub, by the way the complaint about the crack in the upstairs shower was on the same work order. It was at a reasonable cost.

    Recently my first floor bathtub was backed up. The plumber was unable to snake the drain because the "original" drain had not been removed by Bath Fitter thereby creating two drains, the original and the newer one. At an additional cost and work on the piping below the tub it was fixed. I will eventually replace what I had installed. I take responsibility for not knowing better and just decided to go the route of bathroom renewal by reputable contractors who truly back their work.

    I had my whole bathtub area redone by Bath Fitter around October or November. My bathroom had a lot of mold that I just couldn't take care of and I'm looking to resell my house soon, so I needed to have something. But the main reason I wanted my bathroom done was that my wife had a total hip replacement surgery and we needed to have the bathroom updated with the support mechanism that comes with handles which we did not have. So, I went to the National Coliseum, they had a trade show out there over the summer and I interacted with a lot of the home improvement companies and one of them told me that the best place would be Bath Fitter.

    The gentleman from Bath Fitter came in and said it is what it is and it was a little more than what I really wanted to spend. So I thought about walking out. Someone else from Bath Fitter could come in but I’m gonna lose the sale. The guy was nice and everything, so I felt a little bad and I went and gave him a job. After I had given the job, I feel that if I had held out and had someone else come in from Bath Fitter, I might’ve gotten the same thing for a cheaper price. So I felt like I was manhandled. But still, the product was good.

    So on the set date, the installation team came in on time and I remember specifically telling the salesperson that the pipes in the floor of my bathroom were all galvanized, but the people who came in were not aware of it. It became a very tight situation. What Bath Fitter did was send someone over immediately to take another look at it and they saw that the piping was galvanized. They went at their expense and the only other way that they could do the installation was to go through my kitchen ceiling. They tapped into the water supply from the kitchen ceiling and they ran piping through my kitchen ceiling to the appropriate places that I needed to do, to put in the bathtub water supply, and my lavatory which was not even included, but they just said, "We have to do it." They did it for my entire bathroom.

    Now I got a brand new upper piping to my entire bathroom at no additional cost. I have better water supply now and they even cleaned up after. They did not change my galvanized drain but they made me aware of that before they got started. They told me that it will not be a problem as long as I don't disturb it. Since we lost so much time on the date of the installation trying to figure out another way of doing it, they came back the next day and completed the job. So since then, it's been great. They get my kudos. I was very pleased with them.

    We purchased the tub and wall overlay from Bath Fitter. The work started in November but we got into some problems and it didn't get completed until February 11. Initially we were told a permit wasn't needed, but later we were told that it was needed. Then we had some issues with the work that was done, and they had to come back out. Most of the problems stemmed from the permit, because work was done, but because a wall was closed up, the wall had to be reopened, and then we had to go through the process of dealing with the township for the permit. The problem was partly due to the people from Bath Fitters insisting on closing the wall up because they said, "Oh, we can't leave you without the tub." But then the problem was also partly because the town never got back to us regarding the fact that we needed a permit.

    We had an appointment with the sales rep who sold me this product. He was 45 minutes late and apologized profusely, then he went through the whole protocol with regards to selling us the product. We accepted the offer and were told that the installation was to be in October, but because we were having renovations done in the apartment, they told us to get the work on the bathroom done first before we had them come in. I would have preferred having Bath Fitter there and work first before I had the other people there. So there was a delay. Work was supposed to start the first week of October and that got pushed to December.

    Bath Fitter started their work and they did the tub and shower overlay. And this led to a problem with the permit because the people that came here from the town were looking at the work done by the other people that did work in the bathroom and they approved their work. But that's when they saw Bath Fitter and said, "You're supposed to get a permit." I said, "You sent two letters back in September and nobody ever got back to us about a permit. And they were saying, "Oh, there was a confusion with the building of the condo." We went back and forth but we got the permit by the end of November. Bath Fitter came back out in December to do the work, and it was done from the beginning of December till February 11th.

    This was supposed to be a three-day process, but it wound up taking too long because Bath Fitter wanted to close up the wall where the plumbing was, where the shower head comes out. I said, "I don't want the wall closed up because I'm dealing with the town. I want to make sure they have the inspection." Initially they had to put the wall up but they didn't seal it closed because they needed the inspection after that. Then it went backwards and they came back out and they're saying, "Oh, we can't leave it just like this. We have to close it up. We're going to take pictures, and everything would be fine. They took pictures, and when the town people came out, they weren't happy with the pictures and they were saying, "You need an installation on the pipes."

    Apparently they were going back and forth about what violation goes with this and it turned out to be something with the town where the guy that did the plumbing inspection was saying that's how he wants it. He couldn't cite to them where the violation was with the plumbing. He just said he wanted some type of insulation around a couple of pipes because he thought it was touching a metal pipe, but it was. So the town inspector was arguing with the Bath Fitter people, and the Bath Fitter people were going back and forth with the town. It was absolute disaster.

    Today, I had to have them come back out here because there was water under the tub area. They came back out and they drained that. They thought somebody had come and worked on the pipes and that's how water got in but that was not the case. They didn't believe that's the case but the guy that came out here was absolute disaster. Somebody behind him had to clean up his work. The drain for the tub where water was supposed to go out was filled up with a silicon filler so I had to have them come back out again.

    So the guy that we had the problems with came out here a week and a half ago. He was fixing the water to clean the tub and the liner. He got the water there, and when he proceeded to put everything back, he sealed up the water overflow where the water is. He came back out the next day and he was supposed to undo that. But in the process of picking the stuff off to undo it, it looked like it's sealed up again. Now I have to call them again. In a nutshell, I don't have a problem with their product. I'm just not happy with one of their workers. He started the work and somebody else had to clean it up, and now I have to get somebody else to come out here to fix this overlay situation.

    When they came out here and they were going back and forth with the town inspector, we had the tub overlay done and we had the shower overlay put in. We were told they had to open everything back up when they sealed the wall up. The plumbing inspector said, "No, you need to insulate the pipes." So he took the wall where the shower head and the faucet are sticking. They took that side of the wall down and said they'll just seal that part of the wall. I said, "No, that's not what I paid for. I paid for a whole piece, because you're supposed to have that cover all three walls."

    They decided to come back out when all they're seeing was the plumbing and the building inspectors. They came out with another overlay and they put it over the existing overlay, so now I have a double wall. It is partly started out one way and it was going well, but it went downhill. They tried everything under the sun. They keep saying the same thing about trying to do whatever is necessary to make me happy. There's one person they got working for them, who said somebody applies grout along the wall and they used a gel to fill it. And I was complaining about how sloppily it was applied. And he said that's just the way it is.

    When I finally got rid of him and I got somebody else to come in here to fix the job. When he applied the silicon gel around the area to seal everything up so that water could escape, he applied it professionally, giving it a smooth finish. When the first guy applied it, he patted stuff down all over, and it looked sloppily applied. The next guy was complaining about the other guy, saying, "Why am I here fixing somebody else's work?"

    They keep saying things about another person working for the company, and I'm just in the end, the client who has to pay for this stuff. It cost me well over $10,000 and this is what I get? Unfortunately, what's done is done. I would recommend them to someone but I would tell them, "Don't have this guy come out. Have somebody else come out and do your installation," because I'm definitely not happy with the guy who started the project, who was doing the installation.

    The Bath Fitter people were so mad with the plumbing inspector. They were saying they wanted to file a complaint against the plumbing inspector because this guy didn't tell them where in the code they were in violation with the plumbing and insulating the pipes. Between the guy from the town of Verona and the Bath Fitter guy, it's like being stuck between the two. The Magnet people did my floor and put in a new marble countertop in my bathroom because I was using my existing cabinet and I was having a new tile floor put in. When they came in and did the work, they went and got the permit. But when the guy from the town came to do the inspection for Magnet's work, that's when he saw problems with Bath Fitter, because the day he came, Bath Fitter was doing their work.

    I do have issues with the township of Verona and the plumbing inspector because he came in here, and I had senior toilets and marble countertops put in for each of the bathrooms, and I had two floors. This guy came in and said, "Oh, they didn't call me for a rush inspection. How am I supposed to know when they've put the toilet on?" He wound up getting on the phone with this guy and he said, "Oh, I trust him. I know him, so I'm going to let it go." And I'm thinking to myself, "Okay, you're saying to me and I'm listening to your conversation. You're arguing because you didn't do a rush inspection with Magnet backing the tile, regarding the work they did, and you're doing a rush inspection and approving it, just because you're talking to this guy. But you're giving me a hard time with Bath Fitter coming in here and doing work because you don't know the people from Bath Fitter."

    I don't know who's more to blame, the township of Verona and the plumbing inspector they got for this town, or the people from Bath Fitter and their guy who needs to go through another training course in the work that he does with Bath Fitter, or the people from Magnet who did my floor, my toilet, and my sink, because they all caused problems. It's unfortunate I had to go through all that. But overall, what's done is done. I told my mom, "I think I want to deal with a larger company when dealing with somebody in the future. I just don't want to deal with these small companies because you get what you pay for."

    Bath Fitter's reps presented what they had and we liked it - they were very friendly and knowledgeable. So we asked them to put in a new tub and a surround and the fittings for the tub and shower. The installation team was very accommodating and good. They got some work done and are really professional.
