I purchased a Bath Fitter tub many years ago in my old home. I loved it. It held up beautifully and the man that put it in was so nice and helpful. He carefully went over all the dos and donts, and was so kind we wrote a letter in regards to our experience. I posted the flyer he gave me with the names of all their sanctioned cleaning products. That tub held up for 10 years and still going no problems! Loved it. Transformed a dated bathroom into a clean modern looking tub.

Fast forward to my new home. I realized the my new home had a Bath Fitter surround and was one of the selling points to me. I brought my fact sheet and posted it in the medicine cabinet as I did in my old home. I haven't changed a thing! Same cleaning product, Same shampoo, same conditioner etc. No one else uses my bathroom only me. I woke up one morning to find a 3-4" blue spot in the middle of my tub, and a quarter sized spot somewhere else. There is no known explanation as to how they got there. When I called my contractor over to look at it he said that it looks like some adhesive is bleeding through. Now this tub is 9 years old. How in the world would 2 blue spots appear? As I said no one in the house but me!

I phoned Bath Fitter and the representative I spoke to was very responsive and kind (as has been all my previous experiences with Bath Fitter) and has set me up with a date for someone to come out and look at it. I am SO bummed! I have had one of these tubs for about 15 years and never had this happen. Will keep you posted...

I contracted Bath Fitter's services in 2006 in order to have my bathroom redone. I was happy with it when they did it. They covered the bathtub along with the walls and new glass shower doors. Over the years I have had some big issues with the product. Firstly, between the doors is EXTREMELY hard to clean. I have had fungus and mold problems. My bathroom is properly ventilated and I have used the proper cleaning products, yet because of these hard to clean spaces I have had discoloration and unpleasant looking areas in the corners and between the doors. This year the paint began to peel of the top of the door frame for no apparent reason.

I contacted Bath Fitter in my area (Bath Fitter West Montreal) and sent them pictures. Bath Fitters replied that they would cover the parts but that I would have to pay for the labor. It wasn't a huge amount ($132.00) but I was really shocked that they would stick me with the service bill when the frame was clearly faulty and that this had all happened through no fault of my own. After the work was done (and paid for) I sent a complaint to the corporate office in Quebec (St. Eustache), to add insult to injury they never replied or addressed my complaint!

Beware if you are thinking of contracting their services! The material does not age well, is hard to clean and can create problems for you down the line. Also bear in mind that regardless of the warranty for product YOU will be on the hook for service. This is really a terrible business practice and Bath Fitters (at least the franchise in Montreal, Quebec) needs to think about how it treats its customers if it wants to keep them long term. As for me, my second bathroom is being re-tiled, Bath Fitters has lost me as a customer because they just don't care about the long term.

We had a standard tub replaced with a Bath Fitter shower in October 2015. Everything from our online experience with their site through actual installation was a pleasure. Our visit to the showroom provided lots of information about the products and options and the staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. The visit for the estimate was done on time, as scheduled, and we were again provided with lots of details about the process and what to expect. The day of the installation was amazing. Our two man crew arrived at 07:25 and was gone at noon! The removal of our old tub and the installation of the shower was beautifully done and all the while our hardwood floors and staircases were protected with great care. The crew clean-up left my home just as they found it when they arrived. What a great experience!

I purchased from them one of those corner showers and I had asked for the frosted glass but they brought me clear glass. I didn't want to postpone it for another week or two because they said it would take a while to do the frosted glass, so I asked them instead to discount me for sending me the clear one and they discounted me $100. And they put shelves in the corner.

I like Bath Fitter other than the other day that I had to call them because the sealant had lifted on one side. They sent somebody to fix it but he brought me a paper that said that they couldn't do it for every trip that they have to come to do that. It was a $200 charge. The whole thing cost me $4,000 so you would think they would do it for free. But he didn't charge me for that day. He said that they did it because it was the first time I had called them. I don't have any complaints about anything at all except for that. I would still recommend Bath Fitter.

I have already posted to my facebook page my recommendation and my sincere feelings of the experience with Bath Fitters. I am more than happy with the outcome. I am thrilled. When the tech came to do the measurements, two friends were at the house. They have copies of the contact information that I gave them. I have had several houseguest since the unit was installed and they could not believe the change. One of the guest are in the middle of upgrading their kitchen and the bathrooms (three) are next on the list. They received the information from me as well.

My sister attempted to remodel her own bathroom two years ago. She spent more than two months without the use of the bathroom. Was $10,000 over budget. I am so very thankful for Bath Fitters taking away a very ugly room and changing the look of my bath. All in one day. No headaches and the work did not cost a penny over the estimate. The rep that came to the house had useful suggestions. The installer was so nice and polite. It was the only remodeling job that has ever gone right. Thank you for the hard work. I have already been recommending you to anyone who will listen.

We have had two great experiences with Bath Fitters. The first was a wall surround and the second was a tub and wall surround replacement. They were in and out in a very timely manner. A plus for us as we only needed one day off work and in one day, our bathroom was back in working order. They are very careful to protect everything from the entry door to the bathroom, floors were covered and pictures removed from walls so as not to be knocked down. They also came back after the first remodel to fix a leaky tub faucet, also done in a timely manner. Everyone we dealt with, from the salesmen, the one who measured and assessed the work to be done, to the actual person who did the job has been very friendly, helpful and punctual. Highly recommend them to do the job well and stand behind their service!

My wife went online looking for somebody to get two really yucky, 30-year-old baths redone and she found Bath Fitter. We've also looked at those in Home Depot for what they have in store but my wife like the quality of Bath Fitter. We had to work with their installers a bit because I was doing the remodeling. I had to get the walls in place and they were cooperative and did pretty good at that. The only thing is they were too expensive, but they did a good work, so that's nice. Bath Fitters forgot to bill me for about six months though but later on, they came back and re-established it. We did have one problem with the faucet but they fixed it really well, which I thought was excellent of them.

I wish I was one of the many "happy/satisfied" customers. Bath Fitter's saleslady Barbara ** arrived Friday 8/28 on time. She performed very well as a "salesperson"... complementing me, speaking quickly, not answering specific questions directly and "rushing" through the entire presentation. I assume this was due to the fact it was Friday, 5:15 PM and she had mentioned she had a very long day. After 1 hour of "sales pitch", she made us watch a video while she calculated numbers. She came up with a total of $7759, but said if I "purchased now" I would receive a 10% discount of $869. The final price was $6890 for a single bathtub to shower conversion. I wasn't feeling very well, recovering from minor surgery a day before and wanted to get her out, so I agreed to the contract. "After the fact", doing some research, this price seems to be excessively high.

"Arthur" arrived Thursday 10/15 @ 8:00 AM on time and seemed to be a nice guy. He laid out tarps and went right to work. He had the original tub removed in no time. I am self-employed, so I took the day off for Bath Fitters and utilized my time in the garage catching up on projects. I didn't spend much time watching Arthur's progress because I assumed he was a professional and I expected "top-notch" results. At 6:45 PM he said he couldn't complete the job because he was missing a part and would return the next day to install it. I thought, "Okay... things happen... No big deal". Having my own business, I was sympathetic and understood. After Arthur left, I inspected his work and discovered the shower doors were installed "backwards" and were not "plumb" (they were leaning inward).

Arthur return the next day at around Friday 5:30 PM. I informed him the doors were installed backwards and were not plumb. He said the doors could only be put in one way and it didn't really matter and just apply "Rain-X" to keep them clean/non-spotting. The sticker on the door clearly reads "inner door". He said nothing about the doors not being "plumb", but agreed to make them plumb. The doors still are not "plumb". I assume this is due to the fact that they were so far "out of plumb" he was not able to make them plumb without exposing the original screw holes. He installed a handheld shower fixture that would have been in the way when showering, so I had him relocate it, but now I am stuck with the original screw hole which is filled with white silicone. He finished the job installing a grab bar which I discovered was not "level" after he had left the job.

I now had to wait another day to let the "new" silicone cure that he had to apply after he attempted to "re-plumbing" the shower doors. Somewhat of an inconvenience, but not a big deal. I finally get to take my first shower the following day Saturday (10/17) and discovered the hot/cold is reversed. I called Bath Fitters Monday (10/19) and spoke to Ila explaining that my shower doors are installed backwards and not plumb, the hot/cold is reversed and the grab bar is not level. She didn't have an answer for me and put me on hold.

I was then given to Shelly the warehouse manager. She was "snippy", but said she would send Arthur out to correct everything. I said I didn't want him returning and wanted somebody else. Why would I want the same person who made all the mistakes on two different occasions? I told her there was no excuse to install the doors backwards and "not plumb". She then tells me the doors are "self-leveling". I ask her what is "self-leveling" supposed to mean? She replied "I don't know". She said she would have to get back to me to resolve the situation. I never received a return call, so I called Bath Fitters again on Friday 10/23 @ 11:30 AM. I spoke to Ila who informed me that Shelly was out to lunch and would return in half an hour to call me back.

It is now Wednesday 10/28 and I am STILL waiting for that return call! I am now left with a "substandard" job that I paid A LOT of money for. I have backwards installed shower doors that I have to constantly wipe down after each shower so that stains do not become permanent on the "frosted/etched" side until they can be properly installed. I have reversed hot/cold shower faucet that my young daughter has almost scalded herself, etc. As a business owner, I'm very busy and don't have the time to "babysit" and constantly "follow up" to get service. At this point I would have a hard time recommending Bath Fitters to anyone. I'm very frustrated and disappointed and not sure what to do. They have my money and I'm stuck with the aftermath!

Updated on 01/07/2016: Okay... a little delayed with my update. After not hearing from Bath Fitter, I called on again 10/29 @ 4:30pm and was informed I just missed Shelly... She was gone for the day. I finally received a return call from Shelly on 11/04 and scheduled them to "rectify" everything on 11/12. "Isaac" arrived on 11/12 @ 8:30 AM. He "reversed" the shower doors. "Leveled" the grab bar. He also recaulked the shower base because the original caulking broke loose from the seam at various locations. He couldn't make the shower doors "plumb" because of the way they were installed. I guess I'll just have to live with that.

He then attempted to correct the "reverse" hot/cold fixture. Being self-employed, I could tell he was becoming frustrated and not understanding how to fix the reversed hot/cold situation. He spent a considerable amount of time on the phone seeking advice from his warehouse supervisor. I could tell he was pressed for time and had to leave, so he said everything was fixed and he left at 1 PM. I couldn't use the shower until the next day to allow the new sealant to dry. When I did use the shower the following day, the hot/cold was still reversed but... The diverter valve was now also reversed!

I called Shelly the next day to inform her the hot/cold was still not correct. She said she would have to get back to me. I never heard from her again. I got tired of waiting so I spent 1/2 an hour correcting the problem myself! Bottom line... would I recommend Bath Fitter to anyone?... Not the "San Diego" franchise. Bath Fitter has a neat idea with overall "good quality", but product just needs quality people to install it with good service... Something the "San Diego" franchise failed miserably with!

We had a new shower installed December 22nd and 23rd 2014 and still have not received satisfaction. The installer was late both days without the courtesy of a phone call. The installer poked a hole in our hallway ceiling, as well as the bathroom ceiling. They cut our woodwork too short and did a poor job with the shower trim trying to accommodate for it (of course, we did not notice these things immediately). We did not use the shower for 5 days because the installer said that is how long the caulking takes to dry completely. The seat and grab bars are slippery when wet, which is dangerous post surgery. The salesman made a joke about my mishap from the slippery surface after surgery. The seat is installed too high, is too slippery, and takes up too much space in the shower. It is useless. I talked to the salesman, store manager, and the franchise owner. They showed no care or concern. There was no apology.

The salesman made promises about the company that were not true. He said if there was a problem they could not resolve, they would replace it. I told the owner I wanted the seat taken out. The next day he called and "informed" me when he was coming--date and time--to put a coating on the seat that would make it less slippery. He did not ask if that was convenient for us or if, in fact, that would be something we were interested in. The owner said it would require open ventilation for 24 hours because of the caustic smell. I wrote a detailed letter to the corporate office on May 19th, 2015. I have never received an acknowledgement or response. I have never seen such a lack of customer service from a company in my life. They have been the worst. The franchise owner was condescending and snotty. Be aware of all of the salesman deception. I read a review from a previous Bath Fitter employee that said the salesman are trained to be deceptive. Bath Fitter www.complaintsboard.com. I believe it! I expected a lot more for $5,000.00.

They sent a really wonderful plumber and he changed the charger. I'll have to call them again though since that didn't work. But overall, they were helpful and wonderful to work with. Bath Fitter has refused to honor their warranty because the hair conditioner we use has alcohol in it. It is not stated anywhere including the warranty or any brochure that alcohol cracks the bath/shower. The warranty only gives what products to use when you clean it and we followed those instructions precisely. The shower base is now cracking underneath our feet. Now we have to pay thousands of dollars, again, to fix it. For this much money we could of totally renovated the bathroom the first time. I would not recommend this company to anyone. I would suggest looking elsewhere when redoing your bathroom. Why would they make a shower out of something that can be destroyed by the very thing it's used for? And why wouldn't they warn you of this before you buy it?

I found out about Bath Fitter on the TV. I heard it and I just called. I needed the tub turned into a shower so I could put a medical chair in there. My interactions with the sales rep went great. The only thing that I had a problem with was the guy that came to install. He was real nice but when he hung my shower curtain, I wasn't in there. And my shower curtain gets a little bit too low now. It hits the floor down there. But I don't need it to be fixed, I'll deal with it. I'd still recommend Bath Fitter to my friends.

I did put a retraction on the Consumer Affairs site at the end of October. Bath Fitter made good on my problem and it has been completely resolved. Thank you!

    Original Review: Oct. 13, 2015

Bath Fitter was a nightmare. I spoke with my sales Rep Thomas ** on 8/25/15. Signed the agreement to do one full shower and one tub. I work 2 jobs, so I asked for a Sat. for installation of a new shower for one bathroom, including plumbing, etc. and a new tub ONLY for another bathroom. I was told by my sales rep that Saturdays were difficult, but not impossible and had ask Michelle to get me a Sat. I didn't hear back from anyone for nearly 2 weeks and when I called Michelle, she said she could not get me a Sat, so I'd have to take a Friday. The date she gave me was more than a month from the time I signed the agreement (Oct 2). I wasn't asked if I could do a Fri. I was told that was the best she could do. I then had to take a day off from my job #1.

I was never called again with a confirmation of the date and time, so that Friday morning, 10/2, I called Michelle to confirm that the job was being done that day and she said that Chris was on his way, BUT that the second man was unavailable and I'd have to have someone else return the next day SATURDAY to do the tub. So now I had to spend TWO days at home (one day being a Saturday that she was unable to get for me initially). Chris arrived in the morning, did my shower, floor, walls, plumbing – excellent job. It’s perfect. It did take some time, but it was a big job and expected.

Saturday arrived along with (I believe) Sean (who was probably not older than 19). He came to do ONLY a tub and after 5 hours I asked him if everything was OK. He said it was and that he just took his time doing the job. Hour later, my doorbell rang and it was Sean’s father, who turned out to be Mr. **. Now I knew there had to be a problem – 5 hours!!

Finally I was called upstairs and was told by Mr. ** that his son was just learning and he did the job BUT he broke 2 tiles. He said he would give me a good price on new tiles. Bath Fitter broke my tiles and I was asked to PAY to replace them. I refused to pay for new tiles, and I called my sales rep Thom ** and had him speak to Mr. **. They decided the best they could do was take off $200 from the $6500 total bill. I accepted that at the time because it seemed to be my only option.

Sean and Mr. ** left and I went to take a better look at the tub. Not only were there 2 broken tiles but the caulking was not done properly in some spots. I took photos. I sent those photos to Thom ** and let him know that I was completely dissatisfied with this nightmare and I would make sure not to recommend Bath Fitter to anyone.

A few days later (no response from Thom), I got a call from Susan, who I'm guessing is a customer service representative. She apologized for the problems and said that she was given permission to offer me a total wall around the tub (over the broken tiles) at COST - $750!!! I paid $6500 for a botched job and was offered a deal to replace the mess for $750. I refused that offer and said I wanted her to do better and that I want someone to come to my house and re-caulk the terrible caulking job. She said she was do that for me, for sure. She’d call me back. It’s been a week since I spoke to Susan and she has not returned the call.

Today, 10/13/15, nothing has been done, nothing has been repaired and no one has called me. I called Susan this morning and got her voicemail. I left a message for her to call me, and not 10 minutes later (when I was away from my desk), I received a call back from Michelle! I called her back and got her voicemail. I'm waiting for someone to call me back and make me an offer. This has been going on since Aug. 25. Today is Oct 13. 10:46 am Michelle just called and said “How can I help you?” I had to relay the entire story again and then she began to remember the issue. She said she knew for a fact that Susan is working with Mr. ** on getting me something to make me feel better. She said I will have an answer by Friday, 10/16.

I am from Pennsylvania and we moved down here to Florida. Back when we were up there, we were at a flea market and somebody had a little trailer that had Bath Fitter inside. We said if we get down to Florida and we have to do something like that with the bathrooms depending on what condition they're like, this might be an option. So we got prices on what it might cost for a regular small bathroom.

When we moved down here, we had some major water leakage in our master bathroom, so I said we're going to have to do something. When we were at the festival flea market on Sample Road, Bath Fitter was in there so I picked up a card and gave them a call. A couple days later they had a salesman come out and showed us and demonstrated the product. We decided to go that route 'cause we didn't want to have to deal with contractors coming in for a week and tiling and stuff like that. The convenience of having it done in a day was what we were looking for.

About 9-10 years ago we contracted a local Bath Fitter's company to install a tub and surround. We needed quick and we did get that. We also liked the lifetime warranty. We have needed to call the office a few times over the years to re-caulk some parts and have had no problems getting service until about two weeks ago. I noticed that there were cracks on one of the corners of the tub. We called for a repair/replacement and after a short period of time were able to schedule someone to come out. The service manager greeted my wife and the first question was, "what do you clean the tub with?" She mentioned she used "Scrubbing Bubbles" and was told this was not on the "approved cleaning product list" (although the install person said it was OK at the time of install).

The service manager then continued on saying that the cracks were due to her "leaving the product on that location too long." He said he would submit the claim but did not feel that it would be covered. Lo and behold, not covered! Here is my take on the situation: The cracks are there because they are in a spot of high stress. This was not taken into account. The manager came into our house looking for a way to discount our claim from the first contact. At least a prudent person would listen to the customer. If the cracks are due to "Scrubbing Bubbles" then why is there not cracks in multiple locations? Why is there still a "sheen" in the same location? Shouldn't the product have removed the sheen before the cracks started? Nope tub is still as shiny as the day it was installed (one good point to Bath Fitter's product).

We then get a call from the service manager complimenting my wife on how clean she keeps her bathroom and that the claim was denied. (Of course it was, that is how you submitted the claim!) He then offered us a free tub but we have to pay $200 for labor. We had not paid for labor throughout the year when they came back and re-caulked the fittings, nor did they ask what we cleaned it with. In our opinion if you want a quick install and are not expecting to live in that house long then Bath Fitter works but if you intended to stay a long time do not contract with them because they do NOT stand behind their products!!! P.S. I have included pictures for you to determine if you agree or disagree. The water barrier was installed by myself about 2 weeks ago because our teen cannot seem to keep the water in the tub! That's actually how I found these cracks.

My 88 year old father needed a new shower surround when the tile around the soap dish in the bath/shower unit literally fell out of the wall into the tub. We received an estimate from a local tile person, but he was booking very far out. I read all of the good reviews about Bath Fitter, and called for an estimate. The sales consultant, Tony **, was prompt, friendly, and managed to book our job in six days. This is what sold us, as the prices for both service providers were similar.

The plumber and installer were friendly and prompt and efficient. The stickler, and this particularly bothered my father, is that the bath/shower unit has a large picture window. The installer immediately told us he could not reinstall the window shade. This was not mentioned during our consultation. Now we must shop for and install a new window covering. We are disappointed that this was omitted when we had our sales consultation. My father (a retired construction executive) also mentioned reinstalling our shower door. Had he not mentioned it, that would not have been included in the installation. It was an extra charge, but vital. As he said, "The job is very nice looking, but three quarters complete, so a disappointment."

When I first had this done, everything was wonderful and perfect. One week later I noticed a drip coming from my bathtub faucet. I called and they said they sent someone out to fix it. Well it's not fixed. The same evening I went up to take my bath and still the drip was there. I called back again. They said they would send someone else out to fix it, but not after a woman from Bath Fitter spoke to me on the phone and tried to tell me that if the drip is lasting under 20 mins. that is normal. Well she must be on drugs, because there is nothing normal about a $9000.00 drip. It didn't drip before and I will not have it dripping now. Very angry.

The salesman was very professional and likable when he came out to give an estimate. Told us the installer would arrive around 9 a.m. The first day (Monday) of a promised 2 day install (written on the estimate) the installer finally showed at 10:30 a.m. He left for the day at 1:30 p.m, with openings in the walls and floor to the crawlspace. The second day (Tuesday) he left for the day at 2:30 without completing the job. Stating he would have to return another day to finish the job.

When I contacted the salesman to complain about the 3 inch gap between the top of the base and the bottom of the wall, and the fact that the job was not completed in 2 days. He said that was the way it is done. And the installer would not return until Thursday. That other people have waited 8 weeks for installment. Then hung up on me. Well, that is about the length of time I waited as well. Meanwhile, my family has no shower. Hopefully, they will return to finish the job. Working second shift, I took the past 2 days off work. If I knew the installer only works half a day, I would not have burned 2 days of vacation. So at this point I would discourage anyone from using Bath Fitter for any project.

Bath Fitter did our entire bathroom. The sales representative came over several times and took measurements. The installation team worked on our toilet and then replaced my $400-toilet with a $80-unit from Home Depot and then didn’t say anything. He told us it’s partly broken. Once they installed the toilet, it rocked and I had to see it myself. The actual installer of the tub was awesome. The installation time took double than what we were first told, but he was nice enough to follow up the installer. The final installer was extremely courteous, very professional, personable, and he may be the most experienced than everyone else. Now that they don’t do the rusty installs, I’d recommend them.

They just put chrome or nickel and we've never really talked to a person about that except for emails and calls. Other than that, I love it and the shower is awesome. Even my grandson likes it! I put it in over at the beach condo but wish I could have it in my house. The installation team was great. They cleaned their mess up and everything worked out good.

When my mother was ill, we had Bath Fitter put a shower stall into her house. We were very satisfied with the work that they did. We recently got ours and we were very satisfied. The sales representative who came was terrific. He was polite, courteous and very professional. My husband used to do contracting work and he conversed with him and it was very good. It was the same with the installation team.

However the seat was not stable, so we called them. Somebody came in and stabilized the seat and there was a crack in our tile on the floor. We didn’t even think that he would do anything about it, but we asked if he would have some compound to get rid of the crack. It was not cracked before it started. The gentleman said, “Oh, if we cracked it, we take care of it.” We had extra tiles and he came back last week and put new tiles into the two tiles that were cracked. They did it but we never even thought that that would be covered so we’re very satisfied. We cannot exclaim enough about how well they did.

However, we had to have them come back because there was a small leak in the glass door; there was a kind of a gap. The contract was $5800 for tub and surround tiling with shower. The installation was in one day and was fine; the quality of acrylic tub and tiling seems ok but the shower and tub fixtures are of Low quality (Delta, but el cheapo!). Also the installer did not test for leaks in my presence (I was doing yard work). Also, the warranty does NOT pass to subsequent home owner... not good as we will be selling in 6 mos. When tub/wall surround were installed, "unpaintable" calk was applied. My painter could not paint over it, thus leaving a discolored strip around tub/surround on both walls & ceiling. Bath Fitter then put "paintable" calking on top of the "unpaintable" leaving a chunky area next to wall/ceiling and molding, not providing for a good, clean, crisp line. Bath Fitter then told me to remove both layers of calk, repaint and they would recalk. After paying for the work, Dan tells me they could have done the fix and now refuses to reimburse me, calling it a "remodel"! It is not a remodel! I am STILL trying to get my tub/surround to look more attractive than they left it.

    Original Review: Sept. 8, 2015

Let me start by saying my wife and I were totally impressed and very satisfied with the product and look of our renovated bathroom. The enclosure was of high quality and the extras we got installed fit perfect. We had the bath refitted back in 2013 but since then my wife noticed a small hair line crack in one of the seams. We contacted the company that installed it and were asked to send a picture which we did. After two weeks I contacted the company again to inquire the status. I was advised that Bath Fitter was looking for the type of cleaner we were using. Fair question since you have to use certain types. Sent this along and waited for reply.

A week later, after another inquiry, I was told new walls were ordered and when they came in we would be notified, possibly two weeks. Close to a month later I again made an inquiry and was told they would have had date later that day and be in touch. Since then I have sent e-mails and left a message asking them to get back to me on status. To date no reply. Crack is not causing issues right now but afraid if not addressed will spread and cause leak later.

    Updated review: Sept. 16, 2015

I am very happy with the service and resolution of my situation with Bath Fitter. They went above and beyond my expectations to make things right.

    Original Review: Sept. 5, 2015

I contacted Bath Fitter a month or so ago because I live in a mobile home that had a 54" tub and could not find anything of quality to replace my 42" garden tub for under $1,000. A very nice young salesman came out and for $2,200, I agreed to have them do my tub and install only as another $1,700 for the surround was not in my budget. Putting in a standard 60" tub would have required a lot of work to make it work. My other option was to replace it with a 30" porcelain over steel. Nothing else would have been acceptable as my tub had cracked and I didn't want to have to ever replace again. That's where the good feelings stopped.

I never received a confirmation call so I called them to confirm the day before. The installers arrived and started right in removing the old tub and then after it was out, they discovered the tub that I waited a month for wouldn't fit. They started out by offering me a 30" tub of a different color for half the price, which I told them was unacceptable as the 30" steel tub would have cost me $139 delivered buying it online. The installer went back to their shop to find what they could come up with that would work. I expected a call to let me know if they needed to come back out or if they needed me to go to their shop or at least to let me know when they could have something to install.

Being Labor day weekend, they didn't know if they could get anything within the week, but I received no call. So, I called them and the woman said they would have a tub for the following Thursday which would mean I would be without a tub or shower for week in hot weather. I had asked what concession would be made regarding price and was told a manager would have to call me back. I called back later to find out if the tub they ordered was different from what I was expecting. The people who were still there on a Friday afternoon couldn't answer that question and said someone would call me back, but I never heard anything.

So, I then went to Lowe's and found a very nice lifetime warrantied tub with surround for $500 in a 60". This would require me to move a wall and plumbing back into my linen closet. This would then make the closet inaccessible from my bathroom, so I would then have to cut through the wall from the hall and install a door. Due to the stud placement of the floor joists, I would have also build out the wall behind the tub 4" and then do work to the ceiling where the old wall was. A lot of work which I wish I had undertaken a month ago.

I have no idea if the tub they ordered will be anything I will like or what it will cost me. Bath Fitter is NOT inexpensive and if you have a space for a 60" tub take a trip to Lowes or Home Depot. As far as service with Bath Fitter, I would rate them an "F" at this point but time will tell if they deserve an upgrade. Mistakes happen but in this case there's plenty of blame to go around. The salesman Zack should have taken better notes and made sure the people making the tub knew what the opening was.

The people making the tub should had some way to make sure they were making a tub that would fit. When the tub got to the local warehouse, someone could have checked what they had and confirmed it would fit the 54" opening. And lastly the installer could have checked what he had before tearing out and destroying what I had left off a tub that was at least working. Time will tell if I become a happy customer or if we end up in court.

I was looking for a bath surround that’s high quality and there were only three candidates I could find that would have the kind of service. I tried to Google the service, the product, and the price, and I decided to go with Bath Fitter. They beat out one of them on the quality of their product - it looked thicker. The other one was the opposite as they do custom made and I didn’t have the time to wait for them. But everybody was almost about the same price range. Bath Fitter was a bit on the higher end as they have a warranty and a name that they stand behind their product so that I trusted a little more.

The installation representative came and I opened the garage to let him look at it and get his job done. I stayed out of his way. He was courteous, friendly and left everything very, very clean. He did a good job on the installation. I had the bath fixtures ready - hardware and faucets. They had a plumber to install those other things, which is the only negative because they could at least throw that in. It's part of the tub area.

We went to one of the other bath fitter companies because we had done business with them before and it was a nightmare. So we cancelled and then we started looking. Our home is about 40 years old and it did have one of the sleeves in the bathtub already. It was falling apart so it needed to be redone. It's an old cast iron tub and it so expensive to have it removed. We needed a more economical alternative and a new tub had to be put in. We are really happy with the quality of the new tub from Bath Fitter. The guy that came out was professional and really nice. He was quick and knew what he was doing. He did a very neat job. I have no complaints at all.

My husband needed to have the tub changed to a shower and remodeling the bathroom was the most convenient way to get it done rather than spending weeks picking out tile and having tile people come in. Bath Fitter's sales rep was courteous and professional and our interaction went very smoothly. On the other hand, the installation person was amazing. He was by himself and he took the cast iron tub out and didn't damage the floor around it. He put everything back together and explained everything to me and was out of here by 3 o'clock in the afternoon. However, I would check other avenues before I would do it again because I thought they're very pricey unless I need to do it in a hurry. But so far, the quality of the remodel has been good.

We were already in the idea of doing something about our shower because we noticed the more work we did, the harder we had to clean it. When we saw Bath Fitter's advertisement in the newspaper, we decided to call. A representative came out and explained and showed us pictures of the beautiful work that they do. They sent one man out to do the job. He was a very pleasant man and did a good job putting it all together. Any space that he used, he cleaned it all up nicely back and we were very happy with that. I love the beautiful shower and my wife fell in love with it right from the first day. She loves how she could get in there. And the helpful hands that they gave us to make it easier to keep it clean and what products to use were really good. They went out of their way to make sure that we were going to be happy, and we are.

Disappointed is about the only thing I can say. The salesman came out and was on time. After we told him what we wanted, he went over what Bath Fitters would do. He implied that there would be a licensed plumber do the work. He also said that due to the work that would be done it would take two days. He did advise if we did not sign up that day that he could not give us a discount.

Six weeks later, a man from Bath Fitter shows up. It took him two days because he was by himself, no one to help, and that he did not get to the house until 9:30 am and left around 4:30 - 5:00 pm because he had to drive back to Greenville, SC -- 1 1/2 - 2 hours away. On the last day, I asked him if he was a licensed plumber. He advised after he finally understood what I was asking that he was not, but that he would have the licensed plumber give me a call. I also asked about the Green board that was to be installed around the shower. Again, after he understood what I asked, he told me that he had only used it on the upper part that he had used plywood on the bottom part because of the seat.

When I spoke to the licensed plumber, I asked if he had done the work at our house. He advised that he was a corporate employee, that he did not do the work at the residence. All he done was get the permit, and drive by the residence to make sure he knew where it was in case the installer has a problem. He stated that he had not been on site. The installer told us not to use the bathroom, let it set up, that he had tried the water and it all worked. We did, but when we did try the water, the installer had cut the water off to the sink. When I called, they - Andrew - told me that it would be three days, would that be acceptable. I told them no, that if they had used a licensed plumber that this would not have happened.

He advised that the installers had training in plumbing. I told the man to send the Licensed Plumber out to fix the problem between 2 pm and 4 pm on Friday. He said that he would check with the Licensed Plumber and call me back. He called me back and told me that the Licensed Plumber could only come out before 8 am the morning. He had other things to do. Due to the fact that the bathroom remodel is for my 85 year old mother, she does not get up that early, I had to decline that appointment time.

The new Plumber called at 11:30 am and told me that he was on his way out to the house to fix the problems. I told him that no one was home because my mother was at her appointments that had rescheduled appointment from Friday afternoon. He then told me to call her and tell her to come home, he had got done with his other appointments. I told him no, that I would not call her and tell her to go home because she had rescheduled other appointment for him, that she would be home about 1:30 p.m., and I was at work and could not get off.

The new Plumber showed up and got the water working in the sink, but cut up another place in the floor. The first plumber had put a board over the hole where the drain lines were for the bathtub. He had taken in a broom and a shop vac into the bathroom. When I removed the board where the drain line was, I found out how the first Plumber cleaned up, he had sweep the trash down in the hole. When I called Andrew back, and told him that if he had sent two people out to work on the bathroom, it would not have had the problems and it would not have taken them two days. He told me that they only sent one person out to do the job, they did not care that they had to drive for an hour and half each way, that Bath Fitters reimburse them for the travel. Even though we bought the shower from Aden near Asheville, NC, (an hour away) the Plumber came out of Duncan SC, near Greenville SC (1 ½ to 2 hours away).

The first installed tub spider cracked on us, around the drain. The second installed tub was crooked, causing puddling. This third installed tub has stained beyond repair. I am being blamed for this. I am told my soaking products have stained the tub finish. I was sold on the tub because it was supposed to hold the water heat much longer, making for a nicer, longer soak. I was never cautioned not to use any certain soaking product. Now, I am told they will not honor another install after fixing this problem. None of this has been my fault.

I bought a lifetime warranty which the man I am now dealing with, Ryan, told me would be changed. If my tub stains again, it's my problem. Now I am told I cannot use certain bath soaks! Never was this part of the original agreement. How does any company blame the customer for their inferior product? I am filing with BBB. And I will look into all other avenues. You cannot revoke a lifetime warranty when I am not to blame for the damage. Shame on Bath Fitter, not so Fortune Five of them!

I decided to have Bath Fitter install a shower in my bathroom. It seemed like a very convenient option, this was currently my only working shower in the house so it was a huge plus to have it installed in one day. The consultation went great, the sales associate was very friendly and answered all questions we had about the bathroom, so we said "let's do it!" It all went downhill from here. We had the Bath Fitter scheduled. The day of the installation I get a phone call saying the company sent them the wrong size and they are going to have to reorder and it would be a few days. Luckily I had a family member sitting at the house that day so it wasn't a huge inconvenience that they canceled that same day they were supposed to come out.

We rescheduled and they came to install the shower and it took them the entire day. The bathroom looked great. They didn't do the best caulking job, and they sliced the wall while cutting something, but hey I can live with that I have a working shower. I waited two hours and took a bath in the other bathroom. I go to drain the tub and water goes everywhere. I thought ok, maybe it's nothing and plunge the area. The next day when I go to use my new shower the same issue occurs. Water is everywhere, even leaking into other rooms of the house. I call the company first thing in the morning and explain the situation. They tell me they will send out the installer who did the bathroom first thing tomorrow morning.

The next morning comes and I had taken the morning off to deal with the issue. I call around 9:00 am asking when the installer will be here. The receptionist tells me "Oh I forgot to call you. I spoke to the installer and he said he didn't touch your plumbing. You have a plumbing issue and we can't help you." I told her that I had taken the morning off and that she better send someone out. She says she will speak to her manager and call me back. She doesn't call me till 45 minutes later and tells me no one can come out. I ask her to have the manager call me.

It has been 2 days and I have not heard a word from the manager. I am very disappointed in the customer service I have received. I am convinced they stuck something down my drain and the fact that they cannot even humor me and have someone come back out or have the manager call me is unacceptable. Save yourself the headache and do not use Bath Fitter of Doral Fl, unless you want to hire a plumber to snake out your house after the installation!

I’m in my 70’s, and recently moved to Delaware from Connecticut. I bought a small condo and it has two bathrooms but the master bath had to have a step-in shower instead of a tub because it’s difficult for me to get into a tub. It was more of a need rather than just remodeling so it looks nice. My daughter called another company, but said they did not do things above the ground floor. So we called Bath Fitter, and everything was all set. The very nice young man that came to install the shower was picky about everything that he did. He had everything all covered up, and when he was done, you couldn’t tell that he had done anything. Obviously there was the nice new shower, but there were no residues or smell. It was wonderful, and at first, I didn’t want to get into it because it was so nice and white and bright and clean, and didn’t want to get soap suds on it. I'm happy with their work, and so far I haven’t had any problems with it.

We bought from Bath Fitter a shower with a full wall surrounding and then we had a tub with a wall put in a bathroom. We knew our bathroom had to be done well and be able to be maintained easily especially with kids in the house. We heard about Bath Fitter from our friends who had a couple bathrooms done by them. They seem to be the easier option than doing our bathroom on our own. And indeed, the installation was awesome. The contractors were professionals. We had a lot of contractors into the last year, with problems and other things, and the Bath Fitter contractors just knocked it out of the park.

I was to meet the estimator at a rental property and when I approached from the corner, one house away, I could already smell the very offensive cigar smoke. He had parked on the sidewalk blocking both a very highly used sidewalk and bike lane on a major street. When I approached the car, the smoke was overwhelming. He made some comment about waiting, (I was 18 minutes early) and there was a car in the drive so there wasn't any place to park. Well, the block is only 5 houses long and plenty of parking on either side street or across the street on the side street. There was no way I was going to talk to, stand by or let someone smelling so offensively in any property of mine nor trust someone so unprofessional making such poor decisions with a job. I left. Yes, I should have taken photos but I am a half a generation away from that being my first thought. Still angry!

I went to Johnson City to look at their display and was impressed. I looked at other remodeling companies and theirs wasn't as good a product so we chose Bath Fitter. We made our purchase last October. The sales rep was very knowledgeable. He called and followed up, and I can't say anything negative about him. The people who came to install the tub and the shower were very professional, took care of everything and cleaned up after themselves. They did a great job. A lot better in terms of quality than what I had before and much nicer setup. I would recommend them to anybody. I showed their work to somebody yesterday as a matter of fact.

My bathroom shower had not been upgraded since our house was built in the 1970's. I had talked to a couple of my neighbors who had Bath Fitters install showers in their homes and had nothing but great things to say. We scheduled an appointment with a sales rep who was very professional and knowledgeable about the product he was selling. Bath Fitters is not a cheap investment but then neither is your home. We have been extremely happy with our installation and have had many friends and family tour our bathroom just to see how it turned out. The Bath Fitters warranty was the final selling point for me. If you are thinking about a shower renovation, you owe it to yourself to see what they have to offer...

I looked at what Bath Fitter had and we liked it. We bought a shower, and the sales representative who came explained everything to us. The installer also explained what he was going to do before he started. They tore the tub and we got the step-in shower. There was about a 4 or 5-inch step so we won't have to step way in real high. We were satisfied and happy with it, and would recommend Bath Fitter.

It wasn't a good experience with Bath Fitter because when they put the bottom part of the tub, the water wouldn't stay in it. They came back out and put another one and had to put it over that one. And the door was leaking when you get a shower. They came out three times to fix that and they didn't completely fix it, my son was able to do so. I talked to them and they told us that they'd give us half the money back but no guarantee with it. They did refund almost half of our money back, the cost to put it in. When I started calling them about the problem, there's a couple of other things that didn't work right with it. And they told us when they were gonna put it in that it would be one complete wrap around with no seams on the inside of the shower stall. It has two seams in it where they said that the piece that they had to go in the shower stall didn't go all the way around.

And when I complained about that, they came out and said that was the only way that they could do it. And I told them "well, that wasn't what we thought we'd get." The guy said that sometimes that happens. And I said, "Well, your advertisement was that it was a no seam shower stall." It's definitely frustrating. What made it so bad for me was my husband had just died and this happened the week after he was buried, that we started dealing with that. And I was too wrapped up in everything else. I'm angry at them for the way that they were telling me this is gonna be one way and then it turns out it’s another way, and they can't do anything about it. They say "it's under warranty so if it starts giving you some problems, then we can come back and fix it." I felt that it was a runaround so I wouldn't recommend them.

We were very pleased with Bath Fitter. The only negative experience that we had was with the salesperson who came and did the pitch. He originally told us that we could get it done before Christmas and that there shouldn't be any problem because they slowed down. They didn't get it in until the end of January so we were a little disgusted with the time frame but it wasn't a deal-breaker. Once they actually got here, everything was fine. Their installation people were clean and polite, and they seemed very professional. But I would say that they should have a better communication between the salesperson and the installation people.

I had a tub removed and Bath Fitter Shower installed on 6/2/14 in Jacksonville, FL. Kind of pricey ($5,300) but I am satisfied with the look of the shower and the easy maintenance. A year later and it looks like new. My only criticism would be that the shower floor is too slippery by my standards. I did have safety bars installed which do help but the shower floor would be the only thing I feel could be improved upon. Thank you.

My parent's bathtub is old and my mom would like to get a new bathtub so I decided to call Bath Fitter for the job. The salesman came on time and I showed him the problem with the current bathtub. I pointed at the caulking and told him that we hate this caulking and he said with the new tub, we will not have the caulking because it will come in one piece. As soon as we heard one piece and no caulking, we were sold.

Come the day of installation, I was at the doctor office with my son and my phone rang, my mom called me and told me it was not one piece, it was two piece. So of course my dad did not let them install the tub and the installer left. In the afternoon same day, the Regional Vice President called me and scheduled an appointment with me so he can explain why it came two pieces. He said the salesman has never told us it will come in one piece but rather two and the caulking is still going to be used but it is lifetime guaranteed. I told him I was sold by the salesman on the fact this is one piece and because it is one piece so no caulking is needed.

I have a Salon so since the day I signed the contract, I was so happy and told all my customers that I am remodeling my bathtub with bath fitter and they told me it is only one piece so no caulking needed but now this is so disappointing. The Regional Vice President also make me feel like we are stupid. He asked me if the reason of cancelling is I have told my customers that it will come in one piece and now it comes in two piece so now I am embarrassed to them so I cancel. What does it have to do with my customers? He kept telling me that the salesman never said one piece. If the salesman never said one piece, how do I know whether it can come in one piece or two piece? I am not a bathtub professional.

I have signed the request for cancellation even though it has passed 3 days recession from the day we signed the contract because Bath Fitter has failed delivering their promise. I have put down $637 and now and I am asking for my deposit back. I would never get into this contract with Bath Fitter if the salesman has told me it is two piece and caulking still needed. I rather keep my old bathtub.

A friend of mine bought a house and their basement unit was a Bath Fitter when they moved in. Through their recommendation, we had Bath Fitter replace our master bathroom's shower 8 months ago since it was a quick fix. I knew the job will be done, all inclusive, instead of having to worry about a contractor. Their sales rep was very friendly and informative. Installation was also very quick. I took the whole day off for it but really didn't need it eventually, but I appreciate the speed. I'd definitely recommend them.

The experience was great from start to finish. I called Bath Fitter to see what their prices were, and I loved Bridgette. She was the one who answered the phone and handled the questions. Then the guy came, measured and did the sale. They were all incredible - we didn't even consider anyone else after they came, did the measurements and costing. Their sales rep was one of the most polished and informative people I've ever dealt with. I told him what I was looking for and then he formatted everything to fit our needs. He also made a couple of suggestions. We went with his recommendations and were thrilled. He laid it out, presented it and wasn't pushy. Also, the guy from the installation team did a great job. He was efficient, trustworthy, and in no time, had it done. He also cleaned up all of the mess. We absolutely recommend Bath Fitter!

I had a plug further down the drain line and I told the salesman about it. He just said they're not supposed to do that much plumbing work but he told me to buy some stuff and he'll tell me what to do. Then instead of him instructing me, he just did it.
