    Recently, my ice maker in my freezer stopped working. I called in my problem and I was immediately assigned Sears as the repair service. They came out within two days. The part was ordered by the technician; it arrived with a few days and the technician returned within a week to replace the part. Quite a savings... I paid $55 but the total invoice was $492; the balance to be billed to American Residential Warranty.

    American Residential Warranty is a great warranty company. When my washer went out call them. Sears was out in two days and my washer was fixed. When my refrigerator stopped working call them and the man was out in three days because it was a Friday and the repairman couldn't come until Monday.     I called Friday... repair completed Monday. The tech actually drove to pick up the part twenty miles away. A previous ice maker was mail ordered and it took a week to arrive and another week awaiting installation. I'm not sure which scenario is more cost effective from your company's perspective, but generally accept for "critical" services such as electrical power, ac/heating/refrigerator, most consumers would be satisfied with a three day call to repair window.

    Read the fine print. When you think something is covered, it probably isn't or they give you a portion of what it costs to replace. They wouldn't cover my self-cleaning oven, water softener not covered, and my a/c went out and would cost $2900 to replace, and they gave me $1100. I canceled them and went to another company.

    We have been with American Residential Warranty for over 10 years now and I can say that we have never experienced a problem with the company or with any of the service providers. We recently had Total Appliance out to our home to look at the HVAC system, it was not cooling the downstairs. The tech looked at the system and advised us that it wasn't the system. So he mentioned a couple other issues and advised us with a few solutions to remedy the problem. Total Appliance Techs are very knowledgeable and they make sure that we understood of the solutions. We received a call from ARS and ask how the service provider handle the situation. I told them that they were very professional and well knowledge and we would request there service again. We all have choices when it comes to service providers and warranty companies. We are very happy with the service that we have received over the years with ARS.

    I called ARW because we weren't receiving cold air from our ducts. So I was not sure what the problem was so wanted it checked out. They sent a tech out and he said that everything is ok, not sure what the problem is. I mentioned to him that I noticed that they duct work was extremely cold. So he assessed that the duct are leaking cold air. That is not covered by the warranty group. So lo and behold, I got a bill from the warranty group via the air conditioning company for $80.00. This does not make me happy. I have been with ARW for over 10 years, @ $68.00 which would added up $8100. They want me to pay for the $80.00. I will and I will then cancel my service with them and as well as my two family members, which we had them join the group. Moral of the story is... don't ** off the customer.
