I was with another company years ago and their service was great. But their pricing got out of control. The guy that I was with recently started raising his prices and lowering his service. So, time was right, I switched over to ADT and everything went relatively smoothly.

I had ADT in the past, and I just wanted to get it in my house again. It was a $99 charge to have them come out. When they came out, I thought we were gonna go through and get an estimate. Then the fellow said he could just install it there. I said, "Fine." I didn't realize he wasn't an ADT personnel. He wore an ADT shirt, but he worked for some franchise. He installed it. He couldn't get one of the systems to work with the front doorbell. The video doesn't work, but the doorbell works. He also had to use an extender in the house, which I was not sure why I had to because I have Google network which is giving Wi-Fi throughout the whole house. I have three points, plus the router point. He couldn't get the bell to work.
I got called by a customer service person at the end of the day, and she asked me if they'd finished. I said they hadn't finished and that he’d said he was coming back to finish because he couldn't get the doorbell to ring and the doorbell camera to work. I waited all week, but nobody showed up. I called Saturday. It was seven days. Then yesterday, the camera for the backyard wouldn't respond. So, now I have two cameras that I paid for that don't work. I'm a little frustrated at this point.
The guy who came out said he was a technician, but he was doing the sales. I informed him before he even got here that our cable carrier is Spectrum and Google Wi-Fi. I'd asked if that was gonna be a problem, and it became a problem. I would like the technicians to get better training. It seemed like he didn't really know. He tried two separate devices, and they would not sync with the rest of the system. I find that kind of weird. Then my whole system was wonky after he put that extender in there. Then he had to change my Google password because, for some reason, it didn't mesh that it had characters in it.
I still have the system that I paid for. Two cameras don't work, so I really just want the system removed. I'd go with one of the other carriers, because it's ridiculous. They're saying I should have turned it in in three days. How could I do that when it wasn't finished. They were calling me. I said it was finished, and it was like they bullied me into saying it because it was finished to the extent that it was 5:30, and they were leaving. I didn't want them at my house any longer. They've been here since 8:00 in the morning. It was a good time for them to leave. I have put out $900 so far, and I have a system that I used for two days and it wasn't even completely installed. I was just using the door things and the back camera, and now it's even less usable because of that camera isn't working.

I called up Protect Your Home/ADT for the application and it went perfectly. Then, a gentleman did the sensor and door alarm. It's working. Also, he demonstrated what he had installed. It’s a good amount of money and this contract with three years and with $50 something. I’m hoping the money doesn’t go up.

After 18 years with ADT I cancelled my service in order to economize. I cancelled on 10/5/20 and was told I had to give 30 days notice and that I would receive a bill for a prorated amount. After listening politely to offer after offer of various sales pitches to sell me on continuing services, I said, "No thanks" and suggested if he wanted to thank me for my many years of service he could waive the month's prorate. He said he couldn't do that but offered me a 25% discount. My prorated bill came a couple of days ago and no sign of a 25% discount. So I called....a couple of transfers,,,,hold times totalling close to 30 minutes....you know the routine. Come to find out I had been lied to. The 25% discount had not been and would not be applied. I am far angrier now than I would have been if the offer had never been made. After talking to three different people, you'd have thought someone would be willing to make good on their employee's promises. Shame on them!
Hi Susan,
You're very welcome. Although we're sad to see you go, we thank you for your loyalty to us these past 18 years. Take care and stay safe.

I have been with ADT for the last two years. We decided to stop the services due to unbelievable lousy customer service and the ripoff fees. They won't let go. They keep sending bills and charging account. Every time I call, they apologize and a few days later sending the invoices again and charging our credit card without any authorization; RUN AND HIDE FROM ADT.
Hello. We do apologize for the frustration this has caused you. The invoice you have received is the charge for the remainder of the contract. At the time of cancellation, you were still within the the first 3 years of the original agreement and therefore you have been charged for the termination fee. We do see you have CCTV account which is still active with us, in the event the CCTV account should be closed, please email us a signed letter of cancellation with the address and telephone number associated with the account to AlwaysThere@adt.com Thank you, Carla

I had ADT years ago then we disconnected it 'cause of financial reasons. Things are better now and with everything going on, we wanted to reactivate ADT. My wife and I saw the ad in my Yahoo account that I got. I called and we set it up. It's an easy home security with big savings. The home security system reactivation is 19.95 a month. There's free system activation plus three bonus offers. They sent me all the Visa rewards card I was supposed to get. There are free wireless door and window sensor. There's also bonus ADT indoor camera when you upgrade to video light. I'm paying 27.99 a month and I thought it was gonna include the Ring camera from when I talked to the salesperson. But when the installers came, they said, "No. That's an upgrade." He said I was gonna have almost like an iPad thing on the wall which is the keypad for the codes. But they put a button touch ones and it's probably better than having the screen. They were great.

I had the Comcast for 10 years but I was very upset because when I call their people, they don't pay much attention. My boss has ADT and he told me to try them. So, I decided for the ADT. The sales rep I talked to was very good and very polite. Then, the installer was very fast and very professional. So far, the features of the system are not bad but the price was so high. Other than that, the functionality is good and I am very comfortable because the alarms work very well.

The sales rep was friendly and knowledgeable and so was the guy that came out. He answered all my questions. It was a nice experience with ADT. I also had them before.

ADT's installer was thorough. He explained everything really well before he installed things. He worked within our budget for what we were trying to accomplish. He did things correctly and we would call him back if we want to add more features to our system. He was perfect. So far, we're enjoying our system besides the alarm which we can set to "stay" or away". We like that our doors chime 'cause we have a son who is disabled and incontinent. A lot of times, he tries to get away and the chiming doors tell us that somebody has triggered our door or window. It helps us be more comfortable moving around the house.
I work third shift at nights and my son is with me after he gets home from school. I know that I can comfortably take a nap and if he opens a door, I'd be up right away. I enjoy having the alarm set at night as it makes me feel better knowing that my wife and kids are comfortable and safe. There's no way to express how much my ADT's system has helped tone down everybody at home with the anxiety they have.

I looked up ADT. We also had a sticker of it on the house we're renting. ADT was willing to work with me and help me out. I got a good deal from them. I like my system. It gives us comfortability and it makes my wife feel safer being at home. I also like the app that I have as I could see what doors are open and if the alarm is set or not. ADT has been good to me. It's a good price and I recommend it.

ADT's rep was very pleasant. The technician was very educational. He had his mask on the whole time. He stayed his distance and when he entered the home, he took his shoes off. The installation wasn't really long. He had some difficulties calling on the phone with whoever he had to talk to. It wasn’t connecting but that's about it. I like the keyless remote. When I'm going, I can click and turn it off or on with the alarm. I like that feature. Everything's good though.

I phoned Chris, ADT's installer and he was very knowledgeable and helpful. He did a good job and I enjoyed his company. However, there is an issue with the remote master screen for the system which looks like a little iPad. It's battery only lasts a day and I have to keep plugging and charging it. I regret buying this part. Other than these issues, I'm very happy with the system.

We looked around and ADT gave us the best deal. The guy we talked to on the phone and the guy that came out here and showed us the product were both really good. They were both really nice. The guy showed up for the installation at about 8:15 and he was done by about 12:30. With my ADT system, I know that my family's protected while I'm going to work at night.

I saw ADT in Facebook and I had a home security system prior to them but it was not monitored like this one. I live alone now so I see the advantage. The technician was wonderful and he was a doll. It was very non-invasive putting them in, which was the best thing. It works. I’ve had the system for just a couple of weeks and I’ve tripped it off twice. But I reset it. My experience with ADT has been absolutely easy.

After doing a lot of research, I realized that ADT is a well-known company. I don't see a lot of negative feedback, so I chose them. They're quite expensive but they really are a good security company. Yesterday, I went on a day trip with my daughter and the interior house painter was here. We were able to access the cameras throughout whenever and watch what's going on. Also, I was able to arm the house as soon as the painter left and I was really far away. That was really great.

Most of the people that I know use ADT so I went with them. The person that took the order was nice, spoke very clearly and gave me very good input on what I was looking for and what I needed. The guy didn't take long to do the installation. He came in and did what he had to do. He was courteous and explained everything right. However, ADT needs to lower the price a little bit on the camera video. They will do one for 300. I was also suggesting that instead of one camera, there should be two cameras because most people want to protect their front and back.

In the flyer, what's said is that for the $800 value, I would get seven sensors. But once the tech came in, he explained that it wasn't exactly like that and the equipment was much more expensive. Originally, the plan was for us to have sensors on the windows and the doors and have a touchscreen panel. That’s like a home base for the system. But a lot of back and forth. Eventually, we ended up getting a couple of glass break sensors, instead of all the sensors. Then just a keypad, no touch screen.
Originally, I wanted the touchscreen. The person that came in first told us that that would be available to us. Then once I knew the difference between what the salesperson had told me over the phone and what the tech was telling me at home, then I needed to go to work so I had to reschedule for the next day. Then the next day, they couldn't find my credits. They couldn't get me the panel that I thought I could get. We rescheduled again, ‘cause it seemed like there were some technical issues. We started on Thursday and then we ended up installing it on Tuesday. The installation went well once we figured out all of that stuff.
The tech that really helped us out was Zach. He came in on Thursday. He broke everything down for us. We really understood what was going on. For lack of time, we couldn't just make a decision right then and there cause I have all the information that he was telling me was pretty much new. Then I rescheduled for the next day. Someone else came in. His name was Quentin and that was a complete waste of time. He didn't seem to us, my fiancée and I, like he really wanted to help install the system. He was just outside a lot, talking to I don't know whom, because there was not really much transparency there. Again, this was during the workday, so I had to constantly come in and out. I have dogs. They were just going crazy. He was here for the better part of two hours and we really got nothing done.
I know that, to be fair, he had seemingly a technical issue with his end of things in terms of saying what was available to us. But regardless, his attitude was not what we were expecting. He just didn't seem to us that if even we were to just ask for the most basic system just to get something done, he would not have been willing to do that. So that was unfortunate. Again, there was a time we asked him to reschedule because nothing was getting done aside from the technical issue that he had. He let us know that he rescheduled with our original technicians for Monday, and we found out that that was not the case.
On Monday, the day came and went and no one from ADT came in. When we called, they explained that a technician alone could not reschedule an appointment. So that was pretty much a lie on his part. Again, another day wasted. We asked time away from work so that we tend to people coming in, especially now in COVID era too, you just wanna make sure you have as little contact as possible. I had people come in three and four times for all this. So, not ideal. But again, in the end, the technician that helped us out was very helpful and we got something worked out. I still recommend ADT. It just took us longer than we thought it was going to be.

My guy friend just purchased a home and a representative had talked to him about getting a security system. He shared the information with me. So I decided to go ahead and get ADT. The rep I spoke with on the phone was good. Installation went well. It just took a little longer. The representative had said the reason why it took longer was because the system was down. So instead of everything already being ready, we had to call in. But he was fine. He explained everything to me and he walked me through everything before he left.

I know that ADT is top quality when it comes to home security. The technician explained how to use this system. However, I'm not satisfied with the features. Sometimes the motion cameras don't pick up where I need it to be picked up. Second of all, I paid out an additional $1,400 something for equipment on top of the $800 so my package was $2,200. The one thing we didn't get was the thermostat, which I thought we could be able to control through the app, in which the lady told me on the phone. But other than that, ADT is on point about everything. Equipment’s a little pricey, but we're getting good quality. I own equipment now. Overall, the service is good.

My fiancé has another house and he has ADT. So, he decided to put it here, too. I had one installation team, but it didn't work out. I almost canceled, and then, I came back again. They sent another person, and that person was fabulous. He explained all the procedures and that he would take about one to two hours for the installation. He showed me all the equipment that he could offer. He looked for more offers in the area to provide me with more stuff that I might need or want. It went great. It was better than I expected.

I went with ADT based on name recognition and then my dealings with them in my profession. I went through a questionnaire and then they contacted me. It was quick and brief, but descriptive. Then they scheduled a salesperson to come out relatively shortly on my schedule. A few days later, he sat down and went through the whole system with me, and what I want and didn't want. He worked with me there and then had it all installed that day. So it went smoothly. It was quick and efficient, but I definitely felt like I had a lot of say in it.
They need to be a little more forthcoming on how long the installation will take and make their customers aware that it could be longer than they're expecting for an installation. I had quite a few bells and whistles put in, so it took a little bit longer than I was expecting. Other than that, the system works well and it seems to be a good grade. I had a system before this with a different company and it felt and looked cheap compared to what ADT provides. But then the use of it is all very simple.

We've seen ADT signs all the time and we recently moved, so there were stuff in the mail. There was not a lot of sales involved when we signed up and it was cut-and-dry because we said we wanted it. We just wanted to set up an appointment and find out about it. The installer did a very good job although the installation took longer than expected. We're an older couple and it was a late in the day appointment so we got overwhelmed. I'm a morning person. So, after dinner, things just quit working. We were under the impression it would take a couple of hours and the rep was here for six. He did a great job of cleaning up but it was too much. We got to the point where I was done thinking and trying to figure this out. There are things that we have questions on but it was a whirlwind of do this, and then he was gone. We looked at each other and asked what we were supposed to do.
Overall, we're fine with it. There were a few small things such as the doorbell camera. We didn't have a doorbell so we didn't get one. My daughter happened to be visiting and they have a system that doesn't need it to do that so she was asking why we had to have a hardwired doorbell. We thought there was gonna be a motion sensor somewhere or a motion-activated light and that didn't happen. I want some follow-up to this. We have had trouble with it. We have intermittent cell service with the wall monitor. I called about it at night and it was a long wait. They told me how to reboot it and it took care of itself. Then, 10 minutes later, it was back. I haven't gone online to set up my ADTV too. We've got people coming and I was gonna be very busy. So, maybe it was bad timing on our part. There are a few things we're not happy with. I would be a little cautious to recommend ADT or make people aware it's a lot to process all at once.

I already had an alarm system with another company, but they weren't trying to help me out with some stuff. I had been with them for about seven years and it was time to go. One of my buddies and his wife just bought a house and I asked them how ADT was. He liked it and I trust his judgment, so I tried it. I met the installer for about an hour, and he was very professional. He wore a mask, kept his distance and did regular standard precaution.
I like the system, but one of the issues is whenever I look at the cameras, it takes a minute for it to come up on my phone. Sometimes it might take 10 seconds, but I don’t know if you see it pop right up then or not. I'm going on business a lot, so my wife has had a lot more time to mess with it than I do. I looked at it once or twice with the cameras, and my wife told me about that. I walked out then and looked at the system overview. I don't mess with the system that much but I will recommend ADT to somebody without a problem.

I like the system a lot. However, I felt like the guy kept trying to upsell me and get me to look at my new packages. He kept pushing for that. I told him that it would get me over my credit line and I won't be paying out of pocket. He kept missing what I was telling him. That's the only thing that can be drastically improved.

The customer service of ADT was good, but I really didn't understand that I would have to put out money, and then have that time saved for me, because I wasn't really sure if I wanted the installation or not. So that was the bait and switch. Then they told me that I was gonna get $100 gift card from Visa and then they retracted that offer once I did the installation, because I didn't do a big installation. It wasn't really ever explained to me thoroughly. I was not even gonna get the installation, but they said, “If you didn't decide today, then you would have to pay again.” I was like, “Oh, that's not gonna happen.” So I didn't really care for that. It should be free estimates. It was like a hard sell thing.
My system also doesn't work correctly. I called the technician, he has yet to return my phone call. I can't set the alarm to Away or to Stay and leave the house as the alarm goes off. Then the ADT pamphlet says that I have to email them within the first 90 days if I have an issue, which is ridiculous. You should be able to call. I am really not happy with ADT at all. I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody.
Also, the technician that came out, he just talked about his family and talked about everything. I was like, “You're supposed to be professional. You're here to work on my house. I don't care about your family.” Great if you had a fire at your house, and you wanna equate stuff to that, but keep it to business. He's the technician that has yet to call me back, even though he was all flowery and said, “If you have a problem or an issue, I always give people my cell phone number. Here's my cell phone number.” He has not texted me, he has not called me and it's been over a week. Now I'm roped into this three-year contract, which is ridiculous because I didn't even get a grace period. ADT is monitored by people, that's the only reason why I went with them.

ADT is a well-known name. Years ago, I got a security system in my old house. I remember researching it, and I heard about ADT then. This time, we got it again. There ended up being three gentlemen that came. The first one came in and explained everything to me. They were really patient with me when there was an issue 'cause I had the wrong card. They had to go outside and wait by their car while I went to the bank and got cash 'cause my other card hadn't been activated yet. Although there were a few things that they said that weren't very polite, they did a good job.
However, one of my windows keeps saying that it's open, but it's not. There are two pieces on all the other windows, where one is on the frame and then another one is on the window itself. On the window that says it's open, I noticed that there's a piece that's on the other windows that's not on that one. I don't remember anything falling or breaking, and I haven't seen anything. I also don't feel any glue where something might've fallen off. That has been from the beginning as well. Apart from that, my experience has been great.

When I spoke to someone from ADT on the phone, I told her that I had the camera system with ADT and she said, “Okay. They'll reactivate the system.” When the guy came to the house, he ripped out the old installation. He did not put a camera in it because he said it’s gonna cost me $299 to do all of that. I said, “The person on the phone did not tell me that because I tell her I already have a camera and I was hooked up with ADT, what I had.” He finished in one day, but he was a little aggressive. He’s not gonna put the camera in it. He ripped out the first system, put up a system, which I don't even like because when a door opens, I can’t hear it. It is so low. I don't really like this new system here.
Also, the camera doesn’t hook up. I had a camera and I could see anybody come in the house and see if I have people that did stuff in the house. So, that’s why I had the camera the first time, and he said he would not hook it up. I said, “I spoke to the lady, and the lady tell me it’s okay. They’ll do everything.” I don’t know why do I have to pay 299 for that. Overall, I recommend ADT, but not that guy.

He asked me if there were any questions but everything was okay from my standpoint. They were very good. The only thing that kinda set me back was making the payment right then and there. I didn't know about that. If I was told that I will have to make a payment once they are done doing my installation, I would've been aware of it. They should let the customer be aware that they're gonna be putting out some money that day. Also, they said that I will be receiving a $100 bank credit card. This morning, one of the contacts of my less-than-two-weeks-installed system fell off the window and I was 30 miles away. The police came and there was a big fiasco. I ended up finding the contact swimming in my dog's water bowl. I'm irritated with the fact that it cost me a day of work sitting through a four-hour window to get my system installed and then the system also cost me today. I'm a painting contractor and I don't have time to be running back from 30 miles away at 100 miles an hour because I think I'm being robbed. ADT needs to attach contacts better.
While I don't have a problem with the amount of money ADT's system costs per month, I'm not really happy with things right now. Nobody from ADT has made an offer to help me out or compensate me in any way for the fiasco. They made another four-hour window appointment to come back and attach things correctly. ADT should know that I'm an unsatisfied brand-new customer and consider whether they should do a little something for me. Also, they should not give out four-hour windows like everybody can just sit around and wait for their techs to show up.
Hey Scott! Our sincerest apologies for this. Our sensors are generally installed in such a way where this type of trouble is not the norm. We were planning to move and we want to keep the property. We want to have a security system and ADT is one of the most famous ones so we picked ADT. The sales process was a good experience. The appointment was done and they scheduled a time and a technician would come to our home and install everything. The technician came and suggested what he thought would be working well for me, and then I went from there to decide what we were going to get.

There was a lot of misinformation on things that I simply did not know and I ended up getting some additional costs. It wasn't really explained to me what was going to be covered based on the ADT plan that I chose. I thought I was gonna get a pad and these doors and windows sensors and I didn't know it was on top. For the package being offered, there should at least be one camera so you can view what's going on in your house when you're not there. I have a keypad upstairs but I play the drums and I would probably spend the majority of my time upstairs. If I get an indication that something's going on downstairs, I would rather see who's gonna pop up the stairs or who's coming through the door. But it's like this whole other plan I gotta get, which costs a lot more money.
Also, I had no idea the installation was gonna take 12 hours. The tech, John, came to my house a little after 8:00 and he left after 8:00. But he was very sweet and very nice. He explained everything to me and he hooked up everything nicely. I'm very happy with the service. I got my keypad, I can arm the system, and I can disarm it from anywhere, which is a great help, especially when I’m bringing in grocery. I enjoy it. It lets me know who's coming into the house and what door is open.

The gentleman from ADT that was here was amazing. We have a lot of windows and he had over 18 things to install, name, and download. I kept telling him to come back the next day but he wanted to make sure everything was done correctly. He was here until after 8 PM. I'm still figuring out the system because there are times when it tells me that there's a window open but it says that the alarm is set. Also, when I leave the house, it's supposed to remind me if I've locked it down or not and that hasn't happened. I don't know if I've traveled enough outside of the mile range that we put. And my husband just went on to hospice and I haven't gone through the book or anything to play around with it. Other than that, I feel safer in the house with my husband not being mobile.

We had had ADT before and have never had any issues with them. It was pretty straightforward. There wasn't a lot of thought process. There aren't a lot of options either. Customer service was great. Marlin, the representative that came, was fantastic. I was surprised on the cost. We were under the assumption it was going to be one amount, and it ended up being something completely different. It would have been great to have a little forewarning what the cost of things were going to be so that we can be prepared.
It was almost $3,000 versus $900. It's a log cabin and because of its nature, we had to do a hybrid system. It was decided that it would be better to put, instead of glass breaks on windows, vibration. These are a little more costly. It would have been great to understand and know what our options were so that we would have been thinking about it beforehand and not been shocked.
We spent the money and we did it. In getting a security system, you should understand points of entry, and what's gonna help you sleep at night. You need to know what you're comfortable with, what points are most important to protect, what seems unnecessary, and what things aren't really necessary. You don't have to have a doorbell with a camera if you already have one camera. You have to know a little more clearly what it is that you want and understand what's offered which goes along with understanding what the real cost is going to be.

We've been awfully busy trying to move in and we haven't fully gotten through all the features, but we're very happy with what we've seen. My initial contact with customer service was good. When the guy came out, he was very nice but the prices and initial fees changed. It sounded like they've never had the system that was already installed in my house here. So they've never had to deal with that. Normally, they have to upgrade but it was already upgraded. They were not quite sure how to switch over a system that was already upgraded. Then there were more fees than originally disclosed, which was very frustrating. If a situation is something that they've never ran into before, they shouldn't charge the first customer and then get a program in line that states how they should handle it going forward. That way, everything is disclosed prior, and so nothing is really a surprise. But the equipment is pretty nice stuff. ADT is still a good company and I still like the experience.

I had a conversation with my friends the other day and I let them know that the price ADT quotes is not what the final price is gonna be. I thought the cost would be $30 a month but instead, it was $60 a month. The person on the phone said that their deal was gonna cover all my sensors for my windows. It didn't and I had to pay $700. He told me that he couldn't install them like that as it was not professional.
I asked him to put my damn old sensors back up and he got mad. He put them back and left screws on my hardwood floor. Having a pissed off attitude was a hell of a way to train somebody. So, I put my new sensors under my old ones which cover my paint. ADT is on the ball though. When I screwed up and opened a door, they called and told me how to set my system back. Still, they need to do something with their installation team out of Wilmington.

We had ADT in our last apartment before we moved out. We got them again this time and the salesperson we talked to was a young lady. She was very helpful and it was pretty easy getting everything set up and situated before the visit of the installer. The installer did the walkthrough and made sure that we were aware of how everything worked and where everything was. He was also talking this through the placement of the items and what they do.
However, there should be transparency in the cost of equipment upfront before the visit. It would be really helpful as we found ourselves in a tight spot of having to make a decision right there because we didn't want to miss out on the $100 that we set down prior to the visit. The amount that we had to come out of with the coverage that we wanted was kind of unexpected because we had no scope of how much we were looking at as far as the cost of equipment, even with the discounts, which we greatly appreciated. If any of my peers would be getting their system hooked up, they should have a good amount set aside prior to the visit, which in a way is a different conversation about budgeting, especially when you're a first time homebuyer like we are.

I thought I was dealing with ADT, but I wasn't. I was dealing with a third party.
I was told by ADT yesterday that that's not exactly how it goes. What's gonna happen is that company that I dealt with initially was going to send me an email. I would have missed the email anyway. He said it comes in 7 to 10 days. I would have to go on there, go to the email field itself, fill this out, show them the bill for ADT, all this other stuff just to get $99 back. If I had known all of that, I would not have gone with ADT. But everything was perfect with the installation. The installer did an amazing job. He was professional. He told me what he was aware. It seemed like he was still trying to learn the product but all in all, he seemed very friendly and courteous. It was a good experience as far as customer service.
ADT could be upfront with the pricing. They should be honest about the product they're selling. Initially, they told me they were gonna give me $850 worth of equipment. I should have known better but I didn't. But I did ask upfront what was gonna be the total cost. I kept asking that question and it never got answered. When the guy finished with his presentation, he came up to $8,000. It was a bit much. I don't have a mansion. I don't need to protect anything. I kept receiving emails, text messages and mail from ADT and there were also constant follow-ups which made me decide on them. Plus, I needed to make sure my family’s safe because I work a lot. I’m not daily at home and I have a little girl and a wife. Then, I compared it to other ones. My uncle used to have ADT Home Security. I see them mostly and it’s better to go with what you're more cognizant with. I bought this home in April and I would have had this home security in May.
When I called to do the whole process, they ran my credit and I still have that hard inquiry on my report. However, we got disconnected and nobody called me back to follow up. I've been carrying that baggage on my credit profile. It got me upset because I felt like maybe I didn't matter. I wasn't important. I wanted to dispute the inquiry because I felt it was fraudulent. For someone to go as extensive as running your credit, looking at your credit profile and leaving a hard inquiry, which lasts for two years with you, the least they could do is follow up after that and say that they’re working on it, they got you checked and everything is okay, and they just need to complete the process.
I was trying to call the number again and I couldn't get anybody. After they followed up, they were doing the random emails I keep receiving like I was trying to get the whole thing all over again. One of the marketing teams reached out to me and I told them how far I’ve gone. So it took them a while to go through the process again but we were able to get it started and move forward. Ring Security has this floodlight camera and I’m looking to put that. The inside of the house is secured so somebody would have to break in but with the floodlight cam, I can see things from outside before it even happens. ADT doesn't have something like that. If somebody was to sell that kind of part to me, it might make me a little bit biased. It’s something that I need and I want us to have cameras around the outside of my property so I can see the vehicles and my backyard. ADT might want to look into it if it’s not something they carry.
My experience is still very new and I'm still looking at the device. I would need somebody to talk to about it. If I click on the button that says “Awake,” it keeps sending me text messages that the stuff was disconnected, which makes me kind of unsteady. So if I’m at work, because I work mostly at night, I keep receiving this text. “The alarm system was disarmed.” So I would have to go into the physical app itself where it can now say “I’m away.” I'm worried not to keep pushing buttons so the alarm don't go off. I added my wife to the panel and she said she doesn't receive messages.

The company that we were with was hard to get ahold of and they didn't have a good monitoring system. For years, we weren't being monitored at all. When I called them to get service for a smoke detector that wasn't working, they were supposed to call me back and they never did. They have a different equipment company that handles the equipment, and I had to contact them. They wouldn't come out to replace the smoke detector. At that point, I decided to look somewhere else. The ADT sales agent was super nice and then the installer showed up when he was supposed to and went through everything with us. It was seamless. He was in and out of here within three hours.
The only issue that we had, the night that it was installed, we got a low battery alert on one of the smoke detectors, and I changed the batteries. Twelve hours later, it was giving me a low battery alert again. I have someone coming out on Thursday to address it and they're probably gonna end up swapping out the detector. Other than that, we haven't had the system go off for anything. Based on what I was told though, the monitoring should be high quality. I'm very satisfied. I feel that should we have a fire, our fire department would be notified quickly compared to the other company that we had.

ADT's rep was being a typical pushy salesman, but he gotta do what he gotta do. Then, it took him a long time to get the installation done, and he had to come back the next day. That was a little bit of a headache. I just haven't had really a time to call, but my frustration is that it was kinda like here-are-your-manuals-and-here-you-go type of thing. He didn’t really show up anything on the app or anything on the keypad really. I'm trying to just figure out how to do stuff on my own. The only difficulty I have right now is that we have a video camera that I'm trying to set up some video motion areas, where it's pointed at the road and I don't need it going off every time a car drives by, but I do need it going off if somebody pulls in our driveway. He didn't know how to set that up, and that's kind of how he left it at that.
Beyond that, it wasn't too bad after the install. I'm enjoying the ability to have that doorbell and the video camera. I definitely enjoy that, and being able to see it on my app. I do enjoy knowing when the doors are open or doors are close. It's sad to say, but that’s kinda the highlight right now. I feel like I definitely overpaid for a security system because I'm not getting the full value of it yet.
I just moved into the home, and they had an ADT panel there, and I said, “Oh, okay. I'll just call ADT out and then it'll be a simple 1,2 3,” and it was not the case. So, I'm kicking myself in the butt. I probably should have shopped around a little bit more and kind of see what else is out there. It was 1,000 bucks for the equipment, and now, it's $60 a month for the contract.

I always liked ADT but I went with something cheaper for a while. Since the company I went with didn't have everything covered, I went back to ADT thinking that all my windows would be covered in my house. The rep on the phone was good but a lot of things she told me, once the installer got here, it changed. With the installation, everything that she told me I was gonna get on the phone, I didn't get. I also had to pay which she didn't tell me about. She told me the only money that I would have to pay would be $104 for the installation fee. I was charged another $41 equipment charge. They charged me another $29 the day of service and I haven't even had the service in months yet.
The rep on the phone told me everything was covered because when I moved into my house, it was prewired with ADT. She told me because my house was already wired, all they would do was come in here and just rewire to that box. But the installer told me that all my windows wouldn't be covered. I didn't get a box. I didn't get a panel for upstairs. Those were the two main things. He told me that I also had to pay for some of my windows to get covered. We were at our daughter's place and I was setting up ADT for her. The place that she purchased had an older system, so I called the 800 number that was on that and it went to ADT's number. The rep was pleasant and very informative. Then, the installer who came out was Philip and he was excellent. He did everything he was supposed to do and walked us through every step. He explained everything and did everything perfectly. So far, my daughter loves her ADT system. It's really good, effective, and up-to-date compared to what they had in there which was really outdated.

The sales reps were really great. They gave me a low plan that my budget could handle because I'm on disability. They went from low to all the way up as high of all the things I could add. I got different options and the system is easy to operate. I really, really like my alarm system. I sleep better. Also, since it's an ADT, I know that they can't rip it off the wall.

A neighbor may have told me about ADT. I’ve heard the name and I know who they are. I called them and a gentleman came out. There were a few things that he didn’t do. We couldn't even find some of the things that were on the list of things that he did. Some of the things weren't necessarily important but the other things were necessary. The guy told me I didn't need those barricades on the door and I took them off. Then somebody broke in again while I was at church yesterday. The building they broke into is a big building connected to the house. It's locked but they still knew how to open the lock and go in. They stole a whole bunch of brand-new stuff worth $230 but it was no big deal. He couldn't take more because there wasn't anything left in the barn but my big tractor and a trailer, and they weren't able to. They probably didn't have a big enough truck to take my tractor away.
The alarm went off and the police came but they couldn't find out where somebody broke in because all the doors were still locked. They had a way of getting in but they can't anymore. I fixed that. Everything's gonna be fine. I just need somebody to send me a couple thousand dollars to make up for all the stuff that was stolen. I have insurance and I have a $500 deductible. I have three different things so that's $1,500 off of about $2,200 worth of stuff that was stolen altogether. So, it's not very beneficial.
The gentleman came out today who's a supervisor with ADT. He looked all around and said that the guy should have done this and that. So, he wants to put up cameras, which he said was the most important thing in this kind of a situation out in the country here. But I don't have Wi-Fi, so I called my supplier, Spectrum. I spent some time on the phone with them and I finally got Wi-Fi. I called ADT back again and left a message for that gentleman but I haven't heard from him again since. So, I left him a message and then told him that I now have Wi-Fi so I'm ready to have the camera installed. All they have to do is let me know when so I'll make sure I'm here. I haven't heard back from them. So, I probably will later. If not, before I leave later today, I'm gonna call again and tell them.
What ADT did originally was done by a contractor. The general who came today was a far up the ladder employee of ADT and he was a little disappointed with what the other guy did or didn't do. He apologized and everything's gonna be fine. I'm still alive and it's not like I'm an old guy. I'm not gonna be 89 till December. I have a maintenance business and I still work.

My husband and I went through ADT when we lived in Tennessee but then he ended up going with ADS instead. Now that I'm a widow, I chose ADT because they're nationally known and they're a great company. I called ADT on a day when they had $850 worth of free equipment. I went with them and worked with their tech David. He has to come back for my cameras though as I don't have my Wi-Fi set up yet. I got tested for COVID and told David that I was negative as he was around me before I got tested. He called me back yesterday to see how I was feeling. People don't do that anymore. I'm totally satisfied. ADT has a good alarm system and I would recommend them to anybody.

We've just signed up in less than a month. I'm really worried about the safety of my aunt. I'm here in LA and she's in San Francisco. She's 90 years old with dementia and Alzheimer's. The ADT system is not meant for people with memory problems or people getting old. So it didn’t work and it created a problem for her. One time, she accidentally was cleaning it and it just went off. Then the fire truck, the 911 and the police were all there. And she didn't even have the slightest clue of what was happening. I was at work and was stressed out about what was going on. She said that she didn't need this thing in her house and she wanted to throw it away.
The ADT system has good intentions for other people, but for other people, it might not work. I wanted to cancel but they were telling me that there was a binding contract. So I wanted to downgrade. The consequences were not properly explained. In three days time, I wanted to install that one before I leave my aunt for LA. Because of the pandemic, I usually just visit her every three months. So I thought that this would help but it was the opposite.

I had ADT years ago but I'm not satisfied with it. The rep said that he wasn't able to give me what I wanted and what I need that I feel would be safe for me. Everybody always says that the way the house is, it's the way it is. Instead of people trying to do it, they make excuses. I called because every other night, someone comes up my steps. It scares me so I said that I wanted the camera thing so I can see who it is because I am not gonna open my door. If I had the camera, then I knew that I will still have the in-home system but I need something where people don't think that I'm crazy.
The rep said that he couldn't do that because there was no electrical unit. I don't have a doorbell so I told him to give me the thing with the doorbell. He said he couldn't do it and called his boss, who said that he wasn't able to do it. So, I was gonna call today to cancel it. The rep gave me the information to go to Best Buy. He said that it has to be battery-powered. I said that if people are not able to get it right there, they don't fix it. They’ll just say no altogether. They also lied about when my first payment would be. I was supposed to talk to a supervisor, and he told me that I won't have a bill for 30 days. That didn't happen because they tried to charge my card two days later. And I got it declined. It kept declining because I wouldn't put any money on it. They just lied to us to get the service.

The installation of our ADT went fine. However, when the tech support recorded our email address, he had an incorrect letter in it. So, I wasn't getting the email to go ahead and log in. When he called, it took 20 minutes of him either being on hold or trying to get through to someone. Once he finally got through, then they were able to correct the email address. Then, I was able to get the email link that necessitated me going in and doing what I needed to do with it. The system of ADT is good.

The person who owned the home before me already had ADT set up. They are popular so I went with that. Also, when I set up my power, they were through a third-party so I got through to ADT and my internet service all in one call. One guy showed up originally but he didn’t have a certain device or equipment needed, so somebody else had to come out to assist.
The rep who came installed sensors for the doors and windows, and the video doorbell. For the first half, I was still at work, so I came home when he was finishing up. If the other person was there from the get-go, it would have cut down some of the time. But it went well. It just took a little longer than expected, which was a little over three hours. Also, he wore a mask. I wanted more service than just the basics. They upgraded the panel that we had on the inside also. It looks nice but I don't use it much. I like the convenience of the smartphone app. The rep set it up that it automatically puts it in Safe At Home mode at a certain time at night, and then it disarms it in the morning, so I wouldn’t have to worry about it.

I was specifically looking for ADT and it didn't dawn on me that there were different companies that contracted with them. On my initial call, I had some very specific questions that I wanted to ask. I spoke with a young lady, and I could tell that it was somewhat scripted and she wasn't able to answer my questions. She seemed bothered that I had questions that didn't fit into where she was going and I was very annoyed that she was trying to collect general contact information from me. I told her, "I'm not ready to give you information. I'm ready for you to answer questions that I have." Ultimately, I ended up speaking with a supervisor who was a little more helpful and was able to answer questions to get things set up.
I was also particularly frustrated with going through with the supervisor to discuss all the services I wanted and what I wanted equipment-wise in my home, only to have the technician get there and I have to start from scratch with him. Two guys ended up having to come out. The first guy was very pleasant and easy to talk to. Overall, he was a good guy. My issue was I wanted a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector and I had requested them through the phone call, but he didn't have those with him for installation. There's a disconnect between speaking with someone and expecting what I want service-wise, and then having a technician come out and having them sell me more things. That is problematic.
The first guy was supposed to come back to install those two particular things a couple of days later, but he did not come back. I ended up having to call in, and another technician came out. During that entire time, the alarm system didn't work. Partly because, as the second technician explained to me, what I opted for was to not have sensors on my front and back door, and the alarm couldn't effectively be armed if there were no door sensors. That's a very important fact that someone should share with you.
The entire experience has been frustrating. I've been meaning to call customer service about the experience in general because for one, I don't wanna pay for the time that my alarm was not working. I had the system for almost a week before the second technician came out. The motion detector that was installed didn't work either. It was a moot point, but then the second technician did come out and address all of the issues.

I had an email with some promo items. That is what made us call. And we got a new house, so we just thought it would be a good time to do everything. My husband wants to get it done. We had called one other place. But they didn't offer as much. However, once we got ADT out here, we found out that you pay for every little item. So, it maybe could have been equivalent. But at that point, they were already out here. It was kind of a pressure. We had to make a decision that night or we lost all these discounts. I just don't work that way. My husband probably does. But I'm one that I wanna think about it overnight. I thought when we called into ADT, once we paid our monthly bill each month, all our equipment was in there. I had no idea the equipment itself cost so much. So, if you're signing up for ADT, there are a lot of equipment costs too.
And then, the biggest thing was, for both appointments, they were three hours late. The first one, our appointment was supposed to be at 3:00, and they got here at 6:30. We were obviously home for the night, but we didn't eat then until they left at 10:00. Trying to help my son with homework at that point. And that one wasn't as big of a deal. But then, the next one, we were in the process of moving. I had to be with the movers over at our old home. My husband had to stay here. And then, it was still like hours. And then we had to leave at 3:00 but the tech was not done until 6:30. Also, we were short a sensor for the window and the installer has to come back out. Other than that, the system is working really good. I can figure it out, which is a good thing. We like it. There are not very many people around. But definitely, there are no worries at all.

The system is mediocre at this point because I have a problem and I can't figure it out. I can’t figure out how to work the equipment and it doesn’t address it in the quick book and I can’t find anything on what’s happening with the in-depth instructions. That’s a little discouraging. So now, I need to call them. On the packet, it says that if you're a customer under 90 days and have any questions, you need to look it up online. If after 90 days, you have a question, they gave an 800 number to call. That makes no sense to me. You would think that within 90 days, you should be able to call and ask whatever questions you want. I’m gonna call in because I'm not gonna set up an account online. So, I'm hoping that when I call them, I don't get charged for the call.
ADT was beyond aggressive on the phone, which I know, they're salespeople, but it's not necessarily the best approach. I tried to say no initially. I didn't want them to come out and they kept calling back. Each time they called back, the customer service person got more and more aggressive to the point where I finally said it was fine for them to come. I didn't like that at all but that's just the way it is. Even the guy that came to the house was semi-aggressive too because he wanted to sell me stuff and I wasn't willing to buy it. I haven't had ADT that long and it could be absolutely wonderful but they need to tone back a little bit on their sales.

I had two locations that I needed systems and ADT was a national company I could talk to. The sales agent was very pushy though. I got the system but I'm so frustrated because what they initially sold me was not what they presented to me when they came to my house. They said I was gonna get stuff to protect my doors and windows but it was very limited. They also mentioned a motion detector. So, they could say that and be very direct but they don't. They want to mislead you to believe that it will take care of all your doors and windows.
I'm not a very happy customer at the moment. In one of my systems, I got woken up the first day that it went live saying it has a low battery. There's no way to fix it yourself. You have to call somebody or they have to send you batteries. This is a brand-new system. Their batteries are supposed to be good for 10 years and it didn't even last two days. Seeing how one of them is brand new installed and the battery's not good, I'm hoping it's gonna improve and be better because I'm already locked in to a three-year agreement without being able to get out. They also said I would get a $100 gift card but they never gave me any information on that. I had to call back and find out how I was gonna get there. There was a lot of deceitful marketing.

My signing up experience has been really bad. Initially, I thought it was great. The clouds were parting and unicorns were coming out when I spoke to the initial person that got me signed up. He told me I would only have to pay for an installation fee which would be $100. He ran my credit then he said they'd give me a a Visa gift card. I told him everything I wanted. I was very specific. I told him about all the windows I had in my house, all the doors, and I wanted a camera in the back doorbell and the keypad. He said, “Okay, no problem.”
When the person came out, he said it was $3,200. I told him I needed to get back to my office and to pack it up. He continued to waste my time. He said, “Give me a second. Let me call my manager.” He came back and said they could do it for 1,200. I said, “You know what? It's not your fault. That sounds great. But when that somebody tells me that I'm paying $0, and I go from paying 0 to 1,200, that’s still not enough.” He said he could call his manager again and I told him I didn't wanna sit there and haggle with him.
We went back and forth and they finally said, “What can I do for you?” I said, “You can give it to me for what I was quoted.” They got it down to 0 but the problem was they also cut out some of the things that I was gonna get. They said that they just took away the cameras for the backyard but they took away the shatterproof for the windows. The doorbell was out. The keypad was out too because he said he couldn't do something with my lock. Basically, I was left with sensors on the doors and windows and that was officially it.
When I got back home, I realized this man has left me a 1975 keypad and that was not what was on my counter. When I had them at the house, he had everything on the countertop that they were going to use. What was on my countertop was an iPad-looking thing which everybody uses in 2020. They took advantage of me because I was leaving and decided to downgrade me even more. They gave me this crap keypad because they knew I wouldn't be here. They made some excuse. I said, “Give me the manager, the same one you called 50 times while you were here.” He said, “No problem. He'll call you.” The next two days, I didn't hear anything. I called back and the next person said they'd have a manager definitely call me. It has been a week now but no one has said a thing.
On top of them being in my house for five hours, he installed the thing wrong. The alarm went off at 3 o'clock in the morning because he didn't put on the sensor for the door downstairs. I thought somebody was coming into the back door. It turned out it was a sensor that fell off the door. That's the whole reason I went with ADT rather than the do-it-yourself thing because I figured if I did it myself, that would be more likely to happen. It turns out, he stayed there for three and a half hours and still couldn't put the thing on the door right. To top it off, I got a thing in the mail from ADT yesterday for the exact same offer that someone over the phone offered me.

ADT's pricing is confusing. Whoever called me the first time said that the installation would be completely free, that I wouldn't have to pay anything. Then when the installer arrived, he said a certain number of things are included, but not the entire installation. Ended up being about $1,200 in terms of the overall cost. So that was one thing. The second thing was that the installer did not tell me nor did they tell me over the phone when they booked the appointment for the installation that there would be an installation fee of $220. So in addition to the $1,200 that I paid, I was also charged the $220 fee. I talked to someone about that, and they said there was nothing they could do about it, said that I supposedly agreed to it on a recorded phone call of some sort.
I wasn't happy at all with the amount of charges that were incurred for the installation to protect my family. It's almost $1,500 when I was told it was going to be free, and then all I would have to worry about would be the monthly charges. The system seems to work fine as far as providing what is expected. When you open the door when it's armed, it goes off. It seems easy to use for the most part, but very expensive. I probably could have gotten a better deal. But the installation was fine. The installer did a thorough job. He got everything up, all the windows are protected, the door, the alarm system is up.

We should have gone over the contract before ADT installed. That’s something important. I didn't know that it would cost me $2,000 at that time, plus the $66. They need to discuss that exactly because what if I didn't have that and the installer had already put the equipment in? What if I didn’t have $2,000 in my bank account the next day? That's a lot of money to take out of somebody's account. I thought that would be an installment over two months. I went on here because I could afford it, and they reimbursed me some back. They had to reimburse me that because I'm on disability.
Other than that, the system is great. It has been working very well. It was for my protection. The camera works great and I feel safer. I got a keychain that if I'm outside, I can push a panic button. Coming in, that was mostly my problem. I live in an apartment building and coming in and out, there are always a bunch of fellows. They’re hanging around. You never know these days. So, the keychain is wonderful. I couldn't go without it. I will take the system with me when I buy my home at the end of this year and keep it for the rest of my life.

I had this company who did my property inspection. They had a thing called Porch and on that Porch services, they had a discount from ADT around 800 some dollars on the equipment. That was how I got in and they came and installed it for me. The rep was really good. They answered all my questions and that was how I set up the appointment.
The service was amazing when they installed the system. I was moving that day into this new house. The person named Chris came in and he introduced himself. I said I was gonna be a bit busy with the move and he said he just wanted take a couple of minutes. He asked me some questions and I gave him a tour of the house. I got busy with my stuff and he took care of everything. Towards the end, he made sure that I got the email with all the passwords. He showed me how to operate the lock system. It's very good overall from start to finish. However, one of shattered window sensors came off and I think my alarm is not activating. I didn't know what was the contact info that I could call.

On the phone, it was sold to me as a $99 out-of-pocket fee. But once they were at my house, it was a very, very expensive product. So it was misleading. I decided to go with ADT because of the name, and I felt confident rather than going with a lesser known company. They told me I had three days to cancel, and I called within three business days. But they wouldn't let me cancel after that. They told me Saturday counts as a business day according to them.
I had it worked out where I was calling them on the last day to see if it worked out. I was gonna ask for my Refund as per the contract but they wouldn't give me the refund. My overall experience was very poor because not only do they have this three-business-day plastered all over their website, they also have the six months, no cost if you're unhappy all over their website, and there's a lot of fine print in that. They're too reputable of a company to act in a deceitful way, which they did.

I did some of my own research online and found ADT. The sales rep was very helpful but it was a little weird at first. When you initially call, they would explain the offers. Then, the person that they transfer you to, maybe the supervisor, would say that they could get you better deals. It seemed like a middleman kinda thing. The installer was very professional, clean and a fun guy to carry a conversation whenever he was in my house. He was absolutely the better person that I could have gotten. The deadbolt that I got installed gets hung up on something and it always gives me an error unless I put pressure on the door whenever I have to lock it or unlock it but I was totally satisfied with ADT.

I talked to a junior-level person who wasn't able to give me the discounts that I wanted. I was called by a manager who pressured me with multiple phone calls, and almost lost the sale because he was pressuring me, and finally because he was trying to get me to put down $99 just to get a price on this. I thought it was a bait and switch. They told me that they were going put certain things into my home that didn't end up putting in there. I thought that he packaged it was telling me that I wasn't going to have to pay anything. But what he had put me into was something much more expensive. He was getting anything to get the installer and so I kinda knew that this was going to be the case just by the way that the call is going. It just really seemed shady. The only reason that I went through with the whole purchase was the actual consultant that came to my home, the installer.
The functionality of the equipment works great. There were limitations in terms of where the keypad could go and I didn't have an available outlet. I bought the stand so that the keypad is actually portable. Since having it, I have a higher sense of security. I’m satisfied because of the way that it turns out was good. But I really felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman to make it happen. I think that there are other people who could end up getting railroaded with a bad package. I’d tell them to be careful about what ADT is going to sell to them, but the system works.

I told the person that I got transferred and I didn’t call. Then that person transferred me again. I kept telling them that I got transferred from AT&T. Nobody seemed to know where I was being transferred from, which was very strange. I almost hung up a couple of times because they didn't even know what was going on but I stayed on the line.
The installation guy was cool but I was wondering if I could do this myself. We talked about where we were gonna put the camera in the backyard. We put it on one side so the camera was pointing at the yard from an angle. But I have string lights up and they were already up when we put the camera on. I realized at nighttime or even during the day, it's hard to see from that camera angle, because the string lights interfere with the position, especially if they're on. I wanted to move it more towards the middle of the yard, where it's just pointing at the yard in general. Also, he left a long amount of cord but it wasn't connected to anything. So I realized that he probably cut that off and then forgot to pick that part up.

I was trying to put a security system up where I had cameras in my house alarm because there have been some car break-ins in our neighborhood. However, I regret buying ADT. It doesn't record like it's supposed to. Instead of being colored during the day, they go black. And if somebody walked in front of the cameras, it takes anywhere from two to five minutes for us to actually be able to see it. We don't get a notification for two to five minutes. ADT sent some guy out, he came out, looked at it, played with it, and the day he was there, he had it where it was coming in about one to two minutes. But then, by the time he left, it was still back to the three to five minutes before we got a notification.
It took days for a tech to come out, so we would like ADT to make sure that we got a tech that comes out a little sooner. And let people know that there is a three to five-minute delay, because had I known that, I would have not invested in ADT. I would have gone somewhere else because my neighbor has a different company, and his doesn't take two to three minutes to five minutes to notify him. It happens right away.
I'm stuck with a system that’s a piece of crap. I can discontinue the service and the rep said I have to pay 75% or 90% of the three-year contract, and I have to keep the equipment that I paid for. I spoke to ADT last Monday and told them I wasn’t happy. The rep said it would take about four days to get a tech out there. And if we wanted to cancel, we had until midnight to fax them paperwork we wanted to cancel. But I didn’t wanna cancel because I wanted the tech to come out and look at it. But I should've just canceled. We only had them in Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I called Saturday, and then by Sunday, I was like, “Forget this.” So, she told us that she could have a tech out, and then we could cancel, but we only had until midnight last Monday, which was three days after we had the alarm system installed in. As soon as my contract is up, I'll get a different installation put in.

I'm very satisfied with the features in the package but the whole point of me having ADT was because I had a domestic violence case going on. My abuser just got out of jail and he was showing up to my house. I have a 10-year restraining order against him and recently, I hit the police button. ADT was supposed to call me and ask if they need to send the police. I told the operator that I needed assistance but she didn't call out anybody. I had to call back and find out why it was taking forever for the cops to get here.
The lady was trying to assist me as much as she could but she said that when she was trying to dispatch the police, it wasn't going through. So, I had to hang up on her and call 911. It literally took me three calls in order to get the police here. My abuser could have come in the house and something could have happened. I have my kids here. We could have caught him down the street if that lady would have called the cops the first time. I was supposed to call back and find out if ADT can compensate me for that, because that's my life.

The sales rep didn’t tell us that on the telephone. So, we were thinking the whole time that the camera went with the package.
The reps who came were both nice and didn’t leave a mess. Everything was hooked up professionally and we talked through everything. We came from an apartment and now, we have stairs and got more room, so we’re still a little shaky. But we feel more confident just knowing that if somebody comes in, we’ll know. It can speak up to us. We’ll feel more uncomfortable if we didn’t have it. We wish we could’ve gotten more equipment but it’s a little pricey. We’re happy to have ADT and we look forward once we get more established to bear the upgrade in the future and get more equipment.

ADT is the worst. First off, whoever does the orders to start the service, they don't tell you exactly what you're getting and how you getting it. I was under the perception that I'm getting a video camera. I didn't know I had to purchase my own video camera or pay for it. They said first off that I was getting the video camera, the hand thing, when you come in and you turn the alarm off, and the sensors for the door. I was getting that for $27 a month. If I wanted to upgrade it and get more sensors, I could do that. I could have got it but not at $27 per month. It was not a good experience because that was false advertising. If you tell me one thing and then say another, I am totally disappointed. They also told me that the salesman will have my $100 gift card when he get here. But that was false too.
Second off, I paid 200 and something to be put down. I asked the rep if it was going towards the first month bill. She said, "Yes. That goes towards the first month bill and that's like your down payment for your security system." But it did not go towards my first month bill. Because two days after I got the system, they charged me about $30 for my bill. The lady was very nasty and said, "Yes. We charged you a month in advance." If I didn't need ADT or as soon as I find a better alarm system to go with, I'm leaving them. Their customer service is rude. The customer service rep disconnect me and hung up on me. The training that they give these people is not up to par. Because what they're selling me over the phone is not what we getting in person. I am pretty much dissatisfied. On top of that, my 13-year-old son reconnected the equipment and fixed it because the guy that did the installation did something wrong. It was horrible.

I had the CenturyLink system so I had the smart home set-up and they were getting out of the eye control. I was told that I wouldn't have use of my thermostat. Where my thermostat is located, it's hard for me to reach. That was part of the reason for getting the smart home. On December, that was gonna all go away that's why I responded to an ad from ADT. I had a good interaction with the sales representative, Josh. He told me about everything. He even promised me two additional things that I really wasn't looking for.
Josh was great. The only thing he did not tell me was that I would have to pay almost $600. I was under the impression that everything was free. They said, "We can just switch out Brinks and put you on ADT, and we can take care of finishing up the next time." When they showed up, before I even proceeded, I was told I needed to cough up $600 if I wanted it. They also had to put all the stuff in which took almost three hours and I thought I only had about a half an hour at best. The gentleman that came to put the stuff in was good. He was even willing to put on a face shield. When he came back with the lifeline, he was wearing the face shield. But I was upset because he was saying he couldn't leave until everything was installed. I really was not comfortable with him being in my house that long. I actually took my Lysol after he left and wiped down everything. I am that afraid of this virus because I know my immune system.
The main thing I was after was getting the emergency alert and the thermostat. I didn't even get the emergency alert. I had to pay extra for that. I talked to one lady and she made some adjustments. I'm waiting for my account to be corrected. I'm gonna raise hell if I don't see it soon. I wasn't even told about the $100 gift certificate and I have not been able to get this certificate offline to give to my insurance company. So hopefully, the equipment will work and it will do what I need it to do with the heating and if I need the emergency alert thing.
I was upset because of what I was told, the change of things, having to put $600 and to pay it upfront. Luckily, I had the money 'cause I just got paid my retirement. Otherwise, I would've been up the creek. A lot of seniors would scarf up the safe home thing like I did. But if they have the experience like I had, they'd walk away. When I called up to cancel my service with CenturyLink, I had the same lady when I signed up for it. I was able to say, "Thank you for your help." We had that kind of relationship. Right now, I don't have that with ADT. They should make a change in their office so the right hand knows what the left hand is doing and it's one complete picture instead of saying, "Everything's free. We got $800 worth of stuff," and then you need to pay for installation that's $600. You can't tell people one thing and then do another.

The installation crew was good and I like the new touch keypad. But I had to have somebody come back and go over the camera thing with me. I had a problem in the beginning. I kept getting on my phone, “Battery low.” I had them sent another guy out within two days and he came and explained to me that the doorbell takes three days to charge up. I wound up having to take it off and we had to charge it.
Maybe ADT can send their doorbell camera charged up. If you know somebody who’s getting a doorbell camera, then those servicemen should have something when they first get in here to charge that doorbell up. Because why put in something and it’s not even gonna work properly when you put it in. Also, I had to find an old charger that would charge it. They need to tell people you need to have a specific cord to charge it. That's crazy. They don't even tell people this. It may happen but it shouldn't happen. It all sounded pretty good so we went moved forward from there. Over the phone, the experience was really great. They tacked on some extra perks which was really nice since it was our first time buying a home. During the installation, Morgan was awesome. She went through everything with us and made us feel really comfortable. She took a lot of time to make sure that we had all the things in the right place.
We’ve already told a couple neighbors about ADT. We're pretty happy. I do wish is that it was a little more upfront about the pricing. We were looking into doing cameras and wasn't aware that they gave us the first camera free but it was gonna be 299 to install. That would have been good information to know upfront. ADT is a national name. It's one of the names that kinda stuck in my mind over the years. Their customer service was a little bit confusing to me because they told me some things that didn't really make a lot of sense. When I went to talk to the installer, he made it make more sense to me. He told me things that they didn't and vice versa. I was a little disappointed in that aspect of it. When the customer service talks about the equipment, they should talk about price points on each piece of equipment that they're talking about. When they say $800 worth of free equipment or even $1,490 worth of free equipment, it doesn't really add up to a lot of equipment. The items are very expensive, which I really wasn't aware of. That was the one thing that the installer was able to explain to me. Each piece was this much as opposed to not knowing in advance.
People should do a comparison with their competitors. We had Vector Security for several years, and they weren't giving anything away for free and they were very strict on their policies. One thing that kinda led me away from them is that they're not a national name, but they weren't willing to give up on anything even when I told them I was leaving.

Our salesman was a hassle, but the guy that came on to fix everything was great. The salesman completely screwed the thing up and put the wrong doorbell in. My house is too old. So he knew that the doorbell wouldn't work. We couldn't turn it on because of not enough power. A guy, Monty, came out and said, "Hey, salesman took advantage of you. He should have put another camera up and left your Ring doorbell up ‘cause that works great." He fixed it and put another camera on the garage.
The salesman didn’t give us a contract to give on our insurance company. I had to call and follow up on that. So far, other than ADT's customer service section who I had to call twice, they've been great. My wife was baking cookies and she sent the salesman home with a bag of fresh baked cookies, and he still took advantage of us. His name is Tim. I'm not happy with him. He was in a hurry to get the hell out of here because he did a half-assed job.
He struggled with the doorbell and couldn't get it to work. He said, "I think it's driving the voltage." But the voltage meter was wagging. I said, "This ain't gonna work." But we tried it. As soon as he left, the battery died. It would charge the ADT doorbell but didn't have enough volts to drive it. So we called, we had to wait a week, they came out and fixed it. The salesman was the worst part of the whole experience. After that, it’s been great. I had to call customer service twice, and they've been wonderful, very helpful and were making sure things got set up.
We told the salesman we want a specific password. He misspelled it. He didn't check to make sure it was spelled right. He misspelled it so we had a hell of a time getting in the first time because. We got it fixed. The system's working great. The cameras on the garage all work. I got one on the backyard, and that's working great. The Ring doorbell was fine. The system seems to be working and doing what it's supposed to do. It's going like it's supposed to go, so we're happy.

When I signed up, they asked a bunch of questions about what I needed. The ADT sales rep that showed up at the house explained exactly what was gonna happen in the prices and that's what they said over the phone. The installers explained everything, including letting me pick out what I needed for my house because there were things that I didn't need, like the window sensors. I had but one window sensor just so I could get the outside cameras and they broke it all down to the pricing and how much it would cost a month. They also told me to let them know if I have to leave the house and they will come and install the same cameras in the new house at no charge.
The guy gave me the phone number to his supervisor, so if I needed any assistance, I can call directly instead of having to call in the hotline. He also helped my sister install the alarm system on her phone. They were really nice guys. Very professional. I would recommend them to anybody. It took us a little while because our internet wasn't working. They let me call the internet company and get the internet speed up and going before they put up the cameras so they wouldn't have to come back. They stayed a long time at the house just to make sure we got everything taken care of and I truly appreciated that.

I heard ADT was one of the best at the time, and then I just got tired of dealing with the company I was already with, so I let them go. ADT's features are better and much more than what I was offered from the company I was with. And then, their rep was good. I liked him. He showed me how to work the system. I like the system better because I'm able to do a lot of stuff on my phone when I'm not at home, like lock and unlock my doors, and they gave me a remote, whereas the other company, I didn't have any of that.

I got ADT for safety measures because I'm going through a real bad divorce. The first rep was was okay. The second one was a little bit better. But the third rep really helped me out a lot. The installer was great. He made sure that everything was up and running. He walked me through the system and showed me where he was gonna put everything. He made sure I knew how to run my system and I knew what I was doing with everything. I love my cameras, the alarms on the windows and on the doors, and my alarm outside. If somebody was breaking in, there's a little red or green thing outside. It alerts on my outside too.
