I heard about ADT from my mother who has had their service since I was growing up. I went with them as well and the salesperson I worked with knew what he was talking about. The installer who came thereafter did what he was supposed to do. So far, the system I got has been good. It has done its job.

I had a security system prior. I got something in the mail with ADT and I liked the features and it was newer than the system that I had. So, I decided to switch. The sales rep was knowledgeable and he pointed me in the right direction. We decided to choose the system that works well for me. Right now, everything is well.

I had ADT and I was going to get rid of it, but the sales rep talked me into it over the phone. He was very knowledgeable, knew what he was talking about and told me exactly what I was going to be getting. A very nice guy did the installation. He went around and checked everything. He also gave me few extra batteries just in case -- the batteries are expensive to buy. I like the system and it does a nice job. I like the doorbell cameras. I like to be able to see who is out there and scare the heck out of somebody when I can get to talk to them. I also use the smartphone app. Overall, ADT is working out fine. I wish it was a little bit cheaper though. When you get retired and you don't have the money, you have to save anything.

I chose ADT because of name recognition and when I reached out to get the service, they came out the next day. The technician was a nice guy but he was not knowledgeable. He couldn't answer questions. The system is good but I wish it was more compatible with other things like smart home technology. There are only a few doorbell ringers it’s compatible with.

My home has been in this neighborhood for close to 100 years. I was literally born in this home. I'll be 66 this year. We could be with our doors open. And just within the past, maybe a bit before I put the system on, like, two weeks prior to that, we saw a lot of activity going on from 12:15 to about 2:30 in the morning. And of course, we would go out. The next door neighbors would go out. The front door neighbors would go out, just to let them know that we're watching them. But the thing is that I told my husband, "We go outside, we don't know they're gonna have a gun, they're gonna shoot us."
I just finished calling the officers right now. And I said, "There's two guys walking down the street. There's a lot of activity going on. They're passing by with compressors or weed eaters." So, one is looking on one side, the other one is looking at the other side. And they're hoping to see what they will hit or when they will hit or what they will do. It just doesn't feel good. That is when I said, "That's it."
I noticed a couple of things missing. The side from the front and the front from the front towards where the house again are wide open. I have privacy fence all the way to the back. And then on the other side, my nextdoor neighbor has a chainlink. So, I've never felt like I needed a fence because I could be sitting here with my doors open. I felt safe. But now, I don't. So, every time I left the house, I was worried.
My daughter was telling me, "Why don't you do the cameras, mom, like that you can take a pic?" I said, "Well, I can barely afford this." She said, "Mom, they have specials. Just call them. Maybe they can help you to set you up with a camera." Because it so happened that my front door neighbor, somebody passed. There's a lot of activity going on that we never had before. They broke her window from the passenger side and the passenger side window and the mirror. They passed by, and they hit it with a BB gun. I said, "If I had a camera, we would have gotten the vehicle and everything." This is all new to me. I'm not used to this. We always had little things happen, but we all keep an eye on each other. If anything, I would have to buy a camera and install Brinks or whatever that you just put them on yourself and be on the phone and look at what is going on.
I was sitting outside and I kept seeing people passing by and then you could tell they're on all those drugs and stuff. So, I said no. That's when I saw Protect My Home's Ad on Facebook and I called. I know they're top-of-the-line. And then, it so happened that it was perfect timing because there was a special because of COVID. It was godsent. I'm really satisfied with the gentleman's explanation who came with the installing. It took me a bit to get to understand it, but I'm almost where I need to be as far as disarming, arming, and staying. Customer service have been very patient and very detailed. So, I really appreciate that.
The only thing that happened was, a couple of days ago, I was trying to get something from the top of the refrigerator. We're seniors, and my hands are weak. I have a fractured rib that has been a permanent thing. So, when I was going to grab that thing, it fell, and the little casing fell off, and the alarm went off. Of course, I came and disarmed it right away, and I called in. They were able to walk me except that I said, "You know what, I don't know if this is gonna work. I have to get up the ladder to climb to take off the battery, restart it. And then I didn't know how to put the lid back on." I have to go up and down the ladder because the alarm would go off. But we've been it long time. I live in Bath. As far as customer service, right away. I'm very satisfied with everything except that.
My daughters all have the systems as well. I said, it's not something that we can really afford but it's something that I feel that we need. It's more a necessity than a luxury because of the situation that's going on right now. Even though we're all neighbors, but sometimes some of us wanna travel and I go to the store and we go and work, like, "Okay, is somebody going to break in?" The system gives me peace of mind.

I’ve had ADT for years. I’ve had a couple issues and they have taken care of them. The sensor was not working properly and they came out and replaced the battery. Just the other day, we added the camera to the system and the gentleman came out and did a nice job getting the camera installed and set up for us. The only thing I wish is they have a newer model of the control panel and the newer camera works off of Wi-Fi instead of off of RF signals, and I’d like to get that free. But other than that, everything seems to be fine. All of the sensors are wireless so they don’t have to run wires or do anything. The actual system itself is pretty easy to arm and disarm.

The installation went great. The gentleman by the name of Omar was a really good guy. The sales representatives I talked to when I first called told me that I would be able to get cameras and with everything that I wanted for the whole house for 850 bucks. When the tech came in, he said that was gonna be about three grand. I said that that was not what I was told. All I have is the control box itself and seven window breaks for if the window opens. I was lied to and didn’t get what I was told that I was going to get for 850 bucks. They need to do what they say they’re going to do, instead of lying about it. I needed a doorbell and cameras placed around the house. Also, not all the windows are secured with the ADT system. Other than that, the ADT stuff that I got works.

The previous owner of the home that I own now had ADT and a few of my family members have ADT and suggested it. So I looked into it and ended up getting their system. When I was working with the guy who came to install it, he was able to work with me on what I wanted and it didn't seem to be a big issue in any way. He was really making sure that the things I wanted and what he thought as far as protection-wise is what would work best for the situation for the house. He did what he needed to do and I was able to focus on my work.

The ADT rep I spoke with on the phone was pleasant, easy to deal with, and she gave us all the information we needed. My daughter has one. And I’m used to being a contractor, and so I’m used to seeing ADT throughout. When the guy came, he explained it to us too, what was that quote again. The only thing we didn't get was a sign for our yard. He forgot to leave one but he left us the stickers. He went through the system and showed us how it all worked. He explained to us what we needed to know, what we could use, what we couldn't. We have a big dog, so he recommended no motion detectors.

I didn’t like the customer service. I was fooled into being with ADT for three years. I paid the three years because I didn’t wanna get sued for that bullcrap that they did to me. When I got the coupon in the mail for this service for 27.99 and I got my first bill which was 100 and something dollars, I wound up paying almost $60 a month for three years. They told me I didn’t do that. Even the technician that came to my house told me that it was what I would be getting and that I would be paying 27.99 a month. I still didn’t get my $100 gift card. They are deceptive.

My mom is with the company. After going through everything I just went through and with the money that I spent, I wish I wouldn’t have gone with ADT because I feel like customer service is everything, and I don’t feel like I made the best choice for myself. The sales representative explained everything. It was just more of the installation where I had problems with and people were not showing up for the appointment. They kept on rescheduling it out and they canceled on me three times. The whole package deal could have been improved. I felt like it was a laugh from the beginning because I moved into my home when I received through the mail saying I could get $800 package deal, and when ADT came out, it came up to $1,900. It was like a fraudulent advertisement.

Hopefully, my dogs will be safe. The reason I wanted the system and this all started was for the fire. The call goes on right to the police station and having the animals, I want them saved. That’s my number one priority. It’s always been something nagging me in the back of my mind. I tell all the neighbors to break the windows and that I don’t care what they would have to do but to get the animals out. That’s all I care about. As long as the dogs are out, I don’t care about the house. Everything else is replaceable. I initially filled out the questionnaire thing and I called the company then I set up the appointment. They came here and talked with the installer guy. But I asked them to hold on and I got the answers to my questions before we did anything.
The installation also went well. We went through the different options and what would work best, what I wanted and what I didn't. I had to change it up for the dogs, as far as the motion cameras although I really wish to have the camera inside the home. In case the alarm does go off, I can see it. But it's just wishful thinking. Having bigger dogs, I understand why. I think it's almost impossible but the technology keeps getting better. There may be a way someday. For this installation, we went with a glass break instead. The guy installed the system and was on his way. It was easy to set up everything. The biggest thing is to remember when you're coming in the door. Yesterday, I left my phone in the car and the system started beeping. I ran back to my car, grabbed the phone and disarmed the system, and it was fine.

I liked how ADT is a well known company and that they are widespread throughout the United States. Plus, their plan sounded like a good plan for money. Their plan got to be more expensive as their reps came over though. Still, the reps were both very professional. The experienced tech they sent was very helpful. I got lots of extra benefits such as being able to use their remote. ADT has provided excellent customer service thus far.

Previously, we had ADT and our house was already configured to their security system. I went with Spectrum but when they declined to provide service, we went back to ADT. I wasn't comfortable with some of the things that the sales rep whom I worked with was trying to get us to buy. He kept saying that we needed to replace certain things. That didn't make sense so I wasn't too pleased. Plus, when they installed our system, we could not hear the chime throughout the house when someone opened doors or windows. Someone had to try to come back and fix that. While the system is better than it was, it's still not programmed properly.

ADT promised so many things that they did not complete. When I talk to their reps on the phone, they explain things and promise this and that. When they send my order in to the guy who is gonna install my service, things were totally different. The tech came and he installed little things in my doors. But then he didn't have the right equipment. When I talked to him, I got a feeling that he didn't know much. He only does whatever his training was and only follows instructions. He did his best but he didn't have experience. Now, my doors are still making noise improperly so I need to call him back.
I came to pay double the price that they promised. I asked their rep how we were gonna do my payment. He didn't care and just did whatever he wanted. I told him I don't want them putting my money somewhere every month without telling me. I'm paying too much for the service. Still, ADT's service is fine. The issue is not with the company but the subcontractors that they have. If I recommend them, I would tell others to make sure of what they're signing.

I had ADT at my previous location. This time, I got it again and the installation went okay although there were some programming and some delays in getting it set up. It’s just with compatibility or something in terms of the existing system in the home and the system that was being put in. It wasn’t from scratch kinda situation. It was just come in and dump all of ADT stuff in there. It was adapting it with other existing technology and elements.
We’ve had security systems before so all elements are pretty much the same. This is the first time we’ve had the door camera. That would be the thing that’s different and most helpful at this point. With the app, we’re probably sub-optimizing it at this point. But if someone comes to the door, we can see them and talk to them.

I used ADT years ago and I just called them back. I love the service and it is good. For one thing, they respond when my alarms goes off, which is not always the case with others. They also call immediately. The cost was pretty fair. I feel great with ADT, overall.

I got the system of ADT because we’ve had a lot of attempts of break-ins in my neighbors’ houses. What was going on was that whenever they have the police come, they don’t wanna file a report. They won’t do it. So, I figured if I get the ADT system, then that’s gonna send an alert to the police station. They're gonna have to come out and they're gonna have to take a report. Everybody’s been great at ADT. The installation was nice. The gentleman was very nice, polite and very pleasant to talk to. He explained everything as he went through doing everything step-by-step. It was a really great experience.
However, the way they have the system set up, they would have to crack the door before the system goes off. I have my own detectors, monitors that I put on my doors and my windows. What I did was I moved one, about a half-inch behind the one that I placed on the door. ‘Cause we got two. We got one that has the battery in it, then we had the other one that’s supposed to line up with it. The reason why I set it back a half-inch, not a whole half-inch, was that if that door moves, that system goes off.
It’s not sensitive enough. It’s supposed to be penetration, but the penetration that ADT has set on people’s houses, we don’t have time to get to that room with our gun. That person is in the house. If he raises the window up, breaks the window frame, he’s gonna be in there by the time I get there. They need to move that monitor back, move the bottom one forward so that as soon as that door starts coming open a half-inch, that system goes off. They need to move it forward instead of waiting on the person to get into the house versus just alert us as soon as they're attempting to get in the house. I wouldn’t recommend ADT. If they can make that adjustment on my sensors, I’d be very happy ‘cause that’s my only problem.

With every little thing that happens, ADT contacts me right away and the police is here right away. Their reps work great with me. Right now, I’m not working and I talked to them about how I can stay with ADT. My contract was over this month and they gave me a good price. When the guy put in the system, he gave me a controller. I love it. I go to work early and my door in the house is on the side, not in the front. If anything happens, I know I can press the button. My son got ADT for his business and his house. He always kept it and me, “Don’t jump to another company because you know what you have.”

ADT sent someone to my house to talk to me. They showed me all of my options and installed everything. Since then, the best part has been when their team guesses that my alarm has gone off because of something I've done. They don't automatically call the police. For instance, when I put air conditioners in, I had to move one of their sensors. I set the alarm, went to bed and was fast asleep. I did not even hear it go off nor did I have my phone with me. They tried to call but they never sent the police for that. Plus, ADT's price has been reasonable at 52-something a month. They raised it one time and I called them. Then, the reps moved my price back down to where it was at on my original plan which was the same amount I've been paying for three years. I feel really secure in having ADT.

Our ADT system has been working pretty well. In the afternoon we take the dogs for a little ride around town. We have an RV and we used to take off for five days in the weekends. That’s one reason we wanted the ADT, so we could put the alarm on our house and be gone and not have to worry about it. If the alarm did go off, my neighbors would hear it and they had keys if it was a false alarm. We’ve got the wires connected to electricals to all the windows. If somebody opens one of the windows, the alarm goes off. If the back door gets opened, the alarm will go off. If somebody is walking up to the patio in the back, the alarm will go off ‘cause there’s an eye out in the front and there’s also one in the back.
We upgraded and put this camera. It’s an alarm on our front door. We get the app on our phone and it’s called Ring. We'll hear ding-aling-aling, like a high, shrill wave. We look at our phone and we see somebody walking up to the front door. Sometimes, they’re just bringing us mail or a package, or it might be one of my kids dropping off something.

However, we covered it up with some furniture and it was fine. I had an issue interacting with my device. I called the young man who did the installation and he talked me through it. I said, "Duh, I should have been able to figure that one out." We got it taken care of and haven't had a problem since.

ADT was inaccurate. It didn't say that it was the wireless service. That was what the technician was telling me that the price was based on a landline which wasn't the wireless service. But ADT has the quickest response time and I talked with the technician over the phone. Ackerman has one facility in Georgia and ADT has eight facilities in Georgia. There's no comparison with the customer service between these two companies. You can't even get a hold of Ackerman's customer service representative. It's pretty much impossible.
I knew ADT was gonna be a little bit more expensive, but last year, Ackerman updated something with their system, and they double debited my account twice, a month from each other. I called them up and I told them that I wanted to go to manual billing, then they still have me on automatic debit. I ended up having to cancel that card and just go to manual billing. Also, I couldn't talk to anybody. With ADT, you call on the phone and you can pretty much get someone in under 10 minutes.

They took over the AT&T accounts and when a tech came, he said they couldn’t use any of the equipment that was already here. It was all wasted and I had to buy all new stuff. I feel like somehow they could use the cameras here and it’s frustrating. It’d be nice to use some mounted cameras that are already hardwired all through. Still, my salesman and the installer were great. Installation took a couple hours. So, a different technician came out once we were able to make the decision a little bit later that day. My husband ended up being in the house during that. The technician did a fairly basic, like how to work the system. But because I wasn’t there and my husband wasn’t able to communicate, I called the manager in the area and asked if he could come out. We had an issue with one of the sensors. It was a little far from our modem. He came out and explained the whole system. He answered any questions we had so it was very well done. I chose ADT based on their reputation in the marketplace and although there is definitely a handful of things that I wish the system did, at least it does what it's supposed to do. I also got a good education while the salesperson was here. Austin was the one who came to our house and he was great. I had a good experience over the phone as well. But they were a bit limited in what they could tell me and questions they could answer. I understand part of that is by design. Until someone gets to my house, they can't really know exactly what I'm gonna need. I've had a great experience but I have to imagine there's a way to get more information over the phone before the salesperson comes out to the house. That could have been helpful. I would have been more prepared.
After the salesperson walked into my house and told me all the stuff that he recommended, my jaw hit the floor when he told me how much it was gonna cost. It was a total surprise. I was not at all expecting that based on the phone conversation I had. They told me they're gonna give me all these hundreds of dollars’ worth of credit to equipment. They didn't tell me that every single little device cost hundreds of dollars. That could have been a little more transparent. I understand why they might not wanna do that. They would wait until the sales rep in the house can actually show all the benefits and everything of what everything does. But while they were here, my wife and I had to go off and have a little financial meeting to see if this was gonna make sense at all. It very closely could have resulted into the salesperson wasting three hours of his time.

I wanted a live stream on my phone with cameras or something I could access. When I'm not home, I make sure everything's safe. I called and I instantly explained to the first person why I was calling. I have a creepy neighbor and he’s been talked to about stalking. I need more security. The guy said that they had an $850 promotion going on. I tried to get it done as quickly as possible. The day they had available wasn't working so he put me on the phone with a manager, and the manager was great. I told him my situation that I was mostly interested in cameras and he said that he'd put a credit on my account for equipment for $1100. However, when the tech came out on a Saturday, he went over the $850 promotion, which I figured may not include cameras. He also said that the credit doesn't even include any camera kind of purchase.
That Thursday before, I called to make sure I had everything on my end squared away and I understood things. I double-checked when I had called that the 27.99 a month included the live stream on the phone. The tech said no, and that instantly puts it at the 59.99. I should have never been told that. So, it wasn’t the best, to be quite honest. But we worked everything out. The tech ended up calling his manager. He was able to use the credit towards the cameras because I wanted to get more cameras and more smoke detectors and stuff. Also, my house is an older home so it was not easy to set up because I don't have vinyl, so they couldn't put the wiring under my house’s wood. Luckily, it's white and it was worked out.
It was just miscommunication. I felt like the people I talked to on the phone really said to me a whole bunch of stuff and then the tech kinda got stuck in a moment where he was like, “Oh my gosh, what?” So, he did everything he could. But I wasn't expecting the 59 a month. It was, from what I understood, 27.99. And just from the very beginning, I was very clear about my main goal is cameras. If I would have known prior, I might have rethought it. Everything else is great. It's something I want but that's like the extra. The cameras were the main thing. Everybody was super-friendly.

The ADT sales rep was excellent. He explained everything and was very helpful. The installation was great. The installer was very awesome and I will recommend him to anybody. It's just me and Kelvin here. The neighborhood that we stay in is not all that bad, but it's not all that great either. We sleep better at night knowing that if somebody tries to come in that the alarm would go off and send help in case we can't make it to our phone in time. I was told my cousins about ADT and they're gonna sign up.

My sister had ADT. I have it too and it's probably been two years. The installation was good and there were no issues. I like the security. I like the fact that if anything happens, I get a phone call telling me something. It’s showing up something and it could tell me exactly where. I really like the phone app too. It's pretty easy to use. The system is fine but it's not activated. I have renovations being done and I had water damage. Until that is finished, they’re not gonna reach out back to ADT and have them come back in.

Below is the complaint I put in to ADT: There has been dishonesty and horrible customer service since the start of having your service. The initial technician misstated the capabilities of the cameras that were installed which were a big factor in me signing with you guys. He came on many occasions; a few times that weren’t registered with the company because he told me to text him personally if I had any issues which I learned after was against company policy.
I wanted to return the camera for the living room and get a credit for what I paid for it because it didn’t constantly record (which is what the technician told me it did) they said they can’t give me a credit on the camera because I got a package promotional deal however on the initial pricing layout (that he showed me before I signed the contract) the camera had a cost next to it of $299.99. I wasn’t happy that the technician mislead me and wanted to cancel my contract because I wasn’t satisfied however that’s when they told me the money back guarantee was only if adt couldnt “have their own equipment working properly” and said it would cost me over $1000 to cancel the contract. This was one of the most horrible experiences that I’ve had with a company and was lied to throughout the whole process.
For a majority is the time customer service has been rude, unhelpful and ill informed. I always hear something different from each representative. The most recent example was today when I had called to get a service call fee waived. I wanted it waived because the initial technician didn’t install a sensor on a window that he was supposed to and put a sensor in a bad spot on my sliding door which broke off after I would open the door a certain distance. The First Lady that I Called to set up the appointment to fix these issues said waiving the fee would be no problem and that the technician would have to waive it.
Once the technician finished his work he said he couldn’t waive the fee and I would have to call customer service. When I called customer service today they said that she asked who told me that it could be waived because these service fees cannot be waived and are a co-pay for everytime a technician comes out even if the equipment is faulty which is not what I was initially told; I was told they maintain the equipment for free. She said she would waive it as a one time courtesy. I’ve been lied to from the start and signed a contract for three years based on those lies. In addition I’ve had horrible customer service and am going to continue to post negative reviews and tell people my horrible experience with your company.

I'm not very happy though that when my alarm would set off, I won't get a call from anybody. My house is not safer than it was when I had SimpliSafe. I just got ADT within the last month. I called them and they said they were gonna call me back, and they never called me back. The customer service isn't good enough to be able to follow up with me. It's unacceptable. I found ADT on the mail flyer that went out and when I spoke with their rep, she said they were part of ADT South, which was why there was a difference in pricing. She said they were giving $1,800 in free credits and that we got the USAA discount which was 10%. They gave us 10% off of the products but not 10% off of the monthly bill like ADT directly does. So, it’s only $5 a month. It’s still $180 the life of our contract. We were supposed to be spending $1,000 in putting the equipment in with regular ADT and it would’ve been the exact same price if we would’ve kept it with ADT direct. We had actually set up to go directly with them and they were supposed to come out last week. I wouldn’t recommend the person I spoke with again because a lot of stuff was very deceiving after I had time to think about it. Once our 36-month contract is done, I’m gonna call ADT directly and just work through them.

I got a thing in the mail from Protect Your Home for my father and I pursued that for myself. I found it to be okay but the customer service experience was awful. The girl hollered at me on the phone. She was talking over me and wasn't trying to hear what I had to say. She wouldn’t let me vent. The offer did say a free camera. However, when they came out, it wasn't a free camera after all and I had to pay $299. They gave me a credit for that but I ended up having to pay $84 for the camera. Overall, the cost is very okay. It’s 53.99 a month so you can't beat that. I have Vivint and my neighbor told me her car has been broken in five times so, I feel good about the decision I made.
Zach, the young guy who came the first time didn't put things back where he got them from. It was a mess and when I went downstairs, the blinds were still up. He left and didn't give me my sign. I had to call in to get it. There was something else he did and I didn't like him. Then, this other gentleman came and installed my camera and made sure everything was done. He made sure I got my sign and he brought me a sign too. So, I ended up with three signs. He told me what he was doing. Zach did his job and he upgraded me also and then, I upgraded again. I got the doorbell camera. I was told that it would be recording people walking up to your door. But people literally have to press the doorbell in order for it to work. It’s not a good thing because I've been watching the news and they showed people stealing their packages on the door. Mine didn't even record anything.
I come up to my door every day but there's no recording of it. So, I wonder why that is. I would like to see me coming. I know I can't see around that corner but when I get in front of the camera, I would like to see somebody is at the door. But the other day, I know this gentleman came to my door and he stuck his head and peeked. Then, he rang the doorbell but I couldn't even talk to him while he was at my door. He put the mail on my door and covered up my camera. If I had been able to talk to him, I might have been able to tell him not to do that and to move out of the way. I wasn't able to do that because the talk button didn't work properly.
I'm not impressed with it at all and it's no good especially when it doesn't tell you that you can talk. The option to talk did nothing and the guy was at the door. He rung it twice and I wasn't able to say anything. I'm kinda dissatisfied because I went through a lot to get the ring and then, it was not what I thought it was gonna be. The cost is good but that part could be better.

My friend who lives in the same complex used a similar system and said she liked it. So, I looked for different options because she had Ring and I’ve seen a lot of stuff about Ring getting hacked and whatnot. I didn’t want to do that. When we lived back in Maine, I know my family and our neighbors used ADT. So, based on the research I did, it was the best option. The salesperson was really nice. He got me the best deal that he could, was really helpful installing it, made sure I understood how to use it, what was going on, and what it was doing. The system is very user-friendly and has a nice GUI interface.

The ADT sales rep was very knowledgeable and very helpful. It was pretty easy and concise and he answered all of my questions. It was a really brief, but informative phone call. The installation was a little bit rocky. When the tech got there, he laid out all the devices that came with the package. They were having a special of some sort. And then, he went the first time to tell me which ones he recommends that I do not use in my home and how he thinks that they're not really worth it. And I felt like I didn’t really have a choice. By the end, I was very confused and we weren’t seeing eye to eye on some things.
It's my first apartment and it wasn’t like a big home, but I wanted to feel safe with this being my first purchase and I felt like my concerns weren’t heard. It didn’t really suit me to have so many sensors when I just have one way of entry. It didn’t fit and he was like, “Are you sure you wanna do that? Okay. It's your decision.” It was too much pressure and I was already very willing, I signed up with ADT. It wasn’t gonna be a trial basis. I grew up with ADT, so I was, for sure, going to be a customer. I feel like he was trying to upsell me on everything and it didn’t sit right with me. Also, he seemed like he was gonna rush anyway and it was a little iffy for me. He didn’t even take the time to explain all of the things that I was getting with the package before trying to upgrade me to something else. His recommendations were fine, but I don’t wanna be coerced or have my arm twisted into what he thinks is the best situation if I'm choosing otherwise.
Other than that, I feel very safe and protected in my home. I'm very happy with what I had installed, the sensors and stuff. The keypad, unfortunately, because my apartment is pretty old, couldn't be set up as a panel onto the wall. I just have it out in my room right now. But other than that, everything else is fine. The app is super convenient

So I talked to the technician about that and he said there was nothing he could do about it and the representative had misspoke. I was a little perturbed on that. But the technician was great. Great customer service from the technician’s standpoint. He explained everything that even I could understand. I had the system for the last 15 years in California before moving to Washington State. It was easy to operate and there was quick response if anything happened. Functionality was nice so I did it again when I moved. There was no reason to go anywhere else because I was familiar with the system and the service.

The ADT system is good. The person that got me set up was through Protect Your Home, and they were fine. But the person that came and did the work was horrible. I know that they're supposed to offer the highest-priced equipment first, which is understandable because that’s sales, but I kept telling him that was not what I was looking for. He kept having to call his supervisor for every little thing.
I don’t know if he wasn’t trained well, but he didn’t know what he was doing. Since I had an alarm system before, I felt that. But I didn’t wanna say anything. He kept making excuses every time I would ask a question versus telling him, “Well, I don’t see why you can’t do that.” He was telling me things like he couldn’t put the panel where it was supposed to go because he couldn’t find anywhere in the house that the panel would have to go. Where the back of your chair sits, it would have to be that low. He couldn’t put the camera on the outside. At first, I knew right away that he must be new. He kept trying to make it seem like he knew what he was talking about but didn’t.
They told me it would only take 4 to 5 hours to do setup. It took 2 days. I missed 3 hours of work the first day. The second day was my off day. He was here till 6 o’clock. I literally had to tell him, “It’s time for you to go. You wasted my whole day off.” It was such an inconvenience. His manager eventually had to come out and help him. Everything that I wanted, the manager did right away.

During the initial sales call that I took, the rep told me about the package that I was going to get. He even went to his manager to make sure that I was gonna get three door sensors, a camera, the doorbell camera, and the motion thing that's on the outside. But he wanted to swap out the motion thing for a glass break detector based on weight and height. So all the equipment was set up so it would be free. Then he said that after the installation was done, I would get the option of what type of plan I wanted and for the system I was gonna get, he said it would be 30-something a month.
But when the guy came for the installation, he said that the motion thing would be fine. Then, I ended having to pay $800 for equipment. On top of that, the lower plan said that it did not include any of the video monitoring, so the doorbell and the video camera wouldn't have been included. So, I was bumped up to the 59.99 a month plan which was a huge change. The installer threw in two smoke detectors for me but it didn't make up for $800 worth of equipment that I had to buy. So, I was pretty disappointed in that. And by the time we were going through all that, I could've said no. But we wanted to make sure that we were protected. The guy that installed the system also said that he was the manager for their local office and that he was gonna find out who the guy was that talked to me on the phone call because that phone call should've been recorded.
Other than that, at the time that I signed up with ADT, they were rated one of the better companies. Plus, their rep was already here and time is important to me, especially when I'm working and people are coming during the day. But since then, I've gotten some better offers from SimpliSafe or other places. Still, we're already set up and running up for years, so that will not change anything at this point.

There were things that weren’t on the ad and every single thing that they promoted on the ad turned out to be something different. The installer was already in my home and he had already drilled holes in my wall, and then told me what it was gonna be. He insisted that things were gonna be more expensive and he went from $700 to just asking me to give him $100 and we would get this done. It was ridiculous and very uncomfortable. At that point, this was during the corona epidemic and he came from New Orleans, and I just wanted him to get out of my house. The guy from Protect Your Home was awesome and the interaction was so great I wanted them to do the other alarm out at my parents’ place at the same time. There were all kinds of issues because my mom and dad currently have an alarm system. So, Protect Your Home couldn't do it because I already had a deal with ADT, but I couldn't get ADT to come out and do it. They're scheduling every day and they never show, and it took two weeks. I finally got ADT and the unfortunate part was every day, someone was breaking into my parents’ house. They initially broke into my house and they got my wife’s keys. It’s somebody that we know. Since we got Protect Your Home, they quit breaking into our house but last week, someone started trying to get into my email. There should’ve been some photos because we have cameras but they’ve deleted them, so I don’t know what we’re gonna do.

We have ADT at two locations, our business and our home. When we had to have something replaced that was not working at the one in our business, ADT's rep came out and our experience wasn’t good at first. It was a new system and I was telling him to pay for everything because we have metal framing around our doors and our wait area is black. And he was bringing ladders and he kept hitting them. He cut them all up but nobody ever did anything about it. He was a very not nice person and we were not happy with him.
Then, my husband called ADT and told them that the system still wasn’t working. They finally sent somebody out who was really nice. He knew exactly what was wrong and fixed it. Other than that, we really like the security system. We feel secure with it and it calls the sheriff's office. When the one at our business went off a few times from weird stuff like when a door was open for some reason, the system called the police station, so that's nice.

Everything with ADT has been good. My doorbell camera doesn’t work though. I let ADT know, and they gave me a different number to call but I haven’t called them yet. Other than that, I use the mobile app and it’s pretty good. And during the purchase, ADT's rep was fine. The installer set up the panel on everything, and then two days later, he came back and put all the contacts and put the lock in the door and the camera on the front.

The technicians came out and told us all about their services. I’ve been with ADT before and I got sort of conned into trying another service. It did not work out and I came back to ADT. I’m very happy with their services. They took the time to explain what they were doing. They put in equipment by the windows and the doors to keep the unwanted people out. The experience was excellent. They were here for about three hours. They took their time to do everything absolutely correctly, which my son and I both appreciated. Everything seems to be working fine.

I liked some things that ADT offered. I didn't like the first rep that I talked to though. He was explaining everything to me and maybe I asked a question that he didn't understand what I was saying, so he said, "Well, you don't expect for us to pay for that, do you?" I said, "No. But I don't even know why you said that to me," so I hung up. I didn't want it. I went down the line, and for some reason, I was thinking I was calling another company and it rung back to ADT. The rep said, "Oh, thanks for calling back." I said, "Calling back? I didn't call back. Some reason, I just pushed a button and it got you."
I talked to the rep and she explained everything to me, but there are some things I'm not liking about it. One thing, the box is at my kitchen door, so a lot of times I don't use the kitchen door. I go out the front door. If I have it on, I can't hear it. It doesn't ring loud enough at the front door. I've had Comcast and I hear it. I asked ADT if they can make it any louder. The rep said no and I'm wondering why. It gotta be louder than that for me to go out my front door. I don't use my back. I don't like that. Also, the price was different. They quoted a different price initially. I was supposed to pay 198, and after this, I paid almost $400. I did get a extra camera, but that threw me off. I'm supposed to get $200 back but then when I called in, he said $100, but he was willing to give me the 200. They said I had to go online to get it. I don't know all about that. I haven't gotten it yet. As far as the system itself being put in, I can see the camera in the front yard and back. That part is good.

We had just moved in the neighborhood and most of the people out here have ADT's signs. That's why we went with them. We rarely put the system on, but I'm satisfied.

We have kids going through the neighborhood grabbing door handles on vehicles and I've gotten them on video. Plus, I'm gone overnight sometimes. I talked to an ADT rep and it went good. But I was told a certain price and when the technician came out, it was completely a different price. They told me that the only thing I had to pay is the installation which was $99 and that I had to get $100 for equipment. Everything that I talked with the salespeople about, to when I talked to the technician, was coming out to $1,000.
The tech talked to his supervisor and we came into the price, which was 300 bucks. I said it was okay and it still wound up to about a little more than 400. I was misled. If one tells me a price, I expect that price. If there's any additional, he should have told me about it. But I would've paid the additional just for the fact that the tech had it installed. But it is what it is and that's the only issue I had. It could have been just miscommunication of words. Other than that, everything else was fine. The technician was really good. Plus, we wanted to get the system anyway so we still paid more than what we were told. We're also happy with the system.

I've seen ADT signs around and when the salesperson called, he said they would give me all these credits for the equipment. When he got here, I told him what I wanted then he told me I would have to make these huge payments until it was paid for. I figured I would pay for the equipment throughout my three years, but that was not how it worked. I had to have it paid for within four months and I wasn't told that. My monthly installments would've been $600 and that was not going to work. Once the installer got done, he talked about how much I had to pay over so many months, but I thought it would be over the term of my contract. I just purchased a new place, and $2,000 was not an option at that moment.
I ended up paying the 100 something to get the system in the house, but I felt misled on that situation by the salesperson at the beginning. Still, the installer was great. He was on point and helped me out as much as he could to get what I've gotten. I like the system, but I would definitely have liked to add some more things to it without a big blimp payment to do it. However, if that's the way it works, then there's nothing I can do about it. Also, I have the app downloaded to my phone, which is nice. I can set the alarm and deactivate it when I get home. When I would set my alarm off, they would call me and they are very responsive. When they call though, they need to ask for a passcode and if you give them the wrong one, they need to send the cops.
When I got home one day, I went in my garage and I set the alarm off. Once I figured out that my alarm was going off, I ran up to the house and deactivated it with my main controller. Someone from the company called me, but it was a little funny how that worked. She said I deactivated the alarm by my main controller and asked if everything was okay. I told her what had happened, then she said okay and that was it. I wasn't even asked to give a passcode. What if somebody was standing here with a gun to my head? Of course, I'm going to tell them everything was okay, but if something was going on, there should be a word or a phrase that alerts them without alerting the thief or whoever it is that the cops are on their way.

We went online looking for home security companies and ADT was a company we were interested in. We were referred to Protect Your Home because they are the local provider for ADT in our area. We got all the information we needed from the salespeople and their customer service people have been fine as well. But we have an older home that needs some extra things before they can get everything fully installed. And there are issues with the company not having adequate staff to come back a second time to do the installation. When someone is scheduled to come, we would get a call that says they don't have anybody in our area that's available to do it and that they would have to do it another day. It's an ongoing thing. But overall, the system is working the way we wanted it to. And their phone support has been fine. They do the best they can to walk us through what they can over the phone.

I like the visual display they have now and the fact that you can get to a panic button. I like all the other things that you can do with it now. I like the whole deal. However, when they hooked it up, it wasn't done right. They had to call the technician back out several days later. Then I used the wrong credit card. So, I went on their site and corrected the two months in advance they wanted. But I have some dispute with the installation. It was supposed to be free, and the only thing I had to pay for was equipment. But now, they're trying to lump the installation equipment into a larger value. I'm not happy right at the moment.

I went to Google and got a phone number, and I talked to somebody from ADT. It was two days before someone came out because that was the date that we set up. It would have been quicker but I needed it for two days. John, the technician, was good. He knew what he was doing and he was quick, which was what I liked the most. The system is simple and it’s not rocket science although the door sensors are way too big. It might be my fault because I told him I wanted the basic. I didn’t want any fancy stuff but I didn’t realize how big it was gonna be. Still, everything was good. We don’t have the internet now but we're gonna get it in the next two weeks. So, eventually, I’m going to upgrade to a one door camera and two cameras for the outside. The control panel is not touch screen and is part of the basic but I told the technician that I would like to have a better panel when that happens.

The thing was that I couldn't afford it. I had Vivint before. I was paying $65 a month. So, when the young lady talked to me on the phone, she told me that it was gonna be $27. When the guy came to the house, he said it was gonna be 60. I told him, "What happened? I can cancel it because I can't do this." Then he said, "Oh, you don't have to cancel it. We can talk about it and work our way around it. And I'll call my manager and we'll see what we can get just 'cause we wanna get you secured." He figured that out. We talked, put everything in place, and everything is good.

He also told me about the shockproof sensors and he showed me how to operate it from my phone and all that stuff. But I was a little shocked by the price. They emailed me the certificate. I've gotten that with my insurance and it has reduced my insurance by 26%.
I was home alone one night and I heard the alarm went off. Then when I looked at the little panel, it was the basement door and it had just blown open. Now, I just have to get my husband to pay attention on how to disarm it on his phone when he gets up in the middle of the night to let the dogs out so the kids won't even know that we don't set it at night but we can still hear whenever a door is open.

They never told me that whenever the technician that will come, they would charge me more than the 100 that they charged me in the call. They never told me that I would end up paying like $600. They said it was not even $50. Overall everything is not really worth the money.
I requested to have a refund and for them to take out the service but they refused to do it because according to them, when I called, it was already the fourth day so I’m stuck with it for the next three years. They’re just bringing somebody to get the ring and give me partial refund for the installation fee and that’s it. Also, they should make sure their technicians wear a mask because the one that went to the home to put everything never wore a mask. I have a baby at home so it was a little uncomfortable as well.

He was here for a considerable amount of time negotiating and then finally getting around to install and stuff. He was a really good guy and a really good salesman.
The rep finished installing the system on the same day. I wasn’t able to get the sign the same day because of his supply. But he put me down for his route. Two days later, he had installs out, which was in this route. So, he sent me a text message and let me know that I could get the sign. The system is working pretty well and I’m happy with it. Anyway, the technician did some work, but he left and came back the next day to finish it with another guy. When they left, they left a bunch of wires hanging out of my siding and a couple of holes. My husband ended up going in the attic and he found out that they ran all of the cameras with extension cords. Their manager couldn’t come back till the day after the next, but he came, rewired everything and tried to fix some of the stuff that the two had messed up. My friend has ADT and I always wanted to try it, so when I had a chance, I did it. The sales rep was awesome. He knows his stuff and I could tell he loves what he does. He opened the book, gave me a lesson and every time he put something up, he explained it very carefully. He showed me what each camera does and I love it. If more people got it, it'd be much cheaper. It's so many things that it's important for and I don't know why people don't get it. They get cable, and they should also get security for their house, know who's around them and what's going on around them, especially during this police reform thing. I'd pay anything for my own safety and it's worth every penny. I'm more comfortable now.
My dogs don't bark anymore because the phone makes a noise, so I don't have to run to the window. I really enjoy it and I feel safe. I'll be moving on the 1st and I can't wait to bring my cameras over there. We're supposed to put three things in. The guy put in the fire alarm and I don't need that because the house I'm moving to already has that over there and they have a monoxide too. He can give me another camera instead. All in all, I would definitely recommend ADT. In where I'll move to, I bet I can get a few people to sign up.
I'm going to tell them they can watch what their kids are doing. They can see what happened if there was danger. They can rewind the footage and they can check out what happened so they'll know what to do. I'm disabled, so if I fall, I'll have how I fell on tape and I'll know what I need to do. Also, I don't like it when someone minds my business and if the maintenance man comes to my house to mind my business, that's for them too. So, I hope they know that. That will deter them from coming into my house when I'm not home. They know you're not home and they go right in your house. They do it all the time.

When ADT advertised, initially, they said they give you the equipment for free or something like that, but once they come in and look at your house and figure out where the entry points are and what needs to be covered, the promotion did not cover everything. I had to pay another $300 to $400 out of my pocket to get all the exits covered in a certain way so it's kinda safe. I was not happy as I was expecting it to be free, but I had to pay $400. And I heard the same thing about others in my community who’s used them that they had to pay quite a bit, too. I wish they're a little more forthcoming about the promotion. So far ADT has been pretty good. However one sensor on the front door stopped working after a few months. And they came in and replaced it right away without any charge to me. It's been fine since then. So, overall, everything else is working fine. The system is pretty straightforward.

They were able to tap into my AC so I'm able to control that. When I'm downstairs, I don't have to go upstairs to make our house cooler.
However, I was told that I would get a gift card when I got the system. When I contacted ADT, they said they knew nothing about that and I wasn't supposed to get one. I then felt that they were just telling me about the gift card so they could get the sale and I'm a little offended by that. There have also been a couple of technical support problems. I had an issue when the battery for the doorbell camera was saying that it was low. Nobody told me how to change that. I had the installation done in March and it has only been a couple of months. With this, I would have an issue of having to change the battery every couple of months. Still, the service has been good so far.

We called the number of ADT that we saw in a flyer and spoke to a gentleman on the phone for about 25 minutes. It went pretty well. We decided to get the free estimate or the quote. And then the technician came by, reiterated the same information and we agreed to install. They tried to remove any existing hardware that may not have been needed but based on the configuration in the home already, some of that was possible and some were not. They communicated well and worked pretty quickly.
But one thing that could’ve been improved is that the gentleman working with our system wasn’t well-versed in the specifics of the system in terms of arming and disarming. There were some other systems he was working with, so it would've been like the second one that he installed but he had to call in for some help and struggled. I think it’s because he wasn’t familiar with it. He could’ve read up before coming over.

The installer was awesome. Everything was good.

I worked with one of the other providers before and I wasn’t satisfied. The next one I called was ADT and they satisfied my need. I’m the least mechanically and electronically savvy person on earth and there are still things that I don’t understand, but they are very good when I call them. When I have a problem, they walk me through it. I had a problem with one repairman and when I called, I asked not to send the guy because I won’t deal with him again. He was so ridiculous. The first time he came out, it was a summer day and my son-in-law was putting asphalt seal on my driveway. I said that he couldn't come into my driveway. I asked him to walk up my lawn and he got upset about it. My whole lot is 200 feet deep and about 40 feet in the front. I was not asking him to walk 100 miles.
When he kept asking me about the stuff, I said that I didn't know what I was doing and that I just knew it didn't work. I said that was his problem. He had no patience with me whatsoever. The next time he came out, it was the same way. He would gruff and as far as I’m concerned, he didn’t really complete the job. I had one thing, that the battery was dead. It was all put in at the same time. I'm not an electronic expert, but if you come to our home with the several monitors in it and they’re all put in the same time, you’d check the other ones. He didn’t and I had to have multiple people back out after. The guy who is really nice is Tim. I asked if I could have him and said that I'd wait another day. They sent him, which was fine.

My daughter had AT&T at her house. We were sitting and talking one afternoon, and she said, “Mama, you need to get a security system.” She texted ADT and they literally called me within three minutes, and it was on a Friday. The tech came out Saturday morning at 8 o’clock. I was totally impressed. Two technicians came and they were wonderful. Derek came first, then because they weren’t that busy on Saturday, they sent another tech. The second tech came about halfway into the call but both of them went over everything. They showed me the different features and proposed everything for my house. I just couldn't afford $8,000 so I ended up just alarming the doors and the keypad. They were really knowledgeable. They were lovely to have in my home and they were outstanding.
I love the system's features. I was a little nervous to get used to it, but I’m fine now. What I really love is the fact that I can just arm and disarm it from my phone. The system is working great. It’s really convenient. I ended up getting the more computerized-looking pad, like a laptop. I spent the extra money and I’m really happy with that. Overall, I can’t say enough good about ADT and the techs that came out.

In our old home, we had a bunch more sensors for the same price, and with this one, Protect Your Home said there weren’t as many sensors being provided because the promotion wasn’t the same. So we had to figure out what to cut out of the package. In the past, we had like 21 windows but with this one, they were only giving us 12. The installation went pretty smooth. The information was a little bit different than what we received from the person who came to our house the first time. So that kind of threw us off a little bit. It was a different experience than we anticipated by what was told to us on the phone. Several times I asked the question about the installer fee and was there going to be any additional fees required other than the $99 installation fee. The rep said, "No." He was very adamant that there was not going to be any additional charges. But then, there was a lot more than that.
They transferred me to another specialist who told me all of this information about ADT. I told him that I needed to talk with my husband and that we didn't know if this was what we wanna do. He said, “Oh, yeah, absolutely. That's not a problem. We'll just send somebody out to your home, and then, he can talk with you more about what questions you might have and see if that’s something that you would like to pursue and move forward with.” I was okay with that.
When the gentlemen who first came out got here, he was ready to install. He didn't even know that we still needed more information and wanted to discuss further about even going forward with it. So nobody seemed to be on the same page. We were kind of thrown off. There was some miscommunication or lack of communication in there somewhere along the way. We had somebody come out today to finish the installation process because he couldn't finish the day that he came out here. It got to be late into the evening and it was raining so he didn't install the cameras outside.
I made the call to reschedule the rest of the installation and we set up an appointment. And then, I received a callback the the evening before saying that I had to reschedule, which was fine. But it was kind of hard between my husband and I trying to coordinate a time with our schedule. When the original guy came out, he arrived at the end of the timeframe that we were given and nobody called. But for today's appointment, it was nice because the gentleman called us to let us know. And that was what I was told over the phone. They said, “Someone will give you a call beforehand,” which makes it nice, especially if you're working. We've gotten a lot more information from the guy today. He was a lot more explanatory with everything, and things make a lot more sense today than they did the other day.

If she would’ve told me it was a three-year contract, I would’ve never done it. I wasn’t told until after the technician came in. That should be right ahead. Whenever you call the number to have everything set up, they should make you aware that it’s going to be a three-year contract because I expected a one-year contract.
The technician came in and set everything up. And then when he went over the contract at the end, he said, “This is a three-year contract.” I said, “Wait a minute. That wasn’t told that it was a three – I thought it was for a year.” “No, no. It’s only three-year contract.” And then I said, “Man, if I would’ve known it was gonna be three-year contract, I would’ve never done it.” So then, he went, “If you’re not gonna want it, I’m gonna have to take everything off.” And I said, “Hell, I’m not gonna make you take everything off.” It took him a couple hours to install everything. One of my buddies in my work recommended ADT to me because I was a new homeowner and I was looking for a security system. I didn't know where I was moving into and I needed this to back me up until I got to know the area. My buddy told me to just go ahead and do it. The only thing left out to do was jot down a contract. I was like, “I'll take my chances on it for now.”
I was getting everything remodeled in the house and I had my guy working at the house at that time. He dealt with the dude that came over and did the installation of the security system. The system is of good quality and I like it. But at the same time, it sucks. If for example if my alarm goes off right now and the reps would call me to ask if I'd want them to send out a police unit, I'd tell them to go ahead and do that. But the cops wouldn't get to my house until two or three hours later. The way I see it is this is just pretty much an alarm to go off. It only takes a robber about a couple of minutes to get what he wants. If I get the cops shows up in two or three hours, then the robber would have already gone by that time.
I'm paying monthly payments for this then the company gets the cops to come out. It just needs a false alarm and they come out. The second time they come, they would charge me. If the alarm goes off then I'm like, “Did the wind just blow open my door? Should I have them call the cops and pay that bill or risk it?” The last time the reps called, I told them to send the unit out. But when I got there, they were just walking up the same as I was. I was like, “You're only getting here now?”

In a nutshell - installation went ok, never had an issue with monitoring but, the way in which the system's installed is COMPLETELY different than I was told. I live in a rental and SPECIFICALLY told the installer that materials like a 3M EASILY REMOVED product HAD to be used. In fact, during installation I questioned what he was using as it looked more permanent than a 3M type product. He ASSURED me it would be easily removed. Now 2 years later, in TRYING to remove the pieces of the system from the wall, doing so is causing MAJOR drywall damage!! In NO WAY are the sticky straps anything like we discussed. So unless you want to spend time (and money) fixing the damage or, have it impact your security deposit, I would not recommend ADT for a property you're renting.

We bought a new house, and I needed a security system and got ADT. I like their sign-up deals. We got some free cameras for signing up. The unit is really easy to use. I've never had to call and ask for anything and if I go onto the website for support, I can find my answers there. But if there's a hardware question, I go back to the local installer to inquire about it.
With ADT, I really like that I can see the cameras on the app on the phone. I've had some in the past, but we had to go to their website to view it versus being able to view it within the app. However, I would like to see ADT get more into the IoT realm of full home automation, much like Nest is in that space already. ADT's core is security, but the panel can do more things like the Samsung help. It can interact with all different things and create triggers and automation. Where the automation on the panels ADT provides is very limited. If they're not limited, they're really locked down in the sense that, I need an installer code to add devices. So, it keeps me having to go back to the dealer to get their things.

When we get into the house and forget that we have the security on, they always call you on the phone to try to find out if I was aware of this or that, and when there is trouble signal beeping, you call them and they’re always very responsive to fix it.
However, they didn’t give me a camera. There was a promotion that went on right then, and I told them, “Well, I just signed up a couple of weeks, and you guys are doing this. Am I entitled to this?” They wanted me to pay something to get it. I wasn’t happy about that. Also, compared to what others are charging, ADT's monthly is very high. I used that for a while, and I downgraded. So, if I want to lock the house up, I have to physically go to the device to lock it. I don’t do that on the phone anymore. I took that option off in order to reduce what I pay monthly. But other than that, it’s great. I like the fact that when someone opens up the house without turning off the alarm system, your phone starts ringing immediately, showing that their monitoring team is doing a good job.

The installer was also very good. He was professional and he knew what he was doing. He helped us explain all the systems, so we were in good shape there. He did well. We also have the app, which we have used once or twice, and it works.

We’ve had ADT for a couple of years and at the time, they were one of the best companies out there. Plus, their price was very competitive. However, they should have included some cameras, which I will be looking at when I renew or change my providers.

The previous system I had gone out of business and ADT happened to be running a special and that's why I called them. The customer service is sometimes good, sometimes not so much. Recently, I called them with an issue and I had a CO2 monitor that was beeping and something that the homeowner wasn't able to take care of herself. The person that I got on the phone said that I could do it and they would guide me through and sent me out to buy a $25 battery. When I got back home and I called them back, they said that I couldn't do that. It has to be a technician. They sent a technician and that took about seven days for him to get out of here. When he came he asked me why I bought the $25 battery because it only took regular little AAAs.
It happened to me again about two weeks ago. I had a smoke detector that was going off and I called ADT. The lady told me it needed a $13 battery and I went out and got that. My son actually came out and figured out how to take this one down and put it in. He asked me why I bought the expensive battery because again, it was just the three AAAs. ADT should train their customer service on what the equipment is. They were also very expensive. I found out that other companies were offering the exact same thing for less money. When I called to cancel, after switching me around to four different people, they somehow miraculously were able to cut my bill in half so that I wouldn't cancel. Now, I have a contract with them, so I'm kinda stuck with them for the next year. Do not go with ADT.

ADT has a good reputation. Their sales reps were very professional. The installers were wonderful too. One guy was named Albert and the other guy was Evan, and they were really good. They explained everything to me and were very kind. They came back out and helped me with a problem when the corporate wouldn’t. However, I’m a little confused with the system because I’m not very high-tech. The little thing that goes around the neck for an emergency, which I need one because I have cancer, sets the system off sometimes. So, lately, I haven't been arming it, but I plan to arm it today to see if it sets it off again.

I was asking to switch over my service including the alarm service, the smoke detectors, and all of that from another service to ADT and they told me that they would do that for free. The guy would charge me $99 but they would send me a $100 voucher. None of that was true. I also wanted to expand my service and have some things added and they said they would give me a big credit for that so that would probably end up free. It ended up costing $1,300. It was quite a big difference from free. I spoke with the installers about that and they said that that was always a problem for them. They’d come out and the story would be totally different from what people had been promised on the phone.
Also, I couldn’t work something out with the first guy that came out. I kept trying to tell him what I wanted and he kept not understanding and tried to sell me other stuff. I told them to leave because we weren’t gonna get anywhere. And then the manager called me and he came and worked it out. But I didn’t know the manager was gonna call me. I was prepared to drop ADT and get another service because the guy who came out didn’t know what he was doing.

Protect Your Home was easy to work with when they were trying to sell us the product. But when we were trying to get ahold of somebody with issues, I was getting transferred all over the place. No one wanted to help and they didn't know what I was talking about. The installer installed all of the windows and doors but our sliding door has two doors that open and he left one of the doors without an alarm, which is like one of the main doors to come in. We asked him about that and he said we don't need it. He said he installed the alarm on the door that's the main side. But if someone wants to come through the other side, it's not gonna ring the alarm, so there's a space within our house that’s open to people coming in without us knowing. He didn't inform us of that at all.
They had to come back out and install another alarm and we had to pay almost $200 for that. That was kinda frustrating because that's not something we do every day. That's something that the installer should have known. If they're gonna have professionals come out, they should make sure they're knowledgeable and know what they're doing, instead of the customer having to figure it out on their own because some people might not figure it out. It’s worthless to pay for a system every month that isn't completely protecting the house.

I looked into other companies and ADT was cheaper. But I’m not really too happy with them. The guy I dealt with was really nice. It’s mainly just what I got for the price. When we set it up, I thought we’re gonna have the sensors on all the windows. There is one in each room for my kids' window. But there are five windows in the living room and the kitchen, and none of them have a sensor. When the guy had started putting the sensors up, the locations were those. So I was kinda confused but I didn’t wanna be like, “Well, you know, never mind.” So I let him finish. But I don’t even feel safe. It’s really pointless to have the system. But I wish the stuff really works. If I get senors, the cost is so much pricier and I’m already paying enough for the service.

I was led to Defenders and I got their information, then I called back several times. It was a two-day process and when they came out, they lied to me about the price. I knew that they have pressure sales and I was used to all that. I was okay with that, too. But for them to flat-out lie is a problem and it left a very bad taste in my mouth for ADT. I’m sure I verified the rates several times and I was told that for the first two years, the rate was 27.99. But, it actually wasn't and instead, it would be 19.99 then 39 or something for the next two years. In the end, I stuck with the higher bill because I was there and to go to the 19.99 rate would've cost me about the same over a three-year period. But I’m still not happy with what they did.

He showed me and my wife how to use the system as well as doing it on our phone. He showed everything. But we had a technical difficulty a couple of weeks ago because the garage wasn't setting. The house was setting though. Every time we set the house, the garage would still come up.
We called a technician to come out. We found that the guy before who came out to set up the sensors in our garage wound up putting too much molding around the sensors. That was causing the problem with the connection. But the guy that came out a couple of weeks ago wound up taking all that molding off making sure the connection was better. From that point on, everything has been all right. ADT has been on point so far. I gave everybody a call that we know to go down there. I love the system's overall functionality and performance. It’s my first time having a security system in the home and the app is my favorite thing. It's very easy to use and understand. However, I wish that the service was more affordable. If it was more affordable, I would recommend more people to use it. If they could work on that, it would be great. My home doesn't have anything. The system is just for in case emergency. I don't go anywhere. I'm living at home. I got their number from the website so I called them for questions. I built my own. And then I was asking him just anybody electronic and in installing, they can charge me one time. They took my number and everything, and then, "Do this. This one is good." They forced to me to do it. And it's not my interest. That was the main thing.
However, we are not very happy. The system is sometimes not working. First of all, the image is not clear. The second one, it's not recording all the time, and the third one also. At night, the one camera is freezing and the other camera is off. Also, the recording one time went off. And even when I test it, it goes out. And when coming in, it records, but when going out, it doesn't. I don't know what has been going on and we are trying to call Protect Your Home today. One time, this other day, the installer called. He came back. He installed another second one. Still we're not happy. It's not good.
Protect Your Home called us last week, and they told us we have a deal 500. That's not our issue. The guy, when he installed, within three days, it is off two times. "That is our mistake," the guy said, when he came the second time. And then, they called us. They said, "We have to charge you $500." That's not really good. That's not our mistake, and then we don't have to get charged with that.
We canceled before the three days. We faxed everything back to the company the second day. But still they came in, they saw and put in an extra one motion detector and then two cameras, but they're not working. And then, they charged me extra. The guy told us the first time 450 plus. Then this month is free, June 23 only the first payment, he said. And in June, they charged us an extra 500. They said, "You have to pay for the police." Why? You don't pay for that. I have to call the main company because there is a lot fouls and charges. Plus, it's the waiting and waiting.

The ADT phone rep asked me what system I currently had on my home and if I was looking to change anything at that point, which I was. It was the reason why I was searching for a new company. They were very helpful with that and letting me know that they were gonna have all the equipment and everything ready when they sent the technician out. The installation was not what we expected though. The technician came out and he was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable, but he did not have all the equipment that I requested to be installed.
I was looking to do eight total and I was told that wouldn't be a problem. They would allow me to do up to eight or even up to 16 with the system. Plus, the monthly service fee for even the highest package that ADT offers was cheaper than what I was currently paying with the other company for my monthly fee. So, I was okay with paying the highest package that ADT had because it was still saving me almost $30 a month. When the technician came, they only had one camera and that upset me. I told them that I already had four cameras in place so, I was expecting at least those four to be replaced. When they did the installation, he said that they usually get about one to two cameras every week. He would give us a call and come out and install them, one by one, when they actually received them. So, I would be looking at four or five more weeks before the system is fully up and running with what I had originally requested.
Once the installation was done, I had one camera that was not even working when he left my home. I had to call back the following day to have another technician come out and replace the doorbell camera. I am still without all the cameras and I still only have one camera that's in place that they installed. I have one camera that my husband installed on the system and I still have six cameras that are not installed yet. This will be week three from when they installed. I called and I was told by the technician who came out to replace the doorbell camera that wasn't working the very next day. He told my husband and I that we could order ADT cameras, and he gave us the style number that we needed to order. We could order them ourselves and then, just call and have the technician come out and install them once we receive them.
That has been a struggle because once we did that and contacted ADT, we were told that they don't do that. Then, when we spoke with a manager, we were told that the manager would call us back. The manager was gonna set up to come out and install them for us but I never received a phone call from him at all. I ended up calling yesterday and spoke with customer care in regards to setting up that appointment to have someone come out and just install the cameras that we purchased. So, it’s been a back-and-forth. Now, I'm well over the three-day trial period of canceling with no fees. I'm locked-in to the three-year contract so I can't do anything. I have to stay with ADT at this point and I'm just fighting to get the equipment that I wanted originally in place.
I have cameras in my backyard for our pool and our back fence backs the main street. So, having the cameras in place is an extra added security for us because we have a park right behind us. So, even though I don't have kids in my home that I have to worry about, I worry about the kids at the park playing and possibly coming over the fence, or something happening. I have no cameras right now in my backyard that are working.

I've had service with ADT for about six years. I like the service because I haven't had any problems. Everybody's been helpful, which is why I went back again. I like the features in my service package a lot. If I’m away and if I set the alarm by my phone, I don't have to worry about opening the door. To identify that somebody left like you set away, it's almost like you have to open the door to assume you're leaving. My wife and I stopped doing that. As we get in the bed, we just set the alarm by phone and it allows you to set it. Something else that the phone feature doesn't allow is for you to bypass certain sensors. You have to bypass with a keypad and then you could set the alarm by the phone. But it's not a big issue. My experience has been nothing short of excellent. I've seen the system work firsthand to where if I had a break or a shadow, the alarm would go off. I can see a notification so it's been good.

I like the remote control to trigger the system from like the car. I like being able to put the alarm on when we leave on vacation. When we set it up, I like being able to access it online. When I forget how to turn it to silent mode, I can Google it and then it pops up on how to do it. So I like that too. But one of the features I had asked about was whether or not they could assign different codes to people. I thought that was a feature because that’s what I had with my other one, where you could put people in and then take them back out as you need it to like housekeeping. But I’ve never used it because I ended up giving them a key and then I just changed all the locks once we got the work done that we needed. The other thing that I like is that we could add on stuff to it later.

I love the system but ADT can offer better things in the package. Everything that they give you is kinda like the standard. I had ADT previously and what originally made me look at ADT this time was they were advertising the doorbell so I contacted them and set up for them to come out. During that call, they were showing me that the doorbell was more of an upgrade for previous customers who already had the service and needed to upgrade. The little keychain was good but I ended up not getting one because I used that money to get another sensor on the door, but I still ended up paying for another one. It would help if they gave more sensors, a more updated keypad, and better features. I kinda hate now that I didn't get the key fob to arm and disarm the system because I'm just gonna have to use my cellphone. Sometimes, the signal may not be the strongest.

So right now, I just get a bill and I put a money order in it and send it to them. Also, my sign that I had out front broke. I asked ADT for another and they said they couldn’t give me another one. Sometimes you get tired of going through the petty things with different people and you just like, “Forget it.” That’s probably what some of them want you to do anyway. Some of them act like they really care. Some of them act like they don’t give a damn one way or another. So, I just said, "I was planning on dropping it when my contract is up." And then he said that I called them and told them that I wanted to drop, and I know that I didn’t. Little things like that. They were all right, but one guy got a little testy.
The system seems all right. But where I live at and everything, it’s kind of a waste because I very seldom even turn it on and I got it because I get a discount on my homeowners insurance. I use it when I go out of town, which is very seldom. And who goes out of town now? There are probably just a few houses out here that do have the security system in their home because it’s a fairly decent area. I just pay the bill, and when the contract is done, I’m done.

I inquired with ADT about surveillance for a property. A salesman came and sold me their system. I could tell he has been with ADT for a while as he knew the ins and outs of their products. He broke things down for me and caught my attention. However, I wanted surveillance and instead I ended up with an alarm. Also, I wanted to able to arm my system while walking out the door. I want to be able to push a button and have the system give me x amount of seconds to exit the premises and then arm it. I can't do that with the door open. Still things are okay because I can arm the system from my cell phone. But then, sometimes I forget to arm my system. Regardless, I feel more secure with my system.
