ADT is a big company. That was why I chose it over other providers and my system is pretty good. I'm satisfied.

I used to have ADT years ago and when I decided to go back with them, everything went smoothly. They were timely as well. The appointment I made happened really quick, so I didn't have to wait and I was happy with that. There was a young kid who was very helpful and showed me everything, so it was good. It was quite the process. However, what people should realize is when they get an alarm system, the price that gets advertised is not the price that they pay. There are a lot of options that they all need to have to pay out of pocket to get things going.
I think sometimes it’s misleading, and it's with any of the security system companies, not just ADT. They could say you don’t have to pay anything upfront, but by the time you get the stuff you really need for your house, you’re paying quite a bit upfront and/or you have to make monthly payments because the cost is high. The monthly fee for the services is relatively cheap, but the cost of the equipment is expensive.

The sales representative was perfect and the tech who came out and installed everything was very knowledgeable as well. They pretty much gave me any information that I needed and wasn't sure of. They took their time and explained every little thing to me. The installer cleaned up very well too. I told him not to worry about it because I was already in the mix of cleaning but he said he had to.
Overall, it's a good system. But I went with ADT because I mainly wanted a security camera and that's actually one of the disappointments. In order to receive a security camera, I would have to have internet but I'm right on that edge that doesn't accept it. I've been trying the system out and so far, I've been not caring about turning on the security system because if someone could steal something, they're gonna steal something that's outside and there's no detection on that. When I leave the house, I don't even set the alarm. Then when I do, the alarms don't go off if I come through the back. I would have to open up the main front door. The system is actually wasting time and I know it's gonna waste my money because I have something that I'm not using. I got told that I was gonna get a $200 gift card instead of a $100 which was fine. It really didn't matter about the money situation though. It was more of the guy saying that I could give it a trial.

I needed security so I called ADT. The person that talked to me on the phone that sold me the product made a lot of promises as far as the system was concerned and what she could offer. We went through the whole house, as far as windows, doors and this and that. But when the guy got out there, it was a whole different story. All of a sudden I needed to purchase this and purchase that, things she already told me I would get as part of the package that she sold me. So I told the guy that I was a little discouraged, but that’s a typical sales situation where they promise you things, get you out there under pressure, and you’re forced to pay. Still, I wasn’t satisfied with the person on the phone that sold the product to me.
ADT should improve the way that they sell the product and customers should make sure that they get whatever it is that the reps discuss with them in writing because they make you pay for everything right then and there on the phone when they get your credit card number. If I didn’t need a security system right away, I would have walked away from the deal.

I chose ADT because I have seen a few signs in the neighborhood. My neighbor to the right and my neighbor across the street have them. Then I remembered a friend having their service as well, so I thought I would give them a call. I was glad that my customer service experience went very well. We just had a couple of hiccups toward the end. We had cameras that were added and there was an extender that was needed for the front camera. When it came in, it was a hard time getting an appointment set up right away and we needed to get out of town. It was kind of an inconvenience for us to have to wait. That appointment should have been set up ASAP because we were priority on the list. They should have kept us a priority until the job was completed and not just go on to the next customer.
They had to call someone else out to make that happen even though they had received the extender. I had to call a couple of times. I had to call the manager to have someone come out to connect that extender to make the cameras work in the front. Right now, one of the cameras in the front for some reason is not recording on my phone. Other than that, we're loving ADT. The guy that came out did a wonderful job. The second person they sent out was awesome.

My father has been through a lot and I wanted to make sure that he was protected and make sure that when he is out, nobody breaks in the house. He lives in a town where there is crime. There are a lot of transplants in that area that came from larger cities, which kinda brought in a bad element in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The ADT rep was very helpful, laid everything out quite well, and answered all my questions. He also set everything up very quickly. The installation went fantastically. They helped my father out very much. My father is 70 and lives on his own. He's also a veteran. The guy contacted his boss and got a couple of extra things thrown in for his safety. That was very much appreciated.
Being that I live two and a half hours from my father, I wanted a lot of the functionality with the app. I wanted something also that I could monitor from where I am but was also something that was simplistic. My father is partially disabled physically and he has the mentality of a 14-year-old. You gotta kinda go slow in teaching him. He has a short patience level as well. With him getting a little bit older and me living away, it took him a little while to catch onto how the remote works and how to arm disarm the system.

Ever since I got ADT I haven't been satisfied with it because first thing was they promised me I'd get $100 gift card, which I never received. When I called them, I didn't get it directly from ADT, it came from a third party source. I would suggest to them that if it's going through a third party, they should let people know. Then when I had a minor problem I called. They told me they had to have somebody come out, and it's gonna cost me to do something to one of my system.
I got the system one month before, and then like three months I had to move and had to start my contract all over again with them. When something went wrong they had to troubleshoot it, they said somebody would come out and repair something. When I called back the person that I've got basically walked me through the steps, what to do, and it was fixed. I'm in a new contract, and I cannot break the contract. If I do this I have to pay for the whole time that I'm in contract with them for.

The sales representative was good, but when they called me first, they said the tools were for free. What they said is different from what they come and asked me. But I have been charged about $500. Also, they said they would send $100 gift card, and somebody sent me a letter saying to send $5 money order to redeem. I didn’t do this. Other than that, I like the door lock and the camera features of the system.
Hello Mesfin. We are sorry for your experience. In order to redeem the gift card from the installing company you had your services purchased through, you would need to send in the $5.00 money order. Once you submit that, you can contact Mpell Solutions at 1-800-450-1575 to check on the status of your gift card as well. Thank you. -Andrew

We were sitting in the patio drinking a beer and ADT came on the television, and my wife said that it would be a good idea. So, I called and the rep was very informative and her product knowledge was amazing. She could answer any question that I could come up with and even gave me information that I didn't ask about. So, she was very knowledgeable.
The installer came in and went over everything with us. He was super nice, friendly and at no point in time was I worried. If I needed to leave, I would've left him in my house. I wouldn't have been scared that he stole anything. He was very knowledgeable too and professional. I enjoyed talking to him. He went over the system with me, my wife and my kids. He made sure that we didn't have any questions whatsoever. I'm older and I'm challenged with my phone so he walked me right through the app and getting it on my phone. The experience with ADT was painless and it was great.

The ADT guy over the phone offered quite a few stuff but when the technician came here, he didn't have any information about the things that I was told over the phone. One of the things I was offered was the system for fire detection. The tech said, "I don’t have anything like that here, but I’m still gonna put it here for you.” He still put it and helped me with it. It was a good experience and the system has been working well so far.

My last house I had, I had ADT in it to start with and I've had good service with it. And then when I moved out here to Lehigh, I transferred it over. I've been here since '96 and been with ADT this whole time. The guy that came out and installed the stuff was fantastic. I've had four or five different companies call me and try to get me to change out because ADT does this and this. They all do the same thing, so I've had good service with ADT. Just recently, I called them up, said, "Hey, look, I've had this thing since '96. It's time for an upgrade" because it's all wire stuff. I'm up to the modern technology now.
They just came in to put a new smoke alarm up. I've got a couple of more things. I want to put an outside siren and light out. It's a little extra money but I'd rather pay it and be safe. I had one break-in, they called the cops, then the cops were here before I got here. I've had nothing but good service with ADT. Every system has worked perfectly. So if I don't have to call them, then everything works good.
I tell anybody that wants to get an upgrade to go to ADT first. You can check around with the other people. They will stick you for $7,000, $8,000 and they will put this in and that in and everything. Talk to the salesman. He'll give you options. You don't need all those fancy stuff unless you really want it. They come in, will put cameras up. The salesman told me all these. "This is what we offer." And I said, "No. I don't need all that. Let's pick and choose on what I need and we'll base it on that." And he said, "No problem. If that's what you want, that's what you get." I love ADT and I wouldn't change for nothing, not unless it’s free. But if they want to cut my bill down a bit, I would be happy too.

ADT's rep was very informative, knowledgeable, and courteous. He was very succinct and gave us thorough explanations on each part of their system. He told us what would work for us and what would not. We went with them and their installer was very meticulous. He did not disturb anything in our house and put everything back just as he found it. He showed us how to set the system up as well as how to activate and deactivate it. We also tried out the different functions of the system. So far, I like that my phone is connected to it. When the alarm goes off, I automatically get a message about it. I don't think any company could've done a better job. I got everything I needed.

It was beyond easy to work with ADT. They made it a very easy sale. I called and they told me that there was a current promotion going out there for $800 and something, in which I thought was great. They said that that covers a basic house. Then I described to him how many windows and doors I had. It's just a regular house. He said, “Well, that’s definitely not gonna cover your house. Let me get my manager.”
The manager got on the phone. She asked me a couple more questions, and she said, “I'm gonna bump it up an additional $900 something.” I thought that was great. She said, “That will more than cover your house for security and have a little extra in it if there's a couple of add-ons you wanna do.” I also told her that I don’t have a telephone service or landline. She said, “That’s no problem. I'll surely chip-in for you.”
We talked about the monthly service. It was 20 something bucks a month. When the installer got there, he showed me the minimum he could do, and it was gonna cost me 400 bucks, which was still great, but not what they told me. On top of that, it was gonna be $59 a month instead of the $24. So, whether I misunderstood them or not, I don't know. I thought they were pretty clear. But I went along with it. I committed to it. So, I'm not complaining. But the contractor was great, very honest, upfront with me and he did his work and got done. He did a great job.
Hello Zachary- Thank you for choosing ADT to protect your home. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with the feedback of your experience. The rate of $27.99 is for basic services with a land line being utilized. We apologize about the confusion.

The sales rep was very helpful. She gave me a great deal and due to the situation of why I wanted ADT at my house. But since my sensor fell off of my door, it does not work at all. I’ve contacted them several times to ask them if there was some way somebody could come out. They always said I had to wait 24 hours, for some reason. And I just recently called and told them that I don’t want the service at all because I can’t even use it. It doesn’t work, so there’s no point in having it. And the lady said something about I still have to pay due to the contract. I said, “Even if it’s not working? Why do I gotta pay for something that I’m not even able to use?” And then the app on my cellphone would work disarming and arming the system, but the panel itself was not working. It kept saying, “Bypass. Alarm system on by something, bypass.” Even if I will open my door while the alarm was on, it still didn’t work.
I'm still waiting on somebody to come out. And I called them several times. I have left messages. Then they said they were going to ship me another sensor and I would have to put it up myself. I said, “Well, I don’t know what I’m doing. How am I gonna know if it’s working, and how to reboot the system?” I then told them that I just don’t want the service at all. It was great at first. It was working. Everything was perfect and I was satisfied. It still works for my patio door. But I don’t like it now because I can’t even use it. It is not working now on my front door.

The explanation of the system went okay but I had to call back the next day because one of the sensors fell down. They came back out and replaced the sensor. The only thing I was dissatisfied with was the fact that they told me that I would also be getting a Visa credit card. That never happened. They keep saying I have to fill out some documents. They send them. I fill out whatever I saw online. But I never heard anything.

There was some misinformation about the cost and when payments were gonna be due. We were set up on an installment for the equipment. The rep of ADT told us that they weren’t gonna be pulling out any money until that following Wednesday after the installation, and then they had pulled money out Sunday. We also thought that the amount we had to pay for the install also included the monthly service fee, but it doesn’t. All have been handled and situated but the information from their offices to their installers should be a little better. But the rep was an awesome guy and we like the features of the system that we god. Everything works as it should. We already set the alarm off a couple of times.

ADT responded as soon as I called the number that was on the mailer that I got. The person I talked to first transferred me to his manager because he asked me for my social details, and I was skeptical because at that point I didn’t know whether to go through with the call or not. The person told me to just hold on a second and the manager came on. He was very forthcoming and provided all these savings and free equipment, so it went really well at that point.
The installation team turned out to be one person and then the manager came because the mailer that I saw had a different system on it and I just happened to notice the installer was setting up an old-fashioned system. I expressed to him that I did not want that system because I already had a digital alarm system and that was when he went to talk to his manager and I was told that their digital equipment was brand new. The manager came out the same day. They were determined to install that new system. They did but they were missing some pieces because it was a brand new equipment and all the pieces weren’t in yet. They came back another day and installed it. I told them I needed a smoke alarm, so they brought it. They got everything together.
The technician that installed it was not trained on the equipment because it was new, so that was why the manager had to come out that night to tell him what to do and he had to call some people because he wasn’t trained. The manager left earlier, but the installer didn’t leave until 11:30 because the equipment was giving him trouble and he hadn’t been trained on it. Then, he cleaned up after. They’re very committed because the manager didn’t have to come out. I commend them on that. ADT was very upfront with everything. There are no hidden agendas so I will recommend them. It was a pretty good experience.
I like my cameras. I can see everything that is going on in front of my house. The equipment looks beautiful on the wall. Once the technician installed the second camera, I didn’t have any instructions so I called the technical support and they were phenomenal. They handled it immediately. I was supposed to get a VISA card. I haven’t received it yet but I'm very satisfied overall.

The ADT sales rep was okay. I told him I was a retired military, and he didn't really ask whether I was also a USAA member, which I am. Initially, I was not offered the discount that’s associated with USAA, so I kinda had to find that out on my own. Then I called the company, and they said they’d give me the USAA monthly discount for the service. But I shouldn’t have had to have done that. The gentleman who was here, as soon as I said military, should’ve been asking further about that.
I got a debit card which is a reward for getting ADT installed. The card won’t work and I can’t seem to sign into it. I tried to activate it and it doesn’t work. Also, we were supposed to get two $100 cards, and we only got one. Otherwise, the system has been functioning well. I like the security that it offers. We set it pretty much every night. For going out for just a short time, we might not set it, but we’ve been using it pretty regularly.

But then, it wasn't compatible with the panel, which I wasn't aware of in the beginning. I didn't realize that if I returned the doorbell, this whole panel would have to have been taken down and another one installed. That was the only complaint I would have. It was not mentioned at all. Car robbed in driveway No footage. I live in a bad neighborhood and was aware of that fact upon moving. The first thing I did was get a security system. While I now highly regret not doing more research. I had told the telephone sales rep that I need 24/7 video monitoring and he proceeded to tell me about the motion sensing. First off the motion sensing only does clips of 30 seconds. Is ADT trying to bring back VINE?! The alarm itself is only a high pitch noise that sounds like tinnitus but cant be heard outside the house.
Now, let's talk about being in a surprise contract! When I initially set up the install I had started a new job and had my mother present for the installation. Over the phone I was told that I am NOT under contract and that I just needed to pay for equipment and installation upfront. Due to my car being robbed and no footage captured I wanted to cancel my services. But surprise... surprise... THEY SAID I WAS under contract and that I signed at time of installation! Isnt that odd since I was not present during installation???? Therefore, the reason for the 1 star is poor quality cameras and dishonest sales practice.
Hello Catrina-
We're so sorry you experienced a burglary!
We believe in being transparent, that is why the length of the contract and penalty for premature cancellation is in bold font on the first page of all of our agreements.
Furthermore, ADT does offer video systems that record 24/7 and a siren to make your alarm louder or have it sound at an additional area. We'd love to discuss both with you at (888)-211-8563.

I wasn’t real impressed with the sales rep of ADT. First of all the ad was for 27.99, and that’s what I wanted to stick to. But he was just very persistent. He said, “Well if you're up it, you get two more sensors, and you get a fob." So he talked me into the 53.99 a month. But he wasn’t real clear on exactly what the price was and what I had to pay that day. How he explained it to me was it would be like 105 and some change. “But you get a $100 Visa gift card, so you’re really only paying like $5 and something.” I said, “Oh, okay. Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal.” Then he waited till the very end, after he had everything installed, “Well, you do have a prorated monthly rate that you have to pay today.”
I misunderstood and thought that he had said 173, but it was 100 and 73 cents. When I said 173, he went, “I didn’t say that.” And I went, “Oh.” He said, “$100.73.” He got cocky with me. I was just about ready to tell him, “You know what, get your ** out of my house.” I was not happy with him at all. But now, I’m stuck with the system and I still haven’t gotten my Visa card because, with the way everything is, I have to download it and I don’t have a computer.

ADT is decent. I had another one in Texas, and I wanted something a little closer to home. The guy that came was fine. They put up four door alarms and a panel, and that was it. I'm getting used to the system still. I've set it off a couple times on the week that they had it where they weren't calling. It was in the set up period. I just used a keychain to turn it off and on and that way, I wouldn't mess with it and make a mess of it.

He said that once the contract’s up, everything is mine. Also, at the end of the three years, prices go down if I decide to stay with them. We’ll see what three years brings. My experience with the sales rep of ADT was good, but there was a lot that was misleading. I got a feeling that I didn’t get the deal that I thought I was getting from the sales department to what I was actually charged, but I needed the system, so I went with it. The installer was outstanding though. I work nights, and so I was in a hurry to get him in and get him out and so I could go to bed, so I could work again. He demonstrated to the best that he could in the short timeframe that he had.
However, I got a notice from ADT that said that my video is filled up, and so now, it's not recording anything. I didn’t know there was a limit. I went through, and I thought by deleting all the video clips that were there that that would open it back, but it hasn’t. It said that I've reached my limit for the month. And that’s not good. Also, I've got myself and two roommates and we have key fobs for all three of us. Now, I can operate the system off my phone because I don’t want them to have that app on their phone. But when they disarm or arm the system, it tells me that I'm disarming and arming it. There's supposed to be a way of assigning, “This is Jim’s and this is Tasha’s.” I have no idea how to do that.

I got fed up with the company I had before for the last four years and I called on ADT because of their reputation. I’ve seen them around, I looked at their equipment online and I was satisfied with what I saw. The sales experience was great. The guy was knowledgeable, very friendly, very open and willing to answer any questions I had. That worked really well. Also, the equipment’s fine. However, the experience with the installation and still not knowing how to use the system correctly is a problem.
There were two installers. One of them was a junior guy compared to the other one. They came and got here late in the afternoon and stayed until they got it done, which was quite late in the evening. It was okay because we’re evening people anyway. Both of them were friendly. However, they were sloppy when they ran their wires. They drilled a hole in the wall high up so it could be seen. They ran the wires high up and then down to the receptacle for the power to the lights. I would have done it a lot different if it was me. And then on the other side of the house where they put the other camera in, they ran it along the floor. They didn’t string it up out of the way, so now, every time I go through there, I have to navigate past that cord because it isn’t even long enough to do anything with it. So, I’m not happy about that.
And then, they broke my wife’s planters and tried to hide it. Out in the front yard, she had a metal planter and the guy fell over it and broke the welds on it. They propped it up and didn’t tell us about it until we came out to see the installation. And then we said something about what happened here and the guy said, “Oh, the other guy did it and he had to leave earlier to take care of his daughter.” Wow! That’s nice! He should have been more careful. I have to find someone to re-weld that back together again.
A bit of after installation instructions on how to set these cameras up would be good. I still got the outside cameras that aren’t operating the way I want them to in terms of giving me an alarm for motion. I can see if something’s going on but they don’t give me an alarm. If I’m watching it, I see it. Otherwise, I don’t know if anything’s going on. That part is not good either. It has been a couple of weeks. Five minutes of showing me how to use it would save me probably an hour and a half or two of trying to figure it out online.
Hello Bill. We received an update from your installation company that they have tried to contact you and left a message. They are also goign to send you an email as well. Thank you. -Andrew

I had ADT but it was an older system. So, I wanted to upgrade back with them and to make their service active. The salesperson was good, but he failed to leave out something. The whole purpose of me getting everything hooked back up was the doorbell. I needed one ‘cause I had someone steal packages off my front porch. But when the salesperson explained to me that the doorbell would be free, he didn't explain to me that I had to have an active doorbell. I didn’t find that out until the guy came here to set it up. The salesman should automatically explain exactly what it was that they would need or to ask if their customer had what it needed to get that free doorbell.
I didn't have $250 more to even get the doorbell active. I called ADT back and the rep told me that she sent me the information for me to get the $100 for the inconvenience. But that still left $150 that I didn't have to be able to get the doorbell. I also would have to pay for an electrician to come out and give me an active doorbell and that would have been even more money. Other than this, the ADT service with the alarm is fine. Also, the guy who came here was extremely nice and I would recommend him to anybody to have him hook up the service.

I recently relocated my business on 4/29. I asked that the service at the old location be discontinued at the end of May when I started the relocation process. It is June 22 and they still have not discontinued the service. Not only have I been charged for the extra month, that I did not request - I also have been getting back to back phone calls that the system is offline at a location where there is not supposed to be any service in the first place. I have talked to several different people on three different occasions where a supervisor is supposed to be reviewing the recordings to see if I indeed asked for a discontinuation of service when I relocated at the end of April. There are several issues. First, an employee acknowledged that I did request a discontinuation and that there was supposed to be a follow-up call (which I never received). Secondly, NO ONE ever calls back after going to research the recordings.
At the end of the day, I could have chosen any other security provider, but after being with them for over 4 years and having used them for home security service- I decided to stick with ADT. I'm not sure why this has been such a difficult process and why no one will call me back. I do not like broadcasting complaints and I'd like to believe that all of this is due to COVID, but this is something that doesn't take much to resolve. All I want is for the system to stop calling me for a location that I am no longer at and to apply the money that I have already paid (I didn't know that they were billing me one month in advance) to my current account. Is it too much to ask for good customer service and an easy resolution process?

I had ADT a long time ago. And then I had got rid of it for a long time, and then I kept getting the promotion things in the mail. It was kind of misleading because I ended up paying $700 to get that thing. When I first called, the rep told me what I would get, and I told him I wanted something for my garage. He asked if my garage more than 300 feet from my house and I said no. And he said I should be okay.
I think it was either 800 or 850 in equipment. And he said, “I’m gonna put another 400 on there, and that’ll give you 1,250.” When the man came, I was asking him about the camera. And he kept telling me that I was already over with what the man that I talked to when I initially set this up. He told me that I was already $400 something over what I was supposed to get, and that threw me off then. But I wanted the camera, and then he told me I owed another $400 something. I ended up paying almost another $800 to get that system. And that was the only extra thing he actually put on was the camera, and I just didn’t understand that. But there’s so much going on now. I really need that system because I’ll be here a lot by myself.
Then the other thing that was misleading to me was it said I will get $100 Visa gift card. Then he told me, “You will get a check to offset the difference in the monthly fee.” He said, “Because your fee is $59 but with the advertisement, it’s 39.99.” He wrote a number down on a piece of paper. And he told me, “If you don’t hear anything within 30 days, call this number.” What made me call before the 30 days is over is I got a bill within four days after he had installed it. All of this here, it just threw me off. I don’t understand how I got a bill that fast. It wasn’t even two weeks or a week before and then I had got a bill, which is due on June 26th which is Friday. I asked the lady about the gift card. I had to fill out a paper to get the gift card. It wasn’t a good experience.

Due to the size of my house, he even took it upon himself to call his manager and see what we could do as far as package and deal to get me the best thing for my house even though it was a little bit over. He helped me thoroughly. He went over the program on my phone. He also went over to the keypad. He made everything very simple. Every question that I asked as far as what secures what and why would you wanna do this, he was very informed about the areas of why this is a higher risk area and these are lower-risk areas.
The installation went well. The installer was prompt on time and he was very swift in his work. Any questions as far as the surveying, went to overall look at the house before he started his installation. He seemed very manageable in his mind as to how it was supposed to go based on what he had to work with. I'm not a stand-over-your-shoulder type of guy unless I had a question, so I just let him just do his job, and then I just inquired about it as we went along.
He made it very simple. Not only did he just go over it, he also let me do it hands-on while he was there to make sure that I was fully understanding of what I'm doing and what I'm dealing with. I like ADT’s two separate systems and I researched the third online. I have another man in my home trying to sell me on a system that would've cost about 2,600 bucks. I’ve avoided them because it seemed like they’re out there, selling everything and covering everybody. Sometimes it seems like it falls flat being the Ford or the Chevrolet of the security systems. But then, it dawned on me that maybe they’re that for a reason. So, I gave ADT a call and within the next day, they had me hooked up.
Daniel and the other guy that came out had me up and running inside in three hours. It was awesome. Then, there was another camera that had to be installed and Daniel came out on his own time the following Monday and ran it and it was well worth my time. The total sale was about a touch over 1,000 and you can’t really argue with that. So much so, that I did a quick online search today for doorbell camera because I didn’t get that initially. It turned out that Blue, the company that I called, was through ADT. The person that I spoke with had absolutely no idea about anything. She couldn’t tell me how they were related to ADT or in what capacity, and I said okay. Blue by ADT is what it came up within the search. What my thought was maybe these are wired differently, internally, and they won’t sync with my Wi-Fi. But it’s a different company all together.
When I did get ADT, I was a little bit perturbed that this woman did everything that she could to tell me she couldn’t deal with me. So, I got a number from her that was directly ADT and I called them and the woman that I spoke with did everything that she could not to take my money. She was giving me some line about it being a new account and they couldn’t do anything with them. It didn’t make any sense to me. I wanted a doorbell ringer and I was gonna be leaving town soon. I needed to get it installed and they were telling me that they wouldn’t do it. They didn’t have a contract and it was still new. I wound up calling the carrier that installed it before and they’re gonna get me hooked me up on the 7th of July.
The quality of the equipment is great. I’m not one to read manuals all that often, but I do on occasion and I haven’t figured out yet how to disable the proximity alert so that the camera doesn’t always click on and I don’t always get a text. I don’t wanna disable the texting but I wanna make it so that if I’m home, maybe it doesn’t always pick up. The guys that came out here were cool but there was a lot going on. I was still trying to close out the workday so, if they showed me something, it got cycled under long forgotten piles of rock and it’s never gonna be found again.

Xfinity couldn’t install the package they originally offered to me due to the COVID, so ADT was a reputable option. Overall, the sales rep of ADT was pretty professional. The system works pretty well too. However, I wish it had some other features. I wish there was a way to automatically arm it at certain times of the night instead of having to do it manually every night. There are some flaws in terms of how I use it, but, overall, when I do unarm it if I go out-of-town, it's a good option for me. I'm satisfied with it.

I have two investment properties. One was broken into and appliances were stolen. The other one was broken into as well and the thieves were interrupted while they were trying to remove appliances and fixtures. At one place, I had just ordered a different product which had been delivered the night before. The thieves stole that product before it was installed. I needed something immediate and so I went with ADT. They made an exception and their techs went out a few days after I called and did my house.

I was switching from one alarm company to another one, so I wanted to make sure about the services I was getting. I talked with the boss person from ADT and it was very good. The installation was fine too. One thing I didn’t like was that when I called, they only told me I had to pay the $99 installation, but when I got there, I had to pay the installation and the first month. I just want them to be straight up. Don’t try to tell me one thing, like you’re trying to get my money and then, when the time comes, it’s something different. But the installer was good.

The sales representative didn’t tell me everything I should’ve known because it was a few things that I didn’t know, that they would charge me for that same month, that particular day. It was some stuff he said he thought he told me, but I know he didn’t. There should have been more interaction or they could have told me what was going on. Because if I have known I had to pay the 138 that day and they would turn around and take another $99 out, I wouldn’t have done it.
The contractor is another thing. The sales representative didn’t tell me enough because when the contractor came out, he asked me questions, and I said I didn’t know because the sales representative didn’t tell me that. The sales representative didn’t explain to me because I ended up asking them how much would the price be, and she said anywhere between 27 to 53. She should've explained the different packages to me because if she had explained to me what all I was getting and all of that, for that particular price, I probably would have went with someone else.
We used to have Spectrum. We had cameras and we had everything. So, we thought that we would get some similar to that or similar to CPI where some cameras or something would come in, but it wasn’t. We didn’t find out all these until after I signed, and it’s a three-year contract. So, I didn’t like that either. And he told me I had three days to cancel, but I didn’t see the other $99 and stuff come out until after the three days. They need to explain it in-depth.
My husband was on the phone, because when I scheduled the appointment, he didn’t have to work. But then, they made it to where he had to work. And to me, I would get more of my money’s worth with CPI. We were happy with Spectrum because we had our cameras inside the house, and it wasn’t a high price and we got a good deal. We didn’t have to pay all the money that ADT told us we had to pay in order to get cameras and all of that. If we had known all that, we would have went with CPI because we checked out all of them. But we figured that stuff came with it like all the rest of the security system.

And then, some other one came in and installed everything. We love the system. We usually use the app more than anything.

Price had a lot to do with our decision to go with this company and I really liked the guy who came to the house. I liked his personality. He was really personable and quick. We were happy with all that. So that part was great. I just need to learn how to use the unit better. We can't figure out the door chimes and it's so loud. I don't know if we can change that. There are also small things and tweaks that I'm like, “Oh, didn't know that.” I also didn't know what the monitors looked like before they were put in. It went too quick.
I'm sure the quality is good. I just didn't ask enough questions going into it. The guy did explain everything. I just never visually saw it. In fact, I don't know if I would have upgraded more had I seen the units because I'm not a super fan of them. They look very generic and plain, whereas the one in our old house was more of a screen. It didn't look so antiquated. I feel that even though we have an upgraded service, the pads are actually less attractive than the ones that we had from 15 years ago. I also didn’t realize that the monitor for the bedroom went by the bed. I thought it was a wall monitor. I didn't know that until the conclusion of it. So anything that happens is right by my ear and that light goes on as well. I haven't taken the time to figure out a better option for that either. So I need to do some work.
We haven’t used the system as much as we thought we would because of how the house is. We have three teenage boys and we joked that this is more to keep kids in than keep them out. So when you turn it on and have your chime on or your door alert on everyday, you hear it a lot all over the house. There are like 12 kids going in and out of here all day long with the neighborhood. So it's like front door, back door, other back door, side door, first garage and then second garage. I'm like, “Oh my god, why are all these people in the house?” Maybe I just need to get used to it all or the kids will go back to school and I won’t think about it then. But I'm still happy with the fact that we have the system and we feel safer having it. And the guy who serviced us was awesome.

I use the phone app which is easy, but disarming a window has a of steps. So, they can ease the use of excessive steps and make some changes. We don’t really have a lot of incidents around here, which spoke volumes about the community that I live in. It’s a safe place and it seems like ADT does their part to keep it safe. I like that they came and it was very self-sufficient. They helped set everything up the first time and I’ve had no issue since. ADT is also very easy to deal with. The system is non-functioning. ADT said they would give instructions on how to run everything, but they didn’t. They just answered a few questions we had and then left. And they put the doorbell camera in the wrong place. It doesn’t see who comes to the courtyard gate. We have wired the courtyard gate for the thing, instead of the front door. Greg was the one that came out. He’s a manager at ADP in Phoenix. I called him three times because he said he would come back out if the phone didn’t work and if we didn’t understand how the control went. But he hasn’t. I don’t know if he has cornovavirus or what, but he’s not returning our calls. I went to their website and the employees really like it there. They say it’s a good working environment. So, I just figured something’s wrong with him.
They have my money. One rep called and said, “You owe us $100 more than you paid. We’ll just take it out of your credit card number.” But I said, “No. I have to know what it’s for.” Because according to the man that called, the installation was all free. I will just pay for the parts. But I bought a comprehensive system and I did sign up. It costs me $60 a month for nothing now.

Everything with the rep was super simple and easy, and the rep explained the gist and that I wasn't committing to anything. I had the promotion so he explained the initial, but the specifics of all the different options, no. The technician who came and actually did the stuff did that part and was able to go in-depth about all the different things because it would be based on the house. He was really nice and very helpful for explaining what would work and not making me feel like I was pressured to do it because the original quote price was pretty high and it was a lot of knickknacks that I didn't need. So, he was really good at working at figuring out the specifics of what I needed and what would make me comfortable with having the video camera and the doorbell. He showed how to use the system and get it set up. He did a good job.
The only negative I had with that whole experience was after the part where they had to do the verification call. That took forever. But that wasn't him. That was other person on the other line. Also, the only issue I've had was a couple of days after the install, I got a bunch of errors on all devices that they were all low battery and weren't charging. But when I called support, they helped, sent out a technician the next day and he fixed it.

He was very friendly and he took his time to make sure we understood how to set it up, the sounds and all that kind of stuff, what to expect if the local police department is alert, and how to disarm it. He was very thorough. The installation went extremely well. We had had services in our home several years ago so the guy had some guidelines ‘cause it was already there. They said when I got a newer internet, the would lower the price. The contractor didn't know what he was talking about. I'm kind of ticked off about that. The small print on the ADT advertisement was misleading and talking to their sales rep was crazy. He didn't explain anything. He just said that when they come out, they would explain everything to me. It was very confusing. Then when the guys got here, I ended up paying more than what I had anticipated. I felt good about the installer but there was so much activity going on to where they pretty much had already set up my system. They hadn't put any of the devices on but they had set things up to be prepared to go on and do it. There should’ve been more conversation upfront about the price when they first came in the door and that didn't happen. They could’ve come in with paper and pen and explaining stuff before they even looked at my box.
I ended up dropping some protection on my windows. I was gonna put another keypad in my bedroom but I didn't get one because that was extra. I also ended up putting shatter-proof in areas that we thought would pick up the signal, so if someone would break in and shatter the glass, it would set the alarm off. I have a computer in my office. So I opted to put there versus putting one in the bedroom. I also have a shatter-proof glass thing for the living room area and then I have another one in the den. My guestroom didn't have one because that was extra. I would've probably put one in my kitchen area, too, ‘cause of the patio door there. These were an upgrade from what I had, but the way that it went about was shady. They told me that I could pay it in installments, but I had to pay it all right there. So I had to narrow it down because I wasn’t trying to pay that kinda money upfront.

The guy sold me wireless equipment but I didn’t need wireless equipment. When the installer came, he told me that they couldn't use the set up already in the house. He didn’t give me a good reason with me being new to security and unaware.
The installer was a very nice guy, but I don’t know if he was underskilled or not skilled, but underknowledged on what needed really be with the security that’s already set up in someone’s house. So that might be a learning experience that ADT needs to teach to their people. But besides that, customer service was very poor when I called about the situation. When I went online, it was widely available. I did not like that and didn't contact them. I went through the ADT proper when I was ready to commit.
The technician was courteous and was thorough in explaining what he was doing and providing me with options. Apparently, the sensors are new at under a month. They were still having experiences with it. It was tested in California and the weather there was different from here in Virginia. There's a lot more humidity here. The sensors are heavier than the previous ones and three days after it was installed, two fell off. They had to come back out, which was inconvenient. The sensors were going off like crazy and we needed to disable it. It took them about five days to be able to come out to fix the issue. For about five days, we didn't have any service. The guy that I had when I bought the system seemed like he knew his stuff. At first, they customize a plan on what they think is best for you. But when you sit down, talk about it, and you go over it, you'd think that you don’t need all that. That time, when we sat down, it was $2,500 and I told him that I couldn't do that. But he had everything there including the things with the doors, the thing with the windows, and the camera. I told him that we didn't need all that equipment, so we got it down to a pretty reasonable price, which was $1,200. He was really good and some people would have got impatient because I was telling him to take things off. He also said that if I need anything or something happens, I could call him and he gave me his cell phone number.
But ADT is really expensive. After I got them, I wanted to find somebody that was a little bit cheaper. So, I found some people that were cheaper with their equipment then I called to cancel my services with ADT. I talked to a manager and she asked if there was anything she could do to get me to stay. I told her that they were expensive, so she waived my third and fourth fee. At the time, some other place here out in Burleson said that he could give me the same equipment for $900 and instead of having to pay it all at once, I could break it down into three or six months, whatever is best for me. But when ADT's manager waived some of the fees, I was getting $1,200 worth of equipment for $600 and I decided to stay with them.
ADT should improve their process though. They’ve been around for a bunch of years and most people that I talk to say that they started out with them but they had to find somebody cheaper. Getting through paying for the equipment was the hardest thing. It was $300 every month for four months, plus your $56 that you have to pay for your monthly thing.

He told us everything and helped us out. He explained everything well. He showed us how to use it on the actual panel and then, how to do it on our phone. We like the performance and it works well. So, we’re happy with the experience in general. Everything has been good and easy to use.

My brother and his girlfriend have ADT and they are very satisfied with it. I see it advertised more often as well. I tend to go with what I see around and what I hear from people. ADT got a good recommendation. They have really good customer relations over the phone. The installation went well, too. It took them a little longer than what we and the installer thought, and that was because we were having trouble with getting a good signal out where we’re at. Other than that, everything went well. The installer was here between five and six hours, but we were satisfied with the timeframe. He went over everything very thoroughly, too. Now, all my doors are monitored. All the windows are monitored, and we have a couple of windows that don’t open so they have the glass break feature. We got smoke and fire alarms. We have them connected to the Fire Department.

ADT's rep was a very nice guy. I got a system from them with a doorbell camera. However, I don't completely understand how I'm gonna know if somebody comes up on my porch when I'm gone. I can look through the app but I was hoping I would get some type of alert. I want to be able to ask what they want or tell them to get off. When I get a ring, the system should alert my phone. That was the purpose of me getting the doorbell thing.

I wanted to switch companies because I don't have a landline. The ADT ad showed I would get seven sensors for free, which is fine, but I knew I was going to need three times that. It said the value of 695 so the sensors are roughly about 100 bucks apiece. But I'm counting them all up and I was really disappointed that they're they are actually $140 apiece. It was false advertising. One guy said they've had so many problems with that Valpak advertising. And I get that this is for a landline. I knew I wasn’t going to be paying 27.99. But it was very misleading. I'm glad they're pulling that.
It took three days to get things installed because the guy was doing it too late at night. Also, he put a hole in my wall. He had to come back a third time because one of the glass breaks was not going off correctly. But then another guy came out, which was fabulous, and he left and everything was up and running. But I still have a hole in my wall. I got an estimate so I could submit it. It was a hundred bucks and one guy said they really have to see it because people take the money and wouldn't have it fixed. They think I'm gonna leave a hole in my wall. But even for $100, I'm not going to jump through the hoops. I'm just really annoyed how they've treated everything.
Then, everything was working for about four days and then a sensor just stopped working because it's too far away. But it worked for a week. Another guy came out and said he would get back to me in a day or two and now it's been four or five and I haven't heard from them. It's the door right by my bed and I would really like it to be working as it was with my old system prior to switching to ADT. But other than that, I like that I can get it on the app on my phone. It’s nice. I have a guest house and they can undo it from outside and then use their key to get in in the morning. And when we leave all the time, we've all got it on our phones and we can lock the house up. If I go up north and somebody needs in, I can unlock it.

It was good dealing with the ADT rep and everything was smooth. After four days, they came out and installed it. The installer did a good job. When I'd delete some saved video clips, it would delete at that instant but if I'd close the app and come back later, the same videos that I deleted would pop right back up a couple of days later.

Everybody knows ADT’s the premier alarm company. The sales rep I dealt with was good and very pleasant. There were a couple of things though. First, I found out that you’re tied in for X number of years. I didn’t get that off the initial conversation but when the installation guy came in, he explained that to me. The other thing is I had the guy install the inside monitor so you can catch activity if someone is walking. I showed him where I had the original one I had in my house. It was in the corner and I told him that I needed it in the opposite corner. Instead of putting it up in the corner, he put it down at face level and I was like, “Why would he do that?” I didn’t even notice it until he left. I thought that was not appropriate. I hadn’t called anybody. I work for a living. I would think people would do what they’re supposed to do. Other than those, everything else works perfectly. I would recommend ADT to friends. It’s a reasonable rate.

First of all, they didn’t have motion detectors. They had other ones and exactly 12 hours from the time they put it in, it started buzzing. So, they came back the next day and put the motion detector. I thought there were about two, but they only put one in and said if I wanted the second one, it would be $237. I said, “Nuh-uh. I’ve already paid $74, and I paid you guys 50 something dollars, I just paid you another 100 and some dollars. I ain’t even got a monthly bill yet.” I wasn’t too happy with that part. I've had ADT for about three years and during those years, there have been about five times when I had a problem and called customer service. And two or three of the times, the individual asked me to take the unit on the wall apart and fix it. I said that there was no way I am going to take the system down and take a screwdriver to take the thing apart. I said that they needed to send a technician to address this issue. I discovered that each time, the issue had to do with a cell tower communication problem in the area. But I was really upset at being asked to do what a technician does.
On top of that, when the technician finally showed up, he indicated that there would be a fee for his services. I said, “No, there wouldn’t be because it’s your problem, not mine. I didn’t cause the issue." And each time, there was a little bit of an argument. My point was that I was only calling because the system they installed, which I pay a monthly fee for, was not working right. Eventually, there was some kind of message that was put in by the technician and I’m not sure whether they charged the 25 or not. The most challenging thing was that they had to replace each unit in each window and in each door all through my house, which is a three-storey house a couple of times. There are a lot of units.

I have ADT in my home at Odessa and nobody lives there. I have it in my house here in San Antonio too. I wasn’t impressed with the technician that came out. I was not sure if he knew a whole lot about the system. He kept telling me it was a newer system and then he told me how to do it. When I left to arm it, I hesitated that I didn’t do it right. I came all the way home and I kept thinking after, and I called ADT. I started talking to a gentleman named Alex at 9:30 in the morning and at 4:30 in the afternoon, I still got rotated to back to him. He said that he already spoke to me. They were just passing me on to the next person. Alex said that he would try to help me. It ended up being that the house was not armed so I had to go back to Odessa. Then the rep from Odessa called me, Tasha, and she helped me get the house armed. She was an awesome lady.
Then the alarm went off on a Saturday, maybe because there was bad weather in Odessa. But ADT thought someone had gotten into the house so they called me and I told them to send out the sheriff because I don’t live there. I was thankful that ADT called me about it. Then the sheriff had the wrong address and they went to another house. The sheriff’s departments called me and asked to verify the address. I was a little upset because I was not sure whose fault it was. I haven’t called Tasha to verify that ADT had my correct address.
When the sheriff called me back, he got the correct address, and then he went out to my mom’s house. He didn’t see where anyone was there or even any signs of break-ins and he locked the house. He truly believed it was the hail that happened to hit probably just right where the little alarm was set and it just made it go off. I thanked him and then I never called back to find out if once I do that if it goes back to being armed.

We just bought a house and were looking through some of our options online and ADT is a name brand, well-known household name for security. Someone set up to get a schedule. It was super nice. The person that I talked to originally at ADT went through the product and it was really easy initially. The guy was super nice and super helpful. Answered questions. But there was a huge discrepancy between what we were expecting as far as out of pocket that day from my conversation with the rep and what it ended up. All of a sudden there was a $6,000 number in front of us and so that was shocking and it was not real clear how it all added up.
Because on the phone, there was a special going on with the free equipment. I knew there might be a bit out of pocket if we chose to upgrade anything. When I was on the phone with ADT, it was like, “Oh, you get all of these things included for whatever value” or whatever the deal was and it’s $27 a month. Next thing I knew, that was not the conversation, like “Your bill is $6,000. You get a $1,500 credit and your monthly bill is $50 something.” I've been meaning to call. I’m sure it makes sense but I haven’t had a chance to look at it. I thought I would get a receipt or something and I was going to wait for that but I didn’t get that. And I’ve seen a bunch of charges from our card and I’m not clear on what those are for either. It has been messy.
And then we got the doorbell. The guy that installed it said we needed a new transformer and that’s why it didn’t work. So I went out, spent money on a transformer, got it installed, and the doorbell still doesn’t work. Here we are how many weeks later and I still am paying for a doorbell that does not work. Consumers should know upfront what things cost. That’s fine if there’s going to be a discrepancy of I’m expecting to pay whatever that I was told on the phone. All of a sudden, I'm getting a $6,000 number. How the hell did we get there? So being able to be a little more upfront about how much worth of products we could use any way we want and saying how that is going to be charged, and then when they come in for the install, walking us through what costs what and how it all went from very little to a lot.
It’s not the best time to have large expenses so that set us back quite a bit. We had to keep asking the rep what we were paying for and what we could take off until we got it down to a number that we finally were like we’re not doing this anymore. We just decided to pay it because we didn’t have three hours to talk about where money was going. We clearly can see the discrepancy and I got no answers. ADT should know who is representing them out in the field. It’s obviously not their fault and any conversation I’ve had with ADT has been fantastic, so I’m sure when I get around to calling customer service, they would either walk me through it or they would make it right. I’m not even worried about it.

Overall, the ADT system is not bad but based on how much I pay a month, it should come with more. I know of some other companies that are half the price with the same features, if not more. Also, they weren't very upfront about everything. When I signed up with them, they weren't very clear on exactly what I was getting. The sign said I would get X amount of stuff for a certain price and when they came, that was not the case. They should make it a little bit clearer when you're signing up on the phone that the customer is gonna have to pay for each window and each door. If I knew that ahead of time, I would have looked at other companies to use.
I also had a couple of other issues with them that they weren't really helpful with. I bought a camera from them and this was before they got their own cameras so they were using Ring’s. Mine is extremely outdated. It's one of the originals. It works but it's not clear. I called them up and asked if there was any way I could upgrade to a better camera and they said that's what I get for the price I pay. I told them I've had mine for almost three years and asked if they could help me out, like a swap or a trade-in, but they wanted me to pay full-price. My contract expires this year and I'm not gonna be renewing it with them.

My experience with ADT didn’t go well. I wasn’t satisfied with my service. I wanted to cancel out at 14 days, but they said I couldn’t cancel out due to me being in my contract for 14 days. But I wasn’t happy. The sale representative that came out to my house to hook up my equipment, he installed my system, and I told him that I would like the camera. He said, “Okay. Fine. But, you can do it later on.” I said, “That’s cool.” So, when I called back later on, they were telling me that I have to pay a 200 some dollar installment fee, but that was not what I was told.
That was the only option they gave me. So, I’m stuck there with no camera. But my friend has the same equipment. She has a doorbell camera, and she paid the exact same thing that I paid. I understand my bill would have been a little bit higher ‘cause due to me having a camera. But they were telling me I have to send out a technician to install another one, to pay a 200 and something dollar fee. They were like, “Your friend has to pay the $200.” She didn’t have to pay for that. I was there the whole time when she was getting hers installed. She paid the 107, and then it was 179 in all ‘cause of the pre-month payment and the next month’s payment.
Then I was trying to call some people to try to get it resolved. I told them, “You can come and get your equipment because I really don’t want it ‘cause I’m very unsatisfied.” They were like, “We can’t do anything about it right now because you’re 14 days out. Did you not pay attention to the recorded line?” I said, “I do understand that, that I did agree.” But when I talked to the representative that came out to my house, he didn’t explain it to me that I have to pay another $200 fee. ‘Cause if it was like that, I would have got it all at one time. He was like, “It’s fine. You can just call anytime, and we’ll come out and install the camera.” And that was what I was thinking. I called several people at ADT, they said, “You agreed to it.” I was just so excited because I got approved. ‘Cause CPI turned me down. And I kept getting ads on my phone like, “You're getting a free camera." But I didn’t get my camera. It’s just a bummer. Like why can’t they do anything about it?

The first installation of ADT's system was pretty bad for us. A week after 4My grandson shut the back door and the monitor piece fell off. The tech had to come back out to screw it to the wall. They need to do that instead of using skinny double-sided tape. Still, customer service has been fine so far at addressing my concerns.

The home that I purchased already had an ADT system in. So, instead of pulling that out and going elsewhere, I called them. Everything was affordable and everything went well with my experience with the sales rep of ADT. He gave me the information that I was requesting and got me quickly scheduled for the install. Install went well. Everything was installed correctly. I've had no issues with the system since the installation. The guy was very knowledgeable and did a very good job. I have the two interior cameras and outside camera, the doorbell camera, and the keyless entry. The system is also very simple to use.

We have an ADT panel already in the house, and we know that they were one of the only ones that called the police. I wanted to have that direct contact with emergency if need be. We have the breakable glass for all the downstairs. We have five door sensors. The one thing that was cool is that we have an unattached garage, and he put one out on that. Even if somebody comes out here, we will hear it even though it's not connected to the house.
The system is going well. We arm and disarm them using the smartphone most of the time. But we need to have somebody come out. We've had issues with two of the doors where the sensor completely fell off. Now, it shows the back door is not shut. And we've had an issue with the garage door also. It's periodically going off. It's weird because it just happened yesterday and we were going to call them.

ADT is great and when I talked to the people on the phone, they seemed to have the best deal for me. The sales rep seemed great, but when the installer came over here, it turned out that I was being greatly deceived. I was told that I’d get certain products and I’d be paying a certain amount of money a month, but that wasn’t the case. I was told that I was gonna have to put a couple of thousand dollars down and that the monthly price that I was told was only in the case if I had an inline home phone, which I was never told about.
The installer explained it fine to me and when I told him that I wasn’t comfortable because I felt like I was being completely deceived by ADT, he was able to talk to somebody to honor whatever the guy on the phone said. At that point, I still felt uncomfortable with going with ADT, but I felt pressured like I was wasting the installer's time. Even though I ended up not wanting ADT, I decided to go ahead with it because I couldn’t get the guy out of my house without saying that I was gonna get it. Now, I am stuck with ADT for three years. I like that if I wasn’t here and a fire broke out, the system would call the authorities. But the sensors keep on falling off my door.

I chose ADT for their reputation and the system is really good. The sale was a little heavy-handed though and they were rushing almost. It felt like we were going over what deals the company could provide me and it turned into not being able to save it into the computer when I hang up, so I might not get all the stuff that we just talked about. Then, in order to lock in the quote, I had to pay for the installation, which would then be refunded if I decided not to go forward when the installer came out. It seemed very forward. But the scheduling was very easy and they seemed very open. Within a day, everything was essentially in place and the installation went smoothly. I’m fairly happy with how everything turned out.

I called the 1-800 number and I talked to a nice gentleman who sounded like he was somewhere in the Midwest, so that was a good experience. I was told that my equipment would be free and all these other stuff. They got here and I was billed for this, that, and the other. So, the actual installation was not what was discussed on the phone. I’ve known about ADT for a while since there were commercials on air and those commercials advertised that they have $28 a month but I’m getting charged 59 so I’m not happy about that.
The contractor was the worst ever. This guy was doing the installation and I explained to him exactly where I wanted my cameras. When it was done, one of the cameras was not working and I told him that. I’m an avid tech person, so I could figure stuff out. But he had another appointment, so he said to give it 30 minutes. I said that I could give it two hours and it was not gonna matter. It was not working. He said he could come back. I told him to get it done right then and leave my house. I have precondition issues so I was already very apprehensive about installing the system, but I wanted it because I’m living by myself and I really wanted the ADT protection. But he didn't fix it.
Also, when he installed some of the wires, I said it wasn't a good place to install it. His response to me was, “Why? Why not?” I said that it was not where I want it, so that’s why not. So, he was a little upset because it was cutting into his time of going to his next job. I said to him that I’m an academic counselor and if I’m running overtime, that’s on me. I don’t take that out on the students. I approach every student and they get my 100% undivided attention. I service their needs until completion.” I don’t say that they gotta go and that I have another student. I service who I’m with when I’m in the moment. He should not be concerned about the next job. He needed to complete his first job.

Our house had a different system already installed but it was deactivated, so we were looking to have it reactivated. But when we went ahead and called, we were surprised at how expensive it was monthly. We had seen ADT signs around our neighborhood and decided to call them. They were willing to give us a better deal for a brand new system. I spoke with a sales representative and he got me in contact with a promotional manager and they were able to get us a promotion. There was one promotion they were offering during the pandemic and it was really easy to get it sorted out. We made an appointment and they came later that week to install. My husband told me that they had to remove the old system before installing a new one. The installation took a couple of hours and it went well.

One of the individuals who inspired me to get ADT was my middle daughter ‘cause she and her husband had it in their home. We had a different company and since then, their price has gone up but they left. We’re still with ADT but I hope it doesn’t move any higher than what it is with everything else we have to pay for.
One of the challenges I do have and I spoke to them about it is that they don’t call anymore. What they do is send text messages if the alarm goes off. I tell them I’m not a millennial. My phone goes off at 10 o’clock at night. When I was away and the alarm went off, I didn’t find out until the following morning. Another company I was with used to do that but they also call. I wish ADT has access to do both. Other than that, I’ve been very happy with ADT. I enjoy it. We've had it for 3 years now and we’ve had no complaints. We just had another room added onto the house, and they’re gonna be coming out to install something on the door and on the two windows.

I called a break-in into my home. And after that, I installed the ADT. The installation process went fine. But the bad part for ADT is that the signal is not reliable, at least not in my area. So, sometimes, I don’t get service at all. That is a bummer. It’s on the ADT's end because they are not using my wireless anyway. They are using some other signal. Initially, I called them twice, but they said some power may have some weak signal, which they cannot fix. Apparently, they cannot fix either.
ADT is not the cheapest on the horizon. There are other options, which I’m thinking about right now because my contract is already expiring. But on other hand, ADT has a better brand name. That’s a good thing. So, at least that if you have the brand, you have some kind of peace of mind. That’s the reason I’m stuck with this. I hope they can resolve those signal issues but the rest are okay.

I'm an HVAC technician and I talked to a lot of my clients. All of them preferred ADT over pretty much anywhere else that they’ve used. When I called to have everything set up, it went really great. Everybody was super friendly and nice. That made it very easy to talk to them and come to a decision. They had all their options laid out for me and if they didn’t know something, they'd ask somebody for an answer. They had the manager come and clarify some questions up for me, which was nice. I like that instead of people just trying to guess.
My brother oversaw the installation of the system and he said the technician was super friendly. I live in an apartment complex and my neighbor kept on staring the technician down and making him feel uncomfortable. However, he was really professional and did a good job of installing all the equipment. I still can't use my system properly because the motion sensor and the window sensor keeps on going off for no reason. They said they were gonna have a technician call me to get it fixed, but that was about two weeks ago, and I still haven’t gotten a callback.

My experience with the rep of ADT was great. It was top-notch. The rep was very professional and very friendly. I couldn’t have been more impressed. The first thing we talked about was what I was looking to do, and he talked me through my options. The installation went very well, too. That guy was extremely good and very helpful. We walked my property and through my house and figured out exactly what we were gonna put in. He was also extremely neat like everything that he did - the cables were well-hidden. I was very impressed with him. My wife and I had a little learning session with the panel and he brought up the app on our phones. We went through all of that.
The system was intimidating at first. There are also some things that I’d like to be able to see on my phone app that I can only see on a laptop. But outside of that, the phone app’s very user-friendly. If I’m out and away, I can check my cameras real quick. Everything is working well. We’ve had one of my sensors disconnect a couple of times, but we’re pushing the boundary of how far the Wi-Fi can extend out as where the sensor is. It’s out in an outside shed. So, I’m not too worried about that. It comes back pretty quickly.

He stayed out here until 11 o’clock on a Saturday night, until we told him he could go home and come back another day and finish it up. He got most of it put in. He didn’t get the cameras installed that day. But he showed us how everything worked and I was very impressed.
There's just one little thing we don’t like about our system, we can't lock our front door without it arming away. We gotta bypass it. We lock, we turn it off, and then we arm it to stay. But I had him set it up that way because I've got a 14-year old boy that when school starts, he’ll be going by himself. So, when he locks that door, it automatically sets the alarm. I don’t trust my boy to remember to set the alarm.

Just as I was looking, ADT had a special promotion and I decided to go that route. I asked if I could get it installed earlier and they were able to accommodate me. The technician that came in and installed the system was very knowledgeable. He adhered very well from a safety standpoint, with COVID going on, kept the proper distance, and wore a mask, as we did. After the install, there was a lot of time spent about the application and how to turn things on and off. He spent a lot of time in terms of how to use the system in three or four different types of scenarios. You're home, but you want an alarm, you're leaving at the day where your dog’s at home, versus night, where your dog’s with you. He did a very good job in terms of explaining the scenarios that were in line with the way that we choose to live or move about the house.
I think the key thing is, just from a safety standpoint, even though it's on the phone, having that extra level of comfort by having the fob close to you, both entering and exiting, or when you're sleeping, is important because let's say you forgot to turn the system on, but you hear something or you hear someone break in, you still have time with the fob to be able to hit the panic button. Overall, it was a positive experience. In the last two weeks, everything's been working perfectly.

But when you have an idea of what you want, you just like to get it and move on so I can get back to my day. Also, I’m asking him to be a technician and a salesman all in one person. That’s asking a lot. He was a new guy, and he got his supervisor on the line, and so, the price was the price. The only thing is I’ve been having a problem with my cameras going offline because the equipment is getting too hot. So, the guy who I spoke with sent someone out. He didn't understand why it was going offline.
The technician showed my daughter how to restart or redo the doorbell camera, but he said that I may need to change it out if it continues to go offline as much. The direction is beaming straight on the doorbell at times with the way my house is set. So, the only issue that I have is it’s not really recording like it should and it’s going offline where I can’t see anything for quite some time. I have multiple sensors on my windows and doors. I have the panel, the doorbell camera and I have a camera too in the front of my driveway. So I was very unhappy with that part of the service. I was trying to ask for equipment prices but they wouldn't give me prices, and then they said a technician will come to give prices because I said I wasn't ready to make a decision. But when the technician came, he was under the impression he was already installing the equipment and I had to let him in my house and go through everything. When I said I was not ready to make the purchase, he stayed in the car. But the technician who came was very helpful. It was just the salespeople that I dealt with on the phone that I didn't like.
The technician didn't put much pressure. When I said no, he actually was leaving and then some other salesperson called me and was trying to convince me over the phone and offered a discount on the equipment. At that point, they already wasted three hours of my time so I said, "Sure." But then after he installed it, I found out the monthly price was $53 but they told me on the phone that my plan was $30. But I am happy to have a security system. I need it. I was already tempted to buy it but I kinda wish I wasn't pressured and also kind of misinformed and eluded to certain things.

I had done business with ADT years ago, and I probably forgot, and we got them back again. I'm not too happy with the service, I prefer to just go on and buy me a security system because I need my peace. My peace means more to me than the chaos. My sensors, I went to a whole lot when my batteries ran out. Then, the guy came out. He wanted to charge me for the batteries and for the visit, to come out here. I said, "No. This is your equipment. That was the purpose of me when I got with you guys." When my alarms kept going off before and they needed to switch the battery, I had to go through the whole weekend and I said, "Oh, no, they got to go."
I refused to pay so I called the people and they said I didn't have to pay for it. It's just the principle of it all. Then every time something goes wrong, if I'm gonna have to pay a visit call for them to come out here just to fix their equipment, I don't need them. When he got to, I told him he moved my motion sensors and then, the lights didn't come on. I had lights on my motion sensors, I can walk through the house and they come on. He told me they don't have any lights on them. There is no such thing. That really teed me off.
Then he called some other guy, and some other guy came. He claimed it was his supervisor and he told me the same thing. I was so overdone. So then, when I talked to them this last time, I had told them I wanted to cut my service. Then, they kept putting me on the phone with different people, then I talked to this guy, and he just kept on and on, and he tried to convince me into getting a camera. I've always wanted a camera and he talked me into that.
Then when it came time for them to install, the lady called me and she asked me if I have internet, that should have been asked upfront. I have internet with AT&T. But because I don't use it, I don't know how many megabytes I have. Then we went through that, then she tried to have me do it on my phone and she said it didn't appear that I had enough megabyte. I said just cancel it. She said, "They’ll come out there and check it." I said, "We're not even gonna go there. Because one thing about them, they'll come out here and they'll put that thing in and they're not gonna work." I said I don't feel like going through all that.
I said, "If you said it doesn't have enough, then it probably doesn't have enough." She said they'd come out and check it first. I said, "No. Just cancel that but come out here and fix my motion sensors. I ain't seeing anybody. They don't even have to bother." She told me, "They can’t break in your house.” I said, "First of all, the only thing that's covered is the doors. If somebody comes in the window, the motion sensor doesn't work. What good is the door?" I have enough that I can trip over from A to Z. I don't need to have to be tripping with ADT too.

The service of ADT itself is great. They’ve been really responsive when the alarm has gone off. But I've been less than impressed with their equipment. There has been a lot of malfunctions with the sensors and the one on the back door keeps popping off. So, right now, I have to keep bypassing it, and I don’t wanna pay for another fee to have them come out and fix it. They could use higher quality equipment. And having to pay a service fee every time they come out to check on it is a little ridiculous. If their equipment is malfunctioning I shouldn’t have to pay for that.
But the functionality and performance has been good. The one sensor on the garage door is the one that we had that was malfunctioning at first. They couldn’t give us an answer as to why, but they said that it's really common on the garage door when you use it on the bay door. Since they come out and fixed it, that hasn’t been an issue. But I also don’t set it nearly as much now as I used to because it's gone off so many times.

My husband passed in March and because I was a widow and living at home by myself, I needed protection. I picked the system back up in July and when I added it back, I was quoted one price and I was promised a Visa gift card for $100. But I never got the Visa gift card and the price I was quoted was incorrect. They told me they had to add additional fees because I lived in Detroit and that that was beyond their control. I’m paying almost $56 a month. The only thing I got was the monitoring and it seems to be working fine. I set the alarm and I haven’t had any problems. I left the installation guy to do his stuff for about 45 minutes and he was done. He left me with a little pamphlet in case I needed to refer back to something. There were some door sensors, window sensors, and a key fob but it was really expensive to do the smartphone feature. We were able to get the fee down to like $28 a month. He said for us to have the phone feature, we need to have AT&T wireless service built into the panel. If we opt out of having the app, then we don’t need to pay for it.
These days, everybody has or wants to have that kind of feature. That’s something that kinda needed to be built into everything that’s happening, or at least they could be a little more clear when they advertise ADT is $20 a month. You think that's cool but then you find out it's like $50 a month if you want the app. They explain they have to pay AT&T $15 or $18 a month in order to have a wireless service to our panel. How would I possibly buy the service without doing that? Nobody has a home line anymore. They're lowballing in trying to get people in the door, but I can't really have the alarm service unless there's a way for somebody to monitor it so I'm gonna have to pay that fee no matter what.

Then they scheduled a date, a gentleman came out, and just looking at him do the testing, I feel bad for him because every time he called, he was put on hold and they couldn't help him out. He had to call back. It made him be at that facility longer than necessary because of the customer service, and him trying to get the authorization he needed to do. I didn't like that.
Talking about the free $99 Visa card, It was not a problem. What they didn't explain was when you get to the customer’s house, you pay the $99. The gentleman worked up into that point, get your information, and you pay for the services. Then he continues to do whatever next phase he does. When he's done, then he calls for the lady to go over something similar to, "How is the service, ma'am? This is the day" and all those other good stuff. What they didn't and failed to do was to say, "Oh, and by the way, the card that you may use today, we're going to charge you June month that they install it, we will prorate that. And then also for July, we'll have that in advance." It won't be a problem but that was what they failed to explain.
I'm a professional. I do training and development before I retire in the banking industry for 25 years. I had a serious problem with that. Some people don't have that type of money. They didn't communicate it to the customers when they get to their home. I didn't like that kind of stuff at all. Then, they give you numbers to call someone about additional concerns about when you pay the money and all the other technical things like when the service is put up. I didn't like any of that, too. The only reason why I kept it is because of the nice representative that installed it. He kinda made up for that. I would still recommend ADT because of the actual person that installed because it's not his fault and also because of the effort that it took for the whole company like the hardworking individual and customer service.

The rep of ADT was pleasant over the phone. He seemed like he knows what he was talking about. But if I could have gone back a month, I would not have signed up with ADT. The installation took a lot longer than I thought. Things were not as advertised as well. ADT advertised this and that, and you get free this and you get free that. Nobody said that it's only if you do that then. It's also very misleading that the prices are not advertised.
It would have made my life easier if those were information that was given to me over the phone when I was making the appointment. I knew that once the installer came, I'm looking at a $1500 installation. But ADT advertised free installation and $99 Visa card back. And you think, the installation is free and you're paying for the equipment. But no one tells you the equipment alone is gonna cost thousands of dollars and it's not free installation.
What bothers me the most, it was the manager who called to make sure that things were okay because when the installer was done, he needed to let his manager know that everything went fine and let him know how I feel. If I had spoken to that manager at the beginning, I would have been like, "Everybody get out of my house. I don't wanna do business with you guys."
We were doing this in a rush because it was the entire day and we had to finish. The guy was here at 9:00 and it was already 6 o'clock. I needed to leave the house. So, when we called the manager and he said, "Do you have any questions?" I said, "Not right now, but if something comes up, I will call you guys." He said, "I rather you not to do that because then the installer will get a ding on his report card that means he didn't do his job right. So, if you have any questions please ask us now." I was like, "What the heck?" That was fine if I could say, "Just take everything off and leave my house," I would have. But it was too late. So, it just left a very sour taste and I would not recommend ADT at all to anybody. But the installer was trying to work it out and give us a great experience.

I heard about ADT through a friend. The enrollment and installation were okay. I like the security of having the system.

I had ADT a long time ago. I had Comcast at first and they were just too high. So, I just had another company. I like everything about ADT and their sales rep with my recent purchase was excellent. The installers were also fine. They did it all in one day.

The sales rep from ADT was very helpful and thorough. He came to my house and installed it at the beginning of June. It went well and it was done quickly. All the sensors got installed and there were no issues with the installation. I’m familiar with ADT and it seems standard. Plus, I like the app, which is convenient. I called ADT for the internet because we got a new router but the system is working well.

Installation of our ADT was good and easy. Because there is an alarm, we could sleep not thinking, “Is somebody coming in?" We feel safe. The app is also way better because while I’m lying down I could just arm my system or disarm it. I don’t have to go out to the panel.

I had ADT prior to the flood we had in 2016 but I had everything disconnected because I had to redo my house. I had it back in 2017 and I've had it since. The installation was a little easier than I thought. I have the basic package and to me, I pay a little too much. It's slightly pricey but it's okay. Not too long ago, my son went home and he set the alarm. He didn't do it correctly. I called immediately and told the lady I knew it was my son and to not send the police. They are reliable with the monitoring.

My ex-girlfriend had ADT and she referred me to them. They're a little bit pricey, but I'm fine with that. My experience with their sales rep was very good because the young man and I had something in common. He was from California and I was from California. In fact, I coached against him when he was in high school. With that in mind, he showed me the whole system and how it works. He did not show me all the fine components of it but he gave me enough to let me know how to get around it and how to do various things with it.
My security system has motion detectors on the windows and doors. There’s an alarm when you’re in the house by yourself at nighttime and there's another one when you’re away. I’ve had to use it a couple of times when I wasn’t aware. One time, someone was working on the roof up there and the alarm went off. I got a call from ADT and I had to go all the way home to see what was going on because they didn’t wanna the cops.

I’ve had S.C.I. for 15 years but when I got rid of my land phones, they said they had to charge me about $500 to switch the system over to cellphones. I thought I might as well look at a couple of other providers and I knew ADT’s reputation so I called them. The installer was excellent. He was here for about seven hours. We have a lot of glass in all the rooms and we got nine of those glass breakage features. Then we’ve got a motion detector in one of the rooms and key fobs. We’ve also got all the doors monitored. The installer also demonstrated how to work the equipment. But we’re kinda sure to forget them. We’re both in our 80s. In fact, I probably would need some help. We don’t know how to turn the camera on. I can do everything else but the camera.

ADT costs me more money than the other company, but ADT has some amenities there that I didn’t have with the other one. Tracie the technician came for installation and he was really good. He went fast. He told me where he was going or what he was doing, and it worked out all right. I’ve got one unit here I may have to move. I don’t like where it is but it’s no big thing. I might get used to where the alarm is. I’ve talked to the technician about it. He said just give him a call, he’d move it. I can also call customer service and just get an appointment.
I’ve been with my previous company for about nine years. When their battery was flat they charged you to come out and service them, anywhere from $50 to $100. But with ADT, it’s free since I’ve got that in my warranty, that came out every year. ADT has a better three-year contract, too. There are no repair charges or replacement. It’s in my monthly payments for warranty coverage, which I didn’t with the others. I also have that key fob to where I don’t have to punch in. I just leave and punch that and come back. I’ve been pleased with ADT. I’ll try them three years then see what happens.

Everything’s going well with my ADT. John, the rep, was very patient with me if I didn’t understand something. He went over it with me without an attitude. He made sure that I felt comfortable in the way he explained things. If I didn’t quite get it, he took the time out to do it even in a different way or hands-on. I’m pretty satisfied so far with my experience. The thing that comes on when it’s unarmed, it’ll tell which door. I have hardware on all three of my doors and sometimes it scares the hell out of me ‘cause there’s another voice. It’ll say, “Door number two,” and I’ll be like, “Oh, jeez.” If I’m in the house by myself and all of a sudden this voice pops up and tells me, “Door number three is open,” and I’m opening it but I’m not expecting a voice. Sometimes I’ll just look for this high noise. It takes some getting used to.

ADT's rep gave me the details and scheduled an appointment to have somebody come out very quickly. Everything he told me from a sales perspective was accurate in terms of how we moved forward. He had great knowledge of the product and seemed very professional. I was happy with it. And then, the installation was also great. The tech was a nice person, came and did it all immediately, spent a day at the house just moving it all forward. There were some hiccups with some of the devices not connecting that he had to come back out for, but got out pretty quickly to resolve that.
We have a little concern about some of ongoing service we’ve gotten so far, but it’s limited. We had a false alarm and essentially, nobody called us and no police arrived. Nothing happened except for the alarm going off. So upon calling ADT, they said that one of the numbers that they had to call was incorrect so they corrected that. We don’t know if that will work now, but not really clear why the other number on file wasn’t called and they said something about they changed the setting so that that should be called now. And at the time, we weren’t sure why authorities weren’t contacted. It might have had to do with us disarming the alarm after it went off for a minute or so, but still just trying to understand that.
We also need to contact them because there are some glass break sensors that are too sensitive that we’re worried would trigger false alarms when we arm the system while we’re at home. We want to have those trigger a countdown instead of immediately triggering the alarm, so we've got an opportunity to disarm it before the alarm goes off. But so far, ADT delivered what they promised to deliver, as long as they give me confidence that this is ultimately gonna work the way that I wanted to.
