I love ADT. Customer service is great and I can understand them. A couple of times we had problems with the sensors coming off or there was something with the batteries and techs immediately came in and fixed them with no problems. There was only one problem I had and this was just this last year. A service person came and I was the one that dealt with him. He treated me like a stupid woman and talked down to me. At that time, all I needed was some batteries changed. He treated me like, “Well, can't you do that yourself?” I was furious. I called ADT and told them about that. I gave them the service guy's name and told them not to ever send him to my home again because I won't let him in the door. Customer service said they would put a note in my file.

Last time, when my service went off several times, we weren't home. We couldn't figure out what was going on. It kept going off. It was saying problems in a certain area. We couldn't figure out why the system kept going off when nobody was home, but there was no movement. The thing went off twice. The police came out twice. I was on the military base 45 minutes away. They checked to see if there was any breach of the house. There was no breach of the house. So ADT reset the alarm. Before I got back home, it went off again for the same thing. I said, okay, then they turned it off again. By the time I got back home, my neighbors said it went off again. I went into the house and I turned it off. I still didn't know what was setting it off.
When we came home, my husband went to do a check. He was trying to go through what the manual says to go through, and then do a service check for something that was going on with the system. But he had a problem with the people. He spoke to one person but that person said they were not the people to talk to. He gave him to someone else. They had him on hold for at least 30 minutes and then they still didn't help him. So we had to do it ourselves, trying to figure out why the system was going off.

ADT has been wonderful and I was satisfied. I have it on my phone and I can punch it out on the keypad itself. It works for me. We left one day and we couldn’t remember if we’d set the alarm or not. It was a good thing that we had it on our phone and we were able to set our alarm from the airport. I haven't had that much contact with their customer service, but anytime I have, they always managed to correct that issue or help me out in any way they can. My husband called them one time. Techs came and changed our battery. ADT gives us a big peace of mind.

The way my house is, people can drive around to the back and not be seen by my neighbors. I decided that I was gonna have a security system put in. All I've ever heard about was ADT and they had a good name and good reputation so I went with them. It's been nine years. The performance of the system has been excellent. Every time I had to call in, they had the nicest people. I would not have anybody else but ADT.

ADT works. With the remote sensors connected to the windows, they're a little bit sensitive when the batteries go out. That's something we have to deal with. But, we've had a good experience with it. We've had some repairs done and those people have been good. The initial technicians, not so much. But it's been so many years ago. But, everybody's been reasonable. The equipment in our house is outdated. But it's all good and it serves our needs. We live in a rural area, so, it allows us to know when people are coming and going. The fact that we forget to set the alarm, we also can do that on our phones.
One complaint I have had over all these years is where they put the siren. I do not understand why they put the siren in this location. It's in the hallway to our kid's bedrooms. We have an old rectangle house and a ranch-style house. The kids are on one end and we're all the way on the other end. So when the siren goes off, we don't hear it. If they had moved it two walls to the center in the living room, we could have heard it. But the equipment's held up pretty well over the years. We're very happy.

Pleasantly surprised to get such a quick response from ADT because of this Consumer Affairs review. I got a next day technician to come out and check my system. Joe was very knowledgeable about my system as he checked it out before he arrived. He took the time to explain my sensors, help me with my settings and added a better security feature to help with the sensor problem on my back window. For me, I feel like I now have that added security with this system .

I was impressed by the fellow that came by to talk to us about ADT and we went with it. Upon doing my checking, I was thinking that what we were getting was standard but it was something that was going to be necessary. We got a fire alarm, a motion detector at the end of the hallway, and sensors on the front and back door and on our window in the den. Then, we got a free doorbell camera and an outside camera at the back door. I thought this is gonna be great. The other companies were offering what we got. We're paying a little bit every month for the equipment, but I'm thinking that ADT is a larger company and we're going to have better quality equipment. Unfortunately, it's not necessarily the case in some respects.
When the installer installed the doorbell camera, he knew how our original doorbell was wired and that this camera was going to need more voltage. Also, the doorbell rang constantly. We were trying to call people to ask how do we turn it off. It was constantly going in the middle of the night. We ended up having to get an electrician to put in a new adapter for the doorbell and rewire it. And because it sits so far in, we had to pay more money for something that we're really not getting used to. It's not as advertised. Also, the doorbell camera doesn't pick up anything, nor do the sensor and the driveway camera. But this one camera that we have inside our house that we got from BestBuy last year picks up sound and it's in color. Because we have that camera in our front window, we can tell that someone was coming on our porch. If I had the option now to go back to my regular doorbell and have that taken off, I would.
The outside cameras are great in the daytime but at nighttime, not so much. Then, the sensor in our large window did not go off when we opened the window. When we open the door, the alert will say, "front door" or "back door", and it should have said "window" but it didn't. The installer only set the sensor to one side so you can open the window to the outside. It's unfortunate that we're paying and we're in a contract for that. Our installer left garbage all over as well - the boxes and the equipment. We ended up cleaning up after him. I'm very disappointed with that whole process.
I've reached out to ADT but I didn't get the response that I expected. One lady talked to me for about 15 minutes and promised that she would see what she can do, especially for the electrician. She was going to check if she could get the sensor repositioned on the window. But there was nothing. I called back and nobody had any notes from the phone call. The one person that responded was the salesman. He was the one that told me about the electrician, who to call, and how to get it readjusted so it wouldn't constantly buzz. He apologized for the garbage and said that he was going to speak to a supervisor. But that's about it. We went with such a big company thinking that they've got this down and they've got the experience but unfortunately, they don't.
We're sorry about that. Are you still experiencing any issues? if you are, may we ask that you email AlwaysThere@adt.com with your phone number and the address associated with your system, along with a detailed issue description, so that we can further review and assist? We'll be sure to promptly follow-up.

I liked the salesman from ADT. Everything went fine with the installation. I'm just having a little issue with the alarm going off a couple of times a window, and they told me that it was no big deal. If it happens continuously, then they'll come out and check it out but it hasn't happened. It just happened a couple of times. It went about a week and a half. There was a problem and it set off the alarm and they sent the police out one day. The other day, they sent them out but I didn't authorize that because I was in Hawaii at the time and was nowhere near my phone. Other than that, the service has been going all right.

ADT had the best offer. You get more for your money with ADT. The representative I spoke with was awesome that was why I went with them. The installation technician was a very nice and respectable guy. My doorbell kept going off and I couldn't figure out what was going on. He had a job close to me, and he came back by and fixed the problem. He said, “Ms. **, if you have any more problem with it, if it don't stay charged, just call me back. I'll come back by.” The only thing is I called ADT but nobody ever called me back. I called and left a message. The camera has been out now ever since we had the bad weather about three weeks ago.

The service with ADT needs to be improved on severely. I still don't have audio on my cameras that I spent $2,400 on. Back when I had problems, I called them and this guy came out. He said it was working properly. I told him it wasn't. He left. That's how they handle customer service. He also wanted to charge me until he went back to my salesperson who told him I'm on the maintenance program, but no one came back. So, to this day, I still don't have my cameras working properly. The cameras themselves are working, but I don't have any audio. I'm not happy with that at all.
The sales guys kind of pitch and don't give you all the information that you need. They upsell themselves. Then once you get the product, you're kind of stuck with it. I'm paying $100 a month and I'm still not happy with my service with them. I was not happy with the service when they came out, supposedly, to help my cameras work. That guy was a complete jerk to me. He was unprofessional.

I like ADT a lot as long as people aren't unplugging the system. I have a couple of questions about the little iPad thing but other than that, the system is simple and convenient to use. It's good for my homecare client and he feels safe with it which is the most important thing. When it was installed, the first guy who came was really nice and helpful. He was pretty quick, too. We had a little complication with one of the security things when you go through the door where it would go off with the sliding doors because we have dogs and we're opening that door a lot. But a second guy came and replaced it, so it's been working fine.
At the time when they first installed the system, my boyfriend's health was not good and we were going back and forth to the hospitals. So, we didn’t really focus on the install. Then, when the second tech came to replace that sliding glass door thing, we reached out to him and he acted like he really didn't know anything about it. He never stayed long enough to show us how to properly work this whole system.
Thank you for the feedback and for joining the ADT family. We're happy to hear that everything is working as it should after the last visit.

Everything went smoothly with ADT. The alarm is a little sensitive, but it's fine. I called them to come back out because they put one of the fire detectors in the wrong spot. But I didn't have them come because they wanted to charge me. I was very upset with that and the rep I talked to wasn't helpful at all. I don't feel like I should be charged for them to move it. So, I'm waiting for my contract and then I'll cancel my service.

When my system was installed and I had to call the tech to ask him a question about something, he was weird with me. I upgraded my internet to try to support the system just in case because I wasn’t sure if it was going to be good enough to support it. They kicked back to the old system, the old Wi-Fi connectivity, which wasn't on there, so him and the internet guy went back and forth with it. Then I tried to call him to tell him that the system was not working and he said that he told the internet guy what to do. So, that upset me.
Also, I installed my box near my front door and I wished he would have said that the placement of that was not a good idea. But he really didn't go through all that with me. Other than that, he was good when he was here and once the issue on the internet got taken care of, everything else was working. Then, one of my cameras went out and I don't like the fact that I have to pay if somebody has to come check it. But ADT mailed me a new one right away and I got it working again. Aside from that, I need to figure it out on that app thing, so I can make sure I get how to properly operate the system, but it’s been working great.

There are other ways that are better and cheaper than ADT. They also need to get people who speak in English because I can't understand their reps sometimes. But it's a good company and they got a good product. When I open the door, it lets me know that somebody comes in the door. But I’m getting ready to change from them in the next 30 days. I found a better product where I can put cameras on my fence and certain areas. With ADT, you got to put the cameras to certain spots to monitor because they're not wireless. But you always get dead spots with cameras and these cameras from the other company, you can position them to those dead spots.

ADT technician installed the "security" units. A monitoring unit with motion detector, water, fire, and break-ins. The installed units failed in less than 1 year of service. A technician came to my home to repair the units in January 2022 and when he left my home he declared the system good to go and that I had to pay him a service charge despite the units being in place for less than one year. I paid the technician his fee. I left home and armed the system via my cell phone.
When I returned months later, the system was down. At no time did the ADT app indicate there was a system failure. After numerous phone calls to ADT which entailed longer and longer wait times. The longest wait was 20 minutes to connect. The operator hung up after telling me he was putting me on hold to research the issue. A fifth call to ADT and more wait time determined that ADT had ZERO knowledge of the system failure. The system was established on cell service, so ADT could ping the system for operational status at any time of day or night.
ADT wanted another fee for another technician to repair the system. I canceled service. Due to ADT having my credit card on file, ADT continued charging me for $53 per month which I must dispute every month. I put a stop payment option on my credit card. ADT used another merchant I.D. to get around the stop payment. The card had to be suspended, so any charges could be immediately determined. Plus, due to suspension, any charge on my card would be identified from ADT pulling another scam. I must call my credit card company every month to stop payment and dispute the new hidden merchant.
ADT is nothing more than a scam, so please please save your yourself and just burn your money. You will receive better service value from the fire burning your money. ADT provides no service, steals your sense of home safety, steals access to your credit card, and steals your money at every opportunity for scam technical "services".
To add to the annoyance, in order to submit this review, a receipt is required. However, ADT only provides receipt via docusign. In order to retrieve the document, you must click the SMS. My current phone number is not connected to that SMS, so I am NOT able to access the ADT receipt. No other option is given to access the docusign. AVOID ADT AT ALL COSTS!!!
Hi Robbyn! We show the system tested monthly and verified proper workmanship during this time. If the internet or command features went down during this time, it would be noticeable via the app. If the internet goes down, the system will still communicate as signals are sent through a cellular network. Our teams are working hard to effectively and efficiently handled each and every call with care. I have had numerous problems with ADT (overbilling; false alarms; useless conversations with the CHAT function; visits from technicians who carry no repair equipment; appointments with technicians who do not show up because "they were accidently not scheduled for you today"). I just spent an entire afternoon waiting for a technician and when I called to check in was told that I wasn't on the schedule because they accidently didn't book a technician for me. They never called to say that, so I just wasted my day. I had another appointment last week and the technician showed up at the last possible minute, so another appointment wasted. There seems to be no real customer service where you can talk to someone who can actually help you.
Hi Wendy! Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us regarding your concerns. We greatly apologize for the troubles, and issues caused by the system, and with scheduling service. We do show that you are on the schedule for an o site tech on 6/30 between 8 and 12 noon. We look forward to arriving on site, and working to resolve these concerns quickly. Thank you!

We're quite pleased with ADT. At a time when we really could have used it, our Ring doorbell had gone dead. It was not available when I was assaulted on my front porch. So that was kind of a wakeup call. We were still fairly new to the whole thing and weren’t quite paying enough attention to it. Now, we are much more diligent about that. There are still a number of things that we need to become more familiar with. Otherwise, it seems like everything works well.
The prevalence of ADTs presence in the marketplace and the decent reviews that we had read about it convinced us to go that route. Their installer was really good and very thorough. We have the ADT booklet. It's not tremendously useful. There's some language in it that doesn't make a whole lot of sense to the layperson. The biggest thing was I was able to program in an alternate user when we had to have a dog sitter overnight. It's pretty easy to do that, and everybody pretty much understands how it works.

The ADT sales guy that I had was great. The technician that I had was also great. The support afterward was kind of dicey though. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. There was an issue with the setting on something and the support wasn’t great. I called the sales guy and told him to come to fix it or take it out, and he told me how to fix it, and I fixed it. As far as the system, it works about 98% of the time. I haven't had it go out or malfunction. When someone walks past the sensor, it’s supposed to tell you that someone’s there, and every once in a while, it doesn’t catch them but the next camera does. When I arm it, I get 50 notifications at night because a bug flew in front of it, but I’d rather it be overly sensitive than underly sensitive. So, I just put it on silent.
Overall, my sense of security has definitely improved because I get better visibility around the house and nooks and crannies for my kids. The cameras are very good. The only issue that I have with the cameras is the voice function. When you talk through it, it is not very loud at all. I wish that it had a better microphone on it.

I had two residences I was getting alarm systems in, and in both residences, ADT said that I had to pay for a locksmith when they put in the remote locks. But at neither time was a locksmith provided. Then in one of the residences, they couldn’t put in the remote lock. So I had to wait approximately four months before it was finally taken care of and a locksmith actually came out. They charged me $75 on each occasion for having a locksmith that never showed up. So I was very, very vexed with ADT. I was looking at other providers because it was a problem.
Some years back, ADT raised my rates without notifying me and they were charging my card. So we got rid of the alarm system. Then I got it again when I started caring for my dad because I wanted the remote locks and the cameras. When I gave ADT a second chance, I contacted the Better Business Bureau because they were charging me $75 for something that they knew they weren't going to provide.
I live in Port Chester, which is in Westchester and my dad’s house is in the Bronx. When they came to the Bronx, it was two installers. The guy that came to Port Chester was one of those guys. So I knew he wasn't a locksmith because both of them told me they weren't locksmiths. So I knew that I was being billed for something that I wasn't actually getting and that was a problem.
After I complained a couple of times, they told me that they gave me back the $75. But that shouldn't have happened in the first place. If you say you're going to do something, you're going to bill me, which ADT did, then I would think you would provide the staff that you said was going to be there. Also, it wouldn't take four months to facilitate it, of me calling multiple times. There were also times when they were supposed to come out and I took off from work, but no one showed up. After I called the last time to make sure a locksmith was assigned, they had a tech but no locksmith. So then, I had to call. It was an arduous, crazy journey dealing with ADT. I would not deal with ADT again.

I recommend it to everybody. But, the bad thing about it is, my cameras were installed and they're not exactly where I wanted them. I was at work when it was installed.
I called ADT and they want me to pay 400 and something dollars for them to come out here and redo it. They should have somebody come out here and move it. A lady called me from somewhere, I told her the same situation and she said the same thing. I was like, "That's unfair. I'm not gonna pay after I paid so much money for them to install it." The lady also said that she'd have somebody call me but nobody has called me, not one time, about it. Also, that four-year contract is wrong. Four years is a little too long. I think it should be year-to-year. But it works well. I just thought I would be able to see it on my phone, but I can't, because of the WiFi.

We weren't 100% satisfied with the installation and we didn't like the way the system was set up. We didn't like the cords in the house. The tech said that it was the only way the system could be set up but since it's been put in, we've had nothing but problems. The camera over the garage never works. We've had a technician come five times and they've told us it's because of where it's at. We've moved our modem and increased our internet speed. We've done everything they've asked us to do. We continuously do not have the front camera work. They've even replaced the camera, and the camera still doesn't work.
Also, I keep having to get my automatic payment set up because they keep saying that my bank rejects their payment, even though my bank doesn't reject any other payment from any other financial situation I have. Even after I got off the phone to set the automatic payment set up, I get a text message that says for me to call and set it up. Then, they tell me that I have to pay $1,000 because my automatic payment is not set up and I have to pay the full price. Everything is irritating and frustrating. We tried to cancel it and they tell us we have to pay $400 because the controller box works. So do I feel safer with ADT? No. Do I feel at peace? Definitely not. I feel stressed. I feel physically ill every month that I have to call and re-set up my automatic payment. I feel sick every time I go to check my camera for something going on in the front and the camera is not working. It's terrible to have to pay for something every month that doesn't work.

The installers of our ADT were very professional. The installation didn't take a long time. They taught me how to arm and disarm the system and how to utilize the Google Nest and the camera system. Everything's really good. I was very pleased. I love the features included, especially my Google Nest. I love the different things that you're able to do with it and see.
One time, I was cooking and didn't turn the fan over the stove on, so the smoke was going up and the smoke alarm went off. I like knowing that the service is working very well and the people who monitor it are really prompt when they call to see if there's an issue. It's never more than 5 seconds or 10 seconds, they're on it. Also yesterday, I had a friend over and he was going outside in the backyard. I forgot to turn the alarm off. As soon as he opened the door, about three seconds later, I got a phone call. There had also been about five times my grandkids would open the door and the alarm would go off and I'd get a phone call three seconds later. I like that that is being monitored so closely. I am very pleased with ADT.

I heard that I could do what I wanted from Boston to my condo in Florida and didn't need the cameras. I just had a keypad and I could control it from here. Also, ADT hooked up with Google now so I have a lot of different things that I can do by phone. I don't have to be there to deal with it. I sleep well when I'm there and I have peace of mind no one is going into my condo when I'm not using it. You have to give the key to the cleaning lady. Now, no key. They call me up, put the code in. I can change the code anytime I want from one day to the next day. It's very easy.
It's excellent for me because the exterminator has to get into my condo while I'm not there. I can shut off to set off the alarm or I can take off the alarms that are on the windows. Just three sensors on two windows and my door. I can change anything I want from here so I don't have to have somebody go there and wait for him. When he gets to the house, he calls me. I let him punch in the keypad and the front door because I changed my lock from a regular lock to a keypad so I can give them the code. They hit that. I shut the alarm off. They do what they have to do, and they leave.

I had ADT 20 years ago and it was a good system. Then I had another company. When I called up ADT to replace the old system, they put in a couple of Google Nest products, which I can buy over the counter, and then they billed me a huge sum of money. Then they call that the super duper alarm system. It's a junk system. Also, they're impossible to get ahold of. No matter when I call, it rings and rings and then I get a recording that says, “The wait time is going to be 10 minutes.” Half an hour later, I'm still on musical hold. Right now, I got a camera that's not working, and I can't get ahold of anybody to come to fix it. I'm upset beyond recognition. Overall, the value of the system, the installation, customer support, and answering the phone are junk.

I’m not liking that when I try to set the custom so that I can open the door leading into my garage, it will set off. So, I don’t set the system at night, because if I have to go in and out of the house, it will set it off. Also, I had had the front window open when it was nice out, but the system kept telling me the front window was still open. It wouldn’t let me set the system. And I knew the window was no longer open. So, there are some glitches. The only other thing is I need to know how to use some mechanisms on my phone. But I’m liking it that I can set the system while I’m away, and I feel secure. Also, the installer was very good and professional.

I'm fairly satisfied with ADT. But there's a place in my garage where the window sensor keeps going out because the battery isn't staying charged when we put it in there. Every time I get a battery and replace it, it's only a matter of three days and it starts beeping again and giving me notifications that the window battery is dead. It causes me to have to bypass all of that in order to cut my system on. We reached out to ADT through the mobile app, but I'm not sure if it went through because I'm still learning how to use it and no one ever called me or showed up. I wish that the technician had spent a little more time teaching me the app and going over the app with me.

I wanted a lot of cameras in my house. There were only two systems that offered that. One was ADT. The tech came out and we couldn't put the system in because he didn't have the cameras on the initial call. But the fact that I didn't have enough internet speed, he couldn’t do the install. That gave him enough time to get everything else that he needed. I only had one issue where the system didn't recognize my security code. But that got solved easily. The executive on the phone couldn’t understand why the system wouldn’t recognize it, either. But it got figured out. Also, the guy was good about going through the panel, but he never got into ADT's webpage and explained how to go about that. But I understand that because we were both in a hurry.

Absolute nightmare. If you sign on, it is 3 years of high payments for low tech. Google cameras and other devices on sale at Target are more tech savvy and don't come close to costing $51 a month. I was not careful and they put me on a 36 month contract that I could not quit without paying all the money anyway. I had the service disconnected for the last year and a half.
When I called to have them stop billing me (because the 36 months was ending) they told me that I needed to give them a month notice so I was billed an additional $51 and their representative said that I could get a discount on the last bill if I just would call them in a couple days. I did, and it turned out that he'd lied. I then talked to 5 different people. One of them hung up on me. I was put on hold and ultimately, no apology, no discount, a lot of questions and sales technique and a waste of a lot of my time. They are the worst companies I have ever had to deal with. I strongly suggest not getting mixed up with them.

The first contact I had with ADT was okay but the day after the installation happened, that's when it went very bad. Before the installation, I made a phone call to ADT to find out if my Wi-Fi was acceptable, which was T-Mobile, and the young lady said yes. When the technician came in, he was a little hesitant. He says T-Mobile doesn't work with cameras and stuff like that. He proceeded to call someone that told him to still go ahead and put the system in so he did and he wasn't able to put the door camera because the camera won’t work. Then, he tried to do a camera on the side of the home and that wasn't gonna work either. He spent the majority of his time at my home that day. Then he left and he took the cameras away. I called the next day to ask them if they could remove their system and they keep saying they were gonna send someone else.
It took almost two weeks for them to send someone else and then the same gentleman turned up. He called and asked me how the system was working. And I told them that they scheduled someone to come and remove it. He said he was in the neighborhood and he can come and take it out. He came and he removed the door sensor and the system off my wall. Those were the only thing that needed to remove and he left. After he was gone, I asked him about the paperwork and he said they were gonna send something in the email. I never got anything in my email but I got bills every month after that for $63 and something cents for my system. Every time I called, they keep saying that they don't understand how I don't have a system but my account is active.
I talked to someone that advised me to call my bank and stop the payment so I did. When I called my bank and stopped the payments, ADT started sending letters and my name went to a collection agency. Now I got a message from them three days ago saying that they were going to give me a refund and they were going to close my account.
I was surprised at the lack of communication between each other. When I call, I give them my name, number, and home address and I tell them that I'm trying to verify that I don't have an account active because I don't have a system. They say it's the wrong department and that they'll switch me over and put me on hold. The phone just rings and rings and it says, “An agent will be with you in the next two minutes. Waiting time is two minutes.” I thought they were waiting and I got onto a different person to whom I had to repeat the entire stuff. Then they said it was the wrong department and they’ll switch me. That's what it did me for a few times till I just hang up.
I was really disappointed in their communications between themselves and the different departments that they have. The only reason one person finally decided to listen to me was when I turned and I said that if they're recording my conversation, I would really like somebody to go back and look at all my dates of my name, my telephone number, and listen to the recording.

We had to convert the billing to our name, of course, so a representative came over and took our information and had us sign a contract. After using the service for a month we decided it was not for us but they would not let us out of the contract we signed. We were not notified that we were signing a 3 year contract. We were given an ipad to give our signature and did not get a copy of the contract until after we said we no longer wanted the service. Now they want us to pay out 75% of the 3 years (which we had no idea it wasn't month to month! They are crooks and scammers. DON'T SIGN ANY CONTRACT/IPAD!

Nope not an option. So then I ask so... If ANYTHING goes wrong & someone has to come out so I can continue to use the service I am paying your to use it will cost me 59 bucks? She said YES... that is like paying the power co for power and still getting a bill for when the power is out because the cable is down and then having to pay the power company (on top of your bill for service you are not getting) to come reconnect your power. I have been a customer of theirs for 4 years and since exterior cameras were added I can’t see my interior motion sensors activity nor my door sensors activity. Sound on the cameras only work intermittently and have horrible sound quality.
Their Control app is way inferior to the previous Pulse app and does not work properly either. I get notifications when nothing is there and much activity goes undetected. When arrived stated I needed to upgrade all parts which was ridiculous since it was already brand new system.
After speaking to sales discounted to 500 dollars. Absurd. After that technician gets a call from her manager and stated she had to leave to go to another job site. I took from work and wasted my day to get this treatment. Called adt and they put me on hold. Transferred, would not return my deposit. This is a horrible company. How would you feel you spend your day to lose money from work to have someone at adt tell you that had to leave. You are not that important and go to another job site.

Our agent let us know we wouldn't have to pay more than $45 monthly..so we decided to take that offer since it seemed affordable. When we asked if we purchased any additional equipment, if the monthly price would go up, she reassured us that it would not impact our monthly bill. When the installer installed the equipment, we asked again if the monthly bill would go up and the installation person said no...
Now, we have a bill for $60 a monthly for 3 years! We have been back and forth on the phone with different managers from different states and no ONE has been able to help us. I had a house fire in December of 2021. Everyone made it out safe. ADT's smart smoke detector worked as it should and alerted my phone as well as physically went off. I had an ADT rep call within moments. As far from a technical side - OK. Support is a completely different story. This is my first, and hopefully last, house fire. There were a million things I had to deal with. Thankfully my insurance team was on the ball and great to work with. I called ADT early January of 2022 to let them know I would need replacement equipment as mine was heavily damaged from the fire. They stated they would replace it - But I had to buy all new equipment. Seriously? This should have been the first and only red flag of how this was going to play out.
I paid for the $899 original package of equipment that had been destroyed. They were telling me since I paid it all upfront that I would have to pay for everything again.. I reached out to my insurance company (Bless SafeCo Insurance) and they covered the replacement cost of the equipment and install. I credited that to my ADT account so that was one thing off my list to worry about. I also talked to my local ADT rep and multiple people in the billing department to ensure I would not be billed until I was back in my house.
Fast forward to March. I notice 3 additional ADT charges were taken out throughout the last couple months.. My monthly payment that had been agreed to not be taken out until I was back in my home with functioning equipment. I immediately called my local rep, ADT customer service, even local managers. I think I wasted 8 hours of my life between the wait times on the phone and getting the same run-around-stories.
I finally called my bank (shout out to PNC). I asked them to stop any charges ADT tries to pull from my account. I even had them put in charge back disputes for the additional months ADT charged me after the fire. I got 2 of the 3 monthly charges back, better than nothing. I received my April bill from ADT in an email then an error email stating they couldn't charge my account. HA I WON! Just kidding. Remember the money my insurance reimbursed me for new equipment and install? ADT started pulling from that as it was sitting as credit in my ADT account.
I started typing this as I was on hold with ADT getting this sorted out. I called the local rep and manager twice getting "I am on PTO" and "I am working on this" same ** different day. I called the finance line 1-866-656-8883. I now have a paper check being mailed to me for the full amount my insurance originally gave me. It should be here in 7-10 days so let's all cross our fingers. I requested a confirmation number or email and they told me they don't provide those. Please don't be total ** ADT.
If you are still with me, ADT thank you for protecting myself and the individuals in my home the morning of the fire. I am glad your equipment works properly. ADT you are greedy and corrupt. I am not sure how you have been in service for +100 years with the trickery your company pulls. I am extremely disgusted with the lack of care I have received. There have been a couple of snags along the way, but our experience with the ADT reps has been mostly positive. During COVID, they did not have adequate staff to man their call centers. So, when the alarm was triggered, they never called me. I eventually got a notice when I got into an area that had cell service, and I called them. Their excuse was they didn't have sufficient staff and I was somewhere in the queue, but that was 30 minutes later.
As far as the system, there have been issues when they replaced the core module where it would say that it had low battery, or that it wasn't connected to the electrical AC outlet, and it still was. The representatives on the phone told me, “Oh, it's a separate device.” The field tech said the representatives didn't know what they were talking about. He examined it and couldn't find the problem. He just had it reset. We still had a couple of times when that's occurred. Also, the first day it went live, it was programmed incorrectly. I've been pleased because some areas are unable to get what they need because of the lack of internet service. We were very fortunate that they could work with us to get us what we needed. Having this system, there's an overall positive feeling to know that you've got something to back you up if you're not there. It's a really good feeling to have something that can access you anywhere. We got the app and it prompts us if we don't turn it on or if a door opens and stays open too long. If there's a door that doesn't normally open, it prompts you and lets you know that there's an unusual door opening and if somebody is at the house and you aren't there. Sometimes my kids are here, so it's nice to know that it even pays attention to that as well. It provides other information, too.

The salesman recommended product after product, but he wouldn't give me a price per unit. It's obvious that he did that intentionally ‘cause I'm assuming that that probably dissuades some people. If you want the total protection, it does get pricey. Maybe the way he went about the presentation works for some people, but it bothered me the way he kept dancing around the price until I finally said, “Either give me a price or just stop your whole presentation.” That's when he went ahead and gave me the price per unit, which didn't stop me from buying. I ended up spending 3,000 bucks that I wasn't planning on spending. I could have said no, but it makes sense to have the system, so I don't blame him.
It was simple getting the system installed. ADT was pretty good about it. They got me on the schedule right away and taken care of, and so far, everything's going well. For some reason though, every once in a while, some of the units go offline. I get the message on my phone then it'll say back online. I don't know why it does that, and I don't like that part. On one of the units, it's almost daily, and it's one of the carbon monoxide detectors. I haven't called it in though. The guy that I talked to gave me his number. If I have any questions or problems, to give him a call, but I haven't. We had a horrible experience with ADT last week. Somebody came over the fence and I was on the phone with a gentleman for two hours. He sat and could see me on all four cameras. But when I get on my mother's laptop, we only have access to see one camera and that's in the family room. There's a camera on the porch and my mother is putting $3,000 worth of new screening and shutters in because she can't get access to her cameras, and she feels unsafe. She's having to hire somebody for overnight shifts. She hasn't slept in five days. She is so scared in her house and she is paying for a security system. The police and the firemen came again last night. They're gonna end up calling and saying that my mother's crazy.
Last night, it would not work. The code would not go in. Speaking to the gentleman, I was standing in the yard. There's a camera on the porch. It's pointed right where the gentleman supposedly came over the fence. I was standing right where she said that she saw him come over and the gentleman said he could see me. I asked if he could pull up the footage. I gave him the exact time within a 15-minute frame. He said he was not allowed to do that. He told me that there's a link I need to go to. He tried sending it to me four times but it would not work. I don't understand why I can access one camera and not all four. I said, "Can someone please come out here and sit down with me?" He said their technicians don't do that.
They accept the check from my mother every month, but when I was asking them for technical support for someone to come out to the house and help me, they said no. The only way someone will come out is if I said I wanted to order more cameras. I need to get on the phone with them again today and try this all over again. It's ridiculous.

Contacted ADT for a top of the line security service system including camera monitoring. They were very quick and eager to SELL their system. However, support is an entirely different matter. Once they have you online, they will steadfastly refuse to support any faulty/failing equipment, saying "well you have a contract," without offering any viable solutions. My camera systems with a moderate internet system installed in the home fail to monitor anything DAILY. Techs have been to the house, but have never resolved the problem. Trying to work with the sales/service department was tantamount to talking to a wall. Good luck if you use ADT...Try someone else first.
Hi James! Thanks for the review, our apologies to read of your disappointment and troubles! Are the cameras going offline, or are they failing to record motion clips when the activations are set? If the cameras are going on and offline, this perhaps could be related to the Wi-Fi strength or network issues. If they are missing recording opportunities, this could be a camera issue, or setting malfunction. If the cameras need service, we would be happy to get a tenured experienced tech to the home. Please give us a call back at 1 800 238 2727 so we can get this resolved ASAP. Thank you!

My experience when I reached out to ADT was all right. I went through step by step to make sure I knew what they were charging me for because sometimes, the advertisements are a bit misleading. But it would be easier if they charge customers half of the fee on the first of the month and then charge the second half on the second half of the month.

After reaching out to the team of ADT via Twitter, we were able to reach a resolution. The customer service of Andrew over Twitter was some of the best I have experienced. Andrew was able to defuse the situation, review all of the details, offer an acceptable solution, and offered the situation to be reviewed by an ADT manager for further training opportunities.

I called ADT to schedule a relocation. The employee I spoke with Joann ** (Rep ID no. **) cancelled our old account resulting in a cancellation charge of over $500, created a new account that had zero account history with ADT and proceeded to create a new contract. During the contract creation she skipped over going over equipment charges put items into the contract that I expressly asked not to be there, and didn't offer payment options such as an installment plan for the $900 installation fee that she didn't go over with me. She sent a DocuSign link and then advised me not to read over anything and to sign it prior to the link expiring. I had to call 12+ times to get a supervisor in Account Management who then told me that even though the ADT employee disregarded protocol and processes during the contract creation it was my fault and the best he could do was to offer an installment plan.
If proper process and procedures were followed and I would have been notified at the astronomical cost of installation of equipment I would not have continued with ADT's service. I would have paid the cancellation fee outright to leave my other house because it was $400 cheaper and I would not have an alarm system. ADT needs to make this right, because currently you're making me pay for a mistake that was made on the business side. It's not right and I will review your company on every site I can create an account on to let everyone know of these shady practices.
Hello Jacob. We are very sorry for the frustrating experiences. We received your concerns via other social media channels as well and its our understanding that we are having a 3 pay plan set up on the account for you. If you need further assistance, please let us know. Thank you.

ADT's service has been horribly disappointing. We were having construction done in our home. So, they were turning on the electricity and turning it off, and the system kept going off. I kept telling ADT, "We're having construction done. You're calling me all the time, telling me the alarm is going off or whatever, something's not connected right." What was so crazy is, it would be the automated system that would call me and it was like, "We'll call you back." It was an hour and a half later before anybody contacted me. If that had been a real alarm, I couldn't get a live person for over an hour and a half.
When we called, we got this automated system and it would have us wait on the line, call back or put in a number, then it would call us back. The reps also kept putting notes in, and this happened repeatedly. It was close to a dozen times before somebody made a note in it and did something so they wouldn't keep calling me during the construction period. I can't say I'm pleased with ADT's operational protocols. Because when it was Ackerman, we got a live person to call us and to deal with. We'll probably discontinue our service there with ADT. I've shared this with people multiple times too. Another thing is, when our automated payment was off by 14 cents, I even got a bill for it.
Hi Susan! These troubles could have been prevented by placing the alarm system "on test" this can be done either through our website at myadt.com or when speaking with our team directly. Our dispatch teams are separate from the inbound calls we handle, therefore the alarm activation and response would have had no delay, in comparison to when calling in to speak with our tech support. Our apologies for any trouble!~ If any further assistance is needed, we can always be reached by calling 1 800 238 2727. Thank you!

I have experienced issues with ADT since initiating services and no amount of refund will suffice for the abysmal service and malfunctioning equipment. I had a security breach for property was stole because of the inadequate malfunction of the low standard quality cameras NOT WORKING. The extent of the issue for my property being stolen resulted in having to file a police report. I contact ADT several times starting on 2/7/22 to report the issues with the cameras (yes PLURAL), and was given a “virtual appointment” and I inquired about the need to access the camera which would be difficult given my height and the cameras being outside of my reach even with a ladder, I was told that I wouldn’t.
On the day of, I was contacted by the tech with a few minutes shy of the appointment window ending only to be informed that I was misinformed and would need to access the camera. I was then held on the phone and shifted between account management, tech, and a scheduler for an hour and 18 minutes!!! Only to be informed that while the local branch office doesn’t do weekend and the initial appointments would be TWO WEEKS OUT! I restated the security need and then told I was on a priority list for that Saturday 2/12/22. On 2/12 I was left a voicemail about an appointment during the middle of the workday on 2/17, after I informed the scheduler on 2/12 that in the med profession and working with patients schedules are set 3 months in advance.
I contacted ADT AGAIN and was informed by a rep that given my issues I qualified for a 6-month money back guarantee and to await a call from the local branch office within 2 business days. No call or voicemails, so I contacted ADT again, and the rep contacted the branch office and spoke with a person who confirmed that I had not been contacted due to the branch office being backed up and that I should receive a call within a day and that a vm would be left. Surely not the case so I contacted ADT AGAIN, and it was noted the number of times I had contacted the company and the dates were recited to me re: the SAME issue, all while my service is STILL not working. The rep put in another note for the branch office to contact me and LEAVE A VM, and nothing occurred.
Despite reps from ADT indicating that I would qualify for the 6-month money back guarantee, they recite information from the branch office stating the case is close because of new stipulations yet they are baffled given the fact the equipment has not been functional AND the dates offered are never aligned with availability given the branch not offering Saturday appointments. The branch also claims attempts to have called, yet never have and I have offered a copy of my phone records submitted directly from the phone company to prove the lies of the branch. I was finally provided the name of the branch manager for the Raleigh, NC region as “Kevin” since it appears that the numerous lies and the meandering and misleading information of the employees at the branch that is relayed to customer service reps at the central number is incongruous and causing further confusion where litigation is on the table.
It appears that there are other instances of the same issues through a legal review of consumer complaints as well, and the tactic is seemingly strategic to lock consumers in to bypass the 6-month money back “guarantee,” which is apparently NOT a guarantee. I implore all individuals to truly reconsider ADT, review the complaints about malfunctioning, LOW QUALITY CAMERAS, and DO NOT believe the claim of ADT being the “most trusted” security company. Better yet, ADT should be known as “The Most Trusted Security Co. to SCAM CONSUMERS & PERPETUATE FALSE CLAIMS, PROVIDE SUBPAR, LOW QUALITY EQUIPMENT….”
If ADT has an issue with this review, please bypass the whole “we are sorry our service, blah, blah, blah.” I thankfully have kept dates, times, lengths of calls, number of times transferred, which departments and NAMES of every single person, submitted to my lawyer because this issue is now escalated. Who knows if a class action lawsuit is already in the works or will be given the consistent consumer complaints between BBB, this site and so many others. ADT is a disreputable joke. Save your money and go with another company.

It's been very easy to deal with ADT's customer service. They sent someone out for us right away and he came out and tried to sell us quite a bit of stuff. He understood we did have a budget, so he didn't really try to oversell. I really hate being upselled constantly, and I didn't really feel the pressure of that. He was very thorough and gave us examples of why we need stuff. He was very patient with us. When the installer came in, we decided to change a couple things with price. I had a system already installed, and the sales rep came and just tried to make the sale. He replaced all the sensors without need, which is fine. I agreed. However, we suffered an incident, and he said, “Well, I'll fix that. And I'm pretty sure you're going to see on the cameras who run into the house or what really happened,” but nothing. I was ripped off.
The first time the installer came, he was not able to complete the whole job. I let him work at his pace and he was working on his own then he said, “I have to go. My shift is done.” He came in around 10:00 AM and left at 5:00. I told him, “Oh, you still have to work to do because I don't see what I agree with the sales rep.” He told me, “He is gonna call you back and send another technician because I'm not familiar with the other process.”
The sales reps called me three weeks after. I had been calling the sales rep and he hasn't gotten back to me with an appointment date for one of the technicians. I sent emails, and I had been calling the 1-800 number. They just keep telling me that someone is going to call me, but nobody has called. Now, I still have some system that is not working properly. I'm totally not satisfied. I spoke with one of my friends that wanted to install ADT. I told my friend, “You know, I’ll wait. I was told that they wouldn't let me install it or the techs wouldn't install and I should use the equipment because I could damage it taking it out. It was a couple of screws and everything was wireless. When the technician came out, I asked him about that and he told me that was a bunch of bull and they do that to everybody.
The only reason I still have ADT is because of the contract. I'm not happy with their service or their pricing. I've had much better deals for better service with ADT equipment that offer incentives and free equipment. It cost me several hundred dollars and the only reason I did it is because it was cheaper than paying out the remaining two years on the contract. The service itself is great, as far as the functionality and response time. I have set it off a couple times accidentally myself over the years and they immediately called. But their price is not competitive with other things that are out there now. And they lock you into a contract.

The sales experience was horrific. People will tell you anything. Half of what the rep said we were gonna get when the technician showed up was gonna be extra. So it was a real bait and switch kind of sales tactic. We were gonna cancel and the technician contacted his manager at the home office that was local here and they agreed to what we were told we were getting for the stated price without adding on. The technician told me that they face this all the time and that customers are so angry when they get there and find out everything the salesman said wasn't true.
It would be better if the sales were made at the local level and not corporate because those people don't really care. In Virginia, somebody actually came to our house and assessed our needs and we did the contract right then and there. That was a way better system than calling some corporate salesperson and all he wanted was to add a sale.
The system is working fine but the tech put in a backdoor camera that never worked. I had to call my internet provider and have them data dump my modem to prove that there were no outages on my internet, my modem that would cause the camera not to work most of the time. Plus, they plugged that camera in on my porch. So if you're the bad guy and you want to disable the camera, you just reach down and unplug it. The technician I talked to later on said it shouldn't have been done outside anyway because of the elements. It was an immense hassle to get any kind of resolution.
Finally, during the last visit, we just took it out and they refunded the money because there was no way that they were ever gonna get it to work. The technicians were all very nice and professional but the installation was a shoddy job. ADT is still a reputable company but there are still some flaws. I asked them in many calls trying to get my issue resolved if there was a consumer advocacy where I could give feedback and they said there was none. So they cut me off and led me to believe that there was no way I could talk to anybody at ADT about the problems that I faced.

The ADT sales rep was persistent and held his commitments. Our closing was delayed several times and he was very good about checking in to see how we were coming along with it. He called and followed up with us once we got close and gave us time to get settled. Then he came in, had a meeting with us and we decided to go with him because of the experience he provided by his commitment to stay in touch with us. Also, ADT had been around for a long time and I focused a lot on that. Aside from that, I want quality products, which ADT has. It eased my decision because of the history that they've been around.
The only problem I have with ADT is there's a lot of reps out there that offer different level incentives. So, it wasn't consistent on their offerings across the board. If you sign up with this rep, you may get a cheaper monitoring rate because after we signed the contract, I started getting some more advertisements from ADT reps who were offering to give either discounted products or free cameras. But the installation was very quick. With all the delays because a COVID, I was expecting a much longer wait. After we signed the contract, they were out there to install the next day. They were very quick and there were no issues with the system. I'm an Apple guy so I would like everything tied in with my apple home kit but the ADT product is a stand-alone app. So, I can't control it from my home kit. I have to use their app to make it work. The ADT system is compatible with Smart Home stuff but not on the only Apple side.

I'm left wondering how much sites and fake reviewers are making from giving ADT a good review. Seems like their money is going into false advertising instead of quality equipment and service. ADT is my biggest buyer's regret I have ever experienced. I purchased thousands of dollars of equipment and only one item works and that is a camera that's setup over my garage that's powered by an extension cord they ran instead of the readily available power junction box near it. The front doorbell camera doesn't work. The door and window sensors fell off after a month because they apply them with sticky double sided tape. Thermal fire sensors go off randomly even if there is no temperature deviation causing the fire department to come to my house. The main console sometimes goes out for months then turns on for a month during the on times the alarm goes off even if you set it to disabled.
For the 3 years I've had it they refused to send someone to fix these problems or even change the batteries, until a 45 days out from end of contract. That employee of theirs threw a fit when he realized he might have to do some work and was trying to move the show up date every time it got close to being the day he would have to do his job.
ADT locks you into a steel clad contract where if you cancel you still have to pay for the entirety of the contract. I contacted them about not wanting to renew the contract and they informed me over the phone that I have on day to cancel it from auto renewing for another three years and it's towards the end of the contract, it's exactly 30 days out. If it's one day earlier it doesn't count and if it's one day after it's auto renewed for another 3 years non negotiable and I'd have to pay for another 3 years no matter what. All the real people I meet who have had ADT despise it as much as I do and there are no good reviews on the only seemingly honest rating site BBB, all 1 stars except for the random 1 in 200 who rated it 2 stars. If you don't want buyers regret like me find a different service.

They ended up closing out that order and I had to pay double. It was an out of pocket expense that I was not informed and it was unfair because as a customer, he should’ve informed us.
Also, the rep said that this will be financed but when the second tech came to put up the four cameras that I originally was quoted, he was saying I got to pay, $1,200 out of pocket. I told him I thought this was financed and he said it was not. I was pretty peed off. And then I was transferred five times. I went through many transfers till I got to the fifth person who finally took the time out to help me. Everyone else put me on hold or they hung up.
But the second tech who came out has an IT background and he was very knowledgeable. He noticed that I have an eero and that eero was not connected. It wasn't even on. He informed me that I should have two eero boxes and I showed him where they were. He went ahead and he connected my eero. Once he did, he was able to disconnect the Wi-Fi router and showed me which is now my Wi-Fi. He educated me and let me know why things should be the way that it is. He was more so an instructor teaching me things that I really didn't know.

It all started very well. I spoke with a gentleman on the phone and he promised me the world. The initial presentation was amazing. Then the technician came and realized that he couldn't offer me what I wanted because the system I had in the house was completely different. He spent almost four and a half hours here fiddling with things and finally installing the equipment. But he didn't have a sensor, which I required because we had to change the plan to update it, and he left.
When I followed up, I was on hold for an hour. This woman got on the phone and she put me on hold every single time for 10, 15 minutes. The initial invoice they sent me doesn't match the report the technician sent me. I asked if they could send me the invoice that matches and she put me on hold. She was upsetting me. She couldn't answer one question I have, she hadn't scheduled a technician to come, and I don't see the $200 credit applied to my service. She started explaining to me how it was applied and I couldn't understand the terminology. She put me on hold again. As sweet as she was, I've never seen anything like that before.
I paid them in full after it was installed and I still don't have the sensor I'm paying for. I still don't have a $200 credit and I don't have time to get on the phone and be jerked around again. ADT is the most reputable company in the United States and this is what they did to me. They've killed my enthusiasm for my new home and its protection. Besides all that, I'm very happy.

I owned a business for 20 years and I used ADT there. When I sold my business, I thought it would be a good idea to get them in my home because I never really had a problem with my business. But their service didn't really carry over as well. They should have better customer service. The other day, I called them. I was on the phone for three and a half hours to fix an issue. None of it got fixed because they hung up on their side. They understood what the issue was but they never figured it out. Also, they're supposed to send me a Visa gift card for 200 bucks for signing up and I never got it. I’m pretty unhappy.
When considering security options, shop around. Nowadays, you can just purchase technology and install it yourself. There are a lot more internet services out there that are easier to install and are cheaper. I'll probably consider that option next time so I don’t have to deal with the person on the other side. I was completely hustled by the salesperson. They promised me a price. None of it was true.

I moved into this place and they already had the ADT hooked up. I tried to get the service restarted. I got the ADT service but it wasn't what all was included when I called and tried to set it up. It was supposed to come with a new system but I never got any of the new stuff that they were promoting. There was a promotion going on involving the doorbell with the camera. That's was what I was signing up for.
In the end, ADT just set up the old system and basically turned that on. I've been trying to call and try to make sure there's someone who can come back out to give me the things that I was wanting. I tried three times and no one was able to help me. They said they will call me back but no one has. ADT is just demanding money from me to pay even though this isn't the system that I agreed upon.

Every time we move, our experience with ADT is usually not very good. It's always an issue of cancelling the old system or putting it on hold. We usually have a double move. We did Blue by ADT in between this time and I'm still getting some notifications on that. With the billing and the charging, we can't pause it for our move and they still try to charge us 800 or $900 for cancelling our contract, which we didn't do. They told us that we needed to move to ADT Blue. This process needs to be streamlined a little better. We've spent four to five hours on the phone with people every time in calling and figuring out bills.
Once we moved in, that was a little bit smoother. But they didn't cancel the Blue ADT and that was another phone call. We were also getting notifications at 5:00 in the morning. I thought that was the new system that was not working but it was actually the old one. I got a notification the other day too. I would have to call again to make sure ADT turns those off. It's just concerning because you can't tell that that's the Blue one.
The communication and shut-off aren't smooth. Also, the communication through the billing is a nightmare. We've moved five different times and it's always been our worst experience as far as transferring the service. Other than that the installer guy was great this time around. The other ones weren't so good because it took them probably eight hours to put everything in and call and figure all that out.

We chose ADT because they are associated with USAA insurance. The sales rep who came out was great. He was very knowledgeable and he answered all our questions. It looked like he'd been in the business for years. He knew many nuances about security systems, which sounded completely logical and reasonable. The finished product seems operational and it doesn't get in the way of anything. But the installation process and actual physical attaching devices to doors and windows were a little sloppy. There is what appears to be a silicone type adhesive that was used and it was not applied very neatly. I noticed too that there is a lot of flexibility in the pricing from the initial estimate to what the final price can be. It looks like there is a very large profit margin that can get negotiated to a lesser price than the initial estimate.

He made me run some tests over the phone while I was on the phone with him to fix the problem because he didn't want to drive all the way back out there to fix the problem. It was a terrible experience.
I'm having a lot of problems with the system until now. The device keeps turning on by itself and I have to talk to customer service to handle the situation. They troubleshoot it over the phone. They don't have a technician come out and looks at it. After troubleshooting, the system would start working. It's just now, I'm having the same problem again. When I first signed up with ADT, a tech came in and did the installation. He tried to upsell certain things like the smoke alarm. This time, they say I have to pay for the equipment for an X amount of years. It seems like a lot. It should be a one-time setup fee unless you want to add anything. I couldn't even transfer my key fob that I already had because he said he couldn't hook it up. They should give an upfront cost then explain that every additional equipment is an additional charge. This time, he didn't do as much of the upselling. I told him I had a fire alarm and he said he didn't know if he had one in the truck. Then all of a sudden, he had one in the truck. The transfer was not fun. The set up has been a major issue and the installation.
I’ve had a lot of issues with billing with the last month. I’ve had to be on the phone for over five to six hours total. I moved and they were double charging me. I’m getting the refund but I'm still waiting on the check. They’re very nice but the last time I called, I asked to talk to somebody that knew exactly what they were doing. But the service is great and I like it. Two nights ago, it had to go off at 4:05 am. I run the pad, and it told me which door had been opened. It was the shed outside and it was the wind because it was so windy that day. Being a single mom with kids, I appreciate it.

I called ADT and asked them how to disassemble it so I could fit the batteries in. The process personnel who was helping me told me the wrong thing and the stuff in two of the clips broke in it. We got into a contract with ADT. The contract is ages long and expensive. If you move you have to either renew the 36-month-long contract or eat the remaining cancelation fee. The whole company is designed to lock you into a company you cannot escape from without paying through the nose. The cancelation fee will be ~$550 (a lot) and I decided to pay it so the contract does not automatically renew itself when it ends (something that can happen to you). The worst part is that we have had our system offline and unpowered for over 8 months and ADT never noticed through their monitoring. No communication or attention until we tried to leave and now ADT won't let us go without taking a large sum of money from us. Just like divorce.
Hello Noah. Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We see that you closed the account before the end of the term therefore the charges on the account are valid.
We believe in being transparent, that is why the length and the penalty for premature cancellation is bold font on the front page of all our contracts. In the event you relocate the system to a new location within 2 years from the date of the previous cancellation we will refund you the charges that you have paid for the cancellation fee. Thank you.

I had a pleasant experience with ADT's sales rep. Someone then came on time for the installation. It was supposed to be an all day job but he finished earlier. All the people that I've been associated with have been great. But there is one aspect I'm not pleased with. Right now, we have the console. The only way that you can see who's at your front door is on the app. I was told by my rep that there wasn't anything like that. Later on, I had a different question and he said they just had a new product that will allow you to see from the door.
If you have a guest or a family member at home, you don't give them your app info. You want them to be able to see who's at the door. If you have minor children and you want them to open the door for a specific person and look out, they can. It's because they might not have a cell phone. I called ADT the other day and the technician on the phone told me that they don't have the feature I wanted so I was a little confused.

The system is efficient. The tech had to come back a couple of times making sure that was connected. He ended up finishing the job but he could have done that in one trip. I had the ADT doorbell as part of my package originally back in December when the tech was supposed to come and install. When he came out to connect my service, my doorbell wasn't working. He said, “When you get it fixed, call us back, and we'll install.” I got it fixed then called ADT back. They said they no longer offer the ADT doorbell. They were pushing out the Nest. They were forcing me to get something because it's a little bit more expensive and newer. But when I talked to the service guy who did my install, he said they still have them because some people are not so familiar with the technology. I felt that I was pushed to do something because they were trying to sell me something and not really looking into my whole practical situation.

The guy who came for the installation was very helpful initially. But they were just trying to get my business. From a customer service perspective, they're really bad. I called him the next morning to say, “I'm having an issue with the installation. My doorbell has been grinding all night or burning all night.” He couldn't come back out that day so I should call their service team. I did and they said the next available appointment was three and a half weeks away.
By my standards, they didn't leave me in a good state. The phone call folks have been nice but they were totally ineffective. Even in calling and trying to escalate, they push you around the circle. It was a horrible experience. I had to continue to go back and forth with them, talk to them multiple days, explain the severity of the issue, and that I was a new customer. This isn't necessarily how you keep people. I still didn't get any good response. I would switch if I wasn't in the contract.
ADT sent out a specialist late to work out the issue and he was pretty good. But I already investigated and brought in an electrician to run my own diagnostics. A buddy of mine and I were able to figure things out. ADT was just leaving me to the internet and no one knew anything. I’m like, “It's y’all’s equipment. How do you not know your own equipment and how it responds or reacts in a home environment?” That was the problem. I was able to talk with ADT to try to go further with resolving this issue. I still have a service call out to them right now because one of the doorbells is recording but it's not feeding. I've only been with ADT for a month and 11 days. I have yet to get through a full month without calling ADT.

Getting ADT set up was good. I called them not too long ago because I've been having trouble. Our camera is delayed very badly. We had Cox come out to make sure it's not our Wi-Fi. It turns out our Wi-Fi working for everything else just fine. When I leave and pull back in the house, the system won't alert my phone until I'm actually in the house versus alerting me right then. We see no purpose in having it if it's going to be delayed like that. We keep having ADT people come to our house every day.
Also, I requested the window things on my plan as we really wanted those. If somebody tries to break into our house, that’s the window that they could possibly get to first. But we didn't get those window things. The guy didn't have any and I told him not to worry about it. The guy didn't leave an ADT sign too. People won't know that we have the system unless they see the camera up.
Other than that, their guy communicated very well. He helped me set everything up. He tried to get the silver door thing we wanted. He called someone. They said it was 30 minutes out and we didn't want to wait at that point. I also didn't want him to have to drive 30 minutes away so we stuck with the brown door thing. But ADT needs to be more clear about what the customers have to pay for and give them the options if they don't have the feature to make it work.
ADT needs to be more clear about what you have to pay for and give you options if you don't have the feature to make it work. Because I couldn't get the clarity from the rep that I dealt with. The way he made me think was that I had to have this. But I kept telling him I would prefer to have the part that you need for the internet when I get the internet. I haven't got the bill yet and I don't know if they're charging me. But he said they're not going to charge me.
At first, the rep wanted to alarm just certain doors, but I told him to alarm them all because I need to know if anybody comes in through any door. He didn't want to alarm the back doors at all because he said that the glass there could be hit one time and people could come in. It won't matter if you have an alarm or not. So I don't know if he alarmed them or not, but we got into an argument about alarming these doors. Because his whole thought process was, “You got windows. There's no point because they can break the windows anyway.” But my thing is, if they break it, I need to know. He was courteous otherwise. He was just strong-headed and he didn't want to listen to meet the demands of me as a customer.
When a customer like me that has been broken in before has a plan about what I need to do to protect me, ADT reps need to listen a little bit more and they need to give me what I ask for as opposed to trying to tell me how the trend is going in the break-ins. It's better to know when people are coming in. Every entryway of the house, where there's a window or a door, should have an alarm that goes off when people break-in. But right now, I don't think ADT's rep set me up that way and I'm not really happy about that. He didn't do what I asked him to do. So I don't feel secure with the alarm. He did something on my phone and I can arm and disarm the system using it. But I can't look at my property and tell if somebody is on it.

I don't like the voice activation part of the system. It's weird now how ADT changed that. The beeping sound is also weird. ADT had a different one before. This is irritating the way it calls out the doors and stuff. But signing up this time was the same as the first time. It was good.

I like everything about the system. I can use it with the app and everything is pretty good and super convenient. We're still protected whenever I'm not home.
Thank you for the feedback and for joining the ADT family!

We got the Ring doorbell and we have the feature where we can unlock the door from the phone. When our tech hooked the system up, he was friendly and fast. The Ring doorbell picks up everything and it's aggravating sometimes with the alert. But overall, the service is decent and we like it. They're very high-tech and upgraded. We feel a little safer.

I had an ADT system installed last year and had I known what I was getting I would have saved my money. We have two outdoor cameras, an indoor camera and the security system. Early this week my garage door malfunctioned and didn't close, and between this time (about 5pm) and my husband getting home from work (6:15 pm), someone walked right into our garage and stole approximately $3,000 worth of bikes. I quickly went to my ADT app to review footage from the camera that was pointed down at my garage doors only to find out that it had stopped working 4 days prior!
I called ADT and customer service quickly went to work trying to figure out how this malfunction was my fault. My internet speeds are over twice the recommended speeds, I hadn't reached my upload cap and everything had been working for a year prior to this with all of the same settings as the day this theft occurred! So I start looking into the ADT theft protection guarantee. This not only requires a homeowners claim, which would cost me $750 in a claim free discount and it would only pay $500 of my $2,000 deductible, but it wouldn't cover me anyway, because it is written in such a way that the circumstances have to be very specific. Your garage does not qualify because they don't put door sensors on garage doors. I also wouldn't qualify because I was home and didn't have the system armed.
It ONLY covers the inside of your house with the system armed. It does not offer any protection for malfunctioning security cameras. I paid almost $1,000 for this system and pay an additional $60 every month for the monitoring and am stuck with it until 2023. Save your money and ook elsewhere, because when it counts, ADT is only there to take your money and offer nothing in the way of real security.
We're so terribly sorry to learn of this experience you've had as a member of the ADT family! We would love to address these issues with you further. If you could please email our team directly at Alwaysthere@adt.com with the full address in which the services are located and the account details along with your post for further assistance.

I redid a bunch of stuff in the house, and really expensive stuff. The alarm company I had went out of business last year. I hadn't thought about replacing them, but I remembered ADT so I called them and they set it up. They were clear about everything they would do, what they could offer and the price it would be for what I wanted. I got two cameras. The doorbell that I had wasn't pulling enough amps to run the camera so I had to call the power company out to change the transformer in the doorbell so it would pull enough amps for the camera to work on the doorbell. That took a couple of weeks. ADT came back and put the doorbell in and that was the end of that. So, the cameras that I ordered are here now and working. I have the app on my phone and I can turn the system off and on anywhere in the world.
