Everybody has been extremely helpful and their service and the quality have been good.

I was tired of the service that I had before. They were outdated and kept raising the prices, so I decided to change. The initial package deal for the install of ADT stood out to me. I've had absolutely no issues with them at all. We added a sunroom on the back of the house. They came out, moved and installed new sensors, and I haven't had any problems with it. The guy was on time. They are a little expensive, but they're well worth it. I would like to see them improve their packages a little bit more and not have quite so many add-ons and raising the price at the same time. But their service seems to be very good.

We are happy with ADT. My realtor has been recommending them over the years, and the sales rep w dealt with was very good. Everything was great. The installation was awesome, too. He needs to be an A-rated installer. Overall, we are very satisfied.

The marketing ADT has been doing stating that they will give us $100 is very poor and ineffective. The reps tell me when I call them that I have to mail something and listen to something and in three days, I would receive my $100. That is misleading and if they continue to do that, they will be in big trouble. I sent paperwork and I received an email offering me $200, not $100. They said that I have to wait 8 weeks more. Regardless, my experience with the technology installed in my home has been great. ADT's tech has been great as well.

There was a special that was being run and we’ve had experience in the past with family members having Protect Your Home. It’s been a really good system and service. My mom and dad are in their 80s and they’re getting very elderly. My mom doesn’t hear very well. So both my husband and I were there during the installation and we got it all set up for them. The installer was wonderful. He was very professional and very informative. He made sure everything was working and explained everything to my mom and to us so that we could make sure that we understood, so if they have difficulty understanding how things work, we’ll be able to explain it to them. He was very good.

I was in a rental house and they had a previous tenant that had ADT. The panel was still in the wall and I had a break-in attempt. The first thing I thought was to call ADT. So I called them and I was really impressed with their customer service. I told them that I needed to get a new system installed at his house and they asked why I wanted a new system with them. I told them that I had a break-in attempt and they said they were gonna move me to the head of the line. They had somebody out the next day because I said I didn't feel safe in my home. Everybody's been really helpful and I really, really like their customer service. It was really well done.
The techs were very professional. They reviewed the whole house with me. We went through a walkthrough of what I thought were the danger areas and the tech agreed with me. They explained everything really well. We agreed on how everything should be configured and then we ran the budget for all that equipment. They asked if that was okay and they threw in some extra stuff for free. So they were really well prepared. It was a really positive experience. They were in there for quite a while, making sure everything was installed correctly, and then they walked me through how to use everything on the app. I was really impressed with their tech.
I recently moved so I had the system is uninstalled from the old house and moved to the new house. That part went seamless. But when I went to log in, it wouldn't link to the new house because my email address was linked to the old house. The tech on the phone told me that I was gonna have to get a new email address. But I said that was not gonna happen. They kept pushing that that was the only way to be able to access my account online for the new account was to make a new email address, which I thought was ridiculously stupid.
I kept calling back 'till I got somebody that knew what they were doing and said they could link the account for me so I can still log in with my credentials. It now goes to the new house. But that whole experience was not very pleasant because it was really frustrating and annoying. The tech on the phone was not very pleasant. But when I got the person that knew how to make those changes, they were much better to deal with. So ADT should make a little bit of like phone help change. But otherwise, I've been really impressed with all the rest of their stuff.

We had ADT for 10 years before. We were part of the Woolsey Fire in California so the house was down for a year and a half while we were rebuilding. It was terrible. And then, when the house was rebuilt, we just called ADT because we were satisfied with the service. Victor, the gentleman who came did such a great job, was really informative and great. I'm 67, my husband is 65, and we do a lot of technology and stuff but some things are a little hard for us to do, but Victor was so patient and really kind. He let me videotape everything he said. He was very sweet. We did it in one afternoon, and it was great. We had one little issue with a sensor and he came right back the next day. Everything works perfectly up there.
We switched to the Pulse thing too because we had the regular system before, and it's working tremendously. We don't live in the house full-time where we just reinstalled the system in so it has really given us peace of mind to have this Pulse system there that we can arm and disarm, and I can look at it on my phone when we're not there. So, it has really been great. It's amazing. I love it so much.

When we bought our house, we were left with all the ADT information so we figured it would be easier to do with what was already here. We got the new monitor system which looks like an iPad thing. We also got the door protectors and a couple of things in the corners of our walls. The installation was good. The person that came in was very helpful and nice. He did a really good job at talking his way through what he was doing. He was very professional.

ADT's sales reps were very informative and things went very smoothly when I spoke to them. The installer who came was very knowledgeable and quick. He told us exactly what he was gonna do. The installation process took two and a half hours and since then, we've liked the comfort of knowing we have a security system.

I was moving my family into a new home and Protect Your Home was right on time that I needed it. I was downsizing from a 3,000 square foot home to a smaller home. Emma always had ADT at the home that we had previously, so she was comfortable with it. I also wanted to make it a smooth transition for my family. The installation went great. The only part that I didn't like was the three-year contract. It was in my name first, and then they installed it. Then before 72 hours, I was thinking that none of my other utilities were three years. Then with the uncertainty of the climate right now, I couldn't see three years down the line, so I called and wanted to cancel, and they sent somebody out to uninstall.
We then decided to put it in Emma's name 'cause in whatever event, we'd always need ADT even if we move. The guy said he could do it and he got on the line with some people and he switched it and kept the system. The only thing is when it was in my name, I gave my debit card to take the auto payments out of it. But since we switched it to Emma's, I've been having difficulty trying to switch the card to our joint account card 'cause every time I put my ADT, it's the account that's in my name so it shows zero balance, I don't owe anything.
I remember when the guy was switching everything over, he said that even though we switched it to Emma's name, the card that I signed up on file is what they would be drafting the auto payments for. I called earlier to see if that was true and the person that picked up said they never successfully transferred it over to Emma's name and it's still in my name. There was no account under Emma. I said that the guy asked me questions and that he asked Emma questions, and he confirmed that everything was done correctly. We got off the phone with the understanding that it might take some time for Protect Your Home to submit a new contract. Emma's happy that she doesn't have to remember the keypad, so I'm happy.

We called ADT and the guy came out. He kept being pushy such that if we didn't get it now, we couldn't get that offer. We were told that they would use part of our system and he wound up putting everything of theirs in there. The only thing they used was our box in there that they connected their stuff to. Then he put our carbon dioxide thing in the wrong place so, we moved it. I’ve not been happy with them, especially when the lady set up an appointment for them to come out and they did not come out here for them to look at my motion detector. She scheduled it for the next day and they didn't even call me to tell me they wouldn’t come. They were supposed to be here between 8:00 and 12:00 and I sat here and waited on them. I called the lady and told her.
The guy at the service desk helped me with some issues with it but I was telling him about the guy who came and installed it. I wasn’t very happy with some of the things that he did. I was concerned about this grey book he had that had every customer’s address and passwords, every kind of system they had and what he changed on it. This was his personal book and it wasn’t an ADT book. I talked to several reps that had been walking around the neighborhood wanting to know about our systems and they said they keep an ADT book but they don’t keep the customers’ passwords in it. This guy did and he has been with the company for two years. I said, “What if somebody breaks in your car and steals that book?” I’m dissatisfied with ADT right now.

The sales rep from ADT was very good, patient and worked with us to find something that meted our requirements. The same person did the installation and he did a phenomenal job. It was seamless and he was in and out. He also cleaned up after himself. He showed me everything I needed to know and I haven’t had any hiccups with the system yet. The equipment is very easy to navigate and it’s straight to the point. I am very satisfied with my experience with ADT. While there are a lot of competitors in the market offering different services, ADT is the trusted brand. They fulfill all the expectations by going through every step of the way, walking you through the process to make sure that you’re feeling comfortable in your home and that you’re secure in your system. It brings a lot of peace of mind once it’s all set up and ready to go.

I've been doing business with ADT for years. I was satisfied before so that was why I picked them up again when I moved away. However, the original guy that came out to put it in recently, I don't think he knew anything about what he was doing. He was sick when he came. He spent half his time, unfortunately for him in the bathroom. Where we live, they had to come out of an office that was 70 miles away. My wife and I think he was new. Then he tried to sell us all this other stuff. I knew what I wanted and how I wanted it up. That first experience was horrible. We had to have a tech come out and redo for everything except the window and door things that we have. But everything's been great since then. We've never had any problem with ADT before or since. I've talked to them. I've run tests and I've had people out. They've upgraded our stuff at no cost to us and they did a real good job. I'd get them again if I moved away somewhere.

We did not have any security system before in a townhome and this is a new home, so we got the system. The gentleman who came was experienced and he installed the machine. He explained how to handle it and showed us how to start and how to exit, how to put it in stay at home and then how to exit those things and the bathrooms. We are reviewing the book that we have and we are learning how to change the password because these were not shown. So, it’s not very common to change the password after some time.
There are lots of thing though that were not explained such as how it will be charged. Even though it says that the basic one is at $27 a month, when it comes to the actual installation and the phone and internet line, it goes up. That was not considered because we may not need that sophisticated camera or such that someone can’t break into our home at night. The phone line that we have is not nearby. We have only one in the main level, which is at the living room at the distal end. It may have to be explained because we didn't know that we cannot use only the landline. We have to use Wi-Fi internet.

ADT's reps answered all my questions and put me in a package that I could afford. They offered me a cashback if I took their service since I bank with Bank of America. However, their installer kept trying to upsell which I didn't like since I already decided on what I wanted. We're in a COVID pandemic, he had neither PPE nor a mask. Other than that, he was courteous and professional. So far, the cost of the system has been excellent. I had a system before and that cost me $10 more a month than what ADT's system costs.

The feeling of security and the fact that it's cellular stood out to me about ADT. And if we were to lose power, even if someone tried to cut our cables or cut off the power to the house, it would still functional and it would still be secure. There have been a couple of times where I've had to call them and they were very good at figuring out what the diagnosis was and giving us a resolution or solution to it. Recently, they updated their system and a gentleman called us and offered to send us a bill type of deal as to what it would cost to get a more updated system. He had put something together and he was going to email me but I haven't received the email so I've been waiting to hear back from ADT. Other than that, we've had good success with this set-up.

I asked him for his phone number and he told me that the next number I was gonna be dialing was 911. But everything that he was telling us was good. It was just the fact that the way he was rude. ADT's customer service was great. They reached out to me with a discounted offer when I had closed on my new home so they were the ones I went with. But I was a little bit disappointed with the sales team because they had promised me a rate over the phone but they failed to mention that I wasn’t actually gonna be able to qualify for that rate if I got the package that I wanted. It was just the detail that they left out, which is obviously a sales tactic. It was quite frustrating to have them come and install everything and then tell me that my monthly payment was actually gonna be double than what they had actually said it was gonna be.
On top of that, I had to have technical support come out to the house multiple times within the first month to fix the service. Initially, we also had some issues getting set up with connecting the cameras to the Wi-Fi network but they were very helpful. They stayed well beyond the allotted time to do my installation and made sure it was up and running. A few days later, it did end up breaking again but I don’t think that was the installation technician’s fault. The installation team was great and everything seems to be working now. So everything is good to go.

I started researching ADT and they have been there the longest. It’s a well-known company. So, that was why I decided to go with them. The guy on customer service was awesome. He was really cool. He was very informative and knowledgeable. It was a good experience overall. I have three cameras at home right now, and I called in because the one that is for outside works 5 times out of 10 that I select it, and it never shows a picture. So, I called ADT immediately and they said they were gonna give me a call back to send someone down here, and I still never got a call back. Everything else besides that has been good. The rep was very informed about what he was selling. However, I found out that he was actually a subcontractor and ADT did not make that known. That should not happen. ADT should not be able to send subcontractors to represent their company. All the while, I was thinking I was dealing with ADT with the way they have their business set up. I called the Better Business Bureau because that is fraudulent representation. So far, the system works well though and I use it every day.

My wife did her research to see if it has good performance and she found ADT good. Their customer service was okay. The guy told us about the contract, and we talked to him and got it hooked up. Later on I knew that it was a three years contact, but it was okay. The installation was good, too. They, however, told me initially that that is free equipment. And then it looked like it was supposed to be $1,000 worth, and then it was 800. So, I don’t know what was free, but the whole thing was 4,000. So, while I feel it was good, it was also misleading to say that it was free.

Companies, especially today when we have choices on where to spend our money, should tell us the truth and I didn't get the truth on the call with ADT. The two experiences – with the salesperson and with the installer – were polar opposites and it was super frustrating. I felt like I should have gone with my cable provider or somebody else. But I went with ADT because of the brand name and the reviews. I'm a single mom so it's just me and my son and I thought I might as well go with the best. I had googled the best security system and there was some article that evaluated the top three picks in the country. I read the whole article and ADT was number one.
But the sales experience was not so great. The salesperson on the phone was super nice and helpful. He offered me all of these really great things and lots of freebies and it sounded amazing. But when the guy came to install the system, at least half of what the guy on the sales call had told me wasn't true. So that wasn't good. But It was not the installer's fault and in a kind manner, I expressed my frustration to him. He stepped outside and called his manager to see if they could honor at least part of what was promised me on the sales call.
When it was all said and done, I did get what I was able to live with and afford. But it was very disappointing that the two experiences were not aligned. I was really disappointed in ADT in the end. What was that? Was that like bait and switch? They got me to say yes so the guy came to the house and then it was not anything like that and they're gonna charge me more. However, I'm very satisfied with the product and the installation didn't take too long. This is a five-year old construction and the previous owners had a completely different type of security system before I bought the house so the tech kinda had to start from scratch so it took him a little bit longer. But it was super reasonable and he seemed fast to me.

We went through the process, then we did the install while he was here. Although we ended up spending quite a bit more, it's a better system than we've ever had. My grandma wanted ADT and she wanted to put it in to protect her house. We wanted to get the camera and maybe in the future, we'll go for it but not right now. So we got the ADT one on the wall for when you open the door. Our experience with the sales rep and with the installer went really good. They explained everything to us right and step-by-step, and they did everything right, like they were supposed to do. The installer also kept showing us everything and was really nice.

The installers were nice and friendly. They tried to upsell me stuff that I didn't want and before I even signed the paperwork, they already installed the keypad onto my wall, so I felt a little pressured. Now, if I say no, I'm going have a hole in my wall and I didn't like that tactic. Also, I've always had ADT in the past and every once in a while, I'll have a window sensor or door sensor go bad, but that's common. I had that issue at my other houses too. However, I have a motion sensor in my basement and sometimes I could walk around there all the time with my alarm on, when it's away, and the motion sensor doesn't activate.
I called ADT and they've checked it. We put it on a test, and as soon as I go down there, it works. Another thing is that costs go up everywhere and ADT has to pay bills and payroll too, but the monthly price is a little expensive for what the system does. I have the basic and that's all I need. It gives me a first line of defense. If the alarm goes off, it wakes me up and I grab my gun and phone.

ADT is well-known and after I talked with the first gal, I was told that she wasn't completely right about a lot of stuff and I didn't think she was. I even disagreed with her. She asked if I had landline here and I told her that I did but it was dead and not hooked up. She said that the system would work with it anyway but I told her that it was not possible. She was getting it confused with a wireless system but she was really sweet. Plus, she answered my questions. I told her that I didn't want a whole lot and I don't require a whole lot. I mainly wanted an alarm to sound when I'm gone. I also think that the signs will do their job more than anything around this area. I like my neighbors and they seem very nice. But I got the system to be sensible. And I don't want somebody who happen to be drunk to come into the wrong house because I’m going to get them.
The rep who came out was very nice as well. We didn't do a whole lot of going through stuff but he was here a while because I was trying to explain what I didn't want and I didn't want much of anything. I got bare-bones but the prices were outrageous. I've got two glass-breaking things, the stuff on the doors for opening and closing, to arm and disarm it, and the two doors going into the garage. Then the desktop thing but I haven't used it. I don't know if they got notified but it's never been turned on.
The guy that put the system was very nice, too. I thought of a lot of things after he left and there was nothing about that situation, other than the fact that I've never had a security system before. But I'm in an area where there are a lot of sirens going off, which I'm not used to. Then at some point when we get done with the house, I'm gonna be taking trips and I don't wanna have to worry about my house being robbed. I also love the ADT signs and the stickers.
Initially, I had a $2500 system here and I didn't like it. It needed a landline and AT&T screwed me over. They were gonna do voice over internet and it wouldn't work with the system. So, I fired AT&T because they're idiots. I called them four different times and told them that I needed a landline. Then, the guy showed up a month later and said he was putting in a voice over internet. But I told him that he wasn't and that I gave them four times to do it. I also told him that they hire people that have really low IQ or are not listening. It also seems like so many companies don't want to ever be contacted by the customers. We pay them money, but they never wanna speak with us in person. So, they make it really difficult. I spent oodles and oodles of time on hold trying to get through to anybody.
Other than that, I am concerned that if I leave and the dogs are here, then I arm the system and something goes wrong, it's gonna kill my dogs. It's gonna drive their ears nuts, so I won't do that with them here. If I go on vacation, that'd be the only time that I use the system. I go down to Oakland because we're selling a house down there. I stay sometimes for four days and I'll arm the system then. But there won't be any animals in the house. Aside from that, there are no motion sensors, so I don't have to worry about that.
I also have a manual fire thing, the panic button, and the two little key fobs. I was told by their rep that for my benefit, it's just the walk-in doors in the garage and not the garage doors that will set that off. Then, I contacted the city and I paid for a permit. They sent me a code that has to be used for the police if they show up and I've got so many times that I can use it before they start charging me for bad calls. But I still don't know what will happen if I'm away and the alarm goes off.

A lot of my co-workers had ADT and they never had an issue with them and the house where I lived three years prior to my new one, the landlord had them. It was easy to deal with ADT. I did everything online and then we set up an appointment. Then a guy came in and installed everything within an hour. ADT provides different packages, whether you get one with a camera or not and in case of emergency, they normally contact you. My alarm already went on and they called me right away, they left me a voicemail, and somebody called back. I wasn’t able to answer because I was at work, but they contacted the police just in case, which was fine. That’s what I'm paying for. In case of emergency, you probably cannot be reached out right away. But they were kind enough to leave a voicemail and give an update or a quick review of what happened and what time it happened.

I’ve been in the real estate business and I have noticed the ADT signs everywhere for years. Also, I got mailings when I bought the house, so there were some offers. The thing that I didn’t like, however, is in order to get the low rate, you have to have a groundline. I ended up paying a lot more than double. So, it was kind of a little bait-and-switch thing. Nevertheless, the contractor who came out was great. He showed me what I needed to cover my place so that I didn’t have to pay extra. He was very quick and effective on installing it. Overall, the system is working and it is easy to arm and disarm from my phone. I have got supplemental cameras that I bought, too.

I have been with an outfit and I had some trouble with the alarm system. They only had one station that was monitoring, so when I signed up with ADT, I was really pleased with the additional monitoring systems. My interaction with their sales rep was very good and I was very happy with my experience with them. They answered my questions and were prompt in getting someone here. The young man that came and installed our security system also did a nice job. He was very courteous and he did it promptly. The other night, we had a terrible storm and the power was knocked out for eight hours. So far, the system still arms itself but it has a little trouble signal that shows up. I gotta figure out how to get that off there but I hadn't had a chance to work on it.

I've been with ADT for five or six years now and so far, it has been a quality system. One time we had a problem with their keypad and it was serviced right away. The reps are really easy to get in touch with. Their tech was very fast and professional when he came out. He had the parts in his van even though he didn't know what the problem was. He replaced the keypad and was in and out in 20 minutes. I feel secure with my ADT system.

I found ADT online. There were some different companies represented who supply services when you're moving from one address to another and one of them was ADT. They contacted me at some point and I agreed to find out the details. Initially, I kinda put them off because I told the rep that I was just listening because I agreed to at that point. I didn't make any commitment until after the rep said everything. He was very upfront and didn't waste any words. I was impressed with that. The installation went well. They estimated it would be like two to three hours. But we had a power outage when they were almost done so they had to come back the next week.
With the app on my phone, I find it very easy to keep track of everything. Even when I'm at home, I use the app on the phone. It was easier than using the panel. My previous experience was when I worked for my retirement. My boss had the system in his house and sometimes I did part-time work for him so I got to know about going in and out when I was the only one there.

I called a couple of different companies before I chose ADT but I was disappointed afterwards. The guy that I talked to told me what I'd be expecting. I told him about a couple of other companies I had talked to where I would have to come out and pay for all the merchandise like the things that go on the windows. He said I wouldn't have to do that with ADT and that usually, it would be $39 a month for what I would need. But when the two guys came out, it was totally different. They went through a whole big spiel trying to sell me all this stuff. By the time they kept having to take stuff off, it was gonna be $4,000 then they took it down to this much and then down to this much. Finally, they took it down to $300-something.
I was very upset about that part. For the $39, it was going to be almost nothing. I almost didn't do it because the experience was like having a car salesman. They say you're gonna get this and then they try to tell you all this other stuff. Then they kept saying they would talk to the manager and see if they could give me this discount and that. I know I was not gonna get anything for free but I was so misled into thinking it was gonna be this and it was a totally different. The guy who came out knew because I kept telling him this thing is not what the rep had told me. He said the rep didn't know and that they're not the ones who come out like them. But the reps on the phone should know what it's gonna cost a customer and what the customer is wanting. Then he had me thinking all this extra stuff was gonna be included. But then he said they would have to take that away and basically, I got almost the basic package.
I asked what about the $39 and they said that's if I don't get it on my phone and it wouldn't be $39. It would be $48. But, of course, you would want it on your phone because it looks so simple to do that. But it should've been a little bit done differently. I wish they'd been more honest. I could've known what I could afford and what I couldn't. I'm a widow and I'm on Social Security. So I was expecting to pay this much a month and that I wasn't gonna have to come out with a bunch of money to begin with but it was totally wrong from what the guy made me believe before they came out. I expected it to to be something more than what the rep had told me but I wasn't expecting him to have been totally dishonest. All he had to do was tell me I would have to pay for the stuff but that they would try to work with me. It's hard to trust anybody and then when somebody does something like that, it makes you feel hurt that those people are lying to you that way.
I decided to go ahead and do it because the guys had come out, spent a couple hours and were so nice. They were friendly and very helpful. So I really hated not to do something since they had gone through all that much trouble. I'm fine with it now. I know ADT has been around for so many years. I know ADT is good and I've got the service I need. I just pay for it and when the contract is up, I may do something else if I'm not satisfied. But as far as the packages, I love having the whole thing on my phone. I can turn it off and on. I also like having the little panic thing. I'm 67 and if I ever fall, it would be great to have. But if I had to do it over, I wouldn't do it because it was bad. And I would advise others what not to do – to not be gullible like me and believe what they say.

So that was a little bit of a surprise, but the people that have come out have always been great.

ADT's reps don’t give you an accurate description over the phone. I filled out the whole thing online for more information, and a lady called me and said, “Okay, well you’re gonna need your windows.” I asked, “So that’ll put them on all my windows?” She said, “Oh, yeah. You know, you’re gonna have $850 worth of stuff.” She didn’t accurately describe, “Hey, you have to pay $100 per window.” I didn’t know that until the people came out. I thought having all my windows protected was included in the package and it wasn’t.
The installers were amazing. We did a walk through outside the house, in the house, beside it, what were the most important windows to put monitors on because they were $136 per window, how much the keypad was and then finance options because I ended up spending a lot of money. The functionality of the system is really good. I wanted them to come back and do more windows. I feel like it should be a bundle package for the windows because people would pay thousands. $136 a window is a lot of money.
The people that came out to set it up were very helpful and the lady who called me was very friendly. I just feel like I should’ve been given a little more detail on coming out a bit out of pocket. What if I wouldn’t have had that money to spend and then they came here for nothing because I didn’t have $1,800 on an alarm system. They caught me off guard. I knew I was gonna come out of pocket for my cameras but the way it sounded on the phone was I paid for the installation and I have $850 of free products. It would be good to give people a little more detail.

The installer was really awesome, but I was surprised at the cost because I ended up having to pay $1,300 when I wasn't planning on it. They were over here, so I had to do it. When I talked to the people on the phone, I thought I could afford the system. It might be a little bit more, but not $1,300 more. They also told me that I was going to be getting $1,100 in credit and I wanted that to be well within the cost. When the guy came out here to install, he showed me stuff and there were two different things. I needed it, so I had to pay it in payments, which was $330 for four months. I appreciate that part of it and the installation was good, but that was like a bait-and-switch situation. Other than that, the sales that came out here was good and so was the girl I talked to.
I live way out in the country and we have a problem with animals, including mountain lions. I really needed cameras on the outside of my house and that was the whole reason why I called them. I wasn't too interested in the inside of my house, but I didn't fully understand what I needed and I got more than what I had originally talked about. I got a key fob where I could unlock remotely and all the windows have the window breaks on them. Originally, I just needed to get some cameras outside, but the cameras were going to be way out of my reach, so I just blew that off. Now, I have the basic in here inside the house and I could barely afford it.
Another thing is that I missed the $100 rebate that they do because I didn't realize I only had 30 days and I had to pay a $4.95 shipping and handling fee in order to get it. They say you're going to get a $100 Visa gift card, but then when you read the fine print, you find that you have to send them a check for $4.95 and it better be within 30 days or you're SOL. I got my system installed almost exactly a month ago, so it's too late for me to get my $100. That is a drag because I didn't know it was within 30 days. That seems quick to have to send something in, doesn't it?

Tracy was our sales rep and he was very nice. I enjoyed talking to him. I like him. But the installation experience was not so good because when they sent the literature out, they said that it’s $99 to install. But when I started selecting the things that I wanted, I ended up paying almost $1,000 and I wasn't prepared for that. But I was hyped about the fact that I was getting the service that I went ahead and paid it, but I was really upset. The guy that came out to install the system said that they could not tell us on the phone and that's not fair. We should know there's gonna be additional money and that the equipment is not included in the package of $99. When I got Digital Life, which I had when I switched to ADT, I didn't pay anything but there was a $99 installation fee.
It started out at 598 just for the basic package, but then I wanted additional camera and it was 299. I was so upset because I really wanted the cameras. If I wanted it, I had to buy it, so I went on and purchase it. But that experience was not good. I was not happy. I found out later that I could’ve kept Digital Life and bought their cameras for 198, which would’ve been way cheaper than what I got right now. ADT also told me that within three years I will have to renew. That's kinda scary because I don't know what they're gonna offer and I don’t know what it’s gonna cost me in three years to keep the service that I have.
I like the system and I'm still learning it. Right now I need to call and talk to somebody because I don't know how to capture. Like if somebody came in my front door, I don't know how to go and find that capture. Also, the camera in my family room is very blurry. If I look through it, you really have to magnify the picture to actually see. It’s very blurry for a $300 camera. Plus, I lost stuff coming with ADT. I lost the connection with my door which was connected to my remote system. It will unlock and lock my doors at 10 o'clock. Also my heater was connected to the remote on the wall and I lost that as well. I was disappointed in those things because I already had it. The CO connector was not added but because I was upset, the tech gave them to me.

We asked if it could be connected to our house and they told us yes, but he told us we had to pay another $200, but that wasn’t the agreement. We got Wi-Fi so we would have it on there, like if somebody rang the doorbell we could see who they are. And we made it distinctly that, “If we got the Wi-Fi, would you come and hook it up?” And he told us, “Yeah.” But nobody ever told us about $200 more.
Something should have been explained. He shouldn’t have made the agreement and we wouldn’t be paying more money for Wi-Fi. Why would we pay more money to them if we had went on and got the Wi-Fi? It’s a little cheaper, but that is not why we got it. We thought we would have the system to the Wi-Fi. That’s why we got it from ADT. We're not happy about that. When I was looking in the computer, Googling security cameras and things like that, I wanted someone who would do the installation. Since I recognized the ADT name (we hear it around), I set up an appointment with them. I have another property I don't live at, and I wasn't all that interested in having the house down there, but I wanted to put some cameras in. I had to get an internet connection down there and when I called Xfinity, they told me they couldn't install it the next day or two. They switched me over to ADT, so I made an appointment with them and they canceled the other one I had. When they showed up, the kid went and put the sensors in. I also built this big garage that I needed to include, and he put one sensor in there.
When they charged me, I gave the kid who was installing those stuff a credit card and he ran it through something. The next day, I have a message in the computer saying that there was one cent charged to my account. What does that mean? I just thought that the kid made a mistake. The next day, I got an email that said that I was charged $3. There was also a charge for $100 something to some ** site and I don't watch **. What happened was, whatever this kid ran my credit card on, I was hacked, and I'm getting these charges. I called my credit card company and they said they had to send me a new card. I then got an email saying that since they're sending me a new credit card, my credit card was declined.
The next payment never got on there and I paid ADT from another credit card, but I'm not too happy as far as that goes. Overall, the sensors are okay in the house, but I don't think the one they put in the garage is working, so I have to get in touch with them about that. I've been in the garage a couple of times and the sensor was not lit up, flashing or anything. I've been working around there and I never got any alerts on it either. Another thing is that, I still don't have the cameras, but that's not all their fault because the internet connection needed to hook up a different cable line. Now, I'm waiting for that to happen and that's roughly my experience.

He explained everything to me and now, I'd advise anyone to go with ADT. Initially, I heard that ADT was the best company as far as protecting the home and that's what I wanted. I had had two of their competitors and I didn't like any one of them. I couldn't get their equipment to work right. So I just called and cancel. The ADT system is a lot easier to navigate. The others had buttons and I didn't like that. This just goes with my phone.

Talking with the ADT sales rep over the phone was informative and the installation was smooth. It was very informative too. The rep showed me how to use the services from my phone. He went through practice scenarios such as opening the door, how the thing goes off and how to turn off the alarm. The only thing that I don’t like is when the alarm is tripped, it takes 30 seconds to notify me on my phone. I would like to know immediately when it is tripped and that doesn’t happen. I've called ADT and they said that it’s just how it works.

I had an old system hooked up before which went off even in the daytime and the least little thing would set it off. Also, they kept raising what they wanted and changing the price, and I just got really fed up with it so I just had their service disconnected. On the other hand, I heard good things about ADT. Their rep was very nice which was what made me go with them. And then, the installer, who was a young man, was very nice and he explained things very well. He was very patient with me so I would know everything. He was here almost seven hours. Usually, I don’t let people in my house or talk to them, but he was very nice. I like the system. It’s very simple and has been convenient. The installer moved the box where I have easier access to it, and I got a health alert, which is nice. I’m 77 years old and I’ve had a quadruple bypass so it really was nice to have that feeling of security. I’m happy with my system.

When I bought the home, it had ADT on it and it was 18 years ago. I also have a friend who's an ADT salesman at Atlanta, Georgia. When I talked to the rep over the phone, everything was great. I was very pleased with everything except for the fact that I've had some flood damage within the house and ADT came in a little after and before the mitigation team came in. Now, I can't set my alarm. I dealt with the technician on the phone so we could troubleshoot it but I had to be at my house for that to happen. Still, they were very professional and efficient.

I like the technicians. The only issue that I had with a technician in Virginia was that I paid a lot of money for specific sensors that I needed to get but the technician did not install the right ones. I ended up finding out years later that I had the wrong sensors. ADT reimbursed me some of the amount by giving me a free camera, which helped out a little bit. And usually, we have technicians that are awesome.
Recently, I also got a phone call from ADT stating that I owed money for closing one of my accounts in Florida. I travel and we had a home in Florida. But when I initially spoke to the representatives, they said that I wouldn't have to take care of that because I'm gonna start a new account. Then all of a sudden, they came back saying that I still owe $346. I said it is going to my credit. But that really surprised me. That got me a little bit upset with the services because I've been so loyal. I've been having services for eight years and I've had no issues. I've been paying on time and twice, I paid a very large deposit to have my system installed – in New Jersey and in Virginia. But other than that, I've had really good service.

I used Vivint in the past and we had a couple of issues with them. I got an email from ADT and I responded. Within a couple of seconds, I had somebody call me and answer a few questions. Then, ADT sent somebody out. However, I was misled. I understood that when their technician would come out to install stuff, they were gonna give a $100 gift card. That wasn't the case as I had to send out for it. Plus, I was supposed to have a paper that they were supposed to email to me but then they never did. I had to call but then I was told that there was a website. I went to that website and there was an email address that the site said I should email. I clicked on that, sent them an email and I got a reply saying that was a non-monitored email box and I needed to go somewhere else. That was a disaster.
Regardless, ADT had the equipment I was looking for and their system was just what I needed. The tech did a great job and was very informative. He knew his product and what he was talking about. He was quick too. The lady I spoke to on the phone told me that the techs would come out and do an evaluation. This would take an hour's time and they scheduled a time for them to come back. However, the gentleman who came out said that he needed to get things done today. He did tell me that he would schedule if the time didn't work for me. We were waiting on him to get here so we could leave and go do stuff. We ended up not being able to do that as the tech had to be at our place to get stuff done.

The installation of our ADT system was pretty good. It includes the security alarm and it already included the camera monitoring and we have about two cameras on the outside and two inside of the house. It's pretty easy to use. I was losing connectivity with a couple of the cameras but lately, everything has been working pretty good. One thing I've kind of been thinking about lately is checking to see what kind of monitors and cameras ADT has that we can install for the front of the outside of our house. I was looking at what it would take for something like that.

So, he explained to me how everything is wireless and I can take the equipment with me wherever I, as a military, would decide to move forward. So, it was amazing. We added the cameras and the Ring. The technology has improved so much. And I love the fact that I can control everything with the app. That is a huge plus, and I am glad that ADT has it.

Also, they had a more competitive price. Setting it up with them was seamless. I gave them a call that I wanted to switch and that I wanted to know the packages that they had. They sent me a $100 rebate, but I have no front copy of the contract that they were supposed to have me signed to get my rebate. I really don’t want the service anymore. I kinda wanna go somewhere else. It’s my first home and I have kids. I’m a single mom, and I wanted somebody that I thought would be a good company and reliable for my children. I was connected to Protect Your Home through Porch but I was telling ADT that I wasn't interested. I wasn't even closing on my house for another three weeks. Then they ran my credit without even asking so I almost got in trouble with my loan officer. You're not supposed to touch credit when you're in the middle of closing on a house. So that wasn't cool. Also, the advertisement that they had out was that it was gonna be the new digital system with seven sensors for free then a free key fob and a free camera for your doorbell. But all the system that they put in was the really old white one.
When I called about that, the guy from Protect Your Home actually put me on hold and asked somebody. Then he said that the digital systems weren't available in my area at that moment. He said somebody should've told me that the digital systems weren't available so that I could either decide if I wanted the old one or wait until they were gonna be available because they were gonna be available a month later. They installed the system on June 1st and the new ones were available on June 25th but the guy who came to install it didn't tell me that. So I'm stuck with this really old, white, ugly thing that doesn't even connect to my phone. I constantly have to call and get it troubleshooted and it's just frustrating.
It's partly my fault because I should've looked to see what he was doing. But I wasn't even living in the house yet. I was in the middle of moving stuff in my house and I wasn't really paying attention to the system that he put in. I didn't realize that it wasn't the digital system. But it's his fault too because he didn't tell me. He didn't go over the system with me. He went over stuff on the paper and just told me how much I was gonna end up paying. I was supposed to get the seven free sensors for the windows and the door but what he put in were not the free ones. They were the more advanced ones where if you shake the window, they would go off and I didn't realize that. So at the end, he was saying there was $850 of credit towards equipment. I wound up having to pay almost $900 out of my pocket, which I wasn't expecting.
When I sat down and looked at the contract a couple of days later, I saw that he had upgraded me to better sensors without telling me and I wound up having to pay for them all. That was fine. I'm not too upset about it. The price difference really wasn't that big a deal but it's just the fact that he didn't tell me. He didn't tell me that it was an older system and that the sensors were the newer ones. He could've sold me on them if he had told me and I would've paid for them. But he didn't. He just did it without saying anything.
I should've paid more attention when I was right in front of him but you only have three days to tell them that you don't want it. I didn't go to the house until a week later and I realized it was the old system. By then, it was too late to get out. I want an alarm system and I want ADT. I have always trusted them but it really sucks that I didn't get the most upgraded version that was advertised. I would have just gone through corporate ADT if I knew it was going to be this big of an issue. Protect Your Home won't even do anything for me. They won't put in the new system. I would have to pay to have that one installed even though I already paid to have the digital one installed and they gave me the old one. I'm getting the runaround on that.

My Realtor has a connection with an ADT sales representative. Her name was Ashley. I was in communication with her. Then I was calling AT&T. I was in the middle of moving into my house and I was needing them to switch over my internet from my apartment to my house. They mentioned there’s some connection promotion through AT&T to get ADT Security. So, I inquired about that. I don’t recall the conversation for ADT through AT&T to send anyone out. But one day, someone showed up at my door, and I happened to be home because that was the same day that AT&T came. I thought it was someone that Ashley had sent, and I was like, ”Oh. Well, this works.” I was gonna call back and have them install anyway.
So then, the installer came in, did his business, set everything up and went about his day. Then I called Ashley. I said, “Hey, thanks for sending him out. I don’t remember scheduling that, but thank you.” She said, “Wait. We didn’t.” That was what happened. Regardless, everything’s installed. I’m very happy with the service and the guy who came out was super friendly. Although, I’m still very confused as to how he knew to come. But he had the same package and same promotion that Ashley had.
He showed me a lot of paperwork. He mentioned all the things that I previously talked about with Ashley as far as the doorbell camera. I remember talking with her about having someone come out to look at what all the main entry points would be to decide what would be best for my house. And so, that was what I thought he was doing at first. Not that I was against it, but he started installing everything. He also mentioned the deluxe-more package that have the fancier screen for the dial pad that’s at the front door that Ashley had mentioned only came with the deluxe package. So, that also was a flag in my head like, “Okay. This is what I was talking to Ashley about.”
I love the system. It’s super convenient. I love being able to do everything from my phone. I also got the door lock thing. I have a townhome so if I’m up in my room on the third floor, I’m not trying to run all the way downstairs just to run all the way back upstairs. So, it’s nice to be able to unlock the door, see who’s at the door. I like being able to set the alarm, I never even really used the touchpad. I’ve never had to use the fob thing. I probably don’t even need it because I have it on my phone. The guy who came out also gave the little outlet thing that if you had a LAN plugged into it, you can turn it on and off. I’m still confused about how everything went down, but as far as recommending ADT to another person, it’s a great security system.

I had the most horrific experience ever. It was absolutely ridiculous. The crew that installed everything was wonderful but they put all sorts of equipment all over my home and had me sign a sheet and show them my credit card. I'm a senior and it was like, "What the hell?" They took $5,000 off my credit card. They didn't tell me that it was gonna be this high a price. My bill this month was $132. I called them and said I didn't want it. I tried the first three days to cancel but I got nowhere with this other company that ADT worked with. I thought I was working with ADT but they passed the buck to this other company. That company said that since I canceled on the fourth day, they were gonna have to charge me $1,600 to cancel. It was crazy. It was less than a week.
When I tried to get anywhere, ADT's main office apologized. They said they had joined forces with these people and that they're notoriously not working well with others. But why haven't they ironed things out and merged immediately? The gentleman who came and removed the equipment said they were told it was gonna be six to seven months and he kept apologizing. He said they should be honoring everything that ADT did but it's not working like that yet. I would have kept ADT if they had honored the 35 a month price.
I was misled. I'm a single woman here in the home by myself. I was told over the phone that the equipment is free as long as I stayed with them for a little while, that it's $30 a month and I get dah, dah, dah. That was two months ago and the system still doesn't work. But it does beep when I open my door. The gentleman who came here to remove this stuff accidentally left off a window or two. I had no idea they were putting the security on all my windows. I had been in and out of the home and the installers apparently went sky high. I didn't ask for that. I was thinking it was going to be 30 a month and I'd have two doors that were locked down.

My sales rep was fine we talked over the phone. But matching me up with the perfect package that met my needs was hard because I didn't have the house yet.
The installation takes a while so people should be ready for that. In my experience, it was kind of a struggle at times because one, I felt like it was way too long. Two, I didn't know that the rep was really hearing what I was saying. He would ask questions but not really listen to the answers. And when I had a number in mind for how much it would cost, he blew that out of the waterpark by over $1,000 and we had to rate it back in. That also extended the experience because we had to work through the "You're not hearing what I'm saying” thing.
But the rep explained what everything did and showed me the newest and fanciest model, which looks great. I told him I just spent a bunch of money on this house and I didn't have a whole bunch of extra to buy the fancy bells and whistles. I just wanted to make sure the house is protected. He explained everything ADT had but just didn't quite factor in the price point in the explanation. I made sure he brought the price down to what I wanted so I'm comfortable now with what I have.

ADT's rep wasn't provided information that I called in on the phone. What the phone rep committed to wasn't what the rep was given. The phone rep I spoke with said that I would get cameras. During the installation, the rep went through his sales presentation when I was expecting an installation. It took us almost two hours to go over the details of what had been committed to me. So, it was a three-hour deal. I finally had to talk to his manager and tell them that if they were trying to upsell me, I already knew what I wanted and if they couldn't do it, they should pack up their stuff and leave. I ended up with an alarm system but with no cameras. I am paying what the person on the phone told me I would be spending, which is $27. Still, the sales rep who came made a presentation for me to pay $60 per month for video.
There's a lot of miscommunication between ADT personnel. Whoever is on the phone does not explain the information properly to customers. We could've avoided a lot of frustration and a lot of miscommunication if the information when I called in initially about getting the system had been conveyed to the installers. It's ADT fault for not properly training their phone rep to convey information to individual remote offices.

I've been with ADT for nearly three years and I've always had problems. The monitoring system always goes down in communication so inadvertently, the alarm goes off. The beeping usually goes off at 3:00 a.m., 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. My husband and I are both in the medical field, and unfortunately, it couldn't be when we were at work or at 8:00 at night. It had to always be the wee hours of the morning. The rep said that there was some kind of malfunction and I'm actually in the process of getting an appointment to have the whole system changed out.
But if I had known the challenges, how there was going to be communication errors, I would have tried to investigate that further. There's no true way for you to tell that though, unless you speak to a previous homeowner or somebody that lives within the neighborhood. That would be the only thing. In fact, I'm looking, perhaps, at something else to replace ADT. But the customer service is great. They do the best that they can, given the situation. Everybody has been super kind and helpful. The issue has nothing to do with the people. It has everything to do with the technology and the equipment.

Everybody's situation is a little bit different, whether you've got pets, whether you've got kids, whether you travel, whether you're home most of the time, or whether you have close proximity to neighbors, all of the things that are contributing factors to potential threats. So it's not a one size fits all and not one security system is good for every situation. So, that dialogue with the security company and a better understanding will give the consumer the best result. And that was where ADT did a very good job. The reps explained everything in detail. We collaborated on what our needs were and they did try and move us towards higher-end purchases. They explained the benefits versus the risks and tried to explain their position. However, when I explained what our needs were, they were very accommodating and not overly pushy.

My dad has ADT and I liked them. It's good to have their security system. When I purchased it, their sales reps broke everything down. If I didn't understand something, they broke it down for me to where I could understand it and how everything went. The prices that I got was also pretty good and I’m a satisfied customer. But at first, they had my address all wrong in the system. It was a good thing that I called and talked to one of the customer service representatives, and she got my address right. Then for the installation, the tech came right away to the correct address with no problem and he installed all the stuff in a timely fashion.
Other than that, I wish that when I first talked to the customer representative she would've explained to me more about the camera. She had me thinking I was gonna get a package where I'd get a free camera. But she didn't tell me that in order for me to get the camera, I had to pay for the upgrade. So, that made me do away with the camera and just get the security system. I kinda felt kinda bad because I wasn’t able to get my camera like I wanted to and I didn't find out until the guy that installed everything explained that part to me. He also said that he had another customer that had that same problem. But it's not a big deal and I’m still gonna get the camera.

I need the alarm system as soon as possible but now I'm talking to other people and I'm thinking the plan I got from ADT is expensive. Other people have more cameras and gadgets than me and less monthly payment. My neighbor got maybe eight cameras and he didn't pay for one, not even for installation. They were totally free. I might need a few more cameras and also, I haven't gotten the $100 gift card yet from ADT. The installation guy was also a little rude but it was all right. I talked to one of the managers earlier on the phone. The installation guy was charging some extra money for cameras and I didn't know why. He was not telling me clearly. His manager was saying it's free and when I asked him to talk to his manager, he completely declined.

I had ADT years and years ago. And then when I got married my husband had switched to someone else, and we stayed with them for a while. And I told them I was ready to go back ADT because we were changing addresses too. Everything went well with the switch. The rep answered the questions that my husband had, and that was good. It was a smooth installation.
I had my husband to call because the day when the man came, I was kinda sick. I had him get some answers to some questions. But the only thing he did not ask about was what's the key chain alarm. When I called ADT to get the alarm system installed the rep was telling me all the things I was eligible for since we were veterans. It was free home security and we got something added on to that. They said a hundred dollars visa gift card will be coming later in the mail. He also got the free wireless remote on the cell phone, but the key chain thing we don't have.

ADT's competitors went up on me four years ago, $10 a month, so I had to talk to them about it and they said a whole bunch of baloney, including it was a better system. I go by the amount of the bill per month and I try to keep what we can afford to keep. We went with ADT. We've had it before and I've always had a good experience with them. I'm happy with it. The rep was nice and he tried to work things out where I could accept them. It didn't take too long to install the system either. It all seemed to work out satisfactory. We're supposed to get a $100 credit card and if we get that, everything will be fine.

Some people like the Ring app, but I don't like to be on my phone all the time. A lot of other people like to always be on their phone too, so the Ring app might be better for them. If you don't want to be dependent on your phone all the time, ADT is better off. It works for me. With the Ring app, you see the feed on your phone and I don't know if they call the cops for you, but if I'm gone, I'm gone. I like ADT because I don't have to do anything. They’ll take care of things.
However, if I ever needed it, the response time would be my main concern. I haven't had an issue where I've needed the police to come, but people always say that when the alarm goes off, there's always a delay by the time the police station gets it. There is going to be at least a five minute delay before they get here because it has to go to ADT and then they have to call to confirm that there's an issue. I've been with ADT for two years now and I haven't had any issues with them, so if it ain’t broke, don't fix it. Also, if I need something (like a new sensor), they come down and install it right away.

The installer knew what he had to do and he was able to explain the process. He had his equipment ready although he ran out of the key fobs so, we had to reschedule. The system is quite easy to navigate since I’m gonna keep the keypad function to code. I would be able to connect and set up from the phone and I have the regular device detection. The app is a little old compared to the current style but it does its function so, it’s okay.

ADT's installer was nice and very helpful but then their reps are awful. They're rude and they've had me in tears by the end of every phone call. Plus, they accused me of lying when I tried to cancel their service. It bogged my internet down really badly and I can't use anything else in my house with their system. They said they didn’t receive the notarized letter that I faxed them and the fax machine didn’t print a timestamp on it. Now, they can't take it because there is no timestamp to confirm that I faxed it to them. I have cameras proving that I was at the company that I used to fax it. Plus, I have two managers that were willing to sign off on it. ADT's reps still couldn't process my cancellation.

The sales rep that I spoke to was pretty courteous, concise, and friendly. They didn’t try to oversell me on anything. They were pretty honest about ADT’s policies and set-ups. Then the installer that came out was polite. He knew what he was talking about. He explained the pricing and packages. He didn’t try to hide anything. He also gave honest feedback when I had questions on specific packages and equipment, and what was really necessary and what wasn’t. So, that was appreciated. He also demonstrated the system. He went through how to arm and disarm from that home console or that main screen. He made sure that I downloaded the app, knew exactly how to access everything, including saving footage, in my instance, captures, how to delete captures, and how to set up alert contacts.
ADT is based out of Indiana. I live in Indianapolis, so it just made natural sense because a lot of my neighbors have ADT. As far as customer service and installation and overall product, it's fairly typical for a security system. The equipment works as intended. I like the features that they have, their software. The only real issue is it's a little higher as compared to some of the other security systems that I hear about in the advertisements. But I wouldn’t say that that’s a real turnoff to me because ADT offers a lot. I just wish the price was a little bit better. Customer service was about on par with what I would expect. I've had an overall pleasant experience.

I've been with ADT for three years now. What stood out to me was their low price that I was able to get. I have eight motion sensors around the house and the technician that came was very professional and friendly. He lived in the neighborhood and I was new, so he was able to give me a rundown of how the neighborhood is, which was very encouraging. The neighborhood that we moved to was very nice and I didn't think that the security system would've been necessary, but I was getting it to have peace of mind. Somebody who would look to cut corners wouldn't need to get one, but we wanted to do it. However, I would like to add that before I bought my Ring doorbell and my Ring spotlight, I wanted to contact ADT in regards to their security cameras.
I was looking for something that didn't have to be electronically hooked up. Something like solar or battery charged (preferably solar). There weren't too many options on that end and the ones that they offered were priced astronomically. This would've been an add-on, so I understand the cost would've been increased, but it was a lot more than what I was looking for. It swung me to go and purchase the Ring doorbell because it was a lot more affordable, and it did the same thing. One other thing is that I haven't been able to utilize their app fully. I have a very basic package with them, so I don't think I have any access to their app and that would be something nice to have in the future. With access to their app, I could scroll through my zones and just have access to my system.
Other than that, it's been an all-around good experience and we're very happy. My wife says it's a good service, that they are are a reputable and reliable security company. Any time that we've had any issues arise or any sounds or whatever, they were in touch with us. Any time my alarm has gone off and there has been a real issue, I've gotten a call from them, which has been really nice. One time, when the alarm was being triggered, it appeared that it was the same sensor. I called, and they were able to help me identify which zone it was by walking me through on the keypad. That was nice of them to do.

ADT's was pre-installed in the house that I purchased. In the first year or so, things were fine. One time, the battery ran low. The battery beeping noise was so terrible for my dog then that I had to figure out how to get it to stop. I ended up having one of ADT's techs come out and look at my system. However, I specifically asked ADT to send someone out to look at my system and that I would have preferred not to install anything new. Instead of utilizing the existing system though, they ended up giving me an additional wireless service. Now, I have two different spots in my house for ADT's system. There is one that is inactive from when the home was built and the other which the tech guy installed. The wireless things he put in are not hardwired and I can remove that myself. I've done that in several spots as I've needed to in order t o make modifications.
The system has been functioning well so far. Whenever it beeps, I know where the specific alarms are. I know that if I hear something, something's going on. So, it makes me feel a little bit safer. Being with ADT has been easy and convenient. Still, it would have been nice for ADT's tech to tell me what was happening or to have attempted to work on my existing wiring.

It gives me a little peace of mind knowing I have a burglar alarm. So far as security is concerned, I've got no complaints. The county seat is 17 or 18 miles away from me and there are not that many deputies patrolling the counties. ADT is very prompt about calling them. If you’re trying to cut corners, price will be a major factor to determine that. Xfinity is there offering low prices and there is Ring services as well. They’re offering monitoring and recording at a very low cost and everything is there. They charge $10 a month. Why should I pay $40? You get the same service. The linked monitor service is going to call you, call the cops. If they detect unusual activities, they’re going to call you. There are so many things they do. It is linked with your doorbell. But, I got upset because it was one thing written on their ad, and then when they got out here, it was a whole different ballgame. They say I could get it for 27.99 a month. It did not say anything about I had to pay this extra money. I paid $100 something one time, then I paid the guy when he was here. I put it on my credit card. Then I had to pay another $100 something. But I had already signed and I’m going to keep it until the time runs out, and then I’m going get rid of it because the thing he told me was going to be 50 something and it is 55. I don’t like liars. I signed it for 36 months. So, I have to keep it for three years.
Then they were supposed to send me a $100 Visa, but I ain’t got that. I wear glasses and the little bitty writing was on a paper and my son told me, “Mom, you should’ve read that little bitty writing. I bet all the stuff you are complaining about is on it”. The guy also said that it was wireless, and then he had come in here and made a hole in my wall. I just had put up these new sheetrock, and then he did not clean the mess up. He left it. It’s all right though. I wanted the camera thing too, but I would have had to pay $385 that day, the 3rd of June. They are very quick to respond. The quality of the system is fine. When we moved to this system, the other system had been 10 years old in the other house. So this has all kinds of wi-fi enabled things, more battery backup and more remotes that came with it. In this house, we never had any issue with customer service when we reach out. But, in the other house, I was not happy -- we had problems with the system and they could not get somebody to come in and address the system before we left on vacation.

I was the one who went down on my crawl space to run the ** wires. What did I pay them for? Nothing.
Then the tech hooked it up and it worked for one day and then didn’t work after that. And then I call, “Hey, come fix it.” They said, “Oh, did you try this? Did you try this?” So I said, “Forget it,” and that I wanted to opt out of the plan. I paid 600 something dollars for a three-year plan and didn’t even use it. After two years they were sending me bills saying, “Hey, you gotta pay, you gotta pay ‘cause you didn’t tell us to cancel your thing, it’s automatically enrolled.” So ADT to me is probably the most piece of ** company I’ve ever dealt with.

I was weighing ADT against SimpliSafe and a couple of other competitors and the cost is like night and day. And I know ADT to be the highest in the industry, but it was a significant premium to end up going with ADT. I wish the guys who made the initial call with me gave me a better deal or prepared me.
I thought we could afford to get more sensors and things like that and getting smacked with a big bill to feel decently protected was a bit of a shocker. I felt like I had to get creative with our installer to feel covered in a basic sense. I had planned on adding a camera and having all these various other things that we're just going to have to wait until I don't know when. I had ADT for my other house and I recently moved. Since I'm a construction project manager, we couldn't make our appointments or call. So, the installer was supposed to be here at 11:00 but he didn't get here until 2:00. When he got here, my daughter was by herself. She called me and said, "Dad, I'm concerned. There's three men in my house now." So, the guy was here. He called somebody else, and then they called another guy. I've done this before. You don't need three men to do this install. I had to leave my job early.
Those guys were still here at 6 o'clock at night. The guy was incompetent. He didn't know what he was doing. He didn't finish and couldn't get my key fob to work. He didn't get my back door done and my door lock wouldn't work. I could not lock my door. So, he left without even telling me. It was my fault. I should've told him, "Let me try this door lock," but it was not my job to do that. He was supposed to put the door lock in and then show me how they operate it, but he did not. Come nighttime, I went to lock the door and that's when the fun began. How was I supposed to go to work? Leave my front door open?
The guy was supposed to come back the next day. I took the next day of work off because I was not having that same fiasco from the day before. He said he would be here the next day. Guess what? He never showed up. I sent him text messages, "Hey, brother, where you at? I really need to do things. I can't sit in my home all day because I cannot leave my door unlocked." I could have fixed it, but I didn't want to touch it because then I would void the warranties and they would say it was my fault. So now, came the next day, nothing from him. I tried to do things the right way to try to help him out. I sent a message, "If you don't respond to me within the next half hour, I'm calling your boss. I'm calling ADT." No response.
So, I called ADT. I got on the phone with them. "Let me get a manager for you." I didn't want anything. I wanted out of this contract. I am not dealing with their incompetent people. I missed three days working. They gave me three months of the $59. That was an insult to me. I'm a construction project manager. I make 389 a day.
Then the following day, they sent sent the same moron back to my house. Again, it took him forever to finish it up and my back door still does not make contact on it. I am very dissatisfied. I was out three days pay and had to sit home. That was the worst part. Because how am I going to leave my house? And still, my back door has no contact. And now, I have to call ADT because two of my cameras outside aren't infrared. The camera in front of my driveway at nighttime is pitch-black. And the one by the back porch is completely black because it's not infrared. With the light on, you can see. It's insane. He put the improper cameras outside of my home.

I used ADT in the past. I had another home that I had installed ADT equipment in and I was happy with their service. I shopped around and I priced it with a couple of different competitors and I felt more comfortable going with ADT. The sales rep scheduled the appointment to have somebody come out and they came out and presented me with all the information. She told me a lot of stuff that wasn't actually accurate in the sense that she told me that I would get all this equipment for free. She made it sound like it was gonna cost me nothing, which I knew wasn't the case.
I told her all the equipment I had in the house and she said they would just upgrade all that. She said it wasn't gonna cost anything, but I paid $99 to have them come out. Once the guy got out, he showed me all the equipment. The installation was excellent. The young guy who came was super friendly. He worked really quickly. He installed all the equipment very fast and thoroughly. He was great. He was a really nice guy. The equipment has been great. Everything has worked the way he explained it would work.

It was a good experience with the sales rep of ADT. On the phone, when I talked to the representative, I discussed about the 27.99 plan and I asked about the hidden charge. They said there are no more hidden charges and that’s the only thing which I needed to pay. But I was shocked to hear from the person who came to install. The discussions with him were not that great. It was a pushy kind of discussion. When I said 27.99 is what I was expecting, but then, 53.99 is what it was costing. Then, I almost told no to installation. But then it was not his fault. In the end, I took it, even though the prices were higher than what I was planning for. I was expecting more from ADT because it's like the leaders in the security space, compared to what Ring or SimpliSafe, or Nest are currently offering. But, it's not a great experience and since I was bound by the contract, I’m going to stick to it now.

I went with ADT because of some of the reviews I have found out about them and the different things they offered. I've had them for three years and I haven’t had any trouble. What I don't like, however, is that we live in a bad service area so we cannot get cameras or anything through them. So, it is strictly for the security system. Other than that, they are quick to respond. We always had our alarm go off when we were not at home a few times and we got calls right away.

ADT is the best and we like them but we didn’t know that Protect Your Home was not ADT and that they were a contract. But we wanted ADT so we went with them. The reps from Protect Your Home had knowledge but we were baited-and-switched. We called to get a quote and the guy said that they couldn’t give one until they come out. They came over and they were very pushy. They said that I would pay twice as much if they leave right then. The guy put our alarm up in a spot without even asking us exactly where we wanted it and he was in our house for seven hours. It was a little bit intense and he oversold us. I’ve already made calls on this, so they’ve rectified it since then. They took some money off. I like the product even though the experience that we had was not the best. It was frustrating but it’s all fine now.

The majority of the people in my neighborhood had ADT and when I saw advertisements on television, I liked what I saw and heard, which was my I chose them. I felt good about the purchasing process. The workmen were very knowledgeable of their craft and I haven’t had any trouble with the merchandise, whereas with Vivint, the last company I had, they had glitches in their operating materials. I like the chimes that ring on the inside of your house but I couldn’t get that type of connection with ADT. I settled for the ring on the phone, however, if you don’t have your phone on your person, it doesn’t ring loud enough for you to hear it, whereas if you have the chimes within the house, no matter where you're at, you would hear it. ADT needs to have that as an option. Most of us homeowners would pay extra just for the convenience.

I had a good experience with the sales rep of ADT. He was informative. The installer was very knowledgeable too. He was able to answer my questions and it was a good experience as well. He wasn’t able to do everything that he could have done because he was being rushed by his manager. He was trying to explain stuff to me, and then we kept being interrupted because the manager kept calling him. But he was doing everything he was supposed to be doing. We talked with the gentleman a lot and he didn’t feel stressed about all our questions. Everything went well and they went in and out quickly. They didn’t mention though that ADT would bill a month ahead of time. If they were more forthcoming with that, then it probably would have been better but it was no big deal.

We didn’t have internet set up at the time, so we couldn't do our doorbell thingy. I called yesterday and told them that I’m ready to install the doorbell camera. The company said that they were backstocked and that I should call next week. The installation went pretty well and smoothly. It was pretty quick. The guy was great. We accidentally set off our alarm a couple of times, but hopefully have gotten to them so that was nice. The 45-second delay was good.

I did some research online and I decided to go with ADT because their monthly fee was cheaper. When I talked with their sales rep, he made sure that I got the day that I wanted to get my service started and was helpful. But he ended up transferring me to somebody to make sure I had my military discounts. The installation went fine, too. There were products that the installer asked me if I wanted and I got most of them, but I declined a couple of them. The installation took about an hour and a half and he discussed everything that he was gonna install. So far, I like the system. I also like that they have the camera system where I can have an app on my phone as well as on my tablet and I could access it.

Once we set the appointment up with them, the rep was here on time. He was very helpful to us, friendly and explained everything to us. He went the extra mile to make sure we understood the system. He did a good job selling the product but he was a little pushy on a few things. I had to stop him on it and tell him that we were after certain items. He set out and went over everything with us before he installed the system. He installed the system quickly and once he installed it, he showed us how things work. We've had a couple of questions and called the 1-800 number. They were helpful in getting us through it so everything has been going fine right now.

I’ve had a service request in that I placed on Monday and they are coming out between 11:00 and 1:00 tomorrow because the system is not functioning in a way I would want and/or expect. We have beeping and it is not conducive to sleep or calm. The system says there’s an error and you got something in the dining room, but there’s no equipment in there. I paid for the equipment and I own it. I know I’m not getting my money back. But that doesn’t mean we have to monitor it. So if we can’t shut it up, then I’ll just quit being monitored.
I wanted something straightforward and basic. I don’t need my cellphone to tell it what to do while I’m away in Australia. I just wanna push the button when I leave the house and it’s protected. We went through the whole drill about motion protectors and sensors. ADT did a very good sales job of giving me the slack to figure out what I wanted and did not want and why, and we got along well. I made two other calls before I talked to ADT because in general principle, national companies can sometimes be less responsive. ADT does not have a great reputation in that regard. But I figure everything is local anyway if you got a good crew locally.

I had Night & Day for three years but I could never get anyone. If I called them to ask a question on how to do or fix something, I just got a recording and nobody ever called back. So I decided to go with another company. The gentleman that ADT sent out to set up my program was very good. He explained everything to me and when he had to come back out because I had a trouble sign, he fixed everything for me. But I’m having another problem now so I still have a trouble sign on my monitor. I’m just wondering why they haven’t called me about it. I’m gonna have to call them, I guess. Despite that, I can set the alarm with no problem so everything is going pretty well.
The only thing that I really don’t like is when I called back, asking about maybe getting some cameras or the Ring doorbell, they said it’s $279. I thought they haven't fixed all my problems here yet and that’s a lot of money. That aside, they have really good service and it is 27.99 a month now so it’s a little bit less than what I was paying originally with the other company.

He couldn’t come up with the answers. He just needs to be schooled a bit so he could answer questions better. But his customer service skills were amazing. ADT has a great and reputable history and it’s one of the better-known brands. Their price was right around the same as everywhere else so we might as well go with the best security. They were very understanding, gentle and not pushy. They gave me the facts and were very to the point but they let me make my own decision. I never felt pressured into buying anything.
We almost didn’t even get the security system and the installer was ready to pack up. Then we decided we were gonna go with it, so he unpacked everything. He was fantastic. We kept him at the house for a very long time. I was unsure of what the prices were of each service and we were asking him questions about prices and things like that. That was something that I could have looked at on a piece of paper and decided for myself what the best plan was and whether we could move forward or not. But he was very understanding to all of our questions and very patient with us and had a good temperament. Also, I was very impressed because not only was there the talk about the installation, there was information about how to better deter your home from burglars and things like that on top of the security system to better fit our needs and protect us.

Based on the reputation and dependability of ADT, I went with them. The installation took about six hours altogether. The Ring video bell is working but the chimes are still not working. Since ADT carries the devices for the outdoor cameras, they should have their technicians train on fixing those types of things instead of having somebody else to do it. For example, in my situation, they installed a video doorbell and they should have the proper knowledge to troubleshoot whatever line that went with that if something was not working.

And just to be on the safe side, I have told him, “What about an alarm system for the house?” He said it was a great idea and I got ADT. Whenever I’ve had an issue ADT generally sends somebody out right away. The system is working great, especially when the alarm goes off, which I have set off myself a couple of times. They have a very good vibe and were very easy to communicate with. The person who I initially talked with was really great. She put me on the phone with one of her supervisors who got me another discount or waived some sort of fee because I’m a new grad student. They helped me set up the appointment.
The tech who did installation was super awesome. He went over costs with us, and I wanted to think about it. He said, “Sure, but then I won’t be the one coming back.” We liked him so much we wanted to make sure he got the commission. We didn’t want him to be punished for not making the sale just ‘cause I wanted to think about it. He also said anytime I need to call, he'd be there to help whenever. The installation was super easy and everyone has been super nice when my alarm goes off. I like the easy peephole. But the app is what I love the most about the system. It's user-friendly and if there is a false alarm, I can pop in there, see if there’s any motion without having to call or them calling me.

When I called the first time and told ADT about what I needed in the house, they gave me some credit. They told me they wanna give me some motion sensors in the house and some keys to disconnect the alarm from outside. When the person came to install, he didn't want to do that. He put the sensors in the windows and the doors. He then said that he'd make it ready for $2,000. I was then told that they would install what we need, which was what I got. The sales representative answered all of our questions and provided us with the necessary information to get us started. The installation went very well. We really liked the guy a lot. However, two days after we put in our new system, we got a letter from ADT saying that we'd be able to get the same service that we have now except for less money for a year. What we got was a gift card for $100 dollars. In order to get that, I have to send in information and pay the $4.95 "shipping and handling" to the MPELL. Then the gift card itself was only a $95.05 or $94.05. There's an installation fee of $99. So then that made it so that it wasn't really a free install. It would have been a free install and less money if I'd have waited two days. That was kind of a bummer.
Did I really get the best deal? Probably not, but I wanted the service. I felt like they upgraded us because we were previous customers. We have door sensors and a motion detector. And so, maybe we got an extra something that the package deal two days later would not have included. I would tell whoever I recommended it to to talk with the person to make sure that it's the best offer available out there. There might be an opportunity if there is something else out there for the salesperson to be able to give that if it's out there. But we didn't know and we didn't ask. I'm very satisfied with the service overall.

We were very pleased.
They told me that the system was gonna have the little camera on the door but when the system was installed, they didn't do that. Other than that, it’s got the app where you can do it remotely, which has been very, very handy. We’ve already had to use that to cut it off. The wind on the back porch was really strong, blew over a very light cabinet and it went against the window. It didn't break it, but it jarred it enough to set the alarm off. So it did its job. The rep that I dealt with over the phone was really good. The home rep was good too, but there was something that was discrepant from the initial point of sale. From my understanding, I was supposed to only pay a $100 fee for install and I would get the money back in a Visa gift card. But I haven’t gotten the gift card and I also ended up paying $300 to the technician and I wasn’t quite sure why. What was the additional $300 for if I was already paying for the install?
I asked for the cameras initially on the point of sale since I already had the regular monitoring system. The camera feature was important. So I got one camera and I have a doorbell. My husband got frustrated and asked them why they didn’t tell us all this upfront. I didn’t have time to call customer service back to question it because the process was so long. The tech explained everything well but it was an unexpected expense that I wasn’t prepared for.
The tech went over everything. He did a walk-through with the exception of my upstairs. He kinda gave me an idea of the most commonplace and how break-ins may occur and where you will probably want the system. Everything was great until he came down with the $300. That was the last thing that kinda got me because I was ready to not go through with it because they should have told me everything upfront so I can make an informed decision. So there was a gap in the whole process. Overall, the service was great but there was lack of communication.

One day, I got a postcard in the mail from ADT offering the service for 29.99 with free camera and it kinda hooked me. 29.99 sounded affordable so, I talked to my husband and he said to call them. So, I did and they came out. They upgraded everything because I had old equipment in here. So they put the new cameras and I got all the bells and whistles. It was a few years ago and we got into a financial depletion somewhat and I had to cut down on the budget, and ADT was one of the ones that I had to cut. So, they reduced it because of my financial hardship, but then it got to where I couldn't even afford the reduction. But it was very nice of ADT to do that. We got back on our feet a little bit and my husband got some work but then, I just never bothered hooking back up for some reason. I should've gone back but I just let it go.
This time, I said that if they want my business back, I want all the bells and whistles and they complied. Everything went good but I did not know, when they came out, that the 29.99 is their base. Being old and not understanding things, I thought I was getting all the bells and whistles for 29.99 but the guy was nice enough to explain everything. According to ADT, I would be paying 59.99 now and husband said to go through with it and see if we can afford it. Right now, I'm at the high-end of ADT, which I won't know for about a few months or so if I can really afford it or not. But I understand I'm under a three-year commitment with it. I gotta try to afford it for three years, which kinda upset me, but I'm the organizer and the financial planner here, so I'm foreseeing hopefully we'll be able to afford for three years without them taking me to credit.
I'm gonna keep trying it, plugging away and see how it goes. Maybe if I run into a financial bind, they will help me out a little bit like they did before. They knocked $10 off till we got back on our feet. We'll work through it but we did want to have all the cameras on and the vision because the 29.99 was just base. It would give you the alert and that's it. There are a couple of things that bothered me, but we got through them and everything's on top now.

I thought these people that were gonna come were from ADT. Plus, I wanted cameras. When I called and asked them about the cameras, they said that I have to pay $300 for each camera then my payment would go up. I told them that I would have to think about it. The company that came in was Impel. Then, they said that they would almost give me $2,000. I'm gonna get a discount. But bottom line, I had to pay $500 something for the cameras. They changed the equipment, like in the front, and they gave me three extra cameras plus included the installation so that was fine.
I never got a real price from the salesperson maybe because I wasn't sure of how many cameras I wanted. Then, both the salesperson and the other company were telling me that they would give me a certain amount of money because I already had monitors on my windows, so they didn't have to do a big job. I'm pleased with the job. However, I was hoping they'd tell me that this is what it’s gonna cost me. They should be more transparent regarding the people that are gonna go are people that they contract, and they're gonna do this job, and they're gonna charge this amount of money. But so far, I haven't had any problems with the door and with the alarm.

When I had a home before, I had Brinks which was bought by ADT. Now that I just bought a house and I feel more secure if I have a security system. When I first started calling I didn’t like it because it was high pressure to give your social security number and I kept explaining to them that I hadn’t gone through a closing yet. They tell you that you need to leave everything alone until after you close. They didn’t seem to understand that. I was just trying to get an appointment after my closing so that I could have them to come in very quickly and install the system. They wouldn’t give me an appointment without doing my social security.
Installation was horrible. The tech came in a new house with new carpet. He did not wear shoe protectors. He did put on a mask, and it was later determined that he had the coronavirus. He kept on pressuring, trying to get you to pay the higher fee. He wanted to put the system anywhere he wanted to on the wall, and I told him, “No. You will put it where I say it goes or else you could leave.” They don’t put them near the front door necessarily any because then he said he would have to drill and do all of this. They wanted to go through the cell phone which costs more. I have a landline and he would say that if he had to it through the landline that he had to put it near an outlet.
I was trying to find a place where I can live with it going because he wanted to put it in the middle of the living room wall. Then he wanted to put it on a desk stand. He ended up putting it on the second floor, in between a second bedroom and a bathroom and a third bedroom. He finally got the message and he’s constantly quoting all of this stuff, “Well, if you get this, you’ll end up paying 58.99 a month.” I said, “I’m only paying 27.99 because you don’t have to tell me anything else.”
I was a new homeowner, and they will install $850 worth of stuff, and you could pay the $100 but they didn’t tell you you’re gonna have to pay taxes on the $600. So each time it’s going up. In the end, you get a $100 gift card but you have to fill out all of these papers later on and send a check for 4.95 and then they’ll send you the $100 gift card. They should also be honest and upfront. I was supposed to get two of a keychain out, but they just give you these little things that are on nothing and you’re supposed to put them on your little keychain, which they don’t fit because there’s no little wire thing on it, it’s just hard plastic. Then they’ll tell you you only get one. But on the paper it says it comes with two.

After he was done, he had borrowed some things and just left the garbage all over the place. One thing I was promised that I haven’t received was a gift card afterward. They told me three to five days after installation, that that one would come in the mail and I haven’t seen it. But I’ve worked with different systems and ADT is really user-friendly. It’s simple to use and it’s easy to navigate whether it’s the app or the actual display box. The cost is fair as well. I can’t really complain. I was with Xfinity and I was getting a quarter of the product and almost paying the same.

I had a flyer come in the mail and I called ADT. Everything went fine. Customer services responded okay and they said something about getting a gift card. But the package deal that I thought was free wasn't free because I ended up paying almost $1,000-something for the setup. Also, I still can't understand why they put the account in my brother's name but it's all good. The installer was fine and he did a good job. My package includes a doorbell. I already have the motion detectors.

The old provider was in my husband's name and we divorced a month ago. I was looking for my own system and I had nothing against the old provider but the rates were better with ADT and so, I went ahead went with them. I called customer service on Monday concerning the alarm system. When you open the door, it should automatically say garage door open but when I do, it's a two to five second lag time. The rep told me there's a two-second lag time and that was fine but I would prefer it to be real-time. When someone is opening my door, I wanna know it that moment. I don't want two seconds later to tell me someone's at my door. Worst case scenario, it could be a thief. He's two seconds ahead of me already, so I don't like that.
I asked ADT if there is any way they could send someone out. He told me that there was nothing they could do because it's a back-end communication system with a sensor and the keypad. That was not the answer that I was looking for because I left my old alarm company to go to ADT. People speak highly of them so I'm upset that the rep said the two-second gap is normal. My life is important and that does not sit well with me. I'm a single mom now and newly divorced. My husband's not crazy but I'm home alone now by myself and my daughter sleeps upstairs, and I don't want anybody breaking to her window and I'm two seconds plus behind into her.
I hear, when I'm on hold, that every millisecond, a house is broken into. So every second counts, if it's between me and a robber. Nobody is willing to fix it and they're okay with it. So I'm considering going back to my old alarm company because there was no lag time and it’s not a good excuse to tell any customer, especially if it's security-related, that a few seconds is okay.
I've only had their system now for about 21 days. So, I'm gonna call again to let them know about the lag time. I'm disappointed that the tech who installed it didn't recognize and did not hear it. But I had four different people in my house doing things so it kinda was like I heard it but then I didn't hear it. Now that I've been in my home by myself, I'm hearing it. I'm going back and forth with customer service on trying to get it fixed. I called because I want them to fix it and I also want it documented. If somebody does come in my house, I want it documented that I called and tried to get this corrected but they are not willing to do it. Right now, I feel somewhat not safe because I don't like the delay.
Hello Redia. We apologize for your experience. We see that a service tech, Diego, was at the home and advised the system is working as intended. We are unable to adjust/change the time required for the sensor to send the signal to your system that a door has been opened. Thank you. -Andrew

I had Vivint and was not satisfied with their service. The equipment never really worked and we had issues with it. It was the same troubleshooting over the phone anytime I would call. I had the doorbell that has a camera and some clips broke on it. So, we called and told them and they started telling me that the equipment was not under warranty and that I would have to cover the price plus the tech fee, which was gonna be about 50 bucks. The equipment was gonna be another $250 and if I’ve got to pay that much, I might as well see how much it was gonna cost to pay out the contract and go with somebody that I am satisfied with, which was what I did. ADT was number one with my search so I went with them.
I got somebody on the customer service line on a weekend and they explained their packages, how they do the installs and the fees. They explained that if anything breaks or anything happens, the equipment is warrantied. If there is a tech visit needed, it’s free. So, that sold me. I had ADT in the past at a different location and I was fine with the service then so, I went ahead and set up a consultation for them to come out and do the install. I had somebody on the phone that weekend so, it was quick. The young man that came over didn't take very long at all in installing the panel and the other items that we were doing inside the house. He was also very nice although he was a little scattered. We were gonna do the cameras outside and he realized that he had forgotten or left the wire that they use. He had a previous job so he came back the next day and finished it out.
The door locks that I currently had on there were not compatible with the ADT system, which wasn’t his fault, but when he came back the next day, he was supposed to stop and get the door lock and he forgot. So, after that, I had to call ADT and have them send somebody else out because he was going on some sort of medical leave. So, that was the only little inconvenience about the back- and-forth. But other than that, it was good all in all. I'm happy with all the equipment that I have and the panel is easy to use, so I don't have any issues. I like having the cameras outside, which I didn't have with Vivint. It’s nice to be able to look into the backyard, see the pool and make sure everything's okay.

ADT has six operation centers and I compared it with Brinks. Brinks only has one center and if their center goes down, then I’m out of luck. They are a little cheaper, but I’d rather have better protection. I was looking for which was more reliable, and to me, ADT was more reliable. They were easy to work with and to talk to. They explained everything clearly to me. The installer installed the system pretty cleanly. The installation took about 30 minutes. The rest of the time was mostly him going over everything with me step-by-step and how things work and showing me how to operate everything.

ADT's rep was very professional and informative about their product. He told me how to work it and how to change batteries. He told me maintenance dos and don'ts. I was very confident with my equipment when he left. Afterward, I had an issue with my smoke alarm which went off a few times. We take breakfast in the morning and so the kitchen does get a little smoky with bacon. The tech came back out and he placed them in a different location. Everything has been fine since then. With my system, I sleep a lot better at night.

The salesperson talked ADT up and was professional. And then the guy that came out and installed our thing was really nice and explained everything to us as much as he could. That's why we went ahead and did it. He explained the system to us. He left us a pamphlet and gave us a phone number to call if we had any problems or anything like that. However, I don't know if the technician was new or because of where we put the camera or the doorbell ringer, but it just took a long time. He was there for five hours. And then, within two days, the camera in the front, which is the doorbell ringer, stopped working completely. So I called ADT and they sent somebody out. First, when I called them, I said, "This isn't working. I'm having trouble with the camera in the back. It's not staying online. I want y'all to come get the system. I'm just having too much trouble with it."
They sent somebody out to pick it up and the guy got there and said, "No, I'm not here to pick it up, I'm here to service it." "Okay, fine. Go ahead and service it. See if you can get it to work." He said, "I see what the problem is, it's that your technician came out and failed to charge the doorbell before he installed it. So charge it for 45 minutes and just put it back on. I'll show y'all how to do it." So I did that, 45 minutes, by Sunday, it was out again.
So I called again on Monday. I was upset and I told them to just come get the system. At that time, they said it was too late. I could not do that because I had not called them within 72 hours to get it taken away. So, I said, "Okay." I talked told my husband that there's nothing we can do. We signed a contract. The second gentleman that came out to fix it explained to us that it could be the power in our doorbell, that we may not have enough power there, and that's probably why it's not staying charged.
Our transformer was probably too weak. I called back and told the lady, "Give me a camera for the front. I understand from this person that the transformer is too weak and it's not gonna work. It's gonna keep discharging." When I told my husband what happened, he called an electrician to come out and the electrician put in a larger transformer enough to charge the camera. So now, everything is working, but I had to make an extra expense to pay for the transformer. And then on top of that, we were days without the service. And it's all noted.

So, everybody got their own bedrooms and there’s nobody out in the living room, so now I just wanted to protect my family at night. We put in a security system through ADT and everything went great with them. Their sales rep made sure that we understood everything and he was very courteous. ADT had the wider domain and we had gotten a promotion because of a new home of certain amount of items or credit. So I called and scheduled them to come out. My sales experience was a little surprising because what they advertised as far as this was promotion made it sound like you get a whole system but by the time they written up what they evaluated what they thought you should have, it ended up coming back at a price of $9,000. But I told them to take some things off, and then they put everything that they could possibly put in the home. So we did get it, but still, it cost me more than I thought I anticipated on spending.
They are very expensive compared to so many places that are out there, even the ones that you can install yourself. But I take responsibility. I should've done more research end to end. Because they have you sign, a two or three-year contract with them. After they do the installation, they tell you about that. But for the name that they have, their price should reflect that. Their equipment is very, very old. I was told yesterday that they won't have new systems until at least the end of the year.
The young man that did the installation was very knowledgeable. He was supposed to come out the next day but it took him two weeks to get back out here. He told me that he needed to take a vacation, but I needed my door thing done. But he was a very pleasant young man. I have his cellphone number and he said I could call him directly if I have any problems.

Over the years, everybody knows about ADT. My relatives had it and my grandma had it before she passed. I spoke to one of their reps and what I was told over the phone was completely different from the review before I got them here. It was supposed to be no charge but it eventually cost me about a couple of hundred dollars to buy a camera. Other than that, things were pretty much straightforward. But I did not get my $100 credit card that I was supposed to be getting. I did fill out the papers and sent out the information but I still haven’t received it.
The salesperson did an excellent job. Unfortunately, there was not a follow-up to see how things are going. We had a lot of questions after he was gone and we were on our own, from a clarification perspective, from a process procedure. Shutting it off, when we started to do it ourselves, it’s somewhat different than getting an overview. From a procedure perspective, it’s more user-friendly online than it is on the wall. Overall, I am happy but I am not satisfied because they said I can wait until 30 days and get the doorbell ring for half price. Why not just give it to me half price and be done with it? It’s cheaper for the company. It’s cheaper for me to take the 50% and do it now. Other than that, I’m at the point where I think it’s beneficial to have security. I've been thinking about it for about 20 years. From that perspective, the timing is perfect and that I could afford it is perfect. I'm a retired person, so I’m on a budget income. I’m paying $58 a month for the service.

ADT is well-known in the community that we live in. I chose them for the reputation that they have and ADT has been reliable. My experience has been comfortable and safe. My only suggestion would be to be a little bit more transparency in the initial interaction with customers. The person that I spoke with on the phone was not very forthcoming with information and he made it seem like all we needed to do was have that person come in and do the installation. He told us that it would be a certain price. He gave us the range for the monthly bill. That, we were aware of but he didn't let us know that there would be all these additional prices in the event that we chose to do some of the add-ons that we actually did. He made it seem like all the equipment was included and there would be no additional fee.
We were caught off-guard when Cortez started to give us the information. When Cortez told us what we would need for the house initially, they were looking at us spending almost $2,000 until we said we didn't need those things. We knocked it down to about $300. It was something not planned for but we did realize we needed it for the home. So we decided to do it. Overall, we had a very good experience with Cortez.
He was an amazing salesperson. He was very informative. He knew what he was talking about. He gave suggestions about what he thought we needed based on the setup of our home and what he didn't think we would need. There was one item that we wanted that we weren't able to afford at the time and he told us what the process is for adding it at a later date. He was very patient while we went back and forth with my mom. Although the person that I spoke with on the phone and who set up the appointment was very misleading, the experience with Cortez made it a little better. Plus the system is a good one and it's very user-friendly.

I got approved over the phone with ADT and then, they said I got approved with the equipment. The guy came and I thought he was just coming to do a job. He was here for four hours. The first two hours was a waste of time, walking around the house with me, asking what I need not realizing after that he was gonna try to sell me and give me a price. I told him that I just wanted the normal price when I called on the phone before he got here. He wasted my whole day. I should have canceled it but my wife said to just keep it. We know better next time.
I didn’t get everything I thought I was gonna get with ADT. I just got my door and the sensors, which makes no sense. I hate it and it was technically trash. I didn’t get my windows protected so now, I see people selling their equipment or window stuff on eBay and I have to go buy that just to contact the guy to come hook it up because if I buy it through ADT, I gotta spend way more money. I should have just gone with Vivint and it would have given me all of that.

I paid a fee of 108 for the tech to come out. I got billed two more times like that same amount, and I wasn’t supposed to. Then I’m supposed to pay it through September to pay for the equipment. It’s 300-something dollars from when I had it installed and then per month from when I had it installed up through September. I was charged that twice. My monthly charge is only supposed to be 60 bucks, and it’s like coming out at 118. So, my billing’s all screwed up.
But the ADT rep was so awesome. He came right to my house. I made the appointment and they were there the same day. When he got it all set up, he had it set up perfectly. Everything was working, but then he mentioned I could move the interior camera from one room to the next. He gave me directions, but I couldn’t find them. But that’s what I did. I just moved the camera from a different room from where he had the setup inside, and so I haven't had a chance to get it reconnected.

I love ADT. I came back because it’s very handy. It’s in the new with the technology. This time, the experience was good. They told me that I didn't owe anything. However, I did owe on my account, which I would've paid off at the time if ADT gave me that information and the account could have still been in my name. But the rep said that there was nothing on his end that he could see, and in order for me to turn it back on, I had to get it in someone else’s name. Which initially made me think, “Okay. Well, then that means I have a bill,” because I know I have a bill, and I said that. But he said he didn’t see anything on his end, so I ended up having my fiancé put it in his name so that we can get the coverage. And I still owe that bill, but now I don’t have the money to pay it.
The installer did great. He explained everything to me. I have updated touch screen, so I love that as well. The only thing was, I expected a key fob and I did not get one. I don’t know if it was because we all connected our cell phones with the app is the reason why we didn't get a key fob, but I know I was told I was supposed to get one. But other than that, the installer was very kind. He walked us through the stuff with how to use it. He set everything up.
I love that the installer took down my old monitor. The last people that came left it out and added sensors that go on the windows. So, he took all of the extras down and left out just what we needed. That’s good. He was very patient because I was very tired. He gave me awareness of everything that went on. He didn't put the signs up because I already had signs up, and I’m okay with that. I just have two extra signs in case the wind blows them over or they break. I’m happy that he left me those signs for the future.

The call is recorded. Tell me a little bit about what made you decide to go with ADT was offered to me when I was going through National Grid when I was setting up my gas account. I love the person that did the installation. He gave me his own personal number to call him if anything went wrong and if I had any questions. He has been absolutely wonderful. The actual ADT customer service, however, when I called to try not to bother him at 11 o'clock at night, did not know what they were talking about. I had a simple question, and they could not answer it. I ended up calling my installer and he said, "That's why I gave you my phone number." The kid was reading off of a piece of paper and was not answering my question. And I called two different times, got two different people and they still couldn't answer my question. So, they didn't have the knowledge that they should have.
Nevertheless, everything seems easy to use, like they gave us a key fob. We have the app, too. It is easy to go online and look at your bill and set up auto pay. I will be calling someone to come and look at my sensors because we started redoing work in the house, so the sensor got moved. So now, the alarm is not turning on because it thinks that someone tampered with it. So, I had to call someone to come in when we are done doing the work. But, other than that, there has not been any issues. Make sure you get a good installer that knows what he is talking about.
