It easy purchasing my system from ADT. Their reps were informative and passionate. They explained everything in a good manner. The installer I got warned me about everything and the installation went smoothly. So far, I like the security that I will be made aware if someone tries to break into my home. Using their app on my phone has also been manageable.

I wanted to have some kind of security and ADT was giving a promotion. I called them up and the guy who went through with the process was very nice, helpful and professional. When the day came for them to come and install, the guy, Terry, was super professional. He knew the product, explained everything to me very nicely and I am very pleased with the service that I got.
It wasn't a big home but I needed more equipment. For instance, he couldn't put the sensor on the top of my window so he came up with the idea of glass monitoring. That was very thoughtful for him to come up with different options that they have. Instead of just trying to break the window and try to fit the monitor, he was creative and got the glass breaking getting a monitoring. If they try to break the glass, then the alarm will go off.
It was a wonderful experience. I'll give ADT 10 out of 10. There was a rebate, like the Visa card, that they will give me $100 and they asked me for the account number. I really don't know the account number and I asked them to send me my account number. I don't know how would I get the account number. That's the only thing I'm missing. I figured I'm not gonna receive a bill and I haven't got a bill yet. I was assuming they will deduct it from the credit card, but I really don't have the number for my account and I wanted to be able to redeem my Visa card.

They were able to take over our existing stuff. The program they put in place is pretty fair and reasonable. The installaton was done the same day. It took a long time but they were doing what they needed to do, like taking over a sensor and making sure it would pair. But it was all done in the same day. So that was good. But I didn't like that I have to pay more for the panel that I liked. So we got a pretty basic panel. We have an app that there's an added feature that way you could do no delay sirens. Then there's a bypass feature as well and because it's an older model panel, you have to remember codes if you need to bypass something versus the other one that has more of a nicer display where you can easily do everything right on. If there's an issue with a sensor or if you needed to bypass something, you could easily just click on it and do it. So it's more simplistic and user-friendly than the panel that we have.

I had Brinks before. They didn't do a very good job of replacing our system or following up when the alarm went off. We had problems with the alarm. It would go off for no reason. We wanted to get to the bottom of it. We had an alarm system for 11 years. Once we canceled, then they wanted to give us what we needed. But we had already made an appointment with ADT and I was getting the system installed.
My interaction with the sales rep of ADT went well, but I was more impressed with the guy that did the installation. He was a young guy and he knew his stuff. He knew exactly how to sell and his technical background. He was able to give us the information that we needed and build a system for our home. Then, he installed it and everything went well. He was very professional. He allowed me to call him after the installation, and he came back that day and fixed whatever issues that we had. He left at 1 o'clock and then he came back at 7 o'clock to fix whatever power issues we were having. He went on another call, finished that, then came back to see us. We were really impressed. The ADT system is also very nice. It's an upgraded system, which we were asking Brinks for, and they refused to give it to us until we canceled.

I would write this on the ADT website, but I don’t see a place for a review. My parents have had an ADT home security system since 1992 for which they pay once yearly. It was disconnected on July 6, 2020 because it was interfering with the Bell phone line. I have spoken to FOUR different people from Customer Loyalty (all told six hours on the phone, waiting and talking) with promises that they would phone and set up an appointment to update the system. The first person said that there is one that is more current but still has a keypad so that my almost-blind father can use it. However, not one of these people has returned my call.
With Covid, it is impossible to speak to someone directly because all calls are going through their general number. As Dad says, “I’ve paid for it. I’m 90 and won’t be in the house that much longer.” The disconnected system also includes smoke detector and carbon monoxide detectors which makes this situation dangerous as well. Last week I tried leaving an email outlining the situation. No one replied to my email either. What more can I do?
Hello Elaine- Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us and being a long time member of the ADT family. We are sorry to hear of the experience that your parents have had. We have reached out to the Canadian management team for assistance as you have reached ADT USA and we are not affiliated.

I have had continual frustration and bad experiences with ADT since May. I had called last year to cancel service at two homes I owned because the price was too high. I was offered a lower price if I agreed to a two-year contract. I said I couldn't do that because one of the homes was for sale and I was pretty sure that it would sell before the two years was up. I was assured by the person on the phone that that was an exception to the contract, if I sold the house I would be able to remove that property from the contract. The house sold this May - one year into the contract and I called to let them know. I got nothing but aggravation in the following six phone calls that I made.
I was told that it didn't matter that I had to pay early termination fee even though their employee had given me that information. I was relentlessly called by relocation department who told me my only option was to transfer service to another address even though I didn't have another address at that point. I was told I had to upgrade my remaining property's security system to get out of removing the second home. You name it, they tried it. Then today I called and asked someone to meet me at my son's new college apartment where he has signed a one year lease. There is an existing alarm system that hasn't been connected to monitoring. I wanted to sign up for monitoring and add a sensor on the back door.
The person who came out told me that I would have to sign up for a three-year contract even though he had a one year lease. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous. He also told me that he couldn't add a glass break detector on the back door of a common area because noises other than glass breaking could set a glass break detector off. He also told me that unless I signed the three-year contract, he couldn't send out a technician to get the current alarm working. It was the biggest waste of time. All in all, they are not helpful. They don't care about keeping anyone safe - only about upselling customers and refusing to let them out of contracts. The minute my current contract for my home is up, I will be done with them. I have worked for three different companies in the security business and I am appalled at their lack of professionalism.
Hello Amy- Thank you for being a long time member of the ADT family and for having multiple accounts with us. We are sorry to hear of the frustrating experience that you have had. We have located the account and show that the termination fees have been removed.

The installation of our ADT was good. The installer was perfect. He worked with what we had. My customer experience was not very good though. I was not told, when I first called, that I needed to provide proof that I bought the house. This delayed my installation. I called up and I was like, "Your person was supposed to show up today. Why didn't they?" They said I didn't provide proof. I said I wasn't told I needed to. So, that was very upsetting. But the guy that I talked to to reschedule was awesome. He was like, "I can't get you in till the 27th of August now," and I said, "That's way far out considering we're supposed to do it 29th July." He said if he'd get any cancellations, he'd call me right up. He was awesome too.

I have ADT in my personal home and this is a rental property of mine that they put the system in. The installer did a great job. However, it ended up costing more than what they said on the phone so it was an interesting transaction altogether. It was something to do with her phone line. She doesn't have two lines because she's got two different cordless phones and you have to have a main cord then it'll kind of feed off of the other. I've had ADT for years and it's been okay but I thought it was a bit much because we were initially saying 29 and ended up being 40 something. It’s an elderly person that has the house and she’s renting from me. The poor person is on a fixed income. But I think it had to be like that because she has a health alert, a smoke detector and something else on there that it would be good for.

When I set up my table, ADT gave me this great deal but it wasn't such a great deal. The break glasses keep going off in all areas and the door thing does not ever come up on my phone. It doesn't act right and it’s very frustrating. I called the 800 number and said that I wanted a full refund. I want them to come pick it up and get it out of my house. The reps from ADT should come out to service it tomorrow. I said that if it's not fixable, remove it. The person who installed it promised the moon and stars. He returned one text and never returned anything else. So, I wasn't very happy with that either.

I'm very disappointed with ADT. I felt like my arms were twisted in order for me to stay in the system. This was because I called to cancel on everybody else's third business day and I was told I couldn't do that. When I was on the phone, I explained to ADT that I had a system from them and I wanted to stay with them because their system was already installed. I also told them the number of sensors that I had. The reps told me that the tech should be able to come in, turn on the system and it would be at no cost to me. One Wednesday, their tech gets to my place, looks at everything and tells me that he couldn't use the system that was already at my place which was just in service and that the installation of the new equipment was gonna cost me $1,450.
He spent five hours at my house and I had to go to a meeting that day. Moreover, he couldn't install the panel. He put a couple of wireless sensors in but he didn't secure the front of my house. I asked him why he wasn't putting a motion detector towards the front of my house and he told me that was gonna cost me $200. Additionally, he gave me a useless key fob. My garage has its own separate entrance so I didn't even need that. He also put in another analog camera that didn't have any applications as well as other analog panels in my living room area and in my bedroom. The one in my bedroom is only about three feet high because he couldn't find a way to get through the firewall. I also asked him how I could give my girlfriend a different code if she comes to my house and he told me that he would show me. But then, he could never figure it out. By that time, I was already PO'd and told him to just get out of my house. I confirmed with him that I had three business days to cancel. He said that I had until that Monday to cancel. I drove to Florida for a funeral on Thursday morning and called ADT first thing on Monday morning. I was told by the reps that I couldn't cancel. I got bounced around four times and then spoke to Jessica who is one of their managers.
Jessica told me that she would call me back in three days. When I called her back, she wasn't available so I left a voicemail explaining I wouldn't be able to cancel because for ADT, Saturday is considered a business day. I have been an ADT customer through Brinks for 32 years and I've never had this problem. I called recently and told the rep that I don't even feel that my house is secure. She told me that she could send somebody out to my place. I then responded that I would not be paying $250 for a system to be installed.

The system is fine but I was definitely misled on the phone with the prices. I had to fill something online initially and then I had to wait for someone to give me a call, which was immediate. The guy on the phone was great. I asked him a couple of questions and he answered them. Then he said he would put his manager on the phone. He put the manager on the phone and they pushed to get someone out the house. I told them it might be a little bit out of my price range. He broke down everything for me and asked me how many windows I had in my home. He told me all of this stuff he was going to include. I asked him if he could send me an email with confirmation of all of this stuff that he was telling me that I was going to get. He told that he was not gonna send an email but the installer was going to come out and he would know everything that he was giving me that day. He said he was gonna write it out for him.
The free fire alarm system got me thinking that I got this great deal. But when the guy came out, the prices was crazy. So we didn't get everything we wanted because we had to adjust the price. I really felt I got a little taken advantage of. But the guy who installed it was great. The most annoying part about it was that when I spoke to the manager on the phone, he asked me if I had a landline. I told him no and he said it was still gonna be 27.99 a month. Then the installer said you only get 27.99 a month if you have a landline. That was crazy. The guy knew I didn't have a landline when he was doing the pricing out. I would expect more out of a manager. He was a security system person and I would want to trust a little bit more. Then ADT couldn't tell me who I spoke to and I also couldn't tell them who I spoke to.

The rep came out and he explained to me about the service and what all they had to offer. Then I chose what I wanted and he installed them. It took him until the afternoon because I was a little late for the appointment and then it took him till the evening. But he installed everything in the same day. It was very good for him to do it all. He was very knowledgeable and very helpful. I had one problem and they sent somebody else out to fix that. They fixed it but it's acting up again so I have to call them again.

We had ADT in my house growing up for our home security. Recently, we went with them because of their coverage, the amount of use and the level of support that's there. At the end of the day, their reliability for emergency services and their response rate were better than most others. So far, so good. We don't have a very extensive system, but it definitely is very fluid at this point in time.
Overall, our interactions with them have been very positive. However, I'm in the mindset of we just moved into our home, looking to have it protected and keeping things as clean as possible. Their requirement to get some of the sensors in there needs drilling into the wall. It created a bit of drywall dust, just a little bit dirtier than when they first arrived. But, I don't think that was particular to them. It was just part of the process. Our experience with ADT has been very satisfactory.

No, but my overall experience was a nightmare! My first call to set up the installation was on June 29. My install actually happened August 15th. Ridiculous even under Covid-19 circumstances. I accepted an 8:00 Am on a Saturday because I was told I’d have to wait until the 30th. If I wanted a time later in the day even 10 am. Outrageous! And the installation was $900. Again outrageous! I should have head my head examined before agreeing to all of this. I guess I have an unhealthy codependence with ADT. If you have an option to go elsewhere please do! Avoid price gouging and aggravation.
Last note: I say aggravation because the first install appointment the installer wasn’t told what he was to do and showed up without the equipment he was to install. The second appointment they left a Confirmation vm the night before that I missed. Typically you’d get a text and/or an email. This time when the installer arrived with all the proper equipment, I did get a text the day before. It was a long arduous journey. I asked for a discount due to all the hassles and they refused saying they’d be happy to cancel service. I don’t know why I didn’t cancel. What a horrible way to be talked to. Basically saying if you don’t like our policies you can leave. Awful. Have a nice day! Paul

I've been a customer with ADT for a while. I have a system at my old house I just moved from. I got the equipment covered for free. Then, ADT had an awesome deal where they offered the $100 Visa card back for installation. I love the features included in my package. I can disarm and arm it from my cell phone. However, I'm confused, if something goes haywire with the equipment and it’s nothing I did, like a miscommunication with the system, I don’t understand why we get charged the service call.
Because my other alarm at my old house was malfunctioning and I didn't know it. I didn't even know how long it was malfunctioning for. I accidentally set the alarm off when I was over there moving. I called ADT, “That’s not an alarm, it was a false alarm. Can you tell me how to shut it off?” But the communication never even went through. The rep sent a technician. He was like, “The alarm is not even communicating. We did a test thing.” She was like, “No, it’s not. I sent a guy out.” She said, “That’d be $25.” Then I had another gentleman from ADT call me, just talking about my equipment and I brought that up to him. He said there shouldn’t have been a charge for that. The other day, they came out. My son’s staying at my old residence and they fixed it and they charged him $25. But they have very good customer service and the product is of very good quality. I recommended them to somebody.

Everything was okay with ADT. The cost is better monthly, but I don't have all the entities that I wanted inside my house and outside. I wasn't able to get all the services that I thought that I was gonna get. So, I was thinking about canceling ADT. They told me that they will give me a certain amount of credit. Then from there, I can get whatever sensors I needed, the doorbell I needed, the motions and then I will get a gift card. But what they didn't tell me was that it will be an e-gift card and that the doorbell wasn't wireless and the wireless doorbell doesn't come out until December.
The installer said that he would put me on a waiting list for the wireless doorbell, and they were able to give me a little discount because I didn't have the wireless doorbell. But not only that, because I didn't have the wireless doorbell, I had to get the old-fashioned keypad instead of the regular screen. But other than that, the man who came out was really nice. This is my first time, and so I had an issue with something that was going on at the home that I didn't know how to correct. Because of his background outside of ADT, he gave me some advice and it worked. He was really good. It wasn't his fault that he didn't know. He just knew that I had a credit and we were on the apply whatever needed to be applied.

I spoke to a manager and was told even with the insurance that I have on the camera and equipment he will not waive the charge to send someone to my home to fix the problem. I am bound under a 5 year contract. ADT WILL NOT BE MY SECURITY COMPANY WHEN THE CONTRACT IS UP. They are misleading and do not take care of their customers. BEWARE!!

When I looked up the ratings of the five top alarm companies in the San Antonio areas, ADT was number one. Also USAA provides a discount for ADT. The sales team was very knowledgeable and they were really good about even providing an extra bit of equipment to get started. The sales process was very, very smooth and professional. The installation process was seamless as well. The installers were extremely professional and they did a fantastic job. The system works extremely well. They put in one of those new keypads that interfaces with the old system. They're the only company that could unlock the old system so I didn't have to buy all the individual window sensors. It was a little bit confusing when I did the purchase. First of all, I checked the website and I saw there was a system for about $20 per month and there was some equipment included. I called and the lady explained to me. I asked her what was the difference from the 20 to the 50 monthly cost. She explained to me that one was basic and the other one was fancy that everyone connected to your phone. So I said okay. But then when the technician came, they explained to me differently. If I have a camera connected to the panel, then it was gonna be about 30 or 50 per month, otherwise it was around 20. Then the package was including the camera. So if I use the 20 monthly cost, I couldn't use the camera.
When I talked to them, they also told me I have the glass broken thing. But then technician told me that I need a glass sensor. So whatever I got in the past was different. But otherwise, it works okay. The technician was very professional. The system keeps me feel safe. But in the future, if I’m going to call, I need to know what's gonna be the actual cost so I can be more prepared. I will still use ADT. I will just choose the program. But they should let me know how much it is. They don’t have to give me a very low price.

The system is simple but we were having bypass issues. I just learned that you can't have the door open when you set the alarm or the sensor wouldn’t work. My husband doesn't feel that the alarm is triggered quick enough if we're at stay home mode. Also, it's a little out of our price range for something that is kind of small for us. But it's a cool way to protect your home.

I was browsing online and then, I couldn't get much information unless I’m actually talking to someone. One day, I spoke with my neighbors who have ADT. They were telling me about it and how much they liked the services. That would be great for me depending on what they have. They were telling me what their experience was and the cost but I have to wait a little while to think on it. Then I started looking at the crime in the neighborhood. It went up a lot. So, I needed to go ahead and take care of that before someone tried to do something or harm me. I needed to make sure that whatever may take place I could get a police officer and a medic. They will come through and assist me with a fire and natural disasters.
The sales rep was very knowledgeable about everything. He knew a lot, which is good because even though I didn't have many questions, he summed everything up for me and walked me through. He told me where to inquire and the details. It was so great that I even did an upgrade. The installation team was great. One of the guys was new. He was just starting out on the job so he didn't know much at all, which was okay, because it was for him to be in the background to learn more from the guy who he was working with, who was a lot more knowledgeable and skilled, well molded and rounded when it comes to ADT and the services, equipment, installation and processing. I just got the ADT system so I'm still learning the services. The guy who knew everything let me know what I needed to get a transformer for the doorbells so that it would be able to run efficiently. I have been an ADT customer for many years. Then I got called from a referral service that was connected to my moving company. Someone started talking to me about putting the security system in and then I said I have it in Birmingham so I asked if they can transfer it over to Hendersonville. They said they can take care of me here. But I heard from my people in Birmingham yesterday that they believe that the people used the wrong process to get me connected because I never did get a referral fee for being a long time customer. They just kind of charged me a brand new system. So I'm a little bit irritated. Plus the fact that we haven't finished the process.
My experience in Birmingham with ADT has been great. I had it in my business and in my home. And it’s never a problem there in Birmingham in that regards. It didn't start off well with ADT and I still am trying to get resolved what is wrong with the system. It was such an extreme pitch. It started off as it was $9,000 to do the system. I already had a system in place and it was like somebody was not listening. Then it became like, “Let's make a deal.” I've already paid for the system installed and they wanna charge me another 1,500 to disconnect it. As I got to looking at what they were asking me or recommending, it became pretty clear that it was like, “We're trying to get our money one way or the other out of you.” I felt like they were trying to take advantage.
It turned out the system didn't work. They did a doorbell system that I don't think has ever been installed correctly. I got mad enough to say I wanted out of the service. This was within three days. One of the things that was a problem was that it was not getting enough internet connection so I went out and spent another $300 and added a Nest which now gives great internet throughout the house and has resolved that problem. But it didn't change the fact that the doorbell still never worked. I constantly get battery dead notification. It was not charging so I have a technician coming out this Friday. What they're going to do to resolve this is to swap out, take out the new doorbell system and put in a camera system.
But I like the people. It's not like anybody's saying, “We're not gonna fix it.” They have tried or are trying to resolve the issue. They are very respectful and wonderful to work with. In the end, I didn't cancel the service and I'm going to continue with it. It was just a little disconcerting and I don't think it had to be that way.

He explained to me how to use the system although it didn't mean that I remember it good. Then, he really missed one that he should've installed. I have a deck with stairs coming off the ground level. Come upstairs on the deck and there's a door and a window next to the door. I got an alarm on the door, but he might've forgotten to put a sensor on this window. This window could be probably out of the noise range of any neighbors and a guy could bust this and come right through. It also seems like I'm getting charged more than the guy told me. I thought I was 39-something, but my bill is 54, 55. I got three doors, a smoke detector, and a carbon detector.
I got a system, but I don't get used to remembering how to set it up right. I just hope if someone breaks into my house, they do it when I'm here. I don't care how old I am, 68, there will be hell and brimstone because I do not give up easily. I would suggest a follow-up visit would be a nice addition to the service to make sure that homeowners are getting that reassurance and answers to any questions. I already liked the system, it's simple and inexpensive. I hope ADT can get somebody to come out, just remind me, and also take care of that one window sensor that needs to be there.

The first installer who came out was phenomenal. He spent hours here going through everything. Another guy who was just here today adjusted some things for me. They were fantastic and very trustworthy because they're logging in to your Wi-Fi, they're in your home and they've got cameras. You gotta put a certain level of trust in someone to come into your home. I prefer to work with local people but ADT subcontracts them out. So, they're only gonna service me for 90 days with any issue. I'm not too experienced yet with how ADT actually is gonna be. We knew we were having some Wi-Fi issues and some camera placement issues. So, we knew originally that they were gonna come back. But I was a little on the fence when I called ADT to get them back out such as how long I had to wait to get somebody but that was just one call. So, I don't know if that's gonna change.
We've only had the system going for two weeks. I'm a little nervous once I'm not being serviced by a local company. I’m thinking if I am gonna get the same kind of service. When you call your cable company and you go into a black hole, that's what I'm afraid of. But it hasn't happened and I don't want some of it to happen. I called ADT when I was waiting to get them to come out and service and in their recording, they say, "Your wait times are nothing. We are a 100% on your security system if something happened." So, I know that. It was more of if I have a service issue, I'm not super techie if something goes down.

We have been a customer of ADT’s for more than 18 years. On a recent move we called to change service to our new address. Placed an order with a sales professional for hardware to fit the new home and scheduled an installation appointment for the afternoon of our closing date (7/27). When nobody shows up and it’s almost 5 pm I call to find out where the install technicians are at. I’m told our appointment was moved by the scheduling department to 8/6, without notifying us. Although upset with the lack of communication we agree to the 8/6 appointment to install or system. We are told we would be placed on a “priority” list where we might be able to get an earlier install date if they have a cancellation and we answer our phone when they call. We agreed to be put on the priority list but never received a call.
On 8/4 we receive a text to confirm our 8/6 appointment and confirm. On 8/5 we receive another text confirming our 8/6 appointment between 8-12, and we confirm. On 8/6, at 12:20 pm we receive a call from someone at ADT saying corporate sent a message to all offices saying they can not perform any installations on 8/6. We asked why and were told that they don’t know why only that it was mandated by corporate to cancel all installations on 8/6. We asked when will they install our system and tell us they can be out out on 8/20. We were offered to be placed on their “priority” list to which we said “no thank you” we already tried this and waiting until 8/20, if you are able to actually show up, does not work for us and we told them to cancel our order ($530 of new equipment) and we will find another company.
A week later we receive our final bill and see the ADT charged us a “Cust- Cancel-Termination Chg” of $56.25. After 18 year of routine mistakes and fair service this company charges a 18 year customer money to cancel an order due to their inability to keep scheduled appointments while making us wait up to 24 days to get an alarm system installed. Research before you buy. ADT’s customer satisfaction score continue to drop and several companies are out performing them. We went with SimpliSafe, placed an order for our hardware, received it within 5 calendar days and have an installation scheduled in three days. Makes us rethink staying with service companies for extended periods of time. Companies used to APPRECIATE 18 year loyal customers but times change.

When you sign up for ADT and sign that three-year agreement immediately everything the sales guy rep told you goes out the window and customer service reps could care less about your concerns or your issues. Most people today complain more than they complement, I think we can all agree on that, however as I’ve grown older I’ve learned it’s best to reverse that and compliment more than you complain. However, that’s very hard to do when a company as big as this lies to you from the get go. Then when they take your payment out 13 days early, because you have to have easy pay apparently and even though the website shows a different next payment date and them you call billing to question them as to why it came out 13 days early they come up with some bull crap.
Also, their website is horrible and they don’t want personal contact on the phone with people. That’s obvious because they don’t even show their phone number anywhere on their websites, it’s all just frequently asked questions, and they want you to avoid calling in at all costs. Also, when you do call in they don’t want to talk to you and they won’t help you at all!!! So when my three-year contract is up I will never again use this company and I will always always tell anyone that I know or hear of considering ADT to avoid this company at all costs! I’ve never been lied to so much and I’ve never been cheated out of things as I have been with ADT. So if you want your bank to accumulate charges & fees for returned payments because their bill came in early and caused 3 others scheduled already to be denied then go ahead and sign. They are horrible and rudely dismissive in tone so you get nowhere with the reps.
Hello Marshall. We are very sorry for your frustrating experience. ADT does charge for your monthly bill in advance, so you are always billed a month before. The advanced payment is also mentioned in the contract terms that were signed and agreed to. He went with the system but I didn't like the information I got, so I didn't go with it. ADT sends out one person to go over everything and then he does the install if I agree to everything. The gentleman who came to talk to me about the system was great and he would've done the installation. It was not his fault but I was given misinformation by the person who talked to me on the phone. It was the supervisor. He was not truthful. I’m sure he didn't give me false information on purpose but he gave me information that didn't match up at all to what I was looking for. The equipment was different and the price was way different than what he said. So, I ended up not going with the system. I felt bad because I wanted the system.

He did leave behind a keypad, which gets installed on the wall. It's still in the packaging and I just put it on the shelf. Everything is going pretty well. But our power went out the other day and we weren’t too sure if the alarm system was even gonna be working because the battery ended up dying because we went without power for a week.

At about 8:30am on 12/21/19, I had ADT come to my home to learn more about their security system and share equipment and plan options. I previously met with other security company’s as I was shopping around. Upon arrival, Bryan was helpful and shared info about packages and equipment. He then mentioned that his “Pulse system” was down so unfortunately, he couldn’t demo the system with me unless he proceeded to install it (Red Flag Number 1). I told him that I was still shopping around and was a bit uncomfortable proceeding, but he insured me that the install wouldn’t take long, and we didn’t like it, everything would be undone- no questions asked.
Throughout the installation process, Bryan seemed to have a very hard time with the equipment and was constantly running into problems. He mentioned that he did not have all equipment needed to install and would have to call a coworker in the area to bring him some equipment needed. Even after obtaining more equipment, he and his trainee did not leave my home until a little after 7:00pm, with promises to come back and finish the job at a later date. I will also note that Bryan’s trainee was great and seemed to be more knowledgeable than he.
At that time, my wife and I were preparing for a holiday party so in the midst of him needing my assistance for different problems he would run into, I was trying to help her prepare for our friends and family that were to come. As time kept passing, I had to leave my wife at home, while I grabbed some last-minute items for the party. Bryan asked me if my wife could sign the contract for the services. We were hesitant on signing the contract due to the conversation Bryan and I had originally (I just wanted to demo the system/see if it would meet our needs) and the job/install was still not completed.
We wanted to ensure we had enough time (3 days, per the 3 Day Cancellation Policy) to determine if ADT was a good fit for us. Bryan, promised us, that due to the installation not being complete, we would not have to worry about the 3-Day cancellation policy. He then provided his managers Chris name and said that he was aware and onboard. Bryan pleaded to us that he would not get paid on time if we did not sign the contract that day (Another Red Flag). We trusted Bryan, as he sounded confident in that the 3-Day Policy would not apply to us, since our installation was not complete. With it being around the Holidays, and considering the fact that he spent the day at our house, I ultimately gave my wife the go-ahead to sign so that his pay wouldn’t be affected.
Things we needed for our job to be complete:1. Sensors working properly on wall windows and doors (the system kept reading open window when the window was indeed closed, garage door sensor problems, sliding door sensor problems….)
2. Installation of cameras and functioning outdoor cameras (he couldn’t get the cameras to feed)
3. Our home to be armed.
4. User access to the PulseApp
Later that night, around 11:50pm (while our friends were over), I received a frantic call from Bryan stating that the system did not log properly. I told him that we had company and reminded him that it was almost midnight. He apologized and begged to come back, pleading that what he had to do wouldn’t take long and that his pay depended on it. Again, feeling bad, I gave him the okay to come back. He arrived about 40mins later and was able to do what he needed (replace the backdoor sensor). However, what he also did was park directly in front of our neighbor’s driveway, completely blocking them from entering/existing it. Our neighbor was very upset as they thought it was a member of our gathering that did it. I was extremely upset as well. I still have no clue why he parked there, especially since we live on an open street with plenty of parking AND he was just over my house a few hours ago.
Bryan returned the following Monday to complete services rendered. He was only able to ensure our home was armed. We still did not have functioning cameras. He returned after Christmas to install the cameras and showed my wife how to use the app. As my wife and I were exploring through the apps and cameras, we discovered that ADT only records for 30 seconds once movement is detected and will not record again until 4 minutes has passed. This was horrifying for my wife and I as we would like the cameras to record consistently.
If something were to happen to my wife after 30 seconds passed, we would have no record of it, unless the incident last for 4 WHOLE minutes! What led us to this discovery was after a neighbor that lived a few doors down from us was robbed at gun point- which is something that never happens in our neighborhood. I just knew our cameras picked up the car/info but was very sadly surprised to learn that my cameras captured absolutely nothing and were pretty much useless (after spending thousands on them).
I asked Bryan about this and he advised that we could change the recording setting in the app. After trying to change this setting, I realized this was not possible. I immediately called ADT and told them we would like to cancel our policy. The video recording was very important to us, and without this ability, their services no longer deemed necessary for us. ADT told me that we were past our 3 Day Cancellation time. I informed them of Bryan’s promises and reminded them that we were just now having access to all the features we signed up for.
ADT/Protect Your Home was not understanding and did not honor Bryan’s words. Bryan’s supervisor, Chris was also aware of our troubles with the installation and seemed to honor Bryan’s promises until we requested to cancel. If we knew about the camera settings, we would not have signed with ADT at all. We trusted ADT to provide us with an armed home and security cameras that recorded all movement on the outside. Needless to say, we were and still are extremely disappointed.
Over the following weeks, we had approx. 3-6 service calls. Every member that came out was helpful but was very puzzled and concerned with how they saw our system installed. Apparently, Brian screwed all of our carbon detectors on the ceiling next to our smoke detectors- which I learned was not protocol. They also noted that there was a lot of hanging wires and incorrect connections in our panel box. This was all mentioned off record as they all did not want to ruffle feathers, which I can understand. They gave me more info about the camera’s abilities and lack thereof, stating that the setting can’t be changed and apologized for that being miscommunicated. I really wish that they would’ve come on day one.
I continued complaining and Defender/Protect Your Home continued to treat me as though I did something wrong, stating that they wouldn’t let me out of my contract unless I paid thousands to early terminate. Everyone I spoke to there was very nasty- customer service was horrible. I finally got hold of a Consumer Relations Representative at ADT who was very understanding and stated that she will submit a claim to Corporate to address.
Unfortunately, to this day (Aug 2020), I still haven’t heard back from ADT’s corporate office. I do, however, receive a call daily from their billing department requesting to collect money for services not rendered (my ADT system was unplugged/ not used since Jan 2020). You would think that with ADT’s name and reputation, this issue would’ve been resolved as soon as it was reported. Unfortunately, that isn’t the case. STAY FAR AWAY FROM ADT/PROTECT YOUR HOME, DEVENDERS!! Trust me, they aren’t worth it!

At first, when he told me the price after he went through everything, he said he couldn't connect it to the price that they said because the wiring wasn't correct for it, which the other person never told me was a possibility. He said it would be $29 and that's it. But the technician explained the reason why it couldn't be that price. He talked to a supervisor and was able to get some credits in so I ended up still doing it. He did as best as he could to get the price down and made it all work out. I was on the fence for a little bit but the technician was able to convince me to do it and I'm glad we did it. I like the cameras so I can see what's going on around the house and the security of the home. Plus, the app is working great and I love it.

From the start, I liked the first person that I talked to when I first contacted ADT. She was very nice and said the things that I would get. The only thing she didn't explain was the price. I thought that it was gonna be the fee that she said that I had to send in, which I did. But when the guy came out, he said, “You gotta pay $3,200 upfront before you get anything.” I could still get my free stuff, but it wasn’t everything that it was said that I'd get free. The only things I have is a monitor over the back door, a monitor over the front door, and a keypad. I told him that no one told me about that price. But the thing is he couldn't connect in one of the plugs so he had to use this cord for one room to the next until my electrician came in and did that particular plug.
No one is protected on that install that’s why I have to call another company which I don't have to pay anything. It’s not that much and I get three cameras and a doorbell, and some of my windows done. I also get the motion detectors and something else. I like to look at it on my phone. They're supposed to come out soon. They would’ve come out, but I don't have internet service because they can't get to the pole. But they still said they can put it up for me. It was just a difficult situation for me to deal with ADT because I was shocked when they threw the $3,200 on me. I thought I could get everything and start the service, but I was kinda disappointed.

The sales rep of ADT was pleasant. We got called on a Monday and they had someone available on Thursday. The installers that came out explained everything. They got us the lowest prices they could, which was great 'cause we all have a budget. The demonstration was really quick. The longest part was just the walk around the house, to identify areas that need to be covered. They were very nice guys.
ADT's a different system than I operated before, but it's very user-friendly. I like that it has an app. I had Brinks previously. The sensors for ADT are larger, but that's because they have a different feature, like a glass break or a vibration mechanism. So if someone were to break the window or force it open, it'll trip the alarm system. Then they also installed a glass break in the master bedroom. The technology of ADT is a little bit ahead of Brinks. I made a good choice going ahead with ADT. I had a false alarm the day after it was installed. Since it's San Diego, they bill you for that if the police show up. I paid the fines to the city, then sent the information to ADT. Their customer service was very helpful in giving me the information for that and facilitating that reimbursement.

But this thing that I got in here now, I couldn't hear a beep. Yesterday, this other guy came from ADT and he put that little one in my bedroom, but I couldn't hear it still. I'm not very happy with ADT right now. I’m considering cancelling within my timeframe period and going with Vivint. They were the first who came out and I switched because ADT said there were no fees. Even though the girl had given me a whole lot of extra things, it started adding up and adding up when the guy got here. I told them that I didn't have anything because my husband had a stroke. I had to come up with that money so I could pay that back. But I would rather have them be truthful like I was being truthful. At least Vivint was truthful and they told me what they could work out for me That's not what they said to me. The system is not working. The alarm went off the other day. They never told me the alarm was in the keypad. We couldn’t hear it. Nobody called. My husband was terrified.
I cancelled the other system so we don't have anything that's working. We have a portable one we got three days later because the guy would not put it in. When I requested him that, he talked me out of it because he had somewhere to go. So he did a quick job. He just stick the motion detectors up on the wall and one thing he had to hook up and he was done. I wanted the doorbell camera that was comfortable so my husband can see who's out there. He has to have an extra set of hands or eyes for himself. He can communicate through the phone with that doorbell. But this guy told us it was too much money and that it was not what he would do.
They didn't properly show us how the system works. Now I have a low battery already and I talked to the tech support and he said I shouldn't have a low battery at all. But the second guy was very good. Tyler was very informative and he told me if I needed somebody, he would come back and to ask for him. I just got off the phone with them and they said they would have someone out. I told them that Tyler told me to ask for him. I said if it was not Tyler then don’t send anybody. They still told me that they would send somebody. I told them if they send that guy who first put this initial system in, he won’t get in here tomorrow. I have a camera in the back on the glass and it’s not showing anything. It won’t show that I’m standing at the side door knocking on the door. It should’ve went off and sent me something. It’s not doing that because all that wasn’t set. He just put it up then left.

The installation was rough. It took a long time. My appointment got moved. It was supposed to be at a certain time and then I was waiting around for hours. I had to call back. Then they had call-outs because of COVID. I understand that. The supervisor came and because he's a supervisor, he doesn't necessarily have all the training that a field person does, so it took him a little bit longer to install. He told us that it was a new system through Honeywell and that they were just learning it. He was really nice and he tried his best, but we had to have a follow up because we had some questions and concerns. But the second guy that came didn't know much about the control unit either. They need a little more training when it came to the actual product in the unit.
Now that the system is installed and I've done some self-learning, it’s great. The one thing that is not functioning as well as we thought is the motion sensors. Sometimes they pick up but sometimes they don't. They had to replace one of them. The second gentleman that came moved them to a better spot. I wouldn't have gotten if I would've had to do this again.

I liked ADT’s reputation and the sales guy knew what he was talking about. But I am having a problem with the services so I'm not 100% that I'm gonna keep it. Whenever the trouble light comes on, I don't get a call. I just have to figure out by pushing buttons how to get rid of it. For instance, if a window opens, it’ll set the alarm off. I go in and put in my password, and then the trouble button comes on. Then, I’ll close the window and reopen it again, and it won't happen. So then, I have to bypass the sound because it would go off instead.
When it first happened, it happened to two windows. I called and the guy talked me through disabling the window detectors and reassembling it. It didn't work or I couldn't remove one of them. It wasn't working out for me and when I did remove it, it still happened again. So, he taught me how to bypass it but transferred me to customer service to have somebody come out to double check the sensors. The technician came out a few days later and did exactly what the other guy asked me to do. But the alarm didn't go off. It didn't trigger anything and then he said that nothing looked wrong. Everything looked okay. But then, once he left, it started happening again.
I'm thinking now if I am gonna have them remove it. If me and the family are out and I activate the system because we're out and the house is empty, I don't know what that scenario is gonna bring. This is the third week that it’s been going on. I've been opening the same windows but I didn't need to bypass it. The alarm didn't go off and I didn't have to bypass it after that. The guy mentioned something about my algorithm and how it's all collecting. I'm thinking that maybe that's what it is. It knows that we open this window at a certain time. ADT is a little messy. It’s the equipment. When that trouble button comes on, I would expect ADT to contact me to see if everything's okay and nothing happened. I got no phone call so, that’s strange.

I knew about ADT from a friend and everything was good with the sales rep. I don't have any complaints and everything went as planned. The installation was very professional. The installers wore masks and kept social distancing. The experience with ADT was excellent and the guys were respectful and very informative. They wanted to make sure that I fully understood how to use the system.

ADT was already installed in the apartment we’ve lived in before and when we bought our home, we wanted to stick with it. We got a promotion with them but it was off putting that it wasn’t what we got. A lot of the flyers that you get in the mail are not what is advertised. Still, ADT is a good provider. The features are great and the cameras are nicer than the ones we used to have. They upgraded them.

I was looking for a service and ADT was one of the ones on the list. I called them and I was told it would cost a certain amount. I gave the sales rep my information and nothing similar happened that we discussed. It’s totally different. I told him that I did not have electrical power to my doorbell and he said that didn't matter. I could still get a camera doorbell, which didn't turn out to be true. There were two installers and they were very good but I was promised a key fob for my husband for his car. The installer said he would return with it in a few days but that didn’t happen. Also, on the initial phone call that I had, my name was written down wrong so before the installer could have the installation finished and demonstrate, he had to correct my name because I wouldn't find it. That took him an additional time and even then, it was not corrected totally.

When I spoke with the sales rep from ADT over the phone, it was okay. We were going over the numbers and it was great. But I had a problem with the guy that came to our house to install the equipment. Because when they call, you're trying to put a good budget such that you can afford. So, one of those times, we said to go ahead, and me and my fiancé forgot about it.
The installer started telling me that if we don't use ADT, we could forget about it and not to call them back. He was not professional. He had a little nonchalant attitude and he was sarcastic. He was rude so that did not go too well. So, my fiancé got very upset and they got into it. He told him that he had been very unprofessional and to get out of our house. After the altercation, my fiancé calmed down a little bit and decided to apologize. They talked about it. The installer ended up installing the equipment in our home. The back camera is not capturing the motions as it should though. Maybe something needs to be set on it. But other than that, ADT has been good so far.

But I had to pay the tech $300. I told the tech and he said that he was gonna go back and listen to the call. He said that he didn’t know why they said that. I had ADT at my previous home so I went with them again. The sales rep was good. He informed me that it would be easier to cancel my current ADT policy then just get a new equipment set up at the new house. However, they should have the sales rep a little more strict on what they put in the cancellations, if they do a cancellation instead of a renewal. I’m having to pay two months extra on my old system because it wasn't deactivated. I called July 9th and I got billed two months - one on July 10th and one again on August 10th. I got it cancelled now. I called the main ADT system.
Other than the fact that the initial cancellation that they were supposed to go through wasn't put in properly, the experience was fine. The installer was good. He was quick about it and seemed well-informed on the system. I needed a few more sensors than I originally had. It's a different panel, but it's all pretty much the same as what I had back in Virginia. I'm still kinda getting used to it. The old system had the smaller LCD touchscreen. This one's just a simple keypad and a small LCD on the top. But I like the fact that we can arm and disarm it from our bed which is nice.
Reviewed July 30, 2020
I set up an appt with ADT for someone to come out fix our alarm system which would not arm and begrudgingly agreed to pay the $200(?) service call charge. After standing us up for 6 hours, without even the courtesy of a phone call, ADT finally contacted us and agreed to send someone out several days later at no charge to fix our alarm. A tech showed up wheezing and coughing behind his mask, and despite the alarm panel clearly stating the problem was in 'Bedroom 2' - and there are only 3 contacts in 'Bedroom 2' - was mysteriously unable to fix it. Rather he spent most of his time fiddling with the alarm cabinet. Miraculously he showed back up several days later with another tech and they fixed the one window contact that wasn't working.
Several days later I received an ADT bill for ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS!!!! This must be ADT's definition of 'free'. It's my definition of highly unethical business practices. I called ADT legitimately upset (I am on autopay) and, after an hour of telling me "don't worry, I'll get this resolved with my supervisor', the cs rep told me there's nothing they can do. The local Seattle office has to handle this. I asked, "how do I contact them?" She replied, "you cant, but I'll make sure a supervisor from the Seattle office contacts you within 48 hours." Here we are three days later and no call.
From the very start my ADT experience has been a nightmare. My insurance company insisted that we use one of the larger alarm companies. I called ADT and an installer came out to do the installation in December of 2015. We have many features in our home that we paid a lot of money to have installed. One of them is automatic fans in all of our 6 bathrooms that are triggered by door censors to go on for 10 minutes. This feature was connected to our old alarm system via an RS232 port which ADT does not use.
The installer simply removed the feature and after several return visits and consultations with his home office, he told me, "Sorry, there's nothing we can do." I'm sure they prayed that I would eventually tire of trying to have them repair the damage they did to our home system. And I did finally tire out and live with the damage. Since then we have not once ever armed or used the ADT alarm, and only discovered it wasn't working when we had a fire system repaired in our home. So, we have no clue how long it has been unusable while we continue to pay $40/month...for absolutely nothing. If I was forced to say one thing positive about ADT it would be, 'They never get my billing address wrong'. In the meanwhile - if you are listening - ADT, take that $1000 charge off my bill and honor what you told me! Oh, and maybe fix the damage you did when you installed the system. Don

There has kinda been a rise in a lot of stuff and stuff around my area so those were kind of like two reasons to get the security system. I had been thinking about it for a long time and I finally just decided to do it.
Josh came out and he was punctual and really nice. I felt horrible because I actually got held over from work so he sat with my boyfriend for an hour before I finally got home. But he was very thorough and to the point or no-nonsense, which was what I liked. He didn't try to sell me anything. He worked with me and my budget. He was very polite and efficient. I appreciated all of that.

I had ADT at least seven years ago. I had a system with Alder and when our contract was over, I decided to go back to ADT. I had gotten it installed on the 6th of July and then on the 13th of July, I woke up Monday morning and the little sensor of the front door was down and I had no protection of the home. Somebody came out last weekend and corrected that problem. The contractors were great. They were knowledgeable.
I’m good with everything but I wish the sound was up a little higher. I told the young man that initially installed the system that the sound is a little low for me and I asked him to increase it. Because Alder did that for me. I’d be over in the family room sometimes, which is away from the monitor itself. So I would like to hear a little more.
I'm enjoying the system. Only thing that I hate is that it always blow up the email every time you open up the door. But other than that, I'm not having a problem. I like it. One day, I simply forgot that I had armed it, and I walked out the house and they called my phone. I like that they did. Before when I had them, if something went wrong, it took a while before a sheriff or anybody was dispatched to the home. Overall, I feel safe knowing that I am secure with ADT and my home is being protected and monitored by them.

We also didn't get everything we thought we would get, like how it was informed to us over the phone. The tech didn't install three cameras, outdoor cameras, and a couple windows and door sensors, and the panel.

Unfortunately, I signed a 3-year contract with ADT in 2017 and ended up not liking their system, but they showed zero flexibility in terminating the contract early (very large penalty to terminate early). Try it for a few month with NO LONG-TERM CONTRACT and if you liked it then get into a contract.

I searched security on Google and ADT came up right away. There was a big ad promoting their low monthly rate. They came out right away. They were more than enthusiastic about getting me all set up and seemed to put my guard down. I assumed the rep would come and install the system we discussed and leave. But he spent 30 minutes with an aggressive used car salesman attitude, trying to sell me thousands of dollars’ worth of equipment and upgrading this and upgrading that. I made it very clear to them on the phone that I'm selling this home soon. I wanted security because we have Realtors coming in and out, and that was all I was looking for. It became a circus. I was very busy. I had to go to another appointment. I finally said, "Look, either do what you said or leave." So, the rep kept lowering the price but it price was still three times what it used to be. And he finally just said, "Okay," and he did it for the price.
I'm not comfortable about the whole hokey-pokey sales pitch like 20 years ago, trying to buy a used car in a parking lot. And it just got worse from there, because everything he told and promised me, he only did to entice me to sign the contract. There were all kinds of things I was promised that turned out to be not true now. After doing all this, I googled, and it looks like I'm one of tens of thousands of people that have fallen for this scam. I'm surprised ADT is still in business. I'm surprised the states haven't shut the company down for allowing these practices to go on under their name.
I went to the Better Business Bureau. I filed a complaint. I called ADT, and they said, "Yes. Everything they told you was a lie. We can't do any of those things they promised you, but we'll do this instead." So, they wound up moving that system to a different location. The service was fine. Everything those folks have done for me is fine. But it doesn't take away from the fact that the initial contact six months ago was about as bad as it gets. But this most recent situation, everybody I spoke to claimed to do the best they could under their new guidelines or standards. They didn't make me any promises or lies or commitments or play any games this go-around. They stepped up.

I have been an ADT customer for 30 years. Using their previous basic systems, there were no problems. When offered an upgrade to their new system in June of 2020, I agreed so that I could have monitored cameras around my house. The installation of this new system was a nightmare. The installers worked for 9 hours on Friday, 17 July, but could not get all of the functions to work. They could not connect one of the cameras to our home WIFI system. When evening came, after nine hours, we had made plans and had to leave the house, ending the installation. They gave us a brief orientation, said the installed components would work, but said they could not return to finish for five days on Wednesday 7/22.
We were able to activate the system that night, but were startled awake in the early hours Saturday by the control panel chiming loudly. One of the smoke detectors was malfunctioning. Called ADT on Saturday, and they could see the problem centrally, but had no technician available over the weekend. To stop the alarm, the phone monitor recommended removing the battery from the control panel, and scheduled a tech visit for Monday AM.
The tech came Monday and reported the installers had installed the smoke detector out of the range of the control panel. He moved the control panel to a central location and everything worked. He didn’t have time to complete Friday’s installation. We were informed that the install would be completed that afternoon at 3:00 PM. 3:00 came and went, with no tech and no explanatory phone call.
The system continued to function until 2:00 AM on Wednesday when the loud chiming began again from the panel, this time reporting a different smoke detector was malfunctioning. Called ADT monitor and was told they were receiving a “Low Battery” message. I spent two hours trying to repeat what Monday’s tech had done with no success. The only low battery indicator on the control panel was on a motion sensor, not a smoke detector.
Called ADT Customer service Wed at 7:45 AM and they had no record of my call to the monitor earlier that AM. At this point, exasperated and sleep-deprived, I reviewed the entire chain of events since installation, and asked to be released from the contract. I was referred to Account Maintenance, given a phone number, and told to call them myself, which I did ten minutes later. Account maintenance, Dora, had no record of my call ten minutes earlier to customer service and asked me to repeat the entire story. She reported that until I had experienced further problems, requiring three service visits, I would not be released from the contract.
At my request, I was referred to her supervisor, Jerry, who was sympathetic but refused to consider contract release until two additional service calls were completed for any reason during my first six months following installation, I pointed out that, following three days of severe stress/sleep interruption, I no longer had trust in the hardware or the tech support available for ADT’s new system. He insisted that no other option was possible until a total of three service calls had been completed during the first six months. Jerry set up a service call for Wednesday, July22, from noon till 5:00.
My conclusions:
1) ADT’s new system has been inadequately tested, has numerous bugs, and is poorly understood by its field technicians. This new system should never have been released, since it appears to be a beta (maybe alpha) version that is being field-tested at the expense of unsuspecting loyal customers.
2) ADT is inadequately staffed to provide 7-day/week tech support, even for problems which render their security systems inoperable, thereby endangering the security of their clients.
3) Even when clients have been physically and emotionally traumatized by system failures, ADT is unwilling to modify the terms of their contract to allow appropriate compensation.
4). Review of the “fine print” in the contract reveals there is inadequate contractual protection of the customer from egregious negligence or incompetence by ADT employees. Protection of financial compensation for the ADT corporation seems to be of paramount importance.
5) Reading recent reviews (eg US News & World Report, Wirecutter, Consumer Reports) reveals there are multiple better options available, both DIY and professionally installed.

Could you please let us know how the appointment went? its our understanding that we are returning again to get another camera online via an extender. I was satisfied with their customer service and the gentleman that came and set everything up. He showed me the whole system. It was easy after he showed it to me. I like that you can turn some sensors off. He explained like if I'm having a party or something and I wanna leave one door open, I can turn it off so it won’t chime. I like that you can add on the system anytime. I start off with the basics and I can add on. I have a backdoor but I don't have a deck to go to the back door. So when I get a deck, I can add on the sensor for the back door.

ADT had a really good price when we were looking to get a home security system and I know that they're a reputable company, so I chose them. Customer service when I called was great, and when they came out to my home, it was great as well. However, I was told that they were gonna send me $100 gift card to vouch for the system that I had to pay for or for something that I had to pay for that was around $100, but I never received that. It's something I am frustrated by too. I have been waiting for that card to arrive and it's been almost a month now. Still, if they say they're gonna send me a gift card, they'll follow through with it.

Our old system with another company was horrible. Then I received a promotion flyer for ADT in the mail and the pricing was misleading because of all the other monies that would have to come upfront when the installation guy was here. That needed to be addressed because I could have easily declined. They also said that I would get a $100 Visa gift card. But I haven't seen anything. Other than that, we haven't had any issues with ADT thus far compared to our old system with another company. The rep was knowledgeable, cleaned up behind himself, and was very formal. I was down there with him and it took him a couple of hours to install. Once he installed it, I received a message saying that the doorbell battery was low. But then I haven't received any other notifications after that of any issues.

I looked up reviews online and ADT was one of the top ones. It was a little bit expensive and was more than I would have thought initially, but I'm satisfied with the service that I got. It was pretty good. They were pretty comprehensive about a lot of different things like smoke alarms and water leak systems. And the security analyst that came was really comprehensive about explaining the things that I needed to make sure that the home is secure. Overall the comprehensive security analysis was really good. It's been an awesome experience.

The service of ADT was good. The guy came out and answered any questions we had. The installation went smoothly. It didn't take very long. The only downside was the upselling stuff, the framing things in a way things were absolutely necessary when maybe they weren't, squaring the promotions we received versus the prices that we were charged for equipment and installation. They could have been more upfront about what the promotional credits that we would receive would actually afford. But overall, we were satisfied.

I signed up with ADT over the phone and it was fine. The installer was knowledgeable about the equipment and handled himself properly. However, the installation was a bit of a nightmare. There was a bit of drama. There were some things that were installed which weren't on the paperwork, and then we had to get that corrected. I requested the features and they were installed, but then, upon looking at the contract, none of the features were checked off. It could have been an oversight on someone's part. That paperwork was done by somebody in the office, not by the installer. The guy had to come back a few times. But it's okay. Everything is operational. The system does what it is supposed to do.

ADT reps told me the details and made an appointment. But they did not explain the packages really well. They told me the cost but didn't tell me that it was only for the front and the back door, which was not enough. It ended up to be $800 more for the other windows that needed sensors. Even though it made sense, they didn't say anything about that.
Also, I've had troubles ever since the installation. One of the other technicians that came out was not happy with what one other tech told me. The second technician that came out could tell me that the installer hadn't done things quite right. She asked me who it was and said, "Oh, that guy.” And the system wasn't very well-installed. Immediately after the installation, one of the sensors came loose. But I'm sure that wasn't the issue because it's the backdoor that's been a problem. I go in and out of the backdoor. I sit on my porch a lot.
And when I talked to someone on the phone, they said that was not the alarm. I can't get the system to work right. About every third time I open my back door, an alarm goes off and I can't keep it from doing that. I have to turn that off and I don't want to have to keep running in to do that. The problem is it's random. I'm unhappy and in limbo. I'm so mad. I'm so bummed out with dealing with them and I'm just waiting a few days to call them because I'm so frustrated. The other thing is, I had to hire somebody to work for me. I work six days a week. The techs don't schedule anything in the mornings and I work during the day. I had to pay somebody to work for me. That's a tough one to swallow.

Everything was explained well and it was an easy process. The only problem I had was it seems when you're on the phone and you get the details about the pricing, it changes once the technician comes out. A lot of the things that were available weren't explained all that well over the phone. I expected one price but it turned out to be a different one. They can give a lot of the information over the phone rather than having someone come to the house and start to explain. That's probably just the way it's done but I would have been better placing my order over the phone and knowing exactly what I would pay rather than having someone come to the house and figure that out. Other than that, the equipment is fine. It's easy to use.

We moved into an area and I really didn't think we needed an alarm system. I feel really pretty safe up there. But my wife has trouble sleeping at night. She hears every noise. For peace of mind, I realized that when we came up here, we were going to, probably at some point, look to install an alarm system in the house.
We went to Spectrum to set up our Internet, TV, and telephone. They’re somehow affiliated with ADT and they asked me if I wanted to talk to ADT. We were thinking of an alarm system anyway so we did that. I realize that ADT has a big reputation and I've heard of them. They made their offers. We invited somebody to our house, who we met with, went along and installed their quite sophisticated system. The guy who was here installing the equipment spent two days and was extremely patient with us. He was really quite good. He didn't leave here on the second day until after nine o'clock at night getting the camera hooked and answering all our questions.
I'm the older generation. I'm not technically as sophisticated as a lot of people are particularly with devices that have to be controlled online or through the internet. I was struggling a little bit. I called the company a couple of times and I was having some issues with understanding things. I got the runaround and that was a little bit difficult for me. But in the end, I figured it all out.
We're satisfied with the system. We're probably not using it to its hilt, but for the purposes that we wanted which are to basically alarm the house at night when we're in and to alarm the house when we're not out, those things are quite good. But their pricing is a little bit misleading and a little bit high. It's not outrageous, but higher than I had really planned on spending. With the old system we had, we can't compare to what we have now. Even the monthly monitoring was about half. It was $30 and ADT is closer to 60. Is that something we can afford? No. But the $30 for a system that maybe had 25% of the features that this ADT system has is fine. They installed carbon monoxide detectors and smoke alarms on all levels. They gave us a lot of equipment. We got a discount off their list price. But in reviewing the cost of individual components on their system, it was a little high.
They give you this tremendous offer but you find out that all the devices that they're selling you are really expensive. We bought it, we did it, and the system is working fine. It's peace of mind for us. Had I been on my own, I would have probably not gotten involved. But my wife feels differently and it's particularly important to sleep at night. At this point in our lives, it's not worth it to not have peace of mind. Also, the technology is quite good and it works well, at least in our experience so far. Hopefully, we'll never have to use it.

The only thing is I'm having trouble getting the system connected to the Alexa app or to the Alexa Echo Amazon. It says it does though. I tried to go that route because it was supposed to work with Alexa. But it keeps telling me to log in and tried to log in through ADT control. Then with what the features that they were offering and how easily I could call over their customer service, we decided to go with them. Their reps were pretty friendly and approachable. They didn't pull information over my head and everything was explained clearly. I tried to negotiate a little bit and they had little flexibility as well. They were willing to listen and work with the customer. So, I was happy with that. The system had a little stick-on sensor but after a few days, it fell off. I just came to the house and I noticed that the sensor was on the ground. So, the sticker was not good. They should be using some kind of Velcro or have a better approach to sticking on the sensor.

I wanted a security company and saw ADT ads on social media. I called them and also three other different companies. ADT could get out to us the soonest. Everything was great with their installer. So far, the system has been good. I got a front camera to the front side of the house, a camera to the back of the house as well as a doorbell camera and sensors on all windows.
Every time that somebody comes close to the doorbell and the doorbell camera senses that, it would record a clip then it would send me a notification or let me know that there was some motion there. That's working fine. I could go to the app and I can go view a video clip which is perfect. That's what I like. However, I'm sitting thinking, I've got this camera out there and I could open my app and sit there and watch it at any time. I could even watch it live. But what about in the middle of night like at 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning when somebody is trying to break into my car outside? If I'm sitting here watching the video at that time and I could see somebody doing that, that's great. But what happens when I can't like when I'm sleeping and somebody comes and breaks into my car and it doesn't record?
I want the camera to record any time it senses motion. People break into businesses and the first thing the police does is to look at the video. But if I have no video, what's the point of having a camera? I'm not really feeling protected anymore. I could have just gone to Harbor Freight since they sell dummy cameras and I could put a couple of them there and nobody would ever know the difference. A thief would say, "Oh, they've got cameras."
I'm not unhappy with ADT's service at this point. But right now, I'm feeling like, "Did I just get ripped off?" These cameras aren't doing me any good. The peace of mind that I paid for, I don't feel I'm getting it now. But I'm gonna see what ADT is gonna do. I just haven't had an opportunity to give them a call yet. I hope that they're gonna say, "Oh Eloy, this is what you have to do," or "We can change that." But if they tell me the cameras that I got do not record then I'm gonna be a little upset. Why would they sell me cameras that don't work like that? That's my only concern.

So far I am NOT impressed with the service. We had a tech, or so I thought, named Tom come out and install the system while my mom was in the hospital. The goal was to get a more automated system so I could keep my eye on her. I also wanted to be able to LOCK the door if she did not b/c she had NOT been locking up and put a camera on her so I could see if she fell or if anything was amiss if I could not get her on the phone. I also was very animate that I wanted the device that she wears to alert of a fall, which I was told would be on the truck with the guys along with the remote locking system. Those two things and the cameras were my immediate needs. I was told no problem.
The install day comes around and again the "tech" was really nice. Two guys showed up on time, (actually before time) however they did not call me on their way as requested in the notes b/c I do not live there, so they had to wait an hour to get started so I could travel to the house. The neighbor had to call me to tell me they were there so they didn't even have my phone number which is odd b/c it is the only one I gave them. I should have known from jump this would be an issue. They install all day but he did a good job however he did not know anything about the device for falling, which I found odd and so I was unable to obtain that. He also could not install the autolock system so I was screwed on that as well. So I got ONE camera and a doorbell camera, ugh. I was already not a happy customer but he told me they could come back and do the lock, I have yet to see that and it has been well over 2 months.
A few days later the system told me the doorbell battery was low. Huh, they JUST installed this so how could that be possible? I call the 1800# and the gal says, "Well you can pop it off and charge it." AH...why is it not charging? It is hooked up to a power source. That makes 0 sense. Now mind you I do not live at this home. I was not planning on having to CHARGE anything. Then she tells me that is not unusual, ah...ok that makes me even more upset. Ok so then I say I did not get a charger, her response (send me through the roof), "Well we do not provide one," WTF? I have NEVER purchased anything that requires charging YET the charger is NOT provided??? WTF again. I say.... "So I BUY a charger and charge it for over 3 days." I go back to install it and it will not connect.
I get mad and call for a tech to come out and fix it b/c I have had it. The tech Devin comes out and says that the problem is the doorbell should have never been installed b/c the voltage is not high enough to keep it charged. My options BUY a ring doorbell and replace it OR get an electrician to come and up the voltage. More $$ out of my pocket for a job they could not do. AH NO....I told the guy I am new, I have spent 3 grand for this cra* and someone is going to fix it at NO COST to me if you want to retain me as a customer b/c so far it is a complete failure. He says he will put in for a ring but he will have to schedule me a new appt. FINE...
So he sets one up, at least that is how his text read, for today from 8-12 with a tech to install the new device. I never got a reminder of the appt and so I felt I needed to give them a call this morning BEFORE I drove 30 mins x town to waste my time for no one to show up. In a shocking turn of events I DID NOT have an appt for today, he never set anything up. I was pissed. I made sure to call him out on it as well. He claims they called me to set up the appt but no one called me. Also why would they? HE said he was setting it up. So so far I am NOT happy with this service. They better step up their game or they will not continue to service my home!

He went over what he thought was a good plan for the way our house was set up and what our needs were. He did a good job in doing that.
He explained everything to the best of what we would seek to know from not knowing anything. But after someone leaves, you hear things, and then certain things are still a little puzzle to us, which we might have to call them. The front is okay. But a couple of times, the back camera said malfunction or disarmed or something in that sense. And we're trying to adjust to the app. As far as the setting, and getting in and out, everything was okay. It would give us a warning. We arm and disarm the system when we leave the house, set it on sleep, those kinds of things. I want to call ADT back out again because of the back video camera, and maybe the tech can go over the procedures again with us about the app and setting the alarm to how we want it or to what we wanna hear. Other than that, it's a simple program to operate.

We just moved in an apartment and we felt like we should have some type of security. But I felt like I wasn't given all the information I should have known from the beginning. I wasn't told that if I don't like something, I have 72 hours. After 72 hours, I'm inside of the contract and I have to pay 75% of it which would've been $1,600. The answer that was given to me was the first 30 days, which was more understandable to give somebody time to try to see if they really like it or not. I was a little shocked and upset about that. It took me a little over that to see if I wanna keep it or not or go with a lower plan. Seeing that they wouldn't let me, I just didn't like that. But I'm stuck now, so I gotta get used to it.
The installation guy was very informational. However, before, we established that I didn't want a camera in the house. I have really bad anxiety and in a way, the camera makes me feel uncomfortable and alarmed in my own house. But he said that it comes with the package. I'm trying my best to adjust to it. It's a change that I have to get used to. Everything else is okay. The little signal sometimes is annoying or it's on delay sometimes. I'm getting more messages. Say if I open a door one time, it may send me two text messages and two messages from ADT, and it's just too much. I wanted security but I didn't want the plan that I was given. That was my thing. The guy tried to get the most out of me. I wanted the one for the $27.99. I didn't care about the extra stuff that comes with it. Security is security. As long as something is going off if somebody tries to get in here, that's all I need.

It seemed like it was upfront, so I had no problems with it. The installation went really well. They were very professional. They came in, did what they needed to do in the home, and explained everything to me. They left the home the way it was, except secured better outside of that. It was a really good experience and I really enjoyed it. The system is amazing. It's so simple.
Prior to the system, our bathroom door was open. Today I did it and this was in the upstairs shower. I made the alarm go off and they sent the response team. We know like, "It’s real." We were called and we explained to the representative what had happened and that we disarmed the system. But the fire department still came. We were told, “Once the alarm went out, we had to be dispatched.” I'm like, “Oh yeah, we’re safe.” And that was within a matter of maybe four minutes. We were supposed to get $300 worth of Visa and we haven't heard anything about that. He left without mentioning it again but I don’t think it was on purpose. He was a good guy and he did a great job. I Googled the different companies and ADT was the one that I ended up going with. ADT is a well-known company and I like having the security system along with the cameras. It was a better bundle. The person that scheduled my appointment was good. But it was kind of a little bit misleading from what he told me and then when the person actually came out. It was two different things or maybe he just didn't word it the right way, which I get. He's a salesperson so they kinda say it to kinda get you, which was fine since we wanted it.
When scheduling the appointment with the first rep, I messaged them that it's a two-story house and we were looking to get security cameras. I assumed that he would put all that in there. But when the person came out the very first time to install our system and cameras and kinda went over our package, he was very sketchy. He said he didn't have a ladder and he only had one camera. But we purchased three cameras. He said he could only do one that day but he didn't have a ladder to put it where we wanna put it. It was very unprofessional. With the virus going on, there wasn't any safety precautions he was taking. He was on his phone most of the time. He ended up borrowing my personal ladder that I had. Otherwise, the job wouldn't have gotten done.
He told me to call and someone else would come out or he would come out and have the other two cameras installed. So I gave it a week and I called again to have someone install the other two cameras. I made it clear that I prefer a different tech due to the first experience. So the day a tech was supposed to come out, I scheduled the timeframe. But then the first tech called my personal phone number and he said he was in the area and that he was following up with me to see if he could come over and install the other cameras. I told him that I already called and scheduled for somebody to come out. He said he was right around the corner and that he could stop by. I told him that I was not home and that I was expecting a different tech to come in later on. He said that he would just come then around that time.
I was at work that day but my sister was here when the tech came to install the other two cameras. So it ended up being that first tech came back. This time, he said he didn't have a drill. His drill was not working and asked me if I had a drill that he could use. I was annoyed. He ended up putting the two cameras in the wrong spot, so not where I wanted them. When he left that day, not one out of the three cameras were working. So he left my house, put the cameras in the wrong spot, drill holes in my house, and then he left without the cameras working.
My sister called me and asked me to check the cameras. I told her that they were in the wrong spot. The very first camera he installed a few weeks ago wasn't working anymore. He said he didn't touch that camera and that there was no reason it shouldn't be working. He said our Wi-Fi was not strong enough. So I called my internet company and they said I have the strongest Wi-Fi and that there was no way they could bump us up. On top of that, the tech made me purchase the Wi-Fi extender or adapter thing for this reason.
I told my sister to just let the tech go. He told my sister, "Oh, don't worry about it. When she gets off work, I'll just stop by." My sister told him that I wouldn't get home until 8. He said he only lives 20 minutes from our hourse and that he could come tomorrow on his day off. So he was making it really uncomfortable. I had to call again and get a third tech out here to come and fix the issues because my cameras weren't working and I needed them moved because they were in the wrong spot. When the third tech come out, he fixed everything. He did really good. Everything's working now. We like the security system.

I needed to put some security on my house. ADT told me what the options were. It was really simple. The installer was outstanding. His name was Kyle. He gave me his personal cell phone number. I’m in Arkansas working right now, and he came by the house and put the system in. Then, I had a minor issue with it. One of the alarms was going off every time I opened the basement door, and he got on the internet and fixed it for me right then. It was like 9:30 at night. He went above and beyond for me. As far as the alarm system, it's fairly easy to use. I've been out of town, and I take care of my grandmother, so that really was the reason for it. We got a homecare lady staying there now. She hasn't had any problems with it either. It gives me peace of mind. I can check on the phone and see the pictures of the doors, driveway and backdoor. So, it’s great.

I had CPI and their CEO and myself do not share the same values so, it was time for them to go. When I first called ADT, the rep was awesome and he was a pleasure to speak with. The gentleman on the phone and I got more stuff added to my package. Both of them were very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. The box is different from CPI and I had to call my tech from ADT. He was awesome and he took the time to explain everything. It has only been a few weeks that I’ve had it but I'm getting used to it. I like that no matter what I do, I get a text and an email. I ran to the store and I was just going down the street, and it said, "Door open, alarm not set". I love my subdivision but I'm an over-the-road truck driver, so when I'm gone for weeks at a time, that's when I set it. ADT rocks.
I have a neighbor across the street and they said that I don't have CPI anymore. Her contract ends at the end of July and she's going to inquire from ADT also. We built our home and it's a fairly new subdivision, and CPI was who they had a contract with. We all thought we have three-year contracts and they ended up being five-year contracts. So, that was the turn-off. My five years was up in May and I said that this was not working for me. ADT has been good so far and my tech left me his number and said that if I have any problems, I should not hesitate to call. He'll come out or he can walk me through something. I appreciate that because I didn't have that with CPI. They installed the system, gave me my book and bye. So, I'm definitely satisfied.

The reps are easy to talk to and they're a decent price. I have to have a rep come in and redo something today. One of their boxes fell off my sliding door in the middle of the night for some weird reason. I had to set up an appointment. I talked to somebody last Saturday. I talked to the tech that originally did it. I texted him, and then he talked to customer service and then we got customer service to set up an appointment for today. I instantly got ahold of that technician faster than I did with customer service. It was nice that I got to contact him directly.
I am interested to find out and I would need to ask them, that when the alarm went off, it did something weird in the middle of the night but ADT didn't call me and say, "Something was wrong with your system. Are you okay?" They had no reaction to that. I thought they would call me and ask if that was a false alarm and what was going on. But overall, the reps did pretty good to me. I felt comfortable with them.

There was a special offer from ADT through my credit card and the purchase went smoothly. The service representative clearly communicated the offering. I had the installation scheduled in about 30 minutes but the installers came three weeks out. I needed to have them come at a specific time. The system was easy to begin with so coaching wasn't necessary but the training was adequate.

I wanted the security system to be streamlined because the previous owners of the house had ADT before. So I figured that the takeover would be easy. The first technician tried to get it through the attic but he couldn't do it, so the manager was going to come out. The first technician was amazing though and he did awesome. I really enjoyed working with him a lot. He took a lot of time to walk me through everything and when he couldn’t get it through the attic, he stopped and requested the manager to get someone else out here who could. He didn’t go forward and I really appreciated that.
Then they had another person come out and try to put the monitor in. It was hardwired into my guest bathroom and I didn't realize how bad it looked like until after he had left. He was very polite and very professional but I was not happy with his work at all. It's a big eyesore and the water splashes on where the plug is. So, someone's coming out today to see if they can reinstall it somewhere where it's not going to show and not be by the water. I’m going to have to patch up that bathroom as well. Other than that, I keep having issues when I’m trying to alarm the system through the back when I go out the garage and I also asked them to kinda see what’s going on with that when they come out today.

I also like that it's easy to read. It’s all nice and lit up.

ADT was offering a good promotional special and when I called, the interaction was great. However, the representative over the phone should not tell you that you're gonna get an email and then they don't do that. I was told I was gonna receive an email with everything that we had discussed and that didn't happen. I had to call back and try to figure out why I didn't receive my email. I went back and forth with the customer rep and the manager that was on duty at that time.
Also, this is a new house and the installer did not wear any mask. I did not have any to provide him, but right now, ADT needs to focus on providing PPE to their installers going into houses. He should have PPE available to put on his shoes as well as gloves and a mask. When the installer came, he told me exactly what he was coming to do and then I informed him that no, I was told that he would have everything that was supposed to be on order. He got me up to speed on what exactly was supposed to happen for the installation and he was great. I received all the sensors on the windows and doors and the key fob.

I had a contract with Vivint and since I had this big screen on my wall, I liked that I can go on it and pull my cameras up. I can screenshot anything on that panel and I can have my doorbell thing pulled up as well. I wanted to lower my bill that I was already paying with them and when I decided to go with ADT, they told me I could get the same thing for $56 a month and I was all for it. I explained to the rep how much in detail that Vivint goes and I liked all the details. I was informed that they would offer the same as what I already had with Vivint, but she didn’t tell me that the system didn’t come with a doorbell.
A lady told me I had to go buy one and that’s not what I was told at first. Also, ADT isn’t updated enough yet. They just offer this big panel that goes on the wall for nothing ‘cause we can’t even look at our cameras or anything else. It’s just to enter a pin number in for monitoring the security. It’s the same size as the Vivint one, but they don’t offer what they offered. I wouldn’t recommend ADT.
Another thing is that the guy who came out to install the system drilled through my wall, hit my electrical line and lost power. It flipped my breaker as well. Now, I’ve got to pay for an electrician to come out and check to see if the wire in the wall is damaged because the electrician told me not to use the plug because if he turned the light out and hit the breaker, then he could have split a wire. The ADT guy didn’t tell me that he did that, but I noticed that when the lights went out. My son was in the shower and he was flipping out that there was no electric. We then went to the breaker and shut it off and all the guy did was put some little silicone in the little hole and then drilled another hole.

ADT's service never worked well at our house. Given all the new security system options on the market, we decided to cancel ADT. On my first call, the representative gave us a month's billing credit ($29.99) and said a service tech would be scheduled to rectify our issues. A service tech never contacted, and two weeks later I called back again to cancel with finality. A week later, my credit card was charged $29.99; the credit I was promised to defer initial cancellation never appeared. Three calls, six service representatives, and almost two months later, my credit/refund has not materialized.
There is a pattern: I call ADT, the representative reviews my account, promises an action within a 7-10 business days. Ten business days later, I call ADT and find out the action request was never submitted/approved/properly processed or is otherwise stuck in limbo. My advice: take careful notes when contacting ADT with service or account problems, so you can effectively dispute their overcharges via your credit card protection, and clearly state your deadline by which ADT must resolve the issue to your satisfaction. ADT's strategy must be to retain final billing through customer fatigue and inattention.
Hello Sarah. We are very sorry for your frustrating experiences. We've located your account and can confirm that a refund check is going to be processed for $29.99 and mailed to you. Please allow 15 business days for that to be processed and sent out. If you have any questions about the refund check, please give us a call at 1-800-38-2727. Thank you. -Andrew

We've been with CPI for about 16 years and there weren't problems with customer service, we were just unhappy about what their CEO comments were made back regarding the issues that were going on in the United States about minorities and so we decided we didn't want to be with that particular type of company. I went online and researched a couple of places and we narrowed it down to two.
Then, I called CPI first, and the young man that helped me connected me with the lady. She gave me the quote and what the information would cover. We talked about one piece of equipment which was the vision thing on the doorbell and that was a little bit too expensive for our budget. She said that I could buy something off of Amazon for about $70 and install it myself. When she told me that, I thought that I could work with somebody like this who wasn't pressured tactics to sell. She gave me that kind of information so my husband said to go with ADT and never bother going with the other company.
Then the installer came on time. In fact, he was very punctual and courteous. We drove him crazy asking him a bunch of questions. There was an issue though when we got ready to sign the paperwork that the cost per month was not what was first quoted to me on the original call and also what was on the website, and I explained that to him. It was only about a $7 or $8 a month. He apologized for that because there was a change probably between the time I decided, so we made a decision. He made a phone call and he got it approved, that they would honor the quote that was originally given to us. We were very happy with that and I appreciated that.
We had to leave and my husband, who uses the remote, had to come back inside to get his glasses and he hit the wrong button and set off the panic button. It was immediate. I got a phone call while sitting in the car waiting for him to come back out. The young man introduced himself and asked me if everything was okay. He explained to me why he was calling and I told him what happened. He asked for my name and our password. I really appreciate that he double-checked to make sure it was us. So far, the system has been good.
The only thing is that I paid $105 to hold the deposit for them and they explained to me that I would be getting a debit card with $100 on it. But it wouldn't be the $5 'cause that was tax. I asked the gentleman who did the installation about that and he said I should get a link sent to my email to apply or to ask for that, but I haven't seen anything so I didn't know who I needed to contact about that issue. I thought I'd wait till the end of this week and if I didn't see anything, I would go ahead and call.

But the pricing part was a pain because they said I had to pay $107 at the beginning, and then when they got here, I ended up paying another 300 out of pocket. And then it said $59 a month, but then that was not even including taxes on the paperwork of the guy that got the system installed. I also thought that I would have at least a camera inside my house other than the ones on the outside. And then, when I got to the system, I realized that I just wasted some money to get a system because somebody is always at home and I never even have to turn on my alarm. But other than those things, the installation went well. The tech was friendly and he explained everything well.

Today I called them that I have updated my WiFi and need to update my camera. They wanted me to get onto a ladder (which I don’t have) to reset my camera. I’m unable to reach anyone to speak with to find out why I’m being told now that I have to pay $450 for the PREVIOUS contract that should not be in service. The new contract forced from ADT was set up for connection 8/3. The leasing agent stated they have security through Comcast; however, I’m not going to be stuck with a $450 cancellation contract; therefore since ADT wants to be unreasonable, connection needs to be set up and I’ll stick with the $29.99 for the 12 months! ADT GIVES ME NO CHOICE. DO THEY?
I’m really flaring and suffering from distress due to all of this as it has triggered my autoimmune issues! I’m to the point where I’m ready to contact NBC 12 NEWS AND AN ATTORNEY if this is not resolved. I have the keypad that Rick/ Rich asked me to take from ** Lane to turn into ADT also. Someone needs to get this equipment.
Updated on 07/14/2020: After Numerous complaints, ADT has failed to resolve the said issues. They response on several sites asking for the information and then do not resolve the problem nor provide their email information or they respond stating their "relocation policy is found on their website". (Attachments were included.)
Original Review: ADT does NOT disclose their "relocation policy" in contracts prior to customers signing them! I have been dealing with an ongoing dispute for weeks now to include a BBB complaint. I am relocating and there is absolutely nothing in my contract stating that relocating is breaking the contract, however, ADT does not allow for the equipment to be moved per their "relocation department", requires you to pay for additional equipment, raises the price of the monthly service AND requires you to sign an additional 36-month contract. This makes absolutely zero sense when you are a renter. ADT is unfair and practices bad business ethics.

ADT ended up bringing the price down to about $2,600. The tech also didn't have all the things he needed and had to come back another time. He broke one of the parts for the basement water detector as well. He had to get another one of those. Now, we're waiting on an outside camera that he has not installed. We've been in Minnesota for how many years so we were comfortable with that, but here in Colorado, we're not comfortable. In our area, being a new construction, people go in there, break in and steal stuff and dump stuff off. It took a while for them to stop doing that. ADT's installer is a nice guy. He installed the motions on the doors and a camera.
We also have a doorbell but the tech couldn't install that because our Wi-Fi now had a symbol in it and they couldn't install it then unless we changed the password. We changed the password to remove the symbol so he could install the doorbell. Most passwords demand you to make sure there's a symbol, uppercase and how many letters. The tech called and asked ADT if you could actually put a symbol in it and he said no, they couldn't. Sometimes, I call ADT if the system is not working. Where I live in South Florida, everybody has a security system because there's a lot of crime. There are predominantly two signs in everybody's yard, ADT or Xfinity which I have for Wi-Fi service. I decided to go with ADT because security is all they do. Plus, I had them at another address in a different part of the country. When I bought a new home, my name was farmed out to other services and everybody started calling me. ADT called me up and I explained to them that I was a previous customer. They offered me a discount and I found that it was way above and beyond what most people get. I got a discount on equipment of about $3,000 and other people normally get a $900 standard discount. Being a repeat customer got me better discounting.
However, we scheduled the installation the day after my closing. It was a 60-day closing period. 10 days before the supposed installation date, I got a phone call from ADT saying that we needed to set up a date to install. I told the reps that we already had a date. It was important to me that as soon as I own my property it would be protected but ADT did not have anybody to install. So, I had to wait another week to get the installation done which was a bit annoying. That made me second guess my choice.
On the day of the installation, they sent out their tech Louie who was clearly one of their top installers. It was a big installation and he was at my place most of the day. ADT's process was beyond outstanding. He talked to me about every single thing and gave me really good advice on some of the preconceived ideas I had about the placement of my cameras and motion detectors. He gave me a lot of inside information and was a pleasant person. He was very friendly and we chatted. I ended up having a problem with one of the cables put in and he brought me another one. ADT was recommended by the deputy sheriff in Baldwin County and then I had simultaneously received the brochure that said I could get free equipment and it's for 27.99 a month. We scheduled the appointment with the sales rep and Mike ** came out. He was very, very good. But it was a little questionable that they told me I had to pay $99 upfront to schedule the appointment and then they told me I'd get that back with $100 Visa cards. Then the charge ended up being 107.99. When the salesman came, I had to send in all the paperwork to get the Visa card. I had to go get a 4.95 money order. So I'm really only get $95 back and I had to put in 107. They owe me $12. I like for people to be straightforward about things because the devil is in the details.
The other thing that I really didn't like is the circular said that I could get it for 27.99 a month. That's if you have a landline but it doesn't specify that. I ended up having to pay 59.99 a month. Another thing ADT doesn't tell you is that you pay him $107 upfront but they say it's 99, then you schedule the installation and when the tech got out there, he said that it was one day install. But we had to make a decision right then and there. So there's a bit of bait and switch going on there. I would appreciate knowing that upfront. We got the new touchpad and it's really, really easy to use. It's like a little Kindle or iPad. It's very nice. We hope it works well.

The individuals whom I spoke to prior to the consultation and then our individual who came to the house to do the consultation had very pleasing personalities and were very attuned to what I was saying and what I was requesting. Thus far, I have no complaints because everything has operated correctly.

We bought a home and ADT contacted us and said that we were given a $100 credit for goods. We decided to go with them and went through a very simple process to purchase their system. Their rep worked with what we wanted and our needs. The installation only took three hours and everything was very well explained by the techs. They were very thorough. With the system, it's nice that we are able to set a reminder for when we don't turn our alarm on by a certain time.

The house was protected before, but it was a very old system. ADT put it in about 12 years ago. I had used Guardian and I wasn't happy with it. I called ADT, and so we completely redid the system for the house. It was very expensive. I have used ADT before, and I got an advertisement. The price has turned out to be a whole lot higher than the advertisement said. I've had an uneasy feeling for a couple of months. But I got what I paid for, which was peace of mind. The system is easy to use, too. As far as the people, the guy that came out spent 14 hours here. We got to know each other really well. I bet he wanted to get it done. He was a very dear guy. He was very personable and seemed to know what he was doing. He was kind, thoughtful and careful.

With all this stuff going on, I wanted to have a security system. I wanted ADT because they were running a special and I could afford it, but then they told me it was almost $60. That wasn't running in my budget. Still, they came, hooked up the stuff, and except for the monthly paid charges, I’m very satisfied with it. I haven't investigated any of it yet, but the installer hooked the remote control thing. He was sweet too. He told me he could get me a cheaper rate, but it still ended up being a lot higher than I had. Apart from that, I love the system and I had recommend it to a friend.

Customers beware: A contract with "Blue by ADT" is not a contract with "ADT". I signed up with "Blue by ADT" when I was moving to a condo for a year. Now, I am moving to a house and ADT can't send a professional technician to set up my home security because I am with "Blue by ADT". My only choice is to buy and set up 100+ sensors on my own to secure my new house to keep my family safe. "Blue by ADT" technician (Dylan) gave me the assurance that if I sign a new contract with ADT and get a new ADT system installed at my house, "Blue by ADT" would waive my early termination fee ($500). An ADT technician (Steve) couldn't confirm this waiver. I am stuck with no security at my new house.

My mom uses ADT and when they set everything up for me, it was great. The tech asked what my security needs were at the time and advised me of different things I could do to upgrade along the way depending on what my financial situation was at this time. He showed me how to use the system on my phone and on the key fob. He was very thorough which was great. He was also very patient and explained everything. He was awesome. They had to do the extra billings the next three days though and that's the one thing that did throw me for the loop a little bit because I wasn't prepared for that. I didn't know anything about it until he came out and advised that they were gonna have to do that. It got me in bind a little bit. I would've postponed the installation because I had just moved. I would recommend that they let someone know that there would be another fee that is outside of the initial fee, at the time of install.

I had to check my phone all day and he had to wait for some people on the other end. But other than that, it was okay. The service of the salesperson was good. Just when you call, they should tell you whether you’re gonna buy it. ‘Cause I didn’t know. One time, he told me like 500-some dollars for four months and I couldn’t do that. So, when you call, they need to tell you, “We’ll give you option on what you want to do,” before they throw the price at you. But I'm satisfied with them.

My experience with them was always good not great but good. Today July 8 I'm the middle of a pandemic I was called by service agent Tina. None of this is Tina's fault however I'm sure that's not even her name. She called stating that my account was in delinquent. Lol I have auto-pay so the last 3 times they called about this that statement ended the call but Tina tells me that no this is from 2018 and they couldn't charge it with the auto pay.
Now maybe Tina was a retired cop or maybe just trying to sound like one but she basically ignored me when I told her that in 2018 I remember clearing this up but she wasn't having it and now I'm paying for 2 months of service. Why did I have to wait 2 years to get a call about this. Is there billing practices really that much of a joke? So in the end I paid the bill even though I'm just coming off of furlough and not in the best financial shape but what am I going to do. I guess the service is good knock on wood I don't know because I've never had a break in but if they took two years to sort out billing issues what else is falling through the cracks. May need to think about someone new. Sorry ADT I hate airing this review out but there's no way to email or message them directly.
Hello Julio- We apologize for the troubles. Our auto-pay charges you for one month at a time and may not charge you for previous bills. They were higher priced and wireless. I didn't like it. I found out that the wiring in the house was better than the wireless because it’s doubling up the system. The older system has become useless. There were signs around the neighborhood that people have ADT on their property. I don't really know much about home security to begin with and just within the last three months, we've had four incidents here. The license plate on my husband’s truck was stolen and swapped with a stolen vehicle's plate. His tire was also vandalized. Before the theft, the 2020 sticker that you put on your license plate was also stolen. Then on July 2nd, my car was stolen right out of the driveway. I was worried. They started with the cars and they’ll eventually gonna come in the house.
We have a camera on the front porch that angles over the driveway so you could see on the porch when someone comes up. You could see most of the front yard and the driveway but at night, you cannot see the driveway. So, I wanted to get a doorbell cam and have that camera that's on the front porch more towards the driveway. But the installer said that because our house is so old, there's probably no wire. He worked for six hours. We had 24 windows and two doors. So, he put a sensor on every window and every door. We also got a camera in the back, so we got a total of two cameras. It was a cool experience.
All our bedrooms are downstairs in the basement and my husband works nights, so I like that we have the system up and running. If somebody tries to come in the window or the door, I won't have to worry about waking up with somebody in the house. I feel a lot safer since having the system, especially at night. I've never had a security system in my house in my entire life, so it's something new to get used to but it's very easy, especially with the mobile app. I love it. I like being able to set it without having to set the main station. If we forget to set it when we leave the house, I'm like, "Oh no," but then I'm like, "Oh yeah, the mobile app."

The sensors go off saying there's a burglary when I know there’s none. It could be just from the weather. So, I don't know if those sensors need to be readjusted on the windows. Those are the same couple ones that give a false alarm, and that should be addressed.

I used ADT at my home up in Oregon. I don't know how many choices there are in a small town with 1,190 people, but they were there. I chose them because of their reputation and when I looked at some of the others, they seemed to have the most options. I'm a lawyer and based on my investigation three years ago, I gather that almost all of the security services have a clause in their contract. If the company gets sued or has any problems with somebody I have no control over (a third party), I have to indemnify them. I fought that and I even went to somewhere in Atlanta and talked to them. I said that was crazy, but they insisted on it, so I signed the contract with that in there.
I've called their customer service a couple of times with questions in the first year of service and I got answers. I was happy after the call. My first three years just passed and I renewed for another three. They've done very well for me and I'm happy with them. When the alarm goes off, they send me a text and they also call. Then, I just started seeing noticeable things that were changing, so I thought it was time to get ADT. My experience with their rep was really great. He explained a lot and he understood my circumstances. However, I should've asked more detailed questions because I was under the assumption that the $100 fee that I was paying was for the service. I didn't know I had to pay the additional 299 to activate the camera. There was no issue with that, but it would be great if they would give the total package upfront, not just the advertised package.
The installer was great because he was telling me what features would go best for my house. What I really wanted to get was a little bit pricey for me. I understand ADT has to sell its product, so I stuck with it and I didn't go back to the other company that had given me a quote which was cheaper. With ADT, they wanted four lump sums and it was $300 and something a month, plus my monthly service. That was like $350 a month for a security system. That's a lot, even for me and even if I wanted to put that on a credit card every month. But I'm satisfied with my service. It goes off every time the wind blows, but I'm gonna have to figure that out. I was just dissatisfied with how the system was packaged to me because it wasn't packaged like that on the phone when I called to make the appointment. But the tech was very helpful. When it got here, even the package that they were selling to install is not available at 27.99. They're giving somebody a camera for free, but it doesn't work with the 27.99 package. I'm sure all of that was written down in the fine print had I taken out the magnifying glass to read it. As it turns out, we settled. We found a nice compromise. ADT and How They Cheated a Hurricane Harvey Victim – Most Negative Review Possible. We live in the Houston area and had a major upgrade to our ADT system in 2016 – cost over $1000 and was a “reinstallation” so came with a new 3 year contract. August 2017 Hurricane Harvey put over 3’ water in the house for 3 days. An old house made damage even worse. Having a previous shallow flood forced the decision to demolish & rebuild, not repair. A new house, same spot but elevated foundation and never flood again. Moving out, cleaning, packing and salvaging everything downstairs and just packing and storing everything upstairs took a long time.
In 2018 we called ADT and explained there was nothing left to protect. The empty house would stand there waiting for Habitat for Humanity to “Deconstruct” it (volunteers strip and salvage every useful thing) then demolish. I told ADT we were hurricane victims and should not have to pay money for nothing any more – they didn’t care, you have a 3 year contract– keep paying. So we did. Late in 2018 I called again and asked if they could cut the monthly rate at least. They said sure we can cut it to $19.99+ tax for 6 months. They didn’t tell me it would start another 3 year contract and I never agreed to it..
So after 6 month discount the rate went back up - then August 2019 I called to say my 3 years from 2016 were up – stop billing me. They said “no way I agreed to a new 3 year contract when I called in 2018 so “keep on paying until 2021”. They claimed I made a “verbal contract”. I didn’t, but that didn’t matter – they threatened my credit if I didn’t keep paying. We are still paying them money for nothing. New house is almost finished finally. Who’s going to provide our security? Not ADT for sure. They shouldn’t provide yours either.. I'm not going to pay more for ADT than what I pay for Vivint, and I have more options with Vivint.
He called his boss because I was upset about it and he ended up giving it to me for $27 because they said they were going to go back to listen to the recording, but evidently, whoever gave me the service didn't know what she was talking about. Everybody needs to be on the same page. Also, I don't think the installer gave me everything that I was supposed to get. I know he put a motion detector in and something on my son's front door and his back door, but wasn’t I supposed to get anything for the windows? Still, I like him.

I've used ADT for six years now. I like their price but then all of the providers are kind of expensive.

I was tired of the service that I had before. They were outdated and kept raising the prices, so I decided to change. The initial package deal for the install of ADT stood out to me. I've had absolutely no issues with them at all. We added a sunroom on the back of the house. They came out, moved and installed new sensors, and I haven't had any problems with it. The guy was on time. They are a little expensive, but they're well worth it. I would like to see them improve their packages a little bit more and not have quite so many add-ons and raising the price at the same time. But their service seems to be very good.
