I had an issue with an intruder in my backyard on Tuesday and ADT said they could be out there the next day. I know the name and they were the first people I called. They were at my house on Thursday with the new system. The gentleman was very good. He did what he had to do, and he didn't put it up quick and make a mistake. He took some time and did it right. The installer ran over the grid with me and my wife. We use the smart phone app and it’s just easier. All I gotta do is get on my phone, open the app, disarm the system, arm the system and we go.

My contract with another company expired, so I thought I'd give ADT another try. I had ADT before. Before I left, I couldn't keep the same monitoring fee but I started out with one monitoring fee. This time, it was supposed to be 27, but it ended up being higher because of the equipment. So with that being said, I had the option to say no, but I went ahead anyway because I wanted my home protected. The person from ADT over the phone was pretty professional. And everything was fine with the gentleman that came out to install the equipment.
The system is working really good. I had to pay for some other things out of my pocket also. I still ended up spending several hundred dollars. Then, the key fob wasn't left with me. When the gentleman was out here, he didn't leave a sign in the yard. I had to call and tell him that I needed a sign put in the yard. He might've been in a hurry but for whatever reason, they had to schedule another appointment where they had to bring the key fob back out and bring the pamphlet showing how to operate the system. I had to schedule another appointment to do it. So I spent time out of my day waiting at home for them to bring that out and program it. They also never sent my $100 Visa card. I haven't heard anything about that.

Was not fully explained started installing the equipment into my house before I have even agreed to anything. The representative said I had to pay this much on the day of installation after he had already installed it and I said, "No I don't want to do this," and he's simple, "I've already installed the equipment so this is a contract. You're stuck in it." Just very dissatisfied and I want out of this contract not only that but I was supposed to receive $100 Visa gift card that I have never received. This is a scam and they suckered me into it.

I just happened to get the Protect Your Home thing in the mail, but the ADT part of it got a long-time reputation. It has been around for a while. There were two installers and both were very informative and accommodating. It was overall a positive experience. ADT was good.

ADT was recommended by my sister who also has it. I got ADT because I had a break-in in my car. Everything was good with my experience with ADT, but I just wanted to get some information on how to make the camera to record itself. I'm also supposed to be getting a $100 gift card, which I never got, so far.

My church had ADT and my pastor recommended for us to get one also. The ADT rep was on point with everything. He sat there and took the time ‘cause we were a little green about it. He showed us how to go on our phone to get it, what to do and what to expect. He explained everything that we needed to know. So now, we know that the system is pretty simple to use. He was really helpful. ADT is something good to have when you're not at home. Someone is watching your house for you.

ADT's sales rep was alright. I didn't know that we covered everything though, and I was on the phone a long time. By the time I installed, I still had questions. Other than that, they matched me up with the right plan. I like the features that I had. I like being able to have the home automation. So far, so good. The system has worked pretty well. I would like a little more flexibility on what I'm able to do on a sensor-to-sensor basis. So, for example, I have the time going off whenever a door is open, but I really only want that on the front door. I don't necessarily want that on all the doors. I wish I had a little more flexibility there like I did on my other system. Other than that, it's giving me everything that I need thus far. I feel like it’s more secure in that house now that I have this system.

We like the cellular aspect of ADT and its reputation. The experience was wonderful over the phone. We loved what they told us over the phone about using our old equipment. However, when the installers got there, they said we could use none of the old equipment. So it went from us, paying about 50 bucks for them to come and install, to us, paying almost $3000 to get everything installed. The experience with the technicians was pretty cool though. There were a couple of things that weren't right, and they came back and made everything right. Part of the initial slip-up is we wanted every window covered, and they didn't cover a couple of windows in the garage. They didn't bring enough stuff, so when they came back, they took care of it. So far, it seems to be working well.
However, the Xfinity was way easier to use and the app's way better. The app was as soon as you click on a camera, you could click on the screen and it would pull up all the events. There was nothing to do. You just hit any event you want to see, and it will play back that event live to you. Maybe I'm just not used to ADT yet. I had a package delivered to my house yesterday, I'm in Colorado, and it was signed for by my neighbor, which was fine 'cause they pick up my packages. But I got the Ring on the doorbell thing and there are no events recorded.
This one, we haven't been able to playback any event. So that's the biggest thing. If that would happen and if that could be fixed then I would be happy with it. One other thing, too. I was supposed to receive money, a Visa card for signing up and I haven't received it. I don't know where that comes in or how. They sent me a link and it was so complicated to do the link that I don't even know when I get it, if I get it, or what.

Protect Your Home was a whole thing from first home owners and it was convenient to go with them, especially since they called me. The reps I talked to were very nice and because English is not my first language, they would repeat when I didn’t understand. It didn’t bother them and they spoke very understandingly, not too fancy that I couldn’t understand. So far, I like that I can set up the alarm and take it down with my phone. The system is easy to operate and .since having it, I feel more confident leaving the house alone.

ADT gave me the fastest available appointment. Their rep was fine but the prices and the product that I was told to get changed a little bit. I was promised was that all the windows were gonna be covered. The rep said that I was gonna get sensors on my windows but instead the technician told me that he could only give me the glass break ones. So the glass break was the only thing that I got. But there are ways to get in without breaking the glass. Other than that, the installation went great.

The installation of my ADT system was a real mess. I've been offered an alarm system with two key fobs and a touchscreen panel. I never have been able to talk to the people that sold me the system again. I told the installer, "Oh, I gotta go to work. My kid and my wife is gonna stay here. My wife is at work. My kid can communicate with me or whatever." That was what I told ADT how it was gonna be before they came over here. The installer said, "Well, if you're not gonna be here, I can stop." A minute later, he said, "Yeah, I guess I can install it, but you have to sign by email." I told him it was not a big deal.
My wife texted me and told me that there no key fobs. She didn't know about the deal. She didn't know why there were none of that. On top of that, I didn't wanna involve her because she was gonna be busy working. So I said, "No, that's supposed to be two. So I'll call when I get home." I work all day and when I came home, the person left my house. I called when I got home, it was the Labor Day weekend, so it was gonna be a long weekend. I knew I only had three days to cancel the whole deal. So then, I talked to somebody, they told me their office would not open until Tuesday. Tuesday was more than three days. I couldn't wait that long.
I waited until the next day and I kept thinking about it, and I knew I gotta call somebody. Somebody gotta give me an answer. So, I called and they gave me the local number. There were two companies involved. One is ADT, and one is something else. I talked to the other company. I talked to somebody and that person finally was able to tell me, "Okay, we're gonna give you the two key fobs, and they're never being changed." The key fobs are supposed to be dropped off on Thursday. On Thursday, somebody called me after 11:00 to let me know that it was gonna be late getting there. It was supposed to be between 11:00 and 3:00.
I said, "Look, till 5:00 you have because after that, my kid's gotta go practice and nobody's gonna be at home." Somebody showed up, and then he told me he was the manager and he was gonna install it because they've got nobody else available. He personally was gonna do that and get the key fob programmed. But then, he came at about 5:30. I thought he was still in my house. He didn't say none of that. What he said was, "I'll call in to collect the payment for you." I said, "Payment? What're you talking about it?" He said it was for one key fob. I said, "Look, I already talked to many people about this, and I'm not gonna get into this with you again. You can now leave there, pack everything, take everything, put everything how it was, and we're done here." He said, "You're gonna have to cancel. We're gonna have to cancel this, and then I'll call you in a couple of days to find out what time I wanna come here and take everything back."
Nobody called, so it looked to me like he was trying to get some money for me even after I had an agreement. On top of that, I was specific and asked somebody had to go to a record and call when they offer me this system. Nobody wants to confirm or check a phone call that had been made to me, and it's a recorded line, to see what I've been offered. I'm still waiting for somebody to come and fix whatever was wrong here. But the thing is I had a company before and two sensors need to be replaced, and they did not have the replacement for free. But when I called to cancel, they said, "We'll replace it for free." We gotta work every day. I don't have time to be dealing with that crap every day.
Hello Luis. We are sorry to hear of your frustration and would be happy to reach out to your installing company on your behalf and request they contact you directly to address your concerns. Thank you, Carla

I know of Protect Your Home and ADT because it's a reputable company. The sales rep explained everything very thoroughly and spent a lot of time going over my questions and things like that. It was a great experience. Also, the package is great. The only thing I was disappointed in was not being able to afford the doorbell camera upfront. I wanted it but I'm on a fixed income and I wasn't able to get that. They could give a better deal on that and make it more affordable.
I'm getting the rate of having a doorbell camera. I’m paying the extra 10 to have the keypad that will get me ready for the doorbell so I wouldn't have to change the keypad out. But one thing on my keypad is it's very loud and sometimes it would wake up somebody in the house when I open the door. I like that function because I'd like to know who's coming in what door but I can't turn the volume down. I don't want to turn it all the way up.

We had to straighten out some billings. I didn't get the billing sent to the correct address because we had a second home. But that's been the only bump we've had. Everything else went great. They've done a great job. We already had the system installed, so I had to turn it back on. The tech did a great job getting everything set up because we had an older system and he had to do some upgrades. He also had to drive about two hours to get to our house because we're on a an outlying city, which kind of surprised me that ADT wasn't serving our city of 30,000 people.

I changed my internet provider from Comcast to AT&T and ADT is partnered with AT&T. I wasn't too eager to change ‘cause Comcast has been working for me since 2014. But after I did ADT's orientation and a visit with one of their technicians, he explained to me how ADT's system is better in the sense of break-ins. ADT also kind of network their whole company around security. That definitely had some sort of influence over me because when he explained the system I had versus the system that he was offering me, I saw all the reasons why I should change. The sales was phenomenal. The young lady kept making it more enticing for me to switch in terms of giving me all their promotions that they had available including a gift card for my initial $99 to have the technician come out. I haven't received that yet though.
As far as the technician himself, he is probably one of the best sales/technicians I've ever met. He was on point and very patient. He spent almost half of his evening at my house just waiting on me to make a decision. He said, “Take your time. Do all your pros and cons and see which one is gonna work out for you better.” We sat down and spoke about it. He showed me all the devices that they had. I really was impressed by the break-in devices that they put in the windows that detects if somebody tried to smash my window versus after they get into my house. When he told that to me and my wife, we were like, “It's a no-brainer. We definitely have to get it and switch.” I'm very impressed with ADT's system.

When we called to set up the system, ADT told us that we could get it for 27.99 a month. But then when we got it installed, the lowest we could get was 37.99. That was kind of frustrating. We felt a bit misled. We still went with it, but we would have liked to have that $10 savings per month. The rep was really good. That's how they reel you in. And then he comes and kind sells the products. He said maybe they were just confused because we already had a system. It was just an outdated system. So, we still went with it. The installation took longer than I thought, but it was an easy process. The glass break sensors are annoying. They keep going off. But other than that, we're okay so far.

ADT sell you all these dreams over the phone and when you come to the house, it's a whole different story. It's all about money so I wouldn't have gone with them. It was all lies and deceit. I would have stuck with my Ring because it is paid for and I'm not being gypped because I know what I'm getting. ADT should not sell something over the phone and then when you get in my house, it's a whole new ballgame. We were supposed to have a doorbell but we didn’t even get it because the rep was saying something about the wire. But there was wiring on there. It’s all a gimmick to me. There’s only one door chime in the door entry and I’m not so safe with that. I can’t even hear that in the basement or upstairs room. Still, I like the little bit that I do have in the alarm system.

The cameras don't work in my house. I kinda feel like ADT's rep duped me because he should've known that the upload speeds weren't enough for the cameras I got. The second time a guy came out, he knew what he was talking about because as soon as he checked my upload speed, he said the first guy should have never put these cameras up. All I wanted and cared about were the cameras. I would have never signed the contract. The guy on the phone told me one thing and then another guy showed up here. He was an actual salesman and told me a whole different story than what I was told on the phone. It's like a scam there.
Also, at first, I was told I was gonna get five free cameras but I only got three. And I ended up paying $1,000 for all the other stuff for the windows and the fire alarm. Then they knocked that down to 800 and they gave me $200 back because they said I overpaid. They're supposed to review my case and get back to me, which they haven't done yet.
Then, the sticky thing fell out of the window five days later and set the alarm off at 3 o'clock in the morning. I got a little five-year-old and he was running downstairs scared to death. It was kinda scary and plus, getting phone calls shutting it off. In my mind, I was like, "Something's just messed up because he just put it in." It wasn't a very good experience. It sucks because my mom and dad have been with ADT for like a year and everyone has recommended ADT. They liked it a lot and they never had any problems. But I'm the one that gets the problems. I just feel like I got ripped off.

ADT was installed here when I moved in a year ago and the system would tell me when the doors were open but it wasn't all working. Then, somebody came right into my home while I was sleeping and stole my checkbook because I fell asleep on the couch and left my door open. I got the security system up and running, and ADT's customer service reps have been great. They set a down payment, which I paid when I gave the salesman my credit card, then I have four payments. But I got a letter saying I paid nothing when it was installed. I don't know if it was charged to my account, but I didn't get any credit for it.
So I've got to go to the bank tomorrow and check on that. I'm also a little concerned that I wasn’t given any receipt or anything for my credit card debit, and it was $688. Other than that, everything's been okay. When I let my dog out two times and forgot to turn off the alarm, they called me to make sure everything was all right. So, I feel more secure because I think my neighbors are the ones that took my checkbook, but I didn't report them since I have no proof.

My wife is elderly and I wanna be able to look on her if I'm away. What I wanted was security, a fire alarm, door locks, cameras and maybe one motion detector. I told the people at ADT when I first made the order what I wanted and what I needed but the technician didn't have that equipment when he got here. He probably didn't get a word. They have to come back to bring back the other equipment that they didn't have. Their price is kind of steep for monitoring and there were also no backup batteries in the cameras. If it goes, you have to plug the cameras into the wall to get power. If they don't have the power, they can't transfer to the receiver. But it's my fault 'cause I didn't understand the system before they came out here. I did not realize the cameras would not move when you control. I should have asked more questions. But that technician was very helpful. He showed me everything and explained what to do about things.
I was gonna cancel 'cause they didn't have the system set up and I had three days to cancel the service from the day I signed the contract. Another thing is when I called about that, I couldn't get a direct answer out of the people I've talked to whether it was the day this was installed or the day I signed the contract. That was a big confusion there. I told them to give me the number and I was gonna cancel. One of the representatives called me back and asked me about what my complaint was, and I explained to her. She was the one that assisted me and that took care of the problem. In fact, she paid for the equipment.

Also, some of the door sensors are too flimsy. They tend to keep giving error message when you look on the screen. I grew up with ADT and my father and I loved it. It was secured. I saw that they had a special for $28 online. So I called them up and had a rep come over the house and he discussed the system that I needed for the house. A lot of bad things happened to my house and I needed some kind of security. So it would be nice to get into detail with them. I loved the system that they got and I wanted to put it in. Also, it was only for 28 bucks a month. I told the rep that I was looking for a package deal. The security that I have inside the house is 100% excellent and I love it. But it is only gonna help me inside the house, so I also need cameras outside. The ADT salesman said that their special was for inside only. The price would come out over $4,000. So I told him that I didn't know if I could afford it.
The salesman said that they were giving the system for free. All I had to do was to do what I wanted inside the house and they could do the cameras once they got the house done. I didn't get a labor bill to install the alarm system and I did get the system for free. I was freaking out and when I got done, I told my neighbors to call ADT and grab their special. My house is secured. I'd walk in the house and then I'd go for the panel really quickly. I love this system. I need security especially with this epidemic and I have them.
Now, this is the problem. The salesman told me that if he put cameras on the house, he would put ADT in a liability. He couldn't put ADT cameras. So I asked what he would recommend and he told me to go to any hardware store and pick the best system that I could possibly afford. Then I would have to make an appointment and they would send a guy over and hook it up for me. I also told him that I didn't have internet service so he told me to specifically ask for a system that could be connected without WiFi internet. So I bought the best system at Home Depot and it was called Night Owl. I then called and they transferred me to this woman. The lady set up an appointment to have a technician come to my house. She also asked if I bought the system that I wanted because I told them that I didn't have internet WiFi and that was what I bought. It was a four-camera with some kind of monitor that didn't need WiFi internet.
Now, the guy, Michael, showed up and he said that they would only deal with ADT equipment. I shouldn't have bought the cameras. He told me that no technician was gonna show up and hook up the system that I got and that I should call the ADT office immediately. So there was a misunderstanding here. I got the right system but the salesman that I spoke to lied to me. Michael is an excellent employee. I learned something knowledgeable and he didn't finger point or anything. He said that I should've gone with the ADT cameras when they came over the house to put in the system. He also confirmed that I did get the system for free.
I called ADT and they told me that they wouldn't hook up anything from any store that didn't have their name on it. They said that I had been mishandled and they would take care of it for me. I had been on the phone trying to figure out why I had to pay for the internet. I gotta pay for a monthly payment that went from 28 to like $70 a month.
What knocked me off my feet was that Michael said that he could send a guy over and hook up the system. The technician would come over and hook up for cameras as quickly as possible because they saw that I needed it because of the tampering and robberies that I had. But it would be for 1,800. Another guy said 2,000. The cheapest one to hook up the cameras for my house within the next couple of days was $1,500. I almost keeled over. I was made to feel good that I didn't owe $4,000 for the system inside the house. But now, I would need $2,000 for a guy to come over to put ADT cameras. I need to get my cameras in the house but I can't afford $1,800 or $2,200.

I thought that ADT had the lower pricing compared to other companies. A good technician that came out to get everything set up, they were offering $100 reward back. I just had an alarm panel, like the key fob that I could use. However, the appointment was so far off from the time. I had to wait all the way from 1st to September to get it set up. When I got it set up, the appointment was from 8 am to 9:00. The technician card closer to nine o'clock in the morning. I said, "Is there any way I can reschedule it for later in the day because I have to go to work?" I had a first thing in the morning meeting. He was like, "We'll call you."
When he called, he said, "I'll be there 15 minutes." I told my boss, "I'll leave because I have to go and take care of this stuff, and I'll be back." Thinking that giving them an hour or so that they can go ahead and do this easy set-up because it is an apartment on the first floor. I have so many windows here, and then two doors. The technician came and he's in training. When I started, they were going through the pricing. He was like, "Okay, your pricing's gonna be $330." I was thinking, "What? I just paid $100 just to have them come out. What do you mean 300? I have never paid that much for ADT." Then he was like, "We're gonna give you this glass break door thing. It's this little piece that we put in the middle of the hallway."
I was like, "Okay," Cause I got windows all the way to the back of my bedroom, and I'm paying almost $400. I've never paid this amount, but I've always had every window secure with little fobs on each one. If you were to open up the window, you would hear it, side window, front window. So I needed to get that. Then, I got that little glass break piece they put all the way down almost to the front room. My apartment is 1,275 square foot. Then, on top of that, they put the motion detector in the front room, and then I get a camera and an electronic panel.
I really expressed that I really enjoyed having the service with ADT because I like the fact they have a key fob. In case of emergency or anything, I can just hit that. Even walking up to the door, you can hit that panic thing. I didn't get any of that. Then, when they went to go set up the code for it, I had to rush them at this point because it was now almost two hours that they were there. I was leaving for work.
They were like, "It's really easy to set it up and just drill it in, and then do a couple of things." After that, they were programming the box. As they were programming the box, he told me, "Put this code in," and I put the code in for that little first starter code. Now, that same first starter code is the same code that I have to use to lock the system, not the code that I made up to use, the four-digit code. So then after that, I was like, "Okay, great, all that money." Then they said, "Oh, you'll also have to pay for your first month of service." That was going to be $60 on top of that $100 on top of that 330 on top of that $60.
When that contractor came back from his conference call and he was supposed to be with this guy who's only been in business for days, I was sitting there and listening to him say, "Okay. Are you sure...?" Without trying to undermine the new boy, to make him feel embarrassed or insignificant, I tried to say, "Okay, I just wanna make sure." He said, "You're getting the best deal." Then, he said, "Here's my phone number, and you can just call me if you have anything, if you need anything at all, and then I'd be the one to come out. Then, I also gave you an outdoor sign pole thing to put on your outdoor thing."
I never got the little email that said, "Congratulations for signing up for our service. So let's go ahead and get you to fill out the forms so we can go ahead and take two months so you can get your $100", which I already know 'cause I've done this so many times. I moved a lot. I'm in property management. I also had to call in because the chime thing, which goes ringing when you open up the door, didn't do any of that. It was quiet. So I had to ask the lady to help me to set it so that says front door. I also felt like I way overpaid. If I knew that I was gonna $500 almost for this service, I would not have gone with ADT again. Especially because, for that price, I could've gotten Vivint and gotten all kinds of different stuff.

We needed some security. ADT was the first people that I thought of 'cause I didn't know of anybody else at the time and that was who I was introduced to years ago. Their agent was great. However, when I initially talked to them on the phone, they gave me a quote of $58 a month. Then, they were saying that they would give me some promotion. But then, when they got there, the price just jumped up higher than what I expected. So it was a little misleading. But the person that I worked with was absolutely great. He was willing to go the extra mile. He gave me his personal phone number and said, "If you have any problems, call me, I'll come out personally."
He did the code, and it tells me when people open doors or close doors or when I leave. When somebody comes home, I'll know 'cause it'll show up on my phone. As far as whether it's a good protection, I feel like it's not really an alarm system. It's more of an alerter system because it only gives you signals of what's going on. I don't think it's connected to anything, like an alarm system. I also hope it won't further cost. Because they charge you by how many windows you have. They should just have it as a whole package. I don't think I would recommend ADT because there are other services that are a little clearer than ADT on what's going on as far as getting their service.

I saw a brochure, a flyer or a pamphlet that showed a special, which was the reason I chose ADT. The features in my package are sufficient for me. There were some technical difficulties during the installation and the installer had to do things manually. He couldn't connect with something that would download it all automatically, so he had to do things over the phone. It took quite a while to do the job but he was good. I need to call ADT because one of the sensors is coming off. It's right by the garage door opening. It must be the humidity. It's unsticking and I have to keep sticking it back on, and it blocks the door from closing if I don't. I'm moving so I haven't gotten around to it yet but I need to take care of that.

A lot of the neighbors have had ADT through the years. I just recently moved down here from Virginia and I'm new in the area, and I wanna be able to sleep at night and turn the lights out and be safe. I just got the occupancy permit yesterday and I'm waiting for a couple more things to be connected up. Then, I'll be moving probably on the 1st of October. The gentleman who came in was very nice. He gave me his number and told me to call him at home if I had any problems, which means a lot to me. I'm not gonna call him every night. I'd call ADT but that was so very thoughtful of him showing how much he put into the program that he believes in.
During the installation, I was out in the yard tilling, working and the place was empty. My sister and I were cleaning the house, and he did his thing. At the end, we three got together and just kinda yakked. I took notes and signed some paperwork. There was nothing bad about it and I felt very comfortable doing that. He went over everything with us and I told him that I'm not gonna remember it. He called the other day and he wanted to know if I had moved in yet. I said that I'm getting close and asked him if he would come out when I do and that we go over the system. I will tell him what I want it to do and then he can tell me if I do wrong. He said yes and that it was no problem. So, that's fine with me. I expect nothing but the best because of him. His boss came out later that afternoon and he was just as nice. His grandmother lives around the corner here and so it was like family.

I’ve been seeing ADT’s yard sign around and they were the first one who called me so I went with them. And their reps were very descriptive and knowledgeable on what the company has to offer. They made me know what I was getting into and tried to offer me more services that would have really been great, but I just wasn't in a place to purchase them.
However, when I talked to the people on the phone and paid the fee, they made it seem like I would get $850 of free equipment, which I did. But they did not explain that I had to pay $700 more when the people came out here to install it the next day. Luckily, I was able to pay that. But I don't know many people that can just drop that much money in two days. I just wish that whoever I talked to on the phone explained that to me. Other than that, my experience with ADT went well.

With ADT, we feel safe every night. We have a couple more things that we have to do to get the cameras on two of my doors, front door and back door. But I have to find an electrician to rewire my doorbell, and my doorbell doesn't work. As soon as we get that done, we'll get the cameras and that'll be really good. But everything's good. We set it and we hear it being set.
We've been in our house 10 years, and when we first moved in, we had ADT for a couple years. I really liked it. Then we turned it off because my daughter and her husband moved in in there. We felt protected with them. Now, they're gone. So, we went back to having ADT. $4,000 was the total to buy all the equipment. I will own it in four months. We got all the doors and the windows and the glass. Then we'll have the two cameras and the doorbell. The installation guy, Bryce, helped us and he was great. So, it was a positive experience.

ADT is a pretty well-known company. I have used them before. I know things have changed in the market, but I looked to see some of the different possibilities and just some research online. I talked to two or three different people when I called. It was good. I realized what they do is they give you free equipment. They say they don't charge you, but it's obviously built in to the price of the contract.
They have only a three-year contract. It would be nice if they had a shorter contract wherein they give you less free equipment. I am in a leased home. By the time I got it, it was only another year and nine months, but I had to do a three-year contract. Who knows where I might live in two years. I might not need an ADT system, but I had to pay for it. I wish they had a two-year contract option and less products to give or a bit higher price. But ultimately, you would pay for it no matter what anyway.
When I called them, the manager was a pretty tough sell. He's compelling, and he had a script. What sold me was the six different centers they have, immediate response, and their longevity. They were already rated number one. But it was a pretty hard sell. As I can understand, once they get you off the phone, they would probably lose a bunch of people. So, the goal is to get at least an agreement to come out. It is pretty hard. But I understand they have a percentage that they lose once somebody hangs up. I prefer to not have such a hard sell. I like when people give me information and let me make my decision without a lot of pressure.
The guy who came out here was super knowledgeable, went through all my options, and helped me find something that suited my needs. I could see why they do the hard sell to get him out there because at least the guy I worked with was really nice and not pressuring at all. They tell you the price for the every single option they can offer. And then they back off what you don't need. So, based on our conversation, he said, "Okay. Your full price is $7,000 worth of equipment.” Now, I know based on our conversation, “You don't need this, this and this. I'm gonna take this off." So then, we're down to $4,000. And then more conversation and then, "Okay. Let’s back this off and off and off." Overall, it was a good experience. I signed the contract and bought the equipment. I was pleased with everything from that point of view.

The ADT system is pretty intuitive and I like the different features it has. I also like the mobility of it with the app on the phone. The setup process was fairly simple. The decision to go with them came down to the price and the services they offered, as well as the long-term benefits of the warranty and so forth. But overall, I was a little bit disappointed when they were selling me the system. They weren't completely transparent with everything, as far as the costs that were associated with it. So when the tech arrived, there were some additional costs that I wasn't expecting, along with some monthly fees. Aside from that, the product itself was good.

I was looking into cameras, but cameras don't stop, just record. I went with ADT because if somebody's gonna break in, the alarm system can make it a short visit and try to keep them on the outside instead of just recording them.
The reps were very good and very professional. The installer who came out had a military background in security. He was very knowledgeable. He set it up fairly easy, made it simple, and explained everything pretty thorough. We got the digital version and then he showed how you can kinda bypass the motion sensors so you can stay at home and explained it to us. He also explained the interlocks on the windows and the glass breakage. So it came out very nice. We use the app quite a bit to arm and disarm it. But I didn't know that the deal was a little bit off, so we had to pay $100 in the beginning, even just for them to come in for the consultation. Still, we ended up going with ADT because I'm really busy at work and I don't have enough time. But if it was my husband, he wouldn't have gone with ADT. There are many competing companies, especially in my area, and one other company has a security guard running around the block to watch all the homes. Everybody's going with ACS here and we are the second home on the street to have ADT. My husband’s also not very happy with my choice because ADT's more expensive than ACS.
When the system was installed, the tech really looked into the best places that he could have put the equipment, especially the external cameras. I didn't expect it to take the entire day, but it was a very long installation. He showed up exactly at 8:00 and he left our home at 6:00. But our interaction was very good and towards the end, once everything was installed, he did a demonstration.
So far, my experience with ADT's system has been good but it's annoying not being able to set my camera to not send me a text whenever someone passes in front of it. I'm an engineer but I couldn't figure out how to turn it off. I tried to go on the website to change the setting, but I was not able to, and I hadn't had the time to call the center and ask them. I waited for three weeks and then I called back again and I talked to some girl. She said that there was no free gift card listed on my account. And she said that she had to do something and they'd go back and listen to the conversation. If the first rep didn't say that I'd get a free $100 dollar gift card, I wouldn't get it. Also, if I got some other free equipment, then they wouldn't give it to me because that would be considered the $100. I wasn't very happy about that. They shouldn’t advertise on TV that you'd get the $100 free gift card. I never got the email at that time, but they were late coming to set my equipment because I was sick. ADT came on a Saturday and I was waiting. The installer was late. So, it got late by the time we figured out what we wanted. He told us that he didn't have everything to install. He came back on that Thursday, was again late, and finished. Everything works good. All the doors and windows are covered so it's nice to have all that protection.

My parents have used ADT before and I've heard a lot about it. ADT offered a lot more for a better price compared to the others. Everyone was really nice. When I had questions or concerns, they weren't annoyed at my questions. They were always very eager to answer them and very professional. It took probably a couple of hours to install the system. But the guy who came out was very nice, professional and efficient. He explained really thoroughly what I was purchasing and educated me well so that I could make a good decision on what I wanted to do to protect my home.
The system has only been installed. Then after a couple of months, it's already turned off. When I got home from work, our keypad was completely out of power. So, I called customer service the following morning. There was no transformer or something in it. So someone is gonna have to come out again to make sure that they work. But I'm really happy with the window protectors and everything else. Their customer service has been good, too.

I had CPI before and I wanted to try a different one and I decided to go with ADT. Linda, the representative that I spoke to, was very kind. I liked her a lot. She was nice and patient, telling me all the different things and some of her experiences. During the installation, there was an intern and he was nice. I was trying to tell the main guy the different things that I wanted and he was still trying to push his agenda. So I didn't like that I was close to being done with ADT. It was mainly about getting the package that I wanted and paying what I wanted for all the things that the promotion said that I would have been able to get. I had the glass breaking monitor, which sounds like a good idea. I have the panel and the keychain thing where you can arm it or disarm it. The package that I got didn't allow for the smartphone app though. I was told that it deals with the surveillance so that would've brought it up to however much money.

I went with ADT for my security system. The guy who came to do the installation was pretty good. However, there were all kinds of back end issues with ADT's programs. What was probably a half-hour job turned into three hours because he was having difficulty reaching the different departments needed. This was one reason why ADT couldn't fulfill the total contract I had with them after five phone calls and many hours spent on the phone prior to installation.
So far, it has been a very frustrating experience that I would rather not go through again. I was offered a lot of free equipment but not necessarily enough to get the coverage I needed. Also, I got shorted on what I was promised and I'm not happy about the situation. I ended up going through and I currently have a contract with ADT for basic monitoring. I'm definitely not going to use ADT for any upgrades or to increase my coverage. They set me up with some pretty expensive options which I don't need and for those, I will just do self-monitoring.
Hello Ron. We are so sorry for this frustrating experience. Could you please provide further details on what you were shorted on? We'd be happy to review with the installing company you acquired your services through to have this addressed. Thank you. -Andrew

The setup of ADT was nice. The installation was good. The equipment was good, but it lasted only 24 hours. Three days later, I was off. When I came back, everything is shut down. I've been having problems since I got the service and I've been calling since. Somebody always tries to reach me back, but nobody ever did. I called them yesterday. They said it's because the camera system is discharged. They said, “Take it off the mount, then put it on the charger, charge it for like 10 hours,” which I did. They said put it back. "When you put it back, the door should be ringing." It hasn't rung since now. I wouldn't call it a good investment. It's very unsatisfactory. I'm not happy with it. I was hoping the response time would be a little quicker too.

I’ve had the ADT system installed for almost three weeks. The sales rep was great but I’m waiting for his boss to call me back. He’s supposed to be letting me know about my $100 gift card and also, he's supposed to be taking some money off my next couple of bills because they messed up the wall. The installation was great too except where you plug it in. It's not a normal wall but there was a little piece broken. So, his boss called and said he would remedy that by taking some money off the next couple of months. That was what we agreed upon but I haven't heard back from him. I texted him and he told me he was on a conference call. It's starting to tick me off because he's not responsive.
I’m not happy with the whole thing. The technician was okay but when I called initially to have it set up, people promised me all this stuff. Then when he got here, he said they were a third party and they promise things that they don't do. I said that was not my problem. If they can't communicate with their third-party people, that's not the customer's problem. I was told this and this, and that's what I expect. Everything that I was told didn't happen. I don't want the technician to be faulted for any of this though because he was here for a long time and he did a good job. Everybody else involved is the problem, and that is his boss and the people that I initially talked to.

I have been here almost five years and I already had the system in my house but I never had it activated. When the installer came out, he was very nice. If there is a glass break or a movement in the home, the alarm will go off. Then, you could push the “Stay” or “Stay Away” if you leave your home. ADT was very good all the way around.

The whole process was great. The only problem we had with the installation was that the little sensor that goes on the door going out to the garage kept coming apart. I had to take the old tape off that they used and go buy some to put on it to retape it. It’s two-sided tape. Then the door trim wouldn't set, so I sanded it down a little bit to give it a little better stick, then I put new tape on it and so far, it's doing good. I love it. They gave us two little remotes to use for whatever reason. When we downloaded the app so we could see what's going on outside without having to get up, we found out we could turn the alarm on and off on our cell phone. That is a cool feature 'cause it's Wi-Fi. So, if we're at Walmart and don't remember turning the alarm on, we can look at our phone and see if it's armed or disarmed. If it's not, we can arm it from there.

The sales representative explained to me how everything worked. It was a good experience. The features were something I was looking for, and for right now, they're good. The only problem I had was one of the ones for the vibration on my window broke off. The guy put it right at the bottom and it's three foot from the ground, which is a bad location. I have little girls and it was within my little daughters’ reach. He should have put it at the top of the windows like the rest of them. When we closed the blind, it broke off and I barely touched it. I called to see if they can repair it, but no one has returned my call. I've been having trouble trying to get a hold of ADT.
I also got a letter that says that my payment is due October 5th, but then yesterday, I got an email from ADT that said it was due yesterday. I tried logging online with my information and it says that it's the wrong password. When I log into my app, it lets me log in. I was trying to call them yesterday so I could pay my bill, but we're having trouble with that. It doesn't let me log on.
The previous homeowners had ADT installed in my house, so I continued it. I wanted to use them as well. Since I've had ADT, I could sleep at night. I feel more secured when I'm not home and I don't have any worries. I know I would get a call or if someone wants to break in. I got the ringer as well so that as soon as someone comes near, I'll know and I'll know who it is.

The installation of my ADT system was okay. I have one problem with the installer though. He put a hole in my wall for the installation, and then he didn't do anything with the cords coming from the outside to the inside. It's just dangling in the outlet. I'm not happy with that. He said I could put some comments. He suggested I purchase something to hide the line, but I don't know how to do that. It could've been neater. I didn't realize what he had done until after he finished. Then he put a detector somewhere else, so I'm a little bit unhappy with the installation. He has to put two sensors on. I didn't call him back. So, I was gonna plan to address that when he comes back.
Overall, I do like the system. I like that I can see in the inside and I like the fact that there are sensors on every door and the windows. At first, I had to move my microwave oven because the sensors are sensitive. It was tripping and I didn't understand why it was tripping it. But I found out what it was. So it's good. I like the cameras. They work. With the newer cameras, you can talk. I have ring cameras too. So, they work with my ring system. I'm thinking about getting another camera. I also do like the fact I can arm and disarm from my phone.

The price ended up double what they promised me and I ended up having to sign a contract for three years. The guy demonstrated the features in the system after he was done installing but in order to get the price, I was promised I needed to have a telephone line. That was not true. I came to find out that I don't need a phone line for the equipment that's installed.
He was also charging me $25 a month to use an app and to get a warranty on the equipment that should work. They're on their way out here this morning to take off the feature of using the app. I'm not paying $25 a month to use an app on my phone. It's ridiculous. I have 30 days to change the contract that's why they're coming out this morning to redo the contract. It really has been a nightmare and I am not happy at all.

Then, when I finally scheduled my second appointment and when the sales rep came out, some of the stuff that he was going over with me was a little different than what they had quoted me over the phone. But everything went fine with the installation. The guy had a lot of trouble system-wise, where he had to call in and get verification codes and stuff like that, so that took a little while. I spent a lot of time on the call with someone from ADT explaining the needs and going over stuff. The rep went over what I would be getting. Then when I scheduled for the person to come out and put the service in the house, I was really unhappy because he comes in just like a salesperson again. I had to go from the very beginning of telling them what I wanted, although I spent over an hour with ADT on the phone already. He refused to look at the notes to see what the first person said that she was giving me in the package. This guy was there for hours. It was night. It was at 9 o'clock at night and I was so tired. I was just getting madder and madder. So I ended up getting less than I would have if they would have just followed through from my initial conversation.
When the guy left, I realized that didn't leave any booklets explaining the system. We got the life alert and the guy explained it to me, but my mom wasn't there. So I texted him and asked for documentation that my mom could read to know how to use the key fob. He said that he would drop it off the house but he never did. That was two weeks ago. It's really irritating and I'm not happy with ADT. I would cancel the service. But there's some kind of penalty that I have to pay if I do.

This is my first time owning my home and doing security. ADT was a name I heard of and it’s been around for a while. So, it was worth calling and seeing what they had to offer. The rep was perfect. He’s the kind of guy that I wouldn't mind in my house with my wife there by herself. He was an excellent dude. He knew what he was doing. He was very clean and professional with adding things. When I moved in, I had about 10 cameras around my house that I thought was cool but I also noticed that some of it had these wires. They were sticking out my wall.
When the guy walked in, he said that what was done was very unprofessional. He said that I wouldn't see any of his wires. I’m an electrician. So, an electrician watching somebody else do similar things that I do, I was very impressed with his work. I’m in the field. I know what it takes and he seemed professional. I like him. I’m just getting used to the ADT control app. I had some smart switches and other smart things in there that he walked me through on how to program. So, he went over and beyond with explaining and making sure I was comfortable with my new equipment.
When he did my door, we put on an automated one that I could not lock from the keypad. He didn’t have another one on him to replace it. We were supposed to redo that but my timing and his timing to go back didn’t line up. He went back to Utah or wherever he was from without stopping by. It’s not his fault. He had some phone calls at my house and I knew he was busy. He could have come back the next day but I was busy that day. So, I was gonna have to call ADT eventually on that note.

We have been with ADT probably when they first started. My husband and I have been married 31 years. I had ADT before I met him and he had ADT before he met me. We've always used them but there was a hiccup that we had and we stepped away from them for about two years. We stopped it and then, we came back to ADT. We called to change to PG&E and somehow, ADT got on the phone. I was charged $106 for the initial coming out.
We had two cameras in Sanger, California. We left them because they told us that we couldn’t take anything down. We had to leave it with the home. We got here in Sacramento, California and ADT said that we were gonna have an $850 credit and get back what we had when we left Sanger. I said that I wanted the Doorbell Ring security camera. I could not do that because they said we had two doorbells. They coulda put it on one doorbell. We purchased this home but we don't know who put the two doorbells in and how they were wired. So, I said that I understood and we went with the camera. I walked outside a few days later and there was one camera out there so, I'm a little disappointed. But I'm disappointed at myself because I wasn't proactive and followed up on it. I have to accept that.
When the installer put the sensor devices up, they started falling off the walls and the doorframes. But since then, another gentleman had come out and redid everything. They said that they were gonna give me a $20 credit but I didn't see any $20 credit on this next upcoming bill. It's not about the money but we did not get what we had. It wasn't the individual that was in our home. I would give them high scores on their professionalism. It was the company. Also, I never got to stay with one person. I’m talking to the rep one one week and then, I would end up talking with somebody else the next week. Then, they have these outside vendors that they said are installers or they got this package deal. It was a couple of them that called talking about they're ADT. And I said that they were not ADT. They were an outside vendor that was authorized to represent ADT.
I called about a week and a half ago and said that I still haven't seen the $100 gift card. They said that they we're gonna send me a website so I could get on there and fill out the paperwork. I checked Monday night and I still haven't received an email for the link to get the gift card. I complained and nobody wants to do anything about what was promised to me. They also did not deliver the product that they said that they would.

ADT had the best deal and we had them before. We got an alarm system through them for two or three years because we had a neighbor that was a burglar. But then, that neighbor moved so we cancelled the alarm service. A few years later, my husband died and I wanted a security system so I would sleep better at night.
Josiah, the rep who came on behalf of ADT, was marvelous. He understood what I wanted immediately. I didn't have to try and explain things to him. He helped me made decisions about what equipment to use and where. The sales visit and installation went smoothly. He wore a mask the whole time and either put coverings on his feet or took his shoes off. He showed me what I needed to know about the system and how to work the keypad and the fob. There are other things that the system does that I wouldn't have been able to absorb at the time as everything was too new and Josiah dumbed things down just the right amount for me. ADT is a very good system. It's just the way things are being managed and offered. When I started the process, I spoke to an agent. I told him I wanted to try the system out and put it in for my house 'cause I just bought the house. He told me that they were offering $800, and without even me asking, he said that he would pass me over to his supervisor. The supervisor jumped on the phone and said that he would give me an extra $600 on equipment. Everything was going fine. Then they told me that to save me the offer, I need to make a $100 payment and that they'll reimburse me for it. They'd send me a Visa card, which I was later explained that I have to have 30 days of service with them so that they could send out that Visa. Then they said that the technician would come over to my house, go over the program with me, and the installation. They also told me that the doorbell was included.
When the technician was here, he offered me a big equipment package. It was pretty expensive and out of my possibilities. I said that I couldn't pay that and he should go ahead and start taking things out. Then all of a sudden, he said that he'll do the doorbell and the camera and I have to pay upfront in order to get the doorbell installed 'cause it has to get encrypted. I was never told that. They just said that they were gonna give the doorbell to me for free. I just told him to give me the doorbell and don't give me the camera. He said that even if I get the doorbell, I still have to pay $300 to get it encrypted. I said that I'm gonna just look for other options.
The technician stepped out, called the supervisor, and came back. His supervisor said that he could give me the two cameras, one for the front, one for the back, and the doorbell. I just have to pay the $300 'cause there's no way they could avoid that, but rest assured, they'll reimburse me that amount. I didn't know how my first month was gonna be with this and I didn't plan on wasting any money especially not $300. He said that they'll have the money reimbursed. He passed me over to his supervisor and also said that. I asked if he was sure about it and he said yes. So, we processed the payment, he did the setup.
After the setup, we called to get that money reimbursed. They reimbursed $240. I said that I will just take that $60 hit. The technician was done and then he told me that the next day would be my payment. So, I just didn't take a $60 hit. Now, they're gonna take another $60 out of my account. If he would have told me since the beginning, I could've taken my decision from there. I would recommend ADT when it comes to the system. But I would tell others my experience and then they could go based off of that.

But it never was mentioned that when the technician comes out, they do another reprice of the equipment that you're getting. So, I was led to believe that it wouldn't be as much. ADT offered a couple more items for the same price as the other provider that I checked. It was excellent dealing with Ruben, the ADT rep. He answered my questions pretty good. And it was right in the middle when I said I didn't wanna decide right now and I wanted to check with the other provider. He said that there was no problem. He went had lunch and I went and checked with the company. When he came back, I decided to go with ADT.
We're having trouble with the system. The doorbell camera is not working. So we're gonna replace it with a camera up above. Apparently, it's the type of camera that can't be in the sun too much and it doesn't work. So we're going with the camera instead of a doorbell camera. Also, ADT was supposed to give a Visa card $100. But I haven't received it. It's a pain to get it. You have to print out this thing, fill it out, print out the two contracts or the first two sheets of the contract and then mail somewhere to Florida. It was not worth 100 bucks to go through all that hassle.

The system definitely works. My dog hit the shocks on accident, and they went off. They work. We were taking a walk a mile down the road and we heard it. We're very satisfied.

I had heard about ADT for years and I thought it would be a positive experience but I had a very negative situation with them. I was quoted and I would get all this equipment for free and then I would pay by the month. The guy came out and started walking around the house and said that I also needed this and that. He had the bill up to $5,000 and I said no. That was deceiving. I thought about it and he put the stuff in and he showed me how to use it. I'm not technical and I said that I needed to write it down. He said it was in the book and I told him that I work better writing things down and then I learn better that way. He left and I had a sour taste in my mouth. I was thinking that I only expected to be paying the monthly payment, which was $64 for monitoring, then it was jacked up to $5,000 with all this stuff that I didn't need. It's a very small house. I thought about it and got a gut feeling that something was not right.
ADT has a three-day window where you can cancel and I did it. I had it installed September 3rd and I had it removed September 4th. I sent the fax when I called them. That was horrendous because I called to make sure that they had gotten it and it went to the wrong department. It was a nightmare but everything has been resolved. I got my money back although I had to get the help of my bank in order to do that. The installer was very nice but he dilly dallied a little bit too long. He was looking on the phone at engagement rings for his fiancée. And the guy who came back to uninstall it was trying to convince me and re-talk me into keeping it but I told him no. He was getting a little pushy and that turned me off.

When I purchased the HughesNet satellite, there was some promotion they were working with ADT. They transferred me over and I set it up. The sales agent was awesome. There was a little hiccup with ADT’s network where the installer couldn't finish the install on the first day. But he came back as soon as he could and took care of everything. He also got me more equipment than I thought I was able to get. So, very good. I wanted the doorbell camera and some cameras but that was more money than what was allotted because I couldn't pay anything out of pocket.
We are still on our 30-day getting to know it thing. My kids have accidentally triggered the alarm a few times and I haven't gotten a call so I still haven't been able to test any of that. But as far as ease of use and turning on and off with the app, everything seems to work fine. My kids love the system because it's a brand new house and we're out in the woods. When he came in, he tried to upsell me to a $4,000 package, which I didn't appreciate. Also, some of the features that I thought ADT would have, they don't have. And Comcast has it. They've already got their sales numbers and they don't care. I run big companies so I know what I'm talking about. If it was a major deal, somebody would’ve called me immediately to ask what's going on. It’s documented in my notes saying that I got problems and no one's called me back. In fact, I’m calling the bank and try to figure out what I can do to stop them from taking my money out ‘cause that thing is totally misrepresented. I’m totally disappointed with ADT. Somebody should be fired already. I'm gonna put another system in two other places and there's no way that I would go with ADT.

The ADT rep that I spoke with over the phone was good. Everything was fine, except the technician who came out and installed stuff was not very knowledgeable at all. He told us a lot of information that wasn't right. He didn't know what he was talking about. It's been a headache because he didn't know what he was doing to begin with, and that kind of what caused the problem. He didn't know that we could have a certain panel that we asked him specifically. He didn't know how to operate the panel that he did give us. We didn't want the panel that looks like it's supposed to go into an auto shop or like a garage. We wanted the home-looking panel, which looks like for a house. Instead, we got the industrial-looking one. Had I known some things I know now, I probably wouldn't have chosen to go with ADT because it's been kind of a headache. I wish they just reduce the amount of time somebody has to come out here and redo things and reschedule.
ADT is well-known. I thought it was gonna be better service. The actual system operates better so far from what I'm able to tell, but some of the features are not the same as the company we had before, which I really kind of missed, like being able to arm the system a certain way. Maybe it'll take some getting used to or maybe the feature is there, and I just don't know about it. We'll see once they come in to install the residential-looking panel that we probably should have gotten from the beginning. Another thing is that he didn't give us the panel we were supposed to get, at least one touch panel. He gave us just a regular calculator-looking panel instead of the touch panel that was included in our little cost breakdown that we got.

Hello Heath. Thank you for reaching out and we apologize for this experience. ADT will contact our customers if the authorities advise us of an actual emergency/ break in. In regards to the alarm going off, we don't disarm / rese the system remotely. This would have to be done at the keypad or via your Pulse/ Control app otherwise the system will continue to go off when a certain point is triggered. ADT was a little bit less expensive for what I got. The technician that came out was a friendly guy who was trying to be as customer-oriented as possible given his role. His job is to get me to buy stuff, but I didn't feel like I was being strong-armed. One thing that was installed doesn't work, it's where I can open the garage and close it from my phone. That's a minor inconvenience. They'll come out and fix it again, it's just that I haven't had a chance to schedule it yet. But the equipment is pretty straightforward.
My major complaint about ADT is that it's hard to know before they come to our house exactly how much money we're starting at. So, everybody gives lots of monthly payments, but there's always a large amount of unknown upfront cost and that can make it difficult. I know that a lot of it depends on what we get, but even ballparking it as saying, starting here and going up from there, would be a useful thing to have. A lot of deals made about, “We’ll give you this much credit.” But it's hard to say how much that covers and if we went with the basic, what that would be. Other than that, they were a little bit easier to work with than some others.

We have Ring in our St. Petersburg home and it works fine.

The first time, I was not happy with ADT. And I might end up cancelling them again. The first time they came, I was looking for service, but I wasn’t going to make a decision. I just happened to be online. And online, you send your information, so people then may start calling. So, when the rep called, I told him to come into the home and set up and then give me an overview and give me an assessment of my home. But I wasn’t going to make a decision.
The person that came in was very knowledgeable. Everything went well. About a week later, I called to say yes. I asked them to send out the same rep. I only allotted like 15 minutes because I knew there wasn't much that he needed to do but just probably present his paper and then I could pay for it and be on my way. My husband had heart surgery, so I didn't have a lot of time. To my surprise, someone else showed up. They told me that the person that came to my house the first time doesn’t work for them. He works in the Wisconsin office. I live right on the border up to the north-end to Wisconsin.
So, the new rep came in and did an assessment, but he failed to do certain things. He was only supposed to do an assessment and leave. He got to the point where he called his manager several times. His manager got him to leave the panel in my home, which was the old panel. He also got him to put some door sensors up. What should’ve taken 15 minutes, I allotted 30 and it turned into an hour. He also didn't show me how to utilize the system. The only thing he said to me is like, “Your first bill will probably be a lot higher.” I said, “Well, no. It shouldn't be higher because I'm not gonna pay for something that I can't use.” So, the manager wanted me to agree for them to come back into my home within seven days. I told them, “No.” I was going out of town. My grandmother was having surgery, just a lot of stuff going on, then come back on the 27th."
I told them, “If it’s about payment, I'll go ahead and pay you.” I went ahead and paid my portion, which was like 1,100, and the rep left. Subsequently after that, I got several phone calls about what happened. I said, “Okay. Well, I don't even have the system set up in my house yet, so you can't call me about something.” The rep signed me up for automatic payment, so I got a bill in the mail and it said that I need to pay it because I was set up for automatic payments and that ADT had already taken their money. So, I had to call. I was trying to get my money back. I had to take myself off of automatic payments. I told them the card that I utilized to pay for my equipment is not my bill pay account. I get to make the decision on what card I want on file. I didn't agree for any cards to be put on file. That was something that the rep did, and I wasn't happy with that.
I did get one good phone call. A rep called me and she gave me like a $300 credit. So, I was happy about that. So, out of 1,100, I got 300 back. Then I got a phone call from ADT. The recording said that there were some documents that were done incorrectly. I need to contact them as soon as possible. And then also, maybe something will come in the mail. A week or so had passed, and nothing came in the mail. So, I called in and the rep said, “Well, you don't have an appointment set up. You need to finish.” I said, “I do have an appointment on the 27th.” He said, “No, there's no appointment set up.” We went back and forth.
He looked in the system and he saw, “Okay, well, you do have an appointment.” He said there was something else that was wrong. I can't even recall what he said was wrong because I couldn't understand. That was when I said, “This is really working my nerves. I keep getting these phone calls from you all about a system that I have in my home that hasn't even been properly installed, and here we are.” He kept talking over me. I told him, “You're not listening.” Every time I was speaking to him, he was saying, “You need to contact customer service for that or you need to contact the accounting department.”
Finally, I told him, “Right now, you know what, my problem is with you because you're talking over me. You're not listening to what I'm trying to tell you.” He hung up the phone on my face. So, then I called back, and maybe it rang back to him because the phone was hung up on my face again. So, by the third time when I called back, I was livid. I said, “I need to speak to a manager.” I spoke to the manager. The manager didn't say that they were sorry. I told the manager I wanted to cancel. I'm a veteran. I did 25 years active duty. I just wanted a security system. I don't have time for all the extra stuff. Also, when the rep stayed the extra time on my house, that made us late for the heart appointment.
Then I had a massage appointment for an hour, and these things are paid prior too because I have a membership. So, I had already paid for an hour and a half massage and an hour facial. I had to cancel that. So, that was $220 that I lost because I was going to be late, and you cannot be late. You have to call 24 hours in advance. So, I was mad about that too. I told the manager, “Look, I'm just gonna cancel. I don't have time for this.” She gave me the option to keep my appointment. “Can we all come to the home and get your equipment?” I said, “That’s fine with me.” When the rep showed up last Thursday, he was ready to do an installation. I explained to him, “Nope. That's not what you're here for.” So, this salesman tried to coerce me into getting the system. He said, “Did they offer you anything?” I said, “No, they didn’t. They just offered to give me my money back.”
He said, “Well, let me see what my manager can do. Please call this manager.” We talked on the phone. I explained everything to him. They decided to give me half off on everything, and only paid a certain amount for the system and I got some extra stuff. The rep installed the majority of stuff, and he gave me his cell phone number. I have not contacted him. He was supposed to contact me the next day to finish the install, which is that Friday. I gave him some leeway because I'm sure they probably have other appointments. But today is Wednesday. I have yet to hear from anyone. He told me that they're not gonna charge me for anything until my system is complete. However, no one has called me back to finish the install. I'm gonna go out of town again this weekend, so they can't finish the install.

The Wi-Fi gets installed tomorrow then I have to make an appointment again to have the ADT guy come back out and finish everything. But he did good for what he had to do, so far. I haven't been able to use the system too much because it's not really hooked up but I mess with the panel a little bit and that seems pretty easy and straightforward to use.
The reps were pretty good, originally, getting it set up. When I was on the phone, they were like, "What do you need for the house? You need this many cameras and this much equipment. You can get all this equipment installed for free." But when the ADT guy was there, he said I get a credit, but it doesn't cover all of the equipment. The process was smooth. The rep tried to teach me certain things about the equipment. It's up to four people or more that can get their own code and set it up which I actually kind of liked. I did one and my kids' father did one. We can have our own code and name. People are on different schedules and that always wakes someone up if someone is coming in and you're sleeping. Another feature is you can customize it where a certain sensor is on and another one is off. I'm still working on that one 'cause it's not working properly for me. But I like the system. Most alarm systems, I don't think you could customize them. The app is on my phone so I lay down on my bed and turn the alarm on. That's a perfect way to have access to it on your phone. Even if I forget to turn it on when I leave the house, I could still turn it on from a certain amount of distance.

ADT has been great. The service guy that came up and hooked it up was great. I'm learning something new every day. It overwhelms me. I didn't know that thing did all that, so I’m pretty amazed. Every time I play with it, I find some new feature on it. I'm very glad to have ADT. I had a car stolen out in the driveway about two and a half months ago and if I would’ve had this, I would have been able to bust the guys who did it. They’re still looking for the car now. I got ADT about a week or two after it happened.

ADT offered deals that Protect Your Home had and they were good. I went with them and the guy who put in my system was fantastic. However, they should advertise because I didn't know they have an alert device and it's cheaper than those from other providers. It's $30 a month for an alert device and it comes with the package I got.

From start to finish - ADT was scheduled to install July 6, 2019. Just moved in and a lot of activity going on in the house. A type of hacking of my phone, The Man In The Middle, intercepted the call making this appointment. Doorbell rang and there stood ADT - I thought. He went over everything, the end result, we thought we had the Pulse System, doorbell camera, smoke alarm, and motion sensors. After he was long gone, we realized he had installed a very old system and all that is available is an alarm if the door is opened. The doorbell camera worked for about a month and will not remain connected to the WIFI. Pulse is not available, will not connect because we do not have the proper equipment. I have called ADT and was told that I was stupid and did not know how to use the system.
Our home in Georgia was State of the Art; no problems using that one. I have tried before and after the deadline and I am told they will send out a technician but it is going to cost me. We have been taken advantage of, and basically do not have the proper protection. When the alarm goes off, which is on entry, no one ever calls and there is never a policeman. This is the most horrible excuse for a security system known to mankind. This is not a happy review but it is the truth.
Dear Consumer Affairs, if you are going to put your seal of approval on ADT and recommend them as a good provider - I am asking you to step in and help in this situation. We have spent thousands of dollars and we are not protected. With the crisis that our nation is going through, it is hard to lay down at night and feel safe. Thanking you, I am Respectfully Yours, Onna **.

1. ADT committed 5 doors and all windows (and also committed no additional charge for any device) but authorized vendor only installed 4 doors sensors and two motion sensors. When I called today, they said you had only $1000 equipment credit and we have already given you $1300 equipment. Remember, they just installed 4 door sensors and two motion detectors, one control panel and two keys. Now one of my door is unattended and they are saying I need to pay for the extra device. When I asked for the cost breakup, each motion sensors they told is more than 200$. The brand they have installed should not be more than $100. And they committed all equipment for free.
2. I subscribed for 27.99$/ monthly they are charging for 54.99$/ monthly. While calling ADT they kept me bouncing between ADT, ADT corporate and ADT authorized vendor. I still do not know what is the issue and how they are going to fix it.
3. Are you dealing with one ADT? NO.... You start your initial discussion with ADT sales representative, you end up with some authorized vendor. Vendor and ADT corporate is completely out of sync. ADT billing sent me a bill (with prorated value) but does not have the contract with them to review what I subscribed for. It is 14 days already and ADT team told that they do not have the contract document with them. They kept me sending back to ADT authorized dealer. ADT customer rep does not even know what are the services I have subscribed for!!
4. Do not fall in the trap of their 6 months money back guarantee. That is completely misleading. It is only for business and corporates. If you have to cancel, cancel it within 3 days (that also I am not sure you will be able to do, it is pretty much fake and decorative information not valid for you as a homeowner).
Question is why I am writing this feedback! It is just few hundreds $$ matter. It is not because of the $$ value. I am completely shocked and shattered with the gaps and lack of commitments from ADT. It is supposed to be USA's prime security service provider and I went by the brand name. I acknowledge I did mistake not valuing the feedbacks from other ADT users and the market research comparisons - I blindly went by the brand value. And that is what is making me so uncomfortable.
(A) ADT still do not have my contracts I signed with their authorized vendor. (B) I never knew neither. ADT never told me earlier that I have to deal with 3rd party vendors. (C) ADT do not know why they are charging me 54.99$/ monthly and what services I have subscribed for. (D) What they committed as part of free installation is not true. (E) 6 month money back guarantee for cancellation depends on the discretion of the authorized vendor and they do not care about what ADT committed you (it is completely two different organization altogether). (E) I have even asked for the penalty fees $$ value if I want to cancel my service today (all they said it will be 75% of your 36 months committed service charge - I asked can you give me $$ figure and they said they can only give if I am cancelling). By the way, I am just 13 days with their service and I am getting to know the dark and hidden sides of ADT. THEY ARE NOT TRANSPARENT.
I am feeling like I am in a fraud trap and I need to deal with it for next 36 months. I do not have options left out other than paying penalties to cancel the service or deal with it for next 36 months. I am so unhappy, I wish I should have listened and paid attention to other customer's feedbacks.

My in-laws have ADT that's why we chose them. The installation was great and everything's working pretty well. However, the advertising is very misleading for the system. It almost looks like it's trying to trick people. They advertise, "Get your security system and you get $900 value!" It kind of looked as if the hardware comes with the installation. That's meant to look like the hardware is free and you're just getting it installed. Then you pay $100 installation fee, which I'm fine with. Then there's a monthly fee. You think you have an idea of what the cost is, but when the installer came here, it ended up being $3,500, of which 900 got taken off. I found that really annoying and very misleading. It's quite a shock to have to shell out 2,500 extra. I would recommend it, but I would warn people about the cost.

The only problem I had was the person I spoke to initially, I told her I was leaving the country at a certain time, and I needed them to come before I left. She guaranteed me that the person would be here before I left, but it didn't happen. Overall, I'm not very satisfied, but not disappointed. The system has been good. I got ADT home security system installed about 2 month ago. First of all, I didn’t know that I wasn’t dealing directly with ADT but through an authorized dealer called Defenders. They only offered me one type of system and one type of cameras. At first I felt that I was getting a good deal and I was happy for a week until I started to noticed that the camera was not recording most of the activity happening in front of my house. I was never explained that the camera only records for 30 seconds and there’s a lapse time of 5 minutes between recording meaning, it doesn’t record for 5 minutes after each event and quality is pixelated. I talked to ADT about this and they sent a technician and charged me $25 for the service.
ADT technician informed that they didn’t offered me the better cameras and newer system and I was overcharged for the equipment since vendors can have their own prices. For three weeks I’ve been talking to ADT about trying to get me what I paid for or cancel my service but so far they just have me bouncing from place to place without any answers or help. Be careful when calling the numbers on flyers because they don’t belong to ADT directly. Instead those are from authorized vendors who can easily take advantage of your need to protect your house and your family.

I purchased a second home and I have ADT for my first home so I went with what I know. I had called AT&T to set up internet and they connected me with ADT. I had two people come out. The first guy worked for a local company that ADT purchased. He was terrible. He was more of a sales guy. He was unprofessional. I would not go back if he was my only person. I was not happy. He did a sloppy job. He took over as many of my outlets as he could. He dinged my wall to where I had to have it patched to be fixed. He ran cables up for cameras but through the middle of the wall instead of kinda keeping them in a corner so they're as out of sight as possible. He put sensors on my front door and the first time I opened my front door, it fell on me.
I had ADT come out a second time. ADT corporate came out and sent three guys out who were amazing. They redid everything and it was much better. I would absolutely recommend them again. It's a brand new home in a brand new development and they had a drywall guy come out and they patched up all the holes. I have camera access so I can view it on my phone. I had that with my initial alarm system that I have so that's handy. The difference between my new alarm and my old alarm is I can talk through the cameras which is a nice little feature. It's a second home so it's a convenience. The cameras with the first guy continued to cut out so they weren't usable. The second guy replaced one camera with a Ring-like doorbell and now the equipment works much better.

Somehow, it wasn't getting put on the books correctly. That's not a good way to impress a new customer if that's customer service. You can see in the phone calls that I've made and talking to supervisors that I was not a happy camper.
I also have a Shock that keeps going off. It's like somebody's breaking a window, but actually, nothing's going on. I've talked to Brandon last time when he was out there reinstalling the sensor, and I couldn't remember the number, but I know which one it is now. He had a lot to explain and he broke it down pretty simple and then left us with the information pamphlet. I told the young man that came to do the installation that when I signed up with Vivint, I was just paying for the monthly payments. I didn't have to pay for any of the equipment.
The cost of the equipment was quite a shocker and it wasn't what I was prepared to hear, but the young man was very nice. There's only so much these cameras can see and I don't know if there was a higher model that I could've chosen, but I couldn't get clear pictures of what I needed and wanted. At the time, I also explained to the technician what I wanted to be able to do and I felt like I asked the right questions. They answered all of them but once it was installed and I started looking at the video, things were not working out. I feel like I've invested in all this equipment and can't get what I want. I was supposed to be able to zoom in on the cameras but I can't zoom in enough to make out enough detail to get me any kind of evidence that I was trying to get.
Aside from that, my technician was not really experienced in doing installs. They had a two-hour window and he got here at 4:00. Then, it was almost 8 o'clock but he wasn't done yet. I told him that I couldn't do it past 8:00, so he came back the next Monday to finish it up. And we had difficulty, but part of it was the way my home was built. He wasn't able to mount the unit because apparently, he couldn't wire it to an outlet, so we have to have it just sitting here. I reacted to an email that ADT came with $99 for the equipment and you just pay the monthly fee. That seemed like a good deal to me. The initial service was very good. They answered questions well and told me what was included. They were very pleasant to work with. Unfortunately, the deal turned out not to be the case.
They said all the equipment would be $99 and that they were waiving all the other fees. I would pay somewhere between $29 and $59 per month thereafter on a two-year contract. Someone came to install the equipment. I said to the installer, "Jeez. What happened to the free equipment? I thought this was supposed to be free." But he said a lot of people got that idea but that was not the case. We discussed what they were going to do and the bid was $6,000. I said, "We can forget that. I’ll write off the hundred bucks. But you can go away." He said he would take out a few things and got it down to $1300, so I bought the system for that price.
I was getting the system installed in two houses. When the guy came for the second home, I knew what to expect. I told him I was not paying anything for the equipment and I wanted the cheapest rate I could get for the monthly fee because we rarely use that house. He installed the basics and there were no cameras. He did what I asked and I got what I expected. It was much better off on the second location. The installers in both cases were very nice and professional though.
When the system first came, the doorbell camera didn't work so their guy came back and fixed it. It said low battery. I kept getting and am still getting very regular texts and emails telling me that the low battery signal has been corrected. Instead of telling me that once and stopping, it goes on. I've gotten probably 20 texts and eight or nine emails over the course of the last four or five days. But this last bit was probably my fault because I've been out of town and I didn't have time to deal with it. I'll call them today. They're usually pretty responsive about coming out. We just bought a new house in Napa and sold the one that we had ADT installed in. My wife and I were coming back this weekend and questioning is we would want to put ADT in this new house. We both decided not to do it.

Then, they wouldn't even come out without me putting $100 on a credit card.
I'd never bought a security system before and I figured that was typical. Now that I've done a little bit more research, I could see that that's not what other companies are doing. There are companies out there that have up-front pricing and do not require a deposit to come and look at how many windows you have. If she would have even been able to ask how any windows I had and gave me a quote, my experience could've been better. But there was no up-front pricing and she just insisted that I trust them. She said that they'd come over there and they'd refund the money if I didn't want the service.
Once the guy was out here, it was a little bit different than what she was saying. He basically figured out how much I could spend, got enough equipment to spend up to that dollar amount, and didn't really protect my home. There were windows that were left unguarded which were vital windows. I was also very upset with how he behaved when he came over as far as his professionalism is concerned. It was not up to par with any type of professional behavior that I’m familiar with.
When I started calling them to cancel, I talked to five people and they were all looking at the same file but they couldn't see that I got out of the contract already. Every first person I talked to tried to rope me back into a contract and it was almost predatory as far as them not acknowledging my repeatedly saying that I tried to get out of this contract a day after. And nobody was admitting that they had received that call. The person that I said that to when I called would transfer and transfer me, then the phone went dead. I would call ADT and they would say that it was not their deal, that it was Protect Your Home's.
But when I called Protect Your Home, they said I should call ADT. I was getting transferred back and forth between all these companies and never really talking to the right person. Aside from that, half the time, I can't even get the customer service to be responsive to me. And these are the people are supposed to pick up the phone when my alarm goes off.
Ohio law gives me three days to end the contract and I called back on the first day. When they finally acknowledged that, they ended the contract on the 21st and told me they would call back by Tuesday or Wednesday. I waited until Friday, then I called back and they told me that my contract ended a week ago. The last time that I talked to ADT, they said I would be getting a refund. But clearly, all these customer service people from two different companies are doing the same thing as far as giving someone the runaround. And people who are even older than me wouldn’t have known what to do as far as trying to get out of a contract like that and they would have just been stuck with it.
This experience has been a nightmare for somebody who had been a victim of a crime and I'm very dissatisfied with ADT. I plan on talking to the Better Business Bureau and instead of going out and bashing ADT, I will make sure to leave them a Google review. It wasn't necessarily the system, it was the false representation by nearly every employee that I talked to. I’ve never dealt with a company with a more pervasive policy that was like a scam. I can't believe it's a company that I know, that it's not some up and coming company ripping people off. This is so far below what I would expect from any type of monthly subscription service. It was like they were going to get you signed up for this contract but you're not going to get out of this contract. Then, you're going to keep paying the company whether you like it or not. And I could not believe that was how ADT was set up in 2020. It was absolutely nuts.

So far, I've had a good experience with ADT. We made an appointment with them and their installer spent three or four hours at our place. He gave me all the service codes and explained to me how the system works. I also got the app on my phone. Everything went well. Currently, we're in a remodel process and when we finish with that, ADT will come back and put cameras in. I'm really happy with the company.

I'm not satisfied with ADT. It's almost like an upsell technique that they use. They promise you a lot and then they offer you everything, and then they take it all away at the end and give you less than promised. So, I have an alarm system, but I'm not satisfied. I got a normal deal I could get from anywhere else, so probably it's not the best equipment.

But we were supposed to be getting a $100 Visa gift card as a rebate back. But the way they had explained it, a person would be giving it to us when they came out to install. But when we asked him about it, he said that it would be mailed out to us. that was the last that we heard about it. We still haven't heard anything back about it.

ADT Billing wrongly charged $962.30 on August 14, 2020, without any explanation or notification. From June 9, 2020, to July 23, 2020, I have have been in contact with Micheal **, ADT Account Representative, and advised him that I am selling my home and relocating to NYC. I informed Mr. ** that I would be staying with my family 3-4 months, and later move into my new home and continue my security services with ADT. I was in constant contact with Mr. ** and other ADT Representatives, updating them with the closing date of my home, which eventually was July 23, 2020. As a courtesy, I left the new owners and real estate agent with Mr. **'s contact information to activate services for their new home. Mr. ** was aware of this and thanked me.
I contacted an ADT Representative on July 24th or 25th, informing him that the alarm system sent me alerts and reminded ADT again that I do not own the property effective July 23, 2020. On August 14, 2020, I noticed an ADT charged $962.30 without any explanation. I contacted ADT and spoke with Ms. **, ADT Representative. She claimed that a letter was sent on July 28, 2020, to **, which I no longer reside. To date, no document was received to my forwarding address. Also, Mr. ** and the other ADT Representatives never told me about an impending charge. Mr. ** shared that I am a long-time customer, and your credits will transfer to your new location. I have been an ADT customer since 2000 in NYC and 2009 in Hollywood, FL.
Ms. ** stated that she would escalate my complaint and requested that I do not file a "Dispute Charge" with my bank. She asked to allow her to resolve the issue. She contacted me on August 18, 2020, to inform me that the charge will be reversed as soon as I resume service, and I have up to 2 years. I asked to be documented and send me a letter stating as such. Ms. ** informed me that ADT would not send a letter. I responded, "You expected me to accept a verbal agreement after your organization withdrew money from my account with any notice or consideration?!" I told Ms. **, "It is 3:50 pm on August 18th. ADT has 24 hours to provide me a document of their promise. If I do not receive it, I will contact my bank to dispute the charge." Ms. ** responded, "I understand."
At 3:35 pm on August 19, 2020, I received a call from an ADT Representative claiming they we still working on the letter. I provided her with my new home and email addresses. I told her that ADT has 15 minutes before I move forward with my dispute to the bank. The representative understood. At 3:50 pm, I did not receive an email or call from ADT and moved forward to dispute the charge with my bank. As of August 22, 2020, I have not heard or received mail from ADT.
Hello Paul-- We're so sorry for your troubles! Cancellation of contract charges would generate and process regardless if someone communicated with us a promise that they will set up services with ADT at a later date. Upon actually setting up services and signing the new agreement, ADT's system would waive termination of contract charges from the old address. Please connect with our relocations department with any questions at 1 800 238 2727. Have a great day and stay safe!

ADT is the top. ADT is very well known. The pricing was not what they made it out to be over the phone. I thought that it was gonna be around less than $1 a day and it's actually costing me about $2 a day every month. Also, the install, I had no idea it was gonna be almost $1500 dollars. That was not very upfront and forthcoming. And that was with my $900 credit, so it would have been a lot more than that.
They told me over the phone that I would get the $850 credit and that it would be like $99 upfront for the installation fee, and then it was less than $1 a day for the monthly payment. When they came in, they gave me the quote. The guy who came gave us recommendations based on the layout of my home. That was just for the security on the windows and the doors that I wanted. It wasn't like I did anything extra or anything above and beyond where any normal person would get. It was extremely expensive, but I still got it. The system does what it's supposed to do. It works nicely. It's easy to use.

I wanted to upgrade the system and I was switching to ADT. Everything got set up properly. The guys from ADT were friendly and the person that came out was knowledgeable. He had a face mask on and he had his shoe covered. He showed me how to use the little lamp off and on from an app. I can plug it into anything. He also showed me how to use the keypad on the alarm system that I put up front and how to add and delete people. I also got cameras added. It feels great having this upgrade. My other alarm system was an old push pad alarm system and it ran off a battery.

We bought a house that had a very antiquated security system. We went with ADT and so far what we got meets our expectations. The gentleman who came for the installation was at our place for two or three hours. He had to go around to look at a lot of the old stuff in the house and he wanted to use a couple of wires. He had to sort all of that out but the installation went smoothly and worked fine. While we didn't go very fancy with ADT, we have our home protected.

It was just one day.

My experience with the sales rep of ADT was okay. They did everything pretty fine to me. The installer was good. He went over things if we didn't understand it. We asked him a question and he explained it to us. The service is pretty good for now 'cause I don't have an alarm 'cause we'll be home most of the time. When we leave or go somewhere, we'll just set it and we've had no problem with it. I'm happy with ADT.

The installation of our system with ADT appeared to go well. The alarm tripped once. The only problem we had is that the installer didn't do a really good job of gluing some of the sensors to wherever they put them. We got an alarm in the middle of the night. The sensor on the back door fell off. There was nobody in the house, so it's not like the door was opened and closed. ADT should tell their installation crew to do a little better job of sticking all the sensors up.
The only thing is we ended up going through one of ADT's affiliates. And when they advertise, they act like they're ADT. They told me the rates are the same, which I assume they are. This is a company that ADT is buying out. It's a little uncomfortable to a consumer when they call somebody who thinks it's ADT and it's really a third party. But this is a company, theoretically, that ADT has already bought, but because of COVID, they haven't completed the transaction totally.

I didn't have any confusion with putting the system on and off and I feel better having ADT. However, the installation was quite expensive. It was $1,200. They had to access my attic and it's not broken but the cover for the attic opening is damaged slightly. I have to paint it and it's to me an extra job. Also, I never received a $100 Visa gift certificate and it's already one month. I expect some compensation or some reparation. I have a friend who is going to install ADT in Sarasota. The installation team that came out was very professional and efficient. We're very happy with them. However, we've had a couple of challenges with the placement of some of our sensors because we have dogs. We were told that the position for the alarms should be where we can set the alarm for when we are away but then the dogs would not trigger the alarm. This was not the case. We had to set the alarm to function as if we are home because if we don't, the dogs would trigger it.

However, they didn't ensure that my camera was working properly. I don't even see what it sees on my screen. Plus, I can't talk to my children like I want to. Still, the tech left a little folder for me to call ADT if anything occurred. As the the camera I got costs $150, I should be able to talk to my kids since I have Wyze cameras in their rooms which cost $25. The children and I feel safe because I know I have ADT. I went online and read reviews and I looked at their websites, and then I called different companies and picked ADT because I thought they were the right one for us. When I called the 800 number, it did not go well because they asked for my date of birth and Social Security number. I freaked out and told them no and that it was none of their business. It turned out that they prequalify you before they go very far with the phone call, which I was not happy about. But I talked to a supervisor who explained that and I understand that but that was awfully early in the process to ask the question. If they get my mother's maiden name, then they can go to the bank. This is ridiculous. Also, they do a background check to make sure that you haven't had an ADT system before and owed money. She and I had a talk and we moved forward anyway. From then on, it was perfect. The guy who came out here was great.
Chris installed the system and he gave me his cell phone and said that I could call him if I had any questions That's great but I feel like I'm bothering him. So I called the 800 number for ADT with a question and it took 20 minutes to reach anybody. For a new install, they should give you a number that's good for 30 days. It should not be the same number that everybody who calls ADT wants to call. It would be a new customer service number.
The only thing I would do differently is I would give us a choice on the chime when you open the door because there's way too much music. It goes like biddledy-beep-beep-beep, and all I need is beep-beep. Since it's electronic, it would be nice if they gave you a couple of choices. It would also be nice if it would let me decide which keypads get all of that noise because we have four of them in the house and I really don't need it to be yelling, “Arm. Disarm. Leave.” except from the two that are near the doors. But I can control the volume. I can't cut it off, which is too bad that you can't take it all the way down to zero on each keypad. But I like that you can cut off the tone entirely so you can open and close doors if someone's asleep and I can go to my garage and not wake up people. You have to have your code but that's fine. Only the person with the code should be able to do that.

But I'm really frustrated with it because I don't know how to turn it off. The installer did it on the computer but I babysat that day, so I had a whole bunch of kids here. ADT reached out to me when I first got to the house and the experience was kinda rough in the beginning. How they presented themselves seemed like I was gonna be getting a bunch of $800 worth of free equipment and it was gonna cover much more than what I got. I thought I would get security cameras or at least one or two, but that wasn't in the package and I don't have that. I work with some guys who have Vivint and they have cameras. Compared with what I got from ADT, it was a little bit more of a better deal going with Vivint.
Before they came out, they said I just had to pay the security deposit or installation. I paid that but then when the guy came out, I ended up paying another 400 bucks on top of that. That was unexpected. I spoke with someone and they gave me some of my money back which I'm happy with. But initially, pretty much everything they installed on my doors had fallen down within the first two or three days of having it installed. I wasn't happy with that and they had to come back out and reinstall things.
