We had Xfinity at the old house and I could look at my stuff all the time. I was fine with what we had, but my husband wanted something different, that was why we went with ADT. The installation took quite a bit of time. They had to come back and move the camera because of how it was installed. At night, we couldn't see anything 'cause it needed to be turned a little bit. Then I keep getting a message that my doorbell battery is low, and then I'll get another message saying it's recharged. The person on the phone said that something was not connecting so they're sending somebody out. They were supposed to come today, but I had to reschedule 'cause I had something to do.

All in all, I'm not used to the system. It's not as accessible as what we had, so I gotta get used to that. I should probably do a little bit more research because I'd like to be able to go back yesterday at 4 o'clock and see what happened. The installer showed us how to go back and look, but at that time, we didn't have the previous day's images on my phone. Maybe I could do it on the computer, but on my phone, I could barely go back all day long. I guess the record stills or something. It may be something that I'm just not seeing yet how to do. But the really good part is that we're in a way better neighborhood. We don’t worry too much about a whole lot of stuff going on.

I liked ADT's promotion that gives like a $100 gift card. I kinda compared the rates and theirs is a reasonable rate with everything installed. Initially, on the phone, I decided to go with the lowest value plans. But then, when the technician came, he gave me this and that offers. So, I ended up installing everything and having the $60 plan. The system is so far, so good.

The sales rep was excellent and very nice. The package was explained very well. In the beginning, they said I’d be getting something more than what I was offered when finally it came to us but they said agents sometimes end up promising more than they can offer. I was told I'd be getting the camera along with the services I was getting for the price less than what I am paying now. But later on, they said, “No, we can’t give you a camera because that's not included in the package we have to offer to you.” I ended up not getting the camera and I just had to accept whatever was being offered. We’re not happy with the difference between what was offered and what was given.

I’ve had ADT before and I've never had a problem with it. I got it again and everything went fine with the installation of my ADT system. I use the smartphone app, and I like that I can see if my system’s on, then I can arm it. I can disarm it on my way home and I don’t have to wait until I get in the door right to the panel.

I had ADT when I used to live in New Jersey. I also asked my sister how their system was as far as living in Philadelphia. She said that they show up quick and if there was an alarm that went off, she never had a problem. I checked with a couple of other companies but decided to get something that I’m used to. Set up was okay, but there were a couple of things missing. We found out that we need a door camera and a motion on the inside. Then, they charged my wife when I thought I paid for everything. They also said that there was a card that they were supposed to give me which I haven’t received yet. Other than that, everything is fine so far.

It’s been a nightmare with ADT. I called in and ordered the system, and I called in a couple times to talk to them. I had a guy come out. He was gonna write me a quote and he never did. I called him several times and he never returned my phone calls. So, I just finally booked ADT to come out after we sat down. I talked to a gal on the phone and we went over pricing, the system and the options. I knew what I wanted because my house was being built. She quoted me everything. I left for my office and the guy got there that day to do the install. I was trying to do work from home, which just got done being constructed, while he was working. He was going over everything and I was not paying a ton of attention to everything. It turned out that the price that they quoted me on the phone was half the price of what they quoted me for when he actually got there.

ADT quoted me $50 for the key fob and he charged me 130 bucks for it. He overcharged me every item that I had installed and then, there were other items that I wanted. But at that point, I was so confused as to why the price was so much higher. I couldn't figure it out. So, I didn't get everything I wanted. The very next day, the camera stopped working. When the guy was there, he told me that if I had any issues, call him and he would come out and take care of it. He gave his cell phone number. So, I called him up and he came out. He said there must be some issue. Even though he was within five feet of my router, the camera was not working. So, he put a booster in there and said that it was all good and that I’m working again.

I got my paperwork and I was comparing apples to apples for my pricing. I called him up and asked what was going on with his pricing. He said that I'm an idiot and hung up on me and then blocked my phone number. I called ADT. They said they were gonna give me a credit. They gave me $250 off when they overcharged me by $1,300 dollars. But that's okay. I'm done with ADT. I want out of the system. Since that time, I've been on the phone with ADT 28 times. I spent 14 hours calling and on hold waiting. On top of that, I've had their service tech back out there another time because the camera quit working again. I went ahead and called and scheduled to have the other equipment that I wanted set up and added on to my system.

I wanted the door lock, the thermostat, the smoke detector and the water sensor added in. If I had to pay for them, I had to. They said they were gonna take care of them. They were not gonna raise my rates and they were gonna give those to me for free. Then they sent me the paperwork on it and there were all these install charges. I was told that Nebraska law requires that I have a locksmith come out there and do the lock. First of all, I'm not in the city limits of Omaha, which Omaha doesn't have that requirement. I'm rural Sarpy County, so there's no city ordinance that they're trying to tell me that covers it. On top of that, Nebraska does not have a law where you have to have a lock installed by a locksmith. I'm a criminal defense attorney. So, I might understand the law in the State of Nebraska just a hair better.

I've been told I was an idiot by several of their staff members there and that I didn't know what I was talking about even though I practice law in the State of Nebraska and they don't. So, I finally said that I didn't want the lock. I just want everything else because I was not gonna pay a locksmith to come out here to do a lock. I talked to their service tech when he was out doing the second repair on my camera. He showed me exactly what the lock was. So, I went and bought one and installed it myself. It's already in. It was a simple process and it took me all about 17 minutes including opening the box and throwing away the garbage, which they wanted to charge me over $100 for. I rekeyed it myself too. We've been on the phone and the phone rang less time than it took me to rekey that lock. I'm still waiting on this second install on those other three items because the soonest they could schedule me was next month.

When I got onto my ADT today, it said that my two control panels are gonna be taken out of service here. They're out of service and they're telling me that I don't know what I'm talking about. There are excuses all the time. I've been transferred back and forth between the two ADTs, North and South, that are both ADT so many times. It's ridiculous. Add on that I still have issues with the camera. It works sometimes but most of the time, it doesn't work.

I've had horrible customer service. This is my third time of having them out there and if this camera doesn't work, I'm canceling my service under the six-month guarantee. I had told everybody and their grandmother to avoid ADT. This has been by far the worst experience of my life with a security company. I will hire CPI and pay them twice as much money to come out and install a CPI security system in my house before I ever consider ADT again. I’m on a bunch of veteran’s groups and veteran’s sites and ADT is highly recommended on all those sites. I am tearing ADT down on every one of those groups and sites that I'm a member of.

I've worked with ADT for years in factories. I'm well aware of the services and systems that they provide. But I was looking for something to help protect our home and decided to go with ADT. The sales representative was really good to work with when he came and put the system in. He wasn't pushy. He tried to give us exactly what we were looking for. There were a couple of limitations but they weren't his fault. Everything worked fine and it's doing fine. It takes a little getting used to the system but we're doing well with it. I like the feature that you've got the app on the phone, that you can see what's going on. However, I'm trying to sign up for this $100 rebate and I can't find all the information I need. I don't know who to call to get it.

I had the ADT system around the 9th of September and it went really good. The tech showed me how to work everything and how I connect it to my phone. The system is good as far as when I’m away from home. I could just check it through my phone. I like that a lot. However, the camera isn’t taking anything. Somebody hit my parked car in front of my door but the camera wouldn’t rewind back where I could see the person who did it. And sometimes, when I look at my phone, it doesn’t connect. It cuts off and is just not working right. I called ADT once. They said they were gonna send someone out, but no one ever came out yet. I need someone to come check it out because if I’m away from home and I couldn’t rewind the camera back, I can’t see anything.

I needed a home security and I had CPI, but CPI doesn't cover Florida. I went with ADT and their rep was okay. I was a little disappointed because we talked about things on the phone, and then when the installer got here, everything was an upgrade. So, I was not extremely happy. He tried to upgrade my stuff that I had already talked with about the other guy. We talked about cameras. He said it's an upgrade, which in my opinion was not an upgrade because we had a conversation verbally about certain things that were gonna be included in my home package. I don't believe that they should come and say everything's an upgrade. What they tell you on the phone should be what they deliver and not make it an upgrade when they arrive. It was my understanding my ring doorbell was gonna be included in my package, come to find out it's $300 more. I was a little upset.

I had ADT once before in my other home and I was happy with this, so I went back. The only thing that stands out to me is that the young man that I talked to who was absolutely wonderful. I explained my situation. It's pretty scary right now. I'm disabled and I'm on Social Security, so I didn't have much money in my pocket. So, he helped me out. My down payment was $105. I was traveling down to Alabama to see my granddaughter, and I took it out as about some of my last paycheck from my job. 'Cause I retired in June. Because of the situation, he hit us right at the right time where we needed some security in the house, and so I took it.

However, he didn't tell me that once he got to the house, I was gonna have to pay additional money, so I didn't leave any money here. When I got off the plane in Alabama, my granddaughter was hysterical on the phone saying, "You didn't leave any money for us to pay him." I said, "I already paid it." The guy got on the phone, and he said, "No. You didn't.” I said, “But I did.” I said, "The guy I talked to told me it was $105 and that was it." He said, "No. You have to pay for the installation." That was a little bit disconcerting because that wasn't what I was told when I got it. Although he did help me out with the key fobs. That was wonderful.

But I also was told that I would get help if I'd fallen and I can't get up, which really is what I need because I fall all the time. I have a brain tumor and I have chronic vertigo, and I'm constantly in the hospital, so I need that. But I didn't get that. I didn't pay enough money for my thing, apparently. I'm not dissatisfied with ADT. I'm disappointed because, the gentleman who helped me get the package was wonderful, but he misled me. Another thing, when I had it at my old house, they had given me a sign to put in my front yard. We've got a scary situation going here and I didn't get any signs.

The representative I spoke with was very professional, and it looked like ADT had a good track record from ratings. The guy who installed the system was informative, and he helped me walk through everything and explained everything to me. Everything was set up good. All the windows on the first floor are all secure. They have the little sensors on them, the doors, and the different stay and home-away modes, I like it. There's the motion detector if we're not home too. We have a cat that is staying in the house and the guy explained to me how if we ever get a bigger animal, they have a different sensor for it so the cat doesn't set it off. The best part about ADT is the smartphone app. I use it all the time, usually when I'm setting it at night or when I'm leaving in the morning. It's very easy to do from the bed or anything like that.

From the first day, when I received the paperwork at home, there was a number that was said to call, so I called that. Based on the subscription that came on the paperwork, everything included, was like 27.99 a month. I spoke with this guy who took my card information, $100 registration fee from my understanding. Then he said a technician’s gonna come to my house to install the equipment. We settled that and then the technician came. I was in the middle of working. As he was about to get ready to install things, he said that my monthly payment would be 59.99. I told him to hold on and not install anything and that it was not what I was told over the phone. I also said that I have the paperwork they sent me in the mail. The good thing is, when I call, it was through my work call, so all the conversation is recorded when I spoke with the guy over the phone.

He said that he would call his manager and he stepped out. Then he came back and told me that the manager said they could do it for 36.99 but they couldn't put the camera. My whole entire point is the camera because of the area where I live. I don't need window sensors and door sensors. He made another call and came back again saying that the manager wanted to refund me $140 so I could buy my own camera then they would refund $100 for the Visa card that was on the contract on the paperwork that they sent me. I told him to go ahead and do it.

Now, I'm calling back and following up in both of them. They're pretty much fleeing. They don’t know what I'm talking about, all this craziness. It's been five days already that I'm in back and forth with them on the phone. Today, I was on the phone with them for an hour and a half, and I was transferred to seven different persons. I haven't even had the system for a month and it's been chaos. I finally told them that I needed them to cancel the contract. I don't wanna do any business with them. They're telling me that I have to pay a $1,000 fee, which I don't think so because I have the phone recorded, and I have the paper they sent me in the mail. So, I'm more than happy to take them to court if that's how we have to get this done. They're not reliable. They have no communication skills. Their customer service is awful.

ADT was a better way to go among the three estimates that I had. Then the guy came and he put the two cameras in. I wanted one in the front and the other one in the back. But my cameras aren't working. The gigabytes are not right on my computer and he did not say a word to me about it. He just went around and put them in. I didn't even know he was in my bedroom until I walked back and seen it was on the window. He was from a firm that sells ADT products and they come out and put the system in. Then instead of calling them for something, he never gave me telephone numbers. The number I had was to ADT.

I wanted a third camera and the repair guy from ADT came out and he was telling me that I had no gigabytes to put with the cameras. He was also trying to figure out how the first guy put the two cameras with the small gigabytes I had. I like the repair guy much better and he knows what he's doing. He explained more to me about the system and he explained what I could do and what I couldn't do. He was very thorough about what he was telling me. I would love this guy to go give a speech to anybody that wants ADT. He was so good to me and he talked to me right straight through. He checked everything out on the system.

The second repair guy said that I would have to get more gigabytes and told me how to do it. But I talked to another person that was strong in this and she said that was a bunch of hell. So I don't know what I have to do now to get more gigabytes. Now I'm wondering if the two gigabytes are gonna bring up both cameras or ADT has to come out and do something to them. I was very dissatisfied with the person that put it in. But I would recommend ADT only if I got them to put one camera in.

ADT's security system is monitored from outside the house and with them, I don't have to mess with stuff. When talked to their sales reps, the first one I talked to left me on hold for about 20 minutes, which irritated the hell out of me. But the second guy called back and I talked to him for a little bit. Things were fine and the installer, Chris, was wonderful. He did a great job for us and he was very efficient. He was very good about things and helped us out as far as making sure everything worked, so we liked him. I spent 32 years as a nuclear inspector, and he new stuff, so that was good.

But we were supposed to get a $100 prepaid MasterCard that we've never received. Also, we were told that had a free system. But when the guy showed up, he said that that only counts for nine items and since I have many windows and doors, the system really wasn't free. To me, it was a bit deceptive. If you're going to tell somebody that they got a free system for their house, you should make it free for the house. We ended up paying $2300 beyond the free part, which they said was $900. So it went from free to $2300 which, irritated the hell out of me. Despite that, the security system is fine. I got it for when I'm not home and I'm traveling. It's for my wife, to give her some sense of security, and the idea is to keep people outside. And the longer I can keep them out or the sooner I know that they're coming in, the better off I can be.

When I moved from overseas to here, I was looking for a security system. Then when I lived in Texas, I heard about ADT. When we came up here, moved to Virginia, I decided to go with ADT because it seemed reliable. They are rated number one the last time I checked. ADT has very good customer service and good sales. When the installation team came out here, they were very detailed, explained everything in layman's terms, easy to understand and allotted time to follow up with the questions. Excellent work.

We were shopping online and we told ADT that we wanted to get a quote or estimate. They called us back quickly to talk through their offers and specials. When they called us back, it was what I would call a typical 800 sales call center. It felt strange where I said what were gonna need and they said they could do it. That felt a little awkward because it felt like a typical sales type thing. Also, we kept asking over and over again how much is the monthly monitoring and the guy said it's 27.99. He told us a couple of times because we were pricing out some other competitors and they were around the $30 mark. Then, there was a $99 fee for them to come out, but we would get that money back if we decided not to go with ADT and if we did, we'd get a Visa card. That was very transparent.

When the installer, Shady, came out, he didn't have any of the information we gave the rep on the phone. The other thing that I thought was a huge disconnect was he never said anything about this $300 installation fee. My partner and I were actually kinda pissed off. We said we weren't gonna go with them. The other thing that was almost a deal breaker for us was we told the 800 guy we want one of those video doorbells and he said that's included in the package. He never told us, though, that the monitoring would be over $50, so we were really pissed off.

But Shady had some really good service recovery. He tried calling his local supervisor or manager. He said he's gonna give us the first two months free of monitoring, which I just got credited back on my credit card. Then starting October 4th, he did an actual paper contract that goes into play on October 5th where our price is gonna be is 27.99. He was a great guy. He was caught in the middle and he was trying to make us happy. If it weren't for Shady, we would not have gone with ADT.

We got installed around the 6th. We have one of those portable monitors. We have one attached to our wall and the other in the garage. But we have another monitor that's portable that we're having troubles with. It keeps saying it's looking for a signal and trying to pair, so I tried rebooting it. It was up on our third-floor bedroom and I brought it down to the kitchen in the first floor because I thought maybe it's too far away but there's something wrong with that monitor. I just sent a text to my installer saying there's something wrong with it.

The sales rep from ADT was great. He had a lot of information and answered all my questions. The installation was quick and the installers were clean. Also, they wore their masks. The camera doesn't work though. I had two people come out here twice and it worked while they were here. A day or two later, it stopped working again. The first time, the camera wasn’t connected to the internet extender. So, they did that and it worked for a couple of days. It stopped again and the rep came out here again and reconnected it. I'm sick of calling and I’m very dissatisfied. It was a horrible experience.

They were very straightforward with me as to what I needed for my home and what they recommended. A handful of days in, my camera stopped working at my door so I called them. They tried to have me reset it virtually and it didn't work. So, we called somebody out and then it randomly restarted a week later. It could have been a system malfunction. But it works now. The system is super easy to use. I can set and unset it from my bedroom, which is great. It was a new home so I needed to feel secure in a new environment. And I feel more secure with ADT.

I purchased a home so I decided to purchase home security. The first interaction with ADT wasn't good. I asked questions and the woman that I was speaking with didn't wanna answer any questions. She would brush off my questions and she was more concerned about getting the fee and the installation set up. I kept asking her questions because I've spoken with someone else and was trying to compare equipment and why were they giving me something that other companies weren't offering.

She just was not forthcoming and was not straightforward. It didn't feel like it was a good situation. She at one point just transferred me off to the automated system to collect the payment for the installation. The call wasn't working. At that point, I was agitated and I just hung up. But they called back and they followed up and everything was fine from that point on.

They had offered a credit. At that point, I wasn't really sold on it. Because I was like, "If they don't follow through, then my first impression was accurate." So I had a meeting with someone else prior to them coming out. It was already scheduled at that point in time. But I ended up going with ADT because of the sales representative that came out. He was very straightforward and knowledgeable.

The rep was wonderful. There was no nonsense about him. There was no, "I'm just trying to sell you this because whatever," like the first conversation. He took the time to explain things. He listened and wasn't pushy. He didn't say bad things about the other company like the previous representative that had come out earlier in the week, from the other company that I was speaking with. One thing I like with ADT is the app, the ability to set my alarm when I'm away from home, or to turn it off from my phone. That is wonderful.

ADT sounded like a good deal. The representative was a really cool guy. He was the one that came in and installed everything. I paid $1,600 for my system and he told me all the devices were absolutely free, and all I paid for was the monthly and just the installation fee, which turned out to be a complete lie. Come to find out that’s something that they usually do just to get people on board, which I think is pretty bad, but it is what it is.

The guy that came to install it walked me through how to handle it, how to change stuff, and how to explain it in easier terms to my wife, ‘cause she wasn't there at the time of install. He hooked it up. It was very easy and simple, but smart at the same time. I'm happy with what I have. It works great and I love being able to control it from my phone. I just think that the original way that it was given was a little bit skewed from what it really was.

They sold me on the job and put the installers in a bad situation because they had to come to my home and put a plan together. They had to inform me how everything was gonna go. The tech was very professional and I was happy with him. The tech ended up calling ADT management and he got the cost down from where it was gonna be. Even so, that wasn't what I was told by the rep. Before I had ADT on my old house, I had Vivint and their prices were really high and ADT was a little cheaper. They had very good customer service, too. I wish I got more features than what I got, but the features that I really want were too much for me to be able to afford plus put down a deposit. I can't get the full deal of the system because being it is a new house area, the internet service that we are only allowed to get at this moment is really not good. So, a lot of my stuff is failing. If I try to go on the camera when I'm away from home and look on the outside to make sure, I'm not getting any signals around here. At this point, I'm thinking about canceling it for now until I can see a better internet service out here. Other than that, I already know what situation I get them on. When the internet does want to kick in, my system works perfectly fine.

The system worked yesterday because my niece had grabbed my little panic controller and I didn't even know she had it and she hit it. The thing started going off. Then ADT called and I couldn't really remember the code. Then, as I talked to him, the sheriff pulled up. He wanted to see ID. It’s just safety precautions. I was like, “I get it. because if it was really an emergency, at least I know y'all gonna come.” They really came. It wasn't even five minutes. When I was with Vivint, it happened a lot of times. I have a house full of kids and if the alarm would go off, “Okay, state your name, blah blah.” But the police never came. But with ADT, they came yesterday.

I was a former customer of ADT at a different house. I was with them for 10 years then with a rival company for four years and now, we're back with ADT again. The salesperson did an excellent job of telling me what was available and how much it was gonna cost. That person helped me choose what was appropriate. I was very happy with that. The customer service has also been good.

But we had some problems with the installation. We ended up having to have a manager come out to finish up the installation because the installers found something that they had never found before. It had to do with the front door handle and they couldn't get it to work. The poor guy spent a lot of hours here into the evenings. It was two nights and I had to put a stop to it because he wasn't solving the problem.

The manager came around and I said, “I don't want you troubleshooting here. Why don't you go away and solve the problem and then come back and install the front door handle?” Unfortunately, they couldn't solve it so I don't have the door handle. That was a disappointment and we're still with keys. I'm not a technician or an engineer, but I believe it has something to do with interaction with Spectrum and incompatibility with the WiFi system. Also, we still have a couple of things unresolved. But I'm confident that we'll get it worked out.

It's a great idea that ADT has moved into the smart home business because that's where a lot of people are interested in. I'm very happy about that. But the education of the client, like of me, needs to be a little stronger. The practice is to install it and goodbye. I need some reinforcement. If they tell me once, maybe they have to tell me twice. Maybe the installer has the job of installing and the next day, someone comes around and tells the client, “This is how to use it.”

The ADT guy over the phone was good but a little misleading. He said that the system was just $99. Then when a rep gets here, he said that we had to get other stuff and it was $600 and 60 bucks a month for three years. It was quite a big difference from what the guy was saying over the phone. My wife said that the guy who came out made it seem like the $99 package was not really worth getting for the protection that we wanted. We got four doors and a motion sensor and a camera for 600 bucks and 60 bucks a month to monitor one camera. Those seem like an awful lot. I wanted to get the camera that would go outside. But the guy said that it was an extra $200.

I wish the guy would have been more honest and told us that we didn't need the touchscreen since we could do it all on our phone. He was just trying to make the sale and make some money. He sold us stuff that we didn't really need at the time 'cause we were new to this so we didn't know. We've had the system for a couple of weeks now and we've realized that we have never touched the touchscreen thing. Every time we turn the system on or turn it off, we use our phones, every time. At night time, we could turn the brightness down. So we should have just gotten the regular keyboard and probably saved ourselves some money instead of getting the fancy-schmancy touchscreen. We probably could have gotten a regular touchscreen and maybe another camera or something like that instead of this fancy touchscreen that we never even use.

After the whole system was installed, I literally went out and bought one of those Ring doorbells so I could have a camera outside. Now, I went and bought spotlights, motion detectors and I put all these stuff myself. Then the Ring doorbell through the Wi-Fi I already have so that's not costing me anything to monitor. It records everything. The people from ADT are very nice. But I almost felt like this was a waste of money. I like having the security and I do feel safer with the system. But the Ring doorbell doesn't notify the police or anything like that. So that's one feature that I can't take away from ADT. ADT also has all my doors covered. But because of the age of my house, they couldn't put anything on the windows 'cause I got the old school crank out windows in my house. If I could change anything, it would be to get rid of that touchscreen thing, give me the regular panel and put another camera outside.

We were moving in and we got all these phone calls. The person needed to let us know that we needed internet if we wanna add cameras. But because of what's going on in the economy, I had to do an extended installation. At the time of the service, which was the first week of September, it was very hard for me to get an internet servicer out to my home within seven days because they were backed up with everyone doing remote learning and people working at home.

As a new homeowner, I had to have everything is covered. I had to get a prepaid internet service, which I thought would suffice enough and it would hold me. I have a camera service that does live streaming but it's not downloading anything. It only works in the front of the house but not the rear. I was told, "You got $850 in credit. Let's run your credit. Oh, you got another 550." That's $1,400 in credit. I paid an extra $300 out of pocket for two cameras and only one works. Granted that the internet service is not the best but I was never told that if I wanted cameras, I should have to have internet. Instead I was told, "We're better than all the competitors because we use satellite. Everything’s satellite."

When the technician got here, he said, "Yeah, not the cameras." I feel like I wasted $300 on something that I'm not really using. Somebody's gonna have to come back out once I get a better quality of internet and renew all this again. Now, I have the prepaid internet. I'm still waiting for somebody to come and install something with more megabytes or whatever download data. I am not yet able to really enjoy the camera service.

The installer did what he was able to do but he said that I should have been told that I needed internet. He would have to come back out. And with the coronavirus and everything going on, it's tedious to have somebody keep coming back. I've already allocated time in my schedule just as the individual allocated time in theirs. With the extended installation, it has to get done within seven days. They should’ve been able to extend that for me. It's common courtesy.

I also lost $80 in credit. I wanted to get additional sensor upstairs. But because I didn't get it done during the first installation, which was the 3rd of September, I said I wanted to get it done within seven days. I had to pay out of pocket to get another sensor when I had credit leftover. I have a service and I'm not really using it to its ability. And I'm paying $69. There's a live feed but there's nothing being recorded and I can't play the app. Somebody cut my grass and I can't even look on the camera to see who did it to thank that neighbor. I really wanted a doorbell too but I wasn't able to get one.

Also, there was a document that I'm supposed to show to the home warranty insurance company and I get a discount. That was a perk. A lot of my neighbors have Xfinity and Vantage, which is the one with the orange going around the house. None of them were saying, "If you show this supporting document, you can give it to your homeowner's insurance to get a discount." I reached out to my homeowner's insurance and I was told of what document that was. But I don't have that. I would appreciate it if ADT could email or mail that to me.

It’s just I’m a senior and even though they gave me a real good deal, it’s still kinda high. I thought I was gonna be in the $30 to $40 range but I’m in the $50 something range. But it’s worth it. And they worked with me being an elder on a fixed income to make it more affordable. Right now, it’s not stressing me financially too much but at some point, I don’t know if I have to revisit it.

The system is a little too sensitive but other than that, it’s good. Anything that happens, they send a text or an email to let me know that there’s this movement or the alarm has been changed from arm to disarm or whatever. It’s doing its job. I use the phone feature mostly, with arm and disarm and all that. I just have to pay attention to remember to disarm when I come in the house. One time, I forgot and sirens and stuff went off. I started freaking out because it was a new experience but I was able to disarm it in a couple of seconds after I got in. I’m very satisfied with the program.

They said I had a $39 credit yet that I didn't use, which I didn't argue it because I tried to explain to them. The only thing they would give me was $1,100. I just felt like I was lied to on the sales side or they didn't know how much I was supposed to get.

The other thing I thought should've happened is when the installer was here. I did not get a copy of any of the paperwork and when I tried to fill out the $100 rebate card, which I still haven't been able to do, 'cause they didn't send the follow-up email on it. I didn't have my account number or any of that information so it took me three and a half hours of going through that robocall system to try to get ahold of somebody who could help. I finally got it taken care of, but I should've had that information from the get-go either via email or a written copy. Nonetheless, the installer was very knowledgeable and efficient. He also had on his facemask and gloves the whole time he was here. The features I got were the motion detectors in two rooms, two door alarms, and a breaking glass detector.

My car was broken into. It was parked in the driveway. When I called ADT, they promised me a camera for my driveway. That was what I really wanted. Then when I talked to the installer, he said that ADT gave me a free camera but it would cost $250 to install it. So they hooked us and then they let us down. The installation was okay. The system seems to be working before the guy left. But now, it is not working. We turned it on, left the house, and apparently was working fine. But when we came back, my husband and I just walked in and that was it. It didn't go off.

ADT's sales rep have all been very polite and tried to accommodate me. The installation was okay, too. But the system is still not working and their reps have been out here several times. The first time, there was a big mix up, so the tech left and only set up the two little door sensors. When he came back, he didn't show up until Friday afternoon and told me that he was running late, then I wanted to reschedule. I rescheduled for that Tuesday, so when they didn't show up at five o'clock on Tuesday, I called and they said it was a closed ticket. But I didn't have a camera at this point. We rescheduled again then I had somebody else come out here. Different people were in our house like until 10 o'clock at night and it still did not work.

So they left and the front camera still was not working. I had somebody come back out here and this was somebody from corporate. He changed it out and it worked for two seconds. As soon as he drove off, the camera stopped working again. He then came back, changed out the camera, and put a new one up. It worked while he was standing here with his computer and when I got back on it the following morning, it was out again saying they were not connected. So in the process of all this, I still don't have my doorbell camera and my doorbell is screwed up, sounds like it's got a short in it.

Dealing with them has been frustrating and at this point, I want to know if they're not going to be able to fix it and how to get out of that 36-month contract. Also, they told me that it would only cost between 27 and 57. So before I even had anything hooked up, they had a $67 charge come out of my account for ADT that I did not have yet. Then, I was told that it was going to be nothing out of pocket the day they came and I had to pay $400. And they didn't even install it day that I had to pay them for that. Then they said that my internet service wasn't good enough, so I've called twice and had my internet service up, which also raised that bill $50 because that's what they told me was wrong. But it's still not working and I'm $50 more in the whole.

I've heard about ADT a lot so I decided to try it. The sales representative was very professional. He explained the unit to me. He gave me the best advice. They went and evaluated the house and just mailed the package out. He had a person he was training and he let the guy do it. And what the guy didn't know, then he trained him to do it. He seemed like a very patient person so I thought that experience was very good.

The main difficulty that I'm having is logging on to the website and checking up my account. I can't get into it, so I never set that up. Then every time I open the door, the alarm goes off. If I go out the door, it disarms itself and I don't do anything. But when I come in and shut the door, it arms back up. That's the part I don't like because if I'm in here all day, if I have to run back out again, I constantly gotta run over to the panel and disarm myself and that's a little annoying. If I'm not here, and if someone is here, the alarm sensor will go off. Maybe it's me or I can go out without doing that. I like the idea that it alarms itself at night in case I forget.

The packages were super-duper. If you have a lot of money, you could do it. But I don't need all that stuff.

I do, however, need more equipment in here than I have at the present time but I'll have to wait a little bit more until I get some money so I can do that. The rep would have supplied it that at that moment if I wanted it, but I didn't. I had more things before but I didn't utilize them. So far, I've already ticked off the police department twice because I hit the wrong damn button. But now, the police and I are getting more familiar. Other than that, it's fine. I didn't want a third party. I wanted direct corporate ADT. When the tech came, it was awkward and uncomfortable for both of us because they weren't ADT. He was from Protect Your Home, which we ended up getting anyways because we were in a rush. I did not appreciate being lied to, but other than that, I haven't had issues yet so far. So I'm trying to be back in it and hopefully, that I can be able to keep it up this time with this amount of 57.99. Other than that, the guy that came and did the installation was really wonderful. He explained things to me really well and told me what I could get as well as what I couldn't get. ADT has a very good name and they’ve been around forever. I received a mailer that said that for 27.99 a month, I could have a service. I presently had Brinks and I was paying $41 a month. I'm 70 years old and my wife and I were on a fixed income. So, at $15 a month, that's almost $200 a year. We figured we'd go ahead and give ADT a call. When I called the operator, I explained to her that we had a system in and it was working great but we were looking to getting a $15 lower payment a month. She said okay and that they would come out. We have 17 door sensors, three motion sensors and two glass breaks. She said that if there was a problem with anything, they would swap it out. I told her to go ahead and send somebody out.

ADT called and set the appointment up for September 3rd. Shane, the guy who came out, was from Protect Your Home. I didn't realize that Protect Your Home and ADT were partners. I looked at the mailer and I saw ADT on there but then on the side, it said Protect Your Home. Shane came in and he was a young-looking guy. I asked him if he had been with the company long. He said he has been with them for almost three months. I said, "Oh boy." He tried to get everything set up. He got the sensors on but couldn't get the whole system going. He was here for a little over four hours and he said he had to go to another place. He had another appointment scheduled and he asked if could he come back. I said yes.

Shane came back on the 8th and he was trying to call in. He said he needed to get a signal from somewhere and he couldn't get through. He sat on the couch and he would call for so long and then they would disconnect. Then he would call again. After four hours, I told him that maybe he could come back. He said yes and that he would have to find out when he could come back. I said okay and just to make it soon because my system was down while he got his here and waiting to hook it up. He came back on the 10th. He was here for about four hours and he could not get it going again. He had all the sensors working but he was having trouble with the motion sensor and the glass break. The piece that he had to initiate the glass break wasn't loud enough. It didn't seem like it was as loud as the one that brings you. He said this was the first time that he was doing one that was already installed and he was just putting in the keypad.

After about five hours, I said that he was not able to get it and the mailer says that after six months, if they couldn't get it working correctly, I could get all my money back and they take their system. He disconnected it from the wall, took the two keypads, went out the door and went out to the driveway out to his car. I was watching him through the window. He made a phone call. He turned around and came back to the door and rang the doorbell. I opened up the door and he handed me the keypad and two key fobs. I asked what it was and he didn't say a word. He turned around, walked back to his car and left. I put the keypad on a chair and waited. I figured they were gonna go ahead and send out a manager. They didn't.

I got my bank statement and it showed that they took money out. I called ADT about it and they said that I was in the system. I said that I couldn’t be. The guy never hooked it up. I said that I never had the service and they said that I had it. I said that I do not have service and they could send anybody out here they want to. If I had the service, that would have been great. I could have saved a lot of money. The 27.99 wasn't correct. It was 36 something because you have to get QSP so that if there are any problems, the service tech will come out to your house and there's no charge on it.

I've called 25 different places and talked to all of these different people. I got the names written down. I would call up and talk to people, and the line would go dead and nobody would follow up. They never give you the last name. They said they're not allowed. I understand but I kept calling and nobody could help me nor could do anything about it. They said that if they disconnect the service, I would owe for 36 months. I don't know this Protect Your Home and that's obviously where the guy was from. I traced them down to Pittsburgh, which is about 60 miles from here.

A guy named Nick is the manager and that must be who he spoke to and to go ahead and turn around and bring that keypad back in to me. He's apparently in right outside of Pittsburgh, a place called Green Tree. I was gonna go back down there, maybe take a sign and say that the only time I was robbed, I was robbed by Protect Your Home ADT. I've never been robbed except for sticking a home security system in. It's the worst experience I have ever had with any company. It's so surprising because ADT is a very reputable name. I don't know this Protect Your Home and that's what the guy had on his shirt. So that's obviously where he's from. It's still Protect Your Home ADT Defender. They should be able to go ahead and get ahold of Nick and find out what's going on there.

My brother-in-law is an attorney in Pittsburgh and I'm about to go ahead and get ahold of him and see what can be done and call Better Business Bureau and the Attorney General. I'm a senior citizen and they figured they could rip this guy off and he would just go ahead and pay. It's supposed to be a home security system and they're robbing me. I'm gonna be contacting the Better Business Bureau. I'll be doing whatever I can but I'd like to see it handled before it got to that point. I’m extremely dissatisfied.

We needed a little more security within our home. We have two detached garages for two cars and we had been broken into years ago. So, I thought the security system might be another safety for us and that if someone did go in that back door again, it would set off an alarm. I let ADT's advertising sway my decision to go with them. During the sales process, the rep went through things very hurriedly and threw a lot at us in bulk, so I really didn't comprehend everything he said. But I thought at the time I was getting a basic understanding. The one thing I should’ve requested was that I need to see my full contract matches a couple of sheets of it.

He persuaded us to go with some motion detectors in the garages, thinking if someone went in, it would work that way. They’re more expensive and it wasn't a good idea because if a bird gets in there, it sets it off, and it's very common when you open your overhead door to drive your car. So that wasn't a good choice for us. As far as their initial informative meeting with any client, they should have told them there are some drawbacks that if you do put it in the garage and if a bird or squirrel got in and start moving around, it would set it off for you in the middle of the night. So we had them taken out and put in just the door sensors.

I thought we were all set but the system only worked first three days. The alarm went off on one of the garage doors and the panel box indicated, "Garage 2, door number.” That's the back garage door of this garage but there was nothing there. The panel box does not have the ability to go that many feet out and that's why it wasn't communicating, then it would communicate. They call it just an event. So we ended up taking them off the back doors and just having them on the front walk to the door in the garages.

We've had the tech here three times with some issues. My fee was supposed to be around 26.99 a month. But for an additional $10, I would waive all those tech calls. But my first bill was an extra $50. I called them about it and they said, "Well, every time the tech comes, and they've been there twice now, there's a $25 fee." I told the rep that was not fair. I haven't even had the service in 20 days and I've had two calls. I fought and they told me that they would waive the two fees because I was under 90 days. Lo and behold on Saturday, we had to have someone here again with a problem and that's gonna be another $25 charge that I'll have to fight when I get my bill.

I got my bill yesterday and it was $32 extra. So I called and they told me it was because I didn't pay all of it last month because of the two tech calls. I had to fight that battle again. I did tell the rep point blank that going with ADT was a bad choice. I wish I’d never done it. I wish I'd just gotten another dog. But the service now is working, and we've been okay since Saturday. It hasn't gone off. So we'll just see how it goes for the next 10 or 20 days. Hopefully, we're okay and everything's fixed finally.

But then the people I talked to after that were a little better. At the time I canceled it.

Still same issue with the system, but it wasn’t the way it went with the last woman than the first. I was notified prior to the second contractor getting there and once he got there, everything was done and made sure that everyone was safe in the house. He did a wonderful job. My son told me that ADT was the best. I like it. It gives me security and peace that I don't have to worry about anything when I leave home. It's just that when we tried to call them, we couldn't. They won't let us call them. Then in the contract, it says that the price is set for three years. My husband said that if they jack up the price, then that's gonna be more. But everything else is good. I'm glad I got ADT. I'm not scared about my home because they're taking really good care of us. They went out over and beyond in helping us. They treated us really well and they were professional. I appreciate that so much.

We had stopped using ADT and went with a different service. We weren’t happy so we ended up going back with ADT. More than likely they would be more cost-effective. The guys that came over here were great. However, I called and I had this ADT coupon thing that was in the mail and it said that all of this stuff was included, an outdoor camera and an indoor one. Even when I called the guy, he said all of my windows and doors would be covered at no extra cost. There were two additional window things that I needed so he did that.

In the coupon, it said that it also came with two motion detectors which I know to be true because when I had ADT before, I got the smoke alarm, the carbon monoxide detector, and two motion detectors. I didn't have any camera but I had all of my windows and doors taken care of. But when the gentlemen came here, they said that I didn't have enough credits on my account to get the motion detectors which I thought was odd. The only thing I got different was the outdoor camera but they said it was $250 extra.

I like the warranty and the product but I feel like the advertising is misleading. I was not happy with that but I know it's not their fault. They don't make the prices or do anything like that. I even talked to my husband and said, “I don't know if I wanna go through the hassle of canceling it and dealing with it because I feel like it's just gonna be a headache.” So, I feel like I'm stuck with something that isn't exactly what I wanted. At this point, it is what it is.

We just bought a house and my girlfriend wanted to get an alarm system. We got ADT since this was the only one that I had heard of. The installation went really well. The guy who came was awesome and super helpful. He was also wearing a mask and he was using hand sanitizer frequently while he was working on everything. I like the fact that I'm comfortable leaving the house because everything is monitored. I can activate and deactivate the system from anywhere using my phone which is pretty nice.

I had ADT in the past. I got them again. The reps I worked with were good. I just got a doorbell camera installed on Friday. For some reason, it's not working properly. I noticed it last night. I also notice that the camera is all scratched up. It looks like it was used. It doesn't look like a brand new camera. There's a lot of deep dings on it. So, someone is coming out on Monday. I wish someone could have come out sooner, but they only could come out Monday to swap it out and to find out why it's not working properly. We have no online connection.

I have had the worst experience ever thus far. First off, when I received the promotion in the mail, I called about it. The representatives transferred me to a sales manager to sell the promotion a little bit better, which they did. But come to find out, everything she mentioned was not true as far as the price of the promotion and the devices. I initially called for the touchscreen keypad along with the doorbell camera. When the sales representative came out, I had to settle for the basic system.

About a week later, I ended up getting in the phone with customer care. They reimbursed me like $200. So therefore I use that money along with $100 of my own money to purchase the equipment I wanted, the touchscreen keypad and the doorbell camera, which I just got last week. Everything worked out perfectly. Now, I'm having issues with the camera. When the tech left, it seemed to be working, but it's not working now. It's been a crazy experience. I have only had my system for about three weeks now.

We were ADT customers years ago. We switched but we weren't satisfied with who we switched to so we decided we wanted to come back to ADT. We had a good experience with our sales rep. They were able to help us walk through the plan that we needed. But there was a point where I didn't think she explained everything clearly about the package so when the tech came out, we weren't aware that for any of the additional things that we talked about, we would need to pay upfront. By the time the installer finished going over what we talked about with the rep, he was expecting almost a $700 downpayment or deposit. That kinda took us by surprise because I was going over my notes and I didn't recall the sales rep saying that we would have to pay anything upfront.

But the installer was able to work with us. His manager also called to get us, at least, into a system we were okay with. And at a later day, we'll add the things that we wanted. Other than that misunderstanding, the sales rep was very professional. I also really liked the technician that we got. He spent time explaining things to us, walking us through it, and making sure everything worked. My husband and I both were very satisfied with him and what he did. We have his name written down so that maybe we can request him when it's time for us to add the additional items that we want.

The company that did our house inspection are co-companies with one called Porch. They helped us with any resources that we needed and brought up ADT. The person from ADT who helped us did a really good job and answered any questions that we had. They had an idea of what would work here, but the guy who came out to the house knew what would work best in our house. The installer was very friendly, talkative, just a down-to-earth guy. He was very nice and could really keep a conversation going, so it was not awkward having a stranger in your house.

I really like having the app. It makes things easier. The only annoying thing is I get an email every time we log into it. I have to go through my emails, because otherwise, it will just be a bunch of unread emails. Having the keypad is nice if, for some reason, my phone dies or I just can't reach my phone at the time, so that's also a plus. I like the locks that they put on our door. It also has like a keypad. So, we have a few options on how to get into the house, if for some reason my phone was unavailable, and the key fob was unavailable. It's nice to have multiple options.

However, we've had some issues with one of the sensors on our door. We have three doorways to get into the house and our side door, it always reads as open. It never reads as it's closed or locked. And while I was away, while the system has been armed, it has gone off a few times when no one came in, no one tried to break in or anything. It goes off randomly. But overall, I've had a pretty good experience. ADT is everything that we are looking for with protecting our house.

It's nice to have the security there as a just in case. We feel a bit better having it.

I was looking for a security that was not going to be that expensive. I was calling and comparing prices. I was trying to get a security system from another company but ADT's number popped up. So I ended up with ADT. The little fellow was very nice and he was the reason I went with them in the end. But the way that ADT handled me was disturbing. It was like a bait-and-switch kind of situation.

I told ADT all the facts and put everything on the table. I even told them that I sell alarms myself for a company and they were too expensive for me. Once they explained the system to me, I told them that I wasn't willing to pay more than the 27.99 that they were advertising. So I wanted to see if I could agree with whatever I could get for that deal and we would schedule a date. The guy went and got his supervisor after I told him what the deal was. The supervisor came on and asked how many windows I had. I counted all the windows and it was about 17.

After we went back and forth, back and forth, the supervisor said that they would take care of it for no equipment charged and all I would have to pay was $100 and something as an activation fee. Then I would pay the 27.99 a month. I even repeated to him that I was gonna get all the equipment for $1,500. But I didn't have to pay anything to get started but this 100 and something dollar activation fee. Then I would be paying 27.99 a month. They confirmed that so I finally agreed. Then the supervisor said that he was gonna throw in a $100 gift card. I'm gonna wait and see if that comes but I guarantee you they have forgotten all about a gift card.

I called ADT back and they scheduled the appointment to send somebody out. While I was on the phone, they said that they would have to decide the system I wanted. I told them that I already chose what I wanted and I was just confirming all the facts that I got from the supervisor. And they said that they didn't know about that and that they would just have to see it. That didn't make sense to me since we had already done and agreed with the deal. All they had to do was to send an installer and put the system in. A couple of friends were telling me that it was a good deal.

The little fellow came here with all this new stuff and then he started looking and counting the windows again. I then asked him how much this would cost me. But he said that it would depend on which package I would choose. I told him the same thing. But in the end, he said that they had a problem with the 27.99 because I didn't have internet. I wasn't getting any smart stuff so I didn't know why I needed the internet. But he said that if I didn't have a phone in the house, then he would have to put something in that would make it 36.99 a month. And then with another plan, it was going up to 50 something dollars.

I told them that we didn't need to have that conversation. I'd be paying 27.99 just like I saw in that advertisement. I told them that from the beginning so they wouldn't waste their time and send these people over here. So, the guy said he would call his supervisor. So, they went through that used car salesman thing again with me. But I sat down patiently 'cause I already made up my mind what it was gonna be.

When the guy finally got ready to put in the equipment, he said that if they put in the 17 windows, they would have to charge me 300 and something dollars for the windows upstairs 'cause they were not gonna be able to do that for the $1,500 discount that they gave me. So I told him to just forget it. I didn't have to have the system. I didn't like them 'cause I didn't like liars. But the guy insisted that I needed the security on the property and kept telling me that I would need to choose a package. In the end, he said he would put in some of those things on the windows and he would this little thing that would make a sound when you open the door on the glass sliding door.

The guy didn't put any on any of the windows upstairs. But he put a sensor that would go off if anybody would come upstairs. But if they come through one of the windows up front, they won't even have to come by this sensor, so that isn't right. He said that I could pay the 300 or something dollars. I wasn't doing that. I just let him go on and do those things. I still don’t have the things on the windows where they can go up and down.

This is a three-year contract, 27 something dollars. What I will do is I will go back to put either my alarm for later on or I will call another company later on and let them come out and do the smart thing when I get the internet. I know that's more money, but I don't mind. I was just trying to be protected right now. I don't trust ADT but I'm here and I'll pay the bill on time. We won't have a problem.

ADT was a pretty popular alarm monitoring company. I got a sales rep from there who was thorough and knowledgeable. I told him why I was calling originally and he told me what I currently had as well as what he thought I needed. He knew the product and what I was looking for. Originally, he came in at a price that was kinda astronomical and he said that he figured I would choke at that price. I said, “This is what the other company I'm currently with was in the ballpark," and he put together a package that was better than what I was getting there. That's why I went with ADT. He was good. We got a camera system and I know who is coming to the house and who is dropping all packages. I know if anyone is in my backyard, coming in my front yard, or ringing my doorbell.

The installation was fine and was done relatively quickly for what I think they did. The installer went over the system with me. I had a silly little problem with it initially. But the guy came back that day or the next morning to help and figure it out. So far, the system is good. The only thing is with my other system, there was an external siren. With ADT, it just comes from the keypad so the other one was much louder and more startling if someone entered the house. I was looking to add an external feature whether it's in the house or outside to get that startling factor if someone breaks in rather than have them come in, let them get scared then run out.

But I called ADT to send me the information in a format where it could be sent by mail because I was having a problem. I also forgot my password which is four letters and I should’ve known that as well, but everything was done. It’s the first time I've ever had security and I know that ADT is pretty much number one. So, I feel that I’m very secure up there. I had a three to five-day trial to try to see how it works and it takes a while to time yourself. One time, I ran and disarmed it because I had to remember that my phone was still charging and I was walking out the door. I’d rather disarm it and arm it again than to have it go blaring. And I appreciate the fact that I can look at it from my phone. I just tap into it and I see my living room.

Other than that, I have a barn and the system was set up with the barn being protected. But on the first night, the thing went off and said, “Men running.” It means that somebody is around the barn. But that was not true. So, my tenant at the time had to take that off. But once I have tenants again, I'd still like to protect my investment. I've put a lot into that farm and it's beautiful.

A friend of mine told me about ADT. She told me that it was working well. I called and they said, “You pay $99 down then we will come out to the house and install the cameras.” I explained to them that I needed just the two cameras - one for the back and one for the front. They told me about the sensors. I said I'd take two for the front door and the back door. They said I would get the key ring with it. It's the key piece where if you're out there and you notice something, you can just press that and get the alarm off. I never got that.

The guy was polite and professional. He was on time and I’m satisfied with the work he did. But when he got here, I didn't understand that I had to come up with $300. Then instead of the $29.99 that they told me that I will be paying monthly, it’s $59.99. I was surprised with that ‘cause I’m on a fixed income. I was gonna call to find out if they can do anything cheaper than that. My friend has two cameras in her home. She has other things too like the key thing. All in all, she pays $20 per month. For just the two cameras and the sensors on the two doors, I should be paying less than that.

The first two to three weeks, it was working. Any time I heard the bell ring, I could just hit the app on my phone and I would see right away. It would pop up and tell me who was there. It would show me the person. But now, sometimes when I hit the app, it takes a long time to load. Sometimes, when it does load, instead of showing me clearly, it just shows black and white. Then it takes a while and it comes up right.

But we got another call later. We made arrangements for somebody to come out and give us a survey and that was Josiah. He did a good job. We never had a security system before so it's a little bit new to us. I thought one of the things we were gonna get was a video of anybody that came to the front door. To the best of my knowledge, I have not seen that yet. But we are still in the midst of moving and we haven't paid a whole lot of attention to it. We haven't read the manuals and the directions. The other day, I rushed out of the house without turning the alarm off and realized it a little too late, but I came back in and I turned it off. But then I got a call from ADT to make sure everything was okay. They were pleasant and professional.

I wanna be with a company that's been around for 150 years and everyone knows who ADT is. When thinking of home security, we think of ADT. When I reached out to them, I got more than what I was expecting, so it was a good deal. The installer was awesome. He knew exactly what was going on. He was updating me on everything. If there was a delay, he told me there'd be a delay. If there wasn't, he told there wouldn't be, because some parts were moving quicker than the others. He was also knowledgeable and did everything correctly. He also came with a face mask on the entire time.

Once he put the cameras up, he showed me how to use it and how to operate the motion detection zone. Once we put up the actual panel for the home security, he showed me how to change the code. He also showed me how to arm, disarm, and use the app. I feel like the panel is just more of a secondary, whereas the phone is one of the primary. It's a lot quicker to just log into my phone and hit arm stay or arm away than it is to go up to the panel, tap it, plug in a PIN, and then click it. As far as convenience, the phone's in my pocket, the panel's on the wall, so whichever one's closer, I'll utilize. With the system, I can always keep an eye on our neighbors at all times and look out at my home if I have any motion detection.

I called ADT and one other company, then ADT called back first. I was inquiring on the weekend so I kinda expected ADT to get back to me a little bit better. I'm familiar with the company. We have a house in Florida that has ADT protection on it. I also wanted to enter into a contract with a company that's gonna be around. Dakota was here twice. We had some issues with my Wi-Fi and with ADT’s servers being down the day that everything was installed. One of the cameras that he had wasn't working.

It was a two-day install. It gave me one day to play with things by myself. My system is a little bit more surveillance than security, so he showed me how to use the website, how to set up cameras and fields and different parameters, and answered any question that I didn't quite understand after the first day. So there was a benefit to having him in the house for two days. He was courteous and good at explaining things. He was prompt and came back like he said he would, and that's all appreciated.

I'm very pleased with ADT. The only caveat was we had a salesman come out to go over with the system that we wanted, but we weren't moving into the house yet and we didn't have WiFi yet, which didn't tell us. He came out and he priced out the whole system for us and he planned the whole thing out. Months later, we called back to have everything and for them to come back in and install it, and they had no idea what we had already planned out. So, it was a complete new sales call from the beginning.

It was a little frustrating because we're in the middle of trying to get situated and set up and I didn't have three hours on a Saturday to devote to this. I just thought they were coming and putting all the sensors in and that was it. The second salesman was wonderful, very knowledgeable and didn't push us too hard to do certain things. We went kind of on the lean side with the system because we wanted to try and see what our needs would be, and then go from there and see if we needed to add additional things. So far, it's working okay as far as what we need. We're great with the app. It's so easy to use.

You make a payment and then all this goes to you owning the system and you're able to move the system with you if you choose the move. It's self-explanatory. To put my system up, it took them two hours. It was quick and easy, and I didn't have any problem at all. The system adds up to my expectations of what I was needing and wanting, and it works well. The experience with ADT was nice but I would supposedly get $1,600 worth of equipment. When he came, he had $400 plans and I said that for $1,600 dollars, I would get three alarms for my three doors. He put two in there and that was it. He put two motion sensors in here and that was all he did. It wasn’t worth $1,600. I thought I was getting a video doorbell but he said he couldn't put it on because he needed electric. I thought it ran by battery and it was gonna be wireless. The installer put the equipment on the wall and then drilled. There were no wires but there had to be a wire that went through the wall. He put the module on the wall that you turn on and he plugged it in right down below. Then, I had to clean up the residue. He didn’t make any attempt to clean it up.

Everything's been great with ADT. The installation was fine. But where they put it was not okay. Originally, it was gonna be okay. We were gonna see about having it moved somewhere else because it's in a really awkward spot, but I'll just live with it. I liked their promotion that I heard on the radio and when I called, everything was all great and dandy. But then when the guy got here, it was a whole different set of things. So, I feel like it was a little blindsided and not completely upfront with what I was gonna be responsible for. When I called, the radio promotion was a $99 installation fee and you just pay for the service, and you get credit for equipment. When the guy got here, he said I need to make two payments of about $500, and we said, "No." He worked it down a little bit. We still ended up having to pay $400 extra. I don't think it was very upfront with that. Other than that, after having the system installed, I like the security and safety it gives me.

Also, the installation guy was telling us that for three days, it was gonna be like a test. Sometimes it's gonna work, sometimes it's not. I want to know if the test is over and that it is accurately working. Aside from these, we were supposed to receive a $100 reward card. We've had ADT before, which was how we knew about them. The sales was with the gentleman who came to install the system and we weren’t happy with what happened when they came. When I took the call and we wanted to get ADT, we were trying to save and keep it at a certain amount. The gentleman came here and he was also selling some other things and the installation was $99 so, it became $400. Plus, it went from $27 a month to $59 a month. Prior to all these, we wanted nothing to do with the $59 a month charge. They gave me a free camera but in giving me that, it became that you only could get the $59 charge. So, we didn't get the camera. We got the lowest and we almost canceled.

ADT should let people know whenever they give them something that they move them to a different price range. We wanted to add a camera and the salesman on the phone was nice enough to do that. On the phone, they said that it could be as cheap as $27 and if you get extras, it can be as much as $59. We didn't think we were anywhere near the $59 but once they give you that camera, you can't get any other package but that one, which made it a bad experience.

However, I don't see that kind of data.

The other day, I tried to set off the alarm in the basement. Our smoke detector went on and I let it ring for almost 10 minutes. But then nobody called me. I wondered if somebody was monitoring the system. 10 minutes is a long time and somebody should respond to that alarm. That is something I'm disappointed about.

The house is under renovation, which was why I wanted to make sure I had the security system in quickly. And during the course of the renovation, the people renovating broke the cord on the panel. When the installer came out to fix it, he was great about it. They did not charge me, which was a good thing. My overall experience was costly, but it was quick. It's called a garage door and it’s downstairs. I waited for ADT to call. No call. The alarm went off so long and quit. I finally found the number to ADT. I called them and the guy was telling me to wait and let him look up my account. I told him that whoever's breaking in, I'll tell them to wait until he finds my account. He said that they called me and there was no answer. I told him that I have my phone in my hand and I asked him what number they have for me. They had the number written and they had it wrong. They had 404 instead of 470, so they were actually calling the wrong number. I ended up having to call 911. I was so afraid. I didn't know what was going on downstairs. He said he called the police and they weren't here yet.

I know he had my number right because he called me as there was a problem getting a confirmation number after he had it installed because computers were down. We exchanged numbers and he said that if it comes back up, he'd come back and finish it up. He actually called me so I didn't understand how my number got wrong. Everybody's been very nice and everything was done correctly except for that. Mistakes happen and I'm afraid I gave the poor guy a hard time when I called because I was freaking out.

I have all the sensors in my doors hidden from my original install. Now, the new install has the ones that go in the outside where you can see it. Everything's wireless and I wasn't real thrilled with that. But the system is working. It's serving its purpose and it's been easy to use it. I've been a cop for 25 years. The rep put a plan together and made an installment plan. The features are pretty good. I can't wait to find out more on it. Unfortunately, I got to wait for about a month before that comes since the appointment would not be until October 22nd. But it was out of his control. They will add some more cameras inside and out, and then put more sensors on the windows, which we definitely won't, because we already have window sensors. But we will definitely add the cameras indoors. ADT offers good stuff.

They did a good job in matching me with my plan. When I hit the stay mode, it would count down like I'm leaving. It did that several times so I didn't do the stay mode anymore while I was at home. But it could've been resolved had I called them out. Overall, I feel pretty secure with the system. This morning, about 3:30, I was doing some work on my computer and I was checking emails, and the monitor saw something happening at a certain time. When my grandson went in and looked at it, it was a spider that came across the lens.

We had a new house and decided we wanted to have a security provider. The main thing why I decided to go with Protect Your Home was the in-the-country contact rather than a foreign country when I call. Also, the quality of the material and the fact that I had someone to install it rather than do it myself. I got a lot of good information from their reps and they answered all my questions. And the installer was really good. He explained things well and left me his number to contact. When I had problems and issues, I was able to get their support system fairly well. I have window breakage, window disturbance, window disconnect, and then the same with the doors. Also, I have a front door doorbell and the automatic unlock/lock system for the door. The smartphone app has been very helpful from day one. I know if anybody is at the front door no matter where I'm at.

He was nice. If I'd had a phone number that day, I'd have called them and gave him some credit for the way that he worked professionally. He installed everything the way it was supposed to be installed. He told us about some other features that we might be able to add on to what we've got. We have the cameras and motion detector installed. We have the window locks and the door, which lets us know which door is open. We just got back from vacation and everything worked fine.

I canceled the service though after I found one for a better price from another provider. The rep mentioned that there was gonna be $100 worth of equipment for free. In the end, the system ended up costing $900 for minimal equipment. I got two to three times the equipment including a camera for a lower price from another provider.

I go out and I look for what it is that I need. There was an advertisement that mentioned ADT and I'm familiar with them, which was why I reached out. It is nationwide and I've had it in the past. So in terms of the sales portion of it, they didn't have to do a whole lot of work because once I make up my mind in terms of the product that I want, that's what I go with. The young man who came out did things nice and neat, and to my standards. There wasn't a whole lot that he had to even reinforce, even though he went over everything and there were no issues with him setting up.

But I don't really like the way ADT conducts themselves with regard to forcing you into a decision there and then when I was told that someone was just coming around to give me a quote, not to say, "If you don't say yes today, you're not gonna get any discount." That annoyed me and nearly walked away from them. It came from the installation expert because he was the one there. But he told me that's what his manager told him. But other than that, the features are decent. This is the first time I haven't lived in a gated community. It feels safe because I now have got an alarm.

ADT has very friendly customer service. When I spoke with them, it was a good call. They helped. It was everything I expected. The installation was not as good as I expected it to be though. The installer demonstrated most of the features in the system, but he messed up one of my coffee tables with the sticky tape. He put the lamp on top of it like I wasn't supposed to see it. I had to bring a lamp from the bedroom, and he just moved it over. After he left, I found it when I put the lamp back up. I was a little disappointed with that because it's my new table.

I was upset with the positioning of the door monitors because on my door frame, it has grooves. So, the front door monitors started falling down the first week. I had to call somebody else back out. They said based on the way my frame is, they should have screwed it in instead of just the tape, because it would not have stayed regardless. I actually called the service professional who came out, and he never called me back. There was also a bracket that he took off the door and he never put back on. It was on the front door handle. So I have to, now, get that put back on. As far as the products, I got the doorbell camera. I got the lock down feature where it locks the doors. I got the window protection for shattered glass and motion protectors. So far, all of it works really good. I got the chimes that I like when you open and close the door. I like that.

The techs were nice. The guy that came at first was very knowledgeable, patient, informative, and wonderful. I set off my alarm once and I didn't know what I did, but I couldn't get my panel to reset. When I locked up the panel, I called that night because I was hoping to get it straightened out so I could arm the system. I wasn't able to get it going. But what bothered me the most was that the guy I talked to kept saying there's $25 for somebody to come out. I said no way I was doing that and that I haven't had this thing a week. He just kept pressing for this $25. When I called again the next morning, of course, they agreed with me. They said they were gonna have somebody come out to reset the panel or find out what's going on with it. I thanked them. They sent another gentleman out. He was delightful, funny, quick, and got me right back on track.

I was wondering about the guy that kept insisting about this $25, was he trying to get a credit card number, a bank card number? That was really weird to me. My thought is that if this guy does this four times a night, that's 100 bucks. It may not seem like a lot, but if he's answering the phone and pressing people for $25, I didn't feel good about that.

I've not been terribly happy. I'm kinda OCD about stuff and so anything affiliated with ADT that I have so far is in a file. I went back into the little folder that they left me just to be sure that everything was okay before I filed it. When I got my flyer out, I noticed some things that were kind of a discrepancy from what was printed and what actually was. I was a little disappointed and really suspicious at that point, so I called customer service. They switched me over to corporate. The flyer that I called from said 27.99 a month. I found out that I was actually paying more because of a phone app. I was thinking why the guy didn't tell me that they were gonna charge me another $30 just to have a phone app. So, I had to lose that just to get down to where the flyer says it would be.

The first person I spoke to at corporate said that they would knock it down to 27 for three months. It should've gone back to the 50-something in November. But when he switched me over to another person, she said that it was only for one month. So, it's just somebody says one thing, somebody says something else. Then I told her that I hadn't received the $100 gift card. I'm on disability, so I have to be really tight with my budget. She said they sent me an email and unless I answered that email, I won't get the $100 gift card. I was counting on that to pay off my credit card because I put it all on my credit card.

Every time I turned around, it was more money. When it was installed, I had to come up with another 68. I put that on my card. It just doesn't seem straightforward. I feel like I've gotten myself roped into something that's just gonna be gouge after gouge after gouge. In the meantime, we discovered that I was supposed to have a shock thing on my sliding glass door. I have the sensor that knows when the door is opened and closed, but I didn't see anything else. There's somebody coming to see if I have that. I feel set up. This day and age, people need security. But it needs to be affordable. You got a three-year contract. It's not like you're not gonna make any money. So, why be slick with people and why slam them with money after money after money? They talk about all the discounts that they're giving. Actually, it's not a discount on anything because they're still digging money out of me every time I see them.

I find that to be a bit deceptive. The service is good but from a business standpoint, disclosure is important for a good customer retention. Other than that, everything was done to my satisfaction.

ADT's attitude stinks and my experience with them was lousy. The guy who came to install was sort of pompous and decided that he was here to sell me everything under the sun. I already defined what I wanted because I've had ADT in the past but the system didn't work for four years and I didn't even know it. When I finally realized it wasn't working, I called them and they said they'd send somebody out. But the point was, I never used the system except when I left for long durations. My wife was sick during that time so I stayed home and when I left, she was home and vice versa. I had ADT for almost 16 years at that point and I dropped them.

When I came here, I said I'd give them another shot hoping they had improved. I was also impressed with the simplicity of the product. But the only thing that has improved is their equipment. When the guy came in, he came in early, left late, and spent more time trying to sell me on stuff I didn't want. He came during our lunch hour, so we were trying to get lunch down and he was here working. But he could have done the whole job and left in 10 minutes, plus, he didn't come with any signs. I wanted them put out as they are one of the biggest deterrents. But he said he didn't have any, then he gave me a number, told me to call them and that they'd send the signs to me.

But the number he gave me ran me around in circles and I went through a robot. Finally, after about three attempts, I got to where I could get a sign. I also told the installer that when I leave here, I want the number they call to be changed. He said it was okay but I had to call the number and they'd change it. It turned out that the number he gave me was the same one that put me through the loop. I'll be leaving this number in a few days as I'm going to my Ohio house and I shut off all the phones, television, and all here. So the only thing that will be working is ADT. But the bottom line is, it's not worth the hassle.

Aside from that, the sales representative was okay to the extent that something in the phone system dropped. Then, I waited thinking he'd call back, but he didn't, so then I called, and I got a completely different person. I told that rep that I was not going to go through the whole thing again and I was told that they got all my information there. I also found out the reason why the first rep didn't call me back. It was because some high level in ADT decided that the salespeople can never call back the customer during a sales call.

Now, I was vice president of a large corporation and part of my responsibilities included customer service. I may be harsh but the customers loved our company and we got the highest awards six years in a row from Walmart for customer service. And I can tell that somebody who is sitting somewhere in ADT should be fired because anyone would tell the salespeople in this day and age that when calls can get dropped, they should to get the person's number, call him right back, and pick up where you left off. All in all, I'm not a happy camper when it comes to ADT. And next time around when this contract is over, I'm going to switch to an independent one where I put the system in myself and I don't have to put up with ADT and their absolute arrogance.

We had ADT many years ago in a different address. Then we were with a small company that had become unreliable. So we wanted a more national company. But I was not happy with the installation. I told them ahead of time that with my old system, the screens on the windows were alarmed. It would alarm the house when you'd leave a window open for air. I wanted to preserve that feature. Then they went ahead and installed and told me afterward that they couldn't do that with the ADT system. They said that with the way that their technology works, it was not appropriate to alarm the screens. So I was very unhappy. I'm considering having another contractor to come and put in a second system to have the screens alarmed. It's a big problem.

ADT wouldn't let us do the app because of bad internet speed. We also have a separate camera system. We couldn't add a camera with their system if we wanted to, so that didn't work out either. I liked the ease of activating the alarm. But I'm not pleased about the way the lights work on the panel. They're harder to see from a distance. With the old system, it was easy to tell if it was on or off from a distance across the room.

He shared everything he knew about it, gave me some discounts, gave me the reasons why things needed to be where, and if I didn't do it, what will be the consequences.

He gave me everything I needed to know so that I can make the best decision. He actually helped me set everything up on my phone. I was able to help my wife set up her phone, and everything seems to be working fine. The app is awesome. It’s easy to use and everything works well through it. ADT's reps were pretty nice and cool, too. They tried to help me out and give me discounts. So, I like that a lot.

I’ve known about them ever since I've been an adult. Their sales rep was a good young man. However, the installation took a little while. But the guy did a good job and demonstrated how to use the system. I also have the phone app which I opened this morning but I wasn’t sure how it works. We’re retired and at home all the time. So, only use it when we leave the property. We haven’t been away so we have no reason to turn anything on. But we hope it’s doing its thing.

I bought a home and they had a system already installed. I was calling to see if I could get that system reprogrammed and they referred me to ADT. They came out and looked at the system. They didn’t say they could reprogram it though and that they would offer me something newer for a cheaper price. But the guy that came out to do the installation was knowledgeable and honest about what everything would cost as well as the level of protection that he thought I needed versus the level of protection that I didn’t need, which was good. I didn't feel like I was pressured to making a decision or buying things that I really didn't need at the time.

So far, I like that you can control the system through an app on your phone. That's really helpful. I have younger kids and if I want to, I can arm the system when they leave home. Or when they come back, they can send me a text to tell me that they're home and I can deactivate the system. With ADTm I don’t have to give out the passcode to everybody and I don’t have to worry about my parents getting it wrong or having an issue with different family members staying with us.

I first considered ADT since they have been around a long time and it's probably one of the most trustworthy. Then I got the ad in my email and went from there. The rep I talked to was pretty good. It was definitely a positive feel. I was really doubtful if I'd do it or not, even though I put down the 107 already. Then when the guy came over, we talked and he didn't leave 9:30 on the night he installed the stuff. He did a really good job. I was really confident after that. $30 a month is not that much even though I'm not here at least six months of the year and he made me comfortable in getting that. I've got the panel on the wall and the door alarm when it's opened. I've also got one breaking glass alarm and then I've got an open alarm on my laundry room. But I didn't get the smartphone app because I didn't wanna go that much expense. He said it would be about 48 basic up to 63 every month.

ADT has been around forever. Everything is good with them. Their sales representative was decent. I paid the fee for them to come out. But it wasn't clear how much I would be paying the day of until the day of when they'd come out and offer all these different types of services. I didn’t like that part ‘cause it didn't give me time to prepare. Other than that, the tech was really good. Then a second guy came to get it done faster. So the service was good.

I went out of town for two days and I felt more secure with leaving the house. So I like the ADT system. I'm still getting used to it ‘cause sometimes I forget that it’s on when I get ready to walk out the door. But one thing I don't like when I'm in the house, the system doesn't make a noise if someone opened the front door. I get the alert to my phone but I don't necessarily walk around with my phone on me. But I'm assuming that I can change this in my settings somewhere.

ADT is the number one company and the fact that the service is connected to the police and the fire department gives me peace of mind. I have a young kid and I'm able to keep him monitored. I don't worry about anything because I know he's fine. When I originally got with them, a gentleman came out from Defenders with ADT shirt. I have an apartment with two bedrooms and front and back doors. So I wanted camera. He told me that the cameras did not come with it and that I had to pay for cameras later on down the line. He said he would have to hardwire it. He also made an excuse saying, "What about your landlord?" My landlord was fine with it. I had already checked with him before the man even came out. Then he said he didn't have a ladder.

He put up these sensors on the front and back doors. But the next day, the sensor from the front door fell off. It continuously falls off because it’s not really mounted well. I spoke to more than 12 ADT managing Defender/ADT people. They kept bouncing me around. I was on the phone from midnight until about 1:00 in the morning talking to a rep, securing me that I made a good choice.

Sometimes, you have to be a little bit more in detail about things because people will take advantage, and they took advantage. The rep only gave me $600 worth of equipment rather than $850, which they had to give me a credit of about 200. I went ahead and bought the cameras that I needed. But they won't install them because they're not ADT brand. Also, they didn't have the cameras that I needed. People should make sure they go over their contract and that they're dealing with ADT directly and not an affiliate. Because personally ADT is the best. When they came out, everything was wonderful. But as long as they let this Defender affiliation person come out, I had to keep calling.

I told him that we have glass doors at the front of our house as well as a French glass door at the back. I was really concerned now that my husband isn't here anymore. There was a security system set up at my house. However, I wanted my box to be in my hallway at the entry point instead of my washroom so that when I would come in or go down the stairs, I would see it. That would then jog me to turn it off. With my ADT system, I just step outside my house and set my system through my phone which is so convenient. With my ADT system, I'm protected and happy. I feel safer with it. I previously used ADT. I called Duke Energy to transfer service from my old house to my new house. And then they connected me over to a third-party company, talking to me about cable service, and then security service. I was interested in the security with ADT, so the rep then transferred me over to another rep with either ADT themselves or Protect Your Home. It was a guy that first spoke with me. But it was breaking up, so he transferred me over to a manager who then said that I had a $850 credit to go towards the equipment. And talking with her, she then gave me another $850 for equipment credit. I had $1700 in equipment credit.

When she did that, she said, "That should take care of your second keypad, so that you can have one up in your bedroom and downstairs." I was all excited because I thought I would get the security system and sign a three-year contract for the service, and have it installed for free, which is what she told me. Well, when the rep showed up to evaluate the house, used the $1700, plus, it cost me an extra $1300 out of my own pocket. So, she lied to me on the price of the equipment to secure my house properly. And it's not even 100% secure, where the top windows do not have any window sensors or glass break. So if someone puts a ladder up to my window, they can get into my house and no one will ever know it. And it still cost me an extra $1300. So, what happened with the sales representative that initiated the conversation with me?

The installer explained exactly what I just said - If I would have went with just a plain Jane, bare minimum set-up of a keypad, glass break, smoke detector, which again is one of the things that she gave me, it would be less than $1700." I have dogs. I have kids. I need a glass break in the basement and in the main floor. I also have to get a glass break of every bedroom so that every bedroom is protected. That then might be under the $1700, but everyone’s well protected like it should. Actually, he wanted to really charge me 3000 for what he felt that my house needed. I then had to subtract a few things to have a bit of security.

I did not wanna pay $60 a month, like I am, for the next three years. I thought it would be around 30. And she again, lied to me and did not inform me that you have to have a landline to do that. I don't have a landline. So, again, if someone would cut the landline, it would serve no purpose. I went with one that works through the satellite. And since I already had to pay for that, I went ahead with an automated front door lock. That's nice to be able to unlock the door in case the kids forget the code or forget their key, and just unlock the front door. So far, for what we have set up, it is nice. There is more of a sense of security. It's just that unfamiliarity and not being comfortable with the second level not being protected.

We had to push off the house closing for about a month and they worked with us. But there were a couple of things that I wish could’ve been done differently. The tech found some minor things that needed to be done. One of the cameras wasn't screwed into the wall and it was kind of flimsy. But we put something around it so the two-year-old don't get ahold of it. My wife ended up forgetting to disable the alarm and set it off. It kinda caught us off guard because we didn't look at the cameras. We didn't see anything. But the only thing that we kinda thought of was maybe the cat shut it off. But I didn't really understand that because it’s supposed to be over 50 pounds. But other than that one little thing, we haven't had anything else happen.

The alarm goes off every night at 1:15AM and I am unable to go back to sleep due to being woken up in the middle of the night - every night. I call customer service, no one can assist. Three times technicians have been here. Nothing gets fixed. No managers will call you back - you have to call them and wait on hold for hours, and there is never a resolution.

I have had service appointments set for dates and times that have not been confirmed with me, and the only way I know about the appointment time is that I call to report the alarm going off in the middle of the night. So basically, I was lied to, and o one was ever going to come, they just told me they would so I would be appeased for the moment. My car was stolen from my house, so I needed to get a system in, which is what the camera on the doorbell was for. The person that came out took five hours to put the system in. My wife was at home with our two kids at that time and he didn't walk my wife through on how the system works. He was not very attentive to what my wife was trying to do and it made it pretty difficult after the installation. He also put the monitors and stuff like that in weird places throughout the house. One of them was two feet from the floor. I have a one-year-old and a two-year-old and they keep reaching at it to grab it. I was hoping that he could have put those in a better spot with the kids. That didn't happen.

Then we got the Ring doorbell with video camera. One of the techs came out and looked at it recently. Apparently, the amps from our doorbell, from the one that are stock in the house are not enough power to have the video camera work. It also continuously rings the doorbell over and over and over again because it's not getting enough power to it. I could get an electrician to come out and increase the amps. But that would have been something I would have liked to have known whenever the technician that installed the system in the first place was out to do that. Now, I feel like I'm stuck having to figure other things out and having to find a way to make it work, which I thought they would do whenever they first came out.

We had a tech come out and another person come out and they moved one of the monitors. I also need to have an electrician come out now to fix the amps at the doorbell so there's nothing that ADT can do now at this point. It's frustrating. I paid $1,200 for a system that doesn't work. It hasn't been great. We still need and want the system so I'm trying to get it fixed. It's just the installation has been awful.

I was with one of the competitors and I didn't like the way their service was. Their price was also about two times higher than ADT. When I signed up, the ADT rep I talked to did a very good job and was very helpful with the information. The installer was also very knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing. He was an experienced person and I liked that. He did it as quickly as he could and there were some circumstances that day that took him longer than normal, but things happen. The whole year 2020 has been like that. Then he had to come back three days later for a follow-up on some stuff that weren't working correctly. So he came back and started going again. All in all, I like the Smart Home feature of the system where I can control it from my phone if I happen to get out of the house and that was what I was after.

I did a fair amount of research, and every place has their good and bad. For me, with ADT, I didn't like the fact that you'll have a contract for so long. Also, the monthly rate was a little bit higher than like SimpliSafe, which didn't have a contract. Everyone's gone wireless right now. No one has to dig into your walls. ADT has the same kind of wireless options with any of the other folks, whether it be Infinity or SimpliSafe. I wanted a technician to come out and advise, and not just kinda be out on my own. Also with ADT, there was a bunch of discounts they were running like veteran's discounts. We were able to get most of our equipment for free. The other three places I looked at, while the monthly rate was lower and the contract term was less, we would have to be paying out of pocket and a couple thousand dollars, which I didn't want to do with all the expenses we had moving into a new house. So ultimately, ADT was the best fit for us.

Also, when we signed up for the service with ADT, it was a stay at home subcontractor that came out. They were very friendly, answered all the questions, gave us a bunch of promotions, and made it worth our while. Had they just said, "Hey, you're gonna have to buy the equipment," I wouldn't have gone with them. They said, "Okay, if you can't do that, this is what I can do for 2,000, spending an extra 300 bucks." It was everything that we wanted, and he was very flexible. Given that they gave us about $1,700 in credits, the install was easy to schedule, and the guy was pretty good, I've been happy with that.

People should be aware that the prices on this stuff can get really expensive, but they also can be reasonable. I would tell people to have a clear idea of, "Hey, this is bottom line of what we put in the budget to spend, and we can do an extra few hundred bucks, but we don't wanna do an extra few thousand dollars." The installer gave us some different options instead of having a sensor on every window, which got really expensive, they have a glass break system. That was really the price differential for us. The house is an older home and it has a lot of windows.

The glass break system is so good that if someone comes over and uses the spare bathroom in the evening, it'll activate. So I need to have someone come out and tone down the sensitivity just a little bit. But it's not a negative. We were concerned. We told them, "We want it to be sensitive. We're actually not gonna put a sensor on every window." But it's hard if we have to tell people, "Don't slam the spare bathroom door or we're gonna have the police here until we can get this adjusted," which they said they would do. I've been very pleased. I did not ask enough questions on how expensive things could be, but the amount of credit was what they told us. Everything they promised, they came through with. All in all, they're very easy to deal with on the phone.

I had a very nice interaction with the sales rep. The installer was a great guy. He was very patient. We're old and we need a lot of patience. We feel safer now that we have the system. I like it so far.

The installation took about an hour and the installer seemed fine. He explained everything really simply. The only thing I would change is that after I signed up for the service, I got a promotional offer that I couldn't take advantage of. But that's fine, I’ll call back.

I saw some kind of promotion going on that told me to go for ADT. I thought ADT was the better choice and it was more cost-effective, so I opted for them. The price that the sales rep gave me was $50 per month rate, but a couple of days after, I received a letter that said there was a promotion going on with $27 per month. Other than that, it's been good so far.

I work with the Department of Homeland Security, so I'm traveling 9 to 11 months out of the year. I wanna be able to monitor where I live because I noticed things in the community have changed and the standards have been lowered a bit. It's better to be safe than sorry and I live alone. I went online to see who were the best and ADT was one of those. I don't like contracts but I wanted the best that was available to me.

The work was done well. But I'm upset about the contract that I'm in. I wasn't told that I didn't have enough voltage for my doorbell to ring. Then, I didn't read the contract which stated I only had three days if I wanted to get out of this contract. If I want out, I gotta pay 75%, which is $1600 for services that I don't even have. I'm stuck in a 36-month contract. And now, I have to pay an electrician to put a transformer in to get enough voltage for the camera to work. They said they'd call the police and the fire department for me. I can dial 911 myself. I don't need to pay them $64 a month for that.

I wanted to get a little more home security. I saw a couple of commercials about ADT's work and I gave them a call to see what kind of services they could provide. And with the services that they provided and all the discounts that they gave me, I signed up with them. During the installation, I wasn't here but my girlfriend spoke with the installer and from what she was telling me, he was very helpful, informative, very kind, and very professional. So far, I really love the fact that you can go back and look at the Cloud-saved videos, from both the front and back. I also love the fact that you can activate or deactivate from your phone, and you don't have to worry so much about the 30 or 60 seconds time limit to get in or get out, which is nice.

We work so far away from the house and when we're gone during the day, we have critters in the house, like dogs and cats. We get notification that said we lost power and that we're now on battery backup for our security system. Knowing that we lost power at 10 in the morning and I hadn't come home in a couple hours, we know the animals in the house are gonna get hot, especially in the summertime. So then we can come home and take care of it. We also get the notifications to our phone when we lock. It's neat because we can unlock before we even get out of bed. We have dogs so the first thing we do is we open the door and let the dogs out. So it's really cool. We don't have to walk over to the pad. I can do that from my phone and lock it whenever we leave. So far, ADT has been really good.

The technician that came out was a young man. He was very professional and he answered all the questions. I wasn't home whenever he got here. He talked to my wife and my stepson were here. He talked to them and then went over everything before he ever installed anything. He understood what the system was gonna do. He was very knowledgeable. When I got home about an hour after he had been here, he went through the whole thing all over again to make sure I understood. He was exceptional.
