ADT appeared to have had a lot of discounts. But what it all boils down, it was not really that. I’m going to call them because it threw me off budget. Because I save one thing, no cost or no charges, but then there is another. My experience was pretty good. But they advertise one thing and they really do another. That’s the one thing I did not like.
Hello Ruthie! Thank you for choosing ADT to protect your home. We are sorry to hear about the experience that you have had with us. We are happy to resolve any concerns that you have. Please reach out to us at your convenience at 1-800-238-2727 for assistance.

We've had some people in the neighborhood that don't live here and we wanted to be careful. We decided on ADT because as a veteran, they offered a discount to me for the equipment. I felt very good about the initial customer service experience. They were knowledgeable and polite so I felt really comfortable with the process of starting, continuing, and getting the product.
The installation took about three hours. The gentleman had someone with him that was new on the job. He was training him as well as getting things installed. He was knowledgeable as well. He took me around the house and showed me where we could improve our security. I like the key fobs that we can carry with us in case we forget to activate it when we’re all gone. There's nothing I really dislike about the system. It's easy to set. You have a minute when you walk in to get it unarmed. That's plenty of time ‘cause we have it about 10 feet from the front door. That works for us. For anyone considering a system through ADT, you can trust that you're getting a good-quality product and that the reviews that they do with you of your security is important.

They were not pushy when we initially contacted them but you could tell they were definitely trying to sell you on the product. They definitely handled that well. The installation was good. We ran into a couple issues trying to get something down the wall. But for the most part, it was fine. When we're done paying all the equipment off, we're gonna be buying another camera. I have recommended them to people and they’ve already been in contact with ADT. They’re actually getting their stuff put on at their house.

ADT had a good offer going on, so I decided to go ahead and give them a try. At the time, I was deciding between them and another company, and I reached out to ADT first. When they came out for the installation, they explained everything to me but after that, I wasn't expecting to put out that much money all upfront. I just got the basic plan and everything was installed, but later I started encountering some issues with the system where it kept saying that, “Back door chime not working.” Then it said, “Battery low,” so I tested the battery and it was fine.
The next day, it started acting up again and I couldn’t set my alarm, so I called the customer service and they told me to do a test on it. They rebooted it and it worked, but then it went down again. And I was unable to set my alarm for about a week and a half because they were unable to get a technician out there until yesterday. But they got that situated and all the things are up and running now. All in all, it’s a good service.

PG&E connected me with ADT because I purchased a new home. The ADT rep was very nice and he really helped. It was great dealing with him. The installation went good. The installer described what he was offering and the equipment that he brought, and then he did the installation. I'm very satisfied with the features of the security system.

Everything we got wasn't what we were expecting. There was a big misunderstanding with digital security thing. We were mainly looking for outdoor security, like a camera outside. We didn't have Wi-Fi at the time but I was told that we were still gonna get the camera and that they were still gonna put it up. Then whenever we get Wi-Fi, we can go ahead and connect it. But nobody came. They didn't show up with any camera. Then they started telling me that I was gonna have to pay a $200 fee to get that additional camera when they were first telling me that it came free. But whenever the rep came over, he got us a pretty good deal, so we ended up staying with ADT. We like the way that the system is connected to our phone and that we can control it from our phone. We like the sensors on the kids' windows.

I heard about ADT through my work. We get an email with employee discounts. And then, I spoke with a gentleman at ADT and had a great conversation. He was a salesman. At the end of the conversation, I was like, "You know what, you sold me on this. I'm not even gonna look at any other company." However, the package was a bit of a bait-and-switch. I didn't understand completely what I was getting when I agreed for them to come. And then the guy installed everything. I ended up paying a little more. But the features are good. My sense of security has been increased.
They sent me a new contract. I had to sign a three-year contract in order to get the free system and I paid a little extra, but I understand. I needed to pay $36 a month or whatever it is for three years. Also, I called to have a couple of cameras added and upgrade the system. I'm paying for those cameras. It wasn't like I was getting anything free. They sent me a new contract to sign so that they could schedule someone to come out and it said a five-year contract. But I said, "Wait a minute. That's not right. You're not giving me anything free. Why are you extending my contract for an additional two years?"
I just happened to glance through it when it came through when I was still on the phone with her. And she was like, "Oh, that was the wrong contract. Sorry. Oh, that was a mistake. That shouldn't have happened." And then in further, she said, "I'll send you a new one," but she didn't. And then further in the discussion, I said, "Okay. So, if I upgrade my system with these new cameras, I can now have the app on my phone so I can see the cameras. When I'm not home, I can see what the cameras are saying. However, in two years, if I feel like I don't need the increased level of security, I can reduce from the $56 monthly payment down to the 36 and back to where I was before.” Then she said, "No. You have to stay at the $56 a month for the full amount of the contract."
I said, "Okay. That's not right. I mean, if you give me the cameras for free, that makes sense, or if you give me something, that makes sense. But I'm upgrading my system at my own expense. I shouldn't be required to extend my contract, number one, to five years, and number two, I should be able to reduce back to the level which we initially agreed upon." She said no, and kept talking. I told her I need to speak to a manager. She then put me on hold for a really long time. And then finally, I had to go to a meeting, so I hung up. I was not happy with that. Also, I'm supposed to get $100 gift card but I have not received that.

I had a sleepless night. I had an appointment with ADT and told them I gotta do it then. The guy that came out was wonderful. His name was Chris and he was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable. I explained to him what my particular fears were and I don't think he sold me more than I needed. He understood that before I sell my other home, I’m in a sort of a financial limit. He was more than willing to work with me on that and explained to me that later, I could add other things. That was great. Everything was clean and perfect. He also taught me how to use everything.

I feel like on the initial phone call that I made to ADT, not all the information was upfront as far as equipment and equipment that would be installed, and then the cost of it. When the two guys came and sat down and started talking with us, all of a sudden, they presented us with a $3,500 plan. I kinda lost it at that point. I had no idea it could be that expensive. My partner stayed in the room. I left at that point because I needed to cool off. The negotiation continued and the price came down substantially. Then I came back and decided, “Well, we still need to have home security and you're here, so we might as well just go with it.” We had ADT once before, so it's just comparable to our previous experience. We're okay with it.

Overall, I've had nothing but great experience with ADT. The one I spoke to on the phone originally after we bought the home was very informative. He pretty much broke everything down to where I knew everything that I was getting into, what I needed to get, et cetera. He was easy to talk to on the phone. I had the same experience with the technician that came out to do all the work. I didn't have any issues at all. They were also very transparent with me. They were very organized and got to it right away. We didn't have to clean up when they were done. My favorite feature of the system is having the cameras very accessible on the phone, locking the front door from my phone, and setting the alarm and deactivating with the phone.

I've been a USAA member for a while and ADT provided us with a discount. Also, my parents have had ADT before. So, it was a couple of things why we decided on them. The installation went smoothly. The representative was friendly, very straight to the point and got what he was sent for done. He said that he couldn't leave until I could demonstrate that I knew how to work through the panel. He showed me the app too. He had his mask and he kept his distance, so it was a comfortable experience. The best part of the system is that I can access all the information on my phone. So, if I forget to arm it while I'm out, I can always arm it on my phone. I can see what's happening on the doorbell when I'm away from the house. It’s been user-friendly.

ADT had a promotion that was going on. I was just trying to get information on it and it sounded okay so I just went along with it. The rep was very informative and patient. They came out and gave me a couple of days to try the system and see if everything was okay. The system is set up and I'm fine with it. When I open up the door, I hear the sound but I don't hear it when I'm in my room. But I haven't set the alarm yet because I'm still not clear on it. I also don't know if that's a part of a package. I have downloaded the app, but I don't know how to navigate that also. I was trying to get it set up on my phone so when the doors would open I would able to get that sound. I just have to really read and look into it and set the alarms.

George was my ADT sales guy and he was awesome. I was really pleased with him. The installer also did a great job and he got me hooked up with as much as he could. When I had to have my motion detector moved, their guy helped get me the right phone numbers because I had to call and get the $100 Visa card. I don't have internet to print out forms in my contract so I had to call. They snail-mailed me the forms so I could get my Visa card. They said it would take about two weeks to get to my house. I'll fill everything out ASAP, get it back in the mail, and I should make it okay. But I'm just worried about getting it on time because I have 60 days to get it in and I have to do it through the mail.
My system consists of alarms on the windows and doors. I like the sense of knowing that if anything goes wrong, I'm protected. I have concerns that's why I got the system. Having it is nice and I can sleep at night. The rates are a little bit high compared to Ring but I don’t have internet. And the whole experience with George really brought me full center.

They cared about what we needed and didn’t try to sell us things that we didn’t need. The installation went really well. The tech was professional. He brought a trainee with him. We were very impressed about how he was communicating to the trainee what he was doing and why he was doing it. I've had ADT for a really long time and the system that I have is very old. It worked okay and I was able to do the system louder if I wanted to. However, there are creatures breaking in. I wanted my house better secured. I didn't have the protection back in the other rooms and stuff that I needed. Someone could come in through my windows but if they didn't go in the hall, they could get away with it. That's why I wanted it updated.
The man came out and put in the panel. He was real nice. He sat there, talked to me and explained. However, this one is down lower and the update was supposed to be $29 but it wound up being either $39 or $49. Also, I didn't get the other stuff that I was supposed to have gotten which were the doorbell camera and the sensors. He didn't finish installing because he said I didn't have enough internet. I called about the internet for my area but I can't get the high-speed internet. I tried and tried. He was gonna come back and do them. I called and they transferred me from one person to another. I was on the line for a long, long time. I called the other day with my house phone and I was on there so long until it went dead. I would like for them to come back. If I had known in the beginning that I had to have the internet, I probably wouldn't have bothered with it.

I was looking on the web and ADT was in the top five. I liked ADT's ratings. It was the most around in the high 90s. It was a little bit higher than the others. Also, ADT is better, because here, the doors swing outwards. The fire departments and police department will tell you it's very hard to breach a door that swings outwards. Pretty much, the police will use a shotgun to blow the hinges off.
As far as what I got, I like that the keypad is able to unlock during a fire. If the fire alarms go off, the door will unlock. I like that. They put a water detector in a totally inaccessible place though. With people in their 70s and 80s, you might as well dug a hole and put it 500 feet underground. I already called them, and they’re supposed to come and change that. My problem is, on the phone I told the rep I was looking for a camera, and they told me, “Oh, the special is 29.95 a month.” The guy got here, and it raises to 59.95. Then on top of it, this weekend, I got a mail from them offering it at 29.95. I think I’m getting a little bit of a run around on that pricing.
They installed too much equipment. I don’t think we needed a carbon monoxide outlet in every single room especially with the house that’s electric. I went along with it later on. The house has an enclosed patio with three walls and the screen facing out. Then there's a pier. I put a big screenhouse beyond that. We never had a detector there, now we got one there. I’d tell others, “Don’t let them install anything till they put the total in, what’s it coming up with expense.” Somebody at ADT is not following a totally good practice.

I previously had ADT years ago and I was thinking of renewing it, and I did, and I upgraded it with cameras and everything else. I received a lot of emails from ADT. I made an appointment and had an installer come over and we talked about it. He was a very nice gentleman. He was here for quite a while and we talked about the different plans, the different options, if I wanted this, if I wanted that, and so forth. He installed the cameras and went over the app, and which app to use, because when you bring up the app, it has a multitude of ADT applications for Apple. I have Apple. So, he showed me the right one and how to set it up. He replaced the old main box, and he installed a new video doorbell in my front porch, and then he installed a camera in my backyard. He was a very polite and personable young lad.
I'm very satisfied with what I have. My previous ADT had a little clicker where you can alarm the house or disarm, and so forth. He said, “That was obsolete. Now, you have to use your app on your phone.” It's easier to hit a clicker and hear the thing beep or beep again when you will disarm it. But you get used to it. He was quite good. The only problem I had is that when he was here, I had set up an automatic withdrawal for payments, and I kept getting emails and letters from ADT asking me to make a payment, which I finally went on the website and did it. I made two payments, and that was a little bit confusing. I don't know if I'm set-up for automatic payments, or do I have to physically write a check and send it with their envelope.
Then, I'm still getting emails from ADT asking me if I want the service. Other than that, ADT is the premier alarm system because it's national, and I could be anywhere in the country, probably anywhere in the world and turn my alarm on and off. One of the reasons why I wanted ADT is because of their reputation and because of the accessibility.

ADT has been around for many years. They're a big company and they're reputable. I went with them and so far, it's been a good experience. The rep explained what they were offering and I was given the choice of what I wanted. They're not trying to sell you something that you may not be able to afford. The same man did the installation. He demonstrated how everything worked. I don't remember what I have to do to activate the system but he left me with enough brochures where I can pretty well pick it up. However, I didn't realize in the beginning that you had to buy the system. I was under the impression that it was where you had to pay so much per month to have it. But one thing about owning it is if there's a problem, they repair or replace it.

The performance works well too. However, there was one option that I wanted and I couldn't get it. I don't have any type of wi-fi so I couldn't get something where I can see whatever goes around in my house. That problem's the only thing that I didn't like of it, but other than that, everything's good. This is my first time ever having a security system in my home and it's making me feel protected. I could go to sleep better, knowing that if anything goes wrong in my home or someone tried to break in, the alarm will go off. I feel 100% safe.

He had the windows all set up. However, it doesn't seem like I'm getting all the notifications. It will tell me when I turn something off but it doesn't send me a notification when I arm it. I'm concerned about those. I was also supposed to get three windows sensors but I only got two. Another thing is they promised me when I paid and got everything that I would get a $100 Visa gift card but I've not received that. That was part of the bargain. But I'm using the system and so far, it seems to be working. I would recommend it to anyone because it's better than nothing. It's better than going unprotected. And we have technology strong enough now that people can work from home and answer phones and everything else. Also, their service answering a phone is terrible. We have the basic security with the doors and motion. They try to inform the consumer of what they need in their home and provide general information about what it means to have not only an alarm system but to protect your home in general. I learned a lot during the process about fire safety and other things that I wouldn't have even considered at the time.
Aaron, the person who installed everything, was super nice and very knowledgeable. Any questions that I had, he was able to answer in general. He cleaned up mostly everything. There was one box that he said I needed to keep and that he couldn't dispose of because it had my old alarm bell in it. He also left his jacket with ID here. He did notify me of that and said that someone with ADT was gonna come get it but it's been almost a month now. Other than that, everything was in pretty mint condition. So I told the rep that I didn't have the time and they should be here right by 8:00 in the morning because right at 9:00, I would have to head out to work. They showed up on time. But they never installed the smoke detector and the sensors. The cameras are installed. They're slow but they look great and I have a great view on the cameras. Those were what I really wanted and the alarm system 'cause I was never home. I told them that I paid about $500 and they offered all this but nothing was given to me.
One of the guys was supposed to call me by Friday but he didn't call me till Monday. I was on a tight schedule so I told him that after I'd get off of work, I'd go straight to school from 6:00 to 10:30 roughly, depending on the teacher. It would like that Monday through Friday. Then on Saturday, I work all day. So I wasn't gonna deal with them at 7 o'clock in the afternoon. That should have been taken care of the day of. So I'm not happy. I told them that I didn't want the contract anymore.

We had the system installed. And then, we had it uninstalled because the first guy, who I found out was an authorized ADT, had elaborate fees and told me that the ADT system that was already installed in the house was obsolete, especially the panel. There were also nice, small, unintrusive window guards and sensors. They weren’t noticeable so much. He said he had never seen anything that old so he ripped everything that worked even though when I made the call to make the appointment, the girl on the call said that my stuff was fine. I should be good and that I should just have to put in a camera.
The tech was here for 12 hours and 35 minutes. He installed the system twice and it didn’t work. But it worked long enough for him to get out the door. But in the morning, it was completely not working again and it never worked again, including the time that he took it out and took it back with him. Then, someone from the corporate office came and installed the system. Now, I have these grossly bulky, oversized things and they're really ugly. Even the one that we have in the master bathroom, the other guy had it at the top but this one is so bulky that the guy from corporate had to put it on the lower end. They stand out. I could've still had those cute, little sensors that I had in here that worked perfectly fine. But for the most part, things went fine with the guy from corporate. However, do not ever use an authorized dealer.

ADT has been great, but I need to call the rep that installed the system. I'm down here in Alabama where Hurricane Sally hit a little harder and after that, for some reason, I've had a problem with the camera. But I just figured that that was due to the power going in and out. Other than that, the rep who installed the equipment was very professional and very punctual. I left work early to go meet with him and he was there before I was. He was also very knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions. Apparently, it's a newer system and he said they're pushing it but it can be confusing. He set me up with a key fob, placed the camera, and had it hooked up and working. If everybody's like that man, and I'm assuming that ADT only gets the high quality people, I would recommend them. It was a fairly easily process and he was upfront with me about everything.

He was here for four hours because we had cameras, a doorbell camera, an indoor camera, a back camera, and the sensors. He was very helpful and we really appreciated the time he spent with us.
There are four of us and we are all senior citizens. We like the fact that we can use the doorbell cam. The bedrooms are upstairs so that makes a big difference. So far, I've had no problems with the system, except for that one zone and I'm having to bypass it at night. It's a little difficult but I'm able to get it done. The individual that came out and installed the system was okay. But there was confusion. When I called, I had explained to them my situation. I was talking to the rep and she said, "You could talk to my manager." I talked to the manager and told him my situation. He said, "I can get you a touch screen. I could get you a doorbell camera. I could protect your windows, shatter glass, and all of this is free. You pay $99. I'm gonna send you back $100 Visa card," which I haven't received yet.
When the tech came and I told him that, he said, "That's the problem. They don't explain it to you or they tell you this, but it's not that. If you wanna get the cameras and a touchscreen, you got to pay $299." I said, "But that ain't what I was told." The representative who sent them out there said, "Make sure you tell him that this is what you want." I said, "Well, he told me to make sure that this is what I want, that this was all free and everything." He just said I could get it through friends or relatives. He was putting in a special. He told me that I can get this for free. So this is what I was expecting to get, but I didn’t. He said I had to go with a regular pad. I didn't get the camera.
I started to just say, "I didn't want this." But because of the situation I had with my other alarm system, I had already told them they could cut it off. I'm staying in a dangerous neighborhood. So, I didn't wanna be without a system. I just went on and took it. I've been calling back and forth trying to ask them why would they tell me one thing and then it's a whole different story after. As far as the alarm system, that's working. But with the representative and how they get you to get the alarm, I'm dissatisfied.

I feel protected with the ADT system. When I ordered it, I was told that the system came with all the window protectors and with only one doorbell camera. It came with one key fob and the guy ended up giving us a second one. All doors and all windows were $199 install. Then it only went for 109 when they ran it. But everything was included. We could add more cameras if we wanted to and they would discuss that then. But when I got home, the bill was $1,300. My husband said that it did not include the price of the windows and the window alarm and both doors. I'm not happy at all. It was a bait-and-switch and they got over on us because I wasn't there. I would've gone with a different company.
ADT would have walked out with another camera sale, but it was already to include one outside camera. But I wanted more than one outside, so it would've included that. But if I would've been there, it would've been different. But my husband didn't know and I didn't think to even say anything because I assumed it was gonna be on the up and up. What they did was wrong. I'm very dissatisfied. I didn't even know who to reach out to at this point 'cause they did not leave a business card. I needed to get a copy of something so that I could send it to our insurance provider because we'd get a discount on our insurance for it.
The system we've gotten for our home is definitely nothing different than what we have at my job, and that's why I called ADT to begin with. They asked me how many windows we had and I told them exactly how many. We got a very small house. We've gotten two windows in my room and two windows in my son's room. We also have a window in the kitchen, and then we have two windows in the family room. My boss was listening to the whole conversation when I ordered the system but we still had to pay extra.

The equipment is very pricey. It’s way above what I was expecting. I also never claimed the gift card that they sent out to me. I had to go in and download some link and I had to pay some fee. I had my equipment installed and we're trying to work out as far as the headaches with it right now. The installer put in these glass sensors, but they don't tell you that with any kind of noise, the sensors can go off. So, you can't sit in your house, have it armed, and watch TV. I tried to call them about it and I thought I'd get a real person, but I had to go through a long menu. Then I found out when I talked to some human being that the earliest they could get anybody out here was a week later. That's not acceptable and I expect better for what I'm paying. I paid $1,000 for this system and almost 50 bucks a month, then I got to go through a menu as if I'm dealing with some local yokel. So, I had made them give me an emergency number that I can call to talk to a human right away.
We're talking about security here, not a business to make money for ADT. And so far, I'm not a happy camper, but I'm giving it a chance. I called the guy that installed it and he was kind enough to give me his personal cell phone. He was so professional and so nice, but he only follows the scripts that ADT gives him, so ADT would let him sel.. He said he could try to adjust the sensitivity from his laptop and I think it worked for a while. But then, it started to kick off just by doing dishes. If you're washing dishes, it's pretty hard to not bang a dish once in a while, and that sets the alarm off. But they don't tell you that. They said it's broken glass, if somebody breaks through the window. But that's a lie. It happens much more often, so we sit in our house now at night until we go to bed, unarmed, so that we can enjoy an evening without constantly hearing the stupid alarm go off. So, it's a little frustrating, but I'm sure they'll make good or they'll take all these crap out and put in something that works when they send them out.
Other than that, it's very easy to use the system. We use the telephone thing to arm and unarm and that seems to be working just fine. Hopefully, ADT will do the right thing and this is not some kind of a money-making scheme for ADT. I picked them because supposedly they were ranked so high and I'm finding out that maybe that ranking was not legitimate.

I want my garage covered. I cannot see my driveway. What I wanted was when somebody pulled up from my driveway, a beeper will go off and let me know somebody pulled in. I have a camera now but nobody has answer about getting acknowledgment of some kind. I’m not satisfied with ADT at all. If I don't get this corrected, they can come get their equipment.
During the installation, there was a young trainee, then another guy that only had several months training. He was fairly knowledgeable. They were nice guys. However, neither one of them wore a mask. They were supposed to call before coming out here. Neither one of them called before they came. They were supposed to notify me an hour before. So we weren't able to put the door sound and everything else on the doors and the windows. He ended up telling me about the package and he said it was a one payment of $560. It's called Defenders Installation. I told him that was a lot of money. He only talked to me about the 59.99 package. He didn't offer the other packages. The guy who came out was pretty patient. I had a friend over that just would not shut up. He was talking the installer's ear off, but the installer was super patient, super cool and did not seem to mind my friend at all. Then, he explained to me how to work the little buttons on my key fob, he showed me how to use the little pen pad and he got the little door sensors installed for me, which was super cool.
I love the system, so far. It's been really nice. Two times I kinda freaked out, and I was like, “Wait a minute. Did I lock my door correctly? I searched Google for ADT offers, and Protect Your Home was the one that popped up regionally for me. Every other time I looked at them, all the offers and pricing were the same. There wasn't a lot of market shopping to be done between the different providers for ADT. As far as ADT over other security systems from other companies, they had a better offer with the equipment and the pricing for that.
The sales rep was great. Everything was easy. The communication was good. The installer was a guy around my age with similar interests, so that always helps. He went over everything including the equipment that I didn't go for. He brought in all the different things so that we could see everything that we could have. That way, we got to choose from what we felt we needed or what we didn't need.
So far, everything's been fine with the system. I did have a few instances where I needed to move sensors from where he had installed them. That was a pain because as soon as I tried to take it off of the window, it would set the alarm off even with the alarm not armed. I think that was because it's one of the shatter sensors, so it definitely got a good jar whenever I've pulled it off the window. It just happened to be where he placed them on the window. He couldn't have known that for me to open my windows to take the screens out, they have to open a different way than they normally do. The sensor was preventing me from doing that. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with ADT so far. If people are looking for either a new or replacement security system, I would recommend it to them.

This is what I'm scared of because if anything is to happen, I don't know if they can help me with the service. I don't expect to have a problem but sometimes equipment doesn't work. They told me I have 60 days to cancel but I don't really wanna do that ‘cause then I gotta find somebody else. I hope that they do what they are supposed to do. When I call, I get service within a day or so, especially with the equipment not working properly because there's no sense of having a piece of equipment that’s not working properly.
But the system is working. I put it on at night. Around here is pretty safe. My neighbors look out for each other but if I have to go out to work, I don't know what happens during the day. The night might be different. It's very difficult to get in my subdivision but they have people coming here to cut grass and we don't know who they are. They got trucks coming to do construction work and I won't be home. People may come and look around. People also come here selling products. If they ring the bell too long and nobody answers, they get suspicious. They may not do it the same day but they may do it some other time because people may not be home. I'm hoping nothing happens but I hope when I call for service, I get serviced. The system seems secure because I try all the windows every day. The sensors are on and they work when I'm home. When I go out, I hope they work too.

With ADT, I liked the convenience and processing. The convenience of the hours worked out for me. Also, I'm 100% satisfied with the features. I find it easy to use the system because we downloaded the app on our phones, so we can set it and shut it off coming in from the driveway or wherever. It's fairly new and we're still learning. But so far, so good.

It was a little sales-y when I talked to the ADT sales agent on the phone. They didn't wanna give too much information as far as what was included in the package and what the pricing was. They said they just need to set up the appointment and when the guy comes out to my house, we can go over that stuff. But I work in retail so I get it. The tech that came out to the house went over the details that they didn't go over on the phone. Also, the install was great and the installer was very thorough in explaining everything. The system works perfectly for what I need it for.

After putting my information in, ADT called me within the same day. They spent a lot of time on the phone with me and did some explaining. They also gave me some discounts on the product. The rep answered all of my questions. Then, I learned more about it once the actual installer came. He was very thorough in his explanations and he was patient with me as I decided what I wanted. He was also very quick in installing. He was great. So far, the system seems good. It feels so much better to know that if anyone's entering, I would be warned, and that it's also looked over when I'm not here. Also, if there was a fire or carbon monoxide, I would be notified and fire trucks would be notified too.

There was an alarm system on the home when we bought it but wasn't activated. We thought it was ADT so we called them. We had ADT installed and that went fairly well. The guy was pretty cool and he had his PPE. He seemed really likable and his communication was good. He was also willing to work with us. It wasn't just cut-and-dried. He showed us how to do it and went over everything. He worked with us a couple of times then he got the system done for us.
He explained to us it was gonna be 80 some dollars to come out but we wouldn't be charged for the new equipment being put in. We got a monthly going and I was shocked it went through right away. They charged us for the equipment too. I had to call about that and got that straightened out. We talked to the boss and she was a little stern about what was going on at first. We explained to what happened and she said they would credit our account in the long run. She promised that it was a one-time fee. We like whatever features our system has, like push the button and leave. It's all we need. We don't need any more than the basics.

I spoke to a couple of different people. I also received the brochure in the mail welcoming new neighbors. So, I called on that. Afterwards, I was told that all I needed to do was have the present system changed over in my name. I called back and had that done. But the guy came out and he put in a new system. He said the other one was too old. He went over the system, gave me the brochure and showed me how it works, waited until it got put in, then tried out a couple of times to make sure I could operate it, and showed me how it worked on my phone. It just went right on, too. That was a breeze. When my alarm went off a couple of times, I texted the tech, he took care of it, and he called me back and let me know it was fixed.

The installer was very informative and helpful. He explained the features in the system very well. I'm not completely done with my remodel yet so I don't have it 100% done. I just have kind of the bare minimum. I just have devices on all of my exterior doors that monitor status if its open or closed but so far, so good. The rep was nice but it was a little misleading telling me I was gonna get all the stuff for $27 a month but it was $80 a month for a $3,000 worth of equipment purchase. If I would have known that was the case, I wouldn't have even made an appointment for a service tech to come out and give me an estimate.

Everything went perfectly with the individual that came out to install. It's very clear expectations set. It was very easy to understand why he was recommending certain things. He was very flexible with the changes that we wanted to make. With ADT, every inch of my house is covered. It's easy to sleep at night. It's way above expectations. I had been with a competitor and it was below expectations.

ADT had a fast response. I like the alarm system and how quickly it is activated if I do something wrong, which is a good thing. I am an old woman so I tend to learn slowly. A couple of weeks before I signed up for ADT, I checked out ConsumerAffairs briefly because I compared ADT to three other local companies. ADT out came on top.
When the technician was out here the second time, he forgot that the system was still activated. ADT called within a minute asking if there was a problem. I was impressed with that. The only feature I would like to see upgraded is a siren that could be outside of the house. All the sirens inside the house go off but to alert my neighbors, I would like to have a siren outside as well. It doesn’t have to be connected to anything. That's probably coming down the road already.
One minor thing is the key fob. It doesn’t have enough of a distance. You have to be within 10 or 15 feet to activate it. If I'm outside of my truck, which is 30 or 40 feet from the house, I'd like to be able to still activate it or deactivate it but I can’t. I can arm and disarm with my tablet though. But I don't like to go pull my tablet out of my purse to turn it on, get on the website then turn the system off. I have a flip phone instead of a smartphone. Other than that, I've been happy and I have been recommending ADT.

ADT has a good reputation. I've seen the stickers on other doors. I used to go into many different homes cleaning chimneys. So, I knew what I wanted. The installer knew what he was doing, wore a mask, and explained things well about what he would offer, even though it was his first day back from his honeymoon. The system is easy to use. I like the fact that it’s hooked in to my cellphone. What I enjoy the most is I can turn the lights on before I get home after dark. And I can lock and unlock it with the cellphone too. I like leaving, going out on the back porch and then closing everything up rather than using the control panel. But yesterday, I was glad the control panel was there because there was a power failure, so I had to come in with the key and then use my code to let the alarm know that I'm a good guy.

My transaction with ADT's reps went pretty smoothly. But during the installation, I didn't feel like they were really forthcoming with the price. It ended up being expensive, which was not something that I was thinking it was going to be that much. But in the initial conversation on the phone, they were saying it was going to be a $99 installation. And then there were thousands of dollars for them to put in the actual system. It's been a while since we used them and I know it didn't cost that much last time. I kept asking how much were the things on the phone and I didn't really get a good answer. They just kept saying the technician could talk to me about that when he was here.
Other than that, their monitoring is good, so that's why we ended up going with them. I also like having the app on my phone and I like the system itself. Still, they should be more transparent so their customers will have an idea of how much a system would actually cost before they call the company. Because the $99 installation is not really $99 and that to me is not good business practices.

The cameras were free installation, but the hookup was still the same price as the installation. The rep explained to me either you would pay the same amount, which was 400 bucks for the device, or you would pay 400 bucks for the service to get it started. That just wasn't clear, but it was fine. I had some other cameras and the rep let me know some other alternatives since that wasn't really in my budget at that point.
The installer was a team of one, but he was very professional. I didn't even notice he was there. We had other stuff. It was a crazy time. Everybody happened to come at the same time when I had a window. So, he just went in his corner, set up everything, came to me when he needed to explain everything to me, had me sign off on what he did, and then I walked him through. It went smoothly. He was knowledgeable, seemed like he enjoyed what he was doing and was really nice.

I saw the advertisement and called ADT. They had a nice package so that's what made me choose them. Also, almost every sign in the new neighborhood has it so I figured it was good. I picked the package at $27 a month. When the guy first came in, he said he was gonna go around the house to see what I needed. He came back and said that I pay $1,000 that day. I didn't like that at all. I picked a package where I had already sent the money requested. For him to come in and talk about $1,000 upset me. I thought he had already put the stuff in but he hadn't. If I called ADT and I asked for this, whenever the person comes, that's what he should install. Other than that, there was no problem. They worked that out. Instead of 27, we're doing 36. Two guys came out to install our ADT system. It went really well except there was a connection issue with the ADT like the devices weren’t connecting because it was so smoky out. It was no fault of theirs. They were very polite and nice. They were able to run my cords, so far, very cleanly, and making sure it was exactly what I needed and what I wanted. They're planning on coming back out once I get AT&T out here so they can finish my camera installation.
Both the gentlemen didn't make me feel like they were taking over my home. They were here from 8:30 in the morning until 3:30 in the afternoon. They had everything ready to go. It was just a technical issue of getting everything connected to the ADT system. They were waiting on hold with whoever they needed to be on hold with for hours. We rescheduled for them to come back, and then everything clicked on, and everything was unable to connect. Once that worked, they were in and out of here in under an hour.
So far, I'm enjoying the ability to use the app on my phone and having the panel there. It's very easily accessible. It has the talking feature so I can know exactly what’s been opened. I can’t wait to see what it'll be like having the cameras. But that is an AT&T thing. Initially, I was getting PG&E installed. PG&E sent me over to AT&T, and then AT&T sent me over to ADT because there was a discount. I know ADT has really good reviews. I’ve used other securities in the past and it seems like I'd be getting a pretty good service at ADT.

The contractor was very nice. I got things that I needed. I got my front doorbell camera, but half the time, the sound doesn't work. The tech hasn't finished his install. When we called ADT to figure out all the stuff they needed to do, we found out they did it incorrectly. ADT told us to keep our equipment in the old house and then leave it all there. And then when we got to the new house, they said, “You need to bring all your equipment with you.” So, we were very irritated. We've been told many different things.
And then, they gave us all these credits. After that, it was a great thing, and then charged us for all the contacts that we were supposed to have included in our new install. When we got here, they were like, "Oh, you got like $1,300 in credit, plus the $850 Porch thing." It sounds great, right? So, when we got here, we were like, "This is what we have." And he was like, "Great. Well, I can give you this and this and this." We got one free camera. But they charged us for it. I'm confused at this point. I'm disappointed.

We’re supposed to get the doorbell where we can see the video when people come in and out. The installer offered to come and install that for us once we get the doorbell that we need.
We were with a different security company before. Whenever we called them, they didn't have one in the area to come check or fix anything. We went two years paying them yet nothing worked. The video camera didn’t work. But with ADT, I like that if we call somebody, they're here automatically. They come out without any problem. We like ADT. We purchased a home here in Bartlesville but we're not gonna be here in the winters, so we decided that we needed to have a little more security in case somebody came in. We also have lots of animals that come through our backyard and you never know if one of them could run in and break the glass. But ADT never covered automatic lock. ADT was already in the home that we just bought. Some of the equipment was outdated, but they were here in this location. Also, ADT is at other locations in this complex that we're living in. I work third shift. And the ADT guy came while I was supposed to be sleeping. We weren't aware that the appointment was gonna take that long. I set it up to where I was gonna be home. The touchpad monitor and smoke detectors should be done on a separate phone or online conversation where I could see a better representation of what that product could do but not with this guy standing in my house when I was supposed to be sleeping. He was a good guy.
The guy was doing his job and he wasn't trying to sell me something. He knew what I didn't want and didn't need. I wanted the touchpad. I also wasn't aware that I was gonna have to pay out of pocket when he was here. There was nothing even said to me that I was gonna have to pay. It was $600. I told the guy that he gotta get that down. So he started taking stuff off, which made the appointment longer. I should've known this before I had this stranger in my house. I just wanted him to come, install the system and leave so I could go back to bed.
ADT already knew ahead of time how long it would take for somebody to come out and install the alarm system into a home. But they gotta make it to where it would be shorter for the person in the home. I just let the guy in, he installed what I ordered, and he was good to go. He was in and out in less than an hour. They should've done what other companies do with their hardware and their payments throughout the years that you have a contract with them.
I'm in contract with ADT for 36 months. If there was another option where I could pay half of the $600 now and the rest would be broken up it would still have made my bill unreasonable and too expensive. The payment should've been broken out in $5 to $10 per month throughout the time that I am in a contract with them. They should not expect somebody to fork out $600 on the spot when I knew this hardware and software did not cost ADT $600. The guy said that it was already discounted. We have a pandemic right now with this COVID-19. People can't be forking out any $600 or $700. There are people unemployed but they still wanna have their home protected.
They announce in the middle hallway where we have our panel what doors have been opened. I'm able to use it on my phone. I installed the electronic front door that goes through our Wi-Fi, and I gave everybody their own personal code that they wanted to that door. So, there's no key. But if we had better internet, they could use their phone to unlock the door. Right now, the panel that we have has its own cell signal. Overall, I would recommend ADT to other people.

ADT seemed like it might've been easy to deal with, but it's not. It drives me crazy trying to keep up with the codes and how to get the door closed before the alarm goes off. I didn't realize it was gonna be that complicated. But I like picking your own code. I also like that it's easy to shut it off once if it goes off, and you don't want it to. Right now, my son's been here with me trying to help me get used to it. Now, I'm getting used to it. 'Cause at first, it was going off every time I turn around. But I think I'm gonna like it.
I recommend it. It gives you peace of mind when you leave the house or when you're inside. I'm leery about being home alone sometimes, and that was the reason I got it. My husband's sick a lot, and so, if I'm in the house, I want the protection and to know that if the alarm goes off, somebody is trying to find out what's going on and get there.

I reached a contractor and I thought I was calling ADT. They gave me a plan that they could do for this particular house I needed to put it on. It was a lot of upfront money that they could give me to put in a system and I couldn't make a decision at that time for various reasons. I had several companies in mind and then, ADT called me a couple of more times wanting the appointment. I told the rep I couldn't at that time because I wasn't at that location. They finally called me back and they said they could make an appointment and then, I could just decide.
The money was there so we could use it for equipment and it would be under no obligation. I would pay a small fee and then, we could decide that day. If I didn't want it, there was no money out of pocket and if I did, we would proceed. I hesitantly still didn't wanna do it. I still wasn't in the frame of mind to do it for various reasons but I was there in that area. I almost canceled it but I allowed the young man to come and he discussed with me what all could be done. It took me quite a while to decide. I didn't want a contract at all but knew that I needed some security there.
Based on what the representative went over with me and the way he was listening, he seemed genuinely concerned about what my concerns were and my reasons for needing it there. I discussed it with my husband who wasn't there and we thought that it would be better to go this route instead of with SimpliSafe. ADT has the legal provisions to put up cameras on a property if you had an interior one. The rep educated me on some things and that day I decided to do it because I needed the security there at that property and needed some smoke alarms and things like that tied in. But I would've liked to have known that the rep was a contractor and not with ADT at that time. He has since told me that they have bought that company. So, they are a part of it. Still, I would have liked more upfront transparency as to that.
I wanted a panel that you could see. I was with another company at my other house and with Vivint, you could see everything on that panel. I wanted that because my mom is there and she's older. So, using phones and tablets were not gonna be suitable. If you put in a camera, you wanna be able to see who's coming up the driveway not only with your phone. Also, my mom called me and she had some issues on what we thought were going on and things weren't registering on my phone. It took the rep a week to go back there and I didn't like that because sometimes you need these things to be taken care of right away. My husband and I are military and we were gone, and I can't leave that location all the time. I dealt with it that week but I needed some quickness to resolve my concerns.
Overall, the experience was good. 12 years ago, I was with ADT at that house and the experience was horrible, which was why I never wanted to go back with ADT again. They kept offering and I explained that I had terrible customer service when I had them before. They were so unfriendly that it makes you not wanna even call them for anything. They assured me that the customer service is not like that anymore so that prompted me to try them again. On my first experience, I didn't recommend ADT to anybody but my new experience all these years later has been positive. I would recommend on my new experience.

The ADT advertisement and what they've installed are two different things. They will tell you so many things that you will get for free in their advertisement. Then when we requested them to come and install the system, they said that I could only get this much and I would have to pay for all of those things. So it’s not really a fair game. I was not really satisfied but then they called their supervisor saying that he could give me something but I would have to take it. Otherwise, it would make the house unsecured. So, it’s creating more fear and then trying to sell it. That should not happen. Also, I was in rush at the time so I just selected them.
If I’d tell them that I didn't like the plan, they should not install it. But they were forcing me and creating lots of fear, so I somehow went with that. So now I’m paying a little higher, but I don’t see too much benefit with ADT in securing my home. This house is old and it already has so many installations already. So ADT didn’t install anything special. All windows and everything is installed already. They just put two sensor detectors and two smoke detectors. They also gave two remotes. That was all I got and it was nothing that they really quoted.

My home inspection company contacted me about a discount that they were offering with ADT. For what was included and the discount with our home insurance, the system was at a really good price. The agent I worked with was thorough and informative. The system has been great thus far. If I go somewhere, I know my home will be protected. I'll definitely recommend ADT to friends going forward. They would appreciate the price, equipment and installation process for sure.

A lot of my neighbors in the new neighborhood that I was moving in had ADT signs. I was always kinda curious about ADT so I gave them a call and I felt a little bit more secure with them. The representative that came out was very professional and the equipment is very nice. ADT is a very reputable and professional company and if you can afford to have the system, it's a very good system to have. However, I wound up cancelling it because of a little bit more price competitive system that we came across that had some of the same features. The monthly fee was a lot less.

My husband's gone three weeks at a time and I was nagging him that he had to do something as I'm here with four kids. I have weapons in my home, however, I would least likely like to shoot someone. So, he called ADT, then they called me and we ended up getting their security system. But the guy I talked to over the phone sucked. He told us that it was all going to cost $100 and since my husband wanted to get it done, he wanted to do it that Friday. But I got smacked with a $35 overdraft fee for that. The guy who came out for the installation was great though. He got lost coming to my house, but I didn't know I had to pay him again. So, I had to put it on my credit card. But he was fantastic and he should be selling for ADT, not the guy who did it to me.
So far, I have one sensor and I only use one door in my house, so it works out well for us. I'm sure, in the long run, we'll pick up more stuff. But it took me a day or two to get a hold of how to use the system and I was creeped out after I found out it didn't work a week after they installed it. I was paying for a month, but they didn't do the week. And I was supposed to get some $100 gift card, but I don't even know how to go about that. Other than that, my neighbor next door was over yesterday and she asked me who I went through for my system. I told her I went through ADT and she said she was going to have to look into something like what I got. And I don't blame her because she's old.

I had ADT for a long time when I had my own house before. Now I’m renting a house and I wanna protect my home and chose ADT. I just wanted the minimum payment every month. I saw something at 37.99 online and told the sales rep about it. The rep told me that I could start with that and that they would provide me with everything that I need as long as I sign up and become their customer. So, I did that. When I called customer service to schedule to set the alarm up, they provided me all these things and said they would put the sensor on all the windows.
This tall technician came. When we did all the paperwork, he said that I had to pay 53.99. I was lied to but I understood what the technician tried to do. He explained everything. I told him what the sales rep told me, that they would provide me everything. But when I signed up, the price was different. I don’t understand why it's a different price. I did not have a choice though because I really needed the alarm. I did not have the chance to take care of it and call ADT to report this because suddenly, my grandson passed away. But so far, the system is okay.
Hello Cora- Thank you for continuing to choose ADT to protect you. We are so sorry to hear of the passing of your grandson. Our deepest condolences to you and your family. We are also sorry to hear about the experience that you have had. The monthly monitoring price is based on the level of protection that is chosen. But it shouldn't be taking long for somebody to come to your house and check on these cameras. I don't appreciate that. I spent all this money to get them. The next thing I know, she said it's gonna be the next Monday. I thought that's a bunch of crap. Somebody should be coming out there now to get it taken care of. I don't like my cameras being out when I'm not at home. I spent all this money to make sure my house is secure when I'm out of town.

When I bought my home, my home inspection had somebody from ADT call me, but I wasn't ready to get an alarm then because we had to pay upfront and I had just bought the house. My little brother had got ADT about a month before we did. He got a really good deal where he didn't have to pay upfront, so that was what kind of encouraged me to call back in. Unfortunately, that deal was not available for me, but I still went ahead and got the alarm system.
When you call to make an appointment, the people aren't very upfront and they don't really tell you the process. So, it was a little frustrating because I work from home. They wouldn't give me any packet information because they said that the technicians had to come out and assess, and then tell me what I qualified for, what my house needed, which is understandable. But they just said that they were gonna come out to give me quotes. They didn't say that they were gonna come out and install the same day.
I lost several hours of work because I had to be here with the technicians for over four hours. In my head, it would take 30 minutes to an hour the most. So, I was a little frustrated but I was already an hour or two in, so I didn't cancel it. When they make those appointments, they could be upfront with people and let them know that if we do decide to get it, the appointment can take several hours and they will install the same day. I wasn't prepared to pay for anything upfront other than the $100 that I was told to even make the appointment. I was a little discouraged because now I have to wait until I have the money for my cameras.
I got the system because I had certain credits that they gave me, but I was not able to get the cameras. The whole reason I wanted an alarm was to get cameras, and I ended up with no cameras. Eventually, I'll get them, but they kinda mislead you with that. I was a little disappointed with that. I would've been okay with still making the appointment, but I would've made it on a day where I was not working so it didn't affect me. They don't tell you the amount of time it takes for them to assess, too.
I haven't really used the system. After they installed it, I'm kinda discouraged because I paid extra for a motion sensor, which I'm never gonna use because I do have pets. They said it was for when we're away from the home, so I kind of agreed to it. But then after, it was kind of like they told me that the dog might set it off. So it's like I paid extra for something that I didn't need or I'm never gonna use unless I take the dog with me, which is rare. It's an inside dog. He hardly ever leaves the house other than like walking around. They make you feel like you need it, but you're never gonna use it. I kinda reflected like, "I'm so dumb. I should've never got that." It was just a lot for one session.

The guy that came here was very nice and he was training somebody. But the guy that was training didn't do something right. I wouldn't him go out by himself. He didn't know what he was doing. The other guy didn't go back and check. They did a great job, though. They were very nice and they put everything up that they said they would. I like the system because a lot of times I'm here by myself and my older son will text me to say I forgot to set the alarm. Then he set it right from his phone. The only thing is that I upgraded my internet because it takes so long to load the pictures but it still takes long to load the pictures.
I also like that I can set the system at night. I have dogs and they bark at everything. So I like to be able to know if someone is trying to get in. I can look at the pictures or the alarm will go off. The only thing is the middle part of my back door is glass, so we only got a breaking glass kind of alarm on that door, and it doesn't alarm when I turn the alarm on. So somebody could get in the back door and I'd never know it. We didn't know these things until we got it, so it's not anybody’s fault. I didn't realize that just by it saying breaking glass that it wasn't gonna be monitored when we were away. But it does work because I've dropped the bag of dry dog food on the floor and it said, “Breaking glass.” I like it. I feel safer now. I would recommend ADT and I have to my boss because we have two warehouses that have no security and I'm the only one in there sometimes. Our sales guy, Rob, said that I'd need to call the business part of ADT for that.

ADT is pretty well known. Other people that I've known have ADT and they seem to have a good experience. So that largely drove my decision. Their customer service was fine on the phone. But once they showed up to my home, everything started getting upcharged. That was a not so great experience. They also took a long time to install the system. They seemed to be having problems that day. So, something that should've taken an hour or less took several hours. That was a bummer. But so far, since it's been installed, it seems to be fine. They put sensors on windows and doors and we have like a little touchpad and we have a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector. It is a bit of a bummer that if a window is opened at night, that now becomes a weak spot in the alarm system because that window won't be alarmed.

Then I called their rep and he came and he said, “I don't know why it’s discharging.” Then he figured it out by looking at something that's in the closet. He said it's only 14 volts and he said the doorbell requires 16 to 20. So he said, “You just need to get another one of those things so the voltage is higher." We did and took care of that. The installation with ADT didn’t go well at all. The sensor fell off two hours after installation when I was away. They received an alarm and they called the police, and it was nothing. The next day, I went back to the house and the sensor fell to the floor. I realized it was just very flimsy double-sided tape. I'm surprised that this is standard practice. I called them again and then they said they couldn't come out there to reinstall it until a week later. I said that I was not paying for something that doesn't work. So, I called the technician himself back, thinking that it may be easier for him to just pop back in to reinstall it. He said yes but it took him three days later to make it back. He promised that when he goes back, he's gonna install it with silicone and seal it. He didn't. He went back and brought another double-sided tape. He said it's stronger. I was extremely unhappy about it because it's very hot in California and things fall down because it expands.
ADT has an extremely inflexible policy about anything. At this point, I need to cancel because I'm selling the house again. It happened on my end and it was nothing related to them but I was trying to get some discount on the cancellation fee and they made no attempt to offer any kind of discount nor did they agree for me to transfer ownership to anybody else. It’s bad practice. If I transfer it to the new buyer of the house, and if they want it, they’re happy, I'm happy and then ADT is happy because they keep making money. Now I can't do anything. It was an extremely bad experience with ADT.

That's almost $1,600 a month for four months. But as far as the service, the installation, I don't have any issues. I love that part. One thing that Vivint had that ADT didn't have is when I leave home, normally, if I go out the front door, it would chime on my phone. I spoke with Apple and she explained to me and she made me feel very secure. But it was a complete lie. I didn't know it was a lie. When the technician came, they asked her and the technician installed the thing and I told him that Apple said he could check for me what I needed to be checked. But he told me no and that he didn't do that. I explained to Apple my concern about my ex and she told me that the technician would be able to tell me that. But the technician was not able to tell me that. He told me that I would be able to check if somebody come in or not. My ex is an engineer electronic and even if he could get in, there is a recording of when I turn on and off the system. So I was okay with that.
The day after, when I wanted to check, it was a nightmare because one person sent me to another person, then another person sent me to another person, and one person said I need to go on Alarm.com. I went on Alarm.com and then I called again and told them I have all the recording on my phone. They said, “No, no, no. You need the membership. You need to pay. You cannot go to alarm.com if you don't have a membership.” But why didn't they tell me that first? Then I talked to somebody for more than an hour. I was so upset. I didn't need that. I didn't want another thing to add to my stress. It was terrible.
I sent an email and I didn't get an answer to it. It was Labor Day. Then I called Tuesday the week after Labor Day. I explained to another person again but they have no record of me calling on Thursday, the week before. I said I called more than an hour and I have it on my phone. But they said they didn't have that. Then they said, “But why you let the technician install when you realize Apple lied?” One of them lied and now it has become my problem. I am so angry. But I need to take care of things in priority. I need to finish my test. I need to go for my procedure in the hospital. I don't need this aggravation.

Then when I said I needed to think about it, he said, “We already installed the panel,” and then he made me kinda feel like I had to choose this. Then he came back a couple days later to finish installing everything. I told him I wanted to cancel. I didn't wanna use ADT. ADT is the leading provider in security. The one thing that was a little bit interesting, and I don't know whether that was the same practice with all the others as well, was originally, I was only asking them to come over to take a look and give an assessment. But then, I needed to set up appointments and put a down payment to pay for the installation fee, even though they agreed to reimburse if I decided not to install. I thought that that's and interesting experience and not like any other consumer product providers would do. At the end, they kinda worked it out.
Then the installation went okay. The system is working. It wasn't as what I expected. I used a similar system before. I thought for those window contacts, you have two pieces. One is only to lock and the other one allows you to partially open the window without triggering the events. But this one only have a one piece. I can only have it on lock. If I have open up to this window stoppers, there is nothing there to prevent triggering the alarm. I'm not sure whether it's inserted properly, but it's working when it's closed.
I thought I was dealing with their authorized dealer, Protect Your Home. I thought it's a separate company. Then when the gentleman came for the installation the other day, they are actually bought by ADT, which is interesting but I wasn't aware or it wasn’t mentioned that they are actually part of the ADT. I recently just moved into Slippery Rock. It's like it's out in the middle of nowhere and I got CenturyLink for internet service because it's the only place that services my area. After I set up my service with CenturyLink, they forwarded me over to ADT. They were running a promotion where you get so much amount of equipment for free as long as you pay the installation service. It came out to be $850 worth of service equipment that I got, so it's pretty cool. I talked to one person from ADT and our conversation went really well. I had a lot more of concerns than I think that she was able to help me with. She did transfer me to a manager, and he was phenomenal. I do a lot of customer service in my position as well, and I know it's a hard job.
The service tech worked with me. He listened to the concerns that I had here at my new location. He was great and very personable. He ran into a little bit of an issue trying to install the actual keypad entry in the wall. I was a little bit nervous because he had already put the hole in the wall, but he kept his cool about it. He said, "Well, I already put the hole here, so I'll figure it out." It took him longer than he had anticipated, but he handled himself very well.
My fiancé was here at the time. So they were having their own conversation. The tech made sure that we both understood how everything works. I wasn't able to afford the first offer that he gave me, so he talked to some people and got me some other things. The only reason why I signed up for it was because I wanted the security surveillance video cameras outside. But I don't have a high enough internet upload system here. So he said, "I'm not gonna install you with something that doesn't work." He replaced the security cameras that I wanted with smoke alarms instead. So, it worked out.
Since having the system installed, I feel more safe. At night, especially when I go to sleep, I can set my security system. I did run into an issue with it the other day. It was down for like 48 hours, but I had also lost cell service too through Verizon. They had a big outage. But it's all good. I recommended ADT to a lot of people. It was a very easy setup and transition. It's very affordable for the immediate show up if I were needed to call 911 or there was a fire. It's very quick and it's simple to use that I feel as though anybody at any age could learn how to use it.

I knew the ADT brand name beforehand. When I got my homeowners insurance, someone that I was talking to said that they're partnered with ADT, and they had a special discount if I was referred to them. So I said, “Okay. Well, sure. You’re the one that’s giving my house insurance, so I’ll trust you guys.” On the setup, every question I had was answered right away and in a way that I understood it. When they initially gave me the offer of what they recommended, I was like, “I don’t want that, that, and that.” They didn’t try to say, “Well, we really recommend you have this. And you should do this.” They answered, “Okay. Are you sure? It helps with X, Y, and Z.” When I said, “Yeah, I'm sure,” they said okay. There was no hassle with trying to oversell me things I didn't want. The person who was here was relatable. We listened to the same music. It was super cool talking to someone that’s kinda like just a friend.
The installation was pretty smooth. The tech went around the house and he gave me his recommendations based on the area that we live in like what we should do for our windows. As soon as he installed it, he walked us through every little tiny step even tiny things I wouldn’t even think of. He gave me the number to call and I had a question right after he left, and he picked up and answered it right away. I haven't had any problems with reaching out to them or with the system itself.

The sales team told me about the service and that the installer would come in and offer different packages and what they had to offer based on my needs. It was more of a personal interaction. The installer came and asked me what I was looking for. I told him and then I showed him an offer. He explained to me that the offer did not cover if I just wanted the movement or a certain type of sensor. I have the option of going with that offer or I can go with a better option, the one that includes both. He offered the alternative and what would be convenient for us. We chose based on the recommendations that he made and what we thought were in our best interest. They did the install on the 1st of the month but I still haven't gotten the Visa card they promised.
We thought the doorbell camera we got was a full HD camera but it's not. It’s an HD camera, which is 720. It’s not what we call a 1080, which is a full HD camera. Our doorbell camera, that’s what I thought we were getting, but we got a 720. We did have an issue when they installed it. I called them and they fixed it. But we keep having issues with it. Plus, with the application that they're using, it gets delayed. The software that they're using with that is very poor. We had to opt in to a video package, which cost us more than $500, but we're not satisfied with them. So I’m about to give them a call today to see what they're going to do to compensate me for that because I'm getting better quality from a Wyze camera that I bought at my local computer store.
When I get the message that there's an alert, it takes them about a good 30 seconds and by the time I got through the door, the person has already left. So if they were there to do any harm or steal something, they would have done it. It doesn't really make you feel secure if you have to leave something over if somebody’s standing there because of the delay that's happening when it syncs up with the software. So I may be better off getting one of those cameras that you install it yourself and it records. Because the doorbell camera really is not the best that they have. The interface itself is not the best. It’s overrated. I'm very dissatisfied.

The reps helped with everything, including with the management. I told them that I’m retired and I had an income and that I get paid every first of the month. They said they work with retired military and critiqued everything to get everything settled. Even when the tech came out, it was great. He worked around and he told me where the best coverage would be. He explained to me about everything, including carbon monoxide, the equipment, and how the windows worked. He said, “Oh, yeah. The vibration, it’ll set it off.” Usually they put two packs in a window, and we got one that does the exact same thing. When someone opens a door when they’re not supposed to or they break the window, they’ve caught it.
It’s great that I can add people on and take them off. It's also great that I could sit there, and if somebody’s at the door, I can look at the camera and I can also open our door. My wife has anxiety and depression as well, so if I'm leaving somewhere, she can set the alarm and she can lock the door. Last night, she said, “Oh man, I forgot to lock the door.” I said, “You forgot to lock the door?” I looked right on my phone. We were watching our show and while I was sitting there, I locked the door and set the alarm. I did everything in the comfort of my own bed. When I was younger, my grandfather used to have ADT in his house and it came in handy through a lot of ways too.

I’m blind, and even though there are other companies, they don't have the customer support. Most of them are just online. So if I have a problem, then they don't come to my house. The guy that came out was nice and pleasant. The installation was easy. The people just came out to the house and put it in. I have a $100 gift card, but I don't know how to get it because they email everything. That's one drawback. I thought when I got the system, they just mailed it automatically, so I have to figure out how to get that.

I did some research and I liked all that ADT offered, which was quite a bit more than the other companies. I felt a little more secure with everything that they do. It was the correct family of security for me. The experience has been wonderful and more like family. They don't treat me like they don't know who I am and not like a number, and not that they got a good sale. It was very heartfelt. The installation was marvelous and the young man who came was very sweet. I'm rather old and when I saw him, I hoped that there was no communication gap. There wasn't at all and he was very patient with me. I asked him several times the same question because I have a hard time processing at my age. He never once barked at me or never made me feel anything but like a good human being.
To this day, sometimes I call and ask. I would say I forgot what he said and how to do things again but he has never made me feel like I was stupid or that I don't deserve this ADT or that I should’ve gone with somebody else. He has never made me feel like I'm bothering him. He put little installations on all my doors, windows, even my shed outside and my garage. So, he was here for a while. I never even saw him get anxious or anything with me. Every time he put one of those little things, I asked questions such as why something was there, what he was doing a thing for and what a thing was gonna do. Never once did I feel that he was anxious about the same question over and over. When we sat back down and he was explaining everything to me about the machine, he had to do that maybe three times because I couldn't grasp it completely. He never once said, "Geez," or anything.
I'm getting better and better in using the system and I have nothing to complain about. I love it. It tells me when I open the door, and when I walk in and out of the doors. It reminds me that the front or back door is open. So then, I go and lock it again or leave it open, whichever, because now I feel more confident with the system. Before, I felt like I was in jail because I had to keep everything locked and always just afraid. And so with this system now, I'm a little more free with myself. It soothes my soul to where I'm not so afraid of every little noise. Even my cat likes it. When I open the door, he looks at it right away and approves. I am totally, completely and in every way satisfied. I would recommend it to every and anyone who feels they need the system. This is the one for you because it is marvelous and I would like to thank ADT from the bottom of my heart.

The technician did a good job of explaining it and it was a simple system to operate. I like it. The main thing that we got it for was for protection. There’s a lot that’s going on in the world today and the cameras were really important to us so that I can see the front door and back door, especially if we’re out of town. When I go to bed at night and I turn off the motion detector, I feel very secure knowing that if someone tried to get in, we’ll be notified. Also, if a fire broke out or something caught fire, we know that we got that as well.

I wanted to own the home and get settled and figure out what I was gonna spend money on. They were saying that I was gonna get free equipment and I just needed to go ahead and schedule the time. It was gonna be $100. They pushed too hard as opposed to saying they would call the day after I close and schedule. They wouldn't relent and it was a "do it now" to the point where I told them I was busy and I couldn’t do it. So, it was a little too hard as a sale.

I've known about ADT since I was a young girl in my teen years. I came to be a customer because I worked for the city of Ocean City, New Jersey, and they gave us these weekly discount type things through LifeSmart. I was thinking about getting cameras anyway because I had had an altercation with one of my neighbors. I happened to be kind of in the market for it. Everything with ADT has been pretty good so far. I love the fact that I can access my camera at any given time in the day no matter if I'm home or not. I love that I can access it on my phone at any time. That's very convenient. It makes me feel better because I have young teenage kids. I have a 13-year old and 11-year old that stay home right now because of school not being open. So, they do their schooling at home and I still gotta go to work. It's nice that I can check in on at least the outside of the house at any given time to make sure that there's nothing going on outside. They even come and talk to me through the cameras. It's really funny. But that's very convenient and it's a great feature.
The only thing that I find that I'm having an issue with is I can't figure out how to shut off the notifications. I just get text messages like 1,000 times a day. But my experience has been great. The system is a failsafe and although we haven't been out of town, it's nice having the motion sensors camera, the doorbell motion sensor and the door lock that works there. The only issue I had was that the sensor didn't line up properly when I changed the locked on my front door. But that is due to me and the previous homeowner's fault. I wasn't aware that it pretty much had tape on the back of it. I called up ADT to ask whether or not I could take it off myself without breaking anything. I like their dependability, their longevity in the marketplace, and the fact that I don't trust a damn person out there in the world. I like to hold everybody accountable that I can. Over the phone, I spoke to a very nice individual who gave me a lot of information, and we had a very pleasant conversation. Although come to find out when it came time for install, the advertisement that I called on behalf of was blatantly misleading. So it was starting at 27.99 a month. When the installer came out, he said, "Yeah, we don't even offer that. That's not even saying. The minimum is 36.99." He was trying to offer me 53 and 56.99 a month because I wanted video cameras. I said, "Well, I can't afford that right now. We'll just have to upgrade later."
Apparently, ADT's 36.99 plan was phasing out the day that the gentleman came to my house. So he convinced his boss to let me have the 36.99. I told him, "I might have to send you on your way if I can't get it down below 40 a month. If I'm paying 50 plus a month, I can't afford it." Granted their gonna give me $3,000 worth the equipment for free versus the $1,700 that I was promised, but at the same time, that's still $53 a month. He said, "Okay, well, if I can get it to $36.99 a month, would you be able to do it?" I said, "Yeah. But I can't do it." These advertisements going through the circulars saying starting at $27.99 a month are horridly misleading.
As far as the system, I got a glass break sensor, door sensors, shock sensors for the windows, motion detector, an outdoor siren, and then the LCD panel. The system performs well. My one complaint, if I had to have one, would be the options for the door chimes when your doors open. You gotta get garage door, front door, back door, sliding door, windows, or whatever it opens, and it lets you know what’s open when you open it. It's keeping you aware of who's going in and out of your home while it's in lock. The only other option is an audible chime. But it's not like a doorbell charm where it's like, "Ding-dong," or "Ding." It's, "Ding, ding, ding." It's like this three-second chime and it's the most obnoxious thing in the world that we've just turned it off and said, "Screw it."
My parents had Protection One which is another subsidiary of ADT as well. Their panel is the big LCD panel and they're only paying 30 bucks a month and they've got twice the crap we do. They've also got the full-color touchscreen panel. They've got all sorts of different little chimes and beeps and dings for all the different doors in the house. I'm like, "Well, that'd be really flipping great." I'm hoping when I can afford to upgrade the system to the full touch panel and go full automation in the home that I'd be able to have those features.
It just gets obnoxious to have just those two options and be able to just hear a ding that are distinct for each of all the doors that lead out to the exterior of the home. I'd like that because I'm an armed security officer out here in Tennessee. I like being aware of my surroundings and who's going and who's coming. I'm just one of those leary people. I'm satisfied with ADT. I feel more comfortable in the home. Being a newer homeowner, I've lived in apartments and I've had the SimpliSafe systems, and I've always had a security system wherever I've been. You can never be too careful. Knowing what's open and what's closed in your home and any sort of potential intrusion is always nice to be aware of.
Garrett- We'd like to congratulate you on your new home and are sorry for to hear of this unacceptable situation during the installation! We would love to assist you further in addressing your concerns with the system if you could please contact our team directly at 1-800-238-2727.

I am moving to Denver, Colorado for six months. I just retired and I'm leaving my house for the next six months. My daughter from Colorado wanted me to call ADT and install an alarm. That's what she has and she's pretty satisfied with it. The individual that came out was very good, pleasant, and professional. He knew what he was giving me instructions for and telling me about the product. He was wearing his mask as soon as he was by my door and throughout the explanations as we were across each other by my dining room. I offered him something to eat and he said, "No." He had to finish all the instructions and that they're not allowed to be eating. But he said that he'd take the water for the road.
My only concern is that I had one of my girlfriends install the ADT two days ago and she got a $100 Visa gift, and it was not offered to me, and I'm paying 2,700 something for full protection. I didn't understand that. Then I encountered a problem. I was trying to look at my login information and it would not accept my username. I don’t know if I put in another one because, during that process, I also had difficulty doing that. So, I'm not sure if I remembered what I put in.

My daughter set up my security system. The guy that came out and did the installation didn't tell me that the first month’s bill was due upfront. That kinda threw me off. There was also a gift card that was offered. One customer service rep said I wasn't getting it because it was credited to my bill. I called and another person said I had to wait 14 days. But I still haven't got the gift card. Other than those, I like the service. When I have issues, ADT takes care of what I need to be done. I pull their app up on my phone and I had it on the desktop computer too. But something was wrong with my password. I tried everything and it said it sent an email to me but I never got it.

The sales rep has been helpful. He answered all my questions. It was great. The installer came to set up the system for us. We asked him a few questions, which he answered. He told us about the program and the equipment that ADT offered. He also brought them inside for us to look through and pick whatever we wanted. I'm satisfied with the customer service that I get so far. If they keep that up, they will have me as a customer for a long time. I’m impressed so far.

I had ADT before for three years in an old apartment. But I cancelled it and moved. This time, I got the shatter sensor, and the sensors for the doors and windows and whatever came with their package. The installer did everything right. He had his mask and everything on. He showed me how to work the system and what everything does. I call to make sure if they would answer or not. There was a time when I had the system on long Stay. My son dropped something and the system made a loud noise. I was in the shower and I didn’t really hear it until after. And then, they called after I put the code in.

I liked the amount that ADT's system was being offered for as well as the services they provided. The features of the system I got are fine and I like how efficient the alarms are.

ADT's reps are friendly and the installers were cool. They were good people. The only thing is I have a lot of trouble when I get an alert if the cameras detect motion. It takes at least about two minutes to get the camera to show on my phone. By that time, they're already out of the camera. I have the app on my phone, but I hardly get on it because it's kind of pointless to me for the cameras when I get an alert that somebody is at my door, but by the time I can finally see it, they're already gone. Other than that, the system is good because as soon as I opened the door, I get an alert on my phone. If somebody disarms the alarm, I get a notification alert on my phone.

I heard ADT is good. My Chase card gave me $75 back with using them, and they gave me a good deal, so I just went with them. The reps were great. They got it together good, and they were fast and able to get things made up fast. If you've got any problems, they take care of you good, so no worries there.

I feel a little bit better with ADT. Our interaction with the sales rep was very nice. The installer was very nice too. He tried to find the best plan for us. I like the system ‘cause I can take my phone with me and fix it on my phone. The man that put the system in set it up for me so I can use it.

The Protect Your Home and ADT sales rep was very polite and very helpful. He was pretty good at describing everything and how it functions. Then, the installer came by. He introduced himself and showed me the equipment first. Then he told me what was going to happen with the installation. We did a walk around of the house so he could kinda do the survey and see what all he was gonna need to do and we went through a list of all the equipment. Once he has finished, he gave me a walkthrough on how each of them functions, the main control panel, and how to arm/disarm and change some of the settings. Everything was set and we were good to go.
The package we were set up with was good. It does everything that we asked because we wanted something to alert us if there are any issues. It's a really flexible system. There's a lot of things we can add or take off of it to kinda cater to what we need. I’m pretty comfortable with it. One of the main reasons I was interested in it is because in the military, I travel a lot. If I'm gone and leaving my wife here or if we're all gone, it's good to have that additional peace of mind.

My favorite feature of the ADT system is the doorbell. But the keypad has taken me a little bit to get used to it. I went with the better keypad. Then there's really no difference between arming the system to stay and arming it to be away. I'm also not really crazy that in order to shut off some of it, you either turn the volume down really low or stuff like that. Other than that, everything has been great. The ADT sales representative was great. He was also the one that did the installation.

I have a new house in a new area. I figured an alarm system would be a good idea to do. ADT gave me a pretty good deal for installations and it would have been crazy to turn it down. The installer was a really swell guy and he got everything installed. He was here for an hour and a half and he did a really great job. He also did a very good job of showing everything off. He was pretty responsible too given the pandemic. System-wise, the handy little touchpad is pretty nice and really convenient to use. I also use the smartphone app.

I already had ADT's system in the house from the previous owner. However, I wanted just the cheap 27.99 a month deal. But for some way, I got talked into the 53 something deal. I didn't want to pay that much a month. Other than that, if I didn't feel more secure, I would not keep it.

I just recently purchased my home and I had a home inspection with a company that hooked up with Porch and two other services that they paid for. I called through Porch and they connected me over to ADT. During the initial set-up, we didn't discuss any of the features. It wasn't until the actual person came out to our home where we began discussing the options and what I could have put into the home. The person was excellent and very professional. He did the work and got it set up. We had a small hiccup but that wasn't his fault. We just didn't have WiFi at home.
We had some communication issues after the tech left with having some additional service come out. But today, everything seems to be resolved. We’ve been getting along with the system fine and they’re giving me peace of mind. The experience could’ve been better but the system has been very helpful for me because I stay at home at night by myself, so I have no worries at all about my family of being in the house at night. So, I feel very secure knowing that the system is in place.
