I was trying to get internet and the internet company referred me to ADT. Their sales person was good. I'm not happy with the window shocks though. The second the windows are open, the whole alarm system is triggering. I called on Friday to the agent that came in and installed them, he said he'd call me back. Here it is, Monday, I've not yet heard from him.

The system was acting a little funny but now it’s getting better. It’s working properly. I was waiting to see if any issue happened again so I would call. But so far, it’s okay. I like the system because it makes everything feel a little bit more comfortable. Sometimes I’m not home and I feel my family feels much better about it.

I spoke to a lady from ADT and she went through their program. I put in a $99 fee and they sent somebody to my house to go over everything ADT offers. He installed my system and he did great.

I haven't been happy about ADT. When they put the things in, that was fine. However, I did not like that the person who installed said that I couldn't touch the pad and that he signed my name for me, which was not right. It doesn't look like my signature at all. He said that's the way that they're doing it. The contract thing was sent to me by email. It wasn't completed yet until after the system was put in. Then I saw something that was on there that I should not have been charged for because that was not put in my house. I called immediately and spoke to the company that puts it in. I found that there are two separate companies. This woman on the phone put me on hold and called out to the installer who then said, "You're right. I didn't put that in there. I'll take that out." They haven't taken it out. I had to call and call to finally get to somebody because the number on the business card that I was given wasn't going through.
When I finally got to them, one lady was very rude. Another man was very rude too. I kept saying, "I need a new contract. Those need to be removed." He said, "We're never gonna remove them. We'll reimburse you after we have someone come from the company to check out the installment, all the stuff. And then we will remove it if we find it's not there."
I'm going through all this. Then I have to wait and be here the whole day waiting for them to come. The man who came was very nice and very professional. He told me, "You're right. It isn't here." However, that still has not been removed from the bill. Getting ahold of someone to get that information hasn't been good. Then finally, I ended up again with the person who I was having a lot of trouble with and he insisted they will never take that off the bill. He said I need to quit asking for that and that I need to quit asking for a new contract that doesn't have that on it because that's never gonna happen.
However, we knew it was the truth from the get-go. I called in to say that and they agreed that it was. The person who installed the system agreed that it was. It's just that they never took a further step. So now, I'm still here. It still has not been taken off and returned to me, and I was debating because the latest person who came said I could call and ask for an upgrade above because the person who was giving me such a hard time was his manager. I can go above that and say, "I need to file this." He said, "You should get a new contract. They always give new contracts."
I'm getting these mixed messages from one person to the other. One was not so nice. I do not have the new contract I should have. I did get to make a sort of signature with the last person who was here. However, it's not on the contract. It was only for him coming and having been here and done the work to show that those things that I was charged for were not here. The security system works, however, the process when I hit any error is not working.
Hello Candace. Thank you for sharing this experience with us and we are so sorry for all of the frustration. Could you please advise what item(s) you should not have been charged for so we can review further with the local installation team on your behalf? Thank you. -Andrew

My grandson got ADT, and then I just checked into it from there. It's well known and it has been serving for so many years. We just got it the 1st of October, but it's working well. I thought the camera was in the package, but then when the young man came, he said it wasn't. Other than that, I've been telling everyone about ADT and that I feel safer having it. It's a good system.

I called ADT and told them I wanted to cancel the service because I can’t afford to pay right now for this system. They took out a $99 down and $65 for the monitor to be activated, which I was aware of. But it says ADT for $989 and all that money got off from my American Express card. I went ballistic because that's too much money. They said it was for the equipment or something. I told them I don't appreciate them taking the money off my card like that and that I want my money back. I called my credit card people and told them I did not authorize that particular amount of money to be taken. It’s a terrible way to start off a good business and I don’t wanna do business with them if they’re going to operate like that. Also, I didn't know they had other people handing their stuff, the Home Defender people.
Hello Marcus. We apologize for this frustrating experience. We've located your account and due see the purchase amount for the installation was listed on the Dousign contract that you signed and agreed to. Please note that all customers, ADT corporate and ADT North (Home Defender) have 3 days to cancel the signed agreement without any early termination charges from the date of installation. Since you are over that 3 day period, any early termination chares would be applicable. If you need another copy of the signed agreement, please contact ADT at 1-800-238-2727 or log on to MyADT.com. There were a lot of good things about ADT. It's the best camera I've had in my lifetime. I enjoy that I can hear voices. The quality is really good. However I had a few issues. The first time the installer came out, everything was fine. He was very nice and accommodating. He showed me how to do everything. But I didn't realize that once the lights go out, I wouldn't be able to see outside the window with the camera inside my home. It really wasn't the installer's fault, but I was a little frustrated because I had to wait for almost three weeks just for them to come back and put one camera, which was the most important camera because it was in the front of my house. They did not give the right information to whoever was coming back out because they didn't even know that they needed to bring a camera.
I had to wait too long. The priority for existing clients is not there. As a new customer, if I call today and say I wanna add a new service, ADT is literally out the next day. That should go for any existing clients as well. They said they were gonna prorate it, but nobody ever called me back. I don't even know if it's gonna be prorated. But at this point, I'm just happy that all my cameras are working fine.

As far as the techniques or the way the ADT sales and all this stuff go, it's like a bait and switch. We got this call saying we could get this for 27 something then we gotta pay the $99 plus the tax which was no problem. But once the guy got here and we were looking at everything that was on the card, he didn't say that we had to pay 299 for the little camera that they offered after installation. Then they were talking about the thing that goes in the room and that's another 299. They went around and counted windows and said that these are how many windows is gonna be.
At one time, they actually tried to talk me into spending $1,084 a month for the next three months, which at that time, I told them no. The guy that came in installed the system and had a nice attitude, but after a while, with the way he was talking to me, he was going back to being more money. Finally, we told him what we wanted, they made it sound like two remotes came with it, but only one comes with it. We ended up getting the scanners in the area so somebody coming two to three feet in the room would set the alarm off, plus they gotta get through the door for the alarm to come off. All the time we were talking that this is a good deal, we ended spending up 106 plus an additional $99.
When they sent their survey out, it had many questions and basically, it took 20 minutes. They asked a question about it and by the time I put all the stuff that I felt, and that I won't recommend them to anybody, the whole nine yards, all of a sudden, instead of being more than one question, it ended right there saying, "This is the end of the survey. Thank you." If I hadn't signed on the bottom line, I think it's like 36 months, they would be taking this stuff out of my house. They also promised the $100 Visa card and we ain't seeing anything.
The guy said that I gotta give them a debit card number and they would bill me in the next three days. I said no and told them that I wanna see a bill before I give them because the way we pay our bills is once we know what the monthly payment is gonna be, then we'll set it up. I called into the office and explained it to the girl. She said that it was no a problem. She'll change it from the way the guy had it set up to where they would send me a bill. I'm still waiting for it. I figured if they did it the 29th, and I guess the first month ain't over the 29th of this month so it should be coming pretty soon.

Porch.com referred me to ADT for security purposes. It has been around for years and I also have family members that also recommended them. The agent was great, very knowledgeable, informative and super patient with all my questions. The installation was fairly quick. As he was doing the installation, he would tell me what each thing was for. At the end of it, he showed me how to use the alarm system and how to disable and enable it while I was away. The system is working perfectly fine. It’s definitely meeting my needs.

We had a little bit of an issue with ADT, but it wasn't anything anybody did. With the way the builder installed the blinds, when you would open the window, it hit it, so it set the alarm off, but we got it all fixed and it's okay. ADT's sales team was fine. The day that we had the installation, there was a little mishap but the sales team reached out and took care of it. Somebody who had an appointment canceled and the installer came over and did the install. He was polite and nice as well. The only thing we had to fix was the price, and the girls in the office and billing were all fine.

I wanted to secure my house and people say it's a good option with ADT but this is the worst company in the world. All they gave me was one glass break detector and two door sensors. And the glass detector would go off every single time I close the door. Never sign the contract with ADT because whenever the installer goes to your house, they're gonna involve you in the contract and if you don't call within the three days they give you, they would never cancel the contract and you are stuck with it for 36 months. I called a day after the three days they gave and they never canceled my contract. They told me there's nothing they can do until after three years.

I like how ADT is a full-time monitoring system. They were easy to work with. It was simple and quick. For the most part, it made things a little easier. The initial purchase was fairly easy. It was very one-on-one with the customer service through the call center. The tech they sent out was really good. He was very punctual and pretty on it. The only thing that bugs me is when I get a notification, it sends it three times. One from the app, one text, and one email. That's a bit overkill. I need to call and see if they can take some of that down a little bit because I don't need three notifications. But other than that, I don't have any issues with the system.
One thing that they were not very clear about when I purchased it is the upcharge on the equipment. They didn't make it clear to me that there would be a several hundred dollar charge to be made for the equipment on the day that it's installed. I thought it was $100 installation fee and then I'd be paying monthly after that. In total, if they had broken it up into the four months that they were gonna offer me for the upgraded system, it would've been $500 a month, and then the $50 service fee on top of it. If I was a little more aware of that, I would've either prepared for it or waited.
Hello Milo- Thank you for choosing us for security protection! We are so glad to hear that your experience was easy and enjoyable. We are so sorry to hear that the charges were not clarified with you. We will review this internally and take the opportunity to improve.

I used to have ADT in Pennsylvania. With every place that sells a product, you gotta go through this and then speak to a manager, if that's gonna make a difference, to give you so much money. And then when they get here, it's a whole different story. That part never changes and I don't like that because the consumer wants to know what they are getting and be honest up front. It's not just ADT. It's all of them. We use our system just for the chime and the doors. The chime is a little slow. But other than that, it's fine. I'm getting used to it.
Deborah, thank you for reaching out. We appreciate your feedback. If assistance is needed using the system or activating chimes etc, please know our team is avail 24/7 by calling 1 800 238 2727. Thank you!- Tim L

When I called ADT and made my appointment, it went really great. They gave us a lot of promotions and things like that. The rep said she was giving our system for free and I figured that I would spend $300 or so on extras. But I kept asking the price on things and I couldn't get them out of her, which should've been my first clue. She said I would have to get that from our installer. That was the answer every time I would ask what the price was on something, which is something that should be known by the person who's making that appointment.
Also, the whole deal is when their guy comes out and you don't use the promos they gave while he's there, the promos are no good, which is fine. But had I known the process beforehand, I would not have had to make an impulse decision. And had I known ahead of time what kind of money I was looking at coming out, I would've put this off until January. It has changed the way that I will spend for Christmas simply because I was not able to budget prepare for it. I did not want to lose those promotions and that's the only reason I went ahead with it.
Other than that, everything was great. The installer was very friendly and very cordial when he came out. He wore his mask, he got in, and he did his business. He was late, which was okay. But we set the appointment for an afternoon and I didn't realize that it was going to take so much time. The poor guy left around midnight. We were very satisfied with him.
I love the feature of the system where we can arm and disarm it from the phone. We came in the other night and it was pouring down rain. Our alarm was armed and my husband was able to disarm it on his app and get us in, which is gonna be great during cold weather. I like the key fob feature as well. It's a favorite of mine.

My parents have ADT. I grew up in a home with the ADT system and I always feel secure with ADT in the house. I like that there's an option to turn on the security system when you're in the house as well as when you're away. Just because I have dogs. I like that I can turn on my security system when I leave. The only negative experience that I've had so far, was when the guy installed our system, we had to call back two weeks later because we realized that if our alarm went off, no one was calling us. It wasn't installed properly. We had to do a whole test, which should have been done when it was first installed. I will recommend ADT, but they should make sure that the installation was done properly.

I started working full-time away from home before now. I've always been home every day. We got three kids. I wanted peace of mind, more than anything. And then, I chose ADT because it's obviously probably the most well-known company. Looking back though, after my experience with them, I wouldn't do it again. Customer service was fairly easy. Online, everything said free, free consultation, this and that. But nothing was free. And then, when the guy came out, we scheduled the appointment on a Monday, but he came out on Wednesday. He was very pushy. He wouldn't give us time to think about anything. Literally sat at my table until we made a decision. It was weird. We have the top of the line, like Mercedes-Benz of systems. He came in, with us thinking that this is just a consultation. He left with us spending eight grand. Do your homework. Don't set up an appointment until you know you're ready to do something.

ADT's overall package sounded irresistible. I didn't see any company or packages that I liked better. I had a serviceman here and I told him that in theory, their arrangement was ideal for me. My layout was the three doors to my house were protected and there was a motion detector on my first floor. I had two outbuildings that I wanted motion detectors in. But when the installer came out, he threw me his pitch. If I went along with it and if I liked what he had to say, then we were gonna do the contract right there on the spot. I did that. I loved everything that was offered to me, in theory.
But it turned out that it was not gonna work out for my outbuildings. Those two spots were equally important as my house to get protected. I've got a lot of equipment in there. I noticed right away after installation last Monday that the motion detectors in the outbuildings weren't working. I called in for assistance and they sent a technician out today to take a look at it. That's when I got the news that there's nothing ADT can do to protect those outbuildings. The guy that was just here left 10 minutes ago. He talked to his manager and one other person, explaining the situation. He said he was gonna make notations on the service call on the record specifying exactly what happened.
Now, I'm in a quandary as to whether I should try to adapt to the notion that I'm only gonna get one-third of what I was expecting to get or just cancel the whole thing. I'm sure that I'll be totally reimbursed if I decide that the system's not gonna work for me, so that's not a concern. It's just that I'm very disappointed that it's not gonna work out for me. But I'm happy with everything I know about the company now and everything I know about the system. I'm very pleased with the whole deal. But whether or not I can accept the situation as it is, I'm still reeling from the bed notes.

Everybody from ADT was pretty good. The rep explained everything properly. But I requested for one thing and the guy that came upgraded me. I was so overwhelmed with the sales pitch and the whole thing and I just needed it done. I really didn't wanna be talked into being upgraded because at the time, moving into a new place was kind of scary. In situations like mine where I'm a single grandparent, caring for two grandchildren alone, I understand the safety end. But the budget end was extremely important so I might end up backing some of it off. I understand the upgrade and that they have to get the commission. But letting us know that they'd be here for us if we wanted to upgrade would've been better.

As far as the system, the door sensors are my favorite. I also really like the light module that it can turn on and off certain times a day, and that you can control that from the phone app. If I'm not home yet and it's dark, I could turn that light on from another place in town before I get home.
The installation was very smooth. It took a little longer than I thought, but it's definitely been worth it. The dude that came, Chris, was really nice and did a really good job explaining everything and all the different options. I didn't feel like he was trying to sell me something just to sell me something. It was based on truly what would be best for my house and the setup, which was appreciated. It's been a really good process. Scheduling to come get it set up was easy. If you look online, it can be overwhelming, but having the person come and explain everything was really helpful. ADT is the first home security system I've had that's subscribed to a call center. The sales rep and the technician was the same person. I was told that he would be here between eight and nine o'clock. He drove about an hour to get here and he was here at 8:02. He did very good. He had to mount my keypad. I specifically wanted wireless cameras and he said all he had were wired cameras and they were very expensive. So, I opted not to get them and just got the monitoring system. The next day, ADT blue cameras popped up online. They're a wireless camera system that ADT offers. So that was strange.
Just looking at the prices for the ADT blue system, the cameras are expensive. There's a ton of camera systems out there now and all their cameras are probably $50 a piece. They're good indoor-outdoor cameras and ADT cameras are about 200 bucks a piece, even for the wireless and wired ones. But the yard sign is always a good feature. People see the yard sign and they get scared. Also, I like the app. I'm a full-time paramedic at two separate departments and I work 24-hour shifts. So, I'm away from home for a quite bit at night. Being at home, I want a little extra added security. My wife set it off the morning after I got it installed. The next morning at five o'clock, ADT called and said that the police were already en route to my house. They asked if I wish for them to continue and I asked if the alarm has been accidentally set off. The system works and I'm very satisfied so far.

ADT is actually more expensive than Comcast was. But because I had it years ago, I thought it would be more effective and easier for me to do. However, my alarm went off three times in the last week, not even three or four days. There's something wrong. I'm also supposed to be receiving two Visa cards, and a $204 check, and I'm waiting for it. I had to come up with the money that day. The installer was wonderful and good. I'm just disappointed because evidently it's not working right. I'm gonna call them up.

My husband and I were looking into security systems. Then my husband died two months ago so I figured that it was time. I didn't feel safe being by myself. So I went with ADT. Their rep knew what he was doing and saying. I was happy that it was done on that day instead of having to redo again. As far as being on time, he couldn't have been any closer to the time. He said between 11:00 and 12:00 and he was exactly here at 11:00. He was a great person to work with. He also didn't pressure me and I had the option of taking the system or not. But I did not get some ADT signs which I needed. I have a house up north and I like to have ADT up there too. But when I called them, they said that I could not have that under the ADT type that I have down here. They said that there was no ADT available up there. So I ended up getting an ADT Blue.

I had a quick phone call with ADT's sales rep to set up the installation of my system. I told him what I wanted and he said it wouldn't be a problem. My appointment was set up two days later. However, the gentleman who did my install was very new to the job. I explicitly told him to come after 9 o'clock as I work at nights as that would give me a chance to get five to six hours of sleep before I had to get up. He came in at quarter to 8.
My system couldn't be simpler. I wanted three cameras, two shock sensors, and a control panel. It took the installer 14 hours over two days to finish the installation. One of my cameras is at the side of my house below a second-story window. The installer told me he wouldn't get on the roof so I had to install the camera myself with him inside doing the wiring. He left a mess in my house. He took everything out of the entry foyer and left things sitting in my living room. He didn't put anything back.
The Sunday after he finished, all of our cameras stopped responding. I had to call ADT again and Tuesday was the soonest they could get to my location. The first installer had installed a wifi extender and the tech who came on Tuesday said that wasn't even close to being enough to support my cameras. We wound up having to get three more network extenders to get all my cameras on wifi. Overall, ADT's products are fine. The issue was with their tech who either wasn't properly trained or hasn't done enough jobs to know what he is doing.

I bought what I had and got everything I was supposed to have as far as my equipment in the house. He said I just had a basic alarm. He wasn't too helpful. I asked if he could call ADT but in the end, I asked him for the number and I had to call them myself. I was told that he didn't have everything that he said he had. Everything got corrected though.
The installer also didn’t show me anything about my system like the ambush code. But I had an alarm before so I kinda knew what to do. You have an ambush code where you can hit certain numbers if you’re supposed to turn the alarm off when you’re ambushed. All in all, everything is good. I like having the protection in the house. When you’re in the house, you hit "stay". You hit "away" when you get ready to leave.

The Protect Your Home installers showed up on the time they had said and they were very knowledgeable of the system. They walked us through it and they were very professional. They cleaned up and they took everything with them. One thing that we are concerned with is the initial thing that got us interested was the 27.99 plan but we learned that for 27.99, if something happens after a year, they're not gonna come out and replace anything.
I was really let down with that because we went into this thinking we were gonna pay one thing and we were kind of set on that. Then they want a three-year agreement from us but they kinda wanna drop us after a year and we still have to pay two additional years for monthly service. At least they could come out and fix the equipment if something happens to it for three years while we're with them. We were to made to feel like we had to bump up in price so that we could continue the warranty for another two years. Also, one thing that we were surprised at was a week after we had our service up hooked up, we already got our first bill. We thought it would be like a month-by-month basis. And it's real high service. We thought it was gonna be a certain amount and then it just kept rising up from there. It's expensive for us. I know that they will do a great job at protecting us but they could do a little bit better as far as their offers are concerned.

Half an hour later, we finally wrapped up the phone call. It was disturbing to me and I never found out anything about pricing. She just pushed me to set up an appointment. I was not happy with that experience.
Their installer was a nice guy and I appreciated him but the initial price he gave me was crazy. The more I thought about it, the more I thought that it's ridiculous to pay that much. Somehow, I was looking for something through AT&T and bumped into ADT. The difference with other providers may have been that ADT is monitoring what's going on and that's more what I was looking for. I like having the confidence that the St. Louis Metropolitan Police would be there. That's my favorite.
The only thing is, I wanted the notifications to come to my phone every time a door is opened in my home. They told me how to do it, but I haven't done it this moment. It may be a lot at times and I'm not gonna want that the whole time, but I want that for now. I got the system on a home that I'm rehabbing, so I'm not necessarily there. The installation was a little bit difficult because the rep explained to me something how to activate it and how to activate it with the control, but after that I was so confused. After seven days, I forgot the tracking. But then, they called me from the company and asked what happened and if everything was okay. I asked them what was wrong and they said the seven day pass was already activated. But I didn't understand. So I called the next day and they gave me completely different information than what the rep gave me. He always gave me the password, the code number, and number one. They told me that he was fired. So they gave me the code number and number one. Then the other one, number two. The other thing is number three. It was confusing.
I explained to the rep that the first person made it so easy because he told me only number one, number one, number one for the pin to put it to "Away", to "Stay. Everything was number one. She told me number one is for one thing, number two is for another one, and three is for another one. The first person explained to me something about press both and what they control. But she told me something different. She told me only one. One is the stay away, and one is the home. I learned what she told me because I wrote it down on the keyboard. So I follow her now. I know my password, but I have to always look to put the number that she told me now. Before, it was only one number. Now it's three numbers.
The rep that came to my home was a great person. The price at the beginning was full payment and it was too much money. I told him that I didn't wanna pay that amount. So he kept working and working and working and he talked with somebody and the payment went down. They said it would be two payments now and less money to pay. I pay three years contract and it’s still a lot of money every month. that money is a lot of money.
The whole house is protected except for the front door. I asked the rep if he could do something for it. He said he could put another alarm on the door and it would be $27 more. But that was too much money. Right now, I pay $36 and it's too much money. I also asked him if there was any way he could put the alarm in the phone? Because then, I have to know the passcode for the third floor. But I only know the passcode for one door. He said he couldn’t do it because it was too much. But overall, I’m still happy because I got that protection. I convinced my sister to also get ADT and she bought it.

I used to work for a company that did phone sales and one of the companies that we worked with was ADT. I was familiar with the teams that worked with them and they seemed to have a lot of positive things to say about the company. The setup that the company that previously had protection for the household had a cabling that seemed like it was coming out of the walls, wherever it is that was convenient for them. It was sort of bird's nest of wires in one of the cupboards and it was a complete mess. I thought if ADT could take over some of the stuff that's already in the house, then great. If they couldn't, we'd get some new stuff.
It was sort of a friend of a friend type situation where there was a company that I was working with a couple of things to do with my loan and they recommended a specific person with ADT to speak to. I spoke with them to schedule the appointment and they were fantastic. The technician came out to the house to survey the property, give me an estimate, and do the actual installation. He was very professional. He had some jokes in terms of how the previous setup was handled. But that was partly because I was sort of giving some banter back and forth and opening up the space for it. He didn't overstep bounds on that front.
The service has been great. So far, it's worked exactly as advertised. In a couple of days’ time, I'm expecting to have my AT&T finally transferred over from my current apartment to the house which is where I'll be staying from that point forwards. Once that happens, I'll be able to get the cameras put in. The technician recommended that I reach back out when I have the internet. There may be an option to have him come back out and do the cameras. Instead of having to pay for the appointment itself, I'll just pay for the cameras and the additional setup there to reduce additional fees. That was quite good as well.
The only thing that I can think of in terms of improving the customer experience is stuff that maybe I personally should have been aware of myself before reaching out to them. But that would mainly be things like the carbon monoxide monitoring where it is that that's typically located in a house. We had some back and forth discussion over where it was going to be best and where it was going to look all right.

Then, getting through to the customer service is horrible. When it came to do the installation, no one reminded me, “Oh, we’re coming today or tomorrow.” I had to call them. The guy who came to install didn’t really do it properly. Another guy had come out as well. He couldn't do it because the system was down. So it's been a whole mess. Our brains and memory aren't so good anymore at our age, and I recently forgot to turn it off when I got up in the morning. The first time I got up, I didn't turn it off ‘cause I went back to bed and then I got up again. I said, “Oh, I’m just gonna go ahead and take a shower and stay up.” I forgot to turn it off, so when I opened the window, it went off. I ran and got my little trusty thing and turned it off quick. It makes me nervous when it goes off and the gentleman told me that I can use the little remote thing quicker if I wanted to do that instead of trying to remember how to use the system.
We're still getting used to the system, but so far, it's been good. With everything going on, the system makes us feel a lot better about having it. I like the fact that our fire alarm will go straight to the authorities instead of just making loud noises at us. He placed the fire alarm in a really good spot. Our previous alarm was too close to the stove. So anytime we cooked anything, it would go off repeatedly. We don't live in a very crime-ridden area. So the burglar features are good. But it's hard to know. I don't tend to use the app much. At this point, especially because we're home all day with the kids anyway, people are coming and going. We were switching from Xfinity to AT&T, and when we talked about security, they flipped us to ADT. We had them before and then we went to Xfinity. But we're very pleased with the new program we have with security. Austin was wonderful in every way. He came out, explained it and installed the system as well. My experience was very positive. He had very good explanations even for me who can be very challenging, and he was patient, focused with terrific personality and professionalism. The only concern we have is we need someone to come back out and connect the doorbell camera to the internet.

I was very pleasantly surprised to see that the installation guy and I went to college together. So it was amazing. I didn't know that he worked for ADT. I didn't even know that he was gonna be my installation person. But he was very, very pleasant. He was very thorough and very knowledgeable. He explained everything for us. Initially, prior to ADT coming out, I thought I was gonna have a camera for the front and the back. But when he got here, he pretty much explained that it only came with the door camera. When I consulted with someone from ADT, he explained to me that I was gonna have both cameras in the front and the back. But overall, I'm happy with the system.

There was already an ADT system in my house so I stuck with them. Getting everything set up was simple. It was pretty smooth, quick, and an in and out type process. When they did the credit check, everything was free. The installation was free. But they still charged me the next day. I didn't know I was supposed to be still being charged for that monthly rate.

ADT rep did well. The installation of our system went good. They came in and explained the process, explained the equipment, installed the equipment, made sure I knew how to use the equipment, and then left. My experience was good.

I went with ADT because I was gonna get a better rate on the install. When they came out, it seemed like the install and the quote when I talked to them on the phone was gonna be a lot less. However, I was bait and switched on the monthly rate. Because I heard it was gonna be in the 30s, but when they came out, it ended up at 60 instead. I initially called them because of an advertisement online about the 39.99 package. I spoke with Don and he was really good. I liked what he was saying. We got into the different devices and kinda what I needed. It seemed the price and what they were gonna do to install for was fair. So I went ahead and put the $100 deposit down.
When the guy came out, he was super nice. Once they were out there, we couldn’t install an outside camera on the back. But I really needed one around the back because we don't have one around the back at all. So instead, we did a inside camera, which was fine, but I really wanted one in the exterior. But the inside camera doesn't have any volume. The cameras and the motion detection weren't set up at all when he left. So for three weeks, I couldn't figure it out. Then one night, one of the sensors on the door fell off, and it set the alarm off. ADT tried to call me and asked if there was an intruder. It freaked us out.
None of the smart home devices were switched over, like our thermostat and all the Z-Wave stuff, which I thought was gonna be included. When they set my wife up at the house, I wasn't there and she didn't know what they were talking about. So she got the whole three year thing set up at 60 while I thought it was supposed to be around 40. I was upset about that. When I called in, they said it was kinda too late since we just signed. So it would really make me happy is if I got the outdoor camera and lower original rate so that I don't feel like I was bait and switched on lower than the 60 for three years. But ADT gave me two months free after all the issues I had, which was nice of them.

I've used ADT in the past and it was good. But I was calling to get some information concerning any specials. I had said I wasn't gonna do it, and I ended up getting them still because of the different things that their said that they were gonna be offering, but they didn't once I got the package. It's like a lot of false information was given out. Once I got it, it's totally different. I couldn't afford to pay $99 at that time. So she said, "Well, you'd get a Visa card in the mail." I've not yet received that Visa card. She told me that I will be getting window alarm, asked me how many windows I have, and come to find out that would be extra. She told me that would be included in there.
The first time when I called, they said I couldn't cancel because I would have to pay. Then I was informed by a legal document that I do have three days. I was on my third day when I called. The first gentleman told me that I couldn't. I would have to pay the thousand some dollars. When I called back that evening, the lady was very helpful. She told me I could cancel on the third day. I just had to email my signature in saying that I didn't want the service. I talked with the supervisor, and he was supposed to call back yesterday. He hasn't returned the call. So it's like a lot of fault. Even the guy that hooked it up said he doesn't understand why they gave out a lot of false information to get the service because it makes them look bad. But he was very helpful, explaining and breaking stuff down. The rep did put on there a credit, but there wasn't that much I could get off the credit.
With ADT, if I wanted more, and that wasn't told to me when I first got started, I will be coming out of my pocket more. Another company has been reaching out to me, and they offered me a whole lot more than what ADT is for a cheaper price. I'm waiting on them now to cancel my service now. I've been waiting over two weeks for them to cancel the service. I hate ADT. I went back and I've seen a whole lot of bad comments about ADT. I'm not satisfied.

I had Wackenhut come down from LAX, Los Angeles Airport to me in Orange County and they continually covered me. Then, I went to ADT because there were three ads in the phone book that all said free. But I paid because when they got here, their reps said that it'd be $800. And then when we got to the ranch, it was 500. Then, when they went to the house in Scottsdale, I had a lady let them in, and I don't remember what that amount was. But they were deceiving the public about prices and I would not recommend them to anybody else.
Also, I have not even ever set the alarm here at the house because I don't know how to. The guy who came out was in such a big hurry to go and when he did that, I didn't have the slightest idea. He gave me a little booklet and said I could figure that on that. Then I told him that he shouldn't have come. When he told me the amount, I told him that I'd like to call the people that I originally set this up with and tell them that it was a good old fraud. And he said, "How would I know?" I told him that he's got to have initials or something at the bottom of his work order or back in the office, then he told me that if I call their office, I'd figure it out. But I told him that I didn't have a business card and that I presumed he would give me a business card. Then he said that he didn't have them. I then asked him which office he worked out of but he told me to just call the one I had set the install up with.
All in all, I'm not mad about the system. I'm just perplexed that anybody could stay in business and not show you how to run the thing. I just want to be able to not activate the zone number 1 when I go in and want to get a glass of hot milk in the middle of the night. If you deactivate that zone, it automatically goes off in that zone only. But but I don't know how to do that and they wouldn't show me how to do it.

ADT is well-known and they were in my area. I liked the pricing as well. But I don’t feel like my ADT system is working like it should be working, and I don't know who to contact and get in touch with to address the issue. It doesn’t look like the sensor in the hallway’s even working. The motion detector doesn’t look like it’s working. The only time I can get the system to work is when I put it on for Stay. When I’m leaving, it doesn't do whatever it’s supposed to be doing.
The installation took forever. It took so many hours. It's very frustrating because it's been a month that I've had it, and when I open my windows, I hear it announcing the window was opened, and I hear it announcing when the windows are closed, but when I get ready to leave and I try to arm it to leave, it's like it unarms itself and I’m like, “What in the world is it doing?"
I called them and said, “Okay, the talking, why so low?" If you go in your bedroom and you have a television on or if you sleep with the radio on or something like that, you can't even hear if something's going on. The person tried to walk me through turning it up, which we turned it up to like 4, which is supposed to be the maximum one. They were like, "That's as loud as it's gonna go, so that's why people get multiple pads." I said, “Okay, well, my finances was not for multiple pads.”
I'm not satisfied because even if the alarm is going off, when he was telling me about the alarm, I said, “How loud is the alarm?” The rep said, “When the alarm goes off, you will hear it and the neighbors are gonna hear it.” I don't feel that's what's going on either. There are still some alarming things that are troubling to me. It needs some improvement and some attention.

My cable service referred me over to ADT, and I’m not happy. The deal fell through but I still have ADT basic cable with them. I even went as far as speaking to a manager. They gave me this fantastic deal with cameras, all the bells and whistles, and that I was gonna pay like $53 a month, and the deal fell through. When the guy came over to have everything installed, he said, “Oh, by the way, you have to pay for the equipment.” I wasn't told that I had to pay for the equipment. I just got basic cable because I needed it at the time. I needed the whole kit and caboodle. The manager that I spoke with guaranteed me. I asked him over and over again, “It’s too good to be true.” He said, “No, that’s the deal. If they have any problem, they can call me.” He gave me his number.
When the installer was here, we called the manager. In the notes, it said exactly what he said but then, they said they couldn’t do the deal with me. They said, “No, we can’t. You have to pay for the cameras. You can pay half now.” It was like $1,000. “You can pay half later.” Then, we finally agreed to just basic alarm system. The installer was excellent. He was the most courteous, professional gentleman that you’ll ever run into. The sales guy was even good on the phone. The manager is the one who didn’t know what he was talking about. He should have told me from the get-go, “Hey, you're gonna have to pay upfront for your system.” He didn’t know what he was talking about because it all changed when the installer came and was wanting the money for the equipment. Everything changed. I was really upset. The installer did his very best to try to get me the best deal he could. The installer was more informed than the manager.
I wouldn’t recommend ADT because of the interaction I had with the manager. This is a manager here. He debited my mother’s credit card because he needed $99 for the installation of something. My mom’s on a fixed income. He charged, with permission, the $99, because I thought we were gonna get this deal. It was 53.99 that includes basic security alarm and security cameras, and he even gave me a reference number. It all fell through. We were thinking we were gonna get this fantastic deal, and we didn't get anything but a basic security alarm.

Everything went fine with the installation. On October 7th, they're coming back to add another keypad and also the smoke and carbon monoxide detector. The installer was very good and he was very knowledgeable. He did a very good job. The only thing that could've been improved was the conversation I had with several people to get the information of what they'd promised me before it was set up. They didn't follow through with what they promised me over the phone of making the sales pitch for me to buy the product. You talk to one person for a while and they say they're gonna transfer you over to this other one, then you transfer to another one, and then they transfer you to another one, and then you call back and you never get the same people again.
I called ADT yesterday to get the extra keypad to put upstairs. We have one in the basement where we came in through our garage to turn it off and on. But yet at night, if we don't use the remote, we have to go downstairs to alarm the system. So far, I'm happy with ADT except for the first initial part of it. We use it all the time. When we go to bed at night, we push this thing on it and use it. We feel very comfortable and secure with it. Another thing was that they told me they were out of the yard sign and they would be getting them in shortly. But it's been three weeks and I still haven't received the yard sign. So it's human error where people just don't send them out. It's one of the jobs anybody could do and nobody does it.
The only thing I'm dissatisfied with is I didn't get what they promised me. After a while, you talk to people and not argue with them, but express your views and what was good about it was that everything was recorded and they can go back and listen to it. They honored part of what they promised but they didn't honor all of it.

Everybody in my family back home uses ADT and my experience with them has been pretty neat. I went overseas for a couple of years and that was a break that I had from ADT, but when I came back, I got it again. The person that put in the system that I got recently was awesome and cool. He’s a veteran from the military. We talked a little bit and he loves what he does. He gave me a booklet which had his contact number but I misplaced it. When I first got the new system, I had a hard time turning it off by placing in the code and I had to use my phone to deactivate the alarm. I ended up calling the rep and he told me that I was missing a number when I was cutting it off. Once I got that straightened, everything was well.

I was pretty familiar with ADT. My parents have had it for quite a few years. I got it too and our installer was great. He very informative and he wore a mask the entire time, as did I. It didn't take him long to demonstrate the system features. I'm a big fan of the key fob. As I'm walking out the door, I can hold it down and lock it. And as I'm walking up, I can hold it down and unlock it. My girlfriend does not remember much of anything I ever tell her. But when I told her, "Hold this button down as you walk up, and it'll turn the alarm off," she has gotten the hang of that.
Customer service was also all right. The company that did my home inspection said, "We wanna offer you this much credit towards ADT." That was for all the bells and whistles, the touch screens, and everything else. But I didn't even go with that as I thought that was just too much. The person I spoke with was pretty good though.

ADT is a well-known brand. I bought a house in August and when I moved here, I received a promotion in the mail. It was a coupon. ADT will secure your home for an $850 fee that includes sensors, a Visa gift card, a keychain and the panel. So, I reached out for the service. I lived in Germany for 25 years. I just came back a couple of years ago. So, I'm not really familiar with things here. I knew of ADT, and as far as I'm concerned, it had a reputable reputation.
When the technician came to install the system, he made a very long presentation. ADT also promised a $100 gift card as part of this promotion. He installed the devices. I didn't need everything on that page. But it was $850. At the end, he said, “Well, you have to pay about $300.” I asked him why and he said, “Well, because we needed to get some additional things and so I installed that." He said it's not part of their package. I said, "Well, that didn't seem to be what was on the paper I read."
Nevertheless, I waited for the gift card and it never came. Then I called to say, "Why didn't I get the gift card?" The rep said, "The gift card wasn't part of the package." I said, "Well, of course, it was. That what was on the paper, what was on the brochure that I was sent. Well, I'm not satisfied with this. Because on the paper it says, 'You got a $100 gift card,' I didn't get it. So I wanna know why." I was told a manager would call me within three days and explain to me. No one ever called. After about a week, I called again. I got a very nice person on the phone. She explained to me, "Yes. It wasn't included. You got some upgrades." I said, "Well, I didn't ask for them." She said, "Well, that wasn't what the technician did." So she told me, "Well, you'll get the gift card and we'll send the technician out the next day."
It was the same gentleman that came and he replaced two of the sensors that he had installed which were almost $70 more than what they should have been. He said I will get a refund on the replacement sensors that he put in. I will also get the gift card within 14 days. I don't know when I'm supposed to get this refund. I'll probably have to call and find out. He said, "Well, I'll notify the company immediately that I installed these two sensors, and they'll refund the money on your debit card." I'm not quite happy.
The process of getting the system was fraudulent. I'm satisfied with the product though. On my ground floor, I have access point. On the basement window, I have a deck where there's a sensor. In the kitchen, there's a sensor. On the cellar, which is the most risky access point, both sliding doors got sensors. The tech installed a motion detector in that room. I also got this app on my phone so I can activate the alarm with my cell phone. I get messages when the door is open and when the door is closed. I like that as well. Overall, the product is good. I would use ADT again. I think I can take this equipment with me if I buy another property. I'm happy with the product and happy with the way it works. It's one of the first things that I did when I moved here because I have children and I work early in the morning. I like having the feeling of security that they are secured when I'm not here. ADT is a good company.

ADT Security Service is a premium service. Meaning you pay top dollar every month for subpar service/product they provide. When they send the agent to your home for the first time, be prepared to spend the whole day listening to their sales pitch to get every last penny from you. I recently received a collections notice from Hillcrest Davidson and Associates for the money I don't owe to Protect Your home. I called ADT three different times and spoke to five different agents. They all said that I owe zero dollars, letter must be a scam and I don't have to worry about anything. Since the collections agency looked legit, I called them to help out. They contacted ADT to resolve this issue. Because I changed the ADT service to a new address, ADT did not inform PROTECT YOUR HOME caused which lead to this collections letter. Can't wait for my contract to end so I can switch.

I definitely feel more comfortable with the system installed and I'll recommend them. The system comes on when I initiate it to come on and it turns off. The features started out fine. But last week, I noticed that it wasn't performing as it was as the first installation. It used to say what door was open. But now it's not saying anything. I was also told at the beginning that there was a $100 gift card and I should’ve received an email. But I haven't received that email yet.

The installation took a long time but other than that, it went well. It took about two hours and just going through the whole process of trying to figure out what I wanted as part of my package and then the specialist had to go around and kinda look and see what might be considered areas concern or possible entry points. But I like the system so far. But one issue was the sensitivity of one of the chimes. ADT came the next day and fixed it. Then I had an alarm event yesterday but it was because my sensor fell off the door. So they’re sending a kit for me to fix it.
When the gentleman came to install the smart locks on the back door, he installed it upside down. He knew he installed it upside down, but from his vantage point as he was installing, it seemed to work. But then something happened and it didn't work. That kind of rubbed me the wrong way because if you were coming here to install the system and if you know what was wrong, you should install it correctly.

My mother likes the system because she has the Medical Alert button and the emergency police panic button. Those are really what we wanted it for her. She's home alone and there 24/7. She wants it so in case someone comes into her house or breaks a window in the middle of the night, she can press the panic button. She's satisfied with the system.
However, we were lied to time and time and time again. I'm beyond furious. I ordered the system for my mother. She lives in Ohio and I live in Florida. They told me it was not a problem. They'd switch the name over. They'd put it in my name but she'd sign the contract. But the installer said there was no way they could switch it to my mom's name. I had to put it in my name. I signed the DocuSign thing and he said to call ADT and have it switched to my mother's name. I was on hold for five days for hours and hours at a time and they said, "You can't do it with Protect Your Home. You gotta do with ADT."
Four days later, they finally denied me the switch. They said, "You can't switch it. You signed the contract. It has to stay in your name." I've been lied to by four or five people at that place, the sales agent, the home services, three more ADT, about getting an email. I finally talked to supervisors and managers after being on hold for over an hour on almost every call. I said, “All I wanna do is switch it to my mother's name. The clause in the contract says she's 87. If she passes away, the contract is canceled automatically. But if it's in my name, I have to pay the $1,400 penalty.”
We had to get in a three-way call with my mom, my sister, and ADT North which is different than ADT National. They said, "You have to cancel your contract, pay the $776 fee, pay the reinstallation fee, and pay the installation fee again of $99." But it's already installed and I'm not paying a penalty. I'm just switching it to her name like I wanted all along, like five people told me it was easy to do. The whole thing has been absolutely horrific.
We finally got a manager, a supervisor, and seven people in, to finally say that it kinda does make sense that all I wanna do is switch. I don't care if they have to redo the contract and qualify her with her credit. All I want was the initial phone caller to make an appointment. I called to make an appointment to have someone come to her house and tell her all about the system and somehow, I have a three-year contract. I am telling so many thousands of people how much I hate ADT. The policies of the company is ridiculous. The installer did a good job and was was nice enough but he didn't know the facts either. ADT's service is alright. The installer did good and he was a good guy. He explained everything that I have on my system. He gave me seven days to see whether it’s working. If the system goes off, you don't have to worry for the first 10 days about the police. Nobody is coming by if it went off. I will recommend ADT to a friend because it's a good thing to have.

We had a lot of problems with the ADT system in the beginning. The guys broke our doorbell and then they put up a new doorbell, and then it wasn’t right. It has been a big mess, but it’s working now. The sales rep told us when he came that he was gonna be leaving the company. So, normally, in the past, when we dealt with the sales rep, they'd leave you a card for contact. This one didn’t. But he did call Marty, the gentleman that did service calls.
Marty came out and finally got the situation under control and fixed it. He gave his information and then he went back to ADT. We had to have an electrician come out and fix the problem, and it ended up being nothing wrong on our side. It had something to do on ADT's side. But the electrician charged us $480 and ADT did reimburse us for that. Marty was fantastic but the sales rep was not so much. We didn’t get the same service that we received in the past when we had ADT at a previous home. The sales rep was nice but once he walked out the door, he was done with us and that was quite obvious.

I've had ADT before and it seemed to be fine. It's a recognizable name and I got it again recently. But they said that I was going to get my installation fee back, that it would be credited, and that it would only cost me my first month's payment. But I waited about a week or so and nothing got credited back. So, I called and they said I was supposed to get a $100 gift card. But no one ever said that. So, I called the place that had the gift card and they said that they had the wrong email address and they were going to send it again. But then I had to call the people that put it in to have them send over the verification. So, I called them and the rep said I'd get an email from them. He said that it'd take about 30 days.
They had no problem taking out my first month payment the next day, but as far as them giving back my installation fee or my $99 of a gift card, I probably won't see that because I've been checking and it could come any way. They’re just hoping people will forget about it because it is a pain to check your spam and all your emails when you really don't even know how it's coming. But that was my only pet peeve about the whole thing. The guy who installed the equipment was very polite. He did a good job and showed me how to use the system. We also got my app set up, and so far, the system works.
We appreciate your feedback on our Gift Card process. Thank you for choosing ADT and allowing us to serve you!

ADT came with the package through BGE once I got the estimate. We just moved into a new house and I already had Frontpoint Security equipment. They tried to get in contact with me via email and I attempted, through phone, to contact them back multiple times. That was a no-go so it made the decision a little bit simpler. Then it came down to cost. The gentleman that was out here went through the rigmarole. He did everything he could to get the cost down for us and we appreciated it. It got down to a point where it was affordable for us and it was something that we definitely needed.
The technician that was sent out was very good about reading the room. He was set up to do his very fancy display and the whole touchscreen and all that stuff. I told him right off the top of the meeting that we were just gonna sell and this was gonna be the price. It had to be something that as a new homeowner could actually afford. He quickly talked me through what we could and couldn't take away and adjust. He was very flexible.

The sales rep was wonderful and hee was the same guy who put the system in. However, the system hasn't worked since. ADT sent out two other guys. They went through the whole place, replaced a bunch of stuff that didn't need to be replaced, only to find out that it was never set up right in the computer in the first place. It was just one aspect of a multi-aspect thing. After they fixed that and I'd given out my internet password to four different techs, I got nervous and changed the password, which booted the whole system. It wouldn't allow me to view my cameras. I still have securities to let me know when the doors open, but there's no connection to the outside world, which I'm paying for. They sent out another tech, who spent three hours, did nothing at all, and couldn’t fix it. They have a feeling that it's something to do with a booster.
There’s also another issue with a tampering notification I keep getting since the day after they put it in. It's not been tampered with and they’ve all looked at it but I still get the notification. I hope to get the system up and running soon because I’m about to ask for my money back. It’s a little bit pathetic and I’ve just given up on it. If it's not working for my cameras, I'm probably not connected to them either. I'm not gonna recommend the service. The guys are trying. It’s just not happening. It’s time to send out the big guns.
William, thanks for touching base! Our cameras we use with the Alarm.com system in the your are directly connected to your wifi, so when you change your wifi PW, you change the camera connections also. You can change the Wi-Fi Name/SSID and Password to your new values in the Control / Alarm.com web portal, then change the Wi-Fi Name/SSID and Password to your new values on their router. now, Wait 1-2 minutes for the cameras/doorbells to reconnect. I've known about ADT for years. My aunt has had it ever since I was probably 10 and I'm 25 now. She lives in a pretty rough area of Tulsa, Oklahoma. It's kept people out of her house a couple times now. It's gone off and scared them off. There were multiple security providers in my area that I could have gone with but I knew ADT works. I knew that ADT had fast response time when it comes to the alarms going off. I decided to go with what I knew and I'm very satisfied. They're fast, precise and caring. One time my alarm had gone off, they called immediately. It works exactly like it's supposed to. It works great and I don't have to worry about anything. On the keypad on the wall, it tells me if any window or door is not secure.

The installer also put in one of those things for glass breakage for the two windows in the living up front where I don't have bars on. I was online looking for one specific thing which is a dead bolt system and ADT popped up. I went with them because they've been around and the program sounded pretty good. All the equipment sounded good too. My installer was pretty late here that night and he did a great job. He at least wanted to get everything up and going. He was very forthcoming and told me everything including the prices. We kinda custom built this system. He worked with me to get it done to a lower price that I wanted and I can add more pieces and devices on to it later. About 99% of it was installed. The only drawback was making sure that the whole systems work. It's that 1% of making sure. We were trying but we ran into a few little snags and it was late. But he got it done.
There was a code on the keypad for the dead bolt. The only thing I don't like about it is it does not have backlit numbers. It looks like it does. But if you walk up to the door, you can't see those numbers unless you get out a phone or a flashlight. I'm still trying to get everything to function. I don't think a couple things are actually talking to each other. I was gonna try and figure them out and if I couldn't, I'd call for a tech to come out and make sure they're working. I'd ask them to show me how to do it. ADT is beneficial. I feel relieved. I know that the house is better protected. They could be cheaper though. The fire alarm's $176.

ADT had pretty much the best option available for what I was looking for, and their prices were reasonable. The process on the initial call was fairly easy. Everything was pretty much explained to me in detail on the sales call. When the representatives came out to my house, they were very detailed in explaining things and letting me know what other services they did offer. They were here for about three hours, and the experience was fine. They made me feel comfortable with everything and walked me through what were the entry points were and what they were putting where.
There were other services that I wanted, but I couldn't afford them. They have more than just the basic package that I got, but it was way too out of my price range, especially for something immediate that they offer, but I honestly couldn't afford it. They offered me $4,000 worth of equipment. I'm a single mom of three kids so I don't have $4,000 laying around just to have the other equipment. So maybe something that would be more suitable for people that can't financially afford it would be the only thing I would suggest.

ADT blew a lot of smoke up on what they could offer. But when they got here, it was not possible. My house was too big and I needed commercial. So for $9,000 they miraculously could make it work. I'm disabled and my husband is a long-distance truck driver. He could be gone for three days or three months. We went over everything because we had a really horrible robbery and assault in our house in Philadelphia. So with my disabilities and what happened to me, my husband was a bit overprotective. The system was installed three weeks ago. Their rep was here for a few days. The system was down and there were just numerous things. They promised my husband and me that when the doorbell would ring you could hear it throughout the house, but we couldn't. This house is too big. Then my service contract came in a couple of days ago.
The system failed on me twice in two weeks and I could have died. I blew a pipe and I was upstairs. So it took out two of my rooms in my house and no alarms went off. I had ADT out looking at my propane the other day. The guy acted a little weird. He was out for oil. He was just checking out the system in the basement and then said that he would have someone come back the next day. I told him that my husband was on the road and I needed to go over everything and I wasn't feeling good. I was vomiting and had headaches. I have a service dog and two extremely large parrots. We were all on the third floor. So they sent someone out here and both my basement and my first floor had carbon monoxide. If I had not called within another 24 hours, I would have been dead. My doctor said that the reason I was getting sick was that I was slowly breathing the carbon monoxide when I was going into the kitchen.
I filed a report immediately. I told ADT that they'd better get here and get all their equipment out. My husband and I wanted it canceled now. And they better not charge me anymore. I'm done. But they had the nerve to tell me they would call me back in a little while. I'm furious. ADT has not called me back and they know I'm out in the middle of nowhere. They also know that I'm disabled and that's a security system that's gonna protect me. They are now saying that I've signed a three-year contract. My husband told them that we'd be in court for three years because they nearly killed me twice and those alarms did not go off. They lied before they got here. Then they didn't even send me the contract that said that the only way you of getting my money back was within 72 hours.

He got me over to his manager who got me a little bit more equipment. The guy that came to our house was really nice, easygoing and helpful. Everything was good. He wasn't pushy, which is what not what I would want, when it came down to picking out what we wanted. We didn't want to spend a lot of money. We just built a new house and had to buy everything for it. He helped us kind of fit what worked best which was nice of him. We still spent a few hundred dollars but I'm happy with what he helped us with. He also seemed like he knew what he's doing.
I like the ease of turning the system on and off. I also like that it doesn't call the police immediately. It gives us a few seconds to turn it off ourselves. It came off once with our door barely being open on its own so I know that it works really well. I like being able to use the app and the key fob. I like that there are no wires too. He installed it in the wall so that you just see the device.

I had a home inspection done and they gave me a packet that had all of these different vendors and options that I can use. ADT was one of them. A representative called based on a generated referral because of the service. I spoke with the representative and arranged for someone to come out and do a what should have been an estimate, but it turned out to be something else.
I am very familiar with ADT. I know that banks use it, everything is wonderful, so I was hoping to have a wonderful system. ADT has so many features and I know a lot of people use it. I’ve known friends of mine who own homes who also have ADT and had ADT for years. I went based off of just things that I already know. Everything in the beginning was okay. Two young gentlemen from ADT came out. They literally came at 11 o’clock and was here at my house until 5:30. They were very nice the whole time. The one tech had an assistant or a trainee.
The main tech was trying to install a panel on the wall. My son-in-law was here at the time who was an electrician. He tried to explain to him, “You may not wanna anchor that right in that space because you’re gonna hit a stud.” He was like, “No, no, I got it. It’s not a problem.” I didn’t get a chance to see all of what he was doing because I work overnight. But I heard a noise, which is a problem. I went upstairs and I looked at the panel that he anchored into my wall crooked because he hit the stud that my son-in-law told him he would hit. Fine. Whatever. It was up and working. He explained everything. He gave me the key fob. He put up all of the sensors and stuff like that.
The main thing is my husband wanted this system because he fell in love with the doorbell camera option, which apparently could not be installed. And the tech said, “Well, if you go buy the Ring, we’ll come back out and we’ll install it.” We were initially gonna get four cameras. We wanted the doorbell camera, a camera for in the house, another for the side of the house, and another for the back of the house. We only got the camera inside of the house, which the tech put in the kitchen and said, “You can move it around anywhere you wanna move it.” And he put the camera on the side of the house and it started to pull the siding off of my house.
When he was trying to do the doorbell camera installation, he couldn’t get it correct. In front of my husband and I, the tech told the trainee, “You’re the trainee. I am whoever so you will do as I do.” So, the trainee sat down, and I would’ve done the same thing. I understand he is the main person, but he always has to be open to suggestions, because maybe the trainee learned something that he didn’t learn. Things change all the time. I don’t know when the last time he was in training compared to the new person.
The trainee, who was a very nice Russian guy, ended up having a conversation while the main person was still trying to install my doorbell ringer. He was going between my doorbell to the box steps in my house. And then he finally just said, “Okay. I can’t get this done. I don’t know what to say. But if you buy the Ring, I can come back and install it.” I said, “Well, can you just leave the doorbell ringer and I’ll have my son-in-law install it?” Because he’s an electrician, he can do these things. “Oh, no, no, no. We can’t leave anything behind.” “Okay, fine. No problem.”
I came back downstairs. And then, my husband rang my phone. He asked me if I could come up and check something out. The tech apparently wrote my name on sign the line. I never wrote my name. He wrote my name. You know how you could carry the signature going forward once you put it in there? That’s exactly what he did. Technically, I never signed anything. Again, I didn’t worry about it. I asked, “Am I getting a copy of this stuff?” He said, “Yes. You’ll get an email, blah blah blah.”
Now, I looked at the bill because he told me it was $2,600. I said, “How is it $2,600 when I don’t have two of the four cameras?” “Well, it’s just taxes and it’s still gonna be around the same thing.” I said, “Well, it shouldn’t be because I don’t have two of the cameras.” When I finally got the paperwork to look at online myself, there were charges for the carbon monoxide detector which technically should have been free based on the conversation that I had with the salesperson who initially set up the transaction. There were charges that shouldn’t have been charged to me because they should’ve been free that was on this bill that caused it to be $2,600, minus the two cameras that I did not get that my husband really wanted, because that was his pride and joy.
We got the system installed on the 2nd of September. On the 3rd, we called to have ADT come and take it back, because all night long it kept saying low battery. I had 20 emails about low power, low battery, system reset, low power, low battery, system reset. I get more than enough emails from everybody from here to Kalamazoo. I don't need 20 of them being from ADT back to back to back, because that's exactly what it was. I was so frustrated. We called the very next day. “You gotta come get this. This isn't working out.”
Again, I explained what the situation was, told them about the issue with the tech, wherein if you feel the need to correct your trainee, you take that outside of the presence of your customers. You don’t do that in the presence of your customers, because, one, your trainee will feel like a kid. That's just something you don't do. It's wrong, and it gave us a bad impression. I was already frustrated at the fact that they have been here since 11 o'clock, it was 5:00 then and they were still here, and then they tell me they couldn't even install the doorbell camera, which was the main thing. Especially hearing this here, ding, as the tech was going, and he was walking out with this big grin on his face, which made me feel like, “Oh, you feel like you got over on me because you’re having me charge all of this money, and I don't even have half of what I'm supposed to have.” It shouldn't work that way.
If the tech couldn't get it installed, then he should have stopped and said, “You know what, ma'am? I can't get this done,” prior to him putting up the panel. Because once he anchored that panel crooked and I looked at it and I looked at him, he said, “Oh, no, it's fine. It's in the wall.” When he came to get it, I have a big hole in my wall of where this panel used to be and he just left it. He didn't even attempt to patch it. He left the holes in the wall in all the places where you put stuff. I had to deal with this until at least last week when he finally came back out here to get the stuff. He came in and was like, “Hey, what's up?” “Nothing. How are you?” “I'm good. So, what's going on?” I said, “Get your stuff and take it out my house.” And he was like, “Well, is there anything wrong?” I said, “Yes. Day one, this thing was going off. And I got 20 emails minimum about low battery, low battery, low battery.”
He asked, “Was the system powered off or anything?” I said, “No. I even taped the switch,” because one of the switches in my house is connected to the outlet where the panel was. I said, “So, I actually taped it up so that nobody will accidentally turn this switch off for no reason, because I didn't know what was gonna happen. But it keeps dinging low battery, system restart, low battery, power out. I didn't need all of that. And then the camera that you installed off to the side of my house never worked.” I kept looking at the frozen picture of my yard. And then it had a circle type thing for you to reboot it with a wrench to fix it. It never fixed itself. I was done. I was fed up. It was less than 24 hours. Then he said, “We’re willing to offer you like $550.” I said, “To do what?” “A $550 discount.” I said, “No. Take your stuff and it can go because I'm frustrated. I don't need to have 20 emails every single day.”

Then the rep said that the earliest they could come out was Tuesday between 12:00 and 5:00. So someone was supposed to be here between 12:00 and 5:00 and no one was here so we had to cancel. If I was a customer, I would be very unhappy. I wouldn't even want it.

I had ADT through a different franchise so I know what it does. I moved and needed a little protection around here because I’m the first house in the neighborhood. I looked it up and Protect My Home was the first one that I'd seen. The rep was very informative. He came and let me know all the options and everything he has to offer as far as the packaging and what I could add. He was thorough. I feel protected with the system. The sensors are sensitive and they met the needs that I was looking for.

The guy who came over here for the installation tried to sell me something else. I sold my duplex so I’m in a complex right now, and I don’t need all the features. I only got a little door for the patio and the front door. The only way somebody comes here is the front door. Nobody is climbing in the back. The guy took all this stuff off, but at the end of the day, I ended up with some carbon monoxide thing. After the fact, I wondered what I needed it for. I know about the smoke detector, but I’ve already got something in here and I'm all electric. I ain’t have to pay nothing out-of-pocket though, so it’s all good. I ain't gotta sleep with my gun out right now because with this system, I would know. If something pops off, I can hear a sound.
I already got an AT&T service and I looked them up to add the alarm system. When I clicked on it, I thought I was clicking on AT&T and it took me to the alarm people. Protect Your Home was all right, but I could tell they were running games. The guy said, “Let me talk to my manager,” and I could tell he just put it on mute and let somebody take that call. I know the game. The only thing is that they were supposed to be sending me a gift card. I got my alarm system but they shorted me on my money.
Oh no! This is unacceptable to hear! We would love to address your issues with the gift card redemption if you could please email our team directly at Alwaysthere@adt.com with the address in which the services are located and a reference to your review.

The sales agent did what she could but I was disappointed because I was told by the guy who came out and installed the system that I had a 30-day trial. 25 days and still had a few days left, I called in to cancel, and they told me that they only had three days to cancel, not 30. They sent somebody out and I ended up returning some of the equipment, but keeping the system. But the guy who came out and installed it did a good job. He showed up at my house at 3:30 and he was there almost till midnight. He set it up, and then there was an issue with a couple of sensors because the serial number was a couple of digits off. So it kept showing a fault. But eventually, it got resolved.
I like the system overall. I was looking into some other options outside of ADT or any of the monitored systems and going with something that's not monitored. But when the installer came out, showed me the system, and he kinda got me to sign up. He gave me a good deal and some discounts. I was kind of a little disappointed because I had to pay $1,400 over four payments for some extra equipment. That was a little bit frustrating, but I ended up returning some of it. So I'll get back around $900 of the 1,400.

I had the ADT system before in the restaurant. I got it again and the people that did the installation were wonderful. They did a great job and were nice. They knew what they were doing. It looked good and professionally done. I like the remote control feature of the system. The key fob and the app are good too. But ADT can do better upgrades of their own system like with the keypad thing. They can do it differently like electronically and not just the physical push button. And the security pad where you put your pin should have a program that you can see the cameras in it. Otherwise, ADT is a good system to have and it gives you peace of mind when you’re asleep. The system works properly and there is a good response time whenever the alarm hits.

ADT's sales rep was pretty good and their installer got everything set up fairly quick. I like that I can use my app in case I forget to set my alarm or if anything happens, I can send it straight to my phone and I'll know immediately. The only thing is, I was told that I would get a $100 Visa card. I was talking to one lady on the phone and she said that she would let me let talk to her manager and see if she could do anything special for me since I was moving into a new home. And they made it sound like they'd give you a gift card whenever your installer comes.
But when he came, he said they'd send it to me in the mail, and I've been waiting and waiting. I check my emails most of the time, but apparently, there are a lot of spam emails and I didn't know what it was. So I deleted it and I ended up having to call. And they had to resubmit email then I had to go to a library to print out this paperwork, fill out a form, make copies of my contract, and mail them off, just to get a gift card. But they kind of made it look like it was included with me getting my installation.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about ADT. The sales rep was very friendly and knowledgeable. He knew what he was doing and made sure to explain everything to us. Also, the guy who installed the sensors was great and a gentleman. I like the system and I’m happy and comfortable with the sensors on the windows. But I’m mainly worried about the back entry door and the back area because we have such an open area and there's only a little ringer for the entry door. I was wanting a little more aiming towards the back door and I feel like it's a little protective towards the windows versus the doors.
Also, they guy said the system was $50 a month but he was gonna contact his manager and see if he could get it at 36. He didn’t call anybody though and just automatically marked it at 36. So for that amount, we get sensors on every window and on two doors. We didn't get a camera because it would cost more. I’m just gonna get them myself. I probably could have went to Lowe's. If I got six sensors at $7, I would have spent $42 on six sensors and I would have had them paid off versus paying on a three-year contract. That's where I'm a little uneasy. But I understand that there are services provided with that.

ADT was fine in Florida but it was a problem in Chicago because they don't disclose what they actually offer. Nobody disclosed that it should be contract for three years. They just talked about for 27.99, you will get full protection of your house and that you get a lot of perks. Plus, when they start to tell what features you need to get in the house, salesperson will say that you would get a lot. But when actual sales technician would come, it would be a different issue and it would appear to be that it's not 27.99. Also, for 27.99, you cannot get the camera.
When the person is coming, you are not prepared and they are prepared. If you don't ask, you will sign it up and you wouldn't know that you've signed for three years of service. The first and second people said the 27.99 was only if you have landline but if you don't have landline, it will cost much more. That one is kind of very deceiving because almost nobody has landline now. Everybody has cellphones. Also, it's not clear-cut why you have to have landline and you cannot have wireless phone, and why they cannot connect you by the wireless phone.

With the ADT system, we like the fact that we got that little remote to where we could arm the system outside the house then deactivate before we come into the house. We also like the fact that we can always upgrade and constantly get new stuff like the deadbolt if we want to. Knowing that we got that peace of mind that we got the system hooked up and always have that just in case something does happen is good. The system has very good quality. The technician that came out was very knowledgeable and very accurate on getting our house set up.

I know ADT is a good company, but I probably paid too much for it. As in all businesses, they make it sound like you would get your service for 29.99 a month. But as it turned out, "Oh, no, no, no. It's $60 a month." Also, everything that you think you need isn't all you need. So, you have to buy additional stuff, which costs a lot of money. They say, "Oh, yeah. We're giving you all this money off, but it's still gonna cost you $1,200 for all the other stuff." And when you look at it, it really doesn't look like $1,200 dollars’ worth of stuff. But that's what they charge. I'm paying too much a month. But away from that, I know ADT is a good service. It does what it's supposed to do. It's just they take it to the bank.
The rep was a nice guy. He tried to explain all the costs. I didn't have to take the service, but I did. He was just doing his job. It's not like he didn't explain everything to me as much as he could anyway. I just felt like I needed something. And ADT was the first guys out here, so they got it. But the system was way more expensive than I could afford right now. I'm on a fixed income and I’m retired, so I had to go with the smaller package. But they could have taken that initial expense and spread it out more, instead of $300 a month for three months. It's just impossible for some people like me.

I thought it was an automatic transaction for the card that I provided with ADT. Besides that, the system's been great. But I've been having a low battery on my camera here and there. Sometimes the low battery alarm will go off for the front door camera, and then two days later, it will say it's fine. I wasn't really concerned with it since it does reset. Everything's fine. The guy came with the impression that we were sold on everything and ready to go. I'm sure that was done intentionally in order to encourage us to go on and put the system in place. They had asked me when the best time was for him to come. I had said around 4:00 or shortly after 4:00. He came a little before 3:00 and my husband wasn't here so I said, "Could you come back? I'd really like for him to hear what you have to say." He happened to live very close to us. He said he'd go home and come right back when my husband was here and he did.
But even then, I think he was ready to begin the install without really answering any questions. He was ready to jump right in. We had questions about how much we would be paying. He did a survey of the house and did that but I felt like we were kind of led to believe that everything was going to happen immediately. There was no discussion really. It was like we had already determined that we were ready to go with this which wasn't really the case. But he did a good job.
We now have a control pad at our garage door which makes it much easier to disarm the system when we're coming in through the garage. Before, we had to go all the way to the front door or try to disarm it with a fob or from an app. Now, we can pull into the garage and disarm it immediately. That's much more convenient. We were hoping to save a little money and we're not really saving any money at all but we are getting a little better protection.

I 100% chose ADT because they have the garage door device that ran through the same app as their alarm and cameras. I like the convenience of everything on one app. I went through a third party when I bought the service. They gave me the two grand in-store credit and I had to pay the $99 to lock that deal in. I just got the bare minimum which included the cameras, the garage door and the doorbell or the deadbolt thing. I just bought a house and I put an alarm in. They didn't inform me that I had to pay another $580 upfront on the day of install. Not that I didn't have the money but it would have been nice. $580 is a decent chunk of change for some people.
The guy that I talked to that got me into the deal was good as well as the installer. He had to make two trips. He was very nice and friendly. He was a little new but he took longer than expected or should have. Then, when he installed the cameras, he didn't put them all the way up. The back of my house is weird but he put them midway between the bottom of the house and halfway at the top. I wish they were all the way up. He didn’t have a ladder long enough to reach it. Also, it was two days to install versus the one day they quoted me. Other than those, everything else was great. I'd recommend the ADT service to anyone.

That's the main thing ‘cause I'm not in my 20s anymore. I like anything that’s very simple. The place he put it in is perfect for me too. The first night I had it on, I slept better than I slept in months.

I've been looking for a security system and the companies sent me emails. I was going with other companies, too, but ADT was the first one to respond. The installers came in and installed brand-new equipment, but the next day, the batteries went down on a couple of windows. I had to call and wait a week to replace the batteries for that to come in. That was the only issue. They could improve on the response time, ‘cause they were quick to come and install, but it took forever to come and fix.

ADT's rep was a little terrified of me. He got me his manager right away because I was in an upset state. My renter moved out, and then they broke in that night and trashed the house. So, the next morning, I was dealing with all of it. I called ADT because I needed it as soon as possible. The rep said, “Oh, we can't get it until Monday.” It was a Thursday. I said, “I need it sooner than that.” I wasn't leaving the house unprotected all weekend. He got his manager and he got a guy to come out the next day for me.
The installation was overwhelming because there's too much. Then it's so expensive. I'm signing a contract for two years yet, I have to pay $150 extra if I wanna get extra accessories. So, I thought it was a little misleading that it’s, “Oh, you get this much free equipment.” But that equipment shouldn’t really cost that much. I didn't get as much protection as I wanted because I felt it was too expensive. I kinda regret going with ADT because it's way too expensive for a little door or a window type sensor. Then I was not informed that if I wanted the cameras, I need internet at the time of installation. So, I wasn't able to get the cameras. They told me I needed PG&E electricity in order to get it installed. So, they at least told me that portion of it but I did ask about cameras, and they didn't inform me that I needed internet. So, I still don't have cameras there.
The customer service was good, and the installer was really friendly and made me feel really comfortable. I was overwhelmed with everything else going on in my life, so I couldn't really retain any information. He did everything I needed him to. It's just the price is a little ridiculous if I'm signing a two-year contract. It feels like I should’ve gotten more for what I purchased. Next time when the two years is up, I'm gonna be like, “I still don't have the cameras. I still don't have all the windows secure.” I even told them I want my shed secure, and then I had to take that off because it was an extra 150 bucks straight up.

I know ADT better than everybody else. I went with them, and everybody's been great. They were able to do the installation the same day. The installers were really helpful and walked through the whole thing with myself and my boys. It was great. As far as the system, I love that we can program it on our phones. If we forget and we're out of the house, we can still arm or disarm it.

So far, so good. The rep was excellent and the install guy was very professional and nice. I love the response time that ADT has. I already did recommend them to my daughter and she had hers installed too.

I was with Xfinity and I didn't like it. I canceled them two years ago and then I got a new system now ‘cause my wife wanted me to get one. I heard that Protect Your Home was the best, so we got it and the representative was great. In the front camera, the motion detector lets me know if somebody is in my front yard, but the back camera is not doing that. I really want it for my backyard and the camera is not letting me know if anybody is in the backyard. It just records clips. I called and they said they're gonna have a technician call me back and they never did. I need to get it fixed. Other than the back camera, the system has been great.

The guy that came to install the system was magnificent. He told me everything, laid out all of his equipment and proceeded to install. It's worked fine ever since. It's simple but it works good. I'm happy with it. I don't really understand how the key fob thing works but I'll get in touch with him and ask.

We're very comfortable with the service for right now. The installation guy was very good. He explained the things well and I like the Ring doorbell. I've told friends I like the service, and I feel safe and secure. I also told them that they should get ADT because they provide a lot of different options and different plans.

I had two guys come by one day and they sold me on the deal for five years. Then they sold out to somebody else, and then they sold to Brinks. I was so dissatisfied with Brinks, and as soon as my contract was up, I went with ADT. Everything's working. I haven't had any alarms go off. It's a little bit cheaper, too. The only thing that I had a gripe about was they said I'd get a $100 card, and I had to go through hoops just to fill out the damn thing to get my $100 card. I still haven't got it.
You're led to believe that the equipment you have can be taken off or used, but you don't wanna do that because that equipment is old. So that's kind of a disingenuous thing to offer. Other than that, everything went like the salesman said, with the exception of the $100 rebate. The installer was excellent. He did the job and explained to me. I was led to believe that everything would be covered as far as parts and labor to replace it. And he said, "No, that's only 90 days." But that was the only thing different that the installer said. So, the salesman misled me there. He was doing his job, he's trying to sell the system.
