I specifically had already known about ADT and I wanted to give them a shot. Initially, when I spoke with someone, it was a good interaction. When everything started getting set up, though, it became a bit different. The pricing was completely different than what I was first told about but recently, I was able to get closer to the deal that I was expecting. Last week, when somebody came out, I was trying to cancel first. But we worked out something to where I got it back around the pricing that I was told about. I like the fob. You can turn the system off from outside of your house. It was nice and the general security in general is great.

The technicians that came out did a very good job in explaining to me and hooking everything up. The hookup was fast. They put a panel in my wall. I really like my ADT system, and I'm probably gonna be upgrading with some other things that they have. ADT is very effective. I trust them, and I love my service.

I had ADT back in the day and I decided to go back to them since they were the first one who answered my question and reached back out to me. I’ve had the system for a week and a half and some of my cameras are not working as of today. It’s been going on for two days. I bought cameras because somebody stole from my house. I don't like to have $1,500 laying around. The installation crew was terrible. I was told that they were gonna be in my house between 2:00 and 4:00. They waited until 5 o'clock to call me and say that they were running late. That's bad already and they cannot give us out a phone because they got bad connection. That's the oldest story in the world. They told me they were gonna come out on Sunday morning between 8:00 and 9:00 but they were here at 2:30 in the afternoon. I'm dissatisfied with ADT.

I wanted a camera. At first, the experience with ADT was good, but come to find out it was terrible information that the rep gave me. He was not upfront. I was told the $99 fee, the upfront fee that was gonna be reimbursed to the Visa card, that I was gonna get that within three days in the mail. Come to find out that's not the case at all. I thought I was dealing with ADT, but I wasn't. I was dealing with a third party.
I was told by ADT yesterday that that's not exactly how it goes. What's gonna happen is that company that I dealt with initially was going to send me an email. I would have missed the email anyway. He said it comes in 7 to 10 days. I would have to go on there, go to the email field itself, fill this out, show them the bill for ADT, all this other stuff just to get $99 back. If I had known all of that, I would not have gone with ADT. But everything was perfect with the installation. The installer did an amazing job. He was professional. He told me what he was aware. He answered all the questions that he was knowledgeable about.
Hello Chardon, we are sorry to hear of your experience and would be happy you. Please check you inbox or spam folder for an email from Elite which you will need to fill out in order for fulfillment of the gift card. Thank you, Carla

I went online and I was checking to see who had the better price. As far as what they had to offer, it's pretty basic and I was trying to keep it basic. I didn't want to pay $80 for something basic and that's how I came to my decision to go with ADT. The gentleman's name was Gabriel. It seemed like he was still trying to learn the product but all in all, he seemed very friendly and courteous. It was a good experience as far as customer service.
ADT could be upfront with the pricing. They should be honest about the product they're selling. Initially, they told me they were gonna give me $850 worth of equipment. I should have known better but I didn't. But I did ask upfront what was gonna be the total cost. I kept asking that question and it never got answered. When the guy finished with his presentation, he came up to $8,000. It was a bit much. I don't have a mansion. I don't need to protect anything. I just wanted the safety whenever I'm not in town or if we go out of town and for emergencies, we can just press a button and hopefully somebody will be here.
Good morning Omar. Thank you for choosing ADT and for providing us with your feedback. We will take the time to review you experience and take the opportunity to improve. Thank you, Carla

The sales representative was helpful and explained everything well. Then the installation was all done in one day. We had ADT before and the system's basically the same of what we have now so nothing new.

The sales representative called, explained everything to me and told me there was a special going on for right now. The service guy that came out and evaluated the house called ahead of time and then he told me the package that I signed up for. He was very knowledgeable about the ADT system and how we can add on to the package later if we wanted to. It was a great experience with the guy who came out to install it.

I've got ADT in my home in Paducah, Kentucky since 2007. I got it recently as well and the installation went really well. The gentleman explained things to me. He gave me a pamphlet. He said I could alarm and disarm the system with my phone. We got a great alarm system. Just a whole lot better than what I had. I had it earlier with Spectrum down where we bought the house. But they ran into some problems. I had tried to get ADT down there before, but I couldn't. They couldn't compare with what Spectrum was at that time. I asked ADT about giving me a discount 'cause I had one here in Kentucky. They said no, they couldn't do that at that time. But that was several years ago that I called and inquired about it 'cause I was gonna go with them. Because I had it here in Kentucky, I liked the system I got here and I wanted to go with them. But at that time, the price was just way out of hand.

ADT's rep was being a typical pushy salesman, but he gotta do what he gotta do. Then, it took him a long time to get the installation done, and he had to come back the next day. That was a little bit of a headache. I just haven't had really a time to call, but my frustration is that it was kinda like here-are-your-manuals-and-here-you-go type of thing. He didn’t really show up anything on the app or anything on the keypad really. I'm trying to just figure out how to do stuff on my own. The only difficulty I have right now is that we have a video camera that I'm trying to set up some video motion areas, where it's pointed at the road and I don't need it going off every time a car drives by, but I do need it going off if somebody pulls in our driveway. He didn't know how to set that up, and that's kind of how he left it at that.
Beyond that, it wasn't too bad after the install. I'm enjoying the ability to have that doorbell and the video camera. I definitely enjoy that, and being able to see it on my app. I do enjoy knowing when the doors are open or doors are close. It's sad to say, but that’s kinda the highlight right now. I feel like I definitely overpaid for a security system because I'm not getting the full value of it yet.
I just moved into the home, and they had an ADT panel there, and I said, “Oh, okay. I'll just call ADT out and then it'll be a simple 1,2 3,” and it was not the case. So, I'm kicking myself in the butt. I probably should have shopped around a little bit more and kind of see what else is out there. It was 1,000 bucks for the equipment, and now, it's $60 a month for the contract.

I spoke with two different managers and three different representatives of ADT. They were all very helpful and they communicated very well with one another. They took very good notes so that the next person would know what was going on. Their installer was very thorough with the different pieces of equipment that I had to choose from and what security the said equipment would provide.

We were at our daughter's place and I was setting up ADT for her. The place that she purchased had an older system, so I called the 800 number that was on that and it went to ADT's number. The rep was pleasant and very informative. Then, the installer who came out was Philip and he was excellent. He did everything he was supposed to do and walked us through every step. He explained everything and did everything perfectly. So far, my daughter loves her ADT system. It's really good, effective, and up-to-date compared to what they had in there which was really outdated.

The system is mediocre at this point because I have a problem and I can't figure it out. I can’t figure out how to work the equipment and it doesn’t address it in the quick book and I can’t find anything on what’s happening with the in-depth instructions. That’s a little discouraging. So now, I need to call them. On the packet, it says that if you're a customer under 90 days and have any questions, you need to look it up online. If after 90 days, you have a question, they gave an 800 number to call. That makes no sense to me. You would think that within 90 days, you should be able to call and ask whatever questions you want. I’m gonna call in because I'm not gonna set up an account online. So, I'm hoping that when I call them, I don't get charged for the call.
ADT was beyond aggressive on the phone, which I know, they're salespeople, but it's not necessarily the best approach. I tried to say no initially. I didn't want them to come out and they kept calling back. Each time they called back, the customer service person got more and more aggressive to the point where I finally said it was fine for them to come. I didn't like that at all but that's just the way it is. Even the guy that came to the house was semi-aggressive too because he wanted to sell me stuff and I wasn't willing to buy it. I haven't had ADT that long and it could be absolutely wonderful but they need to tone back a little bit on their sales.

A neighbor may have told me about ADT. I’ve heard the name and I know who they are. I called them and a gentleman came out. There were a few things that he didn’t do. We couldn't even find some of the things that were on the list of things that he did. Some of the things weren't necessarily important but the other things were necessary. The guy told me I didn't need those barricades on the door and I took them off. Then somebody broke in again while I was at church yesterday. The building they broke into is a big building connected to the house. It's locked but they still knew how to open the lock and go in. They stole a whole bunch of brand-new stuff worth $230 but it was no big deal. He couldn't take more because there wasn't anything left in the barn but my big tractor and a trailer, and they weren't able to. They probably didn't have a big enough truck to take my tractor away.
The alarm went off and the police came but they couldn't find out where somebody broke in because all the doors were still locked. They had a way of getting in but they can't anymore. I fixed that. Everything's gonna be fine. I just need somebody to send me a couple thousand dollars to make up for all the stuff that was stolen. I have insurance and I have a $500 deductible. I have three different things so that's $1,500 off of about $2,200 worth of stuff that was stolen altogether. So, it's not very beneficial.
The gentleman came out today who's a supervisor with ADT. He looked all around and said that the guy should have done this and that. So, he wants to put up cameras, which he said was the most important thing in this kind of a situation out in the country here. But I don't have Wi-Fi, so I called my supplier, Spectrum. I spent some time on the phone with them and I finally got Wi-Fi. I called ADT back again and left a message for that gentleman but I haven't heard from him again since. So, I left him a message and then told him that I now have Wi-Fi so I'm ready to have the camera installed. All they have to do is let me know when so I'll make sure I'm here. I haven't heard back from them. So, I probably will later. If not, before I leave later today, I'm gonna call again and tell them.
What ADT did originally was done by a contractor. The general who came today was a far up the ladder employee of ADT and he was a little disappointed with what the other guy did or didn't do. He apologized and everything's gonna be fine. I'm still alive and it's not like I'm an old guy. I'm not gonna be 89 till December. I have a maintenance business and I still work.

We should have gone over the contract before ADT installed. That’s something important. I didn't know that it would cost me $2,000 at that time, plus the $66. They need to discuss that exactly because what if I didn't have that and the installer had already put the equipment in? What if I didn’t have $2,000 in my bank account the next day? That's a lot of money to take out of somebody's account. I thought that would be an installment over two months. I went on here because I could afford it, and they reimbursed me some back. They had to reimburse me that because I'm on disability.
Other than that, the system is great. It has been working very well. It was for my protection. The camera works great and I feel safer. I got a keychain that if I'm outside, I can push a panic button. Coming in, that was mostly my problem. I live in an apartment building and coming in and out, there are always a bunch of fellows. They’re hanging around. You never know these days. So, the keychain is wonderful. I couldn't go without it. I will take the system with me when I buy my home at the end of this year and keep it for the rest of my life.

I really like the technician who came out to install my ADT security system. He left everything as it was and didn't make a mess. There was also no need of getting more staff to come in for additional assistance or anything like that. So far, my experience with the system is good but I still have to get more familiarized with it so I can get the voice control going where someone opens the door, if the system tells me that the door was open. Currently, I get just text messages, but that's not really what I want. I also have to call the tech again for the camera outside that I have since it hasn't been working. But other than that, I haven't had any problems.

ADT's pricing is confusing. Whoever called me the first time said that the installation would be completely free, that I wouldn't have to pay anything. Then when the installer arrived, he said a certain number of things are included, but not the entire installation. Ended up being about $1,200 in terms of the overall cost. So that was one thing. The second thing was that the installer did not tell me nor did they tell me over the phone when they booked the appointment for the installation that there would be an installation fee of $220. So in addition to the $1,200 that I paid, I was also charged the $220 fee. I talked to someone about that, and they said there was nothing they could do about it, said that I supposedly agreed to it on a recorded phone call of some sort.
I wasn't happy at all with the amount of charges that were incurred for the installation to protect my family. It's almost $1,500 when I was told it was going to be free, and then all I would have to worry about would be the monthly charges. The system seems to work fine as far as providing what is expected. When you open the door when it's armed, it goes off. It seems easy to use for the most part, but very expensive. I probably could have gotten a better deal. But the installation was fine. The installer did a thorough job. He got everything up, all the windows are protected, the door, the alarm system is up.
Hello Delano. Thank you for reaching out and we apologize for your experience. I had an email with some promo items. That is what made us call. And we got a new house, so we just thought it would be a good time to do everything. My husband wants to get it done. We had called one other place. But they didn't offer as much. However, once we got ADT out here, we found out that you pay for every little item. So, it maybe could have been equivalent. But at that point, they were already out here. It was kind of a pressure. We had to make a decision that night or we lost all these discounts. I just don't work that way. My husband probably does. But I'm one that I wanna think about it overnight. I thought when we called into ADT, once we paid our monthly bill each month, all our equipment was in there. I had no idea the equipment itself cost so much. So, if you're signing up for ADT, there are a lot of equipment costs too.
And then, the biggest thing was, for both appointments, they were three hours late. The first one, our appointment was supposed to be at 3:00, and they got here at 6:30. We were obviously home for the night, but we didn't eat then until they left at 10:00. Trying to help my son with homework at that point. And that one wasn't as big of a deal. But then, the next one, we were in the process of moving. I had to be with the movers over at our old home. My husband had to stay here. And then, it was still like hours. And then we had to leave at 3:00 but the tech was not done until 6:30. Also, we were short a sensor for the window and the installer has to come back out. Other than that, the system is working really good. I can figure it out, which is a good thing. We like it. There are not very many people around. But definitely, there are no worries at all.
Hello Cameo. Thank you for sharing this experience with us. We are sorry for the concern the initial sales experience caused and we will have that reviewed. If you continue to have issues with the sensor you stated was left out, please let us know so we can follow up. Thank you. -Andrew

I went with them and worked with their tech David. He has to come back for my cameras though as I don't have my Wi-Fi set up yet. I got tested for COVID and told David that I was negative as he was around me before I got tested. He called me back yesterday to see how I was feeling. People don't do that anymore. The service was amazing when they installed the system. I was moving that day into this new house. The person named Chris came in and he introduced himself. I said I was gonna be a bit busy with the move and he said he just wanted take a couple of minutes. He asked me some questions and I gave him a tour of the house. I got busy with my stuff and he took care of everything. Towards the end, he made sure that I got the email with all the passwords. He showed me how to operate the lock system. I was specifically looking for ADT and it didn't dawn on me that there were different companies that contracted with them. On my initial call, I had some very specific questions that I wanted to ask. I spoke with a young lady, and I could tell that it was somewhat scripted and she wasn't able to answer my questions. She seemed bothered that I had questions that didn't fit into where she was going and I was very annoyed that she was trying to collect general contact information from me. I told her, "I'm not ready to give you information. I'm ready for you to answer questions that I have." Ultimately, I ended up speaking with a supervisor who was a little more helpful and was able to answer questions to get things set up.
I was also particularly frustrated with going through with the supervisor to discuss all the services I wanted and what I wanted equipment-wise in my home, only to have the technician get there and I have to start from scratch with him. Two guys ended up having to come out. The first guy was very pleasant and easy to talk to. Overall, he was a good guy. My issue was I wanted a smoke detector and a carbon monoxide detector and I had requested them through the phone call, but he didn't have those with him for installation. There's a disconnect between speaking with someone and expecting what I want service-wise, and then having a technician come out and having them sell me more things. That is problematic.
The first guy was supposed to come back to install those two particular things a couple of days later, but he did not come back. I ended up having to call in, and another technician came out. During that entire time, the alarm system didn't work. Partly because, as the second technician explained to me, what I opted for was to not have sensors on my front and back door, and the alarm couldn't effectively be armed if there were no door sensors. That's a very important fact that someone should share with you.
The entire experience has been frustrating. I've been meaning to call customer service about the experience in general because for one, I don't wanna pay for the time that my alarm was not working. I had the system for almost a week before the second technician came out. The motion detector that was installed didn't work either. It was a moot point, but then the second technician did come out and address all of the issues.

The panel's on the first floor and they're supposed to come and install a siren to go on the third level.

I had two locations that I needed systems and ADT was a national company I could talk to. The sales agent was very pushy though. I got the system but I'm so frustrated because what they initially sold me was not what they presented to me when they came to my house. They said I was gonna get stuff to protect my doors and windows but it was very limited. They also mentioned a motion detector. So, they could say that and be very direct but they don't. They want to mislead you to believe that it will take care of all your doors and windows.
I'm not a very happy customer at the moment. In one of my systems, I got woken up the first day that it went live saying it has a low battery. There's no way to fix it yourself. You have to call somebody or they have to send you batteries. This is a brand-new system. Their batteries are supposed to be good for 10 years and it didn't even last two days. Seeing how one of them is brand new installed and the battery's not good, I'm hoping it's gonna improve and be better because I'm already locked in to a three-year agreement without being able to get out. They also said I would get a $100 gift card but they never gave me any information on that. I had to call back and find out how I was gonna get there. There was a lot of deceitful marketing.
Elizabeth- We appreciate you using ADT to secure your homes, and we're sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction. I was told ADT was one of the best companies to get. Their customer service rep explained everything to me pretty much in detail. It was easy to set up the appointment and get somebody out here. The young man who came was very detailed about what I was getting and what he was gonna do. He seemed to be very knowledgeable about the system and helped me decide exactly what I needed in me. I like that about the technician. He did his little assessment, and he was quick. He was really respectful and nice. So, it didn't take long. It took like a day or two when I called and somebody came out the next day or two. The equipment is simple, and I like that I could do everything from my phone.

I met the installer at home on the day he came over. I had to go back to work that time. He was a nice guy. He put the system in and he explained it to me. However, I didn't particularly like where he put the main control board ‘cause when I'm in my bedroom and if someone opened the door, I couldn't hear it. It's so far away. I thought it should have been more centrally located in the house, but it was already installed when I got there. He left me his personal number. He said that generally, they don't do that, but if I have any problems and I can't get any satisfaction, I can call him and let him know what's going on.

We've just signed up in less than a month. I'm really worried about the safety of my aunt. I'm here in LA and she's in San Francisco. She's 90 years old with dementia and Alzheimer's. The ADT system is not meant for people with memory problems or people getting old. So it didn’t work and it created a problem for her. One time, she accidentally was cleaning it and it just went off. Then the fire truck, the 911 and the police were all there. And she didn't even have the slightest clue of what was happening. I was at work and was stressed out about what was going on. She said that she didn't need this thing in her house and she wanted to throw it away.
The ADT system has good intentions for other people, but for other people, it might not work. I wanted to cancel but they were telling me that there was a binding contract. So I wanted to downgrade. The consequences were not properly explained. In three days time, I wanted to install that one before I leave my aunt for LA. Because of the pandemic, I usually just visit her every three months. So I thought that this would help but it was the opposite.

The person who owned the home before me already had ADT set up. They are popular so I went with that. Also, when I set up my power, they were through a third-party so I got through to ADT and my internet service all in one call. One guy showed up originally but he didn’t have a certain device or equipment needed, so somebody else had to come out to assist.
The rep who came installed sensors for the doors and windows, and the video doorbell. For the first half, I was still at work, so I came home when he was finishing up. If the other person was there from the get-go, it would have cut down some of the time. But it went well. It just took a little longer than expected, which was a little over three hours. Also, he wore a mask. I wanted more service than just the basics. They upgraded the panel that we had on the inside also. It looks nice but I don't use it much. I like the convenience of the smartphone app. The rep set it up that it automatically puts it in Safe At Home mode at a certain time at night, and then it disarms it in the morning, so I wouldn’t have to worry about it.

I had ADT years ago but I'm not satisfied with it. The rep said that he wasn't able to give me what I wanted and what I need that I feel would be safe for me. Everybody always says that the way the house is, it's the way it is. Instead of people trying to do it, they make excuses. I called because every other night, someone comes up my steps. It scares me so I said that I wanted the camera thing so I can see who it is because I am not gonna open my door. If I had the camera, then I knew that I will still have the in-home system but I need something where people don't think that I'm crazy.
The rep said that he couldn't do that because there was no electrical unit. I don't have a doorbell so I told him to give me the thing with the doorbell. He said he couldn't do it and called his boss, who said that he wasn't able to do it. So, I was gonna call today to cancel it. The rep gave me the information to go to Best Buy. He said that it has to be battery-powered. I said that if people are not able to get it right there, they don't fix it. They’ll just say no altogether. They also lied about when my first payment would be. I was supposed to talk to a supervisor, and he told me that I won't have a bill for 30 days. That didn't happen because they tried to charge my card two days later. And I got it declined. It kept declining because I wouldn't put any money on it. They just lied to us to get the service.

I selected what is in my ADT security package myself. The installation was smooth and fairly fast. But the system hasn't functioned since it's been installed. It's been going off and going all haywire. Mostly, the CO detector was not linking properly to the system, and so it was setting it off without detecting the CO. Then, the backyard camera wasn't relaying any images to the system either. I'm having somebody come out tomorrow. But because it's not functioning currently, I'm fairly dissatisfied. Also, originally, I was calling up as far as canceling the policy because it hasn't worked since day one. I was like a day short of when I could do it without any repercussion on my end, and the management was not budging at all.

My signing up experience has been really bad. Initially, I thought it was great. The clouds were parting and unicorns were coming out when I spoke to the initial person that got me signed up. He told me I would only have to pay for an installation fee which would be $100. He ran my credit then he said they'd give me a a Visa gift card. I told him everything I wanted. I was very specific. I told him about all the windows I had in my house, all the doors, and I wanted a camera in the back doorbell and the keypad. He said, “Okay, no problem.”
When the person came out, he said it was $3,200. I told him I needed to get back to my office and to pack it up. He continued to waste my time. He said, “Give me a second. Let me call my manager.” He came back and said they could do it for 1,200. I said, “You know what? It's not your fault. That sounds great. But when that somebody tells me that I'm paying $0, and I go from paying 0 to 1,200, that’s still not enough.” He said he could call his manager again and I told him I didn't wanna sit there and haggle with him.
We went back and forth and they finally said, “What can I do for you?” I said, “You can give it to me for what I was quoted.” They got it down to 0 but the problem was they also cut out some of the things that I was gonna get. They said that they just took away the cameras for the backyard but they took away the shatterproof for the windows. The doorbell was out. The keypad was out too because he said he couldn't do something with my lock. Basically, I was left with sensors on the doors and windows and that was officially it.
When I got back home, I realized this man has left me a 1975 keypad and that was not what was on my counter. When I had them at the house, he had everything on the countertop that they were going to use. What was on my countertop was an iPad-looking thing which everybody uses in 2020. They took advantage of me because I was leaving and decided to downgrade me even more. They gave me this crap keypad because they knew I wouldn't be here. They made some excuse. I said, “Give me the manager, the same one you called 50 times while you were here.” He said, “No problem. He'll call you.” The next two days, I didn't hear anything. I called back and the next person said they'd have a manager definitely call me. It has been a week now but no one has said a thing.
On top of them being in my house for five hours, he installed the thing wrong. The alarm went off at 3 o'clock in the morning because he didn't put on the sensor for the door downstairs. I thought somebody was coming into the back door. It turned out it was a sensor that fell off the door. That's the whole reason I went with ADT rather than the do-it-yourself thing because I figured if I did it myself, that would be more likely to happen. It turns out, he stayed there for three and a half hours and still couldn't put the thing on the door right. To top it off, I got a thing in the mail from ADT yesterday for the exact same offer that someone over the phone offered me.

I was called by a manager who pressured me with multiple phone calls, and almost lost the sale because he was pressuring me, and finally because he was trying to get me to put down $99 just to get a price on this. I thought it was a bait and switch. They told me that they were going put certain things into my home that didn't end up putting in there. I thought that he packaged it was telling me that I wasn't going to have to pay anything. But what he had put me into was something much more expensive. He was getting anything to get the installer and so I kinda knew that this was going to be the case just by the way that the call is going. It just really seemed shady. The only reason that I went through with the whole purchase was the actual consultant that came to my home, the installer.
The functionality of the equipment works great. There were limitations in terms of where the keypad could go and I didn't have an available outlet. I bought the stand so that the keypad is actually portable. Since having it, I have a higher sense of security. I’m satisfied because of the way that it turns out was good. But I really felt like I was dealing with a used car salesman to make it happen. I think that there are other people who could end up getting railroaded with a bad package. I’d tell them to be careful about what ADT is going to sell to them, but the system works.

I was trying to put a security system up where I had cameras in my house alarm because there have been some car break-ins in our neighborhood. However, I regret buying ADT. It doesn't record like it's supposed to. Instead of being colored during the day, they go black. And if somebody walked in front of the cameras, it takes anywhere from two to five minutes for us to actually be able to see it. We don't get a notification for two to five minutes. ADT sent some guy out, he came out, looked at it, played with it, and the day he was there, he had it where it was coming in about one to two minutes. But then, by the time he left, it was still back to the three to five minutes before we got a notification.
It took days for a tech to come out, so we would like ADT to make sure that we got a tech that comes out a little sooner. And let people know that there is a three to five-minute delay, because had I known that, I would have not invested in ADT. I would have gone somewhere else because my neighbor has a different company, and his doesn't take two to three minutes to five minutes to notify him. It happens right away.
I'm stuck with a system that’s a piece of crap. I can discontinue the service and the rep said I have to pay 75% or 90% of the three-year contract, and I have to keep the equipment that I paid for. I spoke to ADT last Monday and told them I wasn’t happy. The rep said it would take about four days to get a tech out there. And if we wanted to cancel, we had until midnight to fax them paperwork we wanted to cancel. But I didn’t wanna cancel because I wanted the tech to come out and look at it. But I should've just canceled. We only had them in Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. I called Saturday, and then by Sunday, I was like, “Forget this.” So, she told us that she could have a tech out, and then we could cancel, but we only had until midnight last Monday, which was three days after we had the alarm system installed in. As soon as my contract is up, I'll get a different installation put in.

My abuser just got out of jail and he was showing up to my house. I have a 10-year restraining order against him and recently, I hit the police button. ADT was supposed to call me and ask if they need to send the police. I told the operator that I needed assistance but she didn't call out anybody. I had to call back and find out why it was taking forever for the cops to get here.
The lady was trying to assist me as much as she could but she said that when she was trying to dispatch the police, it wasn't going through. So, I had to hang up on her and call 911. It literally took me three calls in order to get the police here. My abuser could have come in the house and something could have happened. I have my kids here. We could have caught him down the street if that lady would have called the cops the first time. I was supposed to call back and find out if ADT can compensate me for that, because that's my life.

ADT is the worst. First off, whoever does the orders to start the service, they don't tell you exactly what you're getting and how you getting it. I was under the perception that I'm getting a video camera. I didn't know I had to purchase my own video camera or pay for it. They said first off that I was getting the video camera, the hand thing, when you come in and you turn the alarm off, and the sensors for the door. I was getting that for $27 a month. If I wanted to upgrade it and get more sensors, I could do that. I could have got it but not at $27 per month. It was not a good experience because that was false advertising. If you tell me one thing and then say another, I am totally disappointed. They also told me that the salesman will have my $100 gift card when he get here. But that was false too.
Second off, I paid 200 and something to be put down. I asked the rep if it was going towards the first month bill. She said, "Yes. That goes towards the first month bill and that's like your down payment for your security system." But it did not go towards my first month bill. Because two days after I got the system, they charged me about $30 for my bill. The lady was very nasty and said, "Yes. We charged you a month in advance." If I didn't need ADT or as soon as I find a better alarm system to go with, I'm leaving them. Their customer service is rude. The customer service rep disconnect me and hung up on me. The training that they give these people is not up to par. Because what they're selling me over the phone is not what we getting in person. I am pretty much dissatisfied. On top of that, my 13-year-old son reconnected the equipment and fixed it because the guy that did the installation did something wrong. It was horrible.

I had the CenturyLink system so I had the smart home set-up and they were getting out of the eye control. I was told that I wouldn't have use of my thermostat. Where my thermostat is located, it's hard for me to reach. That was part of the reason for getting the smart home. On December, that was gonna all go away that's why I responded to an ad from ADT. I had a good interaction with the sales representative, Josh. He told me about everything. He even promised me two additional things that I really wasn't looking for.
Josh was great. The only thing he did not tell me was that I would have to pay almost $600. I was under the impression that everything was free. They said, "We can just switch out Brinks and put you on ADT, and we can take care of finishing up the next time." When they showed up, before I even proceeded, I was told I needed to cough up $600 if I wanted it. They also had to put all the stuff in which took almost three hours and I thought I only had about a half an hour at best. The gentleman that came to put the stuff in was good. He was even willing to put on a face shield. When he came back with the lifeline, he was wearing the face shield. But I was upset because he was saying he couldn't leave until everything was installed. I really was not comfortable with him being in my house that long. I actually took my Lysol after he left and wiped down everything. I am that afraid of this virus because I know my immune system.
The main thing I was after was getting the emergency alert and the thermostat. I didn't even get the emergency alert. I had to pay extra for that. I talked to one lady and she made some adjustments. I'm waiting for my account to be corrected. I'm gonna raise hell if I don't see it soon. I wasn't even told about the $100 gift certificate and I have not been able to get this certificate offline to give to my insurance company. So hopefully, the equipment will work and it will do what I need it to do with the heating and if I need the emergency alert thing.
I was upset because of what I was told, the change of things, having to put $600 and to pay it upfront. Luckily, I had the money 'cause I just got paid my retirement. Otherwise, I would've been up the creek. A lot of seniors would scarf up the safe home thing like I did. But if they have the experience like I had, they'd walk away. When I called up to cancel my service with CenturyLink, I had the same lady when I signed up for it. I was able to say, "Thank you for your help." We had that kind of relationship. Right now, I don't have that with ADT. They should make a change in their office so the right hand knows what the left hand is doing and it's one complete picture instead of saying, "Everything's free. We got $800 worth of stuff," and then you need to pay for installation that's $600. You can't tell people one thing and then do another.

I had ADT way back in the day and I signed up with them again. Their sales reps were great and there were no problems. Their installer guy came through and he explained all the products from top to bottom. He also explained what was the best, what was the least expensive, what was the most expensive, and he broke everything down. He told me about the different plans as well. From there, I made a decision on which one was best for my home. He installed it and did a good job. It was a great experience.

I have ADT in one of my properties but not in the second one. I heard about them from brand recognition and they were the first place I called. I dealt with three different people on the phone and there was pressure for me to do an app before they could give me a final quote. I’m in sales so it’s a turnoff. The technician was nice but I’m not a big fan on how they go in for the bump. To do the remote from my phone, I went from a $27.99 quote to 53 bucks. It seemed a little pricey. I had an $1100 credit and I still had to give the rep 50 bucks more, and he was trying to sell me more than I needed. I didn’t like that. I decided I’m gonna hold off on my second property and I’ll probably look for different avenues for that home. But I am gonna start using the alarm on the property that has it. I don't have any issues with the system but I have issues with the amount of equipment that he was trying to get sold to me. The experience was a lot more than what I had planned on.

When I signed up, they asked a bunch of questions about what I needed. The ADT sales rep that showed up at the house explained exactly what was gonna happen in the prices and that's what they said over the phone. The installers explained everything, including letting me pick out what I needed for my house because there were things that I didn't need, like the window sensors. I had but one window sensor just so I could get the outside cameras and they broke it all down to the pricing and how much it would cost a month. They also told me to let them know if I have to leave the house and they will come and install the same cameras in the new house at no charge.
The guy gave me the phone number to his supervisor, so if I needed any assistance, I can call directly instead of having to call in the hotline. He also helped my sister install the alarm system on her phone. They were really nice guys. Very professional. I would recommend them to anybody. It took us a little while because our internet wasn't working. They let me call the internet company and get the internet speed up and going before they put up the cameras so they wouldn't have to come back. They stayed a long time at the house just to make sure we got everything taken care of and I truly appreciated that.

On the phone, it was sold to me as a $99 out-of-pocket fee. But once they were at my house, it was a very, very expensive product. So it was misleading. I decided to go with ADT because of the name, and I felt confident rather than going with a lesser known company. They told me I had three days to cancel, and I called within three business days. But they wouldn't let me cancel after that. They told me Saturday counts as a business day according to them.
I had it worked out where I was calling them on the last day to see if it worked out. I was gonna ask for my Refund as per the contract but they wouldn't give me the refund. My overall experience was very poor because not only do they have this three-business-day plastered all over their website, they also have the six months, no cost if you're unhappy all over their website, and there's a lot of fine print in that. They're too reputable of a company to act in a deceitful way, which they did.

I used to have ADT years ago and I never had a problem with their service in the past. The only thing I had an issue with was they said I didn’t qualify for the $100 Visa card and I didn't know why because I got an updated alarm system and a camera. It is what it is. The installation crew was good and I like the new touch keypad. But I had to have somebody come back and go over the camera thing with me. I had a problem in the beginning. I kept getting on my phone, “Battery low.” I had them sent another guy out within two days and he came and explained to me that the doorbell takes three days to charge up. I wound up having to take it off and we had to charge it.
Maybe ADT can send their doorbell camera charged up. If you know somebody who’s getting a doorbell camera, then those servicemen should have something when they first get in here to charge that doorbell up. Because why put in something and it’s not even gonna work properly when you put it in. Also, I had to find an old charger that would charge it. They need to tell people you need to have a specific cord to charge it. That's crazy. They don't even tell people this. It may happen but it shouldn't happen. I'm satisfied with ADT but they need to reassess that. I will recommend ADT but there are things that they need to work on. Still, they’re good.

I called in to AT&T and they transferred me. I was told that they had this deal and that they worked with ADT. I was transferred again and the person who answered thanked me for calling. I told the person that I got transferred and I didn’t call. Then that person transferred me again. I kept telling them that I got transferred from AT&T. Nobody seemed to know where I was being transferred from, which was very strange. I almost hung up a couple of times because they didn't even know what was going on but I stayed on the line.
The installation guy was cool but I was wondering if I could do this myself. We talked about where we were gonna put the camera in the backyard. We put it on one side so the camera was pointing at the yard from an angle. But I have string lights up and they were already up when we put the camera on. I realized at nighttime or even during the day, it's hard to see from that camera angle, because the string lights interfere with the position, especially if they're on. I wanted to move it more towards the middle of the yard, where it's just pointing at the yard in general. Also, he left a long amount of cord but it wasn't connected to anything. So I realized that he probably cut that off and then forgot to pick that part up.

ADT is a national name. It's one of the names that kinda stuck in my mind over the years. Their customer service was a little bit confusing to me because they told me some things that didn't really make a lot of sense. When I went to talk to the installer, he made it make more sense to me. He told me things that they didn't and vice versa. I was a little disappointed in that aspect of it. When the customer service talks about the equipment, they should talk about price points on each piece of equipment that they're talking about. When they say $800 worth of free equipment or even $1,490 worth of free equipment, it doesn't really add up to a lot of equipment. The items are very expensive, which I really wasn't aware of. That was the one thing that the installer was able to explain to me. Each piece was this much as opposed to not knowing in advance.
People should do a comparison with their competitors. We had Vector Security for several years, and they weren't giving anything away for free and they were very strict on their policies. One thing that kinda led me away from them is that they're not a national name, but they weren't willing to give up on anything even when I told them I was leaving.

We moved to a different area and were kind of uncomfortable. We didn't know the area very well. We were planning on staying there for quite a while so we thought we should invest in a security system. I saw that ADT had a promotion going on so we called to get some pricing. It all sounded pretty good so we went moved forward from there. Over the phone, the experience was really great. They tacked on some extra perks which was really nice since it was our first time buying a home. During the installation, Morgan was awesome. She went through everything with us and made us feel really comfortable. She took a lot of time to make sure that we had all the things in the right place.
We’ve already told a couple neighbors about ADT. We're pretty happy. I do wish is that it was a little more upfront about the pricing. We were looking into doing cameras and wasn't aware that they gave us the first camera free but it was gonna be 299 to install. That would have been good information to know upfront. Also, there's that feature where you can, put “stay” or “away.” Every time I hit “stay” or “away,” it says the same thing.

We’ve been seeing signs and commercials of ADT and we knew about it but we had AT&T. When we talked to the representative of the telephone when we got ADT, we wanted a camera. She said she would throw a camera in there. But the rep who came and put everything up said that we could get the camera for free if we upgrade first. The sales rep didn’t tell us that on the telephone. So, we were thinking the whole time that the camera went with the package.
The reps who came were both nice and didn’t leave a mess. Everything was hooked up professionally and we talked through everything. We came from an apartment and now, we have stairs and got more room, so we’re still a little shaky. But we feel more confident just knowing that if somebody comes in, we’ll know. It can speak up to us. We’ll feel more uncomfortable if we didn’t have it. We wish we could’ve gotten more equipment but it’s a little pricey. We’re happy to have ADT and we look forward once we get more established to bear the upgrade in the future and get more equipment.

Our salesman was a hassle, but the guy that came on to fix everything was great. The salesman completely screwed the thing up and put the wrong doorbell in. My house is too old. So he knew that the doorbell wouldn't work. We couldn't turn it on because of not enough power. A guy, Monty, came out and said, "Hey, salesman took advantage of you. He should have put another camera up and left your Ring doorbell up ‘cause that works great." He fixed it and put another camera on the garage.
The salesman didn’t give us a contract to give on our insurance company. I had to call and follow up on that. So far, other than ADT's customer service section who I had to call twice, they've been great. My wife was baking cookies and she sent the salesman home with a bag of fresh baked cookies, and he still took advantage of us. His name is Tim. I'm not happy with him. He was in a hurry to get the hell out of here because he did a half-assed job.
He struggled with the doorbell and couldn't get it to work. He said, "I think it's driving the voltage." But the voltage meter was wagging. I said, "This ain't gonna work." But we tried it. As soon as he left, the battery died. It would charge the ADT doorbell but didn't have enough volts to drive it. So we called, we had to wait a week, they came out and fixed it. The salesman was the worst part of the whole experience. After that, it’s been great. I had to call customer service twice, and they've been wonderful, very helpful and were making sure things got set up.
We told the salesman we want a specific password. He misspelled it. He didn't check to make sure it was spelled right. He misspelled it so we had a hell of a time getting in the first time because. We got it fixed. The system's working great. The cameras on the garage all work. I got one on the backyard, and that's working great. The Ring doorbell was fine. The system seems to be working and doing what it's supposed to do. It's going like it's supposed to go, so we're happy.

ADT has been around for as long as I've been alive but what got me to choose it was the people who did my inspection. They have a partnership with this company called Porch then Porch called me through ADT and they spoke to me about this offer. Somebody came and talked to me about it and the deal was all right so my husband and I got the system. The installation person that we had used was a real nice and cool guy. However, the alarm that we have on the back door by the kitchen is highly sensitive. Even you're in the kitchen and you close the refrigerator door or the littlest thing, that alarm is always triggering something to go off. We contacted the person who installed it and he said there was nothing they could do about it. He said to move it off the door. But if we move it off the door, the door won't be protected. That back door sensor is the most annoying.

I called to get AT&T Wi-Fi and AT&T asked me if I wanted to get home security. I just recently purchased a house, and I got a 17-month-old baby. With everything going on, I went ahead and got home security. That all went well. I got all kinds of extras and they were willing to help cover some of the cost. The downside is we're on a tight budget right now, but I talked to a supervisor and she said, “Hey, we can give you a $100 Visa gift card to help cover the installation cost.” I said, “Okay, that'll do a little better.” They did more than enough.
The gentleman that installed the system called me while I was still at work and he said, “Well, what would be a good time?” I said, “Around 5 o'clock, slow time. Because I work on fast time.” He told me to call him when I got off work, and he would meet me. I had a great experience. The ADT system is easy to use. It is a cell phone tower process. If the power goes out or if your phone lines get cut, it won't go out because it'll still go through the cell phone tower.

I've got friends that have installed their own cameras, which were primarily what I wanted. Then, I stumbled onto a website from a click. I received a phone call from ADT and from there, I was told there could be a free consultation. But it was deceiving. We were going over about what to install and I asked if the rep if they just install cameras. They said that I have to get a basic package. I decided to go with it but whoever I talked to gave me the impression that it doesn't make a difference if you get two cameras or 20 cameras. It's gonna be the same thing. They set me up however I want and then it would be just one charge per month. But it's not how they do it.
ADT charges per piece and it’s $169 per window. There was a lot of confusion on the pricing. The information could have been put in a different way. The installer was great, very polite and professional but I was completely thrown off when he showed up as far as what I got for the money. He said he gets it every day. So, however their pitch is, that needs to be changed out because there are a lot of people out there that it probably turns them off.
I do arm Away when I leave. When the guy installed the alarm, for 48 hours, he didn't activate it. I hope it's working. The only thing I do know is that if I leave the front door open, it will shoot me a text saying, “Front door open.” It will give me the time that it shuts and opens. And that's without internet. If I run for groceries and leave it open for a minute or two. I'm assuming it's working. I wish I had internet fully though. I haven't been able to use the cameras yet. So I don't know if they're gonna work or not. But as far as what I've seen so far, the experience is perfect.

I asked a lot of questions and he explained everything down to the micro-bit. He showed me that there were a bunch of different options of what I could do and we went with what I thought was best. I didn't feel like I was being pressured to buy everything that was on the list. I love the system. I don't have the doorbell thing right now but that's something that I'm eventually gonna do in the future. Once I do get Wi-Fi, I will be upgrading my system. Then, they scheduled a date to send a representative out to do a install and a full understanding of what the requirements were. It took about a week. The discount was $800 worth of equipment. We don't have a big house but to do the house, it may be another almost $1,000 of equipment. So, that surprised me. Then, the appointment was late and it took the rep about five hours to install. So he was here from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM, which was kind of odd. But everything got installed and everything works. ADT should make the initial estimate a little bit clearer. Yesterday, I called the agent, Ulysses. He's the one who installed my ADT system. I wanted to ask him a few questions and he didn’t answer his call. I left a message but he didn't call me back. He never told me anything about the license. I wanted to know if I need a license for any false alarm. He needs to explain that to me. He also told me he would send me a sign but it's been 10 days and I don't have a sign yet.
I'm even thinking of canceling the whole thing now because I'm not hearing from him even though he was very good. The first day, he was very attentive. He came in, gave me all the details and we signed on with him. I didn't get a chance to shop around. He answered all our questions and installed everything. He put all the sensors on the windows and the doors and made sure that they were okay. He worked good and he was very kind and respectful. He was so patient and was giving us a lot of details about the system as first-time customers. He made a better offer than what he had originally given. He was cooperative and he wanted to satisfy our needs.
When I called in, they didn't give me any information about anything, how much it is and what we needed to do. All they said was that the representative would come and explain everything to me. However, when he came in, right away, he wanted to create a password and he wanted to go ahead with the whole thing as if it’s a done deal. I said, “Hold on. I know nothing about this. I know nothing about the initiation. I know nothing about the equipment cost. What are you doing?” He said, “I'm just getting the information so we can start.” I had to stop him there. I've known about ADT through a couple of my friends. My friend in Erie just bought a house with his fiancée. They got ADT and they liked it. The big thing with ADT was the smart aspects of it. I am very much into smart technology and automating things. I really liked the fact that ADT had this control app that lets you control different things, like the front lock, the back door lock, the thermostat and even the lights. The big selling point for me was home automation. I like the ease of use, the accessibility of the phone app, the functionality, and the features it has. I like the fact that I can pretty much control the entire system from my phone and I can always and add more to it later on.
When I first got this security system installed, I kinda wished they told me upfront some of the other things I could automate. It would have been nice to have those options. I didn't even know I could automate my door lock. Instead, I had to get another tech to come down and install the thermostat. That was an additional installation fee that I probably could have avoided if I just knew all the options I had upfront and got all of them at once. I just thought I was gonna get a basic security. I just had the technician come down because I wanted a quote. I didn't think I was gonna go through and get it. Once I found out about automating the locks and all that, I was like, “Okay, I'm just gonna get it now.”
The guy that came to install the system was great. He was really nice, informative and helpful. He was quick and efficient too. He kept it easy and simple but when he went to install the security console, he left a hole in the wall. By the time he was done, all he did was just stuff the hole with newspaper. I've called ADT about it and complained. They said it's gonna take five to seven days for his supervisor to look at it. It was a pretty serious issue. I just moved into a new home and I have part of my wall destroyed. When the second tech came to install the ADT thermostat, he even made an additional note because he said it was crazy to just leave it like that. I'm getting contracting work done. I'm getting the flooring done upstairs. I asked one of the contractors, "If I throw you some money on the side, do you think you can help patch this hole up?” They patched it up but you can still see it. Now, I have to get it painted somehow to cover it up.
Sometimes the customer service line is a little difficult to get ahold of. It took me a while to inquire about the thermostat and get an appointment scheduled. But the overall experience has been has been really good. The system works good. I like the way the equipment looks. It looks nice. It's not invasive. The functionality and the price is fairly decent.

ADT was misleading. They should be honest with people. Honesty is the best policy. They could improve on being upfront about the cost of things and what's included. I went with them because of their promotion but I'm not happy with the procedure and the price. They lure you out there with $850 worth of equipment then you get a sales rep that puts a little pressure on you to get the stuff. That's when you get into the gist of things and when they break it down, it's not what you anticipated.
I don't have a problem with the security system but the installer put three holes in my walls that didn't need to be. He didn't pay for the stuff to fix the walls. I went and bought it but. That was out of my pocket but it wasn't my fault that he put the holes in the walls. He ruined my whole Saturday. My appointment was between 8:00 and 9:00. He came at 8:00 AM on the dot and didn't leave until probably 7:00. I told him at the beginning that I wanted the video doorbells. That's what really made me wanna get the security thing. It turns out I will have to have wired doorbells to get that so I didn't even get that. I still settled for the little things on the door and windows. That was a lot so that was $1,300. I don't even know where the $850 worth in free equipment went.

Having kids, my favorite feature is telling me when they open the door or windows, the chime, 'cause I know when they're running in and out of the house.
I had one issue. I was leaving the front door open when I was trying to turn the system off and leave. I wasn’t using my remote on my key fob and I called them and set up a callback. They called me back and I stood beside the thing. They told me how to fix it instantly. Super good customer service. Everything's been super great. We love the system so far. ADT is super simple and easy. Any questions you have to ask, you call and they can pretty much tell what it's gonna cost and what you're approved for, they run the little check.

I heard about ADT through word of mouth and their advertisements, and because of their brand name and the sophistication of their equipment, I went with them. John, the technician, tried to sell but he was great. The features are good and I like them. I would like to get cameras but they were extremely expensive. After I speak with them and test it to make positive that there has been a signal, my sense of security will be at 100%. I would like to set the alarm off with somebody, and they can tell me that they're getting the signal just to make sure it works.

I know a lot of family members and friends that had been going with ADT for years. ADT's been around since I was a kid so I also did some research and looked up that they are one of the number one security system services. My family comes first so I definitely wanted my home protected with one of the best security services around that's why I picked ADT. The guy that came out to install was professional and everything was up to par. He took care of us in my home and I appreciated it. He showed me how to operate the system. This was the first time I've had an ADT system. He showed us tricks on how to arm and disarm the system and how to use the keypad. He went over the basics with us. He was good with demonstrating. He's a good worker.
It is nice to be able to disarm the system without having to punch in the keypad because my keypad is a little bit away from my door and sometimes the light is off. It’s nice to know that you can disarm it straight from your phone. It’s a really cool feature. As far as the service, it’s great. They have done an amazing job. It's just that I haven't received the gift card that they offered with the package. When I initially signed up, they said there's a $100 visa card that the gentleman went over with me. He gave me a number. He said sometimes it’s in my spam and to check it. I called ADT about 3 days ago and they took my information again. They told me to continue to check my email for the gift card to redeem the gift card. I was looking forward to getting it so I can give to my son.

I was calling ADT for information at the time and the rep put me on with her supervisor. I ended up getting a lot of free stuff, but made up for the increase in cost, when I really was looking apples to apples. It was more than I was wanting to spend. But the amount of freebies that they were giving me kinda made up for it in the long run. Because I was able to do a video doorbell and a video camera outside that I hadn't planned on doing.
The system is really easy to work with. I have reprogram myself to remember I have an app. But I wish that I had an option other than a box when I'm setting up sensitive zones. I really need like a triangle because of the setup of my yard. Two sides of my house have streets and if I do a bigger box then I get notification every time a car passes by. But if I had a triangle instead of a box, I could eliminate the street and have a better sensitivity for movements.
So far, I've had a very good experience. The only negative experience I've had was that the video doorbell was not charged. I thought it was hardwired in because that was a discussion that we had with the installer. The reason we went to the front door was that there was a hardwire doorbell there, instead of doing the back door like I wanted because there was just a battery doorbell there. But I didn't realize that it was a battery doorbell and that I would have to take it off and charge it like every two months or so.

He said he was gonna go and come back that same week on Saturday the next day, but he never came back. I contacted ADT and they said that somebody will be coming out next week Saturday. I paid the $327 upfront. ADT charged my card way before the installation was done. The guy I spoke with at ADT gave me $20 off for my payment. I don't like that there's no motion detector. What's the point of even having the system if I'm not gonna get any alerts on my phone that people are coming in and out. It wasn't done like how it was supposed to be done. It was just a whole lot of talk and no action.

I called and told ADT that I wasn't happy with their $48 charge and they said that their rep misunderstood things and that I would get the $27.99 rate.
I put this system in the house for a child who has disabilities. She tried doing the numbers and setting the alarm but it wouldn't work for her. She didn't want the ADT system and it was making her nervous and upset. I cancelled the service. ADT has a great system. There's also a guy named Alejandro who comes here about these things. He was the one who did my system in installation. He went outside and put the cameras so I can see my windows and my door. I can see my car, the back door, and half of the neighbors' cars. I look at the cameras on my phone and everything looks beautiful. I set up the alarm system on top of my desk. It's a quick reach when I open the door and it's perfect.
I have good service and everything is wonderful. I will recommend ADT to anybody who wants the alarm system in the house because I like it myself. But something happened by mistake and I got switched to another company. That company sent me a battery and I refused it. I called ADT and told them I had to go back to my ADT. Also, do not agree with the battery system thing. For seniors, the batteries should be kept within arm's reach because some people can't climb up the stairs to go change them. I went through that problem. I cannot go up the steps on my ladder. It's a three-step ladder and still too much for me. You charge the battery for eight hours then put it back in. That’s not a good deal. I do not recommend anybody to take that battery system.

We've used ADT before in different situations. We knew it was a good product. They came to the house to get the system set up. We bought the whole package because we can use it on our phone as an app to lock doors. The tech set it up totally because it hadn't been to that extent before. We have a Shih-Tzu and the motion detector does not pick her up. He aimed everything above.
ADT is one of the best-quality systems there is. It's well-advertised on TV. We used it for my mother when we haven't sold her house. There was four of us and we were spread out in Georgia, Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia. Any one of us could take care of the house through the ADT system. All of us were checking on each other that we had locked doors and we could do it from anywhere. I have forgotten a time or two to lock the front door and I did it by the phone app. So that's really nice not to have to go back to the house. Another thing I really like is when somebody rings the doorbell, you can go on the app and see who it is through the phone.

My first experience with ADT has been terrible. I was lied to. When I did this over the phone, they told me I will be getting a Ring doorbell and two cameras. They also said I will be getting a keypad for my door and eight contacts for my windows and three contact for my door. I asked what would my monthly payment be and the guy said it'd be $53 a month. I asked how do I get their service. He said that'd be $99 and I had to pay for it with a credit card. He also said I would get a $100 gift card back.
When they came to my house, the guy told me the only thing I was getting are the door contacts and my window contacts. They gave me the smoke detector and the carbon monoxide detector which were promised to me at the beginning but I didn't get my cameras, my key thing for the door and my key fobs. The service tech was obviously in a super hurry so I didn't appreciate that. I'm not computer savvy with the phones. He kept telling me what I needed to do and I don't like it. I was so disgusted with the service. He never even left me the paperwork on what he installed in my house so I don't know my contract number to get my Visa card.
I talked to some lady named Debbie. She told me that none of that stuff comes free. I said that was not what the guy told me. I told her the day they put the service in, "You can come pick all this ** up. It's that easy. I'm not in breach of a contract." She said that I was. I said, "All I got to do is have my lawyer go back to that date that I talked to this guy over the phone and everything's gonna come out and show that I'm not crazy. This is what I was promised." She said, "This is what I could do for you. I can write you all five months with a service." I didn't think that was enough but I just said to skip it because I needed an alarm system in my house. They already drilled it out so I left it alone. But I still didn’t get my door key thing or none of that stuff.

It's kinda frustrating to have to go through the emails and I get that about every 10 minutes. I have about 50 of them in one day. It was my intent at that time to call ADT and strongly protest the rep’s presentation, her attitude and things of that nature. She was the first one I contacted and once I started asking important questions, that ticked her off. The conversation was going so badly. I started questioning her about a number of things. Her demeanor was bad and she got irritated with me. And at one point in time, I even said that the phone call was not going very well at all. I’ve done sales and I’m on the business of choice too. You don’t get ticked off verbally or if you were together, visibly. You have those skills and you should have that initial training process on how to get around that and still not aiming at the customers.
We stuck it out because we needed ADT. They are someone I've been familiar with. I was part of law enforcement from quite a while ago. I did crime prevention in addition to other things and ADT is one of those that I always recommended. It was their track record and recognition. Anyone who looks at the door and they see the ADT sticker or sign, and you’re ready to go. It’s a reliable company. Everything about this has been good. It's just that initial customer service rep and the offer she did when I deviated and asked questions that weren’t on the script. She did not even offer to get back to me with the questions.
The installation process was good but within the next day, we left and went to a family visit out of state. So, we haven't had the time to go and play around with it. We're using it primarily through the phone right now since it has a simplified interface but we've got the book out here or the thing that he left on the procedures. The guy didn’t leave the contract though nor an instruction manual other than this bifold paper. We don't have the contract that we initially signed and he said all this stuff was gonna be sent to us, but I haven’t seen it. Still, we’d recommend ADT. The experience with the initial contact and the unpleasant experience is not indicative of ADT overall.

I have the strobe lights and sirens outside, which I really wanted. I'm in a complex and every building has the same address. So, if the police were called, where do you go? He had them on the truck, which ADT told me they might not be carrying them on the truck. It was good. It's enjoyable. But I'm still having problems with my system. I trip it every day.
When I set the system manually, I'll press “away.” I’ll wait a couple of seconds till it starts counting down. I walk towards the main door and the alarm. I assume it's going off because it had noted a fault. Now, it starts ringing, so I have to set it off and start over again. Then, I'll have to press the “away” button and wait a few seconds like I always do. And then, it’ll work. It usually takes two tries and then, I try it with the remote. I'll do it inside and the same thing happens. It'll trip as I move after the alarm is set for “away,” and starts counting down.
I also tried to set the alarm away outside with the remote. I could hear the alarm counting down but I don't hear nothing at the end because usually, an automated voice that says, “Away,” or “Armed,”. I don't hear that, so I don't know if the system is armed or not. There's no way for me to check. So I'm having little issues like that. I'm not an electronic guy. I just put the security system, the camera system in, and I have to wait for somebody to come to do the software for me because I can't do it.
We have ADT at home. I had the old system. It's much easier for me. But then, we upgraded too. It's nice to have the key fob. So it went beautiful. The tech was fantastic. He was a very nice guy. When I first started looking at ADT, it was offered at a much lower price than what I was using at that time. I got some information on the sales from the salesperson. I supported all the details that I was currently having at that time, and for that, I was told that it was covered with $28 or $39. But halfway through the installation, the installation person told me the rate, which was much, much higher than what I was told and what I was under the impression. So my experience was really not good.

A lot of people have ADT. I did a little research and saw that it was one of the larger companies and have a presence here in our town. I've known about them for years. The rep was accommodating and seemed to know what he was talking about. He was a good salesperson. The installation team had to struggle a bit. They were here the whole day because of getting everything working. It was not that we have that complex of a setup, but it was some equipment problems. But they got it figured out. They were gonna be here in the morning and I scheduled my morning to be free but I had some stuff going on in the afternoon.
By the time it got to the point where they have answered questions or told me about it, they were through and I was in the middle of something. So I missed some of the explanations and stuff that I would have liked to have heard. But it wasn’t their fault. It was just the way it was. They were certainly here long enough but they were nice people.
We had a sensor that was set up in our bedroom that wouldn't work there because the blinds interfered with it. We had to do something different so we had another person come out. We decided we had to do a motion sensor instead of that sensor. So they had to be ordered. We're still in the process of setting it up. We have not turned it on yet because we didn't get off to a smooth start. And then, we have company here, too, which makes it hard to start up something like that as they come and go. Still, ADT worked out fine.

I got a hardwired system and then, we did glass breakage and smoke alarms. There's a carbon monoxide detector too. The installer didn’t do a very great job. One of the complicating factors was I had a hardwired system and he didn't have a whole lot of experience doing those. He was more qualified to put in the wireless systems than that. He gave me the manual but we didn't even activate the system because after he left, the system wasn't working. I called the technician the following week. That guy didn't come to the property but tried to debug it remotely. He took about two hours but he couldn't get it to work right. So, today, someone else came out to try to work on it. They said it needs to almost be completely reinstalled.
ADT is a big company and they have a lot of local service. The company I had before faded off and they're not as engaged or involved in the area. ADT’s customer service is not that great though. When you call, you're on hold for 15 minutes before you can talk to someone. But when you finally get to talk to someone, they’re responsive.

The rep said the sale hurts him as a salesman if I say anything, if I even call for help with my system. He said it reflects on them. But I didn't appreciate him telling me that. And the other thing was he stood out to me while I rated him. That was not very professional. Other than that, the system works great and it's easy to operate.

Back then, you used to be able to turn your system on and off remotely from your telephone as you couldn't do it online then. Now, you have to upgrade so much to get that service. It used to be when you used to pay for maintenance, you would get that feature included. That's the only disappointment that I have. You're not able to arm or disarm your system when you're away from the home unless you pay for a higher level of service. Other than that, everything works as advertised. I had an idea of what I wanted but the sales rep asked me on how many windows I have in the home, how many doors and how many of this, this and this. They were gonna charge me 100 bucks and someone would come out. So, when I told them I wanted the price shopped, the lady I was on the phone with put me on hold to see if there were additional discounts. And then, her manager hopped on the phone and put me in another high-pressure sales situation trying to get me to say yes. They have to try to drum up business but I specifically asked them not to put me in that high-pressure sales situation. I wasn't a big fan of that. But ultimately, I still had the ADT system installed.
The installation was great and the guy who came out was very clear with me on all of the areas of the home that he thought we should protect and what was the best recommended device for it. If I had gone with what the people on the phone had said, they were saying I needed glass breaks because I had a dog. But the tech said that if my dog barks, he could set those glass breaks off. So, it was probably not the best bet. He was very professional, knowledgeable and he did a fantastic job installing everything in my home. I would totally recommend the in-home service to anybody but for that call center service, we're basically at the opposite end of that.

I was perusing Facebook one day and this little thing popped up about veterans. The caption said, "I'll save my dad $850 on the security." My curiosity was beamed up at that time. So, I clicked on it and ADT was there. My wife and I had been discussing about possibly doing something security-wise. We both are not as young as we once were so that was what prompted it. I asked her about it and she said she would be listening to what they have to say. The rep showed up and did his spiel. The next thing I know, I'm signing up for a security system. The installation process took the guy maybe an hour. I only needed two doors and three windows that I wanted him to install the stuff on. I told him to come and go as he needed to. He was fine to do that and he did do that a couple times.
The rep wore his mask but he didn't put on any kind of shoe covering. They should be equipped with foot coverings that just slip on and off of their shoe, boot or whatever they've got on. That way, they won't be tracking any kind of dirt or anything in and out of the home. If they need to go back out to the van, they can slip them off, run over to the van, get what they need to get, come back and put them back on. And especially with this COVID going around right now, that would show the homeowner that they were here to help protect us with the outside elements and they would take whatever precautions necessary. I am a manager of field consultants and we try to do everything we can to keep the customer fully aware and safe at all times.

The installer just put it right at the bottom. So when I dropped my shade, it hits it. And the first time I did it, it set the alarm off because it's got the window vibrator thing in it.

There is a thing that is different that they didn't have before or maybe I didn't use it before. If you walk out and forget, you can engage the system when you get to your car. When you come back in, you could do the same thing. If you have groceries, you might be trying to put your groceries down and close the door and all that. You can already disengage the alarm to make things quicker for you. I like to do that.
I feel secure having ADT on every door and every window. I've tested them, opened up the windows when I was at home and they will tell you which window is open. I wanted to beef up security and I worked with Protect Your Home and ADT. The rep who went over the features with us and set us up with a plan was informative and accurate with his information.
Also, it was fine when their guy came out for the install. He was generous and he walked me through the stuff. When my internet wasn't working, he tried to help me by opening up his hotspot so I could use his hotspot to activate my app. And when that wasn't working, he pulled out his app and showed me how to work my app once I get my app up instead of leaving me there to try to figure it out on my own.

They also told me the monthly price and I was a little bit surprised with the total price of the security equipment when the technician was here. It was a little bit of pressure to just go for whatever they said. There was a little bit on comfort there, but not in a sense of the technicians and how they went about it. They should be more informative upfront and say that the 24.99 a month is just for the basic package and they still need to communicate the equipment.
I was expecting around $28.99 but now I'm paying $60 a month. Then my total security equipment was around $2,400, which requires four months installment. Learning that when the technician was at my house was very frustrating because there's a lot of other costs involved of me coming in this house. He also wanted the first payment when he came out. If I would’ve known that, I would have waited a few weeks versus the technician coming in the day after I moved in. When they called to tell me about the system and how much it would cost, it sounded like it was reasonable. It's $27 a month. But then when the representative who installed it came out, he was giving us at least $60 a month, and it's really my daughter who's the one paying for it. So, that was too much. Then all the perks that we thought we were gonna get kinda went away.
ADT should be honest about what a customer is getting. They should have told us that we're getting the minimum, that we're not getting any monitors, we're just getting the window things. They should say that when they call you, and then be honest also about how much the equipment actually costs. On the phone, they were saying we were getting $1,800 credit, but the system was gonna cost $4,000. It's really misleading how they get in the home. Then, we were under the impression that somebody was just gonna come and talk to us. The representative was very nice, but it was like, "You do it now or the perks go away." The person that came out was very good, but there was a communication gap between all three companies that work together to get this sold to the customer.

When I spoke to the original people that offered the system of ADT once I started to look around for security systems, ADT seemed like they were offering a large amount of equipment for free as a part of it. ADT has been around for a long time. Knowing that they connect directly through their system to the fire and police is important. As long as they continue to talk about that and a lot of times they've been doing it, it’s a valued asset.
However, when they were setting me up, it took quite a long time. It could have been a little bit more quick and efficient than it was. It took a good 20 minutes to finally go through all the verbiage and exactly what the cost might be and the equipment. They really couldn't tell me what system that I would have to use, which I figured, since I don’t have the cameras and the multiple information of going through the security system, both for fire and everything else, that I'd probably wind up spending a larger amount monthly, which is the case. So, they could have done a little bit of a better job of explaining that.

I was online searching for home security services and it came down between ADT and SimpliSafe. ADT was the one that reached out to me after my inquiry. Also, I used them in the past. With the package that I got, I like that you can use your phone to do anything you need to do remotely. There are a lot of the functions that I haven't been able to figure out yet though. The guy who did the installation left me with a number but I haven't had time to call in and get somebody to give me a class. My satisfaction rate with ADT is high. It has been good so far and it seems to be doing its job. It’s dependable and very user-friendly.

My husband wanted the system. I could have cared less. But it makes him feel safer so, “All right, next.” The rep, who was also the installer, was great. We have the sensors and we use the app. However, I emailed ADT because there were two issues. Right now, we're getting billed monthly, but we would rather pay for that outright for the year. I would much rather just pay that every October or November. If we paid 700 bucks, it's done. It's over with. I don't see it every month.
The guy who came was really wonderful. He installed the whole system and in the basement, one of our sensors already needed a new battery. We thought, “Well, that's odd. Why would we need a new battery?” We got a little alert on the phone that said, “Hey, your battery is low.” And it didn't tell us which window, so we had no idea which one it was. We went around and looked at it. I called them yesterday, but it was a 30-minute wait. I'm satisfied with the system, but would I recommend it to someone? No, because we don't need it.
Hi Jonathan! We appreciate your review, and while you may not feel a "need" for the system, know that, with the system there, our ADT has watch over your home 24/7. That is extra peace of mind! The sensor issue with the low battery, shows in our system, and we will send you a Private Message with further information regarding that. Additionally, if you would be so kind to email our office at AlwaysThere@adt.com with your verbal security PW, we would be happy to update you to a yearly recurring payment. That can also be done by visiting myadt.com or calling back at 1 800 238 2727. Thank you!- Tim L

I was trying to get internet and the internet company referred me to ADT. Their sales person was good. I'm not happy with the window shocks though. The second the windows are open, the whole alarm system is triggering. I called on Friday to the agent that came in and installed them, he said he'd call me back. Here it is, Monday, I've not yet heard from him.
Hello Tammy. We are sorry for this frustrating experience. At your convenience please contact us at 1-800-238-2727. We'd be happy to troubleshoot further or arrange for a service tech to come out and help address these issues. -Andrew

The system was acting a little funny but now it’s getting better. It’s working properly. I was waiting to see if any issue happened again so I would call. But so far, it’s okay. I like the system because it makes everything feel a little bit more comfortable. Sometimes I’m not home and I feel my family feels much better about it.
