    When I called initially, the rep helped out a lot and answered all the questions. Even the tech, when he came in, talked us through where we should put all the sensors. I was out of the house and my mom was home so he called us whenever he had a question. So, he did good. I haven't had anything I dislike about the system although when I talked to the rep on the initial call, I thought I was getting the touch screen. I’m fine with what we have but there was a huge difference in the price.

    The rep and her boss were both pleasant. The installer was very down to earth as well. He made me feel comfortable and it was like I didn't even think he was a tech. He was calling me a friend.     My sales rep was very nice. When I called, she thought it was going to be a switchover because I had a system. It turned out, it couldn't be because Time Warner or Spectrum has encoded everything so ADT can't get into it. That was fine and was no big deal. It's just that I had a sensor on my basement door and I didn't get that with ADT. I would have to pay more for it. My technician was great and he showed me everything like how the system worked. I had an alarm before so I was familiar with how it worked. The people, on the whole, were very customer-friendly and it was easy to deal with them.

    Last night, we were out and I got an email. I have a glass break thing and the alarm went off. I came home and one of my puppies had gotten a glass dressing model out of the recycling and must have dropped that. I liked that the system didn't immediately call the police. If I hadn't responded, they would have but that would have been such a waste.

    I will have to call about the glass break because it is probably a little too sensitive. The glass didn't even break. The system just heard the noise of the glass dressing model dropping on the ground. The technician told me I could get the glad break system adjusted and maybe I should have done that. The glass break is a nice option to have for people, especially if you have an animal in the house. You can't have the motion detector. I have dogs so they set it off.

    ADT originally reached out to us when we first moved but we didn't go with them right away because price-wise, it wasn't feasible for us. But it seemed like every time I tried to get information about another company, ADT was the one that returned my calls. In the end, we were able to work something out and so far, everything has been okay. But when we talked to one of their sales representatives, there were a lot of details that were left out and a lot of stuff that we were promised were not delivered. So, they need to be more open on all the options of the client that they're trying to get and they need to explain more in detail, not try to sell them on the stuff. But the technician explained a lot to us and our interaction with him was very pleasant. As for the system, so far, it's good and we don't have any complaints.

    ADT did an install recently on a new home we purchased. We called to get some help after the install. No response. Left message. No response. Decided we would like to cancel after 6 days. They will no let us cancel because it was after 3 days, even though we called within 3 days and never got a response. The eqpt and what is offered is not worth the $. The customer care was terrible. They are more concerned about their 3 day policy than making sure customers like their product. Never again ADT. Don't get sucked in.

The reps told me about the package that we were getting as far as the security system itself and we talked about video. But they didn't quote a price on that.     The guy on the phone was fantastic but the guy who installed the system didn’t seem interested in installing a doorbell camera. Otherwise, everything was fine. It's only been a couple of weeks and it's been smooth sailing so far. I liked the control panel where I can see all the cameras at once. But I wish I could get the doorbell camera. I was very disappointed and I’m still trying to get over that.

    I had ADT in my other home and I shut the service off about three years ago. I decided to reinstall because I liked it at my other house and it was good. It was before the days of the cameras. The rep was not bad but the problem was he had to rush and he trained me somewhat but he didn’t set the cameras up good. I had to have another guy come back and link it with my phone because it was constantly going off. He set the perimeters up but it would pick up everything. It continued to do that but I finally figured it out by calling back and forth with the ADT reps. I can go to a desktop and change it but I'm still having the same issues. I finally shut the notifications off of my phone because they trip all the time. It kept me up all night long one night. It was every few minutes. It's not doing its job at all.

    I haven't called ADT since they came out a couple of days ago. I was gonna give ADT a call and tell them that I was dissatisfied on the camera side. I've had to take time off for them to come out and meet them. If we can get it rectified, then I will keep it. But if not, then I want to go to a basic service because it's a nuisance. But I have the automation lock and it works great. It’s accessible from the panel on my telephone and setting it is great.

The only thing was when I called, the rep told me it was gonna be 27.99 and told me about all these features that I would have installed.     I initially called and we spoke about it was a new home, and we mentioned there were few sensors that were installed by the builder. They mentioned that when someone comes out, they'll do an assessment, that most likely the sensors that are currently in the home may be able to be used and be changed to a credit, and then the little things such as the doorbell and possibly some other things to be considered when somebody comes out for my installation.

    The first technician that came out on the first appointment was Howell. He was nice, but in the long run, he was pretty much focused on commission, which led me to have a headache of the other appointments. Instead of doing an honest assessment that would be best for my home, he did a package that was best for his outcome or pay. I told him that he can't utilize some things that I currently have, that this is a new home, we’ve barely been here a month, let me just go into my research and I wanna see if there's any other providers that may be able to honor what I currently have versus paying out $500 for a package and it's not lining up to what I was told when I initially called. He told me that it was fine. He had to leave the items that was there in my home and someone else had to come out to take them away.

    I called it to customer service the same day that he was out there. We spoke. Someone said that they would send a more skilled technician to my home. That guy came out. Pretty much, he didn't understand what was the concern. He asked me where I wanted my cameras. I told him where and he installed those. Then I asked why the sensors were there even though I told them we weren’t activating those. They were already installed in my door and around my windows. Howell stated that time that I had to get all new sensors inside my windows, which was gonna be another price package and that was the reason why I just went ahead and said that if we'd do anything, we do the sensors for the doors and get the cameras front and back.

    I asked if he referenced the note. I gave him a little speech on what was going on, to find out he could do it, he brought the actual transmitter to do it, but instead of checking to see where my box was to do the transmitting piece, which needed a key, and I wasn't aware of. I had to reach out to the people that did the electric piece of the house and ask them if they had the key. They had it, but it was gonna be two hours out so he could not wait. I had to call them again to get someone else to come in.

    There's a lot of confusion about pricing too and the ADT website does not give any insight on it. There's no document that says they have a package for this amount, or in case you have this, we take this off. It's almost like we have a set package and the items are not compatible, so we have to go with this, to a point I was lied to. Package can be helpful. They also need to be honest and upfront.

    Throughout this whole time, I paid my initial $99 for the appointment. I even swiped my card for the 498 that he did. And then because I wasn't even officially installed, I was already charged for the first one, which I understand that's the billing process. I give it that. ADT is getting everything in reference to a financial standpoint, but they're not doing me right. Before going with them, do all research. If I would do a comparison, then maybe consider them, but it's where almost to a point the blind’s leading the blind because I have to trust what they're telling me. If something doesn't feel right, just say, “Hey, pause. Let me really think about this because I feel like I'm making a rash decision that's not the best and not what I wanted.”

    ADT is an industry leader and it's synonymous with home protection, which made me decide to go with them. The rep was very knowledgeable but intentionally persuasive. The initial phone call lasted 45 minutes and the same result could have been accomplished in a much shorter time period. On the initial installation, there were some issues where the tech needed to reach out to a dispatch center that took a long time to work through. It was an extended installation. It lasted six hours when we didn't even have internet to install cameras. It seemed like something that certainly shouldn't have taken that long and part of that is due to dispatch being difficult to reach and maintain contact with. The system has been great so far although I thought the cameras would alert on motion and they don't send alerts through the app. Also, having someone drilling holes in your wall that's not a contractor is something that people may have to be prepared for.

    When I first had ADT, I was setting my alarm thing and I was opening my door to leave and I would leave within 60 seconds. When I came home the first three or four times, I came back into my house and it didn't even acknowledge that I even came in or out of my house. I wasn't too happy with it on the first day. But now, it has been working perfectly ever since the second day. ADT had a really fast response whenever there was a false alarm. When the sensor on my bathroom window fell off, they notified me immediately. They called me to make sure everything was safe. I told them that I wasn't home and they sent people out to make sure everything was good.

    I’m still not available to go to my house and my neighborhood has said that the alarm keeps going off for the back window. My neighbor is very upset about that. I was told that I'd have to be home in order to shut it off. That's the part that I don't like. They should be able to do it over the phone since they are the control.

    I was not happy with the guys who were telling me some of the things that I could do and selling me information because I was sold a bill of goods. I asked the individual if I could use my Xfinity software, door sensors and things of that nature associated with the ADT hardware, and he said yes. That was one of the things that I based my decision to go with them but when the ADT rep showed up, he said that they couldn’t tie into Xfinity sensors. So, I ended up getting more sensors than I was led to understand that I needed. I was thinking I was going to get the 28.95 because I didn't have to get any other sensors or pay anything for it other than what came with the package. But it didn't. So, I ended up with the $950 equipment package that they originally provided me. But Jeremy, the guy who did the installation, was marvelous and did an outstanding job. He went out of his way to make me happy.

    One of the things that I had a discussion with the sales guy was that I have the cameras and the system, and all I got to do is put it in there. I asked a specific question and I was surprised that he gave me the answer that since Jeremy was gonna be up there, he could help me install it or pull the wires. So, when I talked to Jeremy, he said he didn’t know why they told me that but he would help because he wanted to. I told him that I only want him to pull the wires and he said he would do it. So, Jeremy was good. He was late for his next appointment and I said that this was teetering on what's going to happen whether I'm going to get it or not. I already got the system in here and the one thing that they have over Comcast is that this is cable-based. So if somebody cuts my cable, I'm done. But ADT has a phone-based system, which makes it okay.

    Even though ADT gave me a $950 credit for the equipment, by the time I picked up the additional sensors, the glass breaker and the other things, I ended up spending an additional $1,400. So, I had to get my wife in there. We were bantering back and forth and Jeremy ended up showing us something that we wanted to demo. He only provided one keypad and we talked about the other keypad and he got me a break on the cost of the keypad, which my wife saw and she said she was good. We now have another keypad, which was the same thing that we had with Comcast, and that was the selling point. It's small and looks like an iPad and that was the point that she accepted it.

    I told Jeremy that it was a good thing that he was talking to his supervisor. He gave us quite a break because it went down from 2,200. I said I wasn’t paying $2,000 because I already got this equipment in here. So when he got it down and he was able to fix it for me, I said that I was gonna move with them. If it wasn't for ADT's other people and I'm giving them kudos, ADT would have probably lost this business. I'm disappointed and if I were to recommend it to a friend, I would tell them to be careful what these guys are telling them over the phone. It was my understanding that the installer would show up and explain to me what I need and what can be done. So, it put him in a predicament also.

    I googled home security systems and the ones that were of good quality. I tried to get the best bang for my dollar. I had Xfinity for a long time, and I don’t feel like I got what I was paying for. I went with ADT, and I had a good experience with the installation. The installer seems very knowledgeable of what he was selling. The price on the product, to me, seems a little high. I understand that they try to shoot for quality, but nowadays consumers also have the obligations of being able to purchase do-it-yourselves. They're not as good quality that ADT is selling, but I just feel like for a system like that's in an apartment, that seemed a little bit high to me. Other than that, I’ve been pretty satisfied so far.

    The gentleman from ADT who called me was very polite. He said that everything will be covered for a monthly payment of $28.99 but my daughter-in-law who recently had ADT installed told me that it was very inexpensive. But all the equipment costs are charges that you pay too. I didn't realize that. I should have realized that because there was a lot of equipment in this house. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the way they acted and I've always heard good things about them.

    The installer came out on a Saturday morning between 7:45 and 8 o'clock which was early and then he was here all day. He went over everything with me. I’ve forgotten already half of what he has told me but I know that everything works. He was very knowledgeable, nice, courteous, efficient and he knew what he was doing. Every time I open a door, I have to be mindful that it's gotta be closed within a very short period or the alarms go off. That's something I have to work on or else, during the day, put it as non-operating. I am very satisfied with the system. As the days go on, I learn more and get more comfortable with it.

    The installer was very informative. He was not too bad of a guy. The alarm went off a couple of times. That the place was small for him to work but he did it. He seemed like he wanted to get out there but I had a couple of questions. He came back in at least two times when he talked with me. He said I could get a $100 visa but I haven't received my gift card yet. That aside, I like that with the system, I’m not worried about who is by the door or the window. My son has insomnia and he is always waking up his sister. If I fall asleep, they end up waking me up because they scare themselves and the system is giving them that extra security.     I recently lost my husband on February the 15th and I felt I needed the security in my home when I was away. An ADT offer popped up on the screen on my Yahoo mail and I thought it was the right time. The installer got here at 8:00 and he was gone by 11:30. He was wonderful and he explained everything. He did the walkaround and we decided on something a little safer than just the doors. He put in smoke alarms at each end.

    I got in my car and set my alarm with my phone on the first day. That's pretty neat. The other night, I had already set my alarm for my doors and I couldn't find my cellphone. I opened the back door and the alarm started beeping. My granddaughter came running. I told her, "I forgot about it. I was going out back to get my phone. I left it out back."     The installation of my ADT system went pretty good. I was a little bit disappointed because from what I understood from the get-go, I was gonna get a camera doorbell and I did not get that. When the installation guy was leaving, I had asked about the doorbell cam and he said that it wasn't originally in the package. There was some miscommunication, but that doesn't mean that their system's not good. The guy was still extremely nice. He took his time and did the job right. ADT just needs to be more detailed on what the package is including and what security devices are going to be involved.

    The guy did go up and beyond. I really wanted a camera on my back door, but the way that my house was, it was going to be almost an impossible thing because he was saying that they can't plug the cameras outside because then it's easy for somebody to just pull the camera and unplug the hammer. He was really struggling on trying to get the camera up and it not be aesthetically ugly too. He battled with it for probably the entire time he was there, and then finally, he had came up with two solutions prior to that, and I was okay with them.

    At my first call, I was advised that the equipment installation would be free and that it would require a contract. But when the technician arrived, I was charged $538 for the equipment. Today, I looked on my phone and there was an advertisement for ADT. It said that equipment installation would be free of charge with initiating the contract. That was really false.

    On the very first day of the installation, everything went haywire. There are zones called rules that activate areas to have the recordings begin. There are three zones per camera. The next day, it was continually going off on my phone alerting that there was motion continually all day long. I called to find out what could be done. Technicians came yesterday and found that the area for rules of recording were overlapping and causing a lot of problems. For example, the first technician included the sidewalk and the street in the area of activation. Every time somebody walks their dog, it would go off. They adjusted it and it's a lot better now. The second technicians were very helpful and almost apologetic that I had to go through all that. On the whole, I was disappointed.

    ADT sucks. Somebody drove into my garage. I was gone. I was at 7-Eleven. My renters heard something, and they came down because you can't just go and look on a monitor. You gotta log on. My garage doors are hanging by a limb and the cameras could be accessed. Somebody owes me new garage doors and my cameras that would monitor my garage. I said in my very first phone call, I paid the $99 and that's what I wanted monitored. I also said that when we sat down and he had his full folder out what I wanted monitored. And I let him do that. I had to leave for a little while, but I had somebody here. The guy should get fired. The protection that I needed done, never got done. They're responsible for this. What pisses me off the most what I asked for specifically was my garage be monitored, and the tech didn't do it.

    I have three cameras. The middle camera doesn't have any talkback. The tech said that it would be able to monitor who comes in the house, anyone who would go up and down the stairs. Also, I can reach every camera there is, and I'm only five foot three. Nobody should be able to reach a camera like that. The guy did a poor job. It's because he thought he would not make a bunch of money off of me.

    I live in a pocket houses in Northwest Portland, where every other person has ADT. I wanted the doorbell thing because they were having a special. But when the guy got here, there was no special, is what happens two days after I go ahead and I get some cameras, which I could have just done at the store and had one of my buddies put the cameras up. My own system would have cost me about the same amount of money if not a bit less. Because monitoring from my phone and all that is slow. I log on and then I don't know if somebody is coming. The sensor that he put in my kitchen never worked. I don't even know why I have a sensor in the kitchen. And then, let's say everybody has it, then anybody who is sitting and listening to me talk and tell somebody what is the log on or that person that rents for me logs on to look at the cameras, if they want to look at it, there's no separation of my control or privacy.

    The alarm system is good. I've been meaning to call in a couple of days about the back camera not working, but besides that, that's it. Also, the representative was communicating but he didn't tell me anything about these payments I would make. I paid $100-some for ADT to come out, and then I paid an additional $300-some once they got here. And then, they took $80 out of my account, saying it was for the first month's bill. So altogether, I spent almost $600 on the security system, but it wasn't told it would happen like that. And they just took the money out of my account without me knowing. I was gonna cancel the whole thing, but my fiancée wanted it. The only reason I kept this is because we're in a new home in an area I don't trust yet. But they gotta communicate all this extra, let people know where this is going to happen, that is going to happen, etc. I would never recommend anybody if they are going to operate like this.

They couldn’t go back and pull the phone conversation because apparently, they couldn't retrieve it, even though it was recorded. Other than that, the customer service lady I talked to did awesome. She did everything she could possibly do. I also ended up getting all the features that I wanted, but I don't like some of the features of the system.     The ADT reps were very determined to tell me how much it was gonna cost for them to come out here. They wanted that money upfront. They said it would depend upon when the salesman comes out here. They were so fast that all they wanted you to realize when this is gonna be a three-year contract, they were a little pushy. They were vague in some parts and very outspoken in what they want to get across. They didn't like to ask questions. The technician that came out was very good. He demonstrated the remote. He did all the downloading on my phone, so I didn't have to sit here and mess with that.     Everything was good during the installation of my system. The only think I didn't like was when the young man came to put the system in, he told me he needed $120. I did not know that my first payment would be coming up the very next day for the system. I had dialysis, so I was just too tired to go through and read it but the rep explained it quite a bit to me. When I got my bill, I was overdrafted because ADT pulled out the $57. They should make sure that they let me know when they want their payment to come out. I asked them to set me up for my next payment to come out on the 1st and no later than the 5th, of every month. Other than that, I'm pretty comfortable with my system.

    We used ADT before. We got it again and the installation was smooth. It went pretty quick. The representative is good. The system that's installed covers pretty much most of what we need. The only thing we don't like is the camera. It's not very high resolution. They could make their camera quality improve a little bit, especially on the night vision. That's terrible. We use some other camera. It's much better than ADT. But the quality of the system, in general, is okay.

    ADT was very quick at setting up an appointment and charging my card for installation. They changed the appointment on me at one point, which was fine. Then the person that came gave a very different cost than what at least I thought that I received when I got the promotion from where I found them on. So, I had to negotiate on that and work with them. The charges were monthly $10 more than what the other company competitors were giving for the same type of services. Even that, I agreed with.

    He did the installation except for the cameras because I didn't have Wi-Fi yet. I told him that the Wi-Fi people would be coming on Monday, and that was Thursday. He said he'd come back on that day to finish the camera installation once I have the internet and that I should text him on the cell phone he left with me about the timing. After whatever he did, there was a call from ADT asking me if the installation went fine according to what I expected. Even though he hadn't finished because of the camera, he told me to tell the lady that the installation was completed, because he planned to come on Monday. I agreed, so he basically had me lie, which I trusted him. He then left.

    Once I had the confirmation from internet company, I texted him on Saturday or Sunday about the timing and that he could come after that. He texted me back saying he already has some other installation booked up and they don't do follow-up installation until after 2:00 PM. I told him that time would be fine. Then he said he has other things lined up.

    I texted him on Tuesday asking if he could install that day and he said he has two other installations already scheduled. At that point, I told him that he was supposed to finish an installation before taking up new projects. That was what he signed up for. He didn't come on Monday and he still couldn't come on Tuesday, so I asked the number of his supervisor because I would complain. He told me that it's unlawful to give his supervisor's contact. I told him that there is nothing unlawful about that because they are in a business. He responded back saying his supervisor was the one telling him to tell me to call the ADT schedule line to schedule the follow-up installation. He never gave me the contact of the supervisor. I had to call ADT.

    Now, according to what the ADT rep sees in the system, the person who came on Thursday marked the installation as complete. So, if someone else has to come and install the cameras, I will be charged separately for that. I said that is not right because that's not what I was told. I have it written that the guy will come back and do that. He transferred me to some other people who then said that they will go ahead and schedule but it only showed three cameras versus four. They have to send the same person to see if they will honor that and the earliest installation available by then is Friday. I had no choice, so I agreed to that.

    Come Friday, finally, the same guy came and installed four cameras. It was not really the location that I would have wanted. He installed it where it was easy and convenient to install and by then, I was done with having to do anything with him, so I just said to do whatever he needed to and just go. After that, I don't wanna call them or deal with them ever again. I have never had a national company like ADT, with that reputation, and then having this kind of people as their authorized dealer. The ADT themselves also are not even doing anything. It is the most painful experience I've ever had trying to get security installed for my home.

They're too sensitive and they set the alarm off. When my kids would do any cooking or close the doors or the microwave, the system would say glass break, but there was no glass break.     My mom has ADT. Everything was fine. The only complaint I have is ADT has online a price of $99 and when we talked to a person on the phone, they acted like that was all we would pay. And then whenever they got there, my installer hit me with a huge number like, "Oh, this is actually how much you gotta pay today." It was over $1,000. Apparently, the price doesn't have everything. It only gives you a certain amount of window sensors, and if you were to cover every window, the sensors are $160-some a piece. That was the only thing I had to pay extra for.     I had an ADT system previously and I just called them to get it reconnected and upgraded. A manager came out and did the installation. He explained it really well. He took his time and went over it two or three times to make sure that we understood how to set the alarm, and even if we wanted to put in a secondary code on the panel itself, he showed us how to do that as well. The only downside of it is we are still waiting for the key fobs, the keychain, to come in the mail. They come with the system. He was out of them at the moment. But other than that, the service was tremendous. We've been using the app on our phone to arm and unarm the system.

    We've been using ADT for 20 years. The first experience we had with them was really great at the residence. Then, the second experience on the commercial property was just okay, because the technicians were too busy talking about sports and doing the install. I had to ask them if they could move it along and keep their conversation, but going with the install rather than talking about sports. The same techs who came in and installed the system at the business were supposed to bring back a stand for the interface the following day, which was last Saturday. But they never came back.

    ADT is a widely known name and I got it as it seemed simpler. When I talked to a sales rep over the phone, there was not enough information. He gave me a price range but didn't explain what the difference in pricing was. He brought his supervisor on the line to explain it better but it turned out to be more of an upsell. That was frustrating. I eventually stopped asking questions and decided to wait for the technician appointment. The technician was a lot more generally informative than the one over the phone. The installation was fine.

    The range of the remote isn't long enough. It works but the range is only 100 feet. The idea was if you're pulling into the garage, you should be able to click the remote and it would disarm the panel. But it doesn't work that way because my garage is too far from the panel. I have to be standing pretty close to the panel. But it's not a big deal. As long as I can arm and disarm from the panel, it's fine.

    I was shopping around for a better system than what I had and I ended up getting ADT. Their reps were very helpful and very friendly. They did everything they could in order to make it worth my while to come over to ADT. The installer was also very friendly and well-informed. When he didn't know something, he'd get on the phone, ask the question, and get an answer for me. He was very polite and well-mannered, too. We’re now getting back to getting my son on the app. Part of the problem is we're both home all the time, at various points in time, and he's responsible for turning it on at night. Right now, I’m finally getting him comfortable to turn it on and he just finally turned it on last night.

    So far, the quality of the system seems to be pretty good and it's a little more complex than my old system that I had. The only thing that I regret was I didn't understand when they were talking about the emergency lighting and what that had entailed. If I knew I was going to be paying for two remote boxes that I'm never going to use, I would have told the installer to take them off and take them with him, which would have probably lowered my monthly fee. Instead, they're plugged into outlets and I’m trying to figure out if will I ever use them. I only needed one of three. But I'd still recommend ADT to others, with a reminder of understanding more what you're buying in the end.

    We just moved into this house and they had ADT. It had motion detectors, just some of the stuff was obsolete and so we decided to just continue on with them. Everything went smoothly as possible. The installation tech was very easy to talk to, had a nice personality, and did a great job. He told me I could tie in my Nest heating control and that's compatible. But I'll just call back for that. I like the video because if anything ever happens with my car in the driveway, it records it. It's a beautiful thing. Then if anybody's at the door, and we're not home, we can talk. They also have the vibration or glass, which detects glass breaking, and if the magnets broke if someone opened the door. That's cool too and I like those.

    My daughter got basement windows up and she was worried that somebody could just creep on it. But she is very relaxed now. When she's home alone or she's home alone sleeping, it gave her comfort. She got ADT and we got a big 75-pound excellent guard dog that would scare somebody away. They're a good name, been around a long time, and we are very pleased with it.     The representatives at ADT were very knowledgeable of the system and informed me of the packages that I would get. I paid the $99 upfront fee and it was all I had to pay. However, when the guy came to install the camera, I had to pay $299. That was not explained to me previously. I asked him if it was something that could be billed for and he said no. I called and talked to a manager and she apologized. I told her that they need to let the people know upfront that there would be an additional charge. With things going on today, I didn't have $300 at the drop of a hat. If I had known it then, I would have delayed getting it installed. I had to come up just to get the camera installed.

    Then there were some of the things that the guy on the phone told me I would get for free. The installer said that those were not part of the package. I just told him to go ahead and install as I was already running behind schedule. He did a very good job and gave me some things for free and I appreciated that. Now, I've been having problems with the camera in the house. It's saying, it's not showing. I unplugged it, waited a few minutes, and then plugged it back in. But there are still problems with it. I'm gonna call and try to figure out what's going on with it and also ask about the things that the marketing guy said that I should have gotten for free.

    ADT is the worst company and I hate I even got them. When I signed up for it, I was told to pay 199. When the technician got there, I had to pay $318. I think I got scammed ‘cause all I have is a chime that lets me know when those doors are open. That’s all the system does. Camera doesn't show like I want. I can’t just go on my camera any time of the day and watch. I have an outdoor camera, but it doesn't even record. I can't rewind and watch the recording. It just gives me a little update once a day of the recording. They have the worst system and I do not like it. It's not worth what they charged me. It’s nothing like the security system my son has. He's not with ADT, though.

    I was familiar with the ADT brand, so I went with them. The installation was good but afterwards, I was really disappointed with the pricing and the person discussing the promotions with me. I asked the installer what specials they had going on then a couple of days later, I looked in the mail and I realized that I had a flyer for ADT and I could have gotten a whole bunch of different discounts that I wasn't offered. If you're thinking of getting ADT, research the price first because they will rip you off and the people who come and install will not tell you about the correct promotions going on. Compared to what was available and what I saw on the other promotions for the stuff I paid for, I paid almost an extra $800. It's crazy and now, I can't change it because it's under contract.     What the sales rep told me was something totally different from when the technician arrived, so that was a little misleading. He didn't mention that I can get up to 850 in free equipment. I told him what I needed and he made it seem what I needed would be the 850 and free equipment. I'm all right with the features of the package that I got. But as far as the panel info that ADT installed, it’s a little bit confusing sometimes. So I mainly have to arm or disarm the system on my phone because sometimes in the system, it would say disarm, but it doesn’t say if it’s armed or not.

    ADT was something I wanted to proceed with for some time in my home and I got a flyer in the mail. The rep was great. He answered all my questions and got me all the help I needed. The system is doing its job but it was not a good experience with the tech that was in my house. He was in my house for seven hours and broke my door jamb. He was kind of not comprehensive on his job or his skills. I've even called ADT and complained on it. They had to send someone out yesterday to correct a few things. Also, when I called the next morning, I was on hold or I got pushed around to several representatives. I was on the phone for two hours before I got to the right person and I still don't have my refund. That happened last Friday and the banks were closed on Monday. In all technicality, it's been four business days.

    I wanted ADT. When I had called PECO to switch over my electric to my new house, they transferred me to a moving service. They said it was supposed to be a centralized system to help you find movers. They could access Wi-Fi. It seemed like a know-it-all center. Somehow after that, they transferred me to Protect Your Home. I didn’t even realize I was talking to them then I got it set up. It was pretty easy.

    I was really committed to getting a system. The reps were okay but I was pretty disappointed at the clarity of everything. They kept making it this huge deal where I would be getting $1,300 in equipment. The prices online were not fairly represented and the sales rep didn't represent the cost on installment day. He said, “We're gonna charge your card $100 right now. And if you like it, that's it. If you don't like it, you can send the guy away. We’ll leave as friends. We'll refund your card $100.” He didn't mention that it was gonna be another $3,000 to install the equipment. There were a lot of pre-work that the sales rep should have done. There should have been some prices provided beforehand.

    When our installer came out, he tried giving us $4,000 worth of equipment. $1,300 credit really isn't worth much when it's $4,000. We still got to pull $3,000 out of pocket. It wasn't communicated that there was gonna be such an upfront fee especially when they made such a big deal out of having so much money off. We were very surprised. It was funny too. I had already been looking at the sensors because I was curious about what they look like. I did my research. The prices were not disclosed. XFINITY would say, “It’d be $600.” Ring’s security system said, “The upfront cost is $200.” ADT just said, “Zero upfront costs.” So hearing it was going to be $4,000, I was like “Yo, hold on a minute.” But ADT was very transparent about being in a contract for 36 months, which I was fine with.

    There were also a lot of things in there that we didn’t need. I didn't need fire or three more carbon monoxide and smoke detectors because I already had those in the house. I didn’t need all the indoor cameras. We cut some of the things out. I do not need a front and back door sign. The system itself is loud enough. In the end, the price eventually came down.

    This situation was 1,000% the sales rep’s fault for not clearly communicating and also ADT’s fault for not actually putting on the website what the actual cost of the items were going to be. What I went with cost me $600 to $1,700 even after that so-called $1300 equipment cost. We pulled $17,000 out of our savings account for settlement day two weeks ago. $1,700 is kind of a lot of money. Other people would have been more pissed off for the company not being upfront. Some people who maybe didn't have the resources would have definitely sent some away, not having known the upfront cost of the system. The company seriously needs to be transparent with upfront costs.

    We're also having a problem with the cameras for whatever reason. The installer had been back three times and was not able to get them hooked up. I was a little surprised. There are also some feedback to the operations team. I'm an operations manager for hotels. I understand problems happen. But if they have an appointment, they need to be very transparent about that. They said it was between 2:00 and 4:00. The sales rep did not tell me that it was going to take eight hours to install. My appointment was between 2:00 and 4:00 PM.

    The installer did not show up until 4:30 and he left a little after 11:00. We weren't even moving into the house yet. There was no Wi-Fi and there was no bed. I was not sleeping there. I had work the next day at 6:00 AM. It was 11 PM and the installer hadn't even activated the outdoor cameras. That was crazy. He was going to install another indoor camera. But I said, “Eighty-six the indoor camera. I actually don't want it after all. Come back and hook up the outdoor cameras when we get Wi-Fi.” I'm overall satisfied with the equipment. It's good and our installer was awesome. I'm still very happy with the end goal but it was was the most transparent experience. And I was exhausted. It was a long day.

    Updated on 02/21/2021: I could not publicly respond to ADT, there's no reply feature here so I figured I'd create a follow-up thread as this is probably important for any millennial looking at this service. Price and equipment paid for just isn't worth the monthly ticket anymore. Unless ADT makes some changes, I see others overtaking its market share in the coming years.

    Context: My home was broken into and no facial features could be used by the cops because the camera resolutions are so low. Now a criminal is walking free because they want to use the outdated camera at premium prices. After trying to cancel due to the terrible resolution and quality of the cameras, I was hit with a "$1,400" cancel fee. I've only had the service since the end of Dec and was counting on the 6-month money-back guarantee.

    ADT did come out to add another low-resolution camera outdoors that's just as bad as the doorbell camera resolution. Even the install tech had to laugh. I can't even see the license plate of a car parked in my own driveway. I really wish I was making this up. I've had 3 technicians come out and none of them use ADT themselves. For a company that's been in service for 100+ years, they're having a hard time keeping up. As a full-time Technology Consultant for a Fortune 100 firm, I see companies like this bank on consumer loyalty rather than investing in giving customers a better user experience.

    Save yourself time, money, and heartache...I don't feel safe in my own home while paying $69.00 monthly. Don't let this be your story. It's unfortunate that this company is willing to risk my life, instead of doing the right thing. I'm seeking legal advice next week. I will update here. To Prove my point I included photos. I placed a Lowe's bucket in my driveway and you can't even make out the huge Lowe's font lol.

    Original Review: I purchased ADT based on reading some reviews and blogs that compared it to Vivint. I thought based on the time in business and etc, I was making the right choice. Boy was I wrong. I figured I'd be covered by the 6-month money-back guarantee but that was also a lie. They only refund you fully after 3 DAYS. So now it's $1,400 for me to cancel. The money-back-guarantee is only possible if they can't fix a technical issue, not if you're not happy with the service like they lead you to believe. The camera only has 2-way audio, no beeping or small things to deter criminals from approaching your door, to begin with. The doorbell camera is very low resolution, hence them throwing in a different outdoor camera for me. I only gave it 2 stars because they are adding in an extra outdoor camera. No matter what, I'll be moving on from ADT once I can comfortably pay to cancel the service.

    The offer is good, but I also know that ADT is better than the other companies. The installation went good, although the installer put the wrong battery that was supposed to be used with this kind of the system I have in here. It worked when we tested everything. He left while it was working. And then it started telling me, "Low battery, low battery, low battery." The next thing, everything shut off. I called ADT and they said they would send somebody the following day.

    When the guy came, I explained what happened, what messages I got. Then he just looked at it and said, "For my experience, I think he put the wrong thing. You are lucky that I have a spare one in my car. I'll just switch those, that's it." So he switched, and everything went back to normal. I'm very comfortable. I secure everything.     Felicia said, "Okay, we're going to put in your package, you're going to have three smoke detectors, three carbon monoxide on each level." However, the installer said, "Oh, no. In your package, you didn't have this." Felicia didn't say that when I decided to go with ADT. She also gave me a badge ID but she never gave me a direct line where I can reach her. When I tried to get in touch with her, it was impossible for me. The rep said, "Oh, she's a sales manager. There's no way for you to get in touch with her." I'm like, "Okay, so that means that was just a kind of thing to get me in and then leave me by myself."

    The talk sold me, but the equipment didn't do what the talk said, so we had to get rid of it. I wanted three cameras installed, and the installer came out and said that he put two cameras on there because it was my internet. We tested it, it was 0.89, and we needed at least one such and such per camera. I told him if the cameras ain't gonna work, I don't need it. He said to try it for three days. He put holes and didn't caulk them. I've told him that when it rains, I'm worried about the internet if that's what it's going through. He said that's the only option we got. We had rain and it got cut off. There was no communication with the camera. Then the battery was supposed to last three days without power. We lost power during that blizzard and the battery didn't even hold up to 24 hours.

    We had it uninstalled yesterday. The guy that removed all the equipment said that the first guy should have caulked the holes. Well, guess what, he also didn't caulk them when he left. Then, I got a two-inch hole in my panel that's in my kitchen where they had the monitor. I really got screwed out of this deal. My wife's gonna be calling and talking to somebody with ADT and see what they could do to fix it 'cause we didn't want to install it in the first place and they talked us in. I gotta find a different security system.

    The rep that I talked to was a good salesman. But it was little confusing at times. I didn't quite understand the different packages. He was using terminology that they would know but not the average client. He also did the installation and my daughter was here when he did it. He told her the basics, like how to turn the system on and off. He was professional and fast. But I would suggest a follow-up call from ADT themselves or whoever is responsible for monitoring. No one has even contacted me about testing the system at this point. So a follow-up call would be a really good idea, especially for people that have never had systems before.

    We've only had the ADT system for a couple of days, and we’re adjusting and see what it's going to be like. It’s vastly different than what we've had before. Some of the things, we are still experimenting with them to see. And one of them is we have questions and the technician will be out in, hopefully, another time to go through it. We ran into some things that we didn't expect.

    In talking to the person on the phone about the system, I was told that someone would come out and tell me specifically what happened. But a person showed up in my house with things to install the system in my house. He was assuming that the system was sold to us already. We were assuming that the person was coming to tell us about the system. You don't show up at someone's house with your equipment to install in their house. That needs to be perfectly clear upfront with the person before you have met. Fortunately, we were able to talk and we decided to install the system. If it had not been for the technician, we would have told him to leave. But he was a good person and he did a good job.

    Upon installing the system, the camera that we have on the garage and the volume for the sound for it, we can barely hear it when we do that. Then the additional thing that we found that since we wanted two cameras, it would cause our internet to go up. So I’m now waiting for the phone company to bring me a new router and increase my upload speed tremendously. Then when we turn the panel that's in the kitchen on, we don't quite understand what the red light and green lights are. We haven't been able to find an answer in the literature we've gone through. So I assume it takes us a few days to determine whether or not this system is going to be something that will wow us.

    The initial contact needs to be seamless. You need to really say that this is what you're getting here and not have those questions later. ADT should also evaluate people that are buying cameras. They should evaluate the internet experience and say that upfront before you get to the point where you put it down on paper. It's a considerable expense to update the internet you’re having. When we had it, it was going to end up adding about $30 to my internet cost per month. By the time I put that into the formula, the 60 I'd be paying for the security system and add another 32 would far exceed what I was paying before.

    One of the things that need to be included in the presentations especially if people start to talk about cameras and they have internet service. My service has an upload one and a download one. The upload on my service is 4.7, where you should buy a camera that's going to require two-point something of upload capacity even to operate. But we were gonna buy two cameras and to do that, it would take all the capacity for my internet. With what I do at home with my internet, I can't have it down because of cameras. So I called the telephone company to find out what it would cost and their rep started to quote numbers to me and I was blown away. But the person put most of the system in the house already when I found out that it was going to be an additional cost. So I was not gonna have him take the equipment out and leave. But it was not something that made me feel really good about it. I come close to feel like I have been taken advantage of there.

    I had ADT before, and I was trying to see about getting cameras to my house. The sales agent was pretty good. He’s understanding and explained everything. The installation was pretty good. The person made sure everything was working before he left, which they kinda took some time because one of the cameras was not working. But he made sure that the cameras were working, and everything was working before he left, so that's good. So far, the system seems to be good. Every once in a while, with the cameras, I felt like sometimes they may lose connection. So, I have to reset them. I'm worried about the cameras going in and out. But other than that, my home is definitely more secure than it was before. Knowing when the door is open and all that is better than what we had before.

    When I moved into this house two years ago, they had ADT, so I took it over. But I needed to add some cameras to my system. So I bought a whole new system, upgraded everything, and got my cameras, and signed another contract with them for three years. I like ADT. They're a good company and they give me good service. I was happy with their system. It’s very easy to use. My wife knows how to use it and it’s very good and the new system is even better.

    When I first initiated the call with ADT to have a couple of cameras ordered and put on my account, they said that they didn't sell the merchandise. So I asked who did and they said that it was my security company. They said that they were just doing the monitoring and my security company was another company. They gave me the name of the company and I called them. But they said that they sold the contract with ADT two years ago. So I was back to square one again with ADT.

    When I initiated the second call with ADT, I told them that all I wanted was to add some cameras on here. I got quoted three different prices from three different people with three different programs, and none of which I was interested in because they were five and six-year contracts. That was just ludicrous. I felt like I got shuffled around. Some of the times, I got hung up on. I'd call back and get hung up on again. That was bad customer service as far as I was concerned. ADT really needs to be persistent in the fact that they know who they're talking to and what kind of deal are they getting thrown at them. I just gave up on ADT.

    I was pretty much sold on this other company and I had already lined up an installation date with them. But again, they had a five-year contract. So, I went back to ADT and told them that I wanted to stay with them but told them what my problem was. So the young lady I talked to gave me the best deal possible. She was very nice and set me up with everything. We went through the whole program, told me exactly what it was, how many years I was on the hook for, and everything was nice and done with.

    We lined up the installation and then the guy came out, did an excellent job of putting everything in. But there's one camera that is not in the right angle. I can see people coming up to my door and their backs, but I can't see who it is. So, we have to move that and they're coming out on the 11th of March, which I can't understand why it's being so long in between there that we're gonna have to have that done. But I'm willing to wait if I have to. I would have liked to get it done sooner, but I don't know if that's possible.

    The installer, Brian, didn't come till 4:30 and it was dark after he left. It was a late in the day thing and for somebody trying to tell me how the system works and everything at 6 o'clock in the evening, it wasn't too good a time for me. We rescheduled it. I would have wanted to have it more in the morning. That aside, Brian was a fine man and he was respectful. But I just don't have what I want. I only have the front and the back doors secured.

    I really wanted the porch secured. I've been having somebody come in on the porch and I do have things on the porch that are valuable. I have furniture out there and a lot of my plants. Before Brian left that, he had a big bag of trash. He asked me where the trash bin was and I told him it was in the back door out the porch. You put the system on chime when you’re here and it’s not armed. The doors should make some noise like a voice like my sliding glass door. The one in the porch didn’t make any noise. I didn’t know enough about it. I’m 81 and I'm not tech savvy. Brian didn't explain everything so I told him he was gonna have to explain it. Everything was explained.

    Brian tested the sensors but he didn’t test them after they were on the door. He should have realized that the sensor at the porch wasn’t chiming and saying anything. He put them up on the doors but they’re not working because one is above the other. They’re not connecting. During that time, it was growing late and Brian said it was the first time he ever did three in one day. By the time he left, it was after 6:30 and dark. I called Brian yesterday. I should have called before that. My porch is not protected and I am concerned. The sensors up there are not working on both doors of my porch. I got Brian's answering machine and I have not received a callback. I hope to, in the near future, because this is very important.

    I want Brian to come out, go over this with me, and try to see this. There are only two doors that alarm. I was up to seven free on this deal that is good until March. It's a small job compared to what other people have. I really wanted a camera for the carport, too. Brian said I can't have one but he would look into it, which he hasn't. I don't have a computer but you can get it on a camera in the cell phone. My neighbor has one in the back. Brian is new and he just moved down here. I’d rather have somebody that's been around more. Brian didn't know what he’s doing. On the whole, I'm dissatisfied.

    ADT got in the door by telling me all kinds of stuff. I was okay with what they were telling me on the phone. But I wasn't happy with the way things went when they got to my house. The pricing and what was supposed to be included in the package that I got were different from what I was told. I told the guy that came out that the only reason why he was there was because of when I actually talked to the manager on the phone and all that good stuff.     I've had ADT for the last six years. I recently moved to a new house. ADT was the first system I ever used and I like the ease of it. I like the way the sensors work. Throughout three homes, I've had various sensors, shock sensors, window, door breaks, motion, the whole nine yards. I like the variety that they have. I tried calling ADT the day the guy was here installing. I'm retired military and on my USA website, it says I'm eligible for 10% off my monthly monitoring fees. The lady called me a liar on the phone while I was here with the guy installing it in my house. She was like, "That doesn't exist. We've never heard of that." I said, "Well, it's right here on the USA website, saying that I'm supposed to get 10% off monthly monitoring, being a USA member." Nobody could help me with that. Nobody has ever resolved that. So I'm still trying to get my 10% off my monthly monitoring fee.

    Other than that, the installer was really friendly, really put the effort in and did great work because where we were going to initially put the monitoring box, he wasn't able to get the cord to run down through the wall. We ended up having to move it, and he came up with three possible solutions of where else we could put it. He was wonderful.

    I did not have a good experience with ADT at all. I was very confused because I had clear instructions that I just wanted $2,000 worth of equipment. That's all that I wanted installed. Apparently, they installed some extra things that I was not made aware of, and I received an additional bill for equipment. I don't want that. We have someone coming out tomorrow to take away some of the stuff that was installed. Also, it was very hard to get someone to come get the stuff installed. When I would call the normal ADT number, I had to wait because somebody else does the installation. Defenders does the installation. I had to wait for ADT to transfer me there because they never knew about my appointment.

    I had this appointment scheduled right after it was installed, but the person never showed up. So at this point, I'm very dissatisfied. I had an appointment for them to come take stuff away and it was a four-hour window, and no one ever showed up. I called in and they had to send me to Defenders and that's who I'm supposed to be working with to get it uninstalled.

    Overall, it's a little confusing to me. If I call ADT, why is someone else doing the install? At least they should have the information of who it is. I shouldn't call ADT, and then someone at ADT know nothing about what I'm talking about. They're like, “Oh, no. We have somebody from Defenders that actually does installs and that's who your appointment’s with.” That's very confusing.

    I had ADT before and I was with them for a very long time. When my contract was over, they came out with a promotion for new customers, so I asked them if they could give me an offer for a new customer. They said no, so I let go of ADT and I was happy with it. Then, I decided I wanted them again. I saw some online offers and a different contractor showed up that wasn't ADT, but they were a contractor through ADT. In the end, I didn't get the promotion, so I was not all that happy about it.

    But other than that, everyone I dealt with was great. The installation was above normal, too. It took two hours to finish and the tech was very informational. He informed me about how the system worked and explained to me what was the difference with the merger that was going forth. He also told me why ADT was selling out and what I should do to help get the benefits that were promised.     Everybody from ADT was professional. They didn't lead me astray with anything or miscommunicated anything at all. They gave me a ballpark figure and told me what the minimum and the maximum were gonna be. Once the installer got in here, I was expecting him to upsell me on some of these things. But it wasn't like you're cutting a check for 100 bucks. It was in thousands of dollars. It's not the salesperson’s fault. He's just doing his job. But you can't really walk into somebody's house and they have a certain number in mind, and then you just blow that number out of the water.

    These types of companies can go into more detail with the extra cost of the equipment. Once the person gets in here, then they upsell and tell you that these extra equipment are gonna be 2000 something dollars and they need the payment that day. So now the fee is going to be $50 a month plus you need $2,000 in equipment. That gives you a little sticker shock and not really what has been expected. That's a little misleading.

    Everything is fine so far. I went with the base deal of what was discussed over the phone. Then I did the upgrade for the ADT application on my phone, which had an extra fee. Having this security system is a whole another level of security and I feel safer. My family feels safer even though my daughter has been freaked out about it at first.

There was a little bit of misunderstanding with the representative that I spoke with on the phone and the installer when he came out. There were some things that weren't explained to me when I first talked to the representative. As far as the monthly fees, I didn't understand that I had to have a hardwire phone to qualify for the price that I was quoted.     ADT's installer was great. She introduced herself. She was polite and courteous. But when I talked to the person on the phone, I requested two key fobs. I told the installer I requested two key fobs but she said she didn't know about that. And I told her all these things I had to have for my doors and windows. And it said I got eight with the package I got. But I needed more than eight because some of my windows are double hung windows so we have to compensate for that. But I said, "Okay, we'll have to make compensations for that in advance." But other than that, she tried everything she could. Everything else that she did was nice. She showed me how to work everything. I didn't mind about the camera but I wanted the two key fobs. And then when we got to doing everything, she almost forgot to give me the one. She wore her mask, and I put hand sanitizers on the table for people to use when they come in and she used it. She cleaned up after herself.

    ADT seems to be more reputable. I see some more vehicles for them in the area, just in case I had any kind of issues or problem with the system, I would assume that they would get to me to fix whatever may have been going on. When I spoke with the sales team, they answered all my questions. It was pleasant. The installer was personable and polite. He was good. He gave me a brief overview of everything. He made sure I had the manuals, so if I had any issues or problems or any kind of questions with it, I can look in there. Or if I needed to, I could always call him. The system is a lot better than what I had before. I don't have to worry about cameras going offline and not having anybody to be able to check them for me.

    The customer service of our security service was terrible from the get-go. After a while, we decided to upgrade and we switched to ADT based on the best reviews and knowing that my family members had ADT in the past. The initial phone call with ADT was great. I dealt with the manager that was in Louisiana. That person answered all the questions I had.

    The gentleman who came out was great too even though he was delayed on every instance that he came out to my house. He was to come out on Saturday between 2:00 and 4:00 but he didn't get there until 6:00. When he came back to install, he was supposed to be there between 11:00 and 3:00 but got there at 3:30. He had to come back two days later to finish the work. the gentleman was super communicative. Once he got my phone number after the first initial visit, he let me know if he was gonna be late or not. One of the problems on the day of the install was the manager said he had to meet him for something so he was gonna be delayed by an hour or so. It was due to certain things outside of his control that he was delayed. And having a manager tell him to meet him as opposed to taking care of the customer was a little frustrating.

    On the whole, the system seems great. There's a little screen in the wall and we have the little miniature-like iPad screens. I've been told that with the update coming up in the next couple of weeks, we are going to be able to view the cameras from that in addition to our cellphones and online. That'll be nice enough and that’s there.

    My ADT system is a waste of money right now. When the installer came, he just hooked it up and didn't really explain anything. He put things in the doors but the sticky stuff didn’t stick well. Two of those things already fell off, one of which I don't know where it went. There was a tiny piece. The installer also put something on the wall. He hooked the cameras and all he had to do was plug them in. I really don't know how to work the box. When we go to bed at night, I don't know how I'm supposed to set the alarm on it. It says, “I’m staying.” And it tells you to leave. I just let it be unset.

    Another thing was when I ordered the security system, the lady was nice and told me it was $200. I paid that upfront. But when the installer got here, I had to pay another 300 something dollars. I didn't know that we had to do that because the lady didn't explain it when we ordered the system. Within two weeks they already charged me $59 more for the monitoring. That's almost $600 within two weeks.

    Someone told me on Facebook that the veterans could get free equipment from ADT. So, I called to find out. The rep I dealt with was good. He explained pretty much everything but I was shocked that I still had to pay $1,400. I thought everything was free and I just had to pay the thing. But I found out later that that was for the installation fees and for two hours of installation, $1,400 was a lot. They need to be more upfront about installation costs. Other than that, the installer was cool and everything's up and running now. I'm satisfied with the features that came with the package that I got. They're cool and I'm still learning about them, but for the general stuff is good. Hopefully, the system won't be not needed. But it's there in case it is.

    I liked ADT's value and the price. The rep was with us for a while and took care of us. He did a good job. I feel sorry for the installer because my daughter was acting up that day. But he was a champ. I like that I can let my daughters have access to certain periods and lock them out from being able to use the keypad at night.     ADT's advertising was not truthful in what services I was going to get. The flyer said I was going to get all this stuff plus a Ring doorbell for the low price of 27.99. But that did not happen. A guy came to my house and kept trying to upsell me on everything when all I wanted was the basic services. I had my problem right there. That aside, the system has been good so far with the exception of one of my sensors that I'm having trouble with right now. I called customer service and the rep tried to help me clear it, but we couldn't so they're sending out a technician tomorrow.

    I was sold to ADT because of its lack of need for Wi-Fi as the interface. To me, it's still not a very secure system going over the internet. A gentleman came and he was extremely professional. He explained everything and he worked with us. When we hit a little bit of a snare, he got it squared away. He got his supervisor or manager on the phone to alleviate some of the confusion.

    When I initially called ADT to get a quote of what the cost would be, I discussed what I was looking for exactly, which windows I needed, and which doors I needed. I also mentioned the need for smoke alarms. At the end of the conversation, I was told the price that I was gonna pay per month and what we would get. But when I got on the phone, the rep said, "Usually, the smoke alarms aren't part of the package but let me see what I can do for you." He got his manager on the phone then they told me, "We wanna make sure that we hook you up, so we'll make sure we get those smoke alarms for you installed as well."

    I told the guy that came out to install that I was not looking for handouts nor was I expecting free equipment. There was no need for the manager to get on the phone and be like, "We're hooking you up for when the guy came to install everything." It turns out I'm paying for it anyway because then I was completely oblivious to what it was gonna cost me. The guy did the install. Prior to that, he had just installed the actual panel itself before he got into everything with the doors and the windows and smoke alarms. He said it was gonna be $1,800 that I can do in four easy payments. I was like, "What do you mean?" I had to pay four payments of 450. It just hit me like, "Where did these fees come from?"

    If I had any complaint, it was with regard to the initial conversation I had with ADT reps as far as what kind of package I was getting with what I was paying monthly and to what I actually got on the install. In the end, it wasn't something that completely deterred me from ADT although I was a little upset and disheartened. I felt misled. But we still went through with all the windows and door protection. As for the smoke alarms, I bought my own. I'm still happy to have my home protected. But there should be better communication from the representative about what you're actually getting. Other than that, I'd still recommend ADT to other people.

    Updated on 02/20/2021: After a war with ADT and SafeHaven security systems that lasted over a month and three complaints I wrote to the BBB about them, I opened an account with ConsumerAffairs in order to complain to them about ADT. ADT has continued - since early January, when I made them come back and uninstall their equipment - to harass me with more offers to install their system in my home. Even after the letter to ConsumerAffairs from ADT acknowledging that they got it that I had cancelled their account with me - which they had installed under the false claim that I had signed up for their service in the packet of 45 pages of closing document I signed for my home on 28 December - I still received an over-due bill. When I called their number the person who argued with me - Dreshawn **, by name - claimed he had no knowledge of a cancellation but he could help me to pay the bill - event though their equipment was removed.

    Even with the emails from Karen ** of SafeHaven attesting that she had connected with the ADT offices to "help me" with my mission to effect this cancellation - I still received more advertisements by mail and by email from ADT soliciting my business. They had my contact information, address and phone number but did not have the knowledge that I had already cancelled with ADT. Today a person named Brandon texted me and called me, from two different phone numbers, and claimed I was recommended to him by my realtor.

    This is FRAUD. These people are deliberately lying and pressuring me. They have no means of even knowing that I had moved to my new house and certainly did not have any legal way of learning that I had signed the closing documents on 28 December - not without breaching some private, secure source of information. They know all about me but they profess to not know that they have cancelled this service and removed their equipment.

    Original: I cannot understand how there are so many positive reviews for this company of crooks and hustlers. I received a second over-due notice today from ADT - for a contact that I cancelled last month. So in conclusion - though I do not know how effective their security system is compared with other companies - although I know there are others who provide security systems that seem to be comparable for a cheaper price - I do know that the people I have worked with at ADT and the local SafeHaven affiliate are dishonest, hustlers and the cancellation people are are worse than 100% useless. To start with the ADT agents came to my door a few days after I had moved in to my new home and told me I had signed up for their system when I signed 45 pages of closing documents - without reading them - on 28 December, 2020. This was a lie.

    Since I did not yet have my copy of the closing packet I had no way of knowing they were hustling me. They had my name and address and knew about the date of my closing. I agreed to let the technician make the installation and resisted all their attempts to upgrade the system from the basic 46 dollars a month and I paid the 79 dollars for the installation and signed their contract on the technician's hand-computer. This was entirely a scam!. I learned from my real estate broker that they had not told ADT about my home purchase and there was no contract for ADT to do any installation in the packet of closing documents.

    I called their local agent and argued and eventually got them to agree to come back and uninstal their equipment and I signed on the same computer to acknowledge the removal of their stuff and the reason for it. And I notified my bank to refund that payment I had made. And I called many different numbers that I had been given to make it official that service was cancelled and each of these calls ended with some dead end - after a wait of 10 to 45 minutes on hold and in transfers, listening to idiotic propaganda about their various systems - each time that I got to a person or to a dropped call the person I talked with had no idea at all about cancellation.... and I was given a different number. This craziness went on and on.

    On the computer the experience was the same. It was humiliating to be treated like a fool - create an account login and then get to another department that wanted to sell me another upgrade to my system but no possible way to elicit the cancellation clause in the contract. ADT claims you can cancel within three days with no problem. I had made them remove their equipment within 3 days and cancelled the online payment I had made and told several people on the phone that their service was no longer wanted and why - that I do not willingly do business with dishonest people. And still they sent me more emails offering to upgrade my coverage, give reasons for the wish to cancel and and then a new number to call or the statement that this cancellation could only be done by phone... by phone they told me the cancellation had to be done online.. Online they offered me several options.

    First I told them to go to hell. I was done playing their games. It was maddening. But eventually I bought a printer and I printed out their forms and filled in all the info - this was ridiculous. ADT knew already and SafeHaven knew that I did not want their system and they had removed their stuff and had refunded my payment of 79 dollars - and I caved into their insane demands and mailed in their form and got it done with. Now they are continuing to send me bills. I have sent more emails and made some complaints to the BBB and ADT's response to the BBB was the same idiotic disregard for what was being asked. Today in February they sent me another bill and I called the number on that bill and the **&* person who answered told me the same craziness. He gave me a new number to call and I was long past this point. If you want to do business with these people it is up to you.

    I thought ADT was a lot better, but I'm having a lot of issues with it. I've called seven times about my cameras not working. They were great as far as the installation. It was after when the installer left is when I started having issues. The next day, I tried to log into my cameras, and I couldn't log in. What was weird, when I got home, I could log in to my cameras and see just fine. But if I'm away from home, I can't see them. Now, it's saying that my doorbell camera needs to be recharged. I just had it installed less than a week ago.

    I'm getting a runaround. ADT wants to meet me in the middle of the day, but it's hard for me to do that right now. I've met them three different times during the day to try to get this resolved, and I kept having to take off work for it. My wife can't take off work. She's an hour away from home. So, I told them today that, “Look, I can't take off work anymore. You'll have to meet me at 5:00 or after 5:00.” And the rep scheduled an appointment next month sometime, but I can't do that. What is the point in having it if it ain't gonna work right? I'm within my 30 days. I'm to the point now where I'm about to tell them, “Hey, come and get it and refund me my money.” It's ridiculous. I wouldn't recommend the system to anybody, especially for the amount of money that we have already spent with them. We spent over $400 with them, and they billed me two days after I got the installation for the service. It's very frustrating. That's the reason why you go with a reputable company.

    I called ADT and the sales guy gave me a price. He told me I’d pay $100, and then the installation guy will come and activate. He said that I needed Wi-Fi for cameras, and power for the alarm. It would be 20 some dollars for regular alarm, and 50 some dollars for the cameras. I asked him if it would be unlimited cameras and he said, “Yes.” But when the installation guy came and I told him to put cameras here and there, he said, “No, I have to charge you $300 for each camera.” But they didn't tell me that. I was not too happy about it.

    I noticed the next day when I checked in my phone on Facebook, they were offering $99 just to go home, and they were gonna put two cameras, and a camera for the Ring bell. It was a better deal. I called the guy and said, “I got this yesterday. What's the difference?” He told me ADT was outside company. The guy also told me, “Later on, if you want to upgrade, call us. Call us direct to us. Because I'm telling you. Those guys, they try to hustle the people.” So I was not too happy. I was really angry. I was ready to tell the installation guy to leave and I would get somebody else. But somebody broke into my house and I'm a truck driver, so I need the alarm and the cameras. So I told him to just put it on.

I called the light company to change my light over and that's when they introduced me to the third party that was handling ADT. I was given a wonderful deal and lots of credit.     The sales rep was a good guy. The installation went very smoothly. The service was fantastic. But the price was expensive as hell. I did a lot of negotiating, but I would have gotten more product or a full-blown solution, had it not been so much. It was like $11,000, which is ridiculous. So I took some things off and was able to get it down to about $2,700, but I wanted more. The tech had a couple of phone calls with his boss. The discounts were nothing when you're talking 10,000, 11,000, or 12,000. The system is secure but not for that amount of money. I really put all my eggs in one basket to just deal with ADT.

    The people I talked to first said that I was getting all this and that I was all set to go. When the installer came, I told him what the people said, and he said, “No, that’s not right.” I ended up buying over $500 of products. The installer was really nice. He installed the product that we wanted, but then we had a little trouble with it a couple times. Somebody came out to say that we didn't have enough voltage for the Ring alarm. It's working, but a couple of times, it doesn't. Also, installment was $99 plus tax and then we ended up paying $500, plus the first month security. I thought we were gonna get the $100 Visa card, but we haven't received it. ADT offers a lot of products. I like it because I can go to my phone and check on it all the time. That’s my main concern.     I know about ADT and I need the alarm system. So, I googled to check out the alarm company. When I called ADT, they told me the price that I thought it was until they came here. That was what I didn’t like. They told me it will only be $99 and they told me I would get all this free equipment. Then when they got here, I had to pay another $364, plus the monthly fee. They didn't tell me all that. When I questioned about it, I was told that they don't ever tell the customer that. I think that's like a bait and switch but since I need the camera that bad, I just went for it because he was here. But I didn’t like it, so I talked to a young lady yesterday about that.

    Another thing I didn't like was my son was telling the tech that he wanted the camera one way, and he did it another way. We're not really satisfied with it, but we're just dealing with it. I'm waiting for AT&T to come and upgrade my internet. I wasn't told I need a certain amount of megabytes to get more than one camera. I'm trying to see if I will even keep the company. They didn’t tell me the truth. They also told me that they were gonna give me $100 gift card. I haven’t gotten the email yet to even claim that.

    I'm Spanish and my husband is **, but I feel like there’s a lot of racists in Utah. One of our neighbors is. There's a lot of Spanish people in here. Getting a security system is something that my husband has wanted and we thought that we would be safe. We have two girls and a boy, and you can never be too careful. We feel great about the system. We also have nothing other than wonderful things to say about Daniel. He was an amazing, godly guy, polite, kind, and prudent. We used to have a DirecTV before and all the guys that would come would look creepy, with long hair, and weird, and we would be terrified, but Daniel was really nice. Still, if he wasn't wearing his tag with his name, my husband wouldn't let him in. We ended up talking about God and he was awesome.

    One other thing that I really appreciate about Daniel was that he wasn't pushy. When somebody is trying to sell something, they can get too pushy, and I hate that. We told him first I wanted to go all-out, so I wanted seven cameras, and this and that. He did the math and it was gonna be $10,200. My husband said, “Oh my gosh. No, we’re not prepared for this. Can you put it down to around $3,000?” Daniel said, “Okay.” He went thing by thing and explained to us and said, “You know, the idea will be for you to get all this, but let's see what we can cut out.” It was great. In fact, my mom lives in New York, and she really wanted it because we had amazing things to say. I would completely recommend ADT.

    The ADT rep was pretty good. I had free equipment and free installation and a Visa $100 gift card that I'm still waiting on now. The technician that came out to install was okay. He came out today to install a camera that should have been installed the day that he did the initial installation. But right now, I don't have my ADT system up and running because of a shortage. When he combined both together, because they sit behind my fireplace, the wire wasn't long enough. When I went to go put my stuff back, I started getting alert sent that I have a shortage of power. So I'm waiting on somebody to come to redo what he did or wait until he finish doing what he's doing to come back. All in all, everything was okay.

    I feel a lot more secure having ADT in my home. It works great. Their rep offered me one number, but then that wasn't honored by ADT. I guess the technology was older. The person who came to install was very good, very knowledgeable and he gave me my options. He gave me four options of different plans I could do. He made it very comfortable in talking with them, and he was certainly professional. I decided on a program I wanted, and he got it up, and then got it installed.

    In previous homes, we had ADT, but we lived in the city and dangerous neighborhoods. We thought we were okay here, so when we moved here, we didn't add it to the house. However, our next-door neighbor had a break-in during the day. We got ADT because we already had experience with their company. The installer was friendly and very clear. I felt very comfortable and everything is what we expected. We are tenants and because we cannot go through the walls of our house, we couldn't install the cameras. We had to add those cameras on our own. Besides that, we like the doorbell that has a camera and it has a good range. It's also very easy to arm the alarm and take it off. We keep it armed all day in the "Stay" mode because there have been break-ins.

    The ADT sales reps were very friendly and very informative. The only thing is some of the hardware wasn't on straight. So, I do have to call them back and let them know that they may have to come back out because it's not straight and it looks like an eyesore to me. They are willing to come back out once I'm ready. I have to paint on that area. Once I'm done doing that, then I'll call them back out to come straighten the merchandise. Other than that, everything is fine. I would encourage others to consider ADT.     The ADT salesman gave me different options and then when their rep who would do the installation came here, it was totally different. I thought it would include the cameras and stuff like that but when the installer got here, it kept adding on. So they were just in a hurry to get their sales and they wanted to go to the next call. I was disappointed 'cause I thought I was gonna get two key fobs, one for my husband and one for me. But I only have one. The installer did a good job. I just wish the package is the same as they tell us on the phone.

    I need to call the tech back because when I've armed, it beeps for me to leave but when I come back, it doesn't do anything. I did it one time when it was first installed and when I came back, it beeped. It gave me time to disarm. But this time, when I walked back in, it was quiet. So, I thought something was wrong. I tried again. I went grocery and when I came back, it was the same thing.

    We were having an issue with our home fire alarm system, and we wanted to get it taken care of. The house had security in it already. I saw an ad in one of the magazines I was looking at. I looked up ADT, called them and they answered my questions. They came out, we got their system put in and my wife seems satisfied with it. The installer was very professional, knew exactly what he needed to do, and did the best work for us. We had conference calls, and I talked to him three different times. He thoroughly explained how it was all going to work, what we needed to do, and what we could or couldn't do. He was very good at all the questions I had as well. He was very knowledgeable and helpful.

    We have the best system for our needs. It all works very easily and looks good. It seems like a very good system so far. Hopefully, I never need the security part of it, but it's there if we do. Hopefully, I never need the fire alarm or the carbon monoxide part of it as well, but we had all that installed. Hopefully, it all works well, and I don't have any headaches with it.

    My family had ADT back in the past. So, I decided to give them a call. I wish the reps would have gone into detail about how much it would cost it. They tell you you get $850 for free. Then, the guy that showed up said he wanted over $4,000 after the $850. So, I wish ADT and everybody else was upfront more about the money. Besides that, everything's been fine. The biggest thing that I had a problem with is we waited a little over a month to get an install. It was almost five weeks. The lady I talked to on the phone was very nice and pleasant. I told her exactly everything I wanted. I told her we didn't want sensors in the house because I leave dogs out at night and when I'm gone, the sensors would work. The she said, “You should get the system almost typically free. We're going to give you $850 of equipment.”

    At the end of the day, I still came out-of-pocket another $2,000 for this equipment. If I would have known it was that much, I would have never gone to ADT. $2,000 for some window sensors is craziness. ADT’s customer service pretty much said that was the going rate for their equipment. We did get the $850 off but I just wish they were truthful and upfront because legitimately, I would have never booked the appointment and waited a month and a half if I knew I was gonna drop over two G's into some window alarms. I could have gone onto Amazon and got SimpliSafe or I could have got it for not even a third of the price. But I like the equipment. I like the way everything's set up. I like the interface on it. ADT would be a good company if they're just upfront about their pricing.

    The ADT sales rep that I spoke with on the phone was fine. The gentleman that came and spoke to us in detail about the system before he installed it was Tyler. He was very nice and very educated. He was very knowledgeable, went through everything step by step, and it was a pleasure to talk to him. I would recommend him to anybody. He grew up in the town that I was a policeman in. I retired in 1996 and he graduated high school in 2008 in Princeton, and he recognized my last name, apparently, from my children. He couldn't have went into any more detail. He explained everything completely. As far as what was installed, we've got a sliding glass door, we've got an entry door, and we've got two windows, and everything is covered.     The sales rep answered all my questions. It was a good experience. I had one issue though. The first night we stayed at the home, one of the magnets for the window fell off and it set off the alarm. It woke us up at six o’clock in the morning. Thankfully, it wasn't too late night, but after looking around the house, I found that the magnet fell off, so I just reapplied it.

    There was also a bit of a mess left over from installation and there was confusion on what was needed for the initial install because I was in the process of moving in. At first, I wasn’t informed that Wi Fi was needed. When the ADT guy came to install the doorbell cameras, that's when they told me that it was needed, so I couldn’t finish the install the same day. I also don’t know when they’ll come back for the doorbell part. Other than the the install issue and the magnet falling off, I'm satisfied. So far, everything's good.

    Our security system was installed on the 10th of February and William was the person who did the work. He got here about 4:30 and worked till about 8:30 at night to get the system installed. When he left, it was up and operating. We had it armed the first night and we haven't had any trouble with it since. We have another ADT system in another house. We also have another house that has a different system on it. We've learned with each one. The one we have now represents the best qualities of both of the previous systems that we have. We like it.

    This is the first system we have that has a talking alarm and we have to get used to it. The other ones have a chime. The only thing with our system now is we are gonna adjust the voice that says things like, "Garage door open" a little bit lower. William probably thought we are older people and we can't hear very well. There are five steps on the volume and William set it on four, which is next to the highest. When I put the dog out in the middle of the night, everybody in the household jumped up.

    My ADT security system was put in on Friday and I haven’t been able to alarm my house because before I can go out the backdoor to the garage, the alarms start blaring. They don't give me enough time to get out to set the alarm and go out the door. So, something is not right. The guy who put it in came by last Sunday with his computer to see if he could set it and he could not. So, he said he was going to get somebody to set it to give me more time to get out the door before the alarm goes off. But I haven't gotten anybody to do that yet and I'm still waiting. I also feel like I was not told the truth. When ADT's reps talked to me on the phone that Thursday, they said I qualified for a new system with the Ring doorbell and for all-new equipment. But they did not tell me that everything that they were telling me came at a cost. All in all, I'm not happy with them right now.

    Our interaction with the sales rep went well but there was some misinformation. He told us the equipment that we got would be free. We were supposed to receive two door sensors, the keypad, and window sensors. I was on the phone with the rep for over an hour and he said he would include two key fobs and glass break sensors for free. But when the technician got here, he said that we had to give him my checking account. We had to pay $600. Now, my account is overdrawn $600 because I wasn't prepared for that. Besides that, we had a good technician. He was really nice and explained a lot to us. I like our system. The only thing I wasn't sure of is the volume.
