    I contacted the rep a year and a half ago, right before the pandemic. I kept postponing the installation and asking him to call back. He kept checking back with me periodically, very politely. Also, the installer was very good. He was a nice guy. His name is Miles and he did a good job. Everything was very good. I have the system set for away armed. I checked my mobile app and it still says, “armed”. We just hope everything works, and then do some upgrades later.

    I've used ADT before and it worked well, so I decided to go back to them. Everything went really smoothly and I was very satisfied. The technicians showed up on time and they were very thorough and very professional. This system is much more advanced that the one I had eight years ago. My old system had a manual keypad and this one has a touchpad. And I can control the system with my phone, so it is much more updated than the last one.

    During the installation, the guys did a good job of explaining the touchpad and the different settings to me. People just need to be aware of what all the keys mean because you have a limited amount of time before the alarms go off, then they trigger activation of police and firefighters, so you have to be quick. But with the phone and the touchpad, the system is really so easy to operate. You run to it, then you can put in your PIN code, and it's deactivated right away. I really like the system overall and I have no complaints.

    ADT is predatory and will take advantage of auto pay. After calling ADT to request cancellation of the account of a deceased relative, they intentionally dragged the process on to continue billing my account a whopping 600 plus dollars. After four phone calls over a week long period and twenty plus years of being a loyal customer they basically called my family liars and pretended no one ever called to attempt to cancel the account. Martin in corporate was the final phone call and when I suggested I would inform consumers about my experience online he demanded to know when I ever left ADT positive feedback. I PAID THEM EVERY MONTH FOR TWENTY YEARS. WAS THAT NOT ENOUGH??? The arrogance of this company is astounding. They are NOT worth it. Comcast, Ring, Wyze...take your pick and if you're smart, you will stay away from ADT. I have Comcast at our second home and they are superb. Much more reliable.

    The people in the office didn’t do nothing to retain customers. I left because I never got the answer that I was seeking for.     When I originally called, I told the guy what I wanted. I asked some questions about the doorbell, and this, that and the third. And he told me that the technician will be well equipped to do all that for me. Ryan was wonderful. But for some reason, ADT didn't convey what I initially ordered to him. He came out for something different, just to get the radio activated. But I had one with the doorbell and a door lock, and he didn't know anything about it. But it wasn't his fault. ADT didn't write the ticket for it. And he was so nice. He did what he was there to do to get us activated. Because we had just moved in a new house, and the previous owners had the system and we were just getting activated and get our camera set up.

    And then, he told me everything that I needed to tell when I called back to schedule for the door. I appreciated him. Mike came out Tuesday and put on my doorbell and door, and he was just as wonderful. Even in the mistake, the person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful. I called again, I spoke to another person, everything was good. I've been having little hitches with the app. But other than that, I like the service.

    I had ADT before and experienced problems. Made the mistake to contract with them again. Never an issue with Briscoe that we use in our office locations. It was hard to get a person to contract. They installed the cam system that stopped working a month later. Called customer service and after 30 minutes trying they sent a tech person. He arrived with attitude blaming my internet. I have Blink cams with no issues at home. Only ADT has problems. Also have two internet carriers RCN and Fios with high speed. They arranged to send another tech person today between 12 pm and 5 pm. A person that did not provide his name called me at 2 PM stating that they were unable to come. He was unable to say at any later time arrival. Decided to quit ADT and post this review so nobody else gets trapped with this lame company.

    I'm not happy that I was charged twice, then I was referred to somebody who referred me to somebody, who referred me to somebody who also referred me to somebody about possibly getting my money given back to me, even though they all admitted that it's something that happens. Right now, among the millions of things I have to do, if I don't have the time to follow up or call the 50 people that ADT gives me, they get an extra $80 of my money in their pockets. Billion-dollar ADT, listed on NASDAQ, screws me over for 80 bucks and sends me to bureaucracy, while I got a kid and I got things to do.

    I dealt with a good ADT representative. As far as the system, the only problem I have was in my previous location, I had this camera that I bought, and we're paying installment payments for like a five-year installment. But then when I moved to a new house, that camera was no longer useful, so I had to buy another one, which meant that the camera that I just bought a year ago was pretty much useless. They could not use it anymore. That was kind of a bummer because I had to buy another one.

    ADT is a popular company. The house that I moved into already had ADT signs on the lawn. I did not compare a bunch of different companies. I just went with it. I also had an ADT coupon. It just seemed simple and easy. I did compare an ADT provider to ADT directly and got a better price because of it.     Everything's working out perfectly with ADT. The technician was great. I had ADT previously and then I moved out thinking I was gonna end up selling the house. Then my plans with work changed so I ended up moving back in and getting my system back fired up. I couldn't have been happier because they also gave me an upgrade. They upgraded my panel and my camera. They changed all the batteries, too. They took care of me real good. I love that the app loads much quicker. It's so much more convenient using the new app because I was originally on the Pulse and then I got upgraded to the ADT control. I love the keypad. When I leave in general, I can hit the quick exit. Also, I enjoy that if I were to disable my alarm with the app and I wanted to set it back, I can do that from the app now whereas before, in the Pulse, I didn't have that option.     The guys that came out made me fully aware when they walked through the door that they were new to the company for the installing. They let me know that what they might need some help on, they had to reach out to their fellow comrades for assistance. I appreciate them doing that. But all in all, it was a pretty full day of work. For ADT, sending two guys out in training to put a security system on a house, the experience should have been there instead of just putting them out there like that. The training needs to be more put together.

    The ADT sales guy, Jared, was lovely. I love him. The installer did everything the way he said it was. The only thing is I don't like the way where he put that glass break sensor. If you close the cabinet door too hard, it goes off. My son comes walking around because I got hardwood floors and toddlers like to stomp and play, and it keeps tripping the thing. I just didn't want to leave a hole in my wall. I may just end up just leaving it where it is and just deal with it. Overall, I’m fine. The tech showed my wife how to adjust the settings for the doorbell camera. There's a glitch in their system, though, because one day when somebody was at the doorbell, I tried to see who was at the door, but it kept saying, "Try again." I have full signal on my phone.

    ADT put me on an installation schedule the same day that I made the purchase. The installers were nice guys. There are a couple of things I've been trying to figure out if it actually works the way my old system did. And one is being able to remote unlock the key with the code at the front door. I haven't been able to figure that out. And we used to get an alarm if one of the doors was left open for a long time, and we like that because sometimes we forget to shut the door. My favorite thing about it that I didn't have before is that I can alarm only certain doors. So, if I'm having a party, I can set the alarm on the front door, but we could be going in and out of the back door. That's cool.

    I recently just had a move, and the installer of my ADT system caused $8,000 worth of damage to my electricity in my house. He cut into some wires. I need to call an electrician, and I had to dish out $8,000 waiting on a claim. So, I’m not really happy right now. I’m okay with the system but ADT is still far to making sure that the installers know what they're doing. Whether or not it's contracted out, it's still ADT on the guy’s name on his shirt when he came to my house.

    Since we bought our first house back in 2014, we decided, having kids at home, we wanted a security system to feel better. Since we've always had a house, we've always had a security system. We originally went with ADT back then because they happened to knock on our door one day and offer us free installation. Being a loyal customer, we've always stayed with them. Then we ended up moving to an apartment, and we had to end our contracts. It was not a good experience with ADT at that moment.

    When we bought our new house two years later, which is the one we just got, we did think about the other companies. We called around to Vivint and different places, and then we were like, “You know what? We'll call ADT again, and just kind of say, ‘Hey, you can make it up to us. What happened and that experience we had, we could consider going with you guys again.’” They were able to give us discounts and show us that they wanted to make it right. They gave us a great deal. We went with them again.

    I've not had any complaints from the calling initially to set up, to get prices, to have any appointments scheduled, to the guy that came to my house. The representative that talked with me to the guy who installed was a good customer experience all around. This time, we went with the company's doorbell camera. Last time, it was a Ring doorbell. We feel like with this new one, the visual quality is a lot better. Then we went with an outdoor camera, which is something we've never done before.

    The equipment cost and the installation cost are something to compare. We called Vivint, and their equipment cost is $3,000. ADT charged us 1,000. That was a huge difference. The availability was also a factor. They booked me two to three weeks out. Then, they knew how bad I needed it quickly, so they were able to call me and squeeze me in when an appointment came up. I really appreciated that. We ended up getting it off a lot faster than originally scheduled.

    ADT was a little bit pricier than I was expecting. But it is what it is. Everything was clear. There was quite a few hiccups in getting the schedule corrected. I was first given one day that didn't work for me. Then while the rep was here, we both agreed on the 28th, which was last Friday. Unfortunately, I received no less than six different emails showing different dates. Some pushed out as far as June 23rd. Then when I called back, they said the earliest date was June 3rd, and then they finally were able to make last Friday happen as originally agreed.

    The sales representatives were all very nice and helpful, but I was a little surprised about some invoices I got being I've been a customer for a long time at my other place. I thought somebody could help me with the price. Also, moving from one town to another, we transferred the service over. The pricing was explained very little, because they said the system was hooked up already at the new place. They said they recently ran a check and everything was functioning. When the guy came to install though, he said nothing was working correctly. Apparently, all the connectors on the windows, nothing worked. I spent a considerable amount of money again, which was $457. I wasn't too happy about that. I knew I needed a new panel 'cause it was old, but I didn't expect all this other stuff to occur.

    My husband wants to quit the service. I said, "Whatever." I just had the system installed April 26th and I had my apartment painted as well. Unfortunately, the painter took out the transponder on the wall, so I had no AC currents coming in. Yesterday, I had to make a call and the guy was here not even half an hour. ADT charged me another $121, which is a lot of money in addition to the first charge of $457. That's almost $600 in the last month for ADT. The workers are very nice, the system is fine and the monthly charge is no big deal. However, I wish somebody could give me a credit. It's a small condo. I have five windows, a sliding door and a front door. I'm very dissatisfied with the prices ADT gave me.

    I would like to give an extra accolade to our technician. He was very patient and he went over and above. He saw that I was relocating into a new home, and I was having a lot of problems with the DirecTV technician. Our ADT technician took the extra time to make sure that I was satisfied and knowledgeable about what he was putting in. Then, on his day off, he came in for the last bit of equipment, which was the doorbell and the camera, because I didn't have enough high-speed internet at the time. I really appreciated it.

    I was a previous customer for 20 years. I had ADT in the home before my last and I feel like the system is new and improved than it was. I have the best panel that ADT has. It's a little more user-friendly than the ones in the past. The technician spent a lot of time teaching me how to use it and helping me set up the app and all its features. I like it.     When I was talking to the ADT lady on the phone before I determined whether or not I was going to get ADT, she said, “Here are some of the reasons people chose ADT. Not that you have to for those same reasons.” I didn't feel she was trying to be pushy. She just gave me some data and she was more than helpful as well as extremely consumer-conscious. The gentleman that came to our house was very helpful and consumer-friendly as well. He was down-to-earth. He took his time, answered questions and didn't try to oversell us. I really like the fact that he also wasn't pushy at all. He told us what they had to offer and he talked about his experience and what he did with his system. I would highly would recommend him. He was amazing.

    When the gentleman did the installation, he cleaned up after himself. He talked about where we should place our panel, why this place versus that place, and why some customers like it in certain areas. We didn't even think about that beforehand, so the guy was very good there. When he placed the camera outside, he explained why he was going to put it in that area.

    Living in Arizona and where we do, we have a lot of animals and I like the fact that the system catches that and it lets us know what's there. I also like the fact that the panel is extremely easy to operate. I'm not technically challenged, but I didn't want something that was going to be complicated. We used to have one from Xfinity, and it was more complicated. If somebody even needed a referral, I would definitely speak to somebody about ADT. That's how happy we are.

    We have had ADT for over 20 years. The service is fairly good, but their technology is not as advanced as Vivint, from what I have observed. The system requires telephone service, so it is landline based which could pose a problem if the power and phones are down. I would prefer some other form of backup to this element of their service.

    The house wasn't wired for ADT and four guys from Sioux Valley had to come out and wire it because it was a whole new installment. The system is safe and reasonably easy to use, based on their phone and cameras around the house. So, it's very self-explanatory and everything has been running smoothly. I like the app on the phone where I can monitor my family and kids if I'm gone. It’s cool. If the system goes down at the house for an electrical problem like a rainout or a storm, that's the only disadvantage because it's offline. But other than that, it has good quality. I would recommend ADT because you want to feel safe. Safety is everything and ADT helps. When people see ADT in the yard and see the cameras, it keeps people away from trying to do anything harm to your family to a degree because they know somebody is going to be monitoring it.

    When I initially set the service up, I told them that I wanted a camera but they told me it was going to inflate my bill and such. Then, I heard in an ADT advertisement that I can get a free camera and when I called back and asked about it, they said that I can get the free camera but my monthly bill is gonna increase by $25 or $30. I wish the advertisement was a little more informative and it should say something like, "Applicable rates may apply," or something.

    Other than that, it was a good experience. I'm not very tech-savvy so I was very intimidated because the system looks complicated. The installer made it very comfortable and he showed me everything. He also downloaded the app on my phone and such. Getting a new gadget and not knowing how to work it is frustrating and he took that away. Also, I like the features that I have pretty good. I especially like the cell phone app because sometimes, I'm running out and I forget to kind of set the alarm. It's really good for my daughter as well. If she leaves, she doesn't have to worry about forgetting something inside the house. We can undo the alarm from the cell phone. That feature really is beneficial for someone like me.

    I've been an ADT customer for about 15 years. The first 7 or 8 years, it seemed to work smoothly. Then we started having issues with the system. Battery continuously failing... Even after having several techs come out and troubleshoot, it would eventually (within a few months) start having issues again. Communication between our system and their monitoring system continuously failing too. Finally, and recently, the system just stopped working altogether (couldn't even turn on the alarm). That was it for me. Perhaps their newer systems are more reliable, but I'm washing my hands of them.

    ADT, is good with monitoring. However, our installer also promised us medical alert necklaces for no charge for my chronically ill child. My husband stayed at the new house with him. Total bill for my free equipment was 6,000. This is for 1500 square foot house. The cost of set up is not worth it. We never got the necklace, called and he couldn’t talk, would get back to me but didn’t. I gave them a 3 strictly because of the monitoring.

    The system itself is fine, but the customer service leaves a lot to be desired. We had a faulty connection, and the alarm would go off in the middle of the night. We called and ADT said they'd send a tech out the next day. We were given a 5 hour window, which is a ridiculous amount of time to wait. We were told that the tech would call when he was 30 minutes away. So we rearranged our entire schedules to stay home for 5 hours and wait for a call that never came. We had things that had to be done, and after waiting 5 hours for nothing, we left. Fifteen minutes later, the tech calls. He's at our house and nobody's home.

    ADT got pretty ignorant with us. We waited and never got a call, and he showed up late. We had to reschedule. So we went through the same thing the next day. He never bothered to either show or call. So for two days in a row, we completely rearranged the other things we had to do so we could wait hours and hours for nothing. By the time we could reschedule, we'd gone an entire week without alarm protection. Needless to say, when the bill comes due, we will be going with another service. No apologies, nothing. This company cares nothing about the safety of its paying customers. We've been with them for 18 years, but not much longer.

    The techs installed everything they needed to. Our builder gave us a front door keypad that's touchless and the techs were trying to sync it with ADT’s security system and it wasn't working. It turned out there was a glitch with the keypad from the builder. So, we're asking for a replacement and hopefully, the techs can come out once they get the replacement to sync it up properly. Other than that, we have no issues. The doorbell seems to be working fine now. I like the phone app and the accessibility. I have had ADT for seven years. When I moved into my previous property three years ago, it was not as high-tech. But now, it is. We have the sensors and we have a driveway so we can view people outside our place.     I had ADT previously and I had no complaints with the previous service. I found it to be decent, and the pricing was well as well as the response. I just moved and continued the service. I was surprised that I was told to leave the equipment at the old residence, but other than that, the transition was very easy. I was unavailable and going out of town, so getting the new setup was a little delayed, but they were willing to schedule the appointment for installation almost immediately. Everything was painless as well as professional even during this COVID. The representative came, wore a face mask and explained any questions that I had, which I didn’t ask him questions.

    I got some added features this time around, as opposed to the last service that I had. Now, I have the cameras in the front and back of my home. I also added a motion sensor, which I didn't think about too much because if I put it in Away mode, the person that comes out of the bedroom on the first floor is going to set it off each time. Now, we're only going to use that feature when we're all out of the home. I have to use the Stay feature. ADT is a reputable company. They've been around for a long time and I feel that it lives up to its name. I'm happy with it. I know there are others out here that are less expensive, but to me, you sometimes get what you pay for. With ADT, I feel the confidence in knowing that if I call, then someone's going to respond.

    ADT provides the most comprehensive products for my house and eventually my apartment, giving me flexibility to ensure my home is secured and even visible digitally.     The house I was moving into was my niece's. She already had ADT and I wanted to continue it. Getting everything switched over to my information was easy enough but the other day, they sent a letter to my niece's name but all this is supposed to be in my name. Also, I got a bill for this month's payment and when I had it done last month, I gave the rep the information to set up a draft on my bank account. In the letter, they had my bank account number but they were sending it to her instead of me.

    But the rep who came out and did the maintenance was very helpful. They had to put in a new communication deal and he's the one that took the information on my bank account to have it taken directly out. He told me about the app and helped me set it up on my phone.     The sales rep was knowledgeable, but the cost was a little staggering. Also, the monthly monitoring fee that I signed was different than we agreed, and now they're sending me emails that are even a different amount. It's disparaging from a national company to get that kind of windshield wipering of information, especially to a new customer. I called them. Their best foot forward could use a lot of work.

    Upon installation, the training for a new customer for an expensive system was bad, and it's disappointing. As it turns out, I had a new cell phone, new contact information on email, and I updated all of that by myself online, in an effort to save time. Those changes take 24 to 48 hours to take effect, so consequently, an alarm that was triggered during that time frame was the worst case scenario, with law enforcement dispatched. That's a good test run for the system, but the training from the installation, she told me, "If the alarm goes off, you can still enter in a code, but then there's also a cancel button behind that.” If I’d hit the cancel button, then law enforcement would never have been dispatched.

    ADT should also make good on the offers they're sending me now compared to what I signed on the contract for a year. There's an extension that's required for a longer period of time, which is fine. This is my home. I'm not going anywhere. I resubmitted everything with the offer they sent me in the email yesterday, just to see who would call me. I haven't been called yet by ADT. I'm in for a year already and I'm not happy.

    After the storm, the little guy that came the first time to see where everything was gonna be installed was cooperative and got the system installed. However, I was trying to get ADT to put the account on hold because I wasn't living in the house at the time and they were charging me for it. It was a little difficult at the first time. They kept calling me saying I had a signal. I told them I didn't have a signal because I didn't have an equipment in that house. They finally took me off the bill till I got back into the house. The two guys that came out did a terrific job. The first one told me make sure I get my paperwork for the insurance so I did that.

    If something happens again, ADT shouldn't charge the people if the area is hit bad with hurricanes. If something happens to an area and ADT has their equipment out there and they're monitoring people's houses, they should check with them, see if they're okay and if the system's still working. If it is, continue charging them and monitoring their homes. But if they don't have any equipment or it’s damaged due to a storm, they can't say they’re monitoring because the people are not there. Just put the charge on hold till everything gets back to normal.

The rep was trying to get me to do a self-install type thing but that wasn't what I wanted to do. I called ADT because I figured that they had people that come to your home. I needed somebody to come and look at what I already have and see what I needed to get. Once he saw what I was calling for and what I needed, it went forward from there.

    I was trying to understand the options and pricing and it was a little bit tough to get that information. There's no flexibility with pricing and contracts. They're unable to work with the customer a whole lot. But the gentleman that came to the house, Steve, and the technician that came to set everything up were both very good and professional. The installer took a few minutes to show me how to set up the app and different things like that. Then, he came back a couple of days later because the battery was going out and he took care of that. Also, it's a quality system but I wish it could run over the internet rather than over a cellular network. There's some kind of security concern according to ADT. It was a little difficult. Maybe there needs to be an easy way to start a quote and then be able to come back to it and finish it. I would have liked to be able to contact the same service representative directly to continue and there was no way to do that.

    The system is really cool but I've been getting so many notifications. The shower set off the smoke detector and a paramedic showed up at the house. Also, the camera sensors go off for so many different things - like animals, the wind blowing in the leaves, or bugs flying by at night. It's notification fatigue and then it's not helpful. Maybe it would have been nice to have more help. I was asked to decide exactly where I wanted to put all the cameras and everything and I had no clue. I know I’m not using the system effectively yet. But it's mostly been a good experience. The guy who set it up, Pierre, was very communicative. I texted him afterward with a question and he called me right back and helped me through it.

    The guy who installed the system was friendly and polite and he answered questions. But I'm resistant to using the system all the time. I'm not firing up the system every night when I go to bed because I have this fear that a dog is going to set off the motion sensor and the alarm. More importantly, if a grandchild gets up to go to the bathroom and the motion sensor detects it. What happens? I don't have that clear in my mind and that's kept me from fully charging the system at night. I wanted to talk to someone about that, to make sure I'm on the right page.

    My salesman did an outstanding job. On the other hand, my installation guy was a little sloppy. He was looking for a box before he realized it was a wireless system. He also pulled down my attic stairs, went up and turned the light on in my attic then he left it that way. I'm old now and I can't climb ladders, so I had to find somebody. It's not that big of a deal, but that kind of stuff is a reflection on the company he works for. Another thing is, I got a doorbell and where he took all the old stuff off, he just left them all right there by the old doorbell. Apart from those, he did a good job on the installation. Also, the equipment is easy to use and I like the part where I get all the information on my phone, where I can set it and turn it off by my phone.

    The sales rep broke everything down for us and he was nice. My son was being a little pain that day, but the sales rep was very understanding. He was great. On the other hand, the tech was really quiet. We were also told that it would be $14 a month, but that was just for the equipment. As he tried to explain it, somewhere I was confused.     I like the ADT system and I liked the way the guy came out and worked with me because I had dial-up telephone service. But I never signed any papers at all for anything and I noticed that when I got the contract, there was a scribble across where my name should be. That's not me. And I noticed that they have what they call a direct withdrawal from my checking account and that was never authorized. But I have stopped the direct withdrawal from my checking account. Also, I've been checking around and it looks like I'm paying the highest monthly charge to be monitored. I'm thinking of quitting completely. I am having a very hard time getting back to the company and expressing my dissatisfaction. I've got to get somebody to listen to me. I'm not signing up for 60 months and I don't think that I should be paying twice as much as my neighbor is paying.

    There was one technician that came out for the installation. He was experienced and completed the install. He was clean as far as not making a mess or damaging anything. He gave me some options in terms of how to position the sensors on the windows. Sometimes, sensors are too bulky and hit the blinds that hang over the window. We thought that we may have to take some items out but he was able to find a way to get it done.

    However, I have another ADT system in another home that I need to turn off but I was told that I'm still under contract. That's kinda troubling to me. Also, I paid the technician for the install but since I have another system, they applied that payment to my other system and not the one that was being installed. I had another charge that came out yesterday, not the same amount, but almost the same amount as I already paid. That kind of threw me off. I thought there were two separate accounts but I was told my accounts are merged. There could have been better communication on that so the customer's not confused and trying to figure out what’s going on.

    The overall experience was ok... It might have been great but after I had it installed and was in a contract, I was bombarded with quite a few better deals with NO contract. The system was ok not hard to figure out, but the window and door sensors were pretty cheap and not placed properly. I would open the window and the sensor would fall off batteries would fall out. Not good. The tech. Seemed to be in a rush to get done and gone. It was okay but I DID NOT renew my contract even when offered a discount. Summing up there ARE better deals out there.

    I've had ADT for 10 years. I had them in a home I had before then I just moved here and bought a home, so I used them again. For whatever reason though, their cameras don't work with certain things and they should let people know before they buy. They should also check that out because we spent a lot of time trying to get that to work and it didn't. My Wi-FI is fine. I work at home and everything else was fine. However, the installer had a problem because the internet wasn't holding it. He tried all different kinds of things trying to get it to work. Because I was like, "Never mind. I don't want it," and he was like, "No. I can do it." He was trying to pretend, then called the tech people and he appeared to be trying to get it to work. Unfortunately, the internet wasn't able to do that. I still have ADT. I just don't have that one function.

    I've had ADT in the past, from a previous house that I owned. I went to Slomin's when I bought the house and I liked their service. But I liked the fact that ADT has their own monitoring centers. The only thing that is up and down for me that I just had the alarm go off not too long ago, and no one ever called. Whereas with Slomin's, I didn't have that issue. And then, I called ADT and the young lady told me that I put in my code within a few seconds, like I came in the door, and the alarm went off. Someone should have at least called, but no one did. Even if the alarm went off and I happened to trip it, someone should still call. That's the only advantage that Slomin's had - if the alarm went off at any point, they would call. If I didn't answer the phone, then the cops would be here. Regardless if it goes off or not, like if I just happened to walk in the door, and I had the alarm on and I put my key in the door, and I forgot to turn the alarm off, they at least should call.

    I went with them in the first place because they had monitoring systems. But I was probably better off staying with Slomin's for the simple fact that anytime the alarm went off, it didn't matter if I just tripped it, someone at least would call just to see if I was okay. That's the purpose of actually having the alarm system. I recommended to my sister and she's getting it. The whole system is great, the cameras and all that stuff, but if it's not working, I don't even know who to call. It's not working right. There are little glitchy things that I don't like about the system right now.

    I am a business that was affected by the pandemic and we had to close our doors. I called to cancel service, and was told I had to pay $563.00 to finish out contract, then ADT submitted a bill request for $695.31 from my bank account! When I called they could not tell me why the increase and offered a refund of the difference. So they were going to steal from someone when they are already at their low. I did not receive any financial assistance for my business failing but they have the nerve to try and take more from my family. So very sad that a company feels they need to take advantage of others.     The people that I dealt with were nice but when they came to do the install, it was as if there were a lot of other things that were going to be done partly in my request such as putting in sensors. But they weren't included so the install ended up costing a lot of money. Maybe I was told it was gonna be that way but I didn't realize that it was gonna be as pricey as it was. Now, they are amortizing it over the life of the contract.

    When I signed up with ADT, it was informative. But there were some questions that could have been answered through a more experienced rep. But when I called back, I was able to get a few things cleared up with the second rep that I contacted. However, we had some hiccups. There was an item that was put into the wrong place after we had discussed it a few times. The tech put a carbon monoxide detector in the wrong bedroom after we had discussed it a few times. So he came back and he was going to put one in the correct bedroom. But he ended up removing one from a bedroom, leaving holes in our ceiling.

    Then we were informed that we would have to pay for that charge should he need to fix that. So we just threw our hands up. We also didn't receive any literature in terms of how to work the system. I think that that would be beneficial, rather than being told that we should work directly with that sales rep who installed. Because that's not comfortable nor do I feel that's professional to text back and forth.

    The sales and customer service people did a good job but the installation experience wasn't that great. I have cameras that don't work at night. I’m really not satisfied with the positioning of them either 'cause they don't capture the entire yard. They came out and tried to fix the cameras but they couldn't solve the problem. So they're gonna reorder new cameras and I have to wait a whole month before this can be rectified. I wasn't even offered anything for my inconvenience.     Our experience with ADT was good overall. However, the equipment we used on the windows and doors was a little confusing and I ended up spending more than I anticipated. We ran into some problems because we can only add so much with the Wi-Fi. And it's not the download speed as much as the upload. The way they explained it to us is their upload off towers is about maxed at 8 and every camera takes 2 to 2.5. So I ended up with 4 cameras and I was gonna add two more but we don't have the upload capacity to handle it. But everything else is every bit I expected.

    ADT is all we ever use. Good quality service. The gentleman who came out and spoke to me was very courteous. Even the things that I wouldn't get for my home, he still went over details and share with me the benefit of having it and being able to have this as a part of my service. And the gentleman who came out and put my system in, both of them did a wonderful job. They were COVID prepared. They wore their masks and didn't shake my hands.

    I had a system that was already inside of my house so the tech had to do some wiring with the old system getting it out of place to put in a new system. The installation took 45 minutes. He then gave me a pamphlet and he went through it. He took me over to the new system and showed me exactly how to turn it on, arm it, disarm it. He explained everything to me.

    Because I got a new system now, the box looks the same, but the apps are different on this system than the one that I used to have. I like it because of the different chimes and how loud and low you can have it. I got a decent dashboard put at home and I can hear it all through the house, when the doors open. It gives you enough time to be able to get your stuff from one area to another area, out of the house. And I added the doorbell to my system. That was something that I didn't have. The tech showed me how to work it as well. Every time somebody comes to the house, I don't have to be at home. I can talk through the mic and I don't have to get off. I love it.

    I had ADT up until my husband died, and I had to have a Medical Alert. But they went up to $87. I couldn't afford that after he passed, so I got another company. I had the other company and two of my smoke detectors went out. I called them, they sent me one, and they tell me I'd have to pay somebody to install it. I said, "Well, I'm 85 years old. I'll get a company that got a serviceman that could install. I can't get up there to install it."

    The ADT team was very helpful, prompt and professional. I called them and the receptionist that I spoke to handled the appointment. Then the next day, the technician was there and he set the system up for me. It wasn't much for him to do 'cause it was already installed. But he did show a family member how to use the panel. I didn't have phone service or cable there yet but I was told that it wasn't needed to have the ADT. They have their own. The techhnician also changed the passcode. That sets the alarm and if something happens, like the door gets opened or the window gets opened, it goes right directly to your receiving center. Everything is working fine.     I had a system installed at my old house, but I just moved out and bought a well-built, older house. I wanted to transfer the service and ADT was prompt and quick to get out here and get everything set up and going. The installation went all right as well even though it was a bit more difficult for the guy to get some of the cameras in. The house is built a little differently and he had to drill through the walls. Other than that, I like the system. It's the same as I had before, except the cameras are new and they have audio, so that's neat. The cameras at the old place didn't have any sound.

    The ADT system is supposed to give out an alert when someone is on that property. But you need a laptop or a computer in order to set up where the system will give an alert when someone's on the property. Since I don’t have a computer, one of their technicians is going to come out here and fix it so that I will get an announcement when someone comes up on that property. So unless I monitor my phone, I don't know if there's anybody on my property or not. I have another system where I don't even have to go through that process of asking them to alert my phone. They just alert my phone automatically when it detects motion. With ADT, you don't.

    I have weak spots at my house and sometimes my cameras come in and sometimes they don't. The technician said that he was going to come over and input something in to help the signal. But it should be something that once you find out that you have a weak signal somewhere, it should be a standard operating procedure to install an extender.

    Updated on 05/09/2021: So ADT will make you sign a 2 year contract with them. Within the first year, we’ve been having false alarms in the middle of the night or at 3am. It was terrifying experience. They came and replaced the whole system twice. We want to get out of our contract because false alarms are so scary, specially when it wakes you up from a deep sleep. They won’t let us cancel our contract unless we pay $1,200. We told them, we won’t cancel but they need to get this fixed.

    We scheduled techs to come and look at the system again but nobody showed up, no one bothered to call us. We feel like we are being discriminated for being gay as one of the techs made a comment about it when he came and replaced our system. We asked for a manager to call us more than a month now. We called all the agents can only say is “we are sorry”. So now, they just cancelled our account without even talking to us and they want us to pay for $1,300 cancellation fee. This is insane! So I advice to stay away from this company and save yourself a nightmare. We have a video of false alarms going off. I want to upload it I but could not find a way to do it here. I would give this company a zero!!! Horrible!

    Original: So we have ADT system for 7 months now. The fire alarm went off at 3 am multiple times for no reason whatsoever. We called them, multiple different service guy came to check on it, they even replaced the whole system twice. And guess what, it is ** the same. We had 6 months to cancel it, we requested that at our 6-month mark and they won’t let us. They gave us multiple reasons, but were not able to fix the issue. It is terrifying when fire alarm will wake you up from a deep sleep. They won’t call you back, they just don’t care. We wanted a security system that will make us safe, not something that will scare the hell out of you. Stay away from this company. Worst service ever! If I can give zero, I would.

    On March 25, 2021 I had an appointment with ADT to come to my house and replace my unit. While the technician was in my basement, he unplugged my freezer that was in the same outlet. I didn't see him unplug it. The ADT unit was plugged into same outlet. Yesterday I went to our basement to get some hamburger from the freezer for dinner. I opened the door and the smell was horrific!!! The technician did not plug my freezer back in. I had $300.00 dollars worth of meat completely ruined! I have contacted ADT with no response from them.     Dylan was the agent that did the installation in the home. I liked the way he did everything but the holes that he drilled would be nicer if they had the plastic cover that seals them so no insects goes through. He did everything on two days and he did great. The only thing was he didn't install the Ring door. I don't have that bell that will ring me or can shoot me a video when someone is going by the sensor and it comes out over there in the front camera.

    I called customer service, however, I forgot the access code. But then they'll be able to handle that right away once I get through with them. Overall, I love ADT's service. I’m very satisfied how everything's working out. We haven't gone to find out how does the system works. But just the installation and the customer service itself were good.     I got a lot of equipment credit once I started talking to ADT and that was appealing. However, it was a little frustrating because they told me that it was gonna be a really quick call but I ended up being on the phone with them for over half an hour. I wasn't in the right mindset to ask probably as many questions as I would have ‘cause I was kind of thinking, at any minute, the call was gonna be over so I could get back to doing something that I needed to do. But they were very helpful and proactive which was good. When I first spoke on the phone to them, I didn't realize that it wasn't ADT directly. When I got the email from Protect Your Home and realized that it wasn’t ADT, it made me kind of nervous. I did some research online and had seen some pretty mixed reviews so I was a little cautious when the person came to our house. But the guy was friendly and he seemed to know what he was talking about. He was polite and conscientious.

    So far, the system has been pretty good. It took me a little while to get the right alerts on my phone because I was getting sort of alerts for everything. Any time someone would walk past our house, it would send me a text and a pop-up alert on my phone. We could have probably had the guy sort of show us exactly how to do it but we figured it out and it wasn't difficult. It was all in all a good experience.

    I had 2 false fire alarms and numerous false break-in alarms over 2 years. (none related to bad weather) A technician came out on several occasions and was not successful in fixing the problem. After having the police come out several times and having a fire truck stuck and buried in my front yard I said enough. For the past 6 months, I did not arm the system. I canceled my service after 2 years plus. ADT is now charging me a $150.00 cancelation fee. What a company. Based on my experience 1 star is being generous.

    ADT has that two or three-inch little thing that they put on the window or on the door and they put it way down at the bottom. Anybody's gonna either kick in to it or every time you go open the window, you can hit it. I had my electrician put them up on the top of the window so they wouldn't be in the way. And then the station, they just put a cord plugged into an outlet, and then they let the wire hang out. So now, I got a station there and the wires hanging out. And it should be drawn down through the wall and connected to the outlet. It’s unfinished work. I called the guy that did the work. He said, “Don't talk to me. Talk to ADT." I will have to do that with customer service.

    I have this constant complaint that I’ve written letters. I’ve talked to people there, but it never gets done. I have seven accounts with them and ADT called and said, “Oh, we're calling you about alarm alert.” I said, “Which address?” “Oh, I don't know. Well, maybe give me your phone number.” You wouldn't go through this with this person, and there's a fire in my building and a fire alert. And I have to go out with the ** of this girl that doesn't know what the hell where the alarm is. So, she starts getting my phone number and searching each one of the accounts. They would try to find it fast, and then that doesn't happen. And then, of course, there are different passwords for each unit. And in the meantime, I have no help. They're supposed to call the fire engine but they don't know where they have to send it to. That is the biggest liability that this company has, and they're going to get a class action suit on it.

    I pay $150 quarterly to get the private control patrol that you have in the area to come by. And these people on the phone, they put it right out to the police. So now, I get a $300 to $400 false alarm. And these girls don't check that, “Hey, I'm paying extra for the private patrol. Just call the patrol.” I don't know how many times that has happened. I have lost money on that one. That's a big one too.

    I have a house that I did hardwire electrical throughout. I had a water damage and we had to take not only ADT's system out in this one room, the wiring out of there, because the water damage was salt. So it affected all low voltage wiring and regular wiring. So now, ADT's guys came over and all they wanted to do was do the easy thing and put the battery things substitution in there. I insisted, “No, if I originally got this house and paid more money to have it hardwired, I want it.” Finally, we had to get ahold of the main manager over construction. So if a person already has hardwire, continue with it. Don't do these shortcuts of just these remote control. Because what happens is the batteries wear out. There you are on a vacation for a month, and the battery went out on that one particular station, it's not protected.

    I know they have the construction division. Because it's a four-unit apartment building, so I emptied it of everybody. And they had spaghetti wires all on the outside. So I said, “Listen, if you're going to be here, you got to put them in a plastic channel so that they come from the poles down this plastic channel to my building, then into the garage and over to a certain station just for you. And then rethread it back up through the walls up to the individual unit.” I finally got that done.

    They came over and they changed the placement on this channeling on the outside, and that was nice. But they left big holes where they took out the channeling that were there. And that is going to make me susceptible to termites or any bugs that want to get into the building. That’s against the construction company section. Also, I just want to be sure ADT sends a bill every month, because I don't like paperless. If there's a mistake on it, most people don't even bother to look at it on their credit card.

    ADT told me when I ordered the system that I had $1,800 worth of security things that I could use in the house. When the installer got here, that wasn't true. He said that I only had $800 worth. They didn't know anything about the $1,800. I then talked to a manager who approved it. This was the only thing that I got pissed off about. Other than that, everything was good. The installation team was nice and they did what they had to do. They respected my home as far as covering their shoes and they walked me through what was what. But, ADT owes me right now 'cause my system is not arming from the keypad at the house. I have to set it from my phone. I have to be home for them to resolve the issue but I'm a truck driver and nobody's there but me. I still think ADT is good and I would definitely recommend them to somebody else.

    New homeowners here, our home inspections service gave our info to ADT. Took a call and told them probably no thanks, basically. Moved in and got a door to door solicitation. Salesperson (unmasked) couched offer as a "new homeowner credit" or similar but refused to call it a sales solicitation. So what they just see which homes sell and cold call with a discount offer? Not sure how they scrape and filter personal data for their leads but it's annoying. No thanks.

    I signed up with ADT because my real estate agent advised she had a great promotion with the company. I spoke to an agent over the phone and advised what I wanted. An installation technician came out within a week. Once the installation tech arrived I advised him that the home was already hardwired with an alarm system and all of my windows had sensors. I made it very clear I wanted all of my window sensors to work. He advised that the new system he was installing may not work with the sensors, but that he would let me know. In the middle of the install I asked how it was going and again brought up my window sensors. He advised at that time that they wouldn’t work with ADT. I told him that as long as I could still hear the alerts when they were opened on the other panel I was okay. (I initially had 2 panels, both from the original system. He advised yes I would still be able to hear the alerts.

    Fast forward to almost 6 hours later he’s done and showing me how the system works. I go to test a window by opening it, wouldn’t you know, there’s no alert. I asked why didn’t the other Panel alert me as he said it would still work. He then replied and apologized and said his new system took over the old one and nothing would work from the old system now. He again said he was sorry for the confusion. He thought I was okay with not having window sensors and then offered for me to buy ones through ADT.

    I was so upset at that point, I’m pretty sure my blood pressure hit the roof. My husband was extremely aggravated as well, but we just wanted this guy out of our house so we could go eat dinner. It’s been almost a week and no one has contacted us to see how the installation went, to see if we are happy with the system. I can tell you this company will promise you one thing and then try to upcharge you with products that other providers will include in your monitoring package. If you want to be taken advantage of and lied to call this company.

    I worked in Rochester, Minnesota and I know ADT is a good outfit. I thought they were. My experience calling in and trying to reason with somebody was a total disaster. My system was put in two weeks ago tomorrow. It worked for two days and it hasn't worked since. I've tried to get ahold of ADT for a week. It keeps getting put on hold. Tried to cancel my contract, they said I got three days to do that. They made me believe they can fix it. Then I went on vacation. I had no security for my house while I was on a vacation, and then they threw the three-day cancellation in my face. I told them, "Come and tear this stuff out." They wouldn't come and tear it out because I missed the three days. How can I miss the three days? The son of a ** did not work for three days.

    The tech sold me two fobs, he only had one, and he found a makeshift second one and he couldn't get it programmed because the battery was dead in it, so he said, "I'd mail you a fob and I'll walk you through on the phone how to program the fob." I haven't seen any fob in the mail. So now, ADT thinks I got two fobs and I'm fighting with him on getting a second son fob out of them. And the soonest they can look at it is April 5th. When they want to sell you the son of a **, they were out Johnny-on-the-spot. When you have trouble with it, they don't show up or answer their phone or reason with you. That was totally pathetic. I hope I'm not paying nothing on it. I went with a more experienced company, a bigger name, and I got zero service. It's going to be turned over to my uncle who's a lawyer because I got zero cooperation out of them. My system is still down. If anybody asked me about ADT, I would tell them to look elsewhere.

    Signing up was quite a hassle. They had to put my old address in because I didn't know my new address yet. When I found out what my new address was gonna be the following week, I kept getting transferred every time I called. I'd be on hold forever and nobody knew where they were transferring me to. Then, when I finally was able to change my address, the tech still ended up going to my old address. Also, they told me it would be 23.99 or 24.99 a month but when the tech came, he said they should have explained to me that the only way to get that was if I had an Ethernet cord hooked up to my cable or my modem. And I would have to call my cable company and get it set up that way. Otherwise, it's 54.

    My sales rep told me what my credits were and explained a lot more than what was explained on the phone. I didn't realize how expensive everything was but he walked me through it.     My parents were changing environments and I wanted to make sure that they were moving into a safe residence. I looked into Nest. A lot of that was do-it-yourself, including installation. I didn't feel comfortable installing those products myself. Then ADT has monitoring and this little key fob that would be totally helpful for my parents, to make it something as simple for them as possible ‘cause they're really technology-adverse.

    The call center was great. She was the one who convinced me to go with ADT. They had this plan where they explained that depending on your credit rating, you get a certain amount of the equipment that they're selling for free based on your credit score. We talked about what to implement in the home and I gave her details of the residence. The second individual I worked with was the technician. When he came to the house, there just seemed to be a communication gap between the two, because it seemed like what she was talking about what was included in the plan and what was included in the cost, he wasn't necessarily aligned with. But in the end, it all worked out.

    There were two windows near the door and he said, “All they have to do is break this window and they can turn the latch, and they're in.” Obviously, the alarm system included shatter-proof windows. However, in addition to the alarms, to deter the burglar even more, he told me to get shatter-proof window installation. It was something that was easily installed that I did on my own which prevents the glass from shattering and allowing them to break through the window. It just gives a couple more minutes for the alarm system to kick in place while keeping the house a little bit more secure. That was one example of some of the security risks that he pointed out that I could do on my own to help better secure my home.

    People's needs are different depending on what their needs are of a security system. ADT just happened to be the perfect service for us because I wanted something that was extremely user-friendly, something that I wouldn't have to monitor, I wouldn't have to worry about for my parents, and they would do the installation. They have 152 years of security service, which is supposed to be in the market. I've been using the alarm system every day and I haven't gotten any calls of any burglaries.

    I was switching my electricity over to a new place and the provider said that they had a promotional where they could help me getting the address moved over. They also said they had a deal with ADT. I told them that I already had a keypad wired for ADT and that all they had to do was turn it on. They then switched me over. When I was talking to the ADT rep, she told me that they had a promotion where I can get $750 in free equipment. I was not sure if I would need it as I already had all the equipment. She then said that they were gonna send a tech out to see if they could still use the equipment I had and then they would give me an estimate. I asked whether or not I would still have to pay for the tech if I didn't want the service. She just started going through a long paragraph of corporate gobbledygook.

    I told her that I needed an answer to my question and then she again went on some corporate-speak nonsense. I fell to the floor and trying to be as respectful as I could, I asked if I could get a yes or no answer. Finally, she said that there would be no charge. ADT then moved me to the scheduling person and I told them that I was a veteran of the Navy. He said they gave veteran discounts and then put me to another person who said that they give that. What they could do was give me a free upgrade for a nice, up-to-date keypad that has the weather and everything on it. I said "okay" and they scheduled the installation.

    The tech came earlier than the four-hour window that they gave so I rushed to the place I was moving to. He was a nice guy and he knew what he was talking about. He started looking at everything. I was having my new place painted and the painter had to redo the spot where the tech took off the old keypad and put the new one six inches below where the old one was. Also, while he was setting up everything, the alarm was going off. The painters were looking at me like "Hey man, what's going on?" and I was staring at the tech like "Hey are you gonna get that or are you gonna blow our eardrums out until someone says something to you?". It was common courtesy. Even if I was attacked and I was about to blow out everyone's eardrums at a house, I would just say, “Hey, guys, it's gonna get loud here. I'm doing the test just to make sure things work.” It's not hard.

    The tech put up an old school keypad and not the digital one I was promised. I asked what was going on as I was supposed to get the upgraded fancy keypad with the weather. He then told me that was part of the upgraded package and that I got the cheapest one. I told him that I knew I got the cheapest package, but it should say on the paperwork that he has that I get a better panel than what he put in. He then said again that the better keypad came with an upgrade and that I had to get the video package where I could see video on my phone. ADT knew what package I had when I set my appointment up and they still promised something they couldn't deliver. It was a lot of bait and switch.

    There are a bunch of options on the app that are not operational. But I understand from corporate that they will be in the future. It's an ongoing process so that's pretty cool. My only suggestion would be that, if they're not operational, not to have them on the app. It gives off a false sense that it's available when it's not. But other than that, everything else is great. The technicians knew where and how to set up. I gave them what I was thinking of the way that they made it happen.

    We called them and got the touchscreen panel, a couple cameras, and motion detectors and all doors and windows, including the smoke and heat sensors. So we got out pretty well. I just couldn't have made a better decision. I love it. Their customer service team did a phenomenal job. The person they sent in was absolutely amazing. He did everything in a timely manner, got all of our cameras set up, and he was more than friendly. I don't know how to use the cameras yet. But I wish that I would have feedback like recorder and go back with them like 30 minutes of something that may have happened. Other than that, everything else is nice.

    The rep that came out talked to me about some other services and things that ADT provided. He went through a whole list and answered questions. I was under the impression that the whole system was installed with me not paying anything. So he went through the process of the cameras and I had to cancel that and just go with the most basic thing. But he was more than happy to do it. Everything went great. The system was working fine. It did what it was supposed to the first few days, and then the transformer to my keypad got broken. So I had to order a new one online and I’m waiting for that to come through.

    The person who installed ADT was prepared. He knew what he was doing and everything went smoothly. But the package that I was offered over the phone and what I was told when he came were totally different. Then I ended up paying additional 76 something out of my pocket because I was promised a camera, which I never received. I was promised all the windows will be sealed, protected, and I did not receive that either. I had to do some modifications. I had to take a couple of sensors from downstairs and put them upstairs because I was not given enough of those. I was also told that I had $2,000 worth of credits and apparently, 10 sensors and one or two motion sensors. That pretty much was that worth of credit. I was not pleased. If I knew this was going to be like this, I probably wouldn't have gone with ADT to begin with. At the time, I'm actually regretting my choice.

    Guy came out and quoted me one price upfront for 3 doors and several windows. Said I'd get $100 gift card (Oct 2020). Once installer got here, said only 2 doors on order and made me pay for 3rd. They charged me $149.66 plus $44.99 for 3 months and now every month give me a bill for $89.98 saying that it is for this month and next??? It is ridiculous. My dad has it and supposed to pay $53.99 and they bill him $176.82 a Quarter which is $58.94. They charged him to install new system and told him they would charge less per month. They ALL lie!

    Everything was okay except for a little accident. It hasn't been resolved. When the technician went in my attic, my can light fell and it caused a little hole in my ceiling. We rigged the can light up but it needs to be fixed. I noticed yesterday that it looks like it's gonna start falling again. I called corporate and they said that a manager would call me to set up a time to go out there or to get me to do an estimate. And then they would send me a form for me to fill out and submit. They installed the system on the 6th, and then I let them know on the 7th. I'm still waiting for that call. But as far as ADT's customer service, it’s great.

    The tech went through the steps, and then said he had to unplug the system and it started back up. I also got an alert saying one of the batteries were dead on the motion sensor, and he said he would come and swap it out. Other than that, it was fine. He told me how everything goes. He’s a really good guy. He explained the system and broke everything down for me.

    I like that I can arm the system from my phone. If I'm walking through, I can just type in something quick. Any way you're going in and out of the house, you can quickly arm it. I like that I am able to do those things either from my app or right there on a touchscreen keypad. I've known multiple people who have ADT and they have the old-fashioned keypad. I liked the touchscreen ones because you can see what is going on. My street is dark, so that has nothing to do with lights and stuff that goes around the cameras. But the cameras can see at nighttime.

    When I was sold my system they told me if I moved I would get to move my system at no cost. While it is true they move the service but I just found out it does require you to buy a whole new physical system. So if you put out 2000 dollars for a system, and then have to move, you will be required to buy a whole new 2000 dollar system. It is a total scam. Don't fall for it. Buy something you can easily move yourself, and pay for a service that is a 10th of the price. You will be sorry if you believe anything the company tells you.

    There are still some things with ADT that are pending. And each time I call, I don't get the person so I was getting so fed up and saying these people are not nice. I was given a name and a number. But that person had promised he was going to send somebody to come and fix something and they never came. Each time I called, nobody answered the phone. I have left a hundred messages. Nobody calls. So I said, “Okay. They don't want. All they want is my money.” When I applied, the people I talked to first were super special. I got some promises. I got their quotation. But then when the person came to install, things changed. I complained, talked to the representatives again, and they were nice. Then finally I got to get to Accounts and then they solved my problem.

    My installation was not complete. The installation is not completed by Accounts. It’s completed by the people who are supposed to complete. So those people were supposed to come in, complete and fix some other things and they didn't come back. The first day, the person really helped me quite a lot because he made me understand this system, which I appreciated. But when I was calling to say, “When can the garage opener get installed,” I could not. I am dissatisfied but I can't do anything. I get people who will call and they understand. But then I get to somebody else who's supposed to solve the problem, and then they don't do it. When I call customer service, they're really helpful but I don't get help from where it is supposed to come from.

    I had a history of trouble with our landline that was connected to a different alarm system, and I wanted to try to get rid of the landline to avoid that. While I was talking to a representative at a Verizon store about getting a box, they happened to mention that they knew a customer who had ADT and got rid of their landline, got ADT and it worked. So, I started down that path. The very first person I talked to was great. She was very informative and very good about answering my questions. The second person that I talked to was giving me cost information. I felt like they kind of went into sales mode really fast and wanted me to buy more than I wanted to buy, but I ended up at a price that I thought was reasonable that we could afford.

    The installation was scheduled very quickly. It was on a Saturday, and the guy who came here worked very well. He ran into a few problems having to do with the wiring of our old system. He worked it out, and got it all set up. It went very well. He was here for about three hours. The system that I ended up with is pretty simple. All we have is door alarms and one motion detector. I wasn’t left with any information though, just the card that said, “This is what the buttons do on your control panel.” I didn't have any information about account number. So, when I tried to fill out the form that was required for the $100 rebate on the installation, it asked for a lot of information that I didn't have.

    I would love to have the user's manual, too. I ended up calling some number I found on the internet, and they helped me set up my ADT site. Once I got into that, I was able to find a billing statement that has all the account information on it. I was able to find it online, but I thought, “Well, I was surprised I wasn't left with any paper.” I would like something a little more than just to arm it and disarm it. That was basically all the card said. I wish there was a little more information about how it worked, and what to do if you push the wrong button.

    I started looking at Ring doorbell, and just anything I could do on my own. And then, I realized that I couldn't do anything as good as I wanted to on my own.

    Not knowing what to do, and never having a security system, I just looked on Angie's List. They had a coupon that was a great offer for some of the equipment to be included for $99. So, we got $800 worth of equipment included with it, with the redeemable coupon.

    Donald, our ADT rep, did an amazing job. I would have never felt as comfortable and safe without the courtesy and care of the person who helped us. It was so wonderful with him. I just didn't know the price that would be involved. If we did not have the money to do it, I would never have been able to afford it. I had no idea it would be in the thousand dollar range. But it worked out for us because safety over money sometimes is worth it.

    I wanted to try something different than what I already had and I went with ADT. I lived in New Jersey and I wanted the security system to be installed into the home in South Carolina. When I spoke to the rep, she went over the plan and the packaging then she gave me the price breakdown. I told her it was great and she told me I'd get the keypad, the door locks, and all these features. She also said that my bill would be less than $60 a month. But when I set up the appointment, a few days before I was flying to South Carolina, the rep never showed up. So, I called and they said it was a mix-up. They wrote a wrong phone number down and it was a whole big thing that cost me an additional $600 for an additional flight. I had to change my flight and I had to get my rental car extended.

    Then, a rep got on the phone and said she'd fix it. She said she'd have somebody there tomorrow morning, which meant I had a delay and everything was pushed back. So, their rep came and said that the service rep misinformed me of the details. I showed him everything that I wrote down and he said that was right but she quoted me the wrong amount. So, I didn't get everything that I was promised over the phone. I just got the panel and the door locks. Everything else that I was promised, I wasn't able to get. They also said they were going to give me a credit and they didn't give me a credit on my account.

    The installer also told me that there's been a lot of problems with the customer service team with misquoting products and pricing. So, they may want to retrain those reps, which might help in the future. Aside from that, I was told that they're getting rid of their entire customer service team and they want to go that route because this has caused me a lot of unnecessary money. All in all, I'm very dissatisfied with ADT. I had to get the service because I had no choice as I was not going to be in that state and I was flying back to New Jersey. But when I get back in April 2nd, I'm going to cancel.
