If I could give a -5, I would! They fraudulently took money out of my banking account without my permission! Service sucked, you get the runaround anytime you call! Stay away and find someone local to provide your service! I will NEVER RECOMMEND ADT!!

My experience with ADT has been good. They were not a new business to me so I moved to a new neighborhood and stayed with them. I like them and I was familiar with them so I hadn't had any problems with them at all. They give you all the good perks that I'm looking for as a consumer and my billing is just right, so it's not like I can't afford it. They work with you if you wanna have it lower. The sales rep came to my house and answered my questions, which was how I ended up getting the service. Everything that I could afford is what I got and I'm satisfied with it. The alarm for my doors and the cameras are my favorites. I'm on the corner lot so that is probably the most important. I’ve referred ADT many times. They’re easy to work with and they’re all about customer satisfaction. If I need them, if something's going on with the system itself, they’re easy to contact and give me directions.

I was told right upfront I’d get 20% off because I go with Geico. I'm an idiot because I didn't call Geico and double-confirm this. We signed everything and when I got around to contacting Geico and updating them, I get like a 0.05% discount from Geico. That whole spiel about me getting 20% was a lie and I wasn't too happy about that. They shouldn't be saying such things like that.
Then, I felt lied to when they raised my prices. They said they sent out emails but when I first enrolled in the company, I was getting emails and messages every two minutes. Their marketing department knew what they were doing when they sent the email out, because if they had put in the subject line something that would have appeared to be more relevant and attention-garnering, they would have lost a lot of clients. But they wrote it the way they wrote it so that the average person is just not gonna click on it.
I felt like I was forced into this 3-year contract and I didn't even activate it for over a year. I was working from home so for a good year and a half, I didn't need the security system. Then, when it was activated a month ago, I locked myself out of the house and I had to break into my own house. The alarms went off but I was not messaged and the cops were not called. I didn't even receive an email about it. That really made me angry. Not only did I feel like I was locked into paying this garbage but also, they weren't actually protecting me.
Also, it’s the first time in my entire 38 years where I ever had a contract where they changed the price. The point of contracts is you get locked into a price. I didn't expect a price hike with a clause stating, “If you wanna dispute it, you have until 30 days.” I gave them my notice within 30 days and rep said they could end my service right then. But they took money out of my account again and they said I gotta pay them off, which was not what was told to me. I told the rep to read the notes to me and he couldn't do it. He said it looked like the first rep was just trying to be nice. My whole experience with ADT's entire operation is extremely dissatisfying. I'm very upset that I spent over the original estimated price for the three years and then I was locked into this contract. They got a lot of money and I got nothing in return. I feel like I was legally conned.

The ADT representative was fairly quick. However, I wish they would have explained a few things that I needed to know. Having providers in your home within the first 90 days is not a good idea. It's very distracting and you can miss a lot of things. I didn't get what I needed because of, one, the cost, and two, you don't have services after six months. The second time I called ADT for assistance, it was after six months and they said, "I'm sorry. We can't send a technician for free. We have to charge you at this point." But they bind me to a three-year contract, which is not equitable. I wasn't informed that it was going to be a three-year contract. They also need to inform people how much time they have where they can cancel services. If I had known some things, I would have canceled within a week. I'm currently unemployed and there's no way I can get out of my contract to reduce my expenses so I can alleviate some of the financial stressors.

The monitoring service I get from ADT seems to be very well done. They were able to send out a technician to troubleshoot an issue on a couple of occasions. On another occasion, they came out and installed new equipment. I like the doorbell camera a lot but I'm having a problem with my indoor camera. It goes offline frequently. I have to go and reset it every time.
I'm not crazy about the way the monthly price keeps creeping up. I also had an equipment problem and that issue went on for several days. They had to send out a technician on a couple of trips, one was to diagnose and another to come back and exchange a faulty device. I had another situation with a heat detector in my attic that gave me a trouble signal. The technician that came out said that they weren't installing the heat detectors in the attic. Evidently, it was related to the level of equipment that they were putting in the field and when I first became a customer. The technician couldn't tell me why the change or what the difference was or why they couldn't put another heat detector back in my attic.

After the guy finished installing the system, he told me what to do. He had to come back several times because it kept going off. I needed some bigger, stronger ears to go that he plugged to my system. It does well. When I call them, they help me. I had to do a whole new thing about my email and the girl helped me with it a lot.

ADT is too expensive, and when I call and talk to them, there's no empathy, understanding, or care. They raised their rates after we agreed to a price, and it's been only a few bucks, but still, in this economy, every dollar counts. It's not what I originally signed up for, and if I'm locked in for a solo contract, then they shouldn't be able to raise the rates during that time period. I should have the right to get off that contract. I also told them that I have a friend that pays ADT for $30 a month, and they didn't wanna hear about it. I asked about other companies that are around $30 a month, and they said, “We're not them, sir. We can't comment on that.”
ADT doesn't listen to their customers, and I can't understand how some people have ADT at $20 to $30 less than what I pay. They suck, and as soon as my contract is up, which is in about another five weeks, I'm going to a different company. I'm a man of my word, and I told ADT that unless they lower their prices, I'm not doing this retention to keep me back. There's nothing wrong with the system, but there are other ones that are just as good at a fraction of the price.

The reps were professional and good, but they didn't disclose all the information necessary and completely inflated the benefits of having an ADT security system on our insurance. They were upselling us the stuff. It’s also stated in the contract that if we void the contract and short it because we weren't interested in having it anymore, we’re gonna have to pay the same amount anyway. So, we were getting screwed either way. Besides that, the response was good. We had a burnt toast, and we had a quick response. We were happy with that.

When I initially got ADT, they were the only ones in our area, then other companies came and weren't necessarily as good as they are now. I ended up sticking with ADT only because, at the time, if I had issues, they would send the serviceperson out to the house. Now, they want people to look online, more or less, and see if they can fix it themselves, and when they send the third party reps out, it's annoying because, often, they don't know what they're doing. They take a lot of time. I had an issue with ADT because they had a third party rep come out to fix my system. They took the system off and left without making sure that it was working, and somebody else had to come back, then they tried to tell me, "Well, we can't operate this system that you have."
They wanted me to update to a different system, and I had to argue with them and tell them, "No." The system was working before that repairperson came out. I had issues with the cameras connecting, so I shouldn't have to update. They had a bunch of excuses, and I've not really liked ADT since then. Even right now, I have an issue with my system that they're not trying to come out here to work. They want me to do it. They told me to look online, go into the MyADT app and watch the videos. I'm not very happy with them at the moment. I never truly was after the first incident with the third party person coming out.

We've had our ADT security system for a number of years and we've always been pleased with the service that we've had. Their reps have always been cooperative and courteous. We've called when we've had an issue, and they've always responded. The system meets our needs. We're comfortable that when we leave the house for any extended period of time, the alarm is on, and we're good about doing that. We're conscientious about using the alarm system.

ADT is easy to use. I like it because of the ability to have notifications of my doors opening. If I get some kind of readings or alarms that give me a call that I'm unfamiliar with, I'm able to call them and get an answer and get a response.

It's not that hard to get ahold of ADT's customer service. We did have a problem with them. We couldn't alarm our system on the thing. We couldn't arm it because of the Wi-Fi. We would arm it and then it would beep and beep, and it never worked. So, we called and talked to this girl on the phone. I've got it on my phone where I can arm and disarm. They tried everything, but the Wi-Fi just wasn't working. I did get it to where I like it better on my phone because they had it on there and it took it off. So, I can arm it when I'm leaving and not when I come back to open the door. Other than that, I'm satisfied with my system. It's been good. When we first had it, the alarm went off and it said there was a cracked window. That's one of the features I really like. It will be good if somebody breaks in or if there was a defect.

The scummiest company I have ever dealt with. They locked us into a 2 year contract without our consent, telling us we couldn't cancel because of it. (They lied to us about the contract we were signing and we didn't read it thoroughly enough at the time). After 3 and half years and many attempts to cancel my account, I finally forced them to close my account by witholding payment. They immediately sent me to collections. DO NOT USE ADT!!!! THEY ARE THE SCUM OF THE EARTH!!!

They were trying to install one of the camera plug-ins behind the dishwasher and I had them come back and move that. Other than that, I'm very satisfied with the system. I like the remote access and being able to do it from my phone. I like the cameras and being able to monitor that. I've had a camera go offline and the representative tried to resolve it but it couldn't be done. Someone had to come to the house, delete something and reset it. ADT is dependable. They're punctual with whatever needs to be done.

I love the system. It's great. The technicians thoroughly explained everything. When we had our packages picked out, the guy who came said, "Your house is gonna look like a prison with these cameras. You need to put dome cameras up," so he changed some things. When you live out in the country, a dome camera is not very good because of the bugs and it's always dirty. You have to clean it every day. I contacted ADT and asked them if they could switch back and give me what I originally ordered. It took me two months to get that. I ended up calling the district manager but the district manager didn't call me back. I called a different district manager and they eventually resolved it.
However, ADT has too many hidden fees. I'm not happy with it at all. I got rid of my home phone and my other alarm system. Those two bills equaled out to what I was gonna pay ADT. I was told my bill would be around $50 a month for monitoring. I did not realize that they have a Quality Service Plan attached to that, and I'm paying $60 a month for that. I'm paying 110 right now. They said I signed the Quality Service Plan and I have to keep it for three years. It was in that contract, but you think it's a one-page contract 'cause they have you sign on the first page, not the last page. I've written letters and talked to so many people. Trying to get ahold of a real person at ADT takes forever. Then when you talk to one person and they transfer you, you tell them the story again. The customer service is lacking.

If people want ADT's service, they pay for it, but the prices are not as good as I think it could be. The security system is about an 8 and it's fine. The website is cumbersome but the information is there. It just takes some time to get through it.

I contacted ADT ON Sunday April 14th due to my system not working, at that time I was scheduled for a service appointment for April 18th between 1pm - 5pm. I took the ENTIRE DAY OFF OF WORK. To be home and NO ONE SHOWED UP! The tech “Shawn” noted he tried to reach me, and left me a voicemail. I have No missed calls or voicemails from anyone! When I call I’m told I can’t be scheduled until May for services, this is unacceptable. I have NO WAY TO USE A SECURITY SYSTEM IN MY HOME! MY SYSTEM DOESN'T WORK!

ADT is expensive, but they do a good job. So far, everything has been good. I like that they can talk through the speaker. If I accidentally sent off the alarm, I don't have to answer a phone. They can call me directly through the speaker. Recently, I called to get my bill lowered and they did that. They were very cooperative because I've been a loyal customer. Also, I had their tech come out and they checked out something. They were very kind and did everything correctly.

We had a system before that was all hardwired, so there were wires in the windows and the doors. We switched to ADT and it was much easier. There was an installation team that installed it. I changed a couple of sensors on the windows. We had some windows replaced and I changed the sensors myself. Then we had a couple of sensors that failed, and they sent me new ones, and I put it in myself. They programmed them. It was done all over the phone, and it was done very easily. We're perfectly satisfied with the features of our system. It's just we have sensors that are failing after three years, and I was told they should last 10.

I'm not very happy with ADT because we don't even know how to use it. I tried to get the price lowered and they lied to me and said, “Oh, we're gonna lower it.” It was only about $9, and it stayed lower for a little while, and then it went up again. So, they tricked me. They wanted to get me off the phone. We're an older couple, and we just don't know how to use this thing. When they came over the first time, they were just set to put it in, and we were trying to ask questions, and so we went ahead and got caught up in it. But now we're pissed because I have repeatedly tried to get out of the contract. They suck. They trap you in. They won't let you out. If it's a good product, it shouldn’t need to have some long contract. Our thing is five years old. We've got just two more years, and we still don't know how to use it.
I've had them come over twice, but it's overwhelming. I've been depressed where I don't wanna go through it again, but I'm gonna have to have them come over again because they won't let us out. I hate them. They got my payments to where we're paying two different things. One is for the thing that's stuck on the wall and the other thing is for the monthly doing of it. Why does it have to be two different payments to do two different places?

We had a false alarm about a year ago and that was the only time we've really had any contact since we signed up with ADT. They called to see if there was an issue and there wasn't. My system seems to work as intended. It's a fairly good deterrent. The best thing is being able to check the status of the alarm in the various doors or windows when you're away from home. Being able to do that remotely is always a good thing. Also, the price has been very stable.

ADT had a very professional sales rep. He knew his business backwards and forwards. I signed up with ADT because he knew what he was doing. The installation team was very thorough. They also knew their business and they were very professional. I was very pleased with them. I love ADT's price. I had a couple of counter offers, and ADT was very competitive.

I'm very happy with my service. The customer service is very nice and it's easy to get in touch with them. I had to call two times and both times, they right away helped me solve my problem. Also, I love all the features that I have. Plus I have all the cameras as well.

Every time I call for help or I need advice or there's an alarm, ADT is right there. It's within 15 seconds of the alarm going off that my phone rings. They are tremendous. Years ago, I had a bad experience because the equipment was so old that it couldn't be serviced. ADT was giving out free installations, but they wanted to charge me 300-some odd dollars to come out here and put new equipment in. But if I was a new customer, they would have come out and did it for free. So what I did was I canceled it and I went to Brinks and Brinks came in and installed all-new stuff for me. In fact, the equipment still has Brinks written on it. Then, ADT bought Brinks. So, I was back to ADT again. I didn't really lose anything but for a while, ADT lost a customer because of a local manager that didn't do what he was supposed to do.
I wouldn't have left ADT except for the reason that the local manager would not give me new equipment. But later on, I spoke to ADT and explained it to them and they said that I should have called the main office. They would have replaced the equipment. It was just the local guy that was a real jerk. My ADT system is very good. It's cellular now, so I don't have to worry about them cutting the phone lines. It takes care of itself. When the power goes off, it still works. I turn it on every night before I go to bed and I feel much safer because of it. I'm very pleased with them. I recommend them. I tell people, "Get one of these. It's worth it. They'll put it in for you for nothing or $99 and it's a lifesaver." I wouldn't be without it.

MY ADT system is doing its job. I've only had one experience where I tripped the alarm myself and I got an automated phone call saying that they detected it and detected that I ended it by putting in my code. It's difficult to get ahold of ADT because you have to go through five prompts to finally get a live person to talk to, and that kind of angered me a bit.

The sales rep was very reassuring in the fact that if we had any issues, he would be more than happy to personally come take care of anything. Also, the installers were very personable and easy to get along with. But I had a question one time and I tried to use the chat room option that they have online to ask those questions and that was not successful at all. I ended up calling the sales rep and he personally took care of the issue that I had. Other than that, I know the system is working because I have set it off by accident several times. I'm able to disarm it fairly quickly but I have done it one time where they had to call me because I couldn't get it turned off quick enough. The security is well worth the amount that I paid for.

Some of the ADT reps were satisfactory. Some of them were not. I ran out of batteries for the motion detector. They’ve changed style and type since then. They sent me the wrong batteries because they sent me one for a newer model, and in fact, I have an older model and they don't stock them anymore, so I had to go and buy it at the battery center. After I was billed $13 for it, and then had to call them up and tell them that, the guy I dealt with told me I wouldn't be billed for it because it was the wrong battery. It did me no good. It would cost them more to have it shipped back than it would to just let me have the battery that doesn't fit.

I'm not happy with ADT because when I first had my service upgraded, I didn't realize I was gonna be paying so much. I'm just living on a fixed income, and now these payments put me in a bind. I do love the service. I've been with ADT since I had my home. When I bought the home, it had a security system in it but it was old. Then I had it upgraded because I wanted the camera outside, which I didn't have. I did have the smoke detector. They just recently upgraded, and I do like the equipment. It’s just the price went up. Before, I was paying 25. It went up to 142. They didn't tell me that before I did an upgrade.
I called the other day after they posted my bill online, and I said, “What's going on? Why did my bill get raised?” They said my discount expired. I said, “What? Well, how can I get out of this?” They said, “Well, you have to just buy the contract out.” I don't wanna pay 400 some dollars. I've been with them since 2002 and it really upsets me. Everybody is raising everything. With the break-in and everything, I don't wanna get rid of ADT because I've been with them forever and I'm satisfied with the service. I feel confident when I go out of town.
They would give me a discount, and I appreciate that because it helped me. I could skip a month and then I can start again the next month. That really helped me a lot. That way, I didn't lose my service. They said, “You know what? We don't want you to lose your service.” I didn't wanna lose it either because the minute you don't have it, that's when somebody would break in your house. I would recommend ADT. Their product is excellent.

I have ADT at three of my locations and at my house. My ADT Home Security service is horrible. It hasn't worked in years. I pay 30 bucks a month for nothing. I tried to cancel them about a year and a half ago. They came and fixed something, but it never worked. They did something to the main panel, but the panel in our bedroom never worked. So, we got them unplugged now. They're worthless. On the commercial side of things, they've been worthless as well. I've tried to get all three of my locations together on Control and I only see two. One of my partners only sees one. Crazy. I don't have access to one and all I did was ask them to put them together. I thought that was a simple request. Don't use ADT.

I've had ADT for a long time. I've had it installed for over 15 years. We had it up upgraded about three years ago. When the they came out, they installed a doorbell camera. And then two weeks later, we found out that they switched the doorbell cameras over to the Nest cameras. We didn't care very much for the doorbell camera and we asked if there is any way we could change it out to the upgraded Nest camera? They said no. We're kind of upset that they installed this one. And then come to find out that they're not using the SkyBell, and they're starting to use the Nest one. We were hoping to be able to switch out to the Nest one because of the grain quality and the quality of the picture. We weren't very happy with it. They pretty much said, "No, you would have to buy a whole new doorbell camera."

ADT’s price is a little bit higher than other products. There should probably be more incentives as far as newer products that are available to customers that have been with them for a while. One thing I've noticed is that we get a lot of ghost ADT people. People say they’re calling from ADT or they’re a tech. I would have to turn around and send that to someone at the office because these are people who are trying to scam me. But that comes also from teaching and learning from ADT because they say this is not the right person or that they don't usually reach out to us.

ADT has been really good on the customer service any time I've ever had an issue. I would call them, they would take care of it. Their techs have been good. I only had one guy one time that gave me an issue. I'm very satisfied with the features that are included in my package.

ADT sent a crew up here from San Antonio, and all they brought with them were wireless cameras. Then they figured out that my Wi-Fi wasn't strong enough. I said, “You put up the other kind of cameras in hardwire, just hardwire.” They said, “Well, we didn't bring any other kind of camera.” I said, “It sound to me like you made a trip from San Antonio here for nothing then.” So, they took off. A week or so later, they showed up again. It was on a Friday. One of the guys working on it is a young guy, and I could tell he was only interested in a paycheck. I told him, “We need to get a wire underneath the house.” He went underneath the house once before lunch.
After lunch, he went to crawl underneath the house again, and I don't think he even went underneath there because he came over to me where I was at and he said, “Man, I can't go underneath the house.” I said, “Why? What's the matter?” And then he said, “I was just fixing crawling underneath there, and I looked down there. There was a big old diamondback rattlesnake right there by that opening.” I said, “Are you sure?” “Yeah.” So, I called someone and they crawled underneath there. They said, “No. Ain’t no snake underneath there.” I said, “I crawled all underneath that house everywhere. Didn't see no snakes.”
It was 20 minutes after he said he did. So, I told him, “You go right in." It was like 2 o'clock in the afternoon on a Friday, and a check was waiting on him. He knew he was gonna be here until about 6:00. What happened was he made up this deal about a snake being there so he could go home early. I said, “Okay. I’m tired. Why can't y'all get it all right?” So, they sent another guy out. This guy was the best one, but he was too overweight. It's not his fault, though. He was a really nice fellow, smart, knows his work, and did a really good job. He was working on something. I have one camera put on out in my shop. Then we had to pull a wire. We already had a conduit run. So, we pulled out. A wire was in it, which was a telephone line and I'm not gonna need that anymore to go with this. So, he did and he did it all by himself. He was hardworking.
He said, “Where's your monitor screen?” I said, “Oh, I don't understand.” He said, “Well, you must have a screen where I can hook it up to for a monitor.” So, he said, “You go to Walmart and get one.” I said, “Well, why didn't they tell me this? I’d already had it here.” To me, that's a click against ADT. They never told me anything like that. If I had to do it all over again, I would look for somebody else because it was like three times that they had to come by here. The first crew could have come by with the right stuff. They drove that far, and then they were under the assumption that I have a strong Wi-Fi. In this part of the country, nobody does.

I lived in Alaska and we had ADT. We had wonderful service all the time. If we had any situation at all, they were right there. We're clear out of town, so that was really good. However, If you have to have anything done to your system now, they charge you to come out. They have a big enough clientele that when these guys are out selling things, they could stop by and make calls on the people that have had the coverage for years. About two years ago, I got the warning that the batteries were bad. I called them and told them, and they sent me the batteries. The batteries are still in the bag hanging on the wall, and I haven't had a warning that the batteries are bad so I wonder how accurate the equipment is. They could contact their customers once every two years and make a house call to make sure everything's working okay. But they don't.

I can't hear the alarm. It'll say front door but if somebody was coming to my house, I wouldn't hear it. I let ADT know but they haven't responded. I don't know how to make the volume come up. Also, they don't tell you they have two size monitors. The monitor that the installer brought me was very small. I ended up getting the bigger monitor but I had to pay for that. It's trickery to me. They ought to be upfront.

I like ADT. I have alarms and sensors in the house on all my windows and doors. When my windows and doors are open, I know which one it is and I also know if someone's entering or leaving. I also have the motion detector. I can't see all over the house but at least if something is open, I know where it's coming from. I have the breakage feature as well so if a window is shaking or even cracked, it's gonna tell me somebody is trying to do something. Even if I drop something and the room shakes or it shakes a window, it's gonna say window breakage, even though it isn't. It lets me know it works.
The only problem I have is when I call them and say, “I need a battery and would like a tech to come out and replace it for me.” They would tell me they could send it in the mail but that's not what I'm choosing to do. They shouldn't try to persuade me to do something they want me to do when I'm telling them what I want. I know there’s gonna be a fee, but it is what I want them to do.

We have had a rocky course with ADT. We had called multiple times, and they kept saying the issue was our fault because we didn't have a strong enough Wi-Fi and we needed to buy other equipment. It quits working for a couple hours then it starts back in again. They keep saying it's because our router is too far away, but it's almost on the same level as the front driveway camera and none of our other cameras are having any problems with it. We went through seven months of having problems before they finally had a technician go in and look at it. We asked multiple times to have someone come out. We wanted them to come out and change the camera, but they said it would take over a month and they didn't have anybody locally that could come. Had I known that, I never would have bought a system that doesn't have anybody locally that could come.
They had someone set up but that person called in sick. They didn't reschedule another appointment and we had to wait a month for that. After five calls in a few days, we got a hold of a technician who found out that we had the wrong software and they had to upgrade the software. After that, we've been having minimal problems with it. The other day, we had an issue and I unplugged one of our Canary cameras. That seemed to help take care of it.
ADT is expensive for the amount of service they provide. The cost should have good service included, but I don't think we've had good service. I'm not at all pleased with the service, and we quit once before because we had problems with it when we had a different system. They weren't monitoring it for almost a year when we found out about it but they've been charging us. When the system works, it works. But when it doesn't, they're no help. When we call and tell them it's not working, they tell us we need to get something to boost our service. They told us it was fine when they sold it to us and installed it. But they came back telling us that it wasn't and something else was wrong. I don't think they're very good at solving the issues or willing to solve the issues. They just wanna blame it on everybody else.

The young man who installed our ADT was named Brandon and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. He took his time and explained everything very well. The system is very functional and we haven't had any issues with it. I also like the remote access. We feel very secure.

The front and back door ring bells of our ADT don't work. They said, “We can't do anything for you unless you're standing by the panel.” I don't like their attitude during this process. I also don't like the fact that I'm paying for a service I can't use. I can't wait till the service is up, and I'll never use them again.

On our ADT little thing, it says it's connected to the internet, but our cameras aren't working. But the app works. The overall quality is okay. I wasn't there when they installed it and I didn't want it installed and with the cameras. My wife was there and they made it under the impression that it was gonna be a trial and it wasn't a trial. I tried to get it to where we could get it refunded, but she signed the contract. I was trying to get out of it but you have to pay it. So, it was a bad deal. But, it is what it is.

We moved here two months ago and I've had ADT since then. I'm happy with their service and it's priced reasonably. In New Mexico, we had them for years. They answered all the questions that I had. I have peace of mind with ADT. I used to work for US Protection & Investigation so I know quite a bit about burglaries. Also, ADT is who law enforcement people that I talked to here in Ardmore said they have.

The ADT system is fine but their customer service is atrocious. You get a rep offshore that goes through the same troubleshooting steps, even though they don't apply to you, and they don't solve your problem. It took me six phone calls to get someone onshore on the phone to be able to try to get a technician to come to my house.

The ADT rep I worked with was professional. The installers were also great, very knowledgeable and nice. However, we tried to log in, but we forgot our safe word. It was in a notebook and it got lost. So we called customer service to fix it because we lost the paper that had our word on it. And they said they couldn't do anything until we had the word. They were gonna send us a piece of mail with instructions on how to reset it. They couldn't do anything over the phone. But they never did. The app is the only way we can get it to work now. The app is easy and very simple to use. We just shut it off. Because if it goes off and we're not there in time, we don't have that word to keep the cops from coming.

We had one of ADT's security experts come out to our home after we had people shot at our home. They looked around our property to see exactly what we needed at no extra cost. That worked out better because a few months later, our home got shot at again. From the security expert's specialization of where to put the product and what type of product to have, they caught the perpetrators in less than 24 hours. They got pictures of them through a heavy downpour and to the car. If it wasn't for ADT, we would still be wondering this last time who did what. Even the police were amazed.
If you do what you're supposed to do, ADT is the best company ever. It's well worth the money. I could be at my daughter's house and if anything's moving around my house that's not supposed to be moving, it tells me. If my door stays open one second too long, it tells me something's going on. We have the right equipment and we feel secure with it. As matter of fact, it dings so much. My husband has put a curfew on everybody so the door doesn't open and close all night long.

The guy who did the installation was helpful. He thoroughly explained where he was putting triggers and why he was putting triggers in certain places. ADT is responsive and the app is easy and convenient to use if you need to. Occasionally though, it takes a very long time to load as far as giving me the option to turn the alarm off from outside the house. I've forgotten the front door key and had to use the back door key, and that one triggers the alarm automatically instead of the delayed response. The app took a minute instead of five seconds.

There are bumps whenever the alarm goes off and I have trouble turning it off in the middle of the night. But my experience with their customer service has been fine. It's also easy to get in touch with them.

I like the system. It makes us feel safe being home. Having little kids, I like how the system tells you which doors or windows are open and when they're opened. Also, the reps have been good to help with questions or let me know what is offered.

Right before I went on a deployment, the alarm system was messed up. My wife and kid were at the house but ADT wouldn't fix it. When I got back home, I called them again three times about the issue. They finally got me a virtual tech and got the system somewhat fixed but still not to what we were looking for. Within three months, I got a text message saying that if I did an upgrade, I would receive a free doorbell camera. I did the scheduling process. I just had knee surgery and moved my PT date a day so I could make that appointment time to meet the technician at the house.
At that time, the technician never showed. I never received a phone call or an email. I called ADT and after an hour of going through why I didn't get a technician, they said I wasn't on the list and that I should never have gotten the text message. I explained to them that me receiving that text message was not my fault. I didn't opt into that text message, I received it. When I scheduled it, I should have gotten a notification then to tell me I was not eligible. Going through with them, they wouldn't give me the doorbell. I said, "Since I can't get the doorbell but moved my schedule around, I'd like it comped into at least half the amount of the doorbell." They told me no and that there was nothing they could do. I tried talking to a manager and I talked to the upgrade department, customer service, some technicians, but they wouldn't get it fixed.
I had a woman on the phone on Friday and she was trying to fix it. She told me she got it fixed. I tried it Friday evening, but it never got fixed. The problem we're having is that if you hit Away, it'd still stay in Stay mode. I used to have the old ADT system. If I hit Stay, it is automatically armed. If I hit Away, it gave me 30 seconds to a minute to get out the door. It was the same thing when I was coming in while it was in Away mode. This time, it's doing the same thing on both. It was doing Away mode for both so I changed it but they said I need to put it in Stay mode and it'd fix the problem. It'd do Away in Away and Stay in Stay. I did that and it did Stay. Now, I can't go in the house after I leave without it tripping every alarm and sending me critical notifications to my phone. I have to turn it on on my app when I leave instead of hitting Away mode and just walking out the door.
The touchscreen digital system should have more components to the authorized manager. If I wanna go in there and try to tinker with the system, it should give me more freedom to adjust to my system as I see fit. When the guy that came out four years ago placed all my glass breakers around and we got the big siren alarm, I wish I'd had a little more information behind it. He put the glass break right beside the siren so when you open the door, it kicks that siren on. When it kicks that siren on, it kicks that glass breaker on. Now, I have to put my code in twice to cancel both alarms.
I've been with ADT for 4 years. My family's been with ADT since I've been alive. I like ADT for the monitoring of smoke or carbon. The door sensors work fine and the glass break is good. I got a two-year-old who dropped a broom right underneath it, and it thought a glass broke. The warm wasn't even set, but it still kicked it off like somebody broke through the window. That was good. I like the glass break equipment instead of having a sensor on all the windows. On the window monitors, if somebody could pick that window lock and doesn't break through the glass, I wouldn't know.
The system does a good job and I've never had an issue with the system not going off but it's the customer service I'm having a problem with. I've had one female that was very helpful. When they tried fixing it the first time, she apologized for the mess up when they put it in complete Stay mode. She comped me three months. But over the past year of experiences that my wife and I talked about, we're gonna cancel. We paid our equipment off, we never missed a payment, but we can't seem to get help and we're getting promised items that we're not receiving.

I'm gonna cancel because my camera only picks up certain activities. What am I paying for if the camera is not documenting what's going on? Yesterday, I was standing outside and flagging my hand in front of the sensor of the doorbell and it did nothing. At this point, ADT is too expensive. I had an over-the-phone thing done last year when the camera went offline, but the last time I had any contact with ADT physically was last October when I had an incident where someone was pounding on my door. I called ADT to find out if they had backup footage and they said, "No." When the representative was looking in the system, he said, "But your WiFi is fine." He couldn't even tell me why the camera wasn't picking up the activities.

We had some technical difficulties at first with alarms going off, but ADT got it all worked out in six months. The problem turned out to be caused by bad sensors which wound up to be too sensitive. They replaced all the sensors and I never got charged for anything. As far as them coming back out and dealing with everything that needed to be dealt with, I was pretty impressed. Also, the longer you stay with them, the price goes down. Plus, it's nice to be able to use the app to turn the alarms off and on when I'm at work. Having ADT is better than leaving your house alone. I can come to work and not fear something's going to happen to my stuff.

I don't like ADT. There are too many problems. My cameras kept freezing, buffering and timing out whenever I'm talking through the cameras with my children. The cameras kept going out and losing signal. At one point in time, the alarm also kept getting set off no matter how many times I put my code in. I don't mind the cost, but the quality sucks.

I recommend ADT to people. They say, "Oh, they're a little more..." I say, "It's worth it." I've had ADT for 10 years and have no complaints. When I have a problem, they try to do it remotely. If it can't be done remotely, they send a tech as soon as possible. One time I had an issue with my camera and they walked me through it remotely. I told them, "The camera is no good." After a few years, they wear out, so they wound up sending a technician and he had to verify it. They replaced the camera and I didn't have to pay anything. That's part of my service plan.

The system is working fine and I feel safer. For what I've got for the windows and doors, and then one camera, I'm paying $80 and it's a little much, but I don't care. ADT does a good job. They do what they say and monitor, and if the alarm goes off and I don't get it, they're right here. They've always responded. Overall, I'm pleased with ADT, but there needs to be more upgrades to the system without having to take out another update and add more money.

We love ADT and they have been wonderful to us. But the cameras every now and then go out, so we have to call in and get them reset. Their reps have been good and easy to get in touch with. But some of them have a very heavy accent. Also, people can't recognize which button to push for the doorbell and which button to push for the camera in the front. They're both a little round and people will push the lenses and think it's ringing the doorbell.

I'm having trouble with the alarm system, and it takes too long to get through to people. Plus, every time I call, ADT always tells me they don't wanna come out and fix something. When we do over the phone, the alarm doesn't work good, and I gotta keep troubleshooting it.

Right now, I'm very dissatisfied with ADT. For the service that I'm getting, the cost is too high. I'm paying $42 a month, and I don't feel like I'm getting anything. I don't like that I don't get customer service at my house anymore. When one of my things fell off my door to the outside, they sent me a container of glue. They said that was their way of doing it now. They don't come out to the house. I like to pay for the service for them to come out and put new batteries in if they need to be replaced or when I have a problem with one of the sensors, for them to rehook it up. I thought about canceling ADT again because I'm not using the system at all because it’s gets so aggravating when it goes off in the middle of the night, and I can't deprogram it, and my call to them is, “Okay. We'll just do bypass.” A couple of times, I've tried to do it and it didn't work. It's working now, so I have it on bypass and I don't use it.

We reached out to ADT to get the monitoring, and our experience has been straightforward because we don't ever have any problems. Everything works fine, and if we have a false alarm, they're quick to contact us and check if the alarm is real or false. They do a good job on that.

My experience with ADT has been a bad one. We had a fire a year and a half ago, and ADT did nothing in consideration of that. I wanted to put the contract in suspension and then re-up when the property had electricity, but they refused to do so. They are charging me $59 every month because of that contract. I will never do that again. They're a company that's too big for its britches. I spent hours on the phone trying to get through to their different components to arrange this. I keep getting emails and text messages like they still think I've got a house there, and there isn't. So, I am just ignoring them. I suspect we'll be in court one day when they decide I owe them more money. I can't turn in the equipment since it was burned.

I can't wait for my three-year contract to end because ADT is terrible. The attitude and demeanor of the reps is fine. It's just it's very difficult to get ahold of somebody. I had requested new window stickers and they ordered them three times, the wrong ones. Finally, someone had to come out and they couldn't install them with what they had. They had to come back. I've had a terrible experience with service from ADT. But it works. We had it go off accidentally and they called me right away. The response when the alarm goes off has been good. It's just customer service.

My recent experience with ADT was very favorable. One is the person whom I spoke to over the phone was very helpful in trying to isolate the problem and help resolve it. Secondly, the service tech who came out to my house spent a good bit of time and was able to successfully resolve the problem. We've been using ADT ever since we've lived in this home. It seems to do the job and when we have an occasional problem, they are prompt to try to get that resolved for me.

My experience with the ADT reps was very good. I was having a problem with my system going off when I had it for Stay. It would go off immediately when I opened the door instead of giving me the time. They informed me how to make it go off after a selected time after a time. They walked me through that. I’m satisfied with ADT. But I wish I didn’t have to get a new system to be able to alarm it on my phone.

We seem to be satisfied with ADT. But our system is old. One of the things they could do better at is monitoring the systems and making sure they're updated with the latest technology. It also seems a bit pricey, but how can you put a price on your safety and peace of mind?

I hate ADT. They're full of crap. I've had it since 2014. Sometimes the panel box will continue to beep. It's malfunctioning. It also takes you all day to speak with a live person. You have issues with your equipment, they give you the phone to talk to and you gotta set up an appointment. Then when somebody comes out, they charge you for coming out to fix their equipment.

We have Arlo cameras and we also have ADT cameras. Somebody tried to break into my car, and the ADT cameras never picked up the motion detection. But the Arlo ones did, so that's a big hit against ADT. Then the unit itself would start beeping, like it would lose connection. They tried multiple times to fix it and they finally got that fixed. It's flukey and not reliable. Right now, our front camera is not catching any motion detection. And calling the hotline is such a pain that I've avoided it. Half the time, you can't understand the people on the other end of the phone. I've done it via chat, and sometimes, it's frustrating. But I need to call the hotline for them to try to figure out why the front camera is not picking up motion.

I called ADT and someone spoke to me and gave me three options. I chose a simple way. I tried to call a couple of days ago because my panel battery is dead. They said, “You can change the battery. I will order for you,” and I can pay for the battery. That's fine. But I asked if I go to the next plan for there's a doorbell camera. He said, “You have to pay $200. And the guy will come and set up for you.” I said, “Normally, they just to put it in there and I don't know you guys charging. I really don't know.” That's why I didn't know that, but they have options. When we called, they said, “You can call any time. You can upgrade if you need the panel at the door and anybody at the door, or you can see inside the panel who’s there, so you can upgrade that.”

ADT was already in the home that I had purchased. The system was already in place so I continued with it. But then I had to have it all updated. So, I wound up buying all brand-new equipment. I felt like I was stuck because I already gotten into a contract with them. Also, it took them about three weeks to even get my service up and running after everything was installed.
For the installation, the first guy took all day and hours and hours, and he kept telling me I needed this and that, and I had to purchase this and that. He was horrible. The second guy came along and he had better customer service. He indicated that the stuff was already purchased, so he couldn't take it away. But he didn't feel that I needed all of that. So, that's what I'm going through with ADT right now. Then I found out that they make their money based on commission. So, for much stuff that the first guy added on, he was gonna get a bigger commission. They didn't even tell us how the system works. So now, I don't even know what my bill is. I'm waiting to get a bill from them to see exactly what I'm paying for because nobody seems to know. He did such a bad job inputting the information that we didn't know what to do. I'm all the way up to $100 a month for the service package when I was supposed to be at $59.

I've cut down the service to the bare minimum because my husband had dementia for the last three years of his life and he was forever opening the door when the alarm was on. But ADT didn't even bother to call to check. So I'm not really impressed with their service. They've cut my bill down from around 80 dollars a month to 40. I'm in the process of selling my house, so I'll be doing away with ADT after the sale. Their service sucks.

ADT is good. But to get in touch with customer service is very difficult because I go by phone and I don't go online. At the beginning of this year, I tried to get in touch with an ADT person in regards to my bill and it was very, very difficult. When they finally answered and I told them of my situation, they said, "Hold on for this person." After a while, the person came on and I had to say the same thing over again. Then she said, "Hold on," and they put me on to three different people and then I had to tell them about the same problem.

I called ADT last evening because we had a power outage and my system had to be rebooted. The technician who picked up the call walked me through it and was able to get the ADT back online. He was very nice and very helpful. When when we've had instances when someone didn't turn the alarm off on a timely basis, I don't get the phone call. Maybe because the system is turned off quickly, so they would not need to get in touch with us. But I could always call ADT directly to find out what their response time is before they contact me just to make sure that there was nothing going on.

The salesperson was very nice and pretty much laid out what was going to happen. Then the tech came in, installed the system, and was very knowledgeable and willing to help. For what the system is set up to do, it's fine. It's doing what we asked it to. But as far as can we see who's at the door at the time? None of this is set up. Also, I'll get a message about the back door and the system rings but there's no reason for it. Then I'll call the house and talk to my wife and she says, “Oh, I don't know. There's nothing back there.” But there's usually some way of verifying why it rang so I don't pay too much attention to it.

There are points where people could use the system, but it's expensive and it's gotta be worth it. If you are anxious about the safety of your neighborhood and your home, that might be a decent trade-off for you. But you have to think about it. I just don't think it was the right trade-off for us. Somebody offered us a discount in the beginning, which is why we opted to get the system. As it turned out, this neighborhood is incredibly safe and we probably didn't need it, and it was a huge expense that we didn't need. We had ADT in our past house, too, and it was as expensive and not that helpful. The other problem was with that other system, we have four cats and the cats would trigger the system periodically. So, it was more of a problem that the cats would trigger it than assailants getting into our house. And that was a much less safe neighborhood.
The customer service and the apps were fine. They are very anxious with their notifications, but that's a good thing with a safety sort of thing. But it was the same deal with this new system. We had reassurances that there would be no false triggering. There's a sensor on the window that every once in a while would go crazy. And if we have the alarm set, that would trigger it. The cats have also triggered it at least once again. So, it's false alarms and more trouble than it's worth. The phone call from ADT at work, if I don't pick up for that phone call and they call the police and the police came, I only get so many times before I start getting charged.

Ralph was my sales guy and he was fine, but there were a couple of miscommunications with the whole doorbell thing and what I would have to pay. I've had to go through a couple of different doorbell cameras because they weren't great. It's annoying to me that I have to pay Google Nest an $8 fee a month just to be able to see my videos when I already pay ADT almost 68 bucks a month for all my services, plus the doorbell that I had to purchase. When I wanted to get rid of ADT, I couldn't because they said I was still under contract. Overall, I'm somewhat satisfied with the service package that I have. But I could have it doing more, but I don't really know all the other features that could be offered. All I ever do is just set my alarm and disarm it.
There was one particular instance with the garage door opener where whoever set it up initially had all the credentials go to their phone that they were doing set up off of. So we didn't have the original credentials. It was a pain in the butt to get it straightened out. But the guy that was there did a good job and after 3 hours, he figured out how I could get my account back.

I was considering dropping ADT because the technology had not advanced, and I didn't feel I was getting my money's worth. I've been with them a long time and the cameras were outdated. So, they updated what I needed to have updated, and I'm happy now. I had a bad experience, and when I called the customer service initially, it was coming from Indonesia and that really pissed me off. There was a big language barrier. The repairs went very well, though. They really haven't upgraded the camera system and they wanted a lot of money to do so. They put in a different camera system, so what I really rely on them for is fire protection. They'll notify the fire department if your smoke alarms go off. One of the biggest things about ADT is their smoke detection.

ADT was very helpful on the phone. They have been responsive if there was a problem at our house. The system is functional. It's a little difficult to understand at first. But after having it for 11 years, we're used to it. It's easy to sign in and out. It's expensive to install, but it's very reliable. I feel very secure.

I've called ADT to see about renewing or reducing. When I originally signed up, they said my monthly thing is almost $50 and it was because of the equipment, which I get, but it's more than two years now that I don't have a contract and they couldn't do anything on the price. So, I keep the service, but I'm not happy with it.

I'm totally satisfied with ADT. Their reps have actually been very friendly. I called to get rid of it because I was like, "I'm trying to cut back on bills. I'm not going nowhere right now and there's always somebody. I don't need no alarm." They gave me a discount to keep it. Initially, when I moved in Troy, I needed a system to make sure that my father could beep so that I know if he tried to access the doors. I got ADT. ADT is really reliable. I have not had any issues. And when something did go on or when at least they were made aware of it, they reached out to me. I didn't even have to call them.
As far as some of the features, when I open the door, it lets me know which door is opening. We have the smoke detector, too. My father dealt with dementia, so we were trying to make sure that he felt safe and also that I know he was safe. At nighttime, he would sometimes try to wander. The system has been fine. My daughter went to sleep while boiling the egg and the alarm went off and called me. It's been great for me in the the capacity that I needed it for.

The installers knew what they were doing. They were in, out, and on time. Even when I sold the other house and I moved to this house, it was easy. Kept the other service on until I sold it. As soon as I bought this one, they were here the next day and had me all hooked up. However, I had a malfunctioning smoke detector and I was on the phone for an hour. The guy was in India based on his accent. He had me running up and down the stairs checking this and that. I'm 74 years old. I can't go up and down the stairs.
I determined what the problem was. When I told them it was based upon the age of the device, they switched me to sales, which ticked me off and they tried to sell me a new smoke detector. I argued with them that it was their devices. I never bought them. And I expected service like I get with my cable, where if there was a failed device, they would just come and replace it. I went and bought a different one from what ADT tried to sell me. But that's the only bad experience I had in 26 years. The responses are great.
An alarm has gone off accidentally or the dog tripped it, they responded within 20 seconds of it going off that I knew the call would come. I know to have my phone handy because I would get a call. Before that, it was great when they changed from requiring to have a landline to the option of having cellular service. They came out, swapped it out and put the battery in and explained to me what would have to happen, and that was great. My one experience this past December was the only bad one. And it was just the customer service rep was not knowledgeable about their product.

When ADT quoted me the price, the initial installation was not what I would pay. But if I could get out of my contract at this point, I'd jump like a Mexican wrestler. Most of the time, ADT would tell me that techs would come from a window from 8:00 to 12:00, but they would not show up. And I would get a phone call at 20 after 4:00. Also, I thought I would get a credit on my insurance. I get a lousy $5.00. I got a thing in my house that tells me that somebody broke in. And I get a phone call from the police that somebody did. I could leave my dogs there and get a better response. My dogs bark when somebody comes to the house. That's as much as I get out of the system.

I'm not happy with ADT because I asked to get my bill lowered, and they hung up the phone on me. I just wanted to lower my bill because I've seen the pad that was the LCD and it's not the one that I have. I tried to tell the guy that it hasn't been working whenever I try to set the alarm. It just says garage door is open and it's not. They were supposed to send somebody out to fix it, but they never did.
When I contacted their customer service, they were saying that I was paying the lowest plan that is the 47.99. I told them I'm not because I got a flyer in the mail that says the other pad was 36.99. That was when somebody transferred me over to somebody else, and then they hung up the phone. I was wanting to go with the lower plan because I don't think that it's fair to be paying 47.99 and I'm not getting the full effect from the product.

At the time, ADT's system was the newest thing out. But now, it's old. ADT hasn't come out and check it. The batteries would go, I would call them, they would send me batteries. One of the sensors has not been working for years. I don't use that sensor so it hasn't bothered me. Other than that, the system does what it's supposed to do. When the alarm does go off, ADT is persistent with calling.

ADT is a good company, but they have to take care of their customers. They have to check their customers' equipment. Make sure everything works. I've been a customer for 10 years and they have never come and check their equipment. It was just phone calls. The main thing that I want them to do is good installation. They have to have a good installer. Otherwise, we would always have a problem. The workmanship is bad. My alarms don't work as they supposed to. Some of the keypads need batteries. And my cameras and doorbell don't work. I have a lot of problems. I cannot get anybody to fix anything on my business. Also, the installer stole some tools out of my garage. I called ADT and they told me that I had to call the guy who installed them. I did. I don't know if he died or I could not get ahold of him. He was an old guy. But ADT would not call me to let me know anything. I'm ready to change companies.

We've been with ADT for more than 15 years now. I haven't had any issues and had pleasant conversations. The only thing is there might have been too many phone calls. Other than that, the system works fine. One thing I don't go along with is all the individual equipment that they have is battery-operated, but that's just the way it is. I like their quick reaction when the alarm goes off. We haven't had any issues because we keep everything up-to-date and we try to make sure that everything's running without any hitches. We had one incident where we took a door off, put a door on and we wanted to just take the sensor and put it on the door. ADT told us that somebody would have to come out and put it on, which we couldn't understand. That was the only thing that I didn't agree with because it was the center. It wasn't like we were putting the panel on.

Don't get ADT. They don't follow up on phone calls and security system issues. They take their own good time doing it. I always had to wait several weeks whenever somebody is in the area. Also, they didn't come out to fix stuff that would need to be fixed. The alarm worked out of sync on the door, so the connection didn't meet. The pad was so old. It didn't work properly, and it still doesn't. It would say fire. It would go off, beep for long periods of time until it stopped on its own. I didn't know how to stop it, because it was something in the system. It was a defect in the pad. I didn't feel safe with it in the home. I need to call somebody because I need them to stop taking the money out of my account. I'm getting ready to cancel it, because after me having them for all these years, they sent me a letter saying some kind of service I'm supposed to get that they were no longer doing.

ADT deals from 1:00 to 4:00 because it doesn't narrow it down. And whenever I came, the tech showed up at another time, 10 until 4:00, and I wasn't home. I was down the street and I didn't get the service I needed. This last appointment, I didn't make any plans because it wasn't on my calendar. He said we made plans the first time. But the first appointment I did, he showed up 10 until 4:00 and he said, "It's gonna take some time."
I had AT&T come out here and put fiber optics in. He said, "That's gonna be expensive." I said, "That's fine." He said, "I don't have the things I needed." If they come out for a service call, they should have at least the basics. It was some remote signal booster. It came in the mail the other day from FedEx. And when he showed up, my daughter was here. So, he could have continued working. But when I got home a little after 4:00, he had already been there and left. There was nothing I could have done. I called the service guy. I also talked to a lady and said, "He was there and he already left and we'll have to reschedule an appointment."

ADT is a good company, but sometimes it's hard to get a live person to come and help me. But if I complained enough, they would send someone out and usually they would not charge me. They have satisfied what I wanted. They are very good about saying when we should upgrade things or they changed some things that had to be upgraded. And when they came, they showed me new things. So, I have updated my system from the beginning. It has worked out well.

I took it on at one price and ADT lowered my rate. So, I wonder if I need it. I started out at $55. Now, they're up to 75. I got a house with six doors, which I know cost more. I got six sensors on the doors. And I don't know if my motion detectors even work. I got three of them in the house. If I had a good dog, I'd eliminate ADT. I just want the dog to be my protection.

ADT's customer service has been horrible. I called them to cancel and they told me it would cost me $700. I said, "What? Are you kidding?" "Nope, nope. We're not kidding." The guy was very rude about it, too. He didn't try to explain anything. I'm going to keep it until the contract runs out and I really hate it. I wanted to cancel because the system hasn't worked in almost a year now. It's just garbage right now and I'm paying for nothing. It's almost like a reverse ripping me off. It's like somebody robbing me, but they're pretending like they're protecting me. I'm very disappointed, very upset with it, and I can't wait for the contract to end so I can cancel. We haven't used it in almost a year, but I keep paying every month for it. So, it's very frustrating and I will never go with ADT again.

My impression of ADT's customer service is poor. It used to be excellent. When I called, I immediately got a human to speak to. Now, I would call and I speak to an automated system, and I have to drill down until I get to the right person. It's annoying. And there are people I speak to who seem to be overseas. It's difficult to get my point across and get the issue resolved. So, my experiences with their service have not been good.
I called them a week ago because they increased my bill by $4.95 a month. So, I wanted to call to complain. I did the prompts through the telephone and whole other nonsense at ADT. I must have been on the phone without speaking to a person for 10 to 12 minutes until a human picked the phone up. If I go back to a year ago when I had an alarm issue and I spoke to someone, they gave me incorrect advice. Only after calling a second time and speaking to someone else that I got the proper information that diagnosed the issue.
The system generally works fine. I've been with ADT for 20 years. There has been no follow-up from them, other than through the web, about changing the equipment or upgrading the equipment. There has to be an improved system available to monitor the house. And they haven't called me to offer it to me. Should they do that after so many years of service? It would seem to me, after 20 years, that the technology possibly could be upgraded or changed.

The sales rep was informative but a lot of the things that he made promises on, like no charge when a technician comes out, is not true. The equipment keeps going in and out and it's annoying when I can't troubleshoot it over the phone. I have to get a tech to come out and then they charge me for it. Overall, it hasn't been a great experience but it's not bad enough where I would say I wouldn't continue to use them. I am planning on moving and I will use them again.

The whole service feels like it's a scam. 80 bucks a month is ridiculous for the service they're providing and I paid a lot of money upfront. I paid $5,000 for this thing and we asked them for basic stuff like the ADT sign for our front yard and it's not built in. They said I gotta call a different number. We called five people in their corporate office just to be told no in getting a sign for the front yard to say we have a security system.
It's very bureaucratic and difficult and it's been the same time when we had a challenge with our system not working. We had to call them six times and for three weeks, we didn't have a security system because they kept routing us and telling us to do more things. I was not gonna sit here and kept troubleshooting their system. I had five hours of call on the phone with these guys trying to troubleshoot. They refused to send somebody out here for what was their problem. The whole experience is like that. They're the worst people to ever call if you need any kind of administrative work or support.
If you're buying something, they're good and they have a call center if your alarm goes off and they call you. But if it's not one of those two things, if it's maintenance or you need signs, they're absolutely horrible. The other part I have a problem with is I don't want all this Google stuff in my house. Why would I pay ADT $80 a month to get my data to Google? A week after I purchased it, I regretted it and I would never do it again. I never recommend it to anybody.

When I got the doorbell, I thought that was free and I didn't know there was a cost to it. I don't mind paying for it but I wish they explained and went over everything and took time with the customer to show them how it works. They didn't show me everything, which is what I was really displeased with when I first got the system. There are some things I didn't quite understand and I just had to pick up pieces. Then, when I called, sometimes I get the help and sometime I couldn't. Also, I had a little trouble with it when they overbilled me. They billed me for a bill of $297 or something like that and I couldn't understand why, but they did pay me back.

I'm glad I have ADT. It's so easy to use and I'm glad about that part. They told me how to work it when they installed it and they also came back to show me. I am happy with the alarm system and the monthly fee is reasonable.

They came out and took a look at our system. They've been very positive, they know what they were talking about, and they're very professional. We got what we needed and whatever they recommended for us is really good. I'm not a big fan of the Google Nest system, though, but other than that, it's fine and it makes me feel secure.

The sales reps at ADT never told me it was a three-year contract that I entered into. The consultant came out to hook up the system, which came with the home, and I told him I really didn't wanna pay anything since I'm always home. The next thing I know, I'm being charged. I called ADT back about 16 months ago and I said, "Why am I being charged?" They said, "Oh, you entered an 18-month or a three-year contract." They said it was all a contract online and I don't remember ever signing it. I think the installer signed it then on my behalf. It was an electronic signature.

I told the ADT rep what I wanted to secure. I stay at home a lot but when I'm gone, I have packages on my porch. I wanted a camera. I wanted a doorbell ring. He said that my doorbell didn't work. Come to find out it does work. I ended up getting a keychain and two cameras. The cameras have been working great so far. I never had a problem with the thing that's in the house. When they do go off, ADT calls. Since having the system, I feel better because when I'm in the house by myself, I put it on stay and it could go off if somebody who is not supposed to be in here is here. So, I feel secure. I experienced a sense of security. I could leave my packages on the porch. They're being watched by the camera. So, if somebody comes and takes my packages, I know who took them. I feel good with the system and the area that I'm in.

All the interactions I've had with the reps at ADT are positive. They answer questions, and when I've had alarms, they respond immediately. When I upgraded my system, I was here and the man who came to install was professional and nice. He did what he was supposed to. Right now, I'm having a problem with my system because my keypad said that the one in the bedroom's battery was low, so I had to go around because I got six windows in here. I had to figure out which one it was. And when I took one of them, a loose something popped out of it. I called ADT. Instead of them sending somebody out here, they sent me something to put in there. I haven't even tried to fix it. So now, the only way I can use my alarm is to arm it on my phone.

When I first became an ADT customer, there were a lot of things that were told to me by the sales gentleman that weren't the case. If my $100 was gonna be refunded, then they tried to bill me for the sensors. I've also had issues with my tablet since November. I've called a numerous amount of times. They finally sent someone out and tried to bill me for the service. It ended up getting refunded, but after I put up a bit of a stink. And the service doesn't work consistently. I'm not exactly happy with ADT. If I weren't in a contract, I would go somewhere else.

I'm happy with ADT. It's been good. When I had a problem, it got corrected right away. People who came out to service were always very knowledgeable, polite and nice. However, ADT is a little expensive. They keep going up in price and it gets harder for us folks who are on Social Security and a pension.

ADT's customer service reps have all been good. They're on top of everything, easy to talk to and they get back to you easily. We just had a recent issue where I had to make contact with them. A repair team had to come out and check my system and they fixed everything right away. They were awesome. I'm happy with them. I do use the app and I like it. ADT is a little pricey but I feel safer with the system put in.

The service of ADT is just not good. It's hard to reach someone and it's hard to get them to come out to your house when you have a problem. They need to go back to the old way and show that they care about their customers. It's a security, so we need to feel secure. It's not good when you have a security system and you don't feel secure. When you're calling them, they want you to be the IT person and we don't work for them. That's why we have them as a provider because we need help.

Everything is going very well with ADT. The installation of my system was good. They took care of business. They were very courteous, professional and thorough. They've been on top of things. The only issue I've had over the years is I have to charge for the new batteries. Sometimes I thought that was a little bit goofy. But other than that, I'm very happy and satisfied.

ADT is working perfectly and we feel safe with it. We had ADT back in the nineties, so we knew to go with ADT. We used to live in Ohio back in the ‘90s, and then when we moved back, we went with ADT. We like the security on the windows. We also like having the Google pad.

I'm not too happy with ADT because things are not working. When I try to get technical support, it doesn't happen all the time. The closure of the windows is not connecting like it's supposed to. I'm just tired of trying to deal with it. And when I call ADT, it's hard getting through to them. So, you burn out sometimes. I'm thinking of going elsewhere.

I started with Protection 1 back in '06 and then they were bought out by ADT and everything was a seamless transition. I was so pleased with them, I bought them for my new house. Everything has been positive with my experience with ADT. They asked questions about what I was looking for and they responded with various options for what they could provide. They were professional and their service was reasonably priced, too.

Since ADT merged with Google, it seems that the service has gotten a little bit more expensive. I used to have free service calls with them and now I pay for the service calls. In fact, I just had someone come in to give me the little remote thing and that cost me $129 just for him to come in and program the remote. But the service has always been great. Whenever I need to contact them, I have to do everything by phone and they always answer right away.
I have my cameras outside with ADT and that's wonderful. When I caused some of the alarms to go off, they called the police. They respond very fast, too. I sometimes put the code in too late and sometimes the police will show up at my door. So, I have no problem with ADT. They take very good care of me. When a man scammed me and my whole house was down, my alarm system was the only thing that worked because it had a backup battery. So, I went thru quite a bit with ADT but that incident wasn't their fault. They were very helpful in getting everything back online.

I had ADT for years and when I moved last August, I went through a company in down south to get my mortgage. They hooked me up with an ADT man there and it was a bad experience. He went over what he thought I should have and I told him what I wanted. Then he sent out someone and that person went on and on about the things that I should have. They used a little scare tactic and before you know it, I was up to $1,000. But I didn't go with it and I just went with some of it. I’m 73 years old and I did not want a big bill. I also had no idea I was going to do a contract. I would love to get out of it and to deal with somebody in this area. But the one I got is for three years.
They put in the usual box, some things in my basement, and something on the doors, which I wanted. They also put the glass shattering thing which was very expensive. But I got it because their rep said I should have it. Also, I wish I could get a number that I could call and have somebody help me. When the system broke down and I had to call somebody at ADT, it was a nightmare. Their reps didn't understand what I was saying and I didn't understand what they were saying.

I'm sorry I have a three-year contract with ADT. When I was getting my loan from the loan company, they offered a concierge service to hook up a lot of things and I got a little swept away because I was under a lot of stress to sell my house and because I lost my husband. I didn't realize I had a three-year contract with ADT until after the fact. The guy that installed the system was wonderful, but then my follow-up calls with them were a little to be desired. However, it's okay now. I'm using the system, and everything seems to be working fine.
I got two keychain remotes and they said that I could use that to program the system, but they never showed me how. The remote just hits a program button to alarm the system. It doesn't give me the option whether it's stay or away. My main concern was when I slept at night, I wanted the motion detector on because I don't trust people, breaking into places. The reps told me that I could program away even when I'm home, but that's not true. If I program it, it automatically goes to stay instead of away. Either they lied or they didn't know what they were talking about. Another thing is ADT charges for the app and I'm not paying for that. It's only a couple of dollars a month, but it's the principle. Why should I pay for their app?

The sales rep was good. He convinced me that I was in a high crime area and that it was a good idea to have the system. The price was a little above average, but then the service is well known. Subsequently, I found out that a high crime area is around but not anywhere close to me. It wasn't stressed to me was how long the service contract was for as well. I found out about a year later when I thought about getting rid of the system that the contract was for three years, so I'm just waiting for the contract to run out.
The system has registered several false alarms to the local fire department, which I felt very embarrassed about. I'm usually careful with stuff like that. My smoke alarm went off because I was cooking. I found little evidences of combustion off from an electric stove that set the alarm off. The system is sensitive, and I wasn't very happy about that, nor was my fire department other than the fact that they had a training exercise.
If a friend needs an alarm, I would recommend ADT, but if they didn't need one, I wouldn't recommend them or anybody else. There's nothing wrong with the service and the system I have works the way it's supposed to, but I don't think it's a value to me for what I'm paying. I'm thinking that a security system isn't really necessary for me because I am very careful with locking both my house and my garage doors. My basement door is always locked as well.

I got a mailer from SafeStreets and decided to take advantage of it. I was supposed to get a $100 gift card, but I never received it. I've been with ADT for at least two years, and I've made mention of the gift card before but nobody's ever done anything about it. Other than that, the installers were great. They were prompt, professional, and knew what they were doing. At night, when we go to bed, we have the motion detector, and I like it.

The cost reasonable and I'd recommend ADT, but there are issues that need to be taken care of. I have a lot of difficulty with cameras going offline. I have to call ADT about once a month to get things reset, and everybody that I call to deal with is excellent. They're very informative and knowledgeable, and they try to help. I just wish I wouldn't have to reset it sometimes. If I'm out of town, I can't reset my gateway from there.

ADT is a good company, and I've been with them about 20 years. I called and got a price, then when the installer came, they had this Docusign thing. When I signed up, it was something different than the price that I had been quoted. Other than that, the quotation was good.

The installation of our ADT system was pretty easy. The installer came out and told us what he was going to be installing and he was very friendly. So far, the system does what I need it to do. But when their door-to-door salespeople sold us up on the system, they told us that we were going to get a 20% discount on our home insurance and we found out that they were not truthful. Whenever we gave our homeowners insurance the information, it ended up only saving us $10 for the whole period and not at all close to what ADT's reps said it was going to be. ADT also needs to change the wording of their six-month guarantee. On the website, it says six-month guarantee where if you're not happy, you get refunded. But when I contacted customer service, they refused to honor it.

ADT's reps came out and handled the installation quickly. They gave me the stickers that they thought I would need to put on my doors or windows and a sign, and nobody has stolen them yet. They occasionally send out a refer-a-friend or a family member thing and there's a $200 incentive on that. I've talked to a couple of neighbors but they don't want to do it. Other than that, I called ADT once for a battery and they're sending me out info on how to change batteries. I also called them for a replacement of a sensor but we were guilty of that part because it needed cleaning. So we went out and got a little telescopic duster. And when my wife cleans, she cleans all the security sensors that we have.

ADT is good but they're getting more expensive. So cost-wise, the other competitors are much cheaper now. Also, when the alarm goes off, the app doesn't really give me a ring so I can see what's happening in the house. They should add that to the app.

I haven't had any problems with ADT. They’re prompt whenever the alarm goes off. We had to contact ADT recently for something that had to do with the outlet on the wall. They sent someone out here. It had something to do with the battery out on the shed, though. They talked me through installing it myself. Overall, I like the system's protection. It is prompt about going off or if the door is open. What I dislike about it is it's not loud enough. My husband and I were asleep one night, and the alarm was going off. They had to call us to let us know to get up and turn it off. It was that low.

I've always been happy with ADT. I set the alarm off accidentally twice, and they followed through with what was supposed to be done very well. They dealt with it very well. I was pleased. I like ADT and everyone involved with it. The few times I've dealt with people from ADT, they were great.

ADT is all right. I've had them as a servicer for quite some time now, but I'm considering some other options of securing my home at this particular moment. I wish things would be better. My unit is due for an upgrade, and I've been having issues with the battery and everything else for some time now. ADT doesn't seem to be overly concerned or too responsive when I call to get someone out to replace the battery and everything else. They always wanna charge me for a battery when the battery should come with the actual system.

ADT was a little bit misrepresented on the ability to be able to cancel the service. I'm not happy with that part. The representative told me that I could cancel. I've been using the service now for all this time, but they're too expensive for what I need here. I need a video system, and they're way too expensive on the video system. I was looking at a video system, found one, and called ADT to cancel, and they said they couldn't cancel it because I got it through a third-party vendor that they used. The other party had to cancel it. If I cancel it, then I got to pay them over two grand. I was misquoted on the information.
When the installation team came in to do the install on the door sensors and everything else, they put one of the sensors on the wrong door. So, I had to manually move the sensor myself. They were here for 30 minutes when my wife was here. As far as the features of the products that I purchased, I'm satisfied. The alerts on the phone is my favorite. It's just that I've had a Blink system that works better. ADT is an over expensive alarm system for the home that you could get cheaper somewhere else. ADT is more expensive than anything that I've seen.

My camera hasn't worked since last fall, and it was partly my fault because they sent me a camera in the mail, and I'm 77 years old, I'm not climbing a ladder and changing the camera. So, it's not fixed. I was thinking of just canceling the whole thing because I'm paying a fee for a service and it should be warranted. I've seen rainwater pouring on it. So, it's in the wrong place. I'm not really happy. ADT's customer service reps were very nice, but when I go away, I'd like to know that my cameras are working, but they don't. Sometimes, the door doesn't work. They're not very clear. If somebody came and walked in the back, I could see the person walking in the back but I wouldn't be able to tell who it was.

ADT is not on top of their business. Every time I had a problem, I would call them, they would blame it on something else. Half the time, they don't know what they're doing. By the time they answered my question, they transferred me to five people, and they would keep on handing me to somebody else. I'm not happy with their service. They don't mind getting people to get their money and their business, but when it comes to time that I would trying to explain to them for a problem, they don't care if I left them or not. Also, the system does not work good and I'm not happy.

We did the monitoring with ADT, and we have the camera service, which sucks. It's only 30-second little clips. It does store it in the cloud. Sometimes, it doesn't work when I need it. It takes too long to pull up. When I don't need it, it's there instantly. So, just for an instance, I had an incident. The sheriff came over to the house. I let him in and tried to find the clip, and the camera is not even working. I tried to find another clip, and we could see one of the sheriff officers walking through. When I have an incident I wanna report up, I want that thing recorded 24/7. If I need to go back two minutes, three minutes, or a day, I wanna be able to do that. It's not reliable.
I like that they won't change out the piece of equipment without charging me a fee. If something breaks, they charge me a fee and they send somebody out to fix it or they can send me the camera, and I can do it myself. It's just we've been with them so long, and the numbers on the number pad wore out. So, I called them and said, “Hey, send me a number pad. I wanna change mine out.” They said, “No. You have to have a technician. That’ll cost you 60 bucks when he come out and do it.” I was like, “Okay. Never mind. I don't wanna spend 60 bucks.” I’d go to SimpliSafe first, which is my plan eventually, but I just haven't had time to swap it out. Overall, I'm not completely dissatisfied, but I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.

ADT's reps made it very easy, and made an appointment to send a man out to do the work. It went smoothly, and explained what I was about to buy, what I would pay for and what I would get. So, it was all great. I'm happy with what I bought. Also, the techs were very good because they had to go under the house. They were very careful and willing to do things. I hate going under there. But they did that and got everything put up like it was supposed to.

ADT is good to use. I may need to upgrade my doorbell because we don't get as much as what I see advertised on television. But I like the idea of it. I'm satisfied. One time, there was something on the system that was going out and we called. Somebody walked us through what needed to be done, and it was a good interaction. Somebody came out here recently. He was looking for some kind of a switch thing. And when he went into the rooms, he was not careful with what he did in the closet. Even though he was told that there was no such plug or switch in that closet. Just dragged the clothes this way, that way. And he took a long time to get to the point of what he needed to do. He seemed to be trying to find easier ways out. And in the end, he had to do what initially he thought he had to do. He did his job and everything was good.

I've been with ADT for over 28 years. I tried to ask for a free upgrade to something better but they just told me no. That's surprising for a customer as long as I've been. I felt it was unfair for them to tell me just no. I should have a better keypad. Other than that, everything is fine. The alarm system is good. The windows and the door locks are fine. When I had a problem with anything, ADT helped me out.

In the past, ADT was pretty sloppy but lately, it's been very good. The workers that came here were lazy. They didn't really wanna help. I asked them to go into my phone and do this and do that, and they would get the phone back to me. Now, they got better workers to come into people homes. They're more nicer. They're not in a hurry. Also, ADT paid me back when I told them about how they went into my account twice. As far as anything else, they did help me with my equipment a couple of months ago because the doorbell burnt out and it shouldn't have burnt out. David and I spent $1,900 for our equipment in the house, and they said, “Oh, you're gonna have to pay for it again.” I said, “No way I'm gonna pay for something again, and I had put all this money into my home.” They did fix it for free.
There is one thing I didn't get, though. With the way my house is built, I have a catwalk, and it's only two bedroom on this side, a bathroom and the closet. If someone wants to break into my home, they can hear me and they can see me. I asked them if they would replace the bedroom alarm system. They said they will, and I never did get that from them.

I have several homes, and we have ADT systems in all of them. The alarm monitoring is timely and accurate. The ease of use of the app is fine as far as turning the alarm on and off as needed. I had a couple of issues trying to get some yard signs, which they would not supply me with. Also, there have been issues with one of the panels. But those guys have been fine.

I'm very happy with ADT. They came out and did an assessment. I told them all I wanted to have. They gave me everything and showed me some newer technology, which I availed. So, I'm very happy with what they offer. I like the control panel. It gives me a lot of information in one place. Also, I liked that the reps were not high pressure. They were pleasant to work with. And the service calls that I made so far have been excellent and timely experiences.

I've been satisfied with everything that ADT has done since I've had them as a company. If my alarm set off, they respond very quickly to make sure that it was either the owner or they would notify the local police to come and check it out for me. I talked to them to deal with an issue that I had on removing a code off of my system. They hooked me up on the phone with this young lady, and it took a little minute because it was an old system, but we were able to do it to my satisfaction, and I appreciated their help. She walked me through it. That was another good thing. No one had to come out.

ADT's reps were very helpful. Everything went smoothly. We used it a couple of times. Smoke multi detector went off only when I was cooking. It’s very sensitive. Quick response. I'm happy with it. I just gotta get one of those magnetic sensors for the window. I gotta figure out how to have it sent to me. I saw it on the floor. I didn't realize what it was and threw it away. After I found out it was missing, I know that must have been what that was, but it was too late. Other than that, the doorbell camera and the sensor for the sliding doors work seamlessly, so I'm happy with it.

I don't want ADT anymore. I wish I was out of my contract so I can cancel it. It's completely useless. The services they provide aren't necessary. I can get stuff a whole lot cheaper, and then I don't have to deal with any contracts. The products are subpar and completely aggravating to use. So, I'm 100% unsatisfied. If there's any way that I can get out of my contract, I'll be much more happy in life and not as miserable as I am having to deal with the product.

I always had a good experience with ADT. They are fast if our alarm went off. They would respond, call us, and find out what was going on. Also, if I called for a bill and I wanted it adjusted to another day, they would not hesitate to work with me with that. The installation team was out at one time and they reviewed their pads. Very positive. Even when they put in the system after I had moved, it didn't take long. I was very satisfied with the package. As a single parent, everything went well.

I'm not happy with ADT. I've been trying to cancel it for months now. I was told I can't. I'm just waiting until the end of my agreement in October to cancel it. They haven't provided the service that they said they would. When I tried to upgrade and get additional cameras, the cameras were astronomical. It made no sense how much they cost. So, I looked elsewhere and I found a service that gave me exactly what I needed for the same price but with more cameras and more service.
I even tried to pay the cost of the term upfront and I got the runaround. They told me that this department couldn't do it, I need to be connected to this department, and they connected me to that department. I was prepared to pay full term at the time. So, they called me months later and told me all I have to do is go to some department, and I could cash out. I told them I didn't have the funds then. So, they told me, "Well, you have to stay till October." Overall, the system did what it said it was gonna do, but I wasn't blown away by it.

I couldn't get anybody to help me. I wasn't gonna cancel my service until I called today because I got a notice saying my bill is 30 days past due. When I talked to an agent last week, she gave me $100 credit, she was to give me 9.99 bill for the next three months, and it would go to 29.99 to help me get through this time in our lives. I got a notice today saying that never happened. I called, sat on hold, talked to a representative, and they said, “No. You have to call this number,” which is Safe Haven. I've never been able to get ahold of them because I would be on hold for a minimum of 20 minutes and I’m at work. So, I'm frustrated.
I couldn't get part of the system fixed to work. We couldn't operate our garage door opener from our phones because I couldn't get anybody to help me. So, it's not that useful. When we first got it, we were able to have our outdoor lights turned on and off set by timer. That doesn't work. They couldn't figure that out. We gave up on that seven months ago. I'm paying for stuff that don't work.
I don't even know who my service is through, if ADT or Safe Haven. I made what I thought was a good faith payment plan and credit, only to find out that it's not because the person I talked to today said they never even heard of it. There are no notes. "Here, you need to call this number,” which I called. And it was Safe Haven. I feel stuck. I have no idea what to do. So, I'm unhappy.

The ADT sales representative was absolutely marvelous. The problem was they wanted to charge me a unreasonable amount of money to upgrade my system. I stayed with my 20-year-old system. We have been loyal customers with ADT and them wanting to charge me an outrageous amount of money to upgrade my system was unbelievable. I have my payment to ADT taken directly on a charge card every month, so there's no worries with respect to them having to process my check. I also have the ADT home health monitors. But if I had to do it all over again, I’d dump ADT.

I was pissed off because I had problems with my system and I called ADT for some assistance, and the young lady was supposed to call me back. When they came out and put my sensors up in the basement, they put it in an area where it would not do well on the back door. That was my concern with her. I couldn't get in contact with anybody. I wanted somebody to come back and see where they could place the sensor or in another area on the door, but nobody called me back. I wanted it where if somebody wished to break in down there, we could at least hear it. Other than that, customer service is like a gem. They own it. It has been as expensive as any electrical device consisting of a camera. And when the weather would get bad, it would too. Other than that, it's okay.

I had a problem with my previous provider and ADT seem to be a reliable company so I switched to them and it's been much better with them. Also, they agreed to lower the fee. That was a good interaction. The initial installation was complicated, though, because my previous system is a wired system. They had to check everything out. Mostly, I kept my wired sensors on all the windows and doors. But a few were not working correctly, so they put on wireless sensors instead. It took a while to get it all to work together and they did a good job.
They've come out to do a number of different things in the last year or so and I've had good experiences with the service team. I had a battery that was not working correctly and they had to change that. Then, it was coming off the wall and they fixed that so it is now firm. But it's changed in the last year or two. A different company purchased them and they're much harder to reach and to get assistance.

The tech tried to fix my alarm last week and it broke again the next day. It's very frustrating for ADT’s system not to work and then they wanna charge me $60 just to send somebody out to fix it. They can improve on that. But it was very positive dealing with the person they sent out.

I had a tech out to service the system and it was good. They got the job done, although it took three days to get them there. They had to order a part and it took a day or so to get it. But they were very professional and did not leave debris in my home. They cleaned up after themselves.

This is the third residence that I've lived in with the ADT security service on it and the techs have been great. Several years ago, I had on one of my outbuildings a bay door that we had a sensor that had an intermittent problem. I called up ADT and they told me how to disarm that particular system. The following day, somebody came out and replaced the sensor. Also, I've never had an emergency, but I have had it go off, normally because of something I did or didn't do, and their response is immediate. They always offer to call law enforcement in.
One time on a previous residence, I had a Golden Retriever who learned how to operate lever lock door knobs and I forgot to lock the door. I was at a ball game and by the time I got there, the sheriff was there. But it was just my dog. The only thing I have to complain a little bit about ADT is they're a little bit on the pricey side. The way that ADT has mine set up, the shop is separate from the house but it's all in the same system. They do not have that option. When I first signed up with them, they were in the high 30s or low 40s and now, they're in the higher 70s. But it's been over 20 years that I've been with them and I'm still here. So, obviously, I'm not too concerned.

I've called and the customer service reps have done what I've asked them or have answered a question. But other than that, the customer service is just one of those things. I have two stations and one of them had a battery problem. The lady said I could go to Walmart, Costco or Rite Aid and get a battery and put it in myself. But I couldn't see how to put it in. So I asked if I could have a tech. And I'm glad I had a tech come out because he had a heck of a time putting it in. That wasn't a good experience for me. The system is not plug-and-play. I got charged for the tech, which didn't make me happy but I understand. I had to call somebody.
The package seems to work fine. We rarely arm the house. So, we know if there's a home motion or the doors open and turn the lights on and off. But I've armed it a couple of times and forgot to tell the neighbors what the secret code was. And they came in and it went off. Fortunately, I was in cell coverage. So she said things were going off. Once, there was either a smoke or carbon monoxide detector that went off. It was going crazy and I called ADT to find out how to shut it off. In the meantime, the fire department was trying to call me on the same phone I was using. They pulled up and asked if everything was alright. I told them it was fine. We've had the system for a long time and I would think that ADT would have something other than hardwired stuff. The technology is there and we have Wi-Fi. But the system seems bulky and cumbersome.

If the equipment is down, ADT has a specific channel and they cannot go out of it. I have a Sirena outside the door and it’s annoying when the alarm goes off. It broke and just to come and figure out what’s wrong with it, they want to charge you upfront. For low battery, you have to buy that. They don’t have the technology to prevent the battery from going out. They are not as fast as providers nowadays such that even before it happens, they tell you something is wrong and you need to work on it to fix it. But ADT is good. I’ve had them for a long time.

When they were introducing the packages, it wasn't that very clear and I was asking the rep for an email follow-up but I never received it. But I went ahead and had their system installed. Then, I was supposed to receive a $100 Visa card for the reward but until now, nobody has reached out to me. I have received no other customer service calls and I just realized that it was not ADT, but it's their vendor. I really hate it and I have to reach out to them, go on websites, and find out what is the relationship between them and things like that. Also, I was being transferred back and forth and that was not appreciated.

ADT's customer service is atrocious. When the guy first came out to set up our stuff, he was super unprofessional. He oversold us on a bunch of stuff that we didn't need. My girlfriend bought a home that was already built and she bought the exact same equipment that I bought. Now, we're locked into a monthly rate of 49.99 for the life that we own our home. Her monthly bill is $80, so it's $30 more a month. And I had a $500 credit. I paid over $2,000 for all my equipment and she paid a grand. We both live at Maryland in the same community and HOA, the whole nine yards. We've all got the same window sensors and smoke detectors. We have the same security.
The guy was in my house for six hours but the appointment was supposed to be for an hour and a half max for what we got. It was ridiculous. I canceled that appointment because we didn't have internet set up because it was a brand new build. Our internet provider was having issues and he said he could get it all set up. And that when we have our internet, we would be able to call and activate it. I said I really wanna cancel it but he would not leave. So finally I told him to do his thing. He set it up and mentioned that he and his wife set up all the sensors so they were ready to go prior to all of his appointments. We found out that they were either set up incorrectly or the batteries were old. He made us very uncomfortable and told us that our system wasn't gonna be active for three days. He knew my personal password and what was in my house. My husband and I are huge collectors and we have a lot of stuff in our house.
I called ADT right away. After being on hold for 2.5 hours, I got them to immediately set up the alarm so it was automatically done, so I wouldn't have to wait inside. I had them immediately change the password protector because I didn't want the guy to know it, and to immediately activate the actual alarm so that we and the place would be notified if there were any entries. Even though the internet wasn't active, other functions still worked. The guy told us we have a smart home, which was one of the biggest things my husband always wanted to buy. He told us we didn't have to take our keys with us anymore. We can use this keypad and ADT’s app, and we can get into our home. That's the whole point of a smart home. It’s convenient. But a week and a half after this is all setup, we're now spending $170 on a locksmith to break into our house.
Our only child is in Texas so he didn't even have a key because he hadn't been home yet, because we had literally moved into the house a week and a half prior. We had no keys with us. The new locks that ADT provides are amazing. The locksmith could not break into them and would have to drill a hole through our door. I asked for another option and he asked if we have a picture of the key. I had done a video of the day we got our keys and we were able to screenshot a picture of me holding it up. He was able to break into our garage and use that picture to make a plastic key to unlock our garage door. $170 later, we're back into our house.
18 phone calls later and three hours every phone call, I'm calling ADT and this, that and the other person were telling me I would get reimbursed at this number. But we never once got reimbursement. We’ve had every single one of the sensors fail and I could never get any assistance with anything. Our alarms randomly go off, usually in the middle of the night while we're sleeping, because that's the convenient time. You can never get anybody on the phone. I work for a very large nationwide company and I ironically had somebody call in who worked for ADT Technical. I told them what I was having and they assisted me. So we got some of our problems resolved just because a customer had called me at my company and was able to help me.
Our front door broke again about a month and a half ago, so our son freaked out. It never would say it was locked so he called us one night at three o'clock in the morning and told us our front door was unlocked. I couldn't get it to lock because he has the app on his phone and I forgot to tell him. He was worried that somebody's gonna walk in our front door. I couldn't get anybody from ADT. I've tried calling but I can't sit on the phone all day. We found out from that situation that we are outsourced from ADT. We have to go through some third-party company who will not assist us, and they're in some other country. Every single thing out front of my house is ADT and when my credit card got hacked and I didn't pay my bill, ADT wanted their money.
The front door wound up getting fixed because we started messing with it. My husband wound up taking the batteries out and then we changed the batteries in every single product. We haven't had issues in the last couple of weeks. So we're assuming it might have been a battery issue, but the battery shouldn't have been bad since September. The night that I signed with the guy, my husband and I were at Walmart at 10 o'clock at night, and this guy called me because I never signed my contract. He never gave it to me. So he was blowing up my phone to get me to sign this contract. When I told him I needed to review it, he didn't give me an opportunity. I had to sign it while I was in the Walmart parking lot at 11 o'clock because I had no reception inside Walmart to pull it up.

The only problem I have is with the remote. I upgraded the remote and it keeps going offline for some reason. I contacted ADT to no avail because it still keeps doing that. They tried doing some troubleshooting over the phone and it worked for a minute but then it went right back to going offline. Also, it takes a long time to get to a live person.

ADT was recommended by my uncle and he had a lot of positive things to say about it. But I had the opposite experience. I'm paying to have cameras outside and I haven't had an active recording since February 5th. I'm busy and I haven't had a chance to call them but I know the rates are going up so I need to make a phone call.
When I spoke to the reps from ADT in the past, it was not so great. I had an issue with my front yard camera and the guy wanted to charge me for a new camera. I haven't had the camera that long and I shouldn't have to pay for a new one. The problem was the cap that covers the camera. I don't know what was going on at night but it made it foggy so if I can't see what's outside, that's not helping me, security-wise. The guy ended up replacing it but the position where he put the camera wasn't a great spot either. I was telling the lady that the charges were too high and she wasn't really helpful. She was being very sarcastic. I will be probably disconnecting my services, especially now since ADT is going up and I don’t even know what I’m paying for. It is too expensive and the service isn't great based on my experience.

Recently, I had an alarm go off and ADT called me, and the police. And everything worked out perfectly well. Somebody opened the rear door. But, it was a false alarm. Their reps were very helpful. They talked me through one repair, which they were kind enough to do.

I'm not very happy with ADT right now because I've called four times to get a new sign because my sign out in front of my house is all cracked and broken and I still don't have a sign. The guy who had me set up my system took off all my alerts. So, I don't get an alert at all if anybody's around my house and I don't like any of that. Every time I got in contact with anybody, they said, "Yeah, I'm gonna put that order in right now to get you the stickers and I'm gonna get you a new flat or a new sign that goes to the ground." And I still don't have one and it's been over a year now.

All my time with ADT, I have not ever had a bad experience. They're very straightforward and thorough with my concerns. They answer all the questions and always try to find ways to solve any issues. They even asked me if I was interested in receiving an upgrade. I can arm my house from the app they gave me. I also use it to pay my bill. The price is good. I'm at 37.99 a month. They dropped the price for me.

ADT has excellent customer service. Although my equipment is outdated, it's functional. It serves the purpose. Recently, I had considered calling them because whenever I've had a technician out here, I would ask them, if I had to promptly call 911, what two keys do I hit on the monitor to summon help? The only thing I know is when I have the system on, if I was to open a bathroom window, master bedroom window, that alarm will sound off and it will immediately go to 911. My master bedroom is close to the front entrance. If someone was to try to force their way into our home, I would want to put my fingers as fast as I could on that wall unit so that I can summon help. Perhaps they have something more upgraded. I wanna be able to get my hands on that unit and press the button 'cause there's no way I could ever dial 911 in any process like that.

The price was good and the agent that came out to talk to me was phenomenal. She's helped me with a couple questions since then. I'm happy with her. Everything with ADT is great, except I thought that it would be a quicker response when my smoke alarms went off. I drove down my driveway, got out of my car, and came out my steps. My smoke alarms were going off and there was smoke everywhere but nothing happened at that time. The fire department wasn't notified. I had to call 911 myself. By the time I got off the phone with the 911 operator, ADT called to ask if it was valid. When the fire alarm went off, it was supposed to be a quick thing that it was done. If I hadn't come home, who knows what would have happened.

When they came and put in the camera, nobody told us how to work it. When I called, the first person I talked to was not very helpful or nice or wanted to even try to assist. The next person I talked to was very patient and the person they transferred me to that helped me was good and asked questions to make sure I understood. They walked me through it while I was on the phone to make sure I got it. However, the price is too high. ADT could also make it easier to get through to the right person.

I like ADT's technicians. When you have a problem, they come up very timely. I was happy with the last package. Now, with this package, things have changed a little bit. Things get updated and works a little differently. The last time I had ADT, they had something like Ring for a while. Parts of it were confusing as we were sorting out different things. But I got into a good place with ADT with my last experience. I had to add on the CCTV part of it. I like the ability to access viewing on my phone of my front door and that my phone buzzes every time somebody nears my front door. I can see a picture of it. I have cameras on there so I could go look and see what's going on.
The problem is it doesn't come in as a total package. You have two different aspects to it that you have to contend with and deal with. You have the CCTV part and the other part where a guy came in and put all the things on the doors and windows. But the system has been good product for me. I'm moving to a different house now so I'm using ADT again.

Their reps are always top-notch. We've had any problem, question, and situation resolved thoroughly and quickly with them. Also, the system is great. It will alert us for fire and it tells us when there is activity. When the alarm is set, it tells us when someone opens the door from the outside and we're up-to-date on any activity that's going on in the house. We feel safe.

Our representative was very good. He did exactly what we needed, sold us whatever we wanted to have, and he was good about it. The installers did a very good job. But the battery on the keypad went dead at one point and ADT said they would send me a new battery. So they sent the battery and said, “Just call if you have any problems.” I called them because I was not sure I knew how to hook it up. They talked me through it with no problem, and everything worked fine. We're happy with the system. Plus they said, “If something happens, you'll get a phone call,” and they would call us to make sure if everything was okay. One time, we hit the wrong code, and when we came home and the alarm went off. Then we did the right code, it went off, and ADT called right away and said, “We're just checking to make sure. Is that you? Is everything fine?” We told them, “Yep, not a problem.” So they were fine with it.

Poor Customer Service Raising rates twice in less than two years. Not allowed to cancel without paying a massive penalty. NOT WORTH IT. They have been a massive disappointment and I would advise utilizing anyone except ADT.

ADT is a nice, clean-looking system. The installation went well. Nothing is bulky or ugly and it fits the motif. The salesperson I spoke to came out and was the installer for the system. We've had a couple of glitches here and there that they've come out and taken care of. We're satisfied with the service package we have. They're also on the ball. We've had some sensors go dead and we both work, so trying to get somebody here when we get home from work or on the weekend is a little tough once in a while. But other than that, it's fine.

I'm satisfied with ADT. When I have problems, I call them, but I don't talk to them much 'cause I hardly have problems. I got ADT because my husband passed away, so I needed some kind of security. I really feel secure now since I got that.

I wanna drop ADT right now because I can't find my own money to buy a nice camera. ADT called me to tell me that I'm supposed to pay them. I said, "I have not had service for over six weeks ago, in two months. So how come I supposed to pay you?" I said I have not had service. Someone came out to fix my service and to fix my system. They didn't get fixed and they're charging me $62.75. Someone came out yesterday and fixed it. I have not had service for almost two months, and they still want me to pay them full pay.
I had asked them to reboot my cameras for me. They said they rebooted it. Ever since that day, I have not had service. I called them up and I told them. They tried to do it by phone, and it never worked. And they keep charging me, and keep telling me that they're gonna send someone out. They can't find anyone. The last person I spoke with about paying the bill when I don't have service hung up on me.
I have had a problem once where they said that they had installed a camera for me, which they did not. And I was charged for it. All they did was move my camera from one place to another place, to a better place where I had asked them to put it since they're not giving me a camera. And they went back to say that they gave me a camera, which they did not. They have only moved my camera up a little for me. They charged me for a camera at the time. Overall, ADT used to be good, but ADT is not good anymore.

A neighbor up the hill had ADT and they recommended it. I took out a customer service contract with ADT because I had to have several things taken care of. I like the features of the package that I got. I have most of the things that I need but I added on the wristwatch that I wear.

I love the security system because I'll be going somewhere and I got one of those doors that I don't trust so I like my security. I'd tell others they need to get it because it's safer. I'm old and I keep it on 24/7.

The sales rep was very professional and nice as well as the installer. He was great. It took him a couple of hours to get the work done. ADT’s response time is excellent. They’re very quick.

I had ADT years ago and I left because I couldn't afford it anymore at that time but it was the best then. I signed up again and I called them because there was a special where I was supposed to only pay $25 a month. But then my payment ended up being $61 a month because I got a camera put in my back. They don't tell you in these ads that if you don't go strictly by the ad, it disqualifies the ad.
Also, the fact that ADT wants to charge you for every little thing that they have to come out and do blows my mind. And you're paying a monthly fee. Last year, some kind of battery burned out and they had to come in and change it. The tech said it cost $100 and I told him I didn't deaden the battery. Why do I have to pay for them coming here putting it in? I don't know how he wrote it out to get by it, but he didn't charge me. I got a new door so I'm gonna have to call them to put the sensor on my new door and I'm procrastinating because I don't know how much it's gonna cost me.
Hi Dave. Thank you for the review and feedback. There should not have been a charge for the battery replacement as the notes on that service appointment advised to have them waived for you. In regards to the sensor for the door, do you still have both pieces (Sensor and magnet)? If you only need a magnet and some strips/ screws to install yourself you can have a repair kit mailed to you. Otherwise, the sensors are $80.00 and you can contact ADT to arrange for it to be replaced.

I am on Social Security and limited income, and my safety is very important to me. ADT offered a very good introductory installation fee that was affordable and I’ve been with them for several years now. They reduced my prices so I can keep them. I feel very safe and I'm a very happy customer. ADT represents its customers with a very professional service that we can feel protected. Dealing with the reps has been outstanding. I was at work about seven years ago and they called the first responder on my list, a neighbor, and then they got ahold of me at work and the police checked my home out. I came home and it was fine. Nothing happened. They had a repair rep come out and check out everything as to why it just went off. They rechecked one of the monitors.
Originally, the installers showed me how to use the system but they upgraded it about a year back. It’s a more sophisticated system. So, I use it a little bit. It tells me on my phone when my doors are open. So if I am gone, I like that. I do yard work, so I'm in and out of my house. But because I'm in and out and my dogs are in and out, when I open the door, it says the garage door and the back doors are open. So if I'm in the house and the wind blows it or one of the dogs pushes it, then I know. I know one of the dogs is letting itself in or it alarms me if I'm busy inside and outside doing things. The dogs are used to it too. They hear it talk to them. It's a very good system.
Sometimes I don't use the system at night. Sometimes I do. If I get up in the middle of the night, I need to remember. I'm getting older and I am groggy and I wake up and I haven't turned the alarm on. Sometimes I turn it on and forget about it. I let the dogs out at 5:00 and all of a sudden, the alarm is going off. I hurry up and I have to remember the numbers and disarm it. Having the alarm helps, but there are times when I forget to turn it on, especially on late nights when I'm tired. But for the most part, it works very well with my routine, my security, and my professional safety from burglars. It's a good backup. But I have the dogs, which is my first alarm. If the burglars break in, within three minutes, ADT is calling. And if I don't disarm it, they call the police within three minutes and then they start calling the first person on my list to let them know that something's going on.
I don't have my family around. So, if something was to happen, ADT would call my daughter and my daughter would get the news that I was dead. If something happened to me and I didn't have ADT, nobody would know. It’s an added plus. My daughter would get the news sadly with ADT calling. The electronics in their system work exceptionally well. Any time I've had a question and I call, they're right there to come and check it out.

I like ADT. We've been able to install alarms on every exit and entrance window. We've had to put in an extra alarm to let us know when the alarm goes off because it's far away from our bedroom in the middle of the night. And they've been able to help us with that. They've had the solutions to correct what we wanted to add on to and make the home a little bit more secure.
The last couple of times I called, it was 10 or 11 o'clock at night on Friday, which was not a problem. When I got ahold of the workers, they were very helpful. They walked me through the process of correcting a problem with the control panel. The last couple of times, the control panel was beeping. I asked them what I needed to do. They walked me through it so that it could be fixed. All the interaction I've had with them, when their technician has come out here or whether I've talked to somebody on the phone, they've been very helpful. I've gotten through to them quickly or they have called back right away.
Their price keeps going up. But I have been a customer for so long and I've gotten to the point where I called them and said, "You're pricing me out of your market. I'm gonna have to drop you if you can't give me a break." They dropped the price on me by about 25% and they said, "If there's ever any increase, let us know and we will not increase your cost at all." While newer customers are probably paying quite a bit more than I am, my price has dropped down considerably. And I'm not gonna have a price increase as long as I'm with them.

ADT provides good service. Any time I've asked for help, they've always been here very quickly. They've replaced a couple of things and everything's been fine.

The representative at ADT did a great job. Installation went well, and the tech adjusted it to our situation. I'm totally satisfied with my system. It works fine. I haven't had much trouble at all except to replace some batteries, and when I got in touch with ADT, it went very smoothly. ADT has been very good with everything.

The reps at ADT have always been great. There was one time when my smoke detectors were going crazy and when the fire department came, they told me to call ADT and ADT would take care of it, and they did. They came out right away, and now I'm hooked up with my ADT system with my smoke detectors and don't have to worry about those batteries anymore. I've had ADT for about 35 years now, and I've made three moves in that time, and I've never had a single problem. I recommend ADT whenever someone needs a service.
