    ADT is a famous brand. When we moved into our house in California, I thought I was dealing with an ADT representative, but it was more one of their third party vendors, and they offered me a package and I accepted because we needed to install an alarm in our new house. ADT always seemed like a leader in the field. Everybody always has those yard flags with the ADT. The only thing is I'm almost on the phone with customer service once a month. I've been relegated to being that crazy guy who has to call all the time because my system sucks. It's awful.

    The system is unreliable. It's constantly on the fritz. It's not user friendly, and it's more expensive than any other service I've ever had. I made the mistake of not asking, but everything is wireless and it doesn't work. My video cameras always need to be reset. In my previous two houses, the only time I ever had to deal with the alarm company was when I set it up. I never had one ounce of issue or worry, and that's the way I like it. Here, it's constant so I have zero peace of mind with the system.

    The first time I called, they charged me 50 bucks for a service call, and I was like, “Wait a minute. It's a brand new system.” I had to be irate. The customer service is good in the sense that they're very friendly. When I call, they're willing to get to the root of the problem, but it's been very limited. I upgraded once, and I had to pay for the upgrade. And the upgrade didn't buy me anything. If I haven't spent almost $4,000 on the system, I'd rip it out and start over with someone else.

    As far as the installation, it took over a week, and the installation team came back a couple of times. Then they got tired of me calling, and then said, “Just call AT&T directly." And that was what I would do. Then I paid for the upgrade, and that was also frustrating. All they did was put in a new panel. They didn't change the sensors. I've had the cameras changed a couple of times, but right now, one of the cameras is down and I don't have the patience or time to deal with it. I'll worry about it when I build up the stamina. It's great that I have an alarm and that if a door opens, I hear an alert that tells me that it's open. But other than that, I have zero satisfaction with the system and they're the most expensive one, too. I've had to call a ridiculous amount of times.

    I've had ADT since 2019, and so far, since I had this service started, I haven't had many issues. I didn't have any issues during the installation and the equipment is fine, but when I moved, I had a terrible time moving my account from one address to the other. I had a partial balance, and it took me six months or even longer to get to the right department who could issue the partial balance refund on my account. One time I had a sensor problem, and it took me a while to get to the right person. Customer service is not terrible overall, but it's not the best.

    I was with another company out of where I live at and they went out of business. I started with ADT, and I have had a good experience so far. When I was with the other company, I had to call each time in and out. With ADT, I just click the monitor. So it's a little easier. They reached out one time and it was something I did. It was my negligence. The service ADT gives me has been good, and I would recommend it.

    We got a system installed in our house sometime in March. When the first guy came in and did it, he didn't have all the equipment, so ADT sent another guy. He came just to finish up and he said he owed us a tilt. He said he was gonna come back, but he never did. I sent an email, and I still haven't heard from anybody. Besides that, the system works fine. I used it for three days when they first installed it, but I didn't have everything on there to make sure the house was secured. There's no sense having or paying for a system that I can't use. The sensor on the back door is not sticking to the door, so I haven't been using the security, because there's no sense if people can come through the back door. All in all though, I'm satisfied with what they've got hooked up.

    When it was my birthday, I had some balloons in the kitchen and when I was at work, I came across the call from ADT. So, I had to stop what I was doing and they said they detected my motion detector. I went to my camera and I told them it was the balloons. So I haven't had any issues with the service and if there's something going on, they will call me. I upgraded all of my stuff a couple of years ago and I wasn't aware that there was a service charge, but they took care of it for me. Aside from that, I love my Ring camera and I would tell my friends that ADT is a well-known company that provides good service and protection. It's a little pricey because the prices have gone up over 20 years, but I expected that.

    I bumped the part that detects if you have carbon monoxide in your house. I called ADT, put in the numbers on the keypad, and that reset the system. Then ADT made sure that it works. The process was very easy and didn't take but a few second. Since then, the system's performance has been good and I haven't had any problems. I would refer my friends to ADT.

    ADT is a very good company. I've had them for 38 years. A handyman took a door frame off and broke the wire. When I called ADT, they said, "The system is so old. We can't rewire that wire," which I understood. So, I said, "Put me in a new one," and I'm glad I did. I love it. The guy installed it quickly. I was surprised. He went over the new system with me and it was simple. If I need any help, I have the instructions. I've had to call them one time because I had new doors put on. And I didn't know what I needed to do with the alarm system on the doors. They were very helpful. Told me what I needed to do.

    I like the panel because I can set the thermostat, lock the door, turn the outside light off. It's all in one on the panel and I can do that stuff on my phone. However, I'm not happy ADT because I had an issue with some of my sensors on my windows, and they wanted to charge me to have somebody come out and deal with it, when their people were the ones that put them in. The rep tried to talk me through how to change the battery in the window sensors. I said, “This is your responsibility, not mine.” The system runs fine. I'm just not happy that they treat their customers this way. I shouldn't have to pay for somebody to come and check something if I'm having a problem. Also, I have to go through a ton of menus in order to talk to somebody. That's inconvenient.

    I like that it sends me alerts if there's somebody in the driveway or out in the front yard. I don't that the system doesn't record for more than two minutes. And they tell me if I want it to record longer than two minutes, I have to pay for that. I wouldn't recommend ADT to anybody. Once my contract expires, I will switch to somebody else.

    I called ADT then they showed up to the house and installed equipment. They met the timeline and the expectations I had. But I was told that the hardware was going to be compatible with Google Home and it's not. I have lots of equipment and I like to manage my house with the Google Home app. Other than that, the service has been pretty seamless so far.

    I like that I have the service and that they will call if they don't get the right answer. It's convenient for me. When I went on a vacation, I felt confident. It's usable wherever I go and if something is wrong, I can use my phone to contact them. I like that there is always a way to get in touch with them. But the last couple of times, the alarm would go off for no reason. I walked past the hallway where the light is and it went off and I was in shock. I've had it happen twice and they didn't suggest an appointment or to come out to see if anything is wrong.

    I called to cancel my account and they told me it will be cancelled once the contract ends. So it ended in October 2023 and they still didn’t cancel it. So I didn’t realize that they were still charging me for after cancellation. And I called they said I didn’t call for cancellation so they left it active. So they charged me $65 a month for 8 months. That’s $500 bucks. And they would not refund me the money because they don’t see a not for cancellation. They are stealing people's money.

    I like that ADT is a huge company and if the alarm goes off, they are great about calling right away. But I am not happy with ADT. The transition from Brinks to ADT was fine but as soon as I tried to make a change, it was five hours of my life I'll never get back on the phone with them and different people. It was back and forth. It didn't matter that I've been a good client for a long time. They finally gave us what we wanted but it hasn't been working for the past six months. The person that upsells you says one thing and when they come out they tell you that's not how it goes. It's frustrating ‘cause you already made the appointment but things are not what you agreed on.

    My experience with ADT has been horrible. I've been talking about canceling a long time ago but don't feel like going through the process. Initially, the price that I got with the military discount was good. But for the quality, it doesn't go hand in hand. The system is limited. Sometimes when you try to go on the different features, it says you can't do it. They sent people out here numerous amount of times for my cameras that keep disconnecting. I wanna be able to look back at the cameras when I'm away. You get a notification that a door is open but you can't look at them remotely and I gotta wait until I get to the cameras, unplug the power, and plug them back in. It's constant.

    One person would come out and say that the other person didn't do something right, then it would happen again. One said, "If you have any problems, just call me back on my phone so I could come back out." He did it like that so he wouldn't have any strikes on them. But when I called him, he couldn't get back out. I've talked to the manager on the phone and they even said they don't know what else to do. I lost money all these years paying for it.

    We're not that satisfied with ADT. It's one of those deals that they said that we were supposed to get a discount on our homeowner's insurance. They gave us a contract but it didn't lower our insurance. Our insurance company said that that's something ADT likes to tell people. We're stuck paying for something that we don't want because we're in a contract. They said that if we wanted out, we have to pay off the remaining part of the contract. But it's nice that they have the app to where we can have it on our phones.

    My experience with ADT has been terrible. We've been with them for more than 30 years. We had them with our business then I had them put on my house, my parents' house, and a rental property that I used to own. Every time I thought about switching, they were buying out all the other companies. I was stuck with them without any choice unless I went with one of these self-monitoring places which I didn't wanna go to.

    I have the Pulse system that I'm supposed to be able to operate from my phone. I work from home, so I have the best internet speed possible. But most of the time, my internet access to the Pulse system is offline so I can't set the alarm. When the system isn't on, I can't lock and unlock my door. Sometimes, I can't even get in my house. I've been locked out of my own house three times in the past year. I've had to now go with having a set of keys made to one of the locks. If for some reason the ADT system is not working, I have a key that I have to keep in my car or at my neighbor's house so I can get in my own house. I can't open the door if I have an emergency and need to have a neighbor come over and take care of anything.

    I had the thermostat that worked with the system. The thermostat, more often than not, was not working properly. When I spoke to them, they told me that the Nest thermostat would work with it so I invested in the Nest thermostat. When the technician came out, he said, "It'll eventually work with it, but it doesn't work with the system now." We had one of the things that we upgraded to which was one of those fancy keypads that you can take with you from room to room. It stopped working so I called and told them about it. I fought with them and had a technician come out. He said, "We don't supply those anymore. We only have the basic keypads now." I paid $600 for that thing and it's no good.

    We own the system and have paid for maintenance on it ever since we've had it. Whenever they told us we needed a new panel or we've needed whatever it is, we've gone ahead, done whatever they suggested and paid for it. But every time I have a technician come out, even though I'm paying for maintenance, I have a $69 service call fee. I'm paying them almost $80 a month. That's a bit redundant. Every time I call them and tell them that the system is online, before they will send somebody out, I have to go through all kinds of hoops and self-diagnosis tools. Why am I self-diagnosing when I'm paying for maintenance? If they're gonna charge me a service call, I need a technician to come out. I'm 70 years old. I don't wanna have to get down on my hands and knees, crawl around and try to find all the switches. That's not my job. That's what I pay them for.

    ADT was good back when I first got them but I'm not particularly happy with them now. The service is not what it used to be. The customer has to do too much of the work and the repairs, and the rates for the service have increased. The people who have been with them the longest ought to get some special consideration. I get why they give that to a person who is new and is just enrolling in the program. But there's no reward for being a long-time member. They lump us all into one pot called customers and we're treated all the same, which is wrong.

    They also ought to recognize that everybody can't do the same things for these systems, especially when they have senior people enrolled. They told me I could change the battery but I told them that it's in the ceiling which would require me to get on a ladder. They didn't seem to have a problem with that at all but I'm 76 years old and I live by myself. Other than that, I like the ability to secure the house while I'm in in at night and be able to move around the house.

    I bought a house and shortly after I moved in, there were people that came from ADT that said that the previous owner had already had ADT. They said they could give me a discount if I was to sign up with them and I really like the free installment. I got the two outside cameras, some of the window alarms, and a sensor in the kitchen. The system functions really good. The only problem that I have out of it is when I arm it and my cat walks in the kitchen, it sets off the kitchen sensor. I have to disarm it and if not, the cops are gonna get called. I have the app on my phone and I get the notifications so I pay attention to it throughout the day. Also, I like the motion detector, even though it gets set off a lot, especially by bugs. It lets me know if anybody's at my house while I'm not there and it gives me peace of mind. And the cameras are pretty clear. Sometimes they lag a little bit, but that could be my Wi-Fi or even whenever I'm at my store, it could be that as well.

    I've had ADT for many years and it's been good with their service team. But the last year I've had it, half of the system is not working and up until the last eight months, usually if there's a problem, it's resolved within 24 hours. Right now, I'm still waiting for them to decide what they're gonna do about replacing the system. But I'd tell others to get it. My favorite feature is being able to use the app on my phone to control the system.

    It seems like when there's an alarm, it takes them forever to call. Also, we've added stuff to it. There were some things that we needed, that we felt we didn't have enough coverage on.     ADT has been absolutely horrendous. When they set up the Ring doorbell, they didn't tell me that it needed to be a 24-volt transformer instead of a 16-volt transformer. It kept on dropping out and the battery would not charge. I put a new transformer in and it still didn't work. I found that out through somebody else who had the same problem. The installation people didn't do a very good job because they just let it slide. Also, the products don't work. I have three different video cameras and two of them don't work and one of them is off-line. They've tried to help, but when I set up the phone call, they missed calling on the time that they were supposed to call.

    I'm in the process of getting rid of ADT because their service and their support are so bad. They're a lot of talk and don't follow up on what they say. I've been switching everything over to Ring cameras and I'm going to downgrade my service with ADT to have only the doors and the alarm when you enter the house and I'm gonna change over to somebody else for that too.

    For the most part, the system of ADT has been good. I had one that I'm having trouble with. But a rep came out and fixed the problem. It's okay now. I feel more secure with ADT in operation.     I hate ADT. I asked them to come and show me how to work the system. I don't know how to use it, and they have not explained it to me. They sent the guy out here, and he said that if he walked through my house, he was gonna be charging me. The lady told me when I got it that I didn't have to pay for it.     My experience with ADT was bad. All my sensors went down. I never got contacted by ADT. I got notified on my phone but no calls from the service. Also, when some other systems went down, it took me three days to get a tech out here. They were all small things. And it was not a good match. Too much reliance on the website and not much reliance on people. When ADT took over from Guardian, they never offered any information, services. It was months before I got an email from them. So, I was not happy with the company itself. Go with another service.

    ADT is very expensive. The monitoring service stinks. Hardly a day goes by that I don't wanna just terminate ADT. If I get an alarm or accidentally set off an alarm, I get a text. Supposed I'm not where my cell phone is, and I don't get that text. So, it's not good for the money that I'm paying for it. And the monitoring service is all I'm paying for. I'm not paying for hardware. I've already done all that. Also, if I had a hardware issue, it would be very expensive to get it repaired. I have the plus system with the cameras. And I've had some issues with that.

    ADT came with my house when I bought it in 1994. They upgraded it from a wired landline system to a cellular system. Everything works well. When there are any problems, they can always get somebody to come out and service it within a day. The techs were always knowledgeable of the system and they can pull up reports really quick and easy on any past repairs so they can stay in the loop with what anybody else had done prior. ADT is a good alarm monitoring system and a good way to keep your home safe. Their customer service people are always nice. They're very polite and quick to look everything up and try and resolve our issue as quick as possible. The website is very handy and gives me good updates.

    I'm stopping services with ADT because somebody was coming into my house and stole things three times, and I contacted them about the issue, and they blew it off. They never sent a technician. And after three times, I said enough is enough. So, I'm canceling the service. They were just like, “Well, that's not possible.” The alarm was still set when I came home. So, somebody is bypassing it and somehow getting around it. I said, “So there's something going on that they know how to get around the alarm to disarm it and then rearm it or whatever while they're there.” I never got one alert while I was gone that this happened.

    ADT kept trying to tell me that it wasn't possible. It's possible because I didn't have a typical landline like those through the telephone company. My landline was over the internet through Charter Spectrum. It is separate. So, it wasn't tied directly in. It had its own component where somebody couldn't just hack your router and then disable it that way but apparently, somebody knew how to disarm it.

    We just recently changed the locks, and then I called ADT and told them I'm canceling the service. When I told them that, then they were willing to send somebody out, and then they kept pushing to send somebody out. I said, “It's funny, I called you several times on this issue each time it happened, and you weren't willing to send anybody then, but you're willing to send somebody now that I'm canceling. It's a little too late.” It’s not good service.

    I've had ADT my whole life. They're trusted more than anybody else. They're the main alarm company. What I'm paying for it, I wish it wasn't that expensive but I'm getting everything monitored from the alarm to smoke detectors to carbon. It's just billing quarterly is rough, but I make it do. The ADT installation team was out not too long ago here at the house. They walked through everything with me. They set my alarm for me, but trying to get them to come out is like pulling teeth, which is not good.

    I'm very satisfied when I get what I want. When I don't, they don't listen and I have to argue with them and scream and yell over the phone because they want it done their way, and that's a no-no. I'm the customer. To have them come out, I had to scream and yell at them and tell them, “Hey, I'm not gonna call and walk myself through it on the phone. You need to come out and have your tech come out and do it, just reset the alarm system, check everything, make sure everything is working.” Then I paid for it. I paid for my bill. They took it 10 days later, which is not good. When they took it, I had to scramble because I had other bills coming out. I wish there was more to come with the package like the keyless entry they have. That should be a given. That should be free. That shouldn't have to be, “Oh, you need to pay for that now.” I'm not gonna get it now because I can't afford it.

    I'd recommend ADT but I don't like how they bill. I got charged twice for it. I told them if they were gonna take any money out of my check out for this ADT, to make sure they took it out on the 3rd of each month. So then, three days after that, I called the bank and asked them what the charge was for, and it was ADT. They were done taking out one time that month, but they said it was something for the equipment. They said they charged you twice and one was the equipment, and one was for the service.

    I had to have some man come back out here when the thing popped off the back door. Every time I go out the door, that little old thing up at the top would fall. I had come in the living room and we were sitting down watching television. All of a sudden, that thing popped off the door, and I took tape and I taped it. Then the guy came out here and he fixed it. They were gonna send me a glue box. I finally got it about two months after that.

    I'm still trying to learn the ADT app and pulling up my cameras but other than that, the system is working okay. So far, so good. The rep came in. After he's asked a question of where I want the cameras, he went to work and then reiterated after putting the cameras up, if that's exactly where I wanted it at. It went rather smoothly. The installation wasn't a rush job. He crossed all the T’s and dotted all the I’s, and in my opinion, he was professional, so I do like that.

    I was at work one time and there was a false alarm. There wasn't a fire going on in my house. My wife tried to call and get it rectified, and she ran into a brick wall because she wasn't the primary on the account. That was a little frustrating, because as a homeowner, you would think that your wife should be able to call a security company and say, “Hey, look. My husband’s at work. Blah, blah, blah.” They didn't wanna give her access to the account because she's not the primary. That's something that ADT needs to look into.

    As far as the features, I like everything that it’s doing so far. Other than that one glitch, I'm not having any issues, so I'm satisfied with the ADT system so far. It is performing to the standard that it was designed to perform. I could possibly get some extra cameras in the future. The website isn't too complicated. It's easy for me to do what I need to do and pick out what I wanted to pick out, and make the appointment. As far as the overall price, I'm okay with it. It's under $100.

    I called ADT and it was not a good experience. At first, I was told an astronomical fee of $285 a month for a system so I checked out other companies and then somehow, I got back to ADT and they offered a rate that was reasonable so I went with them. But not too long ago, I had an incident. I had had a flood downstairs and there were wires being fed through the door downstairs to a plug in my garage. The little thing on the wall said I couldn't set the alarm because the garage door was open. I went down, verified the garage door was closed tightly, came back up, and it wouldn't let me turn my alarm on for the night.

    I called and I got this guy who got me back to the screen where I can set the alarm. I set the alarm but 45 minutes later, the alarm went off in my house. I heard it start beeping, it was just starting its high pitched wail, and I put in my code and it shut itself down. I got an email saying someone will contact me the next day at 2:30. They called and I explained. They said they'd have to send the technician out for some kind of price but I don't think I should be billed for it. I don't plan on keeping ADT and I'd tell others to use someone else.

    A lot of times, if we have problems with our cameras, we can have a virtual call and ADT's rep can walk us through the problems, and we can fix them pretty much ourselves. It's rare that we have to have a service technician out here. But they're easy to deal with and the problems that we have get fixed very quickly. I've also found that their system works reliably. We've had some problems with one of our outdoor cameras and that has been fixed. When we're in our other home, those cameras help us keep an eye on our home down here in Florida. But their price keeps inching up every year with no added value.

    The process for upgrading my ADT system was fairly straightforward. I wanted to add cameras and other features to what we had. ADT is the best for right now based on what I had at my home in J town. The system is working and I like the cameras, the features, and the repair service. I wouldn't change it. I like the cost, too. I have Wi-Fi in my home and one time, for some reason, it kept dropping out and I kept getting an error on my system. So, I called ADT, then I had a technician to call me back and walk me through what I needed to do and to disable the Wi-Fi. Then I realized that one of the cameras didn't work. So, they walked me through fixing that. I unplugged it and let it sit for a number of minutes, then plugged it back in and everything was normal.

    So I'm getting good service but it's hard to get a technician in case something happens. And I have to schedule four days to get someone out here to look at the system. Other than that, I'd tell my friends to get ADT. I would indicate what features I have, how many cameras and where they're located, the monitoring of it, and the cost of it.

    ADT told me that I needed a new battery for my panel, so I bought the battery. But they wanted me to put it in. I am a senior citizen and I'm not techno savvy. I shouldn't be required to do something like that. I used to have them years ago and I had the same problem when it got to the point that I had to put up a motion sensor. When I want somebody to come out to do something at the house, I shouldn’t have to go through the fifth degree in order to get somebody to come out. Then you're going to have to pay them if they do come out, which doesn't make any sense to me when it's their product that I'm using and I'm paying for. So, I let them go and had got with somebody else. But I came back and so far, the service has been good.

    When my equipment was installed, the young man was very courteous and kind. He showed me all the stuff I needed to do and how to interact with the system, and I didn't have a problem with that. I'm also very satisfied with the features of my package. The equipment is beautiful and it works like it's supposed to. The price is good, too. The other people I had were cheaper than them, but I don't understand why you have to charge the $10 at the end of the month.

    I've been with ADT for about 21 years and as time went on, I had to add things to my package. They make it easy now with the new stuff and I feel safer than I did when I didn't have it at all. When their techs had to come out, they were pretty good. I told my friends that they need to get ADT as well because I pay a reasonable price for the monitoring and stuff I get.     I've only spoken with the reps twice throughout the time of my service that I've had ADT and they don't give me the runaround. The customer support is good. I've done the chat on the website and I've gotten the answers that I needed from the support employees right away. I've gotten calls that I don't know if I can trust, saying I need to give them this information. I felt like it was a scam. But I contacted ADT directly and they were able to give me the information that it wasn't them and that they wouldn't do that kind of stuff. The installation was quick and straightforward. This has probably been over seven years now and the system is great. I can control it with my phone, which is what I like. I don't have to carry the remote fobs or have to go straight to the panels. I could deactivate it when I want and activate it when I forget. I rely on the ADT system a lot and I can count on it.

    I have a system that has never worked to my satisfaction since the day ADT hooked it up. Dealing with the reps has been aggravating. ADT has motion detectors in the rooms and we have dogs. So we can't use the system to its fullest when we leave because the system doesn't allow for bypassing. When we tried to bypass, we set off the alarm. So, we've had a tech out here a couple of times. But every time we call for a technician, it cost us. It used to cost us $59 each time but I don't know what it costs now because I refused to call them. I'm just waiting for a point where I can cancel the monitoring. The monitoring fee is now up to over $53 a month and when I first started with ADT, it was $12 a month. Now it's outrageous.

    The customer service doesn't address things. They just listen and tell you their spiel. They’re telling you things that they know you wanna hear, but ADT doesn't live up to them. The system does not work the way that it was designed. It has the audio where if something's open, it tells you what it is. But a lot of times, it misidentifies. The technician has been out here and he fooled with it for a while. It worked when he left and the next day it was doing it again.

    I had ADT in Ohio and I'm in Arizona now, and ADT out here is a different ball game. My experience hasn't been that great. They’re not efficient and it’s hard to get service. The equipment wasn’t working well and half of the time, it wasn't working. I paid for the equipment in advance because I am a senior citizen on a fixed income and I didn't want the bill to go up any higher than it was. I had problems with several pieces of the equipment that I paid for and ADT would not take it back or bring out new ones. They did not reimburse me and each time, they told me it was the battery. I haven't had this stuff long enough for it to act like this. And they said they can't take the equipment back. The customer service reps always complain and need help to do something.

    I spend a lot of time still in Ohio and when I'm gone, I'm gone sometimes for four weeks and I got to know that the house is safe. But I don't feel safe. And I told them that before. You feel like you're stuck here, especially if you're a woman by yourself. I'm a single woman and a senior citizen. I live in my home a lot. I bought this equipment from ADT maybe a year and a half ago and the portable units that I'm complaining about haven't worked since I had it. I wasn't able to set the alarm and disconnect the alarm with it. ADT is one more part of sucking the life out of me because they're not performing like they should. Half the time when the installation team would come out, they would say it takes two people to do certain things. They knew all this and they sent one person out. They had excuses all the time.

    The customer service reps were not around after we purchased the system from ADT. We have to seek them out. I pay almost $50 a month and I get nothing. The only thing I get out of it is a discount on my homeowners’ insurance. Most of the time, I don't even turn it on. So no, I'm not happy. All we’ve got are the front door and back door units, and the keypad with the key fob. It’s minimal and simple. The sign is the biggest deterrent, which was one of the things that I wanted. My husband is retired law enforcement and we've always had a burglar alarm. So when we moved here, I knew that ADT was around.

    Previous to ADT, I've always had a police officer who put burglar alarms on the side put in the alarm system. But that alarm system wasn't monitored. I wanted a monitored system so we got ADT. At one point, I asked them if they had a discount for senior citizens and they said no. Paying $50 a month for just having it doesn't impress me. But I'm forced to because I have to have it for my insurance.

    I had some problems with the ADT system a couple of months ago, and they came in and put a brand-new system in for me and made sure I knew how to work it. It was very helpful. The new system is easy to understand once you know what you're doing, and it's really helpful to walk away from home, thinking that you have the system to protect you. I like that it always works and it's always there. Also, if you need to get in contact with them, you just need to make a phone call, tell them what you want, and they send people out.

    I purchased a security system for my 95 year old mom. I called ADT and received a quote, equipment $1,145 and monthly monitoring fee of $54 a month. I asked ADT if I owned the equipment and they said yes, absolutely. They came out and installed the system 6 days ago, 5/7/2024. I received a docusign from ADT a couple days later stating that ADT owns the equipment. I got on their live chat and chatted with their live agent, she looked at the account and said that I did indeed own the equipment, I said I wanted that in writing, she said I would get it in the mail. I also asked for a receipt of what I paid and she emailed it to me but not that I owned the equipment so I called customer service. The person I spoke to confirmed that I owned the equipment and to ignore the docusign.

    Today I get another docusign from ADT stating ADT owns the equipment. Again on live chat they assure me I own the equipment, I ask them to stop sending me a contract stating they own the equipment, they pass me to someone else who assures me I own the equipment. I call and ask to speak to a manager, they refuse. Then I speak to a person in their corporate “presidential support” team I believe her name was Rochelle. They refused to let me speak to a manager and she tells me that ADT does own the equipment and that all 5/6 ADT employees were wrong. I have them coming out to take their system out of my mom’s house and canceling their service.

    I would give them no stars, if possible. Their equipment is expensive and UNRELIABLE, defeating their purpose. Monthly cost is high. They receive most of their money through debt collection. They are like big pharma for the security industry. Good luck.

    I've had nothing but issues with ADT. It first started the day I got their services, the technician came out and went over equipment options with me. Once I decided on what I wanted he had me sign the contract and began installing only to install the door sensors and then tell me that I need to have an electrician come out to install the cameras. My house is already fully wired for the devices from the previous owners with ADT equipment already there but we were updating. So after being tricked into a contract to then be told that I need to spend more money to have an electrician come out and install the cameras from ADT, that is issue number one.

    2, their auto payment system is jacked. They hadn't pulled a payment in a couple months and then decide to pull everything at once. No notices, email, letter in the mail etc. They just pulled payment when they wanted. There was no issues with account on my end there was an issue with the system in which the service rep confirmed with me and I was also charged late fees. The equipment is crap, there is such a lag in the sensors. The cameras (when they work) glitch all the time. If you're thinking about getting ADT save yourself the trouble and just don't. They don't even have their own equipment they use google products. You can save yourself a lot of headache and just buy from google but honestly their floodlight cameras suck so I would look at other options.

    In my opinion: Be careful who ADT matches you up with as a "3rd party" vendor to install your stuff. They gave us "Safe Street" and they are a Terrible company. They "bait and switch" us on the cost of the monthly monitoring service to get you in, then may God help you. They gave me a total amount for the service I would be paying and then the monthly payment comes and it's now PLUS taxes and fees. When I called to clarify with the customer service people (from both ADT and Safe Street) they put me on hold and then disconnected me when I asked to talk with a manager. I ended up wasting 45 minutes of my time trying to deal with this incompetent company.

    ADT couldn't even find my account, even when I gave all the info on the letter sent from them. Finally, after 3 calls, I still didn't get a manager. Now I see all these terrible reviews for Safe Street and wish I had looked before leaping with them. ADT was NO help, almost as incompetent. Very disheartening for my "security" company. Do your search of reviews first. Good luck.

    ADT is worthless. They have had numerous complaints filed against them with the BBB. Several complaints were filed which are similar to mine. My issue was the system went offline which caused my property to be unprotected and started beeping. ADT failed to come out and fix it. I was unsuccessful in contacting ADT as they gave me the run-around. They expect consumers to pay for their services even if the system fails or goes offline. DON'T USE ADT.

    Stay away! BE WARNED! No matter your circumstances ADT will not work with you at all if you need to cancel early for any reason. I was on the phone with so many people at ADT just trying to cancel and they kept lowering the offered rate and then asking if I’d stay in contract with them. I had to tell them SO MANY times that I just wanted to cancel and I was NOT interested in lowering the rate. STAY AWAY from this company. There have got to be better security companies out there.

    My experience with ADT started May 28, 2019. I signed up with them on the phone using the electronic online sign up and gave them my financial info to be used. The services were quoted less any fees associated. Since I had checked other service companies, I was aware of other fees, so I asked the agent several times about this and was promised no other fees of any type would be included. I documented the conversation as such. Not being completely satisfied with this promise, I told the agent to put everything on hold until I could get a copy of the contract, which they could not provide on line?? Again, I documented the conversation and asked to have it sent through the mail for my OK and signature.

    One week later, the contract arrived, back dated and with my signature forged on the contract. I immediately called and cancelled the proposal based on the forgery and price change. Later, I received a demand letter wanting some $1,170.13. Again, I called them and received the runaround. Sometime in Nov of 2023 the forged contract was taken to small claims court without service to me, which is required by law under oath of the service executed, which never occurred. None of the small claim's info was ever provided to me till this date, as I've not been unable to ascertain the info even with the court's help??. Consequently, my retirement was diminished by the 1.1K awarded by the court. WARNING: If you use this company know that you could be scammed like me.

    "Absolutely terrible experience with ADT security! We had their system installed for two years, from 2021 to 2023, and it was a complete disaster from day one. The system barely operated for a month before constant failures started occurring. Despite multiple calls for assistance, all we got were temporary fixes that never lasted more than a couple of days.

    When we decided to cancel the service, we were assured by ADT that we would only need to pay the $900 equipment fees and that the $1,000 early termination fees would be waived. However, months later, they went back on their word and came after us through a collections company for the $1,000 early termination fees they initially promised we wouldn't have to pay. None of the components of the system worked as expected - windows and door sensors, outdoor cameras, detectors, flood detectors - none of it stayed online! The recording device was dysfunctional, the online app was unusable, leaving only the keypad door locks somewhat functional.

    Their call center wait times were insufferable, consistently over an hour, making it nearly impossible to get help promptly. ADT's deceitful practices and complete disregard for customer satisfaction are beyond frustrating. They are nothing but a pack of liars and snakes preying on unsuspecting customers. I wouldn't wish this atrocious service on my worst enemy. If you are even remotely considering a security company, steer clear of ADT at all costs. Save yourself the headache, the disappointment, and the money. They are a complete rip-off, and their shady business practices deserve to be exposed. I refuse to pay a single cent out of principle to this disgrace of a company!"

    ADT has not been the greatest. Everything went fine with installation. They put sensors on all the windows on the lower levels, and that was fine. However, even though I paid for the sensors that I was getting, as the guy started to install, he said, "I would really do this and I would do that." The installer was a nice guy, but the salesperson that I initially had to talk to is a brother to one of the installers, and that didn't help me.

    The sales representatives were unethical and liars. I've been in my home since June of '22, so it hasn't been a full two years yet. The guy told me I'm not under a contract, but when I looked at my invoice, I'm on some type of contract, so if I ever try to leave, ADT can charge me. Another thing is ever since the camera was installed, there have been problems with it. When the wind is blowing, the doorbell is ringing. They've turned it down. I also cut down a huge tree because they said that the branches were causing the doorbell to ring. There's no tree there anymore, and the doorbell still rings randomly whenever it wants.

    When somebody does ring the doorbell, I look at my phone to see who's at the door and it takes forever that it never opens to say who it is to the point that I just holler out the window, "Who is it?" I got tired of calling ADT. "Oh, they're gonna send me to technical support." One lady got mad and snapped at me and hung up. It was one thing after the other. I would tell people to get anything else but ADT. They're not keeping up with what's going on in the world today.

    This review is for the closure of my ADT account. I spoke with a customer service rep to negotiate the past due amount and close the account with 4 payments (1 immediately and 3 over the next 3 months). One week later I received and email from ADT requesting more than agreed upon. I called and was treated very poorly. Once the customer service rep discovered the agreed upon amount from the week previous, she said the system had been updated to reflect the difference. She also game me an excuse that was unlikely. I asked her to have ADT email me the agreed amount going forward. She said that ADT will not do that. I pleaded that a couple of sentences from a supervisor would suffice.

    Again, she said not going to happen and check the account on the website to pay going forward. I was very disappointed to have ADT react to my request after getting screwed on the amount. Very important to always get something in writing when settling a debt or disputed amount. I told her no more payments would be sent until I received confirmation on this. She said I could pay or not pay. The rep was condescending and talked over me. This experience will keep me from every using ADT again.

    The ADT system does what it's supposed to do. It monitors the house, alerts where it needs to when doors are open or doors that should be locked aren't locked. I once came out of the bedroom at 3 in the morning and went into the kitchen for water, which is not something I normally do. I got an alert the next morning that at 3 that morning, somebody was in my kitchen. My wife and I use the app on the phone and it works fine too. We can control the environmental system. We can open and unlock doors. Recently, I had a problem with a couple of sensors, and ADT diagnosed it as failed sensor and system reset. However, they sent the wrong sensors on three occasions until we got it right. Once we got the right sensor, we were able to get it back online.

    I am not mechanically-inclined and have nine-foot ceilings. I was a little concerned that I was gonna go up on a ladder to deal with a sensor that was nine-foot high. When I bought my home and they sold me the system, I would have never guessed that I'd be changing out a sensor. I understand there are things that can be corrected over the phone. I'm fine with that. We were able to diagnose that the system needed to be reset and that sensor started to work. But when I spend close to $60 a month, I expect someone to come to my home and maintain the system, and I don't expect being charged hundreds of dollars to do that. $85 an hour and $60 in gas fees for a technician to come out is ridiculous. If I knew going in that I was gonna have to maintain the system, change my own battery, replace sensors (there are close to 30 sensors in this house), I would just have gone to Best Buy and bought a Ring system.

    One of the worst customer service experiences ever... Their business model makes it almost impossible to cancel their service, 19 months after selling our house and canceling our service they are still billing our account. We have spent hours on the phone trying to resolve, and I have no confidence that they actually will resolve it. They knew our account was cancelled, called every month trying to reestablish service at our new home. The new owners transferred the service, so ADT is charging twice for the same house. Got to the point to having to dispute the charges with our bank, our bank credited our account to only have ADT charge for 4 months of service again last month. Honestly, save yourself the trouble... better to have people break into your house and steal your stuff than have these people stealing money out of your pocket fraudulently.

    I’m giving only 1 star due to the fact I was never told about a 3 year contract and to cancel my contract because of high inflation and not able to afford it cost me a little over $900 to cancel my contract I was never told about! This is an absolute rip off and uncalled for especially at times like this. They won’t even do payments for the cancellation.

    A couple times we've had to call ADT recently about different issues. Not too long ago, we had an issue with the bill. They were charging me an extra dollar on my bill, which is crazy especially since it's set up as an automatic draft. They finally took care of it yesterday. They said, "Disregard it. You shouldn't have gotten that notice." Our biggest problem with it is when we try to call, it takes forever to get ahold of somebody. Even when we try to call because there's a problem with the alarm going off, we can't get ahold of anybody. If the house was on fire, the house would burn down before anybody ever answered the phone. It's really annoying. You can't ever get ahold of anybody.

    All in all, I'm ambivalent about the system. It's not really user-friendly. You can't talk to anybody about what the problem is. You gotta figure it out yourself. Then when you call, you can't get ahold of anybody. Usually, if we wanna do anything, we have to call somebody because we can't figure out what it is we're supposed to be doing. Then again, we have to go through the process of, "Press this button. Press that button. Our call waiting is 10 minutes or 30 minutes” or “We'll have to call you back." The customer service really stinks.

    ADT's customer service is terrible. The right hand never knows what the left is doing. I've had to make several calls. You get people whose English can't be understood when they're talking. Their billing is messed up. I stay with them because I trust them, but their customer service stinks. They got the installation wrong. I was in one house for 30-some years. I moved, and it was supposed to be a transfer. The man that came up set me up as if I was a new customer and they changed my account number. Now, when I call, they think I've only been a member for a couple of years. ADT has gotten too big for their britches.

    I'm not really satisfied with the ease of using the online contact list. There needs to be a lot more direction on how to use it. It seems like it's changed a little bit for trying to have who can come and take over while I'm gone if I have a pet sitter or something like that. Doing things online for leaving on vacation or moving people around as contacts has not been very easy. And to try and find directions on how to move people up and down on the contact is not there. There's no direction whatsoever.

    Also, I am surprised that when we had power outage, it sounded like ADT didn't even know about it. Supposedly, there's a regular check that happens every morning at 3:20 and for a while, that wasn't happening. For 65 bucks, all I'm getting is the monitoring. I don't have cameras and any other special electronics. It's a hardwired system and I probably will be looking to going cellular or getting something that is less dependent on a landline, because my landline went out. It did help one time. Someone tried to break in and the siren chased them off. It was definitely worth the 16 years of keeping someone out of my house.

    The system periodically has some problem and it takes a while to get things resolved. I have a situation right now that I've been trying to resolve it for quite some time, where there's a malfunction in the system. I had gotten a call from them that they said that they would be sending somebody out. Also, we pay an added fee to have maintenance done if we have to call them and when we do use it, they still charge us anyway so I don't understand how that service fee works.

    The alarm kept going off like at 2:00 in the morning and on some mornings, at 5:00 or 7:00 am. My dog was walking, so I figured it was a false alarm. But I would go online and work with the tech. We’d get it reset and try to figure out which sensor it was. He told me they had to make a record of so many of those occurrences before they could send a tech out.

    Part of the problem was it turned out some of the sensors were mislabeled so when I was talking to the tech on the phone at the middle of the night, we thought we were sure which sensor it was and it made it complicated. When a tech came out after I had four or five more of those, he figured that out, relabeled everything, and replaced the sensor. The tech was wonderful but the biggest complaint I had is it was quite disturbing at the time in the morning it was going off. They were pretty sure in the other end of the line that it was not a break-in but it was a period of a lot of anxiety for me. Sometimes I just wouldn't set it so it wouldn't go off at 3 o'clock in the morning but that's not a happy way to be. But it's been fine ever since and I am feeling more reassured now. Everybody tried to be really helpful.

Previously, I had a run-in with one of the managers about a service guy that was servicing my equipment. The control panel was breaking down a lot. After the guy serviced my control panel and left my location, his supervisor called and asked me a lot of questions about what the serviceman did, when he was here, and what time he left.     My system is easy to set. If you set it off, ADT is quick with calling you to double-check and make sure that you're not being robbed. However, I wanted to add some cameras but didn't like the way they wanted to charge me for monitoring them. I'd like it if I could pay them for the cameras for the install. Since everything's put on my phone, why do they have to monitor them when I can monitor it myself? Other than that, I'm happy with it.

    The app is good, and I like the ability to have all the cameras and be able to be contacted if anything arises at home. The technicians are usually good as well, but the technical support people are not good at all. They don't understand what it is that we want. The only reason we keep ADT is it works well. It has alarms and backups, and it secures the house. If it wasn't for that, I would go with the easy to install home units that people can buy on Amazon. The monitoring is too expensive, and they never ever call us as an older customer for an upgrade or to take care of us.

    The representatives are always friendly, but sometimes it could be a bit cumbersome to get someone regarding the specific question or issue I might have. Compared to some other businesses, I could get ahold of a person, which is good. But it could take some phone trees, wait times, callbacks and transfers. The most used feature is the ability to have the app and be able to arm and disarm from my phone. In terms of a non-frequently used feature, the ability to direct call emergency services if something goes wrong is also very much appreciated.     Sometimes ADT works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I get it way after I should. And it is what it is. I'm in my location where it is for seven months, and I go away. I have two homes. It's hard when it doesn't work. The reps would say, "We'll report the issue and somebody will get back to you." But nobody else would get back to me. And it's very hard when I'm in Florida. My thing would go off, there would be someone in my backyard. I would try to look it up but it would not come up. It's problematic. My daughter brought a hammer with her once because I couldn't see. It showed there was somebody there. I couldn't make it out but she could. I've called ADT and they don't know what to help me with. They don't have people who know what they're doing all the time. Maybe it's just the peak hours.

    The batteries in the kitchen were out after six months. Every time I called, if I wanted ADT to put the battery in, it would be 40 bucks. That's ludicrous. They should do checks to see how their work is doing. I count on them when I'm in Florida, but it hasn't worked out well. I've got kids live near me. I could easily say, "Go to the house and see what's going on." But the installation went well.

    I had ADT installed for the first time in my first house back in 2011. I had to give them my information, my address at the time, and my reasons for wanting ADT. Set aside some time. I work from home, so, I had to let my managers know I would be out of pocket for a couple of hours while they installed and got everything right. Other than that, it was flawless. I had cameras in the front and back of the house, and the system inside where every time you open the door or window, it would chime and say something like, “Front door open,” or “Back door open.” I like them.     Once in a while, my ADT alarm would go off and they'd call me. Many of them are false and their response time was good. But for the value that one gets, ADT's rates are too high and I'm not 100% happy with them. I don't need much and I also have cameras which I rely more on. This is just an additional layer of protection. I initially went with them because they were best known but in retrospect, I'd probably go with something else where I have more options.

    Let’s start by saying the service isn’t good anymore. Cameras are always out. I called to get my back cameras repaired and the customer service rep sends my call to an another department to waive the fee of coming out. First why should we have to pay for crappy equipment to be repaired, second they charged me anyway and the problem was and still is a glitch in their application the reason I can’t see recordings. Never leave a credit or debit card attached to your account. You will have fraudulent charges and accounts you don’t own being charged to your account. Don’t order anything because they will try and renew your contract if you have one. Get everything in writing emailed to you and PLEASE READ IT OVER. This company is very crooked. I DON'T RECOMMEND ADT TO NO ONE. Be aware of the scams they present.

    ADT used to be the best company I dealt with and the reps were very professional. My experience was very good up until January. On one call, I probably talked to six different people. I was on the phone for two hours and this first guy had made the deal. I put 104 towards ADT on my Discover card and he said he was gonna use it to go towards the equipment. But I stopped payment. The guy who installed the alarm system said I was not gonna have to pay anything and said that when he gets back, he would make sure it’s removed. But it never got removed. I got screwed. But a rep called saying I owe them money. I didn't owe one quarter. I sent a check to them. I would not recommend ADT to anybody because it's totally unprofessional the way they handle things.

    The system is in my mother's house. She has locked herself in the house for the night but ADT told me when she closed the closet door, it set the alarm off. I got a 1-800 number and I didn't know who it was but it was ADT. She called me and said that they called, and she's okay. She likes it. As long as she does, I’ll like it for her. The main reason that I got her on ADT is because I had never had a dime worth the trouble out of them and now they got these foreigners on there you can't understand. I need somebody I can understand.

    As long as I recommend somebody, it’s a $250 card but I never got the first one. I've gotten tired of them sending me deals to recommend somebody. And the reason I won't recommend anybody is because the way I was doing this alarm system. And when you're on the phone with them, you're gonna be on there an hour and a half or two hours like you don't have anything to do. There's no way you should be on the phone that long and be transferred four people at a time. The lady told me they got something done. She said you ask for the Loyalty department and they would straighten this stuff out right away. So, I don't even mess with those people anymore when I call.

    Everybody at ADT has always been very helpful and very professional. That's one of the things that I like about it. The price keeps going up, and I've called a couple of times, and they've been able to help me with lowering the price. I've had to have people come out and change batteries or check on things because they were not working well. As far as the installation, it took a lot longer than they had told me it was gonna take but they did a good job. They reviewed what they were doing with me as far as what the monitors were, the difference between the glass break one and the opening of a door or window type. They cleaned up after themselves, too.

    Customer service has always been very good, and I'm happy with the system. Occasionally, I have batteries that go out, and it's difficult for me to change it because the battery is difficult to get to. The way that you remove the cover, sometimes it's not something that I can do. Plus, I have to get up on a ladder. I'm elderly, and I don't like to have to do that.

    We used ADT 20 years ago and when we moved to Florida, the previous security provider we had in North Carolina wasn't available down here. So, we chose to go with ADT. I did everything online and they scheduled the installer. Their website was good. The installation was not great, though. The original ADT website connected me to a contractor in the area instead of it going directly through ADT. I've talked to ADT and I don't understand why this happened. But essentially, I'm paying ADT and ADT pays this contractor a monthly fee. So, I'm paying more for my ADT services than most people would because it's not going directly through ADT. It's going through this contractor even though ADT does all the servicing of it. It's very weird.

    Unfortunately, when the installer came out here, he divulged that he was with this contractor and I was like, "Hold on. No. This is supposed to be ADT direct." He said, "No, you signed up with us, not with ADT." So, it was very confusing and very frustrating at the time. I had already paid a significant amount for the installation, so I had them do it. As far as the system, it's been working fine aside from some minor issues with WiFi connectivity. Otherwise, everything's been working great and I'm happy with it.

    I asked the ADT tech rep three times to give me the price quote for the pan-tilt-zoom, the PTZ cameras, and he just said that they're very expensive, and that he never installed one before. I said, “Well, I understand that, but I know what I need and I know what I'm looking for. And if you have it, please do it.” Then he said, “Well, I'm not trying to talk you out of it, but it's very, very expensive.” From that standpoint, without being too prideful, I think that could be taken a couple different ways. People get hung up on, “Well, it's too expensive and so I can't pay for it.” But that gave me no information. I was expecting him to be exact because that was what I was around for the last 20 years of my career. I was wondering why he was not answering the question.

    I even told him what my background was, and that didn't seem to help so I was very confused by that. Then I was getting pushed back from him because I wanted everything to be hardwired, and he said, “Well, we don't really normally do that. What we do is we do Wi-Fi and we hook it up to your router and that's it.” I said, “Well, I could do that. The reason why I called you guys is because you're professional, and I don't want that, and I don't have a router. I don't have Wi-Fi I don't run it, and I need it to be hardwired.” I don't think he's no longer with the company. I assumed that he quit after a little while.

    The installation went well. The guy had a team of three and they had a meeting in my basement because they didn't understand, they were doing a home pre-install, and the contractors are there and everything's ripped out, and then they just kind of wire things up the drywall. It took him 15 minutes to try to get past the frustration that I wanted him to do this. I said, “You guys are professionals and I know you can do it, and that's what I need you to do.” He was reluctant, but he had them come out, and it took two days.

    From the standpoint of longevity, the app is glitchy. If it's a person walking from right to left, there’s a delay and they travel 10 feet in three seconds, and that's not possible. So, I need ADT to update their app. I always try to make sure that I do the updates with the app.

    I need to call ADT because I would like to get the pan-tilt-zoom even now, after all this time, because I can't read license plates from my field of view, and so that's a capability issue. I also need them to climb up there and I need them to clean the lenses.

    Overall, after the installation, there's a good fit and finish, and there was good attention in the detail. Because after it left the hands of the rep that I had an issue with, they did a good job and they surprised me with their understanding of how to go through the walls and what not to hit, and that they had the correct tools and there was forethought. They were professional and were quick. As far as the system, it takes at least eight seconds for it to load when I turn the primary monitor on. I had to get used to a slower pace with things. I'm used to being around cameras and looking at them. Every part of the process came with a level of frustration that I wasn't expecting that there would be one.

    So, for the people who are looking for Wi-Fi, it's just click and go. But for anybody who wants real hardware and service and an install, it's a different story, so there's different aspects to it, and, and I don't know if my experience really reflects ADT as a whole. Their customer service is good. I wish the monthly payment was a little bit lower, but there's not much to complain about there. There's just no follow-up. I had to reach out to them. I want an internal camera and I wanted to do an upgrade. They don't really reach out to check i. They just did the flat rate with whatever the service was. There was a lot of confusion with the bill at first because I don't know how on earth they billed the way they did, but there were three different invoices and I was getting charged several times on one credit card.

    Not a company I would recommend at all. I paid in full for a camera security system over two months ago and they have failed to deliver. The system has never worked and it has been a battle simply trying to get them to send a tech over to fix it. I have no explanation as to why it has never worked and they don't seem to care. They are seriously a fraudulent company with the horrible customer service. I would never do business with them again, and I am definitely not going to renew my business account with them.

    Getting in touch with ADT is easy. They've got an 800 number I can call, and I normally get picked up quickly. We changed out the brains of my system, so I had to learn how to activate and deactivate, and the gentleman was very efficient, informative and patient. I had to change out the keypads and all the motion detectors stayed in place. Everything went very smoothly. I'm very satisfied with the system. It fits me perfectly. The price is a little high but the value for what I paid has been good.

    ADT serves its purpose in general. However, I wanted to upgrade the equipment that's here but what they were suggesting when one of their representatives came out and looked at various areas of the house was unnecessarily expensive. They were explaining how the new system was so much better and it would provide higher level of security but I was disappointed at the price since we already have a system in here and it would just be an upgrade as opposed to buying a system as a new customer.

    There are some times when I can walk in and out of my house and the alarm does not go off. The sensors does not pick me up. I'm 5'2" and I don't think I'm tall enough that the sensors would pick me up. Other than that, we've had favorable experience with ADT. They're a company that we have been with for quite a few years. When we set up a doorbell camera, a gentleman came out and did a fantastic job walking us through setting up the information on our phone.

    We recently spoke to an agent regarding a charge on our bill. We didn't understand what it was about. The young lady's name was Jasmine and she rectified the situation. However, it's difficult to get ahold of someone at ADT. I went on Google to get a telephone number for ADT, but all I got was a chat service. I chatted with a gentleman and told him what I wanted. He told me I would have to call the 800 number. I called that number and spoke to a young lady who told me she couldn't handle it, but she would have someone call our home. A gentleman called. He said he was a service rep. He could not do what we needed done so he volunteered to get ahold of a person who could help us. That was when we spoke to Jasmine who was able to remove the charge from our bill.

    Recently, I had a go-around with ADT on trying to get my bill straightened out. I recently got my alarms that I wear around my neck, and they were supposed to take it out of my debit card, but they didn't. I tried to talk to someone to get them to put it on my checking account but it didn't go through. I finally got ahold of somebody and they talked to me.

    Usually, when you do something like that, it'll show up on your bank statement the next day. It didn't so I called yesterday and got ahold of another person. She said, "It went through today. It'll be on your account in the next 24 to 36 hours," in which it was on my account this morning, which was fine. But my sister had to go through the same thing with them too. She never got hers lined up. ADT needs to do something about their billing. I'm worried thinking my bill is not paid and they're gonna turn it off. The other night, whenever I talked to the guy about it, he was smart with me. I realize that I'm under contract and that if I turn it off, I have to pay this and that. Whenever he told me that, I didn't appreciate the way he talked to me and I couldn't hardly understand his language.

    They had overcharged me for I don't know how long on my alarm and I ended up with $207 credit. I've got one more month before I have to start paying it again. For my alarm that I wear around my neck, I had one that Home Health Care had given to me. They gave to me free for four months then it was gonna cost me $39 a month. I like the price of 23.99 with ADT a whole lot better than 39. However, I can't get on the ADT site. I have tried and tried. I'm not savvy when it comes to computer stuff. They said to call them but I'm not gonna call and have to go through all this rigmarole. But the people who come out here that do the jobs are nice. The last time a guy was here, he thought he had it fixed. He had to come back and drive miles late that night to redo it. He had to put a battery in it. He was good.

    When I first called ADT years ago, they promised me cameras. And when the guy came to install my system, he didn't have cameras and tried to run some kind of story on me. So, I feel I got cheated out of my cameras. Also, the motion detector that he put inside the house wasn't working. So, I had to call them and have them come back out and do it the right way. These guys are independent contractors so a lot of them try to be slick. I found that out from ADT. If I had not caught it, it would not have been working.

    The price is high for me not to even have one camera. And ADT told me they would give me two. Also, ADT told me that they would give me a $100 Visa gift card, which they never sent me. I just sucked it up. I was gonna call and tell them I'm gonna cancel it, because I've been with them for a long time. I have another company that is willing to put my cameras in for free. So, if they can't match my cameras, I'm gonna get rid of them.

    We are getting ready to drop ADT. Our experiences are terrible. Our service doesn't work half the time. It cuts out, and then the whole system is down. They tried to upsell us from the very beginning to Google stuff when we already had their stuff. I bought all the equipment and somehow there's still a contract hanging out there. So I'm gonna need $400 just to get rid of them. I'm so dissatisfied. We have all kinds of bells and whistles. The doorbell goes off just any time it wants to. It's ringing the doorbell for some reason, which drives us crazy. Now they want to charge to come out to service their stinking equipment and I just can't stomach it. We'll fight with them tooth and nail to come out here and not charge us. I'm so done.

    The reps at ADT have been very kind and helpful. My husband passed away and during that time, I had to replace the battery. I'm not very techy about doing that, but they sent me detailed instructions and video of how to replace the battery. At first, I asked if I could have somebody come over and change the battery out for me. They told me it was simple and I could do it myself. They told me where to buy the big battery, how to undo the thing inside the house, how to hook it back up, and it was simple. It saved me a bunch of money by them not coming over and doing it themselves. That was very generous. Also, any time the alarm has gone off, which it does a lot during a thunder and lightning storm, they ask, "Is everything all right? Do you need the police to come over?"     The initial sales pitch of the ADT rep came out pretty good. I ordered a package that they had for first time home buyers. Installing it and having it run for the first year went smoothly. The installers were okay. They put the stuff that I had ordered in good spots. And you can barely see them sometimes, what you're looking for, like the cameras. You gotta actually open a door to see it. It covers the room really well. The system works like it should. However, they're very difficult to cancel that service. I called them when I retired. Since I was gonna be home all the time, I didn't have the alarm system because I don't need it. I'm here along with my big dog. So I called them up and I tried to cancel it. They said I needed my password. I couldn't remember my password. It's been over a year since I put it in. So I still have it a year and a half later. I was trying to get them to cancel it because I couldn't afford it. They wouldn't do it.

    The rep of ADT came in. We had Brinks at the time and he took it off. He said, “See how good your system is? Did they call you up to tell you that it was tampered with?” We decided to go with ADT, although the cost was a lot more expensive than they said in the ad in the paper. It was $25 a month, but till the guy was all done, it was $45 a month. I called Brinks and I told them what happened. They said, “If you did not have the system armed, it's not gonna go off when you take it off the wall like that.” We weren't happy at that point.

    We had some problems after that ‘cause we had a window opened and we went away and didn't realize it was open. And we alarmed the system. That particular window wasn't even hooked up to the system. It had the pieces on it, but it didn't pick up that it was opened. I called, and somebody did it over the phone. It was a computer thing that they could just go in and plug it in.

    We're not totally satisfied with ADT because of the issues that we had. We're not sure everything even works. Now, we've had our system for a couple of years. Batteries are starting to go bad in some of the things and the control panel door broke. They won't fix that. We had to pay to have those things fixed. At this point, I don't like the system. I wouldn't recommend it. I'll replace it in a heartbeat as soon as I find one we like.

    ADT is worthless. The system is a stupid thing. It went off in the middle of the night the other night for no reason because it wasn't even set. I had to push all kinds of buttons to get it to stop the noise. And now, I can't get the light to quit flashing off and on. I haven't bothered calling ADT because I don't wanna listen to their nonsense. As far as the cost, we finally got it down to where it's not too bad. But when I tried to cancel it, they keep telling me that I can't because of some kind of contract agreement. So, I'm just waiting for it to run out.

    ADT has been very good and professional. I got the app on my phone, and they're easy to get ahold of. I can't think of a single complaint. My interactions with customer service are usually very good. They call if the alarm goes off or have any issues. Thank goodness, I've only had it go off three times since I've had it on.     The first time I called ADT to cancel, the rep told me that I wouldn't be able to cancel until March. I called back at the end of February and the person that I talked to told me to call back on the 8th. So, I did. And the lady that I spoke with told me that I still have a year on my contract. I asked why the other two people didn't tell me that and she said she didn’t know. It was a little upsetting. I said I'm a senior on a fixed income so I'm trying to cut down my monthly expenses. She said she understood and gave me an offer where I'm only paying $15 a month for at least six months, and then the other six months I finish out the year. So that was very helpful. The customer service reps were nice. It’s just the misinformation.

    The battery in the alarm that's on the outside of the house went out and when the repair guy came, he said that the battery needed to be replaced and he didn't know how much it was but that it was very expensive. So I asked if I could have it removed and he said we could just turn it off. And he did. Without the discount, the price of the service is reasonable. But for people like myself, I would like to see lower rates. We need and like to have the security but can't necessarily afford it. If the prices were a little less and a little bit more reasonable, we would probably be able to stick with it.

    The service is good. The first time the alarm went off, I called right away and no police came out. That was all good. But the second time it happened, the police came out. The person I spoke to said I didn’t need to come back and I could just go about my day. I decided to on my own to come home and it's a good thing I did because the police showed up. The sales process was disappointing because I tried to cancel and ADT sent some guy out here. He told me to continue and that I could get ahold of him any time. And he lied to me. But the cost was okay. It's a two-year contract initially and any time after that, if you don't renew the contract, it's another two years and another two years. I wish the timing on that could be less. You could go for six months or a year. But two years is a stretch.

    Our ADT system appears to be fine. My favorite part is the thermostat control on my phone. It is accurate. Arming & disarming if we're away from home is convenient, too. The sales rep was also friendly. The only thing I don't like is we just get an email from them. We had Alert 360 before, and we always got a phone call. And I liked that.     When I'm not home, I can look at my phone and see if anything is going on. But I don't like that it doesn't make any kind of sound. It doesn't give me any kind of notification. Also, when I first started with ADT, if my alarm would go off, it would always be a live person calling me. Now, when my alarm goes out, an automated system calls me. That was one reason why I changed from my last company. I don't like those automated messages. Somebody should call you 'cause there really could be something going on with you. It it's an automated service, what can they do?

    When my cameras went out, ADT set an appointment up to come out and fix it. I took off for the day for them to tell me that they had canceled my appointment. They still hadn't come out, telling me to move the entertainment system. The entertainment system is big. They want me to pull it all the way out and check the outlets. I pulled it out halfway and everything is hooked up to a jack. I was trying to tell them that everything is on one plug. I could see that it was no loose wires. But my camera is still not fixed to this day. I'm paying for them, but they're not hooked up.

    I originally called because the cameras on my phone had messed up. In the midst of them trying to help me get my phone back online, they had me doing stuff to the part that was hooked to the TV then my cameras on my TV went out. I told them, "That's a whole day of work if you're charging me to come out. What's the difference in me pulling something out, looking at it, and making sure everything is aloose? That's what I'm paying you to come out and fix it." That day, I was on the phone almost two hours. I told the lady I was giving up because it was still not working.

    The quality of the service is excellent. Any time I have a problem, they come and rectify the situation. The people that come to do the repairs are very personable and knowledgeable. However, I spend a lot of money to have ADT, and they want me to do my own repairs. I have seven-foot ceilings and I'm 80 years old. You can't tell me that I have to get on the ladder and change the battery. I'm paying $1,000 a year for so many years and they wanna charge me to repair their own equipment. That's not fair. They should do the repairs. If you have a battery that you have to have, they wanna do Zoom. But if you're not technologically savvy or an engineer, it's not easy.

    We had ADT at our last home. We cancelled it because we were hardwired in and kept having issues with the batteries they would send. They wouldn't last. It was horrible. We lived in an apartment for a while while we built this house. And because it was Wi-Fi, we don't have to hardwire everything in. And I don't have to worry about a big, old battery not working. The system started beeping at me Saturday night at 3 o'clock in the morning. Unfortunately, I touched a carbon monoxide thing by accident. The fire department came to my house. I was mortified. So, I reached out to ADT, to my original person and he connected me with the same installer. That installer was able to come out and fix the problem. That was a win-win as well. I wasn't charged for it because at first, I thought I would pay a fee. So overall, it was a great experience.

    Something I never thought I would ever do is buy something sight unseen. It was a little scary, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. The rep was reassuring. She knew what she was talking about so that helped a lot. She walked me through each step as well. However, for the 50,000 that it cost me to have it built and installed, they hit me with taxes on it. It was from my IRA. I'm over 66, so I'm having a hell of a time. I was wondering if there's any way they could send me a statement. I've also got a couple issues that I need to have addressed and trying to get my contractor back here. It’s turning into a nightmare. Home Nation could be easier to get ahold of.

    When I called ADT to inform them I had a new debit card, the experience went extremely well. When I had, a window installed, they came out. I am satisfied. I like the dependability of having this system, the beeping of the door. The alarm system itself is good. My sister went back to Albany, New York and she had one installed in her home. The only thing is the customer could be informed of a price increase prior to increasing it. I wasn't pleased with that.

    So far, my experience with ADT has been good. We might have a little issue, once in a while. But I have no complaints. The attitude of the reps is very good. Their helpfulness is good, too. But there's only one issue I have with the connection. It's been six years and I'm used to it by now. But I was not happy with the way they set up the connection. They did what they wanted. I wanted my system to be somewhere else and they put it somewhere else. The tech was giving me an attitude, too. I just left it like that. It's not useful for me. Because from my garage, I have to run all the way down to my living room just to shut it off. It's not a good thing. They should have put it in the garage where I told them to put it, next to the garage. They said they couldn't do it. But the other company has it there and they don't have any issues.

    We've been with ADT for over 10 years now and we've been very pleased with it. We were out of town and we always let my daughter come by to check the house while we were gone.     The experience with ADT has been good but sometimes, they don’t respond. I have a battery that’s been low for so long and I called a couple of times. They said to reset it and I did but it didn’t work. One of my friends told me that ADT has to come and put the battery. They need to do something to a system saying “battery low” so I need to get help for that. I don't have any time to call all the time for them. My system saying battery low is under their service because I'm paying for it. I've been their customer for a couple of years and right now, I’m paying 36 a month. They gave me a good deal but I hope they don't increase. I was supposed to get a Visa $100 gift card when I installed the system but I didn't get that. They offered it to me but I'm a busy person and I didn't pay attention. But a lot of people said they got it.

    My initial installation was 20 years ago and the techs came back out and gave me a new panel. But I don’t like the services that ADT provides right now because all they keep doing is going up on my cost but I'm not getting anything in return. Nobody is monitoring anything and they're not offering any new equipment or upgrades to the equipment. I've had error messages on my keypad for the longest. I'm not satisfied with my package and people should not get it.

    Everything's always been good with ADT’s customer service. The reps always resolve problems and get my questions answered quickly. The techs are helpful, informative and knowledgeable. I'm very happy with the system. It is very good and the only problem I ever have is once in a while every couple of years, the battery goes out. But ADT’s reps came out and got me a new battery for the unit. When I had the tech out here to do my doorbell installation, he had an extra battery and put another battery in my system. It wasn't ready for one yet and it was a little bit early, but he had an extra one so he just put that in for me right away, which was nice.

    Just having the ADT placard in your yard probably deters some people. I had a break-in seven years ago and my dogs didn't even hear it. The guys snuck in but they didn't get much. Ever since then, I've had the system and I added the doorbell probably about six months ago, which is one thing I like because you can see everything that's going on when you're not home. It's very clear. You can hear the birds chirping. I live in a neighborhood where a lot of people walk their dogs and I live close to a school. There are a lot of kids. So, I'll get notifications that somebody is at the door and they're not. It doesn't bother me or I would have called already. But it just goes off more around certain times when there are people walking dogs or the kids are leaving from school. My doorbell is probably about 25 feet from where the street is, but for some reason, it still goes off sometimes. I don't know if I can adjust that setting.

    When I first got my ADT system, it wasn't working. They came out at 4 o'clock in the morning and fixed it for me because I was panicking. Where I live, I need my ADT. Aside from that, if something was messed up, they would tell me. One time, when my battery would make my alarm go off, they told me how to fix it. So, they've been good to me.     I'm not really happy with ADT. Their cameras don't work. Their sensors stopped working and they told me to go and get batteries. I'm not fully equipped with how to undo this kind of material because I do two jobs. But if I call them, they're gonna charge me extra to come and fix their problem that I'm paying for. When I couldn't remember the password on the account, I had to wait for ADT to mail me something before I could even fix the problem. Also, ADT goes into my account and takes my money twice per month. I don't understand why they make two withdrawals when I deal with one contract. I'm tired of reaching out to them, so I just stopped. I can't wait for this contract to finish so I could just get out of ADT. It's a waste of my money.

    The system is working fine. At one point, I wasn't connected where I would get notices, and I didn't notice that. I was thinking that ADT should have been able to read that on their end and let me know that. But that was several years ago and it's been fine now. I like the fact I can get on and look at my settings and I can see online that it's on and that it's working. The price goes up every year, and I didn't realize that was gonna happen.     I have had interactions with ADT's customer service when it comes to changing the batteries in my system. It left a bad taste in my mouth. It was the simplest thing. I kept having a problem with it. And when I call and let them know I'm having it over and over, what they're giving me is not working, they wanna tell me how much it would cost for a service guy to come out. $35 in each additional hour is so much, which I thought was poor service to be with them. They see that I'm having the same problem over and over, and to me, their main thing was that if I needed a service call, I had to pay for it. The price is a little steep, but I'm satisfied with the system. Other than that little piece, I haven't had any problems out of it. It's providing me the service that I need.

    I had a salesman named Unger come by the house when we first moved in here. He explained everything cost-wise for three years and said it might go down a little bit after three years. He also gave me the list of equipment. We signed up with him and the installer who came out was real good. He did a really good job and he knew his thing. Then, I bought another camera for the back and I had a different installer came and put in that one. The equipment is looking good but I wish we could talk to people who come to the front door.     Initially, ADT Pulse was good but it has since become less so and service has been problematic. We have a number of devices that don't work properly, door locks that don't lock, or light switches that don't control, and a garage controller that didn't work. A bunch of the devices for the smart home part of things were issues and I have given up trying to get it fixed for the past four years or so. Also, we had trouble with one of the gateway devices and they sent a team out to fix it. I was less happy with that team and one of the local repair guys is unpleasant and difficult to deal with. Looking to get things fixed is just not worth it to deal with. The security products are solid, though.

    ADT is certainly the most recognizable name in home security. This is why I contracted with them in 2017. Over 7 years, my monthly charge increased from $55 to $75. I tried calling and emailing their "district manager". He simply did not return my calls or emails. I then called the 800 number... After many transfers (and a lot of time), I finally reached someone who agreed to lower my cost back to $50/month. I asked why they increased the pricing so dramatically...and was told that they emailed me and gave me opportunity to object. Since I didn't, they increased the price... Overall, this has been a bad experience. I would not recommend ADT unless you want to over pay for your alarm monitoring. I found a nice, more local company that will take over my system... Same wireless connection (no phone lines involved), same 24/7 monitoring...for $25/month...and no "gotcha" price increases.

    The salesman gave me a good reason why I should get ADT at the time I got it and I’ve had it for six years. I'm still paying a big bill. I'm paying $42 a month and I'm thinking of canceling this.     The system goes off and on. I set it and it goes right back off. I talked to a lady, and we walked through everything. She got my number and PIN number, and everything was supposed to have been fine. As I was walking around, I noticed that the wires are off on the one that's in the garage. There's no connection there. When you open the garage doors and back doors, they don't work. I'm not satisfied at all with ADT. Before, it was good. But now, it's not. They didn't fix what they were supposed to fix. Also, when I started out, the cost was 58. Now, it's up to 61 and going.

    The system works most of the time but a lot of times, if the power goes off, it doesn't reset on our phones to where we can turn it off and on with it. That's my biggest problem. At one point, it would do that to us twice a month. I’d go in and unplug the whole system, let it sit overnight, plug it back in, and then it works for a while. Then it’d go out again one day. I talked to them about it but it still isn’t fixed 100%. They thought they got it going and we've worked through some things but then it would happen again. We can set the alarm with the keypad any time but if we're out and away and need to set it or we're leaving the house, the phones don't always work. It's got a little bit better lately, though, and everything else is good. I don't have a problem with the system besides that.

    When I moved, ADT was the only one who offered a live active police response for alarms and fire. If I'm out of town and someone breaks in the house or opens the door or there's a fire or something, they’re supposed to send the police to my home to investigate. I went with them but I didn't like the technician they sent out. It was a weird experience because he talked too much. He spent a lot of time talking and even more time trying to upsell the package I was buying. It was off-putting because he was trying to sell me something and he was not necessarily ADT. The company that he works for, even though they're contracted by ADT, was a different name.

    As far as the reliability of the product, the cameras will stop recording at random and there's no warning whatsoever. They're motion-sensitive if something happened in my front yard, it'll send a thing to my phone that there was motion detected but I would go to look at the footage and it didn't record it. I've called about it and they said I have to go in and delete the camera motion sensitive level. Basically I have to delete that rule where if somebody walks by, the camera is supposed to notify and record the footage. They said they have to delete that and then put it back in. That has happened so often that I don't even call ADT about it. I just do it myself. My experience with ADT is like once you're in, you're kind of trapped in until something better comes along or I have the funds to buy something better because I would.

    The chimes don't always work and the camera on the doorbell completely is useless. It will pick up wind, but it doesn't pick up people coming to the door. Also, they're not easy to get ahold of and half of their reps are not knowledgeable. If you're having an issue, they'd say they don't know and tell you to go on YouTube and figure it out from there. Although I had one interaction with a rep who was extremely helpful and walked me through everything. I cannot wait until my contract is over with to cancel it.

    ADT is an annoying company. The stuff only kind of works. I had two faulty window sensors and it would just go off at random. It took me months to get them to treat it as if I wasn't crazy, but that the sensors were broken. The customer service people were fine but they don't seem particularly empowered to fix anything. It was always like, "We'll get you some replacements," and then put me on hold, disappear for a second, and they come back and say they couldn't do it. They're a giant company and it was hard to get anybody who had the power to do anything, which is pretty standard for companies these days.

    Considering how long I've had the service, ADT's a little pricey for something that's been paid for 15 or 20 times already. My system is kind of a fallback situation. I don't turn the alarm system on very often, maybe two or three times a year when going on vacation, and that's about it.

    The very first time that ADT sent a man out, I had to pay a fee to get him out there. He told me he was brand new on the job, so they sent a new employee that was not experienced to check out my internet service. And it took a second serviceman to come out there and take a look at it. But I didn't have to pay another for him to come out and other than that, their customer service has been very good.

    But if my alarm goes off, there's a long delay before they call to check if there's an issue. I know they get a lot of alarms go off accidentally and they can't call everybody. But I would like a better response time because by the time they respond, if somebody is breaking into my house, they're already in and nobody's called the police at all. So, from that standpoint, I'm not getting my value out of having my security system. Also, their pricing is getting out of line. They just announced a new price increase of about $4 a month, which is a 10% increase over what I was paying. There are too many competitors out there that does the same thing and I could get a better price. But I don't want to have to go through the installation all over again.

    The installation team was wonderful, but I wouldn't recommend ADT to even my worst enemy. They have not had good service, good prices, good conversations, and any contact with ADT has been terrible. My doorbell camera failed, and they didn't wanna stand behind it. They wanted to charge me a service call even before determining whether it was under warranty or not. They were also gonna charge me for another camera when it was less than a year old. So, I do not have a doorbell camera now that I'm still paying for on contract. I get false alarms on the system. The main control box blurts out alarms three times a day, and I have to shut it off. We don't even use it anymore. I don't arm it. I just pay every month until my contract's up.

    We had ADT for over 25 years with a landline and decided to get rid of our landline and go to a wifi security system. I actually called ADT to cancel my service and they informed me they could switch our system over to wifi for $99. They just had to come out and install some equipment. So we decided to stay with them and scheduled an appointment to have them come out. They were scheduled out two months so we had to wait and had no security for that period, which we understood. I had to take off work the day they were supposed to show up and they never do! Got the story that the job before me took longer than expected and they can't make it and want to move me to the back of the line to come out two more months down the road! We said no thanks and went the route we were going to in the first place.

    Five months later, they're still sending us monthly bills with late fees!!! I spoke to at least 8 different people and they always tell me they have no record of us cancelling so we need to pay the bill. Sent us a contract via email to sign and I never did so I never renewed with them. They literally have not been able to do a test timer on our old land line number for 6 months because we no longer have it and they're telling us we need to pay!!! Hate to think what would have happened if we really would have needed them in an emergency at some point! They get one star only because you can't give ZERO!!!!
