    I've been with ADT for 40 years. Originally, I called into a house I owned in New York. Then I moved to North Carolina and I had them in again. When I moved again, I also had them in. The service has been good sometimes, but sometimes not so good. But lately, it's been good. I rarely call customer service. But when I called them a couple of years ago for something, they took care of it. My wife called me the other day because the box wasn't closing and staying closed. ADT said they'd send her a kit.

    When we first got ADT, I felt really pressured by the person who sold it to us. We had just moved into our house that we are in right now last February when we purchased ADT, and I really felt pressured into it but we did it and what is done is done. Many months after at 5 o'clock one morning, the alarm went off. There was banging on the door and fire trucks in front of our house. We didn't know why because nothing was wrong. There was no smoke or fire. They just woke up all the neighbors. So, someone came out and changed the batteries. They said, “Bad batteries.” It was a new system. The batteries should not have been bad in that period of time. Then, it happened again.

    We have just a cell phone for communication and previously, I had turned the volume down. The second time, I heard the phone ringing to say, “Hey, your alarm’s going off.” So, we stopped anybody from coming but it was the same thing. So, someone came out and changed the batteries. This is getting old fast. It happened a third time and I said, “Enough’s enough.” So, I called ADT and said, “I want this system out of my house. I don't want this ever to happen again.” They said, “We can do that, but it will cost you $1,000,” to which I thought, “You're not serious.” They said, “Well, yes, we are.”

    So, we have the system in our house. We never turn it on. It is hanging on the wall. When doors or windows are opened that have the alarms on them, we never know because we don't turn up the volume because we don't want it in our house. I don't want to be paying all that money every month, to which now we've been informed that the price is going up by $5 and something a month. I want it out of my house, but I don't want to pay $1,000 to take it out. I don't think I should have to pay $1,000 to have it removed.

    I don't like that ADT is charging me to come out and reposition my camera. I can see my front door, but I can't see the front of my home. When they told me they would have to charge me to do it, I told them, "I'm already paying for the service. The only thing I'm asking is see in front of my home." I can't afford to pay that just to have them come out. But other than that, I've never had problems out of repositioning the camera. I have ADT and Ring. So my home is pretty well secure. But they could change their policy in regards to at least reposition and at least once for a customer who's never late on payments. That should be a courtesy. But overall, I recommend ADT. I've always liked it. I like the service. If you don't stop the alarm or you trigger it without realizing it, the police definitely is coming. So that's a good thing in terms of my wife and my granddaughter being here.

    When it comes to home security, peace of mind is priceless. Unfortunately, my experience with ADT has been anything but peaceful. If you're considering ADT, I urge you to read on and learn from my costly mistake. The 3-Year Trap. ADT's 3-year contract felt like a prison sentence. Once you're in, there's no escape, even if the service disappoints or your circumstances change. It's a classic bait-and-switch tactic – lure you in with promises of security, then lock you down for the long haul.

    Price Hikes and Service Dives. Each year, like clockwork, ADT hikes up their prices. Meanwhile, the quality of service seems to be on a perpetual decline. It's a frustrating combination – paying more for less. Customer Service Nightmare. Need help? Brace yourself for a battle with ADT's customer service. The automated phone system feels like an endless maze, designed to frustrate and deter you. When you finally reach a human, don't expect much. Their knowledge and helpfulness are often questionable, leaving you feeling even more exasperated.

    The Verdict: Look Elsewhere. ADT might be a big name in home security, but in my experience, they're not worth the hassle or the expense. Don't fall into the same trap I did. Take the time to research other options. There are plenty of security companies out there that offer better value, superior service, and more flexible terms. Remember, your home security is too important to compromise. Choose wisely, and don't settle for anything less than the best.

    Everything went fine in the installation of our ADT. The system's working. Sometimes when I cook bacon, my fire alarm will go off and all that is taken care of. I feel very secure with it. If I make a mistake and don't lock it and the wind blows my door open, they let me know. Or if I open my garage door without turning the alarm off before I go to the house, it lets me know. They have a quick response. I will recommend them.

    We've been with ADT for quite a few years now. The system is working well and everything is great. I haven't had any problems. When I first got my cameras put in, something happened to one of them. I had to call them for that. But it wasn't their fault. They told me what to do every time I would call them if something was wrong. We've got two houses with an alarm system. Sometimes one of the house’s alarms would go off. I would call them and they would tell me what to do or they would come out and fix it. They've been good to us.

    We've had ADT for over 13 years now. They gave good quality service at first but we've been looking into other stuff because, over the last three years, it's not been great quality. They've been coming out a lot to do the work on our cameras that's always going down and some of our cameras are still down. We still can't record like that and so much.

    I had ADT years ago and I decided to come back to them. It's been okay. But if you have an issue with the system not working and they have to come out and do things, the charges are a little steep. They could have been handled without them coming out but we are senior citizens and there are some things technically that we may not be physically able to do. It can be tedious trying to understand the mechanism involved in causing the system to work correctly. When they have senior citizens taking part in a service like this, there should be a little bit more empathy in how things are done. When work needs to be done, it'd be best if they would look at things a little bit different. Maybe not charge so much to come out to assist them in that effort.

    Other than that, the technology is great. For what it does and what we receive from it, being in place to assist us, it's great. When we are away, we use the app when we lock the door or if we wanted to check around the house, we can. We plan to add a camera for the inside of the house. But I just noticed that I have two separate bills. I got one for the regular service and then I got another one for some other stuff. I didn't understand that.

    We googled some different alarm systems and stuff that we could use for our home and with ADT, I liked that it was monitored better. I've been with them for a couple of years now. A few times, it's been a struggle to speak with their customer service. A lot of times, I can't understand what they're saying and it's frustrating. One time, the rep was telling me to focus because I couldn't understand what he was saying and he kept having to repeat himself. We ended that call in frustration and have just been dealing with the issue ever since.

    Currently, our pool camera is not connecting the way it's supposed to. We can't get that up and going. We have a doorbell camera, which has been great, and we have a different camera that doesn't record to save. There's no memory bank so it's kind of useless to us. We've been thinking about canceling ADT because the doorbell camera is the only thing that's really working right now and we can get that from anywhere. I would tell others it's a waste of money. It's been easy to arm our system from afar with the app, which has been great. It's just that the customer service and the camera are not always working effectively.

    It's difficult to get in contact with an actual person at ADT. When you call and you go through the 800 number, you keep getting messages and you have to wait a few minutes before you get an operator or somebody to come in person and they're not the most knowledgeable when you get them. But the system is all right. I've only had a few problems in three years.

    ADT is a titanic waste of money. I've had it for almost 10 years, and I keep forgetting to cancel. I just need to call them and cancel it. It's a security system, which means as long as we don't need it, we don't think about it. It functioned. When the cats would knock something over and we were away, we would get a phone call asking if things were okay, which is fine. That's good. That's what they're supposed to do.

    There was a time when ADT would offer maintenance on their devices, but six years ago, that sort of customer service vanished. When I asked them about swapping out a battery so my system would work, I was told, "The instructions are online." My unit has had low battery for the past two years and not one time have I received any calls that said, "Hey, this is ADT Monitoring. We're just noticing your system's offline." That just tells me they're there to collect money.

    I tried out ADT because I got good internet where I live. Their sales representative and the installation were fine. The features of my service package are okay as well. Their service, on the other hand, is an actual joke. Three months in, one of my cameras quit working and they couldn't send anyone out. In order to fix it, I would have to take off work, go home, and do some kind of virtual crap with it. But I already went through all their stuff to reset it and do everything that they were having me do over the phone. They wouldn't send anybody out until I did that and by the time I got through with that, another camera had quit working. Again, I could not get any of them to come out and do anything to take care of that. So I bought two new cameras and got them working myself. And now, I only have one camera out of four that works and picks up anything. I'm fixing to drop them and go back to some Canary cameras, which I've had for eight years and they still work fine. I make sure to tell everybody not to buy ADT products because they don't take care of you once they install and they really don't care. I've also replied to some of their emails with comments and they never even respond.

    I've had ADT for five years. I did the door sensors, then later on, I added a camera. The camera hasn't worked for over a year now and they won't fix it. They told me they don't make that camera anymore, and I would have to finish paying for that one and then buy a new one, which I'm not doing. It's ridiculous. They can't give me the part that I need to get the camera fixed, and yet I'm still paying for it.

    ADT's customer service sucks as well. No one there gives a crap about their customers. I was put on hold for over 20 minutes, and I got hung up on twice trying to figure out a charge that they decided to put on my card. They admitted they messed up, and I was told that I'd get a call back, but I never got one. It was a three-day process to get in touch with one person. The company is an absolute joke. It was great at first, but now, it's been terrible, and I would not recommend them to anyone. I'm gonna be cancelling my stuff with them, and I would tell everyone not to go with them.

    For the price, ADT offers a great product. I bought a house that already had the service installed, and there was no point in replacing the equipment that was in here. I set up the new account and switched the service over from the previous home owner to me. We did some upgrades to the system to bring it up to current standards, and we talked about doing some integrations with my Nest system, but we decided against it. This is the first time I've used ADT. I've used other carriers for security service, but ADT upped their game, so I'm satisfied with them.

    I've had the house for a year, and everything is perfect. I have the app and I use that quite frequently because I'm not at the house because I travel for work. I thought that was the latest and greatest, and I enjoy that part of it. I can set the alarm or monitor the house when I'm not in the house, especially since I had renovations being done.

    A gentleman came to the door when we were moving in and talked to my wife. Then he came back and made a presentation for the ADT system. I knew the name, so I figured they were reliable and they seemed to have a pretty good system available. Also, there was already some equipment in the house from the previous owner that was compatible with the system, so signing up seemed like a sensible thing to do.     As a property manager, I’ve had my fair share of experiences with various service providers, but my recent dealings with ADT have been particularly frustrating and disappointing. My client signed up for ADT Home Security in 2013, providing the service as an amenity to a tenant. The same tenant remained in the property until 2022, and upon their move-out, my client (the landlord) decided not to continue the service with ADT. After faithfully paying for ADT's service for nearly a decade, my client has been trying to cancel the service for two years, which has gone unused for two years.

    Despite multiple attempts, ADT has refused to cancel the service, citing the need for a PIN code that they claim is being sent to the subject property. The new tenant said they had not received any mail from ADT. We have repeatedly requested that the PIN code be sent to our property management office, which is the mailing address for the account, yet absolutely no PIN has been mailed to us. After exhausting all reasonable options, my client decided to stop paying the bill recently. Now, ADT is threatening collections and adverse credit reporting. This is a concern as the landlord has the bill coming to my address with my name on the mailing.

    I have called ADT and asked to speak with a manager to resolve this issue, but to no avail. The lack of resolution and the runaround we’ve experienced highlight what I believe to be unfair business practices. ADT appears to be holding my client hostage, forcing payments for a service that is no longer used or needed.     The console works well. It works well with my phone. But until recently, I wasn't happy with ADT because the battery on the console died. At one point, it went off at 2:00 in the morning. I thought somebody was inside my home. Upon checking everything, it was a dead battery. The backup battery died. I tried rectifying that but I didn't get any response from ADT. Customer support is not very good. I tried getting the battery for it and I'm willing to pay for it, but I didn't get anywhere. I called again, a guy answered and said he couldn't help me. I'm looking for somebody else because my contract with ADT expired already.

    I'm not pleased with ADT. I'm familiar with their services, so that was why I initially reached out. Now, I'm paying for my ADT and I'm not even using it because I just gave up on it. They installed it, and about a week later, the screen went completely blank. It took a few days for someone to even come out and check the screen. So, they fixed it. Then I called again because one of the little things on the doors kept saying that it was out of battery. Every other door was fine except that one. So, we kept replacing the battery every seven days, which doesn't seem normal to me.

    When I called ADT so that they could go and fix it or replace it, they kept telling me that I needed to call somebody else because I didn't do it directly with ADT. So, I never got around to fixing it and I'm just paying for my service and it's not even working. I run my own business. I have a two-year-old daughter. Life gets tough. So I'm like, "I don't have time for this." And then, we are moving. So, I figured not to even bother with that for now.

    Every time I try to change the battery out with a brand-new one, the system would still beep. Almost every time that has happened, I’ve had to call ADT and have someone come out. They just replace it with a new one. And they would try to charge me for coming out. But they shouldn't charge me. I've been with them for 15 years. And I told them, “I should be able to just change the battery.” Every time, they have to change the whole unit. But that's the only thing that irritates me the most. The alarm helps with the fire.

    I wasn't satisfied with the package I received because when they came and installed my cameras, they didn't have the brackets for one of them to go up. They had to put the cameras in boxes until the brackets came in and then they had to come back out here to put the cameras on the bracket. When they came back out here, it was showing that everything was working but the wires were showing and every time it rains, my camera goes out. I don't feel safe like that because I can't see what's coming in and out of my driveway. I tried calling the rep who talked me into getting ADT and he tried to call customer service to see if they can get someone out to come and see what's going on with it. But then they told me I would have to pay $59 for them to come out, which I don't feel is right.

    Also, they went by that monitor that was already here and then the motion sensor, I already had one in the house. They never gave me a new motion sensor and they just went on with the one that was already here. And when I told them that I need a battery, they told me I gotta go to one of these stores or call Amazon, order me a battery, and that I will have to put the battery on myself.

    I moved to Texas four years ago and I live by myself so my first instinct was to get a security system. I have a camera installed by ADT and I've not had any problems that I've had to deal with it. So far, the system is working just fine. I travel on occasion to go back to California to visit and I can check it there any time I want. It's a good feeling that I can do that, that I can make sure everything's still okay while I'm gone. Also, I like the idea that I can use my phone to arm or disarm or whatever I wanna do with it.

    I had the initial ADT and there is another people. They subcontract out of ADT. I got with them and my bill went from $40 to $70. So, it's still ADT. The system is all right. The thing I don't like about them is they lied to me. They told me they would give me a $200 card but I never received it. I could talk with ADT, but with the ADT people I'm with is an issue. I don't know how to talk with them.

    I don't like to talk to customer service because they keep telling me I need to figure things out. I'm 70 and I can't find the things they're asking me to find. So, I can't get my cameras to work because they want me to do stuff and I can't do it. That's frustrating. So, I'm not happy right now with ADT. But the experience with the installation team was okay. At one time, they put in the sensors wrong and in the middle of the night, it separated and set the alarm off. It scared me to death. I was thinking somebody broke in downstairs.

    I was with ADT at one time and then, I went back to them about a year and a half ago. I just have home security and the installer was good. The installation took a little bit because I have overhead garage door units and those took some doing. The sensors are there and it'll set off my alarm if somebody opens it. But as far as being able to open and close it from the ADT app, it would not hook up. We never figured that out. So, I've got another app I use if I need that. But I don't need it very often at all. ADT calls me if it’s an active going-off alarm.

    There's plenty that I like about ADT but I have disappointments and I would probably mention these to somebody if they ask me about it. I had a sensor on every window with the company I came from and ADT said they don't do that. And the installer didn't act like that was an available option. The installer said they use glass break alarms and I'm not as comfortable with it as I am with individual sensors on each window. So I don't like that about ADT’s new technology. If a customer wants a sensor on each window, ADT should be able to supply that. It's just another open and close sensor. You got them for the doors and put them on the sink and windows. I did something one time and set one off. It wasn't glass breaking but whatever noise I made, the alarm made it think it was.

    If I've got an alarm going off, then I need my phone to go off and notify me. I need to be able to set some type of specific sound whenever my alarm has been tripped, so I can immediately respond. They use the ding for every other thing in my phone so I don't necessarily just go to it immediately if I'm busy because I'm not thinking it's an alarm. We've had to call off the cops because my phone just did a ding that it does every time I get an email and it was my alarm going off. It's ridiculous for a company not to know that I need a defined notification that my alarm is going off because that's an important detail, especially when our city will start charging you if they have to send cops out there. So, I need to know so I can stop it.

    Many of my neighbors were using ADT and in the beginning, it was too good, which was why I kept it. But I’ve had problems and even now, my doorbell camera doesn't work. I've been a customer for a long time and it's part of the service. Considering the many number of years I've been with ADT, they should consider giving good service to existing customers. They are recommending that the panel be changed to go with the latest and I told them to install it. But the rep said I had to pay $200. It is their system and I've been paying $80 monthly or maybe even $90. And in the last nine years, I've called only two times. If they're asking me to pay, that's not a good service.

    I'm using ADT presently and I've had a bad experience. I had a hardwire original system and it was going off, and I tried to get ahold of them. The ADT Blue salesperson told me to stop the alarm from ringing and I asked him how. He walked me through and told me to get it to stop. I said I don't know what to do and he told me to pull on a wire. So, I pulled on it and it broke the system. He said he had a portable system so I purchased it and I found out that there were two entities, ADT Original and ADT Blue, which came far after my ADT from 2010. And now, ADT Blue is trying to collect and I had nothing but difficulties with them. I've sold the house, so there is no system. I sent every bit of ADT equipment back.

    Another company came around not long ago and I told them I am thinking about dumping ADT and switching over. It's been a very poor experience and I've decided it would cost too much money to buy ADT out to pay what’s left on the contract and then invest in a new company. That's too big of a turnaround, so I'm sticking with ADT. It is meeting my needs though it has been a pain.

    From the very beginning for five years I had been charged for service I was not receiving. Shavon the rep I spoke with today clearly didn't care about customer service only her script. I was told a service call would be $59 but turns out an additional $250hr would be charged for labor. Because of this I only wanted to cancel the video service. The rep Shavon had no care in customer retention to remedy the situation rather she spewed off offers in a monotone annoyed way to hurry me off the phone so I cancelled the entire service rather than just video service then obliged her and hurried off the phone. With price increases that don't match service received and reps like Shavon, I am surprised they continue to do business.

    I am very disappointed in ADT as a whole. From the Sale Rep to the customer service. It all started because one of my friends was diagnosed with terminal cancer. He asked me to at least get a quote on security system even though I do not care for a security system. ADT offers free quotes. Well when they send their account rep on a 2 hour drive that rep is not going for a quote they are going for a sale. Already not in the right head space because of my dear friend I let this rep push me into signing a contract which I will admit I did not read under the circumstances (my fault). Even when I asked the rep to let me think about it he continually pushed me until I finally said yes. I have turned the system on maybe 5 times in 3 years and so far it has costed $1,500.

    I have requested to cancel the service many times over the years and they keep pushing me to keep it or want to charge a crazy amount which keeps me locked in. Even when I ask to speak to a manager the answer is no one will do anything for you. Basically they could care less how they get sales and how unhappy their customers are. Biggest regret is picking them for the quote. Totally screwed me over.

    I've always had a good experience with ADT, and I've told some family and friends how good they are. Any time I call them, I have no problem getting anybody on the phone or anybody to come out to the house promptly. I had something wrong with my doorbell and it still is. When they came out, they thought they fixed it but it still isn't fixed. I called them and they came back out the next day. The Wi-Fi I have is not strong enough for it. The technician told me what I had to go get to fix it. I went and got the piece. But he told me that I have to have somebody else to put it together because where they have to put this piece at is in my attic. I don't expect them to climb up in the attic so I'm gonna have to hire somebody to do that.

    If anyone needs good security, I would recommend ADT because it works. Whenever I've had a breach or my alarm goes off and I'm not at home, I get called immediately. There have been times where I didn't hear or answer my phone and they called the other contact person. That person then called me and asked me what was going on. I like the fact that I've got ADT but I wish I had a more updated system. The cameras would get disabled. I go in to look at something and it'll say that I need to troubleshoot. The pictures are not showing. I had other instances where it didn't record for days at a time. I just reboot it and 95% of the time when I do that, it starts working. If it doesn't, I call them. They tell me what to do and it's fixed. But it takes a lot to reboot. I have to unplug stuff and wait then replug.

    The keypad is outdated and old. The buttons on the keypad are worn. You can tell which ones have been pressed and you have to push really hard sometimes to get it to click. I called about a replacement and they were telling me I couldn't get that unless I get a full reinstallation but I am interested in doing that. I haven't gotten everything I've wanted, but I've always had good communication when I call ADT. The last time I called them for help, they came out. They showed me how to change the batteries out so I don't have to call them anymore for that.

    Setting up the ADT system was very easy. The worker was mindful. He made sure that he paid attention to the way that the place was set up. Sometimes we'll have some workers that would have to try once or twice before they get it right but that was not the experience with him. He got it right the first time. He made sure that he checked and rechecked and that everything was supposed to be done in the appropriate manner. He also made sure he took off his shoes when he entered, which I liked. He cleaned up after himself as well.

    However, I'm not sure what's going on with the cameras. I'm thinking that this is not the company for me. They tell you that you do the self-monitoring, but there are times that it’s triggered when it shouldn't be triggered, and there are times that it’s not triggered when it should be triggered. I don't know if it’s the person in the back office not checking to comply with the way that I want it to be. You don't want the cameras to go off all the time because you have a limited space of how much video can be collected. But even when you delete the videos and clear it off, it's not cleared off from the system, so it doesn't free up the space. When that happens, I feel the service is a bit redundant. If you are deleting videos to free a space so that you can have more clips to be recorded and keep the ones that's needed, it would be better if they can make that improvement.

    We've been with ADT for 15 years now, and over the years, it's been okay until I was looking for my bill for August, and someone with a debit card number ending in ** paid $68.16 to ADT. That's not my debit card account and I don't pay by debit card. I write a check every month every time. It was paid on the 2nd of August and I should have gotten my bill between the 13th and 14th.     When we wanted a security system, we had ADT put in. Later, when my husband needed a medical alert system, we called ADT for that as well. With the medical alert, I let them know if I'm going out of town and where we're going to be, and they're very responsive. The only issue was when I was getting a low battery notification on the security system. My husband is 100% disabled and 84 years old. I'm old, too. They wanted to talk us through changing the battery. We have 12-foot ceilings and the battery that needed to be changed exceeded anything that either one of us was gonna be able to do. That was unsatisfactory. When we requested a serviceman to come, I was told that it was going to be a fee of $25. But the young man called me before he came and told me there would also be an additional $90 for his service visit here.

    The billing was misrepresented and I was not happy about it. He said, "They frequently make this mistake and tell people it's only gonna be the $25." That was even more alarming. I had sent a text message to ADT but got no response. But his service was excellent. I had all the batteries changed and everything else has been good. The system performs the service that we want. With the medical alert, I feel my husband is protected. The very few times that I've ever left here, we've always made sure he's got his medical alert on. I feel comfortable that if he had an emergency, they would respond. When I leave the house, I feel the house is protected. Each door has an alarm on it and all of that is easy to set. The only thing that's ever triggered the alarm is when I forget to cut it off and go outside.

    Doors and windows: If the door or window is opened, the contacts on the door or window and the frame may become too far apart. This can also happen if the door or window isn't shut securely after the alarm is turned on, or if the contacts are out of alignment due to remodeling.
    Motion sensors: Motion sensors can be triggered by swaying blinds, pets, small critters, or hot breezes. Appliances that emit heat, like refrigerators, AC units, and lamps, can also trigger false alarms.

    Other factors: Wandering pets, objects hanging near motion detectors, strong winds, electrical storms, and human error can all cause false alarms.

    Ayhan which is the manager for the technicians is rude, condescending and not helpful at all. He provides no customer service. I paid for a lock two months ago and the technician that came at that time said he couldn’t put it in because he had to find one that was the matching color and no longer that had to. Go with a Yale. He never gave me any other explanation. I had to go through hell to get an appointment for today and the technician came in and he was very, very nice. The poor guy had to apologize for his manager. Ayhan was rude and told me he wasn’t going to give me a free lock. He has some nerve. I paid for my lock in June and his tech took the lock back with him. He should be the one to pay for my lock. He is arrogant, rude and has no knowledge of the meaning of customer service. I demand the service I am paying for.

    An ADT system was in the house when we bought it about four years ago. Customer service was spotty at best. We have had a false alarm. In fact, we had three of them in a week. On the first one, they responded really well. On the second one, they sent me a text message. On the third one, they didn't even notify me. So, I assumed they just determined it was false alarms. So, in lieu of bothering me, they just ignored them. If somebody will ask, I'd tell them that I would not sign a contract with them.

    The only trouble is when I call ADT to get support, they try to get me to do online first. I hate that. I had a problem here the last couple of months. My systems weren't working right. I went online and asked them if they could service it. They tried to say, “We'll do it online. We'll talk you through and all that.” “No. I want someone to come here and do it. I'm paying you 60 some dollars a month for security. So, I want someone to come here. I don't mind the $59. Send them.” So, they did. And Mac came here. He was fantastic. We use the system mainly for nighttime for anybody who wanted to break in. It is supposed to call in.

    I hate ADT. I've tried to cancel it several times. Instead of allowing me to cancel the service, they always somehow hang up before I get to the final step and refuse to answer any of the questions to figure out why they can't complete the steps in regards to my being able to cancel. At the time, I got the basic package. If you turn the alarm on, it works. However, they installed a camera as well. But I couldn't access or be able to view the camera or operate the camera wirelessly like I'm supposed to. I'm paying for something that I'm not using. I also can't cancel and it doesn't work effectively.

    I would tell others to deal directly with ADT instead of dealing with other places that claim that they're ADT. ADT is good but the way that it was brought to my attention was bad. The salesman didn't tell me he was from Safe Haven. He kept on specifying that there were a lot of robberies in my area, and that it would be a good idea if I got the system. He was very aggressive with it and pressured me to do it right then. I don't think that people should use scare tactics to get you to sign up for anything. It was very uncomfortable. At that point, I was worried so I signed up. I'm a single mother and working 70 hours a week. I was told after I was with them for a couple of months that I could call back and get the payment lowered to $29 a month instead of $49. But that was also a lie that he told me. There's no way to do that 'cause it's in the contract that I'm locked into for three years.

    Whenever I tried to call ADT 'cause some of the equipment was malfunctioning, they told me I had to contact Safe Haven. But the fire alarm part of the system is great. That's the best part of it. If there is a fire and I don't answer, they would send the fire department right away. The fire department came when I was cooking steak under the broiler in the oven one day. They got here really fast. It happened one other time the same way, within two minutes. By the time I was able to talk to ADT and walk outside in the driveway, the fire department was pulling up. I also had a few issues with the fire alarm going off but I called and was able to tell them that it was a malfunction. I can go on the app and pause it so that when I'm cooking, if there's any smoke or steam, it doesn't call ADT or send the fire department. But the key fob that I was supposed to have stopped working after about a month.

    We've had ADT for so long. When we first got the house, we interviewed various security places. The gentleman that owned the house decided on ADT. So, when we took the house over at his passing, we just stayed with them. I had a security scare just two weeks ago. I got a call from the police saying that my security was going off. I said, "Well, there should be nobody there." ADT called and they said, "Should we get the police?" I said, "Yeah, because there's nobody at the house." I called our friends who live down the street and I asked him to go up to the house because he had the key to the house, and check things out. In the meantime, the police and the fire company and everything came. There was a car in the driveway and I wasn't familiar with it.

    However, we did allow the people across the street to park in our driveway so that it looks like someone's living in the house when we're not there. I called him and he said it was his car and the police are at his place then. Then the gentleman that has the key to the house came up and he walked through the house. He said all the doors were locked. He walked through the house and he said, "There's nothing wrong. I don't know why it went off." We still don't know why it went off. We have no animals in the house. When we're home, we would bring our cat home with us. We still don't know what happened.

    About a year ago, we had an issue with trying to find someone with ADT. They were coming in. They were going to do something to the system to upgrade it. They have to do it when we're there. So, it was trying to set up a time when we would be back in Florida because we also live in Pennsylvania. Other than that, I don't really get that involved with them as long as the system works. It does work. Last year, I was making dinner and had something on the frying pan and I was working with my back towards it. I looked at the stove and it was smoking, and all the alarms went off.

    We were running through the house, opening the doors and it was so noisy that you couldn't tell if ADT called, but they did call. And by then, the fire company was there. I opened the door and I said, "I'm embarrassed that you had to come. It went off because I was frying dinner and didn't realize that it was that low in the pot." They said, "No problem. You're not the only one." It was embarrassing to have the fire company and the police at the house there, but at least I know it worked. ADT said they called but with all the noise going on with the alarm, you couldn't hear on the phone.

    We started with ADT back in 2002 and we've added a doorbell camera since. We also had a four seasons room added to the house that they had to come out and expand for us.     My system went down. Called for 4 weeks about the same problem, ask for credit for service not working for 4 weeks, they give me a $15 credit, not 1 month of credit that I pay $70 a month. They suck ** as a company. Can't wait for contract to be over They have horrible customers service representative that you can't understand.     We've been having break-ins in the neighborhood. The ADT guy was installing the next day. I signed up and he came the next day. The quality of my system is well. I bought a new front door. When you open up your door, it would say, “Front door,” or “Back door”? I bought a new front door, and it wouldn't close as my original front door when I got my system in. I've been trying to get someone to come here and fix it. They gave me the kit, so I could change it over, but I'm not inclined to do that kind of work because I'm not a handyman. And when I open up my front door, I wouldn't get that announcement that my front door is opening anymore. So, if I can get somebody to come out here and do that, I’d appreciate it.

    Started having issues with the system less than 2 months after install. The smoke detectors trigger without cause on average every other month. There is no smoke, dust or obvious cause. My wife made multiple request for service or evaluation of the system however the only response we ever received was to check the batteries which are new.

    The door bell camera that was installed continuously lost connection and when the tech would come to evaluate the situation it would typically take over an hour for them to trouble shoot the issue. After installing a second, brand new doorbell cam, we still experienced the same connectivity issues. Due to the low quality of the device in general and multiple connectivity issues I removed the device and installed a doorbell cam from a reputable company. It does not connect to the ADT system but at this point I no longer care, at least the new one works. After 1.5 year and a lot of patience we are finally willing to pay their horrible cancellation fee and be done with them. Given the poor quality of their equipment and horrible customer service I would not recommend this company.

    We needed security and we read that ADT was supposedly the best one. But right now, I have a box that needs to be updated according to what I’ve seen on the website. Trying to get things done doesn't always go as planned. If something is out of date and you have a more up-to-date system, there would be someone who would say they need to upgrade our system rather than you continue to do with an older system and you up to a newer system. When we needed a battery with the older system, we had to call them. Then, you gotta pay for the battery and the service for the person to come out, which doesn't make sense to me. If you've been with somebody forever, that doesn't work good. It was trying to get to a human when you're dealing with the machine.

    The only reason I have not changed is because, when you're loyal to somebody and you've been there for years, you think at some point you would get a return on that. We give people a chance. We don't just jump from one company to the other. You have to investigate to make sure you're getting the best service and the best that you are doing overall for anything.

    A gentleman who was very young came to the door and he managed to convince me that the system would be a good idea. It wasn't going to cost much of anything and it provided a doorbell camera. It would be helpful. But it turned out to be a complete failure. I've been extremely unhappy with the ADT system and found out that it was cost-prohibitive to cancel. So, I'm waiting until the year is up before I do that. The way it was installed was very poor. It comes off the door and keeps needing to be replaced. I stopped replacing it. The doorbell camera part works fine but the alarm on the front door was a problem and we eventually had to disable it. I spoke with somebody, indicating that I wanted to have it removed, and they were the ones who told me there would be a huge charge for doing that.

    I've had issues with ADT’s product and with reaching out to have someone come out to repair it because I have a warranty on my plan. When they come out, I don't have to be charged a service fee. But the last time they came out, they charged me that fee. I was trying to understand why. The doorbell camera was the first camera that I got and they kept not charging. So, the techs had to install a wire plugged in through my house. And since then, I haven't had any issues. But before they did that, I had five technicians out. At first, they couldn't find out what was going on. The last guy figured it out.

    I haven't had any issues with the doorbell camera but I have other cameras in my house. I have one in the front yard and another in the back yard. I like the cameras but every so often, I have to unplug them and plug them back in because they lose connection for some reason, and it does that a lot. When I complained about it, they told me how to fix it and I just fixed it. I like my service as well as the app to view what's going on and to disarm and arm when I'm not around. The last time I had a billing issue, I spoke to a gentleman. I understand I was late and there was gonna be a late fee. But I was being charged almost triple. The gentleman fixed it but I had to call them out on it. I haven't had a reason, though, to not wanna stay with ADT.

    ADT has not kept our home safe: thermostat caused ac to break (had ac/electrician verify this in front of ADT tech), adt had a technician that came to my house high and refused to get off my property. Kept walking in my front door. Same technician lied and said problem was resolved in report, Adt wanted to charge me $400 to have a technician come out because ADT's door lock would not work. (We went to Lowe's and bought a new door lock system). ADT was comfortable with the fact that we could not lock our front door, where is the security?

    The technician who originally did install lied about what equipment they had available, also claimed things could not be hard wired and only battery operated equipment. We since have have had AC/electrician put in a thermostat that was easily hard wired. Our doorbell was not installed to have any working function, we still have a doorbell that does not work. ADT has caused us thousands of dollars, caused our ac to blow due to their faulty equipment, and ADT is forcing us to allow a technician to come to our house in order for us to begin process to cancel. ADT has not kept us safe, and instead has caused us to feel unsafe, even with its employees. We have credits for future months, but all we want is for this company to let us out of contract. Customer service does not help, and refuses to escalate this to someone who could possibly help. We choose ADT to keep our home and our family safe, ADT has not upheld this.

    I used to really like ADT. When I first got it, I was paying 30 bucks a month and then they said that I got an upgrade and they were only gonna raise it 10 bucks but that wasn't true. I pay 60 something a month and an additional 9.99 charge for the equipment. Also, ever since I had this machine, it has not worked. It constantly beeps and says it's a low battery. I've changed the batteries and I've called and they said I need to reset it and gave me the instructions but it still doesn't work. It still gets the flashing button. I have not used it in over a year and it bugs me that I'm paying $70. I haven't experienced the good things about this more expensive upgrade that I got. Even one of the gals that I spoke to was in disbelief that I was paying so much and apologized.

    I don't have an issue with the quality of the service, though. If my alarm goes off, I'm always getting a call and they show that they truly care. But I only owe like $200 and then I'm probably gonna leave ADT. It was very disturbing and upsetting. If you see that a client is struggling with their system and they've called multiple times, send somebody out.

    ADT is a crock. A door to door salesman came by to our house. he was polite but pushy. He told us all of our Vivint equipment would be able to be transferred, specifically the thermostat. He did say we would have to buy Google products. He also did not go over any cancellation policies because "we were coming from Vivint so we did not need to go over it". When the installation crew came to install they told us the salesman was wrong. The thermostat was not compatible. The next day our door camera and outdoor camera were not online. We called to get someone to fix it, they said they would send a tech... Never came.... After trying a contractor through ADT to come work on it minimum 10 times, (dude never picked up and never got a call back).

    After hounding the salesman for weeks (who became MIA after the sale) he set an appt for us to get it fixed. Never came. We switched back to Vivint. In order to get the buyout was on a phone call for THREE hours to get the buyout amount. And when I was told we were all good. The following month we received a 22$ charge as they did not get a 30 day notice. NEVER once was that discussed. EXTREMELY disappointed.

    The installer had a lot to do. He had to install as well as find the wiring. It was an old system that was installed here before I moved in, and there were some things that he had to rewire. He had to rewire doors and a couple of windows. He was very efficient, and I’m pleased with the way everything's working. We hear chimes every time we open the door or a window.     There are some things that I like better about Vivint than ADT. The price per month is more expensive with ADT. My monthly fee at Vivint was $33 a month and that included the financing of the equipment. I'm paying $60 a month with ADT. It's a little much considering I bought all my equipment outright. The installer was phenomenal but as far as talking to anybody on the phone, it's been awful. But I don't think it's the people I'm speaking to that are at fault as much as it is the systems that are in place through ADT and the dialogue that they have to follow.

    There are a lot of good things in the ADT system, but there are a lot of faults as well. When you record a clip, there's a timer in between, and it'll record a delivery truck pulling up, but it won't record them walking out the truck with the package. My clips always fill up and I don't get footage unless I go in, erase it and reset it, which is crazy to me. I have to call every month. I've asked ADT to call me back multiple times so I can purchase an SVR system and have 24/7 recording. But they have yet to contact me and they never have an answer for me. It's frustrating.

    The app has a lot of awesome things where it could connect to the lights. It's a one-stop shop for a smart home. But when you buy a security system to have the video recording and alerts, it's a huge misstep on ADT's part by not making those things better. I'm not happy with my service with ADT and I've gone back and forth about canceling it. I'm gonna switch back to Vivint once I purchase my new home.

    ADT provided information about the package that I was getting. The young man that came out and set up everything was very informative and showed me how everything worked. However, I felt I got lied to when I signed up, and I'm stuck in the contract. I was told that I would get a $200 Visa gift card but I never got that. I was also told that my bill would come out on the 18th of every month but it comes out on the 4th of every month, which throws things off.

    The system is very flawed. It gets triggered really easily if you accidentally bump the sliding door. Even if the alarm isn't set, it will start going off and making this loud noise. If you close a cabinet, it'll say the back glass is broken. Also, in the beginning, it was delayed on giving me updates when people was in my front yard. But that's finally caught up. I tell everybody I love the cameras. It keeps me up-to-date and lets me know who's in my front yard. If I wanna open the front door, I have the option now 'cause I know if I wanna talk to them or not. I've told my sister and a couple of my close friends about the camera services because they live in a similar area where it's not so friendly.

    I've been with ADT for 20 years, but I'm not happy with them. I tried to get just the smoke detectors working, and they wouldn't let me do that.     ADT's in-home service has been wonderful. I had a sensor and couldn't figure out where it was. It needed a battery and a technician came over to do it. But calling is not good because sometimes the voice of the person on the line is hard to understand. Other than that, I feel satisfied with the system. I can go on my phone and set the alarm or take it off. The only thing was at one time I thought I was supposed to have been given a rate reduction when I changed my camera, but I have not seen that. I've had some upgrades and one was to the doorbell camera. I'm paying 70 something dollars a month and my son is paying 49.

    I got some feedback in the mail about ADT, and when I moved in February, my Dish person told me that they were also working with ADT. I signed up for ADT through Dish, and it was a perfectly positive experience. However, the price could be less 'cause SimpliSafe is much less than they are. I was also told I was gonna get a $250 gift card when I signed up, but I never got one.

    The technician was a very nice guy. Installation was not more than 45 minutes, but I had lots of questions. When I was trying to figure out how to get another camera, I learned that other than the initial one that ADT provided, everything else was extra. I said, "I only get one camera? That wasn't very fair." Still, I'd recommend ADT.

    I don't like ADT. They limited me to what I could get. I wanted the camera outside but they said I couldn't get it. When I moved to the house, there was already a camera but it couldn't be hooked up. Also, you can't get them on the phone. It takes a miracle to get them. If you try to call in, you'll be on hold at least an hour. I would love for ADT to come back out. I want my doorbell to be hooked up with it. They also told me in the beginning that I'd be paying 14.95 for so long and I'll be paying my bill monthly. But I'm still paying for the equipment. They don't ever run out.

    I've not had the best service with ADT and I wish I'd gone with CPI. I have ADT because I live on six acres and if somebody comes and tries to rob the house, at least I got them on camera coming up the driveway. But once ADT puts the system in, they forget about you. Sometimes the system starts to act up. It starts to beep. When the fire alarms went off at 2 o'clock in the morning, they put me on hold for 20 minutes. Then they told me I gotta change the battery in the fire alarm. I'm 72 years old and my fire alarm is way up on the ceiling. I have to go get a ladder. I was ready to take it and throw it out the window.

    ADT needs a lot of improvement on their customer service. It's poor. When you call for help, you can never get anybody. I think I can get ahold of God faster. All I wanna know is how to change the date 'cause it's not in there. They'll have you on hold then tell you to go to the manual but I never got a freaking manual. I had a third-party that helped put it in and they didn't explain it very well.

    The enrollment part with ADT was great. A person came out, explained the system and hooked it up. The system does what it says it's gonna do. It makes me feel good that I know no one has been in my home when I'm gone, or I'm going to know if someone comes in when a window or a door opens when we're sleeping. I know that nobody's gonna come in without us knowing. I have a sense of security but it's not user-friendly. We have a problem dealing with the app and getting things to work even though we're reasonably computer-literate. We use the alarm, but we don't know how to use the doorbell. Nobody told us about that. The tech that installed it did not know about it either. He was super nice but told us things that are not correct. He said when the alarm goes off, there'll be someone to talk to you. You would say the password into the monitor on the wall but that's not correct.

    As far as getting online and trying to change things, we have not been successful doing that. There are two websites to go to, ADT or Alarm.com. I don't know why there are two and when I contacted someone, they just referred me to a menu I could download and go and look in. But that didn't help. Our notifications are not on as well. When someone comes to the door, we don't get our notifications on our phone anymore.

    I am 84 and I am not a computer person. It's too complicated for me to figure out how to make things work when something goes wrong with my ADT system. They gave me instructions, but I don't understand what I was reading because my vocabulary is not geared to the computer. So I just gave up and I haven't had my security working for more than a month. The price is much too expensive because I'm not using it. But I'm connected to ADT for two years and everything else is working fine. It's just that one thing. I have the possibility that I'll get some help shortly, and if I can find somebody that can figure out what's going on, then I'll get it back working again.

    ADT should have somebody that would be able to come out for a reasonably small fee. I don't want to pay $100 for somebody to come over. But I'd be happy to pay somebody $20 if they could come over and figure this out for me, then perhaps show me exactly how I make it happen. They probably explained it when they first set things up but at the time, they talked this fast. And once they left, I didn't have an idea what they said. Other than that, the people I talked to at ADT have been pleasant and very nice.

    I have ADT for about 30 years now and I really haven't had many problems. But any time I did have a problem, if I called, they took care of it instantly over the phone or they were out here in no time. If I have a false alarm, they always give me a chance to get to my keypad. Also, they call and leave messages that my alarm went off, but someone in my residence turned off the alarm. So, I never worry about them. The system always works for me. If I have a low battery, it will show that until I change it. And that happened recently. I wasn't sure how to change it and I asked my handyman but he wasn't sure either. He didn't want to fool with the box, so ADT's techs came out here and changed it. They didn't charge me and said it was part of my service.

    With all the things that are going on in the world right now, we didn't feel safe. ADT has been advertised and out there for many years. So, we went with them at the time. Also, I called around and they were pretty much not the most inexpensive, but they were not really expensive. Their service has always been satisfactory and they've always helped with the issue if there was one. We've never had any problems with ADT and it's fairly easy to contact their reps. I like that we can set the alarm and be gone and out of the house and feel that it's safe. We can also control it from our phone and I like that feature, too.     My ADT system runs like a clock and there are no complications. I'm used to the panel and the price is right. They've been treating me well and they keep in touch with me here and there to make sure everything's flowing smoothly. Thank God nobody has broken in in here yet, so the system has got to be working some way. But it's very hard to pull one of their technicians up. I asked a few times for them to come over here and check the batteries, the door, and the windows because I'm not familiar with the whole system. But they don't let them go that easily and it costs money.

    When the system was installed, I had a tech out and he did a very complete and neat job. He put everything in the proper place and was very slick. He gave me the password to get me going but he wasn't explicit when it came to directions on how to use a lot of things. He just rushed in and rushed out. I had to call in multiple times to ask the girls over there on how to use certain things and what some things are for. And I still don't know how to replace the batteries, or an indication when they are low. I also don't know what type I got to use because there's a specific type of batteries that I have to use, otherwise, the system won't function right. He should have told me this right from the beginning. But maybe he did it so many times that he thought I knew. Also, he also didn't talk that much and he gave me a booklet. But it's a much better experience when somebody shows you something versus reading a book.

    Other than that, I'm glad I associated myself with ADT and I'm very happy with their services. They're a very good company and I would recommend them to anybody. I talked to one girl down there and I asked her if this alarm would go off when my internet goes down. She said no because it runs by a cellular network, too. So if the internet fails, the cellular picks up. That's a good feature because sometimes the internet goes down here when they're doing work on the wires. And it could be overnight. So ADT's system is more secure than a Ring camera or a Blink camera because they get that cellular to back them up. If my Ring camera doesn't work and my Blink camera doesn't work, then my internet goes down, I got no security here. But with ADT, it's still going even so.

And if I have a camera at point A and another at point B, there's a 30-second delay. So if someone walked up my driveway, it would trip the garage camera and that wouldn't come on for 30 seconds. So, if they tripped the front door camera and somebody would come into my home that was not supposed to be there, there would be 30 seconds things could happen that would not be recorded. Other than that, the service is good and I don't like the headache of changing to another service.

    This is my second time doing ADT, and I started when I moved into this home in 2020. I thought they were the most reliable. However, the service is disappointing. A month or two after, in 2020, when I had them put the system in, the news came out about the ADT agent out of Dallas that was somehow viewing some other person's cameras that he put in their house. He had access to their in-home cameras and had access to stuff he shouldn't have had. Then I saw that my control pad that was put into my house was right across from a bathroom in our home. Also, when you call their customer service number, it was awful.

    I paid quite a bit of money to have that system installed, and a lot of the sensors on windows and fire detectors, smoke detectors, they had these certain lithium batteries that you could only use. They said they would last two to three years. There were two sensors in two windows that I would have to replace six times a year. I called and shared that with them, and they would never come out and do anything about it. They continued to tell me that I'm probably just buying bad or using old batteries.

    The camera doorbell that they installed went out. I had to have them come out for that a couple of times and finally I gave up. My doorbell doesn't chime ever since I've had them in there. It's like screwed that up. The list goes on and on. I tried and I tried. Even after the contract ended, I still continue to try. Every time I turned around, I was having to replace the battery, and those batteries are not cheap.

    The last straw was a smoke detector that wasn't working right. They said, "Well, it's probably time to replace the smoke detector." I said, "What? How long do they last?" They said, "Oh, anywhere from five to seven years." I said, "Well, it's been four years." There's always something. It was horrible. A technician came out to service our home, and he was not very friendly. It was almost like I was putting them out of place for even having to come out. I shared my concerns. In one of the cameras, there were Wi-Fi issues. I live in a ranch and the Wi-Fi wasn't reaching the camera. So, I had to buy an extender. And even going back a couple of questions, the system is not user-friendly. The setup, certain times to record stuff, you've got an app for this, and then you've got one certain website for this, and then you've got another website for it. They've over complicated it.

    I liked their claimed ability to integrate the cameras into the alarm, but it didn't happen. I have two cameras that work nearly all the time, one in the backyard and one pointing at the garage. But I was never able to get a very clear image on the one at the garage. I check the front door periodically and 1 time out of 10 it's working. Other than that, the system that is here has been basically bulletproof. It was a long time before I had to change the batteries in the motion sensors. I've got three of those.

    I've been on my ADT a long time ago and whenever someone comes out, they're gonna fix my system because it's not looking like it's supposed to. I need them to come out because the doorbell is not working. The dial pad is saying that it is offline. So, everything is offline. I've been calling them but they always took me to this department.     Get ADT over the alarm system we had prior to this. It's reliable. My dad has ADT, so he said to give them a call, and I did. They came over October five years ago, they installed the system, and it has been great since. Customer support is helpful. A lot of times, they wanted to send me to the website and they wanted me to log in, but I'm not of that generation, so I like to talk to someone. Sometimes I would have to wait a bit. But I could get a person to speak to when I needed help. I don't always like being sent to a website with email, a user name, a password. I would be, “Can you just help me?” And they would.

    There were a couple of little things with changing of batteries, but if I called that number, they would work me through it. Some things needed to be tested once I change the battery, and that worked out great. We had two other little issues with batteries that had gone. The whole part needed replacing. One was the fire alarm. And the second was the one lower to the ground that we have in our living room. That also needed replacement. We made it in time for the warranty because it would be up like in three months, so we got those replaced. But when the technicians said they would come, they come within their range. And I always have had a good experience with ADT.

    I found out that my house wasn't fully covered by ADT. I have windows replaced and this whole time, I was with them for over a year. I found out at the time my windows were replaced that my windows didn't have any sensors on them. I called them up, and I was charged for the sensors, even though they said somebody in their office dropped the ball. I had to pay for a technician to come out and put the sensors up. That was the only thing with them that I didn't appreciate. You can get in contact with their customer support very easily. You just have to call the number. I have no problems getting in contact with them when I had to.

    I've had ADT since 2000, and they put me on a new contract back in 2016, which they periodically did. I'm frustrated at myself because I haven't dropped them already, which I'm throwing money out. I haven't been happy with them for a long time. They put in the system, and I was supposed to get the maintenance and everything covered on it, but I never had anything. If the system ever became obsolete or broken or they couldn't repair it or replace it, then they would upgrade it to whatever is comparable or better. That never happened.

    On top of it, I've got these little panels. They're almost like an iPad panel. They don't make them anymore. Periodically, when I threatened to leave, they were like, “Oh, then we found the refurbed one to make it work for a little bit.” I feel as though I don't even get monitored half the time. What I found is that the service doesn't really monitor. There were periods of time when it wasn't being monitored because they weren't getting a signal. They never called to say, “Hey, you've been offline for six months.” Someone could have gotten into the house. I went away and then the alarm went off, and someone should have been dispatched, but I never even got a call.

    I have a video system inside the system, and that works. The issue is if I get rid of them, those cameras won't take over. I purchased new cameras that work on a different system. So, I am gonna leave them at some point. I really gotta get rid of them. They tell me, “Yeah. We don't make that anymore, but we could go ahead and upgrade the system.” They're willing to come in and upgrade it, but at a charge, where I'm gonna have to pay and I'm gonna get into a contract. I tell them, “No, no, no. My contract ended a long time ago.” On top of it, they changed the terms and didn't tell me a couple of times. I don't feel they're a very ethical company as far as how they deploy services and how they handle the customer at all. They changed the service and I still pay maintenance on it, which is even more silly. They're horrible. They don't deserve my business at all. I wouldn't recommend them to anybody on the planet.

    ADT's sales representative was great. However, ADT had a problem installing a camera on my front porch. They should have used a stud finder to locate some horizontal studs in the wall. Instead, they drilled first and tried to install the camera and run wiring down to an electrical outlet. But there was a horizontal stud that blocked them from doing so. The final result was we installed the camera a foot lower than where they had tried to install it first, but that took three visits and countless hours that they were there trying to work their way around that stud. They ended up drilling a hole through the wall from the exterior to the interior. I had a hole that I had to patch. It was not good. But everything works great. The panel, cameras, the notifications that I get on my app, everything is great now that it's properly installed. We also got smoke detectors after the fact, and they were great as well.

    ADT would give me a free camera for the outside because I've been with them for a while. But I couldn't do it because my WiFi wasn't any good. I finally got good WiFi and they came out again, but they couldn't do it because they say they needed a hard drive instead of having a hot box like I got. The tech said, "We're trying to get that where we got a hot box or something. We could do something like that." That was the end of that. So, I didn't get anything. Other than that, the system functions very well. Sometimes I would leave a sunroom door open, and when I leave or I was on my phone and arm it, it would let me know that the back door was open, if I wanted to leave there like that and still activate the alarm, which is a good thing because sometimes I forget and I might wanna go back and shut it. But a lot of times I just leave it open because I got an animal that goes in there.

    Let's say I'm coming home from some place like that. I'm in a driveway. I would get on my phone and disarm the alarm before I got to my garage. So when I parked my car and I got out, I would not have to worry about turning it off, rushing because I know it's off already. The other thing is if anything went wrong, ADT would notify me right off the bat. We would not have to wait. They would explain something to me.

    The only thing is my alarm was going off. Something wasn't working and it was a bedroom window, that the battery was dead in it. ADT sent me batteries and they were the wrong ones. So I asked them, "What about these other batteries?" "We don't have those batteries. You gotta buy those on your own." "Oh, okay. No big deal." So, I just did that. But I didn't know anything about the batteries to start off with. Other than that, I have a good experience with ADT. I love them.

    My wife grew up with an alarm system her whole life and we got one. ADT is a higher-rated company and the service is usually good. Every time I've called them, I've been able to get through within five minutes. Everyone that I've talked to is very respectful and helpful. So ADT is doing fairly well. But there was one time I interacted with them when I got our camera installed and the guy’s tech support was lacking. I paid an additional fee to have a camera but it didn't work for about a year. And every time I would call them, they were gonna charge me to come and fix my camera again when I'd already paid for it to be in service. So that was weird and beneficial to them. But ADT is very good with customer service and I highly recommend them to everyone. Response times are well when the alarm has gone off. So I appreciate them. We like the company a lot.

    The first time the alarm went off, we hung some balloons in our house and left. The balloon set off the motion detector. It took me five minutes to get home so by the time I got there, I had already talked to ADT and the police were there. My sense of security is high and ADT brings a lot of peace to my wife. My wife is more cautious so she always watches our cameras and makes sure the alarm is set when she's not home.

    I've been in the security business for over 40 years before I retired and I knew ADT when they got started. It’s too expensive because it always goes up on the monitoring. Other than that, I have no problem. I have one of the older systems and it’s good. They were the ones that put it in, but I'm the one that designed it. It does exactly what I want it to do. I worked for the government for over 40 years in security and if my neighbors ask me, my recommendation will depend on what they are looking for in the system. As long as ADT does what you want and ask them to do, then you're in great shape.

    From the time we got our ADT system installed it's had issues. We also had an obnoxious installer who kept asking my wife to order pizza for him and his trainee. The day after installation the doorbell cameras stopped working. I removed them and found the installer hadn't even connected the wires for the doorbell. About a year ago I installed another window sensor on a basement egress window. It worked fine until the middle of the night when we were woke by an alarm for communication loss with the panel. I contacted tech support and asked if I needed a signal booster as the sensor was the furthest from the panel. All I kept being told was I could have a technician come out to look at it.

    I am a machine repairman and can do every type of home repair as well. I don't need to pay for a service call to tell me what I want to know. If I need a booster then just tell me so and how much it costs. We also have had nothing but issues with our doorbell cameras. I have replaced them twice. The tech support told me that the company knows that they aren't any good. They then proceed to try and sell me new cameras at a ridiculous price more than twice what you can buy them for online. As far as monitoring service goes they are awesome but the equipment and support suck.

    I am in a contract with ADT that I can't get out of, but I will never use them again. They're thieves. I had an alarm system from another company and I called ADT to get an upgrade to be able to have the alarm system work with the new windows. The rep said I could use everything I have. The new windows will all be wireless and I wouldn't need to have wired contacts for those. Everything else will work. They sent me a contract and they sent the guy out to install it but he said that won't work. They sent another person out and then they said what I was sold won't work.

    They turned around and they finally put together something that they said would work and when they got done, they turned around and said the sirens won't work. Part of the premise for the existing alarm system that was here before they got involved was that the sirens could be heard throughout the neighborhood and across the water. They put in new sirens and they sent me a bill for $600 for that. I told them they need to pay this bill because they told me it was compatible. Then, I went in the basement and I looked at the setup that they did. I looked at all the new smoke detectors that they put in and instead of covering where the old ones were with some sort of ring or using touch-up paint, there were two different colors there, the color of the old paint and then the circle that went around them.

    Also, there was this giant junk pile of wires just hanging out of the wall because they didn't bother to put in outlets to handle the power requirements that they had. They just put a plug strip with wires hanging out of the wall. I had to go back and fix it. I said I'd live with that but just pay for the sirens and they said they couldn't do that. And they told me it was a two-year contract, except it turned out to be a three-year contract. I called Nash to talk to the corporate office and they blew me off and did nothing to help me. I had to fix everything on my own, I had to pay for the sirens that I was told that I didn't need to have, and now, I'm stuck paying for three years for a contract that I can't exit. If anybody ask me about what I think of ADT, I'd tell them to not go there.

    After I put the ADT system in, I realized that the rep I dealt with was from a third party. They were an ADT service and sales center and they retained access to my system through a password that I did not have. So, as of today, I honored my contract with ADT and I have made all my payments because that was what I signed and agreed to do, but I have never once set the alarm for the whole three years that I have it because I don't trust them. And I immediately put a second alarm in in parallel.

    When I sent an email to ADT about my situation, I never heard anything back. I called and talked to somebody about that, and it was also ignored. I tried to get out of the contract based on that and it was ignored as well. So now that I'm coming up on my renewal, they want to know how my service is, and that's comical. The system is sitting in a box in my garage and it has been removed. The reason I just paid out the contract is because when I signed, it said that if I canceled before September 16th, 2024, I had to buy all the equipment and the equipment was, at that time, state of the art and very expensive. At some point, they reduced it because of a complaint that I had, and they thought knocking $10 off of it would change my opinion and make me stay, but it didn't. So, on September 16th, there's already a cancellation in.

    I got ADT because I had them before in a different state years ago. I told them about the system that I had in the house and she said it qualified so it was good enough. But when the installer came, he cut my existing ADT thing that was in the house and made me purchase a new system and he forged my name. He left the panel in the closet unscathed, but he cut the alarm system in every single room so he can put one of those transportable system. He put them wherever. I've tried calling and I even called his supervisor but I got nowhere. Also, he misaligned some of the items. I have to go and bypass the system to turn the alarm system on. I told them about the misalignment and they said I would have to pay a $65 service charge. And they told me they would send me a virtual person but that person canceled on me.

    I was desperate for service because my mother-in-law kept running away and I was afraid she was gonna die because this is the desert. I had to take care of her, my children, and myself. But any time that the internet is out and any time the power is out, the alarm is out and she walked out of this house several times because of it. I missed sleep hours and days of sleep. The installer took advantage and I paid for something that I didn't deserve to pay because he was a cheat. I would not recommend ADT to anybody. I'm just gonna wait until my time's up and then I'm done and I will never use ADT again.

    ADT is one of the more popular brands and I always knew about it. The phone calls are annoying and have not been enjoyable. But once you get ahold of the reps and they are in your house, helping with something, they’re very good, helpful, accommodating and customer-friendly. The monthly service is not very expensive but the start-up equipment costs a lot of money and more than maybe it would cost if you bought it individually. I'm still paying for the original start-up equipment as a monthly fee and it would seem silly because they tell you the monthly payment due is low but you end up with this fee for five years. I thought it was gonna be two years.

    Generally, ADT has been helpful. But they do the minimum in the sense that they leave everything to the customer to sort out. For example, some time ago my system wasn't working and I didn't know it. Apparently, they don't test if the system is working at all and if I want to check if the system is working, I have to do it. I don't see why that's the case. They say customer must check the system every month, but I wonder how many customers actually do that. So if I test it today and it works, then I decide to check it a month later, if it's not working during another week, I wouldn't know that.

    But ADT should be able to know that because it's all an electronic system. My system wasn't working for two months because I hadn't tested it for two months and I had no idea until I looked into this. Then I had to call them and they confirmed that it was not working. So it was ridiculous. And this sort of things has happened before. Once, it wasn't working for six months and it took me long time to sort it out and get a refund.

    Other than that, I've been able to talk to a rep when I call them and at the end of the day, if some unauthorized user gets in or something tries to open the door, the functionality seems fine. That alarm does go off if I accidentally open the door. If you don't switch it off or correct it, then within two minutes, ADT would call you to check. That has not happened recently, but it has happened in the past and a couple of times even the police have been informed.

    But this is like insurance. You have no idea how well it's actually working until something goes wrong. And with God's grace, nothing has gone wrong. ADT is also not proactive. I had somebody else, a small company, and they got bought by ADT so I got switched to ADT. I had that old system for a long time and ADT never reached out to me to tell me to consider upgrading to a better system. So they're just happy collecting your fees and they rarely make any effort. I did get my system upgraded about two years ago and that was a bigger problem. In fact, my ADT system wasn't working for six months, so it was only after that I got it upgraded.

    ADT is a well-known company, and I've had it for so many years. I'm satisfied with it. I have a very basic unit. I have the keypad. It's plugged in to the electric socket. I had somebody come out about a year or so ago to put in batteries for me, the smoke alarms and all the gadgets that come with it. They were a little on the expensive side, but it was worth it and I couldn't do it myself. ADT is good. The product works. It has a backup when we have hurricanes. It has a backup battery.     Original Review: ADT is responsive. However, there is a small upselling of certain things that once you get into it, it doesn't make good sense for you as a consumer. There's a close caption video thing that they set up. It doesn't quite work well and they don't support it. I was a little annoyed about that. I was like, "I can't figure this thing out and you guys don't service it. Why sell it?" But other than that, it's good. I haven't had any issues with them. I use their downloaded app and it's user-friendly.

    So far, I haven't had any problems with ADT. With any problems with the alarm system, I could get assistance and service and they either help me by phone or one of their technicians comes over and fixes the problem. Getting in contact with a rep depends with the workload. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes it's not. The last time I talked to them, it took a few days to connect because the guy was always out on a run or on a job. I suppose he was the only technician who could do the particular job.

    So far, the system's working properly. I feel safe because there were times when the system would malfunction and we would get a call back right away to see if everything was okay. The reaction is almost instantly, which is good and that's what you're looking for in the security system. I've heard that ADT is one of the best working systems around.

    We contacted ADT because they had a big sale going on and the guy came out and gave us a big spiel. When it was all said and done, everything he said was a lie and we'd already signed the contract. We've been out of the contract now for a year and a half and they went up from $40 to $95 a month. I contacted them seven times now telling them I no longer want their services, but they're still adamant about sending me bills and not shutting the service off. I quit paying them. They also have not responded. Also, all the machinery that they put in my house either fell off or broke. The next day, most of the sensors fell off the windows and the doors, I had to go buy some glue and put them back on. We hadn't been happy with the whole situation at all.

    Initially, when we got the ADT system, we had gotten it through a secondary vendor and they installed one of the sensors incorrectly. When I contacted ADT, they sent a tech out and they replaced the sensor in a new location for free. I was happy with that interaction. We don't use a lot of the advanced features. We have the basic system. We turn it on with the keypad either at night or when we go away and turn it off using the keypad when we get home. It's easy to use. One thing I like is that we don't have to have a landline anymore and we were able to get the cellular connection.

    I purchased my home and I wanted a security system. When I came here, the pad that was already here was ADT, so I called to set up a new service and I have nothing negative to say about ADT. It's not a long wait to speak to someone. If there's an issue, I could call them and they walk me through whatever I need to be done. When I need a service, it's easy to get a technician. Time was convenient. If I need a new battery, I call them and no issues at all. However, I had to stop my service because I'm working from home and I felt like it's just an additional cost right now. I just used it for basic things. I never learned how to put it on stay because if my son decided he wanted to leave or he had a guest come in, then it would just wreak havoc on everyone else. The chime would wake me up and I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep. It scared me.

    ADT was offering a free camera promotion and I knew I wanted a system with cameras. Recently, we had a thunderstorm and my cameras went off service and I had to deal with their technicians. They were super friendly and quick to get it back online and they were helpful. Instead of giving me an 800 number to call back if it still didn't work or I had other problems, they sent me their direct email with ADT to reach back out to them. I didn't have to go back through a ticket system and I thought that was very helpful.

    I like their system. That's one of the reasons I stick with them. I've had them for at least eight years. I had them at my old house and this house. The system is super easy to use. The app is user-friendly. Also, the installation process was very easy as well. My camera systems work very well and I like that I'm alerted when I'm supposed to be.     My husband was an electrician, and he installed our security system 40 years ago, but when the time came for updates, he had ADT come in and re-do the system to update it so that it was now a part of ADT. Up until then, it was just something we had that didn't have any monitoring. Since signing up for ADT, they've come two times. One was at my request because there was an issue, and at that time, they said, "You know, this might be the time to update, not upgrade." So, they put in the new pads and a couple of new sensors. At one point, I didn't have a sensor on the front door. There was another time somebody came and that was when they tried to make things as close to wireless as possible.

    I'm reasonably happy with ADT. We have a number of people in the neighborhood who have had two different security systems in their front yard and I always wonder, "Well, which one are you using? One or the other?" I've had no negativity towards ADT. So, when people ask me, I always give them good feedback because that's the way I feel about it. At this point though, I don't want any updates.

    ADT keeps increasing their prices every year. I have another security system at my other home in Cape Cod and they never increase their prices. Another thing is, every night, for at least an hour, my security system goes offline. I called ADT about it, and they sent someone here. I get notices that it's offline, then it's restored. The guy who came said, "Oh, we can't fix this. This has to do with the cell tower," and then they tried to bill me for that service call. I argued it with him and I got the charge reduced. I shouldn't have had to pay anything though. I've not been happy with ADT at all. I don't know why I haven't changed.

    Some door-to-door salesman came up and sold me a two-year contract with ADT, which I wish I never signed. He was a little bit pushy, but he was polite. The installation went fine except for they didn't replace the transformer for the system. They just used the existing one that's been there for 15 years. And later, it went bad which caused my battery to die at the panel. I called them and they promised me a battery. They sent me a battery. But it never came and I never heard anything back from them.

    I called them again because the battery was dead and they said they would send a technician out. And the technician never showed or called. Nobody called me to tell me that he wasn't coming. So I called again and explained that to them. They said that I could screw the two wires that came out of the transformer and explained to me how to do it. So I just did it myself. Then, the transformer recharged the battery that was in the panel and I've been having some problems with my panel ever since. Sometimes it randomly flashes red like something's wrong, then I got to go ahead and enter the code. So I've got a pretty bad experience with ADT service-wise. When my contract is up, I'm going to cancel ADT.

    The ADT installer was very obnoxious and did a lousy job. We found out the next day that the video doorbells weren't connected properly and I decided to do the connections myself. But the service as far as monitoring goes is fantastic. ADT calls right away when there’s an issue. But as far as customer service, when you have a problem, ADT is horrible and I can't stand it. I've had an ongoing issue for months and I've also had issues with doorbell cameras, and all I get are lame excuses. I'm considering switching to a different company.

    The system works. It's easy to push into disarm and into alarm. It's self-explanatory. But sometimes I have to push the arrow because it wouldn't work. And I would have to push the arrow and start over. I would call ADT and sometimes it's confusing to see what to do. But we would get it worked out. Sometimes I would try to put in my code and it wouldn't work. And sometimes when I do that, the alarm would go off, and I would be there trying to put in my code. Sometimes I would get a call from ADT. One time, I thought I took care of it and left. I had an appointment. I didn't answer the phone call. And the policeman or fireman came.

    I've been in EMS for years, and I've been with ADT pushing 20 years. I've moved several times and I've just transferred it from one place to the other. The main reason why I chose ADT is the dependability and products that work. Also, which I'm a little disappointed now, but I like that the vans are painted up ADT, and there is a sign in the yard that your neighbor and the burglar sees. I can't imagine anybody trying to break into a house that's got an ADT sign.

    The most disappointing thing that I think is going on today are the fees that they're charging now. I've got a dead battery up in my heat sensor. It's on the ceiling. I've had a stroke. So, I can't get to the ceiling right now. The other day when I was talking to them about shipping the battery, I said, "What would a service call to my house be to put that battery in?" They said $100. I don't ever recall fees like that, but I guess it's the economy and what's going on. I just think $100 is outrageous. It would take them five minutes. You walk in the door, put the battery in, and walk out. I'm just thinking if those are the rates, then I'm not gonna be able to afford to have them come to my house. In the old days, that's what I like to do. They come and know what they're doing.

    The installer who came that day was a lady, and my landlord can be a pain in the butt. She had to drill a hole to put the box up, and he said something like, "Here, here, here. Let me show you that." She said, "Sir, I've been installing ADT 18 years. I know exactly what I'm doing." I think it was a woman thing with him, too. She got her drill and punched the hole up top and ran the wire down to the bottom and it was done. I'm an ADT customer born and true. I just can't figure why anybody would wanna do something off the internet if it saves them 20 bucks. I don't want the internet. I want somebody I can call. I'm in fire service. I own my own ambulance business. I just can't imagine anybody that could say something about ADT because nationwide they're on the ball.

    I had a hard-wired system. Then ADT put this Wi-Fi thing, and I don't like it but they don't have anything else and I'm stuck with it. So as soon as this up, I'm gone. I'll find somebody else. They put that thing in not too long ago. I didn't know they were gonna do that. I was with another company for 30 years, and ADT bought them out, and all of a sudden, they called me and they changed their system. It came in and they didn't tell me exactly what it was gonna do. I'm not wild about it. It doesn't do half of what my other system did. They put this thing in here and nobody even knew how to work it. I'm constantly calling them because things are going on.     I had a very good experience with Joe trying to figure out why I got at 2: 18 in the morning a notification from ADT that my dining room window was open. The message kept going on for three minutes. It was at 2:18 in the morning. We jumped out of bed and ran around like crazy. Sure enough, we found the window that was not locked with Joe because we went through all of them, and locked it. And in the house, I found five windows that were not locked.

    Joe asked me about the alerts. Turning the system on when we leave, and up in Hurst. I had turned the alarm on when we left on a vacation, and the alarm went off while we were gone. My sister-in-law was my contact there. She lives close to me, and she had a key to the house and let the cops in. There was nothing wrong. And I got fined by the city of Hurst for a false alarm. So, the main thing that we use ADT for is a deterrent with the signs.

    The signage is very important to us. The signage is the first thing that keeps people away. People that are out looking to break into houses or to cause trouble want to mess with somebody who has a security system. ADT is our first line of defense. I got stickers on the windows and I want more signs. The signs don't last that long. I get two free signs a year, and by then, those signs are broken. We have weather here that is over 100 degrees and it wears on that plastic. So if I could have sturdier signs and more of them, that would be great.

    Letting me know when windows and doors are open is also improtant to us. Because sometimes we leave doors open, and we would get a message that the door has been open for over five minutes. And I could go through the activity. It's like having my father around. He's not alive but he was, “Hey, close the door.” I always recommend ADT to anybody that has a house. Anybody. Or a rental. It keeps people out. I don't think people wanna mess with it. The one thing I talked to Joe about was extending our service to more cameras. I like the Ring doorbell we've got, but that was with the house when we bought it. So, I'm thinking about augmenting the camera service.

    For the most part, the ADT system works fine. But we get some odd readings at times and it's hard to figure out when I get a low battery or figure out which one is telling me it is. We've got a basement, a main floor, and the upstairs. I purchased two extra alarm signals so that we can hear it when we're in bed or in the basement. I had the alarm on in the basement when I was in the basement. Something went by the door and I opened the basement door to see what it was. The basement relay alarm did not go off, so I didn't know it was going off. My wife had to run from the upstairs down to the main floor to turn it off.

    They're not dependable as far as when they go off. This is the first time that one or both of them hasn't went off when the house alarm did. I also don't care much for ADT's customer service at all with their "that's how it is” kind of attitude. They're overpriced as well. Their monitoring fee is way too high and I can get it a lot cheaper. I haven't but we're gonna move soon and I'll consider it then.

    Our experience with ADT has not been great and we're leaving them. I didn't have too many issues with the people that I spoke with. They just couldn't help. Our biggest issue is that we were with ADT and then we left them. We went with Reliance and they bought them out so we ended up back with ADT. The equipment that Reliance installed is still having issues and ADT can’t fix it. They wanted us to pay $1,300 to upgrade the service. And I wasn't doing it. The reason why it was messed up wasn't our fault so, we didn't feel like we should.

    I heard about ADT about 20 some years ago when I first moved into my condo. Everybody gives you that pitch, what they do and how they take care of their customers so, I tried them. But they were garbage and I dumped them. I went with the company that ADT just bought so I got them again because they took it over. I can't stand it and I'm looking to leave them now. Their customer service sucks. When they took over Ackerman, I called and asked about the service. The customer service rep said I was not with them so they didn't have to talk to me. That's the nastiest reply you can give somebody, but you're getting their money.

    It's not that the reps couldn't answer. I respect people who tell me in the beginning they don't have any knowledge of that because I'm not wasting your time and you're not wasting mine. But they keep referring to Ackerman as this is their issue. Or they'll switch me to four different people, and I just hang up. ADT is doing nothing for my money.

    The whole package that I have is the monitoring. I have my own cameras that I monitor with but I have the alarm system with ADT that would have the motion detectors. I wanted to upgrade with Ackerman when I found out that they were gonna merge. And now I'm glad I didn't because I don't want anything to do with ADT. I have two friends, and we sit around and talk about ADT, and one of them has already gotten rid of them. They went because I had them in the beginning and after a year, they saw what I was saying. And my son went with something different.

    I live in Houston, Texas and I need to feel secure in my home. When I purchased my home, I purchased the security system from ADT and I installed burglar bars. So far, I've had no issues here. Recently, we had the hurricane Beryl to come through. The system backed up for a few hours then it went off. I would like for it to have a longer backup system because at the time, I had to leave and I couldn't stay in my home since I had no electricity. And this was in the month of July when it was hot. So that left my home vulnerable. But having burglar bars, I felt a little bit more secure. My system was out for seven days and I want to get a credit for that time that I didn't have the security.

    We also have ADT in our family home in Louisiana. I have converged more with ADT for a big family home in Louisiana than I have for Houston. I've had issues with the ADT in Louisiana when the system just started alarming. We found out that that system was burn out and we were told that we needed another system. So, since we wanted to keep that home secured, we had them come out to install the new system and it was upgraded.

    Contacting ADT is rather difficult. Like a lot of the companies now, they do this automation and you have to answer all of those questions even though you keep telling them that you need to speak to a customer service rep for something. And it takes them a while before they eventually would tell you to hold on and they'd let you speak to the next available representative. Normally, I become a little frustrated because I passionately don't like automation.

    All in all, with ADT in my home, I feel safe because my windows are barred and my system is on now. I'm 72 and I have to have that sense of security. When I go to bed at night, I have this ritual where even though I know I have not been at my house today and I know that that door is locked and my burglar alarm is on, I have to go and check before I go to bed. I do that and I can sleep. Also, because of the ADT sign that's posted out front, people kinda know. And they can view and see the bars on the window. I've also never had an attempted break-in.

    If you're seeking a security system that you can feel comfortable with, I would go with ADT. We were comfortable with our parents who are both elderly being in the house in Louisiana because the system was on. My mother knew how to operate it and they felt safe in their home because of ADT. And it's in North Louisiana which is a very small country town. But we, the children, had to feel that they were safe and we did by installing ADT at that house. And my parents have been gone for almost 15 years now but we still have the system to protect the house.

    When the house was burglarized, the system did what it was supposed to do. The people went and pulled the electricity box off of the back of the house but because the ADT system had that backup, when they broke a window and got into the family house, there was not a sensor on that window because they went into the bathroom window. Then when he went and opened that door, the alarm went off and it scared them away.

    So that's what we were glad of because had the system not worked, they could have truly caused damage. Then, at 4 o'clock in the morning, because my name is one of the contacts, ADT called me and they told me what happened. They did said that the police had already been notified and that I could call the police. So they did what they were supposed to do. And the only thing we had the damage was our windows because the burglars tried to check the front windows and they were throwing rocks to see if the sensor was going to go off.

    At the time I signed up with ADT, the price was cheaper. But now it's way expensive. Spending more money doesn't make me feel good and every month it’s something different. Other than that, the services are somewhat okay and the equipment does what it has to do. But it's a really large box, an eyesore, and all in all, I wouldn't recommend ADT. The price has increased, but there's no improvement of anything.

    ADT's reps are very respectful and they do great in their job. If your camera would stop working with your phone and you call, these guys are going to come out to see what's wrong. And the process is so not easy to get the camera working again. One day, I wanted to cancel so I called ADT and talked to one of their representatives. He was so kind, polite, and very encouraging. But there are a lot of services out there without subscription that perform the same services as ADT. You buy their equipment one time for 299, you put them at the door, then you connect them to your phone and you don't have to pay a monthly subscription. But for ADT, you pay $60 and they lock you in with three years, because they know you're going to find somebody that does the same service for free. So, even if you choose to leave, you're stuck for three years.

    I've been with ADT for years and I haven't added anything to it. I was happy with it until about a year ago. I've been very disappointed with the service because my equipment does not properly work and I haven't been able to get it resolved. I've requested to cancel the service or have management to reach out to me and they have failed to do so. They were supposedly looking into voice recordings on a call that I requested to cancel services because I haven't been able to get it resolved. My camera for my doorbell does not work. They've sent somebody out. I've done what they've requested. They came back out and it's still not working. The security system is good if it works, but they have horrible customer service.

    I've been with ADT for almost three years. The first year was with a local company and my experience with their customer service has been bad. They were rude to me. Where their cameras are, they kept messing up. Repeatedly, the system would go offline. The rep wanted me to go unplug them and plug them back in. But the thing is I don't have cement. It's gravel. I would have to get on a ladder to do that and I told them I couldn't do that. I'm almost 66 years old, and I'm on blood thinners. They told me it was $59 for them to come out and fix it. It was their mistake but I had to pay for it.

    If ADT is gonna contract out to somebody, they have to make sure those people are treating their customers right. Also, customers need to be made aware that if something goes wrong with their system, they have to pay $59 for somebody to come out and look at it. After the first year, ADT took over and I haven't had a problem since. It's a good service. The system works and it doesn't go off on its own. You don't wake up in the night with the thing going off and thinking somebody's in your house. I feel safe. I also have the smoke detector and I get a discount on my homeowners insurance.

    It's been good with ADT. I set the security system when I go to bed and turn it off when I get up. I’m satisfied that if I accidentally set it off, the phone's ringing. It could be a little cheaper on my bill though. I'm a senior on a limited income. I like to have the security of when I'm here at night or when I leave, but it's very expensive. There are a lot more out there that are cheaper than ADT now. I think that sometimes I'm paying for the name.

    The initial setup was extremely hard sell. I only wanted the minimum but the rep kept trying to sell me other stuff. I was also under the assumption that I was on a three-year contract with ADT, but my contract is held by a different company and they have raised my rates twice since I've had the system. When I read the small print, it said that it is handled by a third party and, after one year, they have the right to raise the rates. But it's an easy system to learn and operate. The couple of times that I have not shut a door when I left, they called immediately to make sure that there wasn't a problem. As far as that's concerned, I'm very happy with it. I'm not concerned if someone would break in during the night. I know that I would be warned. The siren is loud enough that I would hear it so I'm real safe. If I'm not there and someone breaks in, that will be handled also.

    I haven't been able to get the ADT system to work in over a year now. The alert for the basement window has been open for a year because their little thing down there fell off. It's cheap quality stuff that they put up. I had to pay off the installation and after I did, I was tempted to cancel it. I've tried to get them to have somebody fix it, but they said, "Just push the button and wait a couple of days then try it again." That didn't help. Plus I can't reach some of the cameras here. One of them is above my garage. I was told if I try to get somebody to come here and fix the problems, that I'd be charged for everything. It's not my fault the system's goofed up. I would automatically assume that a company would take care of their customers if something like that happened. Their price also is a little high and their app is different from online. I just wanna be done with them and go to something else.

    We had a little issue with where they placed one smoke detector in the house. They placed it right outside the bathroom door upstairs and when we open the bathroom door and steam comes out from the shower, they call. But other than that, the system works really well. We have window sensors and a sensor on the main door in the garage. One day, I forgot to lock the main door in the garage and we had a big windstorm that tripped the sensor saying that the door had been pushed in, but it was just heavy winds pushed the door in. My wife was seven minutes from the house and they called and asked if we wanted them to dispatch the police. I'm very happy with ADT. I'm not afraid it's some little cheap system and whenever we're not home, I enjoy being able to secure my house if I'm two minutes away or if I'm 12 hours away.
