    I've been a customer of ADT for about 15 years and I would recommend them. The ADT guy who came out to install at the new house was very professional and knew his job. He went over the controls really detailed so we understood and he even helped us get that on the phone. So, that was very helpful. It was also fairly easy to contact them. You just call the number and you have to go through their system. I like being able to look at the doorbell that's like a Ring doorbell and see who's there at the front door even when we're not home. The app on the phone is very easy to use, too. Just push a button and you're done.

    If I could leave ZERO stars I would. I've been a customer for 9 years and during that time most of my experience with ADT has been nothing but frustration. I'll never get another home security system again. Quality sucks. Value sucks. Customer service sucks. We're a military family (my husband just finished active duty) and are moving to be closer to his family. We are not getting a system on our new home.

    After 9 years (customer since January 2015) and the fact that I've renewed our contract twice, you would think that there would be some wiggle room at the end. Not only would they not release us from the last contract we signed in 2020 (which doesn't run up until July 2025), in order to cancel they charged us the full remaining amount on the contract. No consideration for military service, the fact that we could provide multiple confirmations of my husband's military service, and his exit from the service with an honorable discharge. They just want your money. I understand they are a business, but most businesses I have found will waive or lower their cancelation fees if you can provide a DD214 or something else showing severance from the military.

    Further, I didn't even find this out the FIRST time I had to call them. When I called and cancelled I was told ok, no problem and that was that. The next day I got a bill for the following month's service. Called to complain. "Oh, the person you spoke with told you you had to pay for the remainder of the contract." No. They didn't. You record everything. Go back and check for yourselves. "Sorry, sir, you're under contract and no other option." So I had to pay the money up front or pay for a security system in a house I no longer live in.

    Another issue I have with their service is that several times over the 9 years we've been with ADT, due to renovations or other considerations our system was unplugged and completely unpowered. Sometimes for several days, and once for several months. During that time I'd still get emails from ADT telling me that "My system is fully operational and responding to the network" and such. Tell me, HOW is that possible when there is no power? That was the beginning of me thinking that ADT was a joke. Now there is no doubt in my mind. DO NOT GET IT. It's little more than a scam to steal your money.

    ADT has great customer service when they are trying to get you as a customer. Once you have committed to a contract you can’t get any answers. They never return the phone even though that is one of the first things they ask when they answer in case we are disconnected. Can’t get a supervisor on the phone and they are always escalating your account to no avail. I regret signing up with Adt.

    ADT showed up at my house 3 days after I moved in claiming I had an appointment. And tried to scare tactic me into buying into their security system. I told the guy I didn't call ADT, and how did they know I just moved there. I also did not like the attitude of the salesman. He came across really pushy. Pretty shady in my opinion..

    I ordered ADT two-year service from a very nice field representative. Every month I pay. Recurring Services $54.00. Quality Service Plan $26.82. He told me I had to stick with the recurring service for two years, but I could cancel the Quality Service Plan at any time. After one year on the plan, I call the ADT to cancel the Quality Service Plan. 3 reps gave me a run around with an hour wait in line and asked many questions. I gave up. I called the field rep who set up my initial contract, and the guy promised to take care of it, but he never did, so I stuck with the Quality Service Plan $26.82 per month. Then, before my contract ended on 10/6/2024, I called ADT on 7/15/2024 to order not to renew my contract after 10/6. The rep made note of this.

    On 9/11/24, I contacted ADT through the MYADT.COM online account chat to follow up on the non-renewal order. The rep said ADT charged me an additional $26.82 for services from 10/6/24 to 10/10/24 because I needed to give 30 days' notice of cancelation. I said, but I put in the instruction on 7/15/24; it is more than 30 days' notice. Regardless of back-and-forth communication, the guy insisted on the exact 30 days. So, customers should beware: The ADT online rep and field rep speak different languages. Do not trust what the field rep promises. You have to be able to read the many-page contract fine print. The online and phone service reps are very polite, but they do not concur with what the field rep promises customers. With all of these time-consuming hassles, I will not do business with ADT again.

    Very hard to get through to ADT when I needed to talk to someone because I was always placed on hold for 10 + minutes, thankfully no real emergency. When my contract was up and I wanted to end my service due to selling my home I began calling requesting that my contract end effective April 1, 2024. This is now Sept 2024 and I have called every month, sometimes twice per month trying to get them to stop withdrawing the money out of my account.

    Every time I call I speak to someone that tells me that they see that my service should have been terminated on 4-1-24, they then transfer me where I have to tell the entire story a couple more times … Always ending with someone promising that they have it fixed and will deposit the reimbursement back into my account within 7-10 business days. ADT now owes me $850.00. Spoke to them almost one month ago and still have not reimbursed me .. We don’t even live in that home anymore. They will not let you out of a contract and they keep taking money out even after they have been told they need to remove credit card info. Horrible company, overpriced and they charge you monitoring for your cameras when I know for a fact that they do not even monitor our cameras. I was told that by an ex employee. Beware, ADT will not stop charging you after you discontinue your service with them.

    I purchased a home security system on 8/8, it’s currently 9/6 and I’ve never received equipment or the professional installation that was paid for. I’ve spent $1,000 on a custom package that I was hoping would keep my family safe. I selected ADT because I trusted a recognized brand but I was WRONG. I’ve spoked to so many incompetent representatives who are just outright rude. I felt like I was being pranked when speaking with these “professionals” and not a single one of them was able to help me. I forwarded the signed contracts, screenshots, bank statements, every bit of my order details to so many people and no one could simply schedule installation or find the account! Outrageous! At this point, I just want my money back so I can redirect my business to a company who actually values the customers they serve!!!!

    Customer service is excellent but the way they explain the pricing and plans are horrible! I’ve had more issues because of them not being forthcoming or explaining everything in detail to be understood. I’ve spoken to more reps to get an understanding only to find out the months they gave me free aren’t free but discounted and only for a month. I was told I would have two months on top of the other two months to help me financially because I’m losing my job. That was a lie. I’m truly disappointed, dissatisfied and feel like I’ve been taken advantage of.

    I've had ADT for over 20 years. In some cases, working with them is hard. In some cases, it's rough. I called them about my Ring doorbell. It took them forever to get that to work. They don't do customer service to me. What they want you to do is go out and try to figure out things yourself or go online and do it. I don't work for them. The best thing about them is the monthly price, but it still could be cheaper.

    I have been using ADT for almost 5 years. During that time, I have had many issues - from issues with the app, to ADT sending the fire department to my house without contacting me first. (Even though they said they did.) I called today (9/3/24) because I want to cancel my service and go with another company. When I spoke to a representative, they told me that I was under a contract. This is not true. They said that I started a new contract in June of last year, and that it also includes additional equipment. None of this is true! I asked them to send me a copy of my contract to my e-mail, and they didn't. They said, "It would take a day or two."

    I asked to speak to a supervisor. The representative told me that her supervisor was unavailable at the moment, and that she would call me by 8:00 p.m. tonight. I told the representative that if I did not receive a phone call from the supervisor by 8:00 EDT, I would file a report with the BBB and Consumer Affairs. I have already filed with the BBB because I was never called.

    This is the package that we wanted, this is the package we got, and we're content with it. But I question how ADT reads things. We were doing some painting in the house and I had to disconnect a sensor and I couldn't find any instruction how to bypass it and it set the alarm off a couple of times. ADT had no record of it until I called them. And once I told the rep what I had done, he looked in the file, "Oh, yeah, there it is right there." Who's paying attention to it? Why didn't they call me and say, "Hey, is something going on?"

    Sometimes it's difficult to get through to them. And most of the time, I get somebody who can't speak English or understand it and that would become frustrating. At one time, I had to call three times before I got somebody I could understand. Also, their online system could have more questions that they have pertaining to problems that could arise instead of just being limited questions that don't even apply. Questions pertaining to, "Why are you calling?" The problems that I had wasn't in there. And if I'm having that problem, somebody else has had the problem or will have the problem. I would think that they would have that covered so I could just punch that question in and get some kind of help online.

    On June 7th, 2024 I called to have my service discontinued due to moving and no longer needing your service. This task was not completed until August 22, 2024 after over 10 calls that lasted 1-2 hours of being transferred from one person to another. The rudeness and inconsistent service was truly appalling. As a long time (12 years) senior citizen customer I would have expected better service and treatment from a company that markets itself strongly to the senior community. To add insult to injury after all the calls and waits when my service was finally turned off then the charges removed, you charged me $14.02 as a discontinuation fee. I hope the $14.02 makes you richer! I will make sure to let everyone that your customer service is lousy and seniors can do better with other security companies!

    I called to setup and ask for ADT service on the phone and we agreed to some terms and ADT did something that never happened before in the business. They brought a contract and have my wife sign it when they installed the equipment. My wife did not know what is she signing on and it turns out that it is different terms than I verbally agreed on. ADT is a fraud. DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID. The equipment is yours if you cancel but it's not going to work because it's on their network!!!

    When we moved from California to Arizona, I had to buy the whole system all over again, which ran me about $2,000. I was not happy about that, but my wife wanted this system in the house, so I had to do what she asked me to do to put the system in. We had exactly the same system that we had in California, which we since have paid off. It was frustrating that we had to go through the whole process again to move the system. We brought everything with us from California, and ADT said, “That's obsolete. We can't use it anymore.” I said, “Oh, come on! You guys told me that if I was moving, I could bring everything with me and you guys would install it.” They said we had to start all over again.

    When they came and put the equipment in, they were in and out of there really quick. They put a couple of the sensors in the wrong position that we asked them to, and they said, “Well, we can come back and do it, but there'll be a service charge for moving it.” I said, “Well, you guys put it in the wrong spot in the first place.” When I try to get some assistance from the service department, there's always a charge for everything. In my opinion, it’s not good for ADT and for the customers that are using ADT.

    ADT wants to charge for everything that they wanna do. If I have a camera that goes out, they wanna charge me the going rate of 90 bucks to come out and just look at it to tell me, “Well, you should have tried this. You should have tried that.” I’m 90 years old. I can't be getting up on ladders where the cameras are at and do that stuff. My anticipation was that ADT should offer some kind of a customer care package for the elderly, especially if they're gonna be having issues with their equipment.

    Not only our equipment cameras, but we also have problems with our doorbell. It's called Google Nest, and all ADT does is, “Call Google. They're in charge of it.” They installed the equipment so they should be servicing the equipment. ADT's service is terrible too. We tried to do a couple of virtual ones, and we got nowhere. I’m getting to the point where it's almost not even worth having ADT anymore. If there was a way that I could make my comments on the ADT website, I will do it, but they don't give an opportunity to do that.

    We had some problems with the home base. We would arm it and we would be gone for a little while. We would see that it had disarmed itself. A couple of guys came out, and checked the system well, and everything worked good. We figured that the base is tied to our cellphones. They don't work in the country. Contrary to Windstream’s bragging about people would get a signal everywhere, that's not true. When we get bad weather, it doesn't work. And if it's not working, it shuts itself off. That's not ADT's fault other than they tied it to cellphones. People do that all over, and they're in cities where they get signals all the time, so they don't understand the country.

    The last lady that I talked to was sharp. She said, “Did they tell you that you need to do this? In other words, before you open the door, you set the thing for Away.” I said, “No, they never did say that. And I've always just done it whenever I went out the door, got outside.” She said, “It looks for you opening the door. You set it inside. Looks for you to open the door, and then the program starts arming for Away. And then it waits for you to close the door. And so, it tells you to be outside and then close the door.”

    We haven't had any problem with the disarming itself since then. But we still have a problem in that if we don't get a signal close to our house, it's a little hard to disarm trying to get back in. I figured, “If I can't disarm it, I'll go in and turn the alarm off.” At times, we have a dead area here for our cellphones. That's the reason we still have a home number, because it doesn't work 100% of the time. But since I only use the alarm and sensors, I'm perfectly satisfied with those. We had one door sensor that went out, and ADT had it to me the next day.

    Our house was robbed, thief broke the door glass and the alarm does not turn on, no motion detector. Nothing was worked.. The thief was 15 minutes in our house. And they can't explain anything, we just reported that their system didn't work, they get the report, That's it.

    For quite a while, I wasn't getting any notifications and wasn't getting a bill. They kept saying, “You should be getting an electronic bill,” but I wasn't getting anything. A year has gone by and I finally got somebody that had a brain that could tell me the reason I wasn't getting anything is I was set up on automatic payment. But even though I was on automatic payment, I wasn't getting an email. My bill would go up and I would have no idea why because I wasn't getting anything.

    Finally, I took myself off of automatic payment, and then I got a paper bill in the mail, which is stupid, but at least I can see my bill went up. And now I can call and say, “Why is it going up?” It took me a year talking to several different people, but recently, I had an issue with one of the sensors, and that person was fabulous. She knew what she was talking about. She gave me a contact so when I got home, I could contact her so she could help me take care of an issue. For the most part, they're good.

    My system is not working. I called ADT and they said that I have to get another component even though that I got a new one when they installed it. I tried to put the code on the alarm, but it didn't work. They don't understand the issue. They always are transferring the call from one department to another because they are not capable or don't have the correct knowledge about the service. They don't know the service that they're assisting for.

    I've been using ADT for years. I've had them here for six years, and I've had him at other houses that I've lived in. I’ve had some problems. My experience with customer service has been very good. They’ve always helped me resolve whatever the issue was. My only problem with them in customer service is they charge me to come out even if it's not my fault. I have to pay a service fee. But I'm satisfied with everything I have. The people on the customer service line have been very helpful and they stayed on the line with me for a long time while we tried to figure out what was going on. Also, having the video links now has also helped a great deal. With the video chats and all that where they can look at what you're doing, it has stopped my need for wanting someone to come to the house. I've been able to do it myself, although I sometimes have to get up on a ladder to change the batteries in the fire alarm.

    When the person came, I thought they came to give me an estimate and look at my house and see what I would need. They started installing the product. Didn't tell me how much it would cost before they started installing. When they were done, they had me sign a contract. They didn't tell me that I had 30 days to cancel the contract. When I had time to read the contract, it was 31 days and I was stuck in it for five years. So, I'm in it for five years. And when the time is up, I'm out. I called ADT's customer service explaining I wanted to cancel, and they said, "You're gonna be responsible for the contract, the payments for the five years." So, I thought, "I might as well just keep it for that since I'm gonna have to pay no matter what." I'm not happy.

    ADT provided prompt service and the install went smoothly. I contacted them concerning my Wi-Fi outage and how to troubleshoot my alarm pad. They were always really helpful and friendly. I never had a problem with them. The system is good but I don't get very good Wi-Fi at my house. I wanted to install some cameras and my Wi-Fi didn't support the cameras. The tech came out and said he could put them in but they'd be buffering with that little circle, trying to find service all the time. He was pretty honest about it.

    I've also never had people upsell me products from ADT and I didn't feel like I'm in a marketing scheme because they were all straightforward. So, this next Wednesday, I'm upgrading one of my shed doors that's not even connected to the house. I'm putting a sensor on that, then in the house, I'm doing one more motion detector and two window break sensors for window breakage. When I leave the house, I just set the alarm from my phone, and the app is really easy to work and navigate through. I'm not a very tech-savvy person, so if I get it, I'm sure a lot of people can.

    I like the variety of products offered by ADT. It's an all-in-one package. Someone comes out, installs it all, and I'm done with it. It's not like Ring, where you get the equipment and you have to install it. That was pretty nice. My experience with their rep was good, too. But I was a little shocked about how pricey each device is. They give you a free $2,000. But that doesn't really get you a whole lot. I wasn't really expecting that part. For the most part, I'm satisfied with my package. But I wish I had a couple more window break sensors.

Sometimes their customer service has been good, but sometimes they irritate the hell out of me. They're also expensive.     ADT is terrible. I've had issues ever since I've been with them. Their monitoring sucks. If the alarm goes off, they don't call to check to see as if it's not picking up the signal. I spoke with ADT a couple of times and they said there was a signal. They called me for the first time last week because I accidentally set it off. Sometimes, I have a remote. So when I'm coming the driveway, sometimes I may hit the wrong button. Most of the time, even with the other carrier, if I hit that wrong button and it went off, they would call me within a matter of seconds. I don't like that you have to call 5,000 different numbers and then the wait times are horrible as well when you call in. I've only had that system for about three years and they're saying I probably need another system. I'm not paying them for another system.

    The ADT system was giving an error message and would reboot. They told me how to reboot it over the phone. We're satisfied with ADT. It works really well and very little downtime. I can't even think when the system has been down. However, when you have a window replaced or some type of upgrade around the house, they wanna charge you full price for long-time customers. I have negotiated in the past to get a reduced price for the service call to change something out. I think that they should be more considerate of their long-term customers because I was about ready to leave.

    Having ADT is convenient. They meet our needs. We have the standard package which is all we need. It's perfect. In the last eight years that we've had them, we've only had one problem. I had called them because some of our sensors were alarming, and we couldn't figure out how to solve it. I thought it was the sensors on the actual unit that controls the whole house. They had told me, "We'll set you up with a virtual education on how to change that battery," but that never happened. I went on to Amazon to try and find different batteries but that didn't work out so I called them back. I had somebody walk me through the fact that it wasn't the battery in the unit that we were having problems with, it was the batteries that go into the individual units on each of the doors and windows. They gave us the proper education.

    I had a tech come for some minor issues like the sensors not working and different things. He had to come out a bunch of times but he was a nice guy. But the salesperson lied to me about a bunch of stuff that he promised that he couldn't do. I tried to contact him after I got the system about how he lied but he completely ghosted me. I never heard from him ever again.

    I bought the equipment and stuck with that. Either I go buy all new equipment or stick with them. I wouldn't mind paying the price if I got everything that ADT promised me originally. But for what I'm getting, the price is too high. It does the minimum. It doesn't record. If somebody comes to the door, I will not see them on camera until they already got in their car and left. If I have a package that was delivered and somebody walks up to the door, steals it and gets back in the car, I won't know till they're at their house.

    I had Vivint and their app worked better. Everything was in place in one app and everything worked. With ADT, I'm lucky for the cameras to work. I also gotta use several different apps to do the same functions that Vivint did. I have the Google app, the Nest app and the ADT app. I never had an alarm long go off. It goes off every once in a while but I never had anybody show up or call. It's a bad product, and I don't suggest it for anyone. I have buyer's remorse.

    We got off to a pretty rocky start with ADT. A lot of the sensors and stuff for the windows weren't working. Our house was kind of sprawling on one level and it's like a wireless system and a lot of the window sensors were too far away. But they worked it out, eventually. It was a subcontractor working for ADT in all the back and forth we had and then they switched to the ADT people and that was how it got solved. They ended up having to change out the whole system for a different type. It took a little while to get it ironed out but it seems to be working okay now. Also, they covered the cost to replace the system. But recently, just the other day, I got an email that said that they were increasing the rates, which I was not happy about.

    Other than that, I feel pretty good about the system. Having the sign in front of the house is a huge deterrent for someone breaking in and we have a little peace of mind with the carbon monoxide detectors because we're away at work and the dogs are in the house. And we have a smoke detector/heat sensor upstairs and we have a walk-in door to our attic up there. I left the door open one time and it set off the heat sensor. I was outside in the backyard and the fire department came to our house, which I was glad to know. The response was quick and it made me feel comfortable about the system working properly. But it was a note to self: can't leave this door open. It's too big of a shock to the system and it is hot in there.

    We do all of our transmission from the house to ADT through T-Mobile. Yesterday, we were down all day so we couldn't use our system. If it was available, we wouldn't have been able to use it. So I have no problem with ADT but we have a couple of problems with T-Mobile. The young man from ADT who came and explained everything and did the setup was very knowledgeable, nice, and capable. He did wonderful job and we've not had one hiccup, except for the Wi-Fi connection.

    The first time we had an issue, I was on the computer and my computer went down. My Wi-Fi went down then I got a message from ADT. They were notifying me that we had no service. Once they notified us, we got in touch with T-Mobile and they got a canned speech that said they were going to fix it soon. And they never did. The second time it happened, it drove my dogs crazy. I have two little poodles and at the time, the alarm would beep every 45 seconds and the dogs couldn't figure out where the beeping was coming from. On the one hand, it was funny. On the other hand, the poor kids were just nuts.

    Other than that, I have two bills with ADT, one is for monthly service and the other is to pay for all the stuff that they installed here at the house. $23 is one of them and $45 is the other. I assume that one of these days, one of the two amounts should disappear. It's not a lot of money, so if it doesn't go away, it's not a big deal. If it does go away, I'll be happy.

    The quality of ADT is the reason why we continue with the service. We had to have dual service for a few months. We had it at our first home and when we moved here, we started the service again. But we needed two locations for a while, so we continued the service at the first house. We would never go with any other company but ADT. The customer service has always been great and we've never had an issue with them.

    During the installation in our second home, everything was done on the same day. The installer we had wasn't the worst, but he wasn't the best. There were some discrepancies in the pricing and my promotion. He got a little testy at one point and I had to remind him I was the customer and I needed him to be careful with his tone when he was talking to me. He was in my home and I could just tell him to take all of the equipment and leave. Then I could contact ADT and have someone else come out. He got it together and he apologized. But that was something that didn't need to happen at all.

    Other than that, I would recommend ADT all the time. I do customer service for Verizon and when I had a customer who asked me if we sold alarm systems, I told her no. She then asked if I had one, what company and why. I told her I've had ADT since the 90s and I explained to her why. She said she was going to call them that day.

    ADT guided me on putting the wrong equipment in to a rental property then wouldn't release me from the contract. They said they'd send someone out to do new equipment but that person was unhelpful. When I contact customer service, people throw their hands up as they're not responsible. I'm not happy with ADT at all. I wouldn't recommend them to somebody and certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone who has rental properties.

    I don't care for ADT's customer service and I'm in real estate so all of my homes have security. They're very hard to communicate with. If you have constant problems with equipment, they make it very difficult to get service. It's hard to get ahold of them. They don't answer their phone. They wanna charge you crazy rates to come out and fix their faulty equipment. It takes a long time to get them out. So lately, I've been dissatisfied with ADT. But prior to that, I was satisfied.

    ADT is a good company. Sometimes it's a little hard to get to a person, but it works. I have a contract for five years and I'm three years into it. But I won't renew it. I'm paying $35 for something I'm not using often. I live in a really good neighborhood so sometimes I don't use it a lot unless I'm gonna be gone for a few days. I may look for something more cost-effective. There are so many others out there that people are talking about like the Ring. A friend of mine has a lot more options than I do for less money. For the doorbell, if somebody rings or drops off a package, she knows who did it. She's got more options.

    Also, a lot of times, the camera is really slow. I've got three cameras - the swimming pool, the garage door, and the driveway. Sometimes one or the other doesn't pull up and it's always the one I want. They put in a Wi-Fi extender and it helped. But a lot of times, if I'm away from home and I wanna pull up the driveway area or see if I had closed my garage door, it won't pull it up. By the time it pulls up, I'm halfway where I am.

    I've had a very good experience with ADT. They put in the unit and upgraded me. About 10 years after that, they upgraded us. Everything works well. We use the system periodically going in and out of the house and everything seems to be working pretty good with it. My wife handles the app and it seems to move very slowly. ADT moves pretty good with the internet and contacting them or using it. I'm kind of savvy on the app, but my wife is really good on it. So if we're driving out, she can reset it.

    Sometimes the battery or the frequency freaks out a little but I call ADT and they go through the motions and tell me what to do. For some reason, it works and it gets fixed. One time, they had to come out for service and replace a couple of them. But other than that, that was it. So during the whole time, I was very satisfied because they were very prompt.

    I'm on a three-month installment and I like it. I don't get a bill every month. So that helps. My key point of everything is that ADT's rates never go up. So that's very good because you frown when you see things go back and forth and go up and you're wondering what's going on and almost wanna tend to shop around now because things are going up and you wanna get down lower again.

    I hate ADT. The reps are horrible. ADT puts you in a two-year contract, and that was not an issue. I stayed in my contract for over two years at my first location. We were buying another home in a different city, and we had to move to an apartment. So, I got it transferred. They had a lot of issues with the transfer. They told me that I wouldn't be entering into another contract, and that I could cancel at any time. I had to call several times about different issues that I was having with the system. Then, they deleted my old contract and put me on a six-year contract. Nobody ever in their right mind would sign a six-year contract for anything. You don't even know if you're gonna be alive in six years. So, they got me stuck in a contract that I did not know that I was in for six years.

    I brought my equipment with me. It was no issue with me bringing it from my older home to my apartment. But when I moved from my apartment with the same equipment to the home that we had built, the lady who came out was saying, "Oh, I couldn't use that and all of this." So, I knew I had to pay the $12 for the installation of the equipment. She was the one that did this six-year contract and she didn't explain. So, to me, it was a false advertisement and she lied to get me to sign whatever. She explained to me I was signing for the equipment for the installer to come out and install the equipment. I would never recommend ADT to anybody, and they need to be investigated.

    The initial installation was poor. They ran wires on the outside the brick, not in the attic. It's just drill holes in the brick. It's not professional. I also have a camera that hasn't worked since the last time they came out to fix it. I haven't even checked to see how far along I am on the equipment pay out. But if it is paid or soon will be paid out, then I'll be moving.

    I went with ADT for the cost. But the prices keep changing and it's expensive. The only way I could get a reduction is if I called and complained then they'd offer me a reduced rate. When I switched from one house to another, I was told I was gonna get a really good price but I didn't. When I switched to another place of residence, they said, "You've been a customer for seven years so we could give you a good price." But I've been a customer a lot longer than seven years. I don't know where that seven years came from. That was a little disappointing that they didn't even know how long I've been a customer. When I tried to cancel, it was difficult. I had to call exactly 30 days before my contract was up which is ridiculous. Because of the difficulty of canceling the service, I will not renew ADT at my new place.

    ADT had a really good reputation. I had a bad experience with my previous provider. I called ADT and I had them come out and take over the contract on the monitoring system for our house. Recently, this week, on Tuesday, they came and installed some wireless fire detectors. I added that to my service as well. It was absolutely seamless. They said I could do it myself, but I didn't know how to do it. The guy they sent was 6 foot 4. He didn't even need a ladder. He could just reach and put the units in the ceiling. He was great and tested all the units before he installed them. He was here for more than an hour.

    The connections are up and running 'cause he tested them. I've had many interactions with the ADT's service people because once a month, I'll set off the alarm or my wife will set off the alarm. They always call to make sure. Then they send me a follow-up text or email that says, "Your system was disarmed in time. No police were called." They're very efficient and good.

    We've been using ADT for over 40 years. My parents were the ones who got it themselves because they knew they were a reputable and large company. A couple times the alarm has gone off and ADT reached out to us to see if it was a false alarm or a real issue. They normally contact us by phone and if there's no one at home, then we have a couple other emergency contacts that they call. A couple times that the alarm went off were accidents. One time, there was actually someone trying to break in the house. My parents were out of town. I guess someone was watching the house. They realized that no one was home, and they tried to break in and set off motion detectors. So, ADT tried calling the house and no one answered. They tried calling some of the backup numbers.

    They wanted to know if they should call the police and we said yes. And then someone came over, and police came. I actually came over to meet the police and we saw where they tried to break in. They got a window open and there's a screen inside the window. They knocked over the screen and knocked over a lamp and it set off the motion detectors. ADT is reliable and it's usually a good product. They've always been able to resolve issues whenever the issues have arisen or a question would come up.

    ADT's customer service is excellent. My wife was cleaning the window, and she knocked the cap off of it. They came out and fixed it right away. I didn't have to wait, and it was a major window on a lower level. There could be more features in my package but I'm satisfied with what I have. If I need to get a medical alert device around my neck, I would have to go to another company. That's something that ADT doesn't offer. Other than that, I'm good with them. They could be charging a lot less though.

    Another thing is, in the event that I want to change my contact individuals on the program that I get from ADT, that makes it a little complicated. ADT should do a better job of giving a format for that. I attempted to do it and it got too complicated for me to even think about completing. I have not yet put on anybody additional for it, and I need to. However, I haven't had a break-in or any problems in 40 years, so I didn't worry about it too much.

    I purchased with ADT initially because they were in my neighborhood and I liked what they were offering at the time. But later on, I didn't like how billing was done. I was told one thing then I constantly had to call back and tell them that my contract says it's going to be for this amount, but I'm being charged this amount. They charged me my contract price for the succeeding months, but whatever money that I was charged that was more than what I was supposed to be charged, they never fixed it. They also reduced the charge moving forward it but even with the reduction, it's still not panning out for what it was. So once my contract is up, I'm going to go with a different company. If I'm locked into a three-year contract, why is that amount changing?

    The security part has been great though and I haven't had any issues as far as the system. If the alarm trips, I get the call. I love that kind of buffer zone, especially when I was traveling and my family was there. I only gave my mom the access and my brother had tripped the alarm, but being away, I could still go in the app and address that before the police were called and it became a bigger fiasco. I really appreciate that and I love that about the technology with the system. Plus, the alarm is very ear piercing when it goes off. I’m also pretty satisfied with the things that are included in my service package.

    I was misled about my contract and it's been an overall very negative experience. I had an issue with our garage door opener that was programmed for the system, and when I called tech support, they had me to do something manually with my garage door. It didn't work, and it messed up even more. ADT had a tech come out and the tech said that the people over the phone were not supposed to ask me to do that. I was misdirected by their customer service team, and the tech could not fix it because they were not allowed to do anything with it. I ended up having to fix it myself.

    The initial cost is expensive and so is the monthly cost. ADT had an ad that you could put in this and that for less amount of dollars. It sounded good, but it didn't turn out to be x amount of dollars. It ended up being more than twice it. I upgraded it right away because it didn't even cover much. I had a bunch of extra windows and door sensors. But ADT is very good at what they do. When the alarm would go off, I get a call from them quickly.

    I haven't received any customer service from ADT. When I had an issue with the system, they couldn't help me. I had to do everything myself. They told me what I needed to do and that was that. They couldn't get a technician to come out and do anything. It was a matter of buying batteries to put in the security systems in my windows. I had to order them and it took a while to open up the little casings. I had to run back and forth because the alarm would go off, but I managed to get it done. I was very upset about that because I wasn't told that I was going to have to replace the batteries myself and that I would have to put them in myself as well. Also, I didn't know that I was going to have to keep ADT for five years. I'm stuck with them for five years.

    I use ADT as a security thing when I'm gone. However, sometimes I don't know whether it's working as well as it could be. Today, I had some construction people in the house. They cleared the smoke detector and set the fire alarm off, but nobody called to verify. A lot of times, I leave the residence, and there's nobody here. That's not very heartening that they truly aren't monitoring it.

    Their customer service has not been very helpful. It's almost self-serve. Other than when it was first put in, I've never been able to get anybody out here. I pay for their doorbell and camera and they went offline. They turned it into a self-help for me where I needed to order the battery online, do it myself, charge it then reconnect the camera myself. Nobody helped at all. When I did a service call on the doorbell, they sent me a link to YouTube. My daughter was staying here for a while, and she had the same issue going on with the keypad where the batteries had died out. ADT was of no help at all. My sister-in-law ordered a battery for the keypad and changed it herself too. I'm not satisfied with ADT. I pay a lot of money but I don't know what I'm getting out of it.

I've had a couple of things where I've had to call about stuff and the response was quick. The service package is mediocre though. I get these things about new clients all the time. They get free installation and great deals. I get a senior citizen discount, but I would like to be able to upgrade it but I can't afford a whole lot. One time I called and asked about updating, and a guy came out and they were gonna have to do whatever.     I love ADT. When I originally bought my home, I wanted protection and I wanted one that was real. Charles, a pastor at Empowerment Temple, has that system there as well and he referred me, and I've loved it since I've had it. It doesn't go all off in crazy zone, and it's very good for a person like me who's getting up there in age. I'm 62, and I don't have any problems with it at all. For an older person, the system is not complicated. However, my most favorite thing is the customer service. Every time I spoke to anyone at ADT, it has always been pleasant and polite. I'm a survivor and a couple of months ago, I had medicines, doctor visits, and scans going crazy. I could not even do my bill. I called up ADT and let the representative know what was going on.

    In my situation, I'm sure there are plenty of other people that could've went through all of that that I had at that time, and the woman just said, "Well, what did you want to do?" I told her what I wanted to do, which was to be was taken off, and she said, "All right. Let's start here." ADT gave me an adjustment. They didn't have to do it and they did it just because of what was going on. That was one time. Not only that, the representatives have been very nice the entire time I had them, and this is now going on my fourth year. When I needed it to stay on and I was having issues because of my being a survivor and trying to keep up with everything, they did not harass me, but did what they could to assist me. I have told a family member who's purchasing a home soon to get ADT.

    ADT is not worth it. When our three-month contract is up, I'll cancel it. The man that installed it was great, but we had a lot of issues with sensor malfunctions and it was difficult to get someone to get out and fix it. My biggest complaint is half the time, I couldn't log in to see the cameras. It doesn't work. The connection is slow. Even the panel is right next to the front doorbell. And if I tried to see who was at my front door, by the time it showed the image, it would be too late. I installed two other cameras on my own that are free that I can monitor on my own. I also have Alexa and we were thinking about just having that do the monitoring. If it hears the alarms, I'd rather just pay that, not be on a contract, and do the work on my own. It’s too expensive.

I would always deal with a company where I could speak to someone when I have a problem or issue. ADT is that company. Also, their rep came to my house and was phenomenal.     So far, our experience with ADT has been fine. For everything that I do have, I'm satisfied with it. I only have the security part. I had to change the batteries here and there. I did get new windows and doors put in, and I called them up. They sent me the kits with the new double-sided tape and everything for free. I thought that was nice. I took them all down myself. And what I did was I took a picture of each window and door where they were located, and so then I put them back in the same locations, as close as possible, and it worked out well. So far, I've been completely happy with ADT.

    ADT's been around long enough for me to be grown to it and I've never heard anything bad about them as far as them doing what they said they’d do. I've never heard anybody say, “Well, ADT didn't do it.” I like their reputation. The ADT reps are the bomb. I might have had one to get on my nerves but other than that, they apologize. All of them have character and they're sweet. I like them all. Customer service is great, but the biggest thing is my safety. I feel secure. When I go to sleep at night, I can sleep hard because I know they have my back. So, when I go to sleep, I go to sleep. I have no worries on my mind.

    When I turn my alarm on, I don't have any problems whatsoever. On top of that, the stuff is right on top of whatever is going on. So, if the alarm was to get triggered and go off, they would call and check on me first and then find out if I was okay. They would check on me first, and then they would call the police. The alarm had been triggered during a storm. We can't do anything about the electricity going off. And because it's a Wi-Fi-type system, when the lights go out, it goes out too. It doesn't go completely out right away. It does give me about four hours before it goes completely out.

    I have good friends who gave me good feedback about ADT. They have protected them well. So, I signed up but after I signed up, I got the worst service I ever had from ADT.     An ADT sales representative came up to our house that we just moved in, and they offered us a move-in deal. They were walking around the neighborhood talking to us because we were standing outside and said, "Hey, we could give you a free installation, free equipment." It was a good offer. And because my mother-in-law is living with us, we were concerned about her having something in case we were away to be able to contact emergency services. So, that's what helped us make the decision to do that.

    Our system seems to be working okay. It's not hard to use. I've set it off a couple times by accident, and they've been good on the phone about talking with us. The first time was while the guy was here showing us how to use it, and I pushed the wrong button. I accidentally hit the one that's like to call medical services. So my fingers brushed it. So then it went off and I couldn't get out of it, but then they called and asked if we needed help. So, that was good.

    And then the second time was, I forgot the system was armed and I opened the window because I wanted some fresh air. I fell down trying to get to the system because the alarm was going off. It's only 4:00 in the morning. So I don't wanna wake the neighbors at dawn, let alone, the rest of the house. Our system has the little fob that if we're gone, mom could have that. And if she were to fall or something, she can push that to get help. ADT is a good backup to 911. There's a quicker response, and they're friendly and they call.

    I had to call ADT and get instructions about battery replacements and different messages that I see on the pad. There was one time that I called and either the girl that I was talking with was new or she just wasn't familiar with the system because I could tell that she didn't know much more than I did.     I had an alarm on my house, and I was out of the state and it was an awful experience. ADT tried to get ahold of me but I was in the shower and I couldn't answer. I called them back. They couldn't figure out what was going on. They kept transferring me from one person to the next person. Finally, I got ahold of someone who said, "Well, the police have been sent out to your house. Do you want them to?" I was like, "Well, I assume so. The alarm's going off and I'm not there to confirm anything." They said, "Well, we're gonna have to switch you to a different department." I was switched to a different department that didn't know what was going on.

    I got switched to another department which, thankfully, was wonderful. They reached out to the police and found out what was going on. They gave the police the right information for me to get ahold of me. It just was an awful experience up to that point because nobody knew what was going on. It was half an hour before I could even shut off the alarm. Other than that, the system is good. I would like more but I haven't had the ability to call and ask them how much they would charge me to do cameras. What I have is good. The batteries on exterior doors will go bad more often than I would think they should, but we're also in a cold area and I know that's hard on batteries.

    Bad experience, I had my wife transfer our ADT system to our new address, the technician (Emily **) conned my wife into two smoke alarms and three alarm fobs, saying we had a credit of $500.00 but failed to mention that it’s $1000.00. All said and done for contract of three years, now stuck in contract on top of what I already am paying, also forged my wife’s name, very upset with ADT.     ADT's salesperson was pretty good. He was kind and very explanatory about the product. The installers were fine too and it took them about 45 minutes to finish. During the storm that happened this year in July, the cameras went out and the alarm kept going off. I called them and it took them three weeks to get here. When they got here, they said they couldn't fix my camera and that I needed to pay to have it fixed, which I wasn't told in the beginning. Right now, the camera is still out and they said they have to schedule another appointment for them to come out and fix it.

    I had ADT at my former residence and I was satisfied with the service. I got it again in my new residence, and the salesperson was professional, focused on being helpful, and efficient. So far, I have never called ADT because of a customer issue. I know that other security companies are now offering more free services than ADT. One of the things one of my neighbors got was a free Ring door camera with their continued service.     This company was fine upfront, but when we moved, the issues and the true behavior of ADT policies became apparent. They lied from the start by not clearly stating there was a contract so we did not know this until we tried to cancel service. Then we were told that if the new homeowner bought a plan, they could void the contract. That is poor reasoning. Now they are not helping to resolve this problem. I was on the phone for 1-1/2 hours again tonight, trying to cancel the old account and activate a new one. I received a confirmation # saying it will take 48 hours. The account was supposed to be closed weeks ago, but never was. I have 0 faith that this time will be any different. All the people I have spoken to over the last 4 weeks have only put me on hold or passed me off to another dept, saying that the other dept is not doing their job. I am so angry and fed up.

    If I could give them a ZERO. BEWARE of contract, if you move and do not take your equipment with you, they still bill you and you are locked into a 3-year contract and if you don't pay, they will send you to collection. This should be a crime! My equipment worked for a few weeks then the Ring doorbell quit and so did the doorbell. When I called for service, I was told I would have to pay out of pocket. Still doesn't work after 2 years and I am still paying per month. If I cancel, I have to pay the full balance to fulfill the 3-year contract. When I asked for a copy of the contract to show where I signed a 3 year contract and today have still not received!!

    I've been with ADT for almost 30 years. I was with them when they were Protection 1. I don't have any issues with them, and that's why I've been with them as long as I have. The equipment is easy to use. I have a camera. I have the panel in the house. It's mobile. I can move it around to different rooms if I want to. I've had the equipment that I currently have for three years. I moved to a new home three years ago. I had my prior equipment for 25 years. Within those 25 years, they came out three times to test it and made sure everything was okay.

    The only thing is close to the end of my old home, they came out to test it and they said it was no longer connected. I don't know how it could have gotten disconnected because I set my alarm every day and I would have to come in the home to key in my code every day. There should have been a signal to tell me there was something wrong with the system. I'm paying for it. I never fully understood what had happened, but I was in the process of selling my old home and buying a new home and it was no problem.

    ADT is great. People should get it and have a system in their homes. I just renewed my policy in April. When the first person called, I did not answer any questions. I hung up and called ADT myself and the young lady talked to me and explained to me that it was renewal time. My three years was coming up, and they offered me a good price to stick with them. My renewal was in June, and they called me in April. I'm gonna continue with ADT. I'm not gonna have another company come into my home, taking out what's already here and drilling. I'm gonna stick with what I know that works for me.

    ADT's pricing is good. I use both the app and their website. I like the app because I just pull up my iPad or my phone and I can log in and check the videos. I delete videos that are not any concerns, which I haven't had any issues with. I live in a HOA and people are not allowed to let their animals just roam around. Every now and then, there may be a cat. And in this particular HOA, cats are not allowed to roam around in other people's yards. Other than that, the equipment that I have works fine for me.

    My daughter and I moved to this house here in Kansas. A guy from Safe Haven came and I told him that I had ADT at my other house. I also told him what I had there and he said that they would put it here. I told him they kept adding things and it's gotten too expensive. He said it would be $45 a month with no additional charge, and that he would just transfer over from my old account.

    But all of a sudden, $800 was taken out of my account. I contacted them and they said that was to pay off my old contract. I told them the regional guy was the one who told me that it was being transferred over and there would be no charge. They told me they would refund me and I asked if they would put that in writing. I have two emails saying that the refund was on its way and it would take 0 days. After a month, I called ADT and Safe Haven. They said the guy made a mistake and I never got my money. After all these years that I've had them, nobody's ever calling me back. I'm dissatisfied. But the system works fine. I'm 85 and my daughter is 63. The signs and the alarm system make us feel safer being by ourselves.

    Anytime I have problem, I call ADT and the reps are nice. They know what they're doing and are knowledgeable. I'm satisfied with them. If anybody crosses my house, I can see them on my camera, and that's the best thing. I had that one in my business place also. It's convenient. You can see who's coming close to your home. But I'm trying to delete everything in one of my cameras. It says full. I also don't like that you have to have your own battery. They don't replace the battery. If anything goes wrong with the garage door or the sensor, they charge you for it. ADT makes enough money and doesn't need to charge me again. I've had them for 40 years. They should give me something free but they keep charging me.

    There was a guy who when we first moved in here would go around the neighborhood offering the services of ADT. We set up and schedule, met in a fast food nearby. At that time, they were the first one who came to us to offer that service. We wanted to have some security. So, we met with him and we took the offer. If I opened the door, the system made a sound. And if I forgot to disarm it, it would ring. And they would inform people who are in my list that the alarm went off. And I would get a call from ADT. It works. We're happy with it.

    ADT's reps are very helpful and knowledgeable. We had a power outage. When that happens, even the ADT system would be out. The power came back but the ADT system was still off. So, I had to call ADT to help me reset it. Many other appliances were off, too. The rep walked me through how to set up the alarm again, the date and time. Because they all got wiped out if we turned it off. Even though they started, the time and date and some of the settings would be different. She walked me through. That was helpful. She helped us with our microwave's digital clock too, as best as she could on what to do.

    An ADT serviceman had to come out and put the outside doorbell on and that went well. They had to reach in the box in the house here. When I got a different internet company, we had to redo everything. The guy for the doorbell talked me through how we had to reset it because it wasn't working. He did a very good job with doing that. It's easy to contact ADT, especially when I get these false alarms because I lose my electricity. I feel safe now.     I'm not technical and I don't understand how to use the keypad or anything else. All I ever do with the ADT system is set it at nighttime and sometimes, the people here forget to turn it off. Then, they'll open a door and they'll go off and wake everybody up. I'm sorry I got it. I told myself I would never get one of those things because I've worked in homes that have them and they're a pain in the rear end. The only reason the salesman sold it to me was because I wanted a camera and he said they could put a camera out there. So he hooked it onto a camera and the camera doesn't look good at all. So I’m not very happy with the whole thing. I didn't get any instruction and it didn’t come with a book. The rep explained it but it went so fast, I can't remember anything. I'm 78 years old.

    My father had ADT in Buffalo and when he passed, I could transfer it to Albany. We have a mall right nearby us and, on occasion, there are store thefts. Kids will do what they do, unfortunately. There's a cemetery behind us, and they run from the Mall through the cemetery and sometimes jump the fence and end up in our backyard. We've had the police here in our backyard a few times catching people. We used to take care of my mother in-law-until she passed, and she was 95. It made her and us feel more secure to know that we have ADT. ADT made my father feel secure for years. So, I said, "Hey, if it's good enough for mom and dad, I might as well get it here too." So, we really enjoy it. We feel safe.

    Getting ahold of the ADT representatives is easy. The only problem I've had with ADT is our battery had expired, and they don't provide batteries anymore. I couldn't even buy it from them. They said, "Well, go to Walmart or go to Home Depot. They sell them." Neither one sells them. I went to both and both of them said, "We don't sell their batteries." So, I called ADT again and they said, "Sure, they do." I said, "No, they don't. At least not here in Albany." I had to go to Amazon, which is fortunate, and they had it.

    Other than that, they've been very good about coming over. We had the alarm go off a couple of times. Once, a bird hit the front window and triggered the alarm. We weren't home and it triggered the alarm, and the police came over, and we were like, "No, no, no, it was a bird. Here's his wing marks in our window." The other time, I don't know why it went off but it did when we were on vacation in Alaska and our neighbor was watching our house, and they suddenly got an alert that our alarm was going off. Our alarm went off for them in broad daylight. So, we think it might have been another bird because of the big picture window and we have sewage behind us and things happen. So, the police came and they checked around. They looked at all the systems and they said, "No, everything's fine," and it was.

    We've never had a problem with ADT other than the battery issue. They have been here. They're great. The system seems to work well. It takes care of everything. We have all our windows including the basement ones wired. We also have Ring doorbells because you can't be too careful these days, and we stand by it. It's secure. We feel safe. Knowing the police station is not too far from here helps, too. We stand by everything that ADT does for us.

    Way back when we first started with ADT, we liked their price. But when we've called online and got somebody from a foreign country, we've never been satisfied with the results. They don't understand what we're saying. So, we stopped using ADT. Then we came back to it and the people that installed the system locally were wonderful. But then we had some kind of problem with billing. I called that 800 number and the rep didn't know what they were doing. I got an actual person but they couldn't understand English. So, it was very difficult. Also, we don't leave the alarms on all the time and if we have an alarm to go off, I'm not sure we would get any service because we've never had an alarm go off.

    My alarm is still blinking orange. I have a panel, but it doesn't work. I have a sliding door and there's the little white thing that connects to the other thing that makes it all tight and then the light goes off, but the little orange light never goes off. On the left-hand side, there's an orange, and then on the other side, there's a green.

    I have two more years on it and one more year on it to pay for the cameras because the other part, I'm not going to be using. I try to cancel and I have had so many problems with ADT coming out and would tell me sometimes, "Oh, no, you're gonna pay for it." I said, "Then don't come out." Then they'd say, "Oh, we'll pay for it. Don't worry." But when they came out and they pressed a button and they left, they didn't fix the problem. The reps are very nice people. They're always well-mannered. I have no problem with them. I just have a problem with the ADT system.

    I have four cameras. I lost one of the cameras, and I called the ADT customer service line. They walk you through almost everything it could possibly be before they send somebody out. Even when they send somebody out, they get it to back up and then help you realign your cameras because sometimes you lose the area that you wanna look at when the camera goes down. I've had a very good experience with ADT. It's not hard to get in contact with someone. I usually call early in the morning, and they will give you a call back if they're not right there. Within half an hour or 40 minutes, I usually get a call back.

    I like that I can look at all four corners of the property. I can talk to the people if somebody is there and I'm not here. I can talk to them through the camera. I also like when they give me an alert, whenever there's something crosses my camera viewpoint. I have a pool in the backyard, and even if it's a little animal, I see that it is an animal and not some child or something trying to get in. When you want to know what's going on outside your property without going out there, ADT is the best thing for me and I would recommend it for them, particularly in the winter or if it's raining, you can see everything.

    ADT did wonderful for years. I had no complaints. But this time when I needed them to act right, they didn't. I needed to replace my battery and I was going out of town in a very short period of time. I spoke to someone and we made arrangements to have the battery delivered within two days. I was leaving on the third day. We did what we needed to do. ADT let me know the battery was on its way. I'll get it in two days. I asked for overnight. He said, "No, we can't do that, but two days." So the time came for me to leave and the battery had not yet arrived. But the rep did what he needed to do. He talked, explained everything, what would happen, and that was good. It just didn't happen. So, I just left my home unprotected and it was a horrible feeling. But I got back, nothing had happened. But it didn't have to be that way. It could've been a horrible thing.

    The system did what it needed to do. It worked well. It was easy enough to operate. I called twice when I couldn't figure something out. But it was easy. I'm just not a techie person. And as I expected to do something, I expected to do it quick. And it happens. When it's up and going, fine. When my battery didn't come, I told them, "Forget it. Don't send it." Because, of course, I was paying extra for it. Not just for the battery, but for the overnight or for the two days. So I sent him a quick email, "I'm already out of the country. Never mind. I feel very unsecure, but I am not paying for this battery and I'm certainly not paying for overnight."

    I advised them if the battery is sitting on my porch when I get home, I would send it back and still would not pay. It was not on my porch when I got home. ADT is not good with their follow-up. In that five-year period, ADT never called to upgrade. They never called to see, "Is it still working for you?" There are some competition out there now. ADT was the company for so long, but now there are many other options, even the home smart systems and Vivint.

    The system works fine. When I've had trouble, when a zone was down, I went to a store and got batteries. Batteries could be different ages. So, I get my batteries through ADT. That has been easy. I needed a new sign, so I got a new sign. That was mailed to me. I got that, which was great. But my wife who set up my system here at the house, the account, so that I didn't have to see any of this stuff, no longer is at this residence. So, for security purposes, I wanted to change my password. But the passwords on the sheet of passwords did not match what ADT all had on their system. I did not have the telephone verbal passcode, yet the property is in my name and it's my credit card that paid for the annual rate. So, I wasn't getting anywhere. And there is no security question to be asked at all other than having that passcode.

    It took me three weeks to be able to get the verbal password. It had to be mailed to me. But ADT was most unaccommodating in my obtaining that information. I live in Boca Raton. I said, “Let me just go to the headquarters.” So, I took my driver's license, federal ID, phone bills, et cetera. I had my credit card. And the receptionist downstairs was a dull. The person that I talked to on the phone said they couldn't do anything for me. And I was appalled because it's an emergency security system. So, I was out without any security other than knowing my password at home, which ADT could see that if there was something wrong, that I could clear the passcode on the pad, but would not give me any other information. I was furious, politely so.cSo, I left and came home.

    Eventually, the person said to contact them as soon as I got the password. I got the verbal passcode a week and a half later and called them. I had to leave a voicemail, did not receive an out of office, didn't receive anything. I left a voicemail. And I was still in disbelief that this was going on. Finally, password. I followed all the prompts that this person told me to do. Sure enough, I decided to override him. My life is more valuable than any voicemail or any inadequate system. I had the verbal password. And they were able to access my system. They said, “Great. Would you be interested in the virtual communication tomorrow, appointment?” “Absolutely.” It was between 8:30 and 9:30. So, I waited and waited. At 9:25, I was getting ready to go to class, because I pay for art classes.

    I got a call. It was a very nice female attendant. I said, “I was on my way out the door right now. You're lucky you caught me.” I said, “I was expecting a call that you would notify me that you're arriving. I never got a call.” She said, “Yes. We did get a call.” I said, “What number was called?” And it happened to have been the phone number of the girl that no longer lives here. I said, “You called Suzanne.” And they verified the phone number. I said, “As of yesterday, when this appointment was made, she was to be completely taken off the contact list. She no longer lives here. And that is exactly why I am changing all the codes.” The girl apologized. I said, “I'm in shock. I'm in disbelief.” She got Suzanne's name off the contact list, got my security codes all squared away. She did a marvelous job.

    It wasn't till a couple of weeks later that I got a call from ADT asking me about the survey. I said, “By now, I'm pissed. I am furious at you guys. I paid for the service upfront. That means you have actual working capital. And what I went through was horrific and certainly is not exemplary of customer service, especially for a homeowner, when I had passport, I had bills, I had everything that I needed to prove to you who I was. And I got stonewalled because someone would not come downstairs to look at this information so I’d I get it squared away.”

    It happened to be the guy who gave them the information. He said, “You can call me.” I said, “What is your name? Ah, so you're the person who called me.” He said, “Yes.” I said, “You guys gotta come up with a better system for people who are in dire need to get their security information squared away.” He said, “We can give you a price break.” I said, “I went through anguish for three weeks, and you didn't do your job by taking Suzanne's phone number off. So, I don't know what to say.” So, he gave me $50 off the bill. I said, “That is ridiculous. My life was online. And that doesn't cure anything.” So, he gave me a $300 discount. And I stuck with my story.

    When I was working on my house, there was a lot of concrete dust from the floor and it went up into the fire alarm. I could hear the alarm going off. So, I let ADT call me. I said, “It's me. It's Jennings. I'm the owner of the house.” And they asked me for all this information. I said, “I'm here doing concrete work, and the dust got up into the vent.”

    I jogged my memory and came up with the verbal password. What they said was, “We can see that you cleared the alarm by entering the code in the system.” I said, “Yes. That's how I get it. I don't have the verbal thing right now, and I'm a mess. I got concrete all over me. Dust.” So, they said, “Okay. We'll note the system that you're working on the concrete today.” I said, “I hope it doesn't go off.” Sure enough, it went off again. And they said, “We'll notify the fire department so they don't come there.” I said, “Great.” There was a note supposed to be put in the system the day that there would be no emergency. And I would call ADT when I was finished with the concrete work.

    The firemen came by the corner. I know them. I waved them. “Come on around.” They came around the corner. They looked at me, and I was covered with dust, said, “You're doing drywall?” I said, “Concrete grinding work on the slab.” He said, “Okay. Just cover the vent for right now while you're working. And when you're through working, uncover the vent.” I said, “AD&T was supposed to notify you so you wouldn't come here. I just talked to them minutes ago.” So, there was a failure of communication there. I'm glad that they came because that let me know that someone was doing something, but I understand. Emergency is emergency. But after you initiate things, you can cancel them. So, the fire department was not canceled.

    Our ADT system works. The only person that's ever set it off is me, though. The police showed up. It wasn't too long after we got the system, my wife and I came home from a movie and we decided we were gonna have a light snack. So, I started whipping out some stir fry in a wok, and the next thing I know there was a guy looking through the window with the flashlight and he had a gun and a badge. I went to the door and said, "Yeah. Well, it went off and I turned the alarm off." They wanted to talk to my wife, too, to make sure I wasn't holding her hostage.

    We have an older system, but it's worked really well. I added some extra key fobs just recently. I also just replaced batteries and some of the sensors that were hard to get to.     I'm very unhappy with ADT. The installer was very friendly and nice, but he recognized that there was nothing he could do because ADT's policy is to charge a customer for everything they want to fix. My system is getting archaic, and some of the equipment have been damaged because of their age, and without those equipment, I cannot have ADT. The company wants me to pay between $1,200 and $1,800 for upgrading my system, even though I've spent 25 years with them and this is their equipment.

    It is very disappointing. They had good service, but everything is changing and the reality is, if this is the way the company is acting, I'm seriously considering looking for somebody else who knows how to treat their customers, particularly the ones who’ve been with them for 25 years and have been loyal. ADT has zero respect for loyalty. If ADT is joining the large number of companies who don't care for customers, I wanna make sure that I'll look for one that will care.

    I've had ADT for at least 10 years. I saw some signs on my friends' yards, then I contacted them and asked how they were satisfied and they seemed to be. So, I called ADT, and they're excellent. They've always been very nice people, and their customer service has always been good. Every time I've had an alarm event, they have always been Johnny-on-the-spot. They've been quick to call, and they do what they're supposed to. They'll call my local police as well as the person I gave as a person of contact if they can't get me.

    In 2016, our home burnt to the ground. I was in another town and ADT contacted me to say there was a hot spot in our house, that fire trucks had been called. I came right back and by the time I got here, the smoke was pouring out of the eaves and the fire trucks came, but we lost the home. Still, the system is very good. I don't have some of the newest technology, but it does what it's supposed to do in that, when I leave, if someone tries to break in, it'll be triggered. They'll be called, and the police will be called. I feel secure with what I have, and I would tell people to get ADT. I've always recommended them. I have an ADT sign in my front yard as well.

    We've been with ADT since 1991. We have a recurring problem. In October, we had an issue. In, May and June, we had the same issue and it is always the same thing. It's always a Band-Aid fixing this battery. It's a very frustrating thing because a battery should last longer than nine months. Every time we have an issue, it's us trying to fix it. And it's a battle. The last time I had an issue, after three days, we finally got it working. I told them, “I'm going out of town. I really want to make sure this is working.     Dealing directly with ADT has not been very pleasant. I'd be transferred five to eight times before I get to somebody who can address my issue or they'd say that it's addressed but then it's not and I'd be calling again. I have multiple documentation of me spending hours on the phone with ADT. This last time I had an issue was about transferring a system that I ended up getting for one of my investment properties. We were transferring it to Florida for another property. I was gonna just cancel it originally but they said I don't have to cancel and I can just transfer it but it went downhill from there.

    The gentleman that I initially spoke to about the transfer said it wasn't gonna cost anything. He said I'd get a free upgrade because I was transferring and because I've been with them for a certain amount of time. We transferred the system and it turned into a completely different ballgame. There was pricing involved and all of the stuff that he said came along with it did not come along with it. On top of that, ADT wanted to charge me a cancellation fee when I was transferring. It was frustrating.

    The other difficulty was I had a two-hour conversation on the phone and I was asking questions and the person wasn't understanding what I was saying. And in the background, I could hear somebody was coaching them. I asked if I could speak to a supervisor and they turned into, “No, I can't let you talk to them.” That was very frustrating. I spent multiple days calling back and at the end of the day, I didn't end up with a cancellation fee because they paid and stepped in. Other than those, the system itself is fine. If the power goes out or something, the system will even alert me that there is a power outage.

    The person that came in and installed everything was very nice and helpful. When we asked questions, he did his best to answer them. And anything that we didn't get answered was because we didn't think of it until later. We have never had anything like this before. But anything the man didn't tell us that we forgot to ask, we called at another time and asked. And the people that called us, if we had a red thing that we forgot about, were always nice.

    We have to come in and out of the house often during the day because we got dogs that have to go out. Our only problem is occasionally, we would forget that red light is on.     The first person was nice. He walked to our house, and told us about the business. But I don't like that ADT forcefully makes people get stuff that they don't want. We felt that we were scammed. They made us get something that we did not want and forcefully pay for something that we still don't want. It's an okay program for us now. The reps were very kind, respectful, and friendly people, but they gave us false information into the fact of what we were getting into. They abused our trust. They took advantage of our ignorance.

    When the sale representative first came, he sold us a packet that was supposed to be paid for by our mortgage company. We agreed to get that with a monthly payment for the items that came with that packet. But the service fee is 63.99 a month. And they would charge us nothing else. When the tech came, he came on to install the equipment, which would have been the following week. They're obligated to offer their upgrades to the customers. He offered them, but I immediately told him that I couldn't afford it, that I wanted to get what was being sold to us by our mortgage company and with the sales representative that sold us the equipment.

    Even though he was a very nice person, he ignored what I told him. He said, “Let me just show you another way that you can pay for it.” I looked at him and was, “Okay.” I thought that he would just show me. He showed me through my phone. He made me get on this link that I didn't know that I applied for a credit card to pay for the upgrade and the equipment. And when I looked at it, I was, “What is this?” He said, “Read through it.” I read through it, but I also got confused at the same time. But I have ADD, so I can't focus a lot on a big category of reading and having to give an answer at the same time because I get very confused in between what I read.

    I told him, “I can't really read all this right now. It's starting to give me a headache. And I can't focus on it.” He said, “It's okay. Just finish. Just skip through everything and just sign at the bottom.” I didn't know that what I was about to sign was a credit card agreement along with the contract making me get the upgrade and not letting me know that I had three days to revoke the contract if my husband and I were to become in disagreement with the upgrade or we simply changed our mind. They didn't explain anything. And after my husband got home, I told him what happened. He said, “Did you sign anything?” I said, “Yes. I signed this thing on the phone along with the paper saying that we have to pay an additional 1,500 for the upgrade.” And he said, “Wait. What upgrade?” I said, “I thought you knew.” He tried to make memory of the upgrades. I also did.

    The sales representative that came spoke about some upgrades. But when he came, I didn't feel well. So, I didn't remember that he said something about the upgrades, but my husband did. The installation technician didn't say anything. I explained to him that we couldn't afford another bill besides the one that we already got into. He ignored me, proceeded to tell me that I could pay a different form of way without explaining to me that I got into a credit card and into a contract.

    When I finally realized that what I had signed was a credit card, I asked him about it, but he didn't say anything. He just stood quiet. All he said was, “This helps you pay for it.” I said, “This looks like it's a credit card to me now that I'm looking at it.” He said, “It just helps you pay for it faster. So, the equipment will actually just become yours. You'll be an official new owner.” I said, “Why isn't this process sitting right in my head?” I became more confused.

    My husband proceeded to call the sales representative that got us to get the whole installation. He didn't tell us anything but that he would contact his manager and his manager would let us know what we should do. We waited for the manager to call us. He didn't call us until a day after. He called my husband, gave my husband another option, told him we should keep the upgrade and that they would cut our payment in half, but they would give us another day to think about it if that was what we needed.

    We needed an alarm system because we just got a new build. We live in an area where there is nothing but fields around us. And according to the neighbors, there have already been some break-ins. We didn't want to end up like that. We don't have much, but what we have is important. We thought about it. We called the next day. I told the rep, “We really can't afford another extra bill, not with me not working and not with our son.” One of our oldest sons isn't working still because it's hard to get a job here in Casa Grande. I said, “We can't afford it. And we have to cover his finances right now until he finds another job.” My husband said, “You're right. We're just gonna throw ourselves another payment.”

    I said, “Yes." And we would call the rep and tell him that we will still keep it and only pay 63.99 a month.” It's not that we would completely take them off and not pay the other additional 58.99 a month. He said, “Okay. You know what? Let's just do that then.” We called back the sales representative. We told him, “We don't want the upgrades. We just would like for you guys to come and pick them up and cancel the credit card that we got into. That way, we don't have that extra payment because we also have other payments that we need to make, we have to cover.” And we explained the situation that we were in with him. He said, “Oh, definitely. I can call my manager. I'll explain to him. And then we'll just drop it.” We said, “Okay.” We left it like that.

    I called customer service, let them know what happened and that we didn't want the upgrade. Their response was, “Unfortunately, we can't do anything about it.” I said, “I'm not asking to completely cancel the whole system, the whole thing out. I just don't want the upgrade. I just want to be able to have the one payment versus two.” She said, “Unfortunately, there's nothing that I can do right now because you're on the fourth day trial period that you passed your contract.” I said, “Wait a second. What contract? What are you talking about?” “Ma'am, when you signed your paperwork, you entered into a contract.” “I did not know that I entered into a contract.” She said, “If you read your paperwork officially on page three—" and she started saying all this stuff about page three. “You signed a contract. You should have read that you were entering into it.”

    I told her, “Wait a second. I couldn't read it at the moment. I told him that I couldn't read it at the time because all that information was just too much for me at the moment. And your technician just said, ‘Skip the whole thing. Go to the end of everything that you're reading and just sign it.’ So, I did that.” She said, “Ma'am, you should have asked questions. You should have told him.” I said, “I did tell them I can’t afford the upgrades, if there was something else that we could do.” The sales representative failed to tell us that same information about the three days and going into a contract with his company, and the manager as well. So, three people that we spoke to failed to tell us that we were entering into a 36-month period contract with this company with something that we did not want. And we still had a good amount of time to cancel everything if we wanted to, if they just told us within the three days instead of dragging it out.

    I was moving from a second floor living to first floor living and I was feeling nervous about it. I signed up with ADT and I have them for over 20 years. So far, the system performs very well. I had the little things that you stick to the door from the little white box and the person who installed it used a two-sided tape, which was fine. But some 18 years later, it fell off. I was trying to figure out how to position it and get it back on. And being lazy, I left it off for a bit. But that's the only thing that's ever gone wrong with ADT. They talked me through it over the phone.

    They have also come out to switch the box I had because 20 years later, it was outdated. So, they installed a new panel for me. One time, some major battery pack inside that's like a four-pack, aged out and the battery died. I needed to replace it and they sent me a kit in the mail. I'm not really good with that sort of stuff and I didn't quite get the instructions. But I called and asked them to please send somebody. And they did. So it worked out well.

    At another time, some alarm went off and ADT called right away. I jumped out of the shower when the alarm was going off and the phone was ringing. I told them that I was there and I couldn't detect any sort of smoke. I told them to let me run downstairs then I looked around and their rep stayed on the phone with me. Finally, she asked if I was in the shower and I said yes. She explained that if you're alarm is outside the shower, the steam can set the alarm off. And that was exactly what happened.

    I've really appreciated having the ADT system and the security of when we go to bed at night knowing that there will be something to wake me up if anything goes wrong. Also, when leaving the house empty and coming home to an empty house, I don't feel worried that anything has gone wrong unless I've heard from ADT. They're terrific and they are there when I need them. I would recommend them.

    We've had a major upgrade to the system and ADT was extremely responsive. We do have an advantage. We are about six miles from where all the service trucks go in and go out all day. So, geography may be part of the proximity, but we're very satisfied with it. 90% of the time, the people that come to the house know what they're doing, unlike the cable company where you hope they finish the course. Most of the time, if there is something that needs to be replaced, they have the replacement part with them. It's not like, “Well, I've gotta get the part. I'll be back six months from next year, then I’ll finish it.” They don't operate that way.

    The ADT technicians will tell you what to call the sales office for and if there is an upgrade that your system could use. I appreciate that candor and honesty. Or they'll say, “You really don't need to upgrade. This is working fine.” So their technicians are incredibly honest, forthright and knowledgeable, which is very refreshing in this day and age.

    Sometimes, when you call customer service, you can almost hear them turning the pages in the program to respond to you. So, the people on the telephone are not as efficient. The other frustration I have with ADT is they're kind of forcing everybody onto the internet, which is fine, except where I live, I have zero bars on my cell phone because I'm down at the bottom of the hill. If the cable is out, I don't have internet access. But they want everybody to do everything on the internet. That's not realistic.

    About two years ago, we had the world's worst thunderstorm and we could smell the lightning when it hit. ADT called to make sure everything was okay. The person who called stayed on the phone with me. I went around the whole house and then went outside where the lightning strike was to make sure that there wasn't something going on that we were not aware of. This was three o'clock in the morning and they would not hang up until I assured them we were okay. We have secret passwords we use when we talk to them. So if somebody is in here with a knife on our throat, there's a way to let them know in an unobtrusive manner. But the people who process the alarm and get the warning signals on the alarm are very responsive and sensitive to people's needs.

    I had the alarm go off once when I had the system set and my daughter came home through the front door which set the alarm off. I shut the alarm down and waited for the phone call from ADT but it never came. So I called and asked them, "How come you didn't call me when my alarm went off?" The guy that I talked to said, "We wait 60 seconds before we call." I told him, "That means your system is useless because a guy can break into my house and, in 60 seconds, can do a lot of damage. So why do I bother having a monitor system?" But to my knowledge, the system works fine.

    I had trouble with the system once. ADT sent out a technician to do some work on it and he replaced some sensors and put a new battery in one sensor. Everything else is fine.     My experience with ADT is not very good. I've been with them a long time. To try to get through them is impossible and then you get somebody whose first language is not English and that's hard. They send you from department to department. “Oh, no. We don't take care of that." "No. You have to call here." "No. You gotta go there.” It's frustrating.

    Also, the guy who came out to install the water sensors had to put in one more smoke alarm and he also put in a siren, which I didn't need. I got a bill for that siren for a hundred and some dollars. I called up and said I didn't want the siren and it took a good six weeks for them to realize I didn't need it. They came and they took it out finally but they tried to charge me for the truck coming, because then I learned if you call them and they bring a truck, it costs you $60 for the truck. I told them I was not paying that. Then, they couldn't find the receipt where the guy put the alarm back in the system so they kept charging me and finally got that all straightened out. But I still have the alarm system, which I like.

    I experienced a break-in to my home over the summer (luckily no one was home), but I wanted a security system after that. I called ADT and gave them my concerns, how many windows/doors needed to be covered, etc. The ADT rep was very kind, and told me they could sell me equipment and I can set it up on my own. We again confirmed what I needed, and I signed up then because “it was on sale”. I get the equipment and start to set up… and I was only given 4 of the 8 sensors I needed.

    Upon calling to get the others, I was told that I was sent the correct number and I was sold a “bundle” which only included 4 (which is NOT what I was told when I bought it). I had to then purchase an additional 4 sensors, which brought my total cost to 400 dollars instead of the 280 I originally thought I was getting my house covered for. It has now been 9 days after ordering the new equipment, and it still has not even shipped when I called to see where it is. I am almost at my 30 days mark of not being able to return everything, and I don’t even know if it will work well because it’s not here!

    Secondly, the sensors are very sensitive (great, I want that) BUT they do NOT include spacers or ways to make them actually line up on your door if it has a big door frame. I had to again call and order spacers (had to buy also), which were never even offered or mentioned when I was originally buying the setup, even when the rep had said “everyone sets these up themselves at home and has no issue”.

    When I ordered the spacers, the ADT rep told me this is extremely common for people to need them, and once again I should have been informed. I am very frustrated because I can’t use the system even though I’ve had it for several weeks because the sensors will alarm in the middle of the night for no reason, and my entire home isn’t even covered. Every rep has been nice but has zero solution for me, and I just keep spending more money and feel no safer.

    The system is all working good except it says we have no internet and we do. Also one time, they're supposed to give me a color for the front yard camera and I never got that. But we still see the color is nice. My backyard is colored in the film. Besides that, there’s not been any troubles for me. I like the system. I can see somebody out there in the garage and I can scare them away with just talking. We can pick up images anywhere -- be in Arkansas or in New Hampshire, we’d still get a picture of everything. If somebody pulls up the yard, I can see what they want and I see what the kids are doing in the house and stuff like that. If you want to get some good security, ADT is the one to get. They've got everything I've asked for and it works good.

    ADT sent installers out here and they installed everything on all the windows and doors. The system’s features could be better though. Some of the things that were installed came undone and I had to redo them myself. When I talked to the people on the phone, they were normal. They asked if they could send a self-service package or somebody out for extra cash. I asked them to send the self-service one but I usually prefer to have a professional do stuff. It was a little annoying it was gonna cost me a little bit extra to have someone come back and re-attach the alarm system to my windows. That was disappointing. Usually, when there's something gets installed by a professional, you expect it to last.

    There’s nothing that sticks out that makes me wanna tell people to come get an ADT, but it does the job. It’s a little bit pricey but it’s great quality. The app is probably the best and I use it every single day. It's very user-friendly. We use it for turning the system on and off. I'm not too savvy when it comes to it. But it's a bit simple.

    My experience with ADT has been good for the most part. They're understanding when you're going through things. They work with you. The reps know what's up, and I like that. I had a battery that overcharged and caused me to have to replace the battery, but other than that, the system does everything we need it to do. You can either do Alarm Away or Alarm Stay. You have pets in the house and you don't wanna have the Alarm Away because it'll set the alarm off with the animals that are running around the house. They have the Alarm Stay which we do a lot because we have cats.

    There was a guy installing an ADT system next door, and he put a couple of cameras. He was telling me about it and I told him what I have are the same type of cameras which they still sell on Amazon. I got my own cameras all around my house and I have access from my phone. I can go online and view everything. When I want to get a few more signs, I can call ADT and get them. But ADT could have a better package deal where it's not an extra fee to have a doorbell camera because people will get that on their own down the road. But ADT wants to charge too much and a lot of people are on fixed incomes so they can't do all that extra stuff.

    My house camera is not working and we used to be able to set our alarm from the phone when we leave but none of that is working. Also, If I wanna leave, I got to go in the house and set the alarm. Then when I come back, I can't go in my garage because if I do, the alarm will go off and I can't unset it from down there. When we're gone, if the alarm is going off, we would never know it if we're not here.

    Other than those, ADT has been real good that's why I've stayed with them so long for 48 years. If I ever have something needing service, they come right out and do it. Somebody from ADT is supposed to be calling me between 1:30 and 2 o'clock today and they're gonna try to FaceTime me to try to get this system back up. Customer service is good though now, sometimes, they have people that I talk to that don't understand me and I don't understand them.

    Our homeowner's insurance told us that we could get a discount if we work through ADT. I've always had good experience with them. Now that things are a little bit more automated, it's easier to get ahold of somebody and talk with somebody. So far, I've had good luck. Overall, I have satisfaction. My sense of security as far as my home goes is fine.

    We've had ADT for at least 12 years. I originally got it because I have kids, so it made me feel safe. However, I'm not sure what happened, but we moved and transferred our service. My husband and I have about 20 different accounts with his business, and it has been a total nightmare. I went from being one of ADT's number-one supporters to counting down until my contract was up. I have been lied to multiple times. I have been charged when I wasn't supposed to be charged. I was receiving alerts. I had sold my other house when we purchased our new home, and I was getting alerts for three months when every door and window was open. I called in and asked, "Could you please remove that? I'm not sure why I was still receiving those." They said they had taken care of it. It just now got fixed. Within the last two weeks, I have not received an alert.

    One lady raised her voice on the phone and said that I had to change my email. I was like, "Ma'am, that's the only email I have. That's my email for my new house." Getting in contact with a representative has been terrible. I had taken screenshots on my phone while just waiting for someone to talk to me. There was a time that I was on hold for 2 hours and 48 minutes. Finally, I would get transferred to someone and they'd say, "Nope, you're in the wrong area. We gotta transfer you off again." Four hours later, I finally got to talk with someone that I needed to speak with.

    A lot of times, you don't get anyone that speaks English, and the people that speak English have been downright nasty. They get to a point where they're like, "Yeah, no problem. We're gonna take care of this. It's all taken care of." Then I got a thing that stated that they charged my account 900 bucks. It took multiple attempts to reach someone. I even missed my daughter's doctor's appointment because I was on hold going back and forth with this gentleman. He took care of it all right. He put a $900 credit on my ADT. Nobody wants a $900 credit for a utility bill. I've never heard of such a thing. After multiple hours spent on the phone, I was able to get through and they did end up crediting me with that back but I still had to pay interest on that for my card. It has been a nightmare.

    As far as the system that I have in my home, it works well. I went with the basic stuff. I was gonna cancel my account, but I was still paying the contract that I had signed for five years. I still had two years left. So, it is cheaper for me to continue my business there. But as far as the equipment goes, it's easy to work. The online part of it has some glitches, but I like being able to use the app from my phone.

    Within the last six months of having ADT, I don't feel safe with it. It's a good thing that I own guns in my home because that's what I rely on if someone comes and intrudes on the house, especially after I get alerts about my old house. That to me was a big eye-opener. I explained to them that I didn't feel comfortable knowing when a window was open. If someone did rob their house, whose account is linked to that? That would come back on me and I don't feel safe. Being a mom, when my husband's out of town, that's when I want the security the most. When we started our business with ADT years ago, I did feel safe. I felt like it was an amazing feature to have, but now that I live in the country, it has been a nightmare.

    The alarm beeped and ADT came out and fixed the problem, but it took a while. ADT is a little pricey, but the service is not too bad. However, they don't offer any discounts on upgrades. When I moved from the last address to this address, the system I had before was more updated than the one I have now.

    The installation was less detailed than I wanted it to be. They installed stuff sloppily. I only noticed a bit after they did it. That wasn't centered. They left holes in places where they installed it where they shouldn't have been. But that was my only real critique. The quality is good. The system gives peace of mind.

    When I was getting ADT, I didn't know it would be by a contract. That's the only thing I'm not happy with. Because if I lost my job or I couldn't pay out my contract, I would have to pay the whole amount. If I don't want it anymore, I should have the right to cancel it. And it shouldn't be that I'm in a contract. Other than that, I'm okay with it. I'm pleased with my service. I had some problems one time that I thought I could fix on my own. My phone would not get a feedback from my wall where my wall thing is at. I had to call and make an appointment. I paid for ADT to come out. Also, the guy that installed everything was good and knowledgeable. I asked questions and he answered.

    I don't use ADT because it doesn't work right. It would tell me the wrong window is open. ADT just said, "You have to reprogram them all." That's not my job. I don't know how to reprogram them. That's why I pay $63.99 a month for something I don't use. They wouldn’t send someone over and reconfigure my windows to match my panel that tells me, "Living room window is open" or basement windows or whatever is open. They don't care. I asked, "Can I cancel my service?" They said I'm in a contract. And I have to pay until the end of the contract or they would charge me. I should be able to cancel the contract that I have with them being I don't use it. I told them, "I'm paying 63.99 a month." They raised it a couple months ago and I said, "Oh, no. You don't." They went back down to the 63.99. Don't use their service.

    ADT replaced the keypad one time and that went fine. So, the service guy did fine. I've had a couple of times when we've had an alarm go off and never got a call. It has happened a couple of times over the years. I got an old system, so it's wired. It would be nice if they had a wireless system.
