    The process of signing up with ADT was very easy. My mother passed last year, and I wanted to get out of it and I went back to work. I just wanted to keep the carbon monoxide. I signed up for that, too. I did not fully understand how long I have to be in it. They don't make it easy for you to get out. If it was a program where you could sign up, if you need it, you need it. But then when it's time for a senior citizen, I'm still working in the school system, I'm surrounded by family, I didn't need the security system anymore, they tell me, "Well, you can't because you gotta be in the nine months and you gotta pay 900 and some dollars." That needed to be explained further to a person. After my time is up, I am letting them go due to the fact that with the increase of expenditures just to live, I really can't afford it anymore. And even though they have different price levels, food is expensive and also I need to take care of my regular necessities.

    The system here in Louisiana was good. A lot of us has ADT over here on my street and other streets, and once the electricity went off, the backup battery did work, but only for a while, and then you have to call somebody to come out. They have it noted that if something's not right on this side of the tracks and the other side where ADT customers are always losing the power. We were losing our power a lot. Any time we had bad weather, that was it. And then the batteries are so expensive. That's the problem, too.

    I'm computer literate, and I would be able to do the panel well with someone talking to me on the phone but if I'm older and cannot figure stuff out, that feature needs to be changed for senior citizens because it needs to be downgraded or upgraded to something a little bit simpler for them if something goes off. My mom, while I was at work, accidentally went outside, forgot she was outside, had a pot on, and they called me at school to come because smoke was in the house. I was thankful for that, and that was good. I had just left the house like 20 minutes ago and I lived 11 miles from where I worked at. So, I was able to get home.

    I called my momma's sister who lives next door and she came in the house, the house was full of smoke. She was outside doing her exercises and left the pot on. And that's why I kept it because while she was living, I really needed that. That was my safety net. However, if the alarm went off due to an explosion, she could not have handled the technology of hitting the right buttons. Even though you could put it up there and print it and say, "Hit this," it was just too confusing for her. If you're looking for a good security with the signs and the decals, ADT is a very good determent. I left and went on vacation to my brother all the way to Columbus, Ohio, and when I came back, everything is the same.

    ADT was in the house by the previous owners and we wanted to try it. But we're not happy with it. make sure that you are clarified on what you would sign in to. We were told that it would be a two-year, but it was a five-year thing. And since it was the IT guy that came over to install it and that was when we signed the thing, he just passed the little tablet. He said, "You'll just have to sign here." I said, "All right." I should not have trusted.

    The house security one for the doors works. But the camera one, the one we wanted it for it the most, has not been working. I have called ADT several times. I don't know what's going on with the that the camera would not turn on. They said it was WiFi. We bought an extended WiFi for it that is right next to it and it still wouldn't work. It would get fixed for a day or two, but would go back down. We're just waiting for the five years to be over and cancel it.

    When I call to get in contact for ADT to see how they could help me fix it, they would call over phone and schedule an appointment. The people that I have worked with have been very nice assisting me. But every time I cancel, they said that I would have to pay whatever the five years they said and it's over $2,000. I'm not gonna pay $2,000 to cancel my system that has not been working.

    I have no problems with ADT at all. There are doors that we had done and some sensors. Our package is fine. They're easy to use. We've had the alarm go off a few times. Mostly, it was our fault. So, it wasn't anybody breaking in. It is easy to get it cleared up.

    ADT told me that their camera system was the best, which turned out to not be true. You can see the cameras in the daytime, but you can't see anything at night. Also, the monitor is awful. So I don't like the system. I just stayed in the contract because I had to. And I hope my contract is up because I won't be renewing it.

    Some friends of ours had ADT’s service where we previously lived. I did everything over the phone when I got the service and they sent a technician out to install. The initial installation went well. But a remodel of the house took place and they weren't interested in coming back and helping re-attach wiring that had to be disturbed for the cameras. So, I just disarmed the system entirely and I haven't had active service with ADT in over a year now. There's a much better product out there and ADT is behind the curve. They'll be out of business soon.

    The company that we bought our home from had a setup with ADT to offer discounted service. The reps were great. They made the process really easy and answered all of our questions. When the team came out here, they showed us several different options we had for different levels of equipment that we could put in, and also walked us through the different options, the cost, and installation that let us pick which option my husband and I wanted that we felt was best for us. They were able to set everything up that same day before they even left.

    We originally signed up for a basic package and then when they came out here for the first time, they walked through the house and then showed us different options for the extra credit we had, different options of what we could use that for. Then we looked at the different options, picked what we wanted, and they were able to do everything while they were still out here. We took advantage of using the credit to get cameras and we're able to monitor everything that we wanted to whenever we're not home and have the system set up. Whenever we're away, we can still monitor through the cameras that we had added stuff that's going on around the house. We had one issue where the alarm was going off. It was a heat sensor and the sensor malfunctioned, which ultimately ended up in the fire department showing up here. So ADT came back out and replaced it with a brand-new sensor and we have not had any issues since then.

    I have ADT for almost 30 years. I love my system's installation and I never had a problem. Everything has been wonderful with their customer service reps and I'm satisfied with my system. But when I got my recent upgrades after 20 years, the guy who came to my house promised me that everything was going to be the same. But I didn't get the same things. My two windows and my front windows don't have any sensor. Then, I had to get a battery the other day because I didn't get one. So, I'm not going to make a big deal about it, but if you come to my house and say I'm going to get something the same thing or better, it should be. Other than that, I would recommend anybody to ADT.

    ADT is the most popular service around, so I signed up with them. But I don't like the system at all. If there's an alarm coming through, they are not able to tell you as to where is the fault. Then, if you have requested for the police to come over, there is no follow-up after that to ask if the police even came in. So they're more about when they get a message or if the alarm rings, they give you a call, then they may ask the police to come in. That is it. If the system is down, they have no idea about it. My system was down for a while because my battery had drained out and they were not even aware about it. So it's a very poor system. If your system is not working and you're charging the customer for it, you got to tell the customer that something is going bad over there. The cost is very high, too and I'm on the verge of canceling the service. Other than that, when I called up, they gave a solution as to what should be done and the tech support was pretty good.

    I needed some security for my home, so I looked up ADT. It was a good price and a good service. Their sales rep did his job well and he got me hooked. The installation team was cool and they worked on the door on the garage and my doors in the house. They did it in due time. I wish I had some more Ring and cameras so I could see what's going on.     ADT has been around forever and I know the name so when I had my alarm installed in my garage, I called them. I've been a member for three or four years now and the customer experience was good. The installer hooked me up, walked me through the system, showed me everything I needed to do, and even offered to come back out. I talked to him about getting internet access out to the garage to put in cameras and he told me some things I needed to get or do.

    I had a situation with my motion sensor in my garage and they sent me out a new one but trying to get it hooked up was awkward. I called and set up an appointment. The guy that was supposed to come out and talked to me on the phone and walked me through everything, called me the day before but I was at work. I chose a specific time because I would be home to do that. He said he'd reschedule for that day and he did but they called me the next week to do it. Once again, I was at work and I told the next person I chose those certain days because I would be home. The rep said he'd set me up another appointment and I never heard from him again. So, I don't have a sensor in my garage right now and I haven't had one for a while. But all in all, I was happy with the service.

    The system doesn't have a connection half the time. The last six that they had, I cannot even reach the panel to look at it or to change anything. It's just a horrible setup. They don't have any customer service. They just want your money.

    As soon as January comes, I will turn my ADT system off. I will never use ADT again. I've had 20 people ask me what kind of alarm I have. I told everyone, "It's ADT and please don't ever use it. They are the worst." My ADT system was already installed. The techs just came and turned it on. Those guys were nice. However, I hated this system since they turned it on and the customer service has been atrocious. They didn't explain to me that I was getting into a two-year contract with them.

    When I called the lady to turn it off because the front doorbell never worked, which was the only reason I wanted it, she was condescending and the most arrogant person I've talked to in customer service in my life. The only reason I got back was another lady called me three weeks later and she walked me through it, but she blamed my internet for the reason that the front doorbell wouldn't work. I had internet everywhere else in the house, but she said it was my internet's fault.

    I've been using ADT for 20 years and they upgraded me six years ago. At the moment, I have a problem with a window sensor. For the most part, the customer service has been good, except for the time before last. I was extremely disappointed. My home was built about 12 years ago and everything was wired in my house. I had a problem with the window and I called ADT to send out somebody to repair it. The first thing the fellow told me is that they don't repair wired systems anymore. I found out afterward it was not true. He also told me that I had to buy a wireless for the two windows that were a problem, which was several hundred dollars that I didn't need to spend. On top of that, he said I had to pay him upfront.

    I have a multi-million-dollar home and I wasn't gonna screw the guy out of whatever it costs to pay. I’ve been a customer of ADT for 20 years and I almost left ADT after all these years. So, that's a bad experience. I pay my bills every quarter as I'm supposed to, on time for two houses. And I've never had a serviceman come in and pay upfront before they take care of my dryer, my refrigerator or my oven. That's the wrong attitude from ADT’s perspective. This isn't the inner city. I've been a reliable customer for a lot of years and they should know what they're dealing with. I'm very disappointed.

    Another man came out just recently to take care of something and it was fine. He did exactly what he was supposed to do. I had a battery that went dead and he came out and fixed the battery. After he was done, he called and told me what the charge was. I gave him my credit card and we were done. ADT, for the most part, is reliable and I don't have a problem with them. The problem is with one of the service people.

    I've had this account with ADT for 20-some years. I heard about them through an ad and they have a good reputation. Over the years, I've had interactions with the installers and they seemed to know what they were doing. They were efficient and told me how to operate the system. I've had reps call me when my alarms went off by mistake and 99% of the time, it's very good customer service. My equipment is 20 years old and I probably need to have one of the motion detectors replaced, but I haven't gotten around to it. So, I have to call and ask them to deactivate one particular motion detector until I'm able to get that fixed. I have to wait on hold just a little while when I call and then, they're able to get it all done. The whole thing probably takes five minutes. If people need an alarm system, ADT is the company to go with.

    I appreciate the ADT rep's knowledge. She knew a lot about the company, the things that it did, and how it was ran. She showed me where different things like the alarms and everything would be located and how they would work and things like that. She followed up three times a month just to see how I was doing. So, it was really good. I appreciate that. I just bought this brand new home, and she was telling me as time goes on, I could update. I like that part. She started me off minimum so I wouldn't lose interest. I told her I didn't want a lot of gadgets and she told me what I can do.

    She spoiled me. Sometimes, it could be a bit much with calling customer service. One time, the alarm went off and I didn't know my code. I didn't know why it went off, and it had to do with batteries. They kept on saying, “Well, we gotta send you stuff through the mail.” I was like, “Wait a minute. This alarm is going off.” I didn't like that part when it was customer service.

    ADT is one of the worst companies I've dealt with. They have the monitoring system. I've had a couple of false alarm things. They called. They have done that okay. However, ADT changes their products whenever they feel like it and tell people what they have is obsolete. They charge a fortune to just come out and do nothing. They would say on the phone they would help but they made me jump through hoops. I spend hours and hours on the phone asking a simple question.

    We had a problem with the cameras that we had installed. They are supposed to take pictures and videos. They only took live at the moment. So, if I'm in Florida on vacation, and I live in New Jersey, and I wanna look and see what's happening at my house, I can go on and see it at that moment. But if I wanted to see what happened at midnight with a picture that should have been taken if somebody were to break in or look at my house or drive up to it, it no longer took pictures. I called ADT and said, “I don't really need a live feed thing. What I need is to know if anything ever happened.” The pictures that were taken are my proof. That's why we wanted it. But I couldn't be guaranteed that I could, “Let me look at my house and watch the robber jump in the window.” It's more than likely it would happen when we are not looking. That's the whole point of the cameras. They would look and see.

    I got a guy on the phone who told me, “We have to go through the whole system.” They would have to go through everything on the phone with me and check everything. I said to him, “I don't mean to be rude to you, but I'm a customer. And I'm telling you my cameras don't work. I'm uncomfortable with it. I want it either fixed, or new ones. But whatever you can do. I have to do something to fix it.” “You can't just do that. I can't just say we could do that because I have to check the system.” “Okay. So, check the system.” Checking the system took more than two hours on the phone. At the end of the system check, I said, “Fine. I'll do it. I need new stuff. If that's the only way you'll do it, fine.” At the end, he said, “I didn't really find anything on my end while I was checking, while you were doing it. Everything looks okay. So, nope, I think you're good.”

    I said, “No. I'm not good. I called you because I'm not good. And I don't care what your system is showing or not showing. You have to understand that I'm telling you something, and this is a problem.” “There's nothing I could do for you, ma'am. I'm so sorry.” They're a waste of time. I still have cameras that don't take pictures. What are my options at this point? I can go to another company, buy all new cameras, have them installed, finish with ADT. It's an expense to do that. So, I've been limping along with, "All right. It's fine. Let's just hope nothing happens, and it'll be okay.”

    The sales reps were good and the installation went perfectly. I’ve been with ADT for three years and everything is good for what is featured. I got the limited package. But the reason I had ADT was because I had to have some kind of insurance and to get my homeowners insurance, I needed a security system.     ADT's rep came to the door and said he could put it the system in for free. However, I don't understand it and I don't like it. I was supposed to be able to look at this thing on the wall and see if somebody is at the door. I cannot do that. And if my phone rang and it said somebody was at the door, I would have to go into my account to see the picture, but I would have to know my password. Forget that. My friends all see it. It pops up on their phone. All we're using it for is to hear whether my husband goes in and out the door. It’s a lot of money to pay because I had other alarms that did the same thing.

    My housekeeper has one code. My kids could have a code. I had some workers. We just bought the house. I tried to change the codes. I went in there. They told me, "Just watch this video." I watched the video on TV. I changed the codes, but none of them work. I have to give them all my main codes for them to get in. I'm not overly thrilled. Try something else like Ring first.

    I've had ADT for nine and a half years now. I was a truck driver and I was gonna be away from home a lot. I thought, "I better get a security system." They did a good job in the installation. I had some remodeling done on my house and they broke a couple of the sensors. I had a guy come out a month ago and put new sensors in. He was more helpful than the people on the phone.

    I got disconnected a few times. They weren't also clear on what I needed to get done and how much it was gonna cost. I still don't know if they ever credited me back 100 and something dollars 'cause they charged me for something, and then when he got out there, it was gonna be more, and the prices didn't match. It was a fiasco. They may have just kept the original money and then applied it to my account.

    The system does a good job. Sometimes, though, I see that they have a special going on and it's cheaper than what I'm paying and I've been with them forever. But I'm satisfied with ADT. It does what I need. It's only gone off once and that was when me and my girlfriend came home early and didn't turn it off. But other than that, it seems to work. It keeps people from robbing my house.

    My ADT service package is okay. It meets my needs. The fire alarm went off recently due to the smoke alarm making it go off and the fire department had to come out. We tried to let them know that they didn't have to come out, but they came anyway, which if it was a real fire, I would have been satisfied. I tried to let them know there wasn't a fire. My son was here. I wasn't here. It went off because he forgot to put the exhaust on. I had to tell him, "When you cook, if you're gonna be cooking, frying or whatever, cut that on 'cause it's gonna set the alarm off."

    I'm not satisfied because I don't understand why sometimes I can see my camera out front, but sometimes I can't. Some animals came up on my porch, and I don't understand why the camera didn't show that. They ate my mums. I had to throw them away because they didn't even look right. My mums were on my steps, and they had to come on the top step to eat the top mum. Also, my friend came over here the day before and I could see him leaving, but I didn't see him on the camera coming. Also, the battery went out and I just got two batteries to put for the back door, but I don't know where the batteries go and how to put them in for the back door. I might be getting rid of ADT and finding somebody else. I pay too much. I'm still paying for the equipment. I pay $70.44 a month for the ADT plus $45 a month for the equipment.

    We got ADT so we can monitor everything when we're away and the service is fine, but sometimes it'll go out when it's raining or if we have a blackout. All the camera systems go down. We have Spectrum and when they had an outage, the cameras couldn't pick up any footage outside the house. That time, we had one of the cars broken into, and we weren't able to see who did anything to it.

    Before ADT, I had another camera company at my property. I had six cameras at the time, but none of them was working. They told me it was very easy to install, but it was not. I found ADT, and they came in to do it for me and made it easier. The technician was awesome. He set up everything for me and was very patient.     Be careful with this company. I was a loyal customer for 9 years, and every time I called, they thanked me for my loyalty. The initial contract for new customers is 5 years, and during my 9 years, I never missed a payment. A couple of years ago, I added cameras to my system, which according to ADT triggered a new 5-year contract—as if I were a new customer again. Recently, I moved and wanted to bring the system with me, but they would charge me a $600 fee to move the cameras to the new property. This was the same fee I paid when I initially added the cameras. On top of that, they wouldn’t let me transfer the existing equipment. Frustrated, I decided to cancel, only to be hit with a $700 cancellation fee because of the camera addition 2 years ago. I’m extremely disappointed by this trap they’ve set to keep customers locked in. I’ll share my story with anyone who asks about my experience. Shame on ADT.

    One of the most surreal experiences with the support I have ever had. I paid nearly $1500 for the equipment. After 3 months, one of the smoke detectors installed by ADT started going off every night for no reason. The batteries in the detector are not replaceable, so the only way to fix it is to replace the device. I chatted for 3 days (!) with 4 different support agents, and none of them was willing to help me. They all wanted to forward me to a "virtual technician" and perform troubleshooting steps that are not even applicable to this type of device. The bottom line is these people are ready to lose a client for $25. I wonder if anyone ever will show up if someone will break into my house. Terrible.

    Years ago, the guy that came out here was a little bit testy to work with, but he'd been up in a hot attic up in Corning for a business and had issues with that, and had to go back to that. We had a little bit of an issue on the placement of the control panel. I thought about getting a second control panel so in that way, I could come in through either door. But it worked out. I got the comprehensive package. When the techs are out installing stuff, they like to punch screwdrivers through sheetrock and break off a piece to get the wire through, like from an attic to down below. It would be great if they'd have a little hand drill. It would be a lot neater and it would work better.

    My name is Susan, and I live in Marietta, GA. I was diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer, which has spread to my lungs, chest wall, and bone marrow. I've reached a point where I can no longer care for myself and need to move in with family for assisted care. Unfortunately, my experience with ADT has been deeply disappointing. I’ve been an ADT customer for just five months, having signed a 24-month contract. When I contacted ADT today, November 19, 2024, to explain my situation and request to terminate the contract, I was shocked by their lack of compassion. Despite explaining my terminal condition, I was told I needed to provide a letter from an assisted living facility to waive the $1600+ remaining on my contract. When I clarified that I would be moving in with a family member for care instead of a formal facility, I was placed on hold multiple times and transferred between departments.

    After 25 minutes, I was told that moving in with a family member does not qualify as "assisted living" in their terms, and they refused to waive the remaining fees. Their policy only recognizes professional facilities—not care provided by loved ones—despite the fact that the need for assistance is the same. I am terminally ill, yet ADT’s representatives showed no compassion or humanity. Instead, they prioritized their bottom line over the dignity and care of a human being. Their refusal to make an exception or show flexibility in such an extreme situation is heartbreaking and unacceptable.

    I had expected better from a company that markets itself as providing security and peace of mind. My experience has been the complete opposite. I cannot recommend ADT to anyone, especially those who value empathy, customer care, and ethical business practices. To anyone considering ADT: think carefully about what kind of company you want to entrust with your security and well-being.

    I'm not very happy with ADT right now. I've got a total of $500 worth of false alarms that I had to pay for starting as of the beginning of the year until now. This summertime, I was getting false alarms and the police would just show up. ADT doesn't even call to check if it's a false alarm. It's an alarm system that's secretive that goes directly to the policeman. Originally, I told AHS that since I was having problems with my alarm system they should to put it on test mode so it would not go off because I can't ever hear it. They can't call to warn me either because it's a silent alarm. So, the police came out and I have had to pay $500. I just got a new bill for $100, from July to August, from City of Richardson's police department.

    We've let everybody at ADT know and we've documented it. My payment shows that ADT owe me $410 and ADT's false alarm department asked me to send all the payments and the confirmation of receipt of payments to the false alarm for the City of Richardson. I have done all that but that is still not enough because they continue to ask for more stuff. Also, there are no phone numbers, which is horrible. I've been sending everything via email. ADT also recently sent me the email me to resend the stuff to this address or fax it. But I've already done this. This has been going on since summertime and I am so frustrated.

    ADT has been completely not helpful and I'm getting ready to report them to the state for the SEC because it's completely stalling when I have proven to them that I paid for the false alarms. Everybody that I spoke with this summer documented it and they agreed with me that they even reduced my bill from $76 to 16.23 for five months because they knew they were wrong. But they still owe me reimbursement for the other bills.

    We had even had a technician come out here who checked all the deals and changed the special codes because they said I could have been pushing one of my codes, which I wasn't doing anything different on my codes. I got one flat code now for the family. Now, I have another tech coming out because I'm having a sensor with one of my windows. So, I'm having to bypass my code right now. My boyfriend told me that I should file with the State of Texas for this problem with how they're stalling to pay me reimbursement. And I can file it with the state. I even threatened the false alarm company via email that I was going to call the state and report it.

    ADT has the largest brand name in my area and I've been with them for 8 to 10 years. If the alarm goes off, that part of their service is great. But when it comes to their billing, upgrading the hardware, trying to figure out what's the best rate plan or however that stuff works, I find them to be extremely difficult. At some point, my bill just went up for no reason. And they have this business model that when your contract expires, they raise the price.

    I understand how different business models work, but changing your home security service provider is quite an undertaking. I don't see the business analytics where people are changing home security service providers on whims, rapidly enough to put them in contracts to lock them in. I can understand locking them in if you were subsidizing a certain amount of equipment, but once that equipment's fully paid for, the fact that your service plan could go up leaves a bad taste in the customer's mouth. It's not good faith business practice.

    Also, the system's functionality is rapidly antiquated. The cameras are all crap and terrible. A year or so ago, I decided to upgrade everything and I wanted the newest stuff. I also wanted a rate plan that was comparable to what was out there. But I couldn't do it through one department. They have this save team that could give me a better pricing but couldn't sell me all the equipment I wanted. I had to go through the sales team to buy all the equipment I wanted, but they couldn't give me the rate plan. And it was beyond me how ridiculous that was from a customer experience perspective. I've never had an issue getting to people but at the end of the day, the company doesn't have a process to comprehensively offer what I want. I have a more comprehensive system than their average customer, but I'm somebody who wants to spend more and they're making it hard for me to do that.

    Other than that, every single technician that has ever come through has been fantastic and they try to do the best by you. If they see some equipment in your home that they can replace with something a little better and they have it on the truck, they'll do it. But it's not a company policy. Or if it is, they're doing a good job of secretly hiding it.

    ADT does everything you expect an alarm company to do. But if I wanted to go through the process of switching carriers, I would consider it. I just don't feel like dealing with it. At the end of the day, alarm systems are not going to stop somebody who really wants to enter your home. What alarm systems are good for is they help prevent the crime of opportunity, which is 95% to 98% of crimes. That's why I use ADT and in that sense, having the alarm system is great. But having somebody call you after three minutes that somebody could have broken into your house and stolen something is not really that effective, other than if somebody's broken into your house and for some reason hasn't committed all their crimes within three to five minutes and ADT is able to send the police to save the day.

    We've been with ADT a little over a year and the installer was great. It was a young kid and the installation took him a really long time, but he was very helpful and showed us what to do. He was nice. However, we've had issues since the beginning. It was almost 10 days after they first installed when the first sensor fell off and the alarm went off in the middle of the night. ADT had the installer come out and look at it, and he put a stronger glue on it, but then, the next day, it fell off again anyway.

    The reps have not been very helpful. For more than six months now, we don't even use the alarm because all of the little sensors fall off. They've sent me things to do it myself, but it's not something I should have to do. That's not my job and I don't wanna put stuff on the wall and mess things up. Now, we don't use the alarm and I'm waiting for my contract to expire.

    We've been here 22 years, and we went through a service through our phone company, but that went out. I went with ADT because I thought they were a quality company. We've had them for 15 years now, and the first six were great. We decided to upgrade with them and had a new system put in four years ago, but it has not performed. We had the security system and the alarm, but then went with some cameras and motion things. Initially, it was fine, then we started having trouble with cameras and customer service. It got frustrating, and I have not been pleased with ADT for about the last year and a half. I tried to get out of the contract we're in, but I didn't wanna buy out the four-year contract, so I'm waiting for it to expire.

    ADT automatically bills me every month and takes the money out, but the service has been horrendous. The system is not reliable. Some of our cameras keep going out. They come back up and it's hard to get ahold of somebody to talk to, to try to see what the deal is. They try to do the self-diagnostic, and I'm not a computer or electronics expert, but I try to get things done. Our alarm has also went off and there was no response to see if anything was wrong or not. As soon as I get out of the contract, I'm gonna look for another provider.

    The installer guy came out and the first thing he said was, "Hey, it's a three-year contract." From what I can recall, I don't think ADT made me aware of that when I did the initial signing up for it. Still, I was fine with it and it doesn't matter. However, as far as the install went, they tried to offer me more equipment to finance, and we just wanted the basic.

    ADT is a big company, and I've been with them about a year and a half. We only paid 40, but they just went up. Now, we pay 54 a month and the cost is not bad at all, but the service hasn't gotten any better. It's not that fast. When I get somebody that rings the doorbell, usually, I don't wanna go right out there, but it takes a long time for the doorbell camera to switch on. By the time people ring my doorbell and I get to open the app, most of the time, they're gone. Other times, the camera doesn't record all the people that go in my driveway. It's not perfect, and if I wasn't in a contract, I would definitely shop around and see what else is out there.

    Getting in touch with the ADT representatives has been fairly easy. I'm not too happy with the system. It seems like everybody's got a more advanced security system than what I have. Mine must be ancient. I haven't called ADT to let them know that. I was called about a week ago about updating my billing process. I didn't quite understand what was going on and they asked me for my security word and they called me and I was very hesitant on doing that. I gave it and then I turned around and called to make sure that I did the right thing and didn't do something that's gonna get me in trouble.

    I didn't really like them calling me and then asking me for my security code. There's gotta be a better system where, if they're gonna call me, they already know who I am, so they don't really need my security code. If they do need my security code, then they need to have me go online to do something or have them get ahold of me online where it's more legit.

    We paid $100 for this new device to be put in and programmed into our system, but there is trouble already. That's disappointing. The previous time we had somebody come out to do something for us, we told him that the little yellow light on the panel was on, and he said it was due to a power failure. He reprogrammed it. But it kept happening again. We ignored it. We don't have anything to do with it because it doesn't seem to bother the workings of the system. It's just an annoying light to see. However, because of the bit of trouble we've had recently here and there with the control panel that didn't seem user-friendly, my husband would get frustrated. We have been on the phone in the past with some of ADT's tech people and to talk us through it was ridiculous. I had to wait on a queue for a while. But once I got somebody, they were very helpful and schedule someone within a few days.

    It would improve if ADT put a new panel in because it's probably more user-friendly and up-to-date. But I'm not willing to spend that money. As long as I can arm the house every night and I go to bed and arm it when we leave the house, I'm happy. I feel much more secure because I have it. I could never not have this, especially where we live. We are in a gated community, yet that cannot be the only thing we think of as far as security. We have to go beyond that. You should look into ADT. Get your house and yourself protected.

    The system works fine. However, ADT is a very dishonest company. I had to move from one address to another and what the salesperson told me wasn't true. They said it was up to Safe Haven to do stuff. I called Safe Haven, they said it was up to ADT. I had to make close to a dozen phone calls and it was a horrible experience.     The young lady did good. They installed the whole place. Everything went well. Two years later, I had a problem with some smoke detectors downstairs. I was supposed to pay for it and they would reimburse me. They never did. When they came to check the parts, the tech said, "This has already expired. You need to pay for them." But we found out that wasn't expired. They still came and charged me for it. So, I spoke to a supervisor that would reimburse me. And I went to surgery. And then my wife said, “You know what? Let's leave it like that." Other than that, the service is great.

I called ADT to get some information. I must have been transferred six times to somebody else. At the end, I never got my questions answered. I didn't get good resolution. Why did ADT buy out Alder and not support them is beyond me.

    The alarm system is the system I had before ADT took over. If my alarm went off with Brinks, they would call me immediately and say, "Hey, your alarm went off," and they would send somebody out. I opened my door and the alarm went off. I took it down, but I never received a call from ADT. No one has come. Also, when ADT bought out Brinks, I now have to pay for things that I didn't have to. If my battery went out, ADT told me I got to pay a fee. I've never had to pay a fee before. And when everything was bought over, we assumed that we would have the same coverage. But some of their employees would come out and say, "I'm not charging you because you were under the old one." Whereas they have others that would come out and say, "Yeah. Well, you're gonna have to pay for that." Where's the consistency?

    When my battery went out recently, I called them. They told me, "You can either set up an appointment and we can come and take care of that or you can go to a store and you can get your own battery and install it." I'm not gonna install this battery. I pay enough money as it is. Why should I have to pay when they should be able to come out since I'm paying a monthly fee? Those were the options. I made an appointment. It took a couple of days, but they finally came out and took care of it.

    ADT's customer service is not good. They don't call you back. They sell you stuff. It's not good. If you ask them to get back with you, they don't ever get back with you. Their stuff are supposed to guarantee it works, but it doesn't work. I wish I can get out of my contract with them and don't owe them another dime. I have to do what I do. They go get their money no matter what.

    I wanted to get a security system and cameras go along with it. I live 12 miles out of town. I have slow internet. I told them, "I do not want that goes with Wi-Fi. I want the CCTV to be wired in." They came out here anyway and put the wireless internet service cameras in. They did not work. It took me almost three months to get them to come back out and take them out of my house and put CCTV in. Then it went to a third party. Now, I have one I just called. They charged me $65 to come out to fix it and it didn't fix it. It's still doing the same thing. As far as communication, we can call them and they would never call back with a follow-up date for coming out to fix it. The only way we can get ahold of them is by texting them. I wish I'd never signed a contract with them.

    I've had ADT Security for about 25 years in my house in Washington, D.C. USAA, my insurer, provides a discount for ADT. So, when I bought my house in Florida, I hired ADT to install a security system because it's a vacation house which will be vacant from time to time. The house has six exterior doors and a number of interior spaces with ADT sensors in them. The sensors must be made in Timbuktu because they run the batteries down very, very rapidly, which provides me with an alert on my phone that an exterior door battery is dead, which requires me to bypass it. Which means I can't use the system effectively to protect my house.

    Furthermore, my USAA agreement with ADT gives me free maintenance, which means they come out and fix the batteries. But they won't come out and fix the batteries unless I'm here. This is my vacation house. I'm not here, so they can't come and fix anything. They ceded the whole thing to some customer service department that has a checklist. But if it's not on the checklist, they can't answer the question.

    So, I have spent $40 worth of those expensive batteries. I've learned how to change the things myself. But I sometimes short-term rent the house to people, perfectly legally, licensed and insured appropriately. But I get calls in the middle of the night that a sensor has gone bad and the alarm system is going crazy. But I can't do anything about that because I'm not there. So, it's a horrible system. It's a system made for people who live in their house. But if you're in your house, you don't need a security system. If you're not in your house, that's why they have a button that says “Away”. The entire “Away” function is worthless.

    ADT is organized to try to not come to my house. So, every time you call about a problem, they’d say, “Go to the website. You'll be able to fix it.” It's designed for me to fix my own problems. I'm paying for them to fix my problems. So, after we go round and round and round on that with two or three phone calls saying, “You need to send somebody here,” then they send somebody here. But the people who come here are fabulous. They roll their eyes at what I tell them about the system. They've changed out sensors. But the sensors they have are junk. So, even when a guy who's really good comes in here and changes a sensor, it runs the battery down in no time at all. So, it's absurd and horrible.

    At our current location, we've been with ADT for about a year and a half now. They've been great. We have continuous issues with the fire alarm, though. It will randomly go off at times. Nothing going on in the house. No candles, no cooking and the alarm will go off. The fire department has responded one time. Every other time, we've been able to stop them before the fire department got there. They have sent technicians out to replace the unit. We continue to have issues. We're not really sure what's going on, and we have asked for multiple notes to be made on our account.

    Right now, we've just said, “It's something apparently we're gonna have to deal with.” But when we tried to get it fixed and resolved, it's been a lot of back and forth between ADT and Safe Haven trying to figure out what's going on and who's responsible. There are no notes on the account when we call. That's been a bit of a headache.

    I've had issues with ADT and would not recommend it to anybody. My dad used them and he had good things to say. And then, they came out and it seemed like they were gonna be a great fit, but that didn't end up being the case. The installation didn't go well. I've had multiple technicians back to try to fix and repair things. We were charged for things that weren't supposed to be used, they didn't have the equipment on installation, and I have not been able to get my cameras to work since day one and nobody returns phone calls.

    So, we've been paying for a service that we can't even use and they said that there's nothing that they'll do about that to get us out of our contract because we just want them to come and take the cameras out. Since we're in a five-year contract, we have to pay for five years on something that doesn't work. Then, no one calls you back every time you call them. They'll escalate the call to supervisors every time and no supervisor will call back. A technician is supposed to be scheduled to come out on a day that I never scheduled. It doesn't work with my schedule when, all of a sudden, I get these random text messages that a tech is coming out.

    ADT is a horrible company. When I called to try and get the service installed, a saleslady in the area came right over to my house. She was here in about 20 minutes. She didn't have any kind of contracts or anything for me to read. She just told me that I could cancel at any time. I'm a disabled veteran. We haven't even moved into our house yet. There's no furniture in our house, and me and my wife were here, and this lady is telling us all this great stuff about the system. We used to have a glass break sensor in the bedroom, and there should be window sensors on every window. I even asked her during that time, “If any of those sensors are missing, and then do you guys replace them for this new install? Because I'm a new customer." She was like, “Yeah, that's all taken care of.”

    Then she started going over we have to have a contract, and I said, “How long is the contract?” She said, “You can cancel the contract at any time.” She never told me it was a three-year contract. Apparently, you're supposed to cancel in the first seven days because within 30 days, I hated the service. I found out the city I live in requires a alarm fee to be paid, and I didn't know about that. Then I didn't wanna pay the alarm fee, so I was gonna cancel the service and that was when I found out that I was stuck in a three-year contract.

    The system has been in place for three years. My contract canceled. I've had complaints in that time too. My bill kept going up, and when I called and asked them about it, they said that's just how that went. The initial discounts ran out. I said, “Well, I was told I was getting a veteran's discount. I didn't stop being a veteran.” They were like, “Well, we only do that for three months.”

    After they installed, I had to call a technician because two of my sensors didn't even work, and they had to replace the power pack. And that was when I asked about the other sensors. There was eight different window sensors that were supposed to be in the back bedrooms in my house, and they said they never existed. I never even had those sensors. I would have to pay $100 a piece to get those put back in even though the lady told me that it would be included with the install. There was supposed to be a break glass sensor in my bedroom, and that one wasn't in there either. I had to call the technician, though, because the back door sensor wasn't working. I had to pay $100 for the same technician to come out and change the battery in my back door sensor because nobody would help me on the phone walk through that process.

    After I watched him do it, I didn't pay to have another battery changed because that's ridiculous. The sensor kept messing up, though, and it kept going off. Whenever I would set my system, it would keep saying that my garage door was opening and my garage door was opening. And because of that, it would then call the police department. They're supposed to call me first. And when they called me, I told them specifically, “If it's just that sensor, once you pass my back door, the motion sensor would kick off also.” If it's just the door malfunctioning and the motion sensors not going off, I knew nobody was in my house. So, I told them not to call the police department.

    They kept calling the police department every time! That causes issues with the police answering an alarm at my house because I keep having false alarms at my house. Because there's so many false alarms, the city makes you pay extra when you have an alarm. It totally killed me. I called and complained about that. Customer service was rude to me every single time, and then I would lose my temper and had to get off the phone. The alarm people, even though they called the police, they did call very quickly when the alarm went off. So, the response time for them calling was great. The customer service, if you try to call in with a problem about your bill or the problem with your sensors, absolutely sucks.

    I would highly recommend ADT. I love the system and support I get. We don't live in a high crime area. But it's much more than that. It gives me the ability to know what's going on at my house even when I'm not there. I can watch on my phone. We travel and we have pets. We leave the pets at home and have a pet sitter come in and take care of them. I know when the pet sitter gets there, when she leaves, and how long she was there with them. We have glass breakage. If somebody were to break a window, I would know immediately. We have the sump pump alarm, so that watches the sump pump for me. I can look and see what windows and doors are open, when they were opened or closed, and how long they were open for.

    Sometimes, I would have an alarm go that it's a low battery, but I've already replaced the battery. I would call in and the help I've got with getting things reset has always been very helpful. Whenever they need to send a technician out, which is not often, it's very convenient. They schedule around my schedule so it would be early mornings, evenings, weekend, whatever. Two-thirds of the time, when they send a technician out, they didn't charge me.

    When I got the system installed, I had them also install a sump pump alarm on our sump pump. Our basement is finished. It's carpeted. It's a game room. It's beautiful. The power went out. The sump pump reached a higher level than it was supposed to. The alarm went off and notified me on my phone. We were not home at the time. We were up north with friends. I got a call from ADT. My sump pump alarm went off. We were an hour and a half away from home. My husband got in the truck, headed home, got home before it crested the sump pump. He was able to bail with a bucket and get a battery backup going to get the water pumped out and kept the basement from flooding. That has happened several times and always happened when we were not home.

    One time, we had called the neighbor because we were more than a couple of hours away. We were out of state. We were able to tell our neighbor what code to punch in to get into the house. He ran over there with the generator, got the sump pump going with the generator, and avoided damage that way. Otherwise, we would have come home from vacation to a flooded basement. That some pump alarm has saved my basement from flooding at least three times. If my basement had flooded, I would have $10,000 damage minimum. Chances are it wouldn't be covered by homeowner's insurance. That would be money out of my pocket. So, the $80 a month I pay ADT is worth every penny because it has saved me having to redo the basement three times.

    The first ADT tech that came was good. The guy that came and installed everything was good too. It was a late night, but he got everything on. He just needed to have a lot of knowledge on the product. Other than that, he was good. He did his thing. I had an issue reconnecting with the Wi-Fi because I had an issue with the router. I couldn't do it myself, so I had somebody come out. They got it. Something with the power wasn't working anymore. So, he did it a different way, which is cool as well. I’m starting not to be happy with the doorbells. The picture quality is not as clear. Also, I'm not able to zoom in too far out. Other than that, the panel is cool. And all the sensors are great.

    I've been with ADT for three years now and my experience has been average. Response time is not quick, but they do respond. They have a delay, though. For example, the front door alarm, I can come into the house and I notice that the front door has been opened anywhere from 7 to 15 minutes later. By the time that happens, I could come in, I could steal all the valuable electronics, have them loaded in the truck, and gone. Everything in the package works component-wise.     I have not had service with ADT since July. We had a terrible storm on my street and I still didn’t have service once they put the electricity back on my street. In July, a technician came out and I paid 100 and some dollars. I bought a battery and whatever else. I paid for the system to work. It never did work. I talked to Rico a couple of weeks ago and he did more than anything. I have a hall panel and then inside there is also like something to do with ADT, and most of the time, that's green. It was red. So, he got me back to green there. He said, "I think I fixed everything except your camera," and that camera is on the porch. I would have to get on a ladder and I'm too old to be getting up on a ladder to take care of that camera. So, that was one problem.

    Rico was the best agent but I’m not satisfied with ADT. I ended up paying because I wanna have some security. I can’t even put my code in to set it. I would set the system at night and take it off in the morning. I would set it when I went out. Now, I can't set it. I'm still paying the bills and I'm not getting the service. One agent I spoke to said it would be $150 to have somebody come out, and I'm like, "That's ridiculous." What I've been doing is looking for another agency. But so far, I haven't found one that I consider that much better than what I already have.

    The service features in my ADT package are about as good as they can get considering that I'm not proactive about getting things taken care of. I have some things I need taken care of right now and I've needed them taken care of for quite some time, but I've been too busy to call ADT. And if they don't know about them, they can't fix them. So, I don't blame them. Overall, I think it's a good system. I don't have any complaints.

    There was another company out here a couple of weeks ago trying to sell me their system, which was expensive and I didn't see that they had anything better to offer me and they were gonna cost me a lot of money. So, I told them I was satisfied with ADT and that still remains true today. Although, I wish they'd offer me some additional cameras for free. I'd pay for the installation.     When I was getting my system installed, ADT promised me the world and the perfect solution. We were gonna get motion sensors put in the house, and we've got cats, and the rep said, “Oh, yeah. No problem.” But if anything moves above a certain level on the floor, it sets it off, so that was a waste of money. So, he just told us what we wanted to hear, and that was it. There was really no comeback on it. The equipment is troublesome. We've had multiple sensor failures and battery issues. ADT was responsive saying they would come out and fix the issues. It’s just the inconvenience.

    My dissatisfaction started with the loss of a certain cell service. We were gonna lose the ability for the cell service to report if there was an issue if the internet has gone down. So, they said, “Well, you gotta upgrade.” They wanted over $1,000 to upgrade because we have to replace the equipment, which then I brought up the fact that I've read the contract, and in the contract, the equipment is theirs. So my comeback to that was, “It's your equipment. You need to upgrade it.” They said, “Well, that's not the way we interpret it. You've got to purchase new equipment.”

    We went through this twice. We had two service guys come to install the new equipment. Luckily, the service guy said, “Well, you really don't need to do it because it doesn't affect your alarm. It just affects if you lose power.” The disappointing fact is that somebody probably less observant would have paid $1,100 to upgrade equipment that they really didn't need. Also, when the first guy came out, he said, “Oh, you’ve had old equipment installed.” I said, “Well, it's only two years old.” He said, “Yeah, that’s discontinued, all that stuff.” We would never go with ADT and I would never recommend anybody to go with ADT based on that business practice.

    The ADT rep I worked with over the phone was fine. The installation was good too. They gave me an upgrade, the only thing I like about it. However, I was forced to get an upgrade because we were going to 5G. I could have told them no, but I wanted security for my home. So, I had to pay the extra money to do that. I also could have kept my own system, but they said if something happened, then they might not be able to respond as quickly. But they switched it up from the system I had and upgraded to the 5G thing that they had going on. In the beginning, a lot of times, I was having problems with my bills. I let them do automatic withdrawals, and it was messing that up a little bit. I had to call them back a lot once in a while. But now, everything's working out fine. They got everything straightened out.

    I've had ADT for almost 20 years and until the most recent round of changes, I've never had a problem with them. This new system that they have with Wi-Fi and different sensors and connections has been a problem. I've had times where it doesn't work and they've had to come back. I've had at least four visits since the installation. I have a big house and the way the panel works, it connects sometimes, but sometimes it doesn't. It's been at least four half days that I've had to cancel appointments. The technicians have been excellent. They come and do what's necessary but then it's not working again. For the last episode, apparently, there was a power surge, and one of the repeaters burned out. That was fixed.

    I have two panels, one on the first floor and one on the third floor. The third floor panel was not powerful enough to always get the signal. Lately, it seems to be getting the signal, but I don't always use it so I don't know for sure. I'm trying to keep track of whether the panel is working or anything goes on that shouldn't, and so far, it seems to be okay.

    ADT charged me a lot of money for sensors and to have it reconnected. It was almost $2,000 that I spent on that. But from the beginning of the reinstallation, I've had weeks at a time that I've gone without service. Several times, I've called thinking that it could be resolved over the phone, but it can't. There should be some length of time where I get no charge to compensate for that. I also paid for new sensors. I have a few that are still old and I was told if I get more new ones, it's $50 a piece. Everything is another charge.

    ADT is the biggest company in the country as near as I can tell. The reason I came to use ADT was because there was an incentive through the company when I bought my house where I got a free camera if I purchase through them. I've been with them for three years.     I was checking the prices between ADT and Brinks, ADT was the lower one. The installation was okay. They were able to take care of it in a timely manner. My back camera has been off for the last few months. They showed me how to repair it, but it came loose again. I tried to do what they told me to do once before when they went down and it didn't work. My sensor for my front door must have fallen off. When I called them, it's a $59 charge for them to come and then repair whatever. I'm overwhelmed. I don't have patience for all of that. They need to send their representative that's already trained to do that.

    We've had ADT for a long time. Their customer service needs better communication. They need more information given to the customers instead of keeping the stuff secret, and to back up the stuff they sell customers. My current system’s working good as long as I maintain it. There is no use having them come out. This summer, we went on a long trip. I asked them to come out and change all the batteries in the sensors. The customer service person said they don't do that kind of stuff. So, we got out 3,000 miles away and our batteries went bad on our sensors. So, that's poor customer service. It should be the customer's decision whether to pay them to come out or not. It shouldn't ever be the customer service people telling the customers, “We don't do that because it isn't on the schedule.” If they don't want to support that kind of stuff, then they should pull it off the market.

    ADT doesn't support stuff that they put in customers’ homes again. We had a camera system put in less than 10 years ago. We called them out to expand the system. We found out they have changed the companies they deal with. What I was told was these cameras weren't in existence anymore. In fact, the system wasn't. I got online and it sure is in the system, but they don't handle them anymore. So in that case, what the salesperson wanted me to do is spend $10,000 to upgrade the system. We’re on limited income, and we can't do that. They were trying to force a person to do the upgrade when the camera is working good. All I wanna do is put cameras out, so I went out and bought Ring cameras, which is working great for us. So, ADT lost the customer right there.

    Shortly after my house was burglarized, I checked with the two big security players in the game at the time and went with ADT for the less pricing. The system is working fine. If the alarm trips by itself, I get a phone call and they ask me my password. One time, they didn't call back. I was making a repair and didn't know I had to notify. I called, a little irritated, and asked them why wasn't I notified. I was paying, at that time, $80 a month. But that was only one time in 25 years so I can't complain about that.

    It's not a hardwired system. It's a transmission system where all the sensors are battery-operated. I was talking to the technician at the time about the Wi-Fi system but he told me to keep the system that I got. It's the old landline system, and it's very dependable. I had to have a couple sensors and a keypad replaced. But I've been with them since 1999 so replacing two sensors and a keypad isn't major. It's like a car. You gotta replace the tires every five years. With the ADT system, every five years, it seems I gotta replace the battery, which is only $21.

    My overall bill is almost 95 bucks a month for ADT, which I'm okay with it because it's security. I have the monthly service maintenance which they charge $19 a month for in the event you need repairs. When the guy had to replace the two sensors, he cut me a break. I did not have the warranty at that time, and he told me it was $60 for the first 20 minutes. I told him I wanted to get the monthly extended warranty and he didn't charge me for that.

    Every time, when I try to ask ADT for something, they never come to check their equipment or see if we need a new equipment. I've been with them for four years but they don't care about their customers. My Ring bell doesn't work. If somebody's ringing outside, you cannot hear at all. My app on my phone would start blinking so I know somebody is at the door. I called ADT and the lady told me she was gonna send somebody, but it was gonna be a cost for me. It's their equipment so why do I have to pay for that if they never come and see how the equipment is working. That's not right. If a customer has been with them for a long time and has never called them for something or given them any trouble, they should give the customer something free.

    I had issues with ADT at the beginning. Things fell off the walls and alarms went off because of improper installation. But it seems to have settled down now. The service is too expensive though. I paid $170 for three months for them to just monitor. They have hundreds of thousands of people that they monitor. Their prices are excessive for somebody that's retired. I was gonna cancel four years ago but some rep came out and told me they'd cut me a deal. But still, every year or two, it goes up. I'd tell others to go to SimpliSafe. It's a lot cheaper.

    I have no issue at all with the service. But most recently, there was a little bit of confusing dealing with the payment process on the account process. I was on auto pay for a long time and it was great. But when I switched a card, it was seemingly difficult to get it back on the auto pay. That was a little bit more frustrating than I anticipated. But it's been resolved now. But it was not easy to get the reps on the phone because their business model is the virtual assistant texting style. I'm not a big fan of that. I wish that it was easier to get somebody on the phone. But it was fine.

    I've had ADT since the 70's here in three houses that we bought and sold. I got ADT because they had a local number to the police when I started with it. The people that we call speak English. If it's in Kansas, that's what we're gonna do. We got a $4,000 bill for this system. Seventy percent of it functions all right. The bad thing is, I couldn't get ADT to come out and fix it. I may get somebody on the phone who gets paid by the hour to tell me what to do. I haven't seen an ADT truck in 10 years. Once you write the check, there are no ADT representatives. The service is the worst and they know it. They just don't wanna pay the people.

    Customer service side for if the alarm went off is good. In the very beginning, if I called to let ADT know I would go out of town and be unreachable by phone, they were responsive on that when I called customer service to allow them to know that. It's the technical parts and late parts that I have an issue with. Besides the person who installed the system, I still have problems with the service. ADT gave me a good example of what to do because of changing a battery. I changed the battery. I still have the issue. I haven't called back to get them out here because they would have to come and they said that they would charge me to come to fix a service that I pay $80 a month for. I'm not happy about that since I pay money for the service itself. I'm not a big fan of ADT.

    The system is outdated because it has been seven years. I probably need to have them upgraded, but ADT doesn't reach out to say, "We've reevaluated your system. Would you like me to send out a customer service and let's talk about maybe upgrades or doing something else? The systems have changed, and so maybe we shouldn't be charging you as much money, because we're charging those people now that amount for the Ring.” I don't have any of those services. They are not taking care of existing customers.

    I hate ADT. It's one of the worst security systems I've ever had. The doorbell camera hasn't worked since I got it, but I was told I had to pay $100 for somebody to come check it. Someone did come, but it still doesn't work. It's a horrible system. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. If I could go back in time and tell myself, "Don't get it," I would scream at myself, "Don't get it." When I signed up, everything was really vague. I'm an adult, so I signed whatever contract it was and that's what I got to deal with until I no longer have to deal with it.

    My parents had ADT 20 years ago and when I bought my home, I decided to try them out. We called the 800 number and got one of their deals for all the equipment and those things to be installed. No issues at all on that installation. Then subsequently, we moved to additional houses. They've also been able to move us from house to house without issue.     I had ADT years ago and I decided to go back to it when I knew that I needed it because of a large amount of homeless people in our neighborhood and a large number of porch pirates. I went back to them and added a doorbell camera and a door lock that I could unlock or activate from away from home so that I could see anybody coming on my porch if I was away from home because my family all lives up in Georgia. Overall, I'm satisfied until I have trouble. When I have trouble, I'm very dissatisfied.

    A couple of days ago, the same thing happened. I've had this kind of trouble four times. One time, they tried to charge me to send a technician out here. I'm in my 80s and I'm disabled and I live alone and they know that. That's part of my profile with them. He came and instead of replacing the camera, which was what the order was for because, apparently, the camera was bad, and he did not replace the camera. He said, "I adjusted your problem." After he left, he had changed the background, the area that I cover.

    So, I called ADT and I said, "Your technician did not change out the camera. So, what's the problem?" I still have a problem with that camera, but he changed my background. When he suggested it before he did it, I said, "No, I want it left exactly like it is." I live on a corner house with a side street that's very active. We have a lot of homeless people roaming up and down our streets. I used to be a computer designer. So, I've reset my background. That camera is still not working.

    So, that was the beginning of trouble about five months ago. Then twice since, before, a couple of days ago, it was the same thing. In a conversation that I had with one of the reps, I said, "So, you guys are determining how much I had the right area to cover. That camera and my system is set up for me to choose the background I want, not for you to set it the way you want it." She said, "Well, you do realize you only have X number of bytes." I said, "So, how much has been used?" It was less than half of it that time. Another time, they tried to charge me $85 for that technician that came out that changed my background, which made me really unhappy, and I went, "There ain't no way I'm paying that $85 because he was supposed to come and check on whether the camera needed to be replaced or not."

    This latest time, the other night, the young lady told me I did not have adequate storage area, so I needed to start deleting some of my saved clips. And I said, "I don't have any problem with that, but I'm gonna ask you again to reboot my system." She did finally honor my wish, which was my original call of 30 some minutes before that and rebooted. Right away, I had my camera working again but I had gone from 3:48 in the afternoon to 9 o'clock in the evening with my front patio camera recording nothing. So, I'm not happy with the service that they provide when there's problems with the cameras.

    It was reasonably easy to get in touch with ADT's reps but they are somewhat oblivious to my concerns and they don't seem to understand what I'm talking about. As for the service, I'm kind of on the bubble because right now, we're having problems with the alarm. They sent me two batteries, which I had to pay for, and the alarm's still going off. There's a periodic ringing noise and I'm not going to pay somebody to come out and look at it. They always want a service call but I'm not going to do that. So from what I've received, I'm not really tickled with the price I pay them.

    I used another security system and I had a bad experience with them. I moved up here to Lawrenceville, Georgia and all of my neighbors had ADT signs. I thought they must be doing a pretty good job, so I took a chance with them. Their guy went through the installation with m and he explained to me why he was putting everything where he was, especially the cameras outside. We talked about that quite a bit because I live very close to my neighbors, but I still wanted a full view of my backyard and he went the extra mile.

    ADT has been really good. But I don't live in a high-crime area. It's an area that's very close to two major interstates. People get off and we've not had any crime in our neighborhood, though I think it's because we all have security systems. ADT has been very responsive, too. I always get notifications on my watch and on my phone. One time, there was a notification and when I tried to bring up the camera, it wouldn't come up. That was when I knew that something wasn't right. I found that the camera on my doorbell quit and they said it shouldn't have quit that soon. They then replace it for me. They sent the replacement out to me and got the guy to walk me through how to change it out. Also, I have set off the alarm accidentally twice and they called immediately.

    The equipment stays in good order and other than that doorbell giving out, I've never had any trouble. I've been with them for four years. The equipment is easy to use, which was why I begged my father to get it, and I've been really happy with ADT. I don't check the system every time, but if I'm out of town and my doorbell camera notifies me at 10:30 at night, that lets me know that I better check my camera. I travel quite a bit, so it's very helpful to be able to just tap on it. I have the facial recognition, so I don't even have to key in anything. Plus, the price I pay for the service is a minimum amount of money. I've had security systems for a good 20 years and ADT is as good everywhere else as it is here. But because I have lived in several areas, I found that the type of service you get really depends on that location. I've heard in other communities that ADT didn't measure up but ADT does much better overall than the one that I was with.

    I've had ADT for about five years and I like their response time. I spoke with them on the phone and I've had a rep come to my house, which was an exceptional experience. Then I left my home for security as I was being protected by law enforcement. I went to another home where I purchased and used ADT. When I moved, I had another rep come to my house, which was another exceptional encounter. Within the first two weeks of having the service at my new home, I had an alarm sound and within seconds, my phone rang. I wasn't able to speak with them and law enforcement arrived within two minutes.

    It's a wonderful system. I love the keypad because I can function my alarm system on my phone. You can turn your alarm on when you're not at home from your phone. You can also turn it off before you get to your house. There's a button you can push if you make a mistake and disarm it, and you realize you're in trouble. ADT monitors every window, every door, and motion. And your animal can be in there and it doesn't set your alarm off.

    The interaction was positive up until the day of installation. Then my mood on ADT changed quite a bit but I was already locked in at that point. The sales rep went over a few different packages with me. We decided on one, which was a basic package, a couple cameras, the monitor, and a keypad for the front door that was all set up in the system. When the installation person came, he was about two hours late to a pretty late appointment as it was. He took about an hour to go through everything. I didn't realize he was also a salesperson who didn't come to install what I had bought. He came to say all the things that we should get and need to have in this house. He put on a pretty big guilt trip on why me not doing those things would be detrimental to my young daughter and family.

    I was sitting in my kitchen with this guy at 9:00 p.m., and he still hadn't even installed anything. Then my wife came in and he pitched it to her. I’d already told him I just wanted get what we ordered, but my wife was more inclined to agree with the guilt trip. It was gonna cost us, instead of 60 bucks a month, six grand, so it was a big difference. She and I disagreed and I asked the rep if we could decide on it another day. He said, “Yes. You can do that. But I'm here. These are all promotional items because of the package you want installed and there are certain credits points. If you wanna think about it, it's gonna be more expensive ‘cause you wouldn't get these promotions."

    In the end, we got it and he finished his install. He was a nice guy, but I was not happy with the way it went down. The next day, I called the sales rep who told me that she did inform me that he would be doing that and escalated it to her manager. I had multiple calls with this manager because she didn't know the situation. I had to explain it. She went back and reviewed the call. She said, "We're gonna use this as a training moment for her. Sorry you had that experience. But she's new." That didn't sit well with me.

    A couple days later, I called back and said, “Why don't I just cancel this whole thing? I live in a safe neighborhood. I don't think I need all this stuff on my windows.” They also installed fire detectors and smoke alarms. But they said when I signed the contract that night, it said specifically in the contract that I had three days to cancel. Meanwhile, I didn't get a copy of the contract. I don't even turn the system on at night. I use what I intended to buy originally. We have everything else set up, but we're not utilizing it to its maximum potential.

    The alarm went off 3 times. One was a malfunctioning system, and the whole fire department came to my house. Another one was my mistake. I was trying to test something out, but I turned it on. ADT called me and asked if they should send somebody out. I told them that was a false alarm and to please not send anybody out. They did it last time, and the fire department showed up five minutes later that time too. I feel bad when these guys have to come out for no reason and waste their time and resource. On another note, I also called ADT because they said there was a $200 incentive for me to buy the package. The rep processed that but certainly not proactively.

    The reps at ADT have been professional. But when they came to install the sensors, they only installed on the doors. If a window was broken or forced open, there's nothing to alert anyone about that. Also, now that I've had ADT for a few years, something could be better. They have it where the system can be linked to a video system. But ADT only works with their own proprietary system which is linked to Google and I'm not a fan of Google.

    I went with a system that allowed me to house all my information in-house. But when I called ADT to see if I could link the system up, they can't do anything because it's not a system they work with. I have the CO and fire monitors in the house and all of them have the Bluetooth emblem to it. I called ADT to see if I could connect it somehow to the system but that's not available either. I have a 91-year old mother who has dementia. If there's a CO leak somewhere in the house, I would like to be called so I could run home and check it out. It's 2024 and things like that should be readily available to be integrated. I wouldn't advise others to go to ADT unless they're just doing the home security.

I had them put my cameras in my house and everything was fine except for when we changed phone numbers that we had our cameras connected to our phones. We could never get that back on our phone. We have been trying to get in touch with the representative that put the cameras so he can come back and put the cameras back on our phone. But we are unable to contact anybody to do it.     It's been a couple of times my alarm went off but I didn't get a call from ADT. I wasn't happy when they didn't call me even though I was the one that entered my house. It could have been somebody else. I called them and asked why they didn't call me when I had a false alarm, but they didn't give a good reason. If I'm paying them $37 every month but they can't call me, then what am I paying you for? I also hope they don't go up on my bill because I have patronized them for 14 years. I normally go with the company that might be cheaper and at the same time, if something should happen, they will still contact me even if it's a false alarm.

    ADT is horrible. They sold me a product that they don't even support. The ADT technician who came out after they installed it originally stated, “They never should have sold you anything because your internet is not strong enough to even handle the system.” Instead of canceling out my account without charging me thousands of dollars, ADT would only give me a credit, but my products can't even be used. I've been waiting for my contract to end. I'm still paying 20 bucks a month for something after three years of contract that I can't use. I'm paying for an alarm panel, for the doors to alarm when they open. I have three cameras that are Ring cameras, but at the time that I purchased this product, ADT does not support Ring. They were no longer in an agreement with Ring. None of my cameras work because my internet signal is not strong enough. ADT's app doesn't even show me when batteries are low. Nothing updates.

    If they forget to give me my credit for a month, I call back. You can get ahold of somebody, but you gotta go through the whole story again. It's like they have no notes. Eventually, when they find the notes, they say they'll give you credit. But that credit never happens, so then you gotta call them back. I recommended ADT to my daughter. She got the system and her program was wonderful, but she moved out of state. She was selling her house but they still would not let her out of her contract without charging her thousands of dollars to finish out her contract, and they would not move the equipment for her.

    I had to put in new equipment because this house had another alarm system that wasn't working. The rep explained it and we went through the process of starting an account. We had to have a checking account and I gave him that information. Then the guys came in and put a brand-new panel on the wall and rewired the house. They also put those cameras in the ceiling and sensors around the doors. I also have the feature where if you come to my house and hit the doorbell, I can talk through my phone.

    Everything's been working fine and I'd definitely recommend ADT. When I go away, I put my code in. If I'm on my phone, I can see if anybody is up in my front door. I'm in Charlotte and even if I go to Maryland where my family is, I can look on my phone and make sure everything is okay. You can't be home every single day and if you're out, it's good to be able to look and see if anybody is at your door, or if they are at your door, you can talk to them through your phone. One time, I had an issue with my doorbell. It wasn't ringing. We had to call the tech office and they told us we have to take it out and recharge the battery. We got that cleared up.

    I've had problems with ADT in the last couple of years. I had one window sensor that constantly went haywire. They kept telling me they'd just reset it and it would work. Finally, it's gone out. Also, my system completely shut down on me last summer for four days when I had work done when I told them the power was gonna be off. They said the battery would work, but it didn't.

    The guy that I talked to this week, Jason, was very nice. But there are a lot of incompetent people answering the phone. One of them had me dismantle the whole box. Then one of the techs got on the phone and told me I didn't need to do it. They don't know what they're doing. My system is almost 12 years old and they were telling me, "It should look like this picture." But it doesn't because I have an older system.

    Doing everything on the phone with them is really hard and I don't know if I'd ever recommend them for anybody. The whole thing is a joke. They wired in some of these wires and zip tied them together. They were telling me I might have to cut the zip ties. But you can't even see them. They're so tight to the wires. How am I supposed to get under them to cut the zip ties off? That's a little dangerous because I'm gonna be cutting the wiring in this box if I have to cut them. I'm 73 years old and I have vision problems. I'm supposed to be able to read these things inside this little box. I told them I would drop the system and go to something else. The rep was telling me to try fixing it another way. It was like she didn't even listen to me.

    There's nobody even in town here that can do work. They have to bring them out of town to do work. I know COVID changed a lot of things. But there still should be customer service when they've got older people that can't see this system to work on this system. I'm gonna sell this house and the system will be shut down. The other people probably pick a different kind of alarm system, and I will too.

    I'm not happy with ADT at all. Recently, the control panel that's inside the house, I can't talk to anybody outside the house with the doorbell. The technician found out they're too close to the door. Another thing is that the video is only about two seconds. I need a video as long as someone’s at the door, and there's no way to adjust that. Sometimes, it’s not hooked up to it as well. The light is supposed to come on as soon as somebody steps on the porch, and it doesn't.

    I've not talked to anybody from ADT since they’ve been there and I got an email survey. The customer service is nonexistent, and the person that came wasn't very good at what he did. I need to somehow get the motion detector attached. It was not hooked up. If I need to buy a box of services from their company, it's way too expensive. For example, I can get a door lock online for 20 bucks and they charge me over 200 for that.

    We've had good luck with ADT. We had this house built in 1990 and we had it shortly after that. Then they changed the system out two years ago and fit in a newer type system. The only complaint that I have is when we first took it, we got these ADT metal signs which help. We live on a farm and we put them at two main gates. We've had people that wanna hunt out here and we keep them at these two main entrance coming into the property and end up by the house. But the signs are plastic now and it doesn't take a lot of sun and wind to destroy. They used to last for six years. But now, if you can get a year or two out of them, you're lucky. We had a bad windstorm here about a month ago and it broke two of them out of the three that we had. I've used the last one and we may not be able to get any more signs because we've already had our quota for this year.

    I have had this doorknob that is not working for well over a year. When I asked ADT to replace the doorknob, they told me, "Well, we can come out and look at it for $120 or so and then we can determine if anything we need to do." I told them, "All I can tell you is my doorknob doesn't work and if they're not gonna tell me they can fix it, then I'm not gonna pay you $120 to come out." When I bought the system, they told me I wouldn't have to pay a service charge. I would just have to pay for the hardware it took to fix it. So, that pissed me off and I don't really do business with them.     If I'm calling ADT and ordering something, they're great. But if I call back, they don't tell me everything. It's a lost communication between customer service and the techs. There was a miscommunication on what I was supposed to be charged. I was charged extra from what I was told. I thought we had a clear understanding with the rep when I talked to her but the price ended up being $100 more because we had to pay for the technician fee. But when I talked to the rep, the technician fee was included in because I had gotten a discount for a birthday thing. They applied that to the new door lock put in. When I called ADT to ask them about that, they gave me the runaround and told me it is what it is. I let it slide because I didn't have the energy to fight, but I wasn't pleased with that.

    I have access to my cameras on my phone, but half the time, that access isn't working. I have to reset and clear out the app more than three times. Then it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have to pull it up on my computer. I can pull up on my computer and look at my cameras, and they work fine. But if I try to do it on my phone, it says that something's wrong. It's a problem reconnecting.

    The ADT system does its job for the most part. We feel a sense of protection. But the cameras don't capture everything. I've had our home broken into twice since we've had the system. The first time, they kicked in the back door and were able to get a few things before the police got there. Then that was when I had the cameras installed. I had one camera outside and one camera inside. The second time that they did it, they didn't get in the camera view and the alarm had stopped. They came through a window and once the sensor recognized that it was motion, the alarm went off and it scared them out. We have not had any break-ins since then.

While on the phone with me, they walked me through how to punch the numbers into my system so it would start chirping again.     The call into ADT was pretty straightforward. I'm not necessarily really well-versed in the world of security and all that kind of stuff. I've done stuff online. I also did my own research. But the reason I went with them initially was because where I live, there needs to be a call out to what they call the central office in case there's a fire so that the authorities can get here as opposed to me just having some other solution. So, my interaction with the customer service side of it was good.

    The installation guy was friendly and knowledgeable. He was good. He did the work. He gave me the walkthrough and then he was on his way. So, it was good. The technology that they use to monitor things on the surface is fine, but then trying to reset or change something, the user experience is not really great. You have to dig into their support notes or call and wait for a long time for a human to answer. Also, ADT is expensive from a month-to-month perspective. I've never actually needed to test it but I'm glad I haven't. So, they've been reliable. But if there was a less expensive option that could provide me similar results, I would more than likely research it and potentially make a move.

I could see someone pull in but I don't see them leave. I was disappointed with that. The monitoring is a bit expensive as well. When I first signed up with them, a gentleman came in and he started negatively speaking about the options I chose. I asked him to leave because I felt very uncomfortable. It was almost like someone selling you a car then after you buy the car and go pick it up, they tell you all the negative things that this car has. I called ADT and threatened to cancel. They apologized and rescheduled.

    Now, I look back on it, and I feel bad because he was right. It was not the service that they claimed to be. When the installer came, he was drilling holes everywhere. Holes were drilled and plugs were used, and now I don't have access to those plugs because they hardwired some devices. The sales rep that came out was very nice and informative. He gave me a lot of bells and whistles. I thought I was gonna get a monitoring screen but when it came down to it, I didn't. Another thing that I am too crazy about is there are Wi-Fi extenders. The extenders have had to be replaced a few times.

    I'm sick of ADT. I pay them a lot of money and I'm not getting service. A month and a half of my back door sensor has not worked. I took a survey and left all this information on the survey. Still, no phone call. I even wonder if they even monitor their system. I called them a month and a half ago because I've had a door sensor out. They set up an appointment. The day of the appointment, they called to cancel. They never reached out to me. They never tried to fix the situation. They said their system was down, and it would be my responsibility to make another appointment. They didn't wanna come to my house. They wanted to do it over the phone. I don't like that. I'm 63 years old. I don't wanna play with my system that is supposed to be working.

    When ADT calls me, they would say I've been a loyal customer for five years. I've been a loyal customer for over 10 years because I had it in my previous home. When they first started, if I called them, they would have somebody out immediately. They took care of the service. Now, they wanna do everything on the phone. They want me to climb up on ladders, take the batteries out and check them.

    ADT is a great service. I would recommend people. When the cameras work, they show nicely. The alerts are nice when everything works correctly. Also, the pricing is affordable. ADT just has some internal things that need to be worked out. My mom used to be a customer of ADT years ago when I was younger, and when I bought my home, I said I wanted to have them. The installation when I first had it, was nice. But for the past almost two years, we haven't had access to our front doorbell camera or back camera. It doesn't work. I wish ADT could update some things. Not the cameras, because they work beautifully, but the main box in the home.

    Every time that I speak to customer service, everyone is always pleasant. Being in the customer service around myself and hearing words like "unfortunately" is agitating. Two years ago, we contacted them and they tried to troubleshoot it. That didn't work. They sent someone out but it never worked. We tried to get someone out here to go to the backyard, but that never happened, and they tried to tell us, “You can just troubleshoot this way.” They would troubleshoot us, and would say, “You gotta go to this other department for the troubleshooting and they'll walk you through it.” My husband and I gave up on it.

    On the initial setup, we assumed that they would hook it up to our doorbell. They said, “We don't do that.” So, we have this ADT system doorbell that is not hooked up to our doorbell line. If people pressed the button, we wouldn't know no one was outside. What was the point of me getting a doorbell thing? I could have just got a camera out here and called it a day. Do not have your card saved on file. ADT would charge you even when you told them not to. They would not give the money back. I got a new debit card, and it was still pulled from my bank. How they do that, I don't know.

    In 2020, I signed a contract with ADT but did not realize that I was signing off a five-year contract. But that was for the entire house, which was very useful considering the fact that I have a family. I experienced the service for eight months, and it was really good. The family felt safe. I was able to go away and come back and everything was fine. I had cameras as well.

    But right after COVID, I ended up divorced and I no longer live in that property. My ex-wife got rid of all the ADT cameras so I've been paying ADT for over four years with no service because of the wording that they have in their contract. I tried to call managers at ADT, but they refused to allow me to get out of the contract. I tried to do that within the last four years multiple times, but I kept getting denied. They should have at least given me the benefit of the doubt to get out of the contract. ADT has a very good system for a good price, but I will not recommend them because of the way their contract is worded. I'm finally gonna stop paying them in February 2025.

    I have ADT in my main residence then I added them in my second home. It's been good with them until my recent addition. Then it was horrible. The appointment installation time was 1:00, then it got moved to 3:00 then to 5:00. The installer finally showed up at seven o'clock at night. But he communicated with us and we told him that was alright because we needed it to be installed at that particular day. I appreciated the communication and he did a good job setting it up. But he did not have all the parts that were on our order, and that was what led to this separate order that has created a disaster.

    They have a billing error, and they had a terrible time understanding how to correct it. I spent 20 hours on the phone with them trying to resolve it but got 20 hours’ worth of runaround where nobody could help. Everybody I spoke to told me it as not their department and they couldn't fix it. I asked them where were the credits for all the charges that they've been charging me. They said, “You're not getting any more credits. We already did what we thought was right,” which I don't agree with because the charges were a certain dollar value, and the credit is not the same dollar value.

    They posted the one credit on my account rather than reimbursing my credit card. I asked them, “Who authorized you to do that? I didn't ask you to put the money on account.” They said that that's what they always do. I told them I wanted it on my credit card and I wanted them to reverse it back because I wanted see the same dollar amount that went out to come back in, but they couldn't comprehend that. It's still not corrected to my satisfaction. They're still currently charging me, and I have to call them again to try to get that money back now. ADT is terrible now. I told them the next step is gonna be for me to take them to small claims court if they cannot figure this out.

    ADT helps me with the price. If it's too high, they'll work with me. They'll look for a plan that will help or lower it for 12 months. I've been with them for 10 years and the reps are very nice. They are very willing to work with me to keep me. They always answer the call. We haven't had a false alarm at our new house, but at the other one, it went off all the time. We lived next to a train track. At 2:00 in the morning, it would go off on emergency. I'd say I did not push the button and I was asleep, but they always insisted on the policeman coming out and walking around the house. We were pleased with that. Where we lived, it was nice to have that there.

    I have a fire alarm as well. A man very nice came out and replaced the batteries for me. I couldn't get one back up and he placed them back up there. He went above what he was supposed to do. Any time I've had him at the house or on the phone, I've been very well pleased. When the power goes off for a long time, I've learned how to get the system back on when the power comes back. I thought it had a battery, but sometimes, it will continually blink until I fix it.

    I'm not that happy with ADT. They put a doorbell on that's the quietest doorbell. You can be standing next to it and you don't hear it. I was used to a different security system where I got notifications on my phone every minute. And I don't get any notifications with ADT. There's no link to the camera so I can see what's going on. I just don't like it. My other system tells you when anybody is anywhere near a camera and then you look and it's got the videos right there for you to see. This system is not like that. ADT doesn't even tell us. It's like we don't even have it. I've contacted them once and they told me to call some other company that takes care of their problems, which didn't make any sense to me. Then the techs came out once but I haven't had anyone that cared how I felt. The cost is comparable with the other systems but the quality isn't.

These scammers tell you what you want to hear not the important information you need. Even if you cancel your account you’re still stuck with for 2-3 years still paying them.     The pricing was a little confusing because the sales rep told us that it was gonna be free. But once the people came, they told us we had to pay $1,000 for installation. It felt like some last-minute piece of work added, and I didn't like that part. I'm also not very satisfied with the system but I keep it 'cause my wife feels comfortable with it. It's very expensive. We pay $75 a month and we're still responsible for a lot of the stuff. The instructions are there but they don't make sense to me. I'm not an expert on handling the machines or making sure that they're running properly. ADT doesn't provide a lot of the services that I thought we were gonna get. The equipment keeps breaking down. There were two times where the alarm went off. When we first got ADT, we would get a call making sure everything is okay. But they stopped calling. It feels like they've stopped monitoring us.

    ADT is not working that good anymore. A lot of the times, it freezes up. In the kitchen area, it won't show a lot on some of the areas. In the house, I have to keep punching in and trying to go live. When I try to go live, it's still not showing the way it was when I first got it. I had the guy's name that set it up. He was amazing. He gave me the number to call him, but I couldn't remember the number. Once you get hooked up, ADT could at least call back to see how things are working. I haven't got a call back or been asked how my system has been working since it's been set up.

    In all the years that I've had ADT, I never had any issues. But within the last year, I had a negative experience, which surprised me because I've been a loyal customer for 30 years at least with all the companies before it was ADT. I have a security system that ADT installed and monitor. A few months ago, I had a problem with one of the sensors. I am a little disappointed and I'm still in limbo with that problem.

    One of the sensors which happens to be a basement window sensor was malfunctioning. It gave me the alert that it was not functioning. I tried to fix it but I'm not very good with technology so I called ADT. After a great deal of runaround, I got someone that I could barely understand. They were less than helpful because they try to get me to fix it myself. I told the rep that I would like to have a technician come out and take a look because I live alone, I'm gone most of the day and I need security. She told me she'd have a technician call me.

    I had to call a technician and the technician called back a few hours later, trying to fix the problem remotely. I said, “I've gone through this runaround. I need someone to come and fix it because if I could fix it myself, I won't be calling you.” He said, “If you want someone to come out, there's a charge for it.” I was a little disappointed to hear that. I pay 60 bucks every month, and I've been paying for years. The rates have been going up, but I've never had any issues where they had to spend money on me beyond that. But they could not send someone and that'd be included part of the service.

    Finally, they scheduled something, and the guy gave me a four-hour window. I had to take half a day to wait for him to come here. He came finally and looked at it. He told me it was the batteries and that he fixed it. The very next day, the control panel showed that the same sensor was malfunctioning so it wasn't the battery. I called back again, trying to get some help, and I got the runaround. Finally, I just gave up. It’s taking far too much time. I'm very disappointed with the service, including the customer service. ADT is not providing the service that I'm paying them to provide. Right now, I don't have a fully armed house and I'm constantly worrying about my security.

    ADT came and upgraded the system that I've had since 1998. The rep explained everything to me and showed me how to do it. He told me what I needed to do to hook it to my phone so I can set my alarm. If I forget, I could set it with my phone. Before I come in the house, I can disarm it too. But I asked for the thing I could punch to come in and I never got a response to that. The one I have is broken so it's not on my keychain anymore. I have to remember to put it in my pocket and make sure I don't lose it.

    I'm also a little confused because I make two payments. I'm trying to see if I am paying for equipment and the service. But other than those, I'm satisfied with the services. When the technicians come out, they're very professional. The system works very well and it covers all my doors. When the door is open or something's going on, it'll talk to me. However, it's real sensitive with the glass break. I dropped my cane on the floor by the glass break sensor, and it went off. My system showed glass break, but it wasn't. I just dropped something. But I'd rather it be sensitive than not be.

    ADT's customer service is great. I just had this one problem that happened two times. It happened this year back in September, and it also happened several years ago. I spoke with a customer service rep, and they wanted a payment. I'm behind because I had been sick. I told them, “Sir, I'm gonna call you back the day that I get paid. Right now I'm trying to pay my mortgage and my utility bills.” He kept on saying how much the amount was due, and they went in my account and took my money, and my mortgage was short. I told them, “From now on, do not do that. Please don't do that. And that's the second time this has happened."

    I told them what date I was getting paid. I said, “But I would have to call you back because I will only have my mortgage. If I have anything else, I will call you back on that day and make some arrangements for that payment.” They went in and took the money anyway. When it happened some years ago, I don't know how they went in there and took it, but this time, they took it anyway. I told them I would be trying to pay my mortgage. That threw me behind. If I don't have a house to protect, there's no need for me to have ADT. They have been patient for years, but this particular person set up some way and went into my account, and it threw a lot of things off because when you're $30 short and something has went through, that is a lot of money when you don't have money. And if your checking account bounced, you're in trouble.

    As far as the system, it's good. The display has that orange triangle on it. We never could figure that out. We troubleshooted it. I talked to someone over the phone, and it's been on there a month now. I don't know what I could do about that. Also, the back of my little key chain keeps falling out. Over the years, the product will wear and tear like anything but it is okay. ADT's price is good. I can afford it when I could afford it, but it's still not outrageous.

    We had an ADT system in a previous home before we moved to this one. The setup was fine. Once we agreed to all the details, they sent their technicians out and they knew what to do. They took care of everything. Previously, they offered us the right package but now that we've been with them for a couple of years, and I wanna make adjustments, the customer service has not been helpful with that.

    An alarm went off and ADT took some time. Thankfully, they were false alarms. We were out of town for the weekend and we had our in-laws watching the home and they accidentally set off the alarm. It must have been going off for a couple of minutes before they gave us a call and said, "Hey, can you turn it off?" To my knowledge, nobody ever showed up or called for that alarm. So, that was worrisome. That was a concern that I had called them about.

    We had it at our first time and we loved it. It was great. The couple of times that it went off, we had law enforcement and ADT had called us but this second time around, we're not having the greatest experience. It's still serving its purpose, but trying to get support for after installation when we have issues hasn't been great. Monitoring the home is very convenient through the app. We also have cameras through the app and we're having issues with them. They don't work a lot of times and customer service refuses to help resolve an issue.

    ADT does not work the way I want it to. So, it's just a waste of money. The system is just getting notifications from a neighbor who is far away. And when I look at the history, it does not have that. It just gets deleted. I should at least have a history for 30 days if I need to go back. Probably, it's good to just monitor yourself with Blink or others, which gives a better price and what I want. ADT’s price is quite high compared to other places. I was just about to call them and see what the cancellation policy is. I'm screwed for a certain period to cancel. I'm not happy at all and I'm not liking it.     I cannot begin to express how frustrating and disappointing my experience with ADT Security has been. I’ve wasted hours on the phone with customer service and had to deal with nothing but delays, poor communication, and a complete lack of professionalism. First, ADT insisted on a video call to troubleshoot an issue with my alarm system, despite my repeated requests for a technician to come to the property directly. The video call was completely unnecessary and a waste of time.

    Next, my initial appointment was completely missed. I called customer service, and they admitted they didn’t even schedule it properly. When I followed up to reschedule, I was quoted $100 to fix the issue, only to find out later that the price had mysteriously jumped to over $200 because “someone forgot to schedule the service.” What a complete lack of organization.

    Finally, when a technician did arrive, he didn’t even have the correct parts needed to fix the alarm. To make matters worse, it was evident that he didn’t want to be there and seemed completely disinterested in helping. After that, I had to call customer service again to sort things out and waste even more time. Months later and my security system still isn’t working properly. This experience was nothing short of a nightmare. The constant delays, poor communication, and unprofessional behavior from both customer service and technicians have made me completely lose confidence in ADT. I would not recommend them to anyone for their security needs. Save yourself the hassle and look elsewhere.

    My worst nightmare purchasing the system. ADT is a complete scam. I purchased my home and they came in to convince me I need this. They about the installation date. The installation was poorly done so someone else had to come behind the 1st tech. On 11/09/24 a gun was placed at my head and my cameras were not even rolling. My doorbell camera hasn't worked in over a year. This company is a complete scam. I have had the worst experience speaking with these customer service reps. It's been a total nightmare. I would not recommend them to No one ever.

    I hate ADT. I pay $35 for no service because the system doesn't work. I can't put my alarm on, and they want me to walk through and troubleshoot, but that's not how I wanna do my alarm. I'd like for somebody who's qualified to come and fix my alarm. That's a big deal for me. I'm gonna look and see what my contract is because I'm gonna think about leaving and going to somebody else.

    I've had ADT’s services since 1992, and I recommend people to use it. From time to time, I've even rolled small memos about how reliable their service is. I'm safe, and for that, I feel comfortable with it. It's just I wish there were more offers out there like there are in Chicago. Where I live at in Nevada, the offers are not as much, like the doorbell. I'm also on a five-year contract, and I have never been on a five-year contract in my life. That was just too much. There are some things that I would’ve liked to add, but I gotta get out of this five-year contract. I don't like being on it.

    The quality of the system features are really nice. I like them too, but I'm so limited. I miss so much of the service that I have utilized in the past with ADT as far as the cameras and the doorbell cameras. I had cameras outside of my home, but here, none of those services has been offered to me. I love ADT’s service, but I feel like I'm in the prehistoric days. I only have the monitor box and the motion sensors. Also, I'm able to unlock my doors with the keypad, but that's it.

    We've been with ADT since we purchased our home. There was a sticker already inside the home from the previous owner, so we just went with that. It was easy to reach a sales rep and currently, I'm pleased with what we have. However, the unit has been in there since we had the house 13 years ago and it may not be adaptable to operate by phone, but if that's a feature I could have, that would be good since we do travel. It would also be great if ADT could offer their long-time customers who are getting into their senior years some type of incentive or discount knowing that their income has changed, rather than them having to do the leg work. I'm a senior citizen now and I'm on Social Security.

    When I first got with ADT, paying what the prices are, it's what it was and I never thought about being older and being on limited income. I worked with a representative, and eventually, they lowered the pricing because I would have to look for someone else. I’m appreciative that they did it. It’s just I had to initiate that conversation and then told them my side of, “Hey, I appreciate being a long time customer, but I'm having the same conversation with alternative vendors who are willing to at least give me something, given my situation.” Other than that, the reps were very professional and helpful.

    I had ADT at the other house that we were at, then I moved and there was a Brinks system already in the house. I put ADT in, and it was good. I've had it for about 15 years and I like that I can just turn on the security and someone's doing the monitoring. However, I'm not happy about the billing. They keep changing it and it's infuriating me. The price used to be 19.99, then that went up to 31.99. I asked, "Can I just cancel?" The rep said, "No." I didn't realize I'm in a contract for two years and it would cost me $700 to cancel. I don't use the system that much. That's why the 19.99 was doable. Other than that, the system is better than the other ones I have. I have two other cameras outside that aren't ADT.

    I've had ADT for over eight years, three years at my home and seven years at my business, but if there was another company I can go to, I will go to them. I'm currently not happy with my service with them. This is why I considered moving to Vivint, but I had a whole issue with them, which was a nightmare. I ended up staying with ADT, and they reinstalled everything, but I keep getting alerts that things are not working. As of now, my back door is unarmed. So, I have to put a prop behind it. I'm a single woman. I can't have my door unprotected, especially the back door. There's also a noise that's coming from my carbon monoxide detectors. The ADT guy couldn't figure out what it was because there's no alert on the dash that's signaling something's wrong with the device. However, something’s completely wrong, because every 30 minutes, it chimes. It’s frustrating.

Initially, the rep and I talked about my options, figured out what I needed to do, how to pay, and when I needed to get installed. The installer showed up within the week, put it all together, and we were done. It was simple. The installer asked me where I wanted things, did the check, and went from there. When I got the system, the guy who came out only installed the doorknob. Right now, I have a doorbell that doesn't work. When I reached out to ADT, because it was a third-party situation, they claimed they couldn't do anything about it. At the same time, I feel like it's still their product. Overall, I don’t like ADT.     It's easy enough to either arm or disarm the ADT system, whether we're home or going away. We appreciate the peace of mind that comes from knowing we have an alarm on our home if we're away. I also have the app, so I can arm or disarm it on my phone, which is handy, and I like it. However, our alarm has gone off a couple of times. It was a false alarm, but we didn't get a phone call checking on the situation and there was no police response as well. On the doorbell, sometimes it seems to pick up people, other times it does not. It also seems to take a long time for video clips to show up after there's been somebody at our front door.

    Another thing is our monthly bill was climbing every year to the point where it was almost double what we started paying. We have friends who live nearby who have the same system and they were paying about half of what we were paying. I called ADT to try and get the same deal and they said, "We don't know what program your friend has, so we can't compare it." But we knew we have identical equipment and about the same number of windows and doors being protected in the same neighborhood. We shouldn't have to pay two times what they're paying for the same service. After several minutes of haggling, we got the bill reduced by about half.

    I have a landline and it went off. The ADT system is hooked into the landline. A man came out and he was very qualified, but it cost me quite a few hundred dollars to have him fix it. I've been an ADT customer since 1947 and I'm paying an awful lot of money for the services. With the prices I'm paying, ADT should send me a radio line and not charge me extra for it.
