    I used to live in Jersey City and saw an ADT sign at another house. I thought I should try it, so I called them.

    I’ve had ADT in all my homes and apartments, and I’ve been very happy with their service. At the time I first selected them many years ago, they were one of the top companies. I feel very secure with them. The price, like everything else, is going up. That’s always a concern, but I still would use them.

    Their customer service is excellent. I had a power shortage a few weeks ago and it knocked out my Wi-Fi. A very nice young lady spent a lot of time with me on the phone till we got it straightened out. She was just wonderful.

    Buyer beware! Customer service is poor and plan on spending hours if you want to cancel. Was transferred multiple times giving all the info again to be told wrong dept, hung up on, never get the call back if you choose for a callback instead of holding. Charging for service you aren't even using. Poor poor customer service and forget about getting a supervisor... they are never there or available!

    Stay as far away from this company as possible. I was told I had a 2 year agreement and not just a 3 year. I don’t need service but now I am locked into a contract. My system has not been turned on in over a year. I Hate this company and I wish it would fail and go out of business.

    I was with ADT for over 4 years. I tried to cancel my services due to a relocation of my family. I had the worst experience trying to cancel the service, they kept me going from one manager to another in the phone from over 2 hours, never again will use their services.

    If I could give zero stars, I would. Despite my relocation contract, ADT refused to disconnect services at the house I sold. The sweet lady who bought my old house had fire trucks pulling up every time the smoke alarms went off and was afraid to even cook Thanksgiving dinner. I spent 50+ hours on hold, being transferred, re-explaining my situation to every new person, and getting a lot of promises of resolution (in 48 hours), but no delivery. They mistakenly kept both addresses (old and new) tied to my account, so I stopped paying. Surely if they weren't getting paid, they would disconnect all services, right? Wrong. They sent me to collections, but service remained on at both locations. 😂 The buyer of my house and I each had to bring an electrician in to disconnect and trash everything. With 50+ hours of experience with ADT customer service, I am qualified to rate them the worst I've ever seen.

    I have installed ADT+ which was supposed to be latest in tech - it doesn't do voice announcements (it's a simple Chime that we get). Also got Google Nest camera system, which is expensive that doesn't even do voice alerts on Google Hub. When requesting for cancelling within 15 days, I got locked into contract which asks me to pay whole amount for 3 years.

    This is the worst company I have ever dealt with! Their service is terrible, the installers are unprofessional, and the sales reps are misleading. I tried to cancel within the three-day period, but they convinced me to wait, saying they would send someone to fix the issues. It's now been a month and a half, and I still can’t use the system. The cameras constantly go offline, and every time I call, they promise a technician will come—but they either cancel, don’t show up, or arrive unprepared. I’ve been given excuse after excuse: "Our system is down," "We don’t have the parts," and more. Even after multiple failed repair attempts, they still refuse to let me cancel. This company used to be good, but now they are the WORST. Do NOT use them, and do NOT let them touch your home!

    A friend was getting a low battery message, told to order motion detector battery. They installed it, more messages started appearing. After hours, I was there, and several days, and removing equipment ADT said was broken, after being told to pay for a new motion detector, problem was a battery in the panel!!! Original motion detector works fine, but ADT will NOT take new one back!! Terrible customer support - they just read a script over and over! None of them really knew the system, fave contradictory instructions. I was shocked at the incompetence! So, almost $100 and days later, system not back to original state. Instead of being able to use the remote, as before, now have to punch in a series of numbers to arm and disarm. As an IT manager, I am a just appalled at the very poor, and needlessly expensive, support from ADT.

    This Company is full of lies and misinformation, They mislead you from the Contract period and they staff lies from the service technicians to the online staff. Last week I was told a service charge will be removed then this week the billing department staff agreed to give a credit when I ask for a supervisor or manager. Then she said she can’t give the credit if I’m canceling my account. But before that she said the charges was because I cancelled my automatic payment for the equipment, I had to inform her my equipment were paid in full and she need to review the account properly. Up to now I never get to speak with a supervisor or manager.

    Worst customer service. They made a mistake and refuse to rectify the situation. If you can choose any other security service. They charged me back in January for equipment and now are saying it wasn’t the correct amount, yet that was the amount told to me by a representative. They have charged me my normal monthly fee since then. They then attempted to charge my account almost $3k and said well you can dispute it with your bank, but we can’t reverse it because you owe $396 on your equipment payments.

    I've had ADT for years. I left them and then I came back for the better service. The price is a little high, but it's good service and the system is easy to use too. Everything works, including the alarm and smoke detectors. When something doesn't work, they send me a new one and walk me through it, and we're up and running again. One time, we were cooking and the smoke detectors went off loudly.

    I got the new system and it's got a lot of stuff on it, but I don't understand it. If somebody's breaking in, I want to be able to just push the button. With my old system, I could push two buttons and immediately, I had somebody. I also didn't understand why the system would be out. My landline system was down (the whole area was down). Why would my system show Wi-Fi down? Is it hooked up to Wi-Fi?

    I didn't ask for help, and I don't have any problem with the system. I just turn it on or off. I don't know anything else about it and I should know more. I assume I'm supposed to read the book myself and figure it out. Other than that, I wouldn't be without the system. ADT's service has been excellent. I was disappointed that after 35 years, they didn't replace my system for free. They couldn't even get parts for my system. So, they should have replaced it for free.

    My mother is older and home alone most of the day, so ADT gives her an easier way to contact the authorities if something happens. The representatives were great. He was very detailed and explained everything to my mom. He didn’t try to sell mom anything unnecessary. My mom said he was very efficient with his work and really liked him. I’m trying to remember his name, but mom told me she loved him.

    The functionality is really good right now. At first, we thought something was wrong with the system, but it was us not speaking clearly into the Nest. Other than that, everything’s going well so far. I like how simple it is. If I forget to set it before leaving home, we can use the app to adjust it.

    We feel very secure with it. When we leave home, we don’t worry about whether the system will notify the authorities or us in time. Since we live in a rural area, it’s reassuring to know the authorities will be notified quickly with this system.

    I’ve been with ADT for over 20 years, maybe even close to 30. I’ve moved twice during that time, so the system looks different now. At the first place, it was something you just plugged in, and I think it hooked to your phone. When I moved again, I was having a house built, so the system was hardwired.

    ADT came in and did all the wiring while the house was being built. This time around, the house was already built, so it’s back to just plugging it into the wall and using Wi‑Fi. The representatives have been great. They’re always friendly and helpful.

    My husband passed away, so I needed ADT. It hasn’t been a month since I had it installed. I called them about the smoke detectors and things that I got in the house are just low battery. Every one of them is chirping. And I ain't even had them two weeks. I have to pay somebody to come out here to stop these things from beeping.

    I called yesterday and they said that I'd be on hold for 60 minutes. They should have somebody to answer the phone call and not wait 60 minutes.

    The installer was nice. He was here for several hours, but he did well. He gave me his phone number to call if I had a problem. I'm gonna call him today.

    But I do have a problem with ADT. My husband had ADT at my daughter's house right down the street from me. And I wanted them to cut it off down there and bring it to my house. In the process, I had to pay over $1,000 down there and they still have not cut that off down at that house. They said it would take 30 days to cut that off.

    When I had this installed, I paid $808.20, $43.01, and $71.34 to have my security turned on. And now, for this month on the 19th, I have to pay 808.20 on the 19th, and then I have to pay it next month and I have my equipment paid off. That's a bit much for equipment when I already had it installed at another place. I'll pay it because I've had a deal with ADT. Their rep, Karson, was good, nice, very friendly, and knew his business. He knew what he was doing. I'd recommend him.

    God forbid you move and call to cancel. If you can actually get someone to say they cancelled it, it still will never get cancelled. There is no hope with this company. I've tried to cancel mine 5 times in the past few years and my mom's in assisted living for 2 months yet they still bill and say they cancel and never do.

    I use ADT in two homes. I had them many years ago and they were fine. I’m an IT and I ended up working for another security systems company. I understand the internals of how the overall systems work. I don't think I could have picked that company in Las Vegas because, after working for them, I knew their systems better. So ADT was the only choice I could make. Then, I used them again in my California home.

    The salespeople were not so good. They say they will do something, and then it falls through. They said they will get back to me and they didn’t. That's happened a couple of times. And I was waiting for the last year and recently this year's proposals to extend my system. And this is the case in the representative in Vegas. There was no follow-through back and I still don't have the increased security I was thinking about doing. It's not that critical, but I make a note of that. She told me to go through her and everything will be done better and quicker. But I have found that would not be the case.

    I got the ADT system and the installers were very nice. They answered questions that I had and I was very satisfied with my experience dealing with them. I’ve only had to call them on a few occasions when I was having trouble with my medical alert pendant. We talked that through over the telephone and they were able to help me out.

    The installation was a good experience. They knew what they were talking about and they explained it to me in depth. I was able to understand what they were saying and therefore, it made it easier for me.

    I’ve suggested and recommended people to ADT in the past. If they were looking for something, I would tell them that they should check out ADT because they’re a very good company. Their rates are very competitive too and monitoring the system is very easy. It’s a very simple installation, simple equipment and easy to follow. It’s less complicated, which means it’s less apt to run into problems.

    ADT features meet my expectations, but I’ve been having some issues with my system so I’m not 100% satisfied. The garage motion sensor keeps setting off the alarm and it keeps saying low battery. It’s a specialty battery and I can’t find it. ADT told me how to reset it. I should press the button 15 seconds, hold it down, and it should reset itself. So, I did that. It’s a hassle. Then my front doorbell camera’s battery went dead in five days. I had to figure that out and remember what he told me how to take it off and charge it up. So, I got that back going.

    I work 12 hours a day and I don’t have time to fool with this mess when it goes down. I didn’t even pay my first bill yet, so I wasn’t expecting to have problems yet. So, that’s why I’m frustrated with ADT. I keep getting these things saying I’m offline, they’re not monitored right now.

    When I’ve been having all these issues, they said they’re gonna get a technician to talk to me and see what’s going on. When the technician finally called me, we got disconnected as she was starting to run these tests. Then I started getting these calls from ADT saying that the burglar alarm is going off. I had the technician on hold and answered the call. Once I did that, we all got disconnected, and she never called me back. So the situation just never got resolved.

    Police have been out here. The system went off one day with the garage and it was just a fluke. About 10 minutes later, it went off. When the police came, they said my front door was unlocked. I never unlocked my front door, so I don’t know if I made a mistake. They cleared the house but there was nobody in here. I kept getting all these alerts and then I get scared. I left work twice to come. I looked on my camera and I could see the police leaving out the house.

    Weird things were happening around the property where people were coming in, sleeping next to the trees and camping. My girlfriend also found people leaving stuff on her property. She bought some low grade cameras and wanted me to set them up. I was about to when I got the email about the ADT system.

    The system is great. But when we had those cold snaps after we got the system, the battery only lasted for a couple weeks and we were charging it almost every three days. Sometimes the camera doesn’t catch when people come on the property. It goes into its sleep cycle so it doesn’t waste the battery.

    The Google Nest system they hooked us up with is really nice. The cameras are good. They’re not the highest resolution, but they’re high enough that we can tell details. When the tech came, he asked us what we were thinking. We talked about the camera angles and how many cameras we wanted to make sure everything was covered. It was just all-around a really good experience. I love the online tools too. In terms of customer service, there’s still some waiting, but it’s not like you have to jump through hoops. You can just get a operator fairly easy.

    ADT is a Scam – Stay Far Away! ADT is nothing more than a corporate scam operation disguised as a home security company. Their business model is built on deception, sneaky contracts, and fraudulent billing practices. If you value your money and sanity, do NOT sign up with ADT! Despite switching to self-monitoring, which should be FREE, ADT continued to bill me without my consent. When I tried to resolve it, I was met with useless customer service reps who did nothing but give me the runaround. And when I refused to pay for services I never agreed to, they threatened to send me to collections—for a measly $19.99! That’s how desperate they are to squeeze money out of customers.

    This company traps people in predatory contracts filled with hidden fees, auto-renewals, and shady fine print. They make cancelling as difficult as possible, and even when you think you’re done with them, they find a way to keep charging you. ADT does NOT care about your security—they care about locking you into endless payments and scaring you into submission. There are far better and more honest security options out there. Avoid ADT at all costs!

    ADT is a well-known company but I researched several different systems. In the end, I decided that I liked the idea that ADT would come in, do the installation and they have monitoring. I was literally going line by line with the person I spoke with when I was making a decision in terms of what the other option was versus ADT. We talked about different benefits, what it was gonna cost me and also some of the equipment that was gonna be installed.

    It turns out when the installer got here, there was some challenge with the equipment that needed to go in and the cost of that equipment. Not to the point where I felt like it was a bait and switch, though there was a little part of me that thought maybe there was. I was a little unhappy with the difference between what the sales person told me versus what was said to me by the installer. The installer gave me multiple options saying since it was not I expected, we didn’t have to do it. I did not want to make a decision on the spot but I felt like I ended up doing it anyway.

    The sales told me there was something called the base unit. But I didn’t want it and I just wanted the pad. It was several hundred dollars for the base unit. When I was figuring out all my cost, I took the base unit out. He said that it will be on my paperwork but when the installer gets here, he’s not gonna install it. It all made sense to me. When the installer came, he told me I couldn’t install the system without the base unit. I’m really happy to have the base unit now but that left not a great taste in my mouth.

    I like everything about the system. I’m 67 years old and I don’t want to be addicted to my phone but I use ADT through my phone a lot and that is a super convenience. I can arm the system and leave the house. If my hands are full, I don’t have to worry about getting out of the door in a certain period of time. And I can disarm my system when I pull into my driveway, and again, not have to worry about getting in the house with my hands full and running and turning off my alarm.

    We had a very disappointing experience with ADT. Their equipment started malfunctioning almost immediately after installation, which defeated the purpose of having a security system in the first place. When we reached out for support, the customer service was subpar—slow responses, lack of helpful solutions, and overall poor communication. To make matters worse, even after canceling our service due to these ongoing issues, we were still required to pay for all of the equipment. We expected better from a company that claims to provide peace of mind. Unfortunately, our experience was anything but that. We would not recommend ADT based on our experience.

    I've had ADT forever. When I just wanted the security, I heard ADT was the best, and they had been around for a long time. So I just went with them. I always had a good experience with them as far as monitoring and everything.

    The team was informative about what they were doing. They knew their stuff, and they were able to answer any questions that I had without a problem. So they were well-mannered and polite.

    I feel really safe with it. Usually, going in or coming out, we get the lawn set. And my son forgets it's set, and he'll go out.

    If he doesn't have time to put the code in a certain length of time, they'll call you and let you know that the system's going off. But someone entered the code correctly, so they didn't have a need to involve emergency services or the police department.

    Well, I did have one co-worker who had asked me about the service and how it was. And I did tell them that it was a good service, and they were pretty much on point. If your alarm is going off, they will let you know.

    I like that it can be scheduled for nighttime. We use that pretty much all the time. I think they recommend you use the stay feature when you're at home during the daytime. But we use the night feature.

    The online tool is cool, and its price is pretty reasonable. I have two panels, one upstairs and downstairs, and I have a camera outside and a sensor. So my bill is about 70-something.

    I did have to order some batteries, and the representative that I talked to seemed okay. The only problem I had was trying to get the battery in the unit. I had to watch a YouTube video for a tutorial.

    But I was struggling with it because there was a little part in there that wasn't in the video, and I wasn't sure how to get it out because I didn't want to break it.

    The battery is also a struggle to put in the security box on the wall. It's so tight to the ceiling for the sensors, and I can't get to it to put the battery in there. I need them to come and put it in. Other than that, it’s good.

    My wife suggested getting ADT, so I went online and found out about it. And then I end up ordering it. The technician came and installed the device. It was a little tedious because he had to get everything set up. It took about five hours. But besides that, everything else was fine. Once they were done, he walked me through everything.

    I like it because I had a generic security system. And it'll pick up people, and sometimes it wouldn't. But ADT picks up everything–animals, people, cars, and the winds. The guy who hooked it up could have been a little bit better as far as professionalism. I've been in customer service my whole life. He could have been more professional in the way he was dressed.

    I was also misled about the price because they told me it was gonna be $14 a month. And then all of a sudden, the guy told me something different. It's $80. That's a big difference but I couldn't get a confirmation of who was right. I talked to them. Not only did they put in the order, but they also upsell. They need to have more clarity and provide more information. I wasn’t expecting to pay this much for it. Because right now, I'm on the budget.

    The app is very easy to use. Just hit the button or touch the app. I played with it while I was trying to pay. It's simple and self-explanatory. Overall I'm satisfied with ADT.

    My house is about 16 years old. Apparently, when they built this new house, there's already wire throughout the house for windows and door sensors. The system belonged to a company called Bulldog but later was bought by ADT. So the salesperson said it can be easily converted to ADT. She just give me a list of downside of another company and ADT is much more superior. It was at 9:00 p.m. and I was tired so I got stuck with ADT for two years. But definitely, once it's up, I'm not gonna use it. I have it for one year now and nobody came over once the sales was done. There's only one after installation visit.

    They installed an additional door sensor on my garage door because it was not properly installed. And they did some other adjustments. It's working afterward. What I learned after living here the first three months is that there are so many people who knock on the door throughout the day because it’s not a gated community.

    My parents have ADT so I got their service too. Back when I was a kid, we were on a vacation in two states over and our alarm just started going off, and they called us about it and sent out the police department to make sure everything was okay with the house.

    Now their service has definitely changed from being a little more sophisticated to being really easy to use. You don't have to drill holes in your wall now to mount it.     I just bought this house the year before last, and the lady who owned it before me had ADT. She hadn't used it for quite a while, so ADT had to make some modifications and had to update it. We added some sensors to some of the windows.

    The guy who did the installation was unsure of himself. And just a couple of months later, I didn't even have the system on, but it woke me up with a warning in the middle of the night. At first, I thought it was on. It turns out, it was just a warning that the system had been compromised.

    I figured out what had happened. The sensor on one of the windows had literally just fallen off onto the floor. And so, when I called them about that and expected them to come out. But they sent me a piece of double-sided tape and told me to fix it.

    That's not good customer service in my mind, especially for something as brand-new as that. I'm not dissatisfied with the system at all. As a matter of fact, I'm going to change the Wyze video doorbell that doesn't work properly.

    Another complaint about ADT is that it's really hard to get ahold of somebody to get something done. It's easy to find someone to fix it and pay. But I wanted to make an appointment for somebody from them to come out and install that doorbell and another camera on the side of my house. I still want to get it done, even at that.

    I'm happy with ADT. Although I have to say I typically don't even turn it on. Because I'm home all the time, and I don't worry about it.

    I've only tested it once, really, and I should do it more. I do travel a lot because I'm retired. I take trips that I call my wandering eye. So I typically don't have a destination. I just pick a direction and go. I may be gone anywhere from a week to three weeks at a time.

    ADT has some of the best and most consistent products. The salesperson was very engaging, telling me all of the things. I told him what I wanted, and he gave me a price. When the gentleman came to install it, it was two different things, so I didn't like the confusion, the pricing, and I felt I was misled. To be more specific, I needed seven sensors for the window. I understand the package came with three that included the door. So, essentially, that was two sensors for the door and one for the window. I have 11 windows, 7 of which needed sensors, and I was still able to get the six sensors, have the two doors, the back door and front door camera, which was initially promised and part of the agreement. But then the installer shows up and he tells me what he has, and it’s what I'm supposed to get for $65 a month. I told him no ‘cause it’s not what I agreed to. But he was able to work between me and the manager, who he called, to get what I needed without the price being extremely elevated. So, that part worked out. He was good, very personable, helpful, and he told me to reach out and give him a call if I had any problems. He was fantastic. Overall, the system seems to be fine. I keep getting calls at least every three days saying that there's a disconnect between my system and my internet. I have to figure out if it’s my internet, or if there may be a glitch in the ADT system. But it hasn’t been a real big problem yet and I like the camera ‘cause I’ve never had the camera before.

He called ADT, said they would give me two months free if I paid $98 upfront. At that time, I didn't have the money on me because I didn't know I was gonna have to pay right then and there, but I managed to put it on a card, though, I haven't gotten anything saying I got the two months free. I didn't know that it only came with my doorbell and one camera in the front. She told me that it came with two cameras, the doorbell and the sensors on my doors and window. So, when I requested to have another camera put in the back of my house, the price went up on me, but I just went on ahead ‘cause I needed that camera in my backyard.     I’ve been hearing about ADT my entire life, so I just figured that I would go with them. I like the fact that with my system I have the ability to look outside my house and I can see what’s going on. The only thing that I did complain about and I do not like is if I lose power, then I have no more security protection. I love the service, but we are always losing power down here.

    When I called ADT the first time to complain about that, they said I can go down to the store and I could purchase something else.     Another thing is I have to recharge my camera for the doorbell system. I have another camera attached to the top of my home that I don't have to recharge. When we’re having some problems with the motion detector in the living room, they called. They told us they noticed motion in the living room, but it was just going off on its own. They came out and changed it for us. The one thing that we’re struggling with is that their price went up fairly significantly. We went up from $40 a month to almost $55 a month. That increased was not discussed with us.

When I made the call to see if I could get someone out to start the system back up, they came out and said I had to buy all-new equipment to and it was going to be hundreds and hundreds of dollars. My wife called me about 10 minutes ago. That's the first time we've ever had this issue. So I'm not very happy right now. I need to call ADT customer service when I get home.

    We've used ADT before but we moved every five years. This last install was not the best. It started with the first correspondence regarding the quote and the pricing. We were quoted on the phone. I was quoted $49 a month and I said I don't have that anywhere in writing. And he said that when they come out and do the installation, they will give me that price. As soon as the fellow walked through the door, it was $59. He said they don’t do it for $49. And that's on a pre-recorded line so we're gonna follow up with that.

    During the installation, he stayed here quite a while. He hooked up the doorbell, but never tested it. He left without the doorbell working. I fixed that a few days ago by myself. But the Google Nest worked. We have a door in the bedroom that goes outside. And on a windy day, the alarm was going on and off and we were out of town when it happened. So we just shut off the alarm.

    And when I called them to have them fix it, they gave me instructions on how to fix it myself. I had to move the two components a little closer and get some two-sided tape. We're spending a few thousand dollars on this contract and they're telling me I got to get up there and fine-tune things. I'm not sure why the repairman couldn't just come out and check it. When something's not working after a week or two, they should come out and fix it.

    The issues shouldn't have happened because we haven't had that experience before. We were very happy with the two times we used it before. But this last time, we weren't.

    We’re a military family and have had ADT since we’re in Birmingham. I’ve been with them forever because I’m with USAA and they give me a little discount.     I had ADT first for a prior house because my wife was alone during the day and she got sick. When I moved, what made me stay with ADT was the monitoring. Other systems don't seem to be monitored as well as ADT. I like the recommendations of their installers than their salespeople. An installer talked me out of getting a certain type of camera because the maintenance was not good, and it ended up the recommended camera was clear and more reliable. Another recommended that I didn’t need to buy as many sensing devices. I think that was a good recommendation.

    Their system works, and that’s what I need it to do. My only issue with setup and service is actually a problem with the fire changes in Massachusetts. I’ve had the system installed for fire and carbon monoxide monitoring, but the fire chiefs still require these stand-alone systems that aren’t connected any way. But the most important thing is that ADT seems to maintain good relations with the police department. One time, I was out of town traveling and had a security break, but it turned out to be my mistake. ADT was able to get the police to come out and check. Even though it was my mistake, it was good to know that it was reviewed.

    I’m 75 years old, not computer-literate, so I have to stay on the phone if I want ADT to come out. The person on the other end says they got it fixed, but it’s not fixed two hours later. Everybody is very polite, but the system just doesn’t work or the people are not trained enough to make it work.

    I called them a while back and asked them to replace the window sensors since we got new windows. They sent somebody out, a young gentleman, and he put the sensors in. Ever since then, we’ve had nothing but problems. I called again about a month ago and told them to send somebody out or I’m gonna take the sensors off the windows. I already paid $189 for the last one, so I said I’m not paying for this service. Somebody else did come out, and they said they fixed it and left.

    When I’m leaving and I turn it on, it wouldn’t work properly. It’s saying that a window in the bedroom was open, and it isn’t. That bedroom window has never been opened. We either have heater on or we have the air condition on, and we don’t have our windows open. It was also saying that the door on the sunroom wasn't working when those doors were closed.

    The last guy that came in said I didn’t have fire alarms that hooks into ADT in case something happens. I told him to put them in. I bought even more stuff and paid the cost of that service because he said I needed this and that. Now it’s saying the battery is dead and it loses the internet all the time. I’m just frustrated with it and I don’t use it. Another time, the gentleman told me I need a whole new system so I could have ADT on my phone where I could turn the alarm on and off. When another guy came out, I asked him how much that new system was. He checked my phone and told me I already have it. It’s just one thing after the other.

    I’ve been a customer with ADT for quite a while and I have old equipment. I just got the basic stuff where it alarms when somebody opens the door. But I don't know if that equipment really works. They're forcing me to pay to get newer equipment. In order for me to be compatible with a new customer’s equipment, I have to spend $1,000. It’s not worth it. I’m not too happy with them and I wouldn’t recommend them since they don't help out old customers. I’m thinking about moving on to another company because they have upgraded stuff for new customers.

    We got ADT when we moved into a new house. And it was all by itself and we didn't know our neighbors. That was about 18 years ago. Their customer service has always been really good. We got to a point where we didn't have a landline and talked with someone who was replacing some pieces. And he said they can do the self-service piece directly. And he was really good. They installed it. And it's been that way ever since.

    A few weeks ago, my granddaughter put in the wrong code, and the alarm went off. And we fixed it right away. I got a call from ADT in 15 minutes. And I said it was all fixed. Since he asked what the passcode was, and I didn't remember it because it's 17 years old we went on our way. And all of a sudden, I got a call from my neighbors. The police were there.

    Evidently, we left the garage door open and there were workmen across the street who looked a little shady. And the not-very-good police from our area had one of them in handcuffs because they thought they were robbing our house. So, when I told the guy who I was and he knew who I was, I'm not quite sure why he still called the police. I didn't give him the passcode, because it was my cell phone but I answered his questions. I’m very satisfied with ADT except for that one incident.

    I would recommend ADT. The only issue I've ever had with them is getting someone from their call center who speaks English well enough that I can understand to help me get whatever we've needed. Nowadays, every company wants you to go through their website. When you call, they say everything is on website. I'm 50 years old. I am computer savvy. But I don't necessarily want to conduct business that way over the computer. And some questions can't be answered on the computer.

    I have been with them for around 15 years. We've had it for business and personal use. The service works great. The keypads are now touch screen. They have a lot more tech upgrades and cameras than when we first started. The system is easy to use, including their app. I like being able to turn my system on and off from my phone.

    A lot of people in our area use ADT and we’ve had them for about 10 years now. It functions fine. It gives us what we want. Their customer service is generally responsive. We never had any major issue with them not coming out and doing something if they need to do it. The alarm stuff works well. It goes off when it needs to go off.

    ADT is a good company that you can use. I have another home in Florida, but I don't use ADT there. I use another company and I put everything up myself. It costs about half of what ADT is.     I'd recommend ADT to a friend, but I'd be honest with him and tell him what my issues were. Usually, with brand new homes, that's probably not as much of an issue. My home was built in 1947. It’s a mid-century home. And I don't know if that makes this an issue.

    I got ADT in 2008 and I discontinued for a couple of years. I went away thinking I was gonna save money. And then I realized this is not good. And I came back but it’s not been the same. I don't know if it's because they got so big or if this is just the new normal.

    I really like ADT. They’re a great company. But it's not been the most perfect experience for me as an old little single lady. The equipment isn't as good as it used to be. When I first came with ADT in 2008, I never had issues. The protection is good. However I'm not feeling as comfortable because something's going wrong. Either sensors were not working. I finally had to take the sensor out of a back room because it's a dead zone in there. I've had nothing but issues there.

    The other issue is that I have to pay $59 for a tech to come out here. It does not sit well with me, especially if it's their equipment that goes wrong. I understand it's the way of the world now, but it taps my hide every time, especially if it's stuff that's going around here through no fault of my own.

    And I seriously thought about finding another alarm company that hasn't gotten too big. But so far, I'm still with ADT. But I had an experience with them on the phone, trying to take care of all the things that went wrong after coming back. And it left a bad taste in my mouth.

    They're always helpful. I've even had techs where I had to get on a video with technicians to try and fix the issue. And they thought for sure it was fixed, and it really wasn't. It happened twice. I got so mad when there was someone I spoke with telling me I had to pay to get here and address the issues in this house. I'm paying for this service and to have to pay to fix the equipment online with a technician really rubbed me the wrong way.

    It was convenient to go with ADT but they could use some improvement in knowing and understanding that the physical address may be different from the mailing address in some homes especially if your neighborhood is not in it. You may have a different ZIP code from the mailing address and from the physical address. The homeowner knows that because we have to pay for it. But it's talking in circles trying to explain why you have a different physical address versus a mailing address, but it's the same location.

    Overall, the system is okay. Unfortunately, when the batteries go out, it causes a lot of confusion instead of giving a signal. It causes a lot of hassle and it triggers the alarm. I am also a little disappointed in the extreme rate hike.

    I was interested in the services of ADT because they had a very good review. Their website is helpful and I can control it very easily. However, I'm in a criminal-wide area and sometimes it’s not recording because I have reached 6,000 videos.

    I have also been having problems with the system. I got the service in January 4, 2023 and I started getting problems in March. The camera was not recording. Somebody was trying to get into my house and I had to put the Ring camera. The battery is supposed to be five-year guarantee, and I've changed my battery five times since 2023. And right now, it's low battery again. I've been calling back and forth with ADT to change the device and even to cancel my services but they do not let me. They wanted to charge me because I wanted to disconnect it. I told them I was not getting the service that was offered to me. I'm not happy with the services since day one.

    Two months ago, they went to change the batteries then two weeks after, I had the low battery system again. I paid $100 for the batteries. I feel that the problem was the device and not the battery. I’m not satisfied at all.

    I spent 45 minutes trying to talk with a supervisor because the person I spoke with was a little rude. I wanted to explain my situation because I'm not happy. I lost income. I've been paying for these services with hardship because I don't have enough income, but I don't wanna get in trouble with my credit. But it's very difficult.

    The service I had before, Brinks, was very good, but they were going out of business in the New Orleans area, and they highly recommended ADT. My home has been very secure with it. Any little thing that pops off, they make sure to let me know.

    One time, I was getting my house remodeled after Katrina, and there was an issue. Somebody was trying to steal the wood in the house and didn't realize I had an alarm system already placed in the house. It went off, and the cops were notified, as well as me, and I had to come from where I was staying at the time in the Metairie location. I was well-secured and was feeling comfortable about everything because as soon as they were trying to hit that door, it was on. I had one of those systems, which I still have. It's like an alarm call that would go off so loud it could be heard in the whole neighborhood.

    I also love that a representative gets on the phone and calls you. It's not an automatic service, but it's a representative, a live person. "Yes, we're calling. We received it." If you don't answer, they're going to leave a voice message.

    It has not been that difficult for me to get in contact with a representative. If I wanted to call and get a battery replaced, there would be no more than a wait time of about 15-20 minutes. They've been pretty good about that, and even during COVID, they were really good with checking on the system. Even the guys who came out and did the installation have been very professional.

    The only thing I ask is if they could lower their payments a little bit because I have two accounts. I trust them so much that I put it in the second house. I have recommended ADT to friends. I have a total of five of my friends who have them.

    I’ve had ADT for almost two years, and my daughter has had it too. The sales representative was pleasant, but he didn't answer all my questions. I'm supposed to have two cameras, the Ring camera and one on the back of my house and on the garage. However, the one in the garage never worked because he left it out there, and it doesn't have a plug, so I can't plug it into the socket.

    I don't know what to do. If they come out and see what he left, it's not a plug, it's just a wire. What am I supposed to do with that? I paid for the equipment because he got the camera out there, and he said that all I have to do is just plug it in. When I went out there, there was nothing to plug in because it's just a wire.     I’ve had ADT for over 20 years, and it’s been a love-hate relationship. The hate is the technology. I have one sensor in the basement that needs a battery replacement, and the touchpad in my bedroom flashes all night long. I have to actually take it off the wall or cover it up. The touchpad batteries are proprietary to ADT, so I can’t find them anywhere else, and they’re really expensive.

    As for the system overall, it works fine, except for the doorbell. It stinks. The video doorbell, I can’t keep it synced, and I've been fighting with it since I got it, even though I have plenty of Wi-Fi.

    My sense of security in my home is great as long as the system is set up. But when it comes to technical problems, I usually know more than the first person I talk to, and I always have to get escalated. I don’t get immediate service, and when they escalate the issue, I have to go over the whole story again. I used to not care about time because money is more important. Now time is more important as I'm getting to be an old boomer, so it's like I don't like wasting my time going through the same story over and over and over again.

    I’ve had ADT for the past couple of years, and while I’ve had contact with some good representatives, the equipment and overall service haven’t been great. Every time I spoke to a different representative, I was told something different about payment arrangements. If I pay an X amount, they would match it. Then the next time, I was told I had to pay a larger amount for them to match it. But I’m over it at this point.

    The system itself doesn’t even work. It sucks. Half the time the cameras don’t work; if it’s not the side door camera, it’s the front door camera. Right now, the front door camera hasn’t worked for three months. The last time someone came to fix it, they tried to charge me. This time, they said they would send someone once I catch up on my bill, but at this point, I’m just over it. Some of it is my fault because if I called to troubleshoot, it might work, but half the time, I don’t have the time or patience for it. I’m getting too old for all that nonsense. I don’t like troubleshooting, so sometimes I just wait until it pops back on. But this time, it hasn’t popped back on.

    When it goes down, it usually takes two to three months. Now, the battery is beeping in the house. They told me I couldn’t order a new battery, and I’m not sure why. I wish I hadn't renewed it, but I did. The young lady I renewed it with was so nice, so I think that’s why I did it. But I’ll think twice before doing it again.

    I’ve generally had pretty good people, until maybe a couple of weeks ago. One young lady I spoke to wasn’t rude, but when I told her that another representative had told me that if I made the $55 payment, she would match it, she acted like I was just saying something. I told her I wanted to check to make sure before I did it, and we were disconnected. She didn’t call me back, which I thought she would have, so I tried calling her back and got someone else. This representative said I had to pay $167, but I just went on and paid the $55.

    It’s not that ADT isn’t important, because it is, but I have to prioritize. I’m struggling as well and need to pay my mortgage before ADT. I don’t need ADT if I don’t have a house to live in. I pay everything on time, but after my mom passed away in June, I had to play catch-up, but for the price, it’s good.

    I purchased (not leased) my entire ADT system (Alarm panel and 22 door and window sensors). ADT sent a young unqualified man (he was about 16 years old) to install the system. He installed it improperly; the system quit working because the young man installed three of the sensors so the batteries could not be changed. ADT told me I owed them for the lease of the equipment... NONSENSE... I purchased the system outright. They sent to me a signed agreement that showed I would pay a monthly equipment charge; the signature was not mine; somebody at ADT FORGED my signature. I have called ADT 15 times to get this resolved... no resolution. I had to block ADT from charging my credit card. ADT is the WORST company I've ever dealt with.     We bought a house in Pennsylvania about a year and three-quarters ago and were looking for a security system. I’ve seen ADT’s signs in people’s front yards, and I thought they looked solid, so we had a guy come out to the house. We have quite a few doors and windows that we’re monitoring, and he gave us a demo with the control panel and set it up. Installation probably took three hours because we have quite a few doors and windows. It’s an old farmhouse, and half of the house was built in 1890, while the other half was an addition put in in 1990, so we had security for both sides.

    Overall, I think it’s been pretty good. We had a scenario last January with really high winds that blew a door open, and that notified the local police while we weren’t there. We had to call some neighbors to come over and take a look, and the local police came and secured the house. Everything was fine, but we were told that if we got two more of these, we’d be fined by the local county. We haven’t had any more since then.

    Our old house had a local service which was bought by ADT, so we were transferred to them without any choice. When we moved to our new house, I just transferred service. The guy from their company came out and installed some motion sensors and door alarms in the house. Our interactions were good.

    I requested some yard signs from them and they said they would be there in four to six weeks. A year and a half later, I was still waiting, so I called them back and then I got them about a month after that.     We’ve been an ADT customer for probably 30 years, and so far our experience has often been very difficult because of billing errors. There were also some significant failures in the installation of our new system.

    Getting in contact with an actual person has been very, very difficult. I've left messages and never received a call back. It is also very difficult to go through the prompts to get to someone. The hold times are often extreme, which makes me very nervous, “How long does it take you to answer an alarm?”

    I would tell others to be careful with ADT and to consider alternatives.

    ADT has been around forever and at one time it was pretty good. But I have recently been looking into other means for home alarm protection because I'm just tired of the service. I'm at my wit's end with it. If I hadn't spent as much money on the equipment as I did, I'd already been someplace else.

    I live in a rural area and got 5G internet service, WiFi and stuff. But yet, my monitor hardly ever works and I have to reset it four or five times just to make the alarm come on. Whenever it finally does connect, I have to keep hitting set alarm and it keeps coming up with error codes. The app on my phone also says it can't connect even if I have full signal. I'll be standing right next to the thing with my phone in my hand trying to arm the system and it says it can't arm. When I try to disarm it, it's the same thing and it takes forever.

    Sometimes the system will also say cellular failure and I have to reboot it. I end up rebooting the system two or three times a week. On top of that, the monitor stays plugged in all the time but it will suddenly say it has a low battery. That doesn’t make sense to me because it’s never unplugged and the batteries shouldn’t even be used.

    Trying to get ahold of somebody is another issue. Whenever you try to call, you gotta go through all these robot things, and push several buttons just to talk to someone, and then you may wait on hold for up to an hour. But if you call like you're a new customer, they answer right away. I've had somebody sitting next to me and asked if I was still on hold. I said yes, and they tried to call. I told them to say I’m a new customer and they answered the phone right away. I just have them hang up on it.

    I had a service tech come out and they said I had a bad signal. I’m like, “Really? I’m talking to you, ain’t I?” My phone works when I call from here to Florida, Michigan, and everywhere in between. But I'm trying to contact this machine right here in my home that's connected to the WiFi and it doesn't work. They even changed the battery, but it still shows low battery even though the system is plugged in all the time.

    I spent thousands of dollars on having everything installed and all the equipment was supposed to be the best of everything. But it’s been absolutely disappointing. I could have bought several cameras off of Amazon, a Ring doorbell, and hooked it to the WiFi and had way better than what I've gotten out now.

    I had ADT in my other home before I moved into my new home three years ago. I was used to dealing with them and didn’t want to go to another vendor. I was satisfied with their products beforehand. The transition between the two homes was seamless. They worked it out with no problems. They were very efficient and came when I scheduled. There was no interruption. I called them before I was going to move in so they knew the date and all of that.

    The installation in my new house went well. I didn’t have any problems. They installed the alarms on the front and rear door. Typically, houses in New England come with a back door as opposed to a side door, which was kind of different from what I’m used to, but that’s fine. It’s just that different states have different requirements and laws. There was no problem with that at all.

    They also walked me through how to use the main connection so I would know what it was. They showed me how it worked because I didn’t know what that was at one point. All the alarms on the windows and doors were fine, and those are pretty easy to see.

    Their customer service was great. They called when I had several false alarms because something kept triggering the carbon monoxide alarm. It might have been the way it was positioned near the bathroom since the steam could trigger it on a regular basis. It was handled very quickly. They just moved the location because it was too close to the bathroom.

    The pricing could be a little better because I’m still paying for the product, which I didn’t really understand. They’re charging me three different prices every month, saying one of them is for the equipment. I’m really upset about that. All I asked was for them to combine it into one lump sum. Instead of one payment, my bank account is being charged three different times every month. I’m not happy with that at all.

    About 15 years ago, I had a neighbor dispute and got security because of that. At that time, ADT was the only home security that was really out there and the only option I knew of. When I had to move and get everything reset at the new location, the experience wasn’t as good and I had some blips with that, but it all worked out.

    Over time, I’ve been satisfied because every so often I get a notice that my rate is going up, and they told me that every time I get a notice like that, I can just call them and they will keep my rate the same. I’ve been a long-term customer, and they won't go up on my rate at this point. I like that I’m able to maintain the lowest available rate based on my years of loyalty.

    As for the features, I like that the remote app allows me to set the alarm remotely and turn it off remotely, and it alerts me if it goes off.

    With ADT, I feel a lot more secure knowing I have those lawn signs out there and that my alarm will go off if someone tries to break into my home. It’s a deterrent to crime. There may be issues from time to time, but they try to work with you to resolve them. All in all, it’s a good service to have to protect your home.

    I'm not happy with ADT at all in any way, shape, or form. I had set up an appointment with them to come out and replace an alarm to put on our door. An individual came out, put the alarm on, left, and then sat in his vehicle about 45 minutes outside.

    Then I get a copy of an invoice with my signature on it, which I did not sign, and for an amount different than what I was quoted.

    I was told by the representative that I didn’t have to be present and that technicians sometimes put the owner’s name on. I told them that doesn’t sound right, especially since I was available at that time. But he still took it on his own to sign my name, which really bothered me. In that copy, I was also agreeing to different terms such as pre-billing and other things, and for an amount different than what I was quoted.

    At one point, I was contacted by their vice president and told that I needed to submit five copies of documents with my name on them showing my signature. That way they could compare it to the representative who I claimed signed my name, including things like my driver's license and other documents. I said, "No, I'm not going to provide any of that to you." I don't know how many months it took or how many calls to everybody, but they finally reversed the amount, but with really no explanation.

    We had someone come to our door when we moved into our house. We knew that we wanted an alarm system and ADT came in and it was convenient.

    The installation was amazing. However it was a little frustrating when we had issues. I could do all the troubleshooting in the app but when I have to call somebody, there's no one to come out and help assist. It takes upto three people to get your issue resolved.

    The system’s performance is good except that the battery for our base panel is dead. Our alarm got set off a couple of weeks ago so I know the panel still works. But when the power goes out, there is no battery pack backup because that's dead and I don't know how to fix that. I was able to figure out how to change the batteries in the other sensors to get them back online, but I have not figured out how to do it for the main panel.

    I feel very secure because they'll call me right away if it's going off, even when my own kids set it off. I like being able to have it on my phone so I can see exactly which door or which window because that keys in a lot. For example, my son didn’t get the garage door closed and the alarm went off after he armed it. Knowing that he goes out that door and when the alarm company called me, I knew he probably didn't get it shut all the way. So that was really comforting to be able to look at my app to see which alarm was going off. It gives us peace of mind to know that our house is secure and safe.

    They should upgrade their customer service so that there's more outreach. I get going through some troubleshooting and making sure people are doing some things that they could proactively do. But when all that has been exhausted, sometimes it's nice to have someone come out and help you fix things and make the changes versus having the consumer do it themselves.

    It'll be three years since I’ve been with ADT. I've been burglarized, and so I concentrated more on getting another alarm system because they bypassed the one that I had. The sales representative was good but I was not told certain things. And so when they put in the alarm system, I just assumed it connected to electricity because they put the panel over the same place where I had my old one but I didn't realize that this was connected to the Internet.

    My neighbor’s system was connected to the electricity. They said they never do that, but hers is, and she's only had hers for about four years. That was a shock to me because it stopped working. And so I called them and spent an hour and a half going through to find out why it wasn't connected. They kept talking about some kind of transmitter. I thought the transmitter was outside the yard and it was electrical. Didn't realize it was a transmitter that was plugged into the wall right below the box for the controls.

    That box then would come loose from the outlet. I had to tape it with duct tape to make sure that it stayed secure and didn't come loose again. I wasn't really happy about that. Since then, they've secured it to the wall when they came out about a year ago, when there was an issue with the alarm system.

    However I do not feel secure with the system. The Internet is not secure. I don't have the best Internet here, and there are times when the Internet goes out or I'll get a flash on there that it's not connected. I know burglars can bypass it. I have the cameras outside and that makes me feel more secure. I wasn't especially excited when one of the boxes wasn't working and somebody had to come out a year ago. They charged me for that, when I'm already paying an extra $30 a month for the equipment and if anything goes wrong. It adds up to over $300 a year.

    If I could find a system that was into electric and that type of thing would be more redundant, I would probably switch. I had to go to a couple of people to get what I wanted, and they were helpful. But I'm not really confident with the system. You never know when the batteries are gonna die, which was another thing. I had no idea that I had to change the batteries in these boxes. They never told me about the batteries until one of the batteries went out and the service people then told me that I had to change the batteries.

    My friend down the street has ADT, and that's a problem she has, too. They go out and we're not home, so the system wouldn’t work. They should start beeping. If ADT could resolve some of those issues and make it more secure, then the system is good for a woman who lives home alone.

    I had ADT in California, then I moved to Las Cruces and I had it too. I am, however, not 100% happy because when I needed a new battery or when something happens, it took a long time to get any kind of help from them. It took me a while and several attempts at calling to get through to anyone.

    In Las Cruces, the customer service reps are terrible and not helpful. They leave me on hold, and they tell me to do all these pushing buttons.     At the time I moved here 17 years ago, there was no other service provider that I was aware of, and the previous owner had ADT. However, I’m not happy with my ADT service, but the system has its moments. I live alone and I’m afraid of heights, so I’m not going to climb on a ladder to go up to change the battery for my smoke detector because my smoke detector battery needs changing. They come out, they change the batteries, and they charged me. Customer service is saying that my contract includes the service, but not to my knowledge because in the past, I never had to pay for it.

    The beeping sound that the smoke detector is making is also annoying to my dogs and it is not healthy for them. Also, if the battery on my windows or door is running low, seeing that they can see everything on the camera, there should be notice online that those batteries are running low. If somebody’s at my front door, I notice that it’s not real time what I am seeing.

    With their staff, when I say I’m calling from Montgomery, New York, all they hear is Montgomery and they would be thinking of Alabama. They would not hear me saying New York. The wait time sucks also. The time you have to wait to get someone on the phone for assistance has also gotten worse. They also need to keep the same technicians in the same area. Every time I reach out to ADT for help, I get a different technician. Sometimes, I want to call, but I don’t want to call because every time I do, it’s another man showing up in my house.

    I use the app on my phone because when I am not at home, I want to see what is going on at home. That feature is very convenient. But, for 2025, my bill went up. My bill went up but nobody notified me that my monthly charges were going up. So, I’m ready to make a call to them to cancel my service because my paychecks have not increased.

    I recently talked to ADT because I was upset. Both of my cameras had been out for some time, but I had been so busy trying to work. So, I finally got them on the phone, of which I’ve had an issue before. Quite naturally, they don’t send a tech out and they just walk the customer through it.

    The lady walked me through it, and then it still wasn’t working. But then she was like, “Well, you may have to get a new Wi-Fi router.” I said, “Well, we have not even had this router we got that long,” and she said, “They recommend to change every three years.” It’s not a old system. I was like, “You can just take that off my bill. I don’t want it. Okay?” It had been out for a little bit of time and I even had refreshed it.

    So, then just for some odd reason, in like a day or two, the doorbell camera was back responding. I didn’t like the fact that if they send a tech out, they are going to charge me for it. I get it when they say we are buying the equipment. But, it’s still their products and I shouldn’t have to pay.     My house was burglarized, so I needed an alarm and ADT happened to be the alarm I came upon. The performance of the system is good. Right now, it says one of my windows is open, but it’s not. And my back camera, always on the left side, is always going out and in ever since it was installed. I always had trouble with that left cam.

    I’m tired of calling in, and when I call in for them to come out, they charge a person $100. I don’t think that’s right. Another thing is that on my panel, the battery went low. I ordered a battery from them, I installed the battery, which is simple, and then it lit up on my keypad. Something was tampered with. Right now, if I was in the house, I can’t alarm my house. So, I have to alarm from my cell phone. The only reason why I didn’t call for someone to come check it out was because I did not feel like paying $100 service fee again.

    Also, when one of their guys called me and asked me, the plan hadn’t changed. It was like, “If I’m going to stay with ADT, my bill will still be the same.” And so the guy was like, “Oh, do you need anything?” I was like, “Yeah, I need some more stickers and a new sign.” “Okay. I’ll get that out to you soon.” That was three or four months ago and I still have not got those stickers or signs. Nevertheless, there problems are minor. Customer service is good, and I feel very safe because I also have a pit bull in my backyard with the security system, so I feel safe and well-protected.

    I had ADT when I was at Myrtle Beach for two years, and when I moved here, I picked it up again. The equipment was already here when I bought the house. At Myrtle Beach, the installation went well there. The guys who came out were professional. The only thing I don’t like about them is the contract. I’ve been with you guys for a long time, and my first contract was for three years. When I moved here, I got stuck in a contract for three more years.

    I thought I was doing it month-to-month basis. I asked them about doing it month-to-month and I explained my situation, but they turned me over to some guy that told me that, “Yeah, you signed a contract.” They gave me a smaller discount by taking the camera and other stuff off. I might have signed it by mistake and not looking at it good enough, but I don’t think I’m going to be with them after this contract is up.

    I had Brinks and ADT bought them. If it was my choice and if only I was not under contract with them right now, I wouldn’t be with them anymore. They are expensive and my experience with their customer support has been absolutely horrible when I have had to call them. I don’t think I’ve had a time where I’ve called and haven’t either spent an easily 20 to 30 minutes on a call or then transferred to multiple departments to end up back to the original department that I was in.

    I don’t call very often, so when I call, I don’t expect it to be a huge ordeal. Because if I’m calling, there’s a specific reason that I know what it is. And nothing seems to be simple. Nobody seems to know what’s going on. And then the hours are absolutely horrific. It’s like bankers’ hours, which doesn’t help much.

    The features aren’t anything that’s above and beyond what other people offer. The thing is they offer the stupid Ring thing, which I can get on my own. I’m in IT, and I got cameras throughout my house anyway on the inside and outside. So, that doesn’t necessarily do anything for me. Honestly, because of the way that they have the stupid Ring thing going through ADT, it’s super delayed anyway. So, I would have almost been better doing it direct myself. Find something cheaper.

    ADT is the most popular one I've heard and I have had them for around six months now. Their sales rep was a nice guy. He asked me what I was for. And ADT has what I was looking for. The guy who did the installation did a good job, except that the doorbell absolutely sucks. I don't have wires out there that are working properly, so he got the battery-operated one on there and I've got to charge it every two to three days. And every time I use it, the doorbell doesn’t ring anywhere at all. It's an absolute waste. It’s terrible.

    It doesn't do anything on my phone. By the time I see somebody by the door, they're gone. I'm not sitting there looking at my phone, monitoring my phone 24/7. I tried to reach out to the salesperson because he gave me his number but he said he’s not with the company anymore.

    I was a customer with ADT when it was still Protection One. I am a loyal customer for 25 years. It is an inconvenience to change it out even if I'm not happy with the video cameras. That was a waste of money. I had the ADT cameras, and they got changed. They even pick up fog and I got irritated, but they work. I like the other ones better.

    The other ones picked up everything that came to the yard. But this one, I could have my lawn guy in the backyard and it only picks him up twice. I should be able to pick them up more than that. It should pick up when I have somebody walk in my front yard. I could pull in the driveway and it doesn't show me pulling in.

    I'm a retired cop. All I want is if somebody kicks in my door, the alarm goes off. I am not satisfied with the cameras and they're expensive too.

    When I have issues, I have to be persistent about getting them to come out here. I don’t like that because I pay money every month. I've been doing it for 25 years, and if I need ADT to come out, they should. I can’t figure something out, but I have to eventually. I'm a baby boomer. I can get my 5-year-old grandson over to do it.

    Overall, the system works well. When they need to chew them out and change the batteries, they get a little irritated at me. But they're come out and change these batteries. I’ve got a generator so they really shouldn't deplete. My girlfriend has ADT too, and she has two cameras. Her cameras are working great. They pick up everything.

    Somebody tried to talk me into going to another company last week, but I'm fine with the alarm system. As long as I know somebody's coming to my house, I don't care about the video cameras. I have a shed at the back and if somebody tries to break into the shed, the video camera does pick that up, so I'm not really concerned about anything else. They just need to DM me if somebody breaks into my house.

    I tell my family and friends about ADT all the time if they're interested in security. I had several people who went with ADT and they said I recommended a good company. They've had it for a long time. The people that I talk to love ADT.

    I started with them when I was looking for a company and I recognized their name. And it's been excellent. I've had the system for a while. Periodically, it goes off and the lights would turn the same color. And in about 30 minutes, it works again, so I don't even bother calling because it always corrects itself.

    I like that it's convenient and easy. And you can take that pad into any room you want, which is very nice. I love ADT and I've never considered changing. People are nice and the equipment works. And when you call, they resolve the issue right there and then. They stay on there and help you and check back with you, and see how things are. That's what you look for with companies nowadays. And that's what you don't find. You’re not just another number. They care about you and they care about your system and your safety.

    When my alarm goes off, they'll call back and check and see if I'm okay and need help. I don't know about the other companies, but I'm not interested in finding out about anybody else. I have what I need.

    My yard signs split after a while. I had one part of ADT on my sign in my yard and I called and they said I should have told them sooner. They asked how many I need. They never fail. And I had a time when I was looking for something on my paper and they told me what needed to be done. They go out of their way. They know their stuff. And the minute you tell them about an issue, they know how to solve it.

    I have my home security and then my med alert with ADT. And the home security preceded that, at least five years. It was more than fair. I wasn't really happy with the installation team. He kept going out to his pickup, taking long breaks, and then coming back to try to sell me more and more stuff. Then, when he took out my old stuff around the windows, he just ripped off and left half of it there. I never complain about that, but it's still there, and it's awful.     We've had ADT for many years. The service is the same they haven't gotten any different. Their price has gone up slightly, like everything else, but their service has always been spot-on. The installation team was very good. They knew what they were doing. We had some problems because of AT&T, and they helped us work it out. Technology has improved, so everything else has gotten better, and that wasn't ADT's fault. It's just technology in general. They return our call immediately if there's any kind of breach, and they let us know ahead of time if there's gonna be any power outage. The console box indicates if there's been any brownouts and pass-outs. A lot of times, AT&T cannot mesh correctly with the satellite. That causes problems for anybody who has service, whether AT&T wants to admit it or not.

    AT&T called 30 days ago, and they're doing a good job. There's no reason to change with them. They wanted to maintain the same cost that they had for the last two years, which I thought was quite appropriate and very nice the way they handled it. So it was transparent.

    I’ve had ADT for a very long time. They’re the only security service I’ve had that I remember and so far, it has worked perfect for me.     I got an email that offered a $200 Visa card for somebody if they recommend me. I spoke to an ADT rep over the phone for quite some time about what we would need. He gave me an estimate of the price that I could expect which turned out to be significantly higher than that. And when I spoke to him about the $200 gift card, he said he didn’t know anything about that and then the line was disconnected. That should have been my first hint not to go with ADT, but I had already made the arrangements.

    I was with a different service and I wanted to upgrade to ADT because of their reputation. My son-in-law and daughter had ADT in their home in Denver, Colorado as well. I was paying 30 a month on the last service but now, I pay around $95 a month. My price went up a lot and I’m locked into a contract, so I can’t get out of it.

    My wife and I had a very difficult time getting her connected. I can use the app on my phone, but we haven’t had a good luck with her. We’ve had a back door issue and have tried on numerous occasions to get it corrected. They sent me new material to reinstall the magnetic device myself but it didn’t work. We’ve called them back yet they didn’t help. We’ve also had a terrible time with keeping our video doorbell working. And again, troubleshooting it and working with the person online didn’t help. Right now, I’m paying for it, but I am not getting that service. All in all, my experience has been negative.

    I got ADT shortly after my husband passed away in September. My sons wanted me to put a security system in. Installation was done late in the day. The installer was here for a long time because he had to put sensors on all the windows and doors and it was late when he left. The poor man was exhausted.

    ADT’s technician tricked me. He gave me a display monitor, and I said that I didn’t wanna pay for it. He said he’ll give it to me for free. ADT said, “We’ll give you that for free, but you’re gonna have to keep the five-year contract term for the monitoring.” The actual equipment is okay, but that’s not what the real costs are. They wanna give me the equipment for practically nothing and want me to do the monitoring ‘cause that’s where they’re gonna make their money. I’m just appalled. I’m beside myself that they would do that.

    I filed a complaint about them in South Carolina. When I called ADT, I spoke with somebody that said they can’t find the recording of the call. They were going to reduce the term of the contract they say I signed, which wasn't even my signature. It was a scribble. A couple days later, I called, and he said they found the voice recording, but I’d have to do a subpoena to do an investigation. I think they lied that they really had it. Why would I have to subpoena it?

    I’m 60 something years old, trying to retire, and stuck with a bill. My mother just had passed the month prior, so I was dealing with a lot of stuff. ADT is very insensitive and all about the money, and I would never recommend them to anybody. They’re not trustworthy, and they're an awful company.

    ADT overcharged me for years, and I was thinking I could get an upgrade or they could get my system working. When I finally called them, they told me that my system was obsolete and that I would have to pay for a completely new installation. If I talk to somebody at the frontlines, they won’t escalate to a manager. I wrote letters to the CEO and Chief Operating Officer, and I didn’t get a response from them. They're a lost cause in my book. They should be honest with customers and have an escalation procedure. They should also get rid of the high-pressure sales. But most importantly, they’re not competitive in pricing. There are other services that offer better installations and cheaper monthly service.

    My service with ADT is the worst I’ve ever had. I signed a two-year contract with their salesman. Next thing I know, it’s a three-year contract, and the price went up for all three years. The whole thing is just terrible. A month after I had the system installed, one of the door sensors went out of line, and the alarm system started working. They told me they’re gonna charge me $150 to come back and fix the sensor. It’s gone downhill from there. I’ve been paying $65 a month for nothing. I went to their location and tried to talk to them. The door was locked when I first went in there. It’s very, very difficult to talk to them, and they don't care. They’re rude and very standoffish.

    The representatives have been great, and the service has been good for the most part. People have really tried to help, God bless them. They work hard for me. I’m not sure if it’s my location or the camera itself, but it doesn’t capture all the deliveries that come to my front door. I would understand if it missed a few, but not all of them.

    Another thing I’ve noticed is that the response time can be really slow, which is frustrating because the whole point of having the camera is to know about deliveries while I’m away or even when I’m home. That’s really my only negative. Occasionally, the Wi-Fi goes out and the system beeps, but it comes back on. It’s not a major issue.

    The main reason I got it was to have deliveries show up on my phone so I know exactly what’s happening. Sometimes, this is a feature that can’t be changed, it’ll catch one delivery, but if someone comes right after, it misses them entirely. There have been times it didn’t record people at all. I have an iPhone 15, which is a good phone, and the camera is aimed perfectly with the right range. If it were a bit more responsive, it would make a big difference. Missing deliveries is really hard for me.

    I like that I feel safe and can set it for nighttime. That makes a huge difference to me. I’m 88 years old and really don’t want to be disturbed. I used to work in parental kidnapping cases, so I don’t think I’m at risk anymore, but there are some strange family issues. I feel safe with ADT, and that means more to me than anything else.

    I had ADT in my house before I moved to this condo about three and a half years ago, and they took really good care of me. The house was older, and the alarm system wasn’t nearly as fancy. It was a chore to keep it running because the window sensors and other components would fail. They would come out and fix it, and I felt safe as long as it was working, though it wouldn’t work well during storms. Here in the condo, I have a wireless system, and I’m thrilled. I feel safe, and I believe it would work in case of a fire. That sense of safety is more important to me than anything, though having delivery notifications would be a nice perk.

    The system from ADT works fine, I turn it on at night and when I leave. I have a second home where I’ve had some issues. One of the units had to be replaced within a year, and another unit needed its batteries replaced after about a year and a half, which seems odd. Those batteries are outrageously expensive. I’ve had two problems with the equipment. That said, the problems were resolved quickly and they sent out replacements.

    Although it seems pricier at my other house, about $70 a month. It’s nice to have cameras and all, but the cost makes me think of looking for someone else when the contractor’s over.

    I had ADT when I moved back to Washington in 2011. By that time, the new cameras were coming out for the homes and the external cameras I was interested in. And they didn’t have it. Then I got a Google system and then Google partnered with another company. Then they were then getting rid of that partnership they had with the other company. So, I’m back with ADT.

    ADT is providing the alarm system ‘cause I already have cameras. And they can’t monitor my cameras because they were installed before that partnership, which is okay. I can monitor my own cameras. I’ve been doing it, so it’s no problem.

    Just recently, something went wrong with my front door sensor. I called and I had three people call me to tell me what to do to take the sensor off, which I was able to do, put it back on to remove the battery. Finally, after the third person, and it still wasn’t working. They said they will have someone call me on Friday. But I’ve done everything they asked me to do and at this stage, I needed somebody to come out here and take care of this. And so, they did.

    The next day, they had somebody out. The sensor was working, but it wasn’t communicating with the other side. When the guy came out, he had to replace that piece. He said the magnet was either too strong or not strong enough. He said he had to charge me the 65 and that his boss wouldn’t change it. So, I just went ahead and paid for it. But it did piss me off a bit.

    They kept scheduling a different person and it took several days. The first time, I had a young lady. She was mostly concerned with the panel and she said she was gonna make an appointment for one of the techs to call.

    About two or three days later, the first tech person called. And I had to put him on Zoom and remove the sensor and then remove all the stuff they tell you to do, which I did. Still wasn’t working. And he said they needed another call. He scheduled and it took another three days later. And I went through the whole process with them. And then on the third call, third person who called said it shouldn’t take long. And then it turns out it was actually the magnet. So, I was never gonna be able to fix it anyway.

    I’m at the end of my contract with ADT. 60 days ago, a representative from ADT contacted me and asked me if I intended to continue with them. I informed her that I did not. When it came to the end of my contract, they took almost $200 directly out of my account despite the fact that I indicated that I did not intend to continue. I called them and I was told that I had to notify them 30 days in advance in writing. It’s deceptive and it’s a very bad practice. When someone calls and asks if you intend to renew subscription and inform them that you do not, they disregard that.

    Once you buy the equipment and get it installed, the ongoing costs are way too high for what you get and for the service to have. It’s wonderful to have a call center that’s responsive if there’s an incident, but the cost is far too high for that per subscriber.

    And the customer service person was snooty. They’re trained to ask the consumer a bunch of questions that are irrelevant. Once the consumer says, no, they browbeat you with a bunch of questions like considering going month-to-month. But my decision has been made. It is ridiculous. Overall, it’s been a miserable experience. I’m still waiting for a refund because when I called them they said they will put me on 30 days.

    We’ve been happy with the ADT system. We’ve got it in there for a number of years now and we’ve not had any problems with it. Once in a while, if it went offline, we could call them and immediately, they could give me a fix for it.

    Customer service is great. One time, I had to have them come out and that’s because one of the remote sensors came off and they put it back on for me. The techs were very knowledgeable. In fact, they told me where I could replace batteries that’s cheaper than having ADT do it.

    I had ADT previously for very long time. When I relocated back here to Maryland, I was gonna call ADT, set up a security system, but the prices weren't that great, so I went with Comcast. There was a really devastating house fire in my development that made me really nervous, and I needed a little bit more peace of mind after seeing that. I heard about some of the upgraded features ADT had with the smoke detectors that's attached in walls, and it will call automatically. So, I called ADT, went through the whole sales pitch and all that good stuff. I was told one thing, and it turned out to be a completely different scenario. I was told that certain equipment was going to be included and free. When the installer got there, he showed me a contract, and it turned out to be something completely different. He was the same installer, the first go-round, when I lived on Limestone Court, who was very inappropriate and didn't properly install the equipment.

    This go-around in my new home, I did everything correct. I called ADT proactively asking them what I was supposed to do and I got so many different answers. It was, “Leave the equipment,” then it was “Don’t leave the equipment,” then it was, “Leave the equipment.” So, I was in a little bit of a stickier situation because I sold my home before my next one was built and ready, so there was nowhere for me to transfer the services over to. So, essentially, I had to continue to pay for services that I wasn't utilizing. And then it was, "Oh, you gotta get the equipment all over again because you left it. You should have taken it." But nobody told me that and I asked a million times. I've had some experiences where I felt like it was well and other experiences where it was terrible, and it's hard to get an agent on the line. It's very dismissive, we're talking in circles, I'm calling and I'm on the phone for hours on end, they keep transferring me and I gotta start all over again. But I don't wanna negate that ‘cause there have been some interactions where it's been okay, positive and helpful.

    The touchpad is just sitting in my windowsill. When I set it up, I told them I did not want them to drill into the wall ‘cause it’s a new house. They said they would give me a stand to put the system on. Well, the installer didn't have a stand on his truck. Come to find out, that wasn't true. When I asked for the stand, they said I’d have to pay for it, and it would be a separate installation fee. I was supposed to have the keyless entry lock installed. The installer stripped the nail in my original one, so we couldn't get it out and didn't have the equipment, and I’d have to call a locksmith to repair what they damaged. And he tried to say that the nail was already stripped. It’s a brand new house so it made absolutely no sense. So, needless to say, that never got installed because I said, "Forget it." I’ve been telling my neighbors who are new to my development not to go with ADT, that they can get a better system with a better rate, and way better service and support unless they want to sit on the phone for hours on end and go round and round.

    ADT was here when we bought the house and we just carried on from there. We changed systems twice because of the price and the service and went back to ADT because there isn't anything else that’s better at the moment. But my experience with ADT hasn’t been the best. There’s no service. We've had different times when our doors were open or weren’t checked properly, the alarm had gone off, and we didn’t get any feedback on that at all. And the one time that I called on it, it wasn't a good phone call, so I don’t even bother calling.

    I've been with ADT for a while, the service has been great, and I have no complaints. I haven’t had any interactions with customer service except when they sold it to me. The program and the features are pretty good. I use the app and it works well. Only thing is it clashes with the internet. I like how quick they are to check on me when an alarm accidentally goes off. I’ve even had them call the police when I didn’t respond quickly enough, but that was my fault. They're pretty quick at what they're supposed to be doing as far as watching the perimeter.

    The only thing that I would suggest they do is to follow up with their customers. I haven't talked to anybody for a couple of years. I'm a single 50-year-old male that's not real internet-savvy. I'm blue-collar. It'd be nice if somebody would call and just go over the cameras, make sure the perimeters are where they're supposed to be, and if they had any suggestions to make it run better. There may not be, but it’d be nice if somebody would call every couple of years or annually, go over features, products that are coming up that might be of interest, that might be more than what I have and something I'm wanting.

    When I first got the ADT system, the technician was trying to explain stuff to me as he was putting it in. But I couldn’t really consume too much in my head because I never had a system before. I didn’t understand how it worked or how to program this and that.

    I had a couple alarms go off by mistake, and you could let the company know. But I never had a phone call asking if everything was okay. I gave them my cellphone number and at night, I keep my cellphone off. But even in the daytime, if I had a problem and it went off, I don’t know how many seconds they want it to be off before they do notify you. I just go to the alarm system and hit disarm and put this code in again.

    I already gotten a text message from a salesperson for ADT for some type of promotion. But I don’t know if they’re scam calls or not. When you send me a text message, I don’t know who that text message is from so I don’t pay too much attention to them.

    I’m thinking about taking the system out. Because where I live at, there’s nothing going on anyway. And I don’t know how the thing works and how to reset it. I just had an upgrade on my cable TV for faster service and I didn’t know it at the time. I had to pay a technician to come in from the phone company to come in and try to reprogram it. When you get an upgrade on that system, you gotta put a whole new password in and the code words. And I didn’t know you had to do that to the alarm system too for it to work.

    Another night, it came on with an alert but because it’s not set up correctly, the alarm didn’t go off. The red light came on and said something about a cellular phone. It doesn’t work that well. No one’s ever came up to check the system out. I know a person across the street here has a different system and every year, they come up there. They send a technician free of charge. And they go over the whole system with the homeowner to make sure everything’s working like it should. But with ADT, that’s not one of the services they give you.

    I’ve got an app on my telephone and that’s what I use. But I’ve never turned my system on when I’ve been away. If I go away and leave the house, I don’t even have my system set. The only time my system is set is when I’m at home.

    I called the phone company to get my service switched from my apartment to the house I was buying and they mentioned that ADT was having a special. I talked to my wife-to-be and she said she’d feel more secure if we had a security system. And so, I made arrangements to have ADT come out and do a install right after we got the house.

    The performance of the system is excellent. Recently, I accidentally hit the panic button on my key fob. I got a call immediately from ADT to make sure everything was okay. And before they would let me off the phone, they asked for my code word to make sure they were talking to me.

    Fortunately, we’ve been here just a little over three years, and we haven’t had any attempted break-ins. But we’ve had a couple of false alarms where my wife will open the door and forget to disarm the system. And they are very quick to call and respond. Once, the police even came out.

    I love the notification of any door opening that has a sensor on it. We have the front door and two doors leading from the basement. All three doors have a sensor so if any of the doors open, it’ll say, “Door one open.”

    I would definitely recommend ADT to friends. It gives us peace of mind, that we set the alarm, and we know that if anyone tries to get in, that the alarm is going to go off and that ADT is going to call. And that if they don’t reach us, the police are gonna come out. I know that if something did happen, we would have immediate assistance.

    ADT is a bigger company and I figured they would cover more ground and I’d be a little safer in this world we live in today. But I had a malfunction before and I wanted them to come and explain it to me. I’m immobile and I can’t leave my house. It was very rudely let known to me that it was not gonna happen. The system has went off before and I never got a phone call. I’m not even sure if it’s being monitored but I hope that the loud sounds would deter somebody and make them run.

    I would tell others they need to do their own research into different companies and look at contracts. I had a really bad experience with the ADT contract part. Others should look at customer reviews and read what people are saying. You can’t believe all of them.

    We’ve had ADT for 20 years and we’ve been very happy. When we moved into our home and built it, the company that was contracted with the builder went out of business and sold it to ADT. But they were so great and there was no reason to change.

    Then eight years ago, they did have a special to upgrade our system to a more current type of interaction, so we did that. The service technicians are 100% great. Our only complaint would be when you try to get pricing information before the technician gets out here, I give that a 2, from 1 to 10.

    I used to live in Mexico and I had ADT there. It was a really good service so I thought I’d hire ADT in the US as well. But I’m very disappointed of the customer service that they have. Most of the time when I talk to the representatives, they’re not helpful at all. They always refer me to the site and fix it there. The site is designed mostly to sell but not to solve users’ problems.

    When I contact them, I have to wait for the callback. It takes time but it’s not difficult. Every time I call, I get not satisfactory answers so I choose not to call anymore. It’s been a while since I called and accessed the site.

    I needed to do a lot of adjustments in my system. The door camera that they installed has never worked quite properly. They changed it once, but I’m just facing the same problems. It’s not a very good hardware that they use. I really don’t think that ADT is a good value for the money. I don’t recommend it but I don’t like to discourage others either.

    The ADT wireless accessibility seems to go in and out sometimes. It has to do with the guest wireless option versus our own wireless option, so we’re trying to figure that out. We’ve called ADT, and it fixes for a little bit and then there’s a red notice saying there’s something going on there. But we’ve ignored it and it doesn’t seem to affect the system too much.

    Other than that, the system seems to be working okay. Other than using it from the wall, I also like using our mobile devices to turn it on and off. Our sense of security is high and I’d encourage others to use it. There’s a lot of competition out there, but ADT is worth it.

    I'm not happy with the service. The lady who sold me the product sold me some cameras when I first moved into my house. She told me I could get out of the contract any time after a year. Then, come to find out, it's three years. And she was really rude to me. I don't use it enough. Then I had issues with the front camera. It was part of the ADT, but she was selling Ring cameras with her bundle. The camera stopped working, and then the screen for the ADT that I got by my back door stays on constantly. I can't get it to turn off. I don't know what's wrong with it. I tried to contact her because she had the service guy come out and do all the installation. I'm not happy with it. I wanna cancel it. It'll be two years this April. I'm just hoping to buy out of the contract. If it weren't for the salesperson, I think the system would be okay.

    I’ve had ADT since 2004, so a long time. My current setup is a bit iffy because I need coverage around the whole house. I only have a Ring tone in the front and I also have it set up on my phone. But every time I try to use the app on my phone, it doesn’t work. I need to either upgrade or do something different. I definitely need to improve the security system around my house.

    We’re getting the garage door repaired, so I had to remove the alarm from it for now. Once the door is fixed, I’ll have them come back out and go over the whole system. It seems like it may need an upgrade.

    Over the last two years or so, the batteries seem to drain pretty quickly. We replace and reset them, but I’m not sure if it’s the product itself. Right now, it’s working okay.

    I would recommend ADT to a friend. I’ve never had any serious problems, only minor ones. I had it in a small condo before, and now in my house. I want better coverage, like motion lights and full security around the property. I’m in a safe area, but I still want the upgrade.

    Customer service is definitely good. The price can be a bit much. For what I currently have, it's about $60 a month. I feel like they could lower that a little, especially for seniors. For $60 a month, I still need to upgrade my system. But with what I have right now, it doesn’t quite feel like it’s worth $60. I’m really looking at this from a senior’s point of view.

    I’ve been with ADT for three years. It's a well-known brand, but I didn't enjoy it. When I first signed up for my security system it was easy and I felt genuine with the installation team, but I realized I had two different ADT representatives who were competing.

    They both said they will give me something if I go with them, and I was confused because I thought it was the same company and I realized they were actually different companies, I understood why.     Our ADT system works really good. We have our issues every now and again with the sensors needing a battery. What stinks the most now is when you need to do something, you have to do it virtually. Whereas before, they would have a technician come to the house. I'm disabled. I was trying to get something fixed not too long ago, my husband was traveling for business, so I had to wait for him to get back home so that he could do the virtual, which is ridiculous. If the technician could come to our house like before, I would have had it resolved sooner. With customer service, sometimes it's a long wait to get to someone, but they help you out pretty well.

    I am not pleased with ADT’s services. I’ve had a security system with them, and when my contract was up to close out, I was supposed to be closing and they would not let me close out. So, I had called them about how my bill had gotten too high and the lady told me that she could help me in bringing my payment down. And I didn’t sign any papers because this was done over the phone. So, she did that, but then they said she signed me up to ‘27. I was ready to come out of the contract in November of ’24.

    Then they sent me some paperwork to fill out, and I filled it out and sent it back. And when I called them to see if they got the paperwork or see what they were going to do, they wouldn’t answer my call. The system itself is all right, but as far as their contracts, I would never ever refer anybody to them or use them again.

    My mom has ADT and she had a good experience and hasn’t had any problems. I also had Vivint before, I liked their equipment, but their customer service and technical support were terrible, so I left. At the time, I was a single parent and didn’t really know what I was doing. My mom suggested ADT, even though her system only has window and door sensors, no cameras. She never got the referral credit because I apparently did it wrong, which was annoying. That was the start of what I should have known would be an ongoing nightmare, but I moved forward.

    The sales guy was great personally, pushy but great but he was misleading. I was very clear that I didn’t want equipment tied only to ADT software, and he assured me I wouldn’t have to, which wasn’t true. The contract is extremely binding, so there’s no way out. I’m not happy and feel bad complaining, but honestly, ADT has been the worst. It feels like a total racket, I really hate them.

    The installation was terrible. It took a couple of years to get everything installed properly, and not without several holes in my house due to how they installed things. I had to have them come back multiple times, and two cameras had to be relocated. It was not a great experience.

    I was a customer of Spectrum Security, but they decided to discontinue their service. They recommended a few companies, which I researched online, and I found that ADT offered a better product and higher satisfaction. So I chose them. The system works fine, and the representative from sales and installation was terrific.

    I have one issue with ADT, but it works well. When I first installed the system, if there was a problem, someone would come fix it. Now, I have to call and they schedule someone to walk me through it. I’m good with electronics, but some repairs are harder than others, and otherwise they charge for service.     I’ve been a customer probably for 10 years. The last four was in Temecula. We found out about them through a salesman that came knocking at our door when we lived in El Centro, and we had been looking at security systems. My husband was in law enforcement, and after looking at various companies, we decided on ADT because of the cost and the equipment that was being provided.

    I’ve only had a minor problem with the doorbell. And I’ve called on that, hoping that I could get it replaced. But they didn’t replace the doorbell. But, other than that, the system operates very well and it’s user-friendly. Also, the staff there are usually readily accessible when I call. I use the app and I like it. I can view my cameras, and I can play back videos. I could unlock my door, check my thermostat, and I could have my garage door opener set to it too.

    Since having them, I’ve felt very secure. Whenever the alarm goes off, they respond quickly, and I have it set up so they call me first rather than calling the police department. That seems to be working out well. They are professional and responsive, but there are less expensive companies nowadays.

    I’ve had ADT since I got robbed back in 2017 until now. The guy came in and told me, “There’s no way to hack you,” and in the same breath, turned around and told me how another person was hacked by an employee of theirs and the guy was watching the kids. He was nice but he was a liar too. I had 13 different devices on my thing and they made me pay for another security panel for my security panel getting hacked. I had to pay $380 for that. And then now, my thing is going up each month and it’s the same kind of panel as I had. That was the first time I’ve ever put a bad review of anything on anybody.

    And I said, “I don’t want it hooked up to my WiFi box.” He said, “It’s okay. I’ll just do it for a second and turn it off myself when I leave.” And I was like, “You’re able to get on my WiFi box when you leave?” He said, “I’ll send you a request to do it and you okay it.” He never did any of that. It took me three days to finally get it to turn red on the panel myself. I called customer service and she walked me through it on how to do it.

    The only reason I have ADT at this moment is because I can’t imagine staying out here by myself in the community that I live in now that somebody stole my gun without a security panel to at least alarm me if they’d come in my door.

    They offered to me a lower price than I was paying at Brinks. But come to find out, it’s also a lower service. My service with Brinks was wired into my system. My service with ADT is internet-based. That to me is a huge down step. The system covers my house and the main panel performance is expected. We opened the back door a couple times and it went off.     Four years ago, our realtor on the house we owned before this one put us in contact. So, we went by reference to the realtor. The signup process was easy on the first one, while the second one was a disaster. The first installation was also good, but when we sold that house and transferred it to this house, it was not a good experience. In terms of features, we didn’t get the majority of what we wanted, so I’m not a big fan.

    With the sales guy here, we laid out we wanted everything to be controlled from the app, like the garage door opener, the front door, and the thermostat. And the installer couldn’t get the garage door to work, and get the front door lock to work. I had to install it and make it work. And the thermostat never showed up. So, we didn’t really get anything. But the cancellation fee was so high that nobody was willing to work with us on it since we didn’t get anything we wanted. So, here we are a year and a half in paying 60-some dollars a month. In September, it is going to get canceled.

    The previous alarm company I had was sold, and the service went to zero. I was familiar with ADT as a security system, and they were a little cheaper, too. I've been with them for two or three years. During installation, we went fairly well with getting to learn about the new system because we were reusing a lot of the old system. Within the last three or four months, I’ve spoken with them at least three or four times, and the experience has been very good. They're very knowledgeable, like the technicians who have been here. I also use my phone a lot of times to arm and disarm.

    I'm very satisfied with my ADT package. The fire protection system they installed was basically composed of smoke detectors. I had both smoke and heat detectors in the attic with my old system and they couldn't reuse any of that. My old system also used a monitor smoke detector. ADT’s smoke detectors are battery-operated, one thing I did not like, but I can live with that. Overall, ADT performs as advertised. The only thing I don't like is that my quarterly bill keeps showing up.

    I’ve got two cameras, one of them works well and the other one doesn't, so I'm not happy with that situation. I've had ongoing problems with one of the cameras and ADT can't seem to do anything. It’s so blurry you can't really see anything. It saves certain videos, but it doesn't save enough of them. It records a video every minute, so if it rains all night long, I've got 15 videos of rain dripping, and then I can't record anything else for a month or two. So that’s not good ‘cause if something big happens I wanna be able to see it recorded. And the way the price keeps going up, I don't like that. It went from fantastic when I first got it to just barely on the good side now and going downhill.

    I grew up with ADT. As a little girl, my parents had it and it's the only thing I just ever knew. My experiences have not been so great in the last couple of years and if I wasn't on a contract, I would have left already. I don't like the cameras at all ‘cause it’s very difficult to get a clear picture. I have doorbell, driveway and inside-the-house cameras, and they're just terrible in comparison to other cameras that are out there. The cameras are a big one for me because I have kids and I need to be able to see what they're doing, and it's sometimes difficult to get a clear image. I used to get phone calls if we accidentally set off the alarm, but I don't seem to be getting those anymore.

    Customer service is awful. I had an incident a couple of years ago where the lady was so rude and extremely disrespectful to me and I reported her. I had a recent incident where my Wi-Fi and everything was upgraded, and so all my cameras went down, and I was looking for assistance from tech support. I had called back several times and there was one lady who was so rude. She told me what I needed to do and then she attempted to get off the phone. Another one wasn't rude, but he never called me back, so that was very disappointing. This is all when I trying to get my cameras up. I had to go online and watch YouTube videos in order to figure out how to get my cameras online because that lady said she didn't have to stay on the phone with me and I ended up running into problems. I couldn't get my camera online, and I didn't want to be on hold for another 45 minutes waiting to get help again, so I just tried to figure it out on my own and thank God I successfully was able to do it. So, what am I paying ADT for when every time I have an issue and I call and I ask for help, I'm running into somebody with an attitude, they hate their jobs, and they don't wanna talk to people. This is a service that I'm paying for, and I should get a little bit of respect

    The house was already wired by ADT, I couldn't switch, and it's been a problem. I'm not happy with it, but I'm stuck and nobody knows how to fix it. I hadn't called them back. I’m scared they'd charge me and it's too much trouble just to call them. ADT is just too big of a company. I have other alarms in two houses, I deal with a smaller company, and I prefer that 'cause I have one-on-one communication with them. I've got their personal cell phones and it’s so much easier.

    With ADT, I call a number, there’s no telling where that person is and I have to talk to different people. There’s a group that does this, and it’s a group that does that. I have to wait for this group and that group, and it just drove me nuts.

    My keypad is right at my back door. When I close it, especially if I've got groceries in my arms, I'm gonna kick it to close it, it jars it off, the keypad goes off, the alarm will go off, and the police will come. You have to gently close the door. Who wants to remember to do it that way every time? If there's a draft, you gotta close it hard or it won't close. You've got to have it connect when it closes or it pops back open. I'm here a lot of times and I hear the lady saying, "Garage door open." Well because it wouldn't let me close it. I've called a couple of times and they're all very nice. One person sent me a part, but it wasn’t gonna help me at all. And then another nice lady had me go all in the keypad and do this, that and the other. That didn't help at all. If I was dealing with the people I have in my other two houses, it would be a piece of cake.

    We’ve been a customer of ADT for about 30 years. Their customer service is great. If I’ve had issues and they can’t address it, they transfer me to somebody who can. Their techs are here when they say they're gonna be here and they get done in the time they need to. They also give me recommendations but never try to sell me things. They just either fix a problem or install something new. I’ve had a great experience with them. My alarm goes when I come in, and the phone starts ringing. I have the app on my phone, so if I leave the house and forget to set the alarm, I can do it on the app.

    My only concern is I’ve been told they’ve been purchased or merged with another company and, hopefully, nothing changes. I hope the service doesn’t stop. I used to be able to drive down the street for about 5 miles and see at least one or two ADT trucks driving around. Now, I don’t see them at all. I used to even go to a local store on La Palma near my house and buy a backup battery. But now if I want a backup battery, I have to call and have them ship it out.

    Our ADT system works great. I purchased it from a franchise rep down in North Carolina because he had a special deal going on for veterans. He was very professional and personable. I come from a security background, and when the installer came to install the service, we worked together to come up with a system for the house. I only have one thing left to do, which is to interface my cameras with ADT, and I installed those myself.

    The initial startup cost was nothing, and we’re happy with the monthly monitoring. ADT is better than I thought they were, and the package we purchased definitely meets our expectations. Customer service is generally very good. There is one tiny issue. I’m used to faster response times from the monitoring company. With other companies we've had through the years, about 30 seconds is a normal response time, but ADT seems more like two to three minutes.     I’ve had ADT for over 25 years. Over time, the equipment aged, and I started having problems with a door sensor. It took two or three service calls before an agent finally told me I needed a new system. They offered to put in a wireless system that will address the issue and gave me a big discount for being a long-term customer. They offered it for $500-something, but by the time it was installed, it was like $2,000. It was dramatically different, and it was kind of a bait and switch.

    I researched other companies in that price range and was ready to switch because of the service headaches. However, they offered a deal, so I stuck with them. But at the end, they switched the price, which was really disappointing. If they had told me $2,000 up-front, I might have switched companies. I also changed one thing with the keypads. They wanted to leave the old, hard-to-read LED keypad, but I asked for new keypads in two places, which turned out to be about $1,000.

    Getting service was hard because every time I called, they said, “Let's try this over the phone.” I understand you can troubleshoot some of these things electronically, but overall, the service end of it was very frustrating. The new equipment works fine, and I’m happy that my house is protected again. However, I went without service for about three months because one door kept triggering the alarm, and every attempt to fix it didn’t work. When they finally agreed I needed a new system, it took another three or four weeks to get it installed.

    I also talked to a technician who told me ADT has been cutting corners by relying on remote troubleshooting, which leads to technicians being sent to jobs they aren’t qualified for. He said, “They send me to a job they know I can’t do, and then I have to explain to the customer why I’m not the right guy.” It seems ADT is prioritizing equipment sales over service, which is a mistake. I understand the cost of running a business, and many companies manage things remotely now, which is fine if troubleshooting can be done over the phone. I don’t want someone coming to my house if I don’t need it. But these were mechanical problems that required a significant change.

    I’m generally happy with the equipment because it works, but this experience soured me. ADT is not handling the service end very well. Everything breaks eventually, and everyone needs service. I wouldn’t recommend ADT. I’d suggest looking for another company.

    ADT is something you need to get for security if you have any elderly person or anyone in the home that’s left alone. The system works and functions well, though the only problem I have is replacing the batteries. Plus, I have a second backup system, a Ring door system. It has a voice recording that you get when you open the door and enter and exit that says, "Front door open" or "Garage door is open," which is my favorite feature.

    If there is an emergency, I have a number that I can call and get service, so 90% of the time, all I have to do is call. But I have someone in my home with me 24/7, so I really haven't had any personal contact with anybody from ADT.

    The previous owner of my home had ADT and I felt it was just easy to use the same one. The representatives have been nice and helpful. It hasn't been difficult to contact them.

    The only part I'm disappointed about is the system itself. My favorite feature is being able to access it with my phone and being able to turn the alarm on and off, but I've had issues with it. I can never access my camera and I always have error messages. I have the window break sensors and those are somehow always not working properly. The console is also a little off. I haven't been super pleased with the functionality.

    I've had to troubleshoot the camera. When I call them, they've sent out a technician to fix things. But I haven't really followed up just because I haven't had time. I do need to call and have them come and check it out. It's a good and reputable company. I just wish the functionality was less clunky.

    I've had ADT for a while and it''s a good service for the monitoring part. It's just easy to use. The monitoring functions are good, but the outside cameras are not because they don't last long. They go down about every two to three months, so I have to make a call for ADT to come out and fix it. It's not too hard to get ahold of somebody to answer the phone. But the last time I had scheduled a call, nobody ever called. So I canceled ADT.

    I’ve had ADT for a very long time. I heard of them through my company, which was using them at the time. Once I purchased my home, I just chose them. They did all the monitoring and licensing, so I didn’t have to get a burglar alarm license from my town. They handled all calls when fire or burglar alarms went off, which was one of my main reasons for going with them instead of another company. The technician was cool, came in, did what he had to do, and was in and out in about an hour.

    However, the doorbell cam, when it gets too cold, sometimes stops recording and turns red, and then it tells me that there's no charge. I have to bring it inside so that it gets a little bit warm before putting it back on. Also, the smoke alarms are a little too sensitive. Whenever I’m doing any type of work, and then sawdust goes up, it goes off. I have to bypass it if I'm doing some work, and especially in the basement. Overall, my sense of security is pretty good. I know that once I leave and the alarm is off, it’s being monitored. They also gave me cameras that I can monitor from my phone.

    For their customer service, every time I’ve dealt with them, they’re on point. When the fire alarm went off from sawdust, they called me and walked me through how to bypass it. Now I know how to do it when I work in the basement.

    I have multiple floors and a lot of windows, and putting the sensors for the windows will be very expensive, so I only got the glass break and motion sensors. The glass break doesn’t go off if it’s disarmed, but it’s very sensitive. If I drop a plate or my keys, or my dog runs with long nails, it gives an alert and shows the location. That’s a good thing, because if anything happens, any little breakage or sound will set it off. I used their online tools on my phone a lot to arm and disarm and to monitor, but sometimes it goes into that maintenance mode or out of range. For the price, that’s where the killer's at. It is a little high on the equipment rental. Or when you buy the equipment, it's a little pricey.
