I had an issue a couple of weeks ago with ADT. I called their customer service and they resolved it right over the phone very easily. Their people are good. So far, I’m quite satisfied with the package I had from them. I’ve been with ADT for about 2 months. I use the phone app to control my system.

I rarely leave reviews, but my experience with ADT's customer service was frustrating enough to warrant one. From long time wait time to being transferred repeatedly from robot to robot without resolution, only to be hung up on at the end of the call, not speaking to no one.

My experience with ADT Security Systems has been nothing short of a nightmare, marked by malfunctioning equipment, incompetent service, and a callous disregard for customer needs—especially for my elderly mother, who was repeatedly disturbed by their faulty system. It really began several years ago when ADT acquired our original security company, “Protection One”. But the last straw—two months ago, our ADT security system began malfunctioning when the smoke detectors started chirping, indicating low batteries-a loud chirp approximately every 60 seconds. We replaced them with known, good batteries, but the incessant chirping persisted. Worse, the system began triggering false fire alarms at 2:30 AM, randomly, jolting my elderly mother awake in a state of panic.
Our attempts to resolve the issue through ADT’s customer service were exasperating. We endured multiple phone and video troubleshooting sessions, which were frustratingly ineffective. ADT eventually sent a technician, but this visit was a waste of time—the technician couldn’t fix the problem and even provided an incorrect diagnosis, leaving us no closer to a solution.
When it became clear the system was unfixable, we tried to cancel our monitoring subscription and have ADT remove or disable the system to stop the disruptive false alarms. They refused to cancel the subscription or shut down the system, instead shuffling us between call center agents and so-called “account management” personnel.
Fed up with ADT’s evasiveness and utter failure to deliver a functional service, I took matters into my own hands and ripped the system out of the wall, disconnecting all power to stop the madness. I informed ADT we would not be paying the upcoming subscription bill, as their service was not only useless but actively harmful. I strongly advise anyone considering home security to steer clear of ADT—they’ve proven they care more about locking customers into contracts than providing a reliable, respectful service.

They made me require a security system because I live alone. And when I first got it, the first couple of months, I had a few problems with the service, but ADT straightened it out. They compensated me for that. I had paid for two outside cameras and the electrician never came by to hook them up. I had to call them back and tell them that I was gonna send them back because I was paying for a service that I wasn’t getting.
The system does pretty good, but sometimes the battery gets low. I have to keep charging it less than a few times a month. I feel better now that I have ADT. I just wish I would have had the outside cameras done. But the ones I have there, they’re just fine.

We had ADT first in our business and now in our home. We’ve had them for years and years. They’re very dependable. The man who came to install it in our home was very good. When I’ve had to call a couple of times, they were very helpful. The system performs great, and I like the fact that I can set it and I feel secure. We have a very good experience with them and we have no complaints.

My husband heard about ADT, and I knew some people in the area that had it. We’ve had it for at least 8 to 10 years now. Before we got ADT, someone broke into our garage and took a lot of tools and stuff out when we were both at work, so my husband decided to get it.
I’ve had an ADT person come here because I’ve had a problem with the slider on one of my back doors. The alarm would go off, and I had a problem with that. They came, and I was very pleased. They were very respectful people, and I’m very impressed with them. The performance of the system is very good. I just lost my husband, so this is very important to me. I feel very secure in my home.

Moving into the house seven years ago, ADT was the alarm system they previously had. When I wanted to put it in my name, it was pre-existing. Everything was good. No complaints. I would say that I had it for seven years or more, and I haven’t had any issues with it at all.
I trust ADT because, fairly recently, I got a call that my alarm went off. It was the glass breakage, and I had to come home. It was actually my cat knocking a vase off the dresser and the glass broke. That actually made me feel good in a way that it was detected. I was relieved when I saw the broken glass.

ADT reps were walking around my neighborhood. They were friendly. Customer service is decent. I don’t talk to them very often, but I’m pleased. They answer my questions, and if I need my password reset, they’re able to do that.
The technicians were good and professional. I have a very simple product, mine is not as complicated as some of the others, like door cameras and all that kind of stuff. I don’t do all of that.

I just bought a house, and I wanted a security system so much that someone introduced me to ADT. He told me that he worked with ADT and that it’s a good company. And his customer service was excellent. They were supposed to come one time to fix something, but I wasn’t home. So, we had it a little late because they took so long to come. But it was okay. I’m not gonna blame them for it.

I was a customer of theirs for 27 years. I upgraded my system from wired to wireless because I got rid of my home phone and I tried to cancel but the high-pressure and they said they put a new system in for free. They did that and they also I was questioning. Do you service your batteries? They said yes for free. I called to get them replaced and they said it would be $160 so I don’t need them anymore. I have a new security system with cameras, but they charged me more months that I haven’t even come up yet so they are super hard to get rid of these bums. I am retired and I don’t need their headache.. My recommendation is do not use them. I’ve never had any success with their monitoring.

If I could give this company 0 star, I would. Expensive, unreliable, they don't send technicians after 3pm (so you have to have a job that allows you to work from home or you're screwed). Every single time I've had to lose a workday for a technician to resolve an issue, they either cannot fix the problem or arrive after the (4)-hour window work they make you wait. The services and equipment that you pay monthly are leased, which means that they will take it back once your contract expires. You will rarely resolve a problem over the phone (minimum time on the phone is 1hr), so they will make you pay for a site visit. If your contract is with a 3rd party camera installation, they blame technicians for their lack of ability to fix anything. The worst experience of my life.

I have been trying to help out and talked to people about how good ADT is. We are using an app, and we can see everything going on with our system. The pricing is also wonderful, and the customer service doesn't give me a problem.

One thing about them is I can’t understand their customer service. They wanna walk me through the process when I know I can’t be walked through it. Then they argue about sending about people out. They don’t want to send no one out when I need someone. Other than that, my experience with the techs has been really good.

I used to have ADT years ago in my apartment, and I moved into my home and wanted ADT because they were really good to me. If there was any issue, I remember a water sensor went off, and they were on the spot. I’m always so surprised that any time somebody calls me, their customer service is superb. I would recommend ADT to anyone.
I've had ADT for almost two years now. I remember more so with this system, it was early 2024 when I got the ADT system for my apartment. I don’t remember so much detail about the fire alarms. This time, when they put them in, there were more details for the fire alarms and then the water sensors. They didn’t have them last time. For 19.99, I get a lot. You get reliability for a great price.
What needs work is the system. I was trying to go in to set it up automatically because my information was compromised, but it wasn’t as easy or friendly. It was too vague when I was trying to get in there, so I had to actually get a customer service rep to help me.

I had no problem with ADT. I’ve been with them over 15 years. Whenever I speak with a representative, it’s been great. The last time they had to update the panel, the guy showed up on time and it was good. It was something to do with the cell. They had to do something because it was a new cellphone.
I’m happy with my equipment. They are quick to respond to emergencies. The only false alarms we’ve had are because of my kids. They forget the panel. But other than that, we’ve never had a false alarm over the years. We have the app and it works really cool. That actually prevents my kids from putting the wrong code in. We arm it for them. I’m sticking with ADT, they're great.

My experience with them has been very good. Money-wise, they reduced my bill where I could afford to keep it. I was paying $56 and then they were gonna raise it. I called and told them I was gonna switch services because I couldn’t afford it no more. They worked it out for me and cut my bill in half.
I like the comfort of having an alarm system. The system has always worked fine and I’ve had no problems. When I accidentally set the alarm off a couple of times, they responded in a very quick time.

I got a burglar alarm from ADT. I like the access and the sense of security, knowing that it’s linked to a system and if something happens, somebody has your back. I also like the response that I get if there’s an issue. I’ve had cameral issues and they’ve responded well. I do have to pay a bit to get something changed, but otherwise, it’s all right.

My ex-wife and her family were breaking into the house from time to time, and they were stealing some stuff. And things were also happening outside my house. And since I’m an airline pilot, I decided to protect my house and bought ADT. And I’ve had it since December of last year. The system works better than expected. I like being able to arm and disarm it with my phone.
I had ADT before, but it lapsed. Plus, I got it shortly after I lost my Rottweiler. I had a 200-pound Rottweiler, but my ex-wife did something to him. I never found him. So, I thought I needed some kind of security for that. So, I went with ADT. But I didn’t want to get an ADT system with him roaming around and setting it off.
Their technicians were also good. At first, I asked them for a keychain remote, but the tech didn’t bring it. And so, another tech came out, and then I couldn’t program the thing after he dropped it off. So, I had to call them a third time, and another guy came out, and he was able to program the key fob for me. So, they were responsible in regards to that, but they made me wait a little bit.

I’ve had ADT since I first moved down here, which would be 15 years ago. And that was because when I lived in New Jersey before moving to Florida, I also had ADT protecting my home up there. And I have no complaint with the way the system works. It’s just that I know my system has gotten old, and it’s basic. So, I would appreciate it if a technician would come by from time to time just to look at the entire system. Because I know that periodically, there are upgrades, and I’m not aware of what they are. And in speaking with some of my friends, they’re quite surprised that I don’t have any closed-circuit TV or anything of that nature in my home yet.

I've been with ADT since 2006. Some of my family members had it, and so once I moved and bought my home, I went ahead and purchased it. I’m 100% satisfied. The customer service and the app are excellent. Everything's been good. I'd tell people to go ahead, I recommend them. The price is well worth it, with all the stuff they had to hook up.

I like ADT a lot. We have them for three years now. The guy who came to install the system was awesome. He was extremely informative. He walked around the house and showed me our weak points where the break-ins could happen. He even mentioned getting emergency supplies ready, having them in a place we can get to quickly– things we didn't expect from just putting it in and say goodbye. I was very satisfied.
I’d tell anyone to get ADT. Our son in San Diego got it and they're getting ready to install. Our neighbor across the way came over a year ago, and they ended up getting ADT.

Ever since I bought this house over 20 years ago, I’ve had ADT in it. I turn it on every day and I turn it off. Luckily, I've never had a break-in or anything. However I cannot get whatever is wrong with their app and I can't get anybody on the phone very easily when I try to call. I have been trying to get on to the app because that's where I pay my bill at, and it's not working.
The system itself is easy to use. You just put a code in, turn it off, put a code in, turn it back off again. It goes off every now and then if I forget to turn it off in the morning to let the dogs out and open the door. It works. If anyone wants a security company ADT is good.

We’ve had ADT for about eight years, and we originally signed up when they came around and did a promotion, so we went on and did it. We haven’t had any problems to get in contact with the representative when we don't have to call.
The system works well. The only problem we have is our Ring bell. It doesn't show anybody coming up to the door, but it rings every time a car passes down the street.I like the idea that it lets me know who's coming through the door, but as I said, it hasn't been doing that lately.

I have been protected with ADT for over 20 years now. I decided to get the service because someone had broke into our home. Over the years, my experience with ADT has been excellent. They're always there. And any issue that we've had over those years, it's always been taken care of. My favorite features are arming, disarming. Everything works. It's an old system, so I don't have the camera or anything like that.

I have been with ADT for seven or eight years. My mother always had it, and when I bought this place, the system was already installed. And my favorite feature, It's just that everything's locked up and there's an alarm.
The representatives have been very good and very polite, and it’s very easy to get in contact with a representative.
The one problem was I couldn't get the battery out of one of the windows, and it was beeping and stuff. And then the smoke detector went off. Those were the only two problems I've had. It hasn't happened very often. Maybe two or three times in the whole time I've been here, but they've been very prompt and they come right over and fix the problem.

I’ve been with ADT for about 16 years. Recently, they put some cameras in on a new system. I had to go out and move all the cameras, and everything was disconnected.The customer experience is fine. When I reached out they were helpful and good when you find somebody who does know what they’re doing.

We’ve had ADT for years since we've lived in this house, in 1996. We've always felt protected. The one we have is actually an upgraded system because our first one went bad because it was just old. This one’s doing really well.
One feature that we really love is that it can be set to different things, like Away or Stay. We have a dog. And if we let the dog run loose in the house, we don’t want it setting off our system. So, we like the security of having it on when we leave.
My neighbor across the street got some weird security system in her house, and we shared with her that we were very satisfied with ADT. And then she changed to ADT.

My experience with ADT was good. I like it. It was already set up on the door when I bought the house. So, they took it out and put a whole new thing in. I love the new system. We had a problem with the front door, but we figured it out together.

I bought a house that had ADT, about four years ago. It's very secure, and I have peace of mind. We enjoy it. My favorite feature was probably the doorbell. And their representatives have been great because they’re very easy to get in contact with, and they respond quickly.

I’ve been a customer of ADT since 1988, and my experiences have been very positive. For the first 27 years, I’ve had excellent service, so the price I paid for it, I found acceptable. Until about a month ago, the system I had in place apparently failed and needed to be replaced by an updated system. A new system was installed in early October, and I was very displeased with the installation process, and the cost was outrageous.
The installer who came out was relatively new to ADT, although he said he had 17 years of experience in the industry. But based on what I’d seen, he was not very adept in dealing with customers and the value of the service he provided was next to zilch. I’m very disappointed that wires are dangling in our kitchen, and I’m still waiting for the area manager to come out and talk to me.
I’m 90 years old, and I started my career 65+ years ago as a telephone installer, so I know a few things about installation. So, I could have given him pointers, but I don’t hover around professionals who are doing their work. When he finished, I came out and saw the wires dangling. He said he had to put an antenna to gain full signal strength, and the wire was that long. I could hardly believe what he said, but I just tied the wires up in a little bundle and let it hang from the ceiling. I hope ADT can get that corrected.

ADT is a good service to have. It works well, and it’s secure. We’ve had it before. Now we have a new ADT system with upgraded equipment for a reasonable price, and we haven’t had any problems with the app. And we like the service that we get when we have a problem ‘cause they’re much more responsive than when we had it before. We haven’t set off the alarm with the new one, but we did with the old one and the response time was okay. They called us up real quick to check what was happening.

We already had ADT in our previous house, so when we moved, we got it put in our new house. Everyone I talked to, from the operator who was unbelievable, the salesperson, and to the guy who helped him, they were all good. The manager and his helper were courteous and put the system where I wanted it. They came over when we set off the alarm by accident on the first day. I haven't had any trouble since then. I’m very happy with my system.

The salesperson told me ADT is gonna be cheap. When he got here, he then said it was a different price and said they could charge me 40 something dollars. I went with it because that was in my budget. I was upset, though, when I called back and the woman said that I can’t cancel for three years and that I have to pay 1,000 or 3,000 something dollars if I do. I didn’t know I had only 30 days to cancel. I’m good with it now.
I have no problem with the system. It makes me feel safe since I know who’s coming up to my door. I’m a single parent, and I live on another complex. You can put people’s names on the system too. If you have any problems with them, you can forward their names to the cop. I learned that from playing with the ADT website. It’s on my phone, and I see what's going on and what’s something new to me. One thing I don’t like is I can’t hear the doorbell ring because it’s outside. And since I’m not by my phone all the time, I don't know when people are out there.

I’ve always appreciated how quick ADT’s response is. The door going in the garage goes off sometimes when I open it and I’ve forgotten to turn the alarm off. The control unit is right there, so I turn it off quickly. Now, things have changed and so many things are automated. I don't get a phone call from a person anymore.
We used to have alarms on every window and door but not motion detectors. We take care of our daughter’s dog, and it’s been a little difficult to leave when putting the alarm on Stay. But it’s no biggie since I just have to remember to use the remote control. Overall, it’s been fine. I’ve never had any problems.

When technicians would come to do installation services, the experience was all positive. During emergencies and when I have called for assistance with a battery installation, they have also been very helpful. The plan that I have with ADT serves my needs and is working well. The only upgrade they did so far over the years was when they had to change the system to handle signals online when cellphones became real popular.

I have talked periodically with the team from ADT over the years, and everyone has been nice and kind. They always resolve whatever issue I have. I haven’t had a problem with them. My favorite feature is that everything is remote. I don’t have to touch the panel on the wall, and I can do everything on my phone.

I’ve been with ADT close to 30 years, and customer service has been good. The technician they sent was also very good. I reminded the last representative I talked to from ADT yesterday that I have tried on two different occasions where my phone number is not a phone number that they were calling on. The other number is only a number that I keep when I fax documents or when I need to find my cellphone when I put it down somewhere where I could not find it. I do not like to take calls from there and it is not a very effective means. Still, overall, over the years, I would recommend ADT.

I have had ADT since December of 23. The reason I got it is because a gentleman came to my front door and talked to me about it. And then I bought the house, and I did not want the lady that was in it to be able to have access to it. I own expensive stuff, so I want it covered and it is good for my insurance, too. The system is reliable and I can do everything from my phone. It is nice to have the ability to arm if I’m out of state. I feel good with the system in place. Check them out. I recommend ADT.

I’ve had ADT for over 30 years. I got a new house in the span of that so I got new equipment as a result. Having them is like going to the grocery store. You get the great checkout person when you have them and then when you go the next time, they’re bad. It’s the same thing with ADT. You get good technicians sometimes who understand what’s going on and then you get poor ones who don’t. It’s a typical deal but it’s nothing deal breaking.
Equipment comes and goes. 50 years ago, you had wires to every individual window. Now, you have no wires to any window. They have a model that says the break-ins don’t increase by not having a wire to every window. Technology changes and they make it more efficient. But they seem to stay up with what everybody else does. They’re expensive but I’d still recommend them.

I’ve been very happy with ADT. I’ve had them for 33 or 34 years, since I bought the house. I live alone, so the alarm will call my neighbors if it goes off. Over the years, that’s made me feel protected. I first got the panic button because my son had violent outbursts when he was a teenager. One time, he pushed me into my room, took away my phone, and threatened me. I made it through the situation, but I had a lot of PTSD and anxiety just being in my own home at times.
Afterwards, I sought professional counseling and my son was treated for his mental health. The professional suggested that I get two panic buttons that I could wear in my clothing. That way, if something happened again, I would have a button I could press and call for help. I still have the buttons now. I need to update a battery in one of them. I could even wear them now as a medical alert. I set my alarm when I go to sleep at night and don't worry because I know that my alarm will go off when there’s a problem and I’m protected.

A young man came out to install our ADT system. He was very knowledgeable about everything that was going on. He told us exactly how to work the system, how to calibrate it, and who to call if anything goes wrong. He knew exactly how to do his job. The system functions pretty well. I like it. It lets you know every window that is protected, if something is broken, if somebody comes in, and if you left something unusual like if you left the window open longer than you normally would.
I like the three emergency calls that I get every month. Through the ADT system, they can call the fire department or the police. It makes it a priority and makes them come quicker. I can sit there and know that it works. When my alarm system went off one time with the smoke detector, ADT called me immediately. They dispatched the fire department out here without even finding out if there was an actual fire.
Camera-wise, it’s good and I like the quality of it. The only thing is if you have issues with your Wi-Fi, it might mess with the streaming of the thing and cut off. You have to log back in. But it’s not like where it’s consistent. It’s only when either the weather is really bad or if your Wi-Fi is really crappy.
Everybody in the house works. My husband works either during the day or at night. My son works overnight. It’s just me and my infant son. With ADT, my sense of security is really good. I can leave a window open and know through the system about that and if someone tries to come in through any other thing. I know if somebody is in the backyard, driveway, or front yard. I can also look at the camera and I can tell right away where anybody is.

We got ADT Home Security because I decided that we did not want a firearm in the house. It was recommended by my brother, who knows things like that. The performance of the system seems to be just fine. I've had a couple of other issues, but not with the performance.
I called for it and two young men came to install it. They were very nice, and they did what I asked. I wasn't educated enough to know that I didn't need all of those little white circular things–like glass breakers–that go in each room, I'm paying for those, plus I'm paying for my ADT system. I was not educated by the rep if I needed them or not. I like the ability to lock the house up when we're away. If, for some reason, we're out, I can lock it from my phone. And the other thing is being assured that at night, it's on. If something happens, the system will show me on the box that something isn't happening. Just the other day, our internet went down. And we got up, and the box was flashing, and we had to reset it, and we found out that that was the reason why. It's a bit costly and an excellent choice, especially if you had children. if you have a dog, you may not need it.
My wife and I are considering stopping our subscription once it's done because we have a dog and in the years now that we've had ADT, we've had absolutely zero problems. We’re not in a fancy neighborhood but we feel secure. And since we’re on fixed incomes, we're talking about whether we can afford it. But overall, we are satisfied.

I applied for the ADT service 39 years ago, eversince I've lived in Fredericksburg. Prior to moving to Fredericksburg, we had someone break into our home down in Caroline County and we just struggled after that. We were not feeling secured that's why we got ADT
I'm very thankful that the interactions I've had with ADT were not emergency situations. ADT has always been right there whenever I would get up and go downstairs and forget to turn the alarm off and walk in front of the motion sensor. They were always faithful to call me to check on us to make sure we were okay.
My favorite feature is turning it on and going on vacation with peace of mind knowing that if something happened, I'll be getting a call or the police department will be going to my house.
I'm very satisfied with it. All of my experiences with ADT has been fantastic. I feel secure with it and they've always done exactly what they said they would do.

DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT USE ADT!!! They have employees that will lie their butts off to make a sale and then those employees will get fired and then you’re stuck with the bill they promised you would no longer have!!! This company back in December 2024 told me when I was selling my house that if I relocated the equipment or found somebody else to take the equipment then they would wipe away the equipment charges, so that sounded great and I found somewhere to take the equipment but when I took the equipment there and the technician showed up, he said you don’t need that equipment. I’ll give you new equipment.
I explained to him that we were told that by bringing the old equipment, it would wipe away my equipment charges, and he said it would still wipe away charges and to just take my equipment back to the house that I was selling which I did. Now that employee is no longer with the company and I’m left with a $500 equipment charge bill 10 months later because he apparently didn’t tell me the truth and I have to pretty much deal with it or it affects my credit report!

After being overcharged for flimsy service for 3 years, I had to threaten to cancel my service before they offered to fix the system in my house that does not work as well they say it does. It gets fixed, kind of! And then I purchase 6 new window sensors, that sends me through a 3 month ordeal of multiple 3-5 hour phone call their very bad customer service. I was frequently passed around because no one could help wanted to bother to fix my issues.
And the fun didn't end there, I had 5 different "so called" technician come to my house to install and fix window sensors after they sent the wrong ones to my house "twice"! And the so called experts barely knew what they were doing, were never prepared or never seem to have the right equipment on their truck to fix the problem. So then I have take off more time from work for them to come to my house again.
"At some point the idea crossed my mind to just stay at home with a shotgun, my house would have been safer rather than waiting on them to fix the issues of window sensors and smoke detectors that go off for NO reason." But on good note, the local fire department knows where my house is perfectly because they have arrived so many times! And if you want to cancel the contract, you have to do it within the 1st 3 days, or you have to pay an EARLY TERMINATION FEE! Even with all the issues I have had with their service, that doesn't matter they just want their money and nothing more. This company doesn't care about protecting you!

ADT acquired my account from Protection One without my knowledge and was unable to process my bill payment with my bank. Therefore, they sent my alarm account to a Credit Collection Agency for $1200.00, stating I void my contract and my alarm has not worked properly this year. The Credit Collection Agency is now advising that they don't have any documentation of when I went into a contractual agreement with ADT.

AWFUL!!! Paid thousands over the course I’d 3 years for my equipment. When my contract was up, and I chose to cancel, ADT informed me my that FULLY PAID for Google equipment would no longer work. I could have gone to a big box store and bought the equipment outright and had it forever. Even though I own it outright, and paid full price for it, it will no longer work once my service has ended. That’s CRAZY, and UNFAIR, and TERRIBLE BUSINESS!!! Furthermore, when the service and equipment was installed, I paid my first month upfront. When I cancelled, they charged me an additional month, when my month was paid at the beginning of the month. So, I paid at the beginning of the month when it was installed, and now, I’m being charged at the end of the month. This company is so SHADY. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID!!

I don't know what is wrong with this company called ADT of a thing🤔. Just 2 cameras, they were charging me $92-$95 monthly for years. I called them to cancel, but they told me they can do $34/month. I don't need them. I was scheduled for cancellation for over a month, but they are still around. All I want them to do is to cancel the sh...t and get the h..l out of my property and my life. DO NOT send me any bill, you had more than enough of my money.

I am taking the time finally - that I do not have but after MONTHS (and really in total 2 years) of the most horrific service that one would not even attribute ADT to being a company. A 5 year child could run a company offering HOME SECURITY no less with more customer attention than that I have been consistently met with by corporate ADT. This is across the board and the only consistent aspect of ADT service is the lack thereof, from Sales, "Client Care or Customer Care" to "Escalation" to "Install"- I am so surprised they are still in business and due to the fact that I have maintained my security systems for my law firm business AND home for 10 plus years with ADT it is more challenging to find and connect with a new company than to deal with these incompetent, rude, unprofessional and completely apathetic employees of ADT but Now I am at my wit's end.
I rarely if ever write reviews (have written 1 in my 51 years of life) as I rarely have time, but I am a business owner myself. The egregious lack of care given to my account needs public attention. I have been left with broken sensors, install dates come and go, a panel that has not worked for 2 years and over 15 service calls with the last installer disappearing in the middle of the job- secretly leaving and not returning without bothering to tell us. No one has called us back, No notes in system. Each time we have called they have NO idea what we are talking about. I will give ADT 24 hours from today 10/13/2025 to see what they do to fix It before this customer (ME) is walking away and starting with a new company both for my law firm business office and my home. Good Riddance to ADT and your horrible company.

In one word, my experience with ADT has been horrible. Things have gone wrong. Each time something goes wrong, they are pleased to fix it as long as they get $168. That includes incorrect installation of items that they were responsible for in the first place as well as replacing a defective battery after three weeks after installation. I will soon be canceling the arrangement with this company. The experience has been nothing short of horrific. Further, as things go wrong, as they have, customer service people act as though they are doing a great favor to come out and charge their $168 for fixing the item.
In one case, they came out, charged the $168. Improperly fix the item. And then, when we brought that to their attention later on, they expressed the willingness to come out again to correct their mistake for another $168. I would have that the service people are extremely rude. In the last instance, when we questioned whether we should have to pay $168 again, during mid conversation, the service person simply turned and left without a word. Recommendation. Go to another company.

Lots of dishonest people work for ADT. You have to call many times to properly talk to anyone. If you want to talk to a supervisor- they take a message. No supervisor call you back. Long wait to get someone, charges extra money,. They promise you one deal but you get different bill. Do bait and switch. Charges you hidden cost.

I can't get a simple certificate for insurance. The first rep took 35 minutes just to send a invoice which was 5 yrs old. Next time I wasted 45 min with a chat trying to get my email address correct never did. It would repeat it back too fast and my and n was never repeated clearly. The third time AI gets it right but then I receive a link to my bill instead of the requested certificate and that link produces an error.. I'm retired and thinking about dropping this altogether. They can keep this unorganized service. Don't want to hear what I got to say you don't get my pay

DO NOT EVER USE, would give negative stars if I could-- I was provided a quote that assured me it covered everything (including the 2 additional outdoor cameras for free). When installer arrived (who was awesome), I found out that what was promised was not included in the quote, even though I reviewed the quote with the salesperson, I need to pay an additional $800 over what I already paid. I was passed around when calling to get resolved (the never let you talk to the same person). The last one was incredibly rude (Trayvon) and basically said too bad. I now understand that this is a common practice for them. Now we will see if I get my full refund.

For 10 months now, I have had an ADT set of cameras installed with absolutely zero access to them. The tech has set up appointments and repeatedly canceled. I have absolutely no way of accessing the cameras despite the fact that I’ve been paying the bill for the past 10 months. This is theft and is absolutely criminal.

ADT bought the company I was with. So, I have been with them for about 15 years. The customer service was the same, and the price I paid went down a little bit. They upgraded my landline to wireless, and it seems to be working well.
But they've been inconsistent whenever I've had a false alarm. Sometimes they call, but the last one I had might have been a text.

Having ADT has been wonderful because we haven’t had any issues with the service, even when the alarm unexpectedly went off. The only thing is every time I access my mobile app, and turn the alarm off, it notifies my husband. To me, that’s a throwback to the 1950s when the husband had to know everything his wife was doing. But we haven’t had any problems with ADT, and the price is reasonable.

ADT was the only one I knew that existed, and the price was high, but I’ve had it for the last three years. Customer service is not the greatest, but it’s okay. One of my cameras was having problems, and they told me it wasn’t the camera, but it had something to do with my internet. I called several times until they sent someone out here to replace my camera, and everything was working fine after that. So, I didn’t have to buy an extra internet extender because I had good signal all along.

We have the ADT with the Google doorbell and from the start there was problems. Smoke detector would beep constantly, one day it thought there was a fire and the alarms went off at night waking everyone. Had to replace the doorbell once and one of the carbon monoxide detectors had to be unplugged due to its beeping every 8 minutes. We signed a contract and are trapped with this system that is faulty and ADT only services items for free within the first 60 days. I should have gone with a better system from the get go but I trusted the ADT brand and realized the equipment is subpar and faulty which is a big concern when it comes to home security and safety. While writing this review the smoke detector went off briefly then stopped because it mistakenly detected smoke and immediately reported no smoke… I wish I would have went with another company!

ADT has been the worst system that I have ever encountered in my life. The video cameras have 6000 clips but they run out by the middle of the month so that means that there’s no more recordings on any of the cameras or the doorbell cameras because it’s running out Anytime a bird fly pass, if the wind is blowing too much, if a curtain blow, if there’s a spider anywhere, and not to even mention, my ex-husband was able to get inside this house. Bypassed that alarm. If it hadn’t been for the neighbors to call the police, I could’ve been in real danger. If I can leave zero stars, I would’ve left zero stars for ADT.

Their warranty is set very scam-like. I have the Google Doorbell Cam, which I'm still paying. It stopped working, so I called support, they did a video tech service determined it did not work. Instead of just returning the cam or replacing the cam, they require a tech to come out and "check it out". The tech visit is mandatory for replacing their busted device that I'm still paying for, and they charge $99 just to show up. I'm not allowed to replace or return the busted device, I either keep the busted device or pay for "tech service" to get it replaced, even though I HAVE WARRANTY. It's absolutely ridiculous.

ADT admitted to installing a faulty sensor that the battery dies at least once a week. Called their customer service and they said that it was my issue. System is less than 6 months old and there has been more times when something has been wrong then there has been things working correctly.

Install team upsold us and we paid in full, but they never returned to install the equipment we paid for. The equipment they did install malfunctions regularly and now isn't working at all. We called for service and they told us we had a $1400+ balance. We investigated and this amount was incorrectly charged to us. Account rep admitted that ADT "dropped the ball" but said we still need to pay the $1400. He also said we can't get out of the contract without paying balance of $3,300 for remaining 3 years. He said if we don't pay, it will affect our credit rating. Meanwhile, they are not monitoring our home, so we have no security. We are 20+ year customer being treated this way.

I cannot stand this company. My wife wanted to try an alarm so we signed up for ADT since there was equipment already installed when we purchased the house. She was there for a month before I got our previous house packed and moved. I have a working line GSD so once I moved and found the area of town where we purchased a house is one of the most desirable sections of town. Police routinely patrolled our area and upon calling them for a medical emergency, their response time was less than 2.5 minutes. I felt very safe and called to cancel. I was told I signed a 3 year agreement and had to pay a huge fine to cancel. If I would have been aware that I couldn't cancel with out financial impact, there is no way i would have signed up. It would have been justified if I had them install all their equipment but I didn't. My family was with them for years and their bill increased every year.
When my Father called to cancel, they offered him a much better price. He told them that if his business mattered that much, why did it take the threat of cancellation to get a better deal. He cancelled and now loves his new company where he got upgraded equipment and monthly monitoring for half the price of ADT. Beware of these long contracts. Not only will I not EVER recommend ADT, I will let everyone I know of my terrible experience with them. They even contacted me and tried to get me to take down reviews but nope. If you look at Facebook and reddit alone, you will find so many people with the same experience as me.

Minimal security for $600 a year. They make trying to cancel, even after a 3 year contract term, virtually impossible. They will string you along and pass you to various steps and departments, for a simple service of cancelling to try to ensnare customers. Deceptive business practices.

I am very disappointed in ADT. We decided to purchase a security system, and before purchasing, I informed them that we would be moving after about a month. I was assured that I would be able to take my equipment and have it reinstalled once we moved. Unfortunately, when we relocated, our new home did not have fiber internet, which means the $3,000 worth of equipment I purchased just a month ago cannot even be supported at my new residence.
ADT’s solution was to cancel my existing contract and require me to purchase entirely new cellular-based equipment. Even though my monitoring contract has been canceled, I am still expected to pay the $3,000 in full, with no option to return the equipment I can’t even use. To make matters worse, I cannot even access my Yale door lock because ADT restricts user access through their app only.
ADT really knows how to treat its veterans. Sadly, this is not the first time we have had issues with ADT, but we decided to give them another chance. That was a mistake. My warning: Stay clear of ADT. In the future, we will likely use Vivint, as I have heard nothing but positive experiences from friends and family who use their service. Overall, I feel devastated by how this situation was handled. I will be contacting the military community to warn fellow service members about ADT’s practices, and I plan to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau for false advertising and misrepresentation.

ADT always tries to get me to do the running so they don't have to come out. I don't like that. They say I can fix a lot of things myself, but it requires me running up and down the steps. And when I tell them it doesn't work, they want me to do something else. I gotta run up and down the steps again. So, I try to bypass all that and tell them to send somebody out here because it never works anyway. They need to listen when I tell them that one device is in the garage, the other device is on the third floor, and stop having me run up and down steps. Just say, "Okay."

Worst company in the world!!! Charged me not once but twice without my knowledge or giving me any form of notification. ABSOLUTELY the worst mistake I’ve ever made signing up with this company, I’m stuck with another 4 years with this awful company.

Our experience with ADT has been very poor. We had used ADT service before the Google connection in another home and was satisfied. It appears that since the Google relationship has occurred the quality and service have gone downhill. We have had our system for one year, since then we have had to deal with the following issues: We had to have the panel in our bedroom removed as they complete updates regularly in the middle of the night that results in us being woken up. We had to have the thermostat removed and replaced with a normal thermostat as the system kept taking over and not allowing our A/C system to work effectively. Even had a company representative acknowledge this issue and that they had it removed from their own home. We have had to replace the doorbell camera as it broke in the process of the need to charge it.
We also had the service team come back to put up smoke detectors that were removed during a renovation project and bagged. When they came back they put up four of the five we had and said we didn’t need the added coverage, at that time I had agreed. My husband said while we have ADT coming back in to replace the doorbell camera at our cost, why not reinstall the smoke detectors. Turns out that it is not operable and needs to replaced. The prior team never said this. Again, being asked to pay for replacement of equipment that appears to be subpar.
The fact that this company locks you quickly into long term contracts that you can’t get out of and that you will have to pay substantially to get out early is very deceiving. They do not spend enough time going through the terms and they also do not do a very good job training on the system, quick install and exit. This results in the consumer not fully understanding both the full terms of the agreements and also the best way to handle and manage the system. Very disappointment and wish we had never made the decision to go with ADT but feel locked in.

Have to leave a start in order to leave a review! Do not go with this company! They don’t care if your cameras work properly and when you cancel even if you haven’t had there service they will still charge you and give you the run around and then tell you to call back after 25days so you account can close to get your refund and when you call back they won’t give you a refund! This is the worst service I’ve had from a security company! Even when there customer service gives you wrong information and the run around about closing out your account you still get charged! Your customer service said I would get my refund and now you guys are saying isn’t against company policy since I canceled! Do better.

ADT does not accept responsibility for their FAULTY EQUIPMENT, SERVICE CHARGES related to repairing their FAULTY EQUIPMENT, charges for REPLACEMENT of FAULTY EQUIPMENT, and disputes resulting from all of the above. If you can understand the phone employees, and make your request for help acknowledged, they instruct you on how to change a battery and offer you free yard signs. We had 5 service calls after installation. I disputed with the company and my bank for removing the subsequent charges, and did not receive compensation until this week (5/15- installation, 6/10, 6/24, 7/11, 8/19, 9/24). We regret signing the contract with ADT.

The worst service I ever had. The alarms they supplied would go off during the middle of the night & it was in a assisted living facility & I would get woke up by a rep from ADT calling me & I would have to call the manager to see if everything was ok. Then I cancelled the service & of course they kept calling me because I cancelled their service. I told them I wouldn't give them this horrible review if they would wipe out the bill but they wanted their money. Please don't use them or you will be sorry.

ADT employee or contractor person scheduled an appointment with me for Sunday, September 28, 2025 at 4:00 p.m. to complete a door bell cam and an auxiliary camera installation. I received a call from ** at 2:47 p.m. I answered the phone and said hello twice with no response on the other end. I hung up the phone. I received another phone call at 3:15 p.m. from the same number. I didn’t pick up the phone. The name which showed up on my phone was Bessie ** which is the caller ID that usually shows up from Kevin **. My time is just as valuable as his.

I no longer need ADT's service and was hoping to cancel. I then found out that I am locked into a 36 month contract and would have to pay over $2000 to extricate myself from the contract. Again, I don't want the service. It is my fault for not knowing that I was committed to a 36 month term. Regardless, I feel like I am being held hostage. I will never deal with ADT again ...

I have had a truly terrible experience with ADT. They set me up with two separate contracts by mistake. For the past two years, I have been trying to get this issue resolved, reaching out so many times and escalating through every channel possible. Despite my persistence, ADT refused to take accountability or correct their error.
Instead of resolving the duplicate accounts, they continued to charge me and ultimately forced me to pay fees to close both contracts, even though one should never have existed in the first place. The lack of customer support, accountability, and basic fairness has been extremely frustrating. After this long, drawn-out ordeal, I can confidently say I would never recommend ADT to anyone. If you value honest business practices and customer support, look elsewhere.

I been with ADT for 10 months. They canceled my account for something they did then took money from me for it then tried to exploit me for money and more money to fix their mistake. So unorganize. Nobody know how to do anything or who to go to. You will be waiting on the phone being transferred to different departments, con you into thinking you need all this stuff but don't just to get money from you. No integrity whatsoever. This is not the company I want to look out for me and my family do you.

I signed up with ADT and only needed their services for a year and six months because I sold my house. It was extremely difficult to cancel and took many frustrating phone calls to finally get it resolved. The early termination fees are excessive. I received, at least, six phone calls from ADT reps wanting me to transfer to my new house. I told each of them NO and to put my phone number on a do not call but they continued to harass me. Do your research and know everything in your contract because ADT is super expensive and traps you into large fees if you try to cancel. I will never use their service again and highly recommend you carefully learn their practices, pricing, and high pressure sales to get your money. I'm a HARD NO for ever contacting them again.

Horrible software. It alerts you that someone is at the door, then when you open the alert, the cameras won’t load. By the time they finally load, the person at the door is gone. Doorbell recently stopped working due to needing a software update. ADT charged us $60 to come out and update their software. Also continuously tries to get us to sign a new contract even though their service has been horrible. I advise looking for a different security company. ADT is not the one.

ADT has very poor communication, horrible customer service, they do not call back after calling multiple times and then lie and say they attempted to call and left a voicemail but there is no voicemail. I had service at another location that I was paying for full service but apparently did not have the "full" service equipment, I moved and wanted to transfer my services, the sales rep said no problem your all set. The day I was supposed to have transfer service the installer comes and is clueless that it was for a transfer, he had it as a new service. After him speaking to his management team he states he had it all handled, and he was the one that told me I was paying for the full service and equipment that I should of had the carbon monoxide detectors and glass break detectors and door keypad, so I was like oh ok cool if I've been paying for them yeah.
WELL, I get my bill and I was being charged for pervious location still and current location, AND now paying for devices I was NOT paying for before, and did not ask for or want! Technically my new address is a "new" service and they say they have a 6 month money back guarantee, but they lie on that too, its only for if a service tech comes out 3 times and the issue isn't resolved, not for a customer that calls 3 times about an account issue that isn't resolved and they don't call back or have someone that can handle the problem when you call doesn't count. Now to cancel my services, because I am still under contract I have to pay an early termination fee. If I did not called and point out that they were still charging me for my last location I'd still be getting charged for two locations. Also they gave me devices they stated I should of had and now I am paying for them when I did not want them. It is all a Scam!!

Terrible customer care!!!! All they want to do is sell you a new system. From the moment he walked in he announce he would not be able to repair the issue and that I needed to sign a contract. Tech had the audacity to ask me if I knew why the trouble light was on. Obviously if I knew I would not new a tech. These people are into selling new contracts. Don't waste your time.

I will never use ADT again. 90 of the time I paid for mine they did not work due to faulty cameras. The cameras are not warrantied very long and at best they will only give you 25% off new cameras. They just want your money and not very willing help. I would give zero stars if it was a option.

ADT has the worst customer service. We’ve had their service since 2014 and whenever there is trouble, customer service is just not there today. I have a tech Anna come out to the house to troubleshoot some issues. She was wonderful. We found out that the sensors that were replaced back in February 2025 were the incorrect sensors. We should’ve had shock sensors. ADT refuses to replace them without charging us $2500. The manager that I spoke to Aaron ** was extremely rude to me. If you were thinking about getting ADT in New Hampshire you would have to deal with him. We will be canceling our contract with them.

I called AT&T to buy it out on September 2. I paid it off on September 12. I keep getting transferred, everybody saying that I still owe money after I have everything paid. Everything is paid off then they hang up on me. They keep transferring to everybody they tell me it was closed out. They won’t send me an email saying it’s closed out. They’re trying to charge me another month when I don’t even have ADT anymore. This is a horrible company. Customer service is terrible. All they do is transfer you to everybody. I have copies that the buyout was paid off and they still won’t listen to me have 30 days. Well it’s already been past 30 days then they charge me another extra month.
When I called on 2 September, I told him to close it I bought I paid it off. I bought it out. It still not resolve yet if I could give a zero I would one star is not even good enough for them. Don’t go to ADT. They’re horrible. And they already took the money. I even have copies of it. Stay away from ADT. When I did have an alarm go off and they would never call the cameras weren’t working. They’re just terrible.

The absolute worst customer experience I’ve ever had in my life. The return window is only 3 days, which isn’t even enough time to properly test a product. I spent over $3,000 with them, and when one of my products started showing an error, they wanted to charge me just to come back and look at it (within 15 days). I asked them to just cancel in general and that came with so many fees.
The customer support line doesn’t answer or leaves you on hold indefinitely. The doorbell battery lasts only 3 days, and the glass break monitors mistake doors slamming for actual glass breaking. On top of that—hidden fees, no real help, and I’ve only been a customer for 30 days. I am extremely upset and regret ever signing up with them. Do not—DO NOT—go with Ring or anywhere else tied to them. As I currently sit on hold with them and get transferred between all departments.

I went out on the Internet looking for a security system. The supervisor I got said everything was free. But when they got here, they stuck the stuff on every one of the 7 windows I have and it cost me $1,600 to install it, so it was not free. At the time, I had a patio door. They put it on both sides, even though 1 side didn't open. But I feel secure with having the system. If you even tap a window or mess with it, it'll trip the alarm system. There was one time it got accidentally set off, and the police were here right away.
I set the alarm on my phone at night. The only thing is I had a doorbell installed, and it picked up every car that went by, so it pinged my phone constantly. Then we had a flag on the front porch. It was hanging. Every time the wind blew, it pings, so I asked them to take it off. One lady I spoke to said they were gonna try to take that camera doorbell, but she said I had already paid for it. When the kid came to take it, I told him I was keeping it. He said he had to take it back and he had another one in his truck. They left it here, and the doorbell would ring except when I had to get a new modem installed, I couldn't get it hooked up right to the Wi-Fi. That blue ring lit up red at night. That wasn't cool. I didn't want a red light on my door.
We took it off and stuck the old doorbell back on, but of course now I have holes in my siding. I got a text message from them saying they were gonna come out. They were gonna try to get me to upgrade and charge me more. When I asked them where they were coming from, they said Kentucky. They had no idea I am in Ohio. We canceled that appointment and they called back because they wanted to set another one. I told them if they're just calling me to upgrade my system and raise my rates, then don't bother coming out. I'm paying 43.86 a month and with the doorbell, it was 60 some dollars, but that doorbell drove me crazy.
In the beginning, I couldn't get through customer service. The last time, I had a new patio door put in, and I kept calling them to try to find out how to reinstall these things and to get the monitor to stop because it'll beep constantly. They got that, but it had to be done over the phone. They wouldn't send anybody out.

ADT was transferred from the previous company before, which was since 2006, and the customer service is really good these days. The only thing is it's gotten a little expensive to have them come over and check on a camera if it's bad. It's costing a little. Other than that, ADT has been a great company to work with. I'd tell people to go right ahead with them.

My fire alarm and smoke alarm are sensitive. I can't make gravy. I've learned how to pour the water and cover it real fast. But outside of that, ADT is great. I like that I can talk to people on my front porch through the system. I talk to my cats out there too. I also like that I can control my air conditioner. If I get too cold, I can just turn it off wherever I am. I have all kinds of features on there. If I get sick, I can push a button, and somebody comes. The alarm screams if I open the back door accidentally. It is loud. They call immediately and I've experienced the fire department coming. I like the service. They're really thorough. I'm 65 and I can't remember anything but they remind me. They're patient and educated as well. Also, ADT is inexpensive. The price is under $100 and I like that because I'm on a fixed income. I feel secure having ADT and I'd tell people about it.

ADT is the only security company that I'm fond of. I worked for LAPD for 35 years and one of my jobs and responsibilities was if an alarm went off on a house and the police had to go out but they couldn't get the subscriber, they would have somebody in their dispatch center call. I found in listening to the other operators around us that ADT is the most popular. They are the nicest. They are concise as well. I was at the dentist's office, which is some miles away from my house, and I didn't realize I had turned on the alarm at the house. They called me and I told them everything. I would refer ADT to anybody in the world. I had an incident in my other house where somebody broke in. I didn't have the money to replace the system. I went to one of the top guys at ADT and he fixed my problem. I get a first responders’ discount with them as well.

I've been with ADT for four years. I had ADT with our other house. I got my glass breakage with a low battery coming up on mine. I had to have people come put the battery in because they are difficult. Talking to reps can be iffy. They should be more respectful. It's like we're the customer, they're the employer. I don't know anything about security systems, so I have to ask questions. Sometimes, they get snotty when they got to answer. But the service techs that come out are nice.

I've been with ADT for 24 years. They've been great for us. At one point, I thought of not having any kind of an alarm. But I stayed. They made it worth my while. Any time I've had to call with anything, they have always been helpful and easy to get information. Also, I love being able to work everything from my phone.

We've been with ADT for over 10 years. Whenever they bought Brinks out, we moved over. We had issues and ADT came to look at the equipment. They said, “It's old. We need to update it.” We just updated it again. When we upgraded, we spoke to one sales person. They set us a date, and we had a random sales person from the area call us and give us another date so he would take it over. They came out, handled everything fine, but I started getting messages somebody would come on the initial date. So, there was no internal communication that we've had it upgraded. When I called the sales guy, he said, “Yeah, you'll get that. I'll take care of it.” But he didn't, so it took me several phone calls to get the new one canceled. Other than that, we love our system. It's easy to use.

RUN AWAY FROM ADT. I was with them for three years and anytime their device is faulty, they will charge you to come fix it. The worst part of it, I told them I want to cancel and I was told all my device will not be working again after paying close to a $1000 for them. No wonder I am about the only one using them in my neighborhood.

ADT was already in the house when we bought it and we've had it three years. The customer service has been very good and the technicians have been fantastic. The only thing is the salespeople sometimes sell too much, which they're supposed to do, but I've been around the block. Still, I recommend the service. It's been good.

When our previous security company went out of business, we picked ADT and we've been using them for about 4 years now. They've been great. They're very prompt and their support systems are good. You can call them on the phone, and get your problems rectified right away. They come to the house and take care of everything. If I need a part 'cause we're changing out a window, they send it properly. The instructions are easy to read. I'm very satisfied with ADT and I'd recommend them.

Do NOT get ADT. Signing a contract with them is like signing your soul away. I got ADT 2 weeks after we moved in. It worked for 1 week and hasn’t worked for the past 3 months since. They have cancelled 6 service jobs to come fix it, but still expect me to pay almost $100 a month for the system. Now the alarm is going off in the middle of the night randomly. Waking me up. They said it would cost me $1500 to break my contract, even though it hasn’t worked since it was installed and they haven’t come out to fix it. They even put in the contract that they are not responsible for fixing anything in a timely manner or for any delays/ pauses in service. So I either pay $1500 to stop getting woke up every night to the system saying “error,” or I pay $100 a month to still get woken up in the middle of the night.

Getting ADT was a good idea for me to do because I have kids in my house and it's good for me, too. Getting everything started was good. I talked to someone over the phone and after that, they came to my house. The installation went quick and easy. They showed me how to use everything.

Having ADT was worth the money. It's not expensive. The system is very easy to use. It’s intuitive. I use the app all the time and it's easy to use, too. I've been with ADT for 10 years and the customer service has been fine.

I had ADT at my other house, and I've had it in the house I'm at now for 19 years. I've had them for probably 40 years in total. I like that I don't have to change to the modern system because mine is old-fashioned. When my husband passed away, they put the system in my name. When the man came to recheck my system when I changed from my husband's name to my name, he was thorough and very helpful.

I had ADT installed in a condo of mine years ago. Then I bought a place in Florida, which was a vacation home and I also put ADT there. I had somebody else when we lived in Alabama but when we came back here to Florida, that company wasn't available so I went back to ADT. We bought a house that was already hardwired, and it was fairly easy for ADT to take it on. Otherwise, I probably would have gone with SimpliSafe 'cause it's much easier.
The ADT system seems to work pretty well. I like the old cameras that they had that were directly tied into their systems. But now, they've gone with these Google Nest things which I think are useless. But other than those, ADT has been good. I have to replace the battery in the main control panel at some frequency but as long as I buy the right battery, that's not that big of a deal. ADT customer service is good as well. Sometimes, I get somebody that's not as knowledgeable. But eventually, if I ask enough questions, they get me to the right person. As for the price, I've paid a whole bunch for a long time but when I called and complained, they re-evaluated my system and marked it down.

When I purchased a home about four years ago, the previous homeowner had ADT home security system in the house and I continued the service. I contacted ADT and told them the previous owner had them, but they canceled all those services when they moved and I wanted it renewed. ADT had a team out there quickly. They went through the whole process and the service techs were great. I had a few questions and issues I wanted to make sure were covered and they made sure that I was totally 100% satisfied before they left.
ADT provides excellent service. I had a battery that went dead and they told me the process to get that ordered, shipped in and installed. They took care of any questions that I had and everything went smooth. They're very reasonably priced as well. It's a bang for your buck and it's the best home security system out there. We're very fortunate to have ADT.

ADT was cheaper than the other home security companies. I was told that the system did certain things that I was looking for, but it didn't. I was told that I could pause and rewind on my live feed, and I cannot. It takes a video clip. I don't want the video clip. I wanna be able to go back on my live feed. So, I was told that the system did things that it didn't. After I got the system, I've had nothing but problems with it. I'm not happy with the service. I've had technicians out three times already to fix equipment that's failed. The technicians were great and knowledgeable. I've tried to get ADT to cancel my service because I was told that it did things that it didn't. The only thing they could do to better their service is to upgrade their system.

ADT acquired our existing alarm system provider, NorthStar. Since the transition, I've been using ADT services for almost a year. We had some changes after they took over our system because the panel no longer functioned. They put a new panel in, and there were some of the sensors in our home that were no longer compatible with their newer system that needed to be replaced. Fortunately, we were under a service agreement, so we did not have to pay for any of that.
They tried the self-diagnostic over the phone with the technician, which was a little overkill to discover that the panel was indeed dead. I wasn't some 95-year-old grandmother who didn't understand what was going on. I'm tech-savvy, and I could tell the panel was DOA. It took a week for them to send somebody out to replace the panel. And when the technician came out, he discovered that the panel was no longer repairable. That was when the determination was made to go ahead and replace the panel with a new one.
The app that I had was very feature-rich. It had a great user interface. It was intuitive and easy to work with. But it wasn't working anymore. So, I contacted customer service, and they said, "We're not using that version anymore. We're using ADT Connect," which is a soup kitchen slap together, 9th-grade coding project alarm program. It lost all of its intuitiveness. It still does somewhat of the same functions, but not nearly as the fluidity that the previous one offered was much better. It was a complete and utter downgrade from what I was used to. Using the ADT Connect was six steps back. ADT should put that original app back where it rightfully belongs. It was much better.

When we moved in, there was some other security service in the house. ADT bought them and our service with them for several years now has been fine. The window, door, fire, and alarm systems seem to be okay. I had a problem with the alarm going off which turned out to be a battery issue. Apparently, one of the control boxes became slightly separated where it connects to the wall mount. We did a video call with a technician and that was very helpful. They talked me through it and resolved it.

ADT is what I know, is what's convenient, and it is what has worked. If the glass gets shattered, that will automatically kick off. I have an auto kick-off if that front door opens to my house. I've done the alarm in the morning, and I forgot the thing automatically kicks off at the front door. The features built into the system meet my needs.
Their website was not as much user-friendly as it was the call-in number. I tried to test my system, and it told me this number to call. When I called the number to try to test the system, it was not easy for me to navigate. So, I never got my system tested. Shortly after that, ADT sent me a message asking if I could rate their service. I didn't go there because I was not pleased with that interaction. Other thant that, I like the overall security. I've never been with a security company until my house was broken into. When it was broken into, which is when I started my contract with ADT, they were very responsive. They came out and helped guide me through what would make my house the most secure.

Grab ADT and run with it. When we moved in, it came with the upgrade on the burglar alarm system. It was free. It has been working good, especially when we go out of town. We can always check on the house. I went to Florida and checked on the house, and it kicked right in. I'm impressed with it. We have some friends who jumped on it when they saw what we were doing with it.

We got our security system at the beginning of June. We thought they were the top one sercurity but now I think they're number 10. Reasoning being we’ve called them multiple times about our system being compromised and they never called us. We will never go with them again.

I’ve had ADT for 5 years and it has been nothing but a nightmare. From the beginning, I’ve had constant camera issues. Their tech came out multiple times (at least 3) and kept blaming my internet. I upgraded my internet, still the same problems. Then they said it was because of my metal screen door. I removed it—guess what? Same problems. One camera never worked at all, and their Skybell was absolutely useless. When it actually connected, it was always too late—the person would already be leaving.
On top of the equipment failures, cancelling has been an even bigger nightmare. I cancelled in August, yet they still charged me for September. When I called, I got bounced around from department to department, wasting over an hour of my time with no resolution. For the price you pay, the service and support are beyond disappointing. Save yourself the headache and go with a different company.

I'm happy with my service. They really haven't had to come do anything except they've sent me new signs and we've had to order a battery one time. They got it installed, and I hadn't had any problems with it. ADT has been good for me. We've had ADT for years and I still got the original system, and that's all I need. I have the key fob and I like it. The little thing broke, so I can't put it on my keychain anymore, but I've got it in my purse. I use that to disarm the system so I don't have to disarm it every time.
The only thing is I have concerns with my mother's service. She is also a widow, she's 83, and she has dementia now. Not that long ago, she had a problem with her system. So, ADT came out and they talked her into buying another whole system. It's very expensive and complicated. I don't feel they did her right. I still have the same system as her old one. They should have just fixed her current problem, but they acted like her system was outdated and she needed this big new fancy one. She can't operate it now. The alarm went off last Saturday. She accidentally set it off. She turned around quickly to go turn it off, and she fell and hit her head. Emergency responders had to come out. She pressed her life alert button. We got out there. We had to take her to the emergency room. It was a horrible experience.
Two days later, she was gonna disarm it for the day. She accidentally did the fire alarm. I had them calling me to know if they need to dispatch the fire truck. She set it off numerous times. It is stressing her. I called ADT, stayed on the phone a long time with them here just a few days ago this week, trying to do a hardship case to get her out of her contract, and they would not do it. They said the only way she could get out of it, is if she went to assisted living and we sent them the proof, or if somebody wanted to buy her system. Nobody wants it. It’s too expensive. They said it would cost about $6,000 for equipment and contract for her to get out of it. She's about ready to call her lawyer or the Better Business Bureau to see what can be done because they really took advantage of an elderly lady and suckered her into this big fancy system that she doesn't understand how to operate or need.

We had just gotten a house here in Sumter and an ADT representative came by. His name is Ronnie, and he was great towards us. The tech that came and installed the system was really respectful and polite. We had dogs and one of our dogs wanted to see what was going on. He took a few minutes out and he was loving on them. The system has been really good. When I'm out and about, I can use the app on my phone to get the system going. I'd recommend ADT. The one thing about the pricing is I wish that it would be all in one price. I have to pay $70 and something then I pay a $24 and 90 cents fee for monitoring. But all in all, I've have no qualms.

I had a monitoring system at my previous address and when I moved two years ago, an ADT representative came to my door to pitch their service. The same company, ADT, owns the same monitoring company that owns my other system. The installation went great, although the first Nest that they insisted I put in my thermostat for six months that I had trouble with turned out to be outdated, so that was a big bummer.
Being an old lady and technically challenged on that kind of crap, I threw my hands up and wanted to install my old thermostat. When ADT said they would send somebody out but I may be charged, I got a refund. I said I didn't care if they would charge me. I needed my thermostat fixed. Trying to sign into and log into a brand-new account now has been challenging. It won't even let me get into my system now. It says my login is not correct. But I never changed anything, so I don't understand. Other than that, it has now all been working fine.

I love ADT. It's easy to set and not set and unset or arm and disarm. I let my sister have a code to get in. I can see whenever she might come in or out. I can look back on the information that's in my ADT, like how often my front and back door open. When I'm away, I wanna know if anybody came in my house and maybe the alarm didn't work. I like to look, because I live alone and that's important to me. Also, if you turn the system off from the machine, it takes your picture.
When the battery starts to go, it will beep and beep every 5 or 10 minutes. Sometimes ADT doesn't have those batteries. And where I live, you can't get them that day. You have to order them. So, that beeping will continue. It's an irritant. I wish there was some way to turn that beep off until I can switch batteries. I understand why they do it, but I wish I could manually turn it off for 24 hours. I've been lucky enough to be able to change batteries quickly. It could be a problem when I go to sleep.

We're very happy with ADT. The system is very low maintenance and it's very easy to use. We have the peace of mind and satisfaction of having that security. It works for us. We have the sensor on all our doors and windows. If I'm here by myself, and if the door window opens, I can set the time so I can hear it. We had an issue where we couldn't set the alarm because there was a low battery somewhere but I couldn't figure out where it was. They were very good to let us know how to fix it. But we couldn't fix it, so they sent somebody out to do it.

ADT recently upgraded our system, adding new switches, pads, and capabilities. We were pleased with the work they did. The guy who was here was very professional. He did good work. He explained all of the systems, alarms and various things he installed. We have had opportunities to call ADT for services, diagnostics, and batteries. When we bought the house, which is now going on 10 years, ADT previously had handled the previous owners but the system had been turned off. I researched two or three systems and I really liked what ADT was doing so I had them come in and reactivate everything for us. The only problem that I've had in that time was that, occasionally, the cameras would stop recording clips for a while. But any time I've called ADT, they've been able to reset them.
Having ADT, I like being able to call it up and look at it on my phone if I'm not at home. I would be happy to recommend them to somebody else. I've had good luck with them. Any time I've ever called, sometimes depending on what's going on, it may take a while, but they've always been able to resolve it. It's too bad that they're not offering a discount for this but I'm satisfied with what I'm getting. My homeowner's insurance is fractionally lower because I have the security system.

I've had a wonderful experience with ADT, except that somebody charged me a thousand something dollars when I was told the stuff was free. The charge just showed up several months later and I thought someone stole my identity. I didn't authorize the charge and I didn't know anything about it. The first thing I did was call the credit card company, Experian and shut down all three of my credit bureaus. Experian and the credit card company took the charge off. I also talked to ADT yesterday and they are gonna take care of it. Everything else works good. The system gives me a really good sense of security. I'm on 2.72 acres and even though this area is very quiet, it's very dark inside, and I feel secure at night when I have it on. Overall, ADT is a great service.

The installation of my ADT system was a while back, but they were very prompt and got it done and got me all set up and showed me how to use the system. They helped me set up the app on my phone. I use that app all the time to check and make sure I'm not having any craziness going on after hours. That app is excellent. I like the support from ADT's people. Whenever I have a problem, I can call them and figure out what I need to do. My camera isn't that great. I need to probably call them and figure out what to do about that. Also, they keep doing price increases. So, if they go up again, I'll probably have to look and go to somebody else. The price started out really good. It's getting too pricey now to have a security system.

ADT has been great. The company that ADT uses to do all their installations was good as well. They came up from Tampa, took care of everything and gave me some lessons on how to use it. The thing I like more than anything else is that I can set it and unset it using my phone. My old system in Carolina didn't have that feature. ADT's customer service is very good as well. I had an issue and went online. They hooked me up with the guy who called and helped, and we walked through it and fixed it. There was some things that weren't real clear online, but other than that, the system works very well. Their price is also very comparable to the system I had in Carolina.

I was with Protection 1 and they put my system in, and then ADT took them over. That was a long time ago and I've updated my number to the cellphone that I use. I found out that my home phone number, which was a landline, was the number they were using, so I changed that. I've had a very good experience with the ADT reps.

I had fired ADT but I rehired them back. They gave me a better deal and updated equipment. I got the cameras and the Google Nest, and the service has been great. The pricing could be lower though. Also, they told me they were gonna send me a gift card because I went back to them but they never sent it.

ADT is a scam company, DO NOT GET ADT! I was with them for 17 years, my system started giving false alarms. I had to pay to have a tech come out and tell me there was nothing wrong with the system, even though the false alarms continued. I called to cancel and spoke to the nastiest woman I have ever encountered in July. ADT then billed me in Aug. I called and they claimed it takes 30 days to shut down (BS). They then billed me again and said I was under contract, I HAD NO CONTRACT FOR 16 YEARS. ADT IS A HORRIBLE, USELESS COMPANY.

They are scammers. They went into my account without authorization and withdraw $555 and refuse to return it saying I cancelled on them after selling my house. They refused to wait for my new address so they saved my card information and went into my account.

ADT - do better with customer service. You had our business, until you proved your customer service is lacking! I fully appreciate your employees caring about each other's commission and ensuring they all get their share of commissions and I appreciate how nice all your reps are.... But when your employees make a customer fully aware that their commission is more important that the customer needs you have a problem. A customer should NOT have to go through 1 hour of hold time, speak to 5 reps with MAYBE a total of 20 minutes speaking time to get the full cost of their equipment before install. A customer should not have to wait until the install to find out how much their system is going to cost.
Your policies are guided to help your commission employees more than your customer. Your policies give me the impression of "strong arm techniques" because you know people are less likely to cancel when the tech is there in person. You are not giving your customers the best care you can. Your employees were so concerned with the install tech getting commission from sales that they were basically refusing to give me the full equipment total, because, and I quote directly from the initial sales rep, "I intentionally leave items off the system so that the install tech can earn commission selling it to you". (this rep left off 11 items at $50 each and 1 item at $200 each - so it wasn't a small amount).
I was later told this rep should not have presented it to me that way and reworded it to sound better, but still said the same thing. And this wasn't just that employee, because the next 4 reps I spoke with chose to transfer me to another tech or just transfer me back to the menu. The 5th rep was finally able/willing to get me the numbers I needed, but they had to cancel my previous quote and start over including credit check and obtaining my payment method. By that point I was so stressed that I just cancelled the whole install. If this was the level of stress I had to go through BEFORE install, I was afraid what kind of stress I would have to go through for service calls or anything else.
ADT, at the end of the day, your pricing and equipment cost is basically the same as your competitors. Customers are likely deciding between you and another company based on your equipment being "google" and your customer service. You lost a customer because you made me feel 2nd to commission. You made the customer feel like employee commission was more important than customer care. Maybe just pay your employees better and then your customer service can improve.

Review of ADT Service. We’ve had ADT for 5 years, and our experience has been extremely disappointing from the very beginning. When the service was sold to us, the representative assured us that if we were unhappy, we could cancel within 3 months. After installation, we immediately faced issues that were never fully resolved. When we tried to cancel within that 3-month window, we were told such a policy did not exist and that we were locked into a 5-year contract. If we canceled early, we would be required to pay for all 5 years upfront. We felt misled but had no choice but to continue.
Later, when our camera stopped working, the service team informed us that if they even touched the equipment, we’d be charged a service fee of several hundred dollars—on top of the monthly subscription and equipment costs. Since then, the camera has never worked, and ADT refused to take responsibility without charging extra. To make matters worse, when I called today to finally cancel our service, the representative hung up on me out of frustration. That was the final straw. ADT has been a waste of money, time, and energy. Their business practices feel deceptive, and their customer support is unacceptable. I had multiple issues with the equipment. Anytime I needed to replace a battery on a sensor or a detector, the main unit would not clear the fault. I would have to call ADT to have a technician come out. The solution was to remove the control unit off the wall, remove the battery and hook the battery back up. I learned how to do the steps myself. However, the last time a technician came out they installed a screw into the panel that I could not remove.
My last experience was horrible. A smoke detector went bad. I replaced a battery but it did not fix the problem. I talked to a technician over the phone and they didn’t even ask the age of my smoke detector. They tried to do a software reset of my system and wiped out all of my zones. Another technician came out three days later and reprogrammed all of the zones. He also recognized the age of the detector and replaced it. I called ADT to discuss my experience and asked for a supervisor. I never got a chance to speak with one. I decided to cancel the service. I still got a prorated bill the next month for 18 days of service with no credit for the three days of outage.

I have been with for several years at different homes and past over 5 years have been over charged they had set me up 2 accounts should only be 1 and I just overlook on visa amount I just kept paying. Well then I thought about switch since Bill been so high and friend of mine said that is Double what she pays. So I called July 2025 and still not getting satisfactory results. They closed 2nd account but have major credit due back but as of today call have wait another 2 weeks to possibly get results. It's ridiculous. If I owed I would been cancel but with ya owe me it should be resolved ASAP. Not keep put me off. I am easy go person but enough already. You can settle quicker if you want. I just want ck refund or back credit on visa

As a recently divorce woman, ADT failed me. I called ADT 3 times to change the contract under my name and was told every time that it was done, but it was never completed. When I went out of town, my ex broke into my house. Called ADT and changed the security word, pass code and locked me out of the online account. He had no right to do that, but ADT allowed him, because the contract was still in their system as being under his name. When I called them to ask how that was possible, they told me a form was not signed. Not once in my previous interactions a representative mentioned any forms. Never again I will do business with ADT.

I am extremely disappointed with ADT’s business practices. Over the phone, I was told very clearly that there would be no installation cost. However, when the technician arrived to do the install and go over products with us, he suddenly tried to charge us astronomical pricing. This is a classic bait and switch tactic—luring customers in with false promises, then hitting them with hidden costs once they’ve already invested their time. It felt dishonest and misleading, and it wasted both our time and trust. If you are considering ADT, be very cautious and make sure you get everything in writing upfront. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them.

I gave more than 30 days notice to cancel my ADT Service. Imagine my surprise when I received a billing statement for the next quarter. Long story short as possible, I was on the phone for an hour and half with ADT. I explained numerous times that I called on Aug 18 2025 and spoke with Destiny who "processed" my cancelation request. Apparently, she did not even though the records show that I called and spoke to her that day.
I got the runaround and in the end ADT would not correct and back date my cancellation request to Aug 18. Instead they are using today's date of Sept 9 as the cancellation request date. So I will have a bill for 9 days of service for next month (Oct). I was told that when I receive the bill I can the Billing Dept to dispute the charges (and probably waste another hour and a half). Failure on the part of ADT's employees to do their job correctly doesn't mean that I should be penalized for it. Terrible Company, I hope I never have to use them again.

These days, ADT is run by a bunch of dishonest people. They do not have any integrity when it comes to business conducts. Even though I called to cancel my service eight months ago, apparently they did not cancel it at their end. Now, they claim that there was an email they sent to me with some discounts to stay with them and that meant that I had accepted to stay. They are billing me for the service that has not been online for more than eight months!!!

BEWARE!!! My father has been a ADT customer 13 years. He is a Disabled Senior Citizen with Alzheimer's. We lost our mom 3 years ago and was looking at adding cameras. We filled his home with cameras inside and out. My father's health has worsened and had to move him in with me, his daughter. I explained to ADT we had no problem paying off the equipment, but to charge him almost $1,800 for breaking his contract was so heartless. Shame on you for taking advantage of a Disabled Veteran with Alzheimer's!!!!

I don’t recommend ADT to anyone. First time client and I was offered something completely different from what I was given when the technician arrived. The technician set up the cameras where ever it was easier for him to do so. One of the cameras is facing a tree to say the least and 2 cameras are not working. He did not set up my phone properly to view my history, I can’t alarm my home with the panel and it shows that one of my window is open after I already confirmed that none are open.
I called to give feed back and express how dissatisfied I was with the service and they said to expect a call back to set up an appointment to go out and fix the issues. I have not received a call back and it’s been almost a week. I’ve called few times and they said “it’s a waiting game”. This company promotes good service but has shown the complete opposite. Also they were quick to talk bad about other home security companies when I mentioned I was seeking to cancel my service.

They were charging me for services on an alarm that they no longer could repair. I would avoid this company as they seem to have no morals. The tech told me everything would be chargeable since they don’t have the parts anymore and I will probably need a new system even after paying for premium service.

ZERO STARS!!!! DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER THIS COMPANY! (Wish I would have listened to all the negative reviews.) I have been a loyal ADT customer for over 3 years, but my recent experience with this company has been nothing short of a nightmare. When I moved apartments, I was told I would not be charged for another transfer of service. ADT completely reneged on that promise, tried to charge me $200 for another install, and then set me up with one of the rudest customer service managers I’ve ever dealt with. He talked over me the entire time, and when I didn’t give him the answers he wanted, he closed my account without my consent—even after I clearly expressed I wanted to keep the service open and possibly self-install.
To make matters worse, ADT then charged my bank account $650.62 without my authorization. When I called customer service, I was bounced around from agent to agent, department to department, only to finally be told, “oh well, we got your money now and the account is closed.” This company operates in a predatory and deceptive way. They trap customers into bogus equipment, cut off service without permission, and then drain your bank account without recourse. They don’t care about loyalty, customer satisfaction, or integrity—only money. Avoid ADT at all costs. They are the absolute worst, and I hope more people see through their deceptive practices before getting trapped the way I did.

My ADT alarm system stopped working earlier this year. I spent nearly 10 hours troubleshooting with ADT technicians, including in-person visits and video conferences. Despite these efforts, ADT ultimately admitted they could not repair the system and told me I would need to install a brand-new one, estimated at $700–$1,500. This was unacceptable, especially after being told I already had their most updated equipment.
In June 2025, after six years as a customer, I called to cancel. The representative resisted my request, insisting on sending another technician, even though the original technician with 20+ years’ experience had already confirmed the issue could not be fixed. After more than an hour, she finally agreed to cancel and said I would receive a final invoice.
Instead of canceling, ADT continued billing me in July, August, and September, and began sending emails threatening collections and credit score damage. When I called again, they claimed to have no record of my cancellation and once more pushed me to install a new system for over $1,000. I declined, but agreed to pay my balance through June. ADT then told me my account would only be canceled if I paid $363 in “cancellation charges.” I requested these be waived, since they were billing me for a service they acknowledged does not work, but the agent refused. I was forced to agree to avoid collections. ADT’s actions—refusing to honor cancellation, charging for a nonfunctional service, and threatening my credit—are unfair and deceptive.

I was researching different companies for our cameras. I got my quote and it was cheaper than the other two companies I looked at so I went ahead and booked the “consultation” in person. They said, "You had to put your card down for that," but they did not charge anything. At the end of the call, the service man was like "OK, you just need to sign a contract real quick." I said "I’m not signing anything until I read it, so I won’t be able to sign in during our phone call." After I got off the phone, I read the whole contract and it is definitely not a consultation that you could walk away from. VERY misleading to say you weren’t being charged anything but the contract was for five years. I immediately called back and canceled my “consultation”. While I probably would have chosen them based on price, I will definitely pay more for someone else if I’m not being misled.

I had ADT for 4 years and 8 months and in the spring my system wouldn't connect to the WiFi so I called and after you do the automated cs call I got to a live person and they were able to get it back online pretty quickly. Well...then it happened again and when I called I had to go through the same thing and this time talked to 3 people and they blamed it on the internet company saying it had to be on 2G not 5G. Mind you I have had the same internet for the last 5 years with no changes but they continued to blame the internet provider. When they asked the manager if they can send someone to my location they said I would have to pay for it because it was not their issue, it was the internet provider's problem.
I immediately went to cancel my service and had to go to 3 people to get it cancelled as the first person had to send me to someone else and the next person after I told them what happened hung up and I had to call a 3rd time to get someone to cancel it. They then said that I would have a $395 cancellation fee even though I they told me (on a recorded line) that I had been a customer for 4 years and 8 months. Poor service and will never go back to them.

I have ADT service at my store but when I store had stolen money ADT do not have recording video. I called to cancel the service and they said I have to pay $1500 for 36 month contract. That is disappointed me! And they just said sorry they can not do nothing! I hope people read my review and do not get the service like us! So bad company

My recent experience with ADT was quite disappointing to say the least. Had visits in which work was not completed.. No one called or emailed me to inform me of them mailing equipment to my home. This work has taken several already and now there will be more wait time. In the meantime my home sits unprotected and I have to rearrange my time to suit their schedule. Not good.

It started when someone showed on my doorstep and sold me the ADT package. Everything went well until the installation where suddenly, they had to add more cameras, which of course came with an extra cost. Then, cameras stop recording, to find out rules falls off and, oh!, there is a limit of the amount of videos you can get. My street has a lot of traffic. One car every minutes. So I set the rule to not record cars or others. The System still record every single cars that drive by. I called ADT and the rep told me that I cannot set a rule on the ADT app on my phone. I need to do it on a laptop. I don’t own a laptop and every time I call, no one told me that. I tried to cancelled the service but it would cost me $1507.28 to cancelled! Talk about being stuck with a service that I can’t use! Unbelievable that I won’t get any help with that. Not impressed by ADT, that’s for sure. I definitely won’t recommend ADT.

My daughter has ADT in her apt for about 3 weeks... It has been very difficult for her because the security system is always being vandalise... Her wifi, the base, no saved media. The base has been tampered with and they are sending her a new one..... One call she made to adt because she had no saved media. The person says his name was Richard, told her that they got many complaints on this system and would close out her account and to go with another provider.... Turns out she was told by adt technician that it was a scam....
I find that the afternoon evening crew are not too good... They will put you on hold while they look into your account for any notes but they don't return after waiting for over half an hour... I understand busy times but the timing is too long and it has happened several times, so I am suspicious..... Today 09/3/25 I called adt for a follow up and spoke to Braisha, she was awesome and that's the way customer service should be, very polite, professional, when looking into my account she would come back and say "I'm still with you. Have not left," said it several times... promote her, give her a raise she went beyond the call of duty.....

Horrible. Just Horrible. Vivint Is Easily Superior. ADT has subpar product and even worse customer service (Looking at you Kevin and Randy). Employees unfortunately forced to screw over customers to make the executives' money. This is reflected in the quality of service 100%. Please don't waste your time with this company. We recently moved into a new home, and about a week later someone came to our door claiming they needed to “update our system.” This was confusing since we never requested anything, and the previous owner didn’t even seem to have ADT. I told the rep my husband wasn’t home and he makes those decisions. The rep came back multiple times. Eventually, another rep showed up saying we were “hard to find.” I told him directly that we weren’t interested. He insisted it wouldn’t cost us anything, claiming our insurance required it, that we had already paid over $400 which went toward the service, and that we had a $750 coupon. He said we were “good for 13 months” with no extra charges.
When he finally came back later that evening, my husband had to leave because the rep was late. The rep spoke to my husband briefly over the phone and reassured him that there would be no equipment charges and no monthly payment. He told me the only thing I had to do was put a card on file “for verification only” and promised nothing would be charged. Unfortunately, that was not true—I was billed $63 almost immediately, and the bill has already gone up to $77. The old equipment is hooked up because they said they didn’t install it. The sales said they will take care of it. (So much for upgrade.)
Customer service has been no help. They just keep saying I signed a contract and refuse to take responsibility for the misleading tactics their sales reps are using. To make matters worse, the system isn’t even fully set up. They couldn’t connect it to our WiFi, my husband was never set up to view the cameras, and the camera they did install was positioned so poorly it doesn’t even capture people or packages on our porch. We could have just got ring camera. Overall, this has been a frustrating and costly experience. ADT’s sales reps use deceptive practices, their customer service doesn’t hold them accountable, and the equipment isn’t worth the money. I would not recommend ADT to anyone.

I have had nothing but issues with ADT. When my alarm was going off and I didn't know why - they were reluctant to alert the police. Overall, the service is slow, and it usually takes 2 -3 attempts to resolve an issue. The online chat and calling them don't work and you'll probably spend 20 min. trying to reach someone. I could go into greater detail, but my advice is do not use ADT if you want your home to be secure and safe.

I didn't get the chance to experience whether they had quality service or not because the rep I spoke to ran my credit when I was only calling for information. I know because I got the credit alert so if you're going to be deceitful in the beginning it's only downhill from there and that's really sad that you can't trust a security company and then create some more concerns about the level of security and the secureness of the security. Next thing you know we would find somebody inside the camera or something. It's really sad to know that other people have went through the same thing. Just answer our damn questions and leave our credit alone until we decide we want to have something to do with you and let it be our choice.

I am a long-time ADT customer. The events were these: I ordered and paid for ADT to ship me replacement items for my system—a key fob and a sensor. To order them, I was asked to give my name and address THREE TIMES—by the AI system, by a person who transferred me to the technician, and by the technician. The order itself took longer than expected, with various agreements and documents to sign. I received tracking information via text from ADT, and later, notice that the items had been delivered. The items were delivered to an address in Los Angeles, NOT to us. I contacted ADT customer service through the chat to let them know and have the items redelivered. Corresponding with AI, on hold, or speaking with “Debanjan” took more than 30 minutes.
Debanjan insisted that I contact FedEx to get the items. But I am ADT’s customer, not FedEx’s. If FedEx is ADT’s shipping vendor, and FedEx is screwing up delivery of ADT products to its customers, wouldn’t ADT want to address that? I also texted with “Leo B” at customer service. He was unhelpful and rude. I repeatedly asked him to connect me with a supervisor; he argued with me about what Amazon’s vendors would do under similar circumstances, gave me FedEx’s 800-number, and said that was the best he could do. I spent another 47 minutes talking with “Michaela,” much of it on hold. She seemed to be doing her best to help, but the best she could do was to book me another remote video call with a “highly trained technician” for the next day. I did not want or need a call with a highly trained technician. I just wanted my order.
"Bryce" called the next day and wanted to run some kind of safety test. But when I informed him about the actual problem, he immediately set to solving it. Aside from Bryce, this is NOT the kind of customer service I expect. To avoid such utterly inane situations in the future, if the opportunity arises for me to switch to another alarm company, I will.

If I could give zero stars I would. If you try to cancel after contract is up they give you a run around on the phone, transfer you around then disconnect. Stay away from ADT. Today I have tried 3 phone calls today alone, tried earlier in month but gave up. It’s been 3 years, next step I guess will be a lawsuit, I’m canceling credit card later today. And their AI is also annoying. Not to mention their hold music. Their sensors loosen over time, then they charge you service fee to “fix”, on top of the monthly fee.

I had ADT service at my business for over five years, and it has been one of the most frustrating experiences I’ve ever had with a company. The system never functioned properly from the beginning—constant false battery low messages, repeated service calls, and ongoing billing errors. I was even charged for services that were supposed to be free because the problems were ADT’s fault.
When I tried to cancel, ADT repeatedly pressured me into staying longer. It’s clear they put more energy into preventing cancellations than into delivering a reliable product or competent service. After finally canceling, the system still won’t shut off, keeps beeping, and because it was hardwired, I can’t even unplug it. ADT refused to send a technician and told me to hire a private company to fix their own faulty work. The amount of time, stress, and energy I lost dealing with ADT is outrageous. Their business practices are misleading, their product unreliable, and their customer service dismissive. ADT is a disgrace, and I would strongly warn anyone against using them.

They out and out lie to you when they are trying to sell you the product! They omit information that you need. They hide things in the very fine print of their lengthy contract. When the equipment you are paying on that is supposed to be under warranty fails they charge you to repair it!! Not to mention when you call them with a problem they will pass you from from extension to extension with endless hold times until you hang up rather than just answer your questions! Buyer Beware run from ADT!!

Stay AWAY! ADT will not allow you to cancel early even due to financial hardship, immoral given the climate right now! You either have to continue for the rest of the contract or pay it out upfront! Half the time to equipment doesn't work either! Find a different company!

Updated on 08/27/2025: I am extremely disappointed with ADT. Despite multiple attempts to resolve an issue with excessive and unclear charges for equipment and installation, their customer service has been unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of offering solutions, they keep referring back to the contract and provide short, generic responses that do nothing to address the actual problem.
The total cost for my equipment and cameras was nearly $3,000, far more than it should have been, and they refuse to adjust or explain the charges in a meaningful way. I have asked to speak to someone who can actually provide solutions, but so far, no one has been able or willing to help. This experience has been frustrating, misleading, and a complete waste of time. I cannot recommend ADT to anyone looking for fair pricing or helpful customer service.
Original Review: I would not recommend ADT based on my experience. Customer service is frustratingly slow and unhelpful, with calls often going unanswered or being passed between multiple agents without resolution. Billing is confusing, with unexpected charges that take weeks to correct, and installation and support can be delayed or unreliable. On top of that, their fees—installation, equipment, and monthly monitoring—are high and not always clearly explained upfront, and the company often pressures customers into long-term contracts with hefty cancellation penalties. Earlier this month, our garage doors were not responding to the commands selected in the control app. We called ADT and after trying to troubleshoot the decision was made to sent out a technician. The technician was very professional and our system seemed to be working well. Recently, following a the first overnight storm our ADT panel began displaying a WIFi fault error. Our home has two partitions. I had an appointment scheduled for Wednesday 8/20 at 6:38 am, the 2nd partition was on standby and when the guest door was opened, the alarm sounded and we were contacted by ADT. A virtual appointment was set up for 8/21 between 11:00-11:30 at 11:44, I called ADT because I never received a call and I was told I missed my appointment, and the call had been sent to my husband’s phone.
I worked for 45 minutes with a technician and he told me I was putting in an incorrect password and then the call was disconnected. I called back, gave my phone number and another virtual appointment was set up. Again, I did not receive a call. I called ADT when I returned home and another tech said the problem was my router is too far from my ADT panel and I would need a WIFi extender even I told him we have lived in two-story homes with the router upstairs for the 7 years and we have never had this issue. He ignored this comment and he told me he could turn off the wifi on our system until we purchase an extender, so I called customer service today to purchase the extender, but when the customer service rep heard the issue, she agreed that an extender would not solve the issue and she connected me to tech support.
The tech support person asked me to try to connect my WiFi again and when it timed out 3 times, she scheduled a virtual call between 6:00-6:30 this evening, I waited by the phone and I never received a call, but at 7:02 pm, I received an email stating I had missed my appointment. I checked with my husband and he never received a call either. We are extremely frustrated and disappointed at lack of support and service we are receiving. We have always spoken very highly of ADT and we have been long-standing customers, but this last week’s unprofessional behavior is causing us to re-evaluate continuing to utilize this company for our security needs.

If I could give them zero stars, I would. I had the worst experience with ADT. They installed equipment that after a year and a half, didn’t work and they couldn’t figure out how to fix it but they continue to charge me. When my contract was finally over, I made sure to cancel before I was automatically renewed. That was another horror. They canceled my service so my alarm pad kept beeping all day and all night. When I called to find out how to stop it, they told me I had to pull out the transmitter, but they couldn’t figure out where it was. I spent over an hour on the phone with a customer service rep to no avail. Luckily, he was able to stop the beeping, but my pad keeps blinking that there’s an error. He said they couldn’t send someone out to disconnect me since I no longer have a ADT service and was no longer a customer. I would never recommend anybody to use this service.

ADT is absolute garbage. They overcharge for everything. Their cameras don't actually record. So many times it doesn't pick up on camera when there's people, packages, vehicles, etc. You are better off with Ring or ANY other service trust me. And don't even get me started on the POOR customer service. I want out of ADT asap but it's going to cost me an arm and a leg to do so. Hate them with a passion.
