I found a good deal on a camera, the Canon PowerShot SX740, so I placed the order. The next day, I got a message to call someone at Abe's of Maine about the order. I did and was told that my order was the 'international' version of the camera, would take 3-5 weeks to arrive, and didn't have any accessories (case, battery, charger, cables). However, they could ship the 'retail' version the next day. The retail version would only cost an extra $350 (camera was $540). Since I was in no rush, I declined and requested the one I bought.

I have been on the fence for sometime and have been shopping several sites. Abe's of Maine is by far the best price-wise. With the significant amount of money I saved, I was able to splurge on next day air shipping so I can have the gear ready for my next shoot this week. Looking forward to testing it out. Hoping everything arrives on time and in mint condition.

Good experience so far minus promo codes not working. Excited to see how quickly I get my order as that will ultimately determine how my experience was. Always hesitant to not buy from a large retailer.

Very smooth process, no issues in ordering the Canon 100-500 mm lens. What would be great is to include more information, description and specifications. Also if there are reviews of what you’re ordering that would be very helpful. I needed to go to another photography retailer site to find the information about what size filter to buy and it would have been nice to see any reviews of the lens.

Even when it's not the holidays, Abe's of Maine has lesser sales prices on products, especially cameras! Geez, the Nikon Z8 is usually $4999 but here they had a -1900 sales reduction. Geez, BHPhoto wouldn't offer this. I haven't shopped here before but had seen ads of Google many times when I searched for camera gear. I think in the future I'll buy more things from this business since they're able to sell what I can afford.

I ordered this camera because Abe's of Maine offered such a "sweet" deal. I will be photographing basketball great LeBron James soon so I had to have the best. Thanks Abe for the deal! So far so good - I just placed an order and am now waiting to receive it. We'll see how it goes since this is my first time with Abe's. I don't know what else to say until I see my purchase and then we will see how well Abe's does. I am a long time B & H Photo customer and am trying Abe's for the first time.

I have been wanting to replace my well used Canon SX740 for some time. Abe's had a new camera available, and I hope it arrives soon. Love this camera, for ease of use and great pictures that it can do. For a point and shoot camera, it can't be beat.

Great Price!! If you're not familiar with Abe's of Maine they're a very reliable and ethical photos equipment supplier. I bought from them many times throughout the years and have always been happy with their Gray Market lenses from the big camera vendors. Canon, Nikon, Sony, and Panasonic always produce good product and you can rely on Abe's of Maine to get it to you at the lowest cost.

Ordered a lens for my son in law. Chose Abe’s due to the competitive price. Late that day received an email saying they needed to confirm the order. I figured it made sense since I was buying it but shipping it to a different state. While on the phone, they said the lens had been updated to better quality, would I like to upgrade the order. I said for the same price that’d be great! Of course that was not doable. The “upgraded” version of the lens was $300 or so more. I said, "That’s fine, I’ll stick with the order I made." I was told they don’t have the lens. I asked, “you don’t have the lens that you advertised and cannot get it?” That’s what he was saying, so I should upgrade the order. I told him to cancel it, and to beware if I was charged. “We are a reputable company, we’ve been in business for 49 years. Yaddah yaddah yaddah.” B&H, and the other big names are what I’m sticking to from now on.

BUYER BEWARE: I recently had a highly disappointing experience with this company when purchasing a camera. I placed an online order for a camera advertised as in stock with the bundle for $1,143.99. Shortly after, I received a call from a representative named Michael ** to confirm the order. Initially, the conversation seemed straightforward but rapidly turned into a high-pressure upsell attempt. Michael spoke quickly and offered various "free" items, which, in hindsight, felt like a bait-and-switch tactic. What really surprised me was that after my card was charged an amount much higher than I approved—$1,643.99—I was informed that the camera I originally ordered wasn't available and was an international version, which was never stated on their website. Instead, Michael tried to convince me that he was doing me a "favor" by offering a different bundle package, but this was never mentioned during the initial sales conversation.

Upon placing the order, did not see the delivery date to ensure it will arrive on time. Amazon always gives you the delivery date prior to confirmation of order. I'm concerned my order will not arrive on time before my trip. Can you at least list the delivery date with each order?

Purchase process was very easy. Prices were comparable to other name brand stores. I have been looking to upgrade my very old Canon T3i and decided to take the plunge with the Sony α7R V based off of reading numerous reviews and watching countless YouTube videos, crossing fingers it does not disappoint.

Dealing with Abe's of Maine has been very easy and very satisfying. Easy to navigate their website and to find products, and they have amazing deals on products. Abe's of Maine have a very good price base on their description. Easy to do business with and process the shipping and payment. Since, I haven't receive the camera yet; I have a 2 days air. Can't wait for it. I will review the experience with Abe's of Maine then open box on my Youtube channel.

I tried to use the Friday15 discount code which seemed to work. But as soon as I got to payments during checkout, the discount was removed. Anyway it was a good shopping experience. I do think the user interface is great and selection of products is amazing. But the fact that the mobile app didn’t allow my $15 discount is a bummer.

Purchased a Canon 5d Mark IV. Older but very good camera. Not many places have new ones readily available. Order process was easy and quick. Price at Abe's is very competitive, even with the high volume, dedicated camera shops online. Hopefully delivery and future support (if needed) will be the same!

I ordered a camera at the listed price, even went through their credit approval process with 0 percent Apr. Once my order went through, I received a call with a fast-talking salesman trying to get me to purchase the “only one they had left” at $600 more than the listed price. I checked back the next day and the same camera is still listed for the same price I purchased it. Seems like a scam to get people to spend more!

I had a good experience ordering my lens from this company that was in a very good condition but it wasn’t the right color to use it on the lens so I’m just going for a lighter y and the black one I got it for my car so really I.

I ordered a Nikon lens as the price was $100 under the regular price, I knew this is a gray import but after all, it comes from the same Nikon factory… After I ordered I got told by the company that THEY have to order it and will then ship it out to me, hopefully in 2 weeks time. This is not acceptable for a professional store. So I have asked for my $ back which will hopefully go more smoothly than the order/shipping process.

Horrible customer service. They don’t like to work with you or help you unless you are spending money. They call you names and hang up on you. I purchased from a deal they had and the warranty my company told me this already comes with the purchase and it should be free. Yet I paid an extra 200 or 300 I can’t remember for something that I’m told already comes with the camera. Sad part is they are not willing to help me even though I have made multiple purchases. They need to be shut down. I should have listened to my friends and all the reviews for once. Apparently I could have gotten the American version for the same price.

Abe’s of Maine provided by far the best price on this lens. Their site is easy to use and navigate. I can only hope that their shipping and customer service in the event of any problems is as good as the experience has been so far. I will certainly recommend this site to other Photographer friends of mine.

I’ve been wanting this camera for a while, and I think this website has a great deal for the whole camera package. I was worried about paying extra for the SD card and batteries and other things but this one only cost $100 more. I am looking forward to receiving my camera soon.

I found the item I wanted and purchased it quickly. This was my first order from this site so I am pleasantly surprised I wasn't forced to click out and opt out of a seemingly endless number of pop ups. There were no obvious traps/added charges. I paid the cost of product with no extras. Nice.

I had a representative spend the time with me and clarify that they are reaching out to the “Scalpers” to make the consumer’s life easy and not dealing with them directly. They are more of a team that does the leg work for you, right or wrong. I appreciate Jennifer clarifying for me. The gentlemen was vague that originally assisted, maybe was just overly busy.

They offer the best equipment, at the best price, with the best service. I ordered a Sony a7cii from them and had a wonderful experience. The order shipped right away and I even got a phone call to confirm my purchase and if I needed anything else. I purchased my first SLR from Abe's of Maine in 2004. I am glad to purchase my newest camera from them again. I hope I don't face warranty problems or need to return the equipment otherwise. And we should be good. Will happily refer to a friend.

So far so good. I placed the order easily and hoping my camera will be delivered in a week. This is a difficult to acquire camera which is backordered elsewhere and price on Abes seems fair. However the order process forces one onto review site and it was unclear whether was a review is necessary to complete order. The site should make clear that this is voluntary.

What a crazy, crazy, CRAZY selection of different equipment this shop offers. Is the best in the biz. I found a 12-24/f4 Sony G lens for more than 500 dollars cheaper than competitors. I purchased a camera lens for almost $1,500 from Abe's of Maine also known as Westpark Electronics LLC. Beware, they are not an authorized Sony dealer under either name. They do not honor Sony's manufacturer warranty. They have you purchase an "extended warranty" and use that coverage if something is to happen to your Sony product within the first year. I recently had a large particle appear under the lens and upon contacting them to question the manufacturer warranty they jumped to the assumption that I had dropped the lens or some type of accidental damage had occurred and warned me I should upgrade my "extended warranty" to cover said accidental damage.

My online purchase experience was pretty straightforward and easy. There were a couple of hiccups but for the prices it's totally worthwhile. The hiccups included some website errors after applying for credit and not being clear that the Abe's of Maine credit from Synchrony is not an instant credit that can be used right away at point of sale but rather you need to wait for a physical card to be delivered first.

I bought the Canon lenses RF 18-150mm for a really good price, I really enjoyed using these lenses. They make a huge difference in the quality of photos. Considering the price of the lenses they are very worth buying and will most likely last for a long time in the future.

It is a scam company.... They do not have what they advertise. Try to get you to buy something else. Should be illegal. Total waste of precious time. The only way they can stay in business are fake reviews.

I was able to order with ease. Also was able to buy at a much lower price than listed by other companies. The only down side is that it did not come with a lens hood that I felt should have been included with the lens. So will have to order it separately.

I bought Fx3 camera and it mentioned that audio top handle is included … Camera was new list price $3,898.00 anywhere else with some accessories like charger, batteries and top audio handle (worth $450). They make you believe You Save $769.00 (20% off) selling camera for the Price of $3,129.00 but you getting naked camera without anything at all… Then they call you asking what battery you want… what other accessories you need, also top audio handle that cost over $400 is not included either … Don't believe what you see. They attracting clients on cheap price. Also camera is posted as in stock and guy told me it’s 2 months backordered. I believe they opening google accounts to write positive reviews to themselves here.

I love Abe's of Maine because they have almost everything I need, often at a much lower price, they ship quickly, and I've never had anything but the best service with them. I am a repeat customer and will keep coming back every time I need anything for my photo and video needs.

Avoid Abe's of Maine at all costs. They display predatory business practices, and will bait and switch, upsell, and lie their way into making money. Save yourself the headache, and buy from a well known business! Just so everyone knows. Abe's of Maine is not an authorized dealer for ANY major camera company. Canon, Sony, Nikon, Fujifilm, Olympus, none have AOM listed in their authorized vendor lists. I bought a Canon Flash for professional photography. They shipped me a cheaper, lesser, and discontinued model. They refused to send me a prepaid shipping label for a return and refund. The customer service phone is never answered. I managed to contact someone from Sales who said "we don't provide shipping labels" and hung up. Terrible business practices, awful customer service, fake advertising. Be advised.

I had a problem with the last order that I got. The camera have focusing problems. I’m giving a second chance. I don’t understand why the Customer Service didn’t try to help me with that, but it was their decision.

I have read a lot of the reviews of Abe's of Maine on this website. I think if you read the low reviews carefully -- particularly the 1 Star reviews -- that's where the "truth" is. Abe's of Maine are scammers. Once you place your order, Mike will call you and try and upsell you to something more costly. He'll tell you that you selected the model that offers no accessories. Then he'll try and move you into something more expensive. If you've ever been to Times Square and visited the electronics shops there, that's the Abe's of Maine model. Don't trust them with your money.

Easy to navigate, and ended up getting a great deal! PayPal support would be nice, but other than that, everything was great. Also, could be worth mentioning, but I received an email on the update of the purchase as soon as it was registered, so it seems keeping an update shouldn't be an issue. Would definitely recommend.

Hi Everyone! I'll be as factual as possible in this review. On April 10, 2024 I tried to purchase a Sony 70-200MM F2.8 lens from Abe's of Maine. The lens was actually cheaper than other stores like my trustworthy Adorama or B&H, but more importantly, they offer a up to 6 month interest free purchase if you apply to their Credit Card with Synchrony (this lens is very expensive). I went ahead, applied for the credit card and got accepted, and finalized the purchase.

Everything good, navigation through your online store is straightforward, very good. You say you have it in stock and I hope you are telling me the truth because I needed ASAP for a trip to Europe the next week. This camera was backordered on lots of places and you have it in stock. Thanks.

Although I like the price of the camera that I purchased, I found that by shopping on Amazon, I could purchase the batteries, memory and lens adapter at a much less expensive price. In the future, if prices are less or if you offer a Veterans discount, this could possibly make up for the price difference and I would buy my accessories from Abe's rather than Amazon.

Just ordered it. Went very smooth. Have not received the camera, but they had it in stock. I had a previous SX720. It was dropped and could not be repaired. I am hoping the SX740 is just as good. I really liked the extra zoom 80X. The picture was clear, even from a far distance. It takes great videos and is Easy to transfer and show in different devices.

So, thankful my item of choice was in stock at Abe's Of Maine. I have waited for over 2 months to receive this same item from a prominent photography establishment, however, I recently cancelled my backordered item and ordered from here instead. Predatory bait and switch tactics. "Michael" is going to email you after you place an online order so he can "verify your identity" before you are charged. The real goal of this call is to upsell you on something else. God forbid you aren't super experienced with photography, because you might be easily fooled if you aren't. It happened to me!!

Appreciate the price and easy check out! Site is easy to navigate and has a great selection. Very competitive and helpful descriptions. Would appreciate seeing other user reviews to get more user information in the future. Otherwise very satisfied with the shopping experience. It would be nice to see a few more Sony E lenses in the selection.

They offer the best deals for your money. I was completely satisfied with they service. I vouch for them and will return as a continued customer. They have everything you possibly need as a pro photographer or just a hobbyist on the go. Customer service was awesome, and they really know their products. First camera ever and after a bit of research, this one is what I decided on. This website had the best price for it used and I'm really, really looking forward to receiving it. I originally purchased the Sony A7iii but the next morning and after a bit more search I had a change of heart and promptly canceled the order. It did not take long to find this website and will very likely purchase a lens to go along.

Total bait and switch. They offer a cheaper deal than everybody else and then they say, "Oh sorry that Camera isn’t available but we have this other camera you can get that’s $200 more." So they try to get your sale and then try to bait and switch you. Otherwise you’ll have to wait a long time to get the one you ordered. I would go somewhere else.

Images long age I had used Abes of Maine…. Some 20 years later, they still have not disappointed. I will see if anything changes with my new order, for which I have chosen overnight shipping! I hope I don’t get a phone call with a lot of “gotchas”… if I do, I will be changing my review for certain! Otherwise.

I purchased a lens adapter for my wife, ordering was great, shipping was good but the adapter did not work. Once we figured out the adapter was defective we called, set up a return and returned it. We did not get a full refund even though it was in it exact original form and was also out the shipping. Order an adapter from another company and all is perfect. Will not use Abe's of Maine for anything again.

Wasn’t able to use the payment plan. The offer was shown but no link allowing me to sign up or attempt to be able to have an option so I could buy more accessories and equipment for the camera. I have a good credit history and love companies that have this option.

Company actively engages in false advertising, bait and switch and misleading and illegal business practices. They knowingly advertise gray-market products on their website as being in-stock when they don't actually stock these items. After a customer places an order they require you to call to change your order to a much more expensive locally produced item which they have in-stock (but which they do not actually advertise on their website). My most recent experience was when I ordered a camera from them listed at a low price and ready to ship on their website, and which the business continued to actively promote through paid Google Ads even though they don't actually carry the item.

First time use of this website. It was super smooth to complete an online order with the very competitive price offered. My order of Canon EOS R6 Mark II Mirrorless Camera and Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens, only suggestion to add is a "what is included in the box" picture or description. Abe's of Maine is the WORST. Bait and switch!! Ordered a z9. They wouldn't process the order until they called me. That phone call was to "upgrade". They informed me that my chosen camera would not accept firmware updates and had no warranty. The firmware issue was enough for me to agree to pay an additional $800 for the "American" version as opposed to the "Asian" version. What I received was a Z9 that still did not accept firmware updates. So I spent the extra money for a camera they still did not ship. I have sent over 15 emails with NO response. NEVER BUY FROM ABE'S. You WILL regret it.

Great price and impeccable reputation. I have the P900 and have captured incredible photos of the Moon as well as total Lunar and Solar Eclipses. I also have a 40 second video of Saturn in which you can see the movement of the rings. I am very anxious to take advantage of the additional 1000x of the P1000 zoom.

Mostly good. Could not get my question about the self timer answered, though. Nobody seemed inclined to answer if the timer reset after you set it for a picture or if it kept the setting after turning the camera off. Of course the manual is of no help whatsoever. Looking forward to receiving my Canon RF 100–500 mm lens! This lens will be what I need to take pictures of wildlife and landscapes not just my travels, but also on my hunting trips! I hope that when I receive it, everything is in order functioning properly, and as beautiful as the picture on the website.

It was a smooth purchase and I hope that the camera lens comes to me soon. I am looking forward to what my camera lens can and will do once I receive it and hopefully it is a brand-new lens and not a refurbished one but we will see as I have experts waiting to appraise it.

Abe's of Maine are scammers, plain and simple. I recently placed an order for a Sony FE 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6 G OSS Lens. Two days later I got an email asking for me to call and confirm my order. When I called I spoke to Michael who informed me that I ordered an "import model" which did not come with the standard factory included accessories, being the dust covers, lens cap, sunshade and lens pouch. He said if I wanted those items I could change my order to the "standard version" for $300 more. I declined and said there wasn't an option on the listing to choose between a 'standard' or 'import' model. His tone became rude and he said it clearly states that on the website. I said I wasn't going to pay $300 for those items so I'll stick with the 'standard' model.

Well organized web site for easy research. I found the right lens quickly and the ordering process was very smooth. I appreciate the competitive pricing from Abe's of Maine. I also like the detailed email I received after placing my order which explains timing for the next steps (e.g., order processing, shipping, etc).

Just saved over $500 on a NIKKOR lens. So excited! The process was easy and well-explained. I am looking forward to receiving my lens. By good fortune the seller inexplicably refunded my order and did not ship the lens (I suspect they sold it to someone else). What I thought was my loss is my gain. The website is very easy to navigate, as there are tons of camera and accessories options. Overall, the Abe's of Maine is very easy to navigate and checkout experience was very smooth and seamless. I guess the only thing is the waiting period for my camera to arrive, and to see its condition.

Bait and switch. Item shown online was "no longer in stock" when I called. They "provided" an alternate. In good faith I provided a credit card over the phone. Once I discover that the entire transaction was a sham...grey market cameras I cancelled immediately...same afternoon. They refused to refund the card. I ended up having to call our bank to cancel the transaction. According to both NYS and NJ law, we have 3 days to cancel a transaction with refund in full. I cancelled within hours...the item was not even shipped. They demanded a 10% restocking charge...$200. Horrible company. Very sad business ethics.

Sell import models with the marking on the camera in Japanese. Never mention this on the website. Mention it as an after the fact when they call you to confirm the purchase. Charge 10% return fee. Would have been stuck with a useless camera and lens if I hadn't read the reviews and cancelled the order at the last minute. All their sales and promos are a bogus- they are for import models with no batteries, no warranties and all camera markings in a foreign language.

Always a fan of Abe’s. Found what I wanted at a great price. They were running a sale and I could finally get what I wanted. Have ordered from them before with no issues. Purchased a lens online, the next day a received a call stating the lens I purchased was different than the one that was displayed. I was asked to upgrade to the US version for an additional $500 dollars, when I was hesitant they told me they would take another $100 dollars off so it would only be a $400 dollar increase. When I questioned what was going on they told me that's just how it goes and that I was still getting a good deal. Order canceled!!

I was looking to make a purchase for a videographer and producer and was given the name of the camera and gear needed. I Googled the product and Abe's of Maine had the best price. After taking a look and deciding they were, in fact, a legitimate company, I made the purchase and went on with my day. I quickly received an email from them to call to verify the purchase. Since it was a large amount of money, I assumed that was the issue. I called and was immediately transferred to the person who emailed me. Ted was incredibly helpful. I had accidentally ordered a European version of the camera and lens. He not only helped me, but also honored the sale percentage on the original order. He then got it out rush shipping at around 6 pm! They registered the warranties and everything. I couldn't be more pleased with the service we received from this small business. I highly recommend!

It is clearly a grey market company. They play the bait and switch game with customers. Advertise a product at a low price as a international product then sell you items that should be included in box from factory. These are products that did not come from factory distribution since they are not authorized dealer. So when you buy retail model at increased price is it really a consumer product. In the end you spend more than if you purchased from direct manufacturers' online stores. Most of these items may not be able to register for factory warranty or service in the US. So now try to return item due to this and you get nailed for 10% restock fee. Avoid this company and just buy direct. You are better off.

Shopped multiple online sites. Abe's had best price by far. Website was very user friendly. Liked that a variety of shipping options and damage insurance options were offered. I am satisfied with Abe's of Maine online shopping experience, the inventory, availability, customer service and the competitive pricing. One thing I would encourage is to also list the original, non-imported products at their prices as well for comparison purposes... In this competitive e-commerce market, it is super hard to compete with more established brands and outlets, but AoM manages to pull this off despite being a much smaller retailer. This, I think, is no small feat... I am a happy returning customer.

Very fast, very long tele-lens out to 400mm. Looking to get the most out of my full frame 6D as 200mm looks just a little too short on a full frame Canon body. The image stabilization and USM motor are a bonus on many of these L-series lenses. Yes, like many others, I am planning on using this lens for sports (water skiing, snow skiing) and nature / travel where it can show off its stuff!!!

Michael called me on Sunday. He was pleasant, confirmed my order of the Canon 6d. He then informed me that the model that I ordered didn’t include a battery or charger. He then proceeded to upscale me to a higher price with the promise of extra batteries. He gave me a three year warranty that I won’t need. The price went from 1024.00 to 1299.00. Now the camera has arrived and the box is poorly packaged and damaged. The camera looks like a refurbished unit and the battery and charger look used. 275.00 upcharges to sell me the camera that I had already bought. I checked Canon doesn’t sell camera bodies without battery or charger. Except for maybe refurbished units but they receive batteries and chargers normally. I have purchased several times from Abe’s never a problem. I’ll be in touch after Thanksgiving.

I currently have a Canon 80D, but for the bird photography I want to do, would have had to purchase an expensive lens. This camera will do what I need for my photography goal! You have a black Friday offering but the website states that returns are valid only within 10 days (with RMA). Seem the offer is a pre-black Friday order. Given this is a Christmas gift, I called Abe's and spoke with Alex (NJ), who informed me that returns are valid for 7 days after Christmas. ---GREAT. I hope my choice, as a first time buyer, was the right one. Looking forward to your "word of honor" so I can become a loyal customer. PS: this is why I gave 4 stars.

Updated on 11/04/2023: So 3 days later the camera arrives, on the side of the box "For sale in Japan only" unable to register it with Canon. It is a grey market camera. So I immediately call and say, "I want to return it you told me...." "Well I'm not in the office today. You have to call another number on Monday." I am dreading the call on Monday. They lied to me through this whole process and I am pretty angry about it so I will need to take a few deep breaths before I call. I will probably update this following the call. It is not worth the hassle to deal with these people.
