    My package was delivered to someone’s house. I was unable to find my package. I called customer service a few weeks before Christmas. I explained that the package never arrived. No one has contacted me since then. I really thought they would have followed up with me after this many weeks. I told them that my purchase was a Christmas gift for my son. This was not a cheap gift.

    Beware of bait and switch. I purchased a camera on-line and immediately received an email asking me to call them about my order. They proceeded to tell me that the camera I purchased did not include a battery or charger and I would have to pay an additional $90 to get a camera that I could actually use.

    I called customer service today, and unfortunately the experience was extremely unprofessional. When I asked for clarification about my purchase and how to process a return, the representative spoke to me in a rude and dismissive manner. I also asked for the representative’s name so I could properly address my concerns, and I was told their name was “None of your Business.” This response was completely disrespectful and unacceptable. I reached out simply to understand my options and get accurate information about my order, but instead I was met with unhelpful and rude behavior. This experience was very disappointing, and I hope the company takes this feedback seriously and improves the quality of their customer support.

    I bought a Sony A7 IV, Also a Sigma 150-600 lens. Beware of false advertising. When it says factory fresh import it means it's not a legit US item and they will then upcharge you for the real one. When you go to checkout it clearly said all manufacturer's accessories are included. I got a call to "confirm" my order which turned into a scam. I was told nothing is included and I need to purchase a full retail kit for more money. Also I was "given" a charger and a second battery which turned out to be some cheap aftermarket stuff which didn't work as I had been told. I tried to talk with Michael about my unsatisfactory experience and received no help. So please beware of the bait of a "good deal". Do your research and verify every last detail and get it in writing. It would be nice if they would clearly state the facts and what's included or rather not included on the website including the "full retail kit".

    This order is the second lens I've purchased from y'all within the past 2 months. The first one I ordered last month, I received a phone call about upgrading to a lens that wasn't imported. I've heard that's kind of scammy, but I wanted the lens and was caught off guard with the phone call. Anyway, the guy was super nice and my lens came in and has been working great.     I purchased a Nikon lens 200-500 in June (the email is attached below) and it wasn't delivered due to a lack of stock. You told me that when you receive new units, you would send me the lens at the original price I paid for it. I'm still waiting, and I could see that you have new units for sale on your website.     So I placed an order for an international version of a camera that was "in stock" and ready to ship. I don't hear from them. So I call and they tell me it's 4 to 6 weeks out, but they have the US version in stock. For an upcharge of course because Abe's will be Abe's. I told him "I know you guys like to upsell..." and I never got further. He was the rudest customer service guy I ever spoke to. He just cut me off and started yelling at me. "You haven't been charged... We can just cancel this order, do you want me to cancel this order on you?" and on and on.

    Stay away from this retailer....as far away as you can. Their website posts a "sale" on a product I've had my eyes on for a while and offered a very low price. I placed an order online and provided my contact information as is customary with other sellers. I then received an email stating I needed to call them. When I did I was told the product was no longer available and that no other retailer has it either. The person then suggested a much higher-priced item. A classic bait-and-switch scam. When I told the customer service representative that I thought this was deceptive, he became very agitated and rude. As I said before, stay far away from this company.

    Searching for this camera on amazon, walmart and google, this was the best price from a reputable seller. I've used Abe's of Maine several times in the past with no problems. Shipping is quick and they always have one of the better if not best price. One of the best things I like about Abe's is their clear, easy-to-use site.     I was swindled by Abe's of Maine. Upsold me on a tripod, saying it's worth $175, when it arrived it was not only used but also broken. Refund was only $99 and I had to pay the postage $30. They go quiet when called out for fraud.

    This is classic bait and switch followed up with high pressure up-selling tactics. On 6/21/25 my wife placed an order for a Sony a7IV camera body, for about $1700. On Sunday 6/22/25 she received a call, to "verify" the order. This turned into a discussion about how the $1700 model was not a US model and would have no warranty. But conveniently they had a bundle for a US model for about $2300. Come to find out, the bundle they were offering actually had a price of $1800 on their website. They were immediately emailed about this discrepancy. We received no response.

    I called on Monday 6/23/25 at exactly 8:12AM EST since they open at 8:00Am to cancel the order since it had not shipped yet. I talked to the same person that scammed my wife. His name was Adam at ext 208. I said I wanted to cancel the order. He was immediately very belligerent and threatening and refused to cancel the order even though it had not shipped. Be careful. They will not verify anything in writing or email. Everything is done over the phone so they can lie. I immediately called my credit card company.

    I had a terrible experience with Abe’s of Maine. They advertised a camera as in stock, but after I placed the order, I got a call saying it wasn’t actually available unless I bought a bundle that included all the “essentials.” The call felt off, so I did some research and discovered the camera was likely grey market with no manufacturer warranty, since Abe’s is not an authorized dealer.

    I called back less than an hour later to cancel, but they claimed the item had already shipped. When the package arrived, the case and battery charger were missing. I had to fight just to get them to waive their standard 10% restocking fee for returns. Even then, I still had to pay $71 out of pocket to return the product.

    Avoid this company. The risk and hassle are not worth it. Their website seems legit, but notice that there is no way for customers to leave reviews.

    As many, many others have said...see a good price on website, purchase product, get email telling you to call them, call them, they try to upsell or switch product to something else, cancel order, order from reputable place.     On 4-11-2025 I spoke with Michael **, with Alpine of Maine, I had talked with him before when I purchased a Cannon 200-800mm lens, which was a little pricey, but I also received it the next day, so my second time talking with Mr. Michael **, so you can say I trusted him. I now want to purchase an extender 2.0, but he said it was not good, so I trusted him. I got a Canon extender 1.4, which he called the complete kit. He proceeded to tell me about a deal with the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens (FULL RETAIL KIT), okay I do need another lens just in case, still taking to him I also wanted a new swivel tripod, he said I have one better, (Elite Series 80” Professional Heavy Duty Tripod), with new lens etc.

    I needed a new camera bag, and he said I had just the thing for you (Durable Professional Backpack: Water and Shock Resistant: Customization Compartment with Tripod Strap). I was excited, I told him I do not want junk, he said these items are top of the line, I promise you. After receiving the camera bag it is a piece of junk. It will not even hold my 200-800mm lens a piece of jump. The tripod I took out yesterday it doesn't even work. The screw that screws into the back of your to your camera mount to mount onto the tripod doesn't work. It's broken. Then I also read the reviews on how shipping returning items goes Plus they take an extra 10% to restock their junk. $3,854.00 later, I have learned an unbelievably valuable lesson, and before you purchase, hopefully, you can learn from my mistakes.

    Just the facts.... Draw your own conclusions. Ordered a camera and Lens. Website says "in-Stock", Ok. Few hours after placing my order I get a message to call and confirm my order - Ok. Called, Salesman then tried to sell me all kinds of extras, then informed me the camera in stock was the "US" model. And that if I wanted to get me camera asap, I need to tag on all these extras. Including their extended warranty. He said for the sales price on the website - that was for the "Import model" only. And that the import model (from China) comes with No Warranty so I ask - it's a Sony so the manufacturer's warranty is fine. He then said, the Chinese model come with (NO) warranty - NONE. Apparently this is not a real Sony. I ask and never got a straight answer.

    Against my better judgement I placed the order - when I got the receipt in the mail, nothing was itemized and the total was over $1000 more than my original order - He tacked on all these extras I specifically said I don't need - don't want. Called back after the same bait and switch crap I said - cancel the order. Then they wanted to charge me a 10% restock fee - I haven't even received the package yet!!!!! Soooo Hell No. I would never do business with this company again!!! 100% bait and switch and who knows if these Chinese products are real or Gray Market.... I mean when does Sony not offer any kind of warranty, ugh.... Never. And what kind of company list a product at a sale price then tell you that, oh, that's not in stock - unless you buy the (US) model, which by the way - you have to purchase all this extra crap. That alone drives up the price lots.

    Since the receipt only showed a total, nothing itemized.... I ran the part numbers on their website - additional charges were: $399 for a (extra) 128GB Card they insisted I needed. $399 for an 82mm Lens filter set. $149 for an extended warranty on the Lens, and $299 for the extended warranty on the Camera - all of which I never said I wanted. Then the SanDisk 128GB card that I did want - they charged me $239 for that, Hell Amazon sells it for like $50. This place is a JOKE - I'd warn everyone to STEER CLEAR of Abe's of Maine and deal with a reputable dealer.

    Bait and Switch company selling products (Sony from China) that offer NO WARRANTY (that is unless you buy the US model). What a Joke. Now let's see if they process my refund.... Said they recalled the package (FedEx) but it still shows out for delivery.... I guess they think if I sign for it, then they can charge me that 10% restock fee - not happening. Interesting that after doing a bit more research - I found that this is common practice for this company. So buyer be-warned.

    Placed an order with this business in October for a lens at $629. Received several phone calls from the company where they told me they did not have the item in stock and that to get the item in the 2 days promised you have to purchase the in stock item with a price difference. When I emailed a request of confirmation and to outline the discrpency, they only emailed me back a receipt of the order. They use pressure tactics to get you to commit to the up sale. The camera lens price increased to $799. While I did get the order, it did not include a manufacturer warranty only a Consumer Priority Warranty. The business practice is not morally sound with the scam they use on customers. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE, they are not accredited by BBB!
