This is my first contact with your web site. I like the web layout! It would help if the page provided a shipping and delivery estimate. It appears that you have a B+M store somewhere in Old Orchard beach. Can you give me the street address so we can visit at our next trip south.

This order is the second lens I've purchased from y'all within the past 2 months. The first one I ordered last month, I received a phone call about upgrading to a lens that wasn't imported. I've heard that's kind of scammy, but I wanted the lens and was caught off guard with the phone call. Anyway, the guy was super nice and my lens came in and has been working great. You're prices are so hard to beat!

The entire process was smooth and overall a great experience. Prices were very reasonable, making it easy to place my order with confidence. I’ll follow up once I see how the shipping goes, but so far, everything has been excellent. Looking forward to shopping here again and recommending it to others. Definitely impressed with the ease and value offered—can’t wait to see the final results!

I purchased a Nikon lens 200-500 in June (the email is attached below) and it wasn't delivered due to a lack of stock. You told me that when you receive new units, you would send me the lens at the original price I paid for it. I'm still waiting, and I could see that you have new units for sale on your website. So I’m putting a new order, because nobody is answering my emails. Please respect the agreement that we made, and consider the original price for the item. Thanks.

So I placed an order for an international version of a camera that was "in stock" and ready to ship. I don't hear from them. So I call and they tell me it's 4 to 6 weeks out, but they have the US version in stock. For an upcharge of course because Abe's will be Abe's. I told him "I know you guys like to upsell..." and I never got further. He was the rudest customer service guy I ever spoke to. He just cut me off and started yelling at me. "You haven't been charged... We can just cancel this order, do you want me to cancel this order on you?" and on and on.

Offered a good price on a Canon camera, then called and wanted more money for a US version because the advertised version was gray market and not available. Tried to register the US version purchased and Canon says it's a non-eligible international version.

Stay away from this retailer....as far away as you can. Their website posts a "sale" on a product I've had my eyes on for a while and offered a very low price. I placed an order online and provided my contact information as is customary with other sellers. I then received an email stating I needed to call them. When I did I was told the product was no longer available and that no other retailer has it either. The person then suggested a much higher-priced item. A classic bait-and-switch scam. When I told the customer service representative that I thought this was deceptive, he became very agitated and rude. As I said before, stay far away from this company.

Searching for this camera on amazon, walmart and google, this was the best price from a reputable seller. I've used Abe's of Maine several times in the past with no problems. Shipping is quick and they always have one of the better if not best price. One of the best things I like about Abe's is their clear, easy-to-use site. I appreciate not getting any hidden fees or add-ons through checkout. Thanks!

I was swindled by Abe's of Maine. Upsold me on a tripod, saying it's worth $175, when it arrived it was not only used but also broken. Refund was only $99 and I had to pay the postage $30. They go quiet when called out for fraud.

This is classic bait and switch followed up with high pressure up-selling tactics. On 6/21/25 my wife placed an order for a Sony a7IV camera body, for about $1700. On Sunday 6/22/25 she received a call, to "verify" the order. This turned into a discussion about how the $1700 model was not a US model and would have no warranty. But conveniently they had a bundle for a US model for about $2300. Come to find out, the bundle they were offering actually had a price of $1800 on their website. They were immediately emailed about this discrepancy. We received no response.

Buyer beware! They are not interested in customer service. All they want to do is upsell with bad information. They are good at the bait and switch game. I would not recommend buying here. I will never waste my time or money with this place again.

I had a terrible experience with Abe’s of Maine. They advertised a camera as in stock, but after I placed the order, I got a call saying it wasn’t actually available unless I bought a bundle that included all the “essentials.” The call felt off, so I did some research and discovered the camera was likely grey market with no manufacturer warranty, since Abe’s is not an authorized dealer.

As many, many others have said...see a good price on website, purchase product, get email telling you to call them, call them, they try to upsell or switch product to something else, cancel order, order from reputable place. You've been warned. And, they were really, really rude too. Not worth your time.

On 4-11-2025 I spoke with Michael **, with Alpine of Maine, I had talked with him before when I purchased a Cannon 200-800mm lens, which was a little pricey, but I also received it the next day, so my second time talking with Mr. Michael **, so you can say I trusted him. I now want to purchase an extender 2.0, but he said it was not good, so I trusted him. I got a Canon extender 1.4, which he called the complete kit. He proceeded to tell me about a deal with the Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens (FULL RETAIL KIT), okay I do need another lens just in case, still taking to him I also wanted a new swivel tripod, he said I have one better, (Elite Series 80” Professional Heavy Duty Tripod), with new lens etc.

Beware of bait and switch tactics. Deceptive salesmen who will lie to get a sale. Will charge your credit card even when a sale has been cancelled. No management accountability. Most work remotely and very difficult to talk to fast talking salesperson.

Just the facts.... Draw your own conclusions. Ordered a camera and Lens. Website says "in-Stock", Ok. Few hours after placing my order I get a message to call and confirm my order - Ok. Called, Salesman then tried to sell me all kinds of extras, then informed me the camera in stock was the "US" model. And that if I wanted to get me camera asap, I need to tag on all these extras. Including their extended warranty. He said for the sales price on the website - that was for the "Import model" only. And that the import model (from China) comes with No Warranty so I ask - it's a Sony so the manufacturer's warranty is fine. He then said, the Chinese model come with (NO) warranty - NONE. Apparently this is not a real Sony. I ask and never got a straight answer.

Beware of buying anything from this company. This is nothing but a bait and switch scam artist of a business. It is not an authorized seller and it will only try to upsell you when calling to purportedly “confirm” your order. Stay away!

Placed an order with this business in October for a lens at $629. Received several phone calls from the company where they told me they did not have the item in stock and that to get the item in the 2 days promised you have to purchase the in stock item with a price difference. When I emailed a request of confirmation and to outline the discrpency, they only emailed me back a receipt of the order. They use pressure tactics to get you to commit to the up sale. The camera lens price increased to $799. While I did get the order, it did not include a manufacturer warranty only a Consumer Priority Warranty. The business practice is not morally sound with the scam they use on customers. DO NOT BUY FROM HERE, they are not accredited by BBB!

This is a scam. I ordered a canon R7 body from this vendor that was listed in stock. Then I got an email asking me to call back. When I did, they told me that the camera I ordered was not in stock and will take 6-8 weeks to be shipped from China. Then they used high pressure sales tactics trying to sell me the same camera with a bunch of cheap accessories and asked me to pay 50% more. I am blogger with tens of thousands of followers. I immediately cautioned my followers about this vendor. Unless you want to waste your time, never order anything from this vendor!

Bait and Switch!!!! Ordered a Canon lens online. Very good price, and said would ship within 2-3 days. Received a call from a rep pretending to verify my details as this is a large purchase. Then proceeded to ask If I want the "retail" model or the "import" model (which apparently I ordered)? The import has no box, lens covers, hood, etc... "Very generously" offered to upgrade me to the RETAIL version for $400 extra... Oh by the way, the one I ordered isn't in stock and will be arriving from Hong Kong in 3-6 weeks.... When I said that I felt this was a misrepresentation, he promptly cancelled my order and hung up! Will never shop here again...

Absolutely terrible. I ordered a lens and never received it. They called me and said that the one at that price had to be produced and sent over from China and would take 2-3 months. They offered a different one at a higher price to get it sooner. I said I’d wait and kept following up months later and they kept saying it would eventually come and they’d overnight it when it got there. The status on the website however, said cancelled and they were obviously lying. Luckily I was never charged but I never received what I ordered either.

UPDATE: I wanted to be fair as I said I would update my review if they resolved my order issues and they not only did but they improved upon my original order. I've included my original review below. After finally getting ahold of them I actually wound up getting a better version of the camera that I didn't know about. So they redeemed themselves and I love my new camera. Thank you!

The website was easy to navigate and I was able to find what I wanted to purchase. However, the price of the item I wanted to buy was $100 more expensive than other retailers. I did end up purchasing it from Abe's of Maine because it was in stock and ready to ship, but it's frustrating to have to pay that much more. I was also a little bit disappointed in the lack of accessories available for the camera I purchased. Maybe there were accessories, but they were hard to find.

Was easy to order online. Looking forward to receiving the camera for Christmas. I was unable to find this camera anywhere else in time for delivery. The order process was easy and quick. Bought the extended 5 year warranty for drops and accidental breakage - other companies only offered 3 year.

Abe’s of Maine is a TOTAL SCAM!!! Not to be trusted… Ordered a camera (point and shoot) which showed in stock and available, selected 3 day delivery to ensure timely delivery. Received a call a couple of days later trying to upsell me on the U.S. Retail version vs. oversees (China) model. Said, “No Thank You”… I was asked 4 separate times with a hard sales push. The price quoted (Cyber Deal) was different than the price posted on the website. Asked them to just ship what I ordered. Received a call 3 days later from a different individual who started in with the exact same script!!! Told them to stop playing games and asked that they cancel my order. BUYER BEWARE!!!! THESE INDIVIDUALS CAN NOT BE TRUSTED!!!

It was easy to find and buy it waiting for the camera to arrive and then l'll do a review telling you about my purchase and the waiting time to get it (delivery). It was kinda impossible finding the camera online but this was the only one to have it so I’m so excited about it.

I purchased a Sony rx100 vii https://www.abesofmaine.com/. Attached are images of the product listing. After purchasing, there was pop-up window from Trust Pilot requesting a review. I thought this was odd since I would not be able to review the seller so soon. Later I received an email from Abe's, stating I should call to confirm the purchase. When speaking with the customer services representative, I was informed that I had purchased a version of the camera that is not compatible in the U.S. for power and screen resolution. I would need to pay more for a U.S. version of the camera. I don't remember how much more the price was, but it was above prices quoted by other online retailers. Later the person I was speaking with lowered the price. I cancelled my order and received a cancellation confirmation email right away. My credit card was never charged. The person I spoke with was courteous.

Good service and great price. The transaction was easy to fill and process. Best pricing of high quality products. Reputable establishment and ABE'S been doing business for a long time. I have been on the hunt for this camera for a while and finally found it at a decent rate through you guys. Very easy process and love that I have the option to return if it doesn't meet my expectations. Will definitely recommend to others. Can't wait to receive my camera.

I ordered a camera and quickly received both an email and voicemail asking me to confirm the order. I was told that I had ordered the "international" version and in order to get the "American" version would be another $1500. The website was not clear about the versions and the person on the phone when I returned the voicemail couldn't explain it either except that the price was almost doubled.

This was my first order with Abe's of Maine. I found the website to be very informative and extremely easy to navigate. There was extensive inventory to choose from, along with great incentives offered for holiday shopping. Overall, it was a great shopping experience. I will definitely be returning to the Abe's of Maine website to research future electronic purchases.

My experience was great. The black Friday deal was excellent. I'm very satisfied. The only negative thing was I applied for the finance opp. to get the camera with and was approved but it turned out to be a credit card and I have to wait for the card so I would miss the black Friday deal. Now I'm stuck with the card and wasn't able to use it for the camera. Not happy about that. But Abe's of Maine is awesome.

Was looking for a point and shoot camera for the holidays. Surprised to see such a wide range available and the different qualities each camera provides. I eventually settled for the Canon SX 740. Can not wait for the camera to arrive. Looking forward to capturing moments with it b.

I went through an unnecessary hassle for over half an hour just trying to buy this product online. When attempting to complete my purchase after already selecting the financing option it kept the "Place Order" button greyed out and did not allow me to submit the order. I had to call customer service and get transferred to three different people, stay holding for 10 minutes just to be told in the end to try tomorrow. This is unacceptable customer service.

Ordering the camera I was looking for (which was the lowest price I found on the Web) couldn't have been easier. Your website's interface for making a purchase was simple and painless unlike other sites that make you jump through hoops with multiple pages and irrelevant upsells. You can bet I'll be back!
