Pending order submitted NOVEMBER 3 2017. The purchase is not online. Since it requires me to make a phone call later. I will call after receiving your order receipt mail. The order should be processed immediately without the need to make a phone call. This feature makes me not want to make another purchase in your company.

We live and learn don't we? I placed an order with this strange outfit for a Nikon D7200 and an 18-140 mm lens. They had it priced at $999.00. Best price I had see on the web even from Nikon USA themselves. I should have known it was a scam based upon that alone. I put a $350 AMEX gift card as a deposit. Leaving a balance of $649.00. I sent an email to the customer service explaining what I did and asked if they would assist me in placing the balance on my Visa to complete the sale. I explained I am handicapped and physically unable to speak. As I have no voice box. They would need to contact me by text or email me.
I received an email from Jeff ** telling me, "We need to confirm your purchase". Hmmm, really??? I don't get that from reliable stores like Best Buy, Macy's, or LL Bean. The email continued to tell me I need to call him. "Please call us at 800-992-2237 EXT 272". I sent a reply refreshing the details of my condition stating again I am unable to communicate by voice. So a call anywhere is out of the question. They should email me or text. I got a total of three emails from Jeff ** telling me to do the same thing. After a total of five emails to customer service and Jeff ** explaining my handicap and my inability to respond by phone I completely gave up. They just don't get it at Abe's of Maine.
Their ignorance has cost them a sale. A pretty good sale at that. I checked the AMEX website and found they had not yet charged the gift card for the purchase. I immediately headed for Best Buy and purchased the camera and lens. I used the gift card as the down payment. I placed the balance on my Best Buy card with no finance for 12 months. Understood, I did pay a little more there than Abe's of Maine. I have peace of mind knowing Best Buy will stand behind the sale 100%. They don't try and upsell me. They respond to and handle issues accordingly. And I have the unit in my hands. The rating here is only five stars. If able I would have graciously given them a well deserved -35 stars. They are the pits.

I called in with a few questions about a product I was interested and I was met with a very rude person on the other phone. After a few questions he said, "what's it matter where we get our products" and that they don't need customers like me. I guess by that they mean they don't need sales to be in business.

I purchased a camcorder on Abe’s of Maine scam website which said it was in stock. After doing a checkout I was in communication with the company about related aspects. I was told the camcorder was no longer in stock but they did have the same model with bundled items at a higher price point. I mentioned I could not afford the extra amount. They offered to drop the price. I asked for an email stating what I would be getting. I told them I would need some time to consider. They offered a free filter. I asked for a confirmation email to that confirmed the price they quoted. I was then told that I had said I wanted the camcorder and they had already billed the credit card for the item price a couple thousand. Note they have a restocking fee. I was told to send the item back after requesting the order be canceled and that I had not said yes. That's when things got really bad.
I was told did I want to listen to the recording saying I had. I asked for the supervisor. The sales agent Steve put me on hold briefly and said the supervisor had listened to the recording and agreed I had confirmed. I said I would call the credit card company and have that reversed. They said they would send the recording to the credit card company. I eventually hung up. They called me back saying we got disconnected. They attempted to sell me, I threatened bad reviews and said to cancel the order. I hung up, they kept calling back and each time tried offering a lower price and a few more items to help me with the current experience. I told them during this not to call me back and to cancel the order.
By this time I was seeing red and on the verge of a migraine. On the last call, the supervisor called me and tried to sell me. I mentioned how I was a filmmaker, knew people in the media and did they want a backlash on the internet. After that only did the supervisor hang up. I wasn’t sure at that point if the credit card had been billed for the online order and the forced sale on the bundle. Best case for them it would have been several hundred on a re-stocking fee had I been a push over. In all my years of ordering online, Abe’s of Maine was the worst ever experience. No matter what the item or the price, DO NOT buy anything from Abe’s of Maine, a scam company from hell.

I ordered a Canon 5D III from Abe's Of Maine. According to their email, they would ship the product to me within 3 business days. Free shipping on the item. On checkout, shipping is shown as $0.00 but was followed by a phone call requesting payment for insurance and referring to the fine print on the terms and conditions: "Since our products are high valued and delicate in nature all orders are subject to a shipping handling and insurance charge. You will be notified of the insurance cost at time of order confirmation and the charge will reflect on your final invoice which will be emailed to you at the time we contact you to finalize your order." Offered white glove delivery or an HDMI cable (both relative worthless) when I complained about the added charge. On a positive note, they did cancel the order when I asked that it be canceled.

Samsung UN75J6300 75-Inch Class Full HD 1080p Smart LED TV - Jeff tried to upsell me from a commercial model to a consumer model. I was having it professionally installed and called my installation expert who contacted Samsung who said that was false. This is a consumer model. Free shipping is not free. You receive an initial invoice with free shipping and you get an email to call Jeff to confirm your order. Jeff informed me I had to pay freight insurance of several hundred dollars. That is not free shipping.

Rude customer service. Was sent email asking for call to confirm my purchase. Called the number and extension and was connected to a man who maligned all New Yorkers on top of attempts to tack on additional charges. When I refused his comments and attempts to string me along with add-ons, he said "you NY'ers are all the same." He then threatened to charge me a cancellation charge of 15% of the total ($115.25) stating I had placed the order but not declining the order thereby telling me that I would be charged a cancellation charge.

Ordered expensive television from AbesofMaine.com because they were listed $500 less than the cheapest I found elsewhere. Once ordered, I received a call next day verifying whether I meant to order European model. This was of course not my intent, but their "US" model was $900 more. No! But they did cede and match my lowest offer from a local company here and offered to throw in a free $230 "white glove" shipping. So I went forward. Received order outside the 7-14 day shipping window promised. The "white glove" premium delivery is a scam. For $230, they brought it in my living room floor, plugged it in to make sure it worked, and left. They told me they could not lift it onto my entertainment center, connect the stand or plug anything in due to liability. Then what is the white glove for? Sketchy stuff going on here. My recommendation - go to a reputable company - Best Buy or Amazon.

I bought from Abe’s because I had dealt with them satisfactorily long ago - regret it. Same thing happened to me. Ordered a camera and they called and said I order European model (no mention on the ad). I could get the US model for 150 more. Scam. Then, when they re-did the order, they left out the suite number for delivery. This is when I found out their customer service is as bad as their orders. Even though I was calling in the middle of the day (NJ time) they would not answer. Finally I called sales -of course they answered immediately. After three forwards, they hung up. Luckily FedEx is on the ball and called about the suite. Camera came packed horribly but I know I'll never get any satisfaction from Abe’s. I'll have to hope it works. I wish I would have ordered from someone reputable.

As many of the reviews state I purchased a LG 4k television online. The next day I received a phone call advising I had purchased the European model which would not work in the US. They tried to convert me to the US model which would work and cost $ 400 more. All of this was nothing more than BS and a bait and switch scheme. Of course I canceled. This outfit is dishonest and should not be dealt with no matter what price they might offer. I am sure they will do anything to cheat a customer. BUYER BEWARE.

The price of the TV in the website is for a European model not US model. The ad does not state it was a European model. I have looked at the description of the TV and I cannot find where it states it is for Europe. Who sells a European model in the US. The price went way up after calling me and telling me a US model is much more expensive. I read many complaints that complain about the exact same thing.

Blatant effort to cheat me out of 3 to 4 hundred dollars-I had placed an order for a Canon lens without the extras that are often to sell it, bulk package such is called. A question technical question came to mind about the size of the UV protector needed, and I called Abe's of Maine to see exactly what the needed size was and what it would cost to add that to lens I had ordered. The Abe salesmen then told me to buy the lens in a package, not telling me the ridiculous cost of the unneed package. When off the phone I looked into such cost differences, I tried phoning back but found my number was blocked. I got through to someone at one point but was told it was told the store was closed--ridiculous, given I was in the same time zone, 4 pm. I purchased a LG OLED65C6P for $2299 (no charge for freight) 5-17-17 at a Memorial day sale. The next morning I received a call from Steven to call him at 800-992-2237 ext 272. He told me that I had ordered an European model and that the USA model is $2999. I said, "No, I did not order a European model and that I am not going to pay $2999."
I found the advertisement and it was still current on the internet for $2999 and listed two specs for it that were both USA Specs. I called back up and asked for the manager. I said that I am looking at the ad and it is a US model and I want it for $2299. I was told that the best I could do was $2499. I said, "No." I want the one they are advertising right now. They finally conceded and said that it will be $2299 but they are not delivering it free but will charge $290 due to insurance on the delivery. I said, "No," and said, "I will do all in my power to expose Abe's of Maine as a dishonorable company." My receipt is copied off the screen at the end of the sale. I did not see a way to print it. I am sure now that that was on purpose on the part of Abe's.

I placed an order for a very specific Samsung 75" TV that I have purchased a number of times over the past couple years from various retailers -- a Samsung 75J6300 75" Smart LED TV. I was having the unit shipped to a different office and received an e-mail from "Jeff **" in their "customer service" department to confirm the order. While I was on the phone he said, "Are you sure you want the commercial model made in China and not the consumer model made in Mexico?" Of course the consumer model was "better" and was roughly $600 more than the model I bought ($1579).
I checked my previous order and the model was exactly the same, so I called back and he basically said, "Do more research and call us back." I told him to just cancel the order because I didn't appreciate the attitude. I'll end up paying more for it now but at least it will come from a reputable source. I highly doubt that Samsung makes different versions of the same TV with the exact same part number, and I'm also curious why if there's a different one available their website doesn't show it. Steer clear.

I ordered a TV from the website. I received an email 2 days later to call their customer service number to process the order. I had to call multiple times before I could talk to someone even during their business hours which are also very restricted. That person tried to sell me different warranties and accessories. There was no any other purpose for that call. After the call, he told me that TV will be shipped soon. On their website and also in confirmation email, they told me that I would receive TV in 7-14 days.
When I didn't see any update on the order tracker, I called again, multiple times it went to their voicemail and of course no one called back. Finally I got hold of someone and they told me that they didn't have that TV in stock. She wasn't sure when they would get it and ship it to me. But told that it may take 3-4 weeks or more. At that point I asked her to cancel the order and she just did it without any apologies. They should not have sold item that they didn't have. There should be no need for us to call them after we have purchased what we wanted, after looking their annoying suggestions for warranties and accessories already. There should have been communication from their end if ordered item was not available.

You place the order and you receive a confirmation email with receipt etc. showing total price to pay with free shipping. Then they send you an email telling you to call them to confirm your order. When you call you get someone who states "I just wanted to let you know we charge an extra $200 for insurance and service charge that they plan to charge me in addition to my quote and receipt charge". This is a simple bait and switch and extremely disappointing. I will take my business elsewhere.

Zero Trust or Confidence. Horrible service. Buyer beware. During the Thanksgiving 2016 sales rush I placed an order for a Sony XRB-65x850D flat screen and was told product in stock. Dec. 1 I was sent this e-mail, "Please contact our order confirmation department at 1-800-992-2237 and speak with Jeff at ext ** to complete and confirm your order". Was upsold and when I said I just wanted what I ordered I was told of a back order. Three week later I called, spoke with Jeff ** and was told stock available again by sales. I gave him my order number and was sent to customer service. 1-hour hold hung up, I was hung up on three times after 1 hr holds and I sent a total of four emails to customer service with no replies. The one time that I did finally speak with so-called customer service I was reconnected to Jeff and told of another back order. ABE's now shows that the order has been cancelled. I never cancelled the order.
I had worked with Abe's of Maine in the past and was sadly mistaken to believe that their sales tactics and service could be worse, they jammed me up with gray market trash and then inflict stocking fees if one refunds or exchanges - a real battle. In my opinion and based on two transactions I wouldn't trust Abe's of Maine for anything. As it is I am deeply concerned that they have my credit card #. I have to imagine that the warranty that they try to upsell is as good as the rest of the outfit, pure dreck! I declined, and again told him to cancel the order. Again, he pressed for me to purchase the "optional" items. This repeated several times until I finally demanded that the order be cancelled.
I was sent to 'customer service' (I don't think it exists) and was promptly disconnected. I attempted to call their customer service number, but was disconnected immediately. I had to call my credit card company to tell them to deny any charges from them. Then, I received ANOTHER phone call telling me the order was cancelled, but they would be charging me a 15% restocking fee (odd, since the charge for the item never went through). I purchased on their website, the new Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200-500 mm f/5.6E ED VR Lens for the sale price of $1139.00, and all the photos show the collar, lens, hood and bag in them. You assume everything is included in the price. They charged me an additional price of $140 to add the hood, collar and bag, when it should have been already included in the price. Abe's of Maine is the only company who charges extra for the accessories. The false, low price of $1,139.00 draws customers, and if you to try and add the accessories kit on their site, it is nowhere to be seen, to add to your purchase.
This is a scam they use to get you to purchase their items, and when you receive your items in the mail, and realize the accessories are not included in the $1,139.00 price, they will charge you a restocking fee, if you try to send it back. I personally had to spend over an hour on the phone with a supervisor to try and negotiate the restocking fee. Buyers beware of bait-and-switch scams this company practices. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau to further investigate their fraudulent practices.

I waited five years to purchase the newest technology from Canon. My budget was an important so I looked for the absolute best buy for my money. Abe's advertised the Canon 5D Mark 4 at about three hundred dollars less than B&H. I called Abe's and was told that if I wanted the USM 5D, which was not the one advertised, that I had to pay $200.00 more. I was assured that it was the USM 5D Mark 4. I also purchased a 24-104 4.0 IS USM Lens for about $300.00 savings. All together my savings were about $500.00
Sounded too good to be true, well it was. I looked at Reviews about Abe's and they were all negative. Everyone warned not to deal with Abe's. But I decided to wait and see what arrived before cancelling my order. On the phone they do try to talk you into additional accessories. They wanted an additional $100.00 for a lens hood and 77mm filter, which they assured me was top of the line. The lens hood is available on Amazon for $24.00, and when I received the high-end filter I was promised, I looked it up online and found it for $7.00. So they already lied about all of that.
When I got my camera and lens in the mail, they were both in a large cardboard box. When I opened the box I found my camera in a Canon Kit box that had been opened previously. There was no warranty card! The 24-105 Macro IS Lens was in a plain white box with styrofoam and had no booklet or warranty card. The box was not A Canon Lens Box, and the lens was not sealed. I was pretty upset about the entire ordeal and was seriously thinking about returning everything. I called Canon to confirm the serial numbers, but they WON'T DO THAT. They said they cannot verify a serial number. I told them my story and they said that I probably got a gray market camera and lens, which translates as European Market. The woman at Canon said that Canon will cover the Camera for one year and the lens, but that it was not a US or Canadian camera.
I did some research, and this has happened to quite a few people. The only positive is that I saved $500.00, and in truth, the camera is fantastic. The lens is perfect, and the images are stellar. To say it's from the European Market is not so bad, they have great photographers too. Both the Lens and Camera were made in Japan, so the big difference is the warranty issue.
The real issue is that Abe's lied about the validity of these products and intentionally deceived me into thinking they were the exact items listed on B&H website. I asked them up front to verify they were both USA products, and they assured me they were, knowing it was a lie. The extra hundred dollars for the hood and filter was absolutely a ripoff, and they do that so be aware!! I'm not going to return these items because they work just fine, but would I ever deal with Abe's again? Absolutely NOT!!! They are a bait and switch company, and I should have listened.

When I reached "Jeff" I was told that in fact I needed to buy some kind of upgrade which would make my TV suitable for residential use. What? Baloney. Nope, and it would cost me several hundred dollars more.
"Jeff" indicated that I would not get my TV that I ordered. I promptly cancelled (after their notice to me of breach). Today I have sent notice to Abe's of Maine under the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act ("advertising goods with intent not to sell them as advertised"), seeking damages and attorney's fees. I'm not going to just let this go because as I see from other reviewers, this is a systemic deceptive ploy by Abe's. See you in court, Abe's. Clean up your act and be honest. The conversation started by thanking me for placing the order but adding "by the way, are you aware that the TV you ordered is made in China and not Mexico?" Having read many similar complaints on file, and expecting an upsell attempt, I replied "Yes". The call ended there and I was told the product would arrive in 7 to 14 days. I then contacted Sony who stated that there was no difference in this model being manufactured in China as opposed to Mexico - they were identical. Now I am waiting for another notification attempting another tact. If so, I will cancel my order and purchase it from Best Buy for $1999 before Saturday, when their sale ends.

They 'bait' you with a killer deal online. Like no other company in the world, they make you confirm it!? Suddenly, that item is on backorder so they up-sell you something else. They told me it was USA-made, it was not. It was impossible tracking down a human for a RMA number. The package was untouched but they're making me pay crazy shipping and a restocking fee. Just another way for this fraudulent company to make money. After finally getting this scammer on the phone, he argued with me when I wanted to return it. They could care less about satisfying customers. I'm pretty sure it's just one guy in his mom's basement anyhow.

All of the reviews where you read that you have to call "Jeff" and confirm your order are 100% true. I placed an order for a high end camera, only to receive the email to "call and confirm". While on the phone, they tried to tell me the camera did not include a strap, a battery, a battery charger, and other obvious things that are inside the box of any nice camera. They try to add things on to your order and completely lie and try to deceive buyers, only to swindle you out of hundreds extra. Luckily, I was able to cancel. They are dishonest and deceitful. Believe all of the negative reviews... do a simple google search, you'll find them. They are true, do not do business with this company.

Then Jeff tried to upsell me to the US version for $ 500 more. After doing a little research I found that LG doesn't sell a 230v tv and I said that it would be fine ship it. The next day they said it was suddenly back ordered and would be 2 - 3 weeks. After 13 days I just went online to their website to track order and my order could not be found. In the market to purchase an LG OLED television. Have been shopping for a good price for a while. Thought Abe's of Maine was legit and their price was substantially under market. Not as low as the other rip-off artists, but lower than most. Their policy states: "All Products include USA Manufacturer's Warranty unless otherwise stated." So, after placing the order, I get the email to call Jeff and confirm the order. Jeff asks me if I want the U.S. model since the one at that price requires 230V. That indicates that it is a non-U.S. model. He tried to parse the words stating that they disclosed it as a non-U.S. model and that he could sell me that one for several hundreds of dollars more. Of course, they do not even list the U.S. model on their site. Avoid.

After over a week I received an email requesting I call the "order confirmations" line and speak with "Jeff", who told me they oversold the product and the product I'd be getting was a commercial model, that isn't as good as a residential model and something the residential model being made in Mexico vs. Korea. I decided to cancel the order, as I don't like being told that I need to spend $400 more than my original order. Ordered a Samsung UN65KS8000F on Black Friday for $1419. All the other stores were asking $1499 for the same model. Abe's emailed me to call to confirm my order. Jeff at Abe's asked me if I wanted the commercial or residential tv? He said this is the commercial unit and if I wanted the residential tv (which he of course said was much better) it would cost $1800. Asking how one would know a commercial model #, Jeff replied that you wouldn't know unless you saw the serial number. When I called Samsung they of course told me there was no such thing as a commercial tv with that model number. And further explained that a commercial tv was built with sturdier edges and frames, not less picture quality. Of course fearful of what they would actually send to me I canceled the ordered.

I read some reviews about them today and found out they are no longer an official Canon dealer. I called their customer service department to follow up on my order and they said that it was on back order without a definite delivery date. I cancelled the order and bought the camera from B&H for $150 more. By the way Abe's still shows it as being in stock. I followed up 24 hours after cancelling and they still showed to order as pending. I called customer service and their representative refused to give me his name. DO NOT TRUST ABE'S OF MAINE!!! Read the reviews all over the web about how this company is a scam. I had a horrible experience with them. First they make you call to confirm every order which pretty much makes ordering online obsolete. They make you call so that they can tell you your order is out of stock and then try to sell you more items or to try to increase the price of their order by sending generic batteries and disks that do not work with many higher end cameras.
The customer service is horrendous!!! Not only did I have to pay $15 for a address correction made by my computers auto-fill out (which I understand isn't their fault) but typically with Amazon you can correct this information prior to the package arriving at your home for free. Especially when the package hasn't even left the packaging state yet. Then when I tried to return my order because I was so fed up with calling them, I was charged a 15% restocking fee for an item I never even received. BUYER BEWARE!!! Even though other websites may be more expensive, I will NEVER shop at Abe's of Maine again for free that I will not receive a US ready and REAL camera (many of their cameras have been found to be fakes). Check out their reviews online please!!! You will see that I am not the only one that has had MAJOR problems with this company.

Typical bait and switch, tried to add on extra batteries, insurance, shipping, etc. Only then did I find out the lens is 4-6 weeks backorder. I called back and asked if he could give me free 3-day shipping (an otherwise $44.99 charge). He said the best he could do is $5 off. I said, "Okay, I might have to cancel the order because I couldn't wait 3 weeks for the free ground shipping." He proceeded to say "Okay I will cancel your order... etc.". I said "No, I MIGHT have to cancel. I need to think about it."
Jeff starts screaming at me: "You have to make a decision right now: do you want free shipping or the 3-day shipping?" "Are you normal?" "You can't ask me 5000 questions right now!" I calmly told him, "That's no way to talk to a customer who has general questions." I asked him EXACTLY when the camera would arrive and if it could potentially take longer if I got the free ground shipping... he said (screamed): "No, it will not take longer. It takes 14 business days." "I can't answer your questions anymore". So I said "If you know exactly how long it takes, how can you not tell me an approximate date? I need to know so I can plan accordingly."
Jeff continued to lose his cool with me, acting like a petulant child and being extremely unprofessional. Finally he says to me, "That's it. I'm canceling your order. You're not getting this camera." And he hung up. I received a call from Jason - Customer service representative about half an hour later. He was apologetic. My mother has been putting money away for a new television for almost a year now. She is finally ready to purchase and asked me for some assistance. I found her the LG 55EF9500 and searched Google shopping for the best price. Abe's of Maine came up (image attached) with a price of $2329 with no tax and free shipping. This television sells for $2999 in most all big box retailers and she just couldn't afford that much. She was however willing to stretch her budget a little to accommodate the $2329 price. Having dealt with them many years ago, I advised my Mom that this is a good company and to go ahead and make the purchase. She did. Boy was that a mistake.
The next day she received a call, first asking her to purchase extended warranty plans, and when she declined, telling her that she would have to pay $289 for the shipping. She questioned this and was then told that it's to cover the insurance on the shipment. She texted me what was going on and I told her not to pay them anything more than she already had. Their website specifically stated free shipping in not one but two places (once on the product page itself and another when you are checking out). The man who called her (Jeff ** x **) was rude to her and she got off the phone and asked me to step in.
I called Jeff and asked what was going on. He fed me the same line about paying for the insurance of the shipment. I responded by saying "you cannot state free shipping in multiple places on your website and then call and basically say 'Ha ha, just kidding, pay us another $289 or you don't get the product'." He started yelling at me (bear in mind I did not speak to him in an agitated voice in any way), saying I shouldn't bother ever calling them again until I "learned how to speak to people". I told him to cancel the order and hung up. My advice is to never do business with this company. He offered TWO 5 hour batteries for 59.99. He also offered 3-5 day shipping so I could get my camera before next weekend. I agreed to the purchase and the total was 698.00. After I got off the phone I thought about the purchase and changed my mind. I called back around 12:50 pm and advised Jeff that I wanted to cancel my order. Jeff became very angry with me and told me that I could not cancel because it's already been shipped. At this point I hadn't even received my receipt. Which totally confused me because it was only 10 minutes.
Jeff told me that I was able to get refund but less the cancellations fee and the shipping charge which was about $129.99. I asked Jeff to speak to a manager and told me that the manager would be busy for an hour. He told me I could sit on the phone if I wanted to but NO ONE was available to speak to me but HIM. I attempted to call back twice and he hung the phone up on me when he realized it was me. In the process of Jeff hollering at me he made references to me being hard of hearing. The way he was talking to me put me in such of place of hurt, confusion and anger. I constantly asked him why was he speaking to me in this tone and manner? When a customer calls out of state and makes an order they want to feel like they can trust the sales representative especially when giving financial information over the phone. I have used Abe's before and have NEVER ever had this issue.
As a professional photographer I will never use this company again because of JEFF. I called back and spoke to Jason. Jason is the most professional and apathetic manager I have spoken to in a while. He was very attentive and apologetic to me in regards to Jeff. I honestly think he didn't believe that Jeff would speak to ANYONE in the manner that he spoke to me. I have worked in customer service for years and I would never, even on my WORSE DAY, speak to a potential customer in this manner. I really encourage you guys to review the conversation, if capable, of Jeff and I. I can guarantee that he will be either FIRED or SEVERELY REPRIMANDED.
Jason did VOID my transaction and tried to make amends for the way Jeff treated me but at this point I was totally over the purchase and just wanted my money back. I really wished I would have spoken to Jason first because all of this could have been avoided. Abe's lost a valuable customer today. I might not spend thousands of dollars monthly on equipment but no one deserves to be treated in such a manner when dealing with money especially over the phone. Of course after that, he tried to sell me extra cards, battery, extended warranty, etc. I will never buy from Abe's of Maine again, knowing that the price they list is not the price you get. It's just false advertising.

I first ordered a camera and was contacted a day later and told it wasn't a US camera and didn't have a good charger, battery and warranty so I upgrade to the US Model. It came in a box with Japanese writing and no Warranty. When I spoke to customer service they stated it was a US camera and I didn't need the warranty card and could just register it on the canon website and that it was a US camera. I asked him to put that in writing in an email and send it to me. He stated he couldn't and when I asked why if it was true he said he couldn't say. I also had ordered a Canon extra battery which they switched to an off brand for 79.00. I looked up the same battery on Amazon for sale at 14.95 with free shipping. When I said I wanted to return the camera he said I would have to pay shipping and a 15% restocking fee. I didn't return it and he knocked 45.00 off the price. Will never order from them again...

Based on my 46 years of experience as a retailer & consumer, I believe that Abe's of Maine does lots of Bait & Switch and is not an authorized dealer of many name brands. Aside from the other negatives reports as such on this website, I found many others so BEFORE I placed a website order for a $1185 Sony TV, I emailed this merchant: "I am too intelligent to fall for bait & switch, so I hereby ask BEFORE placing my order on your website for SKU #: SNXBR55X850B | Part #: XBR-55X850B TV for $1185 including delivery to 89002 zip code. Is this TV brand new, unopened with full USA factory warranty, all paperwork in English?"
The response I received is "Thank you very much for your inquiry Abe's Of Maine. Please contact our Sony specialist ** at 1-800-992-2237 ext ** so that we could put something together and we can answer all your questions. Your business is greatly appreciated and we look forward to hearing from you soon! Sincerely, ** Customer Service". Since the merchant could not answer my simple questions in writing, my experience tells me that this merchant is falsely advertising products as stated by other reviewers and a phone call would likely result in someone trying to sell me something else or at a higher price. Bottom Line: If life hasn't already taught you this lesson, if something seems too good to be true, it usually is!

Extremely skeptical... Ordered a Samsung UN75HU8550 from Abe's online several days ago. Received a simultaneous call and email yesterday morning asking me to confirm my order. The sales rep informed me that I had unwittingly ordered the Canadian model of the TV and that it would not work in the US. I frequent the Great White North quite a bit and I've never run into any differences with the television compatibility issues -- Canadian whiskey also seems to not have compatibility issues with being used in the US. However, they did offer to let me upgrade to the US version of the TV for an extra $1600. As such, my guard is up. I smell a bait and switch. I posted a negative review of that experience on another site and they immediately contacted me to follow up on my experience. I was assured that they would send me the "Canada" model of the TV, that it would not work in the US, but that they would still complete and ship me the order.
I have heard nothing from them since. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm thinking one of a few things will happen: 1) They will never contact me again and my order will be lost in the void, 2) They'll suddenly be out of stock of the Canadian model, 3) I'll receive my TV and everything will work fine. I'll let you guess which 2 options I'm thinking will happen... I'll update/change this review after 7-10 business days when the TV is supposed to arrive, but as of yet there aren't any pending charges on my credit card.

I wanted to buy my wife a 50 mm lens for her Nikon and did a search. Abe's had it for about 20% less than everybody else and, without thinking it through, bought it quickly. My heart sank a little when I got an e-mail and a phone call wanted to discuss the purchase since I have had shady upsells in these situations with other companies. I searched for Abe's of Maine reviews and it SEEMED to confirm what I expected. Still, I called back and spoke to a nice guy who wanted to know if I had realized I had bought a new factory-fresh import model.
In essence, I clicked on the grey market version (they do sell the US version at a market rate price, by the way). I told him I hadn't realized it and told him that I would like to cancel the order (the price differential is such that I'd rather pay for the peace of mind of a covered warranty). Instead, he said he would go ahead and send me the US version for the price I paid. I waited for the other shoe to drop, but there was no other shoe. It was shipped free (I didn't opt for the faster shipping) and today I received a perfectly new, US version of the lens. I would definitely buy from them again: just don't fear their follow-up phone call.

Ordered TV- Abe's did not call to deliver. My husband realized we provided the wrong phone number when he looked at the invoiced. Called Abe's of Maine and spoke with Mike who told my husband that the TV was with shipper that we needed to call him directly. Called shipper - ** and he delivered TV, he made my husband open the box and take out the TV to check for damages because they would not return if it was damaged after the shipper left. No damages so husband started to install TV when I realized it was the wrong TV and thought it was a mistake. We check our credit card and we were charged an additional $700 over our invoice. This was on a Sunday and Abe's at this time was closed.
Called first thing Monday morning discuss. I was told that at some point my husband authorized this upgrade which could not have happened because they could not contact us and when we called the upgraded TV was already with the shipper. They refused to refund or exchange the TV. So not only was the price for the TV we order incorrect (import price) which we would have declined and cancelled had they gotten a hold of us but they shipped us a different TV and charged us for that TV, then attempt to blame me and told me several times that the conversations were recorded but if that was the case they would have been able to prove we did not authorize. NO ONE ever produced recording. This is more than a bait and switch. This is fraud. Filed with BBB and the VP ** again claimed we authorized the upgrade and because we attempted to install they could not take it back. Just sad!

Next day I received a call asking me if I want to upgrade to the US model paying extra $100, since I had selected the Imported model during my purchase. First, there was not an option to select US model or Imported model in their website (I even have a screenshot to prove it). I asked what the difference was and the seller said that imported model had a different charger, and the camera didn't have warranty. I didn't like what I heard, and asked him to cancel my purchase, to what he said, "It is okay we will send you the US model at no extra charge and you'll receive warranty too". I agreed and it was the big mistake ever!!!
Three days later I received a fake Canon camera. I have bought several Canon cameras before and this is completely fake. It starts with the packing. Nothing is sealed. It has an awful paper sheet that is supposed to be the manual. The battery is wrapped in a kind of tape that has all "Canon information" on it. It is a cheap imitation of what a real Canon Camera is. As a professional photographer it was both impressive and refreshing to deal with a company that's so knowledgeable about the products they sell. I felt like I was dealing with other pros. They make the buying process easy and stress-free. I will definitely be back when it's time to purchase again!

Great experience with Abe's of Maine. Their prices for the item I was looking for were far lower than competitors. So much so that I wanted to wait and be sure we got a quality product (by testing it out for a while) before posting a review. Customer service was great, fast shipping, and the item is great. Will definitely order from Abe's of Maine again and recommend this retailer to others.

While searching for competitive price for Nikon D3300 I came across Abe's of Maine. I ordered online and as most of the people here complain I got a call from ** and he asked me whether I want a one with US WARRANTY or IMPORT MODEL. He clarified me about the difference. I think even if you go to a Brick and Mortar store they try to sell you extra and I think it is very natural. When I told him I want the item I ordered and within a week I get what I ordered in excellent condition. I think they don't deserve so much negative comments.

My old Nikon camera recently died. I needed a new one and did a google search for the best price and found Abe's of Maine. I was thrilled to see a great deal on a brand new Nikon cam with a lens! But after I bought it, I received an email shortly after to call a service rep at the store. I got an electronic menu where I left my number. Another number called me back shortly after telling me the Camera I purchased was not a genuine Nikon, came with no warranty and did not have genuine Nikon parts. Their website shows the exact parts that do come with the real Nikon's!
And that for only a paltry 250 dollars more I could buy a warrantied Nikon camera, and that he could apply some coupons, but what he doesn't mention is that he doesn't actually carry Nikon USA cameras. They are from a 3rd party international seller who is not recognized by Nikon USA, the warranty is not recognized at all as being legit! Nikon will not honor it, Nikon's website warns about these types of resellers.
I am very disappointed, but tremendously thankful that this creep emailed me otherwise I would have been stuck with this knockoff! Don't believe him! The fine print of the website clearly states he is not a Nikon USA seller and that Nikon doesn't provide warranties for cameras that Abe's of Maine sells the warranty he offers is from a 3rd party vendor that is not recognized by Nikon.
Do not believe the good price, go with an authorized reseller or from the links from Nikon. I would have never known I had bought a knockoff unless he had called me to try and bait and switch me for a better shinier "warrantied" camera! Even after canceling the order it is still showing up as being prepped for shipping. I am going to be forced to go through PayPal to make sure this is actually even getting refunded! Please do not shop here! This is shady business and really preying on people looking for a deal.

I placed an order for a D810 camera. I received an email saying that I need to call to verify the order which no reputable company does. I messaged back and said that I did not need to call because I had placed the order on their site (so they knew what I wanted) and that I had already verified the paypal payment. There was nothing else that needed done by phone.
I also said that I was reluctant to call because I knew of the "chinese version" scam. THEY still messaged back using the scam. It is where they tell you that the model you ordered is a "Japan or China Model" and doesn't come with any accessories (despite being brand new) and it will cost you hundreds more to get the item you want. NONE OF THIS IS TRUE, I VERIFIED WITH NIKON.

I found a TV on Google Shopping by looking for the model number on Google. Found a great deal on the TV I was looking for and decided to buy from Abe's through PayPal. Made the purchase and it went through not thinking I would have to do anything else but wait for the shipment. I get an email, that does not state the issue, asking me to call in about my purchase. The guy goes on to tell me that he's only trying to keep me from getting the wrong TV, that the one I selected was a commercial version that doesn't have all the features and wouldn't work how I thought.
So I asked him about the listing where it did not state any of that on the page where the TV was listed and actually states BRAND NEW, RETAIL, USA, and other things but does not state COMMERCIAL LIMITED FEATURES or anything like that, and then He says, "Well it says "Factory Fresh Import"," which still does not communicate the lack of features. The TVs which there are many they sell like this pop up on Google Shopping as the best deals before other legit sellers and what they are doing is illegal and this is just the first place I am reporting them. I am a business owner myself with a BA in Business Admin focusing in Small Business Ownership and Entrepreneurship and what this company is doing is unethical, fraudulent, and misleading to consumers and everyone should report them until they are put out of business, it makes me sick.

However, when I clicked on the advertisement, I was taken to the page where the price was shown as $1,689. When I called the company, the salesperson confirmed that $1,589 is a correct price and started taking my order. At the very end, after taking all my information including name, credit card number, address, phone numbers, email, etc., the salesperson informed me that for that price they sell only a Japanese version of the camera. He explained to me that everything in the camera is in Japanese and not word in English. He suggested that I buy the English version for $1,999. I decided against this.
Then during 20 minutes he tried to talk me into buying the camera for this price. During the conversation, I looked up online information about foreign versions of Nikon cameras and discovered that the salesperson was lying there are no Japanese language only Nikon cameras. However the set was cold like it had been sitting outside for months. I told the delivery people I wasn't gonna plug it in because the set was too cold and would be ruined if powered on. I let the set warm up 4 hours before plugging in and turning on.
When I did the screen was badly cracked (from The cold no doubt). I had to wait till Monday call because they leave early on Friday. Only to have Frank and Sally tell me basically I spent $1500.00 for nothing and they wouldn't send me a new set. They suggested calling LG. I called LG and they told me they would not fix or replace and to call Abe's Of Maine. I then called Chase bank and told them what had happened. They got my money back thank God. Ok, here's how it works. You find a tv or camera etc...on at a much lower price than everyone else online and order it and get email saying so. They then simply don't process the order, and when you call to find out what happened to you order, they'll transfer you to someone with a name "who's handling your order". Then you'll get the oh, we wanted to let you know that this the "foreign version" and should upgrade to a US version for a price. This is all bologna! They’re trying to use the difference between PAL and NTSC standard from the analog era. Old foreign electronics used the PAL standard 50 cycle hz as opposed to America NTSC standard 60 cycle hz. This is the HD era so this doesn't wash.
You have to ask yourself, why would they being selling "foreign versions" in the US? Believe me if a tv had these major differences you can believe it would be listed in the model #, check with the manufacturer. You may also get the "residential vs commercial version" scam, so beware of this also. This is simply a sleazy scam to draw in sales over their competitors. Use the old adage "If it sounds too good to be true it probably isn't." Save yourself a headache! Do your research from manufacturers and buy from reputable dealers. These places are nothing but phony salesmen with a good line of B.S. Good luck and think!

Please please please - save yourselves the headache and don't buy from these people. I can't believe they are even still in business! What amazes me is that they have many fake 5-star reviews they have people write, (probably for money) with all the rest of the one star reviews - please don't be fooled. They are LIARS and DECEPTIVE.
After purchasing a TV online I get "the" call (same call all other customers are getting) telling me that I purchased a "commercial" version of a Samsung TV with limited warranty and that the screen itself is not made by Samsung - really? Well I actually called the Samsung support line and found out that this is all BS. Basically once they lure you to buy from them by advertising a very low price, they CONFIRM the order and take your credit card info. They call you the next day to try and get more money out of you. Then - I told them OK I would like to proceed with the inferior "commercial" version i bought - guess what? now I have to pay additional $300 for insurance. WHAT? $300 to insure a TV shipment?
Basically they advertise prices they can't really meet and then try to "scare" you by telling you that you are buying an inferior model, to squeeze more money out of you. I was transferred to a manager that didn't pick up and asked that they call me back to only never hear back. Once I finally got to speak with the manager I was told that unless I pay more money they will not honor the order.
Please - don't be fooled by the low prices. I have actually consulted my legal advisor and am planning to take legal action against them as they did not honor the confirmed order. Clearly they do not deserve to be in business and I will do whatever I can to make sure this story is told in EVERY review site possible to spare poor customers the hassle of dealing with crooks. PLEASE BE WARNED.

Placed the order on 1/23/2015 and received an email stating to call Dave. He gave me the same spiel about the screens being inferior on the model I purchased. However for $270 more I can have the screen that I saw at Best Buy. He even said to look up Samsung Screen Lottery on a search engine to see how Samsung manufactures their products and uses 3-4 different manufacturers for the screen. Dave said the TV we purchased, the lower priced model, was one you would find at Costco... offered longer warranty (3 years), and special delivery.
I am very confused, as I have found information about the differences in the screen quality and also found bad reviews about the bait & switch tactics at Abe's of Maine. I don't know what to believe. Shame on Abe's if they are misrepresenting the products they sell and stealing from consumers. As it turns out, the appliances took 9 days to go from New Jersey to Pittsburgh and were stored in a warehouse in Ohio for several days. When they finally arrived, there was a dent in the refrigerator. I accepted the refrigerator with the condition that the dented door would be replaced.
I have been calling Abe's since the delivery and have spent hours on the phone.
