Placed an order and was quickly called by one of the sales reps at Abe's. After haggling on some delivery/insurance add-ons they finally agreed to honor the internet price. Would have been 5 stars if not for the high pressure sales tactics.

After over a week of waiting, I check my order and it says that order is still not shipped. I call customer support and waited approximately 30 minutes and finally getting transferred to someone named "Joe" at extension # **. He told me they were trying to contact me to figure out which TV I wanted since there are two types of the one I ordered. I ordered a Samsung 40'' H6350. He states there is a retail version and a commercial version, supposedly the commercial version is meant to be used as a monitor and a retail is the one I want which costs more. I thought I was getting a good deal but instead they wanted instead of $539, $599, which is $60 higher. Also told me mine comes with only a 90-day warranty instead of the 1-year warranty. He told me he will email me with the two models and that I can call him back with my decision.

I checked on their website - it is same model that is on Samsung's website which only offer one version. I compared his email. The specs were the same and box contents were the same so it should be same version, only difference I saw was one states it has a 1-year in-home warranty and the other a supposed "limited warranty" in warranty information. On their website there was no mention of a "limited warranty" at all.

I contacted Samsung and they insisted they only have one version of the TV. Searching online did not turn up any "residential" or "commercial" version of Samsung TVs - just one model. I called him back and also mentioned the bad reputation and scam tactics I read about their business, he got defensive and said he will ship out the TV I ordered. I asked to speak to a supervisor, he refused and just said he will ship the TV I ordered and hung up. Never answered my question of why there was even an 8-day delay in shipping out my order.

I think I feel sorry for the people who work for this outfit. It must be awful having to disappoint customer after customer with the same stories. Unless they're all in cahoots together. Anyway, I ordered the 55" Samsung Smart 3D TV for $1049, with free mount and free shipping. I also ordered a Samsung soundbar/subwoofer combo to go with it. My order was placed online during Thanksgiving weekend. I quickly received confirmation emails with order tracking information. The links led me to individual pages that listed my items properly and said the orders were "in process."

A couple of weeks later, the order crossed my mind and I checked the tracking info again. It still said "in process." I convinced myself to be patient - that these were probably very popular items due to their low price. Finally thought about it again on Christmas week. Still "in process." So I decided I'd better call customer service. First off, they only take calls four and a half days per week (and not on weekends). So I called on Friday 12/26. I waited on hold a good long while but finally got through to a woman who took my order numbers and told me I would need to speak with Teddy about the TV. I asked her to check on the soundbar; she told me that order had been canceled. Canceled? I didn't cancel it. She didn't have an explanation for that. Realize that the only two emails I got from the company were the original order confirmations, so if I had not called I would not have known about this item being canceled.

She transferred me to Teddy, and he picked up quickly. I got the spiel that this was an international model and somehow inferior to the US model, but that he would be willing to "upgrade me" at the same level of discount as the TV I ordered, for only another $200. I was incredulous. I asked him to repeat himself several times because I was so incredulous. Once you get my ire up, it rises quickly. I told myself "to hell with this," and said I wanted this order canceled as well. This was followed by his apologies and heartfelt pleas that he was only trying to help me. This went on through about 3 iterations where I told him he could help me best by canceling this order and sending me an email confirmation of the cancellation. He said he would do this, apologized a few more times, and then the call ended.

I never got an email confirming cancellation, and ultimately posted a message on their web site using their email form, to which I got an auto reply email containing my message. So I do have some evidence that I canceled. Fortunately my card has not been charged, and I hope they won't try. Since then, I ordered similar items from Amazon, which I got in a few days at the price that was advertised. I have saved this review and will consider sharing it with the BBB and the Maryland Attorney General's Consumer Protection division. This event with Abe's of Maine pales compared to the time I was ripped off on the purchase of a loved one's grave marker, but it wins on the scale of shameless audacity.

TV hasn't arrived, confirmation of order hasn't arrived, claimed server crashed, too many orders, order was lost yet someone called last week, but did not leave a return phone number, said it will be a couple more weeks. Needless to say, Christmas has come and gone and have been without a TV for 5 weeks with at least two more in sight. Made one call and was cut off. Second call, I was on hold for 25 minutes or so, spoke with a service tech, then he put me on hold, in all, this one telephone call is over 70 minutes already. Out of stock, must call back next week to see when and if it will be shipped. I'm hoping that when I call, I will be satisfied with the results and can recant this complaint.

This company seems to be a scamming, bait-and switch operation. They advertise low prices and when we place the order, they'll call you and want to switch to a higher priced item. I ordered a Canon t5i with 18-135mm STM and 55-250mm STM lenses from AbesOfMaine.com, since they had the lowest price I could find. All the Canon supplied accessories are supposed to be in the package - 'brand new factory fresh'. Free shipping (5-6 business days) as well as a 2% discount with code SAVE2 at checkout. The order was placed on Order Date: 2014-12-18 23:10:13. And the total is USD801.64. On Dec 19, a customer service person called me and said I should buy another package as the one I ordered is not for US, the battery won't last, etc. etc. Basically he was trying to persuade me to buy another package that costs more. Basic 'bait and switch'. I declined the offer. According the website when I placed the order, I was supposed to get a tracking #. All I received was an order confirmation and invoice/bill.

I have not received any item tracking# or the item, till Dec 27. I contacted them through their customer service contact on their website as well as sent an email inquiring about the status of my order. On Dec 28, I received an email 'Thank you for your order', a new order created and a sum of $818.00 charged to my credit card without my authorization. As of Dec 30, despite multiple emails to ask about the status of my original order as well as the new order and unauthorized charge to my CC, I have NOT received any kind of response from them.

I contacted Abe's of Main after finding the lowest price for a Sony XBR70X850B TV. Upon speaking with Joe, he confirmed that the TVs they are selling are new and not refurbished. He also confirmed the price and requested that I place my order online. I waited for a week before placing my order so that I check other deals via Amazon, Best Buy after Christmas sales etc. called him once again and confirmed pricing and availability. Once again, he assured me of the model details and pricing. I placed my order on Sunday December 28th, received a call from Joe on Monday the 29th with the excuse that he wanted to confirm the order. But then he started his ** (excuse my English) that the model I placed an order for is a commercial model and that the LCD display is outsourced (blah blah) and the firmware is not upgradable (blah blah) and that the warranty is only 30 days (blah blah).

Well, I am an executive in major technology driven electronics manufacturing companies. He had me at "Sir, did you know that" at that moment I knew he was going to ** me about something. I thought maybe he will ask for some freight charge but instead, he really believed his own **. He was asking me to pay $600 more to get the TV, which is now at Amazon prices. Told him to take a hike, shove his TV where the sun does not shine and where it stinks. Called my bank, cancelled the card and did not waste my time. Stay away from these crooks.

Placed the order and 3 days later I get a call and the guy tells me there are two versions of this TV and they have both the good version and the bad version.. Because samsung made some of them with a substitute panel made by AUO or sharp.. and it doesn't look as good as the nice version.. and if I want the nice version I have to pay 3300 instead of the 2600 they allowed me to order online for. What the guy doesn't know is I own a electronics distributor that sells these panels, and I know that he is lying.. I call him out and tell him to cancel the order and that I would be plastering the internet with what they did.. which i am currently in the process of doing.. He backs off says he will talk to his boss about honoring the price on the GOOD version of the TV.. and call me back.. I told him to cancel and ran for my life.. Stay away from this company.. DO NOT BUY FROM ABE'S OF MAINE AKA WESTPARK ELECTRONICS LLC FROM BROOKLYN!!!!! On December 11th 2014, I purchased an import model Nikon D610 DSLR camera from Abe's online for $1,149.00 plus shipping and handling. This was several hundred dollars less than both B&H and Best Buy's price and I was going against my best judgement but I was on a very limited budget and that was the most camera that I could afford.

Anyway, the next day, "Stan" called me from Abe's and informed me that my order had been flagged because the import model that he was "just about to send me" had a Korean language menu that was not able to be changed. I asked if a firmware update could correct the issue and he said no, it would not. He conveniently offered me a USA model for $1,450 and when I started to back out of his offer he quickly put me on hold and came back shortly after with a new offer, $1,399 for a brand new USA model, his final offer! I agreed but insisted on a brand new, unopened camera, he agreed and the deal was done.

When the camera arrived it was obvious that the camera was an open box item. All of the accessory items plastic packages had been opened and were very obviously repackaged. The camera looked in mint condition and worked fine so I did a couple photo shoots with it and it gave me no issues so I just chalked it up to a bad learning experience and just went with it in order to avoid the high restocking fees and the inevitable red tape with my credit card refund.

Well, today I finally got around to registering the warranty at www.USAwarrantyinc.com and when I punched in the information from my enclosed warranty card along with my cameras serial number, the error message that I got back said, "Warranty #" appears to have already been used." Seriously? Please do not buy from Abe's! Avoid the deception, high pressure sales calls and all the future hassles.

On December 18, 2014, I placed an online order with Abe's of Maine, for a 65" Samsung TV SKU #: SSUN65H7150 | Part #: UN65H7150AFXZA. At the time the price was $1549.00 with free shipping and a free wall mount valued at $100. I filled out all of the information and received a confirmation number immediately. The day after I placed my order, I received an email thanking me for my order and stating that I needed to call "Joe **" at 1.800.992.2237 EXT **. I immediately sent an email back, asking why I needed to call them, and was there a problem with my order. I received an email back immediately, with just a phone number... No answer as to why I needed to call them. I then sent another email, stating that I got the phone number with the first email and again, why did I need to call them. I heard nothing back. I waited a few days and checked the status of my order and my credit card statement and it showed that nothing had been processed.

I decided to call "Joe" back and was informed that he was just wanting to make sure I was really wanting to order the "Commercial" version of this TV, rather than the "Residential" version. He stated that the "Commercial" version of the TV would not work properly and the smart apps would not work and the firmware would not be able to be updated.... But he would be happy to help me order the right TV and would gladly upgrade me to "white glove" delivery for the inconvenience of having to pay hundreds of dollars more. I was really wanting to get the TV for my husband for Christmas, and he seemed to know what he was talking about, Even though it seemed a little off, I went ahead with the transaction.

I explained what happened, to my husband and he immediately called Samsung and spoke to their commercial department who verified everything that I was told by Joe ** (probably an alias) was an outright lie and that Samsung does not even manufacture a commercial TV bigger than 55" and it is over $5000.00! Bottom line is Abe's of Maine is in the business a big time bait and switch con game and I plan to notify the BBB as well as the Attorney General about what they are doing to consumers. Thank goodness, I used my Discover card for this purchase, as they are stopping the payment and reversing the charges.

BAIT AND SWITCH! I am outraged at the bait and switch tactics of this unscrupulous company. Their conduct goes beyond bad business and should be the subject of a criminal investigation. I see now that what they did to me is commonplace for them. As you have probably heard before, wish I read the reviews first. I have never seen so many consistently bad reviews for any company anywhere.

Here is what Abe's of Maine did to me. On December 13, I ordered a Sharp 90" TV from them because that had the best price advertised on the Internet for the TV. They never shipped the TV. The status of the order on their site still shows as "order received." When I called today to see what is happening, their employee told me the price $2,649.00 was a typo, refused to honor my order, and told me that I could buy the same TV from them for $6,000.00! This is completely unacceptable.

I asked them to honor and ship my order. They refused. Contrary to the false claim of their employee, they never sent me an email canceling my order. The first time that I got the "price is a typo story" is when I called their company after their 14 day delay in doing anything with my order. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THEIR ADVERTISED PRICES! Do not do business with this company!

Had checked prices on Canon macro lens at a number of sites on Internet and Abe’s of Maine had the lens cheaper than any one with an instant rebate. Was informed by salesman this lens was the non-US version with different glass and coatings on glass and he recommended the US version. So naturally it didn't have the instant rebate but the price was the same as everyone else so I purchased it. Upon checking with Canon I was told all lens by canon are the same no matter where they were made. So what salesman told about lens was not true. I still do not know if I have US or international version of lens. But the story doesn't stop here. Canon has a rebate of $50 on this lens but of the thousands of dealers that participate in the rebate program Abe’s of Maine does not. After having bought from Abe’s before I am very disappointed as this lens wound up costing more than any place I checked.

I'll never buy any thing again from "Abe's of Maine" and strongly suggest to stay away from such bad seller, very bad and disappointing customer experience. I ordered Nikon D7100 Camera, which was showing as $949. Next day I got a call from seller saying the one which you ordered is an import quality and won't have Nikon Warranty. If you want a US model and warranty I need to pay $1199, and I got convinced (stupid me). I authorized them to charge $1199, and they said you will get it in two days.

After 6 days of delay when I called customer line, I was not able to reach anyone on their service line (which sucks, reaching them is altogether a different story of pain). After 3 hours of try, I reached the person who sold me the camera and he hung up on me :(. I reached him again and had a frustrated argument. He said his supervisor will call me, which never happened. I called his supervisor (as seller give me his number) and he was more rude than the guy who sold camera.

I got my camera after 10 days of placing order. When I opened box I was surprised, the camera was from a different kit and and in invoice Camera model was written as 'Nikon 7100G', which means it was a gray market product. It got confirmed when I returned the item and return invoice says item Value was $949, though in paypal account I got full amount $1199. Worst ever experience and worst ever customer service! Strongly suggest to stay away from such online sellers!!!

I ordered a Nikon D810 from Abe's Of Maine because they were approximately $200 less than other vendors. The reviews I read had no negatives and there were vendors lower so I did not think I was dealing with a scam artist. After placing the order I received a call from a rep (JOE extension **) who stated "I was getting the IMPORT" version of the camera. This meant next to nothing to me although I thought he was about to say it was being shipped from Japan and there would be an extended delivery. Instead JOE stated that the camera had a "plastic" body vs. the magnesium that Nikon uses for this item AND he stated that the shutter was "GLASS". As a professional photographer and online shopper I read "everything" about the items I purchase as well as the companies I buy from. In reviewing the description provided on their site about this item NOTHING is listed about shutter or body **. After rejecting the item I was told that I could get the version that has the NORMAL body FOR MORE $$$ than I can pay at a great many other places. While I have contacted my bank to ensure the funds were not released, I never received any confirmation of the cancellation.

After a positive interaction with Abe's of Maine, Adrian increased their star rating on Dec. 30, 2014.

    Updated review: Dec. 30, 2014

UPDATE: Within about an hour of writing my original negative review I got a call from Frank at Abe's. I told him briefly the story of my order and he said he would make it right with me. He said he'd honor the $1600 price and give me free expedited shipping. He also made it clear that this was the International (grey market) version.

But that it would have the correct manual, menu system, battery charger, etc. That sounds good to me. I felt good enough to spring for the 3-year warranty for $200. He said Morris had gone too far and would get a "geography lesson". So, assuming this goes without a hitch, I expect to be very satisfied. I'll change the rating to 5 when it comes. So thank you to Frank. I'll delete the "bait and switch" story because it's no longer relevant.

    Original Review: Dec. 15, 2014

I had read reviews that warned me of Bait and Switch tactics at Abe’s of Maine. I ordered a Nikon D750 online, but added "Please Cancel order if it cannot be delivered promptly" in the instructions. I hoped this would prevent me getting a call from Morris or his colleagues. I was determined not to succumb to Bait and Switch. It didn't work. Morris called me today, to say that this camera was the International version, not the US version.

The conversation went like this: Morris said, “Are you going to use the camera outside the USA?” I said, “Yes, I'm going to Australia for a year.” Morris said, “Well this version is for Japan or Singapore and only has a manual in Japanese. I recommend the US version for $1999 ($400 more than the advertised price).” I said, “OK, I'll download the manual.” Morris said, “No you don't understand. The camera menus only work in Japanese.” I said, “Every Nikon camera I have used before has given the choice of several languages.” Morris said, “This one is different. It only offers Japanese!” I said, “That doesn't sound right.” Morris said, “Well, if you change the language, you can never change it again.” (Why would that be a problem? Maybe I would forget my English? A bit of a slip-up for Morris).

"Our price is an excellent deal, B+H and every other store sells the US version for $2299." The only thing he said that was NOT a lie. But the part about $1999 is almost certainly a lie, because I am pretty sure they are selling the Import (grey market) version for $1999. Nikon would not allow them to sell both Import and Official US versions. The vendor would have to choose to be an official US vendor or Not. Like B+H or Adorama. So I told him, “In that case please cancel my order.”

I wonder what the next lie would have been if I had said I was fluent in Japanese. Something about the warranty, probably. Morris said, "We offer both US and International because most of our orders come from Japan or Singapore (Another unbelievable statement)." He said, “I only have 2 D750's left at $1999.” Oh... Just one now! Even more unbelievable! I said, “Please cancel my order.” I wondered how willing he was to lose the sale. I started to wonder if I would have to contact my credit card provider to make sure it was truly cancelled.

He seemed OK with cancelling the order! This probably means they are making little to no profit at $1600. I said, “I'd better make sure the order is really cancelled.” So I tried to log in to their website again to check. At this point I got the only positive part of this sales experience. I got an email from Morris confirming the cancellation. I will not delete it. So don't expect to be able to buy this camera for the advertised price. Bait and switch used to be illegal. I wonder why it isn't any more. Or isn't enforced. Anyway, stay away. Nothing but trouble.

One day after the order, I got a call from the sales rep who explained to me that it was an import model with no instructions and LCD is in Asian language. I said I am okay with it. I again confirmed that it does come with battery/charger/strap. He said "yeah, all that is in the package." I said "please just go ahead and ship it."

In my order - it is mentioned "Shipping Method: 5 - 6 Business Days". The sales rep said 8-10 days. When I ordered, the item was in available status. I don't know why the delay. Sales rep said "You understand that the LCD and everything is in Foreign language right?" I said yes... LCD in foreign language? - We can always change back to English. No big deal. It's been 3 days from the day I ordered. Still not shipped. Waiting... 2 stars are based on above two points. Will update the review and rating once I get it. Hope I don't get an open box.

I had to take the time to write this review because I like to help others, I truly do. I read a ton of reviews about this company and called to see if they actually had the TV I was interested in, available or in stock. First off, they do not have a retail store. I asked if they had the TV in the warehouse. "Stan," told me they did not. I then inquired if I ordered the model, if I would receive a follow up call as other posters mentioned about a "residential vs. commercial model". Stan told me the TV (which was $2,000 below list price), was indeed a "commercial model". I then advised Stan that I was an attorney, he asked, "What does that mean?" I told him that means that if he lies to me and defrauds me, I would contact the authorities. Then he told me I would need to speak with customer service, which of course was an answering machine that proceeded to hang up on me. If you have been defrauded by this company I suggest you contact the police.

Somehow I was able to cancel my Paypal payment. Be careful dealing with fake business. It had cheaper prices, but there were other online stores like that. So it did not stand out as a fake!

Directed me to their website and told me to put in the model number with some extra letters after it and poof the TV I really wanted appears for $3,999.99. Hello Morris - I finally understand the tactic that your company employs to swindle customers. It's the old bait and switch tactic! And as you'll see in the attached link, there are lots of others that have been conned or attempted to be conned by you and others in your organization. You're even mentioned by name in more than one of the comments. The reality is after looking into my issue further there is only one panel that Samsung uses for my particular TV. It's the AH01 made by AU Optronics. Then again, I'm sure you're already aware of this! The price I had originally paid ($1165) was only a teaser price to get me to bite, then you come in later with the hard upgrade sell, for a TV panel that doesn't really exist! So, in short, you conned me into buying a TV that was only worth $1165 for $1500, or overspending some $300+! Nice job! I saw your return policy or lack there of, not surprised. I suppose I should feel fortunate that I received a TV at all and wasn't swindled altogether!

Oh BTW - I tried sending an email to your "problems" email account but guess what? It bounced back. Apparently, that email doesn't really exist either! I will also be posting feedback to the consumer affairs website, as well as the Better Business Bureau and basically every reference on your website stating positive things about your company! It won't get my $300+ dollars back, but it will make me feel better for being duped into buying into your bait and switch policy. Thanks for being such a nice and pleasant shyster... Your efforts won't go unrewarded! Happy reading... https://www.consumeraffairs.com/homeowners/abes-of-maine.html

The next day, I got a phone call from Roy, one of their sales people. Roy informed me that some of the internal components of this TV are "outsourced" and not real Samsung components, and that if I wanted the "better version" that I needed to buy another version of the same model, and he gave me another model # to look up - SKU #: SSUN65H6350U Part #: UN65H6350AFXZA-samsung, which had the exact same specs but was hundreds of dollars more. It seemed really fishy, did a lot of research other than look up reviews, called Samsung, spoke to the tv specialist dept and they said no such things and I ended up canceling the order.

I think the rating system should have 11 stars in total, -5 to 5, precisely for resellers like Abe's of Maine. I would rate them -5 in all categories. For people who have no time to read this: STAY AWAY FROM ABE'S OF MAINE. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. My Story: I had placed an order on Abe's of Maine website for a Samsung 55 UHD TV (comes with a free wall mount) during the Thanksgiving sale. They had the lowest price compared to any other resellers on the internet. Checked ResellerRatings and it showed an 8.5/10 score. Hence did not think twice to order from them. My mistake was not to read the recent reviews from other customers.

A couple of days later, I get a call from an Abe's of Maine representative (**) and the guy says that the TV which I had ordered comes with an AU Panel which is inferior to the actual Samsung Panel (TH01) and only has a 90-Day warranty as against a 1 Year warranty from Samsung. He also said that he can ship me the better model for an extra $300. He also offered me a better Wall Mount and Rush shipping for free. I asked him why don't they list the so called better TV on their website. For which he replied they actually do and asked me to search for a keyword. It instantly brought up the better model with a huge price tag. Almost twice the price of what he is offering me. Also searched for the better wall mount that he had offered me as a freebie and it was priced heavily too.

I asked him to help me browse to the better product page rather than searching for it. This is what ticked him off and he said they don't allow customers to browse to this product because they have limited quantities. I immediately sensed a change in his tone. He asked me if I want the better product or cancel the order. Strangely he did not give me an option to go ahead with my original order. He also said that I'm wasting his and my time by asking silly questions. I told him I'd rather pay a high price to a honest reseller than pay a low price for a crook. In the end I had cancelled the order.

The Abe's of Maine 3-Step Ploy:
Step 1: List the product with the lowest price during the sale. This will allow them to dupe as many customers as possible to place orders.
Step 2: After the sale has ended on all other websites, make calls to these customers about the inferior product that they have ordered and hustle them to buy the better version.

Step 3: Make the poor customers pay more for the same product.

I feel very cheated by Abe's of Maine and will never buy from them ever again. I will make sure I share my opinion with my friends and family and also in whatever forums I can to save other consumers from the agony of Abe's of Maine. Hope this helps!

I did not notice that the description said "import model". A few hours after placing the order, got call from Roy ** at Abe’s of Maine. He explained that import model has no warranty and is inferior in other ways and offered to upgrade to the "retail model". I was expecting this after other reviews on this site, so I told him to cancel my order. He then offered the retail model at discounted of price of $339.

When I again asked to cancel, he asked why and I told him they're clearly running a bait and switch operation. He then offered a discounted price of $289. When I again told him I wanted to cancel, he went away briefly "to talk to his manager" and came back and offered the retail model at the same price as the import model (probably worried that I would write online review like this one). I refused again and he gave me the cancelation confirmation number. I'll watch my charge card closely. In nearly 20 years of placing a lot of online orders, this is the first really bad experience I've had. Don't do business with these shysters.

I found a few vendors with low prices, though read the reviews and saw a large amount of complaints for most. Abe's of Maine (actually located in NJ) seemed to be a reputable shop, especially given the credentials listed at the top of their web site (CNET Certified Store & 5 stars on PriceGrabber). I ordered the TV on a Saturday for $1,639 (**), received the order confirmation email and then a call on Sunday; this is where things got shady.

They were calling to make me aware that I had ordered the Commercial version of the TV and was explained that it had an inferior board that was not produced by Samsung, that the firmware was not upgradeable, that it was used mostly as a monitor and a host of other things. I (the sucker) appreciated the heads up, as is the design of this scam, and was told to search for the Retail version of this TV by adding the letter U to the end of their SKU # (SSUN65H7150). This brings up a page (**) with the identical TV, with no discernible differences in functionality, though with a price that was over $600 more expensive ($2,299). I asked that the order be cancelled and that I receive an email confirmation; after some "let me talk to my boss to see what we can do to make the price better and keep me as a customer", I was told that order was cancelled. I have yet to receive an email confirming this.

In doing some research with other merchants, and calling Samsung directly, I have identified that their story was completely false. There is no Commercial vs. Retail version of this TV. I was actually surprised when I began telling the representative at Samsung about what happened with Abe's of Maine, she completed the story for me as apparently this is a scam they pull all the time. It is believed they are getting TVs from overseas that are not made by Samsung, or have inferior parts inside, and selling them as the real thing at a discount. Samsung will not honor warranties for these TVs. In short, Abe's of Maine is a bait and switch shop that is likely running other scams; you should avoid doing business with them at all costs and work with a reputable merchant.

Next business day I get a call from a rep telling me a story about the camera being only with Japanese instructions etc. Nowhere in the description did it mention I was buying a camera not suitable for the US. If I want the "retail version" they could give it to me for about $200 extra. I cancelled the order on principle.

It seems like bait and switch shop. I ordered a Nikon camera finding a good price for it on Abe’s of Maine. 2 days after placing the order I got a call from their Sales agent telling it’s an imported model which doesn't have warranty and low battery life and US model is about $250 more. Nowhere on their site it mentioned clearly that it’s an import model. I even have screenshot of it. They lured me with a good price and then tried to bait and switch.

I found it usual but thought that I made a mistake in ordering. So when I need more accessories for the camera, I went back to them. Boy I learnt my lesson about these guys this time. I changed mind after I placed order and immediately call to cancel it. They refused to cancel it, using means excuses unthinkable to any outfits I have ever dealt with. I was told that customer service was closed, or I called wrong number, and finally the products have been shipped out. But USPS website said very clearly that the products did not arrive USPS until a day later. The staff are so rude. I decided that I will file a complaint to consumer protection agency of NJ.

I ordered a Samsung smart TV on their website model UN75H6350AFXZA. Received a call the following day (or two) day from them asking me to pay more for the following... They said the free wall mount bracket was "not very good" and stuck out a lot so they wanted to sell me a different one. They said after crediting the "free bracket (e.g. $100)" I would have to pay another $150.00 for a better "slim" bracket. I fell for this. But they just moved on with the hard sell. Note - after later research - it is amazing as a top of the line slim flush mount from Sanus (model SANUS LL11 which is 1/2 the depth at just .55" / 1.4 cm from the wall) is only $74 total + TBD shipping. And I could buy the item they were offering at Walmart for 1/2 the cost.

I was asked if I really wanted the "commercial" model with just a 90 day warranty and that I should buy an additional warranty (for $300 or so). He explained the commercial model comes just 90 days warranty while the normal residential model has a 1 year and costs $300 more. I smelled "scam" so I had a chat session with a Samsung sales person and guess what? There IS NO such thing as a commercial model for a UN75H6350AFXZA. And all new Samsung TVs come with a 1 year warranty. So this was a complete shady car dealership up sell attempt. I said NO and started to realize the "scam" unfolding.

I was told that the free shipping was no good and I should upgrade it to white glove ($250.00 more) - I said NO. Then I was told the item would be damaged with their so called free shipping and it would be my fault - (how does that work?) and I should at least get UPS ground ($150.00 more) - I said NO. They insisted that the free shipping would probably damage the TV and I should buy insurance - look I am of the belief if a vendor ships a product it's the vendors issue if there is damage - not the consumer receiving it - at this time I just said - NO NO this is out of my budget. I asked several times to cancel my order, and was constantly told, "let me check with a manager". I was in the middle of a client meeting and asked to have a call back - there was no such return call.

He explained the commercial model comes with no firmware, smart TV, etc. Of course the residential model costs $300 more (the same price as everyone else). What a scam. When I asked him how I was supposed to tell that this was a commercial unit on the website description he said that it was because the model number had a U to start it. I rechecked their website and nowhere does it indicate anything about a commercial model and lists as the features smart TV, etc. He was not aware that I have recently bought five other Samsung TVs of similar models and I am quite aware that many of their model numbers start with a U. This has nothing to do with commercial or not. Do NOT do business with them. I thought they were reputable and comparable to BH Photo. They most certainly are not.

We have been waiting for this particular TV to come down in price so when it came up in a Google search that Abe's of Maine had it for $ 2199.00, we purchased the TV from their website with a $15.00 discount and free shipping. Then it came, the phone call for the bait and switch. Morris called to tell us he was confused by the order. Did we want the commercial model or the retail model? He went on about the differences, one with only a 90-day warranty and no 3D glasses and the other with a one-year warranty and 4 pairs of 3D glasses. We asked what the price difference was for the "retail" model and of course it was $500 more than the one I purchased. It does not explain on the website that the model I purchased is a commercial model. Morris went on and on about how you have to read the description to see what is included with the TV. I see that this is not the first complaint about Abe's of Maine's con game.

We have done business with Abe's of Maine in the past and have found them to be reputable but I understand they were bought out by another company and their new business practices are extremely deceptive. We did purchase the TV from another company and because of the appalling experience we had with Abe's of Maine, we were cautious. I was also given an upgraded wall mount, 2 HDMI cables, and they split the cost of the freight with me. It was the correct model, with 4 pairs of 3D glasses, and the one year manufacturer's warranty. With the money I saved, I bought an extended warranty from SquareTrade to total 6 years of warranty. Even with buying that, I'm way ahead. Also, the TV arrived 3 days earlier than promised.

I had purchased an LCD TV online from Abes of Maine AKA Westpark electronics LLC. The next morning I saw that this same TV was being sold at a competitor site for a much cheaper price. Wanting to keep my business with Abes of Maine I called their customer service. After waiting to talk to a rep for almost half an hour I finally got connected to one, who just transferred me to another rep. Finally when I spoke with someone I was told that the price I paid was the lowest they are willing to go and that if I wanted the lower price I could buy from the other competitor. To me this was a bit of a surprise that I was essentially being told to take my business elsewhere. I was also told that the price I paid was NOT the final price and that I was gong to be charged another $200 for "Insurance" on the "free shipping" which was advertised. The person then went on to say any TV over 60 inches must have insurance and claimed that it was on their website. I had my laptop open right in front of me and saw that the TV description stated that additional insurance charges "MAY be applied".

That did not concern me at the time of checkout because that $200 was not mentioned ANYWHERE on the invoice or final payment I sent via PayPal. Needless to say I asked that my order be cancelled. The rep said he will cancel it. So furious at the turn of events I forgot to ask for the cancellation number thinking that like any normal business I would receive an email immediately.

I called customer service and asked them to verify if my order had been cancelled. The guy I spoke to was very harsh and said "yeah your order has been cancelled". I asked for the cancellation number which he eventually ended up providing me with. I then asked when this would be reflected on the website, he stated that it will not and that I do not need to call back again. I was surprised that he said that, working in customer service you never tell a customer to NEVER call back again. I then told him that I do not see this anywhere that it has been cancelled, and asked how long before they will release my money. He then proceeded to get hostile with me. When I asked him what his name was he then proceeded to say your order has been cancelled and that you don't need to call back again and hung up.

A week later, after Abes of Maine had not released my money. I called PayPal and informed them of the situation and provided them with a cancellation number. The PayPal representative was very understanding, and kind (how customer service is supposed to be) and asked me to hold while she called Abes of Maine to get confirmation of why they had not released my money. After about half an hour of waiting she finally returned and said "they hung up on me". She later proceeded to put in a request to have my money refunded. It took ONE MONTH for me to get my money back. Thank God I paid with PayPal. I fear for anyone that decides to pay via credit card and have to go though the credit card companies for this hassle. Upon doing some research of Westpark electronics LLC; I found that they have filed for bankruptcy and moved to a different state to continue doing business. Worst experience ever! Beware of these scam artists!

I have bought from many cheap volume online dealers before but I got slack in my homework this time. So like everyone on this site, I got the email to call them and then the story that I have ordered a non-us version. Well I said, I am not going to be in the US so US warranty is useless to me and I am buying a Nikon - so that it is good quality and not need to go back to the supplier. I was not wise (actually stupid) re the bait and switch strategy of this firm. So I was told the 'international model' was 'inferior quality' and that I should buy the US model. On reflection I should have walked away then and gone elsewhere as would have been the same price. I was then up sold on a battery and filters - I wanted both but again could have got a better price somewhere else.

I did get what I wanted in good condition but not a stunning price. But I hate being duped and this is what these guys do. Dishonesty deserves no further business - no need to be dishonest. Customers just want service and competitive prices. The international model scheme and online pricing is all about getting you in. I do worry about having made payments to such places too. First of all, if it were possible to give zero stars, I would do that. Here is my experience: I did a Google shopping search on June 11, 2014 for a Canon 6D camera. The search listed Abe's of Maine as having the lowest price-substantially lower ($1364 vs 1699) than all other shops. I went to the website and placed the order online. Within minutes I had misgivings because I didn't receive an email confirmation of my order. The next day, after still having received no email confirmation, I logged on to my Abe's account to check the status. It was stated as "in process." I heard nothing until Sunday, June 15, 2014. David, from Abe's, left me a voicemail asking me to call him regarding my order. I tried to reach him several times, but the calls went to voicemail.

On Monday, June 16th, 2014, I called at 7:02 am (AZ) and he answered. He first said that he had to verify my address. Then, he said, "Oh, I remember why I called!" He went on to inform me that I had ordered the import model and wondered if I had done that accidentally. I said that when I did a search for that camera, that is what came up on Abe's website. He then said that they do have the U.S. model available for $1699 and that if I compare prices with other stores I will see that that is what this model costs. I told him that I was not prepared to spend the extra money at this point in time and would like to cancel my order. He was agreeable to that, but offered to sell me the camera for $1649 plus free expedited shipping. I declined. I then asked if I would get an email confirmation of this cancellation and he said that he would send one to my email, which I asked him to verify.

I told him that I am at my computer as we were speaking and asked him to send the email. He said that it would take 20 minutes for the cancellation process. Since then, I have sent two emails requesting the confirmation. I haven't received any communication from them and my order is still showing "in process." I copied these emails to my lawyer and also went to my bank and took steps to make sure that they could not charge my account. I only wish that I had read the reviews before ordering. I normally do that, but was in a hurry that day and let it go. I did read the reviews before speaking with David, so I was aware of what might occur. And, as with many other reviewers, the bait and switch did occur. There was no way that I was going to spend money at this store under these circumstances.

Update May 14th. Still nothing from Abe's of Maine. Unreal. You just take my $2,500 and do nothing. I have to wait for the paypal days, because Abe's of Maine has not responded to Paypal. I ordered another TV from a real Company. This has been my worse online experience. Thank God I used Paypal. Do not use this Company. They were able to borrow $2,500 interest free for over 20 days. Terrible service, rude, deceptive. I ordered a Nikon DSLR from the website. No email confirmation. Day later, a guy calls and says I should expect all these problems because I ordered an import. Aren't all Nikons imports? He gives me the hard sale saying what I ordered won't have a battery, software, manuals, warranty, etc. For another $300, my new Nikon will come with all the normal accessories. Guy gets rude and pushy when I refuse to engage in his bait & switch. He suggests my order will take two to three weeks to arrive. Someone ought to sue Abe's of Maine for false advertising! They're liars, operating from New Jersey, not Maine.

Oy. Where do I even start? I found Abe's of Maine via a web search when shopping for a Canon T3i camera. I'd never heard of them before, but the website looked legit and they had the best prices. I placed the order right away using my PayPal account. I should have researched the company before ordering but I didn't, which was a big mistake. Right after placing my order, I Googled Abe's of Maine out of curiosity and came across a couple of reviews that mentioned their notorious follow-up call and aggressive up-sell tactics. I didn't read further, but I prepared myself to have some hiccups with my order going through.

The next day, I got a call from David telling me I had ordered the import model. My first thought was "Aren't all Canons imported?" He said if I wanted my camera to be compatible with US chargers, I needed to upgrade to the more expensive camera. He mentioned something about needing an adapter for the import model, but the crazy thing was he also said the "European" cameras have "pounds" displayed in video mode. As in the currency? That one still baffles me. Oh, and the lens I also ordered was an import model and incompatible. Okay...

I actually told him I'd been expecting his call since I'd read about these calls in some reviews. That seemed to set David off and he got argumentative, asking if I'd read those reviews why order the "import model" anyway? I said I never saw anything saying these were European-only cameras. He said it's clearly listed in the description (the only thing listed is "brand new factory fresh import model." There's nothing in any description saying chargers won't work in the US, or British currency is displayed in video mode... Lies, lies, lies. I kept asking him to cancel my order, mainly because he was being a jerk (and I've since read in reviews that David is supposedly the company's VP - so that should tell you a lot), but he kept offering me deals. He acted like he was losing money on these deals but he was doing it because he didn't want to lose me as a customer. They'd earn more loyal customers if they'd quit bullying them and write honest product descriptions.

So I finally told him okay, I'd take the deal. He tried to throw in even more extras. I asked him how much the total would be, and he quoted a price that wasn't too much over what I'd paid online. I agreed and we hung up. When I got home and checked my PayPal account, I found that he had authorized a charge that was over our agreed upon price. It was only then I researched Abe's of Maine reviews and read everything I could about this company, and I was appalled! Not only had they charged me more than we had agreed upon, but other customers had encountered issues like never having received their items, receiving the wrong items, or even suspecting that Abe's is touting knock-offs. After reading all this, and battling with this jerk over the phone, I didn't want them to have my business at all. Abe's was already closed for the day, but I contacted them via their website demanding they cancel my order first thing the next day and give me a refund.

By the next afternoon, my message had gone ignored and they'd updated my Abe's account to say that my items had been sent from the warehouse. I called the customer service number and David's extension several times and could never get through, so I immediately called PayPal and filed a dispute. They handled it from there. I sent another email to Abe's informing them of my dispute, and I said if they stopped the shipment of my order (because they collect restocking fees if you refuse a shipment - which they can't do according to the PayPal representative) AND refunded my money right away, I wouldn't leave negative reviews all over the web, contact the BBB, or file a complaint with the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs.

It wasn't long after sending my email that a much more pleasant man from Abe's named Frank left me a voicemail message saying he had personally pulled my items off the UPS truck (seriously?) and that he was sending my account to their "refund department." The order cancellation was soon updated in my Abe's of Maine account, but I didn't receive my refund for a week (6 days, to be exact). I stipulated I would go peacefully if my refund was prompt, but it wasn't, so that's why you're reading this review. I honestly don't know what I would have done if I hadn't have paid with PayPal - they took care of everything. These people are sharks. Abe's of Maine is an aggressive bait-and-switch operation, so stay away! You won't save any money by the time they call you with the up-sell, and you can avoid a hell of a lot of hassle by making your purchase elsewhere.

Abe's of Maine Buyers Beware!!!! I ordered this cooktop on the website also with "free" delivery, just to be called back by a sales person that told me shipping would be extra and that he strongly recommends buying the extended 3-year warranty because the glass on the cooktops could break and they would send a technician out to replace it in home. This was sold to me for $199.99. As it turns out, 18 months later, when we got to the kitchen one morning to make breakfast, the cooktop had a crack in it.

I've been trying to log a warranty claim with AMT Warranty but they first could not find record of my warranty, and asked that I email them the proofs and it would take 3-5 days to process before we could lodge the claim. So more than 4 weeks later, we called them and they simply said the claim was denied. We followed up and go directed to their "Presidential Department" (whatever that is worth) and the lady asked me to send the proofs again as well as photos which they would have their Technical Department evaluate. She then said that our Warranty does *not* include ADH (Accidental Damage from Handling). Yet this was what the Abe's of Maine sales person sold me.

AMT responded back to say their Technician says the crack is from handling and therefore our claim is denied. I now have an useless 18-month-old cooktop that cost me $1638. I emailed Abe's of Maine and they do not respond. I called Bosch and they are investigating. Yes, I am angry, and I would advise all consumers to never ever fall in this trap by the Abe's of Maine slick sales guys!!! On the contrary I bought a MacBook Air through Amazon with Square Trade ADH for $179. The costs are about the same. My wife dropped it a few weeks back and Square Trade approved the claim within minutes and I got my check for the $680 Genius Bar repair reimbursement within 5 days. Wow! That's so awesome!

BUYER BEWARE!!! Purchased a TV from Abe's of Maine. Next day got an email to call them. They said there were extra Freight Charges in the fine print that was not in the final check out amount. For me it amounted to over $100! To get the TV I already paid for, I had to approve the payment of additional charges over the phone and subsequent to check out.

In talking with Abe's representative, it was an obvious condescending, repeated dialogue of how I should have read the fine print by clicking on the hyperlink "View detailed shipping information" where it says in the fine print "For certain large screen LED/LCD, Plasma TVs, Large Appliances, Fitness equipment, SLR cameras, Camcorders and Lenses, a separate insurance charge is mandatory. It will be calculated based on the item value, weight and dimensions. Please call today to discuss your shipping options. We look forward to serving your needs."

I guess my 46" TV was "certain large screen LED/LCD". I'll repeat. They do not give you the extra amount owed until after you have checked out and paid for the item so you cannot know your final cost! That's absurd! This method of doing business is extremely unprofessional and hurts internet sales as you become weary of all small retail internet businesses.

In the evening of March 3rd. I purchased a Samsung UN55F8000 flat screen TV from Abe's of Maine. I provided my address and credit card information. The total cost came to $1609.00, and included a free wall mounting device ($100.00 value) and free shipping.

The following day, Tuesday, March 4th, at 3:07 Eastern time, I received a phone call from "Albie", asking me to confirm the information that I had provided on the order. Once confirmed, Albie began to pressure me to purchase an extended warranty. I declined but he persisted by using fear tactics and stories about the many, many other happy customers that had purchased it and were very glad they did. After I refused one or two more times, Albie gave up and moved on the the delivery information.

He explained how the delivery truck would show up at my home, drag the TV from a pile of other TVs and put it on the street. I would have to sign for it there because that's as far as they would take it. I wouldn't have time to inspect it or even open it in their presence because they would be gone. He said if I found anything wrong it would be a real hassle to get the TV returned and get a replacement. It could takes weeks and weeks.

But Albie said there was the "White Glove" option that would prevent all of that. Two men would make the delivery, carefully remove the TV, which had additional packaging, was strapped down and isolated from the stacked TVs. They would then carefully bring it into my home, remove it from it's packaging and plug it in to be sure it worked. The least little thing wrong and they would take it back and I would get another new one, much quicker. That additional service was about $249.00. When I declined that service, I again had to listen to Albie ratchet up the pressure. Once we did that a few times, each time the pressure getting greater and his tone getting more condescending, he finally gave up and moved on to the final total.

That's when Albie informed me, matter-of-factly, that an insurance charge of $250.00 would be added to the agreed to and advertised price of $1609.00. What? When I questioned that he said TVs that size required insurance because the freight service wouldn't be responsible for the damage. We had a back and forth as I told him nowhere did I see that insurance charge; All I saw on most of their screens was "Free Shipping". When I continued to press him he said he would swap the wall bracket, a $100.00 listed item for some "special" HDMI cables, valued at $29.00 and would remove the cost of the White Glove to $99.00.

Albie also had said that ALL the online electronic/TV stores do the same thing, that I needed to go and see for myself. I told him I didn't care if what he was saying was true or not and I wanted to cancel the order. Our conversation ended with Albie telling me I'd be paying over $1900.00 or more from the big boxes and I probably would be getting a 2013 model, not the 2014 which was much better. He ended with a "hope you come back later" and we disconnected.

I realize that abusive, intimidating language is not a violation of any written law. It is simply rude behavior from someone that has no respect for people, and is working for a organization that requires their staff to pressures customers into buying things they shouldn't have to buy and adding additional charges that are contrary to their advertisement. What is against the law is false advertising and that is exactly what they did.

    1. Warranty at $199 - I had to say NO at least five times.
    2. Better shipping - I said NO twice.
    3. Better quality wall bracket - I said NO at least 3 times.

    4. HDMI cable - I said NO twice.

At this point we had a little conversation about the definition of ward "NO". I was told that the guy that I talked to wants to hear that at least twice - got to tell you he did a good job aching that..... And after all they told me that they have to charge $199 for shipping insurance and there is no other way to process the order. I asked to cancel the order. At this point price started to go down. I did cancel the order anyway and hope that they will not charge anything. That was my experience today.

I said ship it free and I can't afford an extra 400.00 on your so called free shipping.

He stated well it will take 7-14 days for the tv to be delivered and if it's broken I have to refuse the tv right then and there. I said I'll take my chances... He then told me that there was a shipping insurance of 7% of the price of the t.v. I was baffled and outraged. Cables, white glove delivery, a better wall mount, etc. They actually told me the wall mount that comes free may not support my TV size and I should upgrade. Then they said the free shipping only drops it off on the curb, and they will not cover any damage for shipping unless I get white glove shipping at a price. They had an excuse for everything. I finally got them off the phone with no additional purchases. The TV took forever to ship, ended up having to call back looking for it. They tried again to sell me everything just like before.

Finally the delivery guys arrived. They carried the TV into the house and I noticed that the box was damaged in the front by the screen. I told them to take it back, it may be damaged. They said they couldn't do it without calling Abe's again. After about 30 mins on hold, finally someone answered and wanted me to test the TV to see if it was damaged. I recently purchased a washer and dryer from this retailer. The order was placed on a Monday and immediately the credit card was charged. I never received a confirmation number, receipt or tracking number. 5 days later I receive a call from customer service confirming the order which I was okay with except the fact they called me, put me on hold for 5-7 minutes and then have to deal with 30 minutes of sales pitch. I got the sales pitch that I needed to have the "white glove" service with the order otherwise I could be on the hook for goods that might be damaged or the fact they drop the merchandise at the curb. The price was an additional $499.00. I refused and said I will take my chances. I then was told that they could not proceed with my order unless I had some sort of insurance on the order. Again I refused and noted that I will just cancel the order.

Not wanting to lose the sale, they agreed that they would proceed with the sale as long as I sent them an email. Again I asked to cancel the order because I was already 30 minutes into the call and was already regretting this purchase with this vendor. I explained that my father has made several purchases from this vendor and never once had an issue. At that point they wanted all the details about my father's purchases which I declined as his orders have nothing to do with mine. So I caved in but got the white glove service down to $149.00 in which we split it. So I get the promise that I will get a receipt and tracking number plus coupons for future purchases within the hour.

Another week goes by with no tracking number so I email the representative who replies back via email saying their email is down so he cannot give me any updates at this time. I work in the IT industry so if you can receive and send out an email from your company, your Exchange server is not down like this rep claimed. Again several more days go by and no reply back.

At this point I send customer service a notice asking for a receipt and tracking number plus status of the order by end of day otherwise I am canceling the order. All I get later that day is an email showing what they charged my credit card. No tracking number or updated status of my order. So I send customer service a nice letter stating they have failed to hold their end of the bargain as noted in their website about "Satisfaction guaranteed or your money back", "excellent customer service", "tracking number and order status within 2 days after the order is placed", etc.... and that I was notifying American Express that I have canceled this order. It has been another week and not one acknowledgement from Abe's of Maine saying they made mistakes or try to correct the situation so it appears that many of the other reviews about this company are in fact quite true as I have now just experienced it first hand.

I ordered the Cuisinart SS-700 coffeemaker product, knowing it was refurbished but had found success in the past ordering refurbished items. This particular item was still defective when received and I notified Abe's of Maine that I needed a prepaid shipping label to return it. They informed me that they would not send a shipping label and would not reimburse me for shipping a malfunctioning item back to them. Thus, they stated they would not accept and refund my purchase unless I paid for the shipping of it back to them. I had ordered through Amazon. They intervened and sent me a message that led me to believe that they had worked it out with the seller and that as soon as Abe's of Maine received the item, I would get a refund. But they only meant that I would be refunded for the item, but not the shipping.

I went ahead, paid shipping and submitted the receipt for shipping only to find out that I was still out of luck regarding reimbursement on my shipping costs. I had to pay nearly $25.00 to have the item shipped back in order to get the cost of the item refunded. I was livid especially since I ordered through Amazon and Amazon states they encourage all sellers to maintain the same high standard of customer service that Amazon.com provides. Amazon's policy states, if you shipped the item back to Amazon at your own expense and the return is the result of an Amazon error, you will be refunded your shipping costs when we process the return. To prevent having to pay for the return yourself, go to our Online Return Center to receive a prepaid label. Thus, I relied that the seller providing the item I ordered, Abe's of Maine, would adhere to Amazon's high standard of customer service and likewise provide shipping prepaid label or reimburse cost for a defective item to be returned.

I have never encountered an experience with Amazon so dissatisfying! I do not believe that I should have had to pay shipping to return a defective product back to the seller, and am not satisfied that Abe's of Maine nor Amazon honors my right to be reimbursed for shipping the item back! Incidentally, I turned around and went to Lowe's locally and bought the same coffeemaker new. I love the Cuisinart product which has given us nothing but wonderful service and great coffee! What am I to do as a consumer? From now on I will stay away from Abe's of Main. They will then transfer you to a line that will never be picked up. I am very unhappy with this company.

I bought a front panel for my air conditioner on October 7th. On the website, they said it was in stock. Three weeks later, I called to see what happened to my order and after being on hold for 35 minutes and getting disconnected, I called back again, waiting another 35 minutes. I was told they needed three more weeks to get the item in stock. I told them that I no longer wanted the item, and would order it from where I live in New York City. I also sent them an email to confirm the cancellation since I did not want to wait on the phone again. Usually you get a confirmation that the order has been cancelled but not in this case, nothing. So about a week ago, I sent them another email to cancel the order again, just to make sure they received it.

Yesterday, I got a call saying they were sending me my order. I called back and left word on the extension phone number I was given telling them that I had sent them two emails regarding this order and no longer wanted it, since I purchased it elsewhere. I got a call today saying, "Do not worry," they would cancel it but I had to call Mastercard to tell them to cancel it. They have the worst customer service I have ever experienced and I would never do business with them again no matter how good a deal I was getting. I have never had to call a credit card number to cancel an item. The company usually does it, not with them. Stay away. They are the worst.

On October 1st, I placed an online order for a microwave. It was listed as "in stock." Order processing time was listed as 24 hours, and shipping time is 5-6 days. On October 9, the order was still processing. I tried to call, but after being on hold for 45 minutes, I had to hang up. On October 10, they charged my credit card. Again, I tried to call, and after 40 minutes, somebody finally came on the phone. He proceeded to tell me that the item is out of stock and they are waiting for a delivery from the manufacturer and expect to ship the following week. I told him to cancel my order immediately and credit my account.

Today is October 22, and I am on hold again, over 30 minutes now, because I still haven't received my refund. I sent several emails, left messages, and not once did I receive a return phone call. Don't know of any other company that charges for an item that is out of stock. It is an outrage! Don't know if I will ever get my money back, and it is almost $500 we are talking about. Stay away from this place!

It's absolutely horrid. Stay miles away from this fraudulent company. Their website and overall business plan is built upon lies! I ordered a Canon lens 8 days ago. After 5 days of my order "pending," I began attempting to contact Abe's of Maine. I sent emails, I made phone calls everyday while the con artists at Abe's of Maine held on to my order without any notification of its status or progress. Finally, after staying on hold for 2 hours, no exaggeration, my wife was able to speak with someone and we found out Abe's never had the product in stock. We'll see how long the refund takes. Bottom line, these guys suck. They should not be in business. Stay away.

I purchased a 70-inch Sharp TV on 9/5/12. I was contacted by Larry that day and had the same harassment that everyone has had. I needed the product right away and he told me the 5-day shipping would really be 10 unless I upgraded to White Glove service, which I did for $100. The product was guaranteed delivery on 9/13. When it didn't come, I contacted Larry on 9/13/12. He said there was nothing he could do but the TV wouldn't come until 9/21 or 9/24. I spoke to Jason (after being on hold for 45 minutes). Jason was so rude and screamed at me. He wished me luck proving anything and refused to cancel my order. He still tells me it is coming on 9/21 whether I want it or not. I'm disputing the charges with my credit card but don't know what to do. Stay away from Abe's of Maine. They're nothing but a bunch of liars.

They fraudulently charged my CC for item not in stock: So the lesson of this story is if it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, congratulations you are dealing with Abe's of Maine. My story starts Monday, April 2nd when I gave Abe's of Main the benefit of the doubt and purchased a 60" Samsung LED from them because they had great pricing, free shipping (delivery within 5-6 bus.days) and no tax. It's possible people just had a bad experience. What company could possibly be so bad?

Tuesday, April 3rd, I get a call from Mike ** to confirm my order. He proceeds to try to upsell me on the shipping telling me that the free freight will almost guarantee a broken TV and that would result in dealing with the freight company to get a refund which could take several weeks. I declined and also politely declined the extended warranty. Mike tells me it will now take 7-10 days for my TV to ship and another number of days before I receive the TV. He ends the call by wishing me luck in a sarcastic tone. Not once, not twice, but three times because I didn't accept his upsell of "white glove" delivery.

FYI, my credit card has been charged over $2,600! Wednesday, April 4th, I slept on the experience and decided, "You know what, the Duck's of Maine does not deserve my business." I called to cancel my order and spoke with Ray ** from customer service. When I told him that I want to cancel, the order he says it's already ready to ship, contradicting what Mike ** said. After I point out that discrepancy, he says he is very sorry, that he will inform the management team of the issue and that it was not acceptable. He then offers me upgraded shipping and a $100 restaurant gift card and tells me that I will receive the TV by Friday or Saturday. I declined the $100 gift card and say I just want the TV. I thanked him for his professionalism and think, "You know what, those guys aren't that bad." I am given a number for a freight company but told not to call and that my tracking number will be coming by end of the day.

Friday, April 6th, no tracking number and guess what, Ray ** is off for Easter! I was lucky enough to land Frank ** in customer service. And guess what? There is no record of my conversation with Ray. The item did not ship and is in fact coming from the Samsung warehouse. Once again, I get the sorry for the inconvenience story, quack, quack, quack, quack. And once again, I give them the benefit of the doubt when Frank tells me that he won't know until Monday on the tracking number. I tell him okay and that I will check in.

I followed my call with Frank with a nice email to David **, VP of Duck's of Maine with my story and he responds Sunday telling me and I quote: "I do apologize that you have had an unpleasant transaction and I will definitely listen to the recording between you and Mike **. If he indeed had been rude and said that the television would have problems if you did not upgrade the shipping, he will be handled in a manner that he has not seen. That is 100 percent false and we do not practice things like that. Regarding Ray in customer service, to be honest he is already on his last leg working at Abe's and I will have a nice chat with him. I will check on the stays for you on Monday and do hope Frank did take care of the issue for you. If you need please see below my contact information just give me a call anytime Monday-Thursday 9:00 7:00 pm."

Aww...that was sweet. Monday, April 9th, what a surprise. No updates from Frank. Let's try to call customer service's main number. It must be my lucky day. It's Frank! Hi, Frank! What's that? The TV is in stock but you guys are trying to figure out whether or not R&J Trucking or another firm will be making the delivery. Great and I will get the tracking number by close of business. Thank you!

Tuesday, April 10th, seriously, I mean seriously. A previous poster mentioned this but didn't believe until it happened to me. I called at 5pm on the phone that I used for the previous calls. They close at 6pm. I get automatically kicked to a recording that business hours end at 6pm and to call again. Hmmm....what happens when I call from a new line. Ring, ring, ring. I get through! They blocked my number! I spoke with Jason from customer service whose last name I didn't care to get. What? The TV is not in stock because it was really popular and Samsung didn't make enough. I told him to cancel my order. "But sir, how about we give you the 3-year warranty for free." "No, cancel my order." I am put on hold and he comes back and tells me that he is aware that I reached out to VP of Duck's of Maine and tells me that I will get the first one that comes in. "Cancel my order, Jason!" He finally cancels my order and says I will be credited back on my credit card for a TV that was never in stock and that never shipped. Last time I checked that's called fraud in the U.S.

I have often heard Judge Judy discourage the purchase of large priced items over the internet but I took the risk anyway because it was $600 cheaper than Sears, Sam’s Club and Costco. In addition, there was no requirement to pay taxes or shipping. What a deal I thought.

On 26 Dec 11, I went on the website of Abe’s of Maine and ordered a Samsung UN55D7000 for $1,749. Completely surprised at the much lower cost before ordering, my brother (a district manager for Aaron’s Electronics) suggested I call and ask them if the TV was refurbished or used. I did and the customer service representative said it was brand new. He then told me to ask about the return policy. The representative said 30 days. So I’m thinking even if they lied and it is refurbished, I can return it.

The TV was to take 7 days to arrive. When it didn’t, I became concerned about the 30 day return policy. I called and asked if the 30 days began on the date of order or the date the TV is delivered. The representative from Abe’s of Maine said upon receipt. I received the TV on 13 January 12. I opened the box, inspected the TV. It looked perfect just like a brand new TV. Knowing the Superbowl was approaching on 21st of January 2012. I plugged the TV into the wall and into the cable box. There were lines on the screen but only when it was turned on. I didn’t understand. In addition, there was a document in the box with paper work that states, “Stop. Do not return to store, call Samsung.”

Between the 21st and the 28th of Jan, I called Samsung for assistance. They said they would send out a rep. A rep arrived said the damage occurred during packaging. He then asked for the number to the merchant. After he spoke with Abe’s of Maine, he said they said I was told I had 7 days to contact the shipper if there were issues. In addition, the representative from Abe’s of Maine stated that this was a problem Samsung should fix. A rep was sent. He sent in his report to Samsung and Samsung said it was a shipper issue. I am thoroughly confused so I go online to review Abe’s of Main purchase policy.

I ordered a Bosch microwave from Abe's of Maine on 10/20. Abe’s was closed for a religious holiday, and is also closed on the weekends, which delayed the delivery many days more. After several calls to Abe's and to the shipping company, I was told by Abe's that it was delivered and to call the shipping company. Shipper said they hadn't received it yet, which was the truth. Abe's basically told me it was on its way when it wasn't, and put the job of calling shipper, several times, when they knew it wasn't there. I had to wait over 2 weeks. Finally, I received it 15 days later, the evening of 11/4/11. There was no hardware to install the wall bracket, no manual with the microwave. The two bolts that did come with it were stripped and the edges were marred as if installed or removed with channel locks or pliers. My husband spent hours to install and buy the hardware, just to find out that it wasn't working at all. Abe’s is not open on weekends, so we had to wait some more.

It was supposed to be a demo model, not a return. There is no reason that a demo model should not work. Quite obviously it should have been sent to me working. I called Abe's and they basically said there was nothing he could do except I could return it to Abe's after waiting all this time. He gave me Bosch's contact if I wanted to get it fixed and told me that he would send a $100 restaurant gift certificate, which I never received.

Bosch put me to a few choices on servicers, and my husband took off a day of work to meet with one. They stated the problem is with the circuit board, which they would have to order. After waiting over 30 days (part was on backorder with Bosch) my husband took another day off of work to meet with the servicer again on 12/9. They brought with them the replacement circuit board and now it is yet another part that is broken, which will have to be ordered and lose yet another day from work.

So, after waiting almost 2 months (and 3 lost days of work) since order, I have yet to have a working microwave. I do believe Abe's sold an item that they knew was not working, and/or should have checked it before sending it out to the customer. I believe it was a returned product that Abe's tried to pass off. What demo doesn't work? What demo would not have included the installation hardware or manual? Of course Abe's has taken my money at the onset. I am disgusted at how Abe’s operated in this manner--uncaring and unethical.

They all seems to be scammer, just take money and go away. They gave me some **** tracking number which shows same status since three weeks, also overcharging in shipping. Total scam site. Please don't get into their trap of lower prices because they never deliver.

I ordered Samsung LED Series 6 6500 42" TV via phone on May 13th, 2010 in the amount of $1618.18. I paid $88.32 for "4-6" day shipping. I was pressured into buying a "4 year maintenance contract". The total amount came to $1885 with a hundred dollar coupon for a restaurant website. We wanted the TV to see NBA east & west playoff games.

I tried over a dozen times to call 1-800-992-2237 within their stated business hours to get the shipping charges removed, as the playoffs were almost over and we hadn't received the TV. Each time, I heard a recorded message, fifteen minutes of music, and then was disconnected. Finally on May 24th, the shipping company called and said they would deliver the TV on May 25th. To me, this is standard 7-10 day shipping, which is free at Abe's of Maine.

On the morning of May 25th, I called Abe's of Maine again, only this time using a borrowed cell phone. All my previous calls had been from my home phone, the same phone used for the original order. On the borrowed cell phone, I immediately got a real person. When I explained what I wanted, he said you need to talk to customer support, then a recorded message, fifteen minutes of music, call disconnected.

By now I realize Abe's of Maine automatically blocked my home phone so that I would always hear messages & music but never be able to talk to a real person. At one point, the day after my order, the messages said Abe's of Maine would be closed for three days - enough time to prevent me from changing or cancelling my order before shipping. On the morning of May 25th, I googled "Abe's of Maine Scams". There were many, many hits. Likewise, for "Abe's of Maine complaints".

Furious, I called my credit card company, Discover Card. When I was routed to the billing services department, a nice lady listened to my tale of woe. She mentioned Discover was aware of many complaints listed for Abe's of Maine. She offered to call Abe's of Maine and conference me in. "Great," I said. After quite a few minutes, "Dave" said he could rebate the shipping and, per my request, cancel maintenance contract fees. He then quoted a price for the TV that was $30 more than the $1618.18 I had paid. I objected because I had the TV in my shopping cart on the Abe's of Maine website as of May 13th for $1618.18. "Dave" relented. At this point, the nice lady from Discover Card had to go.

As soon as she did, "Dave" passed me on to "Jason". Jason tried to explain why 4-6 day shipping would really occur May 13th-25th. I lost it and started yelling. Dave told Jason to rebate shipping and maintenance contract fees. Jason took awhile, no doubt calling the shipper to verify where the TV was, while I listened to more recordings and music. Finally, Jason came back and promised to make a rebate of $281.82 to my credit card within three days. I'm not sure where that amount came from but, I thought it best to accept what was on the table. I told Jason I would be calling Discover Card to give them the amount of the promised rebate. I did call Discover Card.

Another nice lady in the billing services department told me Discover Card would institute fraud processing if the promised $281.82 credit did not occur within fifteen days. I mailed the $100 restaurant website card back to Abe's of Maine. The TV was delivered an hour later by a little man from India, driving a very dirty, fifteen year old station wagon with no back window. Abe's of Maine used to be a good company. There should be some way to prevent what they're doing now.

They pulled a bait and switch. I ordered a Pioneer plasma T.V. on their site. They then call me up, Salesman named Larry, who says they are checking to make sure I am who I say I am. Of course this is not why they are calling. They are calling because they want to sell me more stuff.
Larry tells me he can get me a $200 pioneer T.V. stand for $50, I being the idiot than I am fall for it. Of course I recieved the stand, but it is not made by pioneer and it is a cheap light weight sheetmetal version of the one I was supposed to recieve. So I send several e-mail leave several voice mails with no response until I finally am able to get a hold of Larry, and it was like I am talking to a sleezy used car salesman. He tells me that they have no control over the stand as it comes bundled ('wrapped in plastic together with the t.v.', larrys words) straight from the Pioneer's factory. Of course this makes absolutely no sense since they initially offered it without a stand and shipped it seperately. Of course I tell him this makes no sense and he tells me that they will have to charge me for the original shipping cost to me, since they did not initially, which again makes no sense whatsoever. I then told them if I did not get a full refund on the stand that I would refuse the T.V. shipment, but Larry just said he 'entered it into his notes' and that was the end of the phone consversaion and have not hear back from them. I still have not accepted the T.V. shipment and am shipping back the stand. I plan to talk to my credit card company and will ask for a charge back, but I also wanted to report these bastards who clearly know exaclty what they are doing. check out these other reviews I found randomly on google: http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/abe039s-of-maine-c130823.html http://www.epinions.com/content_286676782724 These guys need to be prosecuted. Any advice on nailing these guys to the wall? They are very clever too. After their initial phone call to me, they issued me a new reciept with the additional charge for the stand, but the reciept does not indicatet he model number nor the actual cost of the stand, just a final price. Very Convenient, and the stand they were advertising to me is no longer advertised on their site, this in funnier. lol. Please help me get these guys. Thanks,
