Have had two other brands. This is still superior picture, more pixels so more color. BUT... Within the first year, I had to use the warranty to have repair out to the house because the TV failed. Also, always slow response to remote control, occasionally gets stuck and won't respond to remote control, including trying to turn it off and on again, so have to get up and do it with manual controls behind the TV which is irritating and clumsy and then it goes back to working okay again... Can't ever remember which of the buttons is the right one and have to do it by touch alone behind the TV.

I read that it is advised that you get the extended warranty because three out of every five digital TVs will fail because digital TVs are touchy, and it's true, so get that warranty extension. I got TV at Costco, so after original factory warranty finished still had two more years: one because of purchased extension, and finally one more because American Express automatically gives customers an extra year. Five years altogether. The odds are that you may need it.

I have owned a 60-inch Sony for more than 5 years and have never had any issues with it. It has many features although by today standards does not meet a 5 star rating. The only feature that has bothered me is that its remote control requires a somewhat direct line of sight to be effective. The second, is a Sony 46 inch very thin, purchased 2012 and works a little better (picture). The picture is a little sharper and cleaner. I have had a very good experience with the Sony TVs since 1985. Sony is a little on the high end, but you get what you pay for.

It seems Sony has lost their ability to respect the consumer that purchases their products.

I have found that Sony builds TV's to last little over a year and want you to purchase a new because they refuse to honor their warranty even if you spend 3-4000 dollars and the TV is only 1 month out of warranty. After 40 years of Sony TV's I have finally learned that Sony refuses to back up what they think is a great TV even just a month out of warranty. Even within warranty Sony refused to repair a 70" TV that had a bad display panel, Sony offered one option which was to replace it with a discontinued model not of the same quality. Needless to say my experience with Sony has made me Samsung and Sharp TV's because quality and support is so much better. TV worked fine until Sept 2015 when the picture went to all vertical lines, so we did the troubleshooting on Sony website and it said it was defective TV, to contact Sony. Being the TV was 9 months old it would be covered under warranty . so we did just that and contacted Sony in which they said someone would contact us to let us know whether they would repair or replace the TV, all we needed to do was take a picture of the screen with our phone and send it to them, which was fine.

So in a week or so Sony contacted us and said by the picture we send them they could tell we damaged the TV and being it is our fault they would not help. We are 2 seniors and I am a disabled vet but we must have damaged the TV ourselves in which they knew from a cell phone picture. Sony should be ashamed of themselves not to stand behind the product when clearly no one damaged this TV. So we had to save for 3 months before we could get a new TV. I wish someone could of helped. So I hope this post will sway someone to another brand. Thanks.

Despite being registered I was never notified of a recall. They evidently paid to repaid those that were aware of the recall. By the time I was aware of it the time had expired. The 55 inch went out about 2 years with a blown power supply. I will never own another Sony TV. They are trading on their past reputation, and in my opinion turning out junk.

I purchased a Sony Bravia LED TV for a number of reasons: I previously had a Sony and got very good service (long life) and the Bravia also had the best picture and features of any TV on the market. I was pretty happy with it right up until it blew up (the picture went bad and showed only lines). The set failed one week after the end of the first year of service. That means it was one week out of the manufacturer's warranty period. I was extremely happy that I had bought the extended warranty from Fry's or I would have been out the $1500 I paid for the thing.

The downside is it took me more than three weeks to get a replacement so I had to purchase a cheaper Vizio unit until I got the next Sony. The technician who came to examine the dead Sony told me that failures of the "panel" are very common due to manufacturing defects. The low price of TV's is a mixed blessing because they are now like PC's which is to say they have very poor quality control and are assumed to have a short life span because the tech is evolving so fast. I don't know if Sony is any worse than other major manufacturers but the quality is very problematic.

My second Sony is about a year old, I hope it lasts longer than the first one. One other point: the world is now full of "smart TV's", which are great but understand that they have computers in them. Mine has NEVER worked 100% for accessing the internet or Netflix streaming. Sony released multiple software "fixes" for the networking problems and it works better for Netflix but still crashes sometimes. The unit also contains so little memory that it can't access regular sites, and the memory can't be increased.

I have hesitated for several months to post my very bad luck with Sony's quality and customer support. This is from a 40-year loyal customer that has bought and sold 100's of Sony products. Very disappointed in Sony's quality and support which is terrible. Sony must have sold the company to someone who knows nothing about TVs or customer satisfaction, for the quality to drop so far below bad. I feel very disappointed and cheated from a company (Sony) that I have trusted for more than 40 years and thousands of dollars spent. I am very upset and extremely pissed off that (2) 70" TVs have stopped working because of bad display panels. Both TVs were purchased within 2 months of each other.

The first TV went out with a bad display panel within the first year of warranty. At that time I mentioned to Sony I was concerned about the 2nd TV having the same problem and they said they would handle that when and if anything happened, they just wanted it to go out of warranty. After 3 months and over 25 phone calls Sony said they would send a replacement. I had to pay $150 to diagnose the problem because Sony refused to pay a auth. dealer to diagnose since they were sending a replacement instead of repair. Sony refused to repair the TV because they knew they were installing poorly made display panels and would not last. My only choice Sony gave me was to send a replacement of their choice.

The TV I received as an equal value TV was junk, a discontinued model with a thick not thin trim as the old one. Different in color, silver not black. Quality of picture was not nearly the quality of what I purchased. But with the only choice Sony gave me what else could I do. Sony should have repaired the TV instead of replacing it with another discontinued model. Not happy with replacement at all. The 2nd 70" TV performed in the same manner 6 months later, the display panel failed as I was afraid of. Sony knew that the display panels were bad in that model when they released them to the public who thought they were purchasing a good quality TV. I believe Sony would not repair the 2nd TV being out of warranty as they wanted, even when they said they would handle that if it happened. I figured it would, just had that feeling, just didn't want to get the runaround and hassle for another 3 months.

The 2nd TV cost me another $150 to diagnose, in the hopes it would be something minor but no it was as I expected. DISPLAY PANEL FAILURE. A TV anyone purchases for $3000 you would expect to last more than a year or one and a half years as mine did. I feel like a customer that under experimental reasons got ripped off. Sony realized that it was a bad model when they released it for sale. That's the reason that model was discontinued and replaced with another model that was discontinued also, maybe that model had the same type display panel also. I have 7 Sony TVs in my household and usually purchase 2 at a time when I upgrade. If Sony can't step up and satisfy I intend after the first of the year to stop selling and recommending Sony Products in my computer stores. I will also find any reviews and all forums I can find to warn the public of Sony's downhill spin of very poor quality, workmanship and support.

I will be relentless on getting the word out there in the forums, facebook and video on YouTube. After over 40 years and hundreds of TVs I've purchased, sold and recommended I intend to let the public be aware of the drastic drop in quality and very poor support Sony is now representing with the prices of TVs. As high as they are, a consumer wants more than 1 or 2 years of TV viewing for $3000 to $5000 price tag. After so many years it's a shame Sony has lowered their standards of quality in their products.

Sony needs to step up to the plate and take better care of their loyal customers. Today's cost are so high customers want a product of good quality and a lot better and friendlier support to take care of their concerns in a way they don't feel ignored or taken advantage of by making a mistake of buying Sony. Sony should take a look at some other companies that are making customer satisfaction their top priority, and it's working with customers going back to the companies that take care of them. If Sony would step up and replace this TV with a good quality TV, I would reconsider. Sony needs to do something of integrity or face the fact they will lose more loyal customers.

We bought a Sony Bravia TV through Best Buy. Every hour our program is interrupted by CRACKLE which we were told is a SONY streaming service. We have to reprogram through U-verse the program we were watching. I have tried to contact SONY how to remove this constant interruption, but without an answer.

All I can say is Sony's quality has declined significantly since the 80's and 90's. We thought Sony TVs were high quality, so we bought a $1800 Sony Bravia 46 inch about 3 years ago from the Sony Store. The unit worked and looked great for about 8 months. Afterwards the picture became 'white washed' and grainy looking, with tiny horizontal lines throughout. We called Sony help to ask the repair cost or for a refund or exchange. They were quite rude, and told us the panel burned out and that we would need to pay some 700 dollars to fix it. That's half the cost of a new TV. We refused the 'offer'. We cannot afford another TV after only 8 months. Buy a Samsung, or LG.

The service center says the Full LED Panel has to be replaced costing Rs13000. We are shocked and don't know what to do. Very bad experience with Sony.

I bought a Sony bravia 32" LCD TV from QRS Calicut Kerala on August 2012. Its screen shows double image since last Sunday. Today a services person came home and after inspection he told me the display has to be replaced and it will cost around 12k rs. The display is failed within 3 years with very moderate use. I used it only one or two hours per day. And I have a stabilizer installed with TV and there is no voltage fluctuations in my house. Very much disappointed with the quality of the product. It is better to buy a Chinese TV or a micromax or intex TV. Sony is very very bad in quality. I am planning to buy a new laptop, won't buy a Sony product again.

The reliability and durability is very poor. I would not recommend this TV to anyone. I tried reaching out to SONY to find out if there was a recall on this model but am not able to find this information. How and from where can I know if there is a recall on this particular model.

I purchased a top of the line KDLXBR9 in October 2009, I also purchased the extended warranty (5 years) and the TV screen went out in October 2015, the TV didn't last 6 years. Sony customer service was non-existent, the only thing they could do was tell me to pay for a repair that would be guaranteed for 6 months.

Don't know the model but it's about 13 months old. It's the second one we've had in the last three years (the first one was taken out when lightning hit the house in 2012 and took out several appliances including the first Sony). After that, we got Vizio which we hated and at the same time, our neighbors had one which they also hated. Thirteen months ago lightning again hit and we lost the TV along with the microwave and the landline phone. Remembering how much we liked the first Sony, we got another one though unfortunately it's not a 44 inch like the first one (one was not available); it's not quite as nice (we'd rather have a larger screen) but we like it. The picture is excellent, good sound and we're happy.

Sony is a good brand but I would recommend Samsung or LG as they have a better reputation. Sony's quality is not what it once was. I had to have the motherboard replaced this tube model and the quality is not what it once was as they use rebuilt parts as opposed to new parts.

I have 2 Sony flat screens in my home and I'm very stupid when it comes to technology so things have to be simple for me to use. I find that with the Sony TVs (no smart tv as of yet). I did have a problem with pop-ups with one of the TVs after a couple of years owning it and we had to reset it back to "factory" in order to get rid of them. Following the instructions in the manual to remove them was of no use and didn't work when we constantly tried. Other than that I am very happy with my TV's.

Sony Bravia KDL-52EX700 (Rec room about 8 years old) was given to us by Sony in exchange for a 55 inch Sony that developed a terrible green tinge (and this was after the recall for this machine). This Sony works very well as well, integrates with a Sony Blu-Ray DVD for internet access and a DirecTV Genie DVR (and three other DVR). Color is excellent, sound is pretty good for tv speakers and gives us enough input ports for just about anything. You can never have too many ports of every kind! ;-) Sony KDL 46W4100 (my office) came with the house as did a Sharp Aquos LC-15b6U-SW and Panasonic CRT (Older model). Sony works great, easy to use. Only complaint is the Banner is not adjustable and stays around quite some time.

I had 2 55-inch and 1 60-inch Sony TVs. I would not recommend that anyone purchase any Sony TV as they are all, in my opinion, just waiting to fail. The light engines on the 55 inch were both defective and failed and somehow Sony was able to avoid a recall. They did have a website but you had to file a claim within a certain time but even though mine were registered I never was notified. The power supply on the 60 inch went next. Folks, Sony is trading on their past success and in my opinion is turning out nothing but junk.

I have a Sony Bravia KDL- 46HX820. The picture quality is fabulous, the sound quality is average. It is supposed to have Internet connectivity but that part is very poor. In order to access the Internet, you have to use the remote and it isn't like a keyboard, you have to push the button 3 times for one letter! Definitely not user friendly to access the Internet. Practically impossible to do a search. Also, the guide feature has quit working and Sony nor Rovi have been able to figure it out, so really poor customer. I think it would work better with a sound bar, as turned up all the way still isn't great for an action movie or if you have your air conditioner running.
