We have a Sony KDS-55A2000 and the screen has a distinct green hue. I checked on the Internet and there was a lawsuit against Sony resulting in them forced to recall the TVs for this very reason, i.e.: green hue. I contacted Sony customer service and was told it was no longer a recall. WHAT... when does a recall expire. Well, according to Sony it was posted on their website and it expired approximately two years ago. So, what am I supposed to do? Am I supposed to go to their website and check for recalls prior to a malfunction? I think this is all crap so they don't have to repair the problem. The more people that don't check prior, the less TVs they have to repair. It really baffles me that ConsumerAffairs will let Sony away with this. As far as I'm concerned a recall is a recall. Oh, and we are going to purchase a Samsung TV, no more Sony's. We had purchased Sony because it was supposed to be a good brand name.

Three weeks after purchasing a Sony Blue Ray DVD player the remote control quit working. I've been waiting for a replacement for over two months now as it is on backorder. Now the Sony remote for the TV has quit working! The TV can't even be turned on or off without a remote!! I called Sony and this too is on backorder. No more Sony products for me. I'll stick with LG or Samsung. And Best Buy is no help - said I should have bought their extended warranty. The products they sell don't even last three months!

I paid a Sony repair agent to come fix our 2 year old Sony Bravia TV. He said "No problem it's on the recall list". We called and set up appointment to get the replacement. When the repairman arrived he looked at the TV and said "Oh yeah, this one is not on the list sorry. Nothing we can do about the blue lines on the screen". Model # 3100 has the same motherboard as the 5100 - but they refuse to add it to the list because they don't want to replace all the broken TVs. Thanks Sony. I will also be returning the other three we have purchased under warranty and getting all our money back.

I have a Sony LED television model KDL60w630B (Serial #5001297) that I purchased on 10/19/2014 from a Best Buy retail store. On 11/10/2015 I noticed a green vertical line and a thicker black vertical line appearing on the screen. I contacted Sony support and explained that the TV was out of warranty by approximately 21 days and that I was having an issue. The agent encouraged me to take the set to an authorized Sony repair facility, which I did, for a diagnosis and then report back to Sony Customer Support. I paid a $50 fee to have the service facility diagnose the issue.

The repair facility contacted me and informed me that the TV panel has failed and that it would be cost-prohibitive to fix, leaving me with a nearly $1000 paperweight after less than 13 months of use. I contacted Customer Support today and they said there is nothing they can do. I asked if there was someone else that I could speak with. The agent provided me with this email address and I wrote to them but they have not responded. Terrible customer service. I have purchased SONY products my entire life but this philosophy is being severely tested at the moment. I realize the TV is out of warranty but a catastrophic failure after 13 months is unacceptable. Perhaps I'm being naive, but I hold out hope that Sony will do the right thing in these circumstances.

I purchased the 55 inch tv on 03/16/2014 for $2500. The tv stopped working on Oct 4th 2015, just a few weeks past the 18 month warranty. When I try to turn the tv on, the led indicator flashes red twice. Up until the tv stopped working, I really did enjoy it. However, after many phone calls, Sony refuses to even consider paying for any repairs. The most the troubleshooting article says is that it is an "internal Component". The biggest rub is that one of the last customer service individuals I spoke to said that if the tv was less than 90 days past warranty, Sony would still cover the the repairs, but not replace it... I just needed to provide my proof of purchase. (Her name was Lisa and she was the only remotely nice CSR I spoke to...)

I then provided the receipt... Several days later was contacted by a cold csr who said my product was out of warranty. No kidding, I can add! He said she was completely incorrect. They again refused to do nothing more than refer me to an authorized repair shop. Totally frustrating. I can't believe a tv that cost this much stopped working after such a short time. I will NEVER buy a SONY product again. I warn other buyers to be aware...

We purchased a 70" Sony LCD television about 14 months ago from a business in Carrollton, Ga. While watching, it just went blank. The service tech said it is not repairable, but could not determine the specific problem. They no longer make this model. The frontline customer service reps at Sony can't help you. They have no authorization to do anything. They say someone will call you back in 24-48 hours. We wait several days and no return call. Finally, after 3 weeks Sony customers service told us they will give us a 50% rebate as soon as they had the TV in their possession. Sony said they will handle the shipping of the TV. It's been 2 months and nothing. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions.

I had bought Sony Bravia 32" LCD TV (KLV:32CX350) in May 2013. Within 2 years 4 months from buying this TV, it started showing double screen with horizontal lines in the bottom of the TV. I called up Sony service center and I was told that screen panel needs to be replaced. The cost of replacement is Rs. 12000 which is more than the purchase price of the TV itself. Very disappointing experience with the Sony brand. Instead of getting my TV repaired I am now planning to buy LG or Samsung. Request everyone not to buy Sony products as their product quality has deteriorated immensely.

I purchased a 22' Sony Bravia LED from E-Bazaar, Raja Garden, New Delhi last year. But I didn't get it installed at that time. When I wanted to get it installed and called Sony India, they told me that they will provide the wall mount at the time of installation, which will be free of cost. They registered my complaint and gave me an ID no. **. They registered my complaint with ACE ELECTRONICS customer service centre and their no. is 011-45000123.

When I called Ace Electronics, a girl ** received my call and told me that E-Bazaar is not a registered seller. I told her that Sony India told me that he is a registered seller, but she denied and said Sony India doesn't know about dealers. In fact she asked me that the installation will be chargeable and will charge Rs. 1500 for installation and wall mount. When I checked back to my seller, he claimed that he is a registered seller and Ace Electronics is lying.

I kept on calling Ace Electronics for 5 days, but that girl told me the same thing over and over again. I finally asked my seller, then he said that get it in written by Ace Electronics that E-bazaar is not a registered seller. When I called Ace Electronics to get the same done or else I will complain to Sony India, that girl denied to provide it. Within 30 minutes there was a technician from Ace Electronics who installed my TV for free. Though my issue was resolved but Ace Electronics was trying to cheat me and make money out of me. Sony India should cancel their license as they are harassing customers at their Brand name. Ace Electronics are fraud and are trying to deceive customers. Sony India must take some action against them.

I have hesitated for several months to post my very bad luck with Sony's quality and customer support. This is from a 40-year loyal customer that has bought and sold 100's of Sony products. Very disappointed in Sony's quality and support which is terrible. Sony must have sold the company to someone who knows nothing about TVs or customer satisfaction, for the quality to drop so far below bad. I feel very disappointed and cheated from a company (Sony) that I have trusted for more than 40 years and thousands of dollars spent. I am very upset and extremely pissed off that (2) 70" TVs have stopped working because of bad display panels. Both TVs were purchased within 2 months of each other.

The first TV went out with a bad display panel within the first year of warranty. At that time I mentioned to Sony I was concerned about the 2nd TV having the same problem and they said they would handle that when and if anything happened, they just wanted it to go out of warranty. After 3 months and over 25 phone calls Sony said they would send a replacement. I had to pay $150 to diagnose the problem because Sony refused to pay a auth. dealer to diagnose since they were sending a replacement instead of repair. Sony refused to repair the TV because they knew they were installing poorly made display panels and would not last. My only choice Sony gave me was to send a replacement of their choice.

The TV I received as an equal value TV was junk, a discontinued model with a thick not thin trim as the old one. Different in color, silver not black. Quality of picture was not nearly the quality of what I purchased. But with the only choice Sony gave me what else could I do. Sony should have repaired the TV instead of replacing it with another discontinued model. Not happy with replacement at all. The 2nd 70" TV performed in the same manner 6 months later, the display panel failed as I was afraid of. Sony knew that the display panels were bad in that model when they released them to the public who thought they were purchasing a good quality TV. I believe Sony would not repair the 2nd TV being out of warranty as they wanted, even when they said they would handle that if it happened. I figured it would, just had that feeling, just didn't want to get the runaround and hassle for another 3 months.

The 2nd TV cost me another $150 to diagnose, in the hopes it would be something minor but no it was as I expected. DISPLAY PANEL FAILURE. A TV anyone purchases for $3000 you would expect to last more than a year or one and a half years as mine did. I feel like a customer that under experimental reasons got ripped off. Sony realized that it was a bad model when they released it for sale. That's the reason that model was discontinued and replaced with another model that was discontinued also, maybe that model had the same type display panel also. I have 7 Sony TVs in my household and usually purchase 2 at a time when I upgrade. If Sony can't step up and satisfy I intend after the first of the year to stop selling and recommending Sony Products in my computer stores. I will also find any reviews and all forums I can find to warn the public of Sony's downhill spin of very poor quality, workmanship and support.

I will be relentless on getting the word out there in the forums, facebook and video on YouTube. After over 40 years and hundreds of TVs I've purchased, sold and recommended I intend to let the public be aware of the drastic drop in quality and very poor support Sony is now representing with the prices of TVs. As high as they are, a consumer wants more than 1 or 2 years of TV viewing for $3000 to $5000 price tag. After so many years it's a shame Sony has lowered their standards of quality in their products.

Sony needs to step up to the plate and take better care of their loyal customers. Today's cost are so high customers want a product of good quality and a lot better and friendlier support to take care of their concerns in a way they don't feel ignored or taken advantage of by making a mistake of buying Sony. Sony should take a look at some other companies that are making customer satisfaction their top priority, and it's working with customers going back to the companies that take care of them. If Sony would step up and replace this TV with a good quality TV, I would reconsider. Sony needs to do something of integrity or face the fact they will lose more loyal customers.

All I can say is Sony's quality has declined significantly since the 80's and 90's. We thought Sony TVs were high quality, so we bought a $1800 Sony Bravia 46 inch about 3 years ago from the Sony Store. The unit worked and looked great for about 8 months. Afterwards the picture became 'white washed' and grainy looking, with tiny horizontal lines throughout. We called Sony help to ask the repair cost or for a refund or exchange. They were quite rude, and told us the panel burned out and that we would need to pay some 700 dollars to fix it. That's half the cost of a new TV. We refused the 'offer'. We cannot afford another TV after only 8 months. Buy a Samsung, or LG.

It's the second one we've had in the last three years (the first one was taken out when lightning hit the house in 2012 and took out several appliances including the first Sony). After that, we got Vizio which we hated and at the same time, our neighbors had one which they also hated. Thirteen months ago lightning again hit and we lost the TV along with the microwave and the landline phone. Remembering how much we liked the first Sony, we got another one though unfortunately it's not a 44 inch like the first one (one was not available); it's not quite as nice (we'd rather have a larger screen) but we like it. This Sony works very well as well, integrates with a Sony Blu-Ray DVD for internet access and a DirecTV Genie DVR (and three other DVR). Color is excellent, sound is pretty good for tv speakers and gives us enough input ports for just about anything. A tech. visited to see the fault but incidentally tv worked fine during his visit.

The problem of strobe light flashing comes sometimes after 3-4 hours of tv viewing and sometimes just after 20 minutes. But it comes only when tv is connected to DVR set top box. It never comes when tv is connected to laptop, even after viewing tv for eight hours continuously. Strangely, even while the tv is flashing, as soon as I connect to laptop or pen drive, the video comes fine and problem gets rectified. But reconnecting to DVR again gives flashing of screen.

I have changed DVR box, HDMI cables, cleaned LVDS cables on t-con board, got the main board checked by connecting with another main board of same model, but no fix. What is bothering me is that Sony customer care knows nothing about this problem and the service center people are not able to give a solution. Sometimes they say that main board is faulty, sometimes the panel. How can tv work fine for eight hours or more with laptop if panel is gone? Or why issue comes with DVR connected only? Other sources work fine on tv.

I found that this particular model has panel failure problem in large as I found a large number of complaints of this model on many forums. I am disappointed after spending 65k bucks on this tv, which worked fine for four years only. I am thinking of buying LG tv as it has much less complaints. I will recommend everyone to avoid buying SONY LED TV.

I gave it a 4 for 2 reasons: it foreshortens people from some angles, which spoils some effects, and I dislike having to go where the remote sits to either change the volume or turn the set off. To keep the elegant, smooth look, they could have placed some controls on the back edges.

In November 2014 my husband and I purchased our very first flat screen television! To top that off... it was a 60"!!! And we no longer had to watch a 32" television again!!! We were able to get a really good deal on it a week before Black Friday. And we felt since it was a Sony... it had to be a good television. We even purchased a 2 year extended warranty on it.

About a month ago we started having issues of the television turning off automatically. We called Sony immediately and they had us unplug the television from our power strip and plug in directly to the wall. We did that. After that, it was fine for maybe a week and then it started to do it again so we called and spoke to them. They told us they would have a technician contact us within 48 hours to come out and repair it. This was on a Friday. So we gave it the benefit of doubt and waiting until Tuesday to contact customer service again. They informed us that they did not have any technicians in our area and so they were going to send us a brand new television! We were good with that. Then a day or two later they called to inform us that they had no new 60" televisions in their warehouse in stock, not even a 65... That they did have a refurbished one if we wanted it. NO THANKS! Ummm... really??? In your warehouse??

I told them I found that hard to believe. The customer service man told us that they could refund our money OR send us a 55" newer model with more features we had currently. The price we got the television for would not even be close to what they run now so we really didn't have much of a choice but to settle for a 55". Had I seen the customer complaints I have seen regarding Sony products before we purchased a television... I WOULD NOT have bought a Sony. We also have no intentions on EVER buying a Sony product in the future. I feel we were lied to. After reading other complaints, I feel we got better service than most and don't get me wrong, I am thankful for at least getting something but never... never again!

The TV will just decide that it doesn't want to be connected anymore and it takes forever -- sometimes days to get it to connect again. I expected a lot better from Sony. This never happens on the Samsung Smart TV. Sony has just gone downhill and should get out of the TV business.

Years later, I still haven't even gotten so much an apology. I stood by Sony for thirty plus years. Everything from the Walkman to the discman to playstations to 4 separate vaio laptops, one after another to my Sony stereos... even their attempt at the music and entertainment industry. Sony used to be like buying a Honda. You knew it was the best it could be at the best above normal price. Their tech support was free and extremely helpful, and the warranties unsurpassed. But right around the mid to late nineties, they began to change. Change to what I like to call the General Motor's program. That's where you think your britches are so big that you can crap where you stand and nobody will say you stink. That GM comparison is as true today with GM as ever before.

SONY... there were only a few things I, as a consumer, could depend on that paying more money actually means you will get a better product than what's offered on the open market. I was as brand loyal as you could have hoped. I am 47 years old. I wore Levis jeans for 38 of those years. Oddly I am buying them cheaper today, than I was in the early eighties. And you can see why? They are made in Egypt, Mexico, India on and on. A lifelong consumer was lost as some other company replaced the quality you used to have. I owned a 42, and a 46-inch Bravia. Both died in less than 2 yrs. When the 42 inch I bought crapped out, I found out it would cost me 1200 bucks to fix it. I went and checked on new tvs and found the new 46 inch now cost less than the 42 I bought. Still brand loyal. I bought yet another 1800 dollar Sony Bravia. That one died in less than 1.3 years.

So I brought it to the store I bought it but and they laughed. I brought both of them to the leading tv repair shop in Denver only to be told they are worth a whopping 30 bucks a piece. 3600 dollars in two Sony tvs only to get 30 bucks a piece. I stepped out, used my smart phone and checked elsewhere and even eBay. Same quotes. I wrote Sony...nothing, not even a response. I joined CA as they had a class action suit going to Sony over this but haven't heard a peep in 3 years now. Here is my advice folks. Write a letter not an email with the words PRESIDENTIAL COMPLAINT on the outside of the letter. By company policy, it will get sent to the current president/CEO. Make sure you look up and address it to the new pres/CEO. Please mention my name Craig **, Conifer Colorado. As I have been sending letters to them for years and I'm sure they are ready to shut me up. Good luck.

Of course I fought it past the 14 days and now I'm stuck with two crappy TVs. The picture is clear for now. The worst part of this is the owner's manual says to reset the TVs you have to unplug them (kinda like rebooting them). My two year old Sony Bravia TV stopped working all of a sudden. The screen would shut down within a second when we switch on the television and their red light blinks at the bottom 6 times. Sony has specific error codes corresponding to the number of times the Red LED blinks. 6 blinks indicate backlight issue, bad main board, or bad power board or inverter boards. Nowhere does it mention that there is any problem with the panel and I'm getting clear display for a second before the TV switches off automatically. But the service center says that the panel needs to be changed and it costs 27K. I think the service center is a cheat. And very disappointed with Sony. You pay 80K for a TV and within two years it stops working and you have to pay extra 27K. Why would Sony make such unreliable products? Within two years if the TV stops working for no reason then definitely it was defective from the beginning.

But anyways the main point is the service center people are definitely lying because neither does the error code match nor is their any distortion in the display. The display is not being able to stay on and the TV switches off. Anybody with a bit of common sense could understand that there is an issue with the logic board or any other circuit board which is failing to keep the television on and THERE IS NO PROBLEM WITH THE DISPLAY.

I have a severe defect/problem with my Sony KDF-50WE655 HDTV that I purchased in 01/2005. I paid $2,400 for the TV and also purchase an extended warranty for 4 years. The blue dots and haze started 3+ years ago, and when I called Sony to tell them of the situation, they told me that I am out of luck and were ready to get me off the phone - no compassion whatsoever. I called more than one time hoping that someone would be willing to help me. I have spoken to some people (other customers) recently who have the same problem as I do and they told me that Sony remedied the issue for them to their satisfaction. There are now hundreds of blue dots all over the screen and blue haze. It is to the point that it is almost completely unwatchable, and it is getting worse.

I have just learned recently that there was a class action lawsuit regarding the blue dots/ blue haze on these TVs. No one from Sony has ever reached out/ contacted me via email or postal mail telling me of the recall/ defective TVs. Now I read on some websites that the time has passed as far as getting some type of remedy via a new discount TV, cash back, etc. If someone from Sony would have contacted me regarding the recall, I would have made it before the time ran out. The time for my TV I believe ran out 8/2012. I started having the problems start before that time, but I didn't know of any remedy since no one ever contacted me, and when I called, no one would help me.

I strongly believe that the fair thing to do is for Sony to have a technician to come out to my house and fix the TV - parts and labor at no charge to me. I am not trying to get a new TV, or cash back or even credit for a brand new TV. I would just like to have the one that I currently have to be fix at no charge to me. I spent allot of money on the TV and the extended warranty and of course during that time the problem did not occur with the blue dots and blue haze. Sony's reply is that since the lawsuit expired, there is nothing they can do for me. I just want my TV fixed to where it was when I originally purchased it and I am so angry that they never contacted me with the recall - I registered my TV the same day as I purchased it and also registered the extended warranty. Any thoughts would help. Another class action lawsuit should occur!

Was told to email proof of purchase. I was never given an event # or ticket # so first email was just discarded. I called back figured this problem out. Finally got them the receipt. They set up an appointment with HD repair company 7/29/15. The company never showed up. Apparently they didn't get the parts. So since 7/29/15 we have been back and forth with Sony and HD REPAIR. Sony finally said they would just pay out on the TV.

Here is where the problem is. If a new television is $1200+ and you paid 699.99 Sony will only pay you what you paid. How is that fair? We can't replace the TV at a Black Friday cost in July. We can't speak to anyone. They will only email. Supposedly parts were sent 2x and the repairman never received them. Instead of just sending them to my home. I do not understand why we are having to call numerous times. Literally argue with someone over an email.

I'm reading the same complaints. Reps hang up on you. No one lets you speak to a manager. They say you will be escalated and get a callback. You never do. Sony needs to be held accountable for this. It's a great thing to pay out... however why would I want to spend $400+ more on a TV? It's probably a simple fix. They need to help their customers! Or send a comparable television as a replacement. The extended warranty company won't help. They can't override Sony at this point is what I'm being told. Consumers need help!

As Sony is the leading well-known reputed brand name in electronics market. We buy Sony products because Sony is the name of trust, quality & service. And in the same way I have trusted Sony for its high quality products and customer satisfaction oriented approach.

Soon after the warranty period expired, Horizontal lines and Vertical Lines appeared on the screen. I had launched complaint and service engineer visited, as per the service report/service engineer TV panel got defected and need to replace it. As TV is out of warranty customer has to pay for the same. As Sony is International no.1 brand it has got a problem in just 2.6 Years, unbelievable! I have referred website, so many people having same problem. Means there is no meaning to go for any branded products. Why we are buying Sony Products and paying more amounts, because of Good Reliability, Good Support, Unbeatable picture quality. I would suggest do not go for any Sony brand.

I purchased this TV in month of march 2015 for about Rs. 150K+ in Bangalore. Here are some pros and cons I see.

Pros: Good picture quality (I think even 50w900 will also have same quality).

Cons: Will not support all video formats (Major drawback). Although webpage says it support mp4. I was not able to play some mp4 videos. Almost you will not be able to play most of the video formats. Almost all major brands of TVs in markets are supporting almost all video formats. Not sure why sony is not able integrate codecs in its firmware which will play almost all video formats.

Subtitle size cannot be increased. The subtitle size is very less and in my previous TV I am able to increase the size of subtitle. But Sony customer care said subtitle size cannot be increased. This is a basic feature and sony is lacking here.

As all video formats are not supported in SONY. I played some video in my laptop and connected laptop to TV through HDMI cable. To my surprise laptop is not showing in full screen mode on TV and even changing settings in TV or laptop has not given full screen on TV. I contacted SONY customer care for this and it's been almost 15 days. One guy visited my home to see the issue and he is not sure of the issue. He told he will get back to me. Not sure whether sony will say we can't see laptop in full screen of TV.

When HDD is connected to USB port of TV. The folders will be displayed. But if folder name is big full name of folder won't be displayed even though you selected that folder. Let's says you have 3 folders with similar name like english movie 1, english movie 2, english movie 3, when you take selection window to the folder it will not show the name of folder. To see the folder name you have to go inside folder which is really frustrating when you have movie series.

Regarding internet content. Most of times it will say youtube not available refresh internet content to see the youtube. Refreshing internet content is taking around 4 mins with 15 MBps internet connection. Not sure why it has to refresh every time. Sony customer care has not solved any problems for me which I raised. Even online chatting folks also point to the weblinks. They have not given any straight answers to me. So w.r.t me support from SONY is pretty bad.

I purchased a Sony model RF985RK television headset from Best Buy on Dec 11, 2014 which quit working in early May 2015. I contacted Best Buy who told me that since the unit was more than 90 days old and I hadn't purchased an additional "Geek Squad" warranty, I would have to deal directly with Sony to get the item fixed. I called Sony customer service who told me that if I sent back the unit with the order number, my home address, and bill of sale (BOS), that they would send me a replacement unit for a cost of $35 for the "labor" involved. Although I thought the $35 charge was absurd, I agreed and packed the unit in its original box, taped the required information including the BOS onto the box, placed everything in a FedEx box, and shipped it off.

I didn't hear back from Sony for two weeks so I called to check on the status of the order. They told me that I hadn't sent them the BOS and that they were waiting to receive this. I assured them that I had indeed sent the BOS (I unfortunately sent them the original without making a copy - my mistake) but then asked why no one had called to tell me this. I was told that they had called one week earlier (May 15) but we absolutely had no message on our answering machine from Sony. After looking at his notes, the Sony representative said that it appeared as though they had called but that they hadn't left a message! Unbelievable! As though I'm psychic! He then told me that he would forward my message regarding the BOS to the appropriate department and "assured" me that someone would get back with me absolutely no later than the following Wed.

As I figured, they never called back so I called them again on Friday - I was told that they were still waiting for the BOS! I asked why they hadn't called to tell me this but the customer service rep didn't have an answer. I'm sure that I could get a copy of the BOS from Best Buy, scan and email it to Sony, and get the $35 replacement unit. However, my other option was to receive a full refund for the original purchase which I've decided to do - we'll see if the check actually shows up in 4-6 weeks as I'm "assured" it will. I'll buy a replacement unit from Sennheiser which, according to reviews, is a higher quality and more reliable unit anyway.

So in the end, Sony made this right I suppose but I felt that their customer service was severely lacking. We own numerous Sony products and this is the first one we've had any problem with - I really expected quality service when a problem did arise. Not so... I feel that they really dropped the ball here. I won't say that I'll never buy another Sony product but will say that I absolutely will always look at other options first. The name Sony is no longer synonymous with the word "quality" in my opinion!

To my disappointment I purchased the Sony 60 television in November 2014 on with the expectation that Sony who I have purchased many other products through the years on to be of good value and was ethical. Not so with this purchase. Within four months after I purchased our Sony 60 TV set set up since we purchased it and not moved the TV since then, my family and I noticed that several vertical colored lines appeared on the screen. Hoping it was just a glitch and would go away we waited and within the next couple of weeks about three more vertical red, green, yellow lines across the screen impacting our field of vision.

I then decided to contact Sony customer service and was instructed to take pictures of the new TV and the model and serial number and email them to an address provided and they would send out a repair technician to fix the TV or replace the TV. I then emailed pictures of the TV to Sony TV on 5-2-15 to the where instructed to go and received an email notice they received my correspondence. I received a call on the evening of 5-5-15 from Sony customer service and since it was late I returned the call on 5-6-15. I spoke with ** with Sony TV and I asked what the status of my TV if they are going to fix it or replace it.

After waiting on the line for some time ** the representative with Sony said the TV had physical damage. Very concerned I said what the nature of the physical damage is because we have not moved the TV set since we purchased it and the multi colored lines on the set just started appearing. After several minutes the customer representative came back on the line and she said "I will check" and our upper level staff said, "the warranty on the TV does not cover physical damage".

Getting more concerned I said I disagreed and I asked if there was an appeal as this decision seemed arbitrary is not based on any physical damages (and thinking I was sold a defective TV I do not think this is ethical since no one has moved or damaged the TV and it was a new TV under Sony's one year warranty). I waited at least five minutes and the customer representative came on the line and it was my impression she acted like she could not hear me as she keeping saying is anyone there and finally just said have a nice day and hung up.

I think Sony is trying to avoid their responsibility of making good faith effort on the TV. I researched on Line to the web page consumer TVs under Sony TV (which I wish I had done earlier before I bought a Sony TV!) warranty issues and many examples of people like myself who purchased Sony TVs with the same kinds of issues with multi-colored lines on the TV set and Sony does not honor their warranty and certainly appears knows they are selling defective products and chooses not to do anything about. I wonder how may people don't take the time to do anything and I think that is what Sony is counting on to hope we will just go away. I think this is outrageous! I am contacting Department of Consumer Affairs and the fraud division of our county. I have my receipt of purchase should any verification be needed.

They remind me that only 1 year is my warranty. When I was purchasing my TV for more than couple thousand dollars at Best Buy, I was offered the store insurance for 2 years, covering any TV repairs with few limitations, and would cost a couple hundreds. I refused, since I trusted the brand I was buying, SONY, and paying high for such... Look what happened.

I still had Audio, but could not get a Menu or anything. I rang Sony, and they said to send an email of my receipt. I bought the tv from Harvey Norman in Wangaratta. Having not heard anything for 2 days I rang Sony again and they told me to contact SSS Electronics who are the Company that fixes Sony Products that are in Warranty & not in Warranty. My tv isn't because it was a 12 month Warranty. I rang SSS and they asked me if I had the box the tv came in and I said I didn't. They said they would send one as their office is 600 km from me.

2 weeks went by and nothing so I rang Harvey Norman and they suggested calling a company named Telefix in Albury located 90 km from me. They told me to bring it in which I did. After a few days I rang Telefix and was told the tv had a Faulty LCD panel which would cost $1,500 and to ring Sony Customer Service and explain this to them and to get back to Telefix. This is where I'm at now. I'll ring them tomorrow. Surely they can't expect me to pay that. Sony should, and I'll pay Telefix their Labor. If I get no Satisfaction, and Consumer Affairs can't help, my last avenue is A Current Affair. I bought this Sony Bravia 55' 4K UHD TV just before Christmas in 2014. When I turn it on and connect to cable TV, it took a few seconds to hear the audio, but more than a minute to see the picture. After a month, it took about five minutes to see the picture. Then contact the retailer which told me to contact Sony service center. They told me how to troubleshoot the problem by resetting the TV to factory settings. After reset the TV to factory settings, in the first a couple of days, it took about more than a minute to see the picture. Then it started getting worse - after a week, it would take more than five minutes to see the picture. Sometimes, it takes about ten minutes to see the picture. Then I contacted Sony again, they told me to upgrade the software. I followed the instruction and upgraded TVs software. After that, it repeated what happened after I reset to factory settings. This process took about a month.

Finally, Sony decided the TV needed to be repaired. They asked ServicePlus to pick up the TV. So far, it took four weeks, I still have not received my TV yet.

When I purchased Sony TV, I thought it is a good brand. Now what I got is completely crap. Sony should not allow such faulty TV out of their production line. How Sony could release a TV which it will took 5 to 10 minutes to show the picture to the market?

If Sony's quality management is poor, Sony's service after selling is even worse. Since I started to contact Sony service, it will take 10 to 20 minutes to talk to someone for every call. In my case, I've called Sony service for more than 30 times. After I've exhausted with this process, I asked Sony either give me refund or replace the faulty one because I lost my confidence with Sony. Sony service people told me there is a faulty component diagnosed, and an order has been put for the new component. As a consumer, I paid a good money to buy a TV, but you cannot use it. Meanwhile I still need to pay my Sky subscription. My advice for other people, do not trust Sony. I saw the Sony Bravia 4K UHD TVs have been out of some retailer, like Harvey Norman.

I was very excited at the time of purchasing my first LED TV that too on the biggest festival day of India i.e. Diwali, therefore I go for SONY only considering brand image and maintenance free entertainment for my family. It is very sad that within one year under warranty period I found problem in picture and suddenly it stopped and dark.

After analyzing it found that Board of TV will be replaced and immediately I got my solution too. I was pleased to get this service but at the same time I was confused that it is a big problem and I bear this due to under warranty only hence I decided to extend my warranty time for 2 years against payment of 2500 rupees.

On 11/04/2015 (After 1.5 Years from date of purchase) again same problem happened and this time I directly call to Sony customer care as suggested by service man during first complaint. This time frankly I follow up for my complaint because I didn't receive any message or mail for complaint registration. On 15/04/2015 service man came and again replaced board at home only.

I call to my last service man on his cell number he came in afternoon and surprised after checking that again board failed as he told to us. I used to look at Sony as one of the premier companies. I purchased sony over other brands just because of name and quality that that they provided to their customers. Their customer service on the other hand has changed my entire prospective about the company as a whole. I can honestly say that I would not wish this level of customer service on anyone and this is by far the absolute worst that I have ever experienced in my life. I purchased a 65" 4k Sony TV as well as a 70 inch Sony TV when I purchased my home. This was my first home so I was very excited and in the day that I closed I went to Brandsmart to purchase a few items including these two Sony products. Everything was delivered right to my home because these were large items and I do not own a truck.

The 70 inch Sony TV was going in my living room so I put that one up within a two days of receiving my delivery. The second TV was going in my sports room but that room wasn't ready yet so I waited for it to be completed before I installed the TV. When the room became available 4 months later I realized the TV would be best if I had a bracket that swivel instead of the one that I purchased originally, so I went to Brandsmart and returned the one I originally bracket paid the difference and went home to install. After installing my new TV I was ecstatic to see what was all the hype surrounding the quality of the 4k television that I purchased. That's when things turned sour. The television was discolored and there were lines all throughout the television I was shocked but not upset because I knew I had an extended warranty from Brandsmart as well as the manufacture warranty that covers the television in the first year.

I went to Brandsmart and they informed me that because the television was within the first year I would have to go through Sony. I will admit I was a little disappointed but still not upset because I knew I was covered. That's where I was wrong. I called Sony and spoke with a rep about the situation and was promised that someone would call me back within 24-48 hours after I emailed the pictures, so because I wanted it right away I sent the email instantly. To my surprise I received no call back. I called back three days later and made a complaint that I didn't receive a call back and asked for a supervisor and the rep told me to hold on then no one came on the phone for 30 minutes so I hung up, because I had to go to work. I then called the next day and was then informed that supervisors do not take phone calls nor can one call me back. What I was promised however was another call back that I never received.

I then received an email that Sony will not replace my TV because it had physical damage (which I 100% completely disagree with) so they will not replace the TV. I called back to inform them that I do not agree with the decision and that there is not one scratch on this television. It was fresh out of the box with all the stickers and plastic still on the remotes and everything. I asked to speak with someone in upper management or the relationship care dept. and was told that they could not transfer me to anyone. But I can have someone call me back even after I insisted that I needed to speak with someone instead of waiting for a call back. No one called me back so three days after I called again and the same thing was said and another call back was promised. So I called back again this time demanding that I speak with a supervisor and saying that I will not hang up until someone answers the phone and after 30 min I finally got someone.

A supervisor (mind you they said before that supervisors do not take phone calls) named ** came on the phone and spoke with me about the situation. He then told me that he used to work in the relationship care department and he wanted me to email him the pictures he will review them and PROMISED me a call back after he spoke with his superiors no matter the outcome of the conversation the very next day. And once again no call back, no email, no nothing. I am beyond frustrated. I was just robbed of this 3000.00 I spent on a TV (which my wife gave me hell about buying in the first place for my sports room). I am out of options. I do not know what else to do or where to go. Please someone help me. My email address is ** if you can help. I have all the receipts and everything needed for proof of purchase to show everything that I am stating. 11/08/14 is when I purchased this TV. I look forward to hearing from you.

So my 1900 dollar 70-inch LED Sony TV decided to stop working, on a Saturday before my warranty expired (22 March 2014). Amazon was very helpful - even calling Sony for me. However they did not reopen until Monday. Or that is when I could get a hold of someone. I called on March 23rd, explaining the issue. 5 blinking lights of Doom. At first I was told to go to the esupport and chat with customer representative. Then the chat support said call the same number I just dialed. These reindeer games went on for a few hours. Guess I should have given up Which is what they wanted from the get go. Sometimes with Russian roulette (Sony support) you get lucky and the offshore staff takes a break from water bong or huffing glue. Once support decides you aren't going away they will create a reference number so you don't have to re-explain everything 37 times.

Someone finally created a reference number for me. So I wouldn't be forced to turn off TV and turn on, failed factory reset etc... 24th march 2014, I was told to wait a few days to get email about exchange program (no email). 25 March - I call back. I was told I didnt send in pictures of serial number to the am.sony.com email address. I sent pictures of model of TV - 3 pictures required including serial number (told to wait 24 hours). 26 March - I call back. Was offered a substandard TV model 55-inch (I think it was a 4k version but way lower price) refurbished (one that was broke and they fixed) 90-day warranty only. Apparently the wrong model number was written down by them and they were insistent I owned a 55-inch Sony. I have the KDL70550A 70-inch version.

After I complained on amazon basically wrote an honest review the socialsupport@am.sony.com wanted to chime in. Did nothing to help but reiterate the company motto of "go ** yourself". 30 march - I called a nice guy named **. He wanted to set me up for exchange took credit card number but the "system was down" and said "don't worry it's gonna get exchanged." 31 march - I call back and apparently I have to email mydocs@am.sony.com with blood of \/irgin, spear of destiny, written letter of alamo survivor, and my receipt (proof of purchase). Thinking I finally leveled up enough to meet the requirements of Navy Seal TV replacement Boot Camp Phone Tag I failed again. Now I'm officially an "exchange candidate". The legal team will be reviewing my information for 10 days and find a reason I'm sure to deny the exchange.

This is purposeful and fraudulent pattern of behavior. Seriously? 10 Days?? In small claims court the defendant has 30 days to respond. If I filed my suit on 23 March the same amount of time is going to elapse before the exchange gets processed. So I guess Sony will find a way to deny my warranty in these 10 days. Say I accepted an offer which I did not since I have been repeatedly been lied to on the phone so I have no idea what the Rats in the pan will do when the heat is turned up. I will do everyone a favor and post any small claims information I have for getting a full refund on your defective product. Since Sony does not have any integrity whatsoever.

Since December onward we started facing problem (Pen Drive Slot not working). Whenever we use to insert Pen Drive the TV automatically gets switch off & after 2nd & 3rd month big issues came into existence. We have done call locking with Service Team Sony frequently & the Service Engineer twice replaced BAA Board, Mother Panel & recently adapter has been in lieu of change & still it's not been changed.

Still our TV is kept as a non-working asset in our home & is of no use. Need your help so that proper service can be done & we enjoy family viewing. We have one year warranty on the Set so need to know if the Television can be replaced as we are facing problems during warranty period & don't know what will happen after the warranty period. We love Sony as an excellent Brand & expecting quick action regarding service from your side.

I explored lot of tvs in the market and even bought 1 and returned since I wanted all the features on my TV. When I saw that Sony KDL70R550A has all the features such as Internet explorer and Skype APP. Internet Explorer does not work since this TV does not support Flash Player. This was my first disappointment since I could not watch online movies now. To add to this, according to the AD, it displays SKYPE clearly as the feature. I went ahead and bought a camera compatible with Sony. It did not work, so I googled it and came to know that this TV does not have SKYPE. This is very bad since a company like SONY should not display items that does not support it.

Unfortunately, I came to know about this after a month when I could not even return this TV. I wanted SKYPE so that I could video chat with my friends and family here in USA and abroad. Please let me know if there is anything that US laws can protect me. You can see Sony TV Model KDL70R550A on internet and it clearly displays SKYPE app in photo.

The screen showing some problems in September 2013, I registered a complaint with Sony India and an engineer from Jaypee Electronics, **, an authorized service agents of Sony India, attended the complaint. He informed that the panel would need to be replaced, and since the TV was out of warranty, but he also informed that for panel the warranty period is more than one year.

I have submitted the TV set at service center, they change the panel and some coils, and charge me rs. 2800 for coils only. Now, few days back (today is 20 march), the screen is again showing the white horizontal lines. The service agent guessing that it is the problem of panel again, for which I have to pay this time but the actual amount he is not sure. (ranging from Rs. 5000 to 10000). I have spent more than 40,000 rupees on Sony Bravia TV and believing that this is the best brand in the market. But now, I am feeling it was my biggest mistake. I am feeling really very bad. I need your kind attention to it ASAP. I could save the hope on brand SONY, that I am losing now, and I use to admire this brand a lot and advocate everyone to purchase SONY products.

It blinks 14 times in standby mode, no online help, user manual reference to these error codes from Sony. Called e-support several times to know what that 14 times blinking means! I purchased a 42 inch Sony Bravia LED TV (Model No. KLV-42EX410 IN5 bearing Serial No 2073032) in May 2012. The screen initially developed several vertical red lines and in December 2014, it went totally blank. I registered a complaint with Sony India (Job: **) and an engineer from Aar Vee Info Service, authorized sales and service agents of Sony India, attended the complaint. He informed that the panel would need to be replaced, and since the TV was out of warranty, I would have to pay Rs. 21,500 for a new panel. I agreed to pay the said amount and was asked to make an advance payment of Rs. 10,000 which I did. After repeated follow up with Aar Vee and Sony, I was informed that the panel is unavailable as Sony has discontinued the 42 panel. I was offered a 25% discount on the MRP of any new Sony TV. The advance amount was refunded.

A customer pays a premium for a branded product and a super premium for a super brand. At the 1st go we do not expect an expensive electronic equipment to go bust in 2 years and the entire objective of buying a branded electronic product is the after sales service. I went online to check for other complaints and it seems that there are many complaints regarding the panel of Sony TV manufactured between 2012 and 2014 some going bust within 6-7 months. It is apparent that this is a manufacturing problem and Sony as a global multinational should act responsible and sort out the problem.

Like so many others, I spent $2,500 on this Sony Bravia KDL-W4100 in August, 2008 at the now defunct Circuit City. In October, 2011, a green horizontal line appeared running top to bottom on the screen - about 4 inches in from the right edge. I contacted Sony and paid to have an authorized repair person come out. He diagnosed the issue as a bad board and screen with a replacement cost of $3,132.00. Sony offered to sell me another model TV for $900. I wrote many letters and emails and talked to many Sony reps but they would do no more for me. Now, in February, 2015, the green line that used to fade out after a while, is constantly on screen.

I see from sites like this that it is a common issue and Sony has offered an extended warranty for similar problems on another model (KDLX52XBR). So I called Sony and they referred me to their chat line who referred me back to their telephone support. That rep said there would be no warranty extension for my model and all he could do was offer me 15% off another Sony TV. No thanks.... VERY disappointing that Sony obviously has a problem but will not stand behind their product. There seems to be plenty of us having this problem that something should be done.

The TV arrived on time and with great delivery service, however, the 3D did not work. After multiple phone calls and approx. 4.5 hrs of my time Sony determined the problem was the battery in the 3D glasses. I tried to tell them that on the first call but they would not pay for the costs of returning the glasses. Finally they agreed to take the battery back and they agreed to send me a new battery after they received my defective battery. Think about it, all this over a $.50 cent battery on ebay. It is very hard to believe that a customer service department could be this bad but they are.

If you are thinking about buying a very expensive TV from Sony and in all honesty anything from Sony I would beware. I also had my credit card company on the phone and they could not believe the poor service over a cheap battery. God only knows what Sony would do with a serious issue with the TV. Sony has not sent me a new battery yet but if they handle this issue to my satisfaction I will update this review.

Also they are responding to reviews that the customer can contact them at socialsupport@am.sony.com but I cannot find that website. I wrote a review on the sony.com website but they have not posted it. I am wondering if maybe all the reviews are not showing up on the site. That looks like a possibility. If they are not posting it they should at least let me know why. I am a very frustrated customer, all over a $.50 cent battery. Hard to believe a company would conduct themselves in this manner.

My Sony Bravia kdl 55hx800 55" 3-D TV just passed away. It birth was 11-2010. Its funeral was this morning. 2-11-2015. 7 red blinking lights are the memorial.

$2200 for the TV. $365 for 3 more 3-D glasses, $159 for 5 year warranty = over $2700 NOT INCLUDING TAX. The tv lasted 4.3 years. So why not return it?? The TV was purchased from Sam's (Walmart as everyone knows) 4.3 years ago. I stopped shopping at Walmart/Sam's 8 years ago. The only reason I graced the doors of the horrible corporation was because my TV was shot. We have an advanced networking / gaming setup with 6 PS3s & 7 monitors in our game themed den. Yes we're geeks. NO there will never be a PS4 purchased. Microsoft FTW.

The Receipt given to me by Sam's is on a paper that fades with time. I can verify this to be true by showing you legal documents in an envelope from 2007, EVERYTHING from Sam's or Walmart is now blank white paper with the words Walmart or Sam's barely visible. All other receipts are still like the day they were printed. SO IF YOU BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM COPY / PHOTOGRAPH THE RECEIPT!!! AND SAVE IT IN A SAFE LOCATION! Do not expect the receipt to be readable 5 years later! Mine was stored in a filing folder in a file cabinet. The 4 square protection company will do nothing (many calls made) because they no longer see me as a Sam's member, and even if I renew nothing will be done.

The model of TV is barely visible, the date is clear, but much of the other info is gone due to purposefully fading ink. Sam's will do nothing (many calls made) and the board needed to fix the TV is NOT BUYABLE. NO ONE has it. Not even Sony. I plan to send the board to a popular supplier to see if there is anything they can do, but at this point it looks like I'm screwed out of $2700. The glasses will only work for Sony 3-D TVs and who would buy them now??? I have a stocked up supply of premium priced 3-D Disney movies (And one of my all time faves "franken weenie") that I cannot watch as well. My total loss is well over $3000. I'll be buying a 70" TV today but it will NOT be Sony.

Sony you can "expect us" to be vocal. Throughout the entire Playstation Home community there is a sense of loathing towards Sony for the HORRIBLE beta service that is Playstation Home, and the unreliable PSN . They have made more enemies this year than ever, and as I scroll through my friends lists on my accounts I see dozens of anti-Sony comments. Stocks are dropping. People are talking, blogging, and ranting. A series of youtube vids will follow. There's an old cliche... Do a good job and 1 will rave; do a bad job 9 will rant. I'm 1 of 9 and I'll be talking.

I was trying to use a very cheap RCA remote on my Sony KDL-55W802A TV purchased July 2012. The remote would function only partially, so I tried some different keys thinking I could get it to work. However, somehow I ended up damaging the software of the TV. Currently the TV turns on and has one station, but the physical keys and SONY remote do not work. The status light in front of the TV flashes green (not red). It also has indications that it receives signals from my remote, by flashing quick white lights whenever I press buttons on the remote. Resetting the TV to factory settings does not work.

I am highly surprised that a TV can be damaged by any remote. I have posted on Sony community board requests for other means to reset the TV. They have not responded. I have also requested if the TV was physically damaged, I would expect RED lights flashing, but I do not get this either. I would suspect that the TV had overwritten its bootstrap and can't load its software, or something like this. To not be able to reset the software to factory levels without the remote is very frustrating. Why didn't Sony put a reset button on its TVs like some computer do. Why did it make you use its Remote to do this? If the software stops reading the remote, then you have total failure requiring expensive repairs. This is certainly a design flaw!

I can 1) return my refurbished tv and buy a new one from them and pay $150 difference to get the 12 month warranty on the new one, or 2) I can purchase an extended warranty! Wow! I am great fan of Sony kdl-42w900b to its brand and quality so I have bought a Sony LED 3D Smart TV 42 inch on Oct 25th 2014 during Diwali sale at Reliance Digital Banjara hills Hyderabad with 1 year brand with 1 year warranty and 2 year extended warranty. It's just 1.5 months now and it started giving an issue which I raised a complaint with reliance digital and they requested me to get in touch with Sony customer care.

Sony technician visited my place and he gave the information to me that pixel has got broken in the display panel internally and this is a physical damage to the television set. When I asked the technician to show the physical damage or a crack or a scratch, he says that's how the Sony display panel is and directs me to some dot in the display panel which I cannot see.

He gave an example of soft toy or Rasgulla sweet. If you hit the panel with that also it will damage the panel. He says I am liable to pay for damage of panel. Why I should I bear the cost when there is no physical damage/crack/scratch on the equipment? The damage has occurred in the internal display panel of the TV. Why the Sony display panel is so delicate that even with soft items the panel gets damaged. Is it that I was sold a defective piece during festival offer which is giving issue within a month? After spending 80,000/- rupees, customers are not fools to damage the equipment and spend another 30,000 for display panel.

I bought 2 identical 24" Sony tvs, both were model number KLV-24EX430 in December 2012. [@ Ksh. 25,000 or $278] Both were used for approx. 5 hours daily. One of the tvs was being used for display [switched on] before buying. It was ON the whole day for an unknown period. I did not mind since I trusted Sony products would last a long time.

    History for each.

Tv on display: 1. Hdmi port fails after a year of use. I did not bother fixing it since it had another working hdmi port. 2. Two months after hdmi port failed, it started working unpredictably - may or may not turn on, or switch itself off randomly. It would die, only to resurrect days later after having the power cord unplugged for about two days. 3. Complete failure in Oct 2014 - 1 year, 9 months lifespan.

Tv not on display: 1. Everything worked well till one day in Dec 2014, the tv was properly shut off, but never turned on following day; no led blinks, nothing. - 2 years lifespan.

On visiting Kenya's Sony Service Center: 1. Paid Ksh. 2000 [$23] for each tv - consultation fee. 2. Diagnosis 2 days later - dead mainboard for both tvs. 3. Pay Ksh. 15,200 [$169] for each tv to replace mainboard. [New tv was Ksh, 16,000 or $178 - Dec 2014] After five minutes of thinking, I decided to: 1. Not to repair them since the replaced part might fail like the original one or worse. 2. Carry the dead tvs home and seek help from the internet. 3. Open up the tv and see the size of the mainboard - to determine ease of replacing one myself.

After intensive research in the internet, I realized that: 1. Sony products are failing prematurely - consumers are complaining all over. 2. The mainboard is not for sale anywhere - one has to go through Sony Service Center. [Some models have parts available] 3. Sony products seem to last between one and a half years to four years - probably depends on hours of usage. This is irrespective of the tv value [mine were cheap and behaved like other high end sets that I read about in this site] 4. The chinese are not yet making cheap parts that can replace Sony's defective ones - for the simple tvs.

I then posted the screens for sale on a local website for anyone with working mainboard. [Am not interested in buying mainboards anymore!] Lessons learnt.

    1. Stay away from Sony products. 2. LCD tvs have modular components - very easy to replace parts. 3. If your [cheap] Sony product fails, don't bother repairing it. Just sell or donate the remaining working parts to those who are willing to force their sub-standard products to work a little bit longer.

I also purchased another LCD Sony TV KLV 32 NX 500 in 2011. In March 2013 (just 2.5 years) the display of KLV 46 started turning green. On contacting Sony India's helpline, they sent an 'Engineer' (they insist on calling their technicians Engineers) who said that the set needed to be taken to their service center for further diagnosis. And of course they charged me "inspection charges". They offered to take the set to Service Center themselves if I paid the "transportation charges". Thinking that it was a minor problem, I allowed them to take the set away. Then they called me up saying that the "Panel" needed to be changed and it would cost me around INR 8000. So far so good, the set was returned and it worked. Just after 12 months the repaired set and the other set both started showing the same problem. This time as before the authorized service center wanted to replace the "panels" of both the TVs each costing INR 8000. I put my foot down.

So they relented and repaired the "previously repaired" TV for just INR 1500. But they refused to repair the other TV unless I changed the Panel. In the meanwhile I found that the right front speaker of my Home theater wasn't working properly. The "engineer" even without opening the speaker box said that I needed to replace the front speaker costing INR 5500 (the whole system had originally costed only INR 24000). I bought this Sony KDL-46EX400 from Best Buy in Montclair Plaza, Los Angeles three years ago. Two weeks ago the set started acting up. After about 15 minutes of operation, the colors will get messed up and eventually the display will become very dark. When I turn the set on, the green light goes on but no picture. In an hour it will work for a little bit and then go through the same cycle. I contacted 3 repair centers and they all said, "The video panel is bad. Not worth fixing. Trash it." I wish there will be a class action against Sony corporation for selling defective products. Personally, I will trash SONY from now on and inform all my friends about this. I hope the company will go to the dustbin of history where they belong.

I bought this TV 4 years back and it stopped working a month back. The technician after inspection declared that the product cannot be fixed as the panel is damaged. According to him Sony had problems with this series of product, and they have short supply of spares for it, so Sony offers a substitute TV at the cost of panel. After this there was no response from them. Later, after multiple calls and emails they came back again. Since I don't have the original bill or warranty docs they denied me the replacement offer. The TV was out of the warranty period and I did not have the bills. They offered me a discount on new TV and tried to close the complaint. I shall never buy another Sony product nor recommend it to anyone. They sell product that are meant only to last in the warranty period.

Sony support has very kind people. However if you have any request I was told to email SonySupportUSA@am.sony.com and got no responses from 10 emails. This was an expensive television and we purchased based on the outstanding reputation of the SONY name. We are very disappointed that a television manufactured by a brand like SONY would last less than 6 years. I've read many people have experienced the same issue and that it's related to a part called the T-con board. If anyone has been able to repair theirs be replacing this part, please let me know.

They kept the TV and after few hours informed that its LED panel needs to be replaced and the cost will be over Rs 21000. Before buying I was informed that the design life of panel is more than 100000 hrs. which means about 12 years of continuous running. It has not completed even 2% (less than 2000 hrs) of its life. It is evident that part had some manufacturing defect for which company should pay. I find that many other people are facing same issue as Sony is supplying inferior products in India. Unlike others on this board, my screen start out perfect and in one minute degrades to vertical ghostly lines. It is apparent that at Sony a whole line of middle executives failed, outsourcing the manufacture of these Trojan Horse TVs. They tried to save face, and all the way down the line as you read the abuse from corporate, policy was to stymie the customer. The right thing would be to engage the thug company to create an improved screen replacement, eat the loss, and service the tvs. I'm trying to imagine how much future business will be lost from this debacle. 06/23/2013, I apprehensively spent $7,147.19 for a Sony XBR-65X900A 65" 4K television from the Brandon Hhgregg brick and mortar store. I also purchase Sony's accompanying $699.00 4K storage and media player. I was under the belief that this television is sold with an 18-month factory parts and labor warranty. This will come into play a bit later.

On 08/02/2014 my Sonly XBR-65X900A would not turn on in the morning. My wife and I followed all of the recommended processes and procedures to re-initiate my television if and only if the problem was software related. It was not and continued to not work. So at this point I made the call to one of the Sony service assistance 1-800 numbers listed on-line. I made contact with a woman whose English was so poor that we both quickly became frustrated with the fruitless call.

I immediately called back and made contact with a gentleman whose English skills were very weak. However, I was able to pass on to him all of the pertinent information about my one-year-old $7000 Sony 65" 4K television. He claimed to have found where I had registered my television shortly after purchase. He also emphatically informed me that my television had a 12-month warranty and that I was one week past warranty. He told me that I needed to contact one of two Authorized Sony service facilities in my area.

I called Five Star TV service. Marlene ** at Five Star informed us that Javier would be sent to service our television. Javier removed the back from the big TV and began checking measurements on the boards, easily accessible from behind. He claimed that the problem was with the 2nd power supply board and that it needed to be replaced and this would definitely fix the TV. It was decided that it would be fastest if I find and acquire this power supply board on-line and then call him when it arrives. This is what I did. Javier installed the new board and the TV did not function at all.

Javier then began to ask for my hands on assistance when continuing to search for the actual problem. I found myself close enough to realize that Javier had only the most basic of electronic repair capabilities and was simply guessing at what to do next. He had me show him how to remove several computer type connectors from the main board of this television. After going back and forth trying to decide (he changed his mind several times), then Javier finally decided that I needed to purchase a main board replacement for this TV. By now I realized that he had absolutely NO business inside my television. I thanked him for his (fruitless) efforts and said goodbye. I did not order the main board.

By this time the date was 08/07/2014. I decided to call the Sony Service Number 239-768-7602 once more for any potential advice on what to do next. Keep in mind that every Sony assistance phone number eventually drills down to this phone bank. This time a man calling himself, Clark ** (this very foreign man was NOT born Clark **), answered the call. No doubt a Sony given name for Western purposes. "Clark" seemed quite upset with the very poor and incomplete notes taken by previous representatives on my case. At least half of them had simply hung up or left me on perpetual hold once they realized that their English communication skills were unsuitable, or they had no answers for me.

Clark ALSO quickly re-affirmed my understanding that my SONY XBR-65X900A television came with an 18- not a 12-month warranty and that my television was warranted until January 2015. Clark asked me to cease any further use of Five Star Service. He was going to put me on hold for several minutes while he cleaned up and updated my file. Clark returned with a reference # ** that I was to refer to pertaining to this Warranty service case. He told me that he would be assigning my case to a local contracted Sony service center to come out and fix my television. He said that someone from Sony should be contacting me the next day to give me the name of the company to service my television.

On 08/08/2014 10:00 AM a woman, "Jennifer" speaking badly broken English called my home. She informed me that she/Sony would be shipping two replacement boards to a local Brandon, Florida Fed Ex location where a service representative from HD repair/Syntechs would pick up these parts, then immediately contact me to set up a service appointment. She said that I should be patient as the parts would take between 3-5 business days to arrive. This woman gave me a phone number 1-800-638-9682 for contact with HD Repair if needed.

8/14/2014 We had heard nothing from the local service persons at HD Repair concerning our case. So I called and talked with Denedra at 10:AM. Denedra informed me that HD/Syntechs did indeed have a Sony Warranty service contract for my television. And that this case number is **. Denedra, Holey and the service technician, Marvin at HD Repair all agreed that there had been no parts from Sony delivered to Fed EX in Brandon, Florida as of 8/14/2014. She also (Denedra) verified that it was very unusual to have no tracking for Sony sent parts.

Either my wife or I called HD Repair every day from 8/4 -8/19 to see if they could determine a method to find out if Sony ever actually sent the parts that they claimed to have sent. She said that she would try, but so far nothing. On 8/15/2014 12:20 PM, I called the same service number back that had gotten me in contact with "Clark **" back on 8/7/2014. This time I spoke to a different forcing gentleman by the name of "Jay". I asked Jay to please review my case file so that I would not be forced to tell everything over again. He claimed that he saw NO record of any parts being sent to me, or on my behalf. He told me that he would send a urgent message to the persons responsible for sending the parts to contact me the next day. As usual with Sony promises, no one contacted me.

On 8/19/2014 at 11:25 AM, I decided to try and start the warranty service process all over again from scratch. I went to the official on-line site, **, and filled in my television's Model Number, Serial Number, my Zip Code, Date of Purchase. The end result is that the final page gives you a phone number to call that connects you with that same phone bank that Clark and Jay and Henry, etc... are manning. No matter what I have tried, I end up at the same exact place. Lots of promises and absolutely 0 follow through.

This time "IAN" picked up. Even though it was my wish and intention to start my Sony XBR-65X900A's service efforts from scratch, it was not long before Ian was able to associate my current service request with the existing yet worthless file. I was then forced to, once again, describe my entire frustrating story to yet another Sony character. Ian claimed that he would try and start my case over again. That I should be contacted via email by the same department that had told me that parts were being shipped and should be available for installation into my TV in 3-5 business days almost two weeks ago. This department should make contact within two business days.

Of course at the beginning of our conversation, Ian staunchly stated that my Television had only a 12-month warranty that had recently expired. I demanded that he take several moments to pull up, on-line, any one of Sony's Sales brochures about my XBR-65X900A television and look under "features". He quickly realized that it is an 18-month factory warranty and that my television has 6 month warranty remaining.

This television cost me over $7000 to purchase just one year ago. One month and one week after purchasing this expensive television, Sony dropped it's purchase price by $2,500. I contacted Sony expecting some compensation for such a dramatic price difference. Sony told me that if I had purchased this television within the one month grace period that they would reimburse the $2,500 difference. However, I had purchased my TV one month and one week prior. They offered me nothing.

Life goes on and I got over the price drop issue; however I never expected this very costly television to last only one year. And worse, to be begging for Sony to please, please repair my warranted $7000 television. To be a month into trying and trying to get my television repaired with absolutely "0" progress. And Sony has set up their service system to operate much as life insurance companies seem to. Their objective seems to be to do absolutely nothing and your only recourse takes you back to the same phone bank of people such as "Clark", "Jay", "Henry", "Ian", etc.... who are FAR more concerned about selling me/you an extended warranty than actually attempting to service my broken television that is still within its factory Sony warranty.

I could certainly use some help with my current broken Sony television situation. I have little doubt at this point that these savvy Sony people will drag my case beyond its factory warranty. And if my expensive Sony television nightmare can serve as a warning to others in the market for an expensive high end television, then that will be some solace for me.

I bought a Sony Bravia LED KDL EX520 in Sep 2011 thinking mainly of the reputation of Sony. To my utter dismay, the picture panel failed in June 2014. The service representative said that the cause could be voltage fluctuation or extreme heat etc. I have another Samsung LED Television in the house which had not shown any problems. The problem is obviously with the poor quality built into the product. I had two different brands of TV prior to this running for over a decade. This is complete negligence on the quality control of Sony and I have been told that I will have to shell out nearly another 400 USD to get the panel changed. This is extremely unjustified and this replacement will come with again 1 year warranty only. SO it is like subscribing to poor quality of Sony for every year of warranty. Please be aware of Sony Brand's likely failure whenever you purchase their brands.

We purchased a Sony Bravia 52 inch LCD TV at Christmas of 2010. It is 3 yrs and 8 mo old. Well to me that's not an old TV. In fact as much as Sony expects consumers to pay for their electronic devices I find it an outrage that a TV cannot last longer than almost 4 yrs. About 3 weeks ago when the TV is turned on you will get a black and white screen split into vertically. And then sometimes before the black and white screen comes on you also get red stripes and some green stripes. And I mean the picture is black and white split smack down the middle of the TV which is weird. I called Sony customer service and they advised me to call a service technician which we would be out of pocket for.

These TVs that people purchase from Sony should last a very long time and I don't understand why there isn't a class action lawsuit against Sony they obviously know that these TVs are not up to speed to where they should be. I mean just look at all these post on here how many Sony TVs are having the same problem they're breaking down between purchasing the unit up to 3 to 4 years later. This is very unjust that nothing has been done. We initially purchased a Sony TV after our old Sony gave out after we had it probably almost 20 years. That's how long that TV lasted. But the Sony TVs that they are making now the LEDs the LCDs and all the other electronics they are not up to par to what consumers are expecting from this company.

They are basically stealing hard earned money knowing that their electronics will not last and there should be a lawsuit against this. I want to know what lawyer is willing to take cases. I'll never purchase another Sony product ever again most likely it'll be a Samsung or LG. I've heard nothing but good things about them and their customer service. Sony has gone to the bottom of the barrel.

I purchased a new Sony 60" TV (model KDL-60NX720) from Best Buy in October, 2011. In June 2014 I was watching one evening and the TV just shut off. Then I noticed a small red light flashing on the front. It was blinking in a series of 4 blinks. This apparently is a diagnostic aid, telling the technician what the problem might be. Looking online, the flashing light in a series of four did not sound good. I took the TV to the local Sony recommended repair shop. For $40 they told me what I already feared, the TV was toast. An LED board was out, no replacement boards available. I was told that Sony does not make these boards, and apparently this one is no longer available.

I called Sony, again, and talked to a young man who admitted the the failure was a bit premature. I couldn't believe that my TV was just dead and ready for the recycling bin at the dump. I was seeking some kind of assurance one way or the other. Never could get it from Sony. The young man in customer service said he would send a 13% off certificate, but that it could only be used on the Sony website. I probably would never buy another Sony, but it doesn't matter, I never received the certificate. I own about 6 Sony TV's, plus DVD players, etc. I was always willing to pay a bit more for Sony. We have bought a 70 inch Sony Bravia last July 2013. Just over 8 months the TV just stop showing. We called Sony technical support and they said they will call us back within the next business day which they did. However, the offer that they are proposing was not to our expectation. They wanted to do an even exchange by giving us a refurbish TV. They said because it is over 30 days they can't give us a new TV. This is a manufacturer defect but here we have to compromise by taking a refurbish TV..... I think Sony sucks. I would advice everyone before you think about buying any electronics always look up to see the rating. This will definitely save you all the hassle and frustration that we are facing right now.

I moved into a freshly painted new apartment November 2008. In December 2008, for Christmas I purchased a Sony Bravia 40" TV with surround sound from Sears. The apartment developed a sickening toxic odor. I complained to the landlord but the problem remained unresolved. I broke my lease and moved out. I was sued by the landlord and had to pay $3700.00. I moved into another apartment and experienced toxic fumes again. I complained to the landlord, to the City and the State. I was often sick and was seen by doctors.

I finally moved out into a house with 3 floors, I hung the Sony Bravia over the fireplace and the same old toxic fumes returned. I had a chimney repairman replace the chimney lining for $1650.00 the fumes remained. I had the heat system repairman come out to inspect the heating system for $187.25. The heating system and the venting is excellent. The repairman smelled around the chimney and said "Smell your TV." He said, "this thing is hot enough to warm this room."

For the past 5 years I have lived with a defective Sony Bravia that have made me sick most of the time because the damn thing is smothering. I wrote to Sony and they told me how to reset the TV to factory setting. I happen to know that Sony recalled another model of the Bravia for this exact same problem. The sad thing is I had such reliance on Sony to not suspect their product. Well all that have changed. I am looking for another brand to take Sony's place, tired of being sick.

KDL 60 inch Bravia - The TV went blank after 13 months of very light use. Turned it on once or twice a week, mounted in my theater room only to watch movies. First the T-con board was bad. After taking it in to auth. repair guy 40 min drive from my house, it was fixed, paid by SONY. After setting it back up few weeks later, it would turn off after around 40 min of view. Talked to/emailed repair guy few times, he said 6 red blinks means bad panel. Well, what can I say about that? Apparently has nothing to do with his T-con board replacement. Back to calling SONY.

Bottom line, they offered me a similar 60" refurb for around $700 with 90 days warranty. I can go out and get a brand new Samsung 50" today for $600! How is SONY being fair about this? I paid $1600 for a TV that lasted a year and a half and now I'm sorry out of luck because the offer is not even decent. I'm so hurt, worst investment mistake ever!

So after 4 years of use...our household's only SONY Bravia (KDL-46V5100) has developed horizontal lines in the display. After speaking with a tech, it apparently is a very common problem with the models 2006 - 2009 (ours is a late 2009). Apparently, a part called the T-CON has gone bad and needs replacing. Upon contacting SONY, their best offer was 15% off a new purchase through them directly, or just referring us to an authorized repair shop (that I can look up myself). What a joke, SONY, you greedy fools. My LG's and Samsung's from 05-06' are hanging in there just fine. WILL NOT buy another SONY despite having a SONY Theatre sound system and a PS3/PS4. Good bye and good riddance.

Its really disappointed & thanks for saving my hard core Money. I'm done with Sony... Hello Samsung! Buyer beware: Sony is a dishonest company that clings like a vulture to its 1-year electronics warranty. There is no need to give Sony your business with plenty of superior brands available at considerably lower prices. Moreover, should one of these other brands break, their customer service managers likely will not treat you like garbage. Just "say no" to Sony. Hyper & Unsatisfied Customer.

I purchased a 55 inch Bravia a little over 3 years ago. It cost me about $1,600. 2/3 of the screen is now darker than the last 3rd. This really sucks because I have another Bravia TV which continues to work fine after 5 years. So I called Sony, they walked me through all their "fixes", none of which worked. Finally they determined that the TV was not working properly. DUH!!!! They gave me a number to call (Sony certified repair company). They also gave me two options: 1) pay to fix it myself or 2) take a 10% discount on a new Sony TV. They said that the TV was out of warranty (only support their products for 12 months).

One would think that a $1,600 TV would last longer. I argued my case but they said that since it's an electronic product (doesn't Sony only sell electronic products) that their offer of a 10% discount on a new TV was the best they could do. At this point, I got a little perturbed so they sent me to the next level. The next level said there was nothing they could do citing the same lines and offered me a 15% discount. Wow another 5%!!! Essentially I paid $1,600 to watch TV (a couple hours a night and sporadically on the weekends). So that comes out to about $400/year. What a deal.

I bought Sony Bravia 55 inch LED 3D Television in Oct 2011 from Croma, New Delhi, India. On 7th of January 14, I lodged a complaint with Sony India regarding display issues that I am facing currently. It is giving me distorted colors with green shadow. Sony engineer visited and asked to change the panel due to moisture issue. He told me that the price will be Rs. 10458. I have been online and saw that it is the common problem that your TV sets are facing and hence can be termed as a company defect. I have a LG and a Samsung and did not face any problem in the past 5 years with them.

Sony by its name is a brand and we consumers buy such expense products because of the brand name and the quality the company vouch but now I realized that when it comes to after sales service, quality and trust, Sony will be the worst brand. As of 15th January, I am getting my TV panel changed just because I have put in around 1.5 Lakh to buy this TV. However, My feedback to my friends and family and in the blogs will definitely be a big NO NO for any Sony products.

I purchased new ($2,400) and have had the Sony SXRD KDS-60A2000 60 inch HDTV for several years. Suddenly the picture turned a weird green cast. I ordered and replaced the OEM projection bulb but the build was not the problem? I called Sony to ask what's up and they told me there was a big class action lawsuit by owners of these same units and that Sony had contacted them and compensated them. I asked why I was not contacted since Sony had all my contact info from the original product registration and they "Oh so sorry. You're just out of luck. Nothing we can do."

After all the Sony products I have purchased of the last 40 years I expected more help, wouldn't you? I guess I can only express my dissatisfaction with their crappy or I should say non existent customer service by never even considering buying another of their products. I strongly suggest to save yourself the disappointment of the same kind of treatment.

I bought the TV 06/23/13 and I was cleaning a smudge off the left top corner with a microfiber cloth and later that evening decided to watch TV. When I turned it on the screen was black/white. Called ABC Warehouse, they expressed to me that it was under SONY Warranty. Called Sony, they referred me to an Authorized Repair place. I called the repair place, they said I needed a warranty number from SONY but most likely they will not validate the claim due to cracked screen. He recommend I call SONY and get a Warranty repair number.

I called SONY back and the lady asked the full details on what happened and had decided to replace the TV and for me to send back the damaged TV when I receive the new one. She took my credit card to place a $1.00 hold on it so that if I did not return the damaged TV, I would be charged the full cost of the TV and I should receive the new TV within 7-10 business days.

I had not received the new TV so I call and gave them claim #. The man on the other end proceeded to tell me that the review team has decided they are not validating the claim and I would not be received a new TV. I have owned SONY products for years. I have 4 other TVs that I have not had any problems with cleaning. This is the LAST SONY product I will ever buy because if you can't clean the screen without it cracking, there is a problem. Sony customer service does not follow thru with their claims as I was not informed that they were not processing my request until I called to find out where the new TV was.

We bought a Sony Bravia KDL55EX645 on December 3rd 2012. Just 9 months later, the sound went on it. I was positive it was a problem with our service provider not the TV; it was a SONY. After spending hours trying to get sound through the TV, the tech could only get sound through our BOSE speakers. Now, 3 months after that, we started to have green vertical lines on half of the screen, then the whole screen, then one night the screen went black. After 3 calls to SONY and 3 emails, we are waiting to hear from them.

The warranty expired on December 3rd 2013, about a week before the screen went. We didn't buy an extended warranty thinking it's a SONY; we won't need it! Now, we know the sound problem was also connected to the TV not the service provider. We didn't pay good money for a TV that worked for less than a year. As many others have said - after being faithful SONY product purchasers - we will never buy another one. It has been very frustrating not receiving any response from SONY on repairing this TV and going through Christmas without the movies and specials and no Junior Hockey!

I purchased a Sony Bravia KDL-46EX645 on 11/12/2012 for $940 from HH Greg. Today in the middle of the Capital One Bowl, the TV shut off and won't come back on. I immediately called Sony and they referred me to the website to do an "instant chat" with a tech as the "phone lines" we experiencing heavy call volume. I was told I'd need a new "power source board" and they referred me to another section of the website to find a local repair center. There is only one in my area and it's 15 miles away and the fact that the TV is out of warranty by 58 days that the cost would be my responsibility. This is my 3rd Sony TV and each and everyone has had issues in one way shape or form. I'm done with Sony...hello Samsung!
