Purchased Sony TV (XBR-65x930D) in November 2016. Paid Direct Buy to install the television set to make sure it was done correctly. The television set was at the high end of all the televisions available at the time at Best Buy. The picture was incredible so we decided to buy Sony. We decided not to purchase the Best Buy warranty because we were buying a Sony. Approximately 6 months after installing the television set it stopped working. It would not turn on. I contacted customer service. I was told to call back to talk to a technician to troubleshoot the problem.
Our son handled the call since we are not as techno as he is. An e-mail was sent to our son stating "Due to parts/service availability, we will not be able to complete the repairs on your television set. In lieu of repair, we can offer an advance exchange (Replacement)". I contacted the number in the e-mail. I had to give my credit card number before they would deliver a replacement.
I asked Sony about reimbursing me for the installation that I paid Best Buy. (It was approximately $200.00.) I thought they would want to make sure their customer was taken care of since we paid to make sure the television was installed properly. I was told that they would not pay to have the television installed. After this I received another e-mail from Sony, thanking me for contacting Sony. It was confirming what we discussed over the phone. This is where I was told I would be getting a recertified TV and a 90-day warranty. After a long heated conversation with the rep from Sony the 90-day warranty will be added to the remainder of my original warranty. I am so very disappointed in the handling of this situation. I will never purchase another Sony product. I plan on visiting Best Buy to let them know that they are selling an inferior product to their customers. If there is a class action suit brought against Sony, add my name to the list.

Have a Sony Wega with a DVD player built inside. Overall always liked Sony, watch either Hulu or Netflix on it, which I enjoy a lot, watch grandchild a lot, child learned a lot from watching these programs. They are cheaper than cable, and have more choices especially getting to watch older television shows. The TV I have is kinda older, I would like one with a smaller screen, though.

We would only have a Sony and this is the 6th Sony we have owned. Only bought new for a bigger size. Love the TV and have NEVER had any problems. To buy a Sony is to get more than what you pay for. The picture and performance has always been more than we expected.

This Sony TV broke 1 month after we got it. Finally it got repaired and broke again in a month. I find nothing special about this brand. It has lasted a long time after it was repaired that last time. Don't buy at Best Buy when you are buying this brand because they are awful to deal with it. I truly feel no brand should have a major part break twice in a 2 month period.

The television overall is a quality product. The picture quality is very good. I considered purchasing a sound bar at the time of purchase and was very pleased that I did not need one, the sound is excellent. The television is very slim and fits perfectly on my family room wall.

The Sony has been moved around at least 6 locations and the system responds beautifully. Going on 10 years old now. Great sounds and visual. You feel as if you are in a theater. The picture gives you the illusion as if you are there. I will be hunting for a new tv. However due to the retail on the Sonys. I will have to step down.

My Sony TV I spent $7,000.00 on and 2 years later, it died. Sony provided no help, no support. Horrible, horrible experience with many defective TVs. All new LCD and LED TV'S manufactured today are ALL horrible in the manner of lasting just over 1 year. I think all TV manufacturers should be forced to come with a 5-year factory warranty. This will force these crooks to build better TV's and not ** us the people, the customers. I think they do it on purpose. After all they are in business just to make money but there is a fine line not to cross and all of them crossed it. SHAME ON YOU ALL.

We have a brand new Sony XBR43X800D 43-Inch 4K Ultra HD TV. It has a great Android-based user interface that JUST WORKS! Easy to set up and use, well thought out screen arrangement. Supports the Uverse box directly, no need for programming a remote etc... Picture is perfect, very clear and upscales everything. Sound is good... Not great, but that's what headphones are for. It works so well, bought a second one already for another bedroom.

We decided to treat ourselves to an up-to-date top of the range Bravia 4K HD TV and naively thought that Sony was the best - and the salesman seemed to believe this was so! We soon encountered problems with delayed switch on and delayed channel change, loss of programme and loss of sound, failure to connect to catch up services, major issues with You-View etc, etc. As 4K, HD, catch-up and Android were all new to us we just thought we were doing something wrong but finally contacted the service company we had paid extra for. They had no idea how to help and we wasted days trying to talk to someone that knew what they were talking about and although they eventually offered a visit no one turned up.
So we contacted Sony and they were even more useless - a total waste of time and breath while they denied having no knowledge of anyone having similar issues (look on the internet I advised!!!). A couple of updates later Sony tried to update the OS but when we tried to install we got a message saying that there was a problem with the update and we should await a revised version. This was finally released about four months later (by which time our guarantee had run out of course) but this was the moment we were waiting for - we thought! All would soon be a ok!!! Laugh!!! After installation some problems went away - but more arrived to replace them - even more hang-ups, delays, loss of picture, etc, etc. We are going to throw this 15 month old TV out and get another but Sony won't get a look in. Any credibility the brand once had has been blown away for us, our family and friends...

I purchased a SONY BRAVIA 60 Inch smart TV model KDL60W610B on August 15, 2016. The TV stopped working May 25, 2017. The TV wouldn't turn on and a red LED indicator light kept flashing at the bottom of the screen. I looked the potential issues in the troubleshooting section of the manual that came with the TV. I performed all the steps in the manual but the issue was not resolved. Was then advised to contact SONY Customer Support.
I went to the appropriate area of the website and was ultimately computer 'chatting' with a Customer Service Rep. The Rep had me repeat the procedures I had already performed with the same result. Was directed to call SONY Customer Support. Was on the phone for 45 minutes with this SONY rep and went through the same disconnect procedures for the third time. Eventually was told that defective TV would be replaced.
I was told to email pictures of the full front view of the TV, the model information on back of the TV, the red LED indicator light at mid-blink, and the proof of purchase receipt. The Rep advised me that the defective TV would be replaced by a refurbished TV which I thought was unfair. The Rep then asked for my credit card info in case the defective TV was not sent back to SONY. The Rep asked me if I still had the box this 60 inch TV had come in to which I responded "Of course not". If the TV was not shipped back when the replacement was delivered I was told I would be charged for the replacement TV. I was furious by now and told the Rep that I would not give out my credit card information.
Finally I was told that as an alternative when the refurbished TV was delivered I was required to be home so that the defective TV could be taken by the delivery company at the same time. During this telephone exchange I learned that even though I purchased a three year extended warranty SONY was only responsible for one year. Years two and three were Walmart's problem. I was also told that even though I would be given a refurbished TV that SONY would not extend the original one year they were responsible for. I was finally contacted by the delivery company was told that a new TV would be delivered between 8AM and 8PM on June 7, 2017. I would much rather have a refund so I could buy another brand because I will never again purchase any SONY electronics.

Here is a letter that I sent to the CEO explaining my dissatisfaction - at no time have Sony offered to come and look at the problem first hand. They always repeat that this is within tolerance. I made a video of the problem which can be seen at **. The Sony user forum has instances of other people with the same problem.
As a loyal customer of Sony equipment, it is with regret that my most recent purchase will be my last. Over the years (40 or more) I have owned Sony Audio equipment, a Vaio laptop and 3 Bravia Televisions. It is the last one that has made up my mind to look elsewhere in the future. The set in question is a KD49X8309CBU which I purchased from the Sony Centre in Milton Keynes in September 2016. I chose it for many reasons including: Larger screen to assist both my wife's and my own ability to read on-screen text, Added quality of picture that 4K promises, Android for the flexibility, Previous Sony experience, 5 year warranty.
Generally the TV does what it promises, however after a few weeks I became aware of a vertical banding issue particularly in green backgrounds of sporting events such as football and snooker. As the cameras pan from side to side the banding has become very distracting. Regular live TV and films etc do not suffer from this effect as the background is rarely static and therefore the banding is not noticed.
I contacted Sony support and was given reference number ** followed by telephone advice to perform various picture setting adjustments. None of these helped and I was then advised to perform a factory reset. This did not improve either. I was asked to send an image to support showing the problem and was informed that the set is within tolerance. By making further adjustments to the picture settings I have been living with the problem ever since.
Recently I had a Sky engineer attend on a support call and he remarked firstly on the good picture and then he noticed the banding and said that once seen he would have trouble living with that. Another visitor in seeing this told me that he was in the market for a new 4K TV and based on what he saw would not be looking at Sony. He purchased a Samsung 4K which has a very clean picture.
I contacted Sony Support again via Facebook and again was asked to supply an image. I did better than that and supplied a video of a green JPG image which clearly shows the banding. Again your support staff have advised that the banding is within tolerance. I have asked for how the tolerance is measured but this information seems to be difficult to supply.
When I purchased the TV the Sony Centre had this model on display (in showroom demo mode) and after quite a long informative discussion with the salesperson, we agreed to purchase one. Had the salesman told me that the specifications included banding within tolerance, I think I would have taken time to think about it and perhaps research the problem.
I have since researched the problem on various user forums and it appears to be quite a common problem with this range of TVs and there seems to be a mix of experiences where Sony have either replaced the set with a similar model that has no banding or has advised their customers that there is nothing they can do. I do receive regular emails from Sony advising me of the latest products which include 4K TVs, each one claiming to be the best in picture quality. Never once have I seen any information on how to negate vertical banding.
On the plus side, your support staff have been polite and have done all they are capable of, and the TV is good in all other aspects. However, this experience has made me think long and hard about my next purchase, which will be some time off as I am stuck with this problem for quite a few years now. I find this disappointing as Sony has always had such a good reputation and image and trust that you accept these comments as constructive criticism.

Their first solution, after running a diagnostic, that it needed repair and the part was being ordered. A few days later, they called back to say that the part is out of stock and will take long to arrive so the next best solution was to offer me a refurbished, re-certified television. I escalated the issue to customer relations, but they constantly apologized and kept reading policies to me like moronic robots. It's absolutely ridiculous that a brand new TV and less than 4 months of the purchase date has suddenly stopped working and the only solution is to provide a mediocre, "refurbished" (someone else's garbage) TV!!
After tiring me out, I agreed to receive their secondhand litter, they had the nerve to ask me for my credit card number to ensure that I return the dead television that I have in my possession. I absolutely did not provide them with it and they said they have to go another route. I'm now waiting with bated breath for this "new and improved" TV to arrive! It's unfortunate that we live in world where these big companies can get away with this kind of treatment of their consumer.

I kept calling and they told me that I needed to just keep rebooting the TV in order to get it to work, and that there is nothing else that they could do until further updates resolve the issues. We were rebooting on a daily basis.
Finally some of the resolution options no longer worked and the TV became nearly unusable. When I called back they told me that the warranty had run out. I pointed out that I had a previous history of issues and was told they would be addressed. They found the history but told me that there was nothing they intended to do about it. I bought a 65" 930c from a well known large retailer with the expectation (and sales associates assurance) it would last 5 years or 100,000 hours. The TV didn't make it 100 hours before it failed. Sony actually sent a tech and validated the latest failure and in the process of this validation the warranty expired. They had the gall to tell me they were not going to offer any assistance to repair or replace. Sony customer support and service is an absolute joke. They use deceptive sales techniques and with their in store sales reps, they state the anticipated longevity of their products which in IL is constitutes an implied warranty and should then extend their factory warranty to 4 years.
A class action suit should be filed to address and punish any company actively and WILLFULLY HARMING customers. In January 2016 I bought a Sony KDL 450 C TV because it had decent reviews but only after 3 months a white shadow appeared on the left side of the screen. I called Sony customer service and they asked me to send them a black/menu picture through email. Actually I sent them 3 pictures showing the white shadow. Sony technical department answer was that based on the pictures the TV works as it should. I called them letting them know that it is impossible. So I took the TV at the local Sony service partner where they said they need to change the TV because the display is faulty. Ok, after one week Sony service exchanged the TV to a factory new TV as they stated.
The TV was nothing but factory new. It was a far worse one that had 7 bad pixels and scratches all over. So I took it back next day. After another two weeks I received a decent TV but 7 months older and different series. That said Sony under warranty exchanges your TV to factory rebuilt one from used parts. Basically the factory where these TVs are repaired is a chop shop. The TV you get is somebody else's repaired TV and has nothing to do with...NEW. When I called Sony Customer Service they actually refused to help me even when the TV was at their repair center telling me that they can only help if I have the TV. So Sony means nothing today. Is just another dying brand with no real factory warranty!!!

We're on our second Sony Bravia TV. We moved the older 46" TV, purchased in 2010, to the bedroom when we bought the new Sony Bravia LCD 60" smart TV in 2014. It was not purchased at a big box store. We did purchase the extended warranty with both TVs but never had to use it. One of the main reasons we bought the Sony Bravia was the sound is very good without adding a sound bar. The color and sharpness is good, too. The other reason, Sony was more reasonably priced. We now want a 70-75" TV for the living room and will move the 60" TV to the bedroom when that time comes.

I own a Sony Bravia Model No KLV32BX350 LCD TV purchased on April 2013. After 3 years 6 months of usage the picture quality drastically came down with dual pictures and green color. I approached one of the authorized service stations at Dhaka Sony Rangs (Banglamotor). Without inspecting the TV properly they advised the panel replacement of the TV which costs around Rs 16000 to close to 50% of the cost of TV. They are not even bothered to give me the reason for the damage whether it is because of any error from my side or it is a manufacturing/technical problem. Their attitude is so adamant like I don’t have any choice but to pay them the money or throw away your LCD. :-(
I felt like I did the biggest mistake in my life trusting well-known brand like Sony which have a lifespan of only 3 years 6 months. Please advise with this mind sir why should I invest more 16,000 in Sony or why shouldn't I add another 10,000 to get another TV (maybe a lesser branded...) Because I am not seeing any advantage in being with Sony anymore neither technical advantage nor better customer service. Shame on you guys... An unsatisfied customer.

I bought a SONY Bravia TV in September 2015. It is the worst TV I have ever owned. The "Smart" operating system comes up with some new problem every day until the Android updates totally destroy the entire TV. I called customer service and their answer was my TV is no longer under warranty. Yet it was rendered utterly useless by one of SONY's own Android updates. Once that warranty runs out I guess they figure they have the right to tell you it's your problem even though they broke the TV with an update that was installed after the warranty had run out.
Solution! Buy a ROKU put it in an HDMI input and have a much better TV than it ever was before. These TVs work much better with ROKU as far as I am concerned and none of the endless, mindless problems. If you have a SONY Playstation get rid of it and switch to the Microsoft X-Box. I can't believe I would recommend Microsoft for anything but they are way better than what SONY has become. I think they are milking their reputation for quality with absolute crap defective software across the board. Just a humble old man's opinion. How do you like those apples Rajib?

I noticed that the replacement TV they sent was not a new TV, it was a used TV. When I called SONY they would do nothing about this as they claim the used TV was only good for 90 days. People should be aware that SONY does not replace its TVs with new TVs when they break down during the warranty. You get a used TV with a short warranty. I will certainly never buy another SONY product. If I had known this was their warranty policy I would have bought a different brand.

I think Sony is only cashing in on its reputation. The delivery guy who just delivered my second replacement for XBR65X930D 4K in 9 months said Sony quality has gone down drastically in the past 2 years. The guy said they are replacing Sony televisions everyday since last year. I bought Sony XBR65X930D in April last year (2016). Within 3 months two horizontal white lines started appearing on the screen end to end. I called up the store. Within seconds they agreed to replace the TV as if they knew it was going to fail. The replacement TV got delivered in August.
Again on Jan 10th this year (2017) the panel failed displaying vertical colored lines all over the screen. I called up Sony they asked me to send photographs and immediately arranged to send a replacement TV within 15 days. As if Sony knows that these problems are going to occur. Also I was strongly told that I will not get any extension to my warranty period. So now I am stuck with the original 1 year warranty with only three months to go and I have my second replacement which I don't know when it will fail. Sony TV's panels are of worst quality. DON'T BUY SONY ANYMORE. If you do don't forget to get an extended warranty for at least additional 2 years.

I purchased a $5000 home 75 inch TV and sound bar theatre system installed on 12-22-2015 by Best Buy with a 4 year extended warranty. I called the installer Best Buy to see why the unit sound was crackling In 11-05-16. The BB staff came out and said that the speakers were blown in the sound bar. They stated they couldn't do the repairs for the sound bar at my home but did remove it for me to take it to the store myself to have it repaired. The repair company Best Buy Depot called me and said the unit was not the problem but could possibly be the HDMI cable that came with the sound bar or TV HDMI inlet. When I asked the BB at Geek office they said, "You would have to ask the Sony people for the cord."
The cord was under warranty when they were called out originally but the lack of the repair staff to resolve the issue in November on the first call by BB a Sony Rep they told me the $20 HDMI cable wasn't covered because the sound bar wasn't under warranty by Sony after the one year warranty even though the problem existed before expiration was reported to BB on a $5000 entertainment center.
It's sad that the electronic industry is screwing the customers in this country nowadays. My last Sony lasted and is still in use 17 years after purchase and we still like this one. A simple gesture to send a $20 piece of wire would of prevented this review. Especially if the warranty dept would of understood this was a issue way before it was out of warranty.

Then contacted Sony to the following number; 1-866-766-9272, spoke with Frank. Told Frank my story, he proceeded to walk me through a software update. I explained to him I could not. SONY KDL32W600D 32" TV - I bought this TV at Best Buy in August 2016. TV worked fine until this morning. I had purchased an extended warranty at Best Buy so I called the Geek Squad for support. After 3 different transfers I was told that as the TV was still under warranty so I had to deal with Sony. The agent transferred me to Sony but to repairs not support. After some time on hold I spoke to a man from South America who had great difficulty communicating with me. After 30 minutes I was transferred to another more senior tech person who had me do all the same things as the other guy plus a few more without resolving the problem. I had asked at the beginning for a tech support house call but was denied. Finally the second guy said that it was clear that my TV was not going to work so as it was cheap I.e. under $500 they would replace it. The order would take 7-10 days. I could not go back to Best Buy to get another one. They had to ship it to me.
As it turns out I am going south for 2 months so I would not be here when it would arrive. I asked to delay the shipping until the end of March when I would be back. Alas this request was too complicated for Sony to handle. The only option was for me to call them in 2 months when I return to go through the story again and get them to refer to my file and then they would order the TV for me. I wasted 90 minutes today and I suspect will have to waste another considerable amount of time in March to get the TV replacement. Sony clearly does not value its customers time. I should have bought from a different company.

That TV randomly shut down of its own accord. Sent back and got a replacement. The replacement has dark semi-circular blemishes (about ~ 8 sq inches), so that is being sent back for a same model replacement. I.e. I have now had three malfunctioning "new" Sony TVs in the past 6 months, and am awaiting a fourth. This is in stark contrast to a Sony Bravia TV that has functioned beautifully for the past 13 years. I purchased a sony XBR 75x850c 4k 3D ultra TV September 2015. It was installed November 2015 by the recommended agent with new accessories. I was referred to a specific cable carrier that offered services to accommodate all of the features of the unit. After multiple attempts and trouble shooting with Sony customer service the unit would not function as described. I was told the problem was with my cable carrier or my receiver. DirecTV had their installation technician with a supervisor verify that all HDMI cables were compatible (ultra 4k) and connected to the correct inputs. The TV failed to operate in its illustrated function (4k) instead notifications continued to display "this TV does not support 4k service".
The default was then directed to my receiver (Onkyo tx nr 3030) which was recommended for this TV. Onkyo tech service failed at every attempt to find fault in the unit from trouble shooting and recommended I send it in which I did twice, at this point the TV is rapidly losing its functions. Sony customer service told me I couldn't expect a full functioning unit. A software update was completed that was currently in process for this specific model and they couldn't tell me exactly when that would be. There was a notification on the TV indicating software update would be initiated after 12/2016.
I called customer service 01/04/2017 inquiring about the update and they requested proof of purchase, I received an email confirming receipt of proof of purchase when I called to follow up in search of an anticipated time frame of this alleged system update. I was told to send the unit to a service center and since the warranty by now had expired they would participate in the cost of repairs. The TV never functioned properly after installation nor was it referred to go to service after trouble shooting and tech service was unsuccessful, nor was a Sony tech sent out for an evaluation.
After speaking with the service repair center and conducting over the phone trouble shooting he immediately determined that my HDMI control board was bad for starters which would prohibit 4k functions that was unsuccessfully attempted after installation and the part was extremely expensive. He also informed me that Sony has never (with his company) done a warranty claim on a HDMI control board. They would exchange the unit which suggest that there have been multiple HDMI control board issues with this model. Research confirms that HDMI control boards have no history with early issues on other models.
This unit has been discontinued. I was further told by the sales man this was a 75" TV as I requested however the receipt I was sent from Best Buy 7600 cicero, Il 02/02/2016 indicates 70". In an attempt to add my receipt I get a "file type not allowed " error message. The order number is not identified on my receipt only the delivery order number. I am limited to forwarding the receipt via email. I welcome any response and appreciate any direction offered.

They will not reimburse me for the cost of hiring someone to install this part to see if it will restore power to my television. My TV is wall mounted with all cords connected to a surge protector in a very heavy media console. I am a 68 year old female, unable to replace this adapter myself. Further, there is no guarantee that a new adapter will work. What sort of warranty service is this? What sort of company is this?
My son's 70" Sony TV (now discontinued) had a warranty problem during the past couple years that resulted in Sony paying $4,000 to buy back his TV. He was required to sign a non-disclosure agreement. I have bought the TV for the amount of Rs. 85000/- in November 2013 but recently the screen panel is shut down on its own. The product has never been mishandled or it has never gone through any external impact and one day it stopped working. On contacting the service centre and Sony management through their mail sonyindia.care@ap.sony.com they are suggesting to pay Rs. 30000 to just repair the product which is more than 1/3 rd of the cost of TV. In that much amount I can buy a new TV of other good brands also. But the issue is that with no fault at our sides, the so called branded Sony Bravia is of no help and it is just shirking off their responsibilities as the product is definitely having a manufacturing defect.
I have read many of the complaints regarding the same product on internet. Sony is now just spending a lot of money on advertisements and marketing, if it would have just spent a third of this money in improving its technology and providing better consumer satisfaction, it would be good for the company but unfortunately, the company is surely going down and of no use. In fact I think instead of spending that much money on just repair of a dumb box which has no guarantee that it will work for even 1 day or 2, I should just resell it and buy a new one of other brands. The experience with Sony was so pathetic and frustrating and I would definitely suggest all the people that never go for Sony products, as they just not worth it and also there are a lot of manufacturing defects in their products.

Smart 4K TV 55" XBR-55X700D - Upon receipt of my new TV, I discovered two things. #1 Sony infrastructure was not set up to support the new model yet. The TV searched and searched for software updates it could not reach. After 2-3 people on the customer support line, I learned the Sony server to provide that was not even set up yet. Plus I could not register the TV online for warranty purposes, because the new model was not available as a choice to register... nor could I enter the model number manually.
I was instructed to download the update online to my laptop, unzip the file, move it to a thumb drive, plug the thumb drive into the back of the TV and update that way. The TV would not recognize my thumb drive, which was a 32GB. I was then instructed to use no bigger than a 4GB thumb drive. I had to buy this before I could proceed. SO, two days later, the TV did indeed recognize the smaller drive and the software was able to be updated. Hopefully the automatic updates the TV looks for on an non-existent server will have something to actually look at soon. Selling a product before all the support infrastructure was in place was just dumb.
#2 Screen defect. There was a section along the left side of the screen about 5" down the side of the screen x 1" into the picture. This defect looked like a flashlight was shining onto the screen which completely washed out any picture or color. It was very distracting during darker scenes or displays on the TV. I sent pictures to Customer Support as asked. I was told they reviewed the pictures and engineering determined that the TV was "working within specifications". Really... they specify a defect like that is AOK? Wow. Luckily I bought this TV through Amazon. On all the paperwork with the TV it says NOT to contact the seller of the TV with issues, to contact Sony. Well, Sony not only sold a defective product, they said it was OK and that was it. Amazon stepped up and replaced the TV. They can deal with Sony.
If given a choice, I will NEVER use a Sony product again. Quality and customer satisfaction are not what they focus on. I will say that Sony's response was fast and their techs were friendly. Past that, they get a giant fail. There is no excuse for a brand new product having flaws like this and on top of it for Sony to not make it right. Again, this review is about SONY'S FAIL. The seller Amazon was awesome.

What is purpose of buying such an expensive TV when it cannot last for a longer period. I feel that this is a design fault and have seen many complaints on this product. My recommendation is not to touch Sony products ever.

I will never buy a Sony product again, the customer service is terrible. I have a problem with my new 70 inch TV shutting off. I called the service number and was told to hook up the IR blaster and that my problem would stop. (It did not.) I thought my problem was my cable box, after getting a new one my problem slowed for a while but did not go away. It started to get worse. Knowing my 1 year warranty was coming up I called the service dept. to get this problem resolved. After running through some test, I was told that I was covered and this would be taken care off. I was to wait for a e-mail from a repairman, to set up a time for evaluation. The next day I got a e-mail from Sony stating my warranty was up.
I called customer service again the next day, and that's when it started, I was put on hold for 30 min then it went to dial tone. I called back. Explained what had happened to me. I was assured this would be taken care off again. I was to wait for a e-mail from the repairman. The next day I got another e-mail from Sony stating my TV was out of warranty. At this point I am getting upset, I called back again and explained what has happened to me. I again was put on hold for over a hour. After calling back on another line I was told that dept. went home two hours ago! At this point I am asking for names and employee numbers. On several occasions I was denied.
I had asked to speak with a manager. I was told I have to remove my TV from the wall and take it to a certified Sony repair shop. I had explained I do not have time, or a box to put this TV in or a vehicle to haul it to a repair shop. I had explained it was delivered by two men and a truck. Unhappy with this solution. I called back trying to get someone different to help me, I was put on hold again and was transferred to play station troubleshooting.
At this point I am feeling very frustrated, I can not believe what has been happening to me. After cooling down and feeling helpless, I called back and was told, go online and find a certified Sony repair shop in my area and to take my TV there to be evaluated. I had asked who is going to pay for this evaluation, I was told that would be worked out. I went online to find a repair shop. There is only one in my area, one and a Half hours away, and they are only open Monday through Friday. The repairman says do not bring this TV to him. He needs a authorization from Sony to pay for this evaluation. I am still waiting for this problem to be resolved. Beware of the words. STAY ON THE LINE!

It works a while then that sound started kicking out again. Contacted Sony and they walked me through downloading programs. I am near computer illiterate first class ability to Sony techs at walking me through that. Worked for a while then kicked in and out again. Contacted Telus. I have purchased a Sony TV in January 2013 and it has only been 3 years and the television has started giving us terrible troubles. My Tv is a Sony KLV - 40EX430, Serial no - 3256859, CCC ID: 33003620. First we had noticed that the TV was switching on and then switching off immediately afterwards and the red link was blinking 6 times, to which I called your customer care and they were obviously aware of this issue and took a request complaint after which they sent a technician G. ** who looked at the tv set and said that it could be a panel problem and said that there was a backlight error problem and we need to replace the panel for Rs 9000.
So after that we had assumed that there would be no issues, but alas, I have started facing the same red light blinking 6 times again. We called the customer care and booked a complaint and the same ** person has told me that I would be required to spend another 22000 approximately to get this issue resolved. I had made a request to talk to a senior manager in the service department to Mr ** and unfortunately no one has returned my call yet.
On further research across the internet and YouTube, this red light backlight error seems to be a common error for many consumers of Sony and the earliest complaint that I could see was from 2008. It is appalling to see that a company like Sony, which is perceived as a great brand in India does very little to its technical faults and continues to sell these televisions in the market. I have looked up on YouTube as well and would like to register a formal complaint against Sony for not having resolved this issues in the last 8 years.
There are many low cost tips on how this can be resolved available on the internet, however they are very technical and not something that can be done locally by every consumer. I would like to know if there is a solution to this problem and will my TV be repaired or should I like many other consumers abandon my association with Sony and never recommend this to any other consumer or distributor?? I would like to talk to the senior manager of service to figure out the solution to my problem! I am hoping that somoene in the organization would have time to talk to a consumer or I would make sure that social media and everyone on my network never buys a sony product again. Expecting a response and a resolution!

We specified to purchase the Sony 52 inches Bravia LCD TV because of its name even though the price is higher than other brands. We thought it will last longer and better. Wrong. Starting 2 years ago, it requires "warm up" before the picture came on clearly. In the beginning, the WARM UP time is 5 min, then 10 and grew to 30 mins before actually watching TV. I think it's ridiculous. Now, even with warm up, the screen blinks and glare a lot while watch. I think it's bad for eyes. According to internet post, a LCD tv should last at least 16 years (60,000 hours) of usage. My last 8 years/6 years (while warm up started required). I will try to contact Sony, but the chances is slim according to some people's complaint. Very disappointed, SONY failed us, SONY is not good any more.

This TV has been NOTHING BUT FRUSTRATION from day one! First off, it had a major issue with my brand new TWC Aries Enhanced DVR where if you powered off the TV and then turned it back on there was NO audio. Sony support said it was Aries' problem to fix and TWC said it was Sony's problem to fix and in the meantime, every time I powered off the TV I had to finagle around to the back of the TV and unplug the HDMI cable connecting the DVR to the TV, wait for the TV to detect the cable was unplugged with a "no signal" message and plug it back in and voila, sound! Very Frustrating!
The last Sony firmware update on 7/06/2016 caused me to lose a paid for subscription streaming channel under Sony Select. The channel was simply gone as was the "More Apps" group it was found under. Therefore, I had to cancel my paid subscription. Very Frustrating! This TV WILL NOT stream from any Internet input to completion and takes roughly 3 hours to watch a 1.5 hour movie as it consistently reboots in the middle of the movie and returns to the 'Home' screen. Very Frustrating!
And then going back to your movie and attempting to fast-forwarding back to the spot where the TV rebooted is PAINFULLY SLOW as you have to HOLD DOWN the fast-forward button until you get there which drains the AAA batteries in the remote control; which btw should have been engineered with AA batteries not AAA, and then when you get to the spot in the movie where you were so rudely kicked out of, it may or may not start playing, more consistently not playing the movie at that spot but yet 'HUNG' and you can click play, pause all day long and nothing happens! Very Frustrating! When the volume button is pressed the entire screen brightens until the on-screen volume indicator goes off then the entire screen dims back to where it was and the TV's brightness is set to MAX, so how can it even get brighter anyway? Very frustrating!
I contacted the supposedly Sony "Dealer" who indicated they wouldn't take the TV back as I already had the TV past the return period and informed me to go to Sony Support! Very Frustrating! I've spent countless hours with Sony Support and had dismal results! Very Frustrating! After 4 months of use and 3 software updates this TV is worse now than it was with no updates!
I have been purchasing Sony products for 35 years and accepted paying the premium Sony prices as I've always had fantastic results with Sony equipment, until now which I am extremely disappointed. My speculation is the problem with this TV is Sony teaming up with Google as it is a Google Android OS, however, NOWHERE on the Sony box is Google's name in addition to the ad where I purchased the TV did not list Google's name so I paid no attention to the Android OS since it is an open source OS. I thought Sony may have tweaked the Android OS for their product. NOT!
In addition to these serious problems, the Bluetooth on this TV doesn't even support a pair of high-dollar Sony BT headphones! What a JOKE! So, you pay big bucks for a Sony product and it turns out to be GARBAGE. What's a consumer to do? I'll tell you what I'm going to do, NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER SONY PRODUCT AGAIN!

It would do this regularly. I bought it at Best Buy. I went to them regarding the problem since I had the TV for less than 5 months. They told me it was Sony that had to take care of it. I called customer service. They got inside my TV and told me there was an update. The TV is on auto update, but they kept insisting that next month it would be an update. For 4 months they been saying that. Then the TV started to black out and it would have (Internet browser will be closed due to internal error).
Customer service kept telling me wait for an update. This went on for another 2 months. Finally they send a repairman out with new board. He put it in and the TV was fried. He called customer service and they told him they were going to replace it. It's now July 2016 and still waiting. It has been an absolute nightmare. I'm paying for a TV that does not work. They have offered me a TV that is used. I refused. I paid almost 3,000.00 dollars for my TV and they offered a used one that is on the marked down for 2,399.00
So I asked for my money back. They don't want to pay back my taxes. I told them they had to pay back the taxes. They told me they have to pick up my TV before they give me the money. Between all of this there has been numerous amount of hours on the phone, days of worked missed for repairman, hours of work missed for phone. Called and no solution. The hassle and headache this has caused me you really can't put it into words. I have even offered to pay for the difference but their difference is more than double. The price I paid for mine put together is more than what Best Buy is selling for a new model for this year. That's when I asked for my money back. It's been a great system up to the last several weeks because it will at some point stop shutting itself off and operate as it should, unless by now something has gone completely out, and based on other reviews I've read here, there are no replacement parts available for televisions that are over 5 years old.

As of today our XBR55X8010C Bravaria UHDTV has been out of commission for six weeks with no hope in sight. Beautiful picture but six weeks after purchase from BB it goes dead. I know, these things happen. Since BB only has 15 day exchange policy we have to go to Sony for repair. This all started on a Saturday. After a 25 minute phone call proving that the TV is actually plugged into the wall and that it is really dead, they write up a service order.
On Monday I get an email stating that the work has been subbed out to a company for repair and that a replacement board (static recovery board) will be sent. The very competent tech arrives (who was apparently a sub-contractor to the contractor) on Friday and installs the board. Still dead. The tech says Sony ordered the wrong part and that they will have to send the correct one. He called Sony on the spot and told them about the problem. Monday, I call the tech and he said they are waiting for a new repair order from Sony.
I then call Sony and they say no one has reviewed my case yet and someone will send me an email. No email arrives on Monday. Tuesday afternoon (this is now 9 days since it went belly up) I get an email from Sony telling me that the part is not available and they will have to replace the TV as long as I can provide proof of purchase. So now, they are going to send out another TV by carrier and pick up the old one. My first issue is that Sony made a judgement over the phone of what caused the problem with the TV and didn't send enough parts. The second issue is that they don't have the part? In a current production TV?
About 10 days later a replacement TV shows up with what was supposed to be the "white glove treatment". They must have been handling it with boxing gloves because the screen had a nasty crack across it. So, I refuse the delivery and the trucking company takes it back. I immediately contact Sony and they tell me when they receive verification from the trucking company they will begin an exchange. I tried to get them to call the truckers directly, but they said no, they have to wait until the shipper contacts Sony.
Another nine days later I contact Sony again and still no verification from the shipper that the TV was returned. I raise holy hell and get a supervisor. Again I ask for a refund. The supervisor gives me two choices; I can request a special refund, which gets submitted to a special review board and takes a week. If the refund is approved it takes 4-6 weeks for them to cut a check. The second choice, to continue on the path we are on and try and expedite another exchange. Naturally I heard nothing. I have requested a refund several times but Sony refuses.
There are so many more calls and details that I could spend an hour here listing them all. I'm really disappointed in what used to be a great brand. While the customer service provide plenty of empathy, they are terrible at resolving the problem. Right now I am trying to figure out how to file a small claims action against Sony. Maybe I should sue BB because they sold me the defective set and they have a location here in my county.

So we only had the TV for 5 months and already experiencing issues.
We contacted Sony's Customer Service representative and went through a series of troubleshooting procedures. I sent this information to them on 4/25/16 at: stvsp@am.sony.com.
I got an immediate email back saying Sony will contact me in two days. I got a call today from Sony, and they now want the Best Buy technician's report. I informed them that I will send it their way, but what about my TV warranty? The Sony rep indicated that they will not do anything until I send them the report. I asked several times what 5 blinks mean (having already looked it up) and they wouldn't say so. Unfortunately we have a TV hutch that will not accommodate greater than 40". Sony then located a new 40" model and had it delivered to our door. The delivery people set up the replacement Bravia for us and carted away the older model. We have had our newer model Bravia for about four years and continue to be favourably impressed with it. We have never before or since experienced such corporate responsibility. Bravo Sony!

We have had our LCD Sony Bravia television probably 8 years or so. It has gone through almost daily performance and even through one major move across the country and yet performs as well as the day we first plugged it in. That said, being an older model it doesn't have the features we would like to have. When/if we are in the market for a new one we will look for those features in another television. Although we love our Sony, if the price variations as wide as they were when we purchased this unit (with Sony being frankly one of if not THE most expensive) we will go to another brand. The quality is outstanding but the price will rank high with us now that we are on a fixed income.

I purchased a Sony Bravia TV and was at first absolutely loving the TV. Then out of the blue the TV started shutting itself off. Called Sony, they said to try the hard reset with everything unhooked from the TV. That did not work. They tried to first blame it on something I had hooked to the TV then they said a local channel was emitting surge signals causing the problem.
My Sony Bravia still sits here unrepaired because Sony blamed everyone else so they wouldn't honor the warranty. I ended up getting a used projection TV (Sony), the lamp has went out on it. I am now at a crossroads because I am ready to buy a new TV and I love Sony when they work but God help you when they don't so I'm scared to buy a Sony. Many other brands have issues too. I have been online all morning doing research and ended up at this site. I wish Sony would have been a stand-up company and supported their customers because then this decision would be a no-brainer.

Purchased a Sony Bravia flat screen TV Model #KDL-52V5100 Serial # 8067713 in 2010. Have used normally for a family of 4, wall mounted. Suddenly getting bars across screen in last month. Repairman out, took TV and discovered that LCD panel needed to be replaced. Part is no longer being made (after 5 years?). When contacted Sony at 800-222-SONY I was told by "Oscar" that he could not help me and would not/could not get me to anyone higher up, despite my asking to speak with his supervisor/manager. Have been on all websites linked to Sony and have been unable to find a phone # or email that I can contact in order to ask for compensation, as I now have no recourse but to purchase a brand new TV.
I have purchased Sony products in past based on their quality and customer service, but looks like I will never purchase from this company again as they obviously don't want to assist their customers with product service. Hopefully their executives will start to learn about the dissatisfaction from their customer and do something about it.

I will never buy another Sony Product Again! 2 of my 3 Sony tv's are having major problems. As well as my Sony Playstation! I will never buy another Sony product again! I am 61 years old and have watched their products deteriorate over the past 15 years. At first I thought it was a fluke but after talking to other people, have found that they are having the same problems too. So my advice to anyone reading these reviews, Stay away from Sony! They used to be quality now they are expensive junk!
I currently have 3 Sony TVs, 2 currently are not working properly and have been told that they can be fixed, but have to send them in for repair. I can buy 3 new tv's for what this will cost. One set is only 4 years old, the other is 9 but is almost never used! Over a $1600 invested in the 2! I WILL NEVER BUY A SONY PIECE OF EQUIPMENT AGAIN. My Playstation quit after 2 and a half years! ** YOU SONY. YOU HAVE SCREWED ME ONCE TOO OFTEN!

I contacted Sony customer service back in November 2015. I explained to them that my television I purchased less than a year ago shows a red line at the left corner of the screen. They provided me with an Event ID # and ask that I take a video of the TV along with pictures of the back and front of the TV. On 12/2/2015 I sent an email as requested, of the video and pictures. On 12/3/15 I received an email from Milton (**) that they had reviewed the pictures I sent and a customer services representative will contact me within the next 1 - 2 business days with the results of their review.
On 12/8/2015 I sent an email back to stvsp@am.sony.com to let them know that I am following up as I still have not received a call or email in reference to my concern. On 12/17/2015 I contacted customer service and was told, I should receive a call within 24 hours from customer Service. On 1/8/2016 I contacted customer service again at 18775917669 and was told I should receive a call within 24 hours. As of today, 1/11/2016 I still have not received a call. The television itself is fine, but the customer service kinda sucks; they have no service repair shops within the State of New Jersey. And I have a 46 inch projection television, that is no longer in warranty. The television is starting to have double vision with the nearest authorized repair shop is in New York State. They will not travel to the State of New Jersey for any in home repairs that is desperately needed. According to Sony's customer service Department, if you live within the State of New Jersey whether or not your television is in or out of warranty they have no authorized repair shops within the state of New Jersey. So buyer beware, he will not be told misinformation unless you know to ask.
By the way just for extra knowledge, I was very recently looking to purchase a (Samsung UN65JU7500FXZA Curved 65-Inch 4K Ultra HD 3D Smart LED TV") from (Best Buy), which allegedly have some kind of guaranteed price matching system which is supposed to allow them to beat any price. When I tried it, I was told by the management that Samsung Corp. did not allow them to sell their newest model televisions for less than their suggested retail price. (Best Buy) management further stated that if a customer buys Samsung's newest model televisions from them or anywhere else at a lower price, the manufacture Samsung Corp. would void your one-year manufacturer's warranty. This information came directly from (Mr. Cory **) a Best Buy store manager last night December 20, 2015. He called it a (U.M.R.P.) directive from the Samsung Corp..
The Samsung Corp. denies any and all allegations of such a thing, but it does make you wonder why the Samsung Corporation continues to allow Best Buy to sell their product if they are deliberately lying about their company; so again buyer be very aware of both corporations. After all it's all about getting your money, isn't it?

A worker was there to install a new dish control box and check the hook up to the ground rod. He then tried to receive DIRECTV service through his testing equipment and could not receive any service. The inspector got his ladder and a new LMB from the truck. He went on top of the roof to the dish. Inspector proceeded to wipe off the face of the dish that had black powder on it. He installed a new LMB and the worker said that he was now receiving a signal from the DIRECTV. I asked what this meant. The inspector proceeded to tell me this meant nothing. He said that sometime you just had to clean the device to restore service. The old LMB was installed back on the dish. He them came down from the ladder. All of us walked around to the front door but the inspector did not come inside.
I was informed by the worker that I needed to remain inside in order to sign off on the work order. I disregarded what the worker said and told him I would be right back. I went back out to see what the inspector was doing and he was coming around the corner with the ladder and LMB in his hand. I stopped him and asked to see the LMB he had and he told me it was the new one. After I inspected the LMB, I could see this was the old one that was on the dish originally. I went back inside my home and asked the worker to leave and take his equipment with him. I let the inspector know that I was keeping the old LMB and would inform the company of their actions. I went on the roof and saw the new LMB on the dish that the inspector installed in order for the service to be restored. The inspector and worker talked for a few minutes about what had happened and then they left. Thank you for your time.

Have owned three Sony brand TVs and two suffered their end of life events before ten years of use, while the third has only one year of use so far. If it wasn't for the evident low-quality design and manufacture I would have given high marks. One in fact had a design defect documented in a court of law. However my incident occurred outside the court imposed time limit for the class action settlement - so Sony ponied up only about half the value of a replacement, meaning I had to complete another (the third) purchase from my pocket. Don't know if I would buy another Sony at street prices - doubt it.
