Dear Sir / Ma'am, I purchased this Sony Bravia TV Serial No. 8009144 in April 2018, it’s been only 10 months since I purchased the TV. Suddenly there has been faults regarding the display of the TV screen. Some spots have started appearing along the one-third part of the screen causing a huge inconvenience. As per our understanding it's manufacture defect not physical damage. After having a conversation with one of your help centers I was told that the display costs Rs. 36,000.
I have been a fond consumer of Sony products until now when I have been cheated and misguided by your company regarding the quality of the product and also the service provided by your help centers. And after purchasing an expensive product, even the repair services are also expensive which in any way does not go with the needs and services to the common man. Now buying Sony products seems like a very big mistake. And I am not the only one who has a complaint regarding the faulty display in your television. I am highly disappointed with your services. Please see to it that you are actually taking steps to fix our problems and not just make false claims. It would be highly kind of you to do something about this problem regarding my television and for once prove yourself to be giving worthy services at moderate costs.

Got an onscreen message from Sony that there was an important update that needed to be installed. I let it install, which only took about 25 minutes, and found that I no longer had any sound from Netflix, Prime, YouTube or any of the app programs. In addition my headset would not produce sound for the apps either. My headset would however, produce sound from my regular TV (DirecTV) but I can now not turn down the sound on the TV to zero and then control the sound to the headset with the headset sound controls. The headset controls now also control the sound levels of the TV.
Two TV techs from the store the TV came from spent almost 3 hours on 2 visits and cannot find a fix at all. It is a Sony software glitch that apparently only Sony can fix. I am told that several of the stores customers are having problems because of the latest update. If you are reading this, you have probably already experienced the problem. If not, beware of Sony smart TVs. They don't have a good history.

Bought a new Sony 4K TV 8 months ago. The problems started from the very beginning. Internal Chrome Cast does not work to cast from an iPad. Tech support was not helpful on that issue. Had to buy an external Chrome Cast and connect it. The apps do not work properly - tech support not helpful on that either. Basically forget trying to use them -just cast from your device. The TV would not turn on sometimes - not all the time - which was odd. You would have to go and unplug the TV and then plug it back in to get it to turn on.
We eventually called Sony. They sent a repairman. Again - horrible experience with the repairman and he broke the TV. It won't even turn on now. Sony does not consider it to be a "new" device. So they will only replace with a refurbished device. Um - 8 months old... We have been going back and forth with Sony for months now. Still don't have a working TV. Read the warranty info carefully on the product. After 3 months you are almost out of luck with Sony. The customer service is difficult and not helpful at all. Will never buy another Sony again!

I bought $900 Sony Bravia (Android based - KDL43W8000C) a year ago. Picture quality was acceptable and Android OS working well. Just one year down the road, lines started appearing on the screen, then the whole screen would turn black, or yellow or red and show no pictures. It appears this malfunction was timed to coincide with the end of warranty. I tried to Google online to see if I could get a solution, then I realized my mistake. All Sony forums are a flood with customers complaining about lines on the TV, and they either had to buy new sets or pay more than half the price of the TV to get it repaired. If you are considering buying Sony Bravia, Just check SONY BRAVIA reviews and save yourself the heartache. It's junk, simply don't buy.

The use of six colors, rather than the typical three, combined with eight scan zones which provide twice to four times the effective scan rate of typical competitors, results in a superior video experience. My set is seven years old and as good as any 1080p set out there. This is where the value in a major electronics product becomes evident. My A/V system handles most of the interface functions. Sony allowed me to spend my money on what matters rather than a bunch of duplicated whistles and bells that are better handled by my A/V and surround sound system. The use of a Gorilla Glass viewing surface has proven to be very durable, easy to clean surface and the minimal bezel creates a great unified look to my entertainment center fixtures.

I get in touch with Sony, we go back and forth troubleshooting, trying to get it right. It didn't get right, so I had to wait for them to send me a replacement Tv and then send the broken one back. I get the replacement TV, within 2 weeks I'm having issues with it. Apps freezing up, not working right. I call Sony we troubleshoot, nothing's working. They send me a third TV, I send the second TV back. And now I'm having issues with the 3rd TV. They wanted me to spend money and buy a USB so I could download their update because the TV would not update. I told them, no, I should not have to purchase anything to get a TV I've already purchased, to work correctly. So they sent me a USB with the downloaded information. My husband connects it to the TV, does the update, and now it won't work at all.
You'd think Sony would make it right but no not one little bit. They will not help me, they want me to be in front of the TV again and still try to troubleshoot. I am done with that TV. It is the third one, it is obviously a lemon and they will not give me my money back or they will not make it right I'm done, I don't recommend ever purchasing anything from Sony again I've been a loyal customer for 30 years, they will not see another dime of my money. I purchased a 75" XBR75X900E series Sony TV ($3,000) and a HTST5000 Sony Sound Bar ($1,500) in September 2017. A few months after installing, the HDMI ports of the TV started to fail, one-by-one. Sony sent an in-home repair person, who replaced the motherboard of the TV. I had to pay the repair person to help me remove the TV from the wall. After replacing the TV motherboard, the sound bar stopped working. With the help of Sony technical assistance we were able to get the sound bar working again that night.
However, several weeks later the sound bar stopped working again. Multiple calls to Sony tech support would fix the problem, but then several days later the sound bar stopped working again. Now Sony wants me to ship the sound bar to their repair depot. To do that I have to pay someone to remove the TV from the wall mounting so the sound bar electrical cord (which is hard-wired to the sound bar) can be removed from behind the wall. Then, when the repaired sound bar is back, I will again have to pay someone to remove the TV and re-wire the sound bar electrical.
Given the multiple issues with the equipment so shortly after purchase, and the fact that I am not sure it is the sound bar (and not the TV) that is malfunctioning, I requested that Sony send an in-home repair person to diagnose the problem. They refused. I escalated my request to Sony customer service and they too refused to deviate from their policy that all sound bars be shipped in for repair. They suggested they were actually doing me a favor since the one-year warranty has just run out, even though I reported the sound bar problem weeks before. My previous TV and soundbar are Samsung. I have owned that equipment for six years and have never had a problem. I made a mistake in choosing Sony this time around.

I did not pay $4000 to be given a $1500 re-certified TV. They said they will send me a New TV. I Fast forward 4 months after getting the so called TV, the TV would not start up and started to show 6 blinking red lights. TV never turns on. I called Sony again and they sing the same song of "under Warranty we send you only re-certified TV". I did not get the value for the money I spent.
The customer service representatives are either very rude, or just give you answers like - "There are known issues with Sony products and this is what you get." "It is an electronic product it can fail". Not 2 television sets of same model in less than 8 months. They do not own up to their product. They are not proud of their products. I feel Sony has fallen from its standards. This will be my last Sony TV ever, and I will not promote Sony products among family, friends and any of my companies. I will move away from Sony products after this disappointing experience with Sony. I called back, they sent a technician to the house. He could not fix the TV. The technician called Sony and explained the TV was not able to be fixed. They sent a refurbished TV a week later and I had to take the day off from work to be home for the delivery. The delivery team set the TV up and plugged it in. It did not turn on. They moved the TV to another outlet. The TV turned on and eventually went to the setup screen. They took the broke TV. I moved the replacement TV to my living room and it would not turn on. I moved it to several different outlets that were tested with other appliances and working. The TV would not turn on from the remote or from the back of the unit.
I called Sony and asked for a refund. They said no. I asked for them to come get the replacement TV. They said no. Now they are sending a technician back to the house to fix this broken TV. In the meantime I have been without a TV so I went and purchased another TV. How long will this cycle of call, troubleshoot, send part, send technician, sent refurbished broke TV continue? In the meantime I am out of a lot of money with no help from Best Buy, Sony or CitiBank that holds the Best Buy Credit Card. What a scam. Sony refuses to replace a recurring problem 4K-TV. I purchased the TV from Best Buy without any warranty - knowing that a brand like Sony wouldn't have any problems and would last years as they have built their reputation. Within the 1st 3 months white light started to bleed from the edges, the remote control would need to be continuously paired. Within the 1st year the TV back LED went out and it started to show lines and bleeding white light along the edges. After significant deliverance and hours of explaining my situation and providing multiple proofs of the fault they finally exchanged the TV with another refurbished TV.
Upon receipt of the replacement TV - I assured with customer service that they will stand by their product and provide any support if the same problems occur. Just as I feared the same problems and bigger faults with the back LED panel started to emerge. This time their customer service mentioned that the TV is out of warranty and cannot be replaced. They suggest to go to one of their authorized service centres. Upon checking with them - they suggested that nothing can be done and I might as well go and buy another TV! This television was a dependable television. It lasted for years and years but the picture was just not what other companies or the new versions had for sale. It was like a Pinto living in a Lexus world. It fit the purpose though. It played all the movies I wanted to watch and the American Idol shows. It played all the cartoons my son sat and watched as a toddler. It may not have let me choose to watch online movies or play games but it was worth its value in weight.
It was heavy. Heavy? You wouldn’t want to hang it on the wall. You wouldn’t want to put it on a bookshelf made by Walmart. You definitely wouldn’t want to place in on a corner metal rack. If it wasn't a big fat oak or walnut tree holding this baby then I would say it’s sitting in the floor. That’s only if you have a house. Those cheap ass trailer floors don’t hold them either. The new TVs however, we could hang them from the ceiling and GeeO what a good picture we would watch on the tube tonight.

On October 12th, 2017 we purchased a new Sony 65 HD TV. The picture quality was great, while it lasted. On January 30th, 2018 we were watching television and it just died. There was no picture, no fuzzy screen, it was just black. We called Best Buy, where we bought it and they directed us to call Sony as we had it less than a year. After an hour conversation, being shifted from person to person they stated they would send us a part to fix it. I was clearly confused? Is this such a regular problem that they knew what to send us?? But how would I know how to change out the part??
After a lengthy conversation they agreed to send someone to repair the TV. Sony sent our repair on February 5th and we were told that the TV could not be repaired. Sony then offered to send us a refurbished TV. NO the TV was just over 3 months old and it was not a cheap TV. On February 13th a new TV was delivered and the screen on the new one was shattered. Clearly we refused delivery. When I called Sony back and told them that we would not accept the new television it was another lengthy conversation, being shifted around to different people.
Finally, after I had to convince them that we did not break the screen on the new television they stated they would send another TV but the warranty of the TV they sent out would only be one year from the date of our original purchase. This was not acceptable. By the time we get the TV we would have been without it for at least a month. I had to take vacation time to wait for delivery on the first TV. They gave me a 12 hour window of when it would be delivered and someone had to be there. So I had to take a FULL day off. And, now have to take a second vacation day to wait for a delivery that they can only say will happen within a 12 hour window.
Again, after another lengthy conversation. ALMOST 2 HOURS. I was told to call back when get the new TV and they would start a 1 year warranty from the date we received the television. They told me to call when I received the new TV so they would know the start date of the warranty. On February 27th we received the new television. As directed I called Sony to tell them we got the new television. Sony then proceeded to remind me that the warranty would be from the original purchase date??? No, I was told that it would be from the date we received the TV. Really?
Again, another lengthy conversation and the first offer I received was that they would extend it for three month. That would mean the warranty would take it until January 12th. That is NOT what I was promised. I was told that they didn't have record of that conversation and therefore it didn't happen. REALLY? I am not talking a huge amount of time difference. At this point It is about the principle of the thing, I was told it would be one year from the date we received it, why would I lie to get another few weeks warranty? I will never buy another Sony Product. I splurged and bought what I thought was the best TV out there. And for that I was forced to spend almost 10 hours on the telephone, waste 16 hours of annual leave and was basically called a liar by Sony.

We don't do that type of work."
When asked about the hundreds of dollars we spent to have the TV hung and setup we were told, "Oh well it was your choice to hang it on the wall so you will have to pay to do it again." When asked if we could talk to a supervisor she was told, "Listen, I do this all the time and that's the way it is so a supervisor will only tell you the same thing." From the get go, we had trouble with the TV powering on, but followed the Online Support information and would unplug and replug in the TV and it would work. Then in June we unplugged the TV and carefully stored it as we performed a remodel of the room it was in. When we plugged it back in a couple of months later... It would not turn on. At All. Sony's warranty is for only 1 year. We called and were referred to a repair center where we hope that they can repair the TV for a reasonable sum. Otherwise, this has been an expensive lesson. Lessons learned: I will NEVER purchase another Sony product again. I will only make big expensive electronics purchases at retailers that have replacement warranties available. At 18 months, there should not be a need to replace parts on a TV. A failure at 18 months should warrant a full replacement. I will purchase the extended warranty. Some of the other HX 950 owners before me who had the same problem were offered a partial credit. Some were offered a replacement but they were all edge lit display 4K. Mine was a Full Array 1080p.
Nonetheless, I wanted my next TV to be MY choice. I asked Sony if I could get a credit. They refused and said I had to accept a replacement and I had NO say in the matter. To make matters worse, they said the replacement ONLY CAME with a 90 DAY WARRANTY. I pleaded with them for a credit so I could make my own decision on a purchase but they simply refused. I used to be a loyal Sony customer but I am DONE with their overpriced garbage. They've lost me forever.

2 years ago we purchased a 65" 4K HD Smart TV from Best Buy for $4000. I know, it's super expensive but this was my husband's pride and friggin' joy! So a couple weeks ago an update came out for the TV. The update was for the overall performance of the TV adding features for the Apps. We did the update and it broke our TV. We called Sony, we emailed Sony, and we called Sony again. We were told that because the TV is out of warranty and it's not a "software issue" that we are responsible for repairs. Sounds fishy to me. One of the conversations that I had with a service guy he said that the issue is like a recall in cars. Not every car has a specific issue but a lot of them do and we happen to have a TV that has an issue. Well, this to me sounds like he was saying this TV has a recall that they knew about yet they are unwilling to fix it?
I asked WHY the hardware issue happened immediately after we did the update that SONY TOLD US TO DO and I was told that it must have been a "coincidence"! I am NOT happy!!! TVs are supposed to last more than 2 years! Especially a top of the line TV that is so stinking expensive! We have multiple Sony products throughout our house including TVs, VR, multiple PS4s, Vita... They make it, we have it. Yet, Sony is unwilling to fix this problem. Very Unsatisfied customer right now.

My tv (KLV40R482B) panel has gone bad, reason they are giving is the panel failure. When I asked them how, they say could be power fluctuation or the water might have gone inside, which is not the condition. I asked them if it is power fluctuation why the adapter didn't go bad? Why that motherboard did not go bad when it has other connections like Chromecast and Hathway set top box? They don't have the answers for that.
Also when I called the customer care and raised the request their response was 2 weeks after the request raised and said "you just need to replace the panel which costs 18K" and "why," I said "why only panel have gone bad?" They said, "it is defective so it has gone bad." So nasty answer. What I feel is they are taking it as granted by selling all rejected products in India. I would recommend not to buy Sony here onwards as they are bad at service and bad at the prod quality. They just can't justify why this has gone bad. They should have a fault tolerance for these kind of components where they are heavily priced or the important part of the tv.

I purchased a TV for the in-laws. The first day after setting it up I noticed that it was pixelated. I called Sony. They check my Serial number and told me it was in warranty, I sent the pictures and then sent the invoice when they asked for it. They immediately tried to say my serial number was liquidated which wasn't true. Then they tried to say the TV was purchased AS-IS.
One of their reps called the auction place and explained some are sold as-is (meaning broken or pieces are missing and preview is recommended because if you buy something AS-IS there are no refunds) and some are sold as new or refurbished with a 24 hour guarantee. Mine was purchased as brand new with a 24 hour guarantee.
The Sony rep switched the auction reps words around and said you have no warranty. So I sent screenshots of a posting of an AS-IS product and the posting of my TV. They have since ignored me and will not honor their warranty. The TV's manufacture date is only 9 months old. I will be pursuing to get a new TV either by a lawsuit or whatever my other options are.

I purchased a Sony Smart TV from Currys. 6 weeks before my warranty run out, I could access the apps and kept losing volume. Called Sony customer service and painfully run through the troubleshooting over the phone. After 45 mins, advised that I would have to have an engineer visit. I was told the engineer will contact within 4 hours however didn't hear from anyone. Tried to call back however the office hours are Monday to Friday 9 till 6 pm. As it was Friday at 6:30 I emailed customer services explaining and asking for them to change my contact number to my mobile because on Monday I would be at work not at home.
Monday come and go and no call, Tuesday I am told they have no record of my call or that an engineer visit has been scheduled. The advisor finally put me on to a supervisor who continued to say that an engineer visit wouldn't be necessary and that I hadn't completed the troubleshooting, to cut a very long story and having to raise a complaint. An engineer visit was scheduled however because the outsourced company Smart Solutions also only work Monday to Friday, had to book a day's holiday to be there for the engineer. 2 guys turn up from Smart Solutions to basically take the TV unit away, at no point was I told the TV wouldn't be repair on site.
I tried to call Sony customer service however I couldn't get through before the engineer left. Then had to start the whole process again as repair had to be done offsite and Sony would not replace the faulty unit. Anyway after using 3 days holiday and being without a tv for 3 weeks. Sony think £50 compensation is fair... I was told by Currys that LG are the best TVs and best company to deal with when it comes to repairs or replacements. I honestly will never buy anything else from Sony again.

I setup my TV over a month later in Colorado and the sound didn't work. I contacted Sony support and we determined that only some of my buttons worked on my remote. After talking with an agent that wasn't very good and asked the same questions multiple times it was decided to do a factory reset. After the factory reset it goes through steps where you resync the remote to the TV. This step didn't work so now my TV is stuck on a screen that I can't get past. The rep said there was nothing they could do and contact a Sony repair shop. VERY DISSATISFIED.

It seems Sony is selling faulty TVs and not informing their customers. On the 5th April I purchased a brand new 2017 XBR55X900E Sony TV from amazon.com. From the minute I received the TV it has given me nothing but problems. It would suddenly reboot itself, the picture would get blurry for a few seconds during a movie, etc. These things only happened a few times so I was willing to live with this (although I had never experienced such issues with other non Sony TV's). Then one Sunday afternoon with guests over watching a basketball game the Tv turned off and would not come back on after trying everything and a lot of googling (Sony Tech support is not open on Sunday) we discovered this is a common problem with Sony TV's and you have to do a Factory Reset.
After the second Factory Reset it finally started working again. A few weeks later Sony does a Software update and Suddenly the TVs WiFi connection does not work. Luckily this happened on a weekday and I was able to contact Sony customer support who walked me through the whole process of fixing this. A little over a week ago the TV suddenly stops working again. It will not come on and even a Factory Reset does not fix it. After contacting Sony they tell me the LED screen has failed and it needs to be replaced. They say it will take 5 days total to fix the problem. They will order the part and receive it in 2 to 3 days and then the repair person will contact me and schedule a repair within 2 days. At this point I am angry now. This tv is not even 3 months old and I have had a slew of problems with it.
It is now over week since I called customer support and I have still not heard anything from Sony. Sony Customer Support keeps shifting the blame to the Repair company saying they are an independent company and have nothing to do with Sony. This Tv is not even 3 months old and is still very much under warranty. What is even more disturbing is after doing some research I found out that Sony has had issues with their LEDs failing for a long time however new buyers are unaware that this is still a big problem.

The Sony customer service was terrible, they had no idea what they were talking about, rerouted me to phone numbers that were incorrect and when I finally got a customer service person who could help, they refused to replace the TV that their firmware damaged.
I was escalated to their customer relations dept, which is a joke. There is no one else to speak to and after 2 bad TVs within 3 months, they referred to the warranty and would not budge. So now we get a service call, they have to open up the TV and replace a board letting in dust, placing it on its face, and who knows what else. And I must reiterate that it was damaged by THEIR firmware update. Their quality control is clearly lacking. If you have any Apple devices or you are familiar with IOS, you are out of luck. Netflix, usually works, but not always. We reported to Sony who passed the problem to their service subcontractors.
Now, almost 3 weeks later, about 5 to 6 phone calls, one 5 hour period of waiting for a tech who did not show up at the allotted time and the TV is still broke. We are so embarrassed because we were very positive to our friends and family about the TV and one of them, on our recommendation, purchased a Sony Bravia. Sony is a brand name that everyone has heard of. Although I have heard of some Sony products that were not of good quality, I can only say that I am not only happy that Sony was my first choice for purchasing but I also feel smart. While I hear others complain, I can safely return to my Sony and smile. It has never caused me a problem and I've had it for ten years. Another reason for me to smile. The picture is as sharp and clear as the day I bought it. It has a 48 inch screen which is more than big enough for me. I love the look of it and how it easily fits into mine and probably anyone else's decor.
Turning it on and off is so simple, one remote click and you're on and the picture was programmed to the wide "full" screen, which is even better, so when you put the TV on it automatically opens to the wide "full" without trying to adjust anything. The color is perfect, as is the volume. If I had purchased a larger screen, the picture would have been programmed to the wide "zoom" mode. However, this is large enough for me, in this living room. I have given thought about purchasing a larger one, probably 60 inches for the downstairs den when the room is completed. When I buy a larger set for my downstairs den it will be a Sony.
It hooked up to cable with ease and if I wanted to I could use it for the internet by simply getting another box and purchase movies that would show on a larger screen. The DVDs are extremely easy to use by a simple "input" change. I am not mechanically savvy so to have a TV that is people friendly is a 'boon' to me. Everyone who has been in my home and has watched the TV all comment, "this has a beautiful picture." In closing, when choosing the TV I took my time and compared picture quality. Although I paid almost double the price, at the time and costs are way down now, I don't give it a thought. I have seen other Sony's TVs and they were exactly like mine. So, Sony is my brand.

The television set was at the high end of all the televisions available at the time at Best Buy. The picture was incredible so we decided to buy Sony. We decided not to purchase the Best Buy warranty because we were buying a Sony. Approximately 6 months after installing the television set it stopped working. It would not turn on. I contacted customer service. I was told to call back to talk to a technician to troubleshoot the problem.
Our son handled the call since we are not as techno as he is. An e-mail was sent to our son stating "Due to parts/service availability, we will not be able to complete the repairs on your television set. In lieu of repair, we can offer an advance exchange (Replacement)". I contacted the number in the e-mail. I had to give my credit card number before they would deliver a replacement.
I asked Sony about reimbursing me for the installation that I paid Best Buy. (It was approximately $200.00.) I thought they would want to make sure their customer was taken care of since we paid to make sure the television was installed properly. I was told that they would not pay to have the television installed. After this I received another e-mail from Sony, thanking me for contacting Sony. It was confirming what we discussed over the phone. This is where I was told I would be getting a recertified TV and a 90-day warranty. After a long heated conversation with the rep from Sony the 90-day warranty will be added to the remainder of my original warranty. I am so very disappointed in the handling of this situation. We decided to treat ourselves to an up-to-date top of the range Bravia 4K HD TV and naively thought that Sony was the best - and the salesman seemed to believe this was so! We soon encountered problems with delayed switch on and delayed channel change, loss of programme and loss of sound, failure to connect to catch up services, major issues with You-View etc, etc. As 4K, HD, catch-up and Android were all new to us we just thought we were doing something wrong but finally contacted the service company we had paid extra for. They had no idea how to help and we wasted days trying to talk to someone that knew what they were talking about and although they eventually offered a visit no one turned up.
So we contacted Sony and they were even more useless - a total waste of time and breath while they denied having no knowledge of anyone having similar issues (look on the internet I advised!!!). A couple of updates later Sony tried to update the OS but when we tried to install we got a message saying that there was a problem with the update and we should await a revised version. This was finally released about four months later (by which time our guarantee had run out of course) but this was the moment we were waiting for - we thought! All would soon be a ok!!! Laugh!!! After installation some problems went away - but more arrived to replace them - even more hang-ups, delays, loss of picture, etc, etc. We are going to throw this 15 month old TV out and get another but Sony won't get a look in. Any credibility the brand once had has been blown away for us, our family and friends...

I purchased a SONY BRAVIA 60 Inch smart TV model KDL60W610B on August 15, 2016. The TV stopped working May 25, 2017. The TV wouldn't turn on and a red LED indicator light kept flashing at the bottom of the screen. I looked the potential issues in the troubleshooting section of the manual that came with the TV. I performed all the steps in the manual but the issue was not resolved. Was then advised to contact SONY Customer Support.
I went to the appropriate area of the website and was ultimately computer 'chatting' with a Customer Service Rep. The Rep had me repeat the procedures I had already performed with the same result. Was directed to call SONY Customer Support. Was on the phone for 45 minutes with this SONY rep and went through the same disconnect procedures for the third time. Eventually was told that defective TV would be replaced.
I was told to email pictures of the full front view of the TV, the model information on back of the TV, the red LED indicator light at mid-blink, and the proof of purchase receipt. The Rep advised me that the defective TV would be replaced by a refurbished TV which I thought was unfair. The Rep then asked for my credit card info in case the defective TV was not sent back to SONY. The Rep asked me if I still had the box this 60 inch TV had come in to which I responded "Of course not". If the TV was not shipped back when the replacement was delivered I was told I would be charged for the replacement TV. I was furious by now and told the Rep that I would not give out my credit card information.
Finally I was told that as an alternative when the refurbished TV was delivered I was required to be home so that the defective TV could be taken by the delivery company at the same time. During this telephone exchange I learned that even though I purchased a three year extended warranty SONY was only responsible for one year. Years two and three were Walmart's problem. I was also told that even though I would be given a refurbished TV that SONY would not extend the original one year they were responsible for. I was finally contacted by the delivery company was told that a new TV would be delivered between 8AM and 8PM on June 7, 2017. I would much rather have a refund so I could buy another brand because I will never again purchase any SONY electronics.

Here is a letter that I sent to the CEO explaining my dissatisfaction - at no time have Sony offered to come and look at the problem first hand. They always repeat that this is within tolerance. I made a video of the problem which can be seen at **. The Sony user forum has instances of other people with the same problem.
As a loyal customer of Sony equipment, it is with regret that my most recent purchase will be my last. Over the years (40 or more) I have owned Sony Audio equipment, a Vaio laptop and 3 Bravia Televisions. It is the last one that has made up my mind to look elsewhere in the future. The set in question is a KD49X8309CBU which I purchased from the Sony Centre in Milton Keynes in September 2016. I chose it for many reasons including: Larger screen to assist both my wife's and my own ability to read on-screen text, Added quality of picture that 4K promises, Android for the flexibility, Previous Sony experience, 5 year warranty.
Generally the TV does what it promises, however after a few weeks I became aware of a vertical banding issue particularly in green backgrounds of sporting events such as football and snooker. As the cameras pan from side to side the banding has become very distracting. Regular live TV and films etc do not suffer from this effect as the background is rarely static and therefore the banding is not noticed.
I contacted Sony support and was given reference number ** followed by telephone advice to perform various picture setting adjustments. None of these helped and I was then advised to perform a factory reset. This did not improve either. I was asked to send an image to support showing the problem and was informed that the set is within tolerance. By making further adjustments to the picture settings I have been living with the problem ever since.
Recently I had a Sky engineer attend on a support call and he remarked firstly on the good picture and then he noticed the banding and said that once seen he would have trouble living with that. Another visitor in seeing this told me that he was in the market for a new 4K TV and based on what he saw would not be looking at Sony. He purchased a Samsung 4K which has a very clean picture.
I contacted Sony Support again via Facebook and again was asked to supply an image. I did better than that and supplied a video of a green JPG image which clearly shows the banding. Again your support staff have advised that the banding is within tolerance. I have asked for how the tolerance is measured but this information seems to be difficult to supply.
When I purchased the TV the Sony Centre had this model on display (in showroom demo mode) and after quite a long informative discussion with the salesperson, we agreed to purchase one. Had the salesman told me that the specifications included banding within tolerance, I think I would have taken time to think about it and perhaps research the problem.
I have since researched the problem on various user forums and it appears to be quite a common problem with this range of TVs and there seems to be a mix of experiences where Sony have either replaced the set with a similar model that has no banding or has advised their customers that there is nothing they can do. I do receive regular emails from Sony advising me of the latest products which include 4K TVs, each one claiming to be the best in picture quality. Never once have I seen any information on how to negate vertical banding.
On the plus side, your support staff have been polite and have done all they are capable of, and the TV is good in all other aspects. However, this experience has made me think long and hard about my next purchase, which will be some time off as I am stuck with this problem for quite a few years now. I find this disappointing as Sony has always had such a good reputation and image and trust that you accept these comments as constructive criticism.

Their first solution, after running a diagnostic, that it needed repair and the part was being ordered. A few days later, they called back to say that the part is out of stock and will take long to arrive so the next best solution was to offer me a refurbished, re-certified television. I escalated the issue to customer relations, but they constantly apologized and kept reading policies to me like moronic robots. I purchased a $5000 home 75 inch TV and sound bar theatre system installed on 12-22-2015 by Best Buy with a 4 year extended warranty. I called the installer Best Buy to see why the unit sound was crackling In 11-05-16. The BB staff came out and said that the speakers were blown in the sound bar. They stated they couldn't do the repairs for the sound bar at my home but did remove it for me to take it to the store myself to have it repaired. The repair company Best Buy Depot called me and said the unit was not the problem but could possibly be the HDMI cable that came with the sound bar or TV HDMI inlet. When I asked the BB at Geek office they said, "You would have to ask the Sony people for the cord."
The cord was under warranty when they were called out originally but the lack of the repair staff to resolve the issue in November on the first call by BB a Sony Rep they told me the $20 HDMI cable wasn't covered because the sound bar wasn't under warranty by Sony after the one year warranty even though the problem existed before expiration was reported to BB on a $5000 entertainment center.
It's sad that the electronic industry is screwing the customers in this country nowadays. My last Sony lasted and is still in use 17 years after purchase and we still like this one. A simple gesture to send a $20 piece of wire would of prevented this review. Especially if the warranty dept would of understood this was a issue way before it was out of warranty.

I was looking to upgrade my 46 inch Sony to a 60 inch. I decided to go with the 60EX645 around April 2013. Being a Sony, and all my other Sony TVs were rock solid, I did not purchase the service agreement for repairs. About 2015, I noticed a Horizontal line down the screen. I changed all my HDMI cables and also had Comcast replace their box. The line continued. This month, I called Sony support and was told there was nothing they can do. After reading all the reviews, I see that I am not alone in having a defective LCD panel. I think Sony should provide a nonchargeable repair or worst case help with repair cost. I am starting to rethink purchasing a Sony 65 in 4K due to faulty parts.

Sony 65" 4k Model XBR-65X900C - Two weeks before my 1 year warranty came up my tv started rebooting by itself in the middle of a movie. Since I bought the TV at Best Buy and purchased an extended warranty I went to the store. The store representative said I would have to call Geek Squad. Note, not once did they say to call Sony direct since I was still under the 1 year warranty. They have come out to my house 4 times. Every time they claim another reset should solve the issue. I decided to call Sony to ask them for help since one of their in store representatives assisted with purchasing this particular tv. "Top of the line they said".
Then contacted Sony to the following number; 1-866-766-9272, spoke with Frank. Told Frank my story, he proceeded to walk me through a software update. I explained to him I could not. The internal wireless card does not work. He then said he could not help me. Okay let's back up, he starts to help me and then says he can't. I ask him if he is a Tier 1 or Tier 2 help desk technician. He says he is a Tier 1 technician. I ask him to escalate my call to Tier 2, he says he can't. I ask him for and escalation phone number so I can plead my case, he says there's is no number and no one can help me. So now I have a $2499.99 (black Friday sale price) TV that I cannot watch a full program on. Both Sony and Geek Squad keep giving me the runaround.

Just called to ask how to play music from iPad as it did not work by just putting the iPad into the HDMI slots. Nightmare. One rep hung up on me. The next one just decided to email a very unspecific technical instruction that made no sense. It's not a TV that is user-friendly. No wonder they are not selling as many TVs as they used to. Samsung and LG have way surpassed them. Don't waste your money. Great TVs if and when they work.
