I bought a play station in 2006. It never played movies. Now I can't even play games on it, it gets really hot in 10 minutes after I put the game in. I have to keep opening the system and wiping off the disc, just to play a simple madden football game. It is almost imposible to play action games. They jump, the game stops, I can't even move from one part of the game to the next. I paided almost $170.00 for the system, game cost $40.00 - $50.00 a piece.

I have had my PS2 for about 9 months. I have played it for a total of a couple weeks of use over that period. It cuts out or won't read DVD's. It also won't read PS2 games most of the time. This has resulted in a loss of nearly $1000.00.

Sent in a ps2 to be refurbished or repaired. They supposedly sent me a refurbished one. I paid 45.00 for repair and 23.00 for shipping. However, the one they sent me as a replacement is defective as well. It shuts itself off in the middle of the game. The cooling fan is not operating. They told me that it looked like they sent me one that was not repaired and apologized, however there is a 90 day warranty so I can get it fixed for nothing. The catch: I have to pay another 23.00 in shipping as it is Sony's policy that they will not and cannot pay for any shipping to them.

We own a Sony PS2 that our 2 boys attempt to use, and it is increasingly not playing most of our DVD's or the many Sony PS2 games which we have purchased. We purchased it for the advertised convenience of being able to play both with the same unit.

We are out the money for the console (several hundred dollars) and then 5 - 6 hundred dollars in PS2 Games. I thought I was experiencing a random error, until I began researching on the web. It weems that this 'Disc Reading Error' experience with the PS2 unit is just as Sony intended. I am really disappointed with the way that Sony has been handling the situation. More consumers need to know about how Sony does not stand behind their products.

Sony needs to do something about this problem, I would like my money back or at least fix or replace the game system

Yes, I was a fool when I bought the Playstion 2, and guess what disc read errors and no recall after 5 yrs of building crap. What a joke Sony!! We deserve our money back or machines fixed. Wait till these errors with the playstation 3 come out, Sony will go down.

$300 for console and numerous games that can't be played now. Should of stayed with Nintendo, never had problems with them

As the mother of a 15yr. old, I am truely appalled by your method of limiting the release of the Sony Playstation 3. Sony has gain significant monetary success by marketing and selling to todays youth, I would think that you would feel some type of responsibility to look after the well being of these consumers. After Fridays limited release of PS3 across the country, this is clearly not the case. Until you can manufacture enough to supply the demand, you should not put your customers and retailers in a position to be hurt physically and legally by creating this frenzy of an environment. I am afraid someone will end up losing their life if this marketing strategy does not change soon. It is time for Sony to start looking after the hand that feeds them.

My Playstation 2 will no longer read any disk. I have lost hundreds of dollars on games and accessorys and I'm afraid of purchasing another one and lose even more money. It is not very old and I believe that it should be recalled after so many people have the same issue.

I purchased my daughter a Sony PS2 two years ago and have had nothing but problems with it. It will not read blue disc or some DVDs. This is very disheartening as I have always liked Sony products.

When calling Sony I get no satisfaction. We have lost over $400 in this system and games, not to mention the disappointment my daughter has in this game.

My Playstation 2 started acting up last year, making very unusual jarring noises from inside the disc tray. I sent it in for repairs; it worked for about 6 months; then the jarring noise came back. The PS2 even scratched the surface of two of my games so badly that the PS2 won't even accept them or load them.

I've sent e-mail after e-mail to playstation.com support, waited week after week but all I get are pre-typed messages that don't even relate to my problem.

Like many others I was one of the idiots who paid top dollar for a Sony PS2 when it first came out, $450 to be exact. To my surprise the system stopped reading discs so I returned it and received a new one from Toys R Us. This system failed as well, and when I took it for repairs they wanted $180.

Since I was already stuck with thousands, (yes thousands, there are four boys in my house who all buy and play games) of dollars of useless software I purchased a brand new PS2. You can only imagine my anger when this unit broke down as well. My younger brother purchased another PS2 - same thing, different day.

I researched the problem to see if I was cursed, and lo and behold, on your website I see people with the same exact problems. I'm not insane, and it's not just me, but now I have three defective PS2 systems (shiny black bookends, now I know why they designed it to stand on its end).

I called Sony and was given two options - I love options, so I heard them out. I could either 1) send Sony my machine, pay $75, plus shipping, they would repair my machine or 2) send Sony my machine, pay $45, plus shipping, they would send me a refurbished machine with a 3-month guarantee.

Damages: All-in-all four people ranging in age from 7 to 26 now hate Sony (the little one takes joy in kicking the system every time he sees it).

I bought my four children the Playstation 2 at Wal-Mart for Christmas. It only worked for about 1 year before it stopped reading the disks. I have spent, and so have my children, a fortune on games and accessories for this thing. Now we have a ton of games that we can't do anything with. My kids got their old Playstation 1 back out of storage.

I can't take it back to Wal-Mart, because I know longer have any receipts or the original box. I would like to have this replaced by Sony or they will lose any business they may have gotten from our family. Maybe we should have stuck with the tried and true, Nintendo!

I have been dealing with this Playstation 2 problem from the first week my kids started using this piece of junk. Most DVD's did not work in it, and when I finally complained, the business where I purchased it said they could not do anything because it was 2 days over the 90-day warranty period. When I e-mailed Sony's customer relations people, they stated that they did not want to deal with me over the internet. They stated that a representative will contact me soon to resolve this issue. That was about 3 months ago, so I figure that was just a kiss-off to keep me quiet for now.

I work for the Dept. Consumer Affairs, Bureau of Automotive Repair, here in CA. I know what people's complaints can do to resolve an issue. I believe this is a world-wide problem with this $300.00 piece of garbage having been shipped everywhere. My kids have $500.00 to $600.00 worth of games that are nothing more than paper weights to go along with a $300.00 door stop. All of my kids friends, that have them, all have the same problem with the DVD part of the unit. The problem is that all the best games are now DVD games, which means that they can't be used.

My kids and their friends are now going to purchase X-box game units to play games on, but they have to start from scratch, after sinking almost a grand into this worthless piece of junk.

Sony should be embarrassed by this situation and make it right by buying everybody's Playstation back along with all the games. I know this would never happen, hence the class action suits against them. I have stopped purchasing Sony products, and am spreading the news around about their lousy customer relations and products.

With the ps/2 controllers, they break too easy. The (R1) button breaks with ease. I have 4 controllers all with the same problem. Also to save money on repair costs I have to do my own work. Like the DVD issue -- it`s the laser eye that gets dirty. When it stops reading discs I pull it apart & clean it. It's a temporary fix.

My warranty is invalid now that I clean it myself.

I have purchased three Sony playstation 2's in the last year and the company will not replace any of them. I have had numerous problems with software and just want what I paid for to be replaced or repaired with no questions asked but of course Sony has been nothing but a hassle and an inconvenience. They want me to pay for repairs and shipping.

I have already bought it so they should be responsible for all aspects of repair and shipping, but when I told them that they were rude and showed no care at all for the consumer. I think X-box should have the rights to all sony games so people would not have to even buy sony ps2 anymore.

I have spent almost a thousand dollars on three boxes with ps2 on them that are now door stops, paper weights, and a total finacial blunder on my behalf and I will let everyone in my area know about the waste of money that ps2 is.
