Like so many people who have reported issues with Wal Mart purchases of Polaroid TV's, I purchased a 42 flat screen in Nov. 2007. It worked less than one year. After the same run-a-round by customer service, a Manager told me I would be given a refund. I bought another set (Sony) and waited for the refund. They said wait 6-8 weeks. After 2 months, a refurbished 46 set was sent instead of the cash refund. They claimed a refund was not approved. There is no record of it being approved. Why would I spend another $1,000 for a set the day after speaking with them? They refuse to do anything else, claiming they have fulfilled their contract with me. A class action suit is in order against Wal Mart and Polaroid. I'm in!

I purchased a polaroid 37 inch lcd tv January of 2007. In February of 2008 the tv would no longer turn on. I purchased a 2 year extended warranty on it (when I purchased the warranty the girl said they come to the house to fix it). I called the warranty place and they said that I had to ship the television to have it repaired. I was not happy about this in fact I was deceived. So I sent the tv to have it fixed. The second week of December I had the same problem. So once again I had to send the tv in to have it repaired. They called me on January 12 2008 and told me it would be a week before they received the parts. Than they called me again on January 19 2008 and told me that it would be another week before they had the part. I think Walmart should either exchange my tv or let me use a display model, and have my defective tv sent back to the store, untill my tv is fixed.

We called the repair service and they said it was the brain box and that for $200. they would send us the part and they would send out a repair person to fix it. We were considering doing this but after reading the many reviews from unsatisfied customers who had the same problems, and even more from customer service reps that i am seriously considering suing them and buying a new TV. And definately any brand but Poloroid!!

I purchased a 32 inch lcd tv from Polaroid in May of 07. The first one went back to the store within 30 days because of a black line through the middle of the screen. Now the replacement just randomly goes black, still with sound. I sent it to the warranty place and they claimed it was the DVD player and that it was fixed. NOT, day one and it already does the same thing. Polaroid guy says no we haven't heard of this problem, but if we did it might be the backlight They will do nothing as their warranty is expired. Nice. No help. So again, I am packing the darn thing up and sending it off to be fixed again. It is a piece of junk! I'm in on a class action suit!!!

My husband and I bought a 19 inch Polaroid LCD screen TV about 15 months ago, and recently the screen has gone black but we can hear what is on the TV. We are extremely frustrated with Polaroid for putting together such a cheap television we spent $300 on. Upon seeing other posts on this website it looks like many people are having the exact same problem and that their televisions only lasted about a year to a year and a half as well. Why Polaroid would put such cheap backlighting when constructing this television is beyond me. A good company should put quality as their number one priority rather than trying to save money by building a tv where the light only works for about a year. I will never buy a product from polaroid ever agin.

I purchased a 37 LCD polaroid tv. I had to pay for shipping due to the ship to store policy was not in effect for us. We do not watch a lot of tv, but wanted better picture in which to watch. After only 15 months the tv decided to make a strange noise and no longer gave a picture. I wrote the company and was given the reply that Well the product comes with a 12 month warranty only They told me they could fix it with only another $225. The warranty on that would only be for 90 days. I told them I had brought the product due to the name of the company and that I felt after 3 months of the warranty time ending that they should at least do something about giving half of the money back or charge maybe half to fix it. I then got on a blog site and it seems as though MANY people have had the same situation. They knew what the problem was just by stating what it does......kinda funny huh?!

It's been 14 months now since we purchased our Poloroid 32 LCD TV/DVD combo unit model #TDA-03211C from WalMart (Nov 2007). I consider myself one of the very-very fortunate ones who bought this model because everything on my Poloroid TV/DVD combo unit actually STILL WORKS perfectly!
This has not happened without a lot of effort on my part though. Within the first six months, the DVD box went out (chunking noise, would not load disks, and would not eject). Poloroid sent me a replacement DVD box in May 2008, but in Aug 2008 the exact same symptoms recurred with the new DVD box. Poloroid sent me another DVD box in August and that one failed in late Oct 2008. I never returned the previous defective one. They finally offered to send me a replacement TV in Nov 2008 because mine also has two small buldges in the gasket material that is around the edge under the front glass (cosmetic defect only). I told them to shove it after hearing about the other TV exchange nightmares that so many people have reported with this company. I told them that I had one of their TV's that I actually can still watch and I did not want to gamble that away with odds so high that I could get a much worse one. I did end up with an extra DVD box after all those exchanges though. I'm a master tinkerer with anything mechanical, so one evening I decided to take the extra DVD unit apart and see if I could tell what was happening to them. The problem was obvious and simple to fix. Some thin metal and plastic parts that load and eject the disks are deforming because of excessive heat. The DVD unit is mounted only about 1/4 from a thin metal plate that is right behind the picture screen. That metal plate is obviously supposed to deflect heat but it is inadequate in that regard. The metal plate itself heats up to about 120 degrees F in normal TV use and could probably double as a bread toaster. With the top and front cover off the DVD box (and no DVD in it of course) and laying it flat on a table, I pushed down firmly on the black plastic disk near the top center, and also on a metal lever near the top left front until they bottomed out. These are both easily accessible through holes. This was to bend them back down some since the lever was actually warped upwards by the heat such that it was rubbing the top of the box. I then went to O'Rielly Auto Parts and bought a 1'x2' sheet of 3/32 thick exhaust manifold gasket material for $8. This material is not flamable and will withstand temperatures that would melt this TV into a puddle (which might actually be an improvement for many of Poloroid's TVs). I cut the gasket material so that it would fit neatly inside the top cover of the DVD box (metalic side up), tucking it under the lip at the back and behind the front edge so that the top cover would fit back on as before without interference. I then put the top cover and front cover back on the DVD unit. I cut another piece of the gasket material to fit snugly in the space between the forward facing side of the DVD box and the metal plate that is behind the picture screen (metalic side facing picture screen). I then reinstalled the DVD box into the TV. It has been functioning perfectly for weeks now. No more strange noises, movies start right up, and the disks eject perfectly every time now. Thinking this must have just been a fluke, I took the second nonfunctioning DVD box apart and did the same things with it. I now have two perfectly functioning DVD boxes - a main one and a spare (screw you Poloroid if you're listening, you won't get either one back).

I bought TWO Polaroid 3700 model LCD TV and both have major problems. One makes a loud humming noise whenever you turn it on which goes away after a few minutes, and now will not on or off. Blue power light comes on but no picture or sound and when you try to cut it off, you can't power the blue (on light) back off again unless you unplug it. Both TV's now have poor picture quality (lines running) down the screen for now reason (no damage done). There is no use of the controls on it when this occurs. The only way to turn it off is to unplug it. My brother in law bought one the same time I bought mine and his did the same thing six months ago. I looked into this and realized that I am not alone when it comes to this issue with Polaroid TV. They regret the issue but will do nothing about correcting it without me shelling out $300 plus. We need a recall. This is obviously a major issue.

Lucky for us, we did pay extra for an additional 2 year warranty on both products. our problems started with the 37 inch first. I called and requested service, they sent me a box and I shipped my tv to New York, they had for a month. When the tv was returned to us we uncrated it and set it up, now something totally different was wrong with it when we got it back. So I sent it to have one thing fixed (the HD componant went out on it) and it came back still not working. This time it was the side video imputs and color was messd up. I called, they sent another box, ship to New York again, it's been three weeks so far this time. I haven't gotten it back yet. I was told by the person that was rapiring my tv that they do use aftermarket cheap parts. Now for the 32 inch, press the power button, the light comes on, the tv screen itself does not not. You have to unplug the whole unit, wait a minute and try again. When it does finally decide to come on, the screen blinks and pops for about a minute. Also, when it does all of this, the sound is poppy and there is about three inch white line across the middle of the screen. Haven't sent it in for repair yet because I am waiting for the other one to get back.

I called again in 3 weeks and got the same answer . . . 2 weeks. At 4 weeks I called again only to get the same rout answer . . . 2 weeks. Asking for a manager got me no further. 2 weeks must be a plaque or motto on their walls. Calling at week 5 was like Groundhog day . . . Same useless answers . . . You guessed it 2 weeks. The question here is why was I told to send the unit back (on my dime) when they didn’t have any TV’s in stock. Plus they would replace my unit with a newer version on my unit namely FLM - 373B (also discontinued). See a pattern here? Circuit City and Best Buy no longer seem to carry Polaroid product . . . Smart on their managements part. Bad product reviews all over the net. Wish that I had seem them 2 years ago. Chapter 3, Finally, a manager stepped up with an offer to either send me a new 32 inch TV (obviously smaller then what I had originally) or a refund of only my $310. I took a 3rd option to wait 1 more week to see if the 37 inch TV’s came in. I called the following week to follow up to see if the TV was being sent out. I left a message for them to call me BEFORE they shipped the new TV as I needed to advise them that the TV was to be placed in a cabinet with a maximum of 36.5 inch width. While this information was in my increasingly large file . . . I was told that Polaroid had already sent a TV to me. They told me it was a 40 inch unit. OMG!!!! These people are dolts, fools, ignoramus or in serious need of a mental health professional. Today, per FedEx tracking the 40 inch TV should arrive which I am told to refuse and call Polaroid back with he tracking number to get my refund within 72 hours . . . That remains to be seen. Yesterday I bought a new TV at Costco and got a jump from 720p to 1080p 37 for HALF what I originally paid for the Polaroid and a 2 year warranty for FREE. I WILL NEVER, NEVER BUY A POLAOID PRODUCT AGAIN!!!!!

Purchased a 37 inch Hi-Def LCD flat panel TV in 2-07, TV was a total failure on 1-1-08. After 3 attempts to replace the defective part the TV still did not work. No picture or sound, unit would not even turn on. Feb 26th it was agreed I would receive a new TV. The TV was on back order and they said it could take 10 to 15 business days for me to receive my TV. I called daily and spoke with customer support as well as their supervisors. I got the same thing EVERY TIME! I will send an emailand the tv is still on back order that is all I heard daily.

Not one time, after 4 promises to return my call after getting an update, did I receive a call back. I filed a complaint with the BBB, and contacted my local TV stations troubleshooter to help resolve this issue. I was repetedly told by Polaroid that they were within their 10 to 14 day period to still provide me a tv. Note: This was Polaroids policy and I did not agree with or accept this condition. 3-14-06 I called customer support and was told that the TV was still on back order and guess what...they would send an email to see why the delay which could take 2 to 3 days for a response. Unnaceptable. I contacted Brit Moore at the corporate office AGAIN (the first time his secratery returned my call, we are now 1 returned call to 4 not returned)

It is also important to note that the secratery said she would call me back THE SAME DAY which was 3-13-08 to give me a status update. SHE FAILED TO RETURN MY CALL! 3-14-08 Mr. Moore answered my call and said a TV was being released to me TODAY!!!!!!!!
I said that I either get it on 3-15-08 or we go to small claims court, that simple. He told me he would call and upgrade the shipping to overnight instead of two day and that I will have a 40 in. TV on Friday which will be 3-15-08. Two and a half months AFTER they were aware of their equipment failure. We will see.

The 37 LCD TV that I purchased less than a year ago broke 3 weeks ago. A new part was sent out to us and a technician came (took three weeks just for that). He replaced the part, and it did not work. Upon calling the company, he was told that they would need to resend the part which is on back order for 2-4 weeks and then another technician would be dispatched (also another 2-4 weeks after that).

The Sears technician told me that this is a very common problem with Polaroid TVs, and in fact because of this they no longer are selling this brand of TV. He also informed me that the next part most likely will not work, and I would be sent a new TV which would also take a few more weeks. I contacted Customer service to find out if anything else could be done and was told that they have protocols that had to be followed. They said they may be able to get someone out here sooner if they use a returned part that comes in. I feel that waiting 8 weeks for another defective product is excessive. I understand that it is just a TV, but it was a major purchase for my family. I feel that if there is no way to resolve this in a more timely manner, I should be given either a refund or a replacement TV. They know that this part is defective.

Other than having to purchase an old TV for $50, just to have something to watch for the next 8 weeks, our major problem is the hassle and run around we are getting from this company. We spent over $900 dollars for this TV.

After waiting 4-6 weeks for a replacement TV and not getting one, I finally settled with one of the managers that I would just like my refund back since my original TV was in backorder and was taking much too long to get to me. The manager (Joe) agreed to provide the refund as long as I provided a copy of the receipt. I faxed it over mid-January and called to confirm if they received it (which they did). After waiting 15 business days, I received nothing in the mail so I called to follow up on the status of my refund. They said if I do not receive anything by the 1st week of February to please give them a call. I did, and when I called they told me they needed another copy of the receipt since the one they received was inapplicable.

I was frustrated at this point because they already told me my refund was on it's way, and then I find out they needed another copy of the receipt. I sent that one via fax AND email, and the very next day and I confirmed with not one, but 2 managers, for confirmation of receipt.

Now after waiting 10 more business days, I still have not received anything in the mail. After doing yet ANOTHER follow-up, I am being told that they need another receipt. And now they are saying that I might not get the refund after all. This is ridiculous because I have a voicemail they left on my phone stating that they have received all the necessary documents in order to process my refund and that it will be taken care of. I am beyond frustrated, and all I want is my refund, with this problem resolved. I would also like to know if I am liable for any type of compensation as this has been going on for over 3 months now, and I am at loss for the refund of $400.00 that is due and payable to me.

Above anything else I am stressed out from having to continually follow-up with the call center without having this issue resolved. I'm very frustrated with Polaroid's customer service center. I've been getting the run-around and was told different things and promised my refund numerous times since the beginning of this year with no resolution. This is not the way to do business.
