Worst TV I have ever purchased or sat in front of. When it works, the picture is good. That's why I bought it and that it had a DVD player in it. The remote control must be 6" away in order to work. Yes, 6 inches away in order to even increase the volume. I will never buy a Polaroid product again, amen.

I had my 26" flatscreen LCD TV for about 3 years, and it is fried already. It just gets these vertical blue lines (about two to three large ones), and the rest of the screen went black. I bought it from Dell. Cost was approx. $500. Would be interested if a class action suit begins.

I have posted complaints about Polaroid and the lack of customer service they give. I have been in contact numerous times with Polaroid. My latest encounter was on 12/13/09. I purchased the control box for my 32" defective TV on 11/10/09. I was told that it would take about 6 to 10 days to receive it. I was told it would cost a total of $222.99 which included the part, shipping, $100 deposit which upon return of the old part, the $100 deposit would be credited to my credit card within 14 days of them receiving the old part.
My tracking records show that they received it on 11/30/09. I called the Polaroid phone # and talked to a CS manager. I asked him (Dave) when I could expect my deposit back. He acknowledged that they have received the return part, but could not return my deposit until the warehouse restocked it and send him an email notifying that it has been restocked. I informed him that they have had the return part for 12 days. How long does it take? He said, "About 2 weeks." I told him that I managed a warehouse for 12 yrs. and could not understand why it should take so long.
I did find out that when you call the Polaroid 800#, you are actually talking to a rep. from Summit Technologies, a company that Polaroid uses as a repair facility. I told the CS manager (Summit Technologies), Dave, that I've been in contact with a number of State and Federal agencies with regard to their business practices. I also informed him that if my $100 is not credited by Monday, 12/14/09, I would re-contact the Attorney General's Office (MN) personally. Ironically I received a letter from the AG of MN today saying that they have sent a letter to Polaroid expecting a written response from them to me and the AG office asap.
I'm already out $122.99, because the new part (which I was assured would be checked out before sending) is defective. I still have a useless TV. We, as consumers, cannot let this go and be treated unfairly. I have been in contact with the following State and Federal Agencies and suggest you all do the same: BBB online, FTC online, MN Attorney General's Office, Consumer Protection Agency, USA.gov. Call your local news stations consumer investigator rep. Call anyone you think of that can help us. I don't like being ripped off especially during these tough economic times. To me, it's not so much the money as it is the principle. Remember, you're dealing with two companies, Polaroid & Summit Technologies.

Well, my Polaroid television purchased from Circuit City blew out on me for the second time this year. I sent it to Polaroid in October of 2007 and I have not seen my TV since. I was under warranty and after talking to a slew of people and being told "We're trying to fix this issue," I have not received a TV or a check for the amount I paid. I'm really paraphrasing the situation here but it seems as though no one keeps good notes and they can change policies in the same week they tell me that they would cut me a check. I'm still without that TV or the money I paid for it. Also Circuit City is now out of business. I did happen to get a proof of purchase from Circuit City before they closed. Polaroid has horrible customer service and as soon as I finish my courses for school, I will be contacting someone about taking legal actions. I have names of the more than twenty people I have talked to from Polaroid.

We bought a Polaroid 37-inch LCD 373b from Walmart in 2007. now it will get the blue light but no picture. We had two other TVs we had to bring back to Walmart which were Sonys because there was a white dot on the flat screen. They told us to take this one as an upgrade. Little did we know they gave a lemon. There should be something we should all be able to do. $1000 is a lot to throw away! I am so disappointed.

Last June 2009, I purchased a 15.6" Polaroid LCD TV for my bedroom. After six months of normal use (about 1-2 hours per evening), it abruptly stopped working. I used the remote control and the Polaroid logo appeared but the screen went black and there was no sound. My husband brought up our 20+ 13" analogue TV which is still working. I tried to call a number on the paperwork but there was only a tone (no, it wasn't a fax #). Buyer beware!

All I can say is wow. I went online to see if I could find an answer for my problems with my Polaroid 40-inch LCD TV and I cannot believe how many complaints are out there. No one seems to be doing anything about it, especially if it could burn your house down or hurt someone physically. Mine has the same problems as everyone else - high pitch noise, vertical lines, not turning on or off, etc. So far no physical damage, thankfully, because we have been leaving it on just so we wouldn't have that high pitch noise every time we turned the TV back on. Now it is just getting worse. Really, now Polaroid is bankrupt and there is nowhere for all these people to turn to for a remedy? Not one of us can afford this to have to go out and get a new TV, but nothing will be done. What if you don't have the receipt anymore? That means we are out of almost $1,000 for the bigger TVs. Ridiculous that people and businesses get away with this.

I've been dealing with a Polaroid TV that turns on only to see blue light, no picture. And not only does it not turn on, when it finally does, it flickers on and off and will cut off a second time and takes about ten minutes to turn on. And last but not least, the picture is gone, blue light stays on but there is no picture. I tried to make contact with Polaroid and keep getting run around.

I purchased a Polaroid 37" (FLM-3700b) and it started giving me problems. When I turned it on, the red light would turn blue, but nothing would come on the screen. I discovered that if I gave it time to warm up and then unplugged it, and tried again, it would turn on and there would be a high pitched whining noise that would eventually go away. That was last March. When it started to get cold this autumn, I was unable to get it to warm up anymore. So once I got it on, I left it that way. Then one day it just stopped working altogether. I called the tech support line and they told me that it would be $250 to fix. I had to pay them up front and they sent me a part.
It took one week for the part to arrive. Then I had to wait for a technician to call me. That took another week. I set up an appointment and he came the next day. He installed the part and it still would not work. He called Tech Support and they determined that they sent the wrong part to me, and now I have to wait on a new part to be sent out, and then another call from another technician. Even if they are able to make the television work again, it will only be under warranty for 30 days.

I bought the wonderful Black Friday special at Walmart two years ago, a Polaroid television, only $800. It only lasted two years; and already fried. No warranty, nothing. It goes to show Walmart is not so good at bargains, and that Polaroid should have stuck with cameras.

I went to turn on my Polaroid 37" TV (model FLM-373B) tonight and no picture or sound. The red light turned blue indicating it was on but nothing happened. It would not turn off by remote or manual. I had to unplug the TV. I went online with the intent of going to Polaroid's website to see if I could get any useful information to troubleshoot my problem. I was shocked to discover all the complaints listed for exactly what is happening with my TV. I am not going to waste my time contacting Polaroid or Wal-Mart about this since according to others, it does no good.
I purchased the TV from Wal-Mart on 02/17/07 for a total of $969.79. I have never had a problem with it before and have been quite happy with it until now. I bought Polaroid because of the name and also for the amount of TV I got for the price. TV's have really come down in price since then. Instead of trying to repair, I'll save up for a new TV that will not be a Polaroid.

Well, unfortunately, we purchased a 40" TV in 1/09 from Wal-Mart because I work there. About six months later, the TV showed green bars. So, we called Polaroid, which told us to fax a copy of the receipt to the warranty company (Proview Technology, Inc.), which in return would send a packing slip for UPS. So, we bubble-wrapped, used reinforced cardboard, and wire-taped to pack the screen; and we shipped it out to CA. Well, after 27 days of shipping (7/21-8/17), the package arrived at the warranty center in CA and sat for one week (8/17-8/24) before anyone bothered to open it. Proview then opened the packaged to find the screen had been cracked. Proview then called me and said that they would file a claim with UPS but that if it's denied, there was nothing they could do.
Well, the claim was denied and we have no TV and are out all the money. Not only will I never buy a Polaroid product again in my young life, but I will advocate against this company to all of my friends and family in the future. I was shocked to find the reviews on here but comforted to know I am not the only one. I am trying to figure out if it is worth my time and energy to pursue this with the company or to file a legal suit.

Now they want to charge another $225 to fix it. I have written the company and was given the "oh well" speech. We need to stand up together and let them know we are not happy and will do something for the money and the hassle we have with the company. Good luck!

I bought a TLA-01911-c 19" LCD (Polaroid) TV and used it for about 10 hours before it went completely out - no sound, no pic, nothing. So, I called Polaroid up and by pressing 3 on the phone, takes you to Summit Tech. Group. Nick ** told me for $130.00, they could repair the TV following the next email and after payment, I would be receiving another RMA email on where to send the TV for repair. That was on Aug. 15, 2009, when I made the payment. The next day, I got another email saying that he didn't get my address, so I emailed that to him. After waiting a couple of days for the RMA mail, I decided to call. These are the excuses I've been getting since Aug. 20, 2009.
Call 2: No RMA mails sent out because people were sick.
Call 3: They were going to escalate my order.
Call 4: They haven't received the verification to send out an RMA mail to me.
Call 5: By this time, it's Sept 2, 2009. They had me down in their computer as having a 40" LCD and that they don't repair those anymore. So, I guess they were just going to take my money and not get in touch with me. So after telling them that all my printouts from their office showed a 19" LCD, he took down the information again and said that I should be getting an RMA email within 24 hours. That should be on Sept. 3, 2009.
Yeah, right. I know when I'm being jerked around. I know right now that I'll never buy anything from Polaroid for as long as I live.

I purchased a Polaroid LCD HDTV 32" flat screen less than 2 years ago. Purchase was made online through Home Depot, cost $900.00. Manufacture date on TV is August 2006, unable to power up, no lights or sounds or anything. I contacted their support division and was informed that problem is worldwide and can be fixed for an additional $225.00? So, I have paid $450.00 a year to basically rent a TV from Polaroid. This problem is well documented on the internet, so many consumers as myself are left with garbage, and no answers.
Why doesn't the manufacturer stand by their product? Is there any recourse I can take as far as filing a lawsuit on behalf of myself and all who have been hoodwinked by Polaroid? Now I’m stuck watching a 13", 15 year old TV. I'm so frustrated when I hear Polaroid, my blood pressure elevates very quickly and I experience so much anxiety that it always turns into a headache. I contacted Polaroid and they have changed their support over, so they don't have a record of any past phone calls or anything that has happened previously. They pretty much said that since we didn't purchase the extended warranty, they only cover the first year, so I could pay $225, and they'd send somebody out to fix what was probably a problem with the motherboard. When I told him what brand, he told me not to waste my time or any more money, cannot get parts, and this brand is junk. I paid $700.00. I did not buy extended warranty. I thought the name Polaroid meant something. Polaroid does not seem to stand behind their product. I have been unable to reach them by phone or e-mail. Oh well, live and learn. Read reviews before you buy, and just because a company has the same name as companies that have been around since you were a kid, it does not mean it has the same quality and values and conducts business the same way as companies did years ago.

We purchased a 37-inch LCD Polaroid TV from Walmart on 2/9/07. We called then on 8/20/09 because the TV is making loud noises and not turning on properly. Customer service at Polaroid stated it would cost $225 to replace the control box. We paid $997 for this TV and had expected it to last much longer than just over 2 years. They could only guarantee a 90-day warranty after the replacement. I have read several complaints about this TV and didn't know if a class action suit has been started on this product. Is our only option to buy a new better TV?

I too have the same problem with my Polaroid. I turn it on and within five minutes of viewing it, it turns black and along with it comes a screeching noise that won't go away until you turn or disconnect it from the plug. I too thought it was my satellite. The only difference with me as of now is that once I unplug it, I can replug it and watch it as if nothing had ever happened. It only happens every time I turn it on after days or hours of it not being viewed. If anyone decides to file a suit, please let me know. I too will jump the bandwagon. No more Polaroid for me, ever again.

I purchased a 32" Polaroid flat screen TV at Wal-Mart on 06/26/08. The DVD player quit working. I called Polaroid on 06/05/09. They said to fax a copy of the receipt. I did that. I called to be sure they received it. They said they would send a new DVD player out right away and all we had to do was unplug the old one and plug in the new one. It was very simple to do. I called again on 06/15/09 because we didn't receive anything. It was scheduled to go out and I would receive it on 07/01/09. It didn't come again.
Bottom line is I called six times, was told five different dates it would go out, or I would receive it by, and it never happened. I have tried to call the last two days and their phone doesn't even ring. It makes this awful noise and disconnects. I paid $425 for this TV. The warranty is up now, but I called before it was up. This company is a rip off and I hope someone does something to stop them from doing these things to other people. We bought a 19" Polaroid HD in February 2008 with the intention of putting it in our motor home. We did not do that, and instead, we decided to use it in our bedroom. That was 4 months ago. From the time of purchase until it was turned on, it was over a year. And it never came out of the box till then either. The only time it was turned on was 10:00pm, and it's on for only a couple of hours each night. Yesterday, it was on for a few minutes in the morning, and then later on in the afternoon, when we went to turn it on, it wouldn't work - no standby light, no blue light, no picture...just nothing.
Trying to get info on their website is a joke. After reading many of the complaints, we have decided that Polaroid is not a quality product and we will never consider it again. We may as well have flushed the $300.00 down the drain. The people at Wal-Mart couldn't do any more than suggest sending it to the company with a letter of complaint. Think it will work?

Hold on to your hats, ladies and gents! I purchased a 19 inch Polaroid TV/DVD combo from Target in September 2008 and at the same time, a three-year extended warranty. By October, the DVD player had fizzled; it refused to play a thing. I exchanged the TV/DVD with Target because the breakdown occurred within their 90-day window for exchanges. This month, July 2009, the DVD player on the second TV stopped functioning. Again, it refuses to do anything with a DVD. It just clicks. I took my TV/DVD to the Target store. The clerk told me to go home and call the special three-year warranty number because it'd been over 90 days. I did. Once connected to the Target call center, I was told to call Polaroid because the malfunction occurred within the manufacturer's warranty period (a year).
Despite feeling passed off by Target at this juncture, my real complaint is the treatment I received by the Polaroid customer service. Initially, I was disconnected after 20 minutes on hold. Enter acerbic, short-tempered Polaroid minion. I could not find the model number in the places he told me to look. He said I should hang up and call back once I'd found it. I told him absolutely not, that I'd waited over half an hour to speak with someone. I found their model number and read it aloud. He said that number did not exist. That's strange, I thought, because it's right in front of me, labeled on the back the TV. He finally realized that. Hey! This product is discontinued.
In order for Polaroid to send me a replacement DVD player (which I was told I would have to install myself!), they required my receipts be faxed or scanned. I told him I had neither a copier nor a scanner, at which point, he said, "Don't you have a library or a Kinko's?" He gave me the e-mail I needed to send the scanned images and that was the end of our wonderful time together. During this conversation, I asked to speak with his supervisor three times because I felt attacked and pressured - three times. Each time, he refused to connect me on the grounds that this was not an appropriate matter for the supervisor. Enraged, I went back to the Target store and spoke with a manager, Alexis, who is actually a lovely woman. She called the three-year warranty call center. She provided them with all the necessary information (my receipt dates, my warranty number, assured them that the TV/DVD itself looked in good condition, etc.).
You might ask yourself why I still have this piece of junk lying in the trunk of my car? Well, because the product is discontinued (a silver lining to the story!), the man at the call center needed permission to override the manufacturer's one year warranty. This is a confusing turn, isn't it? Since I also have a Target brand warranty, shouldn't they just take care of it? That's right. A manufacturer's one year warranty and the three-year store-bought extended warranty mean nothing. I have to wait 3-5 business days to hear if my issue has been granted an override. I don't even have a claim number. Despite asking for one, the man was unable to even create a claim without this override. I will never, ever purchase a Polaroid-made product. I will also begin referring to them as Hemorrhoid. Tell your friends.

I later found out that Maine has an implied warranty law that runs for four years. It is not well known so evidently, I am the only one that has complained about Polaroid. If they have 10 or more complaints against a company then lawyers are brought in however until then, a volunteer mediator is assigned who writes letters and makes phone calls in your behalf. So, if anyone out there lives in Maine and has an issue with Polaroid, e-mail the attorneys office (address is on the maine.gov site), you can download the official complaint form, send it in and they will contact you. Consequence: about $746.00.

Problem with DVD player in 19" LCD/DVD combo (1913-TDXB) - The DVD has stopped working. When we insert a DVD, it makes odd noises and does not play the DVD. If our TV cannot be fixed, they could send us a new or remanufactured TV or possibly a different TV altogether. I brought a Polaroid TV on Black Friday November 2007. The TV started making a static sound and I really didn’t pay any attention to it. Then on Saturday, July 11th, the TV stops working all together. Polaroid said I could have it fixed for $225.00. I do not have $225.00 to give to Polaroid because I paid $500.00 and some odd change for the TV to begin with. I am a single parent who does not have money to throw away. Please tell me why these people are still in business to rip off the consumers who purchase their product. They should be shameful and give back all the consumers who were fooled believing they had purchased a good television. I am truly upset with this company and would like to be compensated or given a new TV.

I will never purchase Polaroid again. It is a terrible thing to spend good money on and then have nothing to show for it in a year.

I purchased a 19" Polaroid TV/DVD/USB Combo. The DVD ceased to function in 4 months. I sent it for repair to their subcontractor warranty company, Proview. They returned it still broken. Proview then never answered their phone. I called for months. They never responded to certified mail or e-mails. Polaroid would not handle the problem and kept dumping it on Proview, which never answered their phone. Polaroid does not honor their warranty.

I purchased a Polaroid 46" widescreen LCD television about a year ago. Every time we hooked a laptop to it, it would shut off. It would come back on if we unplugged and plugged it back in. Yesterday, it shut off for good. After reading all of the other complaints about Polaroid televisions, I hope there will be a lawsuit or some way to get our money back. We can't afford another one, so we are now watching a tiny little TV moved in from the bedroom. It's a 6-year-old "off brand" that still works like a charm!

I bought a Polaroid FLM-373B LCD TV from Wal-Mart in September of 2007. In September of 2008, the TV started to make loud crackling sounds and a blank screen when we turned it on. We called Polaroid and their supervisor there insisted that the TV was no longer under warranty because there was no proof of purchase. I explained that the receipt was faded. She then made the remark, "I could have bought it off at eBay or a garage sale". What the **! She also stated they did not have to do recall on the TV until the TV had a 6% failure rate. When I asked how they calculated the failure rate. She stated by the TV repairs sent in to their company. I then stated, "What about all the TVs out of warranty?" She would not give me an answer.
I personally am shocked since Polaroid used to be a name you could trust! I do know the company was sold years ago. I guess the consumers do not mean anything to them anymore! So I say, boycott Polaroid! You can not trust them and they put out ** on the market that they refuse to make right! Do not buy Polaroid! You will be disappointed!
I lost $997.00 spent on the TV, and caused a lot of aggravation, that being a consumer did not deserve.

I purchased a 15-inch Polaroid TV in November of 2008. This was for my 5th wheel. The TV was not installed, and when it was in March 2009, as most people do, I tossed the box and don't have a clue where the receipt is. The TV started not coming on after the first few times I turned it on. Unplugging it seemed to work for a while, but soon it would not work at all. It was just as all the other complaints, the blue light and no picture. I figured I was just stuck with the piece of **. I stopped last night and bought another 15-inch Polaroid because it fit so well. This is from Wal-Mart. After I got home, I Googled Polaroid and found this site. Less than 3 hours after I bought this TV, I returned the piece of junk for a full refund. I would like to thank all that wrote in and complained because of them I was able to get all my money back and not be stuck with a piece of junk. I hope Polaroid rots in ** for the grief they have caused all of you people.

I purchased 2 years ago a 42" Polaroid LCD, and as of tonight, it no longer works. It all started when the TV would shut down after connecting a laptop via the VGA input. After around 10 seconds, the entire TV shuts off. In addition to this issue, a loud noise, like an alarm/screeching sound, will blast for a second and scare everyone in the house at random times. This has been going on for at least a few months. We can't seem to see why that would happen. Another issue is that after turning the television and waiting around 1 minute, a high pitch sound stays on which is very annoying. This is a very bad television! I hope there is a class suit against Polaroid.

We purchased a new Polaroid FLM-373b in Feb. '07 for $997 from Wal-Mart. Three months out of the box, we had an issue with our TV not wanting to come on. We called Polaroid. They went through the troubleshooting process with us, asked us to go down and buy a new fuse to see if that was the issue. That did not work. They then sent out a new TV and only asked that I box up my old one and send it back. No credit card needed to do this. I was pleased. It took me approximately a year and a half to remove the plastic protective film from around the screen and it was just two weeks ago I tossed out the box thinking if it was going to go bad, it should have by now. But today, 2 and 1/2 years later after the original purchase, the same thing has happened to the replacement. Blue power light comes on, screen is black and no sound.
Thank goodness when we purchased the TV in the beginning, we purchased the Wal-Mart extra warranty. But this is still a major inconvenience. We are with out a TV on a holiday weekend and it will take up to 3-5 days to get the call tag/box to ship it to a service center then up to 10 days (business days no doubt) to get my TV back. If Polaroid knew there was a problem, they should have contacted all the consumers with all their TVs. This is a rotten way to do business. I am noticing a pattern with these TVs. Are they trying to drum up business? People who have these have no choice to fix then buy new? We don't have the money to purchase a new TV, although that we might have to put one on layaway just so a can get this piece of junk out of my house. I will never buy anything Polaroid again!

Upon returned, the original problem was not fixed. It came back with the frame being separated. I informed them and I had to send it back again. It came back with the same problem and was sent back again. The 3rd time returning it in, the power button wouldn’t turn on. I called and informed them of the problem. If I would have done my research sooner, I wouldn't have wasted $50.00 for a tech to come to my place to give me do a diagnostic for my 32" HD wide screen LCD television that I bought from Circuit City a little less than 2 years ago. My television has had the same problems that I have been reading about! I am furious and disappointed. I came home after work one evening and found that my TV would not turn on. The light remains red, but doesn't turn over to blue as it normally does and then the screen pops up. But this time, nothing. There's definitely something shady about the manufacturer. We should be compensated somehow.
I called customer service and they apologized and only offered me to have a tech come and fix the TV for $275. I'd rather save the other half and purchase a new television. Now I definitely know to stray away from purchasing any more of their product. It's also disappointing to know that I worked a part-time job to furnish my apartment with luxuries like these, but to find out that my hard earned money was not worth Polaroid's time and loyalties they claim to provide.

I purchased a Polaroid TV in November 2007 from Circuit City. It was a 40-inch LCD TV. The model number is 4011-TLXB. Circuit City sales representative asked me to purchase an extended warranty, noting that the product only has a 12-month warranty from the manufacturer. I said to my self that if the TV lasts at least 3-4 years, I am good. I thought that the brand Polaroid would be decent. I declined the extended warranty. My parents had TVs that have lasted 20 years without a problem!
The TV worked fine for 15 months. There were occasional small things--image freezing, etc.--but nothing too huge. I should've known then and called it in, because the TV has a 1-year manufacturer warranty.
One day, I came home, and the TV doesn't turn on. I called Polaroid customer service, and they told me sorry that this happened and that it's highly unlikely for the TV has a low failure rate but they offered a special solution for me--to pay $250 to get a new brain box for the TV. This is ridiculous. I will have to buy the after-warranty solution, but I worry now that it will be a short-term fix for 6-12 months and will have to do it again. Clearly, by having this solution ready, they have to be experiencing many failures and there is something "fishy" there. I asked for the failure rate data, and they will not release it.

Now, I cannot use my TV because after about 5 minutes on, this high pitch screeching alert sound comes on and stays on. After reading the experiences of other buyers of this television, it appears this TV has a life expectancy of less than 3 years. I believe this product has been poorly designed and made. From others' experiences as well as mine, it is without a doubt; Polaroid was well aware early on of the defective product and should have issued a recall.
I purchased this television for $913.62, with tax $1,170.55. Even without the economic state of today, to purchase another replacement set for a known defective product is not only a waste of hard earned money, but fraud. He first had me give him the make and model numbers off the back (which I did). He then told me that I would have to ship it back to them and pay for the shipping. He said to tape a copy of the purchase receipt to the TV (which I did) and make sure the power cord was with the TV.
I was told to ship it to this name and address **. He gave me a number to return it with. It is RMA 150033. I did all of this and have sent it with delivery confirmation.
