Worst TV I have ever purchased or sat in front of. When it works, the picture is good. That's why I bought it and that it had a DVD player in it. The remote control must be 6" away in order to work. Yes, 6 inches away in order to even increase the volume. I will never buy a Polaroid product again, amen.

I had my 26" flatscreen LCD TV for about 3 years, and it is fried already. It just gets these vertical blue lines (about two to three large ones), and the rest of the screen went black. I bought it from Dell. Cost was approx. $500. Would be interested if a class action suit begins.

I have posted complaints about Polaroid and the lack of customer service they give. I have been in contact numerous times with Polaroid. My latest encounter was on 12/13/09. I purchased the control box for my 32" defective TV on 11/10/09. I was told that it would take about 6 to 10 days to receive it. I was told it would cost a total of $222.99 which included the part, shipping, $100 deposit which upon return of the old part, the $100 deposit would be credited to my credit card within 14 days of them receiving the old part.

My tracking records show that they received it on 11/30/09. I called the Polaroid phone # and talked to a CS manager. I asked him (Dave) when I could expect my deposit back. He acknowledged that they have received the return part, but could not return my deposit until the warehouse restocked it and send him an email notifying that it has been restocked. I informed him that they have had the return part for 12 days. How long does it take? He said, "About 2 weeks." I told him that I managed a warehouse for 12 yrs. and could not understand why it should take so long.

I did find out that when you call the Polaroid 800#, you are actually talking to a rep. from Summit Technologies, a company that Polaroid uses as a repair facility. I told the CS manager (Summit Technologies), Dave, that I've been in contact with a number of State and Federal agencies with regard to their business practices. I also informed him that if my $100 is not credited by Monday, 12/14/09, I would re-contact the Attorney General's Office (MN) personally. Ironically I received a letter from the AG of MN today saying that they have sent a letter to Polaroid expecting a written response from them to me and the AG office asap.

I'm already out $122.99, because the new part (which I was assured would be checked out before sending) is defective. I still have a useless TV. We, as consumers, cannot let this go and be treated unfairly. I have been in contact with the following State and Federal Agencies and suggest you all do the same: BBB online, FTC online, MN Attorney General's Office, Consumer Protection Agency, USA.gov. Call your local news stations consumer investigator rep. Call anyone you think of that can help us. I don't like being ripped off especially during these tough economic times. To me, it's not so much the money as it is the principle. Remember, you're dealing with two companies, Polaroid & Summit Technologies.

Well, my Polaroid television purchased from Circuit City blew out on me for the second time this year. I sent it to Polaroid in October of 2007 and I have not seen my TV since. I was under warranty and after talking to a slew of people and being told "We're trying to fix this issue," I have not received a TV or a check for the amount I paid. I'm really paraphrasing the situation here but it seems as though no one keeps good notes and they can change policies in the same week they tell me that they would cut me a check. I'm still without that TV or the money I paid for it. Also Circuit City is now out of business. I did happen to get a proof of purchase from Circuit City before they closed. Polaroid has horrible customer service and as soon as I finish my courses for school, I will be contacting someone about taking legal actions. I have names of the more than twenty people I have talked to from Polaroid.

We bought a Polaroid 37-inch LCD 373b from Walmart in 2007. now it will get the blue light but no picture. We had two other TVs we had to bring back to Walmart which were Sonys because there was a white dot on the flat screen. They told us to take this one as an upgrade. Little did we know they gave a lemon. There should be something we should all be able to do. $1000 is a lot to throw away! I am so disappointed.

Last June 2009, I purchased a 15.6" Polaroid LCD TV for my bedroom. After six months of normal use (about 1-2 hours per evening), it abruptly stopped working. I used the remote control and the Polaroid logo appeared but the screen went black and there was no sound. My husband brought up our 20+ 13" analogue TV which is still working. I tried to call a number on the paperwork but there was only a tone (no, it wasn't a fax #). Buyer beware!

All I can say is wow. I went online to see if I could find an answer for my problems with my Polaroid 40-inch LCD TV and I cannot believe how many complaints are out there. No one seems to be doing anything about it, especially if it could burn your house down or hurt someone physically. Mine has the same problems as everyone else - high pitch noise, vertical lines, not turning on or off, etc. So far no physical damage, thankfully, because we have been leaving it on just so we wouldn't have that high pitch noise every time we turned the TV back on. Now it is just getting worse. Really, now Polaroid is bankrupt and there is nowhere for all these people to turn to for a remedy? Not one of us can afford this to have to go out and get a new TV, but nothing will be done. What if you don't have the receipt anymore? That means we are out of almost $1,000 for the bigger TVs. Ridiculous that people and businesses get away with this.

I purchased a Polaroid 37" (FLM-3700b) and it started giving me problems. When I turned it on, the red light would turn blue, but nothing would come on the screen. I discovered that if I gave it time to warm up and then unplugged it, and tried again, it would turn on and there would be a high pitched whining noise that would eventually go away. That was last March. When it started to get cold this autumn, I was unable to get it to warm up anymore. So once I got it on, I left it that way. Then one day it just stopped working altogether. I called the tech support line and they told me that it would be $250 to fix. I had to pay them up front and they sent me a part.

It took one week for the part to arrive. Then I had to wait for a technician to call me. That took another week. I set up an appointment and he came the next day. He installed the part and it still would not work. He called Tech Support and they determined that they sent the wrong part to me, and now I have to wait on a new part to be sent out, and then another call from another technician. Even if they are able to make the television work again, it will only be under warranty for 30 days.

I went to turn on my Polaroid 37" TV (model FLM-373B) tonight and no picture or sound. The red light turned blue indicating it was on but nothing happened. It would not turn off by remote or manual. I had to unplug the TV. I went online with the intent of going to Polaroid's website to see if I could get any useful information to troubleshoot my problem. I was shocked to discover all the complaints listed for exactly what is happening with my TV. I am not going to waste my time contacting Polaroid or Wal-Mart about this since according to others, it does no good.

I purchased the TV from Wal-Mart on 02/17/07 for a total of $969.79. I have never had a problem with it before and have been quite happy with it until now. I bought Polaroid because of the name and also for the amount of TV I got for the price. TV's have really come down in price since then. Instead of trying to repair, I'll save up for a new TV that will not be a Polaroid.

We purchased a Polaroid 37 in LCD HDTV(FLM-373b) from Walmart in January of 2007 for a price of about 1000.00 after taxes. The TV was great until about July of 2009 when it started making high pitched sounds when the T.V. was first turned on. That eventually prompted me to call Polaroid and they told me to fix the problem, it would cost 225.00. After this call, the T.V. would come and go. We would deal with the problem by unplugging the T.V. for about 30 seconds at a time. This worked for about two weeks until it eventually started getting multi-colored vertical lines when it was turned on. I called the company back and considered the 225.00 price to be a possible remedy considering the original price of the product. When I spoke with Polaroid they the second time, they requested that I take pictures of these vertical lines for their technician to look at, so I then turned the t.v. back on and NOTHING! the blue light indicator was on, but there was nothing on the screen. I then called them back and explained this, but they still wanted me to take pictures of a blank screen for them in 3 different angles, so I did this. I was then told that a technician would be getting back with me, and of course I waited 3 business days and still nothing, I then called them back, and they said their technician is "away and will call me back". Frustrated, I called and asked for a supervisor and they claimed there was no supervisor available. After asking why there was no supervisor available, I offered to wait on the phone until there was one available, and then was hung up on by the rep who answered the call. Fed up, I went to a local Best Buy Geek Squad agent and they politely charged me 35.00 to have it looked at in one of their service centers, claiming the 35.00 would go towards the service, or will be refunded if they were not able to fix it. I was updated the next week by the Geek Squad claiming the part was not able to be ordered because Polaroid would not release the part to them. So I am now on my way back to Best buy to pick up my product that cannot be fixed except by a company that I tried to work with, but hung up on me for asking for a supervisor. Upon researching online, it seems as though this problem with this product is so common and familiar, that I feel the need to share and get a resolve.

I have posted a complaint on this web site on Nov.10th. I reluctently went ahead and ordered the control box for my 32" TV. I received it on Nov.18th. I called my friend who does this kind of work to come and install the control box, which took aproximently 10 to 15 min's. The picture was dark so he tried everything to to get a clear picture. He even checked my cable which was fine. He suggested that I call Poaroid which I did the next day. The girl seemed in a hurry to get off the phone so she suggested that I try a couple of proceedures as she talked me through them.It came apparent that it was not going to work. She told me there was nothing she could do and that since I did not want to use their in-house service there was no warranty on the replacement part. My friend told me to take it to a local repair shop. The guy there turned it on and imediately said that the VIDEO, AUDIO board is defective. He has been repairing these TV's quite a bit. He took the back cover of the control box and pointed to a tiny area of the board that shows burnt marks. He said that it needed another control box. He said that Polaroid refurbishes old boards that are sent back. I called polaroid and was told no refund and that I would have to wait at least for a couple of weeks before I would get my $100.00 Deposit back. So as it stands, I'm out $222.99 and with a TV as useless as before. I'm calling not only my local DA office, but also MN attorney generals office and suggest anyone with a Polaroid TV do the same. I was disappointed that it sent me to a site that wanted to charge me for "correcting advice". I do not believe I should pay anyone anything since I bought this item in good faith. ( I purchased it from our local Wal-mart which I believe no longer carries the Polariod TV brand) Polariod should have stuck with its cameras..its a shame this company was willing to trade its earlier reputation on a fast buck. Consumers' long memories of a quality product name can easily be exchanged when greed is recognized. Consumers made this company and they can "pull the plug" (no pun intended) on Polariod.

Well we bought a Polaroid TV with built in DVD player Nov 2, 2008. Within a few months the DVD player stopped reading DVD's and would make a clicking noise. After waiting on hold for close to an hours they told me I had to pay to ship it back. Over a month later I called and waited on hold about another hour to be told I never sent it in. So when I told them I had proof from the post office I got a new DVD player in the mail within a week. Now, 4 days after my 1 year warranty the "new" DVD player goes out again. (Same clicking noise as before and then says "No Disk".) So after waiting on hold 20 min. I get a guy and he tells me I've never called in before and when I tell him it shouldn't matter he takes my name and address and then puts me on hold for another 15 minutes before I have to hang up. After reading other complaints I'm waiting to see how much longer until the screen goes out completely. What a rip off!

We finally found a repair shop that would deal with Polaroid TV's and it took him 1 week to even get Polaroid to give him a live person to talk with. They told him all 4 boards needed to replaced, when he tried to tell them it was only 1 board that needed to be replaced, they would only sell all 4 together. I have sent several e-mails and called several times, but I have a job and only 1 hour for lunch, so calling them all the time and being on hold 2 hours at a time doesn't fit my schedule. I called Polaroid Cust. Service on 08/28/09 for a problem with a tv. This was under warranty. After doing everything asked they said they would send me out the part and then would setup a service call. I received the part on 10/15/09. After talking to the support group at 866-289-5168 on that thursday they assured me that a technical group would call me within 3-5 business days to setup a service call. Today is the 26th of October. I called them once again today and talked to the same manager (Nick G.). They keep giving me the run around. They claim they have no contact the the technical company that will come out and install the part. I feel I have been very patient since my tv has been out since 08/28/09 and it is now 2 months to fix a warranty part. The support group manager claims they will call me within the next three to four days now. Even though he claimed on last thursday the 22nd of October that after the day of me getting the part they would call within 3-5 business days. This is the second time that this tv has gone bad 09/06/08. The first time they replaced a part on March 10, 2008. Now it does not work again.
Today 10/28/09: A technician showed up at my house at about 11:00 today. He saw that the TV worked but would flicker when there were light colors on the screen. He took the part that they sent to me and went to replace it. This part would not work due to a cable would not connect to the TV from the controller box. They instructed the technician to take the cable from the old controller and put it on the new controller so it would fit. Which the technician had done. After it was reassembled the technician had re-hung the TV and we turned it on to find that the TV screen looked like pastel colors. A whole different issue. The technician called the company (Polaroid) and explained what was going on. They instructed him to remove the controller board and reseat it again to make sure it was seated correctly. When the technician went to remove the board to reseat it he said the board was very, very hot. To hot to touch. He let the support technician on the phone know that the board was extremely hot. After trying to reseat and hang the TV once again the TV will now get no picture at all. He explained to the support line technician on the phone that there is no picture now and thinks that the board might have caused a different problem due to the heat of it. I then had to talk to the representative and he explained to me that there is nothing else they can do and that I am just out of the 719.32 TV that I purchased that is still under warranty. They will not send another technician out and that is it.

I purchased a 46" Polaroid TV on November 28, 2008. The TV has had some intermittant issues not turning off or turning on. But the real issue came recently (only 10 months later) when the cable man went to plug in the cable to the back of the TV. An electric current surged out of the back of the TV and burned his arm, fried the tip of the cable and the input receptor on the TV. Two cable men were present and both verified that it was the TV sending the power surge back out of the TV. This could have resulted in an even more serious injury, possible death, or a fire. They need to pull these off the market. The poor cable guy had red burns across the top of his forearm. I can certainly see why Polaroid is bankrupt. They obviously are using substandard parts. I would recommend anyone who has recently purchased this TV, returning it for a refund. It is only a matter of time before it goes out or someone gets hurt. Based upon the information I have seen, it doesn't appear contacting Polaroid would do any good.

Purchased Polaroid TV in 2006, TV no longer works, unit will not show picture when turned on, unit will not turn off, Polaroid will not help.
Purchased Polaroid 37" LCD Television in Fall 2006 Product# FLM-3732, Model 3700, Serial# K0612181920001519 at Circuit City in St. Petersburg FL. TV began having problems in November 2008. Screen developed patches near top that looked like drips and picture was discolored in vertical streaks in this area. When unit was turned on, the picture would not come on for several minutes even though power light showed unit was on (light turns blue). Problem got worse and worse and eventually picture would never come on. Unit also would not turn off...light would turn red when powered down, but unit would still run and you could still hear sound. Unit would not power down until unplugged. As problems worsened, a squealing sound would emit from the set which would only go away if the unit was unplugged. TV completely does not work now. I called Polaroid customer service in Spring 2009 wanting to get the unit repaired. Polaroid told me there were no local authorized repair facilities in my area. (After researching, I found out there are apparently no authorized repair facilities anywhere in the US). I was told that the unit was no longer under warranty but since they had had "gasket problems" with this particular set, they would graciously give me a new "rebuilt" set for $300 if I sent them my old TV and paid for shipping. They would not give me any guarantee or paperwork about the promised replacement. After researching online and reading numerous complaints about this model set and Polaroid, I opted not to send my unit out without assurances and have instead tried to get other options from Polaroid. My research also indicated that the problem is a power supply issue (causing the unit to not turn on or off) in addition to the screen defect. I also read in numerous places that other consumers sent their TV back to Polaroid and never received their replacement TV or repaired TV. This has made me extremely leery of sending my product in for replacement. To date, I have had no further luck with Polaroid customer service. I now have the same non-functioning $800 Polaroid paperweight other consumers purchased as well. Polaroid needs to stand by their products. I expect an expensive TV to last longer than 3 years. Please reference consumeraffairs.com at :(http://www.consumeraffairs.com/home_electronics/polaroid_tv.html)and read the 47 pages of similar complaints about Polaroid LCD TV's purchased at Circuit City and Wal-Mart (many the same exact model as mine).

Although it does not make Polaroid right, the problem you all are having can be fixed if you have 30 minutes and $15 dollars. I have a 37" Polaroid and experienced the same problems as everyone in this forum. I stumbled across a website that shows you how to fix the tv for good. I followed the instructions exactly and my tv has worked better than ever for the past 2 months. It seems that Polaroid, in an effort to save a couple bucks, used cheap capacitors in the tv's design. I went to radioshack and bought two capacitors for $1.50 each and a solder kit for $10.00, replaced the capacitors, and the tv works great. I am not an electrical engineer but the instructions on this website make it easy for anyone to do this. And to think I was ready to throw my Polaroid in the trash. As always, follow this website at your own risk as the circuit board is delicate and the tv could be ruined for good. But a tv repair shop will charge hundreds a for $15 fix. Now the tv they sent back is not the original nor is it a "better" unit than I had. I have POOR picture quality and they are telling me that the tuner in it is analog! Not what I purchased originally either. Now I am stuck with a tv that is poor in quality, made by a company no longer in business and dealing with a tech support company that will not work with me what so ever. I just want everyone one to know that Polaroid is a crappy company (well Summit Technology) who is not consumer friendly and don't even know of the products they are dealing with. Cause I was told first time that I needed a converter box to make my picture quality better then I was told I needed to hook it up to a cable box to see if that made a difference. Why do I need to hook up the tv when it is in the same exact place and hooked up to the same exact cable as the original tv and now I have bad picture quality? Is there any class action law suit filed against Polaroid? If so please post on here and I will check back.

Polaroid sent a new player which I swapped out with the nonworking player. Now, two years later, the TV is starting to go black after playing for about 2 hours. After reading a lot of the complaints, this seems to be a common problem with Polaroid. For what it costs to have it repair, a person would be money ahead to buy a new reliable product.

When I called Polaroid again in 2009, they were under new ownership but similar horrible service. I asked for their approved repair shops in My area (Dallas, TX) and they will not give me that because they want me to unpack the TV and try to go through one of their stupid procedures that I have tried in the past with no result. I think Wal-Mart should have exchanged these defective Flat TVs for better ones. I will definitely not buy another Polaroid product nor recommend it. At this time, I will not mind paying for the labor if the manufacturer will supply the parts. It's good business and a fair approach.

More than half the time as well if I try to mute it or turn it off or do anything with it, I have to unplug it from the back of the tv and then reinsert the plug and turn it back on before it will respond. I was looking up the contact information to contact Polaroid but now that I have read four pages of complaint I understand that will be worthless. I'll continue to use the TV just knowing that I need to go turn it on at least 45 minutes before I want to watch it. I'll eventually purchase a new one NOT POLAROID once this dies completely which sounds from the rest of the complaints that it won't be too long. Finally got someone on the phone today and I was told that they would not replace or repair because I was out of warranty. The charge for out of warranty replacement was $125.00. I was not out of warranty when I originally tried to contact them. They said it did not matter. Asked me where I purchased it from and I told them Aldi. They said we don't honor original manufacturer warranties if sold by certain stores. THis is not on their warranty paperwork. Had I known that their warranties would change at their discretion, I would never have purchased their products. Now I am a stuck with a non-working player and a worthless warranty. If the warranty is limited in such ways, should not this be listed on the warranty itself? All exclusions should be listed. This is very unfair. So, we called Polaroid, which told us to fax a copy of the receipt to the warranty company (Proview Technology, Inc.), which in return would send a packing slip for UPS. So, we bubble-wrapped, used reinforced cardboard, and wire-taped to pack the screen; and we shipped it out to CA. Well, after 27 days of shipping (7/21-8/17), the package arrived at the warranty center in CA and sat for one week (8/17-8/24) before anyone bothered to open it. Proview then opened the packaged to find the screen had been cracked. Proview then called me and said that they would file a claim with UPS but that if it's denied, there was nothing they could do.

Well, the claim was denied and we have no TV and are out all the money. Not only will I never buy a Polaroid product again in my young life, but I will advocate against this company to all of my friends and family in the future. Polaroid warranty book says no TV needed. What can be done? Wal-Mart should share some responsibility for this as it seems most people bought through Wal-Mart. They must know customers having problems with this company. Step up, Wal-Mart. You stomp others, now step on Polaroid and have them make this right.

We bought this TV just to use as a DVD playing television and we are now out almost $600. The warranty has now expired but we called many times before it expired without any calls back from Polaroid to us. What a joke! Maybe 3 months later, the DVD quit working again. I called Polaroid and they said that they had heard of this problem and that they would ship us a new DVD player to be installed, which is done easily. We received the new DVD and were able to install it and it then worked fine. In July 2009, the TV quit working all together! The TV was on and all of the sudden, it went black and has not been back on.

I contacted Polaroid and they have changed their support over, so they don't have a record of any past phone calls or anything that has happened previously. They pretty much said that since we didn't purchase the extended warranty, they only cover the first year, so I could pay $225, and they'd send somebody out to fix what was probably a problem with the motherboard. They did suggest that it might be a fuse, which I replaced and it was not. They have no remorse for their terrible product and mentioned that they have not had many problems with the TV. Hold on to your hats, ladies and gents! I purchased a 19 inch Polaroid TV/DVD combo from Target in September 2008 and at the same time, a three-year extended warranty. By October, the DVD player had fizzled; it refused to play a thing. I exchanged the TV/DVD with Target because the breakdown occurred within their 90-day window for exchanges. This month, July 2009, the DVD player on the second TV stopped functioning. Again, it refuses to do anything with a DVD. It just clicks. I took my TV/DVD to the Target store. The clerk told me to go home and call the special three-year warranty number because it'd been over 90 days. I did. Once connected to the Target call center, I was told to call Polaroid because the malfunction occurred within the manufacturer's warranty period (a year).

Despite feeling passed off by Target at this juncture, my real complaint is the treatment I received by the Polaroid customer service. Initially, I was disconnected after 20 minutes on hold. Enter acerbic, short-tempered Polaroid minion. I could not find the model number in the places he told me to look. He said I should hang up and call back once I'd found it. I told him absolutely not, that I'd waited over half an hour to speak with someone. I found their model number and read it aloud. He said that number did not exist. That's strange, I thought, because it's right in front of me, labeled on the back the TV. He finally realized that. Hey! This product is discontinued.

In order for Polaroid to send me a replacement DVD player (which I was told I would have to install myself!), they required my receipts be faxed or scanned. I told him I had neither a copier nor a scanner, at which point, he said, "Don't you have a library or a Kinko's?" He gave me the e-mail I needed to send the scanned images and that was the end of our wonderful time together. During this conversation, I asked to speak with his supervisor three times because I felt attacked and pressured - three times. Each time, he refused to connect me on the grounds that this was not an appropriate matter for the supervisor. Enraged, I went back to the Target store and spoke with a manager, Alexis, who is actually a lovely woman. She called the three-year warranty call center. She provided them with all the necessary information (my receipt dates, my warranty number, assured them that the TV/DVD itself looked in good condition, etc.).

You might ask yourself why I still have this piece of junk lying in the trunk of my car? Well, because the product is discontinued (a silver lining to the story!), the man at the call center needed permission to override the manufacturer's one year warranty. This is a confusing turn, isn't it? Since I also have a Target brand warranty, shouldn't they just take care of it? That's right. A manufacturer's one year warranty and the three-year store-bought extended warranty mean nothing. I have to wait 3-5 business days to hear if my issue has been granted an override. I don't even have a claim number. Despite asking for one, the man was unable to even create a claim without this override. I will never, ever purchase a Polaroid-made product. I will also begin referring to them as Hemorrhoid. Tell your friends.

On 3/2/07, I bought LCD HDTV from Wal-Mart, a Polaroid model FLM-373B, cost $897. It did not work out of the box, so I brought it back and swapped it for another one. This one worked fine for 13 months. On 4/4/08, TV screen black, power light on, cannot turn off TV by remote or on/off button on set. I contacted Polaroid and even though it was 13 months and warranty was 1 year, they agreed to send a tech out to fix it. On 4/14/08, tech brought module or motherboard but didn't fix the problem, so he arranged for us to get a replacement TV, and then send back the defective one in the same box. On 5/1/08, I sent back TV. Replacement worked fine. On 7/21/09, 14 months later, now that TV has the same exact problem, black screen with power light on and unable to shut off. I called Polaroid and after being on hold for exactly 30 minutes, "David" said the only thing they would do was send a tech out for $240 service call. I said, "This is unacceptable as the TV is clearly a defective model." He said that's all he would do.

This is, in effect, the 3rd TV of this model that has had the same issue. In the current economic times, I cannot spend another $900 or so for a comparable TV. I don't have it to spend. A search online shows that this problem is not uncommon - you can find hundreds of similar complaints. I believe this TV should be recalled and a refund given.

Now, when I turn on the TV, blue light is activated but there’s no picture or sound. I have to unplug and re-plug - usually it works. After reading previous comments, it is just a matter of time when that will no longer work. $999.00 is enough, don't you think? I do not have the money to replace the TV. I, like many unfortunate buyers, made the mistake of trusting that Polaroid could make a good product or would at least back up their product. My bad! I purchased the TV/DVD 19" combo. The DVD, like many others I have read about, died after very little use.

Problem with DVD player in 19" LCD/DVD combo (1913-TDXB) - The DVD has stopped working. When we insert a DVD, it makes odd noises and does not play the DVD. I just found the warranty and realize that you don't support your product past 90 days. I've learned a lesson here. I will never buy another Polaroid product again and will share my bad fortune with everyone I communicate with on the internet. The store I purchased this thing from went out of business. Is there anywhere that I can go locally to get parts or repair? If not, does this device accept an external DVD player?

So, the only response I have received is the automated response saying they received my request. I haven't heard from them since. After reading many of the complaints, I guess it doesn't matter, because Polaroid does not support their product. I, like many others, will never buy a Polaroid product of any kind. It now has three other dots at the top of the screen with others starting. Upon reading the warranty, it says that we would have to send our TV in and pay for the shipping. If our TV cannot be fixed, they could send us a new or remanufactured TV or possibly a different TV altogether. We do not feel that to make us pay for shipping or to give us a remanufactured or different TV is very fair. If we wanted a used or different TV, we would have bought one like that. We purchased a new Polaroid FLM-373b in Feb. '07 for $997 from Wal-Mart. Three months out of the box, we had an issue with our TV not wanting to come on. We called Polaroid. They went through the troubleshooting process with us, asked us to go down and buy a new fuse to see if that was the issue. That did not work. They then sent out a new TV and only asked that I box up my old one and send it back. No credit card needed to do this. I was pleased. It took me approximately a year and a half to remove the plastic protective film from around the screen and it was just two weeks ago I tossed out the box thinking if it was going to go bad, it should have by now. But today, 2 and 1/2 years later after the original purchase, the same thing has happened to the replacement. Blue power light comes on, screen is black and no sound.

Thank goodness when we purchased the TV in the beginning, we purchased the Wal-Mart extra warranty. But this is still a major inconvenience. We are with out a TV on a holiday weekend and it will take up to 3-5 days to get the call tag/box to ship it to a service center then up to 10 days (business days no doubt) to get my TV back. If Polaroid knew there was a problem, they should have contacted all the consumers with all their TVs. This is a rotten way to do business. I am noticing a pattern with these TVs. Are they trying to drum up business? People who have these have no choice to fix then buy new? We don't have the money to purchase a new TV, although that we might have to put one on layaway just so a can get this piece of junk out of my house. I will never buy anything Polaroid again!

My parents had TVs that have lasted 20 years without a problem!

The TV worked fine for 15 months. There were occasional small things--image freezing, etc.--but nothing too huge. I should've known then and called it in, because the TV has a 1-year manufacturer warranty.

One day, I came home, and the TV doesn't turn on. I called Polaroid customer service, and they told me sorry that this happened and that it's highly unlikely for the TV has a low failure rate but they offered a special solution for me--to pay $250 to get a new brain box for the TV. This is ridiculous. I will have to buy the after-warranty solution, but I worry now that it will be a short-term fix for 6-12 months and will have to do it again. I went to Walmart but they would do nothing and said that I had to go to the supplier. The TV warranty is still good until 7/8/09, so I called the customer service number: 1-888-896-9859. I was kept on hold for 30 minutes, when finally, a man came on and said that he was a service rep. I told him my problem. He first had me give him the make and model numbers off the back (which I did). He then told me that I would have to ship it back to them and pay for the shipping. He said to tape a copy of the purchase receipt to the TV (which I did) and make sure the power cord was with the TV.

I was told to ship it to this name and address **. He gave me a number to return it with. It is RMA 150033. I did all of this and have sent it with delivery confirmation. Then, I received a notice from parcel post saying that they attempted to deliver but couldn't. So it is at the post office in Walnut, Ca and they have been notified to pick it up by 15 days. If they don't, it will come back.

What do I do? It cost me a lot of money to send it out there from Illinois. We are a retired couple living on a fixed income. Something needs to be done about Polaroid cheating people out of money. Is there not one good attorney out there who will stand up for senior citizens and low-income people being cheated out of money--just because they don't have the money to pay attorney fees?

I purchased a 37" LCD from Circuit City for $800. After about one year, pixelation began randomly and still continues. Now that Circuit City is out of business, a continuous high pitched sound just started coming from the TV and will not stop. After reading some of the comments here, I will not try to have it fixed. Friends laughed at me for buying a Polaroid and based upon the Polaroid name, I thought I had a good product. That was then, this is now. This is definitely not a good product.

We purchased our Polaroid TV about 3 years ago. This past week, it would not turn on. We flipped the surge protector switch off and back on and the TV came back on. This has happened for three days in succession, and yesterday, it went out for good. It will not turn on at all. I agree with all these other people with Polaroid TV issues. There should be a lawsuit for a manufacturer that is selling such lousy products.
