I purchased a 32 inch Polaroid TV in 1/1/08 7. Had problems right away. The remote didn't work. Walmart said I could either return the TV, or buy a universal. Which I did, and it didn't work. By this time, Walmart did send me another remote. I now have 3 remotes but only one would work at a time. I would switch between the 1st and 3rd. Eventually neither would work and I would have to re program one of them. After 2 years of this, the screen went black. I had audio, but no picture. I called Polaroid over 6 times and was told to buy a convertor for $200.00. I filed a complaint with the bbb and also with the atty general of mass, Martha **. I called Polaroid one last time on 8/16/11 and talked to a Mark, who told me I needed to buy a converter. I said that wouldn't work because I threw the piece of ** away and got a Toshiba.

I purchased the TLX 04240B 42" from Wal-Mart on Black Friday two years ago. It had good price, good specs, etc. Now, I turn it on and picture is present for maybe 10 minutes then goes black with sound only. Black Friday, black screen! Doesn't sound like it is worth wasting any time or money to fix it based on what I see here. I learned my lesson: If it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn't.

I bought a Polaroid tla-0464c TV around in July or August 2007 and it has broken every single year almost to the month. I had purchased the extended warranty, so they fixed it three times with a new control box but would not give me a different TV. Now Polaroid says I will have to buy a control box for $400 or so that obviously will only work for up to one year and then require another $400 or so replacement!

My Polaroid HDTV was purchased on Black Friday as well. It was a gift. But TVs should last more than 3 years. Yesterday I noticed the TV was left on for a few hours while we were gone. I turned it off then back on again only to watch the screen fade to black. So now there is no picture, but there is sound. It appears I have the same problem as most I've read here.

The screen went black and there was no sound. It sounds just like everyone else on here had the exact same problem. I called Polaroid. They said they were 99.9% sure of the problem and I could purchase the part with 75% of my money refunded if it didn't fix it. Well, guess what? It didn't fix it! I got our 32" Polaroid LCD TV at the 2007 After Thanksgiving sale. From the time we set it up, it didn't have the same great picture as all the TVs in the store but I was just happy to have the TV so I didn't think much. Two days ago, however, I did think a lot! I was watching it and had gone into the kitchen. When I returned, I had no picture, just sound. I turned it off and back on to no avail. I tried leaving it off for many hours and nothing changed. It's shut. So now, I had to purchase a new one right before the Black Friday Sales. I guess I should be glad that mine didn't start a fire--which I found out that many people have after researching it now. But I'm still totally disgusted that Polaroid kept selling, instead of recalling these after they knew about all the trouble with these. Please add my name to the lawsuit.

    I bought a 32" Polaroid (TLX-03210B) on Black Friday 2007 which cost about $400.00.

Over the last two years, if the TV was on longer than a few hours, the screen would go black (with sound) and would need to be turned off for a few hours. I contacted Polaroid and after waiting forever, I was told that it was out of any warranty. Now as of October 28th 2011, the picture is out for good! $400.00 is a lot of money for some of us to dish out for a TV purchased as a family/household gift for Christmas.

I thought Polaroid was a good brand name, being around so long and all. Now after reading about fire hazards, I won't be getting it repaired! If I had bought a brand new car and it completely quit after three and a half years of normal use, I'm pretty sure there would be laws to protect me from being ripped off. In these tough times, how am I supposed to pull together hundreds of more dollars for a new TV? On the other hand, how do I tell my two young children that we not only have no TV, but can't watch a DVD either.

Thanks Polaroid and include me in any class action lawsuit! I got financial hardship and emotional stress.

We used to get analog stations with the antenna, also satellite with DirecTV. Now, we got nothing digital on antenna. We should get digital without a converter box. Also, during a football game last week, the picture went off and on. We had sound but no picture. This happened about 6 or 7 times. I was given a Polaroid TV 22" flat screen that hangs on the wall for Christmas 2010. Not a week later, it started turning off and then not turning back on for a while. I thought maybe I set a timer or something on accident. But it continued to happen.

Finally about a month or so of having the TV, it stopped turning on completely! The indicator light is on but the TV will not turn on even if I go up to the TV itself and press the power button. It was purchased from Target so we called and they told us they couldn't do anything and to call the company.

We did and they told us to ship it to them. But we had to pay 65 bucks to have it shipped to them on top of the cost of the broken TV. Anyway, we shipped it and about three-four weeks later got it back with a note saying that there was some kind of board that had a problem and they replaced it. So I plugged it in and it worked. But I already had a replacement TV and needed someone to hang this one back up for me so I put it back in the box and waited a few weeks for my grandfather to hang it for me.

Not two days after hanging it, I have the same problem. We called once again and they said, "Oh sorry, we can't do anything. You can ship it back to us and we'll take another look at it." You've got to be kidding me. I'm not going to waste another 65 dollars to have them not fix it. And had I known how many complaints there were, I would have returned it immediately!

We quickly unplugged the TV and got the fire extinguisher, but it was not needed once we unplugged and shut the TV off. I have read many other complaints about this and would like to be included in this lawsuit as well. This is a huge issue and luckily we were home, so no further damage was caused. I purchased a modest size (19") flat screen Polaroid TV/DVD combo last spring (6-7 months ago) at Walmart in Brunswick ME. It was about $210 in total cost as Walmart was apparently eliminating this product from their offer. I do not watch TV on a daily basis and even when I do it is for 2-3 hours per day at most. I use the DVD player twice a month or so. In other words, this little puppy is not abused.

Last week the remote stopped working. I replaced the batteries thinking that was what could be wrong but no luck. No power. I'm operating this TV manually and, after reading all about the complaints with Polaroid TV products, I guess I should be expecting the TV to start a fire soon or completely stop operating. The complaints state that neither Walmart nor Polaroid will stand behind this product. What to do?

The television only worked for two years. It blacked out. The representative informed me the LCD is defective. This is a known problem by the company. Insult to injury they refuse to refund my money for the useless part they sold me. These people are cheating the consumer by selling a defective product, then selling them a useless repair kit. This product should not be on the market, and all of the consumers should be refunded.

I paid $600 plus for the television that worked for just two years. The company, Polaroid, knew the television was defective. They sold me a $200 repair kit. They declared the television was not repairable. They refused to refund my money. After looking online at the numerous people who suffered the same problem it is clear that the company, Polaroid, is knowingly cheating people.

Upon contacting Walmart in PA, I was told that there was nothing that they can do. I called the manufacturer back and they said that I need to pay for $200 for all parts and labor. The catch is that it is only guaranteed for 90 days. The TV broke again--this time, it has no sound. They are very poor quality and should last more than a year. Yes, let's sue them. Every now and then, it would come back on. Now, the picture will not come back on, but the sound is there. After reading all the other posts, I'm afraid to even try it again. I purchased a 32-inch TV from WalMart in 2007. Suddenly, one day about a year after the purchase, the DVD player did not work though every time you turn it on it pretends to attempt to work. Now, October 30, 2010, we had the TV on and it was working fine. We left the room and turned the TV off. We came back about an hour later and turned on the TV. You could barely see the word Polaroid even come on and there was a brief time of some brightness but within a minute, the entire screen was black. Each time you turned it on, it was the same thing.

I called the number on the warranty paperwork knowing it was out of warranty. That number kept reporting it was disconnected. I used the Polaroid digital camera number and was able to get to the TV customer service area. After speaking to numerous customer service representatives who basically had me take most of the TV apart looking for some number on the TV that was not there. Then they determined which part I would need based from the color of the connections located in the power box inside the TV after I removed it. I agreed to the $222 cost to get the part because of course, it was out of warranty. They assured me that the part would go out the next business day. I got confirmations in my email. They charged my debit card on 11/1/2010. There is a $100 refundable core deposit which they claim will be returned to me if I return the part at my cost to them within 30 days.

After two weeks and with no part, I called them to see where my part was. I got a very rude man named Eric who basically said they didn't know what part to send me. They had apparently left some sort of message probably using IP voiceover phone systems and we got some very quiet garbled message the day after they charged my account which we could not even tell was them. I still am not sure. Eric claims they left us a message, whatever. So here we are 11/13/10 and I have called to see where my part is. The warehouse is closed on Saturday. I tell him that shouldn't matter because this was ordered and charged against my account two weeks ago. I want the tracking number to find out where my part is. He says he will check to see if the part went out and will speak to his supervisor. He comes back on the line and tells me the part is shipping out on Monday and should arrive in a week or so.

Of course, I go ballistic and say what you mean. It hasn't even gone out yet. His comment was “Well, we didn't want to send the wrong part because then you would be dissatisfied.” I said, “Like I am now, you mean?” I tell him I want to speak to his supervisor. He tells me to hold. Then he comes back after I have been holding 5 minutes or so and tells me that there is no supervisor there today. “What do you mean? You verified with the supervisor that this part is shipping on Monday so how can you now say there is no supervisor?” He says, “Well, what do you want me to do”. I told him that I want the part shipped priority at their expense as I have been waiting over two weeks for a part promised in 7 to 10 days. According to Cheryl, it will likely arrive way before then. He tells me that they cannot ship priority because they don't have that kind of account with UPS. I tell him that is **** and asked again to speak to the supervisor. He says, “Oh, you want to speak to the supervisor? Ok, I will get him”. I was held 5 to 10 minutes longer.

Eventually, Eric comes back and says that the supervisor is not available and that she is on a call queue and he cannot transfer me. I am beyond furious now. I go around and around with him about his supervisor, who he has told me was a guy, then a girl, then not in today, then on a call, then her call queue was full and he could not transfer my call. I tell him in no uncertain terms that I want a call back. He says he will forward the message and the supervisor will get back to me when she is available but no one ever called back!

To make this situation even more sick, we purchased a 19-inch Polaroid TV for our daughter for her 19th birthday 1.5 years ago. It does not work, will not power up and they have told her that there is nothing they can do for her. It has been broken for nearly a year. Since she lives in another state, I cannot handle this for her because no doubt the entire TV must be taken apart to find some part number that does not exist. The crap this Eric told me about the call queue is ****. I have been in charge of our phone team at work for 7 years. We have a call queue system and there are unlimited numbers of calls that can be placed into any call queue system. Plus at any given time there should be a supervisor available so even if he or she left another supervisor should have been available.

Recently the TV gave out a large puff of smoke, from a corner at the top, and the screen turned black. It seems a capacitor there has burned out. Fortunately someone was there to quickly unplug the unit and prevent a possible home fire. Do not bother to contact Polaroid, they will attempt to basically sell you a $300+ fix to a $2 capacitor! Polaroid should be compelled to issue a recall / replacement of this potentially dangerous and in every way defective product.

Thinking it was a problem with the satellite, I tried all of the problem solving techniques. When they didn't work, I called for technical support. When they couldn't help, they said it must be the television itself. It never occurred to me that a 4-year old, $900 TV would be broken. I took it to a repair place and found that it was a burned out motherboard.

The repair cost $185, but the TV played just fine for 90 days, which was 30 days longer than the warranty. Again, I turned on the TV and the blue screen with "no signal" appeared again. Today I bought a Vizio. After reading so many complaints, it might be time for a class action suit.

Our Polaroid flat screen TV started messing up about four months ago. I’m scared to turn it on! We bought it from Walmart. It is almost three years old. First, we would turn it on and there would be a high-pitched scream until it "warmed up". Then a lot of loud static as the picture tried to stay on the screen. Loud, quiet static and picture popping on and off the screen! Once it was on, it would be fine for a few hours.

Then, out of the blue, the perfect picture would start to pop on and off the screen along with the noise. The screen goes black and the sound is still going. Now this week, if I try to turn it on, the blue light will go light blue and the Polaroid name comes up for a split second and then the red off light comes on. I try unplugging, adjusting wires and still blue light turns red just as quickly as I touch the button to turn it on.

I have never seen smoke. I have smelled what I call a "hot" smell. Like the smell of hot plastic. I heard a very loud ear piercing screech and a loud pop and that was when the T.V. was plugged in and off! Now it just sits in the living room not being used because I’m scared. $1000.00 down the drain for a hazardous television. I will never buy a Polaroid product again. I will never buy a TV. from Walmart again. FYI: my sister bought a Samsung flat screen and it lasted exactly one year. Something unsafe is going on with both products. I was cheated by this company.
