I purchased a 55inch HD TV from QVC in Nov 2015. In Feb it started blacking out. It was doing it at least twice a day. I would cut off tv and cut back on. Now it's doing it at least 15-20 times a day. I have contacted QVC on so many occasions and I was getting was the runaround. They then stated I needed to contact Polaroid. So I did and they told me I have to send the tv to CA and I live in IL. That's going to approximately cost me over $200 to send in a TV that's defective messed up in under 6 mos. I can't afford to see this tv across country. It's 55 inches. I am so angry and upset I didn't receive help from either company. I am seeking legal assistance in a class action lawsuit against polaroid. I have seen so many consumer complaints that has the same issue that I am experiencing. If anyone wants to be included please respond to my complaint. Thank you.

I purchased the TV for my brother a year and a half ago. My screen went blank. It flashes Polaroid on it for about 2 seconds then screen goes black. From what I read it has happened to a lot of other consumers. I'm not sure why the Better Business Bureau hasn't been contacted about them yet. You purchase a new and expensive (at least on my budget) TV and it doesn't even last two years is pathetic and it is obviously a continuing problem and the company keeps making them. It isn't right and it is ripping off the consumers. I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER POLAROID PRODUCT!

I bought this TV at BrandsMart few months ago (09/2015). TV still in warranty. Now, when I turn my TV on I can't see anything (only a black screen) but the audio still good. This same thing happens sometimes before, but the TV come back to work properly. Now, I'm stuck on this black screen. I called Polaroid to get my warranty and they asked me to send TV back to Ontario/CA, AND I have to properly package the TV myself (if it get damage during shipping will void the warranty) and pay the $150 shipping cost (I live in Georgia). It doesn't worth... FIRST AND LAST EXPERIENCE EVER. Even if the price is good, DON'T BUY THIS PIECE OF JUNK.

I normally go for brand names. Polaroid, I always thought of them as a photo company. On seeing the Polaroid television I thought I would try this as like my last branded tv I had nothing to lose, as I didn't have my last television that long before I had the problem with it. I'd recommend Polaroid. The colours are sharp and sound is sharp too, not muffled like some when you raise the volume. Also I've had a few power cuts that hasn't interfered with this television.

I called in with my issue with our 3 month old 55" UHD 4K TV from Polaroid that we bought at Fry's Electronics. After debating with Fry's, I called Polaroid to a very uneducated customer service representative. Meaning they didn't even know the product. When I explained my situation and that the TV was Brand New and never moved, they said it didn't matter and that I needed to mail the TV to a place in LA that would have cost me over 200 dollars. The warranty states IN HOME Service but Polaroid says that they don't do that anymore. It's freaking joke. Luckily Fry's agreed to take the TV back.

My son purchased a Polaroid P28LED13 for his 9th birthday with his birthday money and it is now 19 months old and will not switch on. This was purchased from ASDA who have been fobbing me off and sending me around in circles. It turns out that Polaroid are ASDA although staff in store do not seem to realize this as they constantly told me to ring the supplier. To cut a long story short after the warranty is up if they break they are just for the tip. No one is interested in problems with them. If you do purchase a Polaroid TV from ASDA be warned that it could just last a year!!! In future I will pay a little bit more to a reputable brand that has a decent service department who do still want to help after warranty!!!!

I bought my granddaughter a 40 inch Polaroid TV from my local ASDA. Paid cash for it... It worked well at first, good picture then we noticed the remote didn't work. All the time we kept changing the batteries thinking it might help, then bought a new remote control, then looked through the booklet we found. It says "Use the control at the side to turn on & off a flimsy little button that decides when & if it will switch on." It doesn't come on at all. Now we just have a flashing red light.... We don't have the receipt due to a house move & I called ASDA who couldn't care less. They would not even offer a help suggestion... Except call Polaroid themselves. So my lovely present to my granddaughter is totally useless. I'm going to my local store to hang about the TV area & anyone showing an interest in the brand I'm going to make them aware of the pitfalls so it can't happen to more people. I feel totally ripped off.

I would turn my Polaroid tv on using the remote or buttons on the back of tv. At first it would come on, display the Polaroid name and go off. So I tried using the remote again after turning the tv on. I would push the channel buttons repeatedly and sometimes it would catch and stay on, but don't dare turn it off, for you'd have to go through the same procedure again and again til it stayed on. Now it won't even catch using the channel buttons and it goes on for a couple seconds, shows the Polaroid name and shuts off. I'm so mad because at the time I paid over $200 for this piece of junk. And it looks like new because I took care of it, but it sure doesn't act like it.

Hi, I just watched this young man's video (5 parts) on YouTube ** and he describes that there are two capacitors side by side inside the back of the TV that had gone bad. They were only 12 volt or something like that, and he could only find 30 volt at Radio Shack, but felt they would work. They worked fine, but he had to desauter the old ones to get them out and then sauter in the new ones. It didn't look too hard, but probably a repair person would be a better choice for someone like me! So, anyway, it sounds like the capacitors Polaroid put in that model of their flat screen TVs were insufficient. If so, it seems like a class action lawsuit could be filed. In the least, they should be made to do a recall to replace the capacitors.

Now, I've had this TV longer than some other people, but it looks like the 2008 models were crap. After I had this TV for a year, it developed a vertical red line on the left side of the picture. There was no way to fix it. The line appeared continuously for about 10 to 15 minutes and then disappeared for the rest of the time it was on. I learned to live with it, turning my TV on before I planned to watch it, or leaving it on.

However, less than 6 years later, it summarily died. There was no reaction when I tried to turn it on with the remote, and no response from the on/off button on the TV itself. I unplugged it, and then plugged it back in and there was a loud popping noise from it. I moved it to where I could see the back when I plugged it in, and I can see a big spark in the back near the top of the TV every time I try it. Based on this experience, and the comments from others, I cannot see ever buying another Polaroid TV.

I was getting ready to have someone fix this until I found out about problems with them. What do I need to do to join in or get reimbursed if able to for a malfunctioning TV? I'm not sure if lawsuit is still pending. I still have the TV sitting in the living room. I had looked to see if there were any recalled. Why didn't they recall them back?

The other night, my girlfriend and I laid down to watch some TV before bed. Quickly after we turned on, the TV went out and the back of the TV started smoking. It was a lot of smoke. The smoke filled up the entire room. I jumped up to unplug the TV so it didn't set our house on fire. I am so glad it broke down when we were watching the TV and not when we were sleeping. Now I found out that this has been happening to a lot of people that have bought this TV?! This is unacceptable. Polaroid needs to be held accountable for not taking swift action when they knew these TVs were bad. I am going to do whatever I have to get on the class action lawsuit. In about a week’s time, sparks started to come from the back of the television; and it started to smoke. I unplugged the television, and it continued to smoke. I had to grab the TV and threw it outside because I was concerned about it going up in flames. At the time, I lived in a one bedroom condo with 2 infants; and I didn't want to take a chance. I called the customer service number and was told it was out of warranty. I tried to reason with the representative and asked for a supervisor but was disconnected. I purchased a 32" HDTV TV/DVD combo in late 2007 for $668. We liked it so much that we purchased a second one in late 2008 for $668. The first one's DVD player stopped working just shy of the one-year warranty so Polaroid sent a replacement free of charge. Well, that DVD player stopped working just outside of the 90-day warranty on the replacement DVD so we didn't bother to replace it. The TV still works fine, for now. Well, shortly after the one-year warranty expired on the second one, the DVD player stopped working correctly so we paid for a replacement from Polaroid.

About five months later, that one stopped working correctly also. So now, we have two TV/DVD combos, same model, same brand, same issue. But they were fairly inexpensive compared to other similar TVs. Last night, I went into our bedroom, turned on the TV (the second one purchased) and there was a blue light, sound, but no picture - completely black. I contacted Polaroid this afternoon, told them of the issue, and they quoted a price of $59.99 for a replacement light box, $20.00 shipping. I said, "What the heck? By the way, how much is a replacement DVD player since that's broken, again, too?" I was told $29.99 for the part and $12.99 for the shipping. Cool, send it. I paid via debit.

The Polaroid guy explained that "should the light thingy not work upon installation, I could send it back for a 25% restocking fee, another charge not to be lower than $40.00, and I would have to pay the return shipping." Let's do the math ($59.99 + $20.00 = $79.99). Twenty five percent of $59.99 is $15.00 plus $40.00, plus shipping at around $6.00. So all in all, in the event the replacement didn't fix the issue, I would be out $140.98. And if the replacement part that was supposed to fix the display didn't work, I would be out the $29.99 + $12.99 + $10.00 (yeah, $10 miscellaneous fee on my invoice that I received after he had received my payment, it's listed as misc. on the receipt) equals $193.96.

That's only if I choose to not have yet another replacement sent, free of charge except for shipping at $20.00. I paid $668.00 for the TV. Yeah, so I repeated what he said, to include the total paid for. I told him that should the part not work, I'll save my money returning the part(s) and just purchase another television by a respectable manufacturer. I will go online to every blog consumer report type site to include public postings on Facebook and tell anyone and everyone that'll listen to me to stay as far from Polaroid televisions as possible. He said, "Okay. Do you still want the parts?" Yes, send them!

I then around 2010 bought another larger screen Polaroid TV for home, and it lost its sound. I can listen to the TV via earphones or use my Surround Sound home theater system for the sound. But other than that, no sound. Now my first TV I purchased is making a loud beep sound. The screen goes to rest pattern and it won't allow me to turn it off. I have to unplug it from the outlet. Then after a couple of minutes, it works again.

I don't have warranty and can't find out why this is happening. No help and I'm frustrated. So I have to to purchase two TVs again and that is a great big expense that I don't think I would have to make again for quite a few more years. I know I will never buy any Polaroid product. What burns me up is America used to be proud of its products and made quality products. Now it's all crap. I'm one angry consumer who spent over $3,000 on crap. Won't do it again.

I bought an element TV a few years ago and it's been a good little TV. It has a few specific weaknesses but if you can overlook those, it's significantly cheaper than other brands.

    The bad values are:
    1) You have to completely disable parental lock or it will randomly show you a blank screen while you flip through channels.
    2) It takes forever to load a digital channel, better to make them all skip in the channel setup.
    3) It's very easy to accidentally hit channel scan and wipe out the list of good channels.

    4) It has a strange aspect ratio in-between widescreen and standard.

    The good values are:
    1) It has a wide range of connection options. I've had mine set up to switch between cable and 2 different computers.
    2) It has a built in handle at the top that makes it very easy to carry.

    3) It's cheap and has lasted a few years, good for those on a budget.

I brought it to the store for exchange or refund, but they (the manager) refused me and said my receipt was only valid until July 19 (I went to the store on August 1). They said I should call Polaroid, which I did. Since I do not have a landline, I phoned Polaroid's Starlite Electronics (800-765-2764) about my defective model TLAC 02255.

After remaining on hold for about 45 minutes, the customer service rep (no, the title is not meant to evoke laughter but pity) said he would send me an RMA, but that I would have to pay the postage and insurance. That and the time on my cellphone would have brought my aggravation to about $30 on my $189 TV. I then called Target's corporate headquarters in Minneapolis (reference number **) and they too would not reverse the decision to deny me a refund or straight exchange. However, they must have realized that the product is defective and they had to better get rid of their inventory. They lowered the price to $155. Big Box stores, especially like Target, have to realize that customers keep them in existence and not the other way around. Look at what happened to Zayre and Circuit City.

I had my husband come look at it and when he turned it back on, the Polaroid logo flashed. The sound came on but no picture. He turned it right back off as you could smell something burning. I can only imagine what could have happened if I had not been home with my daughter while she was watching television. We've moved the plug to a different outlet, and it's the same problem. So I contacted Target today, and I was told I need to go to Polaroid, since the TV is still under the manufacturer's warranty.

I was transferred to Polaroid and spoke to Mike. I had to call back, because I didn't have the model number. So I called back when I had the information, and then I had Nick on the phone. Well, I didn't realize that it was close to 7pm Eastern. So while I was talking to Nick, he hung up on me. I called back because at the time, I thought I had been disconnected.

When I called back, I got the "Office is closed." message. Seriously? I was just talking to Nick a second before. What kind of customer service is that? I don't even want to deal with them, if this is how they treat their customers. They can't stay a few minutes past their schedule to assist someone? I called Target back, and they can't help me either. So I still have a TV that doesn't work.

Condense all the previous posts into a class action and I'm in. DVD went down first. Then, the screen went pixilated on multiple streaks, vertically across the screen. After I looked into the model issues, I was ready for the worst (thanks to this post thread), and it then it happened last night, the screen went black, but the audio was fine - a late night viewing and it recovered enough for me to shut it down proper. Upon restart, it lasted 5-10 seconds each for a round of 2 restarts, then there was a hiss and the smoke appeared on cue. Thank goodness I was awake. Fire hazard? Fully probable. I jumped up and pulled power and all connections - nasty smell too - that was it, $698 down the drain and I had to buy a new unit to replace. If we band together and try to recover, and not let anyone set their house on fire with kids, dogs or parents having to die to bring this to the courts. I'm in, my e-add is attached.

After frantically running through the entire house, I noticed smoke was coming from my TV located in my bedroom and soon noticed the awful burning smell was coming from the TV. I immediately turned the TV off. I waited approximately 2 hours, mind you, scared as ever and attempted to turn the TV back on. The TV barely showed the Polaroid logo, then went to a complete black screen. The sound was okay, but there is no picture. I contacted a TV repairman who said it would cost approximately $150.00 to $200.00 to fix it.

I tried contacting Polaroid yesterday to see if there is any assistance. What I did receive was basically no customer service whatsoever and the rep on the phone knew exactly what the problem was and began to ask me for model number, serial number, name, address and phone to check the pricing on parts to ship so that I can fix their problem. I was furious at this point because when I Googled what happened to my TV, I came across this site and to see so many people with the very same, exact issues. I asked her if I do fix it, what's the likelihood that this will not happen again after replacing? I received silence and was told sometimes electronics fail. Yeah, poorly-made electronics. I also informed the rep of these complaints and class action lawsuit. She basically said, "that Polaroid company filed bankruptcy and this is the new Polaroid". What a bunch of **. After ensuring all connections were accurate and that only DVDs tried were those listed in the manual and met the components listed, upon accurate setup we found the DVD player did not work! So disappointed!

We contacted Shoppers Drug Mart immediately after we learned the DVD component of this almost $300 TV did not work from get go. We learned they no longer have any of these TVs and would not be getting these TV's again. We were instructed to contact the manufacturer! It's not as easy as one may think! We have not yet been able to get anywhere with the manufacturer, and are waiting to see if they will send a new replacement TV. If not, our only option left is to return the TV to Shoppers Drug Mart, who will then give us a gift card for Shoppers for the amount paid for the TV!

This gift card would be useless for our son, and it would also mean he is out a TV! Nothing is more frustrating than giving a high ticket item as a Christmas gift, only to find out it does not work, and that we must jump through hoops to get a sufficiently appropriate result! And even if the manufacturer is willing to replace the TV, it means packing up the new one we just bought, shipping it to them and only once they have received it, and verified the DVD component is not working, will they maybe send a replacement, leaving our son without a TV!

We are so frustrated and angry a brand new product doesn't work, and we are unable to give our son the gift we chose to give him! Polaroid needs to be accountable here, and they are not!

I bought a 32 inch TV at Walmart on Black Friday in 2007. On November 24, 2011, it made a sizzling sound and smoke came out of the top and now there is no picture and it doesn't work. I am very upset as I am a single mother of 4 and cannot afford another TV. I am left without a TV, have lost 400 plux taxes and lost faith in Polaroid as a brand.

I bought a 32' Polaroid HD LCD TV/DVD combo, Model TDA-03211C in 2007, and less than 3 years later, smoke suddenly started coming out of it. The screen didn't go black, like in other cases, it kept working, so it was good that an adult was nearby to unplug it right away. This happened in 2010, and at that time, I realized there were already multiple (thousands?) complaints, so I'm surprised to see consumer authorities have not enforced a recall yet.

The 32-inch DVD/TV combo is plagued with issues. Our system lost its DVD and was replaced with warranty. Then like many others, the TV just quit. Many articles online seem to point to a faulty power supply. We just replaced the power supply, and the TV is still dead. This is a great company name, too bad they have very poor products, and lack luster support. Where are you Ralph **? I would add my name to class action as well. The consequences include loss of value, risk of fire in our residence and business, loss of income related to above, death, exposure to toxic by-products from electronics failure.

I purchased a 32 inch flat screen Polaroid TV on Black Friday 3.5 yrs ago. It is now totally useless. One night, while watching, the TV went totally black but had sound and then started smoking out of the top vent of the TV. I immediately unplugged everything from the TV and removed the plug from the wall. This was of great disappointment to me for having faith in this brand and also the risk I have taken owning this product in my home. I have read many other posts pertaining to the same TV that I had purchased and the same exact descriptions as to the failure of their TV was as mine. I request immediate action for the limited use I had of this TV. I want a refund and also the public made aware of how dangerous it is to have and use this product.

I had bought a 46 in Polaroid LCD 1080p online through walmart.com in April,2009 and then in May 2011, it started crackling and popping on and off then it started smoking then completely shut down.
