I have a LG smart TV with built in 3D. My overall review is that it is great. The bad part is that it has so many features that after a year and 1/2 of having it I still cannot figure out all the functions. So if you are tech savvy it's great, if not like myself it's like having a new TV every time you discover how to work a new function.

Basically I have had good experiences with all TVs. Lately have been impressed with LG. Good value for the price and we now have two of them. TVs have all lasted long time and as with everything else it seems one just disposes of a broken and acquires a new one at much cheaper price. Size does matter plus it seems that one should definitely give strong consideration to smart TVs what with options like Netflix etc now becoming very popular.

After reading that hundreds of people have had the same problem I figured I had to buy a new TV. I can't believe the TV only lasted 2 1/2 years. I will never buy another LG TV! For the price I paid for the TV it should have lasted longer. LG should have recalled these TVs. I agree a class action suit should be filed. Count me in!

My husband bought a LG 60PV490 television. He bought it in Dec 13, 2011. On Dec 13, 2015 the screen went black but we still have sound. I called LG and they were no help. I have read on MANY sites of people with the same issue. The part I need is the YSUS board and they discontinued it. Now I have a $900 waste of money hanging on my wall. I called the repair business LG gave me and the guy even said he has a hard time getting parts for my TV and it would be $450 for him to fix it. How is he suppose to fix it when he can't even get the parts? LG is a complete ripoff. A 4 yr old TV in immaculate condition now is a hanging hunk of junk. Shame on you LG. They need a class action lawsuit for their terrible products!

Luckily the first time it was under warranty still, and they sent a repairman out to my house, who then took the TV for about 2 weeks, fixed it, and returned it. Now it's not under warranty, they do anything. I will NEVER buy another one of these LG TVs and I will tell everybody I know not to buy them. They are garbage.

In Sept. 2014 I purchased a 70" LG Smart TV for $2500 at Best Buy. We were told this was a great TV by the salesmen and we felt confident that we were making a good choice. We did not buy the extended warranty for $300. Well, 13 months later the TV went dark with only sound. Upon researching the problem, I'm seeing it occurs very often and other consumers are left out of luck too. My husband, replaced the LED board and t-con board and the tv worked all day then the next day will be back to the same issues. We only did our own repairs because, LG was no help and there's no repair services near that has a good reputation to service it. I feel cheated. There should be no "shame on me" for not buying an extended warranty. It's shame on them for selling products that are made as if they are disposable and betting on that extended warranty to make more money off us when the problem isn't resolved with repair.

I bought an LG 50LN5100 two years ago and while watching tv last night the sound stayed on and the screen went black, from what I read online the tv has problems with the back light and the LED strips. I called LG and they said I have to pay a service person to come to my home and I have to pay for parts and repairs. I started researching the problem and many, many people have said the same things happened to them. So in short LG sells you a TV for good money and as soon as the warranty is up the parts go bad and you have two choices, 1) You buy a new tv or 2) You pay an LG service person to come to your house and pay LG for the parts and in a year or two pay more money to get it fixed again because it is a problem that almost every owner has this is not a fluke. I will never buy another LG product and I recommend nobody else does. I wish I would have read reviews before I bought this piece of junk money pit.

After almost 2 years to the day of purchase screen suddenly went black but sound continued. Tried calling and they say call a repair guy, NO! The red light on the bottom blinks a few times and a pop of light appears and then goes away. This company should be held accountable and should not be allowed to sell TVs. I purchased an LG 47 in LA6200 Smart 3D Cinema TV from Best Buy on 4/4/2013. After a couple days I had a problem turning the TV on and off so I brought it back and had it replaced. A few months later a window would periodically open asking if I wanted to change inputs. I tapped on the TV and it would go away. I would have called about it but I know that technicians have problems diagnosing intermittent problems (my bad).

So, fast forward 2.5 years after purchase and the screen goes black. I call LG and am referred to 2 different authorized repairmen. Both tell me LED back panel needs replaced at a cost equal to the cost of the original price (almost $900.00) and (of course) would be an uneconomical repair. I've called LG three times. They apologize at least 20 times but said they could do nothing to help me. Needless to say I will never buy an LG product again. And since I have nothing else to do till the first of the year I'll be spending the next three weeks sharing my story with hundreds of people. And when I go back to work in the trade show industry I will share my story at all the LG booths that I will be working near! I might not put them out of business but trust me they're going to lose more customers than myself.

Last week of November the TV screen went totally black. Initially we could hear the sound but when we turned the TV off and back on now the screen and sound was gone. Called LG customer service, we had already did the troubleshooting they suggested to no avail. LG customer service then informed us they could do NOTHING to help us because we did not register the TV after we purchased.

After reading other consumers very similar experiences, LG used any and all excuses not to back their product. Will never purchase an LG product again. We paid almost $700 for a TV that didn't even last 2 years. Customer Service told me we should have purchased the extended warranty. We do not purchase extended warranties - these companies should be making products that are not defective. LG should be making effort to replace/repair products that are defective instead of what they are currently doing - NOTHING!

Tried reaching out to customer care, from this point we started hearing surprise news.

Actually, I brought this TV in San Jose, CA and took it to India and learned LG don't cover the warranty outside the united states. Tried requesting for international warranty for additional price but they don't have that concept at all (unfortunately LG is international brand). But, LG is agreed for supporting if any issues in abroad with local customer care. However, we were learned that local support doesn't get parts to fix the issue and they were tried failing to place order for the part. Waited for almost 6 months now and there is no resolution till now. Just waste of money. I would strongly not recommend to go with LG.

So the rep gave me two repair company names to contact. When the repair person got here, he tried the remote and the TV turned on instantly to our surprise.

That night, we attempted to turn on the TV and it wouldn't respond so we called to have the repair guy come back out. At the second appointment, the repair guy replaced the motherboard and the TV turned, responded. Not even five minutes after the repair man left, my husband wanted to show me how well the TV worked now and lo and behold, it wouldn't turn on. We called the repair guy immediately so he could turn around and come back. When he got here, he told us there was nothing he could do and needed to take it to the repair shop. I purchased a 55'' LG Smart TV in February 2014. The manufacture date was December 2013. October of 2014 I had to have a warranty repair completed on this TV which had gone black. LG Support sent a representative from "Gibbs TV Repair" Weaverville, NC and the repair was completed. Not a year later I sit here with the very same issue! Now I attempted to contact the representative LG sent and Gibbs TV repair is no longer in business and I called and explained this situation of here I am again with no TV due to the same issue re-occurring not even a year later and a supervisor told me they couldn't do any more for me.

I feel that LG corporation should stand behind their product line better this. I have a 55" paperweight that isn't even two years old! Things like this is why so many companies make more money off us as consumers in order to purchase additional warranties because nobody stands behind their products anymore! I will never buy another LG product and will suggest the same to everyone reading this as well...

I am what looks to be, just another resounding voice yelling the same things here on this page. I purchased a LG 47in Smart TV from my local home store. Fast forward 18 months, and now I have a useless box hanging on my wall. Yesterday the picture went black and the sound continued, I tried contacting the store that I purchased the tv from and they cannot help me past the 1yr manufacturer warranty. The next step is to call LG. I am hoping that something can be done.

Obviously this is a very serious flaw in their equipment and it is not an isolated incident. This is completely sickening that a large company can make a flawed product, mass produce and sell sell sell, make millions off of us, the consumer, and not have any consequences when their product fails after a very short time. Life is NOT GOOD here! I will be sure to tell everyone I know that this brand is NOT TRUSTWORTHY, and will never be purchased by my family ever again.

To a large company such as LG, perhaps it seems like just a drop in the bucket to spend 400-700 dollars on a tv that WE the consumer consider an investment for our household. But I am personally devastated that a large purchase such as this is just gone like smoke in the wind. And it still finds me asking HOW CAN THEY DO THIS? Not stand behind their product when so many are experiencing the very same problem as I?

Netflix and industry wide supports units with HEVC (H.265) and this unit does not come with that type out of the box. So this $4800+ "4K" HDTV is outdated before it is even sold. Also it's not hdmi 2.0 like the newer models. So you'll never get the proper input from a 4k Blu-ray or any other input. It's hdmi 1.4 and will have to be retrofitted at YOUR cost to get any 4K in the future. They did not tell me this and that is why I am rating this so low. A few months later its price was cut in half with no restitution for even that either. IF they would just honor their promises and either upgrades or recalls this unit, I will change this rating for this model. Industry goes to H.265 and they sell this unit in spite of that? Bad move LG, bad move. Litigation is all we are left with. This issue will be a stain on that company if they do nothing about this, we will make sure of it.

We purchased an LG 50" television in December 2013 and it did not work out of the box. LG sent a tech to the house and diagnosed the problem 3 days after I called and determined that they would just replace the part needed rather than replacing the set. I had to wait another 3 days for the repair. Now, I had to take time off of work for both of these service calls, which took away vacation time with my family -- much more expensive price to pay! To make a long story short, this TV has broken down for the 4th time in less than 2 years and each time they just replace a part and each time I have had to take time off of work.

Fortunately, I was smart enough to purchase an extended warranty so it won't cost me any additional money. I have spoken with a manager twice regarding their product and the time it has taken away from our family vacation time. When I asked one manager if it would make him angry, he said multiple times "I have a different perspective than you do." Really? A different perspective? Bottom line is, DO NOT BUY a TV made by LG!

First let me start off by saying I will never buy an LG product as long as I live and neither will my friends and family. I bought an LG g3 cell phone and from day one I had problems with the screen freezing and updates. I called LG customer service which is obviously outsourced to India or Korea. First it's impossible to understand them. Second they are extremely rude and said you will get absolutely nowhere. After many calls and many letters they finally fixed my phone and when they sent it back it had a huge crack in it. Instead of offering to fix it, they filed a claim with FedEx. I can guarantee the crack was caused by lg because I was in the same spot underneath the back of the phone where the piece was replaced by LG. I found out they got the price of my entire phone of over $500. Then had me send my phone to them and they repaired it and kept all the money. I don't believe either of us should have gotten any money.

FedEx needs to take a look at what's going on with lg and their claims because it is fraud. As a police officer I think this is wrong and should be dealt with accordingly. Any business that runs this way is corrupt and in bad business. On top of all this every person I spoke with it LG customer service had a very strong accent. They were very arrogant, unhelpful, and extremely rude. Not to mention lazy. No one wants to help and it takes many phone calls and letters to get anywhere. Again, as a police officer, and instructor, I will tell everyone I ever come in contact with not to buy an LG product. It's too bad because I own 3 LG TVs, portable phones and other products in my house. But I can assure you I will never purchase an LG product again nor will my friends and family and if I could help it my colleagues and anyone I come in contact with will hear my story including my training classes.

Telling me that the warranty expired when they're clearly selling a defective product because most complaints on LG are about this very same issue!! I should not have to pay for a brand new tv after one year of use. Their TVs are no good after a year based on most complaints!!

LG (model 47LN5200-UB). I have a TV that I purchased late 2013 and it just went black without warning and will not work at all anymore. I went online to do research on the model, and found that many, many people have the same problem as I do and it also fails after about 18 mos or so. I read of all the tried fixes including replacing different boards, but what seemed to be the culprit is the LED back lights that fail.

I just took mine apart to check the LEDs, and discovered that one LED completely caught fire and melted itself and the surrounding plastic white reflector. It burned about a 4" diameter area and left black soot adjacent to it about 12" diameter. The good news is I found the problem, the bad news is it could have caused a fire. I have photos that I think I should send to LG to let them know of the fire danger. I don't know if anyone else has checked these LEDs to see if theirs caught fire also, but maybe that's what's causing all the failures of this model TV.

Our LG TV is not even a year old. It stopped working and had A vertical green line down the center. The tech came out and said that LG considered a vertical or horizontal green line an indication of a cracked screen which they consider physical damage even though there is no crack in the screen. The screen looks like it is brand new. When I talked to LG they refused to honor the warranty because they considered it physical damage even though there is none. Talking to LG Customer service is an extremely frustrating experience. I will never buy anything from this company again.

LCD Smart TV Model #47LN5700 - We purchased this product on 12/22/2013. Today, on 9/11/15, I turned the TV on and the picture disappeared. There was only sound, and no amount of troubleshooting with the company that provides the service plan (which we, thankfully, purchased) could fix it. We now have to wait up to several weeks for this to fixed, offer the service plan. My issue is that a TV should last longer than a year and a half. This TV was over $700, and that was on sale! Furthermore, I've seen this exact issue reported multiple times.

When I called LG Customer Service, I was answered by a call center in India. I basically told that LG wouldn't do anything because the warranty ended after the first year and that they cannot guarantee the longevity of their products! Seriously?! LG can't guarantee that their products will last at least two years. What a crap product. I'll never buy LG again, as the quality is clearly questionable, and I'm now worried that my washer and dryer are LG. I mean, are they going to stop working soon, too?

Apparently this is a common issue. If I had known this I would not have purchased LG. After calling customer service even though the year warranty was up, I was given a ref. no. I thought "gee, maybe they will do something about this." Yes, they will do something, for an extra $180-$200 and something. So then my T.V. will be just about $1000 with a limited warranty. LOL. My daughter purchased a LG 42" Smart TV from Amazon in December 2014 Trading in our tube tv. This tv was a seemingly amazing product. On Monday, August 31st 8 months after the purchase, the tv had a black screen and sound. I called Customer Service and they scheduled an appointment for Tuesday with a local servicer. When I called the local servicer, they told me to describe the problem which is pretty simple - black screen, no sound and then went on to say they would order a part and not be out on Tuesday as LG had promised but Friday with the part. This made perfect sense to me since it would alleviate two visits.

When the servicer came out on Friday the ordered part did not work and another part needed to be ordered with a possible repair time of another week. I called LG just to say why did they not authorize all parts and return those not needed but they disagreed with me. In any case, they didn't seem to have an issue with anything I was saying. The fact the tv should not fail within 12 months, the fact that they don't feel it's relevant to bring all necessary parts in one appointment or the fact that they gave me one day and it was clearly not possible for it even to be fixed in the time frame. I went online and there are complaints about the same issue (Black screen, sound) so it's obvious something is wrong with the product. I went to Best Buy and the salesperson told me LG is one of their top brands but LG is not really concerned all their customers are having issues. Maybe it's a defect in the part.

Dealing with LG customer service is a joke, can't even get them to look at my photos to see that obviously the stand has defects. And, don't wait around for them to call you back like they say they will. They also gave us service center contact info - my son spends 1 hour trying to find the place and it doesn't exist.

I called the other service repair company before sending him out again with the TV to make sure they were in business and to give him an overview of what happened. The service tech was kind enough to call the LG rep who handles his warranty claims and the LG rep said they do not cover any aspect of damages due to stand breakage. Warranty info is not to be found anywhere on their website or in the Owner's or User's Manual. Bottom line - TV weight with stand 40.1 lbs. Without stand 39.2. Seriously? Turns out it was manufacturer's defect and they fixed it since it was in the warranty period. Then a few months later, no picture, but sound. I did some research on the Web and found out it is a relatively simple fix to replace the LED strips if you are handy BUT LG, since they are a terrible company, will not sell you the parts to replace yourself nor will they provide them to any of the parts distributors out there.

You need to get one of their techs to come out and do it at some ungodly rate since it is now just outside the warranty period. It has been nothing but problems. I have a Samsung Plasma that I have had for years no problems, and I even bought a no name brand for my dad who keeps it on almost 24 by 7; he has had it for years and not a problem at all. When we tried to turn it back on, it would just automatically turn back off but the audio stays on. I called LG customer service and they told me that basically the only option was to try to unplug it and then plug it back on. If that didn't work I would need to call a repair service.

Additionally, he told me that they offer a "flat trade" repair service for 199.00 where an LG factory repair person would come out and either fix it or they would trade it for another TV. However, unfortunately he told me that service was not available in my zip code. I live in Nashville TN which is a pretty big city, but because of where I live that "offer" is not available. I've looked on the internet for any information and it seems we aren't the only ones. There are literally hundreds of people complaining about the same thing. They ALL are having the same problem with the same kind of model. One said it's the wifi. Tried that, didn't work. Another one said he tried putting in a CPU fan on the chip but he admits, that didn't work either. So I figured maybe it's overheating and LG troubleshooting recommended clearing the dust from the back, so I cleared ALL the dust from the top vents, placed 2 fans at the bottom, blowing up into the 2 bottom vents.

It worked for a while then started doing it again. We can't get it to stop. I then found out that LG is made in Korea and some companies won't even stock them. If it doesn't stop we're gonna end up buying a new TV, NOT LG. As a matter of fact, this is the 2nd thing we bought that is LG. I have seen a lot of recent customer reviews about poor customer service at LG. I had a 50-inch LG TV, where the backlight went out on the TV. I was about 20 months into owning this and was very irritated when this happened. After reading this forum, I was sure I was going to be out of luck. After doing my own troubleshooting and determining that it was indeed the backlight, I first called a local TV repair service. They said that if it was the backlight, that I really did not want to be trying to fix that since it was very complicated and tedious to replace one of the strips. So I decided to call LG to see what they could do for me.

At first, they told me what I already knew...the LG was out of warranty. They told me to upload the receipt for the TV, and they would "do what they could" to extend the warranty. I had little hope that this would happen. I was placed on hold for several minutes after uploading the warranty... To my surprise (and delight), they said they could extend the warranty. They then scheduled a tech to come out to work on the TV. He replaced the power supply and the control module, which did not resolve the problem. Then he went out of his way to get a new LCD and replace it on the same day. I'm happy to say that I'm extremely satisfied with LG TVs and will recommend them in the future.

While watching a program on the evening of July 14, 2015 without warning the video went black, however, the sound did not. After visiting the LG website and going through the troubleshooting scheme, it was evident that the unit had malfunctioned. Today I contacted the customer service number on the back of the owner's manual to inquire what could the company do for me. I did mention that there seems to be a rather large number of complaints regarding the failure of their televisions. I was told that the warranty was for 12 months and that the company would not make exceptions to the rule. I also asked if there were any repair shops in the area. I was given the name of a company located 200 miles from where I live. I was also given a number for a local repair shop that when I called, the number had been disconnected. As far as I am concerned, I will not purchase an LG product again.

I bought my 83 years old mother an LG 42" TV (42LN5200) at Best Buy. I paid $426.99 for the TV (I still have my receipt). In approximately 14 months the TV would not come on when turned on. The screen had a blue background with no picture and no sound. My mother had to plug the TV in and out of the power box that came with the TV at least 8 to 10 times before the TV picture would display properly. She is still having to do this to get the TV to come on. I am very dissatisfied with this product and unless this problem is resolved I will NOT purchase any LG items in the future.

We purchased an LG 42" TV 2 years ago. At 11 months, it died. No sound, no picture. LG send out a serviceman who needed to order a new motherboard. He rescheduled when we received the part via UPS. Now one year later, no picture. Called LG again and they said the warranty had expired but they would extend it for 30 days so that we could get it fixed.

Yesterday, they had us take a picture of the front and the label on the back, then send those via text. They were to come out today to fix it. Well the serviceman just called to cancel because LG told him it needed a new screen and he did not have the part. The screen will take 2-3 weeks to get here. After the new screen is installed, that will leave one week left on the warranty. WTH? How can they tell by 2 photos that it is the screen? Their reasoning is they already replaced the motherboard so it must be the screen. After 2 service calls last year and the one coming up, plus parts, why can they not just send a new TV? We will never buy another LG product again!!! Never!!!

The day after we bought our son's TV, we were so impressed with the picture quality, we purchased the 42" LG Smart TV but after just 6 months, this also developed a fault (it kept switching itself off, leaving just the sound and no picture?). After phoning Currys again, they said "not a hardware fault, but a software fault that LG is aware of, and that a software update will be available in a few days". It was and TV is, so far, ok... Still a bit disconcerting that both TV's developed a fault though (both TV's are the LB models, by the way). My advice - pay extra and buy a Panasonic.

Diagnosis of the fault shows LED lamps in the screen have failed. Judging by the number of people with this issue why oh why haven't LG recalled. To be safe the repair person said they were going to order two central boards because they were not sure which one was the right part (there are ONLY two boards that it could be I was told). The next appointment was made for the following week.

I received a call saying the parts had not come in and they would contact me upon receipt of the boards. Both boards were received and the repairman was again scheduled another week out. Neither board worked!! I tried calling LG customer Service. What a joke!!! I spoke with three different agents from the Philippines (all of whom could barely speak English). LG Customer Service agent told me that all parts and labor are covered under a 1 yr warranty with the exception of negligence. Got the TV repaired. Cost $552.00, Insurance would not cover it. Contacted LG service to advise them of a problem with my TV and inquired about product/manufacturer's recall. They advised that they did not have any recalls for their TVs. Because I was curious I checked out your website. Given the number of dissatisfied consumers who took the time to register their complaint it would appear that LG have a lack of corporate integrity and are ducking their responsibility. I'LL NEVER AGAIN BUY AN LG PRODUCT. We have five TVs, I called Sony to get service on a six year old Sony, they fixed it for free, MANUFACTURERS RECALL.

My 55 inches 3D Smart TV is not switching. My daughter pressed a key on the remote which led to this display failure. The red light at right hand is flashing. Also the screen is all dark. There are instances that it ask for a control. What do we have to do to fix it?

In approximately January of 2013, my wife and I purchased a new LG 32" LCD television from hhgregg. The TV is used exclusively in our bedroom and my wife usually watches it at the most one hour per night before going to bed. Two months ago, the TV began abruptly shutting off and then coming back on without being touched. At first, I thought it may be a problem with our cable provider so I contacted them. They sent a tech to our home and the problem was seemingly fixed.

A few days ago, the TV began, again, shutting off and then coming back on for perhaps a few minutes before shutting off again. I contacted LG customer service and they told me that because their warranty had expired after the first 12 months of ownership, it would cost us $195 just to have one of their techs come to our house to determine the problem and then extra for whatever the problem cost to fix.

I contacted hhgregg customer service and explained my problem to them. They gave me the same answer as I received from LG. Because we didn't buy the extended warranty from them, we would have to pay to have the TV fixed. We disposed of an old Sony TV that we had owned for over 20 years recently, and that TV had never been serviced or needed repairs and it was used constantly. I am very angry with both LG for not standing behind their obviously defective products based on similar complaints that I have discovered concerning their TVs and also with HG Gregg for selling this junk. I certainly will not ever consider buying another LG product after my experience with them.

I purchased my LG 47" LED TV in Dec 2013. Last year we began having intermittent problems with the screen going blank. We could turn it back on so not a big deal at the time. Last week, 17 months after purchase the TV shuts off when we turn it back on, we get a quick flash of LG Life's Good then it goes blank and never comes back on again. I purchased an extended 3 year warranty from Target. They quickly handled getting a repairman out and just as a lot of reviews have said, the repairman tells us the screen is cracked! Our TV was set up on a wall unit and never moved from the day we bought it. We did not cause this crack! Of course, LG doesn't cover cracked screens so our extended warranty at all! After reading a majority of the reviews, it's very clear LG will be of no help. We have to purchase another TV now... It will NOT be an LG and BTW... Life's NOT Good with LG!

I bought an LG 55inch 55LB6300 tv. It had lines and a black box on it. I call LG to get it repaired. I also informed them that when I got the tv it had a dent on it. When I bought the tv as it was documented so they would not repair the tv. Lost out on a 600 bucks. I then was told I could get the same tv for 500 bucks so I bought the same exact tv. It then was having problems as they tried to blame it on the house electrical. I then tried the tv at another house and it did the same exact thing where it would shut off and if I run an appliances with a motor. I have been scammed out of 1,500 dollars. I am also a veteran of the US Marines and went to Iraq two times and still can't get help with a return for the first tv and my money back. I first thought LG was a good company. But after this I would never buy another LG product. And if you support the troops please don't buy from LG.

I would absolutely NEVER recommend buying a LG product and have been spreading this info with friends/family. Bought a LG Smart TV from Target in May 2014. By April 2015 we can get sound but no picture. When the TV is turned on, the LG logo flashes and the screen goes dark. The LG tech did nothing to help when I called in. I should not need to buy an extended warranty to make sure my TV has picture!! That is the essence of a TV. From the amount of complaints, dissatisfied customers, and people that have had this issue, I wish we could band together to make LG make this issue right for all of us. This company would have been given zero stars if that were an option.
