I signed up online. It asked for a debit/credit card to secure a deposit and checking account information for monthly withdrawals. First day I actually showed up at the gym, I had to fill out all of this information AGAIN. They literally wrote down my debit card information (including the 3 digits on the back) on a piece of paper. Then they told me that I needed to bring a voided check or something from the bank to verify that it was indeed MY checking account. I asked what was the point of even registering online? Total waste of time!

So then, they tell you that you have to be a member for a year in order to cancel with no fees. It DID NOT state this online! They refuse to waive the fee which means you are FORCED to stay unless you pay the cancellation fee! Mind you, this is the most BASIC gym I have ever been in. The staff is NOT friendly. I will be cancelling my membership as soon as my one year anniversary comes!

Went in to cancel my account. Signed the stupid pad and said I was good. Left with all confidence everything was good. Weeks later I get a transaction and it affected also my bank account I was about to close. It went into negative due to overdraft. Went into the store and only focused on saying no record on file, no signature. Assuming that nobody made a mistake while finalizing my account. They wouldn't return a lousy 40 bucks so the bank could return my money as well. Lost 100 bucks for no reason. I didn't use this damn account for months. I'm not even asking for that money back. I'm only asking for the account to be cleared. BROKE ** SAID NO SORRY, NO RECORD OF CANCELLATION. I hope this business goes broke because it seems it will making sure they keep every cent. Good luck **.

Planet Fitness won't cancel your membership. They make cancelling a nightmare. I went into New Philadelphia twice and signed the form to cancel being assured they would take care of it. This went on over 4 months. Finally in April I was told by the manager Bobbi that I should send a written copy to them and they would cancel my membership. I did so and kept a copy for myself. She froze my account for April. Lo and behold it came out for May 2016. I called this morning, got Elaine who told me they have had problems with corp cancelling and would have Bobbi call me.

Bobbi called me, was rude. Told me to come in for a 3rd time (with no guarantee that it would be cancelled) or send it certified mail. I shouldn't have to jump through more hoops at this point. It is a shame I have to pay $28 at my bank to stop Planet Fitness from taking money from my account. Poor customer service and a scam to keep taking your money!!! I will tell everyone I know not to do business with this company.

They say to send letters to cancel, then say they never got it. Still taking money from my account. I've called multiple times and the manager is never available or "Oh, she just stepped into a meeting." This place is a joke and they will rob you!! Planet Fitness has a way of still charging you even if you cancel your card, they will make your life a living hell!! And I will put this on blast! Along with all the other people that have been scammed and are being scammed. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH WITH THIS "GYM". God help your company and its dishonesty.

I wish I read these reviews before my wife and I joined. Just like sooo many other people canceling a membership is made almost impossible and when you think it's canceled they draft more money out of your bank. Well what I did is go into my bank and freeze my checking account from any other charges submitted by them. It cost me $35.00 for a stop payment but I feel it was worth it since the $39.00 yearly maintainer fee is coming up, and also they would clip me for another $20.05 mo. fee. The next club I join will not have auto withdrawal privilege with me. Good luck everybody.

I have never met a company so unprofessional on how they try to satisfy customer. If you deal with someone at the store they will give you nothing. If you deal with someone at corporate they will give you nothing. People have emergencies in life and things they have to tend to. If the company cannot help you with this situation, why are you in business? This is the second time I've had a situation with the company. You want my business but you don't want to satisfy me as a customer, how selfish is that. And as I looked on your site for complaints, you have more one-star complaints than 5 star complaints and no one is doing anything about it. I'm sorry to say that this is a company that I will not go back to in the future, but I do wish you luck on trying to change. P. S. I hope that you can see how serious this situation is but if not I don't think that you'll be in business long. Franchisees beware.

I signed up for a Planet Fitness membership in March of 2016. I am an active duty service member and have access to free gyms but choose this for convenience. Less than a week after signing up, I found out I am pregnant. I never even got a chance to set foot inside a gym. This is my fourth pregnancy and I have lost all three of my other babies due to multiple health conditions and complications. I knew this pregnancy would be considered high risk like the others and I would not be allowed to do any physical activity.

I called the front desk and explained the situation and a man, very politely told me bring in documentation showing my issue and they would cancel my membership no problem. I brought in the paperwork and a manager Katie called me to let me know they couldn't cancel my account unless my doctor wrote a note stating I was 100% disabled. This is insane.

So I asked for a regional manager to call me. David called and asked for my paperwork, I emailed it to him and then he called me to tell me there was NO way I could get out of my contract without paying the buyout fee. He said his manager was wrong and even if I was disabled they would still make me pay the fee. This place should be put out of business. They are robbing people of their money. The buyout fee isn't expensive but it's the principle. They have no compassion or understanding for people at all. They would rather me continue to pay or risk the life of myself and my unborn child than to cancel my contract. Do not use this gym. Whatever you do!

Trying to get my money back and the manager told me "I am a miserable ** who wakes up in the morning and looks for ways to make others miserable!" All I wanted was to get my money back and I am not getting my money back so far. I am fixed income and need every penny, so that makes me miserable, so be it!

I am a student who was in High School but had to switch to home bound for a while. I tell you this because I am extremely shy and have horrible social anxiety, this plays into this story. So, my mother and I wanted to join planet fitness and we decided she would just get the black card membership and I could be her guest. I have read many reviews on here about how horrible it is and it honestly was terrifying since we are new. I mostly saw billing disasters and hidden fee complaints. Really scary since we just joined this month.

Okay so, when we joined they were super nice and it was very quick and easy. The gym at the Parkersburg, WV location is AMAZING. It's clean and beautiful! The staff has been s nice that I'm starting to not feel scared when walking into the gym. The other people there are actually too busy focusing on working out to really notice anyone else, and plenty of them are probably worrying about people looking at them too. The machines are almost always working, if they are not, they get fixed very quick (stair stepper got fixed in less than 48 hours).

I wear a tank top, not spaghetti straps because that violates dress code (they have a sign that states the dress code on the wall before you even enter the lobby), I have not had any problems with it. I am very shy so I usually have a jacket on, but there comes a point where I feel safe and end up taking it off. I have seen many reviews saying that people abuse the lunk alarm and use it to laugh at people every ten minutes, but at the location that I am going to they have never used the lunk alarm (although I am new, I have spent many many hours there in the past month). I have seen people from the High School I went to and they saw me and made eye contact, it was scary in the moment, but when it passed I realized that I was alive and everything was alright. This location is amazing. This location is never packed, this location is great for people with social phobias and/or a bad body image. Thanks for reading, hope you make the right choice. (-:

Planet Fitness is not worth anyone's time. The employees are rude, they don't know how to fully explain a contract and it caused many many problems for me and my husband. We talked to several different employees and everyone of them had a different story for pricing. They don't have an exact date for when they take out your payment so they take out their money whenever they please.

There have been a few times where they took money out twice in one month for the same membership. Also, they have take out 35 dollars instead of our agreed amount of 10. Don't waste your time with this gym membership. All they do is screw up your bank account taking out whatever money they please and none of the employees know how to properly explain the contracts. If I could I would give them a 0 star rating for how crappy this place is. Be warned everyone.

On April 11, 2016, I Princess ** went into Planet Fitness located in St. Augustine for my daily workout. I was working out on a machine and I was told by one of the staff that I would have to leave the area if I had not signed up for the special classes that were being held. I declined the offer but thanked her anyway. I went to the front desk where I spoke to Rob about the policy and he was very aggressive. He kept verbally abusing me and threatening to cancel my membership. I wasn't disrespectful. I just proceeded to call the regional manager. He was also very rude.

Updated on 06/29/2016: I got in contact with Perry **, which is the regional manager of Planet Fitness. I explained to him everything that happened and the words that were exchanged by both Mr. ** and I. Mr. ** wanted to know what I wanted from the complaint that I had brought to his attention. I told him that I wanted an apology from Mr. **. and Mr. ** said "NO" to the apology. He said that Mr. ** was a 5-year veteran and that they had never had a problem with him. He said that my membership was not cancelled and that I could go back anytime I wanted to workout.

On April 12, 2016, when I walked into the gym, a staff member told me that I couldn't work out there, and that I could go to any Planet Fitness but that one. But there is not other Planet Fitness for at least 40 miles from St. Augustine. I asked him if he had documents that stated that I couldn't be there; he said, "No." I told him that I had talked with the regional manager who said that I could work out there. So I proceeded with my workout.

On April 13. 2016, my 13-year-old daughter and I walked to Planet Fitness and got ready to workout. Isaac, one of the staff members told me that I could no longer workout there. I asked why. He didn't give me an answer. So I asked that if I continued with my workout what would happen. And he said and I quote "You do what you have to do and I'll do what I have to do." I continued with my workout and shortly after, three sheriffs were escorting my daughter and I, out of the Planet Fitness. It was very embarrassing and my daughter was very upset. I was told that I was trespassing and could no longer workout on Planet Fitness's property. It was clearly discrimination against me, it had nothing to do with the Planet Fitness policy. It have everything to do the managers and how they chose to handle the situation. It was personal for them and that is why it is discrimination.

I went to the Seekonk, MA location and showed them all my documents about this membership being cancelled. The clerk spoke to the manager and left me a voicemail that yes indeed they were taking out money and will receive a credit of $180.00. Few weeks go by and I called to let them know I never received my money as they took out another $10.00. They said "oh the billing department said they didn't make an error and you WON'T be getting your refund." I called Corporate office. Left a voicemail. I emailed them. Never a return email. Nothing! Me and my daughter went to work out today, my granddaughter who is 3 was asleep so my son who is 17 was holding her so we could work out, she woke up and was sitting the whole time in a chair near the door coloring and not running nothing. When we walked in Lorena told us that it would be the only time that we could work out with the child there, when we explained that she would not be running around that she was going to be watched by her uncle and she was not in the gym - she was sitting in the chair near the door. She said no one should allow the child to be in there - I was rude to us.

I understand that there are rules and regulations but no where on the doors or in the gym area does it say no children are allowed, nowhere in the contract doesn't say no children are allowed. It says no children in the gym area under the age of 13. Clearly she was not in the gym area. But if those are the rules then they need to be posted, and even on your website it says, "Do you have daycare?" and you mentioned nothing about children not being able to be seated in the seating area away from the gym. But it is very rude for Lorena to consent continue having the conversation not being aware that I can hear her and that I am hurt the child's grandmother. Then she kept giving us the evil eyes the whole time.

I'm sorry I have myself my two daughters and a friend that all go to that gym because I go to it. I can understand if it was clearly posted and I can understand if the child is running crazy never once did she leave her chair and I have photos to prove it. She needs to learn how to talk to people and remember that these are the people that pay her salary. I have never had a bad experience in this gym and I've been going to it for a while they know me by name and their sweet people and they don't bother you but LOrena she's got to learn some manners and how not to talk to adults. Plus she was making more noise by six grooming at somebody who was working out there to bring her a turkey burger from us different place I thought that was highly unprofessional. I signed up for Planet Fitness years ago and after a year of going to that gym I canceled my membership. It was the end of my contract so there were suppose to be no issues. More than 8 months went by and one month my account was low. Since my account was low, when they deducted 29.99 from my checking and I got an overdraft fee, I noticed they had been charging me the whole time. I went in and complained and they wouldn't refund my money but assured me it wouldn't happen again. It did, it happened 4 more times. Then recently my purse got stolen so I canceled my debit card and took my money out of my account, while waiting for new card to arrive in the mail.

Well when I checked my account, after my card arrived, I had a negative balance over 400 dollars. I looked and saw it was all planet fitness. (They had my checking account number.) They charged me $29.99 and then since I had no money in my account, I would be -$29.99 and then I received a $30.00 return check fee from my bank. Since Planet Fitness' first attempt to rob me failed, they tried again, the next day. They CONTINUED to do this, until I noticed and had to freeze my accounts. Not only were they charging me over and over again, but the amounts they charged were inconsistent. One day it was $29.99, the next $19.99! DON'T waste your time with this gym! They literally rob you. Such a horrible franchise.

This by far, has been the worst customer service experience my husband and I have dealt with EVER. My husband was a member roughly 4 years ago and cancelled his membership in writing as directed by Planet Fitness 3 years ago after we decided to switch gyms. This past August (2015), we started being billed the monthly charge of $20.05 all of a sudden from Planet Fitness after years of having nothing billed because we were told our account was cancelled. We have called and mailed letters multiple times requesting what is going on and for this to be resolved. Each time, we have been told that the account is closed and we are being refunded the money that should have never been withdrawn in the first place.

Today, we get a notification from our bank that Planet Fitness has yet again made another automatic withdrawal from our account even though we have now closed that bank account. We immediately call and speak to the manager Jake who informs us they have no record of us calling, or our mail that we sent and that there is a past due balance on our account. There is no way we could have a past due balance since we canceled our membership YEARS AGO. Also, somehow our billing was updated after our membership was cancelled, which also makes zero sense. Why would we re-give our information when our membership was cancelled? The manager at the location has now informed us that he has gone into the system and cancelled the account. Now, if they can go in and "just cancel the membership"- why are we forced to send a letter?

In our opinion, we feel the cancellation letter is a joke due to the fact they can say "We never received", just like the excuse we received today, as well as all the other correspondence we have sent or called with. The manager at the location has given us the runaround. He was supposed to call us back and give us an update once he spoke to corporate and we never received a call back. At this point, we are taking action with our bank since we never authorized any of this payments from August 2015-now. The total we are owed in a refund is $180.45. After 8 months of dealing with this, we are considering legal action. We follow the instructions we were given, and we are still being screwed at this point by this company. I would never recommend joining this gym - no matter where you live.

It has been awhile since I have been to Planet Fitness, but I know now what I was missing elsewhere. Free pizza on Fridays is not a good sign at any gym and it really took a jab at my self-control when I could smell it while I was working out. The reason my boyfriend and I decided to look elsewhere however, was because of the so-called "Lunk Alarm." Most of the time when it went off, it was just some person new to the gym who put on more weight than they should've and came down a little too fast. And what did these people get? A loud annoying buzzer and the staff pointing and laughing at them.

At the time I had major social anxiety and while I was there, I was petrified that I would make the same mistake that it kept me from pushing myself like I wanted to. The gym I go to now is a bit more expensive but well worth the price. There's no judgement, help from the instructors, and plenty enough room to keep to yourself. The one good thing I will say about Planet Fitness was the tanning beds. $30 a month for unlimited tanning is a pretty good deal in any book. It wasn't worth all the stress for me unfortunately but if you're going for the treadmills and tanning, it may be worth it for you.

I have been a member twice at Planet Fitness. The first time was ok, they were relatively new and I was new to the gym experience. They have pizza on certain days which made me think they don't take their clients seriously. They are ok for what you get a super cheap gym that cares about volume. I would give them a higher rating except for their cancellation policies. They make it very easy to cancel and as difficult as possible to cancel. I signed up at this location over a year ago and have never been that is over a year's worth of membership dues paid without any service in return.

We moved to the San Marcos area and I joined a competitor that rhymes with Bold's Gym. The gym that rhymes with Bold's does not have pizza days. I go in lift, cardio, shower and leave. I actually pay less for Bold's through work than I pay for Planet Fitness. I called today and get the cancellation spill from the guy on the phone. He is a nice enough person. He finally admitted that yes, the franchise owner makes it as difficult as possible to cancel hoping to get a few months more of fees out of clients. He said that he has complained about it but they do not listen. So this guy gets the brunt of brutal phone calls from jerks like me. They are a volume based business. Why make customers mad when they move or change jobs?

Within hours of writing Planet Fitness, I was contacted by a regional Manager. This gentleman was extremely professional and I was told that this would be handled immediately. The next day I was contacted again by him. He stated that Himself and several other manager visited this location, the guys that caused this incident had their memberships cancelled and they are no longer allowed on premises. They also stated that there is new management at this location and that this type of behavior will no longer be tolerated here and promised that they would clean up and get this location back to the standard it should be.

I am very pleased with how fast and professional this was handled.

    Original Review: Feb. 29, 2016

I am writing in regards to an incident occurring around 10:00 am on 2/29/16 at the Finneytown, OH location at 8501 Winton Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45231. This type of behavior of the thug crowd is becoming common place at this location and being allowed here. I was using a cable machine while another patron was working out at a nearby location and began his normal loud rapping while working out. This is an obnoxious behavior none the less and makes many other patrons annoyed and uneasy around people like this. I politely asked the man if he would mind to not do that while working out as he was bothering myself and I could clearly see others in the area. The man immediately became hostile and told me to mind my own ** business unless I want to get knocked out and if I didn't want to shut the ** we could go into the locker room and fight.

The trainer of this location immediately came over upon hearing this man yelling and did his best to de-escalate his yelling. I spoke to the trainer for a moment to state that I only asked him if he would mind not rapping out loud while working out. I therefore moved to the other side of the gym to the free weights, which I was immediately followed by this man. At this time he went over to a group of which I believe were his friends and the group started cussing and threatening me. I proceeded to do my best at this time to just ignore the situation but the group then came over and stood around me yelling that they found a new work out location. Once again I stopped what I was doing and began to relocate back to another side of this gym. Once again I was followed by the same group of thugs. Threatening me and harassing me and telling me I'm going to again get knocked the ** out for not minding my own business.

At this point I promptly left the business for fear of my safety. These patrons must immediately have their membership revoked and these types of people should not be permitted at a facility like this. The signs on the wall clearly state to keep phone conversations to the lobby, keep aisles clear, and non gymitation. This type of behavior seems to be becoming common place for this location. Many evening I have left here and have seen others leave due similar behavior. Groups of loud gang type individuals taking over areas of the gym and or several workout stations or machines at a time and have forced myself or others off of machine because they were quote using it or cycling on and off of it with other machines or free weights. At this time I do not feel safe at this location until behavior of this nature is asked to leave or revoked.

If an incident of this nature does occur again at this facility I will not hesitate to call the police here and file harassment or threatening charges against people. I, as well as other should not be subjected to having to listen to groups rapping vulgarly out loud or being made to feel uneasy or fear for our safety at any giving point at a gym. One staff member, the trainer did do his best to try to calm down this group, but I was feeling that even he was feeling uneasy about the attitude and threats these individuals were making. I would like to be contacted about this type of behavior being allowed on these premises and what steps will be taken in the future for issues like this.

I called their customer service number in which she said I cancelled in July and that if I told my bank they would send me to collections. So now they owe me $160 but do not realize what they are saying. If you sign up they will never cancel you regardless of letter, phone call, or Facebook messaging, and they will try to ruin you financially. I normally love this gym, but my experience today has seriously changed my opinion. This morning I go the gym (early too 6:00 am) and the front desk girl (Tiffany) clocks my card in and I head out to work out. About 30 minutes later the guest I invited arrives, so I go to the front door to scan him in, and right in front of everyone (3 other people coming in and my guest) the front desk girl (Tiffany) shouts "do you know you have a balance?" Which of course I logged right into my Planet Fitness account to show there is no balance, and my next payment is due on 2/17. She then says "the online system doesn't update balances". I said "BS", because there is a section right on the account for past due balances. She says "it is never accurate".

So I go through my bank account and show her all of the transactions (because I know those are accurate) they have automatically taken out of my account since I've been there (Now keep in mind I am now 20 minutes into my 45 minute workout arguing with Tiffany, who is giving me SO much attitude I can't even believe it). So then she has the nerve to say, "Oh you can just go work out and deal with the billing thing later". Really, coz now I have 10 minutes before I have to leave to get ready for work, and I can't think of anything other than billing since she put me on blast like that. Then she says, "well the only person who can do anything about this is my manager and she isn't in until 9". So I said, "why are you talking about billing then if you can't do anything?" She says she will have her manager call me at 9 when they get there.

*9:48* no call. So I call them. Another girls says, "Oh yeah, I heard her talk to my manager about that this morning but my manager had to go and won't be back until noonish". Really? Noon-ish? So clearly customer satisfaction is a joke, along with billing. Why have an online account if it is NEVER accurate. I am going to corporate with this if they do not call back before 1 and I am cancelling my membership. Not worth the pain! #PLANETBOGUS.

Billing seniors, many too old to understand billing requirements. I am 81 years old myself. I was never told at Planet Fitness in Dayville, CT that my contract was about to expire. I was billed $48.00 from my checking account. This is wrong. As I stated I spoke to other seniors about this and they had similar complaints. This is wrong. I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. The answer I received from Planet Fitness was as I expected very negative. This company is a prime example of corporate greed. There should be a class action suit brought against them. This may be the only way to make them change the way they run their business. Thank you.

In all month I only used one time the service 30 minutes. They charge me for that month $12 dollars plus $42 more in total $54.00 for one month.

When you are going to get your membership they are very nice and never said nothing about the microscopic font. In other words they are charging $54 dollars for the first month and not $10 dollar like the advertisement said.

Once with my key tag and once manually. If the corporate Planet Fitness wanted you to have my personal information, then they should allow you access in their system. If Planet Fitness corporate wants them to have my personal information, they should allow them to access my information in their system. Almost two years ago they switched to a bar code signing making it easier to sign in. My contract says that I have to sign in, but it does not say how many times I have to sign in. Me, my husband and his bro all signed up with Planet Fitness 12-31-15 in Florida with the manager and she explained the whole thing to us in what we thought was detailed and true. She made statements that nothing is due till Feb, only the 1$ per person fee. We asked a few times..."Nothing will be taken out of my acct until Feb?" The manager said "Nothing till Feb." OK sounds good, filled out our online applications, had a few problems. She said she only had the two iPads for the application sign up and helped us all with it... She accidentally charged us 5 times for the 1$ start up fee for each person, I called in when I noticed it on my bill, she fixed by the next business day... OK. Now it's Jan-19-16 and I'm paying bills and I don't have the money in my account, 60$ has been taken out by Planet Fitness.

I go there immediately and they say she is not available and at her request not to bother her when she is off work. I said "This is an emergency." To make this short she said she never said any of that! And said she had emailed us our monthly fee's due dates which is another lie, crazy how all 3 of us did not get that email. Basically got nowhere with her. I asked for a number of her boss. She said she would call them for me so I called corporate and filed a complaint. I was getting nowhere with her. I said we have all the intention to pay... just in the month she stated. Now I found out she later on Jan-22-15 canceled all our memberships. She told my husband's bro it's because I called corporate and she also said she would refund the 60$ she took out for all three of our memberships, she emailed a letter saying we are canceled that very hour. There is no reason why, it just says management that's it!

I went down to talk with her and ask why she canceled us out. Her words ("I felt it would be better that you no longer use this facility"). ** You can't kick someone out because you got a complaint!!! I said "Why did you tell my husband's brother it's because I called corporate!?" All she could say is "No no I did not say that. I figured you were so unhappy here. I'll just refund you your money back," and that's the end of it. It's done! I asked exactly what she was returning... the 60$ she took out. I said "Well it's not in my account." The manager stated "Well it can take up to 7 business days. I'm not to sure on the exact length..." I just walked out... so how is it that when you screwed up in the beginning you could refund my money in less than two days but 7 to however long days now!!!

I plan on calling the Better Business Bureau and filing complaints every day with the Planet Fitness corporate until I get my money and our memberships back. This is wrong on so many levels. P. S. My coworker stated to me today that she was asked to keep her jacket on because her fitness may make others uncomfortable or she would have to leave. Really you're not allowed to be comfortable in your gym clothes... what is that!? Do not use this gym, Planet Fitness. Judgmental free zone... Yeah that's another lie. As a gym that prides itself on developing a "no judgment/critics environment" - I certainly feel unfairly criticized by recent actions taken at my local Planet Fitness. I pay my membership dues there as a regular member, and obey the clearly advertised rules. It's not an environment for power lifters, and it's a fairly small facility, so I understand the concept of "no grunting" or "no dropping/slamming weights".

However, this week, I started a fast for religious reasons. Per my fast, I carry a gallon of water with me to stay hydrated. When I walked into the gym to get a mild workout in, I was told that I couldn't bring the gallon in with me, or I'd have to leave. As any reasonable adult would, I asked, "Why can't I have my gallon of water?" The representative said it was against policy, as it can be intimidating to some clients. How can carrying a gallon of water be intimidating? Furthermore, what kind of health club makes it POLICY to not be allowed to carry around a gallon of water? To say the least, I cancelled my membership immediately, paid the stupid $58 early termination fee, and took my business to LA Fitness.

I've been going to this Planet Fitness location for the past few months (I usually go to the Daytona one). This Planet Fitness is absolutely horrible. The staff are some of the most disrespectful people I have ever met, and the management seems to not care about their rude staff. Last night when working out I was harassed by a Kelley. She approached me and informed to me that my membership was canceled. I told Kelley that I canceled my membership right after I paid for it and my membership was good until the 17th of this month. She brought me to the front desk where I spoke with Nick. Nick began to insist that my membership was canceled and I would not be able to work out.

He then told me to go to the Daytona Planet Fitness and figure out what's wrong with my membership. As soon as I left I gave the gym a negative rating (they have a thing by the exit door where you can rate the gym). This made Nick angry and he began to tell me not to come back. I went to the Daytona Planet Fitness and they told me my membership was still active. As soon as I heard that I went back to the one in Ormond and as soon as I walked in the door, Kelley walked to the phone and began to call the police.

I then left and decide to speak to management in the morning. I spoke to the manager and began to explain her employees' rude behavior. She seemed to not care and even decide to defend their actions. I was appalled and then requested to speak to the franchise owner. As soon as I spoke with the franchise owner I began to understand that the staff were really close to each other and he was already informed about the incident. He began to be very hostile and informed me that I was trespassed from this location and I would not be able to work out here anymore (I wasn't even informed by the manager I was trespassed). I wouldn't recommend anyone to workout here, not just because of the unprofessional, shady staff. The equipment is terrible and I actually had a sit-up machine break on me and the gym is poorly maintained. There is a lot of dust and the equipment seems to not be clean. This Planet Fitness location is horrible...

After sending two cancellation letters over the course of a year, I am still getting billed by these guys. When I called to discuss this with them, they told me that since I didn't send my letters certified mail, they would not honor my request to cancel. They told me that certified mail is a requirement. According to their website it is preferred, but not required. I also told them in person before I moved away, and was told I needed to send a letter and in person wasn't an option. Neither the certified letter nor the the fact that I cannot cancel in person are true according to their website: To cancel your monthly membership and stop the billing of the Monthly Membership Fee on or around the 17th of the month, the club must receive written notification delivered to the club on or before the 10th of the month either in person or preferably via certified mail to the club address.

To date I have sent 2 letters and had 3 phone calls, and as far as I can tell I am still a member. Their cancellation policy seems intentionally error prone to maintain a membership because why else in the information age should only certified letters be accepted? Either the website is incorrect or they have been mistaken/dishonest, but either way, on more than one occasion, they have misrepresented their cancellation policy.

So like everyone else, I wrote a letter and cancelled my membership only to find out later that they had continued to take money out of my account monthly and then the ANNUAL payment That was the last straw. I contacted my bank and tried to fight it and but to no avail.

So I asked the girl about holiday specials. She's telling me what she has available and I tell her I would like to pay for the whole year up front including their annual payment. Her answer to me, "WE DO NOT DO THAT." My dumbfounded response, "HUH??? Excuse me?" She tells me that they do not take CASH payments, that the only form of payment that they take is directly out of your checking account and only once a month. REALLY??? OKIE DOKIE. I've been going there a year now and have had to clean the bed top to bottom as well as put paper towel on the floor because of the hair and dirt. I have only seen two people clean the beds in this past year, one who no longer works there. I have repeatedly said something about how dirty the rooms and beds are.

Today the manager lied and said that he & his workers clean them. Right in front of him he watched me clean the big balls of hair off the floor & walked away. He was rude to me because I opened the cleaning closet & grabbed a roll of paper towel. I didn't go all the way in the rm, I have done that countless times & never had a problem. The dispenser is messed up & it's hard to get the paper towel out. I have never seen him personally clean anything. He has been rude to me since I started going there, so I try to stay away from him. I've said hi with no response or a dirty look. The other workers know who I am & that I clean the beds before use so they have never had a problem with me grabbing paper towel from the cleaning room. I also do it so they can see that's what I'm getting, or the spray bottle, because they have one that when you spray it, it leaks all over you. The bottle should've been fixed or thrown out.

I can't put lotion on because I have to use my 10 mins to clean it. It's unprofessional & disrespectful that them rooms are as dirty as they are. I'm going to take pics when I go next to prove they are not cleaned by any workers or client. I have also never seen another client clean the bed when done. The contract says clean what you use when done. I clean before & after use. It takes me 10-15 mins to clean it before use & not even 5 when done. I would never recommend this gym to anyone, most of all the Southfield location. I can pay the same money & go some place I don't have to do the employees job. I am cancelling my membership asap. I was charged $19.77 a month and in June of this year, two months after I signed up and 2 days after they took a payment, they charged me $57. I called to see what this was and they said a "yearly fee". I had only been signed up for 2 months!

When I called this time I told the lady that I had only gone once, that I couldn't do it, and since they're going to continue to charge me that she needed to just cancel me as it's cheaper than $20 a month for a year. She never canceled my membership so I'm still being charged monthly for this, something I've used 1 time and can't even use or let my family use! This is what I was told too. This place is a rip off.

They tell you only about the low charge per month and will never inform you that you cannot cancel your membership as you want and instead will make you pay even more with sneaky charges which you were never informed while they made u sign up membership form. They are horrible and if you do not want to get stuck with their stupid rules, do not join this gym.

Last summer I went into the Planet Fitness and talk to one of their staff about their membership options. He told me "we are on a promotion period, so one of the option you have was 10 dollar a month, no contract", which meant I can cancel any time. So, I wanted to be sure that I heard it right, I repeated back to him "10 dollar a month, no contract" and he said " that's right" and nothing else.

Seconds later, I filled out a form and give out my credit card information. Long story short, when I checked my credit card statement at the end of month, I saw $10.70 being charged to my card twice, and only five days apart. The next I went to work out I took the chance to ask the staff and he said "it was the start up fee". Since it was just Ten bucks so I just let that goes. About three months later, Fall semester started and I could use the gym at my University, so I told them to cancel my membership. I was explosive, when I heard the words came out from the guy face telling me that I have to pay 57 dollar for early cancellation fee. I ask to speak to his manager and he said he is the manager (I almost punch him in the face, I was).

But I thought I would rather come back another day and speak to the guy who sign me up. So I was able to get them to cancel my membership, but I have to wait until the end of the month. On the first day of the next month I saw a transaction $30.1 charged to my credit card from the Planet Fitness. So I called them, and they say "it is an annual fee". Firstly, I was never inform that there was an annual fee. Secondly, if there was no contract why would it be an annual fee? So now I have to keep my membership to make a better use of that annual fee. So, Planet Fitness does not have the 10 dollar a month with no contract. Their advertising is misleading in every freaking ways. Someone need to take them to the court of law. So. Please Think Twice before you sign the paper and ask them for a hard copy because you are about to be a victim of a major financial criminal.

But just because I didn't need PF, PF decided they needed me. $21.36 was auto withdrawn from my account every month and I paid it every month. But on 08/12/15 I realized that I no longer needed nor used their services so I went into their facility to cancel. The man at the counter told me ok, but I would be charge one additional billing cycle fee because it was after 08/10/15. (Damn it, I should have done it Saturday). "Ok that is fine" I told him. So on 08/17/15 auto withdrawn from my account was $21.36, yay I'm done with PF. Wait but there is more. On 09/17/15 $21.36 came out again. Hold on dude said one billing cycle what gives. So I call them up today, they can see the cancellation but oh it wasn't ever processed so it never went through.

So now I have to go prove that I'm me, that I own the bank account it came out of and all these other loops for my $21.36 back. Wait so you mean to tell me I have to do a circus act because I called and noticed you charged me when you weren't supposed to? So riddle me this then? How many months would you have charged me? Would I've paid my Yearly dues in October too via auto withdraw if I hadn't have caught it? How many other people have you guys got with this scam of, oh we forgot you cancelled it scam? Seriously DO NOT PLANET FITNESS!!! Find a gym that will take cash for dues or better yet do what I did, Invest in some equipment each month instead of paying a gym membership. Eventually you'll have everything you need and nobody can cancel that on you.

What a liar! The fact that she could lie with such ease to a paying customer is disgusting. And you know what I hate to say this but it always the black people that do this garbage to their own. I will warn everyone I see from now on about Planet Fitness and their sheisty, money grubbing ways. Planet Fitness in Conroe Texas bullies and discriminates against obese teens. My daughter was laughed at by 3 of the Planet Fitness staff. My daughter is overweight, and very conscious of her weight. It was a big step for her to join a gym. She was so excited for the advertisement of Judgement Free Zone and No Critics. Today after being laughed at by the staff she is traumatize and will not ever go back. My daughter's friend was also there to witness the behavior of the staff. My daughter and her friend even heard the staffs talking and laughing about me while they were waiting for me outside of the locker room as I gather my things to leave.

We join on her 13th birthday, August 6, 2016. She was so excited, Morgan who signed her up told her she could use the massage chair and hydro massage chair after her workout. We had been there approximately five times since her birthday, and each time she used the massage chair after her workout. Today was an exception. The staff, Kaitlyn (manager), Morgan, and an African American girl was all 3 standing behind the counter and all three told her she could not use the chair and was also rudely laughing and smirking at her. 3 adult laughing and smirking at a 13 years old is bullying. Again the claim of Judgement Free Zone and No Critics at Planet Fitness is false advertising. I explain to them, all the times we have been there we have used the massage chair. Every time we asked for a coin for the massage chair no one ever told us that she could not use the massage chair.

As I was explaining this to Kaitlyn (manager), Morgan, and an African American girl they were also were smirking and rolling their eyes at me and told me I was being confrontational. The customer service rep Morgan, whom signed us up on August 6, 2016 lied and claim we left after we signed up. When, in fact, we signed up, stayed and worked out, and she gave us the coins to use the massage chair. I understand someone trying to save their job, but then to smirk, laugh, and roll their eyes at the customer and their child is just plain poor customer service. WARNING: Do not take your teens there, they will be traumatize!

Since they just took out another payment out of my account I thought good now I can go and start working out again. I told the person at the desk that I wanted to speak with a manager but was told that Ericka was off till Monday.

On Monday I called to speak with her and she started telling me that I needed to bring in my statement for her to look at (like I have that kind of extra time in my life) so I asked to speak with the GM and her reply was she was. She happily gave me the number to who she said was her boss but failed to tell me it was in New York. So again I thought I will try again once I get home and have my computer with my bank account up and their account up and I did.

At every turn from the beginning she was trying her hardest to be right, and not resolve the problem. I mean all I really wanted was to be able go to the gym and workout. I looked over all of my payments and by all means I am behind 1 but never did she try and work this out. All she wanted to do was argue and fight. There is NO WAY IN HELL I WILL EVER GO TO THE CLUB. The manager is a nasty, unhappy person who has no concept of Customer Service. Tomorrow I will call that New York number and hopefully resolve this and change memberships. Unfortunately for us we didn't check our credit card statement close enough. Turns out that we have been paying for a membership for more than a year that we have not been using. Not sure how they managed to go through at least one credit card number change.

On the 2nd number change they started to send us bills saying that we were behind. When we tried calling them on this, they would not return our calls, and you can't cancel your membership if you owe money so they kept billing us while we tried to figure out what was going on (2 more months). Even though they could see that she hadn't used the Gym in over a year they still demand the past due before they would let us cancel and we still had to pay for the next month because it was "past" the magical day. They claimed to returned our calls, but if they did they didn't leave any voicemails as those are emailed to us so we would have record of those.

So be aware. Their cancellation practice is as difficult as possible to make sure they can sucker you for all they can. Must be done in person at the store, etc. Again even though they could clearly see my wife hadn't used the gym in over a year we still had to become current to cancel in person and pay an extra month. They also told us we need the original sheet of paper from when we tried to cancel 12 to 18 months ago to prove that we tried to cancel. DON'T JOIN!!!

Ok, so we both went into the gym in person and asked to cancel our memberships. Our contracts were up so they said that was fine. We both signed for the cancellation and that was it. I asked.. This includes all bank service charges."

Um... how were any monthly dues "uncollectible"?? My records clearly show that $39.98 was taken from our joint account every single month since last year Feb. Now I have heard and read the horror stories about this place saying that it's very easy to sign up, but they make your life miserable when you try to leave! Absolutely did not expect to get this THREE MONTHS LATER!!!?? And what the heck is it even for if you clearly deducted funds from our account for the past 14 months!? I have belonged to this Planet Fitness gym at Curlew Rd & US Hwy 19 in Palm Harbor Florida for several years. Unfortunately each year it gets worse & my friends and gym buddies keep leaving: If a machine breaks it takes a long time before it is repaired & they are old machines. Same when the vinyl tears on the machines it takes even longer to repair. Same if a light bulb burns out. A few weeks ago a paper towel dispenser that is used to wipe down the machines after usage fell off the column, now they have no intention to install or reinstall another one. You have to go way out of your way to get paper towels & the spray bottle, so lots of people who would have wiped the machines down, no longer do so. Today, the 2nd Tuesday of the month is bagel Tuesday - yes you can guess - there were no bagels. Even when they do have the bagels they always run out of coffee.

We can see how much they have cut back from prior years even after making allowances for the Snowbirds leaving. A number of us will be giving up our membership after it expires as we signed up for the annual membership. Management is too cheap and has an attitude. They feel that since the membership fee is only $10 per month, $99 for annual that they have a right to cut corners at the memberships expense. They should wake up and realize that there are other good gyms at the same fees. Soon we will be saying sayonara to Planet Fitness.

FYI - I hate when I leave my gym clothes at home... But I walk everywhere and I just don't have the energy to walk home after work then back to the gym to work out.

When I joined Planet Fitness it was for $10/month. No one said anything about a yearly charge that they make to your account without your knowledge. When I complained to the manager of PF Ridley Park, Pa I was told, "Too bad, there's nothing I can do. That is our policy." I asked for the name of the Regional Manager and was told she could not give it out that I would have to "just send an email" (that they could then ignore) instead of talking with someone directly. Is this any way to run a business?

He would make no exceptions for those who had special arrangements with previous management. I pointed out that he was strict about the gym sticking to their new rule not to allow regular members this frill reserved for black card members. He should be just as strict with agreements in place between regulars and the old managers.

I have been a member of this same gym, the Gastonia, NC location for 3 years except for a period of time when I was not working. A few days ago I asked if I could reduce my membership since I am no longer using the counterparts that are offered that go along with the $19.99 monthly fee. The "girl" that I was talking to simply refused to work with me so I asked to speak to a manager. She basically ignored me. Then I said, "Well I would be better off cancelling than continue to pay the monthly fee", just to reduce my membership. WTH? Then I asked for a manager AGAIN, she said, "Well, they are not going to do what you want to do." Then she proceeded to fill out a cancellation form??? I never said that I wanted to cancel. As a matter of fact, I told her 4 times that I did not want to cancel. That I just wanted to reduce my membership.

So after she completed the cancellation form, I looked at her and said, "I do not want to cancel!" Then I asked for her general manager info - she reached over, grabbed a business card and handed it to me. So today, I called to speak to this general manager and was told that she went into the bathroom and was put on hold. They came back to the phone and said, "She is on another call". I said that I would continue to hold. Then a "boy" got on the phone and said, "I'm a manager. Can I help you?" I said, "No thank you but I need to speak to your general manager." He said, "Well, I'm not sure where she is, I think she is on another call." Then he continued 5 more times insisting that he could do exactly the same things as the general manager. I insisted to him that there were particular levels of issues that only particular levels of management could handle. He began laughing, so I said to him, "Why do you think it’s funny?"

At that point I was in such disbelief that there are 10-year-olds running this store. I told him that if he is not going to allow me to speak with the general manager then I would just call her boss. Here's the kicker!!! Minutes later I got a voice mail. The "boy" manager from the store said that they have cancelled my membership and because of my "behavior" I am now barred from all Planet Fitness locations. I am like WTH? Nobody would allow me to speak to anyone in upper management and for the record, I did NOT want to cancel. All I wanted to do was reduce my membership. BTW, I never raised my voice or cussed at these people.

We were told (as in all advertising) there is no contract, month to month charges. That is not the case. You are charged monthly $10.93 per membership. However if you cancel before 12 months you are required to "buyout" original contract, or pay for full 12 months. That is a contract. So we waited until contract was set to expire, as info was provided by the local office and cancelled membership. So, I contact our bank to stop the debit from being allowed to debit. You know, just in case....The next thing we know they have (tried!) debited annual membership fees from our account for a membership we did not have.

So several weeks later, we receive letters (had 2 memberships) saying we owe the annual fees. I mailed a copy of the membership cancellations with the letter back to the office. We get a call stating they had been trying to contact us numerous times. Not true. My husband contacted the office immediately and they now say that we owe the annual membership fee because we didn't cancel 5 days before the fee. The fee were were unaware of. So, needless to say, don't sign membership!!! This is the Chattanooga, TN office.

So, my name is** and I'm a NEW GYM goer and the first GYM I have ever gone to was the wonderful Planet Fitness. The very first thing I noticed when walking into the area was how cleanly everything was! The wonderful receptionist whose name I believe to be **, was extremely helpful and informed that the locker rooms, (which I got to see, super nice looking!!! It's bring your own lock, so you know there's no janitor that has a all unlock key.) Are cleaned every fifteen minutes! That's so crazy! And to prove that, as we walked in on the tour, a lovely lady was cleaning them as it was empty. Their showers are large, and private. Not to mention two separate and closed doored changing rooms for those who are a little more shy.

Another wonderful thing that caught my eye, is that EVERY machine on the main floor has its own television!!! (Don't forget to bring your own headphones.) How cool is that! I unfortunately did not get to meet the free train or on my visit, but it strikes me as odd that there was only one for the location. When asked, they said that they were still going through resumes for a second trainer, and that they hadn't met another individual that met the same criteria that they required to work for them. When I was going around the nice 30 minute, and 12 minute sectioned off areas I noticed multiple trash cans in which bottles of cleaning solution and paper towels were located.

At first I found it kind of trashy to be honest with you, but when I actually stopped to think about it, how nice is it that if maybe you have a phobia of germs, you could self clean the machine before getting on it. They do ask that you wipe down every machine after you use it, which I find nice as well. Something that I loved hearing right away on my tour was that Planet Fitness does NOT service body builders or and professional athletes, so the "judgment free zone" really does hold up to its standards.

During the last two years I have asked Planet Fitness several times if I could pay my membership fees three to four months in advance. THEY ALWAYS REFUSE! They always insisted upon being in my bank account--now I know why. Eight months ago I got 20 dollars behind; I thought it odd they allowed me to pay cash at the counter. Two months later, my Master Card expired and Planet Fitness could not deduct monthly fees--yet no one said anything to me. I think it may have happened when my bank issued new debit cards but I'm not exactly sure. At any rate, I thought my monthly payments of 10 dollars per month along with the 30 or 40 dollars per month they deduct in either October or November were right on schedule.

During the last year I have been in Planet Fitness on three occasions--once to run to the restroom--and twice to workout. Today I got my first email from them telling me they could not process my payment. I went to Planet Fitness and was told I owed 150 dollars because they had not been able to deduct money out of my account in the last 7 months--because my Master Card had expired. I asked why I had not been notified sooner and no one had any answers--I was even told that I had been utilizing a free membership for the last 7 months--even though I had barely set foot in Planet Fitness during the last year.

I then made a request that my membership be cancelled. I was promptly told they could not cancel my membership until my account was paid in full (I need to point out that Planet Fitness staff has always been very polite to me personally--even in spite of the aforementioned shrewd comment.). Nevertheless, now I suddenly understood the scam. I would not be able to workout at Planet Fitness until my account was paid in full yet my monthly fees would always be due until my membership had been cancelled. In other words, I COULD NOT PAY CASH TO GET MY ACCOUNT 3-4 MONTHS AHEAD BUT I COULD PAY CASH ONLY TO GET IT CAUGHT UP. Even though I had barely set foot in Planet Fitness during the last year they still reserved the right to utilize a legalized scam in order to fatten their pockets. I told them I would go ahead and pay the 150 dollars in order to have my account immediately cancelled.

The on-duty manager realized I had not been coming in as often as I used to and he also recognized the fact that I had offered on several occasions to pay my account 3 to 4 months in advance. He deducted 40 dollars off of my bill; I then swiped my Master Card and paid Planet Fitness 90 (undeserved) dollars. LOLLL!!! Staff then asked me if I still wanted to cancel my membership... OF COURSE I DID! PLANET FITNESS IS NOTHING BUT A LEGALIZED SCAM! THAT'S WHY THEY LIMIT YOUR FREEDOM TO PAY YOUR MEMBERSHIP FEES IN ADVANCE... and I'm like everybody else. I don't like the way it feels to be taken advantage of... NICE JOB PLANET FITNESS!!!

When I canceled on the 13 I was told that after I pay my $10 I was good to go. First I would like to address all the complaints about gym memberships. Most gyms will take money out of your checking account. They will let you charge training sessions, but most will require a checking account that they will pull money out of every month. That's just the nature of the beast. As far as cancellation, most will explain their cancellation policy to you in full before you sign up. If you weren't paying attention that is not the fault of the gym. I have signed up for Planet Fitness $10 a month plan. I am NOT inbound to a one-year contract as the 19.99 a month plan is. I have a seven day window to cancel my membership if need be. If you signed up for a black card instead of a white card, yes you will be fined because you are signing up for a one year contract.

Now for the gym, it is a lovely gym that has all the equipment that my $50 a month gym had, except for there is no swimming pool and for $40 a month I think I can do without the swimming pool. Everything is extremely clean, the equipment is new, and there is someone there all the time ready to help you with your workouts. You cannot be shy, you cannot just go in and start working out and expect to know what you are doing if you have never had training before. I am looking forward to belonging to this gym since it is so much cheaper than all the other gyms and they offer just as much equipment as all the other gyms do. And they are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week! So for $10 a month I am quite excited to be a member of this gym

I have belonged to other gyms in the past and by far this is the best deal yet. Do people realize just how much it costs to run a gym? You have air conditioning, you have equipment that costs a fortune, you have employees to pay, you have building rent and electricity to pay, there are a lot of expenses in running a gym that people just don't seem to realize when they complain about the price or the cancellation policies. The staff was very courteous and I think as long as you go to a gym with an open mind and are looking forward to working out, the staff will work with you. You cannot go in expecting the staff to read your mind and know what your health problems are and what you are looking for. You have to tell them.

One day, I decided I would skip the steps in the middle. Most of the time my husband and I were the only ones in the room. Throughout our time in the room several people would pop in somewhere in the middle then leave. 3 rather large young black guys, tatted up would come in several times, then go back to weights then come back. Two young ladies, stood on the outside of the room. They waited for the black men to leave then came in and told me to leave because I wasn't following the circuit by missing the steps in the middle. As I left the room, an older black lady stopped me and said they did the exact same thing to her but did not say anything to the young black men.

As I left Planet Fitness I told the girl at the front desk if they are going to approach seniors they should approach the young black guys too. And I said it loudly! I left the building. As I got to my car... this little guy approached me. He was yelling... I kept walking and asked who he was. He boasted his chest out and yelled, "I'm the COO of PLANET FITNESS MIDWEST AND YOU'RE GOING TO LISTEN TO ME!" I told him I wasn't and continued to walk toward my car. That made him even madder. I asked if it made him feel like a big guy coming at a 60 yr old woman and a man that was recovering from a stroke. He told me I was going to listen to him!!! I got in my car and shut my door. He grabbed my door and opened it... I shut it... He opened it... I shut it and again one more time. I locked the door and left.

There was no mercy for my forgetfulness when I called to see if any of the money could be refunded. Just trying to catch a break. I understand that businesses need to make fair profits, but I'm betting they make quite a bit from people like me who never cost them any money, but pay and pay month after month for nothing. I learned my lesson and it was my own fault for sure - just putting this out there for anyone who is like me, well-intended, but forgetful.

Honestly, I joined PF because it's very low cost compared to all its competitors, not having therefore charging me for amenities I won't use (pool, zumba et al classes, equipment designed strictly for body-builders) - very much appreciated. So, when the a/c goes unfixed for a month, as do numerous machines & headphone hookups for TV's (these have yet to be fixed after at least one year), when there's only one of the most popular equipment and two of those less used, when the massage chair is so noisy relaxing, therefore using it is not an option, and when staff simply ignore reports of faulty equipment, we are indeed getting what we paid for. Not much.

Planet fitness is a true example of poor customer service. I paid for a year's gym Membership and after that year, I thought my membership would automatically cancel. I was mistaken. I called the gym and they told me that they could not cancel my Membership over the phone. I had to either go back to the gym I opened my membership with to cancel in person, or send them a certified letter. Meanwhile, they have continued to keep taking out my membership money monthly.

Today, they assessed me a yearly fee of $40 in addition to the $20 a month. I called customer service and they said that, since the gym was privately owned, they couldn't cancel it either. I have contacted my bank and no more money will be coming out to them again, but PF did inform me that I would have my account sent to collections upon non payment after 3 months. It is maddening the lengths they are going just to keep my money. I asked the customer service representative how this policy benefits me as a member. She stated she didn't think it did. I would not recommend this gym to anyone, ever. They are classless, rude, and overall just out to take your money.

Finally went in and dissolved my membership and was told there would be no more charges to my card. This was a complete lie. They charged my card later a yearly membership fee, knowing that I was no longer a member. When asked for management, was told there was nothing they could do for me and I was given a bogus corporate number to contact. That bogus contact number or corporate number has you on hold for over an hour with the recording that continually tells you to press 0. I was going to return when I was medically able. Now with this treatment, I will never set foot in that place again. Reading other testimonies, they have done this to a number of people. Beware, beware! Do not give these people your checking account number.

The phone number listed online just rings and rings. Then there is a system generated prompt to leave a voice mail. Then after hearing this for two minutes one is told that there is not adequate space in mailbox. Really guys, this is how you do business??? Not only was I charged a $58 cancellation fee (and $3 tax..tax on a cancellation fee?) but was then told my annual billing of $41 was due 3 days earlier and I had to pay that as well (which I plan on fighting). What I find interesting is I found another complaint posted with the same exact complaint... cancellation and then informed annual billing was 3 days earlier... Coincidence? I doubt it. Think twice before signing up with this gym. Facility is nice.. their billing process borders on fraudulent and the teenagers they have behind the counter are clueless. Pay a few dollars more and sign up with a gym with integrity... which is not Planet Fitness.

The first time I went tanning here, when I was done tanning I went back up to the front desk and asked them if they go and clean them after and they said no. They said we (members ) have to clean them when we are done. Which means we have to clean them before and after use because who knows if it was cleaned before hand.. I'm not complaining that I have to clean it, I don't mind.. but what am I paying them for? Using there is 2 or 3 employees up front literally just standing there not doing much, why can't one go run and Clean them right after?

I used to go tanning at Tommy's tanning and they wouldn't allow you to go into the rooms unless they cleaned it first! I was also told the cleaning solution is just windex which it does smell like it. Also, there isn't a lot of cleaning solution around the gym. So once you are done using it, you have to walk across the building just to grab spray and paper towels. They need more cleaning stuff available. They also need to be more lenient about cleaning after you are done with machines. I've seen plenty of people use something and not clean it.. Am I there to clean or work out?

Planet Fitness Montgomeryville PA. My Guy canceled at one gym and came to my location due to continued stalking and threats from his ex-spouse. When he originally joined he spoke personally to the GM and I was present and unfortunately so was this trainer who kept putting her two cents in during the whole conversation. What I mean by that, is she was argumentative when he questioned the GM concerning some of the policies at this location which are not the same as other locations because they are a privately owned franchise. He also made it clear that absolutely under no circumstances should any of his information be released to anyone because of his ex-wife who has stalked him and continues to do so.. he is in fear for his life. Yes he is big but being hit by a car would still hospitalize him amongst other things she has done to him..and just for the reason I am about to speak on.

Well the GM and this so-called trainer must have thought this was a joke because his ex-wife called the other day asking for him by a completely different name and not only did they both volunteer information about him being a current member at this facility, they also told this unidentified caller that they knew who she was talking about and not just that but that he comes in all the time daily with me and stated my name as well. These two employees had a long drawn out conversation with this woman his ex-wife and shared things with her only this GM and trainer knew.

We had no idea any of this happened until his elderly mother called very upset and shaken and told us his ex-wife called her and was daunting her and saying things like "I know where he is. I found him. I told you I would he can't hide from me.. I spoke to a trainer and she called her by name.... I know where he goes to the gym. Him and his little ** girlfriend ** go there all the time". She told me he got in trouble for training there - his ex wife then told the trainer that she was his wife and the trainer said to her "Oh I thought they were married." This is when the phone conversation was handed over to the GM and she took it from there because she stated to us and another employee that the trainer put all of the stuff in her head and she continue this drawn out phone conversation with his wife.

I do believe this is when she remembered our conversation about how dangerous this woman was because during our sit down meeting with this GM the following week this young lady stated to us... Later She thought "Oh my Gosh maybe we shouldn't have shared all that information." And this is when she stated "Oh I don't know them and hung up. It was wrong. YES I DID IT. YES THE TRAINER DID IT. WE DID IT. WE ARE GUILTY. WE SHOULDN'T have done it. I am so sorry I apologize. What do you want me to do? I already told you we did it." After we spoke to the regional manager and she changed completely what she relayed to us our memberships were both canceled and we are no longer permitted to finish out our month out which was already taken out of my account nor will they give us a refund or reprimand these two employees.

This is so unfair and we don't understand how they are trying to sweep this under the rug. They said by us asking why they did this and our continuous phone calls to deal with and try to understand this matter that we now are harassing them. How did this get turned around on us when they gave up information about a client that we explicitly ask them not to share because of safety issues and concerns for our own well being .The last phone call I got from the regional manager was nasty. First he told My guy he didn't wish to lose us as customers and that they would pick up our memberships for the next year...and then when this girl totally changed her account of what she actually shared with this woman to him and his response was not nice. He threatened us with lawyers and repercussions because we demanded answers. Boy how he changed his tune.

I have never been treated so horrid in my whole entire life and now because of their maliciousness and negligence and discern for their loyal clients rather than reprimanding their employees I feel this is just wrong. A written apology and picking up our membership would have sufficed nicely. I loved this gym and not all of the employees were like this. I even loved the GM and fought with my guy arguing with him and told him there was no way it was her. I cried in front of her both times we spoke uncontrollably because I didn't understand. We both were obviously upset. I sobbed so hard almost to the point of vomiting yet this is when she now says "I harassed her." I was there on a daily basis and this is the repercussions. This is unjust and completely deplorable.

If I was able to do that then I would be there working out. Then the staff told me that my contract was over in April and if I didn't renew then I wouldn't be charged anymore. Then I find out I was charged again. I called yesterday, explained my situation and was told they still won't cancel my membership over the phone because some people lie and cancel other people's membership. I doubt that highly. It is a way to make it harder to quit.

Then I was told if I couldn't make it in person I could send someone else in to do it for me. Really? I can't cancel over the phone due to fraudulent cancellations but I can send a stranger in in person to cancel for me. Then I was told to just call and do a stop payment with my bank, my bank charges money to do this. I am being held hostage in a membership I haven't used in 10 months and getting there in person is not a possibility. The one time I actually show up to cancel it the person at the register couldn't perform the transaction and I was told the manager wasn't available. I have even sent doctor's notes to your facility. This is ridiculous because I didn't have to show up in person to sign up.

I want help with this please. It is not fair. They are taking money that you were informed you were no longer allowed to take or authorized to take. I am on a fixed budget and I am being punished for being ill and unable to get to the facility in person. I was told to mail a letter, so I did, and then I was told it wasn't sent certified, I can't get there in person but somehow I am going to get to a post office? We joined PF in November and while joining we told the sales guy and other person (branch manager as per the sales guy) that we are not permanently residents in Johannesburg and hence we don't have any bank account and we can pay only by cash. We registered for black tag where they asked for a lump sum amount of fee for the main member and R99 per month for the guest member. They took the lump sum amt in cash and did not force us to go by policy to have a bank account linked to our PF account. And even promised us that they will discuss with the admin and head office and will figure out some way to take the monthly fee. We told them clearly that if banking account is must for monthly pay then we would not like to join. But they convinced us that they will manage at their end and will let us know on when to pay monthly fee.

We waited for 4 months and even kept on asking them that how and when should we pay as we were going regularly to gym for those months and nobody never ever asked us to pay the monthly fee. They kept on replying "we are figuring it out, you guys enjoy your workout". Suddenly in March they denied our access to gym and said that we have to give some bank account number so that R99 can be deducted per month for the guest member. We had lot of discussions with them that what was promised to us and now the sales guy and that branch mgr are not there so this is all fraud. But somehow we only have to compromise and we arranged for banking details from one of our colleague. We handed him full amount on cash so that he faces no issues in getting the amount debited from his account on our behalf.

On giving the details to PF we thought things are now resolved but we were surprised to know from our colleague that till April no PF gym account got linked with his account. And also nobody from gym was denying our access so we assumed that it should be delay at their admins end they will link it whenever they want. To our surprise they again started denying our access in May and on asking the reason they said that we have not paid the amount for last two months. We told them that it's not yet been linked to our friends account and there is a problem at your system's end. And you should check for the issue. They then confirmed that in one day's time they will check at their end and will let us know on call. No one called. We went to gym after 2 days and asked "what happened and is everything sorted at your system?"

The receptionist called the sales person who told us the other day that he will check and will confirm in a day's time and also this is the guy who took the bank details from us in March. As he came he ignored first and then asked "how are you guys". To this my husband replied "we are not good man. Why aren't you checking at your end". Without granting us the access inside the gym (still standing at the reception), the sales guy replied "if you are not good, then I'm not gonna help you out".

What a rude behavior of a sales guy to a customer. We are so annoyed now and simply this kind of behavior and attitude and policy or whatever system issues are just not acceptable. Highly dissatisfied and still waiting for some response from the gym. They made a fool of us by taking lump sum amount for main member in cash and now creating fuss every other day. If anybody can help resolving this matter, please reply.

This employee took it upon herself to demand my husband to get up in such a offensive way right in front of me and another employee setting my husband off and making me annoyed because she was the only person to ever say anything about borrowing a stool. We have been going to that gym for almost 6 months borrowing the stool if me or my husband had to wait to change. There are no signs saying don't borrow the stool and no other employee ever said anything.

That also brings me to the first time I had a incident with this same employee. I'm a black card holder from New Rochelle. I had to check in with her at the front desk. In such a impolite manner she forced me to sign a book with no explanation and a nasty attitude. She was the only one that ever had me sign in every time I came to the gym. Before her and after her, all they ask me is where I'm from then I go change. She is obnoxious and annoying, the only problem with going to that gym and for that my husband and I are thru with that gym. We go to the gym to relieve stress not be pissed off because an employee is having a bad day. We don't feel comfortable going there thanks to ** from the planet fitness on ** location.

My husband and I only joined this gym because of the no judgment rule but going to this gym and being harassed by ** on many different occasions was not part of our membership. I thought the gym was a Judgment free zone. I have made a complaint before about the same employee however nothing was done. There are a lot of people that complain about ** and no one seems to do anything about her. She is going to kill business for you and your company. My husband and I got along with the whole staff there except for her. We are quiet people, we just like to work out quietly. She would harass about what we would drink from, where we would sit, where we would stand, every time we saw her it was something else. It came to the point that the only thing to do is ask management to ask ** to not say anything to us.

On April 14 2015 approximately 5:00pm my husband was sitting right in front of the men’s locker room, a place we sit every day we work out. ** walked by my husband with a nasty attitude telling him to get up he can't sit there. A lot of people sit there every time we go to that gym and wait for each other to change. She had no business talking to my husband. There are no signs saying don't sit there and no one else ever had a problem with sitting there but her. When I had brought the situation to the manager on duty just asking him to tell this woman to not say anything to us, it resulted in me receiving a phone call stating my husband’s membership has been canceled.

That gym is dirty, the staff is ghetto, late nights when I like to work out I have to worry about male staff workers cleaning the woman locker room without asking if anyone is in there. People like to work out to clear their minds, relieve stress not to get upset. We feel if you complain about any worker or complain in general they cancel your membership fast. At this point my husband and I are fed up with that gym.

Despite being irritated that the fee was higher than the ads said, I decided I would come back the next day with my information and sign up. The next day I went to sign up and they showed me a printed and laminate agreement that had a space for them to write in with erasable marker any amount they wanted for an 'Sign up fee' in addition to the 'Maintenance fee' that they said would be due in 4 weeks.

This second fee was nowhere in the paperwork they gave me the day before, nor was it mentioned (and when it comes to signing up for any type of membership, I am the type to read EVERY SINGLE WORK. So I did not overlook it. They simply hid it until the last minute when you have your checkbook out. So this $10 month membership they advertise would actually cost me $70.00 to sign up in the first month (Maintenance fee, Sign up fee, and first month fee). That's ridiculous and deceptive. Needless to say, I walked out and will not be back.

Also, I found out that they allow men in the women's locker room as long as the man says he 'identifies' as a woman. Folks, don't fall for the hype. Sure you can join for 10 a month. Easy, the fun starts when you try and leave. Back in 2012 Planet Fitness decided to no longer honor credit cards, but requested a bank account. I immediately went to the Melville location, spoke to the clerk on duty, and asked that they cancel my membership, and I made the payments till the end of the year. Come the next year, Planet Fitness (slick) tried to start up the billings again with an expired credit card. Not taking credit cards no more, but still willing to try and bill mine. I had to go to the credit card folks to stop payment. I threatened Citibank to leave their banking and credit card if they didn't stop paying. They did. Yet still Planet Fitness was trying to find ways to bill me.

Here it is, two years later, two stop ins to cancel, one to a supervisor and clerk. No results. Call and you can't cancel. Expired credit card, no problem. I have never seen such a shady operation as this Planet Fitness in Melville. If someone has any success in taking them to court, please let me know. No one is helping and it's a scheme. My suggestion is to never get involved with this underhanded outfit Planet Fitness, Melville, NY!! It's a consumer ripoff, and from the blogs, I see this is a normal practice for these low lives. My daughter ** started a membership with this gym around two years ago. She used her Citizens bank account to pay her dues. A few months later they charged a fee to her account that she was unaware of, causing her bank account to overdraw. I paid planet fitness the money owed, I am not sure if it was check or card because it was so long ago. She informed them at the time that she needed to cancel her membership because she was moving 2 1/2 hours away, and was told to send them a letter stating this, which she did.

They have been charging my bank for membership fees ever since. I was unaware of it until a few months ago, and tried very unsuccessfully to clear this up. I have called the office and am always told to wait for the general manager who is never available, or are told that they will look into it. My daughter stated that she has also tried to clear this up with them, getting nowhere with them. I do not have a contract with them, and I never gave them permission to take money out of my account on a revolving basis. I thought I would pay the fee for her and that is as far as it goes.

I then put her under my account till we heard back from administration. These 2 individuals came up to my mother as she was working out, they took her to the front desk and told her she couldn't work out. At no point did they try to work with her.

I tried to video the incident and was told I couldn't. I have never seen such disrespect to and elderly women. I came home, she was so upset - I had her lay down to calm her down. I did call billing and they were very nice and refunded my money as well as contacted administration again and am awaiting a phone call back… I have faith this will get resolved as well as the 2 men are dealt with accordingly.

Not the dumbbell, it's a self control and steady machine. All I have to do is to unlock the bar, do my set, then lock it back down. The buzzer didn't go off, nobody complaint about me making noise or anything. I'm only pushing 230 to 240 pound. I weight about 240 pound so when I heard other people binging their weight, I went to her and asked her why is she not going to those other people? Tell them they're making too much noise to take easy.

Why was I single out? She said she was doing her job. Really! Wow, doing her job by singling me out when I'm being disturb by a bunch of binging, slamming weight. She don't tell them anything. What I ran into was, they have "pizza nights" they have tootsie rolls and grape candy at the counter on some nights and when asked about a scale... "We Don't believe in scales here." Ok. Whatever. I can move past that. What I'm very upset about is we had this different checking account and we're happy so we canceled that auto payment at the store! Gave them a different checking debit and after all that was said and done. EVEN AFTER WE WENT IN AND TOLD THEM WE HAD CHANGED BANKS, they kept trying to charge the old account numbers times almost $150.00! Then we went back in, they said "oh you'll not be charged again!" I'm up to $349 in overdraft fees no thanks to Planet Fitness. UGH.

I have called, sent letters and sent certified mail. I was sent an email stating that my account was changed and I assumed they had followed my instructions and canceled my account. I discovered I was mistaken when my friend called me to inform me that her account was once again charged and it once again bounced her account. This has happened for the past six months. My friend even put a stop payment on this charge and to get around this planet fitness started charging the card more. My advice for anyone considering a gym membership is to go elsewhere. North Charleston Sc. When I considered planet fitness as my gym to workout, it was the convenience to my work, and commuting back home from work, which got my attention. Planet Fitness was right in the middle of my commute. While receive my sign up tour, the staff member kept saying, "we don't cater to the bodybuilding atmosphere, and that we are are a non judgemental zone." Which I find to be grossly incorrect. So, I ask the staff member, "if you don't cater to bodybuilders, then who do you cater to." She replied, "well nobody".

I personally understand the perception of bodybuilders, being that I'm 48 years old, and have been very active in the gym since 26 years old, and have competed in power lifting, and bodybuilding for many years. But, getting back to the signup tour. During the tour I notice that there was not any flat benches, or free weight squad racks. In which I was told this was due the non-intimidation atmosphere that planet fitness supports. The heaviest dumbbell is only 75lbs, which is very light for inclined bench presses.

Here's my problem, when you take away certain equipment from one group, to "cater to" another group, that is being judgemental-- live, and well. I don't slam weights, yell in the gym, or intimidate people, nor do I agree with it. However if a person of lesser fitness/obese/not very strong, or whatever you chose to call it, has an issue with someone else's fitness, or strength level, that's their issue. For planet fitness management standpoint: enforce the no yelling, and no slamming the weights, but please don't take away equipment, or shun out certain people to support an incorrect perception. I believe in gym respect, and being professional at all times. But a fitness model can be as intimidating to an obese person, as a bodybuilder can be to an underweight person. As I stated earlier, I signed up merely for the convenience, but I will most likely not renew my membership. Free weight squats, and the flat bench is a very important part of my weekly workout.

This particular day was a chest day, and for some reason my buddy chose to utilize an open handed grip on the flat bench. He had 275 lbs in it, not a terrible amount of weight, but enough to cause injury if dropped. Unfortunately, the bar slipped out of his hand and landed on his chest. I accept blame as his spotter, but this happened so fast. This has never happened before or since. I'm a big advocate for proper form. So, what did the employees of PF do? Run over to make sure he was okay? Call an ambulance to ensure there were no injuries? Nope. They sounded the "lunk alarm." This effectively humiliated my friend who was already on the ground in pain. No one ever asked if he was okay. We never went back. This is a true story.

I joined Planet Fitness based upon what my needs are when it comes to staying in shape. For the most part I use the treadmill for warm up, and then I hit the free weights. Other days I use the treadmill for cardio only. I discovered the yoga and bosu balls when I worked with my personal trainer from a previous gym I used to belong to. I found these tools to be great for working on core strength when I used the free-weights. I trusted that Planet Fitness just like the other gyms I have belonged to, that they have all their equipments in order, but unfortunately that was not so.

Perhaps I was spoiled from the previous gym with expecting a great workout with well-kept up equipment. Everything went fine until I was going to use my favorite tools, the yoga balls. They were all uninflated. I thought, oh well I can mention it to the front desk, and perhaps they’ll take care of it. I showed up for my workout several times, and each time I asked if they would be so kind to fill air in the yoga balls so I can use them. I finally got so frustrated that I asked if they had an air pump in order to fill air in the yoga and bosu balls myself. I was frustrated and I was thinking that I missed my other gym. After that day I got so discouraged about my work out that I didn't go back in a while.

When I saw that I was charged a 45 dollars yearly fee, I got angry. I thought I was paying for a badly kept-up gym. I called the corporate office and told them how I felt and asked if I could be refunded since I have barely showed up at the gym. They said “no way”, but that they would look into the situation with the bosu and yoga balls. To cancel my membership I had to go back to the gym in person where I was charged an additional 59 dollars canceling fee. They asked me why I wanted to cancel and when I told them why, they used their ridiculous motto The judgment free zone as an excuse for not keeping their yoga and bosu ball inflated.

I know that uninflated bosu and yoga balls aren't the worst that can happen, but I did join the gym based upon what I saw the day I checked Planet Fitness out, and on my previous experience of how great these tools are for a great workout. Moneywise it wasn’t a great loss, but this isn’t about money. My complaint is about not keeping up on their part when it comes to keeping their fitness equipments in shape, since I made a business decision based upon what I saw when I joined. My complaint is also about how rude and unprofessional the management was when I stated my complaints.

What I got out of this is that you get what you pay for. I was paying a lot of money at a previous gym I used to belong to, at Sports and Wellness, but then again, they were great. I know that no place is perfect, but nobody likes badly kept-up fitness equipment at a gym. My advice to people are, stay far away from Planet Fitness, and pay the extra money for better quality in both, management and, safely kept-up fitness equipment and gear, at a better quality gym.

I was surprised by this, but I obliged and placed my bag inside my car.

When I returned I noticed that other gym patrons had the SAME EXACT bag, next to them, and on the floor. When I asked ** why those members weren't having the same "rules" enforced, ** the "General Manager" stepped in. He told me that recent events of MEMBERS ITEMS being STOLEN has led them to enforce the rules more strictly. Rules that are not included in their Membership Agreement or at sign up.

** then asked me to point out members who also had a bag. I was able to point out several and he approached 1. Why is he even asking me about other members? Shouldn't his job as General Manager be to do rounds and enforce these so called "rules" that are applied selectively. He tells me another member was allowed to have his bag on the floor since he was leaving anyway, even though it proposes the same exact "danger" of someone falling over it as someone who has their bag right next to them as they work out - as I always did.

At the end of the day, I moved from Hollywood about 6 months ago where I lost my first 100lbs at 24hr Fitness Super Sport on Sunset Blvd. When I was forced to move back due to a family emergency, I thought it was great that a gym was so affordable and local to my new location. For the past several weeks I have been going into your gym and trying to lose my 2nd 100lbs. I do not need these types of distractions; I simply come into your gym to work out. You guys advertise "No Gymtimidation" but as soon as I had the incident with **, he immediately went back behind the check-in counter and I could see from the lifting mirrors that he was laughing with his employees. Professional, real professional.

This is a true testament to the culture happening at Planet Fitness, not what you guys advertise. On 3/23 ** the regional manager called me. Pretty much to waste my time. He called and didn't even have anything to say except that he was calling as a "courtesy" to "back up his manager". Seriously? Don't waste my time. This update is a "courtesy". On 3/27 they cancelled my membership. I walked into the gym like I had done every day this week, scanned my membership, then the girl looks at me and says my membership has been cancelled and grabs this yellow notice off the wall.

I am outraged of the amount of theft in this location and yet nothing is being done to take care of it. I am aware there was an employee who no longer works there that was stealing, and I am aware that there are members that are stealing. In November my keys were taken to get into my car and steal my Michael Kors pocketbook (which was locked in the trunk), all its contents, and thousands in fraudulent charges on my credit cards. Luckily the two responsible were caught and arrested, as this happened to me and about 4/5 other women.

Now, last night (March 12) between 5 and 7pm while I was working out, my North Face jacket worth approximately $200-$250 was stolen from a locker. When I notified the front desk, their response to me was "oh I'm sorry, that's been happening a lot lately." That is unacceptable! Why not have better security?! I know cameras cannot be IN the locker room, but there should be ones outside and by the front door. Not just for theft but for the safety of your guests, and your employees too! Maybe you need staff to check them more frequently or have a locker room attendant who just stays in there during the busier times. I know I am not the only victim and I think the way this issue is being handled is ridiculous. Something more needs to be done about it, especially when it is a known problem.

I filed a police report and when I attempted multiple times to call your customer service number and I could not get through to someone. I wish to be contacted regarding this matter. I am livid. I'm not from the area, but went to this location to take advantage of the $0.00 and no commitment with the black card. But after the experience I had, I will gladly pay my fee and be committed for a year than to have to deal with a person like the following! I had the worst "customer service" experience in my life 2 days in a row while attempting to start a new membership by a person that identified himself as a "general manager", "a red hair tall man" for the Paterson NJ Planet Fitness location.

Day 1: He wasn't friendly. Was rude. Screaming at me for reading a sign posted about the hours of classes. All because my son was with me, we were no where near any equipment and a few inches away from the front desk. Instead of him advising me that non-members or children weren't allowed beyond a certain point, he screamed it across the club and continued to speak over me advising me that it was a "liability" for my son to be by my son reading a sign (my son is 13 btw) which I know is the required age for a child to join. Didn't show me what my options were but instead asked "what I wanted". Had to explain that I wasn't familiar with the plans and didn't know what to choose from. When handing a check he forces it back at me telling me "we don't accept credit unions".

Day 2: I couldn't pass up the promotion so I attempted again, hoping someone different would be at the front desk and thankfully there was, or so I thought.... Not even 60 seconds after speaking with a representative did the red head man come over and whisper in the young lady's ear to be sure to verify my son's age.... I kindly advised him that I had enough of him yesterday and wasn't here to deal with him today and how I would like to deal with the young lady. He became very irate again advising how "he is the general manager", how he could kick me out and on & on. He went until someone else came and escorted him off the floor until I exited the building.

If this man is a general manager, I feel sorry for the people that have to work for him and I feel sorry for the experiences other patrons may experience at this location because of him and his ways. This type of treatment is not necessary and is in no way, shape or form the way that customer service should be conducted!

Planet Fitness may want to think about requiring some type of customer service courses for its employees. This man made an entire scene 2 days in a row at this establishment. This man was very rude and his behavior was uncalled for. At this point i'd rather go else where and pay the fess or may consider not joining planet Fitness at all. I don't know if this review will be seen by anyone in the corporate office but I hope it does.

I actually called the gym directly and inquired as to their services. It was recommended that I purchase the "Black Membership" as tanning, massage and a personal trainer was included. (I had not been in the gym for a few years due to health issues). So, I signed up with a year contract. (payments taken out of my checking account).

The first day I went to the gym, the staff was rude. Acted as though they were "put out" to my questions as to the machines. Further, I signed up for the "included" personal trainer, as again I hadn't been in the gym for years and wanted to get some training. (Remember, a trainer was included in my membership). At the time I was to meet with the trainer, he was a no show and out of town, but the gym didn't have the courtesy to even call and tell me. I rescheduled, which again, showed up and the trainer was again not there and yet again, no courtesy call from the gym.

The third time I signed up for the trainer, I was sent to a table downstairs. Only to then learn that there were 3 others who signed up at the same time and it was a "first to sit down" type service. I sat for an hour, waiting for my turn, only to be informed that the hour was up and the trainer couldn't help me. I went to the front desk and asked for a manager, who was never available and never got a phone call. I never returned to the gym.

Secondly, the tanning beds are a joke! The "massage" that is included in my membership turned out to be a aqua massage table. (I guess technically, that's considered a "Massage".) Needless to say, I contacted Corporate inquiring as to my canceling my membership. Of course, got the "there will be a penalty". And, although I attempted to cancel online, the same manner I signed up... that was not possible. I was directed back to the same gym who treated me so badly.

Long story short, Planet Fitness got paid for 11 plus months on an account that wasn't used more than three times. They ignored complaints and didn't have the courtesy to even call a member with concerns/complaint. As far as I'm concerned, they breached the contract with me the first week yet refused to make it right.

3/9/15 I came into Planet Fitness and there were 2 employees at the desk, one was on the phone and stayed on the phone for the whole 45 minutes I was at the facility - I requested a massage bed, 1 was broken the other two were overheating. The one I was in overheated so much that my body ached more than soothing. I had signed in for a 9:00pm tanning session, they are 20 minute time differences so I sign in at 9:00pm, another patron signs in at 9:20, 9:40 and so on. I was at the desk requesting my time slotted tanning bed, the one employee was still on the cell phone the other employee had 8 beds that she had not cleaned, by the time she returned it was 9:30. She asked what bed and I wanted and I said “none”, the line was backed up for the tanning beds and no one was getting their beds in the time slot they requested.

And the last thing, and this is making me also go to the bbb and file a complaint, there were minor children (under the age of 10) running around the facility, unsupervised and playing on the dangerous machine. I can tell you I am more than angry not only to see the perks of being a black card member being able to use a massage bed and they are overheating but the wait time on the tanning beds and children running around unsupervised. I am not sure if they have changed management but I will not be returning to this facility ever. They also say that certain apparel is not allowed but there were booty shorts and spaghetti strap shirts being worn, people on cell phones sitting on machines and not working out but tying it up for everyone else’s and the employees just walking by doing nothing.

The clientele also has changed and the facility is no longer kept clean and organized. I think someone needs to come in and clean up this facility. I also heard other people saying they were cancelling their membership or either locating another facility. Broken beds, lazy employees I can deal with but children under the age of 10 running around playing in dangerous equipment I refuse to deal with.

But a club is a club is a club. What is the difference? There is none. They are all the same gym in a different location. Simply put, they already HAVE your money, so why allow you to transfer it? The monthly memberships can just be canceled if they didn't allow them to transfer.

Some of the lockers in the woman's locker room are cut and have been for months (still not fixed). The tanning beds almost never work properly, if at all, and prior to tanning they want you to sign-in and give the current time but the only clock on the wall is not near the sign-in counter and doesn't keep the proper time.

No person(s) who knows anything about strength training or how the equipment works is there at night when there is the most amount of people working out. Never see any adult type figures or anyone "acting" as a manager. No one walks around to make sure that teenage members are not just sitting on equipment and playing on their phones (which they do) and no one makes sure that the "circuit" training area is being used for "circuit" training according to the signs posted on the walls!

What a joke, this owner makes the corporation "Planet Fitness" look bad. Someone from Corporate should make surprise visits to their locations to be sure these owners are putting their best foot forward... I loved the Planet Fitness Membership while I was able to use it. Then my car broke down & I wasn't able to go to the gym anymore. There wasn't any locations that are nearby where I live were I wouldn't have to travel more than 30 miles. Anyway, I immediately called to cancel my membership. I was told that the only way you could cancel the membership is to travel to the location where you initially signed up, or write them some type of letter.

Meanwhile, they continue to charge your debit/credit card even though you are not using the membership. I recently attempted to cancel the membership again & was not only told the same exact thing, but also I have a balance & I could not cancel the membership until I pay that balance. I checked my bank statements & each time my check deposited, member dues were taken out. I think it's ridiculous that you can pay member fees online, you can start the membership online, but you can't cancel the membership online or call over the phone.

Four months later I realized they never closed the accounts. I went back, and they closed the accounts, but refused to refund the $140 they had taken (4 $10 monthly fees and a $30 annual fee from each of us). At one point, they tried to say that my daughter continued to use her membership, which was ridiculous, as she was out of the country. They made no effort to rectify the situation. I joined Planet Fitness in 2013. Just recently I observed that the $10 monthly fee did not come out of my bank account. I recently had a bank card compromised so Planet Fitness did not receive my $10. I went to Planet Fitness to resolve the issue only to find out that I owed $80. Planet Fitness had not taken a payment since October. Then they told me I could not cancel my membership unless I paid $80.00. I asked them why didn't they send me a letter stating that they could not get my payment due to not being able to get it from my card. I would have been more than happy to update the information. With just $10 a month we sometimes overlook funds like that coming out.

Regardless the representative told me that I didn't write a number for them to call me. I became angrier because I thought, there was a representative there when I first opened the account. Certainly they would have told me to add my phone number. Regardless, how can a company not inform you that they are not getting your money and yet let it add up for 5 months, and just continue to charge you double. Then, tell you they can't cancel your account until you pay. So If I would have never gone to Planet Fitness today to resolve my issue, it would just keep adding up?

I called my local Planet Fitness here in Fairbanks, Alaska located on 1255 Airport Way, zip 99701. I spoke to one of their very sweet young sales ladies, polite, who answered my questions about their gym facilities. Then I asked prices and explained my age, I was disabled, fixed income on disability so was looking for the rate I had heard about of $10 per month. She said, "Yes, that is our first level of membership." "Great," I told her. I asked her about the membership cost. She stated, "A one time only $59." Again, fine. We talked a bit more and I told her that this was awesome. I could pay her over the phone right now and would pay with my MasterCard for the full 12 month membership.

"Oh," she says, "Sorry." I could hear a smile in her voice. I said, "Excuse me, I am confused here. Please explain...Sorry?" "Yes," and clearing her throat, she continues on, "Well, you can only join us by coming in person to the gym, filling out the application/form/contract and using your Checking acct and deposit slip to set up an account with Planet Fitness...It is stated in the contract. And yes, with a Checking Account, you most certainly Can pay for a full year upfront for a Special Flat rate of $199."

I explained to her again that I Do Not have a checking account, I am on disability, receive all of my funds into my special MasterCard account and there is no Checking Account attached to it. Checking Accounts charge all sorts of fees and extra charges and require people to keep minimum balances in them generally and the Government does not do that for those in its deposit program. My MasterCard works exactly like a checking and savings program for me so that I can go to any ATM to withdraw monies up to the amount I have in it, make purchase the same, again online, and even gym memberships.

Planet Membership fails to mention on its website or in its TV advertisements that a Checking acct is required for the membership...and in fact here in Fairbanks makes it sound as if we can come in and pay you a $10 bill each month for the use of the gym. To that she replied that "We very clearly state in all of our ads for more information to call our Gym at the phone number shown at which time we fully disclose to the membership fee of $59, annual fee of $29 and whatever monthly rate they choose." I really jumped on her about that, pointing out to her that she hadn't even bothered mentioning to me the $29 annual fee in the costs to begin with...how outrageous and misleading...what a scam they have going.

I also pointed out to her that by requiring a Checking account they are illegally, possibly in a certain manner, using this to sort out those with less than the best credit...something the courts would take a very dim view upon in the least! I told her I wished to contact the corporate office and to please give me their toll free number...so she gives me their 603-705-0001. I smile and tell her, "Do you not recognize that is Not a toll free number...toll free numbers begin with 800, 888 or some such similar numbers." She replied back, "That is the Only number I have for them." I am adamant, "It can't be." "Okay," she says, "I have this other one...it is 415..." and I cut her off (yes, that was rude of me, or at least impatient of me). I tell her that after what I just explained to her, did that appear to look like a toll-free number? Her response to me was, it didn't matter, she found me a second phone number...and I told her it certainly DID matter.

What mattered is this, and she should understand this -- When customers have issues, they should Not have to spend their own money to contact Corporate to make their very serious issues known to corporate. I told her I understood that the "Checking Acct requirement" was Not her fault, but failure to give me the full, correct pricing, upfront in the first place had been...and failure to tell me upfront...failure to disclose to every single customer who states that they want to join..."The very first thing out of your mouth should be the Qualifying Question: Do you have an Active Checking Account you are willing to attach to the membership? Because if the answer is no, there is no point in wasting either the customer's time or yours." I told her at that point I was disappointed in this entire customer service experience with her and would be contacting Corporate to make my complaints known.

When I did call Corp number given to me, since I was not a PF member and did not have the Ext of some agent there that I knew...it just put me into some blank, no introduced message box with a "beep" where I had to leave a message for them to call me back...I explained to them I had a very serious issue to discuss with them...also how disappointing it was that they could not take the time to answer the calls of non-members but only accepted VM...very unprofessional for such a great International Corporation. NEVER received a call back or response back from them. How sad...I have read other peoples issues/complaints about Planet Fitness since that time and realized that I have not been the only victim of their unprofessional tactics and practices and how Corporate consistently refuses to address them. How very sad.

Only then did I decide that I had a responsibility to let others know about my personal experience with Planet Fitness to give Fair Warning...Just Pass Them Up...Ignore their false ads. Just as many of their gym members seem to have experienced similar outrageous dealings with Corporate and the Local PF Gyms and Staff. When considering joining a gym, check all of the others out and I assure you (and first, before joining any of those, first call their Corp Offices as a non-member to see if they will even speak with the non-members... :-) for a truth test) then finally join after you have a legally trained pro with you to thoroughly read that contract for any hidden lines or uh-ohs...then, if cool, Go for it! Contracts cannot be broken...and a great gym with a great Corp Office who will support its members is invaluable. Thank you, All.

If you'd just take a minute to read the fine print before signing contracts, a good half of these bad reviews would be defunct. I'd advise that before joining, read everything. As for the clubs, they JUST opened a new one a few days ago, and even despite having people crammed around the service desk getting information, they've been really nice and as timely as possible. It's definitely not a gym for people who are at a great fitness level, but it's an incredible way to get there.

As we were working out, one of the trainers came and told us that we can't use gloves, then proceeded to have us thrown off the premises cause they thought I, a man 70lbs overweight, was a trainer, and said no trainer is here but the ones established to be trainers. This Is a poor excuse of what a gym is supposed to be. False advertisement is what happened here. The commercial says "no rules, just right," it seems to me that these rules were made up as the staff went along. When I asked for the headquarters number, before going to the better business bureau, the staff lied and said they didn't have one.

We contacted everyone that we are utilizing Planet fitness with and let them know we won't be returning to this gym/place of work out anymore, that does not honor their own contract. This was yesterday and already we are looking at another gym to concentrate on becoming better at heath by way of working out. The problem was that they assumed I was a personal trainer. Since when is working out with someone, my friend, make me a Personal trainer? It doesn't, I felt as if I was being Micro manage. The staff was very ignorant and hostile towards us for no reason. We didn't deserve what we were put through last night just cause we wanted to work out. I'd like a refund for this poor excuse of service... well at least the bathroom was clean. The consequences, they asked us to leave and gym that we pay by month to workout because of a mistake they made. Can I have my money back?

She then gave me the rules, waivers etc. which I signed. When I returned to the desk she was gone and nowhere to be found. All kinds of people working the desk, not busy, no one helped me until I had to raise my voice over the din of course, I raise my voice. I'm old, half-deaf and disabled, and no one came to help.

Then one man got another woman for me who wanted my bank slip. I told her I had already given it to the woman, signed the thing, and was ready to go, just needed my membership card and pay the joining fee. She told me that was insufficient, despite the fact that the other woman told me it was all finished and just needed to be signed the upshot was. I did start to raise my voice after spending nearly an hour in there. I came back to find out if they had already taken the 10 dollars out and they told me if I didn't leave they would call the police.

So my conclusion is that Planet Fitness wants no one there who's old or disabled, so much for the "judgment-free zone". I intend to have my partner who recommended me to Planet Fitness and my pastor who is also a member as well as other church members. I intend to tell them my story and encourage them NOT to JOIN PLANET FITNESS. Of course, what a stroke of luck I found, an equivalent independent fitness place just down the road, who is the same price without the attitude or the rudeness. And in only 5 minutes I can only conclude from my experience there that if I had been young and in vibrant health I would have been treated royalty. How rude, how sad! What a bunch of liars!

The upshot as I said was finding a better place right down the street for cheaper, better service, and NO JUDGMENT! Planet Fitness needs to change their slogan, as well my partner and my pastor are on the way down to cancel their memberships.

Moreno Valley CA Planet But No Fitness. The staff Oh I forgot there is no staff. When one needs assistance guess what, you're on your own. Either they're in hiding, or on the phone. Greetings what's that? Simple things like pushing a button on the hydro bed or coins for the chair seems to be a task. Good morning, afternoon, nor evening is not in their vocabulary. Poor hygiene, and where is the personal trainer? He or She is non existent. The morning staff is so stupid, when asked a question they know nothing. I feel like getting a group together and marching until this sorry place they call a fitness center is closed down.. LA Fitness here I come.

Planet Fitness Raytown, MO - My daughter signed up for a membership. She was required to give a debit card number. BIG MISTAKE. We moved away from there and when the year was up, we called to cancel the membership. They would not cancel it. She went to the Springfield, MO PF, they would not help either. We called over and over and kept getting crackpot stories on how to cancel and then they told us she would have to pay 60 dollars to cancel.

A BUNCH OF CRAP. The year obligation was fulfilled. So what did they do?? They automatically renewed the membership for another year. Well, now we're on year 2 and they are now saying that she has to write a certified letter to cancel. I emailed the corporate office. No results yet, i'm assuming there won't be any help from there either. This place is SHADY and I would not recommend anyone joining. We have to now take steps at the bank to block this from coming out of her account. I'm not playing with these fools anymore.

On Sunday morning 1/25/15. I went to Planet fitness in Fleming Island Thinking man this going to be a great workout day. I checked in as usual at the front desk, went to the back did my stretching and started what I having being doing ever since this place opened up. I started JUMP ROPING. I have been doing the same regiment since the they first opened up in November. Over 2 months I have been jump roping and all of a sudden I wasn't allowed. So Brandon (shift leader) says that I will have to stop jump roping. He said that I can jump rump outside. I asked where. In the parking lot? I asked Brandon to show me in the member handbook that says that there's no jump roping. He said it's in there but he COULDN'T FIND IT. What do you mean you can't find it? I asked "Was there a member that was complaining about me jump roping?" He said "Yes". I asked "Who? Why of all of sudden in over 2 months of being a member I all of a sudden not allowed." He said he has to enforce the "rules".

So by the front desk there's this other member that has a cut off tee and he was in the free weight area and he is clunking and grunting while he lift weights. So I said to Brandon if you are going to critique my workout regiment what about that guy over there? He said "He's not your concern. Were discussing about you." They have a sign that says NO CRITIC. Well I says "THAT'S **". Because what Brandon just do is discriminate me from the other guy making clunking and dropping his weights on the ground. All I was doing is jump roping. OOH very intimidating. I don't even wear a cut off tee either. Of course the owner or the manager wasn't there which her name was Paige. He said that he will cancel my membership and that I can call Paige tomorrow even though he was on the phone with her. So he said that he has to cancel my membership per his manager.

I will NEVER RECOMMEND OR GO BACK TO Planet fitness. The staff couldn't provide me documentation that I wasn't allowed to jump rope. If so they need to put a sign that says no jump roping as well...

I sponsor my daughter Susan by paying for her membership at the Planet Fitness, West Bridgewater, MA location. I pay $21.24 every month for her to use the gym. I live in Newport News, VA. She has not used her membership since May 2014. I asked her to cancel the membership by going to the location and telling them that she wanted her membership canceled. It wasn't. I called her and she said that she was asked to provide a letter requesting cancellation. She did provide that in October 2014. I continue to be billed $21.24 per month even though she is not using their services.

One problem is they require you to create an account on line, but once you are a member you cannot opt out or cancel your account online. You have to do that in person by providing a letter requesting cancellation. The Planet Fitness website says that it will take 7 days after your request for cancellation before the account is cancelled. There is no way to contact the Franchise owner as the contact information is not provided to you. You deal with not very knowledgeable employees who only seem to know how to sign you up and not how to cancel your membership. You cannot cancel on the phone, but an employee will tell you that they can do it while you are standing in front of them, another employee will tell you to submit a letter requesting cancellation of membership.

Their cancellation policy is unfair and should be changed in favor of the member.
