    I joined Planet Fitness in 2015. I cancelled in 2015 and due to incompetent staff- the cancellation was not complete- though I left the parking lot thinking it was: here I am 9 years later and they charged my account monthly for $21.70 but they are unable to refund my money extracted from my account (remember no services) then on today I was told the money was in process of being deducted from account as we were speaking.. I left 9 years ago because staff were not helpful and today they were just as unhelpful

    I heard good and bad about Planet Fitness and I thought I would give them a chance and give them a year to formulate my own opinion. I would have become a member as a black card member but they want my checking information. I pay for EVERYTHING with a particular credit card and nothing else. I only give that to my mortgage company and my employer. I offered to pay for a whole year of the black card membership but they said no. I WILL NOT GIVE YOU MY CHECKING ACCOUNT INFORMATION FOR ANYTHING! Total ** to require that. I guess the stories I have heard and read will remain bad stories for me and I will take my business elsewhere.

    I had the worst experience with Planet Fitness in LINDEN, NJ. I am being forcefully charged a cancellation fees to cancel my membership that I was never made aware of. I switched to black card while I was at the gym and their rep never told me details regarding cancellation charges. Not that I have not been going for months. Decided to cancel but they are charging me almost $60 to cancel. Each time I went to cancel for the month, I was told a different story. They are misguiding people to sign up and then they give you a very very hard time. DO NOT BECOME A MEMBER.

    The staff on the Aurora Ave location in Seattle don't know how to cancel a membership. I've been there three times to cancel it, the first time, I was told she can not do it, the second time, I waited about 30 minutes till the girl finally said it was cancelled; I asked her why I didn't receive anything confirming that on my email, and she said it takes some time, but I never received the email. The third time the guy started to argue with me and didn't want to cancel my membership; he said is my fault I didn't make sure the membership was cancelled

    As sophisticated as Planet Fitness app is, canceling a membership requires physically going to the "home" facility or to mail a letter to request cancelation!! Which is ridiculous!!! My home facility is in Florida & I recently relocated to PA so I am left with only the option to mail & letter "certified" so they can't claim they did not receive it. I DO NOT RECOMMEND JOINING THIS GYM!!

    I was bullied at their gym, reported the incident, asked them to look at video and take action. Nothing was done... All memberships were cancelled. Staff made no attempts to offer help or address this issue with the perpetrator. Very poorly handled!

    The service is awful, they all seem like they dread being there, not real friendly. It has gone downhill, lack of help and employees, they use to have a employee that kept the locker rooms/restrooms so clean and smell so good her name was Amanda and she was the friendliest one there always smiling. And she kept the lady's locker area clean, and smell so good.

    Now she's left there, the bathrooms are very dirty and don't smell fresh or look fresh. I do not even use the showers no more. And the new management has made changes and took the paper towels down in the restrooms and they are just very short staff, they need help. And they need that lady back that clean the locker area, she did a great job and so friendly and outgoing always smiling. And hire more employees for help up front with great personality, they are under new management, lost supervisors and other team members, and someone like Amanda to clean the restrooms.

    My husband and I had been training at Planet Fitness located in the Dr Phillips neighborhood for two and a half years, usually three times a week. This week we had an extremely unpleasant experience that led us to cancel our subscription to this gym. When we arrived to train, I passed the app on the scanner, then the employee asked to confirm my guest (my husband), while the app opened my husband said that we were always training there. The employee, in a very rude way started to say that my husband was a liar, as he worked there every day and had never seen my husband. He repeated several times that my husband was a liar, always in a very rude manner. We were pretty shaken by the way we were treated at a gym we had been going to for so long. It was impossible for us to attend a place where we were treated with such disrespect.

    Working out hard. Earbuds in jamming to my workout collection. BIG FAT GUY comes walking over from behind the front desk and says, "You are banging the weights and you have to stop", I was doing standing military press using the Smith Machine/Power Rack for safety and it almost allowed my arms to fully extend upward yet I topped out before my arms could extend fully so I was hitting the top of the rack. Very little noise. Truth was I had transferred my membership and I believe that they were upset about that so they were just looking for a reason. I told fatty maybe he needed to workout. Price is the draw. All this stereotyping that PF does is Hypocritical... I don't bother nobody and metal hitting metal happens when you use STEEL to exercise with! Just Ridiculous. No excessive banging happening. Just NITPICKING by SIMPLETONS. Leave me be and stop judging PF.

    We used to be members until my 55 year old wife was informed that she was not allowed to work out in sweatpants, only shorts were acceptable. She was so upset she didnt return for a month. When she went back she was told that her membership dues had not been paid and she was not allowed to use the equipment. I printed out the auto debit charges from 2 weeks prior, and took them to the gym to speak with the manager. He called my wife a liar, and said that she was not prevented from working out because of non payment, or that she had been told she couldn't wear sweatpants.

    As I spoke to him another member walked past with her breast exposed so far you could see her nipples, while a man with shorts split up so far that personal parts were exposed was flaunting it on the free weights. Evidently if you're young and good looking that type of dress is ok but a bit of modesty is not. Seems like the "no judgement" policy of PF is a load of lip service to appease the woke crowd. I canceled both of our memberships and found another gym. I offered to meet the manager outside for a brief instruction into having his rear end kicked if he didnt apologize to my wife for calling her a liar. He promptly changed his attitude and apologized profusely. We will never go back to PF as it seems to be poorly managed with non compliance for their own policies. Our experience leads us to conclude it's only for young, sexy singles willing to flash the flesh. Others need not apply!!

    It's all a nightmare when you have more than a year not set foot to any Planet Fitness (because you have another membership and you canceled the PF one) But still paying $22.99..every month. I Still have the what's so called cancelation confirmation paper.

    Don’t join until you read the ENTIRE very long contract on the tiny 3”x3” screen. There are several reasons why they won’t give you a printout to read. I even opted out of “we sell your information”. So they called and explained they needed to do that so I could be contacted if there was a problem with my account. Knowing that this was total nonsense, I flatly refused. They clearly sold my information anyway. I have had no less than 100 junk emails per day for over a month since that phone call. No amount of blocking emails stems the tide.

    In addition, their equipment is cheap. I inflamed a muscle using a piece of equipment similar to one that I have used many times at a different company’s gym without injury. After one workout there I decided not to go back and stick solely to my other gym membership. Fortunately, Planet Fitness was a Silver Sneakers membership so I did not need to play games over canceling payments which many other reviews have detailed. There are many other reputable gyms.

    I just wanted to let someone know that the staff at PF Fredericksburg Costner Corner are amazing. They always have smiles and are cleaning some type of equipment. It is refreshing to know that the staff truly care about fitness and customer service. One young gentleman named Jon always impresses me. He is always greeting everyone with a smile and he is always professional.

    Just today he was working on diagnostics with the Hydro bed. He was diligent and he kept looking for the problem. I know that he went above and beyond his details in work and he just impressed me. I would like to let that young man know that he was being watched and admired. You have great staff, but this young man never fails to impress. Please bless him with the knowledge that this was written about him, and please let your staff know that their work is not in vain. I truly appreciate being a part of the PF family. God bless you all. Give that young man Jon a raise or a day off he deserves it!!!

    August 17, 2022 I went the Planet fitness in Brick to go work out. One of the employees told me I was banned from the gym. Asked me to leave. I asked for the number for corporate. Call corporate several times to resolve the matter. Never gone anywhere. Get a phone call later this evening or come to find out she didn’t explain why they were cancelling my membership. Told me I was being too aggressive / intimidating members of the club. Ask her see video footage of the complaint and asked to list a complaint. She told me she could not release that information to me. Very rude and nasty to me on the phone telling me that tapping my feet and breathing heavy is intimidating and being aggressive in the gym. Behaviour which explain to her I have ADHD and disability problem which medical condition. Which one of their policies is called discrimination. I feel like I’m being discriminated 100%. I’m feeling harassed and bullied at the same time.

    Like the place but during Covid billed for months we could not go. The problem is that they bill through your credit card and do not accept any other mode of payment. Which means they have control to wrongfully bill you.

    Don't trust this Company. They are not $10 per month. They then hit you with enrollment and annual fees. Then when they make a mistake with the billing, they will hit you will late fees. Management is indifferent to resolving the issue.

    I pay for the black card for Planet Fitness. With this you can use the extras such as the tanning beds (Which I prefer not to use) or the total body enhancement or the hydro beds which I pay $14. extra a month. The three hydro beds seldom work so I quit the extra $14. If they are not working 50 % of the time, we should get a discount for that month. But they do not reimburse you for what you cannot use. I like the gym, just not the extras.

    I have been a loyal member of Planet Fitness from 2013 until I moved to Indianapolis. I have just joined LA Fitness for: The facility on 86th Street has restroom as porta potties outside, hot, stinky and quite frankly unsanitary, when asked (May 2022) when the renovations would be complete, I was told, don't know, late June, along with being rude. I do not want to make them my home club and the Carmel location is too far. I went through my South Bend Home Location in late May (Robin) and cancelled. Was told it was done, it was not. So, cancelling for this company is a scam, after what should be a simple online process is now so complicated that people just say, why.. And let that "great" deal happen each month on bank draft or credit card. I had to contact my bank and set up a stop payment on that fee.

    I was exercising on one of the trail machines. It has been 20 min when the manager "**" at the 9703 W Broad St Glen Allen, VA 23060 location, comes to me and tells me that I cannot put my outdoor little pouch that contains only my cellphone on the trail machine handler. I have seen other people doing this, and I don't see him complaining about that. Why me? I am asking. After that incident, I lost track of how many calories I was burning and also what I was doing. I asked him (the manager **) "where was that said." He said it was the policy. He was mean and told me to read it in the contract. If you as a gym organization don't display these kind of rules how I am supposed to know? Why do we need treated as kids? Why did he single me out? because I am Latino dark skin? Why they don't pay attention to keep the sanitizing stations with the supplies so people can wipe down their equipment. That's more important than a minuscule pouch.

    I got really mad at the situation and I told him that "he made my afternoon hell." I am trying to decompress and somebody who is on the hunt of "I don't know what" comes and addresses you and don't even have a logical explanation for what he is saying. Logically, I lost my cool. He told me he is the owner, and I had to leave. Then it came a red hair heavy set guy and told me to leave. Why you pleople keep treating customers like criminals? Your people doesn't know how to handle grievances or address the customers, especially at this location. Please advise. I know you have too many people that you don't care about a simple black card. Please, address the situation if you care otherwise I will look for another gym where they understand the clients.

    This is Hotel California in gym memberships. You can check in any time you like, but you may never leave... I joined Planet Fitness 3 years ago and went a few times. Like most, I didn't stay with it, I moved out of state, and actually forgot all about the membership even though money came out of my account each month (yes, my bad). I finally realized what was happening and how much money I was wasting. I went online to cancel my membership - something that should be simple enough to do since there is no contract (that's what they boast). But you can't cancel online. You have to go to the actual PF facility where you enrolled and speak to someone, convince them that you want to cancel, and hopefully be released. I'm now out of state. Trying to figure out how to make that work. Just know what you are walking into and be committed to the membership. It could be yours for life!

    I canceled my membership in person, as instructed over the phone. The person at the counter said that has been taken care of. For many months, I did not check my bank statement carefully. But I just found out that I had been charged for the membership month after month. They refused to give me any refund. They said that there is no record of me canceling it. Just because their employee made a mistake, I have to pay for it. User's recommendation: Membership fee is cheap. But I guess this is how they make extra money. Don’t go to Orem one.

    I was at my Monday 5 AM workout and while on the treadmill I noticed that 25% of the TV's were not working....again! This had been the case for about the last 3 weeks. Back 3 weeks ago, when the counter was manned, I notified the attendant. Used to be months ago when this occurred. The attendant would actually come out and look at the situation, not 3 weeks ago. Then about 2 weeks ago a new attendant came in and was never at the desk. Once I saw the sign that there was man cleaning the women bathroom and figured that was where he was.

    Friday I decided to write a note to the Manager and mention the now constant lack of functioning TV's. I sought a place where it would be seen. I saw tape on the counter so I took some and looked for a place to tape the note. I decided to tape it to the monitor of one of the computers. At that instant the Trainer strolled in and he said "What are you doing behind the counter?" I said, "Oh, here you can give this note to the manager about the TV's not working for weeks now." I handed him the message and walked out.

    Later the manager called me and said my membership of 8 years was terminated. I asked why, she said, "You went behind the counter, you cannot go behind the counter." I said "I was taping a message to you about the TV's not working." She said, "I watched the video and you looked at a computer." I said no, I was taping the message to the computer. She said, "Sorry upper management has made the decision to terminate you." I said there is no sign saying to not go behind the counter, how was I supposed to know? She said, "You can file a complaint online." Only a Nazi organization terminates someone for trying to communicate with the manager with a note when the attendant behind the desk is gone. BTW, the attendant was in the women's bathroom for my entire 45 minute workout, I guess you can't have cameras in the Locker Room huh? Suspicious? Planet Fitness should be called Planet **. It's run by tiny minded morons.

    I am a long-time Planet Fitness member. I signed up in January I believed and only used my membership once. Life circumstances lead me to the need of cancellation. I called the club in late March or early April to cancel. From my recollection, the very empathetic lady said, "No problem." This week I noticed my payment of $10.83 had been drafted twice. Ok this shouldn’t be a problem and oh I was wrong. I finally track down ‘my club’ after multiple calls and the lady had no empathy and no understanding and really just talked over her customer.

    I just want what was told to me. This seems as if this could be an easy process. I’m sure if it was taking money it would be an easy process. Perhaps it was just the lady with no empathy that was the problem. Planet has been my gym of choice for years so I’ll have to digest all this. I really want to warn the potential new customer. I have nothing but time and I’m sure my negative reviews will far out surpass the 2 payments of $10.83. I really don’t understand businesses with no customer service. It’s a shame!     I have been treated in a rude way with one of the staff members with no fault from my side, he asked me to leave the building and he is going to cancel my membership. When I asked him what is the reason he said no reason!!!. I requested to talk to a manager he refused and refused to provide manager's contact, I hope management take care of that kind of discrimination which is unacceptable and not legal.

    I thought I was going to be moving and I upgraded to the black card. I decided not to move and requested to downgrade back to the basic plan and I was told that there would be a $58 cancellation fee for the black card and if I wanted to renew the basic plan again it would be a additional annual fee incurred and I thought that was just so distasteful so I decided that I would just cancel the plan. Because that was just wrong in my opinion in the company needs to have better standards or values for itself. What a disgrace for a company.

    Well before my daughter went upstate to college she stopped In our local Planet Fitness to end her membership until after graduation. Well, couple years later I realized my account was being billed for her account and it was never cancelled. Despite her memory of cancellation her lack of email proving it was cancelled negated them from refunding us despite them knowing she did not enter a PF since she went to college. I have a few issues with that. What if she never got the email? What if the person who processed her cancellation screwed up? Sadly she never knew as it was billed to my account and I never noticed it as I pay for my entire family's PF accounts. Very bad policy.

    The manager at Vivian ** was not polite or caring for me thinking if canceling due to my daughter being able to attend gym. She kept saying, "So do you wanna cancel? Do you want to cancel?" She asked 3 times like she wanted me to cancel. Why do you have managers with that kind of personality? You look business that way. It’s not a way to treat someone who helps pay for her paycheck.

    I received a card to join for $1 down and $10/month. When I arrived they told me they would not honor that price as it was a mistake. They then rejected my free trial offer saying “my manager won’t let us do that anymore.” This is bait and switch at its worst. Go to a quality gym that is upfront about its prices and fees and not so crooked.

    My husband and I decided to get gym memberships to our local gym back in October.. Since then my husband accepted a job that takes him out of town for months at a time.. This place continues to charge my acct each and every month for 50$.. I do not drive.. I've called them repeatedly to stop and cancel our membership.. We've visited the gym 3 times.. 3 times!!! AND MY HUSBAND I ARE STILL BEING CHARGED 50$ A MONTH! I truly believe this is a scam.. Makes me curious on how many others that are out there like us.. Will we be refunded.. ABSOLUTELY NOT!

    I belonged to the gym on McGregor Blvd for 6 years. The first 5 were ok...Nothing special just close by but the location isn;t great. The machines were limited or broken and there was a delay in fixing them. Customer service was null and really went downhill the last year with the new management. I also saw many workers come and go the last year. Planet Fitness is a franchise of a big conglomerate and you can't even find out who the owner is so I guess that's why their staff get limited training which makes them Very unprofessional. I no longer go there. So I joined Crunch Fitness and I love it. Great location, bigger place and many beautiful machines. Customer service can't be beat. You'll love their customer service! Give Crunch Fitness a try Instead.

    I was able to easily upgrade my membership from Basic to Black, but now that I realize I don't use those services, to downgrade requires an in-person visit. The next hurdle I expect is 'You have to come back when a Manager is here.' I will let you know if I'm right, after I completely cancel the membership.

    I'm a disabled senior and like all seniors on a fixed income from SS these times are exceptionally hard with skyrocketing rent, grocery prices going up daily, and of course the outrageous price of gas and car repairs. Last night (Monday April 18 2022) I went to the Canton Ga Planet Fitness to workout. I was told my membership had expired. I got nothing from the management about it is time to renew my membership. Not a call knowing how easy that is as my cell number is used whenever I enter. Not a text again knowing how easy that is as they use my number so often. Not even an email which is also on file.

    I have previously suffered public discrimination from the management at this club when the manager lambasted me there in the seating area at the entrance while I rested and cooled down from exercise. I require much longer periods of rest to cool down because I was extensively burned at 12 and therefore it takes me much longer to cool down. The manager publicly harangued me trying to make a case that I cannot sit quietly with my phone as I cool down.

    Now I drive to the gym to work out and I'm informed that my membership has expired. No notification beforehand of any kind. I was not allowed to work out while I was there. In these hard times to allow your disabled seniors to burn expensive gas to discover they are not going to allowed to workout is CS that is worth less than a turd. I offered to pay but the club would not accept my Paypal. At that time paypal was where my money was and not in my bank account so I could not use my debit card.

    Had I refused to pay then to be told I could not workout would fit. I did offer to pay but the club refused my card because they don't take paypal which is a famous global form of payment. After suffering public discrimination and now being turned away from my workout because the club refuses a famous globally renowned form of payment is the pinnacle of stupidity and the most customer unfriendly treatment from a national franchise where you need your customers to "want" to pay for your service. I got the kind of service that makes customers hopping mad and totally disgusted to the point of seriously considering going with your competition.

    It is my hope that the people at the national level take action to correct the slipshod, lazy, disrespectful, injurious customer treatment found at this club. Clearly no true business professional wants this type of malfeasance to continue and infuriate more and more of hard earned customers. After all you are there to "grow" your business not grow your competition, right?

    This is the worst place ever, so inconvenient the way this place runs. It's hideous. Not open 24 hours over the weekends and when I need to shower before going to work the locker-room is closed, it really sucks.

    I had to call billing after they said they couldn't and billing could see the account and gave me an account number and the gym finally resolved it. I know IT creates issues but I think they could have handled this a lot better but after all that the issue was resolved.

    After being a member for a year, Planet Fitness lost the record of my daughter's account and they will not stop billing me. After spending a couple hours trying to straighten this out with a couple of different people at the gym, I was told that they cannot stop billing me. There is no one for them to talk to or contact about billing me. The only way I can permanently stop the billing through my bank is to close my account. And as a temporary solution they put a picture up on the system that will pull up when she tried to get in and tell staff to let her in - the problem was it was a picture of a different person and a different race. This is beyond ridiculous. They are basically saying that once they start billing you if there is ever a problem they will bill you forever. Stay away from this gym.

    I have to be at work at 4:AM and this location is literal 3 minutes from my job...which is on my way to work. I had complained twice about the cold showers and no "HOT" water. I had even let the shower run for 5 minutes. I "EVEN" turn on 2 other showers, with the same "FREEZING" cold water. There was no one at the desk but seen the PF worker working around earlier during my workout. I called the location today 03/29/2022, to speak with Supervisor, and she told me that the MEN had "COMPLAINED" already about no hot water in showers. She was ruthless and didn't care about having "HOT" showers or hot water. That "Supervisor" recommended me to go another LOCATION! After I told her I tested 3 out 4 showers...that I need to shower before heading to work. DISGUSTING MANAGEMENT! I will be calling the HOUSTON CITY STATE BOARD...NEXT.

    In December of 2020 I placed my account on a 6 month hold which went from January 2021 to July of 2021 when Planet Fitness began charging me a monthly fee. Those fees have been taking out automatically from my credit card. This month, March 2022, I was charged $39 for an annual fee along with the $10 monthly fee. I have not been going to their facility since the beginning of the pandemic and had not returned so today I stopped to cancel my membership. I was told I had a $15 late fee from December of 2020 that needed to be paid before I could cancel. They could not tell me where this late fee came from and I objected because they have had access to my bank or credit card all along. Finally I just went ahead and paid that additional $15. Never did I receive any late notice. I find their way of doing business unacceptable. Glad to be done with them.

    Deeply saddened by the abuse and Bullying I experienced from being a member here. Women who worked at front barked, were rude, demanding when I had lost my phone and necklace went looking for it. It seemed she was on a power trip and just plain didn't like me and felt superior by ordering me, an adult around. I felt comfortable at that gym until they came around. That general area is sketchy and I always regularly get dirty looks for being me. Sad they are haters. I asked her not to speak to me rudely, and she reacted with an even meaner, nasty attitude as if she were a 3-year-old. "No, you're being rude!", she says this to a member? I tried to speak with manager and they were clearly comrades. I knew I wasn't going to get anywhere speaking with manager.

    So this other Bullying, nasty woman at the front (member) started making fun of me and laughing at me, when she knew nothing of what just happened. I felt like such an outsider, so judged, and discriminated against which is why I reacted the way I did. Corporate doesn't even exist, No help at all, and they can treat other citizens exactly how they want and get away with it. Mob organization. AND THEY STOLE MY NECKLACE... I have no doubt about it! As well, my phone ended up being there after all this! Their mean spirited, discriminating behavior will come back on them.

    I purchased this membership as it came highly recommended on a couple VanLife blogs as being a good countrywide gym option for traveling. I ended up having nothing but issues and hardly ever used the membership. I’m still confused as to whom and what can be done and where it has to be done. I tried several times to reach out to management on the phone and though I was told my membership would be canceled it was not as there seems to be a kick the can down the road message service. I won’t bore you with the details of the year and a half of payments and maybe 5 visits total to this cheap but typical hoping you just pay and don’t go gym. The one time I actually got to go into a club for the purpose I bought the membership for, after about 45 minutes the front desk staff finally just let me in after nothing was working properly to get me added correctly.

    This company has the worst communication amongst each location and honestly shouldn’t be selling a multi location membership as it’s been completely inconsistent with who can actual manage a membership. The manager at the wrong location finally canceled my membership but then couldn’t forward anything to the manager or corporate office, not a good choice when you have a customer with valid concerns. It sure feels like I paid for something that was very difficult for me to use, there was no real customer service, and then a final not gonna even listen to what you have to say ignore. Good luck with that attitude. I sold my Planet Fitness stock despite a motley fool’s recommendation to keep it as I just don’t see how it will keep its doors open once people start cutting expenses. I’d rather pay more and go to a gym that I can actually get into and knows how to communicate and understand what it means to be in the service industry.

    PF works hard to claim a non-judgmental atmosphere. It is their main marketing plug. They are however the most judgmental club I have joined. At many of their clubs they have a super sized sign mocking people they refer to as lunks. In that sign they mock people who hydrate (since when is that bad), people who wear sleeveless T-shirts (most of AZ) and those who drop weights (clearly a new lifter learning or an accident).

    Tonight in Henderson AZ I noticed an alarm on that sign because the judge mental tweaks at the desk keep setting it off harassing a guest who dropped his weights And then I have no clue because they just kept doing so. They told me it was policy if someone dropped their weights that they had to set it off. This is judgmental over the top, making them the industry's hypocrites. Other gyms put trainers out on the floor who can coach for safety and help new lifters figure out how to not drop weights. However PF would prefer to mock and harass, not cool.

    Planet Fitness is cheap, but you get what you pay for. The $10 experience. Staff separates weight from general workout area into the stretching room causing member to fight over weights, plus the minute you walk to get a drink your weights/machine is stolen.     Opened a membership at my "home gym" in Nampa- then moved to Boise shortly after. Was told that I couldn't cancel over the phone, I had to go into my home gym or send a handwritten letter with a signature. You can't even cancel online. I assumed with COVID they would take a verbal signature. Nope. So, I sent a letter with my signature and my membership was still "pending cancellation." They wouldn't let me update a card over the phone (like if it's been compromised). They charged me late fees and sent my "past due" balance to collections. I have been trying to cancel for just under a year- I shouldn't have had a balance at all. I went into my home gym and told them the situation and they charged me for 7 months. I haven't even stepped foot in the gym for an entire year. DON'T GYM HERE. THE SERVICE QUITE FRANKLY SUCKS.

    I wanted to terminate my membership with Planet Fitness, but was offered only two options: come in to cancel in person, or send a handwritten letter with my information and signature (no actual cancellation form). Because I moved to CO from OH, I'm forced to send a letter for termination. I’m astonished that in 2022 this is the way Planet Fitness decides to carry out this procedure. It appears to me that PF’s strategy with this is to make termination as difficult as possible. I have to actually pay the post office for postage just to terminate my membership, even though PF has a robust website and app on which membership and account details are held, but no option to terminate.

    I was a black card member as of 1/2023. These people are scammer. They are using an international ABC banking system that went in my account several times within the two months stealing my money. My membership is twenty one a month, I have been paying more every month. They forced you to provide a checking and credit card number so their ABC international bank can draft from both of your account monthly. I have only been a member for two month and used their facility once. They have no clue and will not tell the truth. I have cancel my membership and they are still planning to take more money out of my account on the 1st of next month. Beware scammer... International banking facility... No way to speak with anyone. Coming in our neighborhood stealing and taking advantage of innocent elderly customers. Not trustworthy...

    I am thoroughly pleased with my PF experience. My club is in Chapel Hill and the staff are courteous and professional. Huge shout to (and hope they promote him) Elijah. He always makes me feel welcomed and valued as a customer/client. And PF should clean up their cancellation policy. My daughter had a similar experience after leaving for college. They don't make it easy and meanwhile keep taking from your bank account.

    A customer's ability to cancel their membership is riddled with hurdles. You are not allowed to call/email the club to cancel. You must either be physically present (which is impossible if you've recently moved) or send a physical note requesting cancellation which the office can just claim to have not received. DO NOT RECOMMEND joining unless they fix such anti-consumer policies.

    Went to Planet Fitness to sign up for a membership. Found out that they require two forms of payment. 1st form is they want your checking account info for payment and then they want a credit card for a back up payment, they try and get you to believe this is for your convenience. Yea with all the computer scams out there nobody's bank info is safe. It's bad enough you give them your credit card info too. At least with a credit card you would have more control over your account. Hard to believe they have not been sued over this practice. I can't believe people would just throw their bank info out there like that. Planet Fitness could only be a dollar a month. I will never be a member.

    So, I joined in October because it seemed affordable while looking for a job. 10 bucks a month no problem. However, the late fees, 1 one day late I might add, bring that up to 25 dollars and then after two months of membership I get an annual fee of 40 bucks. Long story short from October to December for a membership I got for it's affordability instead of the 30 I had planned on I got over 100 dollars charged.

    I have been going back and forth with this place for nearly 6 months after they allowed my minor child to sign up for a membership telling him to lie about his birthdate online. Never one time did anyone in my family ever step foot inside of any of their clubs but yet they refused to stop charging us. So for over 6 months we were being stolen from and there was nothing I could do to stop them. Even after speaking to their customer service via e-mail they refused to cancel and continued to charge after telling them the whole story about their staff instructing my son to lie about his age. Finally they say the charges have been stopped but I don’t believe it they even charged after telling me they were cancelled. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BANK INFORMATION. They will help themselves to your money!

    My billing information was put in wrong by the staff member. When I was charged monthly, I was charged a late payment as well. So it was a pile of charges. My keycard wouldn't work either. I left several messages for the manager to contact me. Months went by after me constantly asking for the manager, I got no return calls and no help. You can't call a 1800 number. It will not work. You have to go to the gym because it's franchises. When I finally talked to the manager she was extremely rude and moody.

    Also, I used the tanning beds and they are disgusting. So I did a survey saying how bad it was with pictures. Hair and scum all around the bottom of the stand up beds. Well would you like to know the tasteless response I got,,,, my membership canceled by the manager herself. She argued with me about my complaints and trying to get in touch with her. The people that work at the gym don't work out or even know how to use the machines, not at this location. Alarms go off with the weights, they don't have all the correct machines, for a beginner it's fine. You're better off paying a real gym.

    I recently moved to Florida and contacted Planet Fitness to cancel my membership in Indiana, thinking it would be a simple process of making a call or sending an email. Nope. Instead, you have to either stop by the gym (not an option at this point), or send a written letter via USPS. No faxes, calls, or emails allowed. Such a ridiculous process. I had thought I might consider rejoining at a PF in our new home area at some point, but now that will never ever happen because of this policy that is clearly designed to bilk customers out of as much money as possible.

    As you can read from other reviews they cheat on the clients. I had the same experience. My experience was with the Hickory Hills location in IL. But corporate is even worse. Don't get membership with them, don't sign their contract. I had to call the police and ended up switching.

    I walked into an empty gym and begged the 3 staff members to allow me to use the bathroom.... begged! (Having a small emergency). All looked into my eyes and said no, even the Asst. Manager., cited policy, and refused. As a 10yr business owner in Bend, Oregon myself I was mortified at the lack of human compassion from a local business...sell me a guest pass if you must follow procedure.

    Joined in college for $20/mo so I could use the gym when I went home. After college I moved back home and only went a couple times. After a couple years of paying them and not going I decided to cancel my membership. They made it practically impossible. Refused to do it over phone or email. They said I had to go back to the original location in person to cancel the membership. They also told me at this point that they had sent me to collections over $19.99 they couldn’t take out of my account for some reason. In the months since they sent me to collections I was never notified not even once of the inability to charge my card or the fact that they sent it to collections. Never ever waste your time or money on this sorry excuse of a gym. They will overcharge you and make you jump through hoops to even make it right. Absolute trash and will be sure to tell everyone I know. Wish I could give zero stars they don’t even deserve one.

    I joined PF online for their $10mo program. They charged a $39 fee upfront and $10mo for 2 months. Then charged another $39 "annual fee" after only 60 days from signup. I never used the gym. I went to the location to stop the membership as I hurt my knee and cannot use the facility. They then claimed I owed them a $59 break up fee. They claim buried in the "contract' I signed. I asked management if they could help with that and they wouldn't budge saying, "it's in the contract you signed". Very misleading. Not friendly. Horribly run operation. I encourage others to look elsewhere for their gym memberships.

    My visit to the Planet Fitness in Martinez, GA today was terrible! I tried to sign my wife in as a guest & it didn't work. Instead of the member trying to make it work, my wife got frustrated with the process & decided to go sit in the car while I worked out. Had to cut it short because I did not want her to wait in the heat. I will not use this facility again, and will take my membership elsewhere.

    Worst gym in the world!!!! I was told that my son guest could not enter the gym without him showing legal court papers, ridiculous! The police were called because on me, MOM, after confronting management over the gym bootleg made-up policies on providing legal court papers for entry into the gym. The gym manager went and snatched my 14 teen granddaughter off the stair master because I walked outside to make a phone call after I signed the waiver. Who carries legal court papers around in their pocket when they go to the gym with a guest? Nobody!

    The manager refused to allow my son Niece access into the gym, because he doesn't have legal court papers stash in his gym shorts. Showing her uncle has guardianship to sign a waiver at the gym. Management Is a Joke!!! At Planet Fitness gym in West Palm Beach Florida, off of 45th St. Military Trail. LA Fitness and Anytime fitness 24-hour gym is a better gym To become a member. You don’t have to show legal court papers for your guest to enter to the gym.

    I have Neuropathy in my legs and signed up to start therapy for myself. I haven't been able to use my membership and have been paying for a membership I've never used. Not even once!! I've been in the hospital with Covid and just found out that Planet fitness keeps trying to debit my account and is costing me multiple $29 overdraft fees. I also found out that you have have to go into the gym to cancel your account. A Lawyer suggested I do NOT mail something myself because Planet Fitness will cancel your account when they get around to it. He said they are relentless, and in his opinion, they need to be stopped!! The Lawyer also said that if you don't have funds, they will rack up your overdraft fees until the bank closes your account.

    I've found that they try every 4 day So... Me and my Covid will be going to my local Planet Fitness tomorrow to cancel my account. Nice looking out for your members... Nice policy!!! This is on you, not me!!! This is put in place so members can't just cancel their accounts at will via online and so on, which makes planet fitness more money. There are companies that spend years messing with customers like these guys are, and it never stops until they mess with that one person who fights back. I'm that one person!!!

    I'm hoping this reaches people and gets media attention. I'm hoping to get in touch with thousands of other this has happened to. There needs to be laws in place, and planet fitness needs to be held accountable for for all the money they've cost and taken from people. I'm going to post this on every media outlet that has any sort of post about planet fitness, at some point, and outlet will pick it up, and help and others in my position make things easier for future members who aren't aware of how planet fitness handles things with their members. There are literally thousands of complaints out the just like mine, and many are even a lot worse. There really does need to be laws to protect us, and Planet Fitness needs to be held accountable.

    Company is using a bait and switch advertisements. Received a flyer in the mail, with 0 enrollment and 10.00 a month plus 1 month free. After I joined it was 39.00 activation fee due in 1 month. Plus no free month as per the flyer. In addition even the counter assistance said she couldn’t explain the flyer. And its discounts. They Lost a customer for life.

    If I could have a negative star review, I would!! I cancelled my membership one year ago. I just realized my husband's card has been charged for the past year so I called the Dublin, Ohio location to cancel. I have to talk with a manager, 3 days later I finally spoke with him, Matt. I explained I had cancelled a year ago, still being billed, he reluctantly said, "I will take care of it for you" to which I said, "oh, you're refunding me? When can I expect that to be credited?" Matt said, "no, I will cancel your membership over the phone as a NICETY to you but I have to submit to corporate for a refund and quite honestly, they won't refund you without a copy of your cancellation" (which, my fault, I don't have).

    I asked who I could speak with at corporate because that doesn't work for me, they can see I haven't been there in over a year, etc. He then said, "well now I won't even cancel your membership over the phone because that's not enough for you, you will have to come in person and cancel". ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The convo went further south from there but I can assure you, I will file a complaint with the BBB, their corporate office and anyone else I can find as well as every public posting I can make!!

    If you don't plan to be very serious about exercise, this gym is okay. If you want things like barbell bench press, decent dumbbells, anything standard in a normal gym, you won't find it here. It's more like a poorly-stocked library than a gym. If you want to cancel, they make it hard. They want you to go to your 'home club' which I was at for one day when I signed up as I was traveling, told them I didn't live there and they promised that cancelling would be no trouble. It's not as easy as a phone call or anything like that. It's a month-to-month, cancel-anytime membership so long as you sent a certified letter or jump through a bunch of hoops that waste your time. This place is annoying and not much of a workout facility.

    Asked a front desk person about my upcoming annual charges, he said not to worry, no extra charges will be taken out besides my monthly membership. A month later I am charged annual fee. Spoke to Location manager who admitted that they had issues with staffing and training and apologized for misinformation but did not offer a refund. Then I spoke to customer service and they said that there was no misinformation given, but rather a miscommunication and the employee must have misunderstood my question (don't see how much clearer the question could be). In addition front desk staff is often absent, so I am not able to get into a massage chair or any other Black Card member amenities. Full disappointment all around.

    I used to belong to Planet Fitness, and paid for the year in advance. Now I can only sign up by giving them permission to withdraw money from my bank account?! No-one gets permission to do that, let alone a gym. Why in the world do they not accept credit cards like every other business in this nation?!!!     I moved from Canada to America, and with covid I tried to cancel my membership while I was still in the country. They did not allow it as they stated it was "frozen" due to covid shut down of gyms. I then relocated to America and once the gyms opened up I was charged and I called to cancel. They told me I either had to come in (hello I'm not in the country) or write a letter. By the time my letter was received, I was billed ANOTHER cycle and denied any refund. This gym is the reason people are working out at home and finding other sources for fitness and healthier lifestyles. Zero circumstantial customer services, and in this day and age that is the bare minimum that should be provided to PAYING customers.

    I signed my 17-year-old son up for a membership with Planet Fitness in Kingsport TN. I went in did the paperwork and got everything taken care of paying with a credit card. 2 months later after he had signed in using his phone at least 20 times they said he didn't have a membership. I went back in to straighten it out and they said it was a problem with their system and he would have to get a new membership. I signed him up again paying with a credit card. The employee I spoke with told me he was the manager and asked me for my checking account information. I told him that I didn't want to use my checking account, I wanted to use a credit card. He said the checking account was needed as an alternative billing.

    The very next month they did an automatic draft from my checking account which didn't have any funds because I only get paid once a month, the draft was returned and my bank charged me a $30.00 NSF fee. I called and asked for the manager and it wasn't the guy who told me he was the manager. I explained what was going on and he said they always use the bank account and never credit cards, I had already made 2 payments with a credit card. I explained what I was told and he apologized and said that he would give my son 2 months free to make up for the misunderstanding. My son works out with his friends there, he likes the gym and I like him working out. So I agreed to eat the extra $10.00 and he would have 2 months free.

    The very next day they hit my checking account again and cost me another $30.00 NSF fee. I called again and spoke with the same guy and he told me that they would do it again, they do it 3 times. He said they couldn't stop it because it was 3rd party billing. I called my bank and explained the situation, they said that the only way to be sure was to close my checking account and open another one. Right now I am on hold to speak with the manager again to make sure my son will be able to work out today without being embarrassed by getting turned down at the front desk. If my son didn't like this gym I wouldn't go through this.

    Okay, after being on hold for 30 minutes I finally spoke with the manager again and made sure that my son's membership is notated in good standing. We still have to get the NSF fees taken care of, but it seems we are close to getting that taken care of. If they don't make this right, there will be another 1-star rating and another unflattering review.

    I was a new member at Planet Fitness. I had visited the club and worked out on three separate occasions with my son prior to these events. The third time I worked out I checked in with the manager, he helped me negotiate the app to check in, we exchanged pleasantries, and I proceeded immediately to the workout floor carrying a small gym bag in FULL view of the supposed manager. The prior two visits I had carried the same small bag. In this bag my son and I use it to contain our keys, phone, gloves, a belt, and most importantly diabetic testing supplies.

    On this third visit I was told that I was not allowed to have a bag on the workout floor. Mind you, it is not a suitcase. Everything was contained in the bag very neatly and the bag was behind the equipment, not in the path where anybody could have remotely walked near it. An attendant at the club inform me it was against the club policy to have a bag on the workout floor. I have never heard of such a thing in my life…not allowed to have a gym bag in a gym(???)!

    In my mind that would be analogous to banning pocketbooks in a shopping mall. Anyway, I tried to explain the necessity of the bag only to reach deaf ears. Frustrated, I went immediately to the manager who was quite rude and canceled my membership, as he was unwilling to discuss this matter. The manager even falsified my reason for leaving the club on my cancellation papers, as I suspect to protect his monthly membership performance data.

    At this point, I feel violated, even possibly that my ADA protections have been ignored by this club. So my recommendation to anyone who needs to maintain readily available access to medical equipment consider avoiding this club, because you will have to carry that equipment in hand and let everyone around you know your medical condition(s). Healthcare is supposed to be a private, protected aspect of a person’s life. There’s a sign on the wall that talks about “judgment free zone” and “acceptance”… I would beg to differ at this point based on my experience, the manager’s rude behavior, and the selective application of their policies (I pointed out three suspected policy concerns just standing at the door canceling my membership only to see them ignored).

    I go to Planet Fitness on Mack Rd at 2 am in the morning prior to work. I have been told by the employees that people have been breaking into cars. Planet Fitness needs to hire a security guard. When I asked the representative at Planet Fitness, he said that they can't afford to pay for a security guard. They need to hire a security guard.

    I do know, the law is required to wear a mask all the time. My kid is 13 years old, he sometimes taking out the mask to breath after 15-30 minutes of biking or on treadmill. A lady works in the morning at Planet Fitness, 3251 S White Rd, San Jose, CA 95148. Instead of asking/reminding nicely to wear a mask. She keeps harassing/threaten to remove my kid out of the facility. He does not feel safe/comfortable with that lady and does not want to go there to work out.

    Planet Fitness started back billing customers for the gym in March 2021. This was a very unfair decision because of Cov 19 and the status of safety was questionable. Vaccinations weren’t available to everyone and the Governor hadn’t re-opened the state yet. The company should have contacted members to find out their status before billing them. The only people that should have been billed were the members comfortable going back before the state officially opened back up. I called several times to cancel my membership and always told the manager was never in and staff was unsure of his schedule. I was very uncomfortable going in to cancel in person especially not knowing if I was going to catch the manager or not because of my medical issues. I need my money back because I was paying for services I couldn’t utilize. No one has contacted me either to resolve this issue.

    The gym is dirty - sweat on equipment and floors. Treadmills and treadmill TVs often don’t work. $10/a month is cheap but this gym is still not worth it. People try to be helpful but are not able to do much. When you ask about broken equipment and TVs you hear the same answers. The repair person will be here today. But nothing ever gets fixed.

    There are weight plates, dumbbells, kettle bells, and gray mats scattered all over the floor, at various locations. The benches with sweaty head stains. There is visible dirt build-up on all the benches, weight machines, and sweat stains running down the Stair Climber. One morning, I wasted 17 minutes just trying to find 5lbs/10 lbs dumbbells. I gave up. BTW, the weight stickers on the leg machine are out of order, i.e. 10lbs 45lbs, 25lbs! Go look at them! If you are tracking your progress, your log is incorrect. This gym is within walking distance of my home. The PF at Catonsville and Belair Road are far better maintained. Kudos to the management and staff at each location.

    At 5:16 A.M. staff came to the area, I cleaned, to inform me I could not use the dumbbell bar I had purchased, in the gym. I retorted that I cannot find the weights I needed. He replied the weights around, as he pointed around to various spots on the floor. No! He did not pick up the weights off the floor! He went on the say that I had to removed my dumbbell bar and place my pack back in the locker room. The lockers are available now. I informed him that there are zip ties on the lockers. The locks don’t fit. I asked him could I finished work out that I started, with my dumbbells bar I had to purchase because the weights are not raked. He replied ‘No’. That if I needed weights then come to the desk and asked him to get them. I left the facility.

    I went in today to request a freeze on my account as I am having my right knee completely replaced on July 7th. I will be unable to use the gym for the month of July but want to resume my work outs in mid-August. I was informed by the girl behind the desk that I would need a note from my doctor for her to do this! WHAT?! I need my surgeon to give me permission to pause my account for just one month? I have to have him take time out of his busy day to write a letter to my gym telling them that I’m not lying and that I will need to not work out for a month due to having my knee replaced. This is a service that I pay for, that I choose to use. I was shocked to say the least, and canceled my account. I will not be going back and will be sure to advise others to do the same.

    I was charged $85 for my first month. The onboarding signing up on the website was super confusing and unclear, and I was charged a $29 start up fee plus my monthly fee ($10) and then the annual $39 fee a few months later. So basically was charged a ludicrous amount of money in my first month. Planet Fitness customer service agents were super unhelpful. Beware of hidden fees, and maybe try using a local fitness center instead. PF not as cheap as it pretends to be

    While in the process of moving from Alaska to Florida I am trying to cancel my membership. I went to the Florida gym and was told the easiest way is to transfer the membership from Alaska to Florida and they would be able to cancel it immediately. In the meantime they asked me to write a letter as a secondary evidence that the membership would be cancelled. I made a call and the membership was transferred. They couldn’t cancel immediate due to system errors. They told me they would put my account on hold to prevent any further charges while the cancelation process happens which would be 3 -5 days but since I wrote the letter it should be no problem. After 5 days I got an email that my account was frozen. Still not cancelled. Two weeks later I am told I have to pay a cancelling fee. I said, "Take it out of the account where it gets billed." They still couldn’t cancel and now I got another monthly charge.

    I called and the assistant manager couldn’t provide me a contact for corporate making it even more difficult for me to go and search for an email cause they don’t have a direct phone number. This has been extremely difficult. It’s like they really want to give you a hard time. I was not given correct Information when I went in person.

    When they looked up my account they said there was no problem canceling and now there is a canceling fee and a monthly fee and after I did all they asked they don’t know why it’s not cancelled and I was told the freeze actually extended my membership so why would they offer a freeze when I’m trying to cancel not extend my membership. I’m so mad at this process. I don’t have the time to go back and forth with this and nobody gives me a correct response nor is able to cancel. This needs to be reported to the BBB. Cancelling should not be so complex. I’m still waiting to be called to find out what’s going on. I’m mad and nothing has resolved.

    Wifi has been an issue at the Planet Fitness location on Fairmont Pasadena for several weeks. When I asked the front desk for an update Dominic at the front desk told me that I was better off not connecting. When I asked when they were going to fix it he acted evasively. His answer was “the front desk don’t control the internet”. When I ask who does his answer was “l don’t know” then I ask corporate? “I don’t know”. The whole time looking away and only providing short answers with an attitude. Not the service you would expect to receive from a front desk who is there to assist the members who are actually footing their paycheck. I ask to speak to the manager to follow up on the wifi issue but Dominic informed me that the manager is only there from M-F. I ask for his name and again with a short answer and without even taking the time to look me in the face, he replies “I think his name is Lynn”.

    I continued with, I’ll be back Monday to talk to Lynn. Then I ask what is his last name? Answer: “I don’t know I think it starts with an M”. What kind of ** service are we getting? Then, I mentioned that I would make sure Monday I bring his name up to Lynn and mention the WiFi issue and his poor attitude, rudeness, and poor performance as a front desk personnel. That caught his attention for a second to only reply “I am not” and then he went back to punching the keyboard just ignoring our conversation. At the end of the day, we are paying for all the equipment and services. They are not giving us anything for free. All I am doing is demanding the services we all deserve in a paying membership. More to come.

    I was overseas and my account was frozen. I emailed and asked them to cancel my account but instead they took money from my account each month and on the top of that they added a late payment each month. In about four months they took about $200. I ask my local gym to return my money but they can’t deal with this and they refer me to the district manager. But the problem is they don’t have any phone number to talk with them. So I emailed them and the guy return my email in two days saying he has forwarded my email and District manager will get back to me. But I waited a week no one emailed me back. Then I emailed him back but no answer. It went like this for four weeks and finally I emailed him that they better cancel my account and I will dispute my money with my bank and then they cancelled my account. So easy to sign up but very hard to deal with them when you need help!

    This is my message to corporate which I feel is a review and a must for people to read. "Last year I got a membership and paid the $29.00 startup. It was literally a week later that Covid was hitting the news every night and the country was beginning to shut down. I called you guys to try and cancel service but you insisted I had to cancel in person. I am high risk and have family that is high risk, therefore I was not going to cancel in person. AND YOU GUYS SHOULD HAVE RESPECTED THAT! So, I simply canceled your auto withdrawal through my bank like any person would do.

    When returning today to continue service, your extremely naive employees stated I had a $70 balance and would have to pay the $29 startup fee again. I never even used your gym ONCE because of Covid!!! So you're telling me; I start service a year ago and pay the $29- then covid hits a week later, so I am forced to stay home, while I hadn't even had a chance to use your gym once- Then you make it impossible to cancel service, so I'm continually billed during a pandemic- Then when I go in to try and continue service (now that everyone and I have been vaccinated), you're telling me I have to pay $29 startup again, plus the $70 you billed me for several months during Covid???? Who in their right mind would do that? You guys are running a scam!

    I got burned by you guys several years ago when I moved cities and you said I couldn't cancel service over the phone and had to do it in person. So, what? I'm supposed to catch a plane out to your gym solely to cancel service? That's a joke. You guys have deplorable business practices, but I thought I would give you guys another chance to redeem yourself by starting service again. I quickly got a reality check through this second experience. You are more interested in foul play with 0 integrity just to make a buck, while you charge people for services they do not use, and make it nearly impossible to cancel services. (Even sadly during a pandemic that 600,000 Americans lost their lives from.)

    I understand businesses have suffered through the pandemic as well, but if you think charging people for services they could not and did not ever use is the way to save your business, then I highly suggest you think differently. What will destroy your business is me going to the media and exposing your god awful and corrupt business practices which I will be doing. I will also be going to corporate and exposing your foul practice all over social media. That's what will destroy your business. I look forward to seeing you on the news and hopefully not in court as well!!! If you even think about touching my credit, money or bank account ever again, I will be suing the hell out of you."

    I called to cancel my membership because I had moved and I was told I had to come in to do it in person. No problem, so I drove 45 minutes to go cancel my membership in person on May 23rd. The guy behind the counter said that my membership was canceled and that I was all set. Then, 9 days later on June 1st, I was charged $29 for my annual membership. I called the store and said that I had canceled my membership 9 days prior. They told me that it had never been canceled on their end but that now all of a sudden they could do it over the phone.

    I said, "Okay great thanks" and asked to make sure I would get refunded the $29 that was charged to me after I had attempted to cancel. I was told that I would not be refunded and there was nothing they could do. Then I asked to speak with the manager who said the same thing. I asked if there was anyone else I could talk to and she said someone else would call me back but I couldn't have any other person's contact. Nobody has called me yet. Terrible business.

    I had no idea cardio equipment could be so cheaply made. Hands down the worst equipment I’ve seen in 25 years. Should have toured the facilities before joining, but again, I had no idea cardio equipment could be so poorly made. This place is so horrible I am going to pay for a membership elsewhere even though I am locked into a contract for 1 year here. Also forgot to mention 3 of the 4 machines weren’t working properly, I couldn’t select the workout type which is one of the few customization options for workouts.

    I started a membership at a local Planet Fitness the day everything was closed down for Covid 19. They froze our accounts for 3 months. When they reopened the gyms, they had a policy to wear a mask while working out. I have a health condition that makes that impossible. I kept my account frozen. When it came unfrozen in January, they charged me $39.12, which I assumed was the yearly fee. I called and had it frozen again. It came unfrozen again in April. On May 3rd, they charged $39. Then on May 17th, they charged me my monthly fee of $23.06.

    I called to see what all the charges were. They told me it was prorated because of my account being frozen, my yearly fee, and my monthly fee. If an account has been inactive for that long, why would they keep charging all this money? The person I talked to also said they would not refund my money because it was in the club agreement. If this is how you treat people during a pandemic, I don't want to be a part of it. If you are unsure about using a gym, or you aren't ready to go all in, I would recommend you go anywhere but PLANET FITNESS. Good luck.

    The staff Reggie was very rude. Needs to work on people skills. Some of the rules makes no sense. You can’t reach a live person to talk to at customer support so you're forced to communicate with their rude ** staff. Definitely was a disappointment for my first time. I canceled my membership before it even started. I’ll take my business elsewhere. I should have known better than to go to Mondawmin location anyway. Reggie should quit if he don’t like his job. People like hospitality. That’s what keeps you coming not rudeness. Definitely never going back.

    Villa park club: Called club to cancel. They said bring in letter in person to cancel. Did these steps -gave them the cancelling letter (my mistake not copying paper and getting clerk's name.). This all happened pre-covid when clubs closed but post covid they started charging my account again. I called to cancel and they said I have a remaining balance so can’t cancel. (I can’t have a balance since cancelled more than year ago and still charged me?!) Manager completely not helpful and just couldn’t understand was their fault for not stopping my account. So infuriating. And still can’t cancel!

    I've been a member for approximately 1 month. I never had any issues with this gym or any public place regarding a mask. I stand FOR mask wearing for OBVIOUS reasons. If you DON'T wear a mask, you don't belong in public. Period. That Being said... Tonight I was at the gym. My 4th time on my black card membership. Both me and my husband are members, NOT to be confused with the "free guest" program that PF has. It was a normal evening, about an hour on the treadmill and 45 minutes on the weights. It's been a great experience thus far.

    During my treadmill experience I was speaking to my husband on the treadmill to the left of me, I immediately looked to my right and the associate came up to me, basically out of breath, and said he needed me to put my mask on. It was on. I had shown him that, and he said it wasn't up far enough. It was on COMPLETELY. He said "ok" and walked away. I completed my treadmill workout and moved on to the weights. About an hour and a half later I went into the ladies locker room and d took a shower. About 30 minutes in to my shower I was greeted by a police officer... I thought someone had fallen or something in the locker room. But she informed me she came for ME.

    I am completely appalled that I was inconvenienced in the middle of my shower.... For something that was misconstrued. as a new member of this club I have had no complaints but this is not how you treat your members. Let it be known that I am 150% for mask wearing in public. And I would never not wear a mask. Right now everyone needs to wear mask to control the spread of this horrible disease....

    I feel betrayed because the police officer had informed me that I was told to leave!! She said she was there to give me a trespassing warrant, and that I was never allowed to be on the premises ever again! She said she was there because of the incident that happened earlier.... Obviously, I was very confused... The officer even spoke to my husband, who verified there was No such incident. Whatsoever.

    I've never been warned by this associate, or anyone else. I take mask wearing very seriously. I informed the officer that the associate never said anything of that nature. I told the officer to look at the cameras because they would show our conversation was polite and calm. The cameras would show that the associate left, calmly after he spoke to me.

    Why on earth would I stay at the gym for an hour and a half and then take a shower if there was an "incident" where I was supposedly told to leave? I'll tell you why It's because this associate was acting very cowardly and instead of telling the police officers the truth he took the easy way out and called the police on two upstanding members of a gym at 12:00 at night... I mean this whole story sounds absurd... Obviously this associate isn't following the rules and feel like he can treat the members in this inappropriate manner. It would have just taken a simple look at that cameras and they would have seen that there was no incident whatsoever, and I did have my mask on. I feel like I'm in the Twilight zone! ???

    I've never been treated by any establishment in this way. I was in the middle of a shower?!? Who does that?!?! When I was escorted to the front, I confronted the associate and asked him why he lied to the officer. He almost went mute, and then I repeated my question, I asked him why he told them that he told me to leave? His response was that he spoke to me, but did not tell me to leave. Even though the officer heard this there was nothing they could do. I was able to record the entire conversation. I would have expected this kind of treatment from another establishment but not Planet Fitness. It's appalling, and rude.

    Back around 23 Feb. 2021 I had an issue with a manager at the Pittston Commons gym in Pittston P.A and contacted Planet Fitness team or HQ and they said that they were going to escalate the complaint and I have yet heard back from them. Today is March 21 2021. The problem was a racist comment made by the manager there but apparently Planet Fitness agree with the manager. So if you are other than ** you are not really welcome in planet fitness gym as well if you are a retired disable veteran.

    Just for those who do not know and pay for the Planet Fitness Black Card there's a trick they have! They advertise you can go to any club and work out if you pay the extra $10 dollars, but what they don't tell you is you can only go up to 10 times in a month to the gym unless you pay an additional $5 dollars per visit. Stupid in my opinion. If you are trying to get fit do the math and you can probably go to a better-quality gym cheaper.

    $10 a month is great if you’re fine with waiting to use a machine or weight every time you go to work out. There are too many customers and too few machines and weights there even later at night. I don’t like to wait or have to ask someone to jump in between their workout to do a set, but I guess that’s all you can expect for such a cheap price.

    This is a prime example of why I don’t like to give companies my debit card number. I gave them an account card I seldom use. Recently I withdrew some money from that account and found that they charged me even though I haven’t been in over a year and thought they had honored my request to cancel. Never again!

    I was confronted by ** the assistant manager at the Planet Fitness in Farmers branch TX club # ** about having to put on the face mask in a very rude and degrading way. I had just started my cardio and my mask kept slipping off and she approached me and said "You need to put your face mask on". I understand it is their policy but it's just the way she said it that made me feel degraded. Well news flash **! I am a paying customer! After this incident I decided I wanted to cancel my membership, so I did. The front desk guy that goes by ** was very understanding and even tried to offer some alternatives for face masks but ** had managed to ruffle my feathers enough to make me decide that planet fitness did not deserve a such a great paying customer such as yours truly. I mean you never know who you are talking to, I am not your average Joe.

    Anywho, after ** handed me a copy of my canceled membership I went to double check on ** name and she asked me "Why, what is your problem"? And I told her because I wanted to know who I was about to file a complaint on. She then said "If you have a problem you can cancel your membership and there is the door." I responded with "I'm way ahead of you, I just did" and I told her that she needed to work on her customer service skills. She then responded saying "in what way"? And I told her to be more professional and courteous. And she said "if you don't like it there's the door" which then made my emotions run wild and I stormed out of planet fitness.

    It's sad because I really enjoyed this place, and if it wasn't for her rudeness and unprofessionalism I would have stayed. I am very big on customer service! Treat others the way you would like to be treated. If I was an undercover boss I would have fired her on the spot. My suggestion for planet fitness is to terminate ** from this assistant management position, because believe it or not, it is employees like this that make places like this lose money and valuable customers. Customer service does matter!

    PF Fraudulently saved a credit card information when purchasing a beverage years ago, and saved in their database without my consent nor knowledge. As you know, PF only accepts routing number/account number for membership fees on Autopay. Cancelled membership July 30, 2020. Returned August 16 to verify this was done. Requested deletion of all personal and financial information from PF database. Assured this was done by Alan. Initially froze, but immediately returned to desk to do a FULL cancel/delete all data. Membership was fraudulently renewed without my knowledge and used a credit card they saved in their database without my consent nor knowledge.

    After cancelling July 30, 2020 PF renewed my membership using the original agreement and altering the information saying it was a requested renewal. This is fraud. This was in November 11, 2020, and charged as if a NEW member the $39.99 fee plus monthly fee, total of $52.22. Then, again charged my CREDIT CARD, for the next 3 months before I noticed the fraudulent use of my credit card I had no idea PF had stolen the information and saved it permanently in their database. They do NOT accept CREDIT CARDs as payment for fees, and PF retrieved an old beverage purchase to do this.

    Contacted CC company and uploaded all documentation and all fees charged were reversed to my account; and, was told that they have been having difficulty nationwide with such PF activity. My advice is, DO NOT allow them to have your routing number nor use a credit card to purchase anything at PF, as they will save all this information in their database; and, anyone working there can fraudulently use the information as they please.

    The staff is unprofessional and the manager, Mr. John ** is rude and nasty. I cancelled my membership in May 2020, but he continued to take money from my account without my knowledge. When I found out about it, I called Mr. ** several times and left at least a dozen messages, but he never returned my calls. Corporate is absolutely no help when I called to complain and kept sending me back to the same manager who would not answer the phone calls. They are thieves and crooks. This is the worst place ever!

    I was involved in a car accident causing me to be permanently disabled. I called Planet Fitness early 2020 requesting cancellation, only to be told that I had to come in person to cancel. I explained to the lady that I was disabled and can't walk to come in person. I ask to have the manager call me to discuss, never received a call back from the manager or anyone else from that facility. I made several calls throughout 2020 requesting the same, with no luck. At times staff was very nasty over the phone.

    Being disabled, causes you to lose your job and limits your income to social security income which would barely make end meets, yet Planet Fitness would continuously collect $23.53 every month throughout 2020. Yesterday Jan 18th 2020, I was finally able to get to their location so I can cancel my account, met with the manager who seemed to be young and inexperienced due to her behavior while waiting on me. She would look around her while I was trying to explain to her what has taken place, kept on repeating my self so she can understand me. My wife that was present was appalled by this manager's behavior. Manager insisted on no refunds in spite of the fact I have phone records showing the amount of times I called attempting to cancel my membership due to my disability. Then I requested to cancel my membership.

    Membership was canceled and I received a confirming email on Jan 18, 2021. Jan 19, 2021, I received a text from my bank showing Planet Fitness charged me yet for another month of $23.53. I called and asked for the manager, after several refusal by her staff member to connect me with a manager, someone took the phone and answered in a nasty voice "this is the manager, what can I do for you", I asked her what was her name, she replied "Shauna", then I asked her why is she so angry and having a nasty attitude. She put the phone down then another lady picked up the phone and asked once again, “what can I do for you?” I explained to her what happened with the billing issue in spite of the fact I came in and canceled my account yesterday Jan 18. She replied stating my billing cycle was on the 17th, and I canceled on the 18th, therefore I will be charged for the services.

    I asked her do they bill in advance or for previous month. She said for the previous month. I mentioned to her that she was wrong, when I joint during 2017, they billed me for the month in advance, so that clearly shows that you bill in advance. She replied because you were prorated for the days of the month. First she claimed customer are billed for previous months, then they are prorated for the days of the month when joining. It is obvious this young woman lacked knowledge in many areas, Lacking experience in performing her duties, not knowing how their billing system works, and certainly lacking basic human relation principal’s process. Her tone of voice alone explains it all.

    This outfit will do whatever they can to charge their customers for service that is no longer wanted or needed by customers. Thieves is the word that would come into my mind. I will not stop until I get refund and an apology from this nasty witch that treats a disabled person the way she did. Additional complaints will be files with the state department, consumer’s affairs, and Attorney general's office among other agencies.

    I would like to be reimbursed the $68.06 in fees I was charged. I was not made aware that the gym was reopening. My local Planet Fitness in Morris Plains, NJ claims I was sent an email notification but I cannot locate it (I checked junk mail as well. The last communication I received was on 4/13/20 entitled "A message from Fitness Planet CEO Chris Rondeau" and it had nothing to do with reopening.) I would have cancelled my membership if I had known because I cannot take a risk with COVID as my son and I live with my parents who are senior citizens who have pre-existing conditions.

    My local gym could not provide evidence that I had been notified about the gym’s reopening. The gym manager Chris replied, "There is no proof that we can provide showing we sent you an email. The email that came from corporate used the same email we have on file, so you should have gotten the email." I requested the contact info from Chris for corporate several times over email but I was ignored. When I called to request it, I was told by the Assistant Manager that “we can’t give out that information.”

    So my next attempt was to go into the gym in person. I spoke to Chris and asked who makes these decisions and he told me the Regional Manager. I asked to speak to him and again, I was told I cannot have his contact info. It has been weeks and I have followed up several times but the Regional Manager has not called me back.

    Lastly, the Morris Plains location told me I could contact corporate through the planet fitness website and when I did that I received an email saying I “If you have questions about billing or a charge on your account, and are looking for a refund, please contact the staff or management at your home club location.” Same is true of the Facebook page. But the Morris Plains location has ignored me, refused to call me back and refused to share information.

    I feel this is the wrong way to treat people and that Planet Fitness is not doing the right thing during COVID. Just starting to charge me without giving me a chance to make a decision about my membership during a time when people are dying due to a pandemic that easily spreads person to person in a place where people share equipment is just wrong. (They will reply probably reply with their standard response about how they’re handling covid instead of answering my specific refund request). This New Year’s Eve, I watched the Times Square Ball Drop and saw Planet Fitness was the main sponsor which is an investment of millions of dollars. I just want my $68 back that is rightfully mine.

    Planet Fitness stopped charging for my son's membership when the Covid virus hit and communicated almost weekly during the virus. I called and canceled because my son was not going to be using membership because he was going away for school. They agreed and the emails stopped so I thought everything was taken care of.

    Now I find that they ignored my instructions and have been charging me since September. I called them up and they denied receiving my instructions and told me the membership could not be canceled unless I went to their office personally and until then they would keep charging me. This place deliberately took advantage of the virus and ripped me off just because they had my credit card number. Their word on the phone meant nothing. Be careful doing business with a company like this.

    I noticed a half a month charge on my bank statement. Before I could make it to the location there was another $39 annual fee. I canceled on Saturday. Have paperwork by Monday. I get charged again. The manager had the nerve to tell me she will give me a month free...the month they just charged me for. I had no notification that they had reopened, they claimed to have sent out emails...my first email for the year was a copy of my cancellation form. Can’t wait for a Class Action Lawsuit.

    Planet Fitness closed my gym yesterday for a month but they still charged me membership dues on the same day it was closed. Knowingly charging someone for service they cannot access is fraud. Planet Fitness did not provide a notification that the facility would be closed, so I found out by going to the gym in 13 degree weather to see a note on the door.

    I joined the Pinole California facility in March 2019. I signed up for the higher-priced membership with a no annual fee set up. In less than 30 days I realized I was never going to utilize all the other equipment that I was paying for so I asked to switch it to the lower cost subscription. I was told that would be canceling and I’d be charged $58. I said I am not canceling. I am just changing which program I want. They said there was nothing I could do about it. I would have to wait till my membership was up and sign up again.

    So in February I called to ask when was the end of my subscription and they said April. Since I didn’t have the contract in front of me, I could not dispute that date. In March they were closed down. I tried to call and there was not even a voicemail to leave a message on. I then went to the Internet and did a search on Planet Fitness and found all these negative customer complaints about trying to cancel. So I noticed corporate replied to several of them and told them to contact them up the following email address which I used to tell them that I tried to reach Pinole by phone and by email and they said there was nothing they could do. They recommended sending a certified letter to cancel because you could not or they would not accept a fax or an email. This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard of! During a pandemic I had to go to the post office and stand in line to get a certified receipt done and had to pay almost 8 dollars for it.

    For all of you folks that think you didn’t have any leverage, you just call your bank and dispute the charges and tell them that you canceled and they are continuing to charge your bank account. If they’re not helpful, Chase bank is very helpful in this aspect. Then close your checking account and open up a new one and then there’s nothing they can do about it.

    I had a medical issue in 2016 so I couldn't come use my membership. I remember them trying to take the payment. That's when I called and the person I spoke with said that they can cancel my until I was back on my feet. Apparently that never happened! Now they are telling me they had to cancel my new membership because I owe 500 dollars?! I'm not paying that because they told me they don't see it in the system.

    I remember laying in the hospital bed calling them to completely end the membership because I wasn't working nor had money. I'm very upset because I like Planet Fitness but 500 dollars is a bogus and ridiculous price to tell me to pay before I come back when I know I called and canceled. Then it's no number to call to get an understanding. I'm confused on how 500 dollars came about. Sorry to say but they just lost two more customers this, and I will be telling others as well. This is not good. The only way people can sign up with planet fitness is by giving them access to our bank accounts. I will not return.

    Had my membership on hold when the Cartersville location charged me for membership causing a NSF charge. No one contacted me about the membership being activated. This is the second time that this has happened. I tried calling corporate and they said call local who said nothing can be done. No customer service.     Been a member for 2 years and the cheap price was attractive at first. Although their motto was "No Critics" – this Planet Fitness would constantly post negative things about folks who took fitness seriously calling them “Lunks” and other derogatory names - which is critical in itself! After the covid lockdown here in PA, the governor has a mask order in place which I complied with. In Section 3 the covid mask order it states: If you have a medical condition that prevents you from wearing a mask, then you are exempt. I brought a copy of Governor Wolf’s order to Planet Fitness was it was rejected which seems like a violation of the Americans With Disability’s Act!

    Many military veterans return from the Middle East with Desert Storm Lung Disease or Silicosis from the sandy environment. I am one of those Veterans who spent time in the Middle East in the mid 90’s and have this medical condition. The owner of the Nazareth Planet Fitness kicked me out even after I explained the governor's order and my medical condition as well as my military service. This gym is discriminatory to US Military Veterans and I encourage every rational person to boycott this gym and put them out of business. PA Covid Order On Face Coverings: **.

    I took the membership a year ago and I specifically asked the gym to not auto renew my membership. However, They decided to just go ahead and auto renew anyways. Now to cancel the membership I am expected to either go back to the gym or send them a letter for cancellation. I don't live in the New Hartford New York anymore so go back to the town just to cancel my membership is out of question. During this Covid times. I am expected to go to post office, mail them a letter. Not sure why email wouldn't do the same job what posting a letter will. Extremely poor experience and also illegal to renew my membership when it is set to not auto-renew.

    I love going to Planet Fitness, it's a really nice gym to be at and workout at. I'm just really frustrated and disappointed with how the employees handle things and enforce rules. When I was at the gym today, I was working out minding my own business and keeping to myself. And sometimes I take masks breaks (which Planet Fitness actually recommends) when I get overheated after a workout. Before I pull my mask down I always make sure there is no one around me for my safety and the safety of others, it's a sign of respect. When I pulled my mask down below my nose for about 20 seconds, an employee comes out of nowhere and tells me to put it back over my nose. I didn't say anything and just put it back over my nose.

    I was in shock because I there was no one around me and I've taken masks breaks all the time when I'm at the gym. It's crazy to me how the employees are so quick to tell you about your mask but they don't enforce the dress code or really any of the other rules. I'm sick of seeing people walking around in sports bras and spandex. I have seen multiple people work out in jeans when you're not supposed to, I've seen PDA right in the gym, I've seen and heard men and women constantly moaning and groaning every time they lift weights. It's unbelievable to me how the employees walk around the gym every 20 minutes and they STILL don't call any of them out.

    Where to begin... I went from bankrupt Gold's where everything was broken to PF where everything is new. BUT, I had to make 3 trips to my car to get the information they needed to sign up. They bill my bank account directly and not my credit card - a MAJOR security concern. Third, on virtually all the tread mills there are problems with the audio. I have reported it 4 days out of the last 7 and no one listens. The usual response is "I can't do anything. I will report it. I'll let the manager know." Fifth, every time - I mean EVERY TIME - I have to open their useless app on my phone I have to agree to their terms of service. WTF???? Totally unnecessary.

    Disgusting way of doing business during covid 19. Impossible to cancel membership due to branch franchise closures, then they open and start charging assuming everyone is going to come back! Corp assistance was poor! Astoria NY branch charging me for annual renewal when I’m trying to cancel. Phone goes to voicemail that is full. Went to another location to cancel. No luck. Sent a good ole fashioned letter in the US mail in hopes of cancelling. CEO should step up the quality of customer service DURING A PANDEMIC. Never giving business to this garbage corporation again.     The MATERIAL Fitness Center at the Inverness FL location is awesome. The club manager is a Planet Fitness hiring mistake. Beware of her bait & switch tactics of baiting with a promotion flyer, then offering a contract absent of the promotion. She also baits customers with other bizarre legal claims that proved to be false. Her narcissistic personality disorder creates havoc for prospective members who actually read the contract. The regional manager had to intervene to stop the scorched-earth tactics of this deranged sociopath.

    I signed a one-year contract with Planet Fitness well over a year ago. My contract ended during the pandemic back in June. Keep in mind that they shut down all gyms in March 2020. But Planet Fitness started charging my bank account again September 2020 transactions totaling $62. I called to complain and I got no results. Please do not give these people your banking information especially if you're living on a budget during this pandemic.

    Before covid hit, I requested to cancel my membership and I spoke with the general manager, Chris at the location in Oceanside CA. He assured me my account would be cancelled and that I would not be charged, I even have a voicemail from 3/18/2020 confirming this. Last night I see a charge on my account and nobody can explain to me why. They keep asking me to come in, which I do not think I should have to considering I was already told by the manager I was cancelled. It is literally impossible to get real help and I just get told the same script over and over. Not happy and still no phone call back.

    I wish I could give 0 stars, first off they charge you even when the membership is frozen, they don't complete the process of freezing or cancelling the membership. I went in to cancel due to high risk for covid, they said fee is 58 dollars, bear in mind it's 58+tax! The next day they charge me for the following month as if I'm still a member and refuse to give my money back. I will never ever go there again and discourage absolutely every single friend of mine who might consider joining them. I'm getting a new card so these scammers can't charge me anymore.

    We had to cancel because our kids are in distance learning. An employee a month earlier promised if needed to cancel there would be no charge. When we finally did cancel they forced my wife to pay 3 months to cancel. I have asked for a refund but thus far have been denied.     I joined this gym July 2019. Charged annual fee right away and then 2 weeks later they ran a special for no annual fee. I asked for a credit for the fee I paid they referred me to "corporate" but when you go to corporate they tell you locations are individually owned. Speak to manager at your location. They would not credit me. So I continued to go even though at several times machines would be out of service or clearly not cleaned, I actually was watching staff "clean" machines while I was on a stairmaster. That was a disappointing site. But I actually wipe the equipment I use before and after I use the equipment, so I know it was clean for me and the person after me. Then covid hit. I stopped going to gym as they are the risker establishments to visit and I live with someone who is immune compromised. Then on 9/1/20 I was hit with a $39 annual fee.

    I did not realize this was automatic as they didn't hit me up with one on my anniversary date and then thought this is not an automatic renewal which was good since we are in a pandemic. So then I went down to cancel and ask about a refund. Was told the regional manager will contact me that day. It's a week later and still no call. So I call again and ask to speak to manager. Was told that manager in a meeting. I gave my name and number and told the person on the phone who was also the person I spoke to a week ago that took my phone #. "I expect to hear back today and I'm disputing charge on my credit card".

    Interestingly enough they called my landline not my cell phone # that I gave them to call. I think they were hoping to just leave a voicemail. I was advised that they cannot refund my annual fee. Corporate would not allow it. I told her that's not true. That Gyms are individual owned and it could be done. It's on the corporate website. The manager had an attitude at this point and said They would not give a refund. So basically no concessions made during a pandemic or any other time. I just think during a pandemic at least a notice of when you're up for a renewal should have gone out to members since a large population are not going to the gym. They inundate with emails on advertising the gym. Lesson learned and will stick to true local gyms not chains where customer service is valued.

    This gym discriminated against us and mistreated us. They allowed their trainer to mistreat us and discriminate against us and then banned us from the gym and made us cancel our membership when we spoke out about it. We should not have to tolerate such ill-treatment by their employee. The regional manager never did anything about it either. Even the previous manager Carlye told us that she was discriminated by the same trainer because she is a lesbian, we as a gay married couple in our 50's went to this gym since they opened for over five years, until we were targeted by this trainer who worked there a short time and discriminated us and then the manager banned us and made us cancel our membership. They took the side of the manipulative trainer. I would not recommend this gym.

    They do not train their employees well in how to treat people and allow them to discriminate against their what they suspect are gay couples. The management here showed no education or consideration for our history and allowed this discrimination. The regional manager also did nothing about the problem. This gym never apologized or took action to support their customers. We would never do another positive review of this gym after how we were discriminated against and mistreated. This gym's management, and upper management should be ashamed of themselves for how they never handled this problem or addressed our concerns. We were surprised that such a big nationwide company would allow this to happen at one of their clubs. We are still waiting after a year for them to take action and apologize and give us our memberships back.

    I signed up for a membership on 2/25/2020 at Williamsville, NY location. COVID hit around 3/17/2020. Gym closed until 8/28/2020. I emailed the location to cancel. They said to send a certified letter, which was received on 8/29. 9/2 received a call that I will be charged a $58 "buyout" fee as I want to cancel. I explained that I only had the membership 3 weeks and not fair. I also was charged $15/94 on 3/18 which I won't get back. So I paid $23.09 when I signed up on 2/25 which I'm ok with but then another $73.94 for a gym I could use. I will never sign up with them again. Club is too busy during peak times and I do not want to work out at 8:00 at night.

    I took my daughter to get a short term membership for the summer to be able to do her workouts for her college sport before returning to campus in the fall. We asked the sales associate if it was possible to avoid the $39.00 annual fee if my daughter would only be using the membership for June and July (2020). We were told yes, as long as we cancelled by August 8th, 2020. On August 1st, 2020, my account was debited 39.00 for the annual fee. We went into the location on Robious Road in Chesterfield County, VA where I purchased the membership and was told the individual who sold us the membership no longer worked there and that she had told us the wrong date.

    I explained had I been given the correct information about the fee we would have said "thanks but no thanks" and left. They said they had to get approval from some regional person. After not hearing back the next day I called back. I was told they had not been given an answer on whether I would get a refund. Three more days passed without word. I called back on August 7 and was told the "supervisor" would not authorize the refund. I can assure Planet Fitness that is the last money they will ever get out of me.

    I’ve been using Planet Fitness since mid 2018, now that the pandemic hit, I went into my bank account and realized that have been billing me for all this time, and I have not gone to the gym for the this whole year, at all; so I called my branch and asked if it was possible to get a refund at least for the months of the pandemic and the annual fee which the person who attended me said she could not do since my account had been active the whole time. I tried calling in to cancel my account, but of course, they’re closed. We’re all going through a life changing pandemic, and I really can’t process how planet fitness can understand that and be more flexible about it. I’m very disappointed on this branch and hope we don’t have to cross paths again.

    My account was cancelled in November 2019 and it is now August 2020. They were sent 4 emails of cancellation since my membership was over. To this day they continue to charge my account yearly fees and monthly I have also spoken to the company five times and they still are charging me. The last time before manager the next day they decided to double charge me after my monthly payment was the week before. This last phone call With the general manager Scott he said no way he would refund Any money whatsoever. Also can not log back into account to change the payment method so now they can continue charging me. 10 months of unauthorized charging.

    What a scam. They take your payment info, will not let you use account, then continue to charge you. I guess maybe that’s their scam to stay in business. By the way only used club twice in the one year contract that ended in November 2019. So there is no way of stopping them to do this forever. Horrible scam of a company. Very scary.

    Bad Bad Bad experience. Please, I beg you: spend your hard earned money somewhere else. The company claims to have cheap fees but I continue to be charged and I even had to pay $40 for a annual fee in the middle of Covid crisis. I tried to contact them SEVERAL times via phone, I sent them a letter trying to cancel my membership and they simply respond to that with one sentence: We haven't received it. They will do whatever it takes to take your money. Scammers!!

    I spoke with one assistant manager on the Orlando Club called Jose and with a district manager for franchises called Mauricio **. Both of them refused to refund the annual fee. The district manager ONLY believes his manager and told us that we have never sent the letter requesting cancellation. He ONLY believes his manager and told us that we have never called the club trying to speak with the manager. The WORST customer service EVER!!!!

    I called Planet Fitness (Polaris location) to freeze my account due to the COVID situation. I work with children and cannot risk to be exposed to the virus. I was told to cancel my account or get a doctor's note. I suggested to bring a note from my employer specifying my daily involvement with kids, but I was refused. We (customers) are asked to be understanding and patient with the current situation and the impact on businesses, but it is not the same the other way around! Support each other.... Sad and disappointed.

    Update: Today, my bank account was charged $41.93 for an yearly fee to a membership that I did not get the chance to use it due to the COVID situation. This is so wrong!!! Per website, PF supposed to let customers know through email if their billing changed. I did not get any kind of communication. My support for this business just stopped ...

    After initial virus 'Panic" was over and Planet Fitness opened back up, there was no Face Mask Requirement at my location. Everyone showed respect by wiping equipment down before and after use. Today, 8/2/2020 Planet Fitness decided mask are required "walking from machine to machine". Meaning you can take it off while at a machine, but you must put it on to walk to the next. Madness and Idiotic. All Machines are like 5-6' apart. If I am in the 30 minute work out area, I have to put a mask on to take 2 steps? Utterly insane.

    You Idiots, people continuously touching their faces putting a sweaty mask on and taking off then touching equipment is much worse than not wearing a mask at all. Besides HEALTHY People go to the gym. Needless to say, I canceled the Communists Subscription on the spot. YOU implemented Communist Rules Planet Fitness, Please do NOT charge me extra to cancel for something I did NOT sign up for.

    I am furious with this girl I spoke to today by the name of Rebecca who stated she was a general manager there. I repeatedly went in and cancelled with a girl friend and they kept charging my bank acct and credit card. I was told prior from another girl and even apologized to that they would take the charges off. Mind you I quit over 3 months ago and still being charged. They were rude and said they would speak to the other girl Jasmine who was nice to offer to take the charges off however I got broom helda today on the phone that was like go to your bank and do it.

    She admitted she had the authority to take off the charges but was just finding it funner to make it a difficult time for me today. Not today Satan Not Today! I say Beware of this company to continue to charge you even after you quit them. Look at the reviews. They speak for themselves. BEWARE I recommend that you change all your credit card numbers after you quit. To prevent you a headache. But the real frustration is that they know you are ripped off and not willing to fix it!

    Everything was good until the pandemic, COVID-19 has stopped me from going to the gym. I am not putting myself at risk by going to the gym. This is my 3rd attempt at canceling my account. I am not going in to cancel. Life has changed and they are adamant on making people come in to the gym to cancel their memberships. I didn’t even know that the location was open again. I was charged the yearly annual membership and then a few days later the monthly fee. They will not stop billing me. Do not sign up! Getting out of their contract is frustrating.     I already told what has happen. At the service counter the (hope the youngest) ** girl, I told I have been overcharge annual 39 and 22 monthly. I told her that is too much and I need to cancelled it. She said ok she can give the refund on both, then I gave my black membership card and canceled everything. Then I ask for a receipt or any paperwork, she said they do not give any document and do not worry about it I will get the refund after that stop coming.

    At that time you issue membership for free or 10 dollar and you charge me 39 that's why I got mad. Then the pandemic came, you were close and I wrote on your website few times asking about my refund, nothing has happen, you never reply. When I called few days ago somebody transfer to you and you answer the phone and said about your policies, you keep your policies to you. I do not care that **.

    Now you and that girl what have told me was contradict and penalized by me on robbing my hard earning money giving bogus information. Now I need the justice since you have done the mistake, that is refund my money or extend my facility on nominal charges with out charging high amounts becouse I am willing to use the service. What happen was you are misguide me and robbed my hard earning money.

    Everything would be Ok IF!!!! GM is absolutely disrespectful, nasty, flawed person! He hates ** people and Females!!!! In a black card spa all equipment very shabby. Hydro massage - just one bed. Number 6 working properly, all other mattress is bad, baggy, or not enough presser or stop working for some moments at all - just garbage!!!! I have black card member and when I asked for hydromassage bed number 6, gm refuse to let me use it and offer bed number 7 ( baggy mattress, bad presser). When I said: "NO!!! I want just number 6." He start intimidating me to cancel my membership :-O speachless!!!! Better would check restrooms! It's stinky, dirty, toilets NEVER washed!!!! All atmosphere in this gym is not pleasant.

    Work out at home for free if you are really serious about working out. You don’t need a gym yet. Everyone is freaking out about discrimination when it applies to only them. Planet Fitness bases their whole ad campaign against muscular guys who like intense workouts. They have a “lunk” alarm for someone who is working out too hard. That’s discrimination. You get to humiliate a guy in the middle of his workout in front of EVERYONE because he’s doing better? I’m surprised they haven’t been sued. It’s no different than saying overweight people who cry too loud aren’t welcome at this gym.

    To be clear, I am not a muscular man, and this didn’t happen to me, but the CSR who was showing me around made it very uncomfortably clear that it would happen if I sounded like I was working out too vigorously. WTF? Also, don’t ask about locker room amenities, or they will cock their head and give you the “are you a **?” smirk. I swear on my life this happened to me. That’s why I walked out, extremely offended and confused. It was 20 years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday. Unfortunately I do not have photos or a receipt, because I left before I signed up. This isn’t just my own personal experience. Watch their tv ads. They are proud of being exclusive.

    The sign on the door says they close at 7:00 pm. On 07/11/20 some extremely rude associate ran everyone out at 6:00 pm. This is the Orange, Texas gym. A week earlier myself and several others showed up before 6:00 pm only to find that, despite the sign saying they were open until 7:00, the gym was already closed. Apparently they have had several cases of covid 19 among their employees and are short-handed. It is not surprising considering that the place is not cleaned as often as it should be. But with so many people out of work it is hard to believe they could not find temporary help.

    I been a member since 2015. And had no problem until now that they have opened. And instead of the manager trying to fix it, he wants to be rude and lie. When I ask to speak to someone higher, I get told that there isn't anyone else to help. What kind of business is that?     I like go. But now I am in a wheelchair. The front doors are not designed for a wheelchair. Needs electric doors for the handicap person in a wheelchair. It is hard for me to open the door while try to maneuver the wheelchair. The door is heavy and hard to push.

    I overheard the manager at the Albertville Alabama location using racist slurs toward some of the ** members that were there working out. He also raised his voice to me and my mother when there was a mistake over a tanning bed. Something that didn’t have to go to extreme levels but he proceeded to leaned forward over the counter to get into my mother's face. He is racist toward the ** members and sexist toward the female women that go to the gym! It’s horrible and I hate to even post a review like this because very rarely do I ever complain!     Planet Fitness Downtown Silver Spring, MD:

    1) They should reopen by end of week however, when I asked how the gym will comply with the "limited capacity", I got the following response: "when the club will reach max capacity, members will LINE-UP OUTSIDE". Well, this won't work for the disabled senior that I am, and since my membership is paid by KAISER, I will told them to CANCEL my membership. No need to pay for something I can't use.

    2) Not surprisingly, after reading other reviews, the Silver Spring too has music issues: The speakers are located right above the treadmills and the music way too loud and stressful. It depends on the staffer on duty at the front desk, since there is NO speaker in the reception area, he/she is NOT bothered by the loud music, but members sure are.

    3) That location has a damaged pipes problem right over the treadmills. When I received stuff falling from the ceiling, on my head one day, I asked the manager on duty, if it could be asbestos. His response: "The building, NOT us, is responsible for the repairs". I took a photo: How safe are those pipes hanging over the member's head?

    I was charged in March and 4 days later they closed due to virus. Due to lack of hours for seniors, I cancelled on 06/12/2020. I was charged for the month of June also when the due date was the 15th! They are taking advantage of everyone since they still do not keep the equipment sanitary! Charging people for a contract that they are not holding to is equivalent to price gouging your customers!

    This gym is very economical and includes a lot of equipment for various type of workouts. Lots of tvs and music help with good distractions. TVs are limited to 8 channels that cannot be changed, meaning you may miss your hometown football team on a given week. They are very well run and they are kept very clean, especially given the high traffic in peak hours. They also carry some products such as earbuds if you forget yours or damage them, as well as drinks, locks, clothing etc. Best part is, if you have a black card, you can bring a friend for free or get a massage.

    The many times that I visited this gym I found it to have the machines that I needed to use. The treadmills were plenty. As were the stationary bicycles. As far as the weight machines go, they had a variety of them aimed at working out different parts of the body. For the most part the machines were clean as they advise that after using the equipment, you wipe them down with the sanitizing spray and paper towels that they provide and have set up throughout the facility. I’ve visited two (2) of their gyms frequently and found this to be consistent in both places. They provide assistance as well if you need it. They provide different exercising programs as well. Lockers and showers are available to use as well. I feel that this gym is worth the money.

    Joined just a couple of months ago. Unfortunately, they like all gyms are now closed. People are friendly and helpful as needed. They have ample disinfectant bottles to wipe down the equipment after use. The one I used before shut down offers my favorite Tootsie Rolls. Will be glad when they can reopen.

    Planet Fitness is very accessible and has great hours (well, not now since they are closed due to COVID-19). It's not like the YMCA where there is a family like environment. Planet Fitness needs to make the environmental friendlier. I prefer a gym that is more team oriented. And I wish the provided barre classes and yoga classes for experienced yogis.

    I've been a member of most gyms during my lifetime, but by far Planet Fitness has been the best (for me). The equipment is good, staff is friendly, prices are great (especially if they have a sale going on) and every planet fitness I've been in has been extremely clean - something some of the "big names" in the past I've belonged to wouldn't be able to say. I currently live in an area that doesn't have any gyms within 25 miles from me so I've picked up my own home gym - really isn't the same though.

    There is multiple locations, if you have the Black Card you can enjoy all of the amenities in any Planet Fitness and not just your home gym. The equipment is in great condition. The only thing I wished they offered was a sauna. Besides that it's a great place to workout at.

    Depends on how new a site is. Most keep the idiot proof machines with instructions on them in great conditions. The classes are just a few basics. Lots macho weight lifters. Some locations security issues. I dont think tanning and UV light belong with fitness. But the price is right so it's worth a tryout.

    There are enough cardio machines such as ellipticals, treadmills, and bikes. They should consider adding more stair stepper machines, as the few they do have always seem to be in use. There are not many duplicates for weight machines and people are often waiting on others. I don't enjoy that they use spray bottles and paper towels for sanitizing, they should have reusable rags instead because they are more efficient at wiping down machines and more environment friendly. Also, there is no track or scale on site.

    I am at an advanced age so I asked pacifically if they gave good demonstrations and instructions on use of the machines. My introduction to the machines was a girl pointing to each machine & giving me its name. She did demonstrate the use of her favorite one. Not once was I offered a invitation to use one. Some rooms were pointed out and she told me what they were. I was given a leaflet telling me I could make an appointment with a trainer for more detailed instruction; at 6 o'clock on some mornings. Now in the midst of COvid 19 pandemic they are still billing my bank account for membership to a closed gym & I am resigning my membership.

    Would like to see more flexibility with the hours of their personal trainer And more staff to be able to show you how to use the equipment. They usually have two people standing behind the desk doing nothing. You can’t answer your questions about any of the equipment. They are just there to make sure you scan your membership barcode and to sign people in for the tanning beds.

    Going to our gym is great because I know how to keep myself in shape and not rely on other people to show me how to do things. The gym is geared towards helping people who aren’t sure of themselves when they go to work out and I don’t have that issue. It’s a great place to workout so I use it to the best of my abilities.

    The staff is very friendly and helpful. The one I go to is really clean and there are always machines available. I really like the fact that you don't have to wait to use any of the machines. I like that there are a lot of different type of machines.

    Place is always clean and well-maintained. Staff are courteous and helpful. However, they need to do a better job of dealing with the jerks who lounge on the machines for 5 minutes playing with their phones!

    The price each month sounds good, but people need to look at the big picture. They are made to sign a year contract. The average person will work out for 2 months and stop going. Therefore they are paying this gym $100 a year for absolutely nothing. This gym gets their cash by taking advantage of people and it is not right.

    Can get really packed at times makes it very hard to work out efficiently, some machines aren't working properly and haven't been fixed for month, audio system's volume is way too low. But pretty clean, staff is very friendly and helpful, plenty of parking.

    I love my local PF Center. Very friendly staff and great customer service. I feel very much at home here. Unfortunately the coronavirus pandemic has everything closed for now. Looking forward to getting back.

    I've used this gym for years to keep fit. There isn't anything super spectacular about it, but that's why I like it -- it's not pretentious. There's plenty of cardio equipment and two free-weight areas you can chose from. They provide plenty for the price I pay ($20). This includes tanning beds, water-massage bed and access to ANY other Plant Fitness. Since I travel lots, it's totally worth it.

    It's a great place to work out because they have weight trainers to help with things you want or need. I like the treadmill. I just imagined that I'm walking in the woods. Just loving nature and sometimes I just watch TV.

    I really enjoyed the Planet Fitness better than any of the other gyms. I like how it's set up with different rooms off to the sides. I like that is very clean. The staff is there to help you at any time, very friendly. The equipment is spotless, clean and I really like the chairs that you lay in that give you the massages with the water. That was the main reason that I joined. I suffer and chronic pain and I knew what the exercise and the massage of that chair I'd be a good shape. The only thing I didn't like was that there's not very many of them. I had to drive almost a half hour to get there. And it just was not conducive for a quick workout.

    Great gym for people who travel because you can find a Planet Fitness anywhere! The Black Card allows you to use any planet fitness and bring a guest for free. The gym is equipped with a lot of cardio equipment and weight machines but does not have free weight equipment.

    Love this place. My wife joined and brings me there as well. It’s always very clean. Which is important this day and age. Everyone wipes down the equipment after use. They have trainers that will help you learn each piece of equipment and how to use it to get what you are trying to do for your body results. They're always open for when I can get there on my schedule. You can’t ask for anything better. By the way it’s time for me to get there and work out. Thank you planet fitness. See you soon.     Planet Fitness in Clifton Heights is great. Staff is always friendly and helpful. The equipment is good and plentiful. The gym can accommodate a lot of people and not feel crowded. Recent renovation was unnecessary and didn't improve overall experience which was already good.
