I was a member 6 months ago every time I walked in the workers were on their cellphones behind the desk doing videos and texting, some very rude, A lady name Charlene (who works there) was always cleaning and helping others out, I would always have to ask her for assistance because the others were playing and on their phones, manager let's this go on and doesn't do anything about it... Poor customer service. I will not be going back.

I stopped in two franchises just south of Atlanta which are owned by the same franchisee. Planet Fitness Corporate has now amended their Black Card Contract to where individuals who travel cannot attend a franchise for more than 10 days in a 30-day period. If you do attend a franchise location more than 10 days in a 30-day period there is now a charge against your account which they have on file. I do not recall being given constructive notice of this drastic policy change. I am getting a lawyer to file a class action lawsuit. Good Luck Planet Fitness Corporate.

Great experience with Courtney. I am a new member of PF and I must say I am also a novice to fitness. This morning I’ve decided to go to the Davie, Florida PF gym to start my fitness journey, and as soon as I walked in I was greeted by Courtney, one of the personal trainers, she immediately took me under her wing and gave me a complete orientation of the gym. She went over every piece of equipment in the gym with me and made sure I felt comfortable using them. She answered all my concerns and questions promptly.
Courtney is very personable, patient, reliable, respectful, cheerful, loves what she does and does it wholeheartedly. I really didn't know what to expect when I arrived, but meeting Courtney made a big impression on me and her positive and enthusiastic attitude will encourage me even more to continue with my journey. Courtney, keep being positive, you really impact me. I will recommend Courtney as a personal trainer to anyone and everyone I know again and again.

I decided to get healthy and go to the gym. There was so. Much advertisement and all the different classes, extras, etc.so I joined. I've never been to a gym of this size, but that's all it was. Size. All employees stayed behind counter and not helpful so I left. I've been looking how to cancel on their app and you CAN'T. After 6 weeks they charge you 49.99 annual fee. I went down there and canceled but because I didn't cancel before the 10th, they'll still charge me on the 17th. They just want your money and cannot find a number to corporate.. Another way to SCAM people's money.

I cancelled my membership earlier this year because Planet Fitness allows men, claiming to be trans, in the women's locker room. Deviant males frequently take advantage of this dangerous Planet Fitness policy. In one instance, a young girl was changing her clothes when a man entered the locker room and began shaving his beard. An adult woman took a photo of the man and showed it to the staff when she complained. Planet Fitness cancelled her membership. In July of 2024 Planet Fitness hired a new CEO who is more progressive and woke than the outgoing CEO.

I joined the Planet Fitness on Main Street in Security Widefield strictly to use the Hydro chair and the massage chair because I have two herniated discs and it worked wonders for me. The Hydro chair has been out of service for almost 3 weeks now. They said they’re having a hard time getting maintenance there. They would not compensate me with any type of one or two months free membership, I have not been contacted by any management there. I’ve left several notes but the manager there, his name is Don, has not yet contacted me so I’ve had no choice but they canceled my membership. I would not recommend this place if you’re looking for quality customer service.

After working out at this facility for months and bringing my gym bag with me on the floor that has my workout gloves, workout notebook, my barbell pad for squats and hip thrusts, water bottle, medication, phone, headphones, my own resistant, bands, and my own ankle straps for the cable machines - I was told that I was not allowed to have my gym bag on the floor with me because "things were walking off", I was in a room full of probably 30 other people working out. I counted at least eight MEN who had backpacks and gym backs with them, and the employee never approached them never spoke to them. He walked back through, and there were more men on the floor with bags that he never said anything to.
I called to complain to management and the SAME employee who answered the phone was the SAME ONE who told me I couldn’t have my bag on the floor. BEFORE he would let me speak to a manager asked me. “Is this about the bag thing that I talked to you about this morning?” What kind of professionalism is this? Who is training these people? Not to mention when I was on the phone I could hear him in the background (maybe I was on speaker phone?) yelling about how it’s the online policy. Just horrible membership interaction.

Front desk employees are rude. Don't even want to make eye contact. When I come in I always have to greet them first. And half the time they just ignore me as If I was not even standing there. The cleaning crew is great. I really don't like to go in there. But this is the closest gym to me.

Planet Fitness in Harrison is awesome. Enis is a great manager who isn't afraid of hard work. I have seen him many times lift up heavy machines and clean under them. This facility is amazingly clean. The staff works hard, are friendly and know me by name. Enis took the time to talk to me and tell me his story. What a great guy and a great staff! I could not ask for more!!!!!!

Planet Fitness has recently switched out Life Fitness treadmills for very cheap Matrix treadmills. If your main objective is just slow, easy walking, these new TMs will probably be okay, but if you're a runner or fast walker, STEER CLEAR! Extremely stiff board and belt with absolutely no shock absorption. Many people who have had to endure these new awful treadmills describe it like trying to run in sand. It was so bad that I literally thought I was sick or that something drastic was affecting my cardio and energy. Looked it up online, and discovered that, yes, it's the new super-cheap treadmills. We will have to start looking into switching to a better gym---the treadmills are THAT bad.

I went to my local facility to cancel membership. My lifestyle and commitments prevent me from taking advantage of even the Black card membership. I was told I am still in “commitment” and there would be a $60 but out to cancel. Never mind that I have held on to my membership over the years in hopes I could use it. Thru COVID I paid w/o using. So I figure this company has been given free money from me for several years. They advertise “no commitment” cancel any time. Not completely true. Buyer beware! Now the Federal Govt has taken action on companies and apps such as this. Won’t take effect until April 2025 but hey, THANK YOU CONSUMER PROTECTION. I used to love this company. Not anymore.

I have been working out every day at PF for the last 3 month. My fitness level has improved dramatically. But what I'm thankful for is the "no judge" policy. Everyone there is trying to better themselves. They should be commended and smiled at for all their hard work.

I am a member of the PF gym in Burlington NJ. The gym opened a couple years ago and far exceeds my expectations for fitness facility. The gym is SPOTLESS. The cleanest and most well kept gym I have EVER had the pleasure of being a part of. Over the past year, my wife and I have worked out at PF facilities in Atlanta, Charlotte, Orlando, and Miami and NONE of them are as well maintained as the facility in Burlington NJ. The manager of the facility, Jasmine, is outstanding. Attentive to the concerns and needs of the patrons and works with staff exceeding well in directing duties and assignments. As a former operations director of a 700 bed hospital, I am extremely impressed by her demonstrated leadership. It’s refreshing. Hats off to the Best Planet Fitness facility in the country, located 2200 Mt Holly Road in Burlington, NJ.

Location - E Broad St., Statesville, NC Had to rate 1 star to post review. On October 20, 2024, I received an email to rate my cancellation. I thought this was possibly spam, since I did not cancel my membership, which I have had with PF for 7 years. I called the location and spoke to David, he pulled my account, adding that there were two people with my exact name, also showing it was canceled on October 18, 2024, at a different location, he could not read the signature on the system or identify the location. David also showed the ABC third-party billing did take our $20.05 payment out on October 17, 2024. He said he could not view more than that and to call back Monday and speak to Miranda **.
October 21, 2024, called Miranda and she said she isn't sure why canceled and will investigate and call me back. She mentioned that she doesn't have a code for $20.05 available and the current rate is around $30 dollars. After several hours, I called her back to check on her progress. She said she spoke to ABC third-party billing and that they would credit my October $20.05 and reinstate my membership for $29.35! I said absolutely not! I did NOT cancel, I did not sign, and this is fraud.
I asked for the franchise owner's name, and she said unable to give me that information and I can call ABC third-party and try to work something out. I told Miranda that my contract is with PF not ABC third-party. We went back and forth and then she said she could not help me and was hanging up. To date, I have not received a credit. PF started in 1992 and appeared to be a stable thriving business, customer friendly, offering reasonable rates, and appreciating longtime members. However, this is not the case.

If you're an ** or ** and you're visiting or maybe live in the Waycross Georgia area think twice before joining this location. I recently had an unpleasant encounter with the General Manager a young ** man with dreads. I'm not sure if he's instructed to treat ** members differently than everyone else but they was my personal experience. He seems to favor anyone who's not **. I was spoken to and treated like a vagrant from the street corner.

I canceled my membership a year ago - they never sent an email confirmation. I canceled a week ago. They never sent an email confirmation. They double charged me for months, actually over a year. They promised a refund and then they canceled the refund and did not send it. I had to block them from taking money out of my account. It cost me to do so. They refused to do anything to satisfy the ridiculous amount of money they stole from me. BURLINGTON NC - BEWARE! THE GENERAL MANAGER WAS THERE WHILE I WAS LODGING MY COMPLAINT AND DID NOTHING. I moved to Goodlettsville from Memphis. I gave them my new phone number and new bank card. It’s been about 10 weeks and both months they’ve continually charged my old obsolete bankcard which has cost me to incur $70 in overdraft fees and four times I’ve checked and they still haven’t updated my phone number. The old phone number hasn’t been functioning for over a year, I will update this if they decide to have some integrity and refund my $70 in overdraft fees. They demand to be able to access your bank account every month, but have such a crummy way of handling your card and won’t even delete your old card. It’s very odd.

We tried so many times to cancel the membership for my son, and every time I call, I get different instructions about cancellation. They told me to call 800 number many times and when we call they said it must be done in person. We went there so many times in person, they said it’s canceled, it was a lie again. I am so sick of this gym. No one knows what they doing. I will continue to give this place a bad reviews all because the reps there are awful. No customer service experience. Also, the machines are not controlled for everyone to use. So many times, one person uses 3 machines at time and people be waiting while the person have towels and holding 3 machines. Hello, other people are waiting, why can workers stop the nonsense? It’s a mess, not organized at all. Wake up workers. Do your job.

I spoke with their front desk about needing to go out of the country and he suggested we freeze the monthly dues. When I came back, I was surprised to learn my membership was canceled! And I was just charged my annual dues. Anyway, I explained this to the acting manager and she said she can waive the new annual dues, which I agreed. After a month, I was surprised to see another annual auto payment, just 7 months from when I last paid! I called up and the lady manager apologized saying they need to train their acting managers well.

I am disappointed by the way Planet Fitness handled a billing issue. I am enrolled in auto billing on my credit card which always has available credit, but somehow they must’ve had an issue with their processor and they claim that they could not charge my card. So, they just went about charging me a late fee of $25. I called this to their attention, but have not received a response from management. I recognize that mistakes can happen, but their lack of concern for correcting their mistakes is very disappointing. If management reads this, I would encourage you to resolve the billing issue for me immediately, so that I can edit my review accordingly. I have no other way of communicating with management. On a more positive note, I should mention that Manuel is very friendly and is a super responsible staff member who I am sure would have resolved the issue for me if he was present at the time. The Planet Fitness here in Missoula Montana is by far the most disgusting one I've ever been to. The same feces smeared on the same toilet a week later speaks volumes to how much the staff here doesn't care to clean. I'm about to cancel my membership. Also, a lot of broken towel hangers etc. They simply don't care about the gym or their customers.

I am not happy with Planet Fitness. I moved over an hour away and have not stepped foot in one in almost 8 yrs and they refuse to cancel my membership unless I go in or by certified mail. Excuse me I work 2 jobs and am a single mother. I barely have time to breathe. But they definitely don't mind taking your money.

The Planet Fitness in Bonney Lake WA is fantastic. The manager Kaya is amazing! Helpful, kind, and very knowledgeable. She showed us around and made us feel at home. There is a great selection of equipment. Bathrooms were clean.

Had cancel my membership. They entered my billing info incorrectly and charged me a $15 late charge every month for 5 months. When I called them on it they attempted to credit me 3 months. I placed numerous phone calls and was given false information repeatedly before 1 young lady entered my request for a refund. Unfortunately she even stated it was highly unlikely I would get my money back. If I don’t I promise you it’s going to cost them more than the $75 dollars.

The Manager of E, Capitol in Milwaukee is extremely unfriendly and unrealistic. She constantly threatens well-intentioned paying members. You will be denied entry for several ridiculous payment issues. Most of the other employees there are fine, realistic and friendly! Her people skills are horrendous!

Two month in a row they have charged me 15.00 penalty under the excuse they couldn’t process the payment on the day schedule even the account had enough money, the funny thing is the next day they are able to process the payment from the same account, just the 15$ details, that’s a scam, I can subscribe online but I need to go to the exact location I have subscribed to cancel, absurd.

I wanted to reach out to management on their employees Dallas and Maddox for a job well done. They are stellar employees who rack weights, clean, and keep bottles full for the cleanliness of the gym. Planet Fitness is a rip-off! Do not join this gym, especially Brookfield location. Jarred is the manager and he doesn't give a crap about paying customers. He lied and said he tried to contact me because PF kept charging me a $15 late fee. Make it make sense why am I being charged a late fee when the fee for gym membership gets automatically taken out? I have been a member for years and it has always been drama with PF. This is an unprofessional gym!! DON'T COME TO PF. GO TO A PROFESSIONAL GYM THAT CARES!

I have been a longtime customer of Planet Fitness since 2017. Originally signed up in Kennewick, Washington as my employer was close by. I then tried to switch my contract to the 5801 Summitview Ave Yakima, Washington and was told I needed to go in person to simply get this transferred. Since being a member, I have been charged fee on top of fee, I just paid my yearly fee, the app stated I was up to date and my balance was 0.
However, when I went to the Yakima gym on Summitview Ave, I was stopped by reception in front of other customers as soon as I walked in stating I owed $21. I was so disappointed and embarrassed. Let me just say I just got done paying my yearly and monthly fee. While at the gym I decided to downgrade my membership from a black card to a classic and was told I needed to pay another $49. This is absurd!. The amount of fees this gym charges is insane compared to other high end gyms. Total amount I paid was $75 to simply cancel my membership.. If I would have downgraded I would have paid $120.. A SCAM.. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

Today I was in Planet Fitness Mission Ave. Oceanside. There was a person videotaping in the men's locker room and I was in plain view. When brought to the attention of staff they seemed not to care. When I complained I was told to leave. I understand that this against policy except in Oceanside.

The PF in North Highlands is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! Full of young kids sitting on phone for at least half an hour on each machine doing only 3 sets. Brand new equipment and half is under repair. And never any paper towels, HORRIBLE!

Planet Fitness in Sterling Heights cleanliness has gone downhill. The gay manager Nick there see fit to hit on staff and customers. Not only that his micro aggression and micro managing approach makes people very uncomfortable. The staff there is as sorted as well from pricing to long haired tatted up. They scraped the bottom of the barrel for employees.

This review isn't about the club itself, it's about the manager. His name is Rob. He is very rude and not a nice person. This manager gave me attitude because I had to call the club to discuss my bill. I called earlier in the day and apparently their staff in the morning isn't trained to discuss your bill so I had to leave a message for someone to call me back. I waited 6 hours for someone to call me back. So I decided to call back since no one call me. Then Rob answered. He was very short with me which in turn upset me. He apparently didn't like that I was short with him and got an even bigger attitude. He asked to call me back, so now I have to wait until I may or may not get a call back.
When he called me back He was very short with me and extremely rude. When I bought my membership I went into the club and the gentleman that I talked to said they don't sign people up in the store and just go online. So I did. Then Rob insults me for going online to purchase the membership then tells me he thinks he should just cancel my membership. I in turn did say that is not an option. I really think Planet Fitness needs to examine who they have managing their gym.

I had to take the last club to small claims court to get them to return a year's worth of improper charges. I won and it money was returned but most people won't do this and the clubs know it. I believe that is why they want your account numbers. They don't want credit cards because those are easily disputed..Banks will not help to stop the improper withdrawals from your checking account. Members beware. Find a Honest Club.

False advertisement as far as 24/7 gym. Location in Goodlettsville TN makes up their own hours but still charges full rate. The maintenance on the gym equipment is subpar at best, and when they go down, don't get in hurry to fix.

Planet Fitness on Eastchester drive high point! I am a long time customer and a newly hired young manager named Cheyenne was very rude to me, and another member came up to me and said he heard the whole conversation and she had been rude to him earlier. So he was pissed also on her behavior! She should be fired!!!!

There needs to be rules as to how long a person can utilize a piece of equipment. I see at least 30% of people sitting and looking at their phones while sitting on the equipment. Also, there are some who wear flip-flops or go barefoot while lifting. If there is not going to be equipment added, then enforce rules. Some of us who are committed and limited on time needs equal time as opposed to those who are disrespectful. Will be switching to a new facility soon.

Their customer service is at minus level. I recently moved out of state and told to send in a written letter to cancel which I did. It was received 12th of this month. 19th I was charged the monthly fee. Call in to ask why. Got rude millennial that said, "I can get a manager to tell you the same thing I just said." Talked to manager who said I would have to speak to his sup on Monday.
Called today. Spoke with this woman who said the letter came in two days after billing and that is why I was billed but mind you there was a five day delay in the billing being taken from my account. So instead of saying oh yea I understand you are now out of state and physically impossible to use our facility for this month I can refund the month. Nope. Instead I was charged for a month that I can not even think about using the facility. So basically I paid their wages for a month with no benefit for myself. Scammy at best. Yes scammers Planet Fitness practices. This is how they treat customers. Customer service sucks rocks. I would not waste my time with these people. Spend the extra and be treated right, not taken advantage of just for the sake of.

Planet Fitness is a great place to workout. The employees are very friendly. Michelle at the front desk is very helpful and quick with a smile. Dey, floor maintenance makes sure the facility and the machines are always clean, all the trainers are very helpful and motivating. The gym doesn't get too crowded and machines are spaced from each other to not feel claustrophobic. I highly recommend them. Try them out!

BEWARE! They make it a nightmare to cancel. You can signup online, but can’t cancel online. Went in to sign cancellation form but they kept charging me. Called to inquire and they had no record of the contract and I was never given a copy, I asked and they said they would send one via email. That never happened…I had to get my bank involved because you can’t use a credit card as a payment option. The same thing happened with my neighbor and 2 coworkers. They know if you use a credit card, you can dispute the charge and then they couldn’t play this game. The $10 a month seems great, until you want to cancel.
The club itself is dirty and you can see layers of filth on the cardio equipment. Their idea of cleaning is walking around and wiping off the parts your hands touch. The cardio equipment is second hand and about 10-15 years old, it’s basically what real fitness clubs throw out. I’ve seen them throw out members for making too loud of sounds as they lift. I guess they don’t want anyone to push themselves. Majority of workers are on their cell phones, especially the front desk. Staff doesn’t walk around to remove weights from barbells or put anything up. I rejoined Xsport, this place would be great for a rec center or retirement home.

Ease of signing up..just fill out a form from the comfort of your home. Give them your credit card or your checking account number..Simply, oh yeah. Then, for whatever reason (broken bone, lost eye sight).. It does not matter.. You cannot go to the website where you signed up.. One must GO to the PF physical site, AND If you are lucky, maybe, They will LET YOU RESIGN, PUTTING IT IN WRITING, FILLING OUT A FORM AND SIGNING IT. Your alternate choice is to send a Written resignation by certified or registered mail.. Dont Forget! You may end up paying for an unwanted unused expensive bill!

My husband and I just moved to Florida and joined Planet Fitness, I have never heard of a company needing two payment methods to charge you once a month. With that being said planet fitness tried charging my checking account and for some reason they said it wasn't going through so they charged my credit card, the following month they charged me a 10.00 late fee. When I called my store they said there was no way of issuing me a refund, this is one shady company and I would never recommend them to anyone, horrible business practice.

I love Planet Fitness, great environment and customer service. However, they just changed their hours. I work in law enforcement and my hours changed all the time. I have to say that I am very disappointed. I will have to look for a 24 hour gym.

Planet Fitness withdraws money even after you cancel. When you call your home club, the manager says, "I have contacted the billing department for you but they are not getting back to us, I apologize." There is nothing else I can do but wait. I have also contacted the billing department twice and get no reply from them.

I have to say one of the reasons I keep coming back to the Hammond, Indiana PF is due to both Miriam and Marlén (I hope I’m spelling this right). I come in at least 3 x a week after my run to use the deep tissue massage chair. These ladies are always accommodating, have a smile on their faces and are all around friendly. They are usually on day shift and are always busy cleaning or working at desk but never seem annoyed or disinterested in being these. Koodles to both of these ladies and PF is lucky to have them working for the company!

They scammed me out of $400. I froze my account but it somehow kept billing me for over 2 years without ever using my membership. You'd think they would auto cancel if you never activate it but then again that's the cheap trash can of a company I signed up for. Don't use them. All they want is to fool people into wasting money.

Don't not give your bank info to Planet Fitness! They will overcharge on purpose to give you late fees even if auto draft is there. It's scam they use to make more money. I'm owed hundreds of dollars and don't try to speak with managers because you will be ignored. The gym itself is fine. But here’s the problem. They say they are judgement free and yet they define “a lunk” and a person that grunts, wears a weightlifting tank top, drinks water from a gallon jug and judges. Is that not a stereotype and judgement? PF uses this “judgement free zone” when it fits their narrative. No judgement is NO judgement. You don’t get to pick and choose whom you judge. I know plenty of men and women who fit the “the lunk” definition on the wall at PF and would never judge anyone. They are the most quiet good natured people that just live to lift. PF you are definition of a hypocritical company. You’re not judgement free, you judge with convenience and contempt.

I have been a member for about 8 months. The gym is clean, machines well maintained and I enjoy the quiet atmosphere. BUT the "Crowd Meter" is a joke. Not at all accurate. It always reads one or two blips. Well, two blips is bordering on crowded. They need to adjust this to accurately reflect the current attendance.

I have a "One Pass" plan through Medicare that pays for a gym membership and our local Planet Fitness is clearly on the list of participating gyms in my area. When I went to check them out, they told me that they don't participate, and when I told them that they are on the One Pass website they said that "all of the PF locations are independently owned and make their own decisions." I walked out and joined a different gym.

I started a 10$ a month membership. I had been a member for about 6 weeks. When an unknown annual fee caused an overdraft. I went there and asked if I could get the fee removed and end my membership. They said yes pulled up my account, ended it and then said (Oh yeah no refunds). I am mentally disabled and they took advantage of me. Then He laughed at me when I said the bank would handle it. Also me and my mom took my niece and She had to see a grown man's penis in the ladies' locker room. No she won't use ANY public restrooms. So it's a scam and not supervised. The employees won't show how the machines work unless you pay extra for a personal trainer. Do yourself a favor and chose a different Gym.

This place is absolutely ridiculous! Do not start a membership with them because even when you cancel your membership, you still get charged and they take it right out of your account. I’ve been being robbed by this business for literally a year after I canceled my membership and they still haven’t gotten the problem fixed. The staff is terrible - I have been a member for almost 2 years - they advertise 24 hour. Not true at all. Terrible terrible staff. They do not help members and when voicing I needed help I did not get it - when I got frustrated and told the guy he needed to do something - he proceeded to be rude and talk down - I am a paying customer. Without members they can't make salary. The guy lied - the whole staff is a mess - the class of people is poor.

I’ve been a member of Planet Fitness for almost 10 years now. I joined the gym because it’s convenient. There’s a gym in every neighborhood throughout the United States and I travel often. The gyms themselves I find are fairly clean. The weights and fitness machines are well maintained. It’s very consistent throughout every gym. That being said. My only complaint is almost “every” men’s bathroom at Planet Fitness are filthy. I can pretty much guarantee that when I walk into the men’s bathroom at a Planet Fitness it’s going to smell of urine. I live in New York, I travel often to Florida and both Planet Fitness bathrooms stink of urine.
I rarely write reviews. But I’ve told the employees at the desk about the smell. Planet Fitness needs to start a regular cleaning system. In the men’s bathrooms. I refuse to use the showers. If the cleanliness of the showers is anything like the urinals and toilet then I’m better off waiting and showering at home. Otherwise I’m a satisfied customer. Everything about Planet Fitness is positive. Anybody else find the Men's bathroom dirty and smell of urine?

Working out here was perfectly fine and normal. The issue is when you want to end your account. They don't allow users to cancel memberships over the web, app, or over the phone (because they are scumbags). I called their corporate office to try to end my account and the guy laughed at me. I had to call my bank and put a freeze on any transactions created by Planet Fitness just to get them to stop charging me. Apparently the only way to cancel your membership otherwise is to go in person and talk to the front desk (I moved out of the area, making this impossible for me). They do not care about their customers and just want their little profit line to go up even if it means scamming their members who have not been in years. For the record, I was paying for a membership ($10) a month for three years before I finally had enough. Horrific stuff.

Was not greeted by either one. Other people came in and the guy was on his phone when people walked by. He did not greet them. And this was this morning but it is not an isolated case. My husband joined the gym pre Covid! Unfortunately for the past two years he has been disabled. We have called the gym on many occasions trying to cancel his membership with no luck. They continue to tell us he must come to the gym to cancel. Unfortunately he is unable to do that. The only time he leaves the house is via ambulance to the hospital. It’s sad this is how they treat the disabled.

She’s was not willing to greet me when I came to the gym and gave me a bad attitude when I tried to buy water. She argued with me and I do not appreciate it. While the individuals working for the stores were super kind and tried to be helpful, there is no way to escalate a situation. Period. There is no corporate billing department and no direct contact to anyone who has any control over this. Basically I feel totally screwed. I had a home base and I moved a few years ago never thinking again that I had a home base different from the one I used. So I didn’t need the membership any longer and am a small business owner so I cut that out of the budget. While I thought for sure I cancelled my membership and signed a document there is suddenly no proof of it. So for one full year planet fitness has been charging a barely active card on file. Some transactions went through and some did not because I don’t keep funds in that account regularly. It’s just a random card.
So I was considering returning to Planet Fitness and went to sign up for the app, thus realizing that my account was NEVER CANCELLED and I’ve been charged for an entire year annnd had an outstanding balance of like $200???? I haven’t stepped foot in a planet fitness since August of 2023. I'm a small business owner and every dollar counts. It’s ridiculous to me that there is no way to handle this situation outside of the MOD of my home base store that I haven’t been to in 3 years. How do I escalate this situation and why would Planet Fitness think it is in the right to continue to charge a membership fee for someone who isn’t actively using their service for an entire year even if I’m the negligent one for cancelling and not noticing it wasn’t actually cancelled??? That’s theft and scammy in my opinion.

Yesterday 06-17-24 I visited the Planet Fitness located at Wayne and Chelten in Germantown just before noon. Once inside, I was dismayed to learn that there was no soap in the mens' bathroom. After leaving there, I was further dismayed to see there were no towel wipes at any of the sanitizing stations. When I asked the PF associate about the situation, she stated matter of factly that there was no soap or station wipes. When I asked to speak to a manager, she stated that there was none and that she was the supervisor, then went back to viewing her cell phone. Only after several other customers began expressing their dismay did wipes and bathroom soap begin to appear. I've never had such a negative experience at any PF location before; very disheartening!

I have been a member since 2020. The club on 1706 W. Irving Blvd, Irving, Texas 75061 have become an unwelcoming and unsafe place to go. I attend almost daily and use my Black Card access to bring my brother. The place have been taking teenagers that tend to hang around in groups, the number of people allowed inside have grown exponentially, the place is not clean, there is not enough space to workout, not enough machines, the water fountain is not working and the AC is also malfunctioning. The only complaint I really have is PF needs to get back to 24/7 in ALL THEIR CLUBS! This alone is what separates PF from most other fitness clubs, and is a huge selling-marketing point! This has to happen. And it shouldn't matter if you don't get many members in after midnight! With PF annual dues, and a black card holders, that's a pot of money per year not to be 24/7. If you're going to try and be competitive and hang with the big boys, it's gotta be 24/7 minus all major holidays, or you'll lose members!

I don’t understand how they harass you for payment and club fees but more than half the tanning beds have an issue. 8 bulbs don’t work. Facial tanners don’t work. So where is our $ going 'cause they can’t even provide the services they tell you about when getting you to sign a contract. Also they will put you in a bed with two bulbs working and get upset when you complain. I just want to know why us tanners can’t even tan. It’s horrible. I brought a guest for the first time ever and I had to pull teeth to even get my guest in a hydro massage bed. I’m just not happy at all. I would give a review of negative 10 on the Chapman Hwy location. Where does our $ go? 'Cause it obviously doesn’t pay for lights in the tanning bed.

Gym used to be great here in Rapid City SD, now tanning beds and hydro beds are broken and not being fixed in timely manner, machines are breaking down and not being fixed, half of the bathroom stalls are out of order, the gym is very dirty/unsanitary and not being maintained, this place has become a mess, black card members or any members for that matter, are not getting the full benefit of the price paid with broken down equipment, filthy conditions, non working bathroom stalls, and rude argumentative "acting" managers, so what are we paying for?, Constant turn over of staff, this gym has been without a permanent manager for weeks, just an "acting" manager who needs to go back to customer service training.
I have cancelled and will go elsewhere, corporate could obviously care less. "Acting" manager is rude, argumentative, speaks over you and will not let you get a word in, I will be escalating this to corporate, totally unacceptable. No wonder they cannot get and keep good help with "acting" managers like that and such poor working conditions, just not worth the aggravation, not even for the cheap price, I would be surprised if this place lasts much longer.

I went yesterday with my son to Midnapore branch in Calgary. He is a Black member so he can bring a friend. They didn't let me in, although they saw him in the database. We canceled the membership on the spot and he was suppose to be valid for another 17 days. Today they didn't let him in again. Never, but never will step in a Planet Fitness again.

Dear, In October 2023, I used the services of this Planet Fitness as planned for my visit. However, it was supposed to be a subscription for that month only, but I have been charged up to the present date (May 20, 2024). Despite numerous attempts to cancel, I have been unsuccessful. The website does not allow cancellation, and I have had difficulty resolving the situation due to the language barrier. Given these circumstances, I demand the immediate cancellation of my subscription and a full refund of the charges since the date of the unauthorized subscription. Planet Fitness is generally an okay gym for a beginner or normal person. I have no issues with the facilities themselves. I feel hostage to giving them money, I can not easily cancel my membership. I have called many times and I have been told my only option to cancel my membership and cancel my $25 recurring payment to them is to come in person to cancel it. Furthermore, after reviewing my contract I first must obtain a cancellation form in person, but then I have to send it handwritten via mail courier that says specifically, and I quote-- "I do not wish to be bound by this contract". Then you wait for them to approve it? They have been taking money from me for years, and it has been so difficult to cancel.
I really do not feel comfortable, nor do I want to go in person. As someone who has given them thousands of dollars since 2012 off and on. But mostly on. I want absolutely nothing to do with Planet Fitness anymore. It should not be that hard to cancel a membership. I am signed up at the South Coors location on 3725 Las Estancias CE SW. No complaints about employees or equipment. I desperately want out of my contract (that has no expiration date), and I desperately want to stop giving them $25 a month. I am caving and going in person to get the letter to mail, and to hopefully cancel. Pray for me.

I'm very disappointed with customer service. For 3 weeks I’ve tried to transfer my membership and I have limited time to be able to go in in person. So 3 weeks I've missed working out. It was hard enough to get motivated to start with. They say do it online, online says do it through your club. And then the club says, "Well that's the way you have to do it is online." The fact that you can sign up online but have to show up in person to cancel is scummy. I moved after signing a year long agreement and cannot visit the location, so now I have to wait to transfer my home location or send a letter via the mail? How is this legal? If you can sign up online they should be required to allow you to cancel online. I will recommend all my friends and family to take their business elsewhere. An aside, this is barely a gym. Limited option for free weights and content for body builders and serious athletes.

I use multiple locations, and PF used to be great. I joined for their 24-hour schedule and had a lot of company on off hours. Then they cut their hours drastically (but not their price), although they still leave the lights, TVs and fans on 24/7, and they are frequently late to open. Sitting (not for the first time) at 6:38 am outside a facility that was supposed to open at 6. Inexcusable.

I have no problem with the staff, my problem is with the patrons. I'm tired waiting to use a piece of equipment and the person is sitting on it playing with their phone. I've seen people tying up a machine for 20 minutes while doing nothing but texting. There should be some gym policy about this.

Since my membership cancellation in August 2023 they are milking my checking account and charging me every month. When I complained they contacted the ABC billing, contracted billing service company, yet nothing changed and charges continue. I asked my bank to stop any future charges because nothing else helped.

The idea or concept of the facility could have been good but hiring staff that is incompetent at best just destroys what good the health club could have had. I had them take double payments out of my account. I asked to cancel my membership at the mentor facility and the manager refused. This wasn't a one time horrible experience. I tried their club twice both times were a nightmare. I will never give any other health club the ability to access my funds. I hope a law is passed that prevents Planet Fitness from taking funds that do not and should not belong to them.

The employees are children and act like it and when they passively or actively interfere with your ability to use the Black Card Spa and they make just checking in an anxiety provoking encounter every time if their employees don't like you; you're paying for something that is broken 90% of the time anyway at least in the Rutland Vermont location. Report any of the poor treatment you receive by anyone that works there and you will find yourself receiving an email in the middle of the night canceling you with no refund to what you have already prepaid. When I signed up, it was under the promise that I could cancel online or by phone. Having been burned before by a gym contract, I was promised that canceling was that easy. This was clearly misleading and false. When I did go on to quit, I was given a form which I signed. This was the end of it, or so I thought. A few months later, I realized that Planet Fitness was still charging me a membership fee. I called and explained what had happened, but the rep told me that regardless of whether I canceled in person, I would need to now change my membership location to a nearby location or sent a notarized letter. When I canceled my membership in California, I did so because I was moving to Montana. The nearest Planet Fitness location was 3 hours away from me. I was so frustrated that I had to go through these insane steps just to cancel.
In the last 3 years since, I have attempted to cancel multiple times. I've sent a complaint to the Consumer Protection Bureau, called customer service, and have gone into multiple locations. I refuse to send a notarized letter after what I had gone through. Recently I went into a location to try canceling once again and was told they couldn't transfer my membership there. The only way was to call the original location. How is any of this legal?

I was told to cancel my membership online and if I did it before the date I wouldn’t be charged. Well when I realized a week later it didn’t cancel I went in to Planet Fitness and canceled. Well they took out the fee over 50 dollars. I went in PF Covington Square, Lithonia, Georgia to cancel my membership. In the end I was humiliated and insulted because I refused to pay $10 and asked for the mgr or owners’ name. I paid for a one month black card membership on Easter day, 2024, which was March 31. I decided by April 20 that I wasn't interested in Planet Fitness. I went in to the fitness center and requested to cancel my subscription, which is the way they want you to do it. You cannot call on the phone or email them to cancel, which is fine. However, I told the employee that they already pulled another payment out of my account on April 17 and asked why they are pulling it so early when my first payment was paid on the 31st of the prior month; he didn't have an answer for me. I asked him how I can get my money back since I won't be a member anymore and I canceled before the end of the month. The employee told me that there is no phone number to call because if I look up customer service online, it's gonna direct me back to their office and they can't help me.
I tried it and that's exactly what happened. So, they are charging me after less than 3 weeks of being a member a second time and he tells me I can use my membership until May 16. I was forced (illegally), to pay for all of May and I'm told that I only have weeks in May to use the gym?! How the hell does that work? I believe I am not the only member who has been scammed and possibly a class action may be in the works. There will be a few phone calls I will be making for sure. Now I know how they make their money. Crooks!!!

So it's $50 to join, But a month after December they charge you the yearly fee of $50. So it's really $100 to join, Then if they make a mistake and over charge you on AUTO pay they will not correct it. I talked to the manager 4 times and went in 2 times and they would not correct it. Refuse to cancel my membership by making it difficult and giving me the runaround. They provided me with a fake email to send the request and this is what I got: "Address not found. Your message wasn't delivered to bloomfield.ct@ignitesh.com because the domain ignitesh.com couldn't be found. Check for typos or unnecessary spaces and try again." I had two memberships and called them back in May 2023 to cancel. Last week, as I was dealing with a banking fraud, I discovered that Planet Fitness not only did not cancel the memberships, but they also renewed them without my consent or notice. I have not been to the one near me, for almost 2 weeks. Treated like a 5 yr old. The woman who waited on me was very rude, pointing her finger at me & let people go ahead of me for stand up/lay down tanning bed. She blew up when I said "I had tokens left from last year for the massage chair". I told her the manager last Aug let me take a few for I was going to have a major surgery.
She went on n on a few words exchanged. She pressed the wrong button. Another new employee laughed. This type of behavior is so uncalled for. Etc. This lady has not been there that long. Long blonde hair pulled up with tattoos all over. I have been a member since 2013. I have never ever been treated like this. She was yelling "Against policy to do this. You could be selling tokens to friends". This is something I would never do. I really enjoy tanning, massage, hydrating booth and working at my own pace. She needs to learn etiquette, professional dealings with public etc. She treats the younger ones like they are better. Sorry no one is better than the other.

As a black card member and now traveling our homeland. I'm glad PF is available at most or all of the places I travel through. Shower massages exercise workout.. And I find a lot of them are open 24/7 or 24/5. It's so worth it. Majority of the locations I have visited as a guest have been well maintained and clean. The staff is usually in a positive attitude and are willing to assist when necessary. Black card membership is well worth it. Especially if you're traveling around our country.

I had written a good review previously but after what happened about 2 hours ago. I don't know. While I was working out someone was doing their routine and dropping weights. This was annoying because I like to be in MY zone while working out and not have to listen to someone wanting to be noticed by dropping the weights loudly. I called the front desk and complained about it. I did not use any foul language whatsoever. I finished my workout and as I always do, I told the staff at the front desk, "Good night and thank you."
The Staff member MICHAEL, asked if I had called to complain and I said no. He then said YES and told me my name. How did he know my name? He went to the length of researching the Planet Fitness database and seeing my picture which was linked to my phone number. He became hostile to the point where I felt threatened. This was very, very, very inappropriate behavior from a staff member. I DID feel threatened and NOW, I feel VERY uncomfortable about going back even though I love this one particular Planet Fitness.
One bad staff member doesn't make the club bad. My biggest problem is WHY did he go to the extent of having to associate my phone number with who I was using MY PERSONAL INFORMATION I had given to Planet Fitness when I joined 2 years ago. IS THIS WHAT PLANET FITNESS DO WITH OUR PERSONAL INFORMATION? Now this staff member knows my address?

This company is a total scam. They are great at taking your money and signing you up, but whatever you do, don't try to cancel your membership. You cannot cancel over the phone, you cannot cancel through your account, you cannot cancel through your local gym (unless your local gym is where you signed up), you cannot cancel through their website. If you have moved you are really screwed.
I signed up in Morganton NC and then moved to another state. I tried to call to cancel and was refused. Said I can drive the 7 hour drive to their location to sign a piece of paper or write a letter, take off work, go to the post office to send it certified, hope the post office doesn't lose it, and then wait until someone opens it and gets around to processing it if/when they receive it. All the while, they just keep taking the money out of your account. They make it difficult on purpose to steal that extra bit of money from you. Don't fall into their trap like I did. Go to a different gym. Stay far away from Planet Fitness.

My monthly payment was set up to be paid automatically on the 17th of every month. They would wait till about a week later to deduct it from my account, then charge a 10 dollar late fee on top of it. The manager refused to reverse the late fee and argued that nothing was wrong on their end so I canceled my membership. I had been a member there for over 10 years.

My location is Millcreek, wa. I’m not happy with this location as over half the equipment, bathrooms, and black card area are always broken. They constantly have people camping out in the black card area with their backpack and taking over not even using the machines but sitting on them. The smell from those campers stinks up the whole black card area. They only have one or two people working at a time so there’s not always someone at the front desk so you have to wait around for someone to show up, the paper towel to wipe machines are always empty.

My fiancé and I like going to work out at Planet Fitness in Marshalltown. The problem is we when we go in there we are serious about working out and getting out out but you have people that just sit on the machines in the 30 min workout area on their phones and other people want to use those machines but can't because others are just sit there doing nothing. This is why they put a sign up so people don't just go in there and sit. We don't pay so much a month to watch people on their phones. We go to accomplish our goals and get our work done in a timely manner so others can get in to do their workouts too. Being positive as possible I say have respect for other people who are serious about working out and don't just sit on the machines. It's RUDE!!

I am a Planet Fitness member from Inglewood CA. The Manchester location in Inglewood California is not great. Management is unprofessional and if you have a complaint about the gym there's no way to convey your message. Planet Fitness is not a judgment-free zone. They're the opposite of what they market. The funny part is the staff judges you, leaving notes under your profile, and watching you on the cameras inside the gym. The environment is also hostile and unsafe. Hear me loud and clear do not set up a membership at the Manchester, Inglewood location in Southern California.

Planet Fitness decided to deduct 26.60 from my (prepaid) debit card WITHOUT authorization! A card I hadn't used with Planet Fitness for over 90 days. I'd since changed my debit card info after my initial sign up in December, authorizing them to use a different debit card instead. After they continuously emailed me asking for an updated payment when I removed authorization of my (prepaid debit) opting to use a different card (My actual bank card) Planet Fitness has used this bank debit card to deduct payment for my membership since January. The money wasn't available this month at due date so they just decided to backtrack payment from an older debit card that they hadn't been authorized to deduct from in 90 days causing me to dispute it!
As I'm definitely not going to utilize the membership ever again! The app sucks as well, not allowing you to edit anything and you can't cancel online ,having to write a letter instead is very inconvenient and unnecessary! The annual fee is steep also! Black card is not worth the fee or the fraud from them! Taking people's hard earned money without their permission is pure greed! Theft, Fraud! Over a workout!

I have been to the one in Saugus but the one in Revere is closer!! I drive a few extra miles but it’s still not as bad there as it is in Revere.

Got a membership for my daughter and wanted the payments to come out of my account, this was a gift so wanted to make sure I was paying for it not her. So the first thing I said I want this to come out of my account not hers. I had my debit card with me as well as my credit card. When the time came to set it all up I asked what they preferred. They said it didn’t matter so I said take payments off my credit card then. 20 something days later my daughter went in. They told her there’s late fees so my daughter paid it. In the meantime they’ve been taking money off of my credit card every month. It was the same amount and then all of a sudden it jumped from $30-$50. I had my daughter call them to find why was there a difference? They told her it was the annual fee.
The next month again was $50 so we went in to go cancel her membership and I asked them why did it jump up so much. They said late fees. I said how can there be late fees when they’ve taken money off my account every time, every month, the same day, same amount except for the last three months. The guy begins to say that, "We don’t use credit cards for payments." Not once date call and ask for a different payment method or on the day that we signed up. Did they say credit cards are only for one time use. Never once stated that credit cards are not to be used for payments when they clearly took this on the first month, and for the first payment.
When I sign my daughter up, I clearly stated how they wanted payment and the lady said it didn’t matter as I had my credit card and my debit at hand in front of her and later, it clearly is a problem. I was overcharged quite a bit of money and they double charged my daughter. Not once did they call to rectify this or even the day that we cancelled her membership Said they continue to argue about why the payments had changed. Will never sign a membership there again.

I love this gym and the amount of equipment and the kindness of staff. BUT. There is an entire section dedicated to those who are on a time crunch and can do a whole body workout in just 30 minutes yet members are always in there using the machines as regular machines so leaving us to have to wait for them to be done. They are on their phones and sitting at a machine for 10+ minutes EVERY. SINGLE. TIME I want to do the circuit. What’s the point in offering that ability when it’s never used in that manner.

My checking account got compromised. I had a credit card to be charged monthly for my membership. They charged me for many many months $40 a month claiming that my payment was late. They charged $25 for the membership and $15 for a late fee for over 6 months. They will not let you cancel your membership unless you send a letter or go not the Planet Fitness that you signed up in. I have moved out of of state. Very very inconvenient. It should be against the law to charge me a late fee when you are the ones charging my card automatically. Very very unhappy.

I am 75 years old and a Silver Sneakers client, which means I don't pay anything and the staff has no motivation to be nice to me. And then there is Adrianne who is the nicest staff member at this location. She smiles to greet me and gave me the award of Guest of The Week and said I could choose any item on the huge wall. I chose a Planet Fitness hat and I wore it proudly. I do 3 hours of Cardio every day, and missed a couple of days, and Adrianne said, "Where have you been, I have been waiting to give you this award." She smiles at me every time I come in the Studio and everyone else. She will probably be running Planet Fitness in a very short time. She should be commended because she has brought customer service back to being in style again.

II have been going to Planet Fitness South County 3X/week for about 2 years. I love going there. They have the best workers. Just to name a few there is Mark who does an excellent job keeping it sparkling clean. There is Divante and Nicki who are very welcoming, friendly, and helping whenever I need anything. Majority of time, they run out of hand cleanser in women's bathrooms, toilet paper, paper towels in stations or cleaning solution to wipe & disinfect equipment. I regularly alert staff and not great response. I'm a senior citizen so if there were a closer club I would change. I've even spoken to manager & corporate office with no improvement.

Don't trust their promotions. I joined under a promotion where they advertised "Start for only $1!" I paid my dollar and joined, and then they charged me a $50 annual fee only two months later (instead of charging it at the beginning of the next year like their promotion suggested). That was $51 to start, not $1 to start. Another shady, lying, thieving gym. Spend your money somewhere else.

This club is the most unprofessional fitness club in Yuba City, Ca. It starts with their supervision, Patty, to their management, Adrian. Patty has literally harassed and belittled my son every time he goes in. She is a bully when it comes to my son. I have asked to speak to management, Adrian, about this matter but she refuses to call me back because she is so busy running a gym. So if you want a membership to a gym that likes to harass you and bully you because they are a "Judgement Free Zone," then this gym is for you.
It's so sad that businesses are still bullying and harassing people who just want to workout. They even took my monthly payment this week and then cancelled my membership right after while keeping my money. I guess that’s how this business runs. Very sad! It's sad that the owners of this establishment have an inexperienced management team running their business. I will definitely pay more for a membership to a real gym in town. This center is fine if you are an adult looking for an individual plan. The center is not family friendly. They don't want teenagers in their facility and make it very difficult for parents of teens. Planet Fitness has lots of machines, keeps fairly clean, and the price is downright cheap -- but -- the "Judgment Free Zone" is really a "rules free zone" where a fair number of members regularly monopolize machines to the exclusion of everyone else for twenty to thirty minutes at a time so that nobody else can use them. There is no time limit for a machine - so - the bodybuilders will just do set after set, sitting on the machine in between looking at their cell phone apps -- while you look for other hopefully empty machines you can just do your one or two set workout on. It's ridiculous. It's rude. It's frustrating.

They advertise on TV $14.99 a month cancel anytime. You go in to find out that you have to give them a credit card. The whole thing is a scam. Then they hit you with a $50 fee for yearly membership. Give me a break. What I really can't understand is there's no reviews on Google and you can't write a review on Google.

Very disappointed, I have been a Planet Fitness member for past 9 years, travel different states and use the gyms. This middletown Delaware location is a clean gym no doubt but with the worse people relation management. They have been super racist towards me. I can't speak for the others, but I just moved here and 3 occasions they have stopped me from working out during my workout. Once it was for the phone call I answered when I was on the machine and I understand it was my fault and I accept that. Second time they told me I can't bring a gallon bottle with me while the others around me were using it, the third time I had a small tiny bag with me while the others had it also and they told me to remove the bag. When I pointed out the other bags they told me those string bags are allowed.
Every time I walk in the gym they talk about me and eye me the whole time I'm in the gym. They say bye to everyone and when I pass by they don't care to say bye. I confronted the staff talking about me, he replied that he was informing the staff about the incident. I thought planet fitness was a "No CRITIC" "NO JUDGEMENT GYM" all they have been doing is judging me. They mess up my workout and it feels very uncomfortable to come to this gym because of they eye balling me the minute I walk in and leave. I will keep writing reviews on every incident until district manager contacts me. PLANET FITNESS VERY DISAPPOINTED. I spoke to my community regarding my experience and most of them switched to YMCA because of this behavior. MANAGEMENT IS THE ISSUE

District Manager reached out after I reached out several times. I want to work out so I kept reaching out to them. Perhaps the district manager will educate the staff about how to treat people who have different needs. I have not seen the staff who were the problem since, but hopefully they will be better people after this.
I am upping my one star to three, because the District Manager was helpful, listened, and genuinely cared...treated me like a person and not some social pariah. People who still mask are treated badly. It isn't anyone's business why someone is masking, and if I was afraid (which is what most people assume) I wouldn't be out in public or certainly not in a gym where there is a lot of deep exhalation.

I was being harassed for wearing a mask (my immune system is shot after long covid), and other members were all around me, deliberately and dramatically coughing profusely in my direction. I alerted staff and they told me I was the problem. I complained to the manager, and went back the next day…where original staff member recruited his co workers to harass me. Called the manager again and he was a jerk. I reminded them of the ADA, but they can’t be bothered by ppl like me who could fall ill because they think masks are political and covid wasn’t real. I guess I don’t belong.

Someone is stalking me, and I informed PF. One staff said I could sign in manually, then when I tried to do so later, the same person told me I could not! Later, another staff was sympathetic & kept the #s off my card until I left because I was afraid the scanner would reveal my location to the stalker--WHO KNOWS PF staff. But then 2 OTHER staff later showed GREAT hostility toward me when I tried again to explain my anxieties (about the scanner possibly being accessed by someone who knows the stalker). I have reason to believe the stalker pays people to give him information on me. So now I think to myself: So much for "the no judgment" thing. I do not feel safe at this particular PF, though I have at other PF sites. This one is in TX.

Garbage. They had a bank card of mine on their file I never gave them. I never gave them any information regarding this bank, as I had several bank accounts. This is one I never gave them any acknowledgement of even having - yet they had my bank card. Neither have they ever accepted a "card" payment form from me, only account numbers. The Lake Worth location, with a ** female manager - or she claimed to be the manager at least, who also wouldn't give me her name, is as dumb as a box of rocks. She went in circles, never able to explain a (fraudulent) charge, nor tried to, expressed ZERO interest in problem resolution as I never gave them the "card" info. They took a total of $36.24 (I'm still in the dark as to what that total was even for as I understood the yearly fee to be $49 and the monthly charge far less).
I had gone once & never went back...nor have I cancelled the account, BUT no other charges have come through nor have attempted to come through for monthly fees nor the annual fees they've never taken from any account despite their "paperwork" showing I'm still a "member" from several MONTHS ago; neither from the account I actually gave them, since that $36.74 charge and the $1 charge for the trail month; nor would this manager give me her supervisor, or a phone number nor corporate or anyone higher. According to her, she's the ONLY one who can deal with this issue - yet wouldn't. A company with zero integrity and honest employees.

Having been a past member of Planet Fitness I was glad when a new one opened near me. After about eight months I had to quit. My main reason for joining was the 30-minute workout area which is exactly what I needed; however, despite the signs stating the purpose of that section and the claim that staff would monitor, I was hindered from working out by the number of people who came in to randomly use the machines, stay on them for prolonged periods of time. When I approached the staff about it they did nothing. I even had one of the trainers tell me just to use the machines randomly like everyone else, despite the signage and clear purpose of the area. Since going to the gym was more stressful than helpful, I had to quit. Planet Fitness would be better off getting rid of that section entirely if it isn't going to be used properly.

I work out on occasion at the Planet Fitness in Horseheads, NY and in Ithaca, NY. The facility in Horseheads is really rather nice, however those who utilize it make it virtually impossible for me to return again. I'm an older gentleman, but also one with some intellect and moral fortitude. I try to see the good in others, but when it's exceedingly obvious, very little exists there, it makes thinking and being around them very uncomfortable. If you have a thug mentality, you'll fit into these places. I do not.

By FAR the worst customer service EVER!!! I fell on tough times and I needed to downgrade, NOT CANCEL, from the $30 membership to the $10 membership. After being told by the staff member I wouldn’t be charged an additional annual fee for the downgrade, since I paid an annual fee in April 2023 for the $30 membership, I was charged the annual fee on August 1, 2023. I reached out to the staff via multiple phone calls and emails and was told they would send the request for refund.
After a month of waiting for my refund, multiple unanswered emails asking for updates, and multiple phone calls speaking to staff and being told “wait another 5 business days” I called my bank to dispute the charges on August 31, 2023. What would anyone do after a month of being in limbo. My bank issued a refund of the $52.43 that Planet Fitness took from me. Then, PLANET FITNESS DECIDES TO TAKE $82.43, THEN ANOTHER $10.70 FROM MY SECONDARY CARD ON FILE. That charge was disputed and overturned. PLANET FITNESS HAS STOLEN $92.13 FROM ME!!
Today is November 20, 2023 and I finally received a response back from Planet Fitness’s apparent management team, Kendra **, saying they would only refund me $67.43 when they FRAUDULENTLY took $93.13 total from me, and she isn’t going to “argue back and forth” with me when I’m only asking for clarification on why when I disputed the $52.43 they turn around and charge my secondary card on file MORE THAN WHAT WAS DISPUTED, $82.43. She says it was because of the late fees. How can I be charged and penalized a late fee on a fee that I NEVER should have been charged???? Can someone make that make sense for me, please?

I’ve been going to the Commack Planet Fitness since last March and was impressed from day one. The staff members are all friendly and helpful and the facility is very clean. In August I started working with Tyler and my only regret is that I didn’t start sooner. Tyler is so knowledgeable and helpful. He makes sure I am using proper form and pushes me to challenge myself but always with kindness and patience. Tyler is a great coach and Planet Fitness is lucky to have him as their trainer.

Called Customer Service to cancel the membership I hadn't used in 60 days. They suggested I go to my home location but couldn't due to travels. After going thru my info, the C.S representative confirmed my membership was cancelled then I was charged 2 weeks later. I went into my home gym and they confirmed that my account was in fact NOT cancelled and I was basically given the run around. Now reviews online say that PLANET FITNESS is NOTORIOUS for CONTINUING TO CHARGE CUSTOMERS that are under the impression their accounts were successfully closed. Am I just another victim?

I had to have surgery due to an accident. They removed four months of fees although I told them I could never work out again. Had not been there in months. They refused to refund any money and were very rude and dismissive on top of everything. In my opinion they have shady business practices. I strongly suggest you go somewhere else. Very dishonest. You must cancel in person at the gym you started with. So if you have moved out of state and wish to cancel you must fly back to your original location to do so. Also they kept charging my card afterwards. My credit union said they are one of the top business in America that they have to continually file disputes for customers.

I had just returned home from going to school in another state and I started back in my home gym in Webster, New York. I could not have been working out 1 week when this employee's conduct made it very unpleasant. First of all, I was not aware the gym cut their hours to 11pm - it had always been open 24 hours during the weekdays. One night while getting ready to leave the locker room, said employee turned off the lights on me. The last incident occurred on a weekday night when after a workout. I was taking a shower when this same employee came in and announced the gym was closed. I was surprised and said I had to rinse off before I could get dressed. She came back in about 5 minutes and threatened me she would call the police on me. She then got on her phone and was describing me while I was trying to finish up.
As soon as I was dressed and leaving the locker room - there were 2 policeman waiting at the entrance and I heard the employee telling them I was a problem. Later, I found out that I was banned from all Planet Fitness gyms. There was no notice sent to me that the gym changed their hours, nor did the employee announce the gym was closing that night when I was headed @ 10:50pm to the showers. I was not contacted by the manager to look into what happened, from my end, neither. It seems there is no accountability for the way this company can treat its members and allow their employees to conduct themselves in such a way.

The PF in Lawnside, NJ is undergoing renovation in its shower stalls. It's been 2 months and I still cannot get a shower. So I tried going to the PF in Westmont, NJ. Although the shower stalls are open, the water is so lukewarm that I just don't feeling like taking a shower there. Why can't they turn up the temperature a notch? Frankly, I am a bit tired of waiting so long. I am paying Black Card member price and getting sub-par service.

This is in regards to Planet Fitness on Charlotte St in Pottstown. The staff is great and the center is very clean but the manager is terrible and the owners need to know what is going on. On Oct 9, 2023 my daughter’s car was hit by a hit and run while she was parked in their parking lot between 10-11pm. I had to call 3x for the manager to look at the video tapes. Each time I was told by the workers that corporate was there and “she was in a meeting” but still never received a call back. After the 3rd time, she was again in “another meeting” and had to call me back. This time she had the staff member call me back within 10 min of my call and tell me that she was “running late for another meeting” and to tell me that she checked the tapes last week and left a message on my voicemail.
They told me the tapes aren’t “continuously running” and she didn’t see anything. I call **! She didn’t look at the videos and she NEVER left a VM. My car was damaged to the tune of $4000 and she didn’t have the respect or time to call me back!!! BE AWARE I know as a fact that in the past few months their parking lot has had cars broken into AND even had an attempted car theft! Plus their parking lot lights have gone completely out on a few occasions and they can’t have working video tapes that monitor?? This is a VERY poor attitude to have for your patrons’ safety! As for your manager at that location, I was disrespected and should NEVER have been treated like that. I should be compensated for the damage to my daughter’s car while parked on your property since she was “too busy” to actually do her job.

Planet Fitness business model works because of their "fine print" policies. I called to cancel in January of 2021. They said my account was then frozen and if I ever wanted to be a member to call them back and let them know and they'd unfreeze my account. Remember, I asked to cancel. I noticed today, November 1st 2023 that they are STILL charging me, 35 months later!!!
When I called the local Planet Fitness the "Assistant Manager" informed me that when they "freeze an account", it becomes "reactivated" after 6 months, where they then start charging you again. I let the "Assistant Manager" know this was completely unacceptable, and I wanted to speak to the Regional Manager. She said she didn't have a number for her Regional Manager, but that she'd go ahead and freeze my account, again. Imagine that, trying the same trick twice, on the same person.
I'm furious with the lack of consideration, refusal to make things right, and with Planet Fitness as a whole. DO NOT join this overcrowded, shady practices, no customer service having Gym! And if you do, get it in writing when you cancel. As they may still be charging you 35 months later, after you request to cancel your membership.

My local gym is ok. The only problem is I work out at night. They keep saying how they are 24 hour, but that is for only about half the week. They close at 9pm on Friday, and 7pm on Sat/Sun. I need to wake up early for work Monday through Thursdays. So the nights I want to work out are when I can sleep in the following morning....which are the days they close. I would not be as annoyed if I hadn't had a contract job in Texas and find out the Planet Fitnesses in Texas are really open 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

Filthy urine stained stalls. Unfiltered warm water from the fountains that do not work, overflowing trash and disengaged employees. Spoken to several employees and nothing gets fixed. Sent a note to management and no response. This gym is ripe for health related issues. Legionnaires and other bacteria will thrive in this environment. Department of health should inspect this facility and the water.

Planet Fitness in Commack, NY is well-maintained by its friendly staff. Yes you can YouTube exercises but when you train with Tyler in Commack, NY, he pays attention to your form and improves your performance beyond your expectations. Besides helping me lose weight through exercise, he has helpful nutritional tips for before and after workouts. Tyler's knowledge goes beyond what you would expect at any gym. Planet Fitness is lucky to have such a genuinely caring trainer on their staff.

Incident: Wednesday 10/18/2023 around 9:30 am PST. I’ve enjoyed coming to Planet Fitness (Otay Ranch) for years now, but I have to say the maintenance has been on the decline for a while. A lot of times there’s no paper at the closest station to wipe down the equipment. The restrooms are gross and usually have an unattended bathroom smell.
Today, I was washing my hands and face at the sink and the maintenance guy with the earplugs approached me in a threatening manner, accusing me for water all over the sink. Nope! That was there long before I even walked in. I found this behavior absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable. Nobody should be singled out, accused, embarrassed, and approached in a threatening manner. It makes me question why should I continue to be a member?

I have developed physical issues which are preventing me from working out, so over the past 3 months, I have submitted 3 letters via their website form at https://www.planetfitness.com/about-planet-fitness/contact-us. It includes the drop-down selection HOW TO CANCEL. At the top of this form, it states: "If you would like to reach the PFHQ Member Services team, please fill out the form below. Please note that the Member Services department is open Monday through Friday from 9 am - 6pm, EST. We will respond to your inquiry as soon as possible!"
Over the past 3 months I have submitted this form and have NEVER GOTTEN A REPLY. So today I called the Western Hills Cincinnati office to ask about it, and was treated very rudely by the associate who answered the phone, and the manager I asked to speak with. Neither would even acknowledge that I never got a reply. I told them both I have physical issues preventing me from visiting the club to cancel and was repeatedly told TOO BAD. I then called corporate and was put through an endless phone loop and on hold for almost an hour, finally gave up. My agreement number is **.

The way Planet Fitness makes their money is by having people sign up for their membership with a huge contract that no one even bothers to read because it is so large, yet it has minute details in it that take can advantage of anyone except the most wary. The team members are trained to coerce you and incite into joining a gym and thus signing it. Hidden fees, and a contractual obligation to pay any payment amount that you have missed.. No they do not suspend your gym membership until the balance is paid off like a reasonable place would. They continue to charge you month to month accruing any payments that you miss. Which means in order to cancel without being sent to collections you first have to pay the accrued amount.
This is a cruel and ruthless way of doing business with people who are trying to help better themselves. Most people would rather pay the 17 a month than pay a sum of 100 or 200 because of missed “annual renewal fees.” Contract changes means they might charge you more for this fee at any time. This is textbook entrapment and takes advantage of people and also young people who lack financial responsibility or experience. Pretty ** up!

We had a month to month membership. Decided since I lost my job we just could not swing it. Called to find out we had to cancel in person. Went and was told NO. They continued to take membership fee monthly even though we didn’t have it. We ended up paying overdraft fees to the bank. Bank eventually refunded some but not all. Gym claims we owe them for all the months AFTER we canceled in person!!!

I opened a account for $1 and like $20 activate fee or something but just know it’s NOT $1 to open as they advertise but within a couple days I canceled it. But three months later they had done withdrew at least $250. When I noticed all the money they had charged I told them they fraudulent charge me cause this was closed days after opening, mind you I have never been on any of their equipment and has never worked out in Planet fitness but long story short don’t waste your money or give any of your info because they would charge it at any time. *BEWARE. They’re seriously run down but the worst thing that hurts is that they are stealing from single mothers, minorities, people who make the minimum. It’s sad, it’s pretty bad because they don’t care for human beings period. And supposedly their gym is all about no-nonsense when it comes to that. Well truth be told we have recordings of a poor single mom crying because they charged her more than she could ever afford PLUS! Not only that they point blank lied to her telling her they needed her credit card but that they would never charge it unless she ordered water or towels etc, so she didn’t worry. But what’s funny is that her credit card was kind of required! People shouldn’t be fooled!
If they’re asking for that even after they’ve been charging your bank account, Don’t do it but they do because they’re being lied too! Because they will charge hundreds of dollars like a lot of us have and that is why I’m helping others with this injustice. So sad. I hope that BBB will get these fellas and make them pay with punishment like incarceration or/and fees please. Because not only that, customers including this mom cried that she couldn’t buy food for her babies and they actually hung up on her and because she called crying again they told her they couldn’t help her and even after she kept speaking they hung up on her. She called and they hung up on her again.
Honestly I want you to listen because it’s sad because she’s scared and she sounds like she doesn’t know what to do and sounds desperate. I feel so so sorry. They know who to victimize but we’re not about to be quiet about it. We are escalating this issue so far that it doesn’t just affect this company but others that have taken advantage. We know that this can take long and we’ve let go because of that. But no more. Not when it comes to babies being affected or the elderly or minorities who are robbed a lot because they’re scared to even complain about anything! Something needs to give! It has been a hassle for a year now. I’ve been trying to cancel my Planet fitness membership. I had to move immediately because I was an abusive relationship and they’re telling me I have to go back to where I signed up and cancel it. I cannot do that, I would never do that. I have not step foot back in that state since I moved, I’ve called several people. Everyone gives you the runaround. I don’t know what to do and they continuously charge me every month. This is ridiculous.

I just read about how to cancel your membership so they said you have to contact the 1st location where I signed up for my membership and talk to them! I called them. They said I have to come in person and cancel because we need your signature. ✍️ I mean with all these apps and technology I have to go all the way to that specific location to sign!!! This company has the world's most useless and outdated cancelation policy that I have ever seen. There are only two ways to cancel your membership. Either by walking into your primary gym location i.e. the one where you first signed up, which is highly inconvenient if you've since moved. The other, is by Sending A Letter, by which they recommend a certified letter, to request that your membership be canceled. Number one, I no longer even live in the same State as my original gym and number two it's not the 1970s anymore, no one writes a letter, and CERTAINLY not going to spend money to send it certified, just to tell a company to Stop Charging them money. This policy is the most convoluted and asinine means of doing business that I have ever encountered.

So I joined Planet Fitness in Boerne, Texas a couple of months ago. Not impressed with this location. Some of the counter help are welcoming but for the most part they just talk amongst themselves or ignore members when they come in the door. Not a friendly group working here. Anyway, that was fine until I had a situation last week. I walked in the front door and there were 5-7 employees behind the counter. Typically there is one, maybe two people working. So as I scanned my check-in I asked the general manager who was right at the counter what was going on... training, meeting? He replied just a normal day. I let it go because it really did not matter to me but it did remind me of a 'dog and pony' show I used to get back when I was a VP of a large restaurant chain and I would go to one of the stores and they knew I was coming. Know what I mean?
I proceeded to the locker room and changed into my workout gear and noticed I had left my water in my truck. I had a $10 bill so figured I would just go to the front counter and buy a water. As I went to had the $10 bill to the GM, who was there at the time the bill ripped. I would say it ripped about 2/3 of the way through. I chuckled about it and said sorry thinking it is no big deal. The GM turned to someone I had never seen there before who had their back to the counter and asked if he could accept the torn bill. The guy shook his head know and turned back around being busy at a computer screen. I thought they were joking but they were not. They weren't going to take my money. I expressed to them that if they accept currency then they need to accept my money and I was sorry it tore but should be no big deal. They stood their ground. I was flabbergasted.. shocked. So I took the $10 bill and the water and went to start working out.
A few minutes later the GM came up and asked me if I had opened the water already? Apparently he was going to take it if I hadn't. He walked back to the front and I immediately walked back to the front as well and confronted the 'guy in charge'. Note: he was a smaller ** or ** guy with a man bun or pony tail of some sort who I had never seen before.
I confronted him and he told me the GM could do what he wanted and they did not have to accept the torn bill. I told him just put some tape on it and he asked me why didn't I tape it? I told him it just tore as I was paying for the water. I was pissed and frustrated at this point. I expressed to I left the water and $10 bill at the counter and did my workout. I will not go back to this place. Funny, because of my insurance I actually get a free membership at Planet Fitness and my experience was so bad that I am never going to go back but have joined a different gym with membership fees instead. All over a $1 bottle of water and an area supervisor or corporate guy or whoever he is that does not know customer service or how to handle a situation. Unbelievable..!!

Terrible company. Once I saw them fire a middle manager because corporate came into a local gym and saw a woman walk in with her own water bottle. Corporate manager said to the local manager; "that woman can't be in here with her own water bottle, tell her to take the bottle out, she has to buy our water bottles." Middle manager guy refused and said "I'm not going to tell someone they can't bring their own water bottle and have to buy our bottled water." The corporate guy called the owner of that franchise on the spot and basically ordered him to fire that middle manager guy. And he did.
They will also stalk you around the gym if you're a body builder type of guy, if they see you lifting heavy weights (even without making excessive noise) expect to get harassed by the employees. This place makes its money off constantly signing up large numbers of "non-gym" people who usually don't show up for more than a couple months once stuck in a contract or they quit once they realize it's kind of like a bogus gym. They also flip employees constantly, so you end up getting some real terrible customer service.

This complaint is regarding employee discrimination against a member, and a complete violation of Planet Fitness' Employee code of ethic. On August 24, 2023 between 10:35 am CST, and 10:50 am CST, My son, and I went to Planet Fitness at 11400 West Markham St. Little Rock, AR 7221 where I have an active gym membership. As we walked into the gym, I was unaware that I would experience an extremely embarrising act of DISCRIMINATION, AND VIOLATION OF EMPLOYEE CODE OF ETHIC, from the staff at Planet Fitness.
Upon walking in I checked in with my phone's electronic keytag. The staff member ** stopped my son, and I, and called ** saying my membership didn't allow guests. Then he instantly yelled to ** (staff member) who was a few feet away. ** walked over and said my 15 yr old son couldn’t workout, and that I either had to upgrade my membership, or he could no longer come back to the gym after today.
I began to get slighty embarrased, but proceeded to walk off to the side away from bystanders, and my 15 year old son, where I asked ** was he aware of the High School summer pass Planet Fitness was offering until August 31, 2023. High school summer pass **. He replied yes he was aware. I asked why he told my son he could no longer come back to the gym after today (August 24, 2023) if I did not upgrade my membership. ** then rose his voice at me, in a yelling manner, threatening me to leave the gym saying he was going to call the police on me. At this time other guests began to observe the interaction.
I decided to try to deescalate the situation by walking to the front desk to speak to the other staff member instead of **. As I arrived at the front desk, ** was standing there at the computer. A bystander / guest was also standing there with a look of compassion for me. The guest didn't say a word to me, nor did I say anything to her.
I asked ** for the manager's name, and email, and he told me Cameron was his only boss, and he didn't know anyone else at the gym other than **. Then ** walked off, and proceeded to ignore me. At this time, ** aggressively walked to me, and said ** could not help me, and if I needed help he was the only one who could help. As he continued to raise his voice at me in an aggressive manner, he stated “No one else can help you but me”. I was recording the entire experience on my phone, and as I was recording, he aggressively told me I could not record. I was recording for my personal safety, and according to the Planet Fitnesses policies, I can record with my mobile phone in the area I was standing. PF Policy states **
During this same time THE BYSTANDER / GUEST WHO LOOKED AT ME WITH COMPASSION CAME BACK INSIDE TO INTERVENE. The guest attested to ** yelling at me, and said I was not loud with him at all. She then said to ** she believed if I wasn't a ** male, ** (a ** male) wouldn't have risen his voice, nor threatened to call the police on me. She spoke to ** in complete digust, and encouraged me to cancel my Planet Fitness membership, and join Esporta up the street.
Shortly after, I walked away from the front desk, and both employees ** continued to make me feel extremely uncomfortable as they stared at me religiously for at least 20 minutes straight. I was so uncomfortable by them staring at me, I did not workout. I waited in the front seating area for my son to complete his workout, then I left the facility. I have not been back since.
I am filing this complaint for multiple reasons primarily because of the discrimination. Also, because I called Planet Fitness corporate the following day to notate, and resolve the horrible experience, and they did neither. Their representative verbally told me they had filed a complaint, and that someone would be reaching out. I called back on 09/05/2023, and another representative said they had no prior record of the call, or complaint.

I'm compelled to share my deeply disappointing experience with Planet Fitness Saratoga/Wilton, a cautionary tale riddled with unethical business practices that should serve as a stern warning to all prospective members. First and foremost, Planet Fitness violated my trust by renewing my membership without my explicit consent, hitting me with an unauthorized $39.00 charge on September 1st, 2023. I tried remedying this the next day. Its nothing short of theft. This blatant disregard for my authorization is not just unacceptable; it's ethically reprehensible. In my quest to rectify this injustice, I reached out to their customer service, only to be met with further disillusionment. Literally one day after on September 2nd, 2023 to be met with hostility by an employee or "manager" calling herself Kayla.
To my astonishment, not only did they fail to acknowledge their mistake, but they also staunchly denied my reasonable request to pause my membership. I hadn't set foot in their gym for a staggering 10 months, yet Planet Fitness refused to accommodate my temporary absence. This unwillingness to show flexibility and compassion towards loyal customers like me is disheartening, to say the least. But the unethical conduct didn't stop there. Planet Fitness proceeded to renew my membership and sneak in annual fees without my consent—a blatant money-grabbing scheme that preys on unsuspecting members and demonstrates a complete lack of integrity.
What's even more disconcerting is the reprehensible customer service I encountered during my attempts to resolve these issues. The individuals I spoke to, who I can only describe as inexperienced, young, immature and disrespectful, showed a shocking disregard for customer satisfaction, respect for their elders, and appreciation for disabled veterans like myself. When I mentioned my military status and the fact that I had spent a significant portion of the year in and out of the VA Hospital, they callously dismissed my concerns.
Now, it's essential to mention my credentials as a fitness and health coach with over 30 years of experience. I want to emphasize that I'm not just a frustrated customer; I'm a bodybuilding champion who defeated adults as a teenager on the national level. Recently, I had the privilege of coaching a client to victory in the NY OCB, securing two first-place finishes and the prestigious Best Poser Award. I am well-known in the fitness community and considered the local subject matter expert.
The litany of unethical practices I encountered at Planet Fitness includes: Misleading Advertising: The gym draws customers in with false promises and then conveniently forgets these commitments once they've signed up, leaving many of us feeling deceived and manipulated. Failure to Honor Promotions: Promised discounts and special promotions were never applied to my account as initially advertised, a classic bait-and-switch tactic that reeks of unethical conduct.
Subpar Maintenance: It's evident that the gym's equipment and facilities receive inadequate attention in terms of cleanliness and maintenance. This neglect not only jeopardizes the overall experience but also raises safety concerns for members. To make matters worse, they seem to prioritize construction activities during business hours, limiting access to restrooms. In my experience, the gym has consistently been noisy due to ongoing construction work, with the constant hum of tools and equipment, and dust particles frequently blowing in my face.
Privacy Violations: Concerns about the mishandling of customer data, a breach of privacy and trust, further highlight the extent of Planet Fitness's ethical lapses. Aggressive Sales Tactics: High-pressure sales tactics were relentlessly employed to coerce members into long-term contracts and additional services, a manipulative approach that should never be tolerated.
Refusal to Address Customer Complaints: My earnest attempts to address issues with their services were met with indifference and disregard. This dismissive attitude toward customer concerns is both shocking and unacceptable. Lack of Transparency: Planet Fitness's failure to provide clear and concise terms and conditions for memberships, contracts, and fees adds another layer to their unethical behavior.
Discrimination or Disrespect: My experience was tainted by the disrespectful treatment from staff, particularly towards my military status and disability. Discrimination and disrespect have no place in any business, let alone a fitness center. Failure to Maintain Hygiene and Safety: In the midst of health concerns like COVID-19, the gym's apparent negligence in maintaining hygiene and safety measures is deeply concerning and potentially dangerous. Overcrowding: The gym's consistent overcrowding has created an unwelcoming and potentially hazardous environment for its members. You will get sick here.
My harrowing experience with Planet Fitness serves as a stark reminder of how a business can operate unethically, disregarding the well-being and satisfaction of its customers. I strongly advise anyone considering a membership with Planet Fitness to exercise caution and explore alternatives that prioritize transparency, safety, and respect for customers. My sincere hope is that by sharing this review, we can expose their unethical practices and protect others from falling victim to their deceptive tactics. Do yourself and your community a favor; consider joining the YMCA instead. Planet Fitness is a commercial nightmare that will leave you disappointed, discontented, and feeling financially exploited.

I live in Bellingham Washington while I was visiting my sisters in Cathedral city, California. I joined Planet fitness for one month. I was only going to be there for three weeks. I told him I do not want to be billed any longer after that and they agreed. Now they’re billing me for another month and they also charge me for a one time joining fee, which they did not explain to me. I want to cancel my membership but it’s making it so difficult. They keep sending me to a different Departments. It’s a dead end. I don’t know how to cancel. They want me to be there in person. I looked it up with the Better Business Bureau and it’s the same complaint by everybody.

Did you know that when you buy into Planet Fitness (PF) that you can only use the PF gym that you signed up at? I didn't know this. I just figured it would be great to be able to go across the country (or across town even) and use the local gyms. NOPE! Apparently, each gym is privately owned and operated so you only have access to that first one, where you started your membership. Worse.... When you have an issue at your local PF you have no one to turn to. Regional offices and corporate will just tell you that the gyms are independently owned and operated and they can settle their own issues there.
For instance, my 16 year old son that is gay told a lady that he absolutely loves her tattoo, the lady reported him for making passes at her and sexually harassing her. The front desk pulled him out and made him leave. He was so humiliated. Another day, I was using a piece of equipment and a lady sat over me like a vulture, even tapping on the equipment for me to get off. I told her to leave me be, stop harassing me, and use some other equipment that was not being utilized. She reported me and claimed that I was intimidating her. When the employee tries to tell me how rude I was, I pulled out my cell phone and showed her the video and voice recordings I had of it. The employee said, "Yeah, she was a bit rude, but you should have just moved and not said anything." What!!!?
Now, I can't cancel my membership, because you cannot do it over the phone, online, or have a family member take them a letter or SOMETHING. I was in an accident and can't get over there. PF is a rip off and a thief. They pull you in with their low prices and nice advertising, but when you find out how terrible they actually are, you find that you can't get out. They just keep charging and charging.

Nice job Planet Fitness in DC. While I find their cancellation policy archaic (a letter or in person) I get it. It is what it is. I have been battling cancer since February and between surgery and chemo, I was not able to get there until yesterday. I was charged my annual fee 3 days earlier. I reached out to Pam ** and explained about my situation. I had no problem paying the 10$ a month, but asked for the membership fee refund. She sent me a pic and said that needed to be done the week before and because I was 3 days late, she said, "Tough luck." I know $40 is not a big deal, but between copays and prescriptions, every dollar helps. I am shocked by their complete lack of human decency. I worry for their employees if their leadership is ok treating people in this manner. I will make sure to let everyone I know how little they care about humans. Thanks for reading.

I've been a black card member for several years. Years ago this gym was clean, equipment all worked and staff looked like they cared and worked hard. It is now filthy, smells bad, broken equipment, AC does not work properly and staff could care less... It's staffed by young kids who hang out and getting paid for nothing... Needs new management or maybe close down.

When you're a member and actually greeted as you walk in sincerely is just one of many qualifiers for the ultimate in service. At night on several occasions Angel will most certainly have me checked in. The candor. The cleanliness and smiles are always appreciated and never missed by this quite qualified staff. Always spotless in detail, cleanliness and service makes a huge difference in the selection of a gym facility. This one is not only premier but with Angel and Jasmine and all the rest, our membership can always count on being treated like the best.

Dishonest business practices, lack of ethics and predatory. Will continue to charge for services after cancellation is submitted, but claim they did not receive any cancellation letter because they save them all...obviously someone did not process the cancellation and continue to charge an account for over 18 months. I only found out because they emailed me a cancellation letter today for nonpayment (I stopped using that bank acct) and said they cancelled and I still owe the 58.00 for the past two months!!! I haven't checked into any PF for over 18 months and I owe them money!!! I was told that I needed to either come in person to cancel or mail letter cancelling membership so on 3/1/22 letter was mailed. I live 85 miles away and was not driving for that so I mailed the letter as instructed and still got charged.

I had an incredibly frustrating experience at my local gym that left me feeling completely disregarded and unsupported by the manager. It all started when I placed my keys in a locker and went about my workout as usual. However, upon my return, I was shocked to discover that my keys were locked inside the locker, along with someone else's duffle bag. I was unaware of the policy that allowed staff to cut a lock if a member had placed their own lock on a locker that was already in use.
Feeling helpless, I approached a worker named Jacob for assistance. To my relief, Jacob was more than willing to help me resolve the situation. Unfortunately, when the manager got involved, things took a turn for the worse. Instead of offering any support or understanding, the manager was dismissive and unhelpful from the start. He adamantly claimed that the person who had placed their belongings in the locker with my keys was following the policy correctly, while implying that I was in the wrong. Despite my attempts to explain the situation and even suggest that he double-check the policy, the manager refused to accommodate me in any way and insisted that I wait until the other person finished their workout.
This lack of empathy and disregard for both me and the official policy was incredibly frustrating. I was left with no other choice but to wander around the gym, interrupting people mid-workout in a desperate attempt to find the owner of the bag. Unfortunately, my efforts were in vain, and I had to wait anxiously for about 20 long minutes until the woman who had locked the locker with my keys finally finished her workout.
It was only after this ordeal that I took the time to research the policy myself, and to my astonishment, I discovered that Planet Fitness explicitly allows their staff to cut a lock when a member has placed their own lock on a locker that is already in use. The manager either did not know this policy or blatantly disregarded it, inconveniencing me unnecessarily. Despite pointing this out to him, I received no apology or acknowledgement of the mishandling of the situation.
Regrettably, due to this experience, I no longer feel comfortable returning to this gym where I once appreciated the friendly staff. Instead, I am forced to seek out another gym further away from my home. It is disappointing that the manager's actions not only violated the gym's own policy but also led to the loss of a previously satisfied customer.

I wish I can give minus stars. Club have been charging my credit card for many months despite fact, I canceled my subscription, and when I complain, they told me they have a 3rd Party (ABC), that handle payment. I contacted ABC and they insist the club must notify them of the Cancelation. I have been going back and forth between the 2 of them with no Luck.

Avoid like the Plague. Go there if you want to get robbed, if you want to interact with very rude people, if you want to risk your health and if you want to risk your safety. Gross, gross, gross. The dirtiest gym I've ever been! The entire place smells! This is by far the worst place to spend your money. The cheap price does not worth it! Trust me.
I was robbed (the thief opened/broke my combination lock inside the locker room with a very full gym!!) The management approached the situation in the worst way possible! The gym is always full, there's no wifi, no ac whatsoever and the facility does not provide sanitizers properly (only water inside a spray bottle). If you insist, do yourself a favor and go look by yourself before joining and starting a membership! (That you will also suffer to try to cancel!!!). If you go, you’ll probably see the police filling out reports of customers that have been robbed!!! THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO BE! Be careful! I’m trying to do my part and let you know!

I canceled my membership with PF six month ago and they are still taking membership fee from my account. After cancellation, I confirmed my cancellation with a team member and they told me “I'm all set. I won’t be billed.” Unbeknownst to me, they are still taking fees from my account. Initially I joined the pf in southeastern Ct. I will never join another Planet Fitness ever again.

I have been going to PF for almost a year & today the staff says “You’re supposed to wear shoes.” I'm flat footed, it’s dangerous on my ankles & knees to wear shoes. Instead of asking me to leave, the lady repeatedly walks up to me to wear shoes and then tells me that I should wear my slides, her argument was “you need closed toed shoes”. Actually it's safer to be barefoot for balance, stability and posture. Wearing shoes in my case would cause me to injure me and then I can sue. The first time she could’ve gave me warning, 2nd time she should’ve asked me to leave and she did not and then goes behind my back to talk about the situation to the customer next to me like that is beyond unprofessional and this isn’t my first encounter with this lady, was old and **.
First time, I was checking in and she gave me an attitude for no reason. If she doesn’t like her job, she should work there. If you don’t like ** then DO NOT WORK HERE!! If it was in the terms and conditions, and a rule to wear shoes, which doesn’t prevent injury, a weight falls on your foot, you still have a broken foot. I will be terminating my membership at the end of this year and go to a different gym. I see why this gym has bad reviews, they just hire anyone without the proper knowledge to talk to someone correctly, let alone telling me after an almost year of going to this gym. “You need to wear shows.” If it's a rule, put it up on the wall that says “No shoes, no shirt, no service” and I also want to mention there’s no bags on the floor and YET people do it ALL the time and nobody walks up to them. This had to be a prejudice issue.

Planet Fitness benefits from the PR of inviting high school students to work out for free, but they needed to provide guidelines for this age group. Teens are loud, unaware of others, and hog equipment including mats. It's unfair to paying customers. There are not enough 10 lb weights for women (high schoolers hog these, too) -- only 2 sets whereas there are many of higher weights. Only two treadmills have workable TV's. This is ridiculous -- just fix them!!! Watching a TV while exercising makes a big difference. Customers appeal to the staff, who are wonderful, but it doesn't seem that anyone is listening higher up. Get it together!!!!

I don’t need to go to the gym and see lifestyles shoved into my face! Your personal choices are one thing, but don’t put it into my life. This has caused me to look for gyms that don’t put this stuff into my face. Think “Bud Light”, or Target. I can take my business elsewhere!

Have been a member since Planet Fitness opened in Kelowna. Have had limited interaction with the staff (check-in, etc.) but the interactions I have had has been pleasant until today. Today I had an interaction with an extremely unpleasant, unprofessional and incompetent staff member - to the point of canceling my membership. Some of the staff (not all) definitely need to be trained in interacting with the public as it is clear that they have not been (or have completely ignored their training). Lots of options for gyms in Kelowna - I would recommend exploring elsewhere.

I have not attend Planet Fitness in over 2 years, even after I canceled in December 2022, they were still charging me.. I didn’t notice till they charged me twice in March 2023.. I tried calling to speak to the manager Christina, she was extremely rude, and had disgusting language.. she refused to help me resolve this issue and told me she trust her staff and there was nothing to do and then hung up. I will never return to Planet Fitness due to her unprofessional behavior and she should be fired, this was the location in Eggharbor Township, New Jersey.

Tanning - need a way to let people know they have been clean, only way you know for sure it’s been clean is if you see them do it. Signage saying clean or leave a bottle of cleaning solution in there so we have comfort of cleaning ourselves and knowing they’re clean.

Join last month, Paid over $50 between membership and fees. Now this month had the yearly bill and my membership so $82. Way more than I was told but I was going to be charged. Being charged extra fees every month doesn't really make the membership $24 does it?

I was a PF member for almost a decade. I worked out thousands of times at many locations with numerous workout buddies. For the most part, my endeavors at PF were favorable. I usually found their facilities clean and well equipped. That's exactly why I renewed my black card annually. Two weeks ago, I was publicly embarrassed by your staff. While standing at the front desk your Assistant General Manager informed me that I have violated PF Personal Training policy and cannot return. Moreover, her elevated voice and gymintimidation caught the attention of other gym members. It was quite embarrassing and made me feel like a Lunk.
Without success, I informed her that I was working out with a buddy and not Personal Training. Furthermore, the arrogant associate informed me that PF has a 3 strikes and you're out policy on Personal Training. Then, I challenged her to show the evidence. Upon her failure and inability to share documentation, she escalated the situation and completely lost her professionalism. Afterwards, I shared my misfortunes with my workout buddy and she was astonished by the news. She wanted to return to the gym and vouch for me. But I talked her out of it, due to the unfriendly PF judgment zone. I wanted to discuss this situation and reached out to the franchise and corporate offices several times. No reply.

Wow. I had a horrible experience with the manager at Planet Fitness today. I noticed that they have been short of staff for a couple of months now. They were meant to take out installment from my account and the staff today who had seen me about 3 times was so apologetic stating that when his manager comes at 7am she will sort it out.
Sabrina the manager came at 7am and I went to meet her and I was trying to explain that I don’t know why the funds had not come out and she responded - “I do not start work until 9am so I am not here” and walked away from me while I was still talking. In response, I say, "Ok then I do not see you - are you walking away?" She walks back and says - "It is against our policy to be rude so I am canceling your membership." This was unbelievable. I was like, "What?" She said, "Yes you heard me." So I started recording the conversation immediately.
She walks away and I tell her new staff that I have been recording the call and he should tell her. I get in my car and realized that I should ask for this policy to see if this is always not against the policy to have a manager be rude to you too. So I go back to ask for this policy and tell her that I am recording the call 'cause I am an Attorney and I’d like to review the policy. Sabrina goes that the policy is in the app and that I should leave the premises and said she will call the cops on me. I was even more shocked and disgusted at my experience today. I am both humiliated and angry at how I have been treated at this Planet Fitness.
This has been the worst experience in customer service I have ever had and to think that it started from Planet Fitness fault and a manager can be rude and then just terminate one’s membership for no reason and then call the cops on them for asking for a policy. I am horrified! I have our recording and I will expect that Planet Fitness resolves this issue.

Kevon ** is the manager at the Planet Fitness located in Milton Florida. He was one of the most courteous and professional managers I have ever dealt with, and he “took care of business”. Kevon made me feel like I was heard. Planet Fitness needs to have their managers train under him and all your locations will be successful.

I was signed up for the no commitment cancel anytime. I was in a bad car accident with my ribs caved in almost puncturing organs and my shoulder dislocates. I called to cancel when I was able to as I was not able to even step foot into their facility. And instead of having good customer service I had to argue just to get canceled and they will not refund months of money they took from my account. Under unforeseen circumstances this company and the way the lady spoke to me I will never go back there and I suggest you be careful with this facility choose a different gym. I lost hundreds of dollars because of something out of my control and I was going to come back when I was released for my doctors but now I won't and I won't suggest this company to anyone. Please buyer or beware.

This is for the location on Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, TX: Manager named Kris is very rude; herself and others don't allow customers to actually read the fine print upon signing up! I'd canceled immediately! But they still billed my card to which I'm still awaiting for my money! And then they had tried to blame it on another office for making errors.

I have been a member numerous times, but left a few times to explore other gyms.... bad mistake. I keep coming back to Planet Fitness. Other places have a lot of fancy extras with an added expense, but Planet Fitness has everything that I need.... and all the practical stuff that is used a lot in my home fitness, just in case of bad weather and I can't make it. I even love the crowd meter, so we can judge when the best time is to come.
Upon joining, I met with a trainer who helped me to design a workout. Due to my crazy work schedule, I had to take a few months off, but just started to resume my regular workouts. Once the school year is over, I intend to meet with the trainer again to discuss my results and get a new program. I absolutely LOVE IT!
What's great is that I can use the massage area for a few minutes after my workout is done, in order to rest and relax after working out. I'm yet to integrate the tanning feature into my routine, but even if I don't, this is truly the place to be. And what's plus about being a black card member is that I can go to any gym. None of this, "well, you're not at your home gym, so you can't... or you're limited to where you can go because this club has special status." Comforting, and affordable... two plusses in my book!

Gross showers like ** hair all over the showers. They don’t clean. They are liars. False advertising that they are so clean. This place lies lies lies. The bathroom are never cleaned. The employees are lazy and just sit and talk to each other. The night crew is literally useless. This club seems like a front for some shady business.

The gym can log noise complaints that can eventually get you kicked out. I have a workout regimen and sometimes bring a partner. If you grunt or raise your voice to try and motivate and push yourself or others, you will get a complaint. Even though studies show grunting or yelling helps endorphin and adrenaline production, you won't be able to push for that extra rep in this gym. I'd recommend you look for a local alternative that is more accepting of diversity and personality differences so you can be yourself while lifting.

I was going to the Planet Fitness in Apopka, Florida so I just want people to know, do not go to Planet Fitness and if and the manager. They are extremely rude. I had a situation. I came to the gym and I worked out as I was leaving. I addressed to the staff that I need to make a payment on my account. So I told the manager that I will call back and discuss it with her over the phone. Because I had to take my daughter to the doctor however she never asked me to make a payment. I’m the one that took the initiative to actually made payment with them and use my card.
The manager tells me it shows that I don’t have an adequate account on file and started disrespecting me down, talking to me over the phone and then she tells me, "I’m gonna cancel your membership" in an aggressive tone because I told her that I would continue to use my ATM card and I got a new ATM card and that’s why I made the initiative to pay using my Atm card. So I requested to speak to a district manager. She told me that she would not allow me to speak with a district manager and that she make full decisions at that gym.
So I called another Planet Fitness on Lee Road and I spoke to the manager there by the name of Felix and he was extremely nice in the beginning and then when I called back after he told me to call back that he was very rude. He said that his district manager said not to discuss with me this anymore and he did tell a district manager to call me in which I never beware from a District... And Felix said not to call him anymore because he don’t have anything to do with that issue and Felix is the manager at Lee Road Planet Fitness r fetus also stated that he and the Apopka, Florida manager he and she are very close friends. at the Apopka Florida. And by her counselor me the manager at the Apopka Florida Planet Fitness for no reason at all.
I never disrespected her. I never cursed at her. I was very humble and nice to her. I just told her that I in the beginning when I signed up last year 2022 of March, I did give them the correct account. But my account will continue to kick them out. That’s why I was making payments with my ATM card. Period. I didn’t disrespect her. I did never disrespected the gym. I’ve always been nice and quiet.
So I just want to people to know Planet Fitness in Apopka Florida. They are horrible. The staff is horrible and the manager is totally disrespectful. Horrible, do not know how to conduct herself. She’s extremely nasty and belligerent. She comes off very nice but she’s not nice at all. And by her canceling my membership. It makes a problem with me going to another Planet Fitness. And I did nothing wrong at all. Just stopped at the desk to tell them. I would like to discuss my payment and make a payment and that was it to be disrespected and talk to you over the phone like I was an animal. I will be reporting this to Better Business Bureau since they don’t have a corporate number. You can actually report these managers too.

Have my own ex equip so my black card membership was just to tan 30-40x a year though I pay every month for 1.5 yrs. Machines are down for several weeks at a time, & the front desk is perpetually manned by people that are new/untrained. 1 out of every 15 visits I have to dress & undress 2, even 3x to come out & repeatedly ask them to start the machine. Was told I was rude even though I said please- How? It was my 'tone of voice.' When you have to redress 2-3x you're supposed to be smiling & laughing about it in order not to hurt their feelings. If I ran my business the way this gym runs theirs I would have lasted about a year, not 20. I've been going to gyms for exer &/or tanning consistently for 40+ years & never had a problem or experienced anything like this before.

I would give this place zero if that were an option. Things were fine until I changed my bank. I had went into the location after speaking with someone on the phone who said I had to come in to update. I tried to update on the app but it would not allow me to do that. I went in on my lunch break as I thought that this would not be that hard of a process as it hasn't been for anything else that I had to update.
The girl at the counter was by herself and the manager was just walking around. There was a line at the counter. Once she got to me she was able to update the banking account information but could not get the credit card information in correctly. I had to return to work so I had to say I would stop by another time to get that set up. Fast forward a few days, my bank account was debited for $25.05 which I think is the black card pricing which is fine. Also through my credit card, the same card that she could not get to go through, a $5.05 debit and then a few days later a debit of $10.00.
Thus for my March membership, I paid $40.10. That's a lot for this type of a membership and not what was agreed upon. I called and spoke with Haley who said her manager was busy but was able to get her on the phone. Sabrina, the manager of the gym could not even get my name in the system correctly and had to ask for it several times. She then didn't want to listen to the charges that were made claiming that they were late charges. Nope, my account was paid in full on time when the bank account change happened.
I now have to dispute this with my bank to get back the $15.10 which was overcharged due to incompetence. I will send them a certified letter also to cancel out my membership. Long story short, I have gone to other gyms without all of this hassle. Do yourself a favor and find a better gym with a staff that is trained and can fix these types of issues that come up. Sabrina is a poor manager in my opinion and that should be looked at as well. That poor leadership might be why her staff doesn't know how to do basic things like change out a credit card on file.

Do not set up autopay with Planet Fitness. They make it nearly impossible to cancel your membership and keep billing you even though your contract is up. You must drive to the gym to cancel which if you no longer live near it, makes it very difficult and you can’t cancel online or over the phone.
