I really liked this gym until I signed up for the personal training. I went into the gym to cancel the personal training next day but was convinced by Pedro to freeze the account which I did. What he didn't tell me was if I froze the account, I would have to pay a monthly $15.00 charge. Because I froze it for medical reasons, I had no idea how long it would need to be frozen. Now, Fitness International, LLC will waive my fees to freeze the account as long as I provide them with my medical record. Without having one class, if I cancel the membership, I lose $1125.00. Doing a Google search, I found Federal Trade Commission has already sued Fitness International for deceptive practices.

I joined in the Ina Location in Tucson Arizona in May of 2025 and to date everything has been going wonderfully. However today I had perhaps one of the most unprofessional interactions I've had with someone in a customer service position. Two days ago I arrived to a sign indicating the pool was closed. When I inquired about it reopening I was told it wasn't technically closed and we could swim at our own risk which I did. This morning I called a little before 9 am and spoke to Miranda D and asked if the pool was open and if any classes were going on. She told me there was an aqua fit class at 9 but after that it would be open for lap swimming. I arrived around 10:45 and a man was in the pool swimming laps. Right after I got in she entered the pool area and asked me to get out. I asked why and she claimed she didn't like the look of the pool.

I told her about the interaction two days ago and asked if we could swim at our own risk or if I had to get out. She replied "Well I'm not going to drag you out." At that point I replied "Okay I'll respect that." And I got out of the pool. I proceeded to walk out a door that had been propped for the past 3 days with a fan that people have been going in and out of. She waited until I got into the doorway and then yelled across the pool "You can't go out that door." At that point I was already out and on the other side. She proceeded to chase after me screaming "What is your name. I will revoke your membership right now. What is your name." I was stunned. I went to the desk to speak to a manager who I knew and I expressed concern that she was confrontational, aggressive and threatening. She denied that yelling at me saying she would revoke my membership was a threat.

At no point did I argue with her, raise my voice or otherwise engage with her in a way that could be considered disrespectful. It was such a benign situation that I was truly stunned at the unprofessionalism displayed. I asked for her supervisor's name and she provided Alex **. She contacted him in my presence to let him know I would reach out. I've attempted to do so and so far I've received no response. I then reached out to James ** and have not received a call back either. I am concerned that this level of unprofessionalism was exhibited. And even when attempting to talk to her she could have apologized at that point for her reaction but instead dug her heels in.

I think the way she engaged was entirely inappropriate and demonstrates a lack of professionalism and maturity that is required for the position she is fulfilling. If that is how she engaged with customers in a customer service position it is alarming. No one deserves to be yelled at and treated with the level of disrespect I was subjected to when I ultimately willingly complied with exiting the pool through an open door that multiple people had gone in and out of.

I joined the La Habra gym for the Aqua Fit classes only. The pool has been closed for months because the roof above is not stable. There is not another location that has aqua fit classes close to me. Too inconvenient. I have several medical issues and right now the Aqua Fit classes is what works for me. Every time I call to speak with a manager, no one is available, they’re out “canvassing”. I’ve been told you can only cancel Mon-Fri 10-5. Really?!! I work! Also, they have a link through the app, if you click on receipts to go to cancel. It’s super small print with a hyperlink that doesn’t work. I have also tried to call their main office and haven’t been able to. I feel like a hostage to LA Fitness. I just want out!! If I could give a no-star review, I would!

I'm writing to express my concerns about the Broadlands location in Ashburn, Virginia. The music from the aerobic class is blasting with the door wide open, making it difficult for me to focus on my workout even with my earbuds on. Additionally, the steam room is not clean, and there's an exposed electrical wire and socket with dangling wires and no cover, which is a safety hazard. The steam room door is also missing a gasket, causing the steam to escape. Furthermore, the sauna has been out of commission for years without being repaired. The Jacuzzi is dirty and filthy around the edges. Attached pictures to show that the place needs a lot of attention. I hope you'll address these issues promptly. Thank you.

I joined LA Fitness on July 2nd of this year. My first visit was on July 7th for water aerobics. This was the only reason I joined the gym because I needed water therapy for my knee. After attending the class, I realized there were no offerings for evening classes as had been offered in the past. When I asked about the possibility of evening classes, I was advised to contact corporate to see if there is something that could be done. I was told at the gym they did not make the decisions. I called corporate immediately and inquired about additional classes being offered at the gym. I was advised at that time that it was up to the gym manager to schedule those classes, but was offered to change my membership to a different location that offered classes in the evening.

Because this did not fit my schedule and the fact the alternate gym wasn’t close to me, I made the decision to cancel my membership on July 14th. I only attended the gym once. When I canceled the membership I was advised that everything was done and I wouldn’t be charged anything additional. I was also advised that I could actually use my membership until August 1st. I only went once and didn’t use the gym any more. On July 28th I was charging an annual fee. I immediately called the gym to inquire about the fee and asked why was I charged. The young man who answered the phone advised me that I should not have been charged because I canceled my membership. He however, couldn’t credit my account but for me to call corporate and corporate could do it for me.

I spoke with Michael in corporate, who advised me that my money would not be returned as I signed a contract at the gym. If I wanted my money back, I could dispute it with my bank. I was very upset to hear this and I asked to speak to a manager. I was advised that there was nobody else that I could talk to and advised to dispute it with my bank. I asked again to speak with someone else again. I was refused and was directed yet again to dispute it with my bank. Not only could nothing be done for me. I was advised that I should’ve read the contract. That is absolutely correct. I should have read the contract, but who does that?? I called a second time to speak to an agent name Javier who advised me that there was nothing he could do.

At that time I asked for the corporate office number, a corporate address or a corporate email. I was advised there was nothing they could be given to me in that nature. I asked for Javier’s manager once again, saying that he was the manager and he had nobody over him. I explained that I have been in customer service for over 30 years. Everybody has a manager unless you are the owner. I went through all of this for $63.87. I asked again to let me speak to someone else. Instead he hung up on me and I was presented with a one question survey Rating them on a scale of 1-3; 3 being the worst. I gave it a 3 and my call was disconnected. I had my friend on the line who witnessed the entire conversation and we were both shocked at the type of service we were provided.

I called the local gym and spoke to the manager, who although he was not able to credit my account as he would have liked to. He did provide me with the corporate address that I had asked Javier for. If you are thinking about joining LA fitness don’t do it. There are many other gyms out there that don’t require a contract for membership. LA fitness is also one of the higher price gyms but I didn’t mind because I needed water therapy. How can you be charged for a service that you don’t have, only used one time and only had for less than two weeks? Customer service at a corporate level is horrendous! I’m going on every social media platform, giving horrible reviews and contacting the Better Business Bureau. I just want my money back!!

They appear to be from the Middle East and the staff appear to be the same perhaps.

What bullshit. Then I've learned that they charge you in the agreement you sign the first AND last month's fee up front. I don't remember that! So now I paid for a month that I cannot even use because there is no gym in my new location! I am so sick of these companies ripping people off. AND that place in Rock Hill, SC is so dirty and disgusting. There is hair and dust everywhere. I am glad I won't be going there ever again!

Also their AC at both the men and woman locker room hasn’t been working for weeks now. Sometimes the stench is unbearable. In the pool one of the lights been broken and it came out of the pool wall and swimming in the water with the electrical cord dangling. Isn’t that very dangerous and totally illegal? It seems like no one cares about repairing anything.

Last theft happened just this week, July 16, while he was using the gym. He left his ball on top of his backpack, and within the hour, it was gone. We reported all three incidents. The staff promised follow-up each time but never followed through. We've asked for security footage review, preventative measures, and reimbursement for stolen items. The response we received is that LA Fitness is not responsible for lost or stolen items, but they regret this has happened. As long-time paying members, we expect better.

He was quite unsure who can avail the referral pass and the other. He was insisting that the 14-old cannot come in because she is underage (she is coming with an adult, it's me!), and offer me to purchase a day pass for her. He also said that the referral pass can only be used after 24 hours from registration. I asked him to show me the instructions that say so, but he cannot show any, with an alibi of "my phone is not with me". This manager is so absurd! LA Fitness should do a review of their management (186 St NW, West Edmonton)!

DO NOT EVER COME HERE! I cancelled my membership in person on July 30th, 2024 and was told my membership was cancelled, yet found out recently they have been charging me for the past year and misinformed me that my membership was cancelled when in actuality it was not. On July 30th, 2024, the manager on the floor at that time was the one who helped me, though I did not catch his name. He sat me down by his desk and proceeded to try to convince me to stay, even offering a free personal training session. I declined, and the conversation lasted around 20-30 minutes as he told me he was processing my member cancellation. He clearly stated to me that he completed my membership cancellation and I was “all good to go” and would receive a confirmation of my cancellation via email. The email unfortunately never came, and I did not discover the recurring charges until June 15th of this year.

I went back to this location on June 25th, 2025 and wanted to speak with the club manager about the fraudulent charges over the past year. I spoke with Kay, who was the manager, and told him about the situation. Kay told me that he saw on his computer that I did attempt to close out my membership on July 30th, 2024 on his end. He told me to call the LA Fitness billing department, and I asked for a printout of what he was seeing on his desktop so I could present it as evidence when talking to the billing team. He denied me a printout of what he was seeing, and assured me that if he was able to see it on his end, then the LA fitness billing team would no doubt be able to see the attempted cancellation on July 30th, 2024 as they share the same system. I then left and called the billing department, and I spoke with Emily from member services.

I spoke to a representative Emily from Member Services at 3:37 EST on June 16th on a recorded line and she repeatedly denied seeing the attempted cancellation on July 30th 2024, though we confirmed with Kay, the club manager, that there was an attempted cancellation on that date just moments prior. Emily then tried to tell me that they had sent an email on July 30th, 2024 containing a form that I needed to print, fill out, and mail to confirm my cancellation and that it was not a receipt of my cancellation, but I never received the email. I was informed by the manager who cancelled my membership that this email would be a cancellation receipt. Nonetheless, the email never arrived and Emily repeatedly told me that this email should have arrived in my inbox, though I checked my spam and trash and confirmed my email with her.

I have repeatedly asked Emily to let me speak with a manager from the billing department and she kept denying me to speak with one, assuring me that although she was from the member services department, she was still the best person to talk to. After some back and forth, we did not reach any solution. She refused to refund me the nearly $300 they have been fraudulently charging me for.

I then was informed by Emily that only operations managers at LA fitness have the authority to cancel memberships. Then she told me that “the manager [who I spoke to on July 30th, 2024] was not the operations manager and did not have the authority to close out [my] account.” If he did not have the authority to close out my account, he should have told me to wait for someone who had the authority to cancel my account and have them do it for me. Yet, instead of handling this issue responsibly, the person I spoke to on July 30th, 2024 erroneously told me that the membership was cancelled although it was not.

It is absolutely ridiculous that I was told by the manager on July 30th, 2024 that I would receive a confirmation email of my cancellation, and then being told by Emily that it was not a confirmation email of my cancellation and never receiving any sort of email from them. I find it unethical that I was repeatedly being charged a large sum of money ($300) for an employee from LA Fitness’s mistake. I will never join LA Fitness again and don't ever come here unless you want to lose hundreds of dollars.

I reported this to the corporate office numerous times, but nothing has been resolved and the manager doesn’t do anything about it, instead they hung up the phone on me.

I have been to other gyms and all the janitors puts the water buckets away from people so they don't need to smell the bleach while they are working out. And the front staffs are rude and makes you feel unwelcoming. And there are several times, the janitor was standing right behind me while I was working out and she freaked me out. So I moved to different machine, and the janitor followed me again and placed the water bucket right behind me.

I have been LA fitness member for 15 years and never had this kind of issues until recently. Now I see why this LA Fitness has so much negative reviews compare to other LA Fitness. I also have membership with Equinox, and the janitors don't dare to come near people while they are working out. This is all due poor management. If there was another gym nearby, this gym will not survive. And some of my ** friends who doesn't speak English that well were mistreated and start going to Orangetheory. There have also been thefts in the men’s locker room that no one bothered looking into. On a positive note some of the staff make it a point to be friendly which is good and the price certainly is reasonable, it’s not expensive. What a great place to work out if you want to be around people who speak their native language all of the time. You will be surrounded by wonderful people speaking Spanish and Portuguese, who originate from South America. I feel as though I am getting added value by coming here. Not only do I receive the benefit of having a gym to work out in, but I have the enriching experience of being immersed in other people's culture. I feel like I am now part of the Latin community. I get to enjoy hearing people speak their language continually. They rarely speak boring ol' English and on the off chance that they do, it's infused with the rich tones of their native tongue to the point of being almost indistinguishable from their own language.

Coming here is a daily reminder of all the wonderful changes our city and our country is undergoing as we become increasingly diverse and multicultural. It is feeling nothing like the country of my youth (which was all white-bread ---eww, yuck!). Worst experience I have ever had trying to terminate a service.

Filthy. Disgusting. Abhorrent. I've never written a review online in my entire life. I don't really believe in them - I think people who write them have nothing better to do, etc. I AM MAKING AN EXCEPTION TO MY RULE. I hope this review goes viral. How would you feel if you were changing in the men's room, and right by your locker, was a dirty, eaten BANANA PEEL. Like right in front of your locker where you were going to put your bare ** down to change. Know also this happened one week ago, by the same member, and you asked them not to do it, and they ignored you and did it again anyway.

Ok, now imagine that that same member did it all over again. Their slimy, dirty, banana peel on your bench, where you just came from work, wanted to work out, and not get whatever worm-ridden filth comes from this dirty eaten banana peel. So then you ask this member to throw it away, they ignore you, and say "everyone eats bananas in this locker room", and refuses to do it. And then you go to the front desk and ask what the policy is on having GARBAGE where people change, and they look at their co-worker and mockingly "bro-y" say "Hey do we have a policy on this?" All the while everyone at the front desk smirking and mocking a customer who doesn't want to sit in scum.

And then you go back with the "manager" (not the real manager, those folks were apologetic and wonderful) to the locker room and they don't ask the member to throw away the slimy scum that is this other member's trash. And then you ask to speak to the manager and they say: "BRO do you know how crazy you sound? It's just a banana peel! You can go and sit somewhere else!" And then when you call member services the "manager" says to the kid at the front desk: "CANCEL HIS MEMBERSHIP!" Twice. I mean, come on , "bro". Absolutely disgusting. The only saving grace is that I called the national member services line and instantly got 4 apologies with people who obviously recognize that no one want to sit their genitalia in someone else' garbage. Really?

LA Fitness is poorly managed and property security is non existent. At least 3 lockers, with locks, were broken into today with valuables stolen. Their response is that they are not liable. They also refused to make a police report even though multiple members were impacted. This type of indifference on top of poor security is inexcusable. Look elsewhere for your fitness facility.

LA Fitness has some great class instructors other than that the flexibility on membership is the worse. It is expensive to sign up with deposits and you have to cancel in person. Even in situations where you have an injury.. No flexibility and it was created that way to make it harder for their customers to leave… Terrible! Also, no receipts are available on the app or over the phone so if you have membership reimbursement from work you need to go there in person.. Don’t forget also it has to be within their business hours of 9-5pm so you might have to take time off from work.

I prefer working out in the water so my experience consists only of the pool and spa area and the instructors connected to it. More and more often we arrive to find the pool too cold or too dirty, the spa not hot or clean, substitute instructors arriving late, unprepared and unfamiliar with the fitness level of our class while well-educated and prepared instructors show up less and less often. We have addressed to the issue in person and ask why our group tends to always be put on the back burner, but have never received a satisfactory answer or even an acknowledgment that there is a problem. Data shows that the older demographic will be growing over the next few years and are generally able to afford membership. So is it really wise to ignore issues that concern us? When the facility opens at 5:00 a.m., why is it that the pool and qualified instructor cannot be ready by 9:00?

I come from the UK but spend a lot of time in Chicago where my boyfriend lives, so we decided to check k out the 3 day trial at the local L A Fitness as it was a convenient location and wanted a place to work out. On the first visit we had our introductory tour (which consisted of sitting at a desk whilst the staff completed the registration. He didn’t answer the phone on the desk that we were sitting at, and another colleague came over and basically spoke to him like he was an idiot. Not very professional at all, in fact I felt a little uncomfortable. We didn’t get shown anything at all so we had a look ourselves. The place itself was pretty dirty and run down with members allowed to wear their T-shirt, gym shorts and sliders or trainers even in the pool and sauna.

Being foreign I put this down to the US maybe having lower hygiene standards than back home? The second day we went back for a sauna, but at the front desk we were stopped and rudely told that we weren’t registered and to wait. A member of staff came over and I patiently explained that we had been there the previous day and registered. I was told it wasn’t showing up on their system and we would have to register again. OK no problem, mistakes can happen. I was then told that I couldn’t register anyway because I didn’t have an Illinois driving license! I patiently explained that I had just moved to the states. I was then pumped for information about when exactly I moved here!

I offered to show them my passport but they just said that nothing but an Illinois driving license was a valid form of ID so my boyfriend could come in but not me, despite me using my UK license as ID the previous day. The manager said that the staff who signed me up had only been working a week and “doesn’t know what he’s doing”. (What manager says this to a client?) We left and obviously won’t be signing up, despite me using having been offered a promo the day before. This was wrong on so many levels.

    1) So only people who can drive can join LA Fitness. Talk about discrimination. So if I had a disability or health issue preventing me from driving I can’t join the club?
    2) As we were told the previous day that the ID check had been for insurance purposes and later told it wasn’t valid, I can only assume that the club wasn’t even insured for us to be there.
    3) Rude inappropriate remarks about co workers coming from the management
    4) Zero problem resolution skills
    5) Poor staff training
    6) An overall unwelcoming and almost aggressive attitude towards clients.

    7) Dirty environment with people entering pools and sauna in their workout gear (yuk)

I’m not at all precious, but just a basic level of courtesy is normally a prerequisite for a customer facing position.

On top of that, they falsely claimed I had used more sessions than I actually had. The most mind-boggling part was the cancellation process. First, they required a certified medical note, my pre-op and post-op instructions signed by a doctor weren’t enough. Then, they denied my cancellation, claiming my surgery and follow-up treatment didn’t qualify because my doctor hadn’t certified that I would be permanently disabled. I am writing in regards to classes I take in Lake Success. There are a bunch of classes that I take but can't do majority of the workout because it is over crowded. ALWAYS FULL TOO capacity. If those classes are back to back people don't give others a chance to get into the classes. It actually is a hazard. I do not think it is fair for everyone. At this Lake Success club they have a huge basketball court that hasn't been used in 2 years time. Why can't LaFitness allow the group trainers to use that space so we all have enough room?

I have seen back to back people try to come and take these classes but end up leaving due to the space. We are basically all breathing on top of each other and inhaling nasty sweat. I can't kick, punch, squat during the routine due to how close we are. I have heard about people actually getting hurt because of this. It's not fair to the instructors or even your members. Is there a way this can get fixed? I know it's been suggested to the club to move but no one does anything about it. The basketball court is probably triple the size of the regular room we are in now. I have pictures to show how horrible it is. I'd appreciate if someone would contact me regarding this issue. Hopefully we can get moved to a bigger room and be able to fully do our workout. No one does anything to FIX issues. Thank you.

I am totally frustrated, disappointed and somewhat amazed at the lack of customer service at LA Fitness in Altamonte Springs, FL. I am a member through Renew Fitness with my AARP UHC Medicare Advantage plan so maybe since I'm not a regular paying member they just don't care about me. The problem started March 2024 when I came in for the first time and was PRESSURED to buy personal training which I didn't want but ended up buying the personal training classes package for &49.95 per month. After not using the classes (which is why I didn't want them in the first place) I came back to cancel in May 2024 and was told it would be taken care of (but it wasn't).

I was informed when I purchased the package that if I cancelled I would have to pay a 50% early cancellation but since I knew I wouldn't use them I was willing to take the loss and count it as experience to never cave in to high pressure sales again. My next month bank statement showed they had taken the $49.95 out again so I went back and this time spoke with the current General Manager at the time (Jesse) who assured me it would be taken care of immediately. It wasn't and LA Fitness has continued to bill me $49.95 per month. I went back Tuesday of this week (1/28.25) and spoke with Ryan (in charge of Personal Training) and explained the situation. I told him that I tried to cancel back in May 2024, then again in June 2024 when I spoke with Jesse the GM.

I also told him that I was aware that there was a 50% cancellation charge and I was OK with that and just wanted half of my money back. He had me pay the 50% for February to finalize the cancellation (my last month of the contract) and said he would speak to his VP and see what he could do. I also offered to accept some one on one training in lieu of the money if that would be easier (just something to make me feel like I hadn't been completely screwed). After speaking with his superiors he texted me back and said a refund wasn't possible and there was nothing he could do. So I decided to call LA Fitness customer service and spoke with an agent that basically told me the same thing. He said since I didn't cancel the contract correctly back in May 2024 (which I was unaware of a CORRECT way to cancel) the contract was in force and I wasn't entitled to a refund.

I was never advised of the correct cancelation procedure otherwise I would have definitely canceled any way they told me to. The bottom line is LA Fitness has billed me $573.95 ($49.95 x 11 plus $24.50 to cancel the last month). I feel they owe me half of my money back as I'm willing to pay the 50% cancellation fee. It may be only a small amount of money to most people but it's not to me as I'm retired and on a fixed income. I believe LA Fitness still uses high pressure sales for personal training even when you say you don't want it and then when they get you locked into a contract they make it extremely difficult (in my case impossible) to get out of it. They definitely didn't care about making me happy whatsoever and now I'm completely pissed! I plan to make sure everyone is aware of my frustration so hopefully they won't have to experience it themselves.

I have been an LA Fitness member since February 2020, with guest privileges included in my membership for my wife. Over the past 18 months at the Conyers, GA location, we have experienced repeated harassment, unprofessional treatment, and questionable business practices. Every time I bring my wife as a guest, staff requires her to retake her photo and provide her phone number, even though her information is already in the system. On November 24, 2024, a front desk employee named Karis assured us the issue was fixed and that this process would no longer be required. However, on January 26, 2025, Karis demanded her information again. When we reminded him of his earlier promise, he became visibly hostile, shouted at us in front of other patrons, and even threatened to revoke my membership. This humiliating experience left us feeling belittled and disrespected.

Adding to this, my wife has been relentlessly harassed with unsolicited calls, voicemails, and emails pressuring her to sign up for her own membership. Despite explicitly requesting that the calls stop, the harassment continued. I have nine voicemail recordings and records of emails sent on November 27, November 30, and December 3, 2024. When we escalated the matter to a staff member named Tiffany, she admitted to hearing Karis shouting at us and confirmed that my account includes guest privileges. However, she refused to take accountability for the repeated issues and provided no solution. When I asked to cancel my membership due to this ongoing mistreatment, I was told it could only be done by scheduling a meeting with an operations manager during limited hours (Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM), which is impossible with my work schedule.

Beyond these personal interactions, the Conyers location is consistently dirty, with weights left unracked, unsanitary saunas, and poorly maintained bathrooms. The staff is unprofessional and seems more focused on pressuring members into additional purchases than providing a welcoming gym environment. This experience has caused significant emotional distress for both my wife and me. I believe LA Fitness is failing its members with unethical business practices, harassment, and poor customer service. I hope this review will prompt meaningful changes at this location and across the company.

The worst LA Fitness I have visited. I have visited the Hazel Dell LA Fitness for a couple months. Many friendly people. The age range trends toward older adults though many 20s/30s. Good trainers. Nice weight machines but free weight equipment is old, not maintained or not cleaned. Floors are dingy. The carpet looks 20+ years old and has obviously not been steam cleaned. No is cleaning equipment to machines during the day. As well, bathrooms are never cleaned during the day (I have visited at multiple times during multiple days)—dingy, yellowish hue, pieces of paper towels and toilet paper on the floors and smelly. Frequently no cleaning wipes or cleaning spray bottles for patrons and when the wipes are provided very few people use them — there is no culture of basic gym etiquette in a dirty gym.

The pool is yellowish, the water is not clear. I have watched patrons walk in from the gym, take off their sweaty T-shirt, shoes and socks and… jump in for bath. The facility is not sufficiently staffed and is poorly managed. Complaints to management are not addressed. This was a disappointment. The other LA Fitness east of Vancouver or the clubs in Oregon are better managed. The Lakeshore Athletic Club close by is smaller and older but cleaner option. If MRSA, norovirus, monkeypox, COVID or other viruses transmitted is what you want, this is the gym for you.

I am beyond frustrated with LA Fitness located on Northlake Blvd in WPB. I only joined because it was a birthday gift, and when I came to check the place out, I was assured that corporate was in the process of starting renovations. Well, it’s now January 2025, and nothing has changed—if anything, the situation has only gotten worse.

The equipment is dreadful. It’s old, rusted, and unsafe. Instead of replacing worn-out machines, they’ve just patched them up, and several pieces have “To Be Serviced” notices on them that have been there for weeks with no action taken. The cardio machines are rusted through, and to even use the stepper machine, members must jump on the last step just to get it to start. This is not only inconvenient, but also dangerous. The overall cleanliness of the facility is appalling. The locker room floor is filthy and clearly in need of a deep cleaning, and the bathroom stalls are all rusted and neglected. The sauna has been out of order for almost a week now, and nothing is being done to fix it. It’s clear that the entire place is being neglected.

This gym is a safety hazard, and it’s clear that corporate is only interested in collecting exorbitant membership fees rather than providing a clean, safe, and well-maintained facility for its members. The state of this gym is deplorable and unsafe. Frankly, it should be closed for total renovation before someone gets seriously hurt. I overheard one of the members threatening to contact the State and OSHA if something is not done soon. If LA Fitness doesn’t step up and address these issues, they are asking for a lawsuit due to their blatant neglect and unsafe environment. I would not recommend this gym to anyone.

I've noticed some issues at LA Fitness that I suspect are common across gyms. A lot of the equipment could use refurbishing, as the padding is worn out or coming off. While the sanitary wipes are often empty, that doesn’t bother me as much as another issue: the lack of signage about cell phone use on equipment. It’s frustrating when people sit on machines texting instead of working out. It’s bad enough dealing with the socializers who sit and chat without actually using the equipment, but those glued to their phones really take it to another level. I wish the gym would address this with clear signage or rules to discourage this behavior. That said, I understand this might not be an LA Fitness-specific issue, but it’s something that detracts from the workout experience.

The service was supposed to include measuring/tracking, customized workout plans, nutrition, a fitness assessment, and motivation during/in-between workouts for accountability. I launched a complaint with the training manager (**) on December 11th regarding my assigned trainer (Mike). He was late to sessions/rescheduling at his leisure, negative, cutting sessions short, vocalizing his dissatisfaction with the company and in no way providing any of the services indicated at the point of sale.

He did not develop a workout plan, motivate, track, measure, discuss nutrition or check in with me in between sessions. After speaking to the training manager he offered to assign me to another trainer, he apologized for my experience and explained that is not the way the program should go. He assured me that my new trainer was aware of my experience and would reach out to me before the end of that day to schedule. After a week passed with no contact from my new trainer, I contacted the training manager again. This time to request a cancellation/refund due to the service not being provided.

He was unresponsive so I contacted his manager **. ** listened to my complaint and indicated that it is a contract so I would be bound to pay it. I explained that a contract works both ways and that LA Fitness did not hold up their end. I requested a refund and to cancel. I waited three weeks and made many attempts to contact **. On 01/02/25 after contacted corporate ** called me and stated that they would release me from the contract but refuse to issue a refund. The corporate office is also refusing to issue a refund. This is my second review of the LA Fitness in Roseville Michigan > The first one was to the BBB. I said the place is going down fast. I was called by someone from corporate and they promised to fix some of the things I complained about. The hot tub was down for a month. They had it working for a week or two and it is down again. Machine own carpet torn. No paper towels in rest room or locker room. Shower curtains molding. Toilet paper holders are off and toilet paper just hanging on what was the holder. Lights out. It is just not conducive to go there anymore. People pay for their service and when they see that it is not up to standard they will go to other gyms or different LA fitnesses and that should not be.

Every time we sign in there are different people at the desk. Half the time they have no Housekeeping staff. It is just not what we paid for. I am surprised people are not asking for their money back. It appears to me that they could care less about that particular Roseville location. I am sad to say this but I speak the truth. Check my complaint on the BBB. I was called three times by someone from corporate and they swore it would all be fixed. Was for a week and then down again the hot tub. Black marks in pool bottom. Torn carpeting. Machines not getting fixed. Some down for weeks at that location. I am disappointed. I mean I was charged for this and I get nothing done. Just sad. All that money spent there for unfixed things.

I called several months later and I spoke to a lady who put his account on a "freeze". We did that because my son was on the fence about moving back to Dallas. In September, my son decided he was moving to Southern California and called to fully cancel. He was told he had to come into the Dallas LA Fitness to cancel. I called today and was told the same thing. We are not going to fly to Dallas from Santa Barbara to cancel a gym membership. Today, I was hung up on by John at 4:55pm (12/30) when I asked to speak to a supervisor and now have called back 5 times with no answer. This is absurd. Their business model is to make it difficult to impossible to cancel.

La Fitness, Allen Park, Michigan 12-13-2024 11:30 am while in the hot tub a ball of dirty suds/bubbles was floating atop the water, so happened operations manager Dakota & the facility custodian was standing at the entrance to the hot tub, so I brought this to their attention on why is there so much foamy suds in the water, Dakota explained that it's a chemical to remove dirt, so I pointed to the ball of dirt to the left side of the tub, Dakota kneeled down and scooped it with his hands and threw it on the floor adjacent to the hot tub, during which another member sharing the hot tub with me stated that it was dead skin. He also had a conversation with the custodian regarding that line of work, telling him he works at Melvindale High School and that they appreciated one another.

After leaving the hot tub, I changed into my sweatpants & gym wear. Got sanitary wipes for pullup bars, leg press, incline leg machine, treadmill. After this I showered. That's when I noticed the circles on my stomach while drying off. I stop by sales representative Paula at her desk. I asked her if I could show her the ringworms and that I needed to pull up my hoodie, she said ok. Which I did and gave her my name & number for Dakota who was at lunch. This was 12:30 pm. She had a stack of blank papers on her desk she had wrote on, she flipped a few pages and seem to write my information down.

I admittedly drove to get well urgent care on 13244 Warren in Dearborn, MI. where I was diagnosed with fungal (ringworms) by the NP who took pictures using my phone, and ordering ** cream. to Walgreens at 13601 Warren, I expressed to the NP that I had been going to LA Allen Pk for a few weeks & Livonia too. Walgreens on Warren was out of stock, so I was redirected to Michigan & Greenfield location where while waiting, called at 4:25 pm La Fitness because I hadn't heard from them. Dakota answered and I asked him did he receive my information from Paula, he replied no.

I expressed disappointment based on all of the events that had taken place involving their staff & handling of the incident, he recalled meeting at the hot tub. And that this incident was new to him, as we talked he researched (ringworms) and shared that his supervisor would be contacted before he left work at 5:00pm, and that he call me back asap before then. Our call ended at 4:41pm. I didn't hear back from him.

It's Sunday 12-15-2024. I called 10:13am LA to speak with a supervisor, front desk employee. Armetta answered, so I explained the events to her, she mentioned vasculitis was common in gyms as that its common and you enter at your own risk. I was disgusted with her response, she seemed hurried because she was the only person at the front desk and a line had formed, rushing me off constantly she did give me her name & said she would text Dakota of my concerns. This is a bad example of customer service from a health fitness chain the size of La Fitness whom are nationwide, a Friday 13th disappointment!!!

This review is totally based on customer service dealing with canceling my Pilates class. I originally signed up with Paul and at that time I was told by Paul if I wanted to cancel, I had up to 30 days from the date that the Pilates studio had been built and open to the public. Paul reassured me that I would get my refund of $99. Keep in mind I never trust auto pay to the point I paid 3 years of gym membership upfront to avoid this type of situation.

I decided to cancel the class before the studio was opened to the public. I spoke with Edward in person three times and on the phone two times to cancel the class and receive a refund of my 1st $99 then to request a refund of the 2nd $99 that I was charged. The last time I went in to speak with Edward and Jeff, the operations manager, I was told by Jeff my Pilates class had not been cancelled and I would not receive a refund of my $200. I was in absolute shock. Jeff was rude and dismissive and did not listen to his employee Edward who told him that I had spoken to him several times to cancel the class even before the studio was open to the public. LA Fitness really needs to investigate the poor quality of service at this club and provide customer service training.

Edward absolutely failed in customer service by not handling this situation correctly by making notes on my account and follow through. On my last visit, he called customer service in front of me to confirm I should get a refund. Once off the phone he gives me the phone number to customer service and tells me to follow up with them. Edward lied and said he would call me back which he didn’t. I should have stayed with 24 hours fitness. At least they didn’t lie. Bottom line I called customer service and was told that Jeff denied my refund so I’m out of $200 for a class I never took. Make sure you get everything in writing. Considering the continuous congestion in the very busy shopping center where LA Fitness is, and the fact that it takes 20+ mins to get both to and from the gym, that gives you about 1 hour and 20 mins of actual time, including work out, shower, etc, which is not nearly enough. So the new parking fees, which average $6.00 per visit for me, now amount to $600 per year. I'm done with this gym. It's grossly unfair for them to charge members for parking. Simply not worth it.

Many of us have relied on these classes for years as an integral part of our fitness routine, and the news has come as a surprise and as a disappointment. We are left to wonder what they want to use our spin room for? It is certainly to try to increase the bottom line but it is very disappointing to learn they are doing it at our expense. Spin has consistently drawn a dedicated group of members who are now reconsidering their memberships, especially since alternative gyms in the area offer a wider range of cardio-focused classes.

Spin is one of the few classes that truly delivers a high-intensity cardio workout at LA Fitness. While Zumba classes are popular, they don’t provide the same level of cardiovascular challenge or calorie burn, and they don’t cater to those seeking a more intense fitness experience. If the intent is to move spin to the Waterford location, requiring us to spend more money and buy a multi-gym pass feels like a financial decision rather than one focused on supporting members’ fitness goals. We value LA Fitness, but when key classes are removed, it leaves us with fewer options to reach our fitness goals and a genuine reason to look into YMCA, Zoo, Cycle Bar, Cycle Zone, etc.. I hope the team will reconsider for loyal members who rely on spin as a core part of their workout routine.

Also, they advertised in Indeed for a regional mgr. with a listed salary but the person who was brought down to CA for training for the job was offered the position for a much much lower rate than what was listed and for a much bigger territory with many more locations than that of the USA managers. I was just notified that the most popular Power Circuit class on Sat. morning will be temporarily replaced by Zumba.

Last week, the very popular Step class was replaced with Zumba. Both former classes were filled to capacity but in these two women’s wisdom they replaced the Step class with Zumba and it seems the instructor of the Power Circuit class gave up the class due to the wage disparity. Not to mention this class could no longer be called Boot Camp with no explanation as to why the change. It appears that top management in the US and Canada don’t seem to support the membership or the Cdn. instructors when an instructor’s class can be cancelled with a day’s notice. We’ve not had a regional manager for several years so must take direction from a manager in the US who we never see. If I could give 0 stars I would. I previously praised the atmosphere at LA Fitness, but my experience on October 18th was disappointing. As a loyal member for over two years, I was dismayed by the behavior of the new Manager, Francesca D. Here is a little backstory. I joined two years ago when my dad passed away. Recently, my mother's aggressive cancer diagnosis and hospice care have necessitated my role as her caretaker. My gym membership serves as a vital outlet for both physical and mental well-being, particularly during challenging times. I went from going 5 days a week, to whenever I can get in.

On October 18th, upon scanning into the gym, I was informed of an unpaid balance. I was confused since my payment comes out automatically on the 1st. Then with an attitude she said the yellow line on the QR scanner tells me I have unpaid balance. I show her mine and it does not have the yellow line. Then I said I'm sorry my mom has been in and out of the hospital and is now in hospice dying and I didn't realize I had the balance. She just kept repeating herself. I repeated about my mother again. However, Manager Francesca D. persisted, displaying an unhelpful attitude. I explained my current financial constraints and family situation, but she remained unsympathetic. Ultimately, our interaction escalated. I said some choice words to her and left. I came in the next morning and signed my cancellation form.

Subsequently, I discovered the unpaid balance referred to yearly dues, not monthly payments. I urge LA Fitness to provide Manager Francesca D. with public relations training, as her demeanor is detrimental to the gym's reputation. Furthermore, the gym's maintenance issues persist, with broken machines remaining unrepaired.

I would give zero stars if I could. I was a member of this gym from 2021 until I got pregnant last year. I rejoined 2 weeks ago and put my infant in the daycare. On Saturday, a 3 year old coughed all over my baby as I was dropping her off. So I took the baby with me and worked out on the treadmill. I was asked to leave 2x by 2 of their managers and told to put the baby in the daycare. They never addressed the issue of the visibly sick child and simply told me that the parents of the sick child paid for daycare just like I did. The place is run by children who do not have any common sense.

So I have to waste more time and gas for the convenience of the manager decides to come to work. They have sales, trainers, etc but no on duty manager at the Kuykendahl road location. Oh, did I say since I joined last year their spa & sauna has never worked. Pathetic and I was only canceling towel service but since they have made it so difficult I’m canceling my membership, not worth it.

LA Fitness in Orange Park, Blanding Blvd, Florida has so gone downhill. Multiple machines broken and tagged out takes forever to fix. By the time they fix those, a bunch more are broken. A lot of the bench bars are bent badly. To the point members started taking them off the benches and put signs on them "I’m bent, please replace me." The woman’s sauna door slammed so hard oh rocks the men’s sauna, they/multiple people have been told about this for over 2 years. In one ear and out the other. Gyms filthy. Used to have 2 folks cleaning during the day, not anymore. The Smith machine was tagged out for about 6 months, they supposedly finally fixed it but now it has resistance going up and down so the only other Smith machine is always being used because they won’t use that one causing folks to have to wait. They been told about this for a year and a half. I continue to go to the gym only because is very convenient for me. Been going since it was open. Stopped for over a year but let them still get my dues.

Staff sits at the desks playing on phones and computers. Go in there on a Sat or Sunday morning and there’s weights everywhere. The closers should get up and go to a gym sweep and put thing back. Hold gym goers for re-racking weights. Spay out the sauna nightly, it Stinks!! Nobody does anything up there. In one ear and out the other. Been multiple so called managers up there. New one now and she’s weak. Sent emails to corporate with pics and nothing. I see on another post LA’s biggest threat is competition. No, put up there maintaining your gym. All I want is a clean gym and things fixed in a timely manner. Kinda like I pay my dues in a timely manner. I could so go on about other issues. Someone from corporate needs to get involved with this gym. Members are talking about it. A lot of faces I don’t see anymore. Fix it. Update old tired equipment. Staff needs to act like they care.

They then said I'd have to go to another store in-person to cancel (the next closet one is in another city altogether). I said that is ridiculous and can I call the next closest store and do it over the phone with their manager, and was told that is against their practices and mangers are not allowed to cancel any accounts over the phone and are to require customers to come in in-person only. Before enrolling online I made sure they had a kids club at the location, get there after enrollment and said they have been closed since 2020!

Very inconvenient, so my husband and I had to drive to another location 15mins away, in Nov when we got there with the kids, there was a written-up sloppy sign on the door saying “ permanently closed” so we had to drive 30mins away to another location, so they closed a lot of kids club locations without letting us know …Very unprofessional and no parent-friendly, tried to cancel, I know it had to be when the manager was in, went in, manager was on lunch, so have to work around him on canceling… I work 12 hours at the hospital, have 2 kids who are home, and do real estate and have to work on their time on canceling! I sent an email to customer service, got a 1 sentence answer… We found OneLife now, that is parent-friendly and much nicer and cleaner also!

LA Fitness is very poor at customer service. They were super attentive when they tried to enroll you, they would try to reach you AM and PM. But after we enrolled, the service went downside. We enrolled for the gym and personal training membership. At the time of enrolling, we did not get a training journal that normally would be given at the time of signing up in order to keep track on the progress. We were told that it was out of stock and it will be given to us when they received it.

Going into 2nd month, we followed up both at the location and via email, did not get an answer. Four months has passed, still hear nothing. We decided that we did not want to continue with the training, we were advised to speak with the Director of personal training whom we tried many times to reach him but did not get a proper response. We decided to catch him at the location before he left the building in order to find out that the journal was re-stocked and that he had them with him all along. We were very disappointed as we should have been notified and issued the journal. They left the responsibility to us as customer to go after the material that was supposed to be given to us as per the contract. The director told us that we need to reach member service if we want to cancel the membership without the penalty.

We asked if they are opened on Sat-Sun so we can call them the next day. The director said the hours were Mon-Fri (8 am - 5 pm). We waited to call on Monday, then we found out that the days/hours that the director told us was completely wrong. We finally got to speak with the member service on Tuesday who still insisted that the situation we faced would not qualify for a cancellation without penalty. No matter how much we tried to explain that we did not receive the material that we supposed to get as per the agreement and there was a lack of communication. They still insist we have to pay for the penalty if we discontinue the service. We were disappointed and felt that we were lured into the enrolling for the program and when the service is not provided as agreed, we need to pay the penalty to buy us out from this poor and unprofessional service.

I am taking the time to write this review to highlight the poor communication and lack of concern from the manager at LA Fitness Snellville. As I read through the comments and concerns, I see that I am adding to the long list of one-star reviews for LA Fitness, hoping that someone in management will take notice of all the recent feedback and seriously address the state of this business.

Nicole, the manager at the Snellville, GA location, dismissed the concerns of 19 Zumba students (out of a total of 32) who were upset about our class cancellation with no prior notification, door signs, or communication with the instructor. Mind you several students like myself traveled many miles to attend this class. When we approached the desk, Nicole was on the phone at 9:52 AM, informing someone in the office that they would receive many calls from a 'bunch' of unhappy people due to the class cancellation, however, her answer to us was that she did not know who anyone could speak to.

I pointed out that there was a big sign on the Zumba room door that read 'Stay up to date with the latest on the LA Fitness app.' When we asked Nicole why the app wasn't updated about the class cancellation, she responded that she did not update the app. When we inquired about getting help, her response was 'She did not know and that was above her pay grade.' When asked why she didn't put a notice on the door, she answered that she had just arrived. I can only imagine that this review will also go unanswered by the LA Fitness management team, but this level of service is totally unacceptable.

I've reported several issues at LA Fitness multiple times, but they remain unresolved. On June 22, staff laughed at me when I complained. Here are the main problems:

Unsanitary Equipment: A member continues to use a pull buoy covered in black mold is still in use despite my complaints. The same member often leaves razors at the end of her swim lane, which is extremely unsafe.

Inappropriate Behavior: Men frequently use the hot tub in underwear, sometimes exposing themselves due their underwear being white. This happened four times last week alone.

Privacy Violations: A parent from the British Swim School Program brought her young son into the women's locker room to show and change, making me uncomfortable. Despite reporting this, no action was taken.

Noise Disturbances: The constant slamming of weights disrupts the women's locker room, especially in the sauna. I often wonder how much structural damage is being done, because it mimics a minor earthquake.

Swimming School: Children under 17 are using the swimming area despite posted signs. Members weren't informed of this change and they are supposed to use the pop changing areas not the locker rooms.

I use this facility because of its location to my home and the floor-to-ceiling windows in the pool area, but I am now looking for a new gym. Buyer beware! Staff behavior tends to be dismissive and at times disrespectful. I've contacted their corporate offices, filed a BBB complaint, and contacting the health department.

This place is huge so I had to come and check it out. They have everything from volleyball, racquetball, basketball, a swimming pool and hot tub, and a whole lot more! I started with the group Personal Training as soon as I joined...and - within 7 months, I was already seeing a difference in my endurance and physical self from when I first started and I've lost 20 pounds so far.

I do enjoy the classes because I like the people who do the classes with me. It is fun because we all encourage each other and challenge ourselves to do better every day. Overall - I'm feeling healthier and better after doing these classes for so long. It’s a physical therapy, as well as cognitive therapy for me. Things that they could definitely improve on though is:

    1) The sanitary stations are spaced out very few and far between.

    2) Sinks aren't always maintained with soap. They can always use the soft-soap topped off every morning as well. I usually have to play Musical Sinks in the men's locker room/bathroom before I ever find one that has soap in it. If I were to ever walk inside there in the early morning hours, I would see right away that most of the evening cleaning crew don't do their jobs because it's usually not just one or two sinks - it's every other one. If TP or PT is needed - it's not just one dispenser - it's all of them. If soaps are needed in the showers (there are 10 of them) - nearly every one of them is empty - not just one or two.

    3) 90% of the lockers are all broken.

    4) There are always exercise machines that are broken, or need service.

    5) This place needs a complete douching top-to-bottom as it is also in need of extermination as a baby centipede was spotted in the locker room. My father is a retired exterminator so I’m quite familiar with it, and if there's a baby, there must be a family of them! When Management was approached about this, it was just kinda blown off and not of any concern. This is totally uncalled for. So with sloppy janitorial duties, and lack of an exterminator - and ESPECIALLY in the covid era, these things should be a top priority!

    6) Recently the club Management was approached about Discrimination in the workplace for an individual with a Disability. These concerns were quickly whisked away, and - even though that individual was doing a really nice job and getting a lot of praise from everybody there, they were still let go because they raised Discrimination concerns with Management. Instead of taking the concerns of the disabled individual seriously, a phone call was received from an Upper Management person to tell that individual not to come back.

All of this could have been avoided had the individual with the concerns been taken seriously. And all of this would have been avoided if a serious conversation was had between the disabled individual and management / HR. Instead - let's get rid of that person! The craziest thing of all is that all the management wants that person to use them as references elsewhere. So why are they getting rid of that individual? (It’s because they didn’t want the ADA involved - but again - had a serious conversation been had between Management and Disabled individual, the ADA would have been avoided).

This place is a total waste. It’s a shame they didn’t keep that person because the place was starting to look nice, and the locker room / bathroom was always clean by the time that individuals shift was over. For anyone looking for a job - if you're disabled - you can expect to be discriminated against. None of the management here care about the club, or the employees that work in it. All of the leadership in this place need to be replaced.

This place doesn't even deserve to have 1 star. However - Planet Fitness is very clean, and all the machines are well kept! None of the lockers are broken. There are many sanitary stations. Also - a free membership, and free personal training classes are a +. People (staff) are friendlier there and Management there are all good people.

I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding an incident that occurred during my recent visit to the LA Fitness location in Burien, Washington, on March 26, 2024. During this visit, I encountered highly concerning behavior from the Operations Manager, whose name I believe to be Dymond **. Upon approaching the Operations Manager to inquire about a specific policy regarding gym access, I was met with an appalling display of verbal aggression and hostility. Instead of providing the assistance or clarification I sought, the Operations Manager failed to address my concerns professionally, and in fact, he violated my rights as a member of LA Fitness.

What compounded this distressing encounter was the Operations Manager's unjust and unwarranted threat to terminate my gym membership simply because I requested to see a policy. Such behavior is not only unacceptable but also deeply troubling, as it reflects poorly on the reputation and standards of LA Fitness as a whole. The experience left me feeling intimidated and uncomfortable, and I am deeply disappointed by the lack of accountability demonstrated by the management in addressing this issue. It appears that the incident is being swept under the rug rather than being honestly addressed and resolved.

While the personal trainers are good, the staff is doing a poor job keeping the gym clean, restacking weights, and getting members to follow gym rules. I have been a member at the Natick, MA club location from only months after the location opened. Club opened with all the basic fitness equipment, personal trainers, various fitness class sign up and walk in programs. Also important to me was the fact that there was a pool and childcare for members with children. I did not expect such a poorly managed facility. Club cleaning is generally not sufficient. Workout areas are kept fairly clean BUT the men's locker room and shower area is not swept or sanitized daily. I often see the same trash on other debris on the floors for many consecutive days. Shower floors are not sanitized very often. There has been an infestation of very small bugs on the shower walls since the club opened. Sometime more so than other times. Clearly the Natick, MA health dept. does not inspect this place very often.

The pool used to shut down for periods of time as I expect the Natick Health Dept. did monitor the pool. As of Sept. 2023 the club closed the pool and the child care services. I heard that they both were a poor ROI. No discount for members who lost amenities. I notices that many women with children and the elderly who used the pool disappeared from the club in late 2023. Fitness equipment is not maintained as it should be. Pin selector machines sometimes do not have pins. Cables, and other parts are not replaced as quickly as they should be. I believe that the aerobic bicycles are not regularly re-calibrated as they should be. I have witness staff not really focused on their responsibilities such as checking members, monitoring the floor area for excessive use of machines or putting items like dumbbells back on their proper place in racks. The staff spends much time conversing with one another. Very little concern for members' needs.

In early 2024 things are slightly better as new club manager is a slight improvement. Still this club if it has any policies does very little to enforce them. The club is full of rude selfish members who sit on machines for much too long performing multiple sets and then sitting looking at their phones. They look at their phones for much longer than it takes their muscles to recharge and they have not regard for anyone that might want to use the machine. Staff surely observes this behavior but does nothing. I could go on but...enough said!

LA FITNESS, SMITHTOWN NY I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration, shared by numerous members, friends, and family, regarding the current state of affairs at your gym. It pains me to report that the condition of the equipment and facilities has reached an unacceptable level, severely impacting our ability to enjoy and utilize the services provided.

First and foremost, the functionality of the equipment is severely compromised, with the majority of machines either non-operational or experiencing significant issues. For instance, out of the eight stepper machines available, only one is in working condition, while the remaining seven have been marked for parts or service since December 2023. It is now February 2024, and regrettably, there has been no discernible progress in resolving these issues. This prolonged period of downtime not only hampers our workout routines but also reflects poorly on the gym's commitment to maintenance and member satisfaction.

Furthermore, the availability of essential equipment accessories, such as pins, is severely lacking. Many machines are missing pins, making it impossible for members to use them effectively. This inconvenience forces members to waste time searching for pins or to forgo certain exercises altogether, detracting from the overall gym experience.

Additionally, I must highlight the poor condition of certain equipment, notably the arm curl machine. The cracked leather surface makes it uncomfortable and potentially unsafe for users, further diminishing the quality of our workouts. Regrettably, these persistent issues have led me to explore alternative gym options, and I am not alone in this decision. Several friends and family members who share my frustrations are also considering leaving your gym in search of better-maintained facilities.

As a loyal member who values fitness and community, it saddens me to have reached this point. I implore you to take immediate action to address these concerns and restore the gym to a standard that aligns with the expectations of its members. Timely repairs, regular maintenance checks, and improved communication regarding equipment status are essential steps in rebuilding trust and ensuring member satisfaction. I sincerely hope that you will prioritize these matters and work diligently to rectify the situation. Your swift response and commitment to improving the gym's facilities will not only retain existing members but also attract new ones, fostering a stronger and more vibrant fitness community.

Hello, I would like to submit a complaint on behalf of a lot of women at the Edmonton West location (12410 167 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6V 1B1). Our LA Fitness has kid's swimming club program. As an adult only club, the kids have designated changing tents set up inside the pool. In practice, however, there are kids from 2 to 10 years old, male and female, using the women's changing room. Most commonly mothers are escorting their kids of either sex into the women's changing room. The kids are changing clothes in both the washroom and showers, and occupying all of the stalls. A few times we had a conflict with moms who bring their older boys into the change room with them. This leaves them to watch club members change their clothes and take showers, fully exposed, which is not only uncomfortable but indecent especially for children in their pre-teens.

We complained a lot of times to the managers, but nothing changed. As we understand, it is a violation of the adult club rules but no one does anything. During the program, we also can't swim in the pool or relax in a hot tub, because the facility is full of parents on the sidelines and screaming kids. The environment is highly disruptive to the patrons who pay to use the facility, as an adult only facility. A lot of us switched from family facilities like YMCA to LA Fitness for the advantage of avoiding this type of experience. In order for the program to continue fairly, we would like for management to have some safeguards in place. At the very least, children beyond a certain age should be prohibited from opposite sex change rooms and be offered individual/family changing alternatives. There should be signage to enforce proper use of the facilities. This is an issue of safety, privacy, and club rules and our concerns have not been addressed.

Frankly, the surprising frequency and duration of less than courteous members camping out (often looking oblivious, mesmerized by their phones, I suppose a “sign of our times”) on the machines is frustrating. The club culture and atmosphere has been fine, EXCEPT for ACCESSIBILITY due to these repeat offenders…. Even though they probably impact only a small but still double digit (?) percentage of members. Almost all of the gyms I have worked out at over the decades have done a better job of preventing this hogging problem by educating new (as well as long time) members by telling them things like “no super setting” / no holding equipment, be courteous, etc.. Then policing the situation at least at a held-up member’s request, as well as perhaps with a rare reminder of policy, politeness and practice of sharing over the intercom and/or otherwise.

Instead, I would like to sign up for just 1 session per week for 6 months. After 6 months, I was told that, actually, my contract was for an entire year. They never gave me a copy of the contract, even when I asked, and they told me that even though they never gave me a copy, I would have to pay 50% of the remaining contract to cancel and lose the sessions I had paid for if not used before the next billing. I continued performing the sessions until I had none. Finally, I asked my trainer to cancel. He said he would take care of it but never did.

I went to LA Fitness, and they told me I needed a manager who was not there but that I could call to cancel when the manager was there. Now having called, they said they would get a manager to call me back. The manager never called. Now, they say I have to come in and sign some forms to cancel the contract. I may finally be able to get out of my contract, but hopefully I can save someone else from signing up for personal training with LA Fitness. They scheduled me to go to a PERSONAL TRAINING ASSESSMENT on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 4:00 PM With **. Since the membership includes my husband, we both showed up for the training. The instructor Carlos explained to us the use of some machines and elements by doing some exercises, but I became very ill, very dizzy, with my heart beating rapidly, I was on the verge of fainting, I immediately looked for a place to sit. I drank the water that I had brought, they gave me a chocolate bar with protein.

I am a person who has had chemotherapy treatment and other health problems, exercising did not do me any good. Expect to gradually normalize. My husband didn't do well with the exercise either, we are not used to this. With all this that happened to us in training, we decided it was better not to go to the gym anymore. In the afternoon on Monday, October 23rd, I called the person in charge named ** and explained what had happened, that I was better off canceling the membership, she told me that there was no problem but that I had to go personally and talk to the general manager.

On Wednesday 26th at 9:40 AM, I went to the Gym and asked for the general manager to cancel my membership, but a young woman who was at the counter told me that she could do it, she told me the page with the cancellation and I told her: "Will the money be refunded to my card?" She responded that there is no refund, that the money stays there, don't use the gym, that's my problem. I said to her: "How so? I only came to the training, but I haven't used anything, it's not right that they keep my money."

At that point, the manager ** appeared and told me: "The money stays here, it is not returned, you lose it, you had 4 days to cancel." I answered: "You never explained that to me, you just told me to sign here, here and here ". But it is not possible for me to lose my money without having used the gym other than training. It seems very unfair to me that they keep my $159.98 just for obtaining membership, I am on disability and without a job, I am not a millionaire. For this reason I am contacting at the customer service for help with my refund but they responded the same: Money stay with them, is not refundable. This is stolen money and unfair.

They want you to go online and get a cancelation form from the website and postal mail it to them to cancel. I was not able to acquire the form nor, would they cancel on the phone. I had to send a email letter demanding the cancellation to several of the email address that I found online and threaten that if they didn't cancel that it would result in legal action. It took them 4 days to cancel. I'm done and never again.

The contract allows 3 days to cancel, yet the sales rep assigned me to a trainer that was not available for 3 weeks after signing up; therefore, I could not evaluate. Now I am selling my house and moving to a location and no LA Fitness is within 20 miles of my new home. THEY REFUSE TO CANCEL the contract! Saying that Virginia does not have a relocation clause, and I can buy my contract out and pay 50% of the remaining contract. I am writing this to try and protect someone else. If you are thinking of personal training and you have recently had a knee surgery or an arm surgery even though your surgeon has cleared you but what they ask of you is still too difficult they will not let you out of the contract. The people who sit you down and talk to you about this personal training program have gone to classes to learn how to lie to you and present it to you in a way that you don't understand the full hard facts. It will cost you $240 a month for 12 months and yes they're going to tell you that you can cancel at any time but you really can't. You still have to buy yourself out of the contract which is a lot of money.

Now let's break down the cost so you can see it for yourself. $240 a month at once a week for 25 minutes so four times a month at 25 minutes only equals 1 hour so you're paying $240 for one hour a month now times that by 12 hours to equal the 12 months. That's right folks almost $3,000 for 12 hours. LA Fitness does not care about your health. All they care about is your money. Be very careful of what you sign. It is designed to make you think you're getting a good deal.

I had a free membership through medicare. The pool and whirlpool were always gross looking. There is a shower in the pool area to rinse off. Each time I was there the shower was leaking- a lot! I told them at the desk but it was never fixed. The ladies locker room has 2 TVs. Every time they were both on, on different stations, and both very LOUD! So you get this cacophony of irritating noise. Again I mentioned to front desk but never changed.

There are many break ins in the parking lot, but they don't care. This has been going on for years, but still no cameras or security in the lot. They really don't care. Even though my membership is free and this is the closest facility to my home, I am canceling and won't be back. All these sales-people care about is YOUR SIGNATURE. Many promises were made when I signed up for LAF - Lutz, FL.. I was told I could add my sig. other to the plan for half-price - she was immediately turned away at the front desk the first time she tried to enter. My trainer was 30 minutes late to our very first appointment, and never followed up on any of the hotel workout routines he said he would write up for me. It was never clearly explained to me that training sessions are 25 min. 25 MINUTES... what? They cost a fortune as well. I went for their bottom tier training program - 3 sessions a month for 225 dollars. Math that out and you should get approximately $150/hr.

Glassdoor claims that a senior trainer can earn up to 70k/yr - that's approximately $35/hr for regular full-time. If I assume that they cover all overhead with their monthly and yearly dues (which should more than cover it), that is a profit margin of %429. Their monthly fees and annual dues are double what their competition offers (namely EoS fitness), and for half of the equipment and amenities that other gyms offer.

The cancellation process is BANANAS. You have to request to cancel on their website. Then, they send you a confirmation email. THEN, you have to physically mail a printout from that email to some office somewhere. THEN, you still have to pay %50 of the personal training contract that you regrettably agreed to. They made the cancellation policy as difficult and ruthless as possible. I would not be surprised to learn that a significant portion of their profits come from people who just gave up on cancelling, and just pay their training dues without ever going into the gym. Companies that rely on the misery of their customer to stay alive deserve to die. Let LAF die. If you are sick of being cheated and lied to, do yourself a favor and steer clear of LAF. Truly abysmal. Go back to LA.

The gym and staff at the Clark/Linden, NJ location are nice. However, I made the unfortunate mistake of signing up for a personal trainer with them. The gist of it is, if you choose the 3x/week option, you get a personal trainer that spends 25 minutes…read that again…25 minutes, no warmup, no cooldown, just straight working out, they aren’t even in workout attire, just 25 minutes of them showing you how to do the workout. You get all of this for $660…$660… MONTHLY. And the best part is, to cancel, you would STILL have to pay 50% of the REMAINING CONTRACT for the INITIAL AGREED TERM. And their terms are 12 MONTHS ONLY. To put it simply, the total cost would be about $8,000.

Whether you cancel within the first month or the 6th month, you would still have to pay either $4,000 or $2,000 ON TOP of the 4K that you already paid for the previous 6 months. Bear in mind that you can sign up for FREE 1 HOUR LONG classes (yoga, cycling, etc) because it ALREADY COMES with the gym membership. Oh, and the $660 for the personal trainer does not include the $40 you’ll pay monthly for the actual gym membership. You’re better off getting the gym membership and finding your own personal trainer. Please don’t sign up for their personal training. In the event that you do make the same mistake, you have 3 DAYS TO CANCEL FROM WHEN YOU SIGNED THE CONTRACT in order to get a FULL REFUND for that INITIAL $660 and STOP all FURTHER PAYMENTS.

But today was a different story.

I'm doing my workout on the green area that the gym has recently added, so I'm running, jumping, and the pit bull started barking at me. I mean it's one thing a chihuahua barking at you, but a pit bull which itself was a really jacked dog as well. This is inside the gym also, clients should not have to put up with unruly staff. Please make sure you discipline your staff and let them know that bringing their dogs into the gym is not allowed. I never bring my dog or cat to the gym, just because he works the front desk does not give him any special privileges. The gym itself is great though!

They say they can’t hire a new contractor because the head office in CA won’t allow it. This has happened twice in a year and lasts for weeks and months. While the hot tub is down it isn’t necessary to heat the water to over 100 degrees saving electricity. Does it really take months to replace a part? Or is this a cost-cutting measure?

27 Years ago, I bought a lifetime membership with Bally's Total Fitness, that would have given me nationwide access to all clubs. My membership started in NYC and was going well for the first 7 years. I relocated to Arlington, VA ("VA") and during that transition period, La Fitness bought Bally's Total Fitness, to-wit Bally's Total Fitness members were given a certain amount of time to grandfathered in. I missed the deadline by 1 day. As a result, I was compelled to start a new membership with Lafitness, at an increased monthly fee and restricted to the use of one club in VA

I recently relocated from VA to Maryland ("MD") and thus attempt transferring my membership from VA to MD, as it is an hour drive each way from MD to VA. I was told, I need to open a NEW MEMBERSHIP with the LaFitness in MD, which doubles my monthly fee. One of the managers in MD (Lanham Lafitness) literally told me, that I should cancel my membership and take my business to a competitor, because Lafitness has an influx of new members on a daily basis, and thus canceling my membership will not affect Lafitness one way or another.

After 27 years of continuous membership with Lafitness. I was appalled by the advice of the manager. As I am no longer living in VA, I now have to pay a $10 fee to use any of the clubs in MD (for the time being), even though I have a full membership. While being appalled by the manager's advice, I took it as an healthy advice to follow through on, especially when patronizing a business is not being appreciated.

    1. The rep did not mention any annual fee despite I asked specifically if there are any other fees up front and after sign up.

    2. Call local gym to cancel, said have to show up. Told them due to my working hours, I can't be there when the person in charge of the membership is in the office. They repeat the same thing -- ACTUALLY YOU CAN CALL TO CANCEL, JUST CALL THE REGIONAL PHONE NUMBER (ofc I have to look up online to find this info).

    3. The rep that registered us verbally said "I don't have to be professional with me" when I had a conflict with them about why I am getting double charge -- this was the annual fee that he DID NOT TELL US ABOUT, and now saying HE DON'T KNOW WHAT IS THAT CHARGE AND SUGGEST ME CALLING LA FITNESS CENTER.

    4. The same rep lied that he was the manager, BUT HE WAS NOT.

    5. Call in the regional office, got the account freezing because the phone rep was much nicer.

    6. Finally want to cancel it after 2 months for good because I have another gym. Called in the regional office, the phone rep said there is a CHARGE to unfreeze the account to cancel -- the previous phone rep DID NOT MENTION THIS AT ALL, if I would have known, I would have cancel it completely on the second trial.

    7. Found out the charge to unfreeze the account is different between accounts in the Family Plan, despite being opened at the same date and billed the same amount monthly. The phone rep DON'T KNOW WHY, just repeatedly said the system calculate it to be like that. WOW. After consistently explaining my frustration with all of these fees, the phone rep decided to CHARGE my account WITHOUT MY APPROVAL to the fee to cancel the second account. She told me there is no other fees after her action of doing that. Wow. What an amazing company culture and policy.

I am an older person. After PT from surgery was over, I wanted to continue. Signed up for personal training with LA Fitness. They are not geared toward someone who has never used a gym, but it seemed ok, sometimes I was sore for a week or so after, but I liked getting help. But I hurt my back so that walking was difficult after one of the exercises and I've been trying since September (over 3 months in other words) to cancel my personal training contract.

I called and was told to come in person so I did. I was told it would be no problem, they would cancel. I called back to confirm and was told I needed a doctor's note even though it wouldn't make a difference unless I was completely paralyzed but I could still cancel for 1/2 my remaining contract. So I got a doctor's note and delivered it back in person. Was told fine, the contract would be cancelled. But nothing happened. I called in October to ask, "why?" This time I was told to fill out a form online and was emailed a non-working link to do so. So I called back, and again was connected to a manager to told it would be taken care of, just wait a few weeks.

After no contact from anyone, on November 15, I went again in person to the club with a letter detailing everything I've gone through to cancel. The Manager was not there, but later I got the new manager on the phone with reassurances that all would be taken care of and he was going to see if my entire remaining fee could be returned - but still nothing. Talked to three people this week alone and was told that today I would get a call for certain! Nope.
